Takata recall: in april, 2016, i received a notice from toyota that my vehicle would be recalled for an airbag replacement. Furthermore, i was not to allow anyone to use the front passenger seat until the replacement was made. This is a hardship. Toyota and my dealer, gatorland toyota in gainesville, fl, agreed to loan me a rental car free of charge if needed due to hardship. I have used a rental car from gatorland twice now, but this is inconvenient. Furthermore, my vehicle is not worth its full value for resale without the airbag replacement. Replacement is now scheduled for may 2017, according to gatorland, but this date has been moved back several times already.

Have heard nothing from toyota regarding recall on takata airbag.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 toyota corolla matrix. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v340000 (air bags) and stated that the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

From my apartment parking space i had to make a u turn. Gently put my foot on accelerator, approx. @2mph, turning right, matrix began to go faster, put my foot quickly on the brake, the car accelerated at a higher speed crashing me into a brick wall, all within parking area. Estimate of damage was $6,000.00, frame severely bent, bumper & hood destroyed. Side front fenders have to be replaced. Undercarriage damaged. The front impact was very fast, no air bag went off. Rear side panels popped off.

Takata recallnothing has happened yet, but there is a recall going on with my airbags (shrapnel from airbags), that has not been addressed in over 1 year. I still own this car and use it everyday, and i and my passengers are put at risk every time, specifically if the airbags were to deploy. Toyota has not done anything about it except to send a letter that it will be remedied soon which was sent 1 year ago. Additionally, i received a auto airbag settlement notice, but am not eligible because i still own the car! this is ridiculous. Toyota needs to prioritize by owners of vehicles that can currently still receive injury or death first over those that had previously owned/leased the car and were therefore only potentially at risk. Toyota is putting my life, and my passengers' lives at risk, every day, and they do nothing about it.nothing has happened yet, but why am i being put at risk for something that is not my fault, and should be remedied by the seller as i am the consumer? why should this even be about something that has happened, why isn't it about prevention and not having to be fearful that every time i drive my car, that if i get into an accident that i and any of my passengers may die because shrapnel will deploy from the very same airbags that were meant to keep us safe?

I have visited fordham toyota at 235 west 154th street new york, ny on 4/21/2017;and 5/17/2017 and i was told the part was on hold. On 5/11/2017 i received a call and i was told to return on 5/15/2017 to install the required part. My car was kept in the dealer until 3pm. And then was told that the part was not available. I have missed (2) days of work due to this issue and it has not been resolved. I feel toyota is not making any effortto remedy this issue, please advise.

Takata recall. I have received multiple letters from toyota re: air bag recall over months and months time. I have called two dealers in the indianapolis area and the parts are still not available. As this is a safety issue, it seems that there should be more urgency by the car manufacturer in getting the problem fixed. I have been advised not to have a front seat passenger, but this advice after such a long time of knowing there is a problem, is unsatisfactory.

Takata recall:i first found out about this recall in february 2016. It is now the end of august 2016. How long are toyota and takata going let their customers drive in vehicles in which one of the key safety features(my air bag) could cause a worse injury than the accident itself?

Takata recall toyota motor corporation usa sent me a notice falsely claiming that the parts to fix my passenger side airbag were in stock. I called the dealer on 5/1/2017 and told them i wanted to get this recall done. I told the dealer the model and year of my car. I was told to bring the car in.when i arrived at the dealer, i was told that they did not have a part in stock that was necessary to perform the recall repair. The dealer further stated that the part was on back order and they did not know when it would come in. I called the toyota motor corp usa national hot line for the recall and asked when the part(s) would come in. The representative did not know. I was put on hold while the representative called the dealer. When the representative came back on the line, she stated the she spoke to the dealer and the dealer said the parts(s) order was not in stock at the place that they were submitting the order to and that he did not know when the part would be delivered to the dealer.because of the above statements i believe that toyota motor corporationknowingly sentout a recall notice stating that the parts were available when they were not in stock. I would like to request that an investigation be instigated to determine how many notices were sent out to vehicle owners saying that parts were available when their were either not enough parts in stock to fulfill the notices that were sent out and or the parts were not in stock at the time the notice was sent.

Takata recall. I do not think that a safety recall that can cause death should be ignored and simply telling me not to use the passenger seat is unacceptable as my family only has one car and uses all the seats. I need my car fixed or a replacement vehicle.

