I have a toyota camery 2013. I have no accident at all since i bought this car. But about 1 year ago, my airbag light is on automatically with on reason. I felt my life is in danger because if there is a collision happens, my airbag wont pump out.i have visited to different car dealor. They said the wire circuit might be wrong since they tried to switch airbag modules or the sensor nothing works so far. I assume the airbag which is the key component for our drivers' safety should be more robust than what i experienced.
The airbag safety light has come on and remained on for 2 weeksthe dealership told me it's a failed sensor. I have never been on a car crash. The airbag sensor is expected to remain functional for the life of the vehicle. Otherwise, my airbag might deploy unexpectedly or fail to deploy when i need them.

, i have permanent ear damage as a result of the deployment of air bags in a 2012 toyota camry i was driving.i was in an accident and was the reason for the air bag deployment.i injured my ears on august 4, 2013 as the result of the deployment of the air bags in the 2013 camry and my hearing has not improved.i will have to live with a 20% hearing loss for the rest of my life.i also understand the camry was not the fault of my accident but i feel the air bags are a contributing factor for my hearing loss. On august 4, 2013 at 5:15 pm, i was one of three cars involved in a car accident on highway 10 and cr 663 in oklahoma.i was visiting from michigan with my widowed sister, she lives in wyandotte, oklahoma and we were returning to her home after buying a dairy queen. A car traveling at 65 miles per hour in a white kia came across the center line and slammed into me between the driver's side front wheel and door than she continued on to hit a pickup truck that was behind me head on.the pickup truck was hit with such a force that it over turned, pinning the driver inside.

Unexpected accelerationon january 30, 2017, at 7:50 am, my car experienced ua in my office parking lot at 4917 waters edge drive, raleigh, nc 27606 while backing into a parking space. My car increased speed, knocking down a wooden retaining wall and attempting to climb a hill. I then after several attempts was able to placed the car in drive only to have it shoot across the parking lot, t-boning a car entering and knocking it on the sidewalk while i continued onto the yard. I was finally able to placed car in drive and the motor continued to rev until after several attempts was able to shut it down.of note, none of my car's airbags deployed. However, the other vehicle's both side passenger air bags deployed. I went on line and reported my problem to toyota with pictures and police report the next day. Air bags did not deployed after accident
I was t-boned at an intersection where the other driver was at fault, he hit me on the drivers side clipping about 4-5 inched of the drivers door & caved in the rear quarter panel & rear tire. The driver side window curtain deployed but it hardly had any air in it, seems like it leaked out with some smoky substance & the drivers side seat seam opened up but the airbag did no deploy & the rear seat on the side of direct impact also opened up at the seam but the airbag didn't deploy either. Luckily no one was in the back seat & i was only bruised up on my neck, chest & shoulder by the seat belt which did work. I took pictures of the seats.

Not a one! the car is totaled , all sides have damage. Even the police thought there was something wrong with the airbags. This is not right. I bought it for safety and it failed me. Big time.

April 13, 2018 my 2013 toyota camry entire overhead center roof console box assembly had to be replaced. This was required due to excessive heat exposure causing warping, cracking and melting of the small grey plastic facing that houses the small black buttons: 3 garage door buttons, two interior inside light buttons flanked by the open / close and up / down buttons. This was never a problem in any extreme weather conditions since it was purchased as a new car until april 10, 2018. The issue occurred during hot whether where the car was parked in an open residential lot with and without a sun screen visor. The toyota dealer inspected the assembly and stated that it was not able to detect an electrical malfunction. The dealer said this same issue occurred in 2 to 3 other toyota camrys at that dealership where the dealer was unable to establish an electrical problem.my concern is / was that the heat was so intense that the plastic framing about 3' by 5' was actually malleable to the point that i could straighten out the deformed pieces and push the frame back into position to hold in place until the next time it overheated and feel out of place. The car is not under extended warrant. But the safety concern is about some unknown cause of overheating that appears to be far more than hot weather conditions. The 2013 toyota camry entire overhead center roof console box assembly part no.is 63650-06432-b0. I paid $223.90 for the part and installation of the full assembly. No warranty or guaranty is offered by toyota on the new installation should this reoccur any time soon.the dealer indicated that there are / have been recalls for the same issue on toyota forerunners but not on 2013 camrys. I believe that a potential electrical recall should be investigated for safety reasons. See 5 attachments
The electrical locks have not worked properly in the last year.it has been a consistent issue.it started with one lock and then another one had issues until all four do not properly lock.there is no reason why this should have occurred when the car was less than 4 years old.there was a recall in 2014 but i did not receive a notice about issues with the electrical system.mostly likely because the recall campaign did not include all cars that were affected.
The contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. We leased a 2013 toyota camry xle on friday march 29th, 2013 at 9:00 pm. From manhattan beach toyota in manhattan beach california. The very next day, saturday march 30th, 2013 while driving northbound onhighway 99 near bakersfield at 65 miles per hour to lindsay california from inglewood california, i heard a "ding" sound and i felt the steering wheel stiffen up. I had to immediately hold on tightly to the steering wheel to try and keep control of the car. I then noticed all of the dashboard lights had turned on. I also noticed that all of the gauges were no longer functioning. My wife and i were very terrified as we immediately thought of that poor family that lost their lives during a toyota malfunction. As i tried to keep control of the car, looking for an exit off the highway, i realized that the power steering was no longer working. The car was difficult to maneuver, but i was able to pull off the highway and take the car to bill wright toyota nearby. They were unable to fix the car that day and i had to leave it there. The car was in their possession for 6 days as i was told that a toyota engineer needed to go to bakersfield and fix the problem. Toyota had to replace the whole electronic control unit.
I have had problems for the last year with the 2013 toyota camry. The car while driver starts sputtering electrical will go out. This occurs when the car gets to about 25 mph. I took it to the toyota dealer who informed me there was a recall on the torque converterand that was replaced. I was told there was nothing wrong with the electrical. The car continued to perform in the capacity. I took the car back and was told there was another recall and the car was repaired. The car continued and i took the car to another mechanic. He informed me thetransmission was gone. At no time did any lights come on the vehicle to make me aware of the issue. I took the car back to the dealer. The dealer confirmed what the previous mechanic stated. I contacted toyota who offered 1,000 towards repairs. The repairs are over 6k. I still owe toyota 15k for this car and they could not offer an explanation on why a transmission went out after 3 years
While driving the vehicle either on a city street or highway or turning the vehicle comes to a complete stop. Nothing works, car wont start , key will notmove, gear is stuck. This has happen three times within a year. The dealer has check it out but has no answer to why it happens.my air-condition fogs up the window, as so does the heater making the visibility difficult. There was also a strong odor of gas when you make a turn. All my complaints have been reported but nothing done. My fear is a major accident will be cause because of this.
The contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. While parked, the vehicle accelerated without warning when the contact removed the key from the ignition. My boyfriend was driving my 2013 toyota camry se on the interstate when out of without warning the abs, brake and traction lights came on; the steering wheel tightened and he could barely get the car to turn onto the on ramp to get off at the next exit. We also realized that the air conditioning is no longer working as well the gauges on the dashboard.considering we were driving at a high rate of speed and the power steering basically became inoperable, it was very scary and unsafe. I spoke with toyota about the recall on the 2013 vehicles for the air conditioning condenser and was told that my vehicle was included in that problem. However the car was repaired for that recall in 2014, which was prior to me owning the car. After, the car has been repair under a recall, there's a one year warranty on that repair. So we're basically out of luck and have to pay for this repair ourselves.

