I was driving home from working 12 hour graveyard shift. I fell asleep at the wheel and ran off the right hand side of our blacktop road 1 mile from home. My 2002 corolla was traveling around 50mph i awoke and attempted to correct the car's path and hit a tree head on destroying the right grill bumper hood, windshield, right fender, inner upper frame work and headlamp assembly and wiring. The dash light indicating a problem with my air bag is on. Toyota states that a safety recall is pending that might affect my car. Until then, they are unable or unwilling to repair my car. They state that the airbag may go off on it's own. They cannot tell me how long it may be before the recall is announced. This seems highly dangerous to me.

I bought a car recently that had been in an accident and repair (restored / salvage title). Found out later that there is no air bag on passenger side and no air bag squib on driver's side air bag in steering wheel. Also air bag light bulb in dash has been taken out. Toyota central downtown los angeles has failed to remedy the recall ofthe electronic control module(ecm),i've been to central toyota service department two times and they turned me away by giving me excuse of parts unavailability. Therefore please advice me what to do next?.thank you.

The engine is using excessive oil. Need to add 1 quart every 300 miles to keep filled. The car has 120,000 miles. Notice blue smoke upon acceleration. Car has been regularly serviced according to toyota owner's manual.

Ive owned this car for 3 weeks and have had to put 2 quarts of oil in every week because every morning i start my car lot of blue smoke is coming out my exhaust. This is because the design temperature for the pistons in this engine was 120 degrees celsius and the actual temperatures reached are 160 degrees celsius, which causes the petroleum oil to sludge up and carbon to accumulate in the piston oil holes that allow oil to flow to the piston rings. This blocks those oil holes, preventing oil from getting to the piston rings and subsequently the piston rings wear very, very quickly, then allowing oil to be able to slip past the piston rings, into the combustion chamber and out the exhaust. This will lead to replacing the pistons which is an extremely expensive and labor intensive job just because toyota made a mistake with the way they built the engine. It's a shame that toyota hasn't recalled this vehicle because there are countless amounts of records on these cars having that problem. The car can break down after so much oil has been burned and that could happen un expectedly. It's drivable but not safe.

My toyota corolla 2002 ce has a design flaw with the pistons. There are not enough holes in the pistons to allow enough oil to go through and as a result, the vehicle is burning a lot of oil, up to 1 quart of oil every 250 miles. Please! can you help me with this situation? thank you.

The contact owns a 2002 toyota corolla. The contact stated while accelerating, the vehicle lost power and within a few minutes it suddenly accelerated. The brake pedal had to be depressed in order to control the speed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure. A diagnostic test was performed that was unable to display a failure code. The 02 sensor and the catalytic converter were replaced; however, the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000 and the current mileage was 147,000.

The contact owns a 2002 toyota corolla. While driving 65 mph, there was a low rumbling sound coming from the engine. There was also a strong exhaust odor inside the vehicle and it burned more oil than normal. The contact had to place approximately five quarts of oil into the vehicle after driving 150 to 200 miles. The service engine light remained illuminated and the vehicle failed to accelerate normally. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic and diagnosed that the head gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.

The problem is and has been excess oil usuage. It uses a quart about every 400 hundred miles. I bought the car used at a local honda dealer may, 2010. It had 102,000 miles on it. It now has 117,000. It's been using oil every since i've had it. I took it back to the dealer and they couldn't find any thing wrong. They said the engine was clean and there were no oil leaks anywhere.i've searched the internet and there are alot of complaints posted about this car. The problem is the engine put in the car in 2002. A 1.6l was replaced with a new 1.8l engine and evidently the 1.8l didn't seat properly causing oil usuage.my son drove this car while he was at college. The problem is, with this kind of oil usage, you can run the car out of oil. We tried to keep up with it, but if you run it high speeds it will use more oil. Ifthe car runs out of oil on an interstate and the engine locks up, well you could have a serious safety problem.i keep the car at home now because of the safety concerns. We drive it locally only.

The contact owns a 2002 toyota corolla. While driving approximately 35 mph the engine warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel. She added oil to the engine, and then towed the vehicle to a local repair facility.a mechanic stated that the tie rod failed, and that the engine needed to be replaced. No repairs were made. She filed report number 091113338 with the manufacturer.the current and failure mileages were 116,000.

