The contact owned a 1999 toyota corolla. While the driver was parking the vehicle, the front passenger removed her seat belt.the driver inadvertently mistook the accelerator pedal for the brake pedal. As a result, the vehicle accelerated to an estimated 30 mph and crashed into a pole. The air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained a fractured sternum. The front passenger sustained seven facial bone fractures, a fractured nose, free air in her sinus cavity, basilar skull fractures, fractures to both patellas, blood clot in the left leg, pulmonary embolism, and a laceration to the lower lip. Medical attention was required for both the driver and the passenger. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was towed to an insurance facility. The failure mileage was approximately 315,000. ....updated 07/05/16 ...updated 08/02/16*as
Was traveling 15-20mph and rear ended another vehicle. This caused hood latch to releasehood, and it popped backwards towardswindshield.also, left headlighthad popped out. Consumer states air bag did not deploy nad suffered minor injuries.
I keep getting recall notices, dealer says no fix available. With all the recallnotices my wife and i fell we are driving a car that is not safe, it is an accident waiting to happen.
Passenger airbag sensor damaged in collision, thus preventing airbag deployment.
No deployment of airbag during front end collision.airbag sensor was damaged in the collision yet the airbag still didn't deploy.nlm

I purchased a previously owned 1999 toyota corolla ve 4-door sedan for my daughter. The vehicle has approximately 89,000 miles, is in fair condition, and is not rebuilt to my knowledge. My daughter was involved in an accident in which the vehicle was totaled resulting from front-end damage, but neither airbag deployed. Luckily, she was not injured but i feel that the airbag system failed to work properly and if the accident had been any worse, their failure to deploy could have resulted in serious injury. The vehicle is no longer drivable and is awaiting the insurance appraisal.
While driving 5 mph consumer's vehicle was involved in a head on collision. Upon impact, dual airbags did not deploy.driver sustained upper body injuries.
Consumer was involved in a side impact collision, impact 55 mph in which neither driver's nor passenger's side air bags deployed, resulting in injuries to the driver's side occupant. Consumer has yet to contact the dealer. Please provide any further details.
While driving 10 mph and making a turn, the vehicle suddenly accelerated up 25-30 mphand hit a tree. Uponfrontal impact, driver's and passenger's airbags did not deploywhich did not protect the occupant.prevouisly had electrical problemswhich caused the door locks/ windows and the radioto become inoperative. Please provide further information and vin#.
Vehicle experienced brake failure prior to accident, however dealership could not identify problem, loss of brakes resulted in vehicle rear end collision, no deployment of both air bags during collision resulting in injury. *mjs
Was in a head on collison and driver/passenger air bags failed to deploy.when car was first purchased air bag light kept coming on.took car to dealership and the service department said that nothing was wrong.
Airbagdeployed for no reason, and the dust made the consumer very sick . Dealerwas contacted, and asked what type of gas was used for the insideof airbag.
Air bag light continues to come on periodically despite 2 previous wiring repairs.

Currently i own 1999 toyota corolla , model -ce which was originally used vehicle and was @8500 miles on it at the time of purchase. Car was in good running condition until on 8/29/09 car stopped suddenly while moving and smokes came out from engine hood.without wasting time, insurance company was contacted immediately and car was towed to the repair shop. Repair shop personnel inspected quickly and i was told that wiring of the harness cable near the engine has been overheated and some have melted due to malfunctioning of solenoid on the starter which also caused battery to be overheated. I touched hood and it was very hot. We were lucky on that day otherwise battery could have exploded should wewould have tried another attempt to start a vehicle. I had my wife and two kids in the car. As of now, repair shop is not sure about total extent of the damage and asking @$736.00 includes replacement of battery and starter as well as labor towards finding, replacing by soldering misc harness cables.after doing this much, they will check again the vehicle to make sure problem is resolved, otherwise they have to continue to chase untilcar is fixed. This leads to uncertainty of cost and reliability of the vehicle even after repair. This event could have resulted into tragic incident for my family where my wife and two kids were in the car during the event. As of now, i was advised by original car seller rep, repair shop and few friends to sell it off in as is condition or after repair. As of now, car seller is offering $300.00 for the car in as is condition.i am still wondering while wires overheated suddenly and smoked. I just did oil change a few days ago. Per insurance company, this damage is not covered under insurance and have to take care personally. This is a huge cost burden with unknown reason.