My wife has a 2013 camry with 28,000 miles.we have been having a issue with the brake light switch which also works with the antilock brakes and the shifter.my wife was at work late and could not get it out of park.i did some research and found the switch and tapped on it and if finally allowed us to get it home.
I was drove the car for shopping 25 miles away from home at 9:00 am. At 11:50 am, on the way back, the back shook slightly and made small noises that were unfamiliar. I checked to see if the shift gear was set correctly and windows were closed, which they were. There was no unusual blinking of driver panel light indicating any type of warning. When i arrived at the drive way at 12:30pm, turning into the front of the house as usual, the car suddenly accelerated and my car ran into the garage door and side of the house.
Two of the door locks no longer work with the key fob or the buttons on the door panel; the key must be used to unlock the door or you have to slide the lock manually. The drivers side door stopped working first then the drivers side passenger door stopped a month or so later.
Electrical burning smell when heat is on. Taking the car to toyota dealer.
The navigation system, which is all electronic in these new models, is randomly malfunctioning, and gives improper voice commands that have caused me to make sudden and unsafe turns. It once told me in the middle of the 405 freeway: "turn left now". It stops navigating on on its own when you haven't reached your destination. It tells you to turn in 300 yards, yet the turn is actually more like 30 yards. While parked at my home address, the navigation displays an address4 to 5 houses away, (it's about 80 yards away). The system jumped from being on the southbound 405 freeway to the street and said: "route recalculation". These malfunctions are random. My wife and i have actually started video taping the navigation system in action to show the malfunctions. We have actual video footage of the malfunctions. I have tried to have toyota repair the unit, but was told that there is no software update. Now, i am being told that the navigation system is "operating as designed". This is also not safe to drive as it isdistracting, misleading and it doesn't allow me to maintain road awareness. This vehicle is not safe to drive while the navigation is in use.
Three of four car door locks, all of which should be automatic, have stopped working when trying to lock/unlock the car, both with remote and inside of car using driver's side car lock buttons.forces us to manually lock/unlock each door lock when using the vehicle and letting any passengers in.locks have to be manually locked when leaving the vehicle as well.i believe this issue should be addressed by manufacturer repair/replacement.

My car got 3 lights on ( emergency brake, traction control and abs light on) then after that the power for the steering wheel stop and becomes very heavy and not drivable.
The steering wheel gets hard to move and appears that the electrical system turns off while driving, yet car continues going. But when this happens, steering wheel is hard to move and radio, a.c. Goes off while everything else is on motion and mainly while turning, it has happened multiple times. The first times about 2 years ago, but never again, then it started happening again this last 2 weeks. However, yesterday it happened more than 10 times in 1 hour, very scary. My husband took it yo the dealer las week and was told there is no recall yet, on the internet we found hundreds of cars camry reported with same problem.is scary.
Car was in an accident and my grandchildren were unable to get out the back door because the locks wouldn't work, this is happened with my 2002 camry also they take turns working and sometimes not at all i have to open it manually which it doesn't have a key to enter from the passenger side
The power door locks have stopped working except for the passenger real door.
Problem with acceleration the car doesn't accelerate more than 30m/h daignosedbu toyota dealer as throttle pedal position sensor failure .the car has 94k only although i have extended warantee purchesed when i bought the car but toyota company refuse to honour it saying it's only covering engine and transmission.
I was driving on m-80 across illinois, for about 2 hours on cruise control, set at 69 mph.i suddenly realized that the car seemed to be going too fast, as i passed a couple cars rather quickly.i glanced at the speedometer and saw it, in about one second, go from 85 mph to 87 mph and i immediately braked, thereby stopping the cruise control (?) from continuing to accelerate the car.when this happened, i did not have my foot on the gas pedal or my hand near the cruise control mechanism.the car just simply accelerated quickly on it's own.i tried to continue to use cruise control to drive back to michigan, however shortly thereafter, it began to rain/snow so i didn't use the cruise control after that.this is a new car that i just bought in september.