Takata recall. Toyota sent me arecall letterat the beginning of the year 2017 saying they had no fix and i shouldn't use passenger front seat. When i didn't hear from them again for several months i called their customer service and was told there was no fix for my car until december 2017. Any toyota dealer would give me a free rental car. When i called the dealer i was told i would have to leave my car at the dealership and it would be parked outside with no shelter. I live in phoenix az and i know what the sun does to paint, tires, and even interior of cars. So that is an unacceptable offer. Since i really need full use of my car i called customer service again today, august 16, 2017. They still do not offer an acceptable solution. The recall letter stated that i could file a complaint with the htsa if i felt toyota is unable to remedy the defectwithin a resonable time.

"takata recall"i'm not making a complaint because they exploded, yet...although, i have been notified that they could explode, so essentially, this makes my vehicle inoperable since notification and makes me ineligible to work using my vehicle.furthermore, according to the manufacturers notes: it is suggested that i filea complaint with the nhtsa.per : if the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner, please contact the nhtsa vehicle safety hotline at: 1-888-327-4236 or tty: 1-800-424-9153 or file an online complaint with nhtsa.

Takata recall 16v-340: i was notified by toyota that my vehicle was subject to the takata airbag recall for passenger side airbags 3 months ago. The dealer indicated that a replacement part was not yet available and was unable to give me an estimated timeframe in which it would be available for replacement. I am concerned about the safety risk. The toyota notification indicated that if i believe that the dealer or toyota has failed or is unable to remedy the defect within a reasonable time frame, i may submit a complaint to nhtsa via this site, and so am doing so. Toyota is responsible for ensuring that vehicles meet safety standards and that when a safety concern is identified it is addressed in a timely and responsible manner. The manufacturer has failed in this regard. It is unreasonable to ask vehicle owners to operate the vehicle without a passenger in the front seat until the manufacturer can get around to fixing the problem.

Takata recall - i received a notice in the mail stating that my vehicle has this defect.there is currently no remedy for the problem and the only suggestion is that i do not operate my vehicle with a passenger.

I ran into a light pole in a parking lot on january 13, 2013 in kansas city, missouri. I was driving approximately 15 mph, making a turn into pharmacy pickup lane behind the cvs store. The driver airbag deployed. I suffered 8 fractured ribs and numerous lacerations. I spent 4 days in the hospital, and @ 3 weeks in rehab. I lost approximately 4 weeks of work. I still have scars and necrotic bumps on my chest wall. Vehicle was a total loss. As far as i know it's in the landfill. I am begging only for no more recall notices to be sent to me.

Takata recall letter that we received from toyota directed us to stop using the passenger seat in the car due to safety concerns, and advised that we would receive further instructions in april. It is now may and we have not heard from toyota and the local dealership advises us that no remedy is available for us. We are not able to safely use the vehicle as a family, and we have no idea when or if we will be able to use the vehicle safely again. The vehicle is currently being used daily by driver only, and it is unclear whether the vehicle poses a threat to driver's safety.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Toyota of pasadena, california was made aware of the recall and stated that parts would not be available for two weeks. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

I have been on toyota recall list for two years and every time i get another card about recall , i call dealership and they put me on a wait list . As part is not available or supply and demand . Unacceptable and now it seems there is also a loud squealing noise and the gas pedal willrev and accelerate and jerk forward on its on while i just barely got foot of brake . And then it will accelerate until i put foot on gas and it will jerk forward trying to accerlelerate and then i get control

Takata recalli just received notification about the takata recall and i was concerned because i have lived in humidity and fluctuating temperatures.i contacted my local dealership and they advised that they did not have a solution at this time.it is extremely frightening to know that your vehicle is not safe for you or your passengers.i have been advised by loved ones that takata was aware of this defect in 2004.four years before i purchased my vehicle.it seems unreasonable that after buying a care brand new and paying in full that you should discover your life, and the lives of your family were not taken into consideration by the individuals that have been aware of this for some time.it is infuriating that they didn't offer a temporary solution, such as removing the air bag until the parts could be replaced.at this point i have to hope that my air bag isn't deployed for any reason, which makes me very nervous.

Takata recallit has been months of being able to safely use the car.there is no date offered for a fix.dealers in 2 states have the same response.how can they get away with this delay?