In august 2009 my catalytic converter attached to the muffler went out. They put in the code that was given for that job. I have had nothing but problems , i was back in the shop every other week because my emergency light would keep coming on. I am 68 years old and for me this is a safetyissue because i didn't recognizemy car was having other problems. This electrical problem has not been addressed/corrected to this day. L would appreciateif you would contact toyotaand have them take care of this.

My toyota corolla 2002 keeps wanting to stall. I've taken it in several times and mechanics says there is no problem. Not sure what to do.

I have a 2002 toyota corolla that uses an excessive amount of oil it is not leaking it out it is burning it. After reading numerous complaints of virtually the same problems from other toyota corolla consumers i believe this seems to be a common problem in this year make and model. I even had to replace my catalytic converter due to the problem. My local toyota dealership told me to call the national toyota customer experience line and they told me that this was not a recognized problem. From everything that i have been told from car repair places and the internet i must "your looking at a complete overhaul... You want to replace the piston rings and valve stems... But every gasket you touch or go near should be replaced along the way. Also add in incidentals for items that break or things that are discovered along the way..." toyota will not admit that this is a manufacturing problem; however, lots of people are having issues with it including myself. I have not done an overhaul of the engine because i am looking for toyota to take responsibility for their poor work. I did replace the catalytic converter in july of 2009. Right now i am going through all my in less than 3,000 miles. I have to put oil in before my regular oil changes. Now i am just waiting for the next major replacement due to this problem. Many others are putting quarts of oil in every 1,000 miles or less. I can't wait until i get to this point to have this resolved.

Vehicle was going about 45 mph when all of a sudden the engine stalled unexpectedly. Vehicle was then towed to a repair shop, and results showed that the timing chain bolt was too tight, which bent the valve, and totally ruined other engine parts. Vehicle was then towed to a dealer for repairs.

2002 toyota corolla -car just stops running, symptoms like timing chain failure.car stalls and will not die while driving.dangerous driving condition.

Tl * -in october 2006, the contact took her 2002 toyota corolla to a repair shop because she was hearing a noise coming from the engine area.the vehicle had an odometer reading of 61, 313 miles.the dealer told the contact that there was no oil on the dip stick.the contact stated that she did not see an oil leak around her vehicle. The contact was also told she would need a new motor for the vehicle due to oil starvation, and that there was a sludge buildup in the motor. The contact stated she had taken the vehicle in for an oil change in june 2006, at which point the vehicle had an odometer reading of 56, 860 miles. The contact stated she also told the dealer about a grinding noise she was hearing.the dealer told her they could not duplicate the grinding noise.the contact would hear the noise when the vehicle reached speeds of 20-50 mph.the contact stated there were no warning signs when the noise occurred.the warranty dept has told the contact they will not cover the failure due to vehicle neglect.the vehicle is at the toyota dealership.the contact has all of her repair orders for the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2002 toyota corolla. The engine is burning oil and there is no evidence of a leak.the mechanic stated that the failure is the engine.the mechanic put an oil stabilizer in the car to maintain the failure. The current and failures were mileage 73784.

Engine malfunction dash indicator came on.first toyota dealer replaced spark plugs after discussion and said drive car for few days.warning light came on next day.second toyota dealer ran full diagnostics and got code p1346. Advised vvti cam needed to be replaced and possible timing chain.minimum cost just over $1000.i asked if there was a service bulletins on this.they said no. There is.now what step should i take?

Changed design from timing chain to belt 2 months after release.bolt attaching timing chain sprocket to cam shaft overtightened at factory causing thousands of dollars of damage to cam timing chain and sprocket and several other parts, and leaving me stranded in a national forest 45 miles from nearest services with no cell phone reception.

I would like to document my concern regarding the failure of the charcoal canister in my 2002 toyota corolla.this seems to be a common problem and i have seen quite a few people complain about the same on the internet.regardless, i feel that a part so non descriptive shouldn't cost over $500 to replace.secondly toyota motor company insist that the part would be covered for a recurring failure only if it is replaced at the dealer, where the costs are 2/3rds more than a normal service shop such as midas.toyota should not advertise on reliability if parts fail at 50000 mark and that to becomes so expensive to replace (including labor).i see this is a wide spread problem and i would appreciate if there a recall is initiated on this part and replacements done by the manufacturer.

