Just got off the phone with a chain at toyota (18003314331) he said there is no remedy for that type of vehicle.passenger air bag.no time frame either for when i can get my part.he is sorry. Really.i need a car.he would not lease me a car either for free.

Takata recall. Where to start. I received a letter in june 2015 about the recall. In december 2015 i filed a complaint with you because nothing was being done. Still nothing. In may 2016 my daughter received a letter also for the takata recall on her yaris with a letter saying not to let anyone ride in her front seat. Seriously? i was not told this. I could have killed someone or seriously injured them. (my daughter needs a rental btw because i doint want her driving her car till it is safe)when my dad found out he went to toyota and guess what? suddenly they had the part for my car and ordered my daughters. They put it in yesterday. When i went to get my car i was informed that my passenger air bag light was on and that it needed a spiral assembly. For 476.00. Right. They said it was not related or covered. I found a web page with sixty three people who had the exact same thing happen to them. Now both my airbag lights are on and my clock does not work. I dont have the money to fix this. It is causing me extreme stress as i take care of my elderly mom and my grand daughter. I believe it is related. God only knows how many others this hhas happened to. It can not be a coincidence.i feel another recall needs to be done as the did do one in canada but on adifferent model car. Cant remember...#nomoretoyotas

Takata recall:in june 2015 i received this notice of a safety recall due to the airbag inflators possibly being manufactured in such a way as to where they could retain moisture which could rupture and cause serious injury or death.iam advised to not let anyone sit in the passenger seat till it is fixed. It has been six months! this is way way beyond a reasonable amount of time to have this fixed. Horrible customer service toyota! i am the care taker of my elderly parents and drive them on errands and to appts ect. I also care for my grand daughter. And carpool to school. This has been a hugh burden on me. For the record my air bag light is always on, and my clock and stereo keep resetting. The passenger airbag constantly blinks and the no seat belt sign blinks and beeps as if someone was sitting therewith out a seatbelt. You are unprepared to fix this situation, and i find this unacceptable. Everytime i get in my car, i am worried they could deflate and injure or kill myself or my parents or granddaughter. Unfortunately i have no choice but to use my vehicle as it is the only one i have. You may contact me asap regarding a rental car until this is resolved. I am no longer putting my life at risk because you are unprepared ! i will be filing a complaint with the bbb as soon as i am done with this, and will contact an attorney if need be. Awaiting your prompt replyregards, linda

Srs warning light began to go on and off intermittently. Toyota dealer fixes by installing new clock assembly. Total cost $465. This assembly is an important part of the airbag system and is failing at a very high rate in these cars. I believe it is defective and should be part of a recall.supposedly if the light is on the airbag is not functional.

The air bag light is on and will not go off. The media says that my model year is in the takata recall and my model is in the toyota recall but only in the "high humidity region". I contacted a dealership and they said they couldn't do anything until toyota caught up entering in the vin numbers for the model years that were added to the recall. This is not safe, this is a malfunctioning part and this needs to be remedied.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota corolla matrix. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated constantly. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v285000 (air bags) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Srs airbag warning light is going on and off, so is the clock. This has happened many times and i find that other owners of this vehicle are having the same problem. There seems to be a connection between the clock and the airbag system being tied together.

My complaint is that it is taking a very long time for toyota to provide the parts to replace the front seat passenger air bags in my vehicle.the air bag was recalled in june; it's now nearly november.not only have they not provided parts, they have not even given a time frame for when parts might be available.when i am not simply going to work alone, i need to be able to put other family members in the back seat and in the front passenger seat.at this time, the only solution provided by toyota is, "don't allow passenger to sit in the front passenger seat".and they are sorry for the inconvenience.how long must i wait to be able to use my car the way it was intended when i purchased it??

Takata recall - received recall notice in spring '15, never received update on remedy. Checked with dealer in oct. '15, told parts still not available. Called dealer today (jan. 9, 2016), was given no information. Called toyota national office, told parts were ready in december for remedy.national office called my dealer (continental toyota, countryside, il, 708-354-5800) to make appointment for remedy.in recall notice, it states to contact you if toyota has failed to remedy the defect within a reasonable time. Have had to cram my wife and two teenage children in the backseat for at least 6 months as we warned not to operate vehicle with occupant in front passenger seat.finally have appointment for monday, jan. 11, 2016

I received notification of a recall several months ago. The letter stated that i should submit a complaint to the nhtsa if i felt that toyota had not remedied the defect within a reasonable time, which is the reason for this complaint. I have asked my local toyota dealer when this will be repaired and have only been told that i will get another notice when parts are available. It is extremely inconvenient to have passengers ride in the back seat all the time since toyota has advised against allowing passengers in the front passenger seat. This is far too long to wait for resolution of this problem.