This is a very dangerous issue. My car is currently back at pat lobb toyota waiting on their diagnosis once again!
On a cold start, the engine sounds rough for about a second or two.grinding type noise.completely different from the normal warm-engine start-up sounds.also, the engine does not sound right for about the first mile or so after a cold start, sort of a whining noise from the front right side of the engine compartment. Clearly audible when lightly revving between 1500-2000 rpms. Although tsb-004-13-a has not yet been expanded to include the 2013 camry, it sounds a lot like that exact issue may be affecting the 2013s.this 2013 was built in the same plant as the 2010-12 camrys that are part of the tsb. I have taken it to the dealer twice and was told that 'these sounds are within the normal range of noises an engine can make'. I disagree.the vehicle now has 37k miles on it, i am hoping it will be fixed prior to the expiration of the powertrain warranty (60k).
The contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle the check engine light illuminated.the contact inspected the vehicle and found that rodents had damaged the electrical wiring by attempting to build a nest inside the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified but no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 6000. Updated 02/11/2014
For the last week my vehicle has been randomly stalling out intermittently. There have been no check engine lights, codes or other issues. On the morning of june 9th 2018 my vehicle continued accelerating without my foot on the pedal. It barely stopped causing me to go over a curb damaging bumper and brake caliper. I am not driving the vehicle and it cannot be looked at until june 13
The vvt camshaft gear is defective on many toyotas this is common knowledge toyota is aware of the problem has issued recalls on lexus models only this could be dangerous causing engine failure mine has only 67000 miles is making the rattling noise
When accelerating from a stop the vehicle will sometimes move about 10 feet and then hesitate for about 1 to 2 seconds. It will then accelerate normally
Car seems to have slight fuel feed problem - you can feel the car slightly hesitating sometimes when just driving down the road.every once in a while, when pulling out onto busy boulevard, after you have pulled half way out in the road, the car will not go, even tho you are stepping on the gas.this is very scary, because the other cars are coming at you, and they are expecting you to move on out of the way.the problem is intermittent: it seems to happen mostly after the car has been driven a little bit, like going to the store, then car sits for awhile, then you get back in and drive, and that is when it happens.
Toyota has another throttle problem.i bought a 2103 camry se on march 30th 2013 from larry miller toyota and it exhibits an intermittent throttle problem.when i start from a stop some times it seems as if the engine dies. It does not as the engine does not need to be restarted. The throttle is simply non-responsive. The car moves ahead a little and virtually dies. This can occur going straight ahead, turning right or worse yet in the process of making a left turn. This is very much a safety issue when executing a turn when it appears one has a break in traffic and the car barely moves.the car has been back to the dealer and there is no failure code so they say they cannot verify the problem and that it is working as it should. I went out for a short ride with the shop foreman and i could not replicate the problem. He did say that he had 3 or 4 other vehicles with a similar problem. I did leave the car with them for 2 days and they drove it 54 miles and could not duplicate the problem. My suggestion to the dealer and to toyota is to determine what is most likely to cause this problem and replace it and see if this will fix it. They will not do this. It must be a problem they can verify ?find a failure code?. I have asked them to replace the throttle transducer which is $250 if replacing it does not fix the problem i would pay for it. The lack of a failure code just means it is not a hard problem and failing in a manner they anticipated when they set up there failure trouble shooting procedures.

I have mentioned it 3 times on 3 different service visits to dealer.each time they write it off as transmission gear shifting with 6 speed auto transmission. I do not buy this due to every car i have driven the engine's are quiet at these speeds and do not make the high whining noise my car makes.matter of fact, they were considerably quiet to the point you cannot even hardly hear the engine.i know that this is not exactly a safety issue but a great concern in which i am being ignored.just wanted to see if anyone else has this issue as well.note that i am a automotive glass parts supplier & electrical engineer and i do not imagine things.
While driving uphill on i80 in pa our engine suddenly lost power.warning light flashed and buzzer sounded. We were able to move over a lane and then off road.we were lucky.after shutting off power switch, we were able to start and accelerate normally.we noticed that ourhybrid 3013 camry was then no longer in eco mode. We then figured out what happened. Reaching into the storage compartment, i accidentally touched the ev button whichturned off the gas engine.the electric motor was not strong enough alone to keep up a safe speed.we suddenly decelerated and luckily were able to avoida serious accident.
When accelerating from a stop the vehicle will sometimes move about 10 feet and then hesitate for about 1 to 2 seconds. It will then accelerate normally. One time the vehicle accelerated to about 20 mph and then the engine rpm returned to idle. The accelerator was pushed to the floor and the rpm remained at idle. The accelerator was released and pushed down again. The vehicle accelerated normally. This happened only one time. The intermittent hesitation is very dangerous when trying to cross a busy intersection when the cross traffic is uncontrolled. The vehicle was taken to the dealership for the problem. The technician could not duplicate the condition. The u760e torque converter shudder recall upgrade was performed. This did not fix the problem. The service advisor said that the technician said that some transmission hesitation was normal. The service advisor also said there had been other complaints about this condition. There are also complaints on the online automobile forums. This condition is dangerous and not normal.

