The contact owns a 2000 toyota corolla. The contact received a notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v286000 (air bags) however, the recall part was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Takata recall:i did not receive a recall notice about my airbags and i'm trying to find out if my car was ever recalled for defective airbags.toyota will only tell me if the car is under a recall presently.if it ever was, the notice might have been sent to the previous owner that i bought the car from in 2001. If there ever was a recall on the airbags, doesn't toyota still need to replace them??

Consumer was involved in a 35 mph frontal collision in whichdriver's and passenger's air bags did not deploy, cause unknown.please give any further details.

Traveling on a local hwy and a vehicle, two cars in front, made a sudden left turn causing the vehicle in front of me to lock down their brakes thus causing me to stop abruptly. My braking system locked my wheels down causing me to slide into the car in front of me at 35 mph. Upon impact, my airbags did not deploy and my seatbelt did not keep me from hitting the windshield causing injuries to my head, neck and body injuries from hitting the steering wheel. I am also pregnant. Wellness followups are being conducted. I ma taking the vehicle to the local toyota dealership to access damages and find out why the seatbelt and airbag failed to operate properly.the passengers of the vehicle in front of me also sustained injuries.

We had the delership look at vehicle four times and they claimed my wife did not know what she was talking about. The fifth time on june 2nd we took it to another delership and they said the right front strut assembly was faulty and replaced.we have also noticed the brakes do not operate normally all the time but no action has been taken. Lastly, my wife had a wreck and the air bags did not diploy. We contacted toyota and they said they would send someone out to look at the vehicle. So, far they have not been fully cooperative. In notifying you i hope that maybe no one else will be injured in a more serious accident if the car turns to be faulty. Sincerely [xxx] and [xxx]. While driving at 40-45mph and involved in a frontal collison none of the air bags deployed, and consumer sustained major injuries. Vehicle was totalled.

The problem i noticed with this vehicle, was with the brakes every time i would brakethe vehicle would not stop on command the car would continue to glide. This was reported to the dealership numerous times and the response i received was basically i did not know what i was talking about and i was imagining this problem.until this day the problem has not been resolved. The second incident happened when my fiance was in an head on collision in my car, the frontal airbag did not deploy as a result he injured his neck and back. The repairs were done on my car by the dealership ,and know my air conditioning system does not work properly and that also has been reported to the dealership and they refuse to resolve the problem which had occurred after my vehicle had been taken to them for repairs. The lights in my dash board have almost completely gone out.

My car used excessive oil, and the check engine light was on after a while that i bought it, and on friday, march 12, 2010, i parked my car at 4:00 pm and did not use it anymore and then on saturday, march 13, 2010 at 5:00 am the engine caught on fire by itself, the fire department came and put out the fire and they said that probably the fire started on the fuse system on the drivers side maybe because of a relay that may have had a short circuit.

Driving to work going 55 mph about 10 minutes into my trip i smelled a burning smell and i soon didn't have any headlight or daytime running light.took to repair shop, they replace drl module but as soon as it was connected, that new module burnt also,so i can only drive my car during daytime,i have no headlight at all,i only have signal lights and brake light.could this be a manufacturing defect.

When driving 20 mph and upon depressingbrake pedal to make a normal stopvehicle continued to accelerate which caused a rear end collision.vehicle caught on fire due tobattery leaking. Also, passenger's side seat belt did not lock which forced the passenger into the windshield. Vehicle was a total loss.please provide any further details.

Ignition switch would not turn. Dealer contacted. Feel free to provide any further information.

I purchased a used 2000 toyota corolla from a dealership in the area in april 2013 - i found that when driving in excess of 65 mph, the car started shaking and controlling it was difficult - is there a possible recall of this year/make/model that was never fixed?

Excessive oil consumption issue on our 2000 toyota corolla. Check engine light is on and indicates needing a new catalytic converter.however, that is an effect of the cause of excessive burning of oil.i add approx 1-2 quarts of oil every 250-400 miles.if highway driving,i easily add 1 quart of oil every 100 miles of driving.this appears to be an issue with 1zz-fe 1.8l engines from 1998-2002 based on numerous complaints of exactly the same issue. Since this condition does not manifest itself until out of the powertrain warranty, this will never be a warranty or recall issue unless toyota admits there was a design flaw.

2000 toyota corolla burning excessive amounts of oil. I'm having to add a quart everytime i put gas in. I drive from destination to destination for work and having to oil is a safety concern as the light does not come on until it is empty.

The 1zzfe engine design burns exessive amounts of oil.known to have poor ring design.toyota refuses to honor warranty.now i am up to 1 quart consumption per tank of fuel.

2000 toyota corolla.consumer writes in regards to cam belt fractured, ruining the engine.

My corolla started using excessive oil at about 60,000 miles.when i took it to our regular mechanic who see that the oil is changed at recommended times (i have the receipts) he could not determine why the engine was blowing oil out the back tailpipe and suggested that i take it to the local toyota dealership.the toyota dealership inspected the car, made copies of my receipts, took a picture of the oil on the back bumper, and told me it needed a new engine which was not covered under warranty.they said that toyota had agreed to cover $600 of the $5400 new engine.they charged me $90 for the inspection. This is not acceptable, when toyota clearly knows it is their defective engine, that this car should not have to have a new engine at 70,000 miles on a car that has had properly maintained maintenance. I refused to have an engine put in, we are just adding oil every day.