I've been calling and nobody's answering and nobody's calling back.

Fremont toyota located at (5851 cushing pkwy, fremont, ca 94538) was contacted and confirmed that the part was not available for the recall remedy. I have already had my matrix recalled for airbags and "fixed" - now another recall. The position taken by toyota is it will be fixed soon. I know it's been over a year soon for this 2nd recall and toyota's approach is not to let anyone ride in the passenger seat! really!! i should have the right to use my own car!! i think i should be able to get my money back or at least a portion of it back. Toyota has put greed before the consumer. I want something down and done now! i am tired of waiting for something to be down about this. I will not buy another toyota. I was upset by the first recall and having to take time away from my home and job to have it fixed and now to have another recall and am told not to let anyone sit in the passenger seat!

We received a notice in june regarding a recall of our family vehicle (toyota corolla matrix 2005) for a defect related to the airbags. According to the statement, it has to do with the air bag inflators and, depending on circumstance, could rupture and cause metal fragments to pass through the air bag cushioned material resulting in injury or death. We were told that until a remedy because available in our location to have no one ride in the passenger front seat. That was three months ago. I just looked up the status and there is still no remedy available in our area. This is not a minor issue. It's caused undue stress and inconvenience throughout the entire summer. We have a baby on the way and are concerned that there is still no remedy in place, and we feel a solution has not been provided in a reasonable amount of time. We plan on calling toyota during normal business hours to see if there is any way we can fix the issue ourselves and then submit for a reimbursement. Simply telling customers to have no one ride in the front passenger seat and not provide any additional information--such as when we can expect parts to become available--is poor customer service. Plus, if we have to address the issue ourselves, it will cause unnecessary strain on our already tight budget.

The airbag light turned on and stay there while driving andwhen the vehicle was stationary. It was recalled & replaced, butit's making the same thing.

I received a recall notice from toyota about the front passenger airbag in my car, as you know. It has now been four months since the recall and there is no word from toyota about replacing the airbag. They have advised me not to have a passenger in the front seat until the airbag is replaced. It's ridiculous to go four months without being able to have a passenger. They need to speed this up. They aren't providing me what i purchased--which is a car that i can safely have a passenger in.

Toyota will not let dealerships disable these defective passenger side air bags. Honda recently went through the same thing and they did disable the airbags until the parts were available to fix them. I got a complete run around from toyota's customer service when i called them and was told "it had to go through the state." ridiculous. If it has to be coordinated through the state then toyota should be responsible for that. Why should i be driving around in a car that can have shrapnel flying around in it? "don't let anybody sit right in front of it" is not an acceptable solution. Not to mention they have no idea how long it will be til the parts are available - and this recall went out in june but i am only just now being notified. So 2 mos. Passengers have been sitting on the deadly side. They should not be allowed to get away with this as a business practice - totally unacceptable to put people at risk this way. Please do something about this.

About a year and a half ago the airbag warning light started to come on and off intermittently.i checked with the dealer and was offered to pay for a diagnostic.i decided to do research first and found a whole lot of other owners have this issue.some have taken the car in for services including complete replacement of the airbag system and clock (which happens to have faulty circuit that can result in the warning light coming on and off intermittently.)some have paid over $1k in service fees.i contacted toyota about it.they are not looking to own up to this quality defect.it's not a wear and tear (vehicle age) issue.the culprit appears to be a component that cracks off the pcb on the clock.someone has reported having re-soldered this component to eliminate the intermittent airbag light issue.when will toyota recall?

The contact owns a 2005 toyota corolla matrix. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the srs light illuminated. The problem recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The diagnosis was that the clock spring was cracked. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.

Airbag recall and the "airbag warning light remains illuminated" started.my vehicle was not recalled in the 2003 ' 2008 toyota corolla airbag clock spring replacement recall. It was recalled for the drivers side airbag replacement and during that time the palo alto toyota mechanic tried to fix the light but could not find the appropriate solution. Now my car is recalled for the replacement of the passenger side airbag and remains illuminated.