I was traveling approximately 26mph into an intersection and my car started slowing down for no reason. As i entered the intersection, i started pushing down on the accelerator to get out of the way of the other ma 10/22/2015 cars trying to get through the intersection. As i kept pumping on the accelerator my transmission apparently down shifted into a lower gear and the car took off in a giant leap forward, almost broad siding the car that was passing in front of me. My car has continually stalled many times since then. I reported the problem to toyota where i bought the car, they said they had never heard of such a thing before. I'm not sure what to do now?updated 10/26/2017
When i get to 20 mph my car will loose powerfor just a second or two.
The car hesitates when you push the gas at around 20 to 25 mph.
The contact owned a 2013 toyota camry hv.while driving at low speeds, the brake pedal was applied but was stiff and the engine reeved up. The vehicle went across a three lane highway and crashed into a curb without warning. The air bags did not deploy.a police report was filed.there were no reported injuries.the vehicle was towed to cloninger toyota located at 511 jake alexander blvd s, salisbury, nc 28147, phone number: (704) 754-4342 but was not diagnosed or repaired. The insurance company deemed the vehicle a total loss. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 25,000.
The car engine and rpm go up when the car go down hill or you slow down in traffic at speed 45/35/25 mph.definitely it happen more often at speed of 25/35 mph with full tank or 3/4 of gas tank. When i'm down hill at speed 30 or more then come to the point you need to slow down to make a turn at 25 mph the rpm when up to at some point the rpm up to 2.5 x 1000.i have notice this issue at my toyota dealer when my service 10,000 mile and they test the car and said nothing happen to the car. I'm concerning i might end up out of control the car if this issue continues happen and i'll be in the car accident.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
They asked for a written consent to allow them to get the data recorder. After numerous calls to follow-up, on may 12 i received a response that when they drove the vehicle everything was fine.
The contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 20 mph, the steering wheel would shake violently and the vehicle would veer to the side. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the two front tires were defective and needed to be replaced. The tires were replaced. However, the failure recurred. In addition, the contact stated that when starting the engine, there was a loud noise present. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 41,912. Ma 9/22
I bought a 2013 toyota camry from germain toyota, columbus ohio less than 24 hours ago on 10/26/2013, this was a toyota certified used car with 160 point inspection and 3 year/36,000 and 7 year/100,000 powertrain warranty, was hardly 6 months old with only 8,274 miles on it when i took possession. In less than 24 hours back in dayton some major problem appeared while driving, first the engine started making some small noise but no warning indicator came up on the dashboard, later on after about a mile it suddenly and completely stopped while i slowed down for a red traffic light. I turned off the ignition and restarted the car, then it suddenly stopped again while getting on the i-75 highway exit. There were cars behind me and crossing by and it was a very dangerous situation considering it suddenly and completely stopped while driving as i slowed down a little bit. All this happened without any warning indicator on the dashboard, and considering this is a current year 2013 camry model with toyota certified and very low mileage this is extremely unsatisfactory and put me and my wife at danger. I'll also try to contact the dealer and toyota customer service separately, i'm also not sure if toyota or the dealer had any prior knowledge of the defect or were just careless considering they did a 160 point inspection and sold this as a toyota certified used car.considering i bought this less than 24 hours ago, i'll try to return this to the dealer and if there is any hassle i would like to pursue this further in the court. Please contact me if nhtsa would like to test or look at the vehicle.
This incident occurred on october 14, 2014 at approximately 2pm. I was leaving my dentist's parking lot. I backed out of my parking spot, stopped and with my foot on the brake to shift into drive, the car shot backward at a very high rate of speed. To avoid hitting the building i turned the wheel sharply, but could not avoid hitting a parked car. Damage to my vehicle was almost $3000. I reported the incident to toyota and they did an inspection on my vehicle and said they found nothing wrong so i must take responsibility for the accident.
Hesitation occurs when accelerating across an intersection or pulling into traffic, usually from a stopped position. Car initially starts then hesitates & feels like it will shut off. To get across the intersection you need to "floor it" which makes the engine "roar" but little action for all the noise. This has happened numerous times in 2 yrs (estimated date & mileage for 1st occurrence).sometimes there are long stretches between occurrences. It is dangerous & i lack confidence at times to pull out. The technician didn't experience the problem when mentioned on 2 stops at the deal for an oil change.torque converter software update made no difference. My previous camry never had this problem.
Within two or three days after the 10,000 mile check-up(july 3,2014) my wife and i noticed a stagnant odor coming from the a/c vents on first start up in the morning.a/c had been set on recycle air.we set the a/c to run with air flow on vent and odor is still there.a/c ran for awhile and odor would go away.odor just got worse on every start up.carried to toyota service department where we purchased camry and let the service manager smell the odor coming from the a/c vents at 8 am july 20, 2014.he said he could smell it.the service dept. Kept the camry july 20 and 21.i talked with the service manager around 3:20 pm on the 21.he said toyota tech. Dept. Had sent them a bulletin stating to change the cabin air filter with a charcoal lined cabin air filter and to run the a/c on vent for awhile before shutting engine down so a/c system could drain.july 24th., service dept. Installing charcoal lined cabin air filter.service dept. Said a/c system would have to dry out when asked about mold and bacteria build up.this problem has not really been addressed by service dept. Except for turning on car heater to dry a/c system out.odor did not go away.my wife drove camry on a trip july 12-14, 2014 where she drove for seven and a half hours each way.six days later she developed a severe sore throat.she went to our local doctor on july 23rd.he gave her a steroid shot and said it could be related to the above problem but was not strep throat.we are worried about the build up of mold and bacteria.
Anytime during warm weather when the air conditioner has been/is being used there is a disgusting foul mildew odor immediately upon starting the vehicle. The odor is nauseating and causes headaches. Every time the car is driven, i have to turn on the heat and put all the windows down for about 5-10 minutes to get rid of the odor. Apparently there is an issue with condensation from the ac not draining properly. I have been able to find several similar complaints online.some dealerships claim they have never heard of this issue, while others admit that they are aware of it but that toyota has no "fix" for it. Breathing in mold is a safety concern. This does not occur in the winter when ac is not used.

2013 toyota camry.consumer writes in regards to hvac assembly and ac system issues.the consumer stated the vehicle was taken to the dealer on 4 separate occasions, for the odor issue coming from the ac and the mildew and fungus growth in the padding and carpet.
The contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. The contact stated that when driving on roads without ambient lighting, the headlights would only illuminate a short distance. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 5,500. Updated 7/31/13 when on an un-lit road, using the normal headlights, the top half to two thirds of the windshield was entirely blacked out, an effect similar to that of a black curtain descending over the windshield, whichmade it absolutely impossible to see anything ahead except the immediate few feet in front of the vehicle. Curves on the rods, animals, pedestrians, etc were impossible to see with enough time to react. The dealer adjusted the headlights slightly upward to the limit of nc law, but the problem still exists.
The windshield washer (won't spray)does not work. I thought i saw a previous recall for windshield wiper/washer on this vehicle??? it has never been repaired/replaced. Also, the high beams (exterior bright lights won't work) i only have low beams. Thanks for your help.
The contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. The contact stated that visibility was reduced during night driving due to dim headlights. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who adjusted the headlights. The contact mentioned that the failure recurred after the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 1.
Three separate unrelated incidents:1.while driving in freeway traffic and attempting to blend into side lane, there was no power for a brief second and then a surge which made us decide to stay in the current lane. The repair man said he had heard this concern from other 2013 camry owners, but i needed to learn to drive this as a new vehicle.2.dealer put us off when we asked about recall due to a problem with the airbags.when we e-mailed toyota they referred us back to our local dealer.we felt caught between them.this has finally been dealt with.3.starting the camry which was parked in our garage,(outside temperatures were below zero) there was a rumbling and a pop. I called our dealer to be sure i should drive into town. When i went to their local office, they told me that this had happened to other owners and it was because of the new federal guidelines for fuel efficiency which made parts closer together and the need to use a thinner oil which would settle and cause this bang.yet, they also said that none of their lot cars had experienced this and they were not in garages.
New vehicle after a cold start refused to accelerate.it had 2/3 tank of fuel, brakes released, and no interference with the gas peddle. Vehicle would not accelerate past 15 mph and would hesitate and stumble to the point of engine stall when pressure on gas peddle increased.engine warning lights did not indicate a problem. Restarted engine several times on the way to dealer service shop. About two miles from the dealer, the problem seemed to resolve itself.dealer service could not replicate problem as of this writing and will remain with them over this weekend in the hope that the source of the problem is found and resolved. Thankfully the lack of engine response developed while driving my subdivision streets and did not contribute to and accident.it is noted that there are similar complaints for this problem on 2013 camry,s listed by owners on the internet with no noted resolution.

I have a 2013 toyota camry xle. That smells like rotten eggs when you press gas paddle. The smell comes out the exhaust pipe. Vehicles that drive behind the car smell it, to the point they back off as far as they can get. There are any warning lights coming on the dash indicating somethings wrong. I've taken the car to the toyota dealership three times and 2-toyota automotive shops. Everyone states that because the check engine light isn't on they can't tell where the smell or problem is coming from. I've switched gas from regular to midgrade & from midgrade to premium. I've had an fuel injection & fuel induction, radiators flush and nothing helped. This is my 4th camry and will be the last. I don't know if its the eco or because it's and xle. But its terrible. 😢
I was parking on my church parking lot, pulling up to the building and barely moving.suddenly the car accelerated and slammed into the church building.i then put it in reverse to see the damage, and it shot backwards into a car and the church van.
When i am driving while using my cruise control i've notice the car would speed up or slow down on it"s own. It happens very often. So i just quit using my cruise control for fear of something worse happening.this has been going on ever since i purchased the vehicle.

