Received notice of recall several months ago. Was told by toyota in hollywood, ca that the parts were not available and i would have to wait. I believe that toyota and its dealer have failed to remedy the defect within a reasonable time.
I received an email notice and letter in the mail notifying me of the takara recall, that toyota has the parts but doesn't yet know how to proceed. I received a phone call from the local toyota dealership on oct 25, and they said they have the parts and wanted to schedule repair. Upon further discussion about the issue, she then changed the story and said they couldn't do it yet and would call me again at an undetermined future date. Toyota is failing to remedy this situation within a reasonable time, and their advice that no one should sit in the front seat is not acceptable.

A have a toyota recall notice for my 2006 matrix. The recall is dated june 16 2015, but as of yet (end of october) there are no parts available to fix the problem. In the notice under "what should i do?" it states: until the remedy becomes available in your location, we recommend that you do not operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat. That's quite inconvenient!i feel that toyota has failed to remedy the defect within a reasonable time.
The contact called on behalf of her husband who owns a 2006 toyota matrix. The contact stated that while her husband driving at 5 mph at a yield, another vehicle behind was driving approximately 40 mph and rear ended the vehicle. As a result, the contact crashed into the other vehicle in front.no air bags deployed. The driver sustained injuries to both his legs but did not require medical attention. The wife who was the passenger sustained right knee, back, neck, and shoulders injuries that required medical attention and was seen at a hospital. The vehicle was towed to the contacts residence where an adjuster was to inspect the vehicle. A dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

My toyota corolla matrix 2006 has a ecm under recall. When i bought this car from previous owner , i did not know that car was serviced under recall and ecm was replaced in january of 2011. In october of 2013, car has 54k miles and check engine light (p2716) is on. The transmission diagnostic was done and it shows that car has malfunctioning ecm. Transmission was rebuilt but not by toyota dealer. Toyota dealer told me that my car has replaced ecm and doesn't qualify for any other ecm replacement. Now the car has 106k and still the same problem p2716 and ecm is malfunctioning.

Open recal no solution,3 months later no notification of solution.
The passenger side airbag light stays on while driving even when there is no passenger in the seat and the seat is empty.is this related in any way to the takata inflator recall?the replacement was done for the takata recall and the light still stays on at all times when the car is running.
Driver airbag light on. No crash or deployment of bag.my question: why should i pay to replace as must be a factory defect? is not on recall "im told".i do not feel i should have to replace this bag.im told this is dangerous as could deploy. ...updated 04/11/17 *as

Takata recalli live in a very high humidity, very high salt content environment.driving ms. Daisy is not an acceptable solution for months on end.is there a buyback program yet?
The vehicle was taken to toyota about a year and a half to two years to have the airbag replaced.we were told that the part was not available.now we are getting another letter stating that we need to have the problem repaired.could i have the assurance that when i go over there i will not be wasting time again, because of parts being unavailable?thank you.
Toyota issued a recall for the front passenger airbag august 28, 2019. However, they still have not provided a remedy or timeline for a remedy, over 5 months later. Toyota refuses to provide more information when i contacted them. This is an unacceptable amount of time to be unable to use my front passenger seat.
I got the recall notice in october and still haven't gotten a repair nor another letter to let me know they have a fix. I'd really like to be able to have a passenger ride in my car and not have to ride in the back seat.
Takata recall - i received an undated letter from toyota explaining the recall. I believe that the letter was received in august or early september 2015. As of today, 11/23/15, i have not received a letter indicating when it will be repaired. I called toyota at the number on the letter. They cannot tell me when the repair will happen. The car is potentially dangerous. The letter advises that the short term solution is to not let anyone sit on the passenger side. This seems to me to be an unreasonable amount of time for the repair.
I was idling at a complete stop waiting for the traffic light to turn when i was rear ended at 50 mph into the car in front of me and my airbag did not deploy. I have suffered many injuries to my neck and spine.