Air bag light comes on/off at different times. I called toyota 1-800-331-4331 customer service on 8/8/13. Was told my air bag warranty was 5 yrs 60,000 miles. I then had 80,000 miles on the car. I now have 120,000 air bag light still comes on. I called my local toyota dealer they said bring in would cost me 85 dollars to be diagnosed.i feel i shouldn't have to pay for the air bag i cannot control anything about it-there should be no 5 yr 60,000 miles warranty on something i cannot change. Also my clock if barely viewable on my dash.i refuse to pay. I was told no other complaints about this issue have been reported. But i see by this site that it has been reported numerous times.

Takata recallelmore toyota in westminster, ca. Flat out lied to me about myairbag replacement. Elmore toyota is using deceitful tactics, and possibly, unlawful practices. I took my car to elmore on 08/19/2015 for the takata airbag recall. At that time, i told the service guy to check the molding around my windows, it's starting to come out, and needs to be tucked back in a few spots. And i asked him to give me an oil change while it was there. They didn't have replacement parts on hand, so they gave me a rental car, and told me, when the replacement parts arrive, they'll let me know. I call a couple times a week to check on my car, not a single returned call from elmore. Three full months go by, and i get a voice message from elmore telling me that my car was ready, he said to come pick it up, and that they won't pay anymore days on the rental. It's monday 11/23/15, i wash, wax, and gas up the rental, and take it to elmore. Nobody canfind my car. Nobody can find the guy who called me about it being ready for pick up. It wasn't in the computer. I wait, and wait. 45 minutes later, a service guy pulls up in my car, and it'scovered with bird crap, and a (3) month layer of dirt. My car is washed, and waxed, once a week. It was immaculate when i took it to elmore. Obviously, my car sat outside on their lot for (3) months. I look and see that nothing was done with the molding, so i ask if the oil was changed, he didn't know. Hesaid, "all i know is, they fixed the airbag". I asked him for the paperwork on my car, that shows what work was requested, and what work was done. They said they couldn't find any after i waited a other 30 min. I went home and immediately called theguy at elmore and left several messages, and emails, explainingthat they didn't do the molding, or oil, my car was filthy, and no paperwork. Please get it and call me. Nothing.*dt*dtconsumer stated issues with airbag still not resolved and dealer still has not contacted consumer.

Our driver side srs airbag warning light has been intermittently on for over a year. Sometimes it doesn't go out when the car is started and stays on while driving; other times it goes out like normal a few seconds after the car is started, but spontaneously comes on and stays on later while driving. Once it's on, i have to pull over and turn the ignition off, wait a few seconds, and then restart the car to get it to turn off. This is not always successful. The toyota dealer was no help at all - couldn't find anything wrong, and said that i'd need to bring the car back when the light was actually on. Since the problem is inconsistent, i haven't been able to do that. I'm very afraid that someone in my family may be injured should we get in a collision, because i understand that if the light is on, the airbag is inoperable.

I just spoke with toyota regarding the remedy for the airbag recall problem. I was informed that i will be receiving a letter soon that states that they still don't have a remedy for this problem.how long can they get away with potentially endangering my passenger by not repairing this problem?

Airbag light on main instrument panel comes on intermittently, when the car is running. When this light is on, the airbags will not be deployed in an accident. There is a very serious safety concern.having done just a quick search of the internet, it appears that this particular problem is very common, yet there is no recall. It seems most of the issues causing this problem are related to either the spiral airbag cable or the vehicle clock. Please consider the urgency of this, as i have read of folks having high speed head on collisions while the light was on, and the airbags did not deploy.

Received recall notice from toyota. Called local dealership where purchased - they took info and stated they would get parts and call to schedule. They never called back. We called toyota customer experience center to inform we were not getting our recall service. They stated they would contact the dealership to have them call within one business day to initiate service. No one called. I called toyota again, they put me on hold and after 12 minutes on hold i gave up. Toyota is not following through on this recall service which is a deadly condition.

Takata airbag recall.we received the recall letter in august.since then, we have not been able to use our car with anyone in the front passenger seat.that puts a strain on our family...we can't drive the car with 5 people and we think toyota should do something to allow us to use our car in a normal way.they have proposed a loaner car, but we would have to pay the insurance, as our personal car insurance does not cover a long term rental that is due to a recall.as there is no end in sight, that could become impossibly expensive.it just doesn't seem fair to put our family out like this, with no idea when it will end.

Air bag warning light comes on intermittently.took car to dealer and was told that the air bag system will not operate while the warning light is on.i was also told that the problem could not be diagnosed or fixed.