Sometimes when starting fro a red light, or making a turn, and stepping on the gas lightly, the car will get up 12 to 15 miles perhour and there will be a complete hesitation and and lag and then suddenly the car will take off and speed up.the speed is then controllable and the brakes do work, when this happens, this causes cars behind me to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting me and when my auto speeds up, tol try to contol my car so i do not hit the cars ahead of me.this does not always happen, but when it does, it is a dangerous and scary situation. When i brought the car into the dealer, my assigned toyota service adviser screamed at me and said " do you know how many drivers come in and tell me the same story"?. One hour later he came back to me said " the service tech did not find anything wrong with the car, do you expect us to keep it here and see if it happens again"? ma 10/14updated 12/12/2017

Problem in automactic transmission. It vibrates between 40-50 mph. Car is only 78k miles right now. I changed brakes/rotors and both cv axles and nothing changed. Something is wrong in the transmission. It happens in city or highway.

My car stalls every time i pull of from a red light or try to pick up speed after going slow and jerks at times. It's like the car is not changing gears
After stopping at intersection, then step on gas to turn right, car makes the turn out into the road, but then engine begins to rev as if the transmission has shifted into neutral.after letting off the gas pedal for a second or two the car will recover and act normally.this is very dangerous when pulling onto a busy street.
When i get to 20 mph my car will loose powerfor just a second or two.

The contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. The contact stated while driving at low speeds, the vehicle would hesitate. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving the vehicle to his destination. The contact called and made the local dealer aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 171,000.
My car would stall and come to a stop unpredictably.it has happened when the car was in motion at low speeds and during turns. The car would stall and come to a stop. Sometimes it can be started after you shut down the engine, sometimes you have to try a couple times in order to start again. Toyota dealership was able to test and find stalling history but was not able to find to problem. They said they would test drive and try to duplicate the problem. After 2 weeks, they said they couldn't duplicate it and couldn't work on it any further and told me to take the car back.aftertaking the car back, 2 days later it stalled again and it was brought into another toyota dealership.

The transmission shudders and hesitates on acceleration. This happens intermittently. I usually notice it when accelerating from a complete stop. It happens just before the transmission shifts to the next gear.
On several occasions over the last month i have noticed the car stalls when you attempt to drive in reverse. Most recently it did the same thing while the car was in drive. Scheduled for car to go to dealer 8/29/14.
I experienced an sudden unintended acceleration condition on my 2013 camry se on 08/20/2013. The car hit a big tree and was not repairable, total-ed. Thanks to the air-bags, i only had a couple of bruises here and there.
Torque converter not good in this car. Vehicle makes vibration between 40-50mph but if i let go off the accelerator it goes away instantly. Changed brakes changes cv axles. Transmission is the issue car is only 78k miles 2013 camry le. I believe a recall might be needed? thanks
When vehicle stop and then accelerate, at aroud 2000rpm it stalls and rpm drops about to1800rpm then suddenly accelerate.
The contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. While the vehicle was parked on a hill, the contact attempted to switch the gear into drive, but the shifting gear failed to lock in the drive position. The contact had to reverse the vehicle off the hill in order to place the vehicle in drive. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 27,000.
The car stutters really bad at low speeds, i went to the dealership and they said i was outside of warranty by two weeks but it was the torque converter, i have been having this problem off and on for years but thought it was something small because it wouldn't last long, however for the past 3 months or so it has gotten progressively worse and does it every time, we thought we would have to pay for a diagnostics which is over $100 which is why we didn't take it sooner, however the day that we took it they said it was out of warranty by 2 weeks and when we called toyota they would not take responsibility for it even though this is a known issue with my year make and model toyota, just asking for help getting this hazardous and safety issue recalled.
This vehicle hesitates for 4 seconds when transmission switches gears. Car was taken back to dealer and after 2 software updates and a new torque converter they said the car couldnt be fixed. This car is dangerous and will most definitely cause an accident rear end collision.
Toyota recalled my 2013 toyota camry for a torque converter that is causing a shudder in the car when driving between 5-50mph that they are claiming is expired. Big safety issue!!!
The contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. While parked, the vehicle accelerated without warning when the contact removed the key from the ignition. The contact was able to stop the vehicle by depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,000.
Clicking when in reverse and appling brakes shifting brake pads ? coming to stop car seems to shift to neutral ( better gas mileage) ? going up hill 70 t0 75 mph in cruise controlcar will down shift 1 or 2 gears this is the way the car programed . On all issues toyotaclaims their is nothing they can do as the car is operating according to specs . They tell me the car is safei have concerns as to how . Why is their a noise in the brakes ? why is the car down shifting they say their is a disclaimer not to use cruise in mountains . They seem to have a problems they can`t fix
When accelerating at a stop light or when slowing down to make a turn, it hesitates when stepping on it to go. It will go about 5 - 10 feet and hesitate, just enough to make everyone behind you think you are going and they close behind you enough to almost hit you because they don't realize the care hesitates. It has happened more than 4 times. It is an accident waiting to happen.
The contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. The contact stated that the driver exited the vehicle with the key less entry fob and did not shift the vehicle into park. The failure mileage was 700.