I am writing regarding an issue with my 2002 toyota corolla.i recently had to replace an emissions control device in my car, a charcoal canister due to it being clogged.i am concerned that this may be a wide-spread problem because on the day that i had my car repaired, i met another person at the toyota service station with the same issue and who also had a 2002 toyota corolla.however, fortunately for her she was still under warranty so she did not have to pay for the repair.the warranty for this part is 3 years or 36,000 miles. Unfortunately for me, i was at the 38,000 mark on mileage and so i was out of warranty.before i had the car fixed, i contacted toyota customer assistance center at 800-331-4331 (reference #: 200309021930) and after a bit of back and forth, they informed me that they would good will the part to me since i was right out of warranty, but i would have to pay for the labor.as a side to this story, toyota north in mt. Kisco (where i purchased my car) labor fee to replace this part is a $90 diagnostic fee plus 1.5 hours labor adding to a total of about $225.after shopping around, i found that toyota city in mamaroneck (located within the same county as toyota north) labor fee for the same job is $90 total.obviously, i opted to go to toyota city to have the part replaced.my concern is how many clogged charcoal canisters had to be replaced in the 2002 model of a toyota corolla.i did contact the u. S. Department of transportation, national highway traffic safety administration and filed a report regarding the failure on this part and hope that others would do the same.overall, i don't think people are aware that they can file a report on this type of vehicle part, as they do not think it is related to a safety concern.i would like to get the message out to all toyota owners that it is very important to file a report on any auto part that fails regardless of the fact that it is covered under the manufacturer's warranty.

Purchased car on 9-4-2001, no smell at all. Fuel pump goes bad and is replaced after 20 days owning car at 300 miles. After pump replacement i noticed very bad rotten egg smell. Took it to dealer for diagnostics and said nothing wrong with car, but it could be the fuel. It was advised to use 5 different fuels. Fill tank 3 times using each fuel until the car burns the gas that does not smell. They all smell and people as myself are getting sick riding in the car. The small happens at least twice a day with no set time. Some orders are light in smell then a strong smell that will force you out of the car. I have asked many owners of the same type of car who get gas at the same station i do if there car smells and everyone said no. I have contacted the dealer and a district tech from new york, and they have told me that they will not look at the car anymore and we have to go to arbitration. There phone no. Is 310- 618 4000. Something does not add up. Only one visit, the car still stinks, i feel sick driving it , no second visit to dealer, field tech brushing me off , and go to arbitration after one dealer visit. I want this investigated by your department , and i think it also my be time for law enforcementalso .

While driving, the engine light illuminated on the dashboard. Dealership wouldn't service vehicle without any appointment. When the consumer took the vehicle for service, she was informed vehicle was out of warranty because of the mileage.the defective part.the dealer "good willed" the part since the vehicle was just outside of warranty and the consumer just had to pay for the labor. *ph*nlm

I took my 2002 toyota corolla le in for an emissions test and failed.i was told that the repair would cost above $500 because the charcoal canister on my emissions control system had failed and i need to replace it.after researching this problem on the internet and speaking with my mechanic i found that this was a very common problem with corollas.i was also told that the reason for the failure is that the canister is set at an angle and it allows engine gases to liquefy and cause failure.i am upset because this car has fewer that 65000 mile on it and this is a major part failure.please look into this for me and all the other people who have had this obvious vehicle defect. Thank you.

"there is an off gassingof chemical in vehicle that is causing an irritation to consumer respiratory system".

A few weeks back my car's check engine light came one (this was when the mileage was around 40,500). Since it was out of warranty so i took it to a aaa certified repairshop for investigation. I later came to know that the engine light was due to charcoal canister failure. Since the charcoal canister can only be obtained from the dealer so i later inquired about the repair cost. The total repair estimate was told to me around $480 which prompted me to search the web about similar repair issues. I came across several similar complaints related to charcoal canister for many toyota vehicles.i have always taken the car to the local toyota dealer for regular oil-changes,etc. I was alarmed that such an important part of the car would fail just a couple thousand miles after the warranty expiration. So i called the toyota assistance at 800-331-4331 on 6/3/2005 (reference # [xxx]). I was told that the dealer would contact me some time within the next 3-4 days but that never happened. Upon calling the toyota assistance center today again (6/16/05) i came to know that the dealer had never bothered calling me and had instead just left a notification in the electronic system that the regional center had refused to provide any information in this regard. My other car in the household is around 70,000 mi and it had never had any such problem. I would appreciate if the toyota looks into the charcoal canister failure issues more seriously and provides relief in that regard. A part of such importance and cost should not fail within such low miles. I have contacted the wisconsin department of agricultural, trade and consumer protection in this regard as well.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The vehicle had a weak climate control, particularly lukewarm heat.