Replaced three denso starters in 1/2010, 9/2006, and 9/2003 in '99 toyota corolla with only 90k mileage in car.i believe these starters are defective because in 2003 mechanic replaced original denso starter with remanufactured denso.i had 42k mileage on car.he inspected the starter and the invoice states that the starter was defective.i emailed denso salesperson to complain about the product and request reimbursement.he said no because there is only 12k warranty on starter.again i had a starter replaced in 2006, and 2010.something is seriously wrong that i am replacing starters every three years.i have never had to replace a starter in my life.i want this company investigated and want my money back.
While driving, all lighting systems was out service. Instrumental lights/ head lights/ brake light and signal light. Dealer notified.
The car was bought new from the dealer in ca. No problems were incountered until the horn became intermittent and then stopped working completely. I brought the cat to a toyota dealer in south carolina to have it repaired while it was under warrenty. A yearlater the horn has become inoperative once again. This is the second time the same component has stopped working.
1) key would sometimes not turn in ignition. This became more and more frequent.) eventually the key would not turn to start the car and i could not remove it and had to call a tow truck.3) the first time the ignition was under warranty and replaced free of charge.the 2nd time they gave me more trouble about it but fixed it free of charge. The third time they suggested that i change the key which i allowed them to do and i haven't had a problem since but they did charge me part of the cost. I belive the "key" and ignition system obviously had a design flaw. I don not have the old parts but i do have records of the repairs.
While turning vehicle offkey andignitoin switch were very hot to touch. Dealer has been notified. Please provide further information.
The contact owns a 1999 toyota corolla. The contact stated that after the vehicle was serviced for an oil change and driving an additional 800 miles, the contact discovered that the vehicle was burning oil rapidly. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 135,000.
Oil light came on at $60,000, kept loosing oil even though i had regular oil changes at the dealership. Found out car is burning oil and it is going to cost me $750 to replace valve seals (which may or may not fix problem). Toyota will not cover this because warranty time is up. I will never buy another toyota!!!
No summary listed for above vehicle.
My engine makes rattling noise since it reached 30,000 miles. The noise only comes for first 10 minutes when the car is cold. I reported this problem to carousel toyota, pa during warranty period. Since at that time the noise did not come they could fix it as noise only comes when car is cold. Now my car is out of warranty and engine still makes rattling noise.
While driving 35 mph the vehicle stalled without warning and became difficult to control.the dealer was notified.*nlm
Enginecylinders was receiving inadequate amount of oil due to a defective camshaft, causing loss of compression while vehicle was in motion. Engine needs to be replaced.
We bought a 1999 toyota corolla with 19,509 miles on september 30, 2002 from an independent used car dealer.the check-engine light came on the same day we bought the car so we took the corolla to the nearest toyota dealership, jay toyota of columbus, georgia to have the engine inspected the day after we bought the car.on our way to the dealership, we noticed excessive smoke from the tail pipe and "jerky" acceleration.the service department told us that the engine was in poor condition due to sludge damage and even admitted that toyota co. Has been having sludge problems in toyota engines.however, the service department told us that toyota manufacturer's warranty does not honor engine failure due to sludge damage.their estimate for repair was $2500-$5800.the service department recommended that we not drive the corolla anymore than necessary before we have the engine repaired because they said the engine may fail due to the sludge.we didn't have the engine repaired, but we did send an oil sample in for oil analysis.although the oil we sent in only had 314 miles on it, the levels of fuel and iron in the oil were considered high.according to the analysis an oil sample from a gasoline engine should contain less than 2% fuel, our sample with only 314 miles on it already had fuel percentage of 2.8.the universal average for iron is 9 parts per million, our oil had 34 parts per million of iron. It seems to us that our corolla is having the same type of problem as the models that toyota company has agreed to include in its program in which certain engine models with sludge damage can be repaired or replaced by toyota at no cost.after visiting some car review and car survey sites and performing some searches on the web, we found that we were not the only corolla owners having problems with engine sludge.we believe corolla should not be excluded from toyota's sludge program.*nlm
Whiletravelingand trying to pass another vehicle at the speed 65 mph. Vehicle stalled without indication. Please provide further information.