The car was great until 01/22/03 when out of the blue it decided choking down, white and black smoke coming from the tailpipe.toyota of hollywod (fl) the dealership swears it is from my failure to perform regular oil changes.i provided them with oil receipts from my licensed mechanic of 30+ years.they accused me of dummying up the receipts, in essence calling myself and my mechanic a liar.we met with factory reps on 01/29/03.they \\raided\\ my mechanics garage armed with cameras, demanding to see invoices -- old, new, numbered and numbered.of course, my mechanic refused.they continue to refuse to put a new motor in my car even though they have determined the reason my motor blew is from \\sludge\\.

My check engine light stays on in my vehicle inspite of replacing the part/s diagnosed in the diagnostics.

My dads 2000 toyota corolla was bought new and was driven for fours years without any problems. He took care of the car religiously and has 60 mile commute both ways to get to work and home. Everything was fine up to the middle of 2004 when the engine started use oil at an excessive rate and then, out of nowhere, it developed a rod knock. He ended up buying a new car but the corolla still had the rod knock and it was out of warranty.finally, the engine gave out and threw the connecting rod end and cap through the block, disabling the car and blocking traffic in a busy industrial area of kansas city, kansas.the corolla ended up sitting at my uncle's farm for two years until my family and i could do anything about the car.we ended up getting a used 2001 prism motor with 88,000 miles on it and swapping that motor for the blown one. Unfortunately, i knew the risk of buying a motor from a junk yard but the risk was also a double risk due to the engine's previous history. After two weeks and the motor was just being run under light load conditions and even with fresh motor oil and filter, the prism motor also developed a rod knock.the problem still exists and i have found other cars with the same motor having the same issues as my family had with our corolla.this engine has shown to be unreliable and a potential accident waiting to happen.

My toyota corolla 2000's timing belt "slipped" causing the malfunction lights to go on and the engine suddenly died on highway 17 in santa cruz.we managed to pull the car over to the shoulder of the mountainous road just in time to avoid an accident. We had our five year old son in the car!

I was driving down the highway at approximately 55 mph when my car started to accelerate by itself.i stepped on the brakes until they smoked, but the car continued to accelerate.i was so scared i was afraid to try and turn around to get to the nearest mechanic so i continued home which is a straight line and riding the brakes the entire way approximately 3 miles, got into the driveway and put the car into park at which time the car continued to surge.i shut the key off and sat there trying to compose myself.i have had it at my local mechanics and they cannot duplicate the problem.it had never happened before and hasn't since 2/11/10.my car is a 2000 toyota corolla.

Sudden increase in the rate of engine oil loss.at 120,000 km (~72,000 miles) the engine started burning oil at a rate in excess of 1 qt. Per 2,000 miles. Engine and car serviced at toyota dealer per all scheduled service since the car was bought new (all oil changes on time per schedule).the rapid change from burning no oil between changes to burning a 4 quarts between scheduled changes remains unexplained.investigating with dealer/service department for causes and remedies.

2000 toyota corolla - oil consumption. I, like a number of other owners, have experienced what i consider high oil consumption. My mileage is approximately 62,000 miles. Carbon buildup occurs on valves resulting in loud rattling (detonation) under acceleration, especially between 2500 and 3500 rpm. Dealer said there should be an expected amount of oil consumption between changes but i am adding close to 2 quarts per change. Compression test was fine, one cylinder slightly higher in pressure. Dealer said this indicated a possible sticking ring. Suggested a gm combustion chamber cleaner made by ac delco to blow out the carbon. Tried it. It worked great for 3 months. The detonation is back along with the oil consumption. Owned a 1995 corolla with ported and polished engine and it never used a drop between changes.

Bolt broke on the camshaft.

Started burning oil at the rate of about 1 quart every 750 to 1000 miles right around 60kit currently has 68k, and i just realized it was a toyota problem rather than a failure on the part of my mechanics to properly fill my oil level.i have just initiated interface with a toyota dealer and we are monitoring oil usage.

2000 toyota corolla.consumer writes in regards to while driving vehicle check engine warning light illuminated, followed by heavy smoke pouring from underneath hood and noticed radiator cap was missing due to a negligent act by an establishment who serviced his vehicle..*ldthe radiator cap was not secured after having an oil change.two independent mechanics stated the head gasket was completely destroyed and the engine block was warped and a complete engine replacement was needed as a direct result of neglecting to place the radiator cap back on the radiator.

Oil sludge in my 2000 corolla at 60,135 miles on it.i have had regular oil changes with receipts to prove it.i took the vehicle to dealership the day after the oil pressure and check engine light came on at the same time.the dealership advised that nothing they can do but replace my engine but said it would not be covered under my warranty with almost 40,000 miles left on it.they also said there was nothing they can do for me to cover it since i didn't have my oil changed at their dealership and wanted to charge me $8,000 for a new engine.i had to have my engine replaced elsewhere for $2,500.there are many complaints on this problem and toyota is refusing responsibility!