Takata recall. In regards to my recall airbag repair, why is it that my 2004 toyota corolla already had the repair performed? seems i get a different answer everytime i ask that question. Now my 2005 corolla matrix which is currently 11 years old is finally having this repair performed. And toyota's recommendation is that i do not operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat. What about the previous 11 years that rode in that seat with the same defect? if toyota truly cared about my safety, they should have made that suggestion when they first knew of it. But they probably wouldn't have sold very many 4 passenger corollas set-up with 3 people in the back seat and only the driver sitting in front. Heck, to ensure the safety of their customers they should have removed the front passenger seat or removed the back of that seat along with the seat-belt to guarantee nobody rides in that seat. But none of those things happened simply because truth be told, it only became a safety issue once toyota had to come to terms with the defect; their behavior is simply unacceptable. A sincere apology would state "for any inconveniences this has caused." instead of "we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this will cause, but we are taking this action to ensure your safety." caught in their own lie is what really occurred again if they truly cared we would have known about this problem asap.....the people i feel the most pain for are those unfortunate people who got into a front car accident and did everything right, but their airbag, that was supposed to save their life, wound up either injuring them or not doing its intended job all while toyota knew of the problem. I hope nobody lost their life due to this because no amount of money can ever bring back that person. Just so un-japanese behavior by a japanese company, shame toyota motors.

Called dealer to ask about recall, they said they would order parts and to bring car in a week later.called today and they said they don't have the parts yet.please advise when this recall will be fixed as it is dangerous and not acceptable to not allow passengers in the car.

Takata recall: i received a safety recall notice for my 2005 toyota matrix in the mail over 9 months ago stating that when parts are available, toyota will reach out to me to "remedy the defect".and that in the the meantime "until the remedy becomes available in my location, it is recommended that i do not operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat." i have not received any further notifications regarding this and believe that toyota has failed to remedy the defect within a reasonable time. Please let me know at your earliest convenience when i can expect to have this remedied.

Recently my air bag light started coming on intermittently. After searching toyota/matrix forums, i have found the 2003-2008 toyota matrix has had numerous complaints regarding the air bag system. It is common for the clock to stop working, which cases the air bags to stop functioning properly. This also seems to be a common problem with the 2003-2008 corolla. I don't mind that my clock doesn't work; however, it is a safety issue if it is the cause of the air bag malfunction and toyota should rectify the problem.

Takata recall: my complaint is that the nhtsa site says the recall was 6/16/2015. I only got the notice in probably august but there is not date on it.this means i cannot carry a passenger in my front passenger seat without liability. I have called the dealer and toyota. Neither knows any time this will be fixed in my area, oregon.it is ridiculous that i have to can't carry a passenger in my car for such a long time.is there a fix? when are you requiring toyota to supply parts? can i ask them forarental car until they get this fixed? they should have dated their letter!

I have tried so many times requesting toyota recall team for remedy.they connect me to the local dealer on telephone. Three times the local dealer gave me appointments.but, when i have gone as per the appointments, the dealer told me the part was not available.in general, the company unable to do the recall remedy.

Airbag light is on all of the time. All 2005 matrix seem to have the same problem.this means that in an accident no airbags. The cure for the problem is replacement of the- spiral cable clock spring.

Had just picked up car from lynch toyota and $1,000 worth of repairs including 02 sensor b/c check engine & tpms lights were on. While driving 65 m.p.h. On highway vehicle began accelerating on its' own up to 80 m.p.h. I depressed brake and slowed speed but upon removing foot from brake car began accelerating to 80 m.p.h. A second time, so i made sure my foot was not on gas pedal and depressed brake again which slowed speed but car accelerated a third time to 80 m.p.h. And my foot was not on gas pedal but when i tried to depress brake it resisted and would not engage no matter how hard i pressed, so i jammed down on gas pedal a few times and it "revved" as if in park- doing this seemed to kick the car out of phantom driving mode and allowed me to depress the brake and drive straight back to lynch toyota. Toyota had my car for over a day and said they sent the test results to ca but "could not confirm condition" and it was "operating according to design"- that possible cause was aftermarket floor mat or "pedal mis-application" but the floor mat doesn't reach the brake pedal and this occurred three (3) times over a short time span and ideliberately lifted my foot off the gas pedal so it couldn't be mis-application. There are many reported issues with the 2005 matrix and other years, too as well as other toyota models but each incident ends with toyota failing to confirm any issues but clearly, there are acceleration, pedal or electronic problems.