The makes to much noise driving at 65mps cant drive over 60mps
The vehicle caught fire in the engine compartment. The car was a complete loss.
My engine failed while driving on i 95.lack of oil to the engine because of a broken timing chain was the stated cause.oil had been recently changed and when checked was full on the dipstick.milage 64,000. Manual recomends checking the timing chain at 80,000 miles.
Tension retainer bolt broke.
Corrosion caused the failure of the driver's side bolt holding the muffler strap on both my 1998 and 1999 toyota corolla in april 2004 and april 2005 respectively. Fortunately i was at low speed in 2004 so the damage wasn't great and in 2005 my wire fail safe prevented an exhaust drop. Stainless steel is required for this fastener or more muffler holding devices.
My car is 9 yrs old, 109,000 miles it's on the lower end of the recommendation mileage for the year of the car. On 9/3/08 first day the check engine light ever came on. I got nervous went to advanced auto parts and they checked the light, it showed something was wrong with the air flow. Check engine light went out after 3 days. Brought it to toyota for repairs of some other items and mentioned the check engine light going on and then off. They checked it but wasn't sure if it was reading correctly. 4 days later came back on again and went out 3 days later. 2 days passed and then it came back on again and remained on ever since. I brought it back and they told me it was a charcoal canister failure and it would cost $450, i was upset because i just got $968 worth of repairs and maintenance done. I always keep up on my maintenance work/oil changes. Is this a faulty part from toyota? i've never heard of this going and if it is normal after so many years/miles then why is it so expensive and hard to find or repair? i heard only toyota has the part which was quoted to me as $232. So if i don't pay $450 my vehicle won't pass inspection/emission test. Can someone help!
Upon seeing the "check engine" light on i took my 1999 toyota corolla (50,200 miles) to a local toyota dealership for diagnostics.the report indicated that the charcoal canister needed to be replaced. The repair costs are almost $500 with labor.this part is not under warranty past 3 years and 30000 miles.although this is not a safety issue, it is an environmental and fuel efficiency concern and i think that the company should include it in its extended warranty.i am trying to shop around for a cheaper estimate. I have performed all the recommended maintainence schedules and am concerned that this was not addressed during routine maintainence.
Engine light comes on from time to time on its on due to failures of the charcoal canister/evaporative solenoids. The charcoal canister seems to be a common complaint. The car will run just fine (depending on the type of failure), but if you have emissions testing, the car will fail.many toyota owners seem to be having this similar trouble due to some flaw in the toyota icu programming.if you search on the net for the similar problem, many links will show up.-----------------http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/reliability.aspx?year=1999&make=toyota&model=camry&trimid=-1-----------------http://www.cartrackers.com/forums/live/toyota/600.html. -----------------
Purchased my car used on 2002. The car never had any problems until in january 2004, the charcoal canister needed to be replaced. This was at the same time the a/c system needing to be replaced. The a/c system was covered under an extended warranty, however the emission problems were not. I have had problems with the check engine light continually going on and off since this has been replaced. I have taken it back to be checked, the mechanic tells me there is nothing wrong with my car. However, the light continues to arise. The light stayed off for approximately 2-3 months and has now started its on and off again show. The research i have begun has opened my eyes to a whole new world of charcoal canisters being replaced as fast as people change underwear. This replacement cost about $467-/ with labor. As far as i can tell this is the going rate for this job. I am upset to see so many people in the same 'canister' as i and toyota, with whom i love their cars, are not making any adjustments nor standing up to the plate to assist their consumers. I work in a consumer protection agency and know personally how people and businesses take advantage of one another. I ask toyota to look into this problem thoroughly.