2013 toyota camry.consumer writes in regards to the keyless start design flaw.the consumer stated when he returned to his vehicle, he discovered his vehicle was not where he left it. The vehicle had rolled back out of the spot and down the road a distance.he realized he turned the vehicle off, but left it in drive, and he was shocked to find out, the vehicle could be turned off, in any gear.
I still owe toyota 15k for this car and they could not offer an explanation on why a transmission went out after 3 years
My car shudders from 20-45 miles an hour have taken in to a car shop and they say it is the torque converter, or transmission in this car.my car is only 5 years old and should not be having these problems. After it gets up to 50 it starts to run smoothly.the vehicle is in motion.i see from complaints that a lot of people have had their torque converters replaced by the dealership.
Hesitation and shuttering at low acceleration speeds. Hesitates at 20 miles an hour. Shuttering at 40-45 miles an hour. Been happening for years. Getting worse
Cvt transmission startshuddering then and b/4 at 40 to 50 miles per hourtoyota mfg refuses to repair.car only has 58k miles!almost lost control driving.telling me i have to buy at dealer for $7.300 happens at all times wherever !please help ussince we are bothretried seniors.alfred
The dates above are approximate as my car is back at the dealership. The car would vibrate at 20, 40 and 60 mph it would also lose power when taking off from a stop. I got the run around i bought new tires had an aligned changed the fuel being used. Finally they said it was my tranmission. They replaced the tranmission and did a software update. I am now at 100,000 and having the exact same problem. I am convinced this is a known issue from what i see online i have no idea why toyota hasn't officially ordered a recall! i believe i have a lemon and they should replace my car! my 16 year old daughter was driving she took off from a stop sign and was almost hit from the side the car was vibrating and wouldn't accelerate. This is a very dangerous issue. My car is currently back at pat lobb toyota waiting on their diagnosis once again!
Hesitation or shudder at 25-40mph (transmission)
Driving on a smooth road when car reaches between 35 and 40 miles per hour the transmissionstarts to shuddlemaking it seems like you are driving on a bumpy road for a couple of seconds which is scary when u feel the vibration.
Purchased car in april with 14,000 miles.vehicle hesitates at random times - this is especially dangerous when making a left turn at a busy intersection.one time i was the 3rd car back at busy intersection with no left turn arrow.when it was my turn to go the car would barely move.i was fortunate that all the cars in the other direction waited until i cleared the intersection before going.when the traffic light changes from green to red, you are in danger of being hit by another car because you're still in the middle of the intersection.i called the dealer service depart and was told because the problem is random all they could do was have a tech go on a ride along and see if it happened. I test drove the car 3 times before buying it. I was not aware of this problem or i would not have bought this car.my previous car was a 2003 camry and i never had one minute of trouble with it.this is a very dangerous situation - someone could be killed or very badly injured - and needs to be investigated asap.
Car hesitate bout 1 second and releaseat about 20 mph before the passing gear shifts in, never use to do that ,started doing this around 5/1/2017 , car hasbout 80,000 miles current.
The contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. The contact stated that while driving to make a left turn at 5 mph, the vehicle accelerated independently and crashed into a wall. The contact sustained a concussion and bruises on her chest that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure.
While driving 25 mph, the vehicle jerked. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the modem needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
After making a turn onto a road, before entering a parking lot, my brake lights went on.it's a new car with only 3500 miles on it - the brakes should be fine.i turn into the parking lot, park the car, put it in park, and turn off the engine.i check the emergency brake, it was not engaged.i turn the car on and the brake light goes away.however, now i cannot take my car out of park.it is stuck in park.i step on the brake, i turn the wheel and the wheel turns fine.the gear is still stuck in park.i call the dealership, they send out a tow truck.i try my car one more time and it is still stuck in park.the driver of the tow truck tries, he puts his hand on the handle and behold, it shifts out of park and can go into r, n and d.can you believe it??i will continue to monitor this 'odd' occurrence.hopefully, this will not happen again.
My 2013 toyota camry will not accelerate when i first try to drive the car in the morning or in the evening when i get off work. It has also stopped accelerating as i was trying to make a left turn onto a busy street. Thankfully, the car behind me did not run into me. It seems as though the car has to 'warm up' before it will drive normally. I have had this car for 5 years and it only started doing this in september 2018. I've taken it to the dealer, the first time the abs, check engine and traction control warning lights were on, but they said they could not replicate the issue. Each time i have taken it back, i've been told they could not find a problem. I would like to find out what is going on with this car before anything bad happens.
Transmission delays during acceleration. Multiple time i have been in danger due to delayed acceleration when pulling out or coming to stop then accelerating. My local dealership said it was a common problem. This is very dangerous and i think should investigated further. Thank you.
While on incline transmission in drive engine running let foot off brakecar rolls backwards until brake is applied.
When i speed up 10 to 20 miles there is a slight kick and the car feels shaky. The mileage is only 66 k + miles. In the city or highway when speeding up this happens.
When in am completely stopped and i begin to accelerate the torque arm begins shuttering. It takes up to a minute to get the car to get moving. If in am stopped at a street light i am worried i'm going to get rear ended.
The contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. While driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle shuttered without warning. The vehicle was taken to waldorf toyota (301-843-3700, located at 2600 crain hwy, waldorf, md 20601) to be repaired per an unknown recall regarding the torque converter; however, the technician stated that the recall repair had already been performed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 138,000.
Started with the passenger front seatbelt. Seatbelt wouldn't lock in to the female part have to keep trying it until it works. Driver seatbelt had the same problem until one day a spring was sticking out of the female part. Seatbelt never would latch again. Passenger seatbelt will latch to this day, however it will break soon and is untrustworthydriver seatbelt will not work at all.

Headrest on 2013 camry hurts the back of my head when i drive the car.if it hurts in normal driving i can't imagine what the head injury is going to be like if i get hit while driving this car.the head rests should be adjustable so that they can be fitted to shorter people.no amount of up down adjusting on the head rest height works to relieve the issue.
News release that toyota dealers stop sealing 2013 and 14 toyota camrys as well as 5 othervehicle styles due to the flame retardant materials in the heated seats are not approved by thefda. My concern is does this flame retardant material give off a vapor or fume when the seatheater is operated. I am diagnosed as multiple chemical sensitive and my eyes burn or areirritated, as well as i experience breathing irritation when the seats are operational. I havestopped using the seats since the news release (last 2 days) but still notice milder irritation. Ihave noticed this since around october 2013, which would be the start of cooler weather incolorado. Is a chemical vapor produced, does it infiltrate the car interior?

Ever since i've had my car if it's raining or snowing or even if i'm trying to brake going over a painted line or railroad track my traction light will come on & the car will slide. I've always had good tires on the car so that's not the issue. I was told if the traction light comes on the car is doing it's job. I'm no dummy. I've been driving over 20 yrs of my life & never had a car do that before even with bad tires.
As i was turning onto another street all my dashboard lights lite up and i tried to brake and car would not stop. I put the car in park position and car started slowing down and then jolted and came to a stop.

As i turned into a parking spot in my 2013 toyota camry (7 months old) and put on the brakes, the window wipers started going like mad and the car accelerated at an alarming rate. At the time i had both hands on the wheel and i never touched the accelerator. It was the scariest experience of my life. I had no control of the vehicle because it took on a life of its own. It surged over the one foot curb (there is a huge drop on the other side of the curb) and smashed into a lightpole. The car is totaled.