Left headlight demonstrates a distinct ray of light emanating up and out approx. 70-80 degrees perpendicular to the front of the vehicle on both high and low beam operation.dealer attempts to adjust headlights have not rectified problem.the problem is distracting for the driver and may affect oncoming traffic.

A beam of light comes from the headlights and shoot upwards, like a spot light . This causes a visibility distraction to the driver, especially when drivingin fog or under over head trees. Also, reduces the headlights illumination on the road.

Headlights on the 2002 corolla have been redesigned.they reflect a direct beam straight up.this is very distractingbecause the beams cross over the wind shield as they point up.this happens when the lights are on high beam.have no idea how this appears to distant drivers.the engineers need to redo this design.

Both headlights have stray beams on high beam that project upward at a 45 degree angle.very distracting when driving in light mist conditions.dealer has attempted to adjust headlights with no effect on condition.

Headlights cannot be adjusted, one beam goes up in the air at 70-80 degrees, the other goes straight ahead.

There appear to be a distracting stray of light when i have my headlights on at night.it is even worse when you have the high beams on.is there anyway toyota dealership can take care of this problem?

2002 toyota corolla le acceleration pedal:--occasionally, but rarely, appears to stick momentarily (a sensation like a spring that has temporarily stuck and then sprung loose).i took it into my toyota dealer but they said there was nothing wrong that they could detect.therefore nothing has been done to correct the mystery.the sticking/springing sensation still occasionally occurs but it is very hard to predict when it will.--it seems to happen shortly after starting up.i am concerned because i do not want the acceleration problems that have occurred with other toyotas.the date of the first incident, listed below (mar 5, 2002), is approximate.the vehicle was purchased oct. 2001.

Check engine light went off due to charcoal canister in my 2002 toyota corolla.i have been using 93 octane content gas since the day i purchased this car.

My 2002 toyota corolla accelerated out of control while i was driving it a few years ago.the pedal was not stuck, the cruise control was not on.i called toyota to complain and they said it was an isolated incident, and was not covered under any warranty.my mechanic never found the cause of the problem but i have lived in fear that it would happen again.i have heard that many other toyota and lexus owners had the same problem and toyota is blaming it on faulty floor mats.this is patently false and they are trying to cover up a manufacturing defect.i was almost killed and other drivers apparently weren't as lucky as i was to get off the road safely.i emailed toyota recently and received no response other than an automated notice of receiving my email.please let me know of any recourse i have in this matter.

The vehicle had a strong sulfur smell, consumer states that the vehicles gas mileage is deteriorating.

On 04/29/02 consumer discovered that vehicle was leaking fuel.vehicle was repaired by dealer who advised consumer that the fuel lines had come loose.on 29-jul-2002 while driving, engine compartment caught on fire as a result of fuel leaking.

Charcoal canister vacuum switching valve was gone bad and stuck in position 1. This happened to most of the corolla. I have read on internet about toyota fixing this problem to few of the customers as goodwill. I had to pay around $500 to get it fixed. If this wasa known design flaw it has to be fixed by toyota. My car hardly has 58,000 miles on it and i had done every bit of maintenance defined in the corolla manual.

Sometime within the first 2 years of owning my 2002 corolla, the drivers side window started to stop working.it was intermittent.sometimes i would roll my window down to order takeout and couldn't roll it back up and have to drive in cold then after several tries, it would roll up and be fine until the next time.....maybe 2 months would go by,,,,so i decided to have the driver side motorreplaced under my 6 year, 100,000 mileswarranty.ithas been fine until this year, now my door handleon the inside hasbroken, and some how the window has come off the tract and when i roll the window up you can see by the tinting, that it has shifted and now the gap on my window, not at the top but at the side towards the rear, there is a 1/4 inch gap when window rolls up.this happened after my outside door handle became stuck when i opened my door, it stayed lifted up and i couldn't close my drivers side door.i had to physically push down on the outside door handle in order to get my door to shut and latch.....now my window won't roll up all the way and .....its a pain not to be able to go thru the car wash....i have to hold towels in it in order to not get interior wet. My car only has 80,000 miles on it.....anyone else having that kind of problems....people have tried to get door panel off and you need a special tool....of course you do!i don't have any cash to fix it so i just live with it.....what a pain! the dealership has been sold so, i am sol!sorry they said.....that was under the old dealership and we don't honor their repairs!whatever........at least i should be thankful my gas pedal doesn't stick!