No accidents, all maintenance done as specified in manual.check engine light on for several months.first time toyota dealer said it was loose gas cap.came back on.next time they said it was charcoal canister (cost $736).light returned.now they say it is some valve and is going to cost another $700 -800 to fix.
Dt: evap cannister also called a charcol cannister failed at 67000miles on car.the engine check light kept comming on and now the car will not pass inspection. Dealer told her it was due to design flaw in evap cannister. Has not contacted manufacturer yet.
My 1999 toyota corolla has its check engine light on for the two years. The code is p0446/0441 and when winter comes it goes away and re appears in summer. I first noticed that around 36000 miles. The dealer says it is a canister problem, but could be something else and i see that there a lot of toyota owners who are seeing the same compliant.also for the last 2 days i see that the seat belt not put sign start to flash even if you have the seat belt on.
I have a 99 toyota corolla ve and it was fine until a week ago when a malfunction indicator lamp lit up. I took my car to a mechanic where the car electronic system was checked. It showed that my car has a evap control system vent control circuit malfunction. According to the mechanics, it would cost me 400-500 dollars to fix it besides a good amount of money just for a diagnostic test. After the check up, the malfunction indicator was off but then come back later. I learned that many other toyota cars have the same problems and also the malfunction indicator light still on even after fixing the problem. This is a problem of a faulty circuit that would not allow the canister to vent and that causes gas to become trapped in the canister and makes it break down. Thus, resulting in the charcoal canister not working properly. I don't know how safe driving my car if the problem persists and it would cause problem with smog check, gas, fire... *la
Took vehicle in for mandatory state e-check to renew license plate tags.check engine light was on and therefore, would automatically fail inspection.e-check attendant ran test anyhow as a diagnostic check.results indicated emmisions problem.took vehicle along with e-check results to conrad's for repair.mechanic found no emissions trouble.mechanic did find faulty central computer in vehicle responsible for false results and suggested possibility of other warning lights, indicators, and guages could be affected.conrad's found bulletin statement from toyota admitting 1999 corolla computer failure, however no recall.toyota has been contacted by owner, as well as conrad's, and verified they are aware of problem.toyota has not assumed cost for replacement, estimated at $1200.00.vehicle can not pass e-check until computer is replaced, therefore, tags can not be renewed, even though there is no emission trouble.

Brake light comes on while driving and emergency brake is not on. Also, sometimes at the same time of the brake light, ve encountered the interior light flashing on and off while driving and the door light coming on/off, when all doors are obviously secure and i am driving the car. Was told by advance auto it was most likely a wiring issue and not a fuse problem.

Dt: the vehicle caught on fire on october 6, 2005. The vehicle wasn't driven any different before this incident happened. The vehicle had been sitting for about two hours before it caught on fire. The fire chief did an inspection on october 7, 2005, and he concluded that it was a fuel line break. She contacted the dealership and the manufacturer and told them what happened, they told her that someone would come out and inspect the vehicle. She felt that they were ignoring her because no one came out and inspected the vehicle yet. Shereceived a letter after she contacted the manufacturer from toyota, but the letter was addressed to someone else, and it explained the same type of problem that she had.the insurance companyinspectedvehicle but she did not know what their findings were.she only has the estimate that they sent her. My car is automatic. Sometimes when i am driving it "revs" really high like over 4. And thats only when i am going 30mph. Even if i put overdrive on it still doesnt work. Also my low gas light indicator fades in and out.its doesnt come on until the car is past the "e" . And the last problem is my locks. When i am driving i lock my doors. And then when i turn off my car, take my keys out, it wont let my unlock my door. I have automatic doors and it shouldnt be doing this. One last comment is that these problems do not happen on all the time. But at least once a week. I have brought it in to the toyota dealer many times and they say there is nothing wrong. I know there is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
1.normal driving and use of car, regularly maintained, still under certified preowned warranty (doesn't seem to cover what seems to be a design flaw?).2.check engine light comes on, code scan produces po-441/441 (vapor cannister and vsvneeds to be replaced [evap control system errors]).3.nothing done yet.it seems that other corollas experience this problem (from web searches [www.google.com].