Takata recall. My vehicle became part of the recall in mid-june 2015. It has now been five months and i am still unable to put a passenger in the front seat of my car. I went to toyota's website and my vehicle is not yet even on the schedule. Can i expect some compensation from toyota and/or takata for this continuing inconvenience? i had a similar issue with the driver side airbag on my 2001 honda accord, and it was resolved in less than a month.
Recall july 2015. Toyota did nothing said they'd be in touch, said "don't let anyone sit in the passenger seat"this is unacceptable.a man driving a toyota was just killed when his passenger side air bag went off.i want toyota to remove the airbag until they have a fix.

Takata recallhello.on my 2006 toyota matrix xr, my airbag light has been on for over a year.recently i brought it into jim coleman toyota in bethesda, and they told me that the assembly, the clockspring assembly, which is triggering the code is not covered in the recall.however, from what i am reading online including nhtsa, the clock spring is part of the assembly of the airbag and should be replaced.the cost to replace this part is over $1000, and not fixing it prevents me from selling the car.the airbag has never been deployed, and according to toyota of bethesda, they are not responsible for replacing the assembly, per the recall, but just the airbag, which i did not think was under recall.

Takata inflates: ever since my recall for the passenger airbag my airbag light came on about several months later. It. Has been on and i don't have the money to see what the problem is, i am on a fixed income and disabled. Can u please tell me what may be the problem or tell me what to do..thank you,[xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2006 toyota corolla matrix. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v286000 (air bags). The vehicle was taken to toyota of natchez (601-446-5588, located at 335 u s 61 business, natchez, ms 39120) where the air bag was replaced in 2017 and again in 2018 and now 2019toyota says it needs to be replaced again but no air bag exists. Afterwards, the contact stated that the air bag indicator illuminated while driving at any speed and also as soon as the vehicle was started. The contact called the same dealer back and was informed to bring the vehicle to their facility for diagnostic testing. The dealer informed the contact that the part may not be available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 178,000.
A recall that could take a year or more to fix is ridiculous. To have to not allow a front seat passenger to ride in the vehicle for such a length of time is unreasonable. What about those sitting in the seat behind the front passenger seat? could shards of metal pass threw it into backseat passengers in it if it deploys? limited materials in not an excuse when it comes to safety. Increase production or start paying for rental cars or replacements if it will take such an excessive amount of time.

Recall incomplete, remedy not yet available. This has been going on for almost two years. Why the delay?i was called by a toyota dealership to bring in the car. After dropping off the car they called and said they had made a mistake and they did not have the airbag unit to replace. This is a serious problem that i feel is being neglected .

Takata recalli had my passenger side airbag recalled and repaired.now i am concerned that the driver side airbag light is continuing to stay lit.if the passenger side was recalled shouldn't the driver side also be recalled.they are both the same brand airbag.i haven't received a recall for the driver's side, but now that my airbag light for the driver's side is coming on and staying on i am very concerned.the dealership is telling me that they would have to put it on a diagnostic machine which will cost me $135.00.if the driver side airbag is part of a recall that i haven't been notified of, why should i pay for diagnostic?
Tamara recallcalled toyota corporate office 12/8/15 to inquire why my local dealer is unable to get parts and local honda dealership keeps calling me to bring in a car i no longer own and emphasized the urgency of this issue. I have not been able to transport passengers since july. Toyota corp told me i could have a loaner then told me i could not. Case # 1512080106. Corporate office suggested i disengage passenger side airbag. Dealership says it's illegal. Dealership showed me last printout they received stating parts should have arrived october 2015 (just a projection)i am very nervous driving this car reports state scrap metal can be projected throughoutthe interior of car. I don't feel toyota corp isresponding to this defect within a reasonable time. How is it possible honda has been handling the issue in my area for months, and toyota won't give any indication as to when this will be resolved.
In october 2019 i received a recall notice advising me that the front passenger airbag which was replaced in a previous recall may be damaged and could cause injury in the event of a crash. I was advised not to allow passenger to sit in the front passenger seat until the airbag is replaced. I was also advised "the remedy is not currently available" and that i would be notified when the remedy is available.after waiting 3.5 months the remedy is still not available. It is unreasonable not to be able to use the front passenger seat of my vehicle for an unlimited amount of time. I have contacted toyota and they simply tell me there is no remedy available yet and i just have to wait. Is this legal??? do auto manufacturers have to repair safety recalls within a specific time period? if not, why not?
Takata recalli live and work in mexico, toyota dealer there refused to do the repair.dealer in juarez mexico is toyota "innova".