Takata recall - we have 2 out of 3 of our family cars affected by this recall to which there "is no remedy" available.very inconvenient for no one to be able to ride in the passenger seat and probably not even safe for the driver or backseat passengers either.when will this be fixable?

I was involved in an accident where a driver t-boned my vehicle on the drivers side, the drivers side door took the worst damage along with the roof molding, fender and quarter panel, state farm declared the car a total. I called toyota and open a case because the air bag sensor number 3 in the owners manual in the drivers side door did not deploy,i sent toyota 12 pictures with the damage and the door was the worse, the rep assigned to my case was in complete denial and said that sensor would not have deployed the airbag even if i were killed! he just washed his hands with my case and ran me around about the door sensor and why is it there if it doesn't work is my question. Should i seek legal council or just let toyota off the hook? don't think its fair to us consumers.

The contact owns a 2009 toyota corolla matrix. While approaching a stop sign to make a left turn, another vehicle crashed into the rear driver's side of the contact's vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The driver of the other vehicle sustained unknown injuries. The contact sustained back and neck injuries that required medical attention. The contact's passenger also sustained neck and back injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was awaiting inspection by the insurance company. The dealer was not contacted for diagnostic testing or repair of the air bag failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,021.

Takata recall:the nhtsa attendantitalked to about airbag recall on 09 matrix didn'tseem to know anything about when it was to take place and told me to call toyota.i need to have this fixed also toyota doesn'thave answer either!i can't afford a new car and you say this one isn't safe but what are you doing to make toyota fix it?

Dear sir or madame, please assist us with our problem. Toyota is really bad about this latest recall. It still has not been fixed!it is ridiculous that the "fix" is not to sit in the passenger seat.this lowers the value of my car since who wants to buy a used vehicle with this serious issue!plus my wife cannot sit next to me to give me directions since i am deaf and cannot hear the gps. Can't they just turn it off rather than letting it explode?we have another recall with them and that still have not been fixed in many years.i am still waiting for my $87 recall settlement for many years and here is another recall is not being done! now checking on a class action lawsuit against toyota since this car cannot be used for the number of passengers it was purchased for! we may not be able to afford a new car, but we will roar. Please help us owners get this fixed??? thank you for your help,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Takata recall passenger side air bag. Received notice in jul;y 2016. It is now march 2017.advised not to allow any passenger to ride in the front passenger seat.this is a terrible inconvenience. After 8 months toyota should make the remedy a priority. This is unacceptable.

The contact owned a 2009 toyota corolla matrix. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle accelerated independently and crashed into a rail several times. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained injuries to the neck, arm, and back that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown...updated 11/02/15updated 12/03/15*lj, 4/3/18

Takata recallwe received the notice of recall last may (2016). We have received no other notification from toyota or the oem manufacturer (takata).given the potential severity of the problem, i do not consider this "timely" on toyota's part and request they be encouraged to get this done.please note that the recall notice advises us not to operate the vehicle with anyone in the front passenger seat. This is a significant limitation.i realize that the remedy can't be accomplished overnight but it seems like some progress should have been made in the 9 months since we received the notice.in all other respects the vehicle has been excellent and the two previous recalls were accomplished quickly.

Takata recall i haven't been able to drive with a passenger in my car for five months now. It is impeding my way of life. Also, i don't feel safe driving the car at all, but i have no choice. I think it is well past the time these airbags were fixed.

"takata recall" i feel like toyota is not coming up with a remedy fast enough. I feel scared driving my car cause anything can cause the airbag to erupt.

I am unable to drive my car because of i am afraid of the air bag exploding. I have called various dealerships and i keep getting the run a around. I need to be able to use my vehicle asap. My grands and i have not been anywhere this summer because we are waiting for this part. I can go to any dealership in georgia thats within 100 miles of stone mountain

Takata recall: the speed in which toyota is remediating this problem is unacceptable. My car is my family's primary vehicle. The solution of not riding in the front seat until the car is officially recalled does not work for my family of four, since i have 2 car seats that take up my back seat. I feel that my life is in danger every time the four of us ride in the car.it now has been approximately 5 months since i was notified about my defective airbags.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 toyota corolla matrix. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v006000 (air bags); however, the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Takata recall - the manufacturer has sent us a letter asking us to not operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat, but has not provided a fix. This severely reduces the utility of my vehicle - reducing its passenger capacity by 25%. In addition, this creates an unreasonable expectation that i am unable to fulfill due to the necessities of everyday life. I feel that the dealer and/or toyota has failed to provide a remedy to the takata airbag defect within a reasonable time and request restitution for the lost utility and inconvenience.