I was driving around the chicagoland suburb of wheaton with my mother one saturday morning a few weeks ago. I began applying the brakes as you normally would as we approached a red light. As we drew closer to the stopped car in front of us, i applied the brakes more to come to a complete stop. The car was rolling at about 15 mph, but it was not slowing as i approached the stopped car ahead. I put my foot all the way to the ground attempting to apply the brakes entirely to come to a complete stop. The car would not stop! my mom began yelling for me to stop, and i screamed back that i was trying! i had my foot all the way down, and i was frantically pumping the brake, but it kept rolling, completely unresponsive to the brake pedal. The pedal felt "mushy" and was going all the way to the ground all too easily. I bumped the car in front of me, which is what finally brought me to a stop. The bump was light enough that the driver didn't notice, and there was not any damage. He let it go, and a report was not filed. I slammed the car into park at the light and got out so i could look around the pedals to see if something was jammed in there that would have caused this. There was not anything around the brake pedal that should have stopped it from working. It was not a floor mat problem. I put the car back in drive, and it continued on normally, brakes now working fine. I took it straight to toyota and explained the incident (my mom served as a witness), and they ran diagnostics on my car. They seemed disturbingly unfazed by the story as if they get this kind of complaint a lot. Of course, they found nothing wrong. They said the 2013 camry se was fine, and they didn't know what to tell me. Although the car has been fine since, i am terrified at what might happen when i am moving at higher speeds on the highway!! i loved that car, but now i am somewhat afraid of it!
During a panic stop on dry pavement, after the abs brakes pulsed three times, at least the two front brakes locked up causing the car to skid. I could not tell if the rear brakes locked up.wrote toyota customer service about the issue. The case number is 1409112221.my brakes were inspected by my local toyota dealer who reported to me that during a health check of the braking system they found nothing wrong.the mechanic and service manager stated to me that during hard stops the abs brakes may lock up.i thought abs stood for anti lock braking system.
The contact owned a 2013 toyota camry. While driving at a low speed, the vehicle independently accelerated. While driving i suddenly started to hear grinding on the front on braking. Immediately i assumed issues with break pads but previous to this there was no warning of any kind form the car sensors or from a previous service. Fortunately i was close to home and a repair shop. Assuming worn break pads, i had all pads replaced on inspecting the pads it was clear that there was some quality issue to one set of front pads as all other pads were of safe. It seems that the pad under question broke apart while the vehicle was in motion. I believe this is product quality issue. I have retain all the pads for inspection of required.
The contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. While driving approximately 60 mph, the brakes seized. The brake, abs, and maintenance warning indicators illuminated.
My car got 3 lights on ( emergency brake, traction control and abs light on) then after that the power for the steering wheel stop and becomes very heavy and not drivable.
I would like to state that my car requires constant steering.it will not continue in a straight line.it will always drift in the apposite direction of the last correction.to date i have 11,400 miles on the car.

I bought this new camry and drove it off the lot, it seems fine at lower speeds. When you get up to highway speeds or freeway speeds the car always seems to wonder from side to side. You constantly have to make corrections with the wheel. If you take your eyes off the road for a second you can very easily wind up in the oncoming lane of a two way highway. I thought it might be just me, so i had several other people drive it and they experienced the same thing. The steering is a real safety hazard. Besides this one problem, i realy like this car.
Car steering went out-started going to the left-i could not turn it back-car crossed the left lane-hit the ditch embankment-turned down the ditch-hit a culprit-car flew into the air-almost hit a tree trunk-flew through tree branches-came down and hit the next culprit,-this happened as i was driving down a county road about 2:00 in the afternoon.
Vehicle wanders requiring constant correction.dealer said could not feel any wandering tendencies.everyone who has driven vehicle confirms defect.
My airbag light came on. I contacted toyota regarding this issue and i was told they have already fixed the issue and it is out of warranty so it is my problem now.i don't see how they can skirt their responsibility.they were the last ones dealing with the airbags and maybe what they did was not a complete fix.everything on my steering wheel will not work; horn, cruise control, phone, radio volume.i do believe my horn is a safety issue.thank you for your help in these matters.
Ma 9/22
Vehicle wanders in lane from side to side.
While driving at highway speed, the car wanders left or right. Keeping the car straight takes significant effort without constantly make correction to the steering wheels.reported to dealer, but dealer said cant duplicate the problem. This is a real safety hazard.

Vehicle does not trac straight on it's own. I find myself constantly turning the steering wheel slightly left to right, right to left in order to go straight. If you turn the steering wheel slightly left or right it will continue to go in that direction. Finding the exact steering wheel position to go straight and keeping it straight is a chore and tiring.
Vehicle is ok at approximately <50mph but at highway speeds it requires 100% concentration to not veer out of the driving lane. It wanders all over the road on its own. It behaves like you are driving in a severe cross wind though there is no wind present. Many such complaints all over the internet. Completely unsafe and i have forbidden my family from driving it and am in the process of selling it.

Vehicle wanders side to side.almost undetectable. Occurs in every circumstance regardless of driving condition- speed, condition of highway, weather etc.not imminently dangerous, but could be as when passing trailer truck at speed on highway.returned to dealer and after test drive by technician claimed condition undetectable, or just a peculiarity of vehicle.technician inflated front tires to 37psi and stated that \this cured problem.it did not.
Airbag lights comes and go while driving at one point it stay on for a log period , is very difficult to move the steering wheel now while driving
While parked the power steering electronic control unit (ecu) failed, rendering the steering ineffective.at speed this failure could have lead to a serious accident.i am now very fearful of my wife driving this vehicle with a system as critical as the steering unit that fails prematurely when only 2yrs. Old.
The contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. The contact stated that the steering wheel became rough when driving or when attempting a turn in either direction. I purchased brand new car from darcars located at 12210 cherry hill rd, silver spring, md 20904 on may 27th, 2013. First incident took place approximately less than 4,780 mileages; i began having trouble with my steering.during this incident, i was driving on i95-n near exit 43 of maryland while the vehicle was in motion suddenly the steering was locked and the steering warning sign with the beep noise for a second came on.i panicked i couldn't not turn the steering at all.luckily, i tried very hard and was able to force the steering to turn a fraction of a degree angle where i was able to safely pull the car on the shoulder without hurting anyone.at that point i restarted the car and the steering was unlocked. I took my car back to the dealer for repairs on 07/15/2013 but, to date, the dealer has been unable to correct the problem. Attached are copies of the repair orders that document the dealership's attempts to repair my car. While i was driving this vehicle on guildford roasecond incident took place approximately 15000 miles, when my brother in law was driving this vehicle to georgia.at approximately 12 a.m at night after refueling the vehicle he was heading back on the i95-s. The same incident had occurred.at that point only thing i suggested him to restart the car and move on.after the second incident i did received a letter from toyota manufacture about the recall on hvac assembly causing a leak which can ruin the sensor causing steering issues, air bag issues and etc. The car was taken back to a dealer 'antwerpen' located at 12420 auto drive, clarksville, md 21029 where the recall fix was performed.however, the dealer has been unable to correct the problem again.third incident took place approximately at 31,500 miles on 06/14/2014 at 1:45 pm on the guilford road, jessup, md going toward the intersection of rt-1 (aka washington bl.
The contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle the check engine light illuminated.the contact inspected the vehicle and found that rodents had damaged the electrical wiring by attempting to build a nest inside the engine compartment. Mice crawling up your legs while going freeway speeds almost caused me to crash with my family trying to get away from them. Toyota needs to deal with the mouse problems in their camry's and figure out a way of keeping them out. I know lives will be lost because of this manufacturing problem that could be prevented. They are nesting and dying in the ventilation system and that is very unhealthy breathing mouse droppings and rotting mice.
Takata recall; my car was involved in a accident that required my car to be totaled. After reviewing the damage to the front end, we are concerned that the air bags did not come out in this accident.