It has been "pure hell". Yes, they pulled a fast one on me, and i'm not happy right now. When i lost oil completely out of my engine the first time, i was told that they would repair the engine by rebuilding because of the oil sludge problem, and besides that, i was under the 60,000 miles warranty. The second time it was the rear end seal in the engine that they say was causing further oil leaks, that i paid for because i was over the 60,000 on the second return to toyota.they originally charged me $850, but then said they would give me a break because they believe in customer satisfaction, they charged me $336. When they gave me the loaner, i thought it was covered too, but for 9 days i end up paying $330 for the rental. I sent a certified letter to the owner, but yet no response.

The consumer's 2000 toyota corolla began to exhibit engine problems four months after the vehicle was purchased. The consumer was told the vehicle had internal engine damage and it would require rebuilding the engine.the rear brakes were replaced.

The "check engine" light on my toyota corolla le was on before i purchased it on march 26, 2009. The dealer guaranteed that once it went through the inspection, they would resolve any issue regarding any problems with the vehicle. Once they said the car passed the inspection, i picked up the car with the "check engine" light off and that same night while i was driving, it went back on. Since that day, the vehicle has had problems such as turning off completely several times, a shaking engine which causes a rattling noise, and the check engine light is on till this day. Also, i missed several days of work on account of the car not starting-i even had to boost the car for the battery to turn on. For three months now, i have spent countless of hours at their mechanics trying to fix these issues. They have only just changed the oil two times on the car, drove it around the block and -to them- found nothing. First they said it was the routers that needed to be replace. After i replaced them, the problem was still on going and they have yet to fix the check engine light or the problems the vehicle has given me. Not only do they inspect the car at their own dealer but also continue to name things that could be wrong with the car that aren't the problem. For the price of the car, it is not worth it at all. I have a 2 month old daughter in a vehicle i do not feel safe driving. I am sending a complaint so i can either get the car traded in for another one, or get my money back.

2000 toyota corolla with approximately 62,000 miles is burning 1 quart of oil every 300 miles. Compression test shows no problem. Toyota claims rings are bad but independent garage said no way. Source of leak or consumption cannot be determined.

The engine was sludged with engine oil gel.the vehicle burned 2-3 quarts of oil every 400 miles, was about 4-5 days for the repair.toyota offered an engine oil gel program for many of their other vehicles that had been changing the oil every 3-5000 miles and the engine gelled up.*scc

Vehicle has been leaking oil, leaked a very large amount of oil.in a few monthsengine was dry. Contacted dealer, anddealer was not willing to do anything.

The 2000 corolla is burning oil at a high rate.it started at approximately the 50,000 mile mark and has been getting progressively worse.

1) earlier in the year, i took car for its on-time oil change.mechanic said the car had no oil in it.did not give much thought until it happened again on the next oil change.after this oil change, i decided to take it to another mechanic.the also told me the car was out of oil & probably just leaking.they changed the oil & told me bring it in another day for them to look at it.several hundred miles before the next oil change was due, i noticed a clicking noise.i checked the oil ( the dip stick was dry) i put a quart of oil in it & drove it to this second mechanic.they told me the car had no oil leak, but the car had no oil in it.icalled the deealership & will be taking the car in this week!

I own a 2000 toyota corolla with a 1.8l engine that is full of sludge and now visibly burns 1 quart of oil every 200-300 miles and will not pass inspection due to the oil being burned in the exhaust.i have had to replace several catalytic converters due to becoming clogged from the amount of oil burning through the engine.this problem has existed since the car had about 55,000 miles on it and local toyota garage has either denied there being a problem or they have tried to sell me on numerous other expensive repairs such as front and rear main bearings and seals, allegedly warped head, etc.vehicle now has close to 100k miles.the vehicle will not now pass state emissions inspection and is essentially worthless.there are thousands of like reports in researching but never seems to have been addressed.other models and years have been included in a class action suits that was successful for the exact same issue, but i can't find that this vehicle has been successfully addressed.

I bought a 2000 toyota corolla ve in sept. 2001 with 28,000 miles on it. The car has been serviced regularly, . The engine has been consuming excessive oil. My friend has 1999 toyota corolla. Her car hadthe same problem. About one year ago, she went to a toyota dealer. The dealer told her that some toyota corolla cars around 1998-2001 have the gasket problem inside engine. After she told me, i got my car checked and the document said that oil leaks at head gasket on the back sideof engine. I dealt with toyota company and they denied.i have seen some complaints about this issue at your website. I file this complain and hopethat a recall can be ordered.

We own a 2000 toyota corolla ce. The car was functioning fine most of the time however it sometimes shuts down its engine immediately with or without much notice.sometimes the engine appears to be jerking off before it starts to die down, but it's not always the case. We have asked several mechanics about the problem (and have replaced many parts) but no one can give a definite answer for the problems. One mechanic suggested that the problem is with the computer, and there is nothing he can do about it but to replace the whole computer. We have not yet involved in any crashes or accidents (yet) because we only use the car locally since we found out about the problem. Usually we stay at the slower lane and immediately pull over when the engine dies down. It happens like once a month or so.any idea how to get toyota responsible for this?