The contact owns a 2002 toyota corolla. The contact stated that all four of the interior and exterior plastic door handles were broken. The handles were replaced. The failure occurred within a one year period. The manufacturer was notified regarding recalls on the vehicle.there were no safety recalls on the vehicle at that time.the contact has not experienced any additional failures with the vehicle.the vin was unavailable. The failure and current miles were unknown.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 30 mph the hood came unlocked and hit the roof of the vehicle.the vehicle was towed to a local repair shop for inspection.the mechanic replaced the hood, front and rear windshield, roof and trim, fender panel and hinges.the manufacturer was alerted. It was determined the hood latch was worn and was not properly catching the striker.updated 03/29/06.

2002 toyota corolla -car just stops running, symptoms like timing chain failure.car stalls and will not die while driving.dangerous driving condition.

My 2002 toyota corolla automatic transmission gear shift handle can be shifted by accidentally touch.there is no need to push down the lock button for changing the gear from "d" to "n" or others.

The gear shift locked up three times.

While driving the vehicle at 25mph the automatic transmission broke. Dealer replaced with one transmission remanufacture went again after a week. Please provide further information. Ts

The consumer stated that on one occasion the vehicle was unable to shift out of park.

Consumer stated while traveling at 25 mphdriver was involved in a rear end collision.passenger's side seat belt did not hold, belt came out from out of the retractor. Also, none of the airbags deployed.as a result passenger suffered a chest concusion/ neck spring and back spring breaks.

I purchased this vehicle used from a dealer on october 17, 2007.after purchasing the car i noticed that sometimes when i pull out the seal belt, it locks and can not be pulled out any further.the belt can only be pulled out further only after a drive and start to apply the brakes.after an argument with the salesman the manager agreed to replace the front seat belts.a day later, i watched the mechanic install the pair of seat belts that came from the dealer in sealed boxes.after installation the problem is still there.management told me i was lucky they replaced the seat belts because used cars are all sold "as in".they refused to do any further repairs.toyota dealership says that i would have to pay a diagnostic to find out what the problem isand then pay for repairs.a gentleman from toyota's parts department tried to buckle himself in and had the belt locked as he was pulling the belt out.he tried again slowly but same results.he claims he never experienced anything like this and don't know what could be wrong.can anyone help me?

Vehicle involved in rollover.failure of roof structure, passenger compartment, occupant restraint, windows and seat.

Frequent use of the driver side seat belt may cause the seat belt to become tangled and not feed through the feeder properly resulting in serious bodily harm and/or inability to use seatbelt properly.

Dt*:the contact stated the front passenger seat belt retractor fractured and broke internally.the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection or repair.

Consumer stated while traveling at 25 mphdriver was involved in a rear end collision.passenger's side seat belt did not hold, belt came out from out of the retractor. Also, none of the airbags deployed.as a result passenger suffered a chest concusion/ neck spring and back spring breaks.

The contact owns a 2002 toyota corolla. The contact stated the driver's side seat frame was fractured. When accelerating, the seat would slide backwards and forward. The dealer replaced the seat but the frame was bent which prevented the seat from staying in place. The failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 80,000. The vin was not available.