1999 toyota corolla door knobs.these plastic doors knobs are below standard.i am surprised no other complaints have been made on these door knobs.
Passanger door unlocks when car starts at various times
The inside door handle on the driver's door is cracked and may break at any time. That will make it impossible to open the driver's door at any time, even in an emergency.*la
Whenever weather becomes too cold and wet, driver's side door will not stay shut because of a pin inside the door. I was told by toyota customer service representative (john ledford) who says that he contacted regional service manager (chris tenebhn) and that they told him it is being caused from moisture getting inside the door and that all they offer is to lubricate it more (which they have already done) to try and keep it from freezing again. I have had to drive in bad weather on i-70 to get to work while holding the door shut 4 times this winter alone. I have left messages for the service manager (dennis young) at the lee's summit missouri toyota where i take my car in for service but have not heard back from him.
I have a 1999 toyota corolla le (bought in tampa, florida in august 1999), which came equipped with electric locks and remote door entry. On october 1, 2003, i came into toyota of roswell to have the driver side door mechanism repaired. A day before, the drivers side door handle had lost its rigidity, and i was concerned that there possibly could be more serious consequences if i did not fix it immediately. The part was not available, so it was ordered, and the work was completed the next day (for $124.50). The repair work enabled the door handle to function more or less normally, but the mechanical feel and function of the door handle was not the same as before, or even similar to the passenger side door handle. I came in on october 7th to have the handle adjusted because it was not working correctly. The mechanism would either stick in the locked position, which would require opening the window to open the door from the outside (which sometimes did not work either); or the door mechanism would stick in the open position, and not allow the door to close properly. I came in two more times on november 24th, to try to adjust the door handle. After the last time, i got tired of going in to just be told ?it is an intermittent problem, and we have no clue what caused it, but it seems to be working now?. This problem, i believe, is a latent defect in the door lock casting of the handle assembly. None of these problems stated above existed prior to my coming to toyota of roswell for rectification of a latent defect in the door handle assembly. I now live in new york, and the door causes problems during the cold weather ? it has seized in the locked and unlocked position, which would be a serious problem in an emergency. I have taken the car into the toyota of huntington, and they said that the problem was the internal lock mechanism and not the handle. But, the handle appears to have a crack in it, and i suspect will break soon.
1999 toyota corolla hood latch came loose.the vehicle's hood, windshield and roof were damaged.
Was traveling 15-20mph and rear ended another vehicle. This caused hood latch to releasehood, and it popped backwards towardswindshield.also, left headlighthad popped out. Consumer states air bag did not deploy nad suffered minor injuries.
1999 toyota corolla accelerator stuck and could not be stopped even when applying brake. Driver did not know to place gear in neutral. Crashed into rear of pickup at approximately 30 mph triggering both air bags. Car was totaled and driver suffered minor injuries. Driver female, age 85 was taken to hospital for evaluation. No sign of mini-stroke. At that time floor mats were suspect. Floor mat was in proper place. However, driver suspects stuck accelerator. According to insurance company, car has been sold for parts and not available for inspection. Accelerator had not stuck prior to this event.
Number 2 piston wasn't covered under powertrain warranty.