I also called toyota about a recall. I have 72,000 miles on the car and i have already replaced the tires 4 times the first set (originals) after only 12,000 miles i have had it alignments front and back twice. I continue to have tire wear and the car is all over the road after hitting 55mph i should be on my second set of tires there is also no shock absorbant on this car even going slow you just hit hard reguardless. I can not keep the alignment right or the tires from wearing quick.the paint is already peeling and fading with rust coming up in some spots i have a six year paint protection but the dearler says its my fault the way i washed it or rocks in the road alot of excuses. My # 1 complaint with toyota though has been burning oil i can not keep oil in the engine i am replacing a quart too two quarts a week i have reguarly serviced the car and after a oil change and about 400 miles i am bone dry of oil my car has developed a knock from this when i called toyota due to my service mans advice they said well some cars are recalled with this (burning oil)but not yours and gave me a case number. There are no leaks i park the same place each day, nothing on the engine the oil is just burning up and from what my service guy says there are "several" doing this and he told all to call toyota but toyota does not want to do anything about it or recall anymore engines for this problem, although they have admited several of their models burn oil and have been recalled. I bought the car new with 5 miles on it, in my opinon this car should not be burning oil after 2 years not to the point you have no oil in your engine 2 weeks after an oil change. The car is 3 1/2 years old now but this problem started when the car had about 40,000 miles on it. I would simply just like to stop changing tires so often, keep an alignment(which of course my warranty on tires is void since the problem is alignment wear) and stop putting so much oil in my engine, or have it blow up soon.

I purchased a 2000 toyota corolla from dry ridge toyota on april 6, 2005.the salesman said the car had been through the dealer's usual process to ready the car for sale and ensure everything was in safe working order.the car had just under 51,000 miles on it.three weeks later my daughter noticed it was running rough and she began to hear noise from the engine.today, may 4, we took it to our local mechanic, less than 30 days from the date of purchase.the mechanic told us we were very lucky the engine hadn't seized or blown up--the oil was almost completely gone.there is no puddle on the driveway and no tell-tale smoke as if it were burning oil, but still the oil was gone.i have seen several similar complaints on this site for this model year and am frustrated and angry.trusting toyota's reputation, i bought this car for my 17-year-old daughter to drive.now i am not confident she is safe in this car, but i can't in good conscience sell it to someone else, either.i will contact the dealership, though judging from the posts here i also have no confidence that anything will come of that.we will monitor the oil level.

66,760 miles on the engine #3 rod bearing completely wiped out. I bought the car used 8512 miles for 5 years i managed a repair facility then owned my own so i performed the oil changes never over 3000 miles between. Toyota acknowledges a sludge problem however my car was assembled in california plant (not included in recall) and 6000 miles over powertrain warranty.two years have passed since the engine was rebuilt (crank kit, bearings, rings, oil pump, etc.) now have 76000 miles and starting to show symptoms of failure, slight noise in engine mainly at higher rpms and more after long trips when engine is good and warm.

I purchased my 2000 toyota corolla in may of 2000. Other than poor finish trimparts which are cracking and falling off, it has been a good car until now! tthe current mileage is 102000 and the car is blowing oil out the tailpipe in quantities of one(1) quart per 100-150 miles. I was told by the service manager at my dealer( ralph hayes toyota of anderson), that there was not any recalls of this vehicle, although there is a recall on camery, seinna and another one. After viewing the number of posts of this same problem on your site, i see that my problem is not the only one. I kept the oil changed every 3500 to 5000 miles(filter included), as i have with all my vehicles and have never had a problem as this( my 1986 nissan pu has 296000 miles on it with no problems. What can be done to correct this problem? it is not an isolated problem.

The assistant service manager told me that this is not the first time this has happened to this model. No safety defec tlisted.

We bought a 2000 toyota corolla ve in september. It has the base 1.8lengine and automatic transmission, and about 63,000 miles. One thing the seller didn't tell us was the car was an oil burner. Now here's the kicker. On hot or cold, as in 10 f cold, starts, there is no smoke or odor. There are no drips, puddles, or splashes in the engine compartment or on the ground. I had a service garage look at it and they said the compression was equal across all four cylinders and well within manufacturer??s tolerances. The local toyota dealer claimed the rings were bad. The car is, however, going through about a quart of oil every 250 ?? 300 miles. I switched to 10w ?? 40 from 5w ?? 30 and dumped some restore in the crankcase, but no change.checking with several auto and toyota forums indicates this is a widespread problem with corollas.

I bought a 2000 toyota corolla ve in august 2001 with 33,000 miles on it.the car has been serviced regularly, oil changes etc.on may 27, 2003, the vehicle stopped on the interstate after making a terrible noise in the engin.the toyota dealer now says the engine needs to be replaced because of lack of lubrication.the vehicle had an oil change two weeks before and there was no oil in the car two weeks later.the engine has been using excessive oil.we have had to add oil regularly.the dealer now wants $2500 to replace the engine in a car that is three years old.this is ridiculous.i found one other complaint on your website of excessive oil consumption in a 2000 corolla, but i am sure there are many more toyota engines out there waiting to blow up.