About a week ago, driver seat could not return to upright position after adjusting angle. Then we noticed large piece of seat back frame was protruding on the left-hand side. Upon removal of covering and cushion to uncover the back frame, we discovered that, of the two solid-steel arms attaching the back frame to the bottom part of the bucket seat (the adjuster mechanism), the arm on the left-hand side has been split into two separate pieces, along a horizontal break in the steel itself. In short, the left half of the seat back frame is not attached anymore. Initially we suspected vandalism, but the break is definitely not a saw cut (even if were possible); and we also discovered that the steel arm on the right-hand side has a half-inch long crack in almost exactly the same spot, and also horizontal. This led us to conclude that the break on the left arm was due to a developing crack in the steel, and the right arm is clearly headed towards an identical fracture -- which would completely separate the seat back frame from the bucket seat altogether! the two steel arms are clearly made of sub-standard material. Without considering the significant cost of replacing the bucket seat, this is clearly a serious safety hazard, since at any moment the seat back could collapse completely due to sub-standard steel parts tearing apart. It is fortunate this was discovered while the vehicle was not in motion. This is definitely a safety recall issue. We have several photos of these defects, including close-ups, ready to send you upon request.

Driver's seat does not lock into place. When driving along driver's seat will suddenly and without warning slide backwards to the farthest position making it difficult for driver to reach the break and clutch. A number of near accidents have occurred when this happens making the car difficult to stop. The dealer was notified, checked the problem, and recommended that the seat be replaced at the owners expense.

The seat did not stay in place and this happened on the passenger and driver side.the manufacturer was contacted and fixed the drivers seat but they did not fix the passenger's seat. *ph there were seat release problems.when the problem was first experienced, the driver's seat made noise after the seat released.(upon acceleration, stopping going up an incline)the noise occurred prior to release.this caused the driver to be thrown away from the brake and gas pedal. *scc

Once upon a time, it 's about 2 years ago, i drove my car in highway, my car hood flip over and bend my windshield. I was shock and scared to death.my eye vision was completely blocked by flip over hood which cover all my wind shield. I can't see anything in the front.it's lucky that no others near by, i was able to manage drove slowly over on the side and stop my car.there was no signal nor alarms in my dashboard to indicated that my hood was not tightly closed so it was flipped over to bend my windshield and my windshield was stroke by hood and broken.but i was in danger to death because there was no indication and the accidenthappened and i was manage survived lived.

While driving on bumpy roads i would hear a loud clunking noise from under the car. I asked a mechanic what it was and he said it was the struts.there is a recall on this vehicle, 2002 toyota corolla for that very thing. One dealer said he wouldn't fix it.

I was in the "slow " lane on the interstate headed to school. I received a speeding ticket the day before so i made sure to on be in slow lane going speed limit. The car in front of me a red cadiliac brake and kind of hard so i brake traveling at 60 to 65 mph. I brake quick not real hard and with in seconds i realized the car was loosing control. I quickly jumped into the passenger seat as soon as i realized it was in gods hands. I then did a 360 and a 180 across all three lanes never hitting another car or truck hit the center of the interstate and rolled three times. I know that this is what happened because the women traveling behind me said she had to stop bc she didn't know how i was alive. I told them that i thought a tire had blown but really i had no clue i knew i was pissed bc my 6 month old car gone. It was the first thing i was actually buying on my own and bam. I had a sprained ankle and cut on shoulder road rash and whip lash bad. Recently i have researched and saw my car is in fact on the list. The year and model but how would you know if my exact car was defective? its been in the impound since april 2002. I feel this needs to be addressed and i should be compensated accordingly.

Squealing noise started. They could not find the noise.as it got louder they"dressed the belts" at 35,426 miles.the problem persisted, and now the stabilizer needs to be replaced.the problem has not been corrected.when i asked about the part being defective, i was told the parts original number has changed and a new one is now used.does this mean that the first one was defected and they had to make a new one to correct the problem?it is normal for the part to give be bad so soon. Since the problem started earlier?

When merced toyota applied a clear coat they damaged the paint job. They refuse to take any responsibility. When i first went to look for a car i asked them for a demo and have since found out that the vehicle they sold me was pre-owned by at least two others. The paint has been damaged on the hood, top, sides & trunk. They have stated they have all their is dotted so there is nothing they will do. They have tried to blame me stating i followed a truck leaking acid or gravel, or acid rain, it hasn't rained prior to the damage.drove over road work, i waxed the car, parked under a tree & sap did the damage. The converter exploded, all these things were said on the same day to me. If the damage was there why did they apply the clear coat? during my visit a man came in stating he did the clear coat & he tried to buff out the damage!!if you are unable to handle this type of situation please forward this and refer me to the correct places. Thank you.dt

I have a toyota corolla 2002. I noticed several service bulletin issues. What is the procedure in resolving on this matter?