I was driving home and exiting the highway when there was a sudden loud crackling noise coming from the transmission. I continued home approximately 1/2 mile, i then parked the car checked all fluids, everything was fine. Next day i was driving and upon acceleration the car hesitated to move but at a slow speed it went on. Anyhow, as i drove i noticed that upon acceleration it would quiet, but once i released the peddle there was a loud cracking sound, and it finally stopped moving.
I had purchased a 1999 toyota corolla.shortly after buying it, the front wheels began rotating improperly.i took it in for service, and they said the improper rotation of the wheels, was caused by an impairmentin the transmission linkage and that i need a new transmission.i got a second opinion, and the same diagnosis was found.since then, over the last few years, every time i pass a corolla or prism from 1999 on, the majority of the front wheels are not rotating smoothly and have a wobble/imbalance problem, which like mine, i'm sure is a result of transmission linkage problems.toyota denies any defect.i know there is, because i have been watching new and used corollas and prisms over the last few years.i am a truthful and honest citizen, just trying to help the general public.what can i do to help old and new consumers of corollas know this.this is real.
While driving on the highway at 45 mph consumer tried to change gears from5 speed to 4speed, and gears would not shift. Consumer had to put on emergency light to avoid being hit by oncoming vehicles.
When i was driving my 1999 toyota corolla, the steering wheel started shaking. Then when i tried to make right turn, i heard something broke and the car couldn't move. Towed the car to dealership and found the left transaxle was broken. Fortunately, the accident happened on local street. If it were on highway, i cold have been injuried.
Seat belt warning light flashes even when belt buckle is properly engaged.
My car is a 1999 toyota corolla le.on october 27, 2005, the seat belt indicator light began flashing even though the driver seat belt appeared to be securely fastened.it has since been doing the same thing (now going on 11 days) and i am concerned that there is a safety issue with the seat belt.i don't know whether or not the seat belt will work properly in case of an accident.on november 4, 2005, i took the car to the toyota dealer.i paid $85 for diagnostic testing and was told that the left front seat belt assembly (part# 73220 02030) needs to be replaced.i was told that this needs to be special ordered and that i will need to pay $120.26 for the part plus another $85 for labor.the part will be ordered this week and installed as soon as it arrives.i also found a forum where another customer reported the exact same problem.please see below..."i have a 98 chev prizm (same car as corolla) and my seat belt reminder light keeps blinking even while the seat belt is on. I have tried extending the seat belt all the way out but the light keeps blinking continuously. I took the molding away from the seat belt winding mechanism and unplugged the electrical connection. The seat belt light stayed on even after unplugging the wires but the electrical plug seemed a little charred. I am taking the car to the garage to have a maintenance inspection so if i find out anything new i will post here."http://www.faqfarm.com/q/why_does_the_seat belt_light_reminder_in_a_1999_corolla_only_come_on_and_stay_on_when_your_seat_belt_is_onit seems like this is a problem with toyota corolla's and gm prizm's (both essentially the same cars as they are made by a toyota and gm joint venture).since this is a safety issue, i think toyota should make all owners aware of this problem and replace the faulty seat belt assemblies immediately!
Drivers seatbelt will not buckle.
The department of transportation website has no recall information about the toyota corolla. The corolla is not listed among the choices for a toyota vehicle.i have a 1999 corolla le.

I have been having constant problems with the automatic ignition controlled door locks unlocking when they're not supposed to, starting at about 38000 miles.either when i'm driving, or after the security system (securikey+, dealer installed) has been activated.also power lock button on driver's door will occasionally fail to operate properly (it'll lock the doors but will not unlock them).car has been taken to two toyota service departments seven times over the past seven months.all "repairs" have been temporary, lasting from two months to two weeks.i get a different diagnosis each time.the actuator is the only part that has been replaced.
Thank you.
Consumer states that the automatic ignition controlled door locks have been unlocking when they are not supposed to, this occurs while driving or when the security system has been activated, the power lock button on the drivers door will occasionally fail, the dealer has replaced the actuator.