Engine check light came on. Tookvehicle to dealer, anddealer reset engine check light, when they should have done a dianostic test.dealer stated oil was not getting intoengine.engine was replaced.please provide any further information.

Dt:the contact stated there has been a tapping noise in the engine for nearly two years.when the vehicle was cold the noise was loud.but,as the enginewarmed up the noise becamesofter.however, the tapping noisebecame louder.the contact took the vehicleto the dealership, and they couldnot find a the causeof the problem. He took the vehicle to a local mechanic, and he suggested he look up technical service bulletin (tsb)628673 concerningthe belts and associated pulleys.the vehicle has not been back to the mechanic for repairs at this time.

Serpentine drive belt along with its hydraulic tensioner gives clattering noise on cold start and low speed acceleration. There has been a tsb eg01501 about this issue. Toyota certified mechanic told me it is very dangerous driving with this noise. The belt tensioner may break, which can cause severe crash.

Year 2004: engine light came on. $1,500 for repair.year 2007: engine stopped. Power steering pump make noise. $2,000 for replacement of the both parts.

At 70,000 miles on my 2000 toyota corolla the check engine light comes on, when reviewing the current problems with my certified mechanic, i mentioned that i was using a quart of oil about every 600 miles. He said that itwould cost between $3,000-6,000 to fix the problem. In under 2,000 more miles it became add a quart of oil each tank. At 84,000 miles the head went out on this motor, three different mechanics from different shops couldn't believe a toyota motor would need a new head at this distance. I replaced the head. The knocking sound disappeared for a while, the oil consumption went down for a while.again with the check engine light. And back to a quart per tank. After a while the car started to shut off by its self. No steering, scared the heck out of me. I live in a region with embankments which reach over 200' with trees. I had to stop driving the car because it was no longer safe to drive.i cannot believe that the corolla motors have such a bad reputation. The toyota truck i owned ran like a champ at 200,000 when i sold it, it still runs today. While the corolla needs a new motor. There must be a design flaw to create so many similar oil problems.

I purchased a 2000 corolla i had to have the charcoal cannister replaced and the purge valve emission unit replaced at great expense...the check engine light comes on regularly and i am told it is the purge valve or the gas cap...i have always had toyotas and i have spent more on this vehicle in one year of driving than any other.

The 2000 toyota corolla i own has evaporator codes going off in the engine. After reading up on the situation found that toyotamakde faulty charcoal canisters for models in 1998 to 2002.

(1) my check engine light came on unexpectedly while i was driving under 35 mph. I took the car (a toyota corolla ce) to the dealership where i bought it, new, in the summer of 2000.(2) the dealer stated that the charcoal canister needed to be replaced.(3) the dealer replaced the charcoal canister at a cost of $460.20, parts and labor.i'm reporting this because i know that lots of other corolla owners have had the same problem. The canister is part of the emissions system but is not covered under the emissions warranty. It seems as though way too many toyota's are affected for this to be passed off as a coincidence. I called toyota to complain but they weren't able to help.

Me 2000 toyota corolla has a leak in the pipe containing the cat converter and resonator.when my car was manufactured, the exhaust system contained these parts in one long piece.being that the leak is in this pipe, near the resonator, i brought it to the dealer to be replaced under warranty.my car is well within the years and mileage for warranty replacement.the dealer says that toyota now makes the replacement part only in 2 pieces, not in one piece as was installed in my car.they tell me that because of this, i must pay to have the pipe replaced.i feel that because toyota made this pipe in one piece on my car, that the replacement of the piece, weather by original manufactured method or by the now two piece method, should be covered under the federal emission warranty and be repaired at no cost to me.please respond as to weather toyota can do this or if they are trying to get the consumer to pay for something that should be covered.thank you

Dt*:the contact stated the check engine light illuminated.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined the charcoal canister needed to be replaced.

I have noticed my right rear window is not sliding down or up. When i took for 60k miles service dealer told me motor failed and it cost me $500. And it is very common in toyota corolla. At 66k check engine light started glowing. Dealer said i need to replace charcoal evaporator canister which is part of emission system and it is going to cost me $400. I will never buy toyota again.

In feb 2002 my car engine siezed up 58 miles over the warranty.i had to replace the engine but still had a problem with my car.as a matter of fact, since i purchased the car, the engine light was lite up and it was explained to me that it was because of the gas cap not working properly.since this is the 1st car i had purchased, now being seperated, i accepted it.anyways, after i replaced the engine, the car still had a problem of burning oil.i keep oil in the car because i couldnt take it back to a shop since i just paid $3000 for an engine.since feb, i had to have my emissions test done in may, i failed, explaining my catalit converter or something within there was causing problems.since then, my car runs good but still has the oil problem and taps which no one could tell me the problem.now today, my car breaks down again, engine seized and no warranty or nothing and i still owe on this car.is there any help i can get on this situation?