The contact's girlfriend owns a 2006 toyota matrix. The contact stated that while his girlfriend was driving 25 mph, her vehicle was hit by another motorist at a low rate of speed. Despite minimal impact, the passenger air bag deployed without an occupant in the seat. Due to the shock of the air bag deployment, the contact's girlfriend jerked the wheel and her back passenger tire had hit a curb. A police report was filed and the contact's girlfriend was able to drive the vehicle home. The next day, his girlfriend was treated at a hospital for injuries to her neck and right arm. The contact then called the manufacturer who informed him that there was a recall on the vehicle for nhtsa campaign number: 19v627000(air bags). An appointment was made at pohanka toyota of salisbury(2010 n salisbury blvd, salisbury, md 21801) where an inspector was sent to the dealer to inspect the air bag. After the inspection, the contact was informed to pick up the vehicle and was also informed that no repairs would be made to the vehicle until the investigation was settled. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 282,699.
I received two recall notices on this air bag issue.the first was at least a year ago, then just last week.the notices came with warnings not to allow anyone to sit in the front passenger seat.really?it has been over a year since the first notice.perhaps toyota should have suggested the car not be driven at all, that would have been the safest option in their liable eyes.the dealership has been unable to remedy the defect in a reasonable amount of time.
1.had to change all automatic door locks at least twice at $400 a pop.2.had to replace all 4 coils to engine at a cost of $810.533.had to have my transmission rebuilt do it failing while of i295 on my way home from work. At a cost of 3631.494.after transmission work had to have my transfer case internal sealed at a cost of $711.55 when we bought this car at toyota in december 2005, we were led to believe that this car was built longevity or for the long haul with only having to do routine maintance which i have kept up on every 5000 miles as recommended by toyota. My biggest concern is the transmission cost.firestone stated that toyota recommends a transmission service every 50,000 miles but my maintance book says only do that if you either tow, off roading, or dirt roads for long period of the time.i did neither, so toyota says no need to do service. I did contact toyota advocate after i had my trasmission done at cottman transmission and they could not help me cause i went to an outside vendor.my car had only 148,745 miles. Toyota says they would not pay for transmission unless there is a recall.for my search on the internet there is documentation that toyota knew there was a problem with the transmissions failing but did not want to do a recall but would only compensate if there is a recall. I just want to be heard and possibly compensated for some of my repairs that should not have happened.i bought this car because i wanted to keep it a long time and now it is costing me more than it is work.
My vehicle caught on fire in my driveway approximately 5-10 minutes after i returned home from from my job, which is 12 miles from my home. It was dark, and the only unusual thing i noticed was one of my headlights was out and the other seemed dim. I mentioned it to my husband and he said he'd replace the bulbs.within minutes i heard sirens, but i wasn't in a room that faced the driveway and the fire department was already on scene when i realized the front end of my car was fully engulfed. The fire took approximately 20 minutes to fully extinguish and the heat damaged an adjacent vehicle. No one was injured and my home was not damaged.the car was stationary, parked and unoccupied when the fire broke out. The fire department determined the cause as mechanical and their report is pending. A police officer responded but did not file a report after ruling out criminal activity. I do not know what specifically caused the fire but the attached photos show the damage, including to the adjacent car.
Clock randomly works. Seems to be in all toyota matrix in the mid 2000s. But of course toyota wants a huge price for a replacement for their faulty soldering job.
The engine is stalling. I noticed this at least a month ago. It has happened at least 5 or 6 times in the last month. It first occurred when i started the vehicle in the parking lot at school. I drove maybe 5 or 6 feet less than 10 mph then the engine shut off in the middle of a turn. I had to put the car in park and restart the engine in the middle of driving. It did restart, but it jerked once or twice and kept going. The next day, i was able to start car and drive a little further, maybe a mile at about 30 mph. When i entered an entrance ramp on the freeway, the vehicle stalled in the middle of acceleration. I had to veer to the shoulder. I put the car in park, then restarted the engine. I was able to drive a few miles. Then, i had to slow down to exit on a ramp when it stalled again. I exited freeway. The vehicle completely stopped in the middle of the road. I pulled into a parking lot to compose myself because the cars behind me were honking and drivers upset that vehicle stalled without notice. The vehicle did cut offat a higher speed as well. I was driving on the freeway at about 50 mph when it turned off, but immediately turned back on within seconds. I was very concerned for safety with kids in the car.

