Please advise toyota to recall the 2008 matrix, as it has an affected takata airbag that may lead to catastrophic injury during deployment. I own a 2008 toyota matrix which is in the same generation as the 2005-2007 toyota matrix models. The airbag used in the 2008 matrix is identical to that which is used in the 2005-2007 toyota matrix models. However, the 2008 toyota matrix airbag was not recalled (unlike the 05-07 models) even though it has the same airbag part number as the recalled models. I believe that toyota may have overlooked the 08 matrix as it occurred during a limited production run (there were very few 08 matrixes produced; they began selling the 09 in early 08). The airbag in my vehicle is not deployed, but i feel unsafe knowing the same airbag was recalled but my model year was overlooked.

Received a recall notice that my car is unsafe to drive and that toyota recommends that i have their remedy performed immediately. I called as soon as the dealership opened on a saturday and they told me that i should call back mid week because they are really busy. If my car is immediately unsafe to drive, waiting until mid week to be able to drive my car again is completely unacceptable.

My 2008 toyota matrix was under recall since i was notified in october 2019. At that time i was told that my car was not safe to drive and i was provided with a rental car. My car was repaired with the toyotaair bag remedy on june 11, 2020 but it seems that the remedy has caused the cover to pop up and a crease is forming across the middle of the airbag cover. Also, the passenger airbag indicator light says off when a passenger seat is occupied. The passenger indicator light worked properly when i last drove my car in october of 2019.

I have visited and called kendall toyota in miami five times (today included) to change the airbags in my matrix and the answer is always the same: we don't have them, they are in back order. What are we toyota owners of recalled airbags causing deaths supposed to do?

Takata recallthe news reported the death of a woman driving a car with takata airbags. Why is nothing being done about toyota not doing anything to fix this defect and allowing us to drive these death machines. I currently do not have any one in my passenger seat, this latest death was the driver.

Takata recall. I feel that toyota is taking too long to fix this issue. I think that it is ridiculous that they expect passengers to sit in the back seat for no telling how long. If nothing else they should give out loaner vehicles until they fix the airbag problem!

"takata recall"? undated letter from toyota in may 2016 advised vehicle subject to recall because of defective air bag inflators. Undated letter from toyota later in may 2016 advised that parts preparation completed for our area and to schedule repair with dealer. On 06 june 2016 dealer inspected vehicle and advised that parts not available and had been ordered. On 14 june, 19 july, & 29 july checked with dealer & parts still not available. On 24 june & 24 august called toyota customer experience center to complain that parts not available although advised by toyota in may that they were. Told it was a major problem and they were doing the best they could. Problem(s): toyota lied about the availability of parts; no one is to use passenger front seat of car until repaired(upset wife); ready to sell/trade car but don't want to endanger someone else; feel that toyota is releasing parts to higher priority customers e.g. New car sale customers. Toyota needs to track parts for our vehicle and get it repaired now!

I was in an accident. My driver's side airbag deployed and then instantly collapsed. It offered no protection whatsoever. I experienced severe pain in my chest and right breast from where the seat belt locked. This pain lasted for 6 weeks. If the airbag had worked properly, it would have cushioned the impact and likely made it possible to lessen the need for the seatbelt to do all of the work. This must be fixed! (my vehicle was in motion on a city street when a person driving the opposite direction made a left turn in front of me and totaled my vehicle. I no longer have the car, but i have a photo of the defective airbag.)

Please see below. Dealership failed to install recalled part. Now i have a non-operating car. I feel this was done on purpose to save parts as it is now obvious that my part failed.2010 ecm recall [incident: [xxx]] i reviewed my paperwork and noticed that the ecm was ordered and never installed. The dealership fo whatever reason decided not to install it on 5/21/11 and now it has failed. The techs comments are" no action required/inspected ok". Why would they order a part and not install. I feel i am owed this part and the install as i thought it was done and from comments on the dealer invoice it was not. Even if it was replaced it only lasted 2 years and a few months what gives? look at invoice tocs738578 moss bros.moreno valley, cai feel ripped off for a hard to get recalled part.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

We bought the car used in ga august 2012, 3 months later the engine would come on but electrics wouldn't,move out of park. The dealer couldn't re create the problem to find out what was wrong so we delt with it for months until the power shut off on the hwy. It scared us.it quickly shut back on thank god but we been in touch with corporate and the dealership without any luck or help on fixing it. Finally july they said it was the ecm and tried to charge us to fix it. 3 weeks later the stalling continued. We were sent here by a friend and just now 2 years later find out about the recall. We also found out the same dealership where we took to fix it that couldn't identify the problem was the same one that fixed it initially for the recall. Now corporate and the dealership is denying that they fixed the ecm in july though i have an invoice stating so. Also, denying there was ever a recall.its dangerous and terrifying to drive not knowing when and where the engine will stall. It was fixed 2012 a few months before we bought it, fixed again this passed july supposedly but is still stalling so its a recurring problem. Hopefully the proper procedure is followed to ensure the safety of my family and who ever the next owner will be.

Engine over-heated to the point where the head gasket blew.dealership said it was due to chronic overheating but temperature gauges never indicated any issue and the check engine light did not come on until 2 minutes before the car broke down.potential problem with the monitoring system.routine maintenance (oil change, fluids checked, etc.) was done less than 2 weeks prior to incident.

Was driving the 08 matrix at highway speed on interstate 90/94 west of madison wi.stopped at rest stop and hear loud, hollow noise from under vehicle.made it to milwaukee and brought car to toyota dealer.was informed one of the straps holding gas tank to car failed due to corrosion, wear & tear and age of vehicle. Was told noise was due to gasoline tank, rock and heat shield clanging against car's frame/chasis underneath and out of sight. Was told if second strap had failed it could have created fireball under car.was told strap failure is not uncommon (really?). Vehicle repaired for $129 out of pocket expenses.not feeling too safe about vehicle at this point in time but cannot afford a new car to replace it.

Check engine light came while driving to work in 2008 toyota matrix. Took car to mechanic who diagnosed the charcoal canister needed to be replaced. Also occurred with a 2005 toyota corolla that had 120000 miles on it. Seems to me this is a manufacturing defect with toyota corollas and possibly others.

With the last incident being 2 days ago, i finally had a chance to take my car to the shop today. They said they could find no problem. I have had about 5 incidents over the last 4 years of unintended acceleration when my foot was on the brake. One time recently it happened on a flat road as i was approaching a very busy intersection. Luckily i was able to turn into the flow of traffic, cutting some one off but no collision took place. Two days ago it happened again when my car should have been stopped on a hill facing down the hill. When i pressed on the brake it did not brake the car, instead i could hear the engine rev up and pull forward. This is how it happened also on the previous 3 times.i don't know what to do now. I am single and disabled and just finished paying off this car. I don't want to sell the car and have someone die because i sold itto them. I certainly don't have the money to just go out and buy a new car but i am scared to drive this car now.please advise me as to what course i should take.thank you.

The front windshield wipers don't work correctly. Sometimes they remain on in high speed, sometimes slow. Sometimes they just stop. We have to take the fuse out to drive on clear days, as they will just come on when they feel like it. Also, the front washer fluid no longer works. In addition to those issues, the heat shield dropped while we were getting gas one day and rattles so loud it's unbearable. I had to wire it up.