Motor defect - the millions of toyota vehicles with this motor defect destroying our air... Exceeding known pollution limits. You must recall these motors, and have toyota fix them. They refuse to fix mine... How many millions of vehicles will you allow to destroy the air we breathe? this motor burns and dumps out the exhaust 3 quarts of oil every 200 miles. It has coated the o2 sensor... It has destroyed the catalytic converter... How much oil needs to be dumped into the catalytic converter before a fire starts? it is a known motor defect. Why have you not recalled. They will not fix this motor... How many vehicles will you allow to do this? please save our cities!

While driving consumer smelled gasoline fumes from the vents. Consumer took the vehicle for state inspection of emission control, and vehicle failed due to high octane.consumer drove the vehicle todealer, and mechanic determined that the filter needed to be replaced.

Floor mat moved and hinder the gas pedal.

When traveling in rain or on wet roads such as i-95, steering, air conditioning, alternator and brakes fail.apparently water on the power belt causes it to slip and renders the components to be inoperative until the water is removed. This has caused many close calls such as making a left turn onto another street and losing the steering when half way through the turn heading me to pedestrians on the sidewalk. At the same time the air conditioner/defroster quits and the windshield fogs until the a/c is manually reset. Adding to the problem .i reported this problem to the service manager who replied that he had never hear of a similar problem and that he would check for information with toyota and get back to me, six months ago he never did.i believe a record of this malfunctioning component should be made as i can not believe that other corolla owners do not have the same dangerous problem.dt

Headlights arenot even. Driver's side light is too low. Passenger's side light is too high. It's very uneven lighting while driving. Took to dealer & informed by mekchanic there was a safety reason why it was designed that way. Was not corrected.the dealerstated that the drivers side head light islower than the passenger side to prevent the light from shiningon to oncoming drivers..

While driving uphill or downhill, even withhigh beams on, there is visual difficulty which may cause acrash, possibly due to design ofheadlights.dealer saidheadlights metrequired standards and regulation.the technician adjusted the lights.

Consumer complains that there is limited distance that can be seen due to the design of the headlights, dealer raised lights, however problem is not resolved.

While driving at night noticedheadlights were uneven.passenger's side was too high whiledriver's was low. This interfered with visibility. Took todealership.mechanic indicated for safety reason it was made like that. Head light will not shine into oncoming driver's vision.

There is no switch invehicle that turnsheadlights off and on.only way to turn off headlights is to shut offengine. This is unsafe because in a dust storm oneis suppose to turn headlights off. Also, ifconsumer shuts down vehicle in very hot weather hewillsuffer from the heat.please provide any further information.

My check engine light stays on in my vehicle inspite of replacing the part/s diagnosed in the diagnostics.

Check engine light on my 2000 toyota corolla lit up shortly after i purchased the car in may 2003.i brought it back to the dealership 3 times - they dismissed it as a minor problem all 3 times and simply reset the light.each time, the light would light back up within several days.in september 2003, i brought it to a local mechanic, who informed me that the charcoal canister (adjacent to the fuel tank, part of the fuel system, used to gauge fuel vapors) needed replacement, since some gas spilled into it.the job was done (~$300), but the light came back in a couple of weeks.i brought the car to a toyota dealership in june 2004, because it wouldn't pass inspection with the check engine light on.the mechanic informed me that the charcoal canister was the problem, "probably because somebody topped the tank off while filling up."he added that the charcoal canister not only had fuel in it, but was, in fact, "filled with gasoline."the local mechanic, once again, did the job (~$300).the light came back within two weeks.i never top off the tank when i fill up.my research has provided some limited answers: charcoal canister is located very close to the fuel tank.usually, the codes returned by the car's computer areevap control system malfunctionevap control system incorrect purge flowevap control system vent control circuit malfunctionwhich point to a problem with the switching valve that vents the canister.if the valve doesn't work, the canister isn't vented and enough fumes collect to cause the canister to stop functioning.many others have this problem.toyota does not seem to have any explanation about this, nor has the company taken any action.meanwhile, to get my car back into "good standing," i'm looking at yet another ~$300 bill.

Car stalls after filling with gas.toyota has repaired twice.refuses to repair again. Claims owner over filling ank, but tank has been filled by two different drivers - both taking care not to "top-off" or overfill and still problem sporadically occurs.engine stall out is unexpected.mostly occurs when stopping or at low speeds, but has happened at freeway speeds leading to a need to try to suddenly pull over to the berm without being struck by oncoming traffic.toyota currently refusing to repair vehicle or explain why ordinary use causes this problem.awaiting a response

Complaint regarding the replacement of the carbon canister on the 2000 toyota corolla.***no answer required***. *mrwhile attempting to fill up gasoline tank at the service station, could only get in 1 or 2 gallons of gasoline.the consumer was astonished to discover it was not a pump malfunction since the pump would shut off.tried another pump, the same problem occurred.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined that the carbon canister had failed.

The shift gear would not go into gear while driving. I was unable to shift gear only when the engine was on. The car suddenly stopped completely while it was in motion. I was able to start but i was unable to drive due to the inability to gear shifting regardless of how deep the clutch pedal was pressed. There was a policeman present at time of incident who helped me pushed the car off to the side to avoid further traffic block.

Vehicle rolled backwards approximately 20 feet while gear shift was in park position and the engine was idling. Drivers door was damaged when vehicle rolled backwards into a ditch.dealership inspected gear shift mechanism and could not find any defect or problem.