The contact owns a 2006 toyota corolla matrix. The contact stated that the vehicle would lose power and stall without warning while driving at any speed. The check engine light illuminated after the failure occurred. The failure was experienced several times. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 52,000 and the approximate current mileage was 52,100.
Heat shield hanger assembly failed and now heat shield vibrates against exhaust pipe making terrible noise.this is a very common problem as researched on the net.toyota needs to fix this free.
My 2006 toyota matrix completely stopped running while i was driving it to work to virginia from maryland on feb. 18, 2010.i was unable to restart it and had to have it towed to my mechanic.later that day, my mechanic called to inform me that it was a computer problem with the engine control module because he had not been able to start it again after he brought inside the service bay.he informed me that there was a technical service bulletin regarding the engine control- engine no start condition and that toyota is responsible for the repair since it is still under warranty.i had to have it towed again to 355 toyota and am waiting to hear from themregarding their diagnostic testing.
Intermittently my 2006 toyota matrix xr suddenly slows down to about 20 miles per hour and would not respond to pressing gas pedal.when this happens i will have to pull up to the side and turn the engine off for couple of minutes and then start.then it would be fine.it has happened on the highway and local roads.it could be dangerous if it happens right in the middle of highway.so far in the span of less than a year it has happened more than five times.we took the car to the dealer.they quoted "p2103: throttle actuator control motor circuit high" and will cost $1085 to fix it.i looked up the web and there were others with the same error code and replaced it but still experience the problem. After some research on the web i found that there was same symptom people experience but different error code that was covered by toyota even when the warranty expired.i was hoping my problem gets covered, too but they insist not to cover it.if this problem is a result of wear and tear, i have no problem with it. But this is clearly a defects in the vehicle that should be fixed regardless of the warranty expired or not.

Loud noise from motor compartment reduced speed drove car into garage now car wont back up and mechanic said its clutch and transmission. Possibly cost the value of car to replace.
I was returning home last week on i-40 in tn. I was going up a grade with vehicles all around me when my transmission blew. I instantly lost power and went from 70 to 50 in the blink of an eye. Luckily i wasn't hit and was able to get the car off the road. After towing the car home i was disappointed to hear of many similar accounts from other matrix owners. Apparently there are faulty bearings to blame for countless transmission failures on cars with alarmingly low mileage. This is something that toyota should reconcile with its customers and more importantly, fix before someone is injured or killed.

I experienced a near death episode last month while driving on the highway. I was going at the flow of traffic in marin county in the inner most lane in the early morning. Suddenly, my steering completely lost control and did not function. It would not stay in my lane and kept erratically moved and swerved into the next lane then back and forth before making multiple 360 spins before hitting the guard rail all the way across the highway. My car brakes wasn't responding when i braked during this horrendous trauma.thank god nobody hit me during this crazy car went out of control. Recently, i decided to google to see if other 2006 matrix had the same situation and was stunned to find that there are drivers with the same car models who experienced the same thing ! i was even more stunned to find out about the 2010 matrix that were in class action suits. I am infuriated and disgusted at the manufacturer for not recallign the vehicles!! they only recalled the 2010 and beyond. What about the older models>??? i almost died in that accident. The company should be ashamed of themslves
I was stopped in heavy traffic at about 8am on sept 11, 2014.the car in front of me moved forward so i took my foot off the brake to let my car coast forward.i braked to stop the vehicle and instead of braking, the car accelerated.instantly thinking i touched the wrong pedal or that the pedal was stuck, i looked down (scrunching toward my right shoulder) to ensure i was pressing firmly on the brake pedal.i braked again and the car shot forward again hitting the car in front of me.i injured my right shoulder trying to prevent the crash, suffered whiplash from the incident and am still hurting today.i am still waiting for the manufacturer to respond to my complaint and review the black box for my vehicle, which is currently housed by my insurance company and may be totaled as a result of this accident.