Takata recall.the recall has affected my daily use of my vehicle since i am unable to carry a passenger in the front passenger's side seat.this has been an issue since may 2016.when i call toyota, i continue to get the response that a remedy is not available and they will let me know as there is a remedy.

Power steering went out while i was driving and nearly killed myself 149,000 miles on my car and this is super dangerous. From what i read, plenty of other matrix doing the same. Brakes, windows all went out as well

Vehicle has stalled several times. All instances the vehicle stalls while driving. Problem is random and non-repeatable. I have had the vehicle stall while at various speeds ranging from 15 mph to 55+ mph (on highways or even local roads). Most recent stall was 09/17/2018. Making a right hand turn, vehicle stalled. Turned the ignition off, went to turn back on, stalled again. Turned off, waited for a moment, started the motor and vehicle ran without any further issues for the remainder of the day.in doing reading, i see the engine control modal has been recalled for the toyota matrix up to and including 2008 models. I believe the recall should be extended to 2009 models. I have also done some reading that there was overlap between production years of 2008/2009 where parts were used from the 2008 models in the 2009 models which furthers my emphasis to expand therecall.

In motion with lights on, and when switching to high beam lights shut off and vehicle warning icons on dash light up; lights come back on momentarily.

Suspect faulty ecm (engine control module) as evidenced by recall on vehicles up to 2008. Vehicle randomly loses power, both in motion at various speeds and at rest. All lights and indications go dark. Dash lights may come back on momentarily including all warning indications in dash, and engine may resume running. Also stalls randomly upon starting, as well as randomly when switching headlights from low beams to high beams. Randomly will not start either, with only one very dim dash indication. Battery is 3 months old and has been load tested: in perfect condition. Terminals are clean with solid connections. Has occurred several times over the past few weeks.

Electric power steering (eps) was blinking and stay on yesterday. Today it does the same. So two days in a row this happened. This happened when i was driving on the freeway both days.

My check engine light has come on and off sporadically, since the vehicle in question was bought of the showroom floor from sunny side toyota since march 2009 all the way up to the present.now, i didn't purchase this vehicle, however, my buddy who did has claimed this light -- check engine, along with abs and vsc would come on together.although, he has said, it's never affected the performance of the said vehicle -- i know better!!since the vehicle is now under my ownership and unfortunately, it's out of warranty.however, there is a tsb on this exact service code p0607, which involves changing out the pcm and the other p code happens to be p0138, which is the 02 sensor. Since there is a tsb on this specific code - p0607,it affects certaincorollas and matrix for the years prior to my vehicle -- so what a coincidence, would you say? i would say!!also, according to repairpal.com, this is a common occurrence with these vehicles and i think this should also then be a standard recall, considering the fact that my 2009 toyota matrix only has 49k miles.it is also mentioned, under that service code that the pcm computer should be replaced and thus, it would correct these problems that i should not be having.futhermore, it's listed in the tsb, that this is also covered under the emissions warranty of 96 months and/or 80k miles.is it possible to be assisted with this matter and having toyota, out of good faith, correcting this issue for me.i have this tsb document inferring such along with another document which states how closely similar my engine is to the engine in question. The p codes stated above were supplied by the toyota dealership, when i last brought my vehicle in for the takata air bag recall.i would sincerely, appreciate any assistance in dealing with this matter

I'm very disappointed with toyota.my vehicle runs out of oil.period before 3,000 miles.no "red" oil light.it just runs out of oil.i took it for toyota oil consumption test and it passed.so i go for a second test.no.the 10 year 150,000 extended warranty is expired.so i am now stuck putting oil in this vehicle weekly until it ultimately fails.it runs rough and i expect it to fail.shame on ntsb and toyota for not recalling this motor.i get a 10 year warranty that starts when the vehicle is first used - not when i'm notified.very shady and unethical.i also have reservations that the test was properly implemented.