I installed new rear struts manufactured by monro--in order to connect the brake linehose to the bracket on the strut it was necessary to twist the rubber brake hose a quarter turn to accommodate the improperly manufactured strut bracket- this causes the rubber brake hose to be twisted a quarter turn and is not as it was when originally installed at the factory- this could lead to brake line failure due to the twisted line and stress
When driving at speeds in excess of 60 mph, especially in windy conditions or when being passed by large trucks which create wind conditions, the car pulls to the left and right.on february 2, 2001, i was driving north east on interstate 64.the car pulled so forcefully left and right that i almost lost control a number of times.i was unable to drive the speed limit of 65 and had to slow down to below 60 to maintain control of the car.when i got home, i checked the weather channel to find out if it was unusually windy and discovered that the wind was blowing 15 miles per hour south west and that i had been traveling into the wind.this pulling back and forth has happened a number of times but the incident on february 2, 2001 is the worst i have yet experienced.i must say that the car handles so poorly at high speeds that i am reluctant to travel on the interstates even in the mildest of winds.

For the past few weeks, my 1999 toyota corolla ve has been making a squeaking noise underneath the car whenever i drive over bumps in the road, or uneven patches in the road, or whenever i am driving around a sharp curve.when i took the car for its 40,000 mile oil change and maintenance yesterday (may 21, 2003) the service dealer told me that it was the steering rack end, also known as the lower control arms.this is part of the suspension.i took it to toyota of cleveland in cleveland, tn.the man in the service department told me that toyota had issued a technical service bulletin which stated that this had been a problem in corolla's.he said it was not technically considered a "recall" and that apparently the manufacturer did not consider it enough of a problem to issue a recall.although he told me that it has been a problem in a lot of corollas.he claimed that it was merely cosmetic, that it would just make noise, and that it did not really need to be fixed.he said they would fix it for free only if the manufacturer issued a recall.although he did tell me that if i wanted to fix it, it would cost about $600 to have it fixed.i asked him if they were going bad and he said, "oh, no.if they were going bad you would know it.they would start rattling really loud and shaking."so does that mean that eventually they will go bad and that i will have to pay $600 out of pocket to replace the steering rack end on a car that is only 4 years old and supposed to be one of the most reliable brands?if this is such a problem, i think toyota should issue a recall of this part and fix it for free.
Rear suspension is worn out after 28,500 miles.this presents a likelihood of tire failure due to "cupping" which is what happens to a car tire where the suspension system is worn out.

Tire de-treaded at 75 mph.i was traveling from home when the de-tread occurred.the dealer whom i purchased a new replacement tire from (fulton, mo) forgot to place the damaged tire in my car.when i returned home i went to a firestone facility expecting the tire to be in my trunk and for firestone to replace under their warranty agreement.however, they informed me they could do nothing for me unless i had the actual tire.i asked if they would call the dealer who replaced the damaged tire and i was told they could not.never received reimbursement - however, of more critical importance to me right now is the need to find a forum to report that de-treading is occurring on tires other than those being recalled and at times of the year that are not excessively hot.i had had the tires inflated and checked immediately prior to my trip, so i'm confident it wasn't due to underinflation.i have since had the other three tires replaced and are not using firestone.( dot number: tire size: 185/65r14 )

I recently had my mechanic put new brakes on my car and he said my engine was running rather loudly.i took it to denbigh toyota for a diagnostic check and they determined it was the timing chain.they put a tensioning unit on it and that did not correct the problem.upon further digging in the car, it was determined that the chain was rubbing against the engine and leaving metal shavings in the engine. My car only has less than 70,000 miles on it and the toyota place said they dont' see this problem until there are at last 150,000 to 200,000 miles on this type of 1999 toyota corolla.i bought the car brand new in 1998 and thought i would nothave any major problems such as this in such a short period of time.