2000 toyota corrolla in head on crash at 40 mph. Air bag did not deploy and seat belt broke.

Toyota corolla 2000 gives false seat belt warning. Seat belt warning blinks eventhough seat belt is secured. False warning (in all the safety regulations that i have studied) is just as bad since trust can not be relied on.

The contact owns a 2000 toyota corolla.during a crash at 15 mph, the air bags failed to deploy and the seat belts malfunctioned.a police report was filed.due to the lack of restraint by the seat belt, the contact severely injured her ribs and had to be hospitalized for two days.the contact called the sales dealer and they were not cooperative.the current and failure mileages were 70,000.

Two weeks ago involved in a rear end incident. Brake light was lit and when taken to the dealer the brake pads were worn and the rotors were warped. Could this have prevented a delay or a stop that may have contributed to the accident?

On several occasions the steering wheel would vibrate while braking, it was determined by the dealer that the front rotors were warped and needed to be replaced.

It appears as if the steering wheel is not in proper control and vehicle seems to wander at higher speeds. When making turn, at timesthe vehicle will turn a lot and sometimes it would turn in lot lesser i.e. I would not have proper judgment of how muchvehicle would turnand this becomes very much evident when making turn at slightly higher speeds then 30-35 miles/hour..i have done everythingmy dealer and my auto mechanics had suggestedlike changing the tires twice , replacing rotor, brake pads, getting alignment done etc.please let me know if you have any further questions regarding this complaint.

While driving 45-50 mph onfreewayvehicle became erratic.steering became very loose. Please provide any further information.

When driving under windy conditions vehicle becomes hard to steer, it begins weaving left and right. Dealer has been contacted.

I purchased a used 2000 toyota corolla from a dealership in the area in april 2013 - i found that when driving in excess of 65 mph, the car started shaking and controlling it was difficult - is there a possible recall of this year/make/model that was never fixed?

Vehicle was purchased on 7/1/05 and since then has been in the shop to be fixed 4 different times and due to go back in again on 9/20/05 for the same problems...i took the car in on 28 july 05 and told service dept that i thought it was the rack and pinion steering and the checked it said it was the sway bar links and would order.....went back in on the 8 aug 05 and sway bar links put in and service dept said there was still a noise and needed it back when they had more time with it so it was taken back on 16 aug 05 and at that time check engine light was on also so they supposedly replaced plugs as they said it was misfiring and they checked rack and pinion and said they found that it needed it needed steering rack so it was ordered and went back in on 24 aug and check engine light was on again also and they said it was misfiring again....replaced plugs once more and supposedly replaced steering rack but since then i have still noticed the handling of car is not right in the steering as i feel like i have to constantly fight the steering wheel..very hard to handle on uneven and gravel roads and the check engine light came on once again and i have called them and they will look at it again on the 20 sept 05...i do not feel safe in this vehicle...i have all paperwork involved with all the dates.

The steering suddenly became very heavy when my wife was driving. It would not turn left or right. We took it to nearest garage. That is goodyear tyre service. They informed me that the power steering pump is not working and needs to be fixed. I called toyota motor and logged a complaint. Case # 200507130358

Single vehicle collision involving year 2000 toyota corolla.occupant in vehicle indicates decedent driver made statement that he was unable to turn steering wheel thus causing collision.independent witness following behind the vehicle indicates that vehicle drifted to the side of the road for long period of time immediately prior to collision consistent with a movement which would be caused by a locking and non-functioning steering wheel.we understand other year 2000 toyota vehicles are being recalled with a defect involving a locking of the steering wheel.collision caused one death (driver), two children were sent to the trauma center at uc davis hospital in sacramento california, one adult front passenger remains at uc davis hospital in sacramento california in serious condition.california highway patrol was notified of this information but appears not to be taking any action regarding inspection of vehicle.vehicle and component are preserved intact near sacramento california and are available for inspection.

While driving steering wheel unexpectedly locked on its own. Conumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and had it towedto the dealer for inspection. Mechanic was unable to duplicate the problem. Consumer informedmechanic that the problem recurred.consumer stated that she was almost killed as a result of the steering wheel locking while she was driving at a rate of 55 mph.*tc

Installed floor mat causes the accelerator pedal to stick at full throttle. This could easily cause an accident.

For six years the steering wheelwobbled loosely.the auto had only 15000 on it when the problem arose.we continued to drive the auto.the vehicle was taken to a dealership after initial 3 year warranty period , and they announced that the rack and pinion system was worn out, but would not stand behind the vehicle.toyota quality is an urban myth.

The vehicle keeps bogging out. The fuel system keeps failing and the struts sound and feel like they are going to collapse

I purchased my brand new 2000 toyota corolla ce on may 20,2000. Within 4 to 5 days later i noticed when i was reaching speeds of 65-70mph on the highway my car would sway and wander down the lane of traffic. It has a push/pull effect to it. When this problem arises it is very hard to keep the vehicle on the road. I am constantly over compensating to try and keep it straight and in my lane. I have had this vehicle into my dealer that i purchased it many times. They have taken air out of the tires, aligned the front end, aligned the rearend and camber. I have contacted toyota themselves and met with the dpm of toyota who drove my vehicle and realized that there was a definite problem with my car. She then told me that they contacted the technical dept and he told them that there were cases of this same problem in toyota canada. At that point she told me that they were not going to do anything with my vehicle other than to notify their engineer of the problem.