Had a oil consumption recall that the dealer said it passed the test because it did't lose 1 qt of oil during a 1200 mile time.was told it is normal for oil to dissappear

Multiple episodes of engine stall without warning. Instrument panel goes black and complete loss of power. A few times it sputtered and bucked before it stalled. Have had it in to toyota twice now. The first time they were able to replicate the malfunction and said it was a loose fuse. I picked up the car and it stalled again while driving another 4 times. In the middle of a busy intersection with my toddler grandson in the back seat. Another time i was coming out of a dark tunnel with a blind turn doing approx 55mph and only by the grace of god did somebody not plow into the back of me. It could have been deadly. The car is back in the toyota dealership and has been there for 4 weeks. The service department says they can't perform any repairs if they are unable to replicate the malfunction. I am left wondering if the 2005-2008 recalls for this very issues should indeed be expanded to include the 2009 as well.

While driving home my car started burning.i pulled over with smoke pouring out of the engine area and the car just stopped.i opened the hood and there were flames coming up from behind the engine.the fire grew until it engulfed the front of the car.the fire department came and put out the fire.the 2009 matrix was totally destroyed.i noticed no prior warning signs or symptoms.

I am the original owner and the car has been using oil like crazy. I replace all 5 qts of oil at least 1.5 times between oil changes. I have been told that other than an engine rebuild i am pretty much out of luck. The car now has appox 185k miles. The use of oil has been an issue since around 75k. I have done a little research and saw a service bulletin, but by the time it was issued my car was outside of the mileage range it covered.

Engin used 2 1/2 quats of oil between oil changes.engin only has 71000 mile on it

My vehicle is going through several quarts of oil within the 3,000 mile range. Excessive oil consumption.

Excessive oil consumption.red oil light comes on when you turn and stop vehicle before manufacturer change interval.took to toyota dealership for oil consumption test and the vehicle passed.toyota fails to provide any technical information about the test such as what oil type used, amounted added, amount burned.this is the second tsb refused by toyota for this vehicle to get out of safety recall and lawsuits.my first safety complaint was to get tbs for loose computer assisted steering.toytota refused based on time passed and mileage of vehicle.

Engine burns oil at a rate of 1 quart every 500 miles.mileage is only 105,000

On humid mornings, engine occasionally misses on start up then clears. Engine stalled with no warning and almost caused a rear end collision when it suddenly lost power on acceleration onto busy road. Next morning engine would not start until later in day after warming up. It started with extreme miss then cleared. The 08 matrix has an ecm recall for same reason however no notice was received for the 09 model manufactured on 5/08.

I started noticing a knocking in my engine. I reported it to the toyota service department on 9-9-14. I was told by the toyota service department( the one that has done all of my scheduled maintenance) " no abnormal sounds heard at this time." in hind sight maybe they didn't hear the noise because she was low on oil and only listend for the noise after the oil change. I was never told that i should check my oil for leakage in between my scheduled maintenance! i checked my oil one day at random after i heard knocking again and she was very low on oil. I took her to toyota and told them she was consuming oil. They suggested a fuel induction service for which they did on 1-12-17, which didn't fix the problem. On 9-12-17 at her next appointment i reported again the oil usage.outcome; " performed inspection, found slight oil seepage at engine oil pan. Pcv system is working. Engine must be burning oil. Pistons and rings would need to be replaced." big surprise there. I was so naive but i did take her to different toyota service place for a second opinion. And yes you guessed it another engine oil cleaner service. And suggested piston and rings replaced. It was a mechanic friend that we took her to that kindly did some searching and found that toyota had issued a tsb on august 11, 2011[1](# fn:1) to dealerships which says: " some 2006-2011 model year vehicles equipped with the 2az-fe engine may exhibit engine oil consumption. The piston assembly has been changed to minimize oil consumption." and that po3o# (cylinder # misfire detected) dtc may also be set as a result of oil consuption" obviously there was there is a design error of the pistons.

Vehicle stalls unexpectedly in traffic.multiple calls to service department have not solved problem.vehicle has stalled on the interstate as well as in busy intersections.serious accident is immanent.

I was driving on the road around the neiborhood at the t intersection ,i try to brake but my car was not stop .then i try to put on the brake all the time but my car still keep going and hit a stair brick in front of the house ..

I was crossing the bump on the road and after that i lost control. I hit a mail box in my community and i crashed in my one of my neighbor car in the lot. I contacted toyota and sent pictures after the incident. They denied my claim. I had to pay for everything even thought toyota knew about that acceleration problem.