I purchased a 2002 toyota corolla and found that my nasal passages burned, my mouth had a bitter chemical taste and i felt spacy when i drove the car for more than 15 minutes.i developed a headache and my lungs burned if i was in the car for 45 minutes or more.the longer i was in the car the longer it took to get rid of this toxic chemical feel in my respitory system.the dealer was willing to trade me out of this "toxic" car into a new one but even though i eagerly tried a new corolla, echo, and matrix, the new cars were even worse.i have owned brand new toyotas twice before and have driven this make for 20 years.the one i traded was purchased in 1992. Much to my shock and disbelief, the chemical offgassing inside models as old as 2000's has made it impossible for me to buy a new or even relatively new toyota.i have recently ridden in a new dodge caravan and a new volkswagan, golf without a problem.

The contact owns a 2002 toyota corolla. While the contact was driving the vehicle 50mph using the cruise control she attempted to stop the vehicle and noticed that the brakes were late to engage causing the vehicle to fish tail and crash into a mail box post. The contact was not injured and a police report was not filed. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealership and there were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 60000.

On september 22, 2009 my 2002 toyota corolla ce suddenly accelerated into my garage wall causing the car to be totaled (loss of over 7,000) per farmers insurance. [xxx] at that time was unaware of any issues with toyota's - the floor mat situation was just coming out. I reported this to toyota on 10/2/09 incident [xxx]and they had said there were no problems reported on the 2002 corolla's. I did repurchased a new 2010 and now with all the issues i feel unsafe when driving this car but am left like many others stuck with it. Toyota had a good reputation and i wish this problem would be resolved. Just wanted to let you know so this will somehow help in the ongoing search for an answer. We have a 2002 model toyota corolla le. In three instances the car sped up. The car also leaps forward once in a while.

My wife was driving a toyota corolla normally when she suddenly found that she could not reduce speed and to control thecar. The car went far off the road and hit a post. There were no other vehicles around or involved; it was day time; there were no external factors that affected the road condition, such as snow or rain. My wife was (and is) in good health, she was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs (nor does she drink alcohol or use drugs); she has a flawless driving record, and she has never received tickets or gotten into any other accidents since she has gotten her drivers license about 15 years ago.

Was parking car in garage and car surged over parking barrier before i could apply brakes.when foot finally pressed on brake engine raced, and i regained control by shlifting into neutral. Air bags did not deploy. Distance traveledapproximately 5 feet.

While traveling at 75 mph on cruise control and without any indication gas pedal traveled to floorboard, causing vehicle to accelerate to 100 mph. Consumer pushed clutch to stop vehicle, vehicle was still idling high after vehicle was stopped. The consumer stated that the problem was the accelerator jammed open and turning off. Also, the cruise control would not return engine to normal idling.

The contact owns a 2002 toyota corolla. The contact noticed that when applying pressure to the accelerator pedal, it remained stuck in the full throttle position. The contact turned the vehicle off and applied extreme pressure to the pedal in order to release it.the dealer inspected the vehicle and verified that the throttle was sticking but did not provide a diagnosis nor did they repair the vehicle.the manufacturer was notified and a complaint was filed. I drive alone yet my passenger side window failed at almost 3 years and very minimal usage. Now, at almost 6 years, my driver's side window has also failed. Cost to replace motor (per toyota dealership) is $495.00. I think toyota should investigate their source and try to upgrade, this is not standard for electric windows.

Intermittent function of passenger side window began in 2004. Total failure of passenger side window function followed. Window is completely inoperative, neither master control or passenger window control will work. Difficult to comprehend when you consider that i rarely have passengers and never use the window in question. I expect much better of toyota which is why i chose to purchase another toyota.

The front passenger window motorfailed.

Driver side automatic window stopped working without any prior problem.

While driving, the consumer noticed the driver and passenger's side rear view mirrors failed to adjust properly due to the lever for adjusting was not mounted on the mirror.this caused poor visibility while driving.the consumer was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer for inspection.

According toowners manual outside rear view mirrors have two ways to adjust them by power switch or manually.this vehicle does not have either option. Consumer states in order to adjustmirrorsconsumer must usehands. Consumer has contacted dealer. Please provide any further information.

The wiper blade was of poor quality.