I was idling at a complete stop waiting for the traffic light to turn when i was rear ended at 50 mph into the car in front of me and my airbag did not deploy. I have suffered many injuries to my neck and spine.
When i roll down my window on the drivers side, there is always a loud *chunk* sound where a screw that is too long in the door is scraping up against the window as it rolls down, every time. If you roll down the window while the door is in the open position, you can not close your door because the glass is catching on the screw and putting huge gashes in the window. I am afraid it will one day decide to shatter all over me or my mother who sometimes borrows my car.
The car was purchased new.at 50,000 miles i've gone through two sets of tires and about replace my third set.there are similar complaints from many others on several forums like: http://www.faqs.org/car/toyota-matrix-2006/suspension/ and http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f0eeece/145that suggest there is a manufacturer's defect in the suspension that is the cause of this symptom.i will be discussing this with my local dealer and possibly a lawyer should it come to that.i did, however, want to write a report in the mean time documenting the situation for the record.
We purchased this car in march 2007 and changed the tires in 2009 at about 30,000 miles. And now we have to change the tires again in 2011 at about 55,000 miles due to abnormal tire wear. It is outrageous that the tires (at warranty of 80,000 miles) have to be changed at less than 30,000 miles. This may be due to problematic configuration or build of the car.
Tow on right rearend is off (-0.01).only get 20000 out of any set of tires installed and garage tells me it is due to tow being off.
I just bought a 2006 matrix (toyota). It only has 88,000 miles on it (october, 2020). The car is in great condition and seems to have been well maintained. The check engine light comes on and off. I've taken it to 2 separate qualified mechanics. They can't find anything wrong. When the light is off the car runs perfect. While i was driving to work the gas pedal was all the way to the floor and the car would not accelerate at all on a straight away flat road. I was driving 30mph leaving town. The speed limit increased to 40mph before further increasing to 65mph highway. It's a straight flat road. I could not get the car over 55mph. When i got to a small hill the car finally made it to the top 45 mph with the gas pedal all the way depressed. I was only able to get the car up to highway speed as i was coming down the other side of the hill with the gas pedal still depressed completely to the floor. I used a half of a tank of gas to drive 15 miles. I am writing this as i am concerned. When i looked online i found the problem i am describing was a common problem amongst other matrix owners. I could also see several other complaints where the matrix accelerated and was unable to be stopped. Why hasn't the 2006 been recalled? what is the likelihood of the matrix accelerating out of control on me after the pedal is floored with no acceleration? the risk seems pretty high considering the amount of complaints online. I am amother of 2. Are my kids safe in this car? are other drivers on the road safe from this car?
I own a 2006 toyota matrix.at about 40k i began noticing when i pushed the gas pedal from a stop that it sometimes lagged, other times the pedal seemed very touchy and to take off excessively, causing passengers to notice the sudden acceleration.this occurs spontaneously but at least once every 14 days.it is always from a stop such as at a light or driveway, after the car has been driving even a few feet but it has never occurred on the initial press when the car is first cranked and moved, only after the wheels have moved.as a side note, the computer was replaced at about 77k and this did not correct the issue.i have the oem floor mats with the latch system that holds the mat in place.i have never had the pedal appear to even touch the mat.while i have never had the terrible experience of having the pedal stick and continue to accelerate, i am hoping that this information will help the cause of the issues come to light.there is definitely a problem with the gas pedal and the computer telling the throttle when and how much to open.please do not let this fall solely on the floor mats.there is more to the story!

I purchased this matrix brand new in cash. However i have had to purchase wheel covers over and over. Costing me nearly 60.00 a hubcap. I tried to reach out to toyota and they said sorry they couldn't help me. There are tons of complaints about this. They were made very poorly and they should be fixed. I will be contacting bbb as well.