Power steering went out while i was driving and nearly killed myself 149,000 miles on my car and this is super dangerous. From what i read, plenty of other matrix doing the same. Brakes, windows all went out as well

Front of vehicle shook when i applied the brakes and came to a stop.

The contact owns a 2009 toyota matrix. Recall number09v338000(service brakes, hydraulic:power assist:vacuum)excludes other cold weather states such as pennsylvania and ohio.consequently brake failure could occur invehicles who operate in such cold conditions. I was traveling on interstate when vehicle drifted from right lane to left lane, unable to control- this discontinued, appx 4 - 5 miles later the vehicle drifted from right lane to left lane & hit shoulder. When brake vehicle went into spin & ended up crossing left & right lanes, ending on interstate roadside @ tree line. Damage to front driver's side - i am sore on left side (shoulder, lower back & left knee- also have pain across stomach i guess from seatbelt engaging.this was terrifying, and i am also afraid to drive this vehicle again.accident occurred on thursday am, first chance to research friday night, i was appalled to learn that while toyota was aware of this issue never received first communication regarding possible danger.i could have been killed had there been traffic around me on the interstate, as was the case when the 1st drifing happened.

Front of vehicle shook when i applied the brakes and came to a stop.

Sudden loss of power steering assist.i parked my toyota matrix which was running perfectly. I stay up to date on tuneups and oil changes and any other maintenance issues that arise. When i came back to my parked car i noticed a red exclamation light on which turns out to be the warning light for electric power steering. When i turned on my car i quickly realized that i had no power steering assist.i took the car to the mechanics and they could not figure out the issue. They replaced the fuse thinking it was a broken fuse, but nothing. They called toyota and even toyota had no idea what it was. As i did more research this seems to be a common issue with toyota matrix' based on some research i found that some the power steering malfunctions happen within four years of a healthy cars life.this leads me to believe that there should be a recall for the power steering as this is a very dangerous malfunction. I was fortunate enough that it happened while my car was parked but if it had occurred while driving (which ive seen it has) it couldve been extremely dangerous.

Difficult to steer.i have to keep hands gripped on wheel, especially when turning.i'm almost landing in the oncoming lane.if i it a bump in the road, the vehicle leers.

There is a sway in the driving of the car on the highway.staying in a lane is difficult.steering is uneasy.

The paint on my matrix is bubbling and peeling, now my car is rusting.i live in florida, so no salt issues, this should not be happening to a 5 year old car.reading online that this is a major problem with toyota's that are built in the usa and with silver paint. My car is metallic dark silver. This should be a recall.

Front of vehicle shook when i applied the brakes and came to a stop.

While driving on the highway on february 23, 2012, i lost acceleration with no warning whatsoever. No other problems were encountered at that time. I was able to get off the highway and have my car towed to the dealership. Their diagnosis was as follows:"connected scan tool and found code p0121 throttle pedal position sensor switch a circuit range performance, performed inspection and found internal malfunction in throttle body sensor, replaced throttle body, retested working normal at this time"i am in possession of the defective throttle body.on february 24, 2012, i called toyota and reported my incident. They provided me with the case number 1202242199. According to toyota, they haven't heard of this issue in the past, but to me it is unreasonable that the throttle body should fail so soon. While my car is nearly 4 years old with just over 74,000 miles, most of those miles are from driving constant highway speeds because i have a 60 mile round trip commute to work. On september 17, 2011, the throttle body was serviced to remove carbon build up.

On may 30,2012 while driving my 2009 toyota corolla with 27,000 miles , we are the original owners, down route one in peabody, massachusetts in heavy fast lane traffic the auto, for no reason slowed to almost a stop and could not be accelerated.with the hazard lights on it was difficult to get to the side of the highway as no one seemed to recognizethe meaning of hazard lights.i let the car rest and when i started it everything seemed fine and i drove to revere without a problem.i parked the car in the northgate shopping mall and when i returned a few hours later the auto was totally dead and i had to have it towed to winthrop.they could not diagnose the problem because of the dead battery that they replaced at a cost of $129.00.they told us to drive locally for a while.so far the problem has not recurred.what started out a$20,000.00 purchase for safety and reliability has become something else.we would like an explanation about this problem and we understand this is not an isolated incident.we are now in a situation of trading the 2009 corolla ,(something we cannot afford) or selling it to some unsuspecting person, something we do not care to do.even if it never happens again the seeds of fear have been planted.