The car does not take bumps well at all.it feels like the suspension is very soft, and we bottom out while going very reasonably slow, on two or three occasions now.

Car was purchased from used car "superstore"; purchaser paid for "128 point inspection" and car was declared "certified" by dealer.dealer issued 100,000 mile powertrain warranty with purchase of this "certified" used vehicle, measured from first owner use of vehicle; warrantied until 2005; vehicle had 32000 miles when purchased.from time of delivery in march 2003, car had "shimmy" in front end at 68-74 miles per hour.on returning to dealer first time on 3/20/2003, dealer said it was wheel balance problem, but dealer said could not test above 65 mph because that was above local speed limit.dealer also said that they spin balanced wheels at about 55 mph equivalent because spin balance machine did not spin any faster.problem was not corrected at all; owner then went to another service shop on 4/12/2003 and paid for all wheel alignment and two front wheel spin balance; problem still not corrected.owner returned to dealer on 5/06/2003 with same complaint.dealer said could not do anything further.owner subsequently tried rotating wheels front to back, problem not corrected.owner believes that alignment and balance are now ruled out as problems; that, most probably, front suspension was and is defective, causing "shimmy", now readily detectable between 65-75 mph.probably a safety issue at current highway speeds.

Toyota corolla ce at about 30k miles. Rattling sound occurs from the rear of vehicle while driving. Sound disappears when break pedal is applied. Sound comes on and off unexpectedly. Have taken vehicle to sears auto department, was told it's due to break pad wear, replaced all four pads, but the sound returned as soon as i drove out of sears parking lot. Have been to the auto department several times and the problem is still not solved. Since the sound is not effecting steering and breaking,i'm still driving the vehicle, hoping nothing bad will happen.

Rides louder than huv, changed from michelins to perrelli p400 and still have the same noise,it kind of sounds like a rock in the tread but it isn't.don't know if is cv joints or whatever but toyotas are supposed to last forever.my wife drives vehicle thats why i haven't found the problem yet....thanks.

While driving about 55 mph right rear tire explodedwithout a prior warning.consumer kept control of vehicle. Then, took vehicle tonearest shop where they said that tire could not be repaired, and could not determine what caused the explosion.p-175/65r14, toyota, corolla, 2000. Tires are michelin mx4.

Firestone tires (p175/65r14) experienced a blowout due to tread separation, consumer requested a replacement of all 4 tires with a brand other than firestone, however the request was denied, currently the vehicle has only 12000 miles.

The vehicle keeps bogging out. The fuel system keeps failing and the struts sound and feel like they are going to collapse

No incident, i have a general complaint about automobile standards all over the world.

My automobile is a 2000 toyota corolla. I was driving on an ordinary road at perhaps 35 - 40 miles per hour when there was a sudden loud bang and my driver's side window exploded into hundreds of pieces scattering glass onto my lap and into the interior of the car. I did not hit a bump and did not see any other vehicles that could have thrown a stone against the window. I drove a short distance back to my home and called the police because i thought that i might have been hit by a bullet. The investigating officer stated that this occurs occasionally as a spontaneous event. I am not sure that is the explanation and wonder if your organization has any similar cases on file ? the window involved was my left side - i couldn't seem to correct the comment that it was the right side.

I have 2000 toyota corolla le which i bought in year 2000. Since, past 5 years i have problems with windows driver side and passenger side (back of driver side) to go up and down.i thought it was a motor problem but few days ago my friend had also the same problem.he also bought the same year corolla with me during same time.he had got fixed motor, but still he has the same problem.i don't know if there is any defective parts in this make, and model of 2000 toyota.because of that sometimes, my windows remained open and when it rained it has ruined internal parts.

The power window switch on driver side stopped working. The window will not go up or down. Happens randomly and after 20 mins everything works.

Drivng at 30mph in no construction no construction equipment around, no chip in windshield no previous crack. Noticed while driving a small crack develop on windshield next to the right molding toward the bottom.instantly it traveled staight across all the way over to the left side window molding.the window itself feels brittle like junk!ive been driving for over 40 years and had many different cars in many different conditions, and never have i seen a crack shoot across my windshield when nothing hit it, or had no previous crack.

Dt:consumer states that when he went to wash the vehicle the windshield fractured and cracked. This occurred on july 7, 2005.consumercontacted the manufacturer and was told vehicle was no longer under warranty, and they did not know why it happened.

No crash.annual "safety inspection" in virginia requires removal of wheels on one side of vehicle for brake inspection.wheel studs have been damaged at nearly every inspection from overtightening using ordinary equipment at the station and using normal procedures.apparently, toyota did not make the studs strong enough for annual removal and installation using uncontrolled air impact wrenches.i have replaced 5 wheel studs so far an i am concerned that there could be more.loss of more than a few wheel studs could result in loss of a wheel and a serious crash.