I had to replace my engine control module (ecm) because the engine would loose power and cut off while driving on street. This became noticeable after a rain storm. I was told because my vehicle was a matrix xrs, it was not included in a recall for the other matrix models; therefore i spent approx. $1000 in having the ecm replaced. I had all of the same cited symptoms. Please include my engine in the recall so i may be reimbursed. Thanks you.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota corolla matrix. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled and the entire instrument panel illuminated.the vehicle could be restarted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 145,000.

My driver's side door - the electric door lock works sometimes, most times it doesn't.all the other electric locks in the car continue to work.

My matrix will shut off while im driving everything oints to the ecm being bad. My vin # is not part of the recall but i feel it should be. It is very dangerous.

Stopped at a stop light after coming off of a highway exit, and car stalled. Battery light came on. Restarted ignition and car worked fine for a few miles. Stalled again after coming to a complete stop at a stop sign. Strongly believe ecm is faulty. Could be connected to toyota recall 10v384000.

My air bag light and my check engine light came on and would not go out. A balise toyota technician, west springfield, ma, diagnosed the problem as a faulty spiral coil assemby. Balise's assistant service manager, karl subklew, stated this was a safety issue. I contacted/notified toyota; toyota has recalled other toyota makes and models for this safety issue, but refused to apply the recall to my 2005 toyota corolla matrix. They told me to notify my attorney general. The cost was significant to me to have the spiral coil replaced on 7/18/14.this toyota defect in matrix and pontiac vibe models needs to be investigated and included in the toyota recall for this issue.i also feel toyota should fully reimburse me for my cost to have this faulty safety item replaced.

My friend was driving down southside when his car began to uncontrollably accelerate and he lost all his power assist features like power steering and brakes it caused him to be t boned by a suv no airbags deployed and he almost died i just want this to be resolved i dont want this to happen to someone else

Engine stalled on toyota matrix 2005.took to dealership and charged me a bunch to fix .they replaced the computer, but talked me into doing a bunch of other stuff they said would fix it.

Only 94,000 miles, fully dealer maintained, 5 speed manual transmission.traveling at expressway speeds and loud screeching/banging from transmission.was able to drive 6 more miles to dealership, but moved to right lane and went slower.still was able to shift, lower gears weren't engaging properly andcar started dying on the road.dealer diagnosis for $100 is that it needs an entire new 5 spd trans and clutch assembly, although clutch seems fine.i've driven manual trans for over 40 yrs.this car never even had a clutch repair.research on the web indicates that this is a known point of failure that toyota has chosen not to fix and the potential danger of having this transmission blowing out at high speed could have caused a major crash on the highway had i not been skilled at getting the car into a safe area.

I owe a toyota matrix 2005, which was purchased on 11/2004. The car currently has 23,280 miles and has been routinely serviced at westchester toyota since its purchase.before bringing my car in for service to westchester toyotaon 11/11/10, the 'check engine light' had never come on and my car was not generating the current vibrating noise.i am not qualified to determine whether wt could have intentionally or inadvertently caused the damage to my car, but i considerthe possibility that the damage to my car's transmission could have been caused by them.based on what the service manager , mr. William vesey, indicated during my meetings with him, the transmission may had been damaged /malfunctioning all along while the car was still under warranty but the damage/malfunction was never detected because the original ecm on the car may have not been able to detect the damage since the ecm was faulty itself. For this reason, when the ecm was replaced on 11/11/10 due to the recall, the new ecm was able to detect the problem with the transmission and generated the transmission error code.since the ecm was recalled after my warranty had expired and its malfunctioning most likely prevented thedetection of the transmission error, i belief toyota should be responsible for replacing the transmission. In addition , the transmission also appears to be a faulty part which may be recalled in the future based on the technical service bulletin provided to me by mr. Vesey.westchester toyota should be responsible for replacing the transmission, free of charge including any labor and parts charges. Toyota motor sales usa should authorize and cover the charges for the transmission replacement. The earlier recall of my car's engine control module (ecm) would have allowed for the detection of any transmission problems while my car was still under warranty.

Driver's window. My wife had just started her 2005 toyota matrix and put the window down. When she put it back up, the window suddenly rotated and started to slide down inside the door. I was able to manually pull the glass back into position. We tried putting it up a second time and the window tried to rotate down inside the door again. After realigning it and gently leaning on the glass, we were able to fully close the window. The car has 150,000 miles. This is the exact same issue that has occured in the '03 & '04 models, nhtsa # 08v162000