Car was stopped behind a landscaper's trailer for a second and the engine accelerated so fast and so loudly and overrode the brake smashing into the back of the trailer.husband was unable to reach the keys to turn off the engine.wife was injured in chest area and taken to the hospital.this was a loaner from toyota until they investigated why our highlander was accelerating the day before. The consumer stated toyota insisted there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. Updated 05/01/13
I like toyotas and have two camrys. I previously had 3 toyotas. Usually they are very good, built well, upkeep good, last long and toyota stands behind them, usually. A little over a year of having the last toyota camry se, i noticed that the driver side of the bumper popped out. One good hit to the correct spot and it fell in place, for a while, then it would consistently pop out more frequently. I lived with it for a while, then one day i was at toyota for a recall of something else and i asked if i could buy a clip to correct the bumper from popping out. They said they don't have them and probably the whole bumper, which was good otherwise, would have to be replaced. They had me talk to their body shop salesman and he confirmed what they had said. I lived with it for a while more, until the same thing happened on the other side. Knowing what i had found out, there was no reason to go to the dealer again, so i wrote a letter to the corporate office. I explained the situation and my view that because it is such a low front end profile car, the way it was designed made it inevitable that this occurrence would happen and i asked what could they do for this obvious design flaw. They recommended that i go back to the dealer. I haven't done anything as of yet, but i see online that there are numerous complaints about this and to the nhtsa.they must find a way to fix this problem, because it can worsen as the bumper may come out more. Toyota and the dealer must take responsibility for the problem, not the consumer.
The contact owns a 2013 toyota camry. The contact stated that the front bumper was becoming loose. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. I heard this persistent moderately loud knocking noise, which sounded liked it was actually coming from the front left(?) wheel area. As soon as you start driving, the knocking sound occurs, stops, and stops again. It is most persistent while driving over uneven street pavement.
Weather stripping on all doors doesn't touch the glass, creates a hazard not being able to see out the side windows. Water is gettinginside of the door. Bought this used toyota camry se 2013 yesterday with only 30,000 miles on it.right away, i heard creaking noise coming from the center of the dashboard and by the front passenger side.it's not very loud but can be heard and very annoying.it's audible when car is in motion especially when stepping on the gas, brakes and when turning.not normal for a 3 year old to have this intermittent and annoying creaking sound.i immediately researched on it and to my shock, there's a lot of blogs and posted videos on this same exact issue of creaking sound by the dashboard and front passenger seat for most vehicles of toyota regardless of model and dominant on those manufactured since 2013.toyota should have a fix on this since this is a three year old issue.
I was parking on my church parking lot, pulling up to the building and barely moving.suddenly the car accelerated and slammed into the church building.i then put it in reverse to see the damage, and it shot backwards into a car and the church van.
I experienced an sudden unintended acceleration condition on my 2013 camry se on 08/20/2013. The car hit a big tree and was not repairable, total-ed. Thanks to the air-bags, i only had a couple of bruises here and there.
Roughly a few weeks after purchasing my 2013 camry se and about 500 miles, i noticed a popping/clunking sound coming from the roof over the driver side. It seems to happen <30 mph and on uneven/bumpy ground. To date it has been in the toyota maintenance shop for 35 days and counting without any improvements. No one at the dealership service department has an idea of what is causing the sound or how to fix it. I am concerned that there may be some undiagnosed structural issue. They have mentioned in the previous repair attempt that the roof may be too thin allowing the metal to flex too much.
The moon roof glass of toyota camry 2013 hybrid exploded (with a bomb like sound) and was shattered to pieces, when driving on a 4-lane highway at 60 mph, on a partly cloudy day at around 4:00 pm.normal traffic with like sized vehicles, no other vehicle in the adjacent lanes, no larger vehicles in the proximity.
On the way home from west virginia university sunday evening around 1:10 am driving near rt119 uniontown, pawe spun in rail while making a turn towards exit going 55 mph , we hit a guardrail spun and flipped over 4 times 75 feet over an embankment not one airbag deployed causing more injury to my daughter in the back seat , we all hit our heads and got contusions , concussions and abrasions while wearing our seat belts the back seat belt either burned or was cut i have 33 pics from insurance adjustor , with the extreme impact i cant believe no air bag opened , causing more injury to my daughter in the back seat. It was a miracle we survived .
Car has been in service for 4+ years since new, and registered about 90k miles. During the recent routine oil change, the gas charged hood lift support failed while the hood is up, and the hood came crashing down. When the hood was opened, it stayed up, no signs of problem. The failure happened well into oil change, when i was under the car, and there was nothing in the engine bay. So i was lucky, extremely. No bodily damage nor property damage. I then assessed the situation, due to the way the struts are placed, when the struts failed, the hood would have a free fall from greater than 45-deg angle, which would generate a significant amount of force given the weight of the hood. This can easily cause bodily and property damage if the person working the car is caught between the opened hood and the front frame of the car. A fail-safe measure should be added to the car to avoid injury.
Trunk lid wont hold up. It easily collapses if car is parked on the slightest of incline or is hit with a slight breeze. The trunk has collapses on my head several times while unloading groceries. My concern is the trunk lid closing on a toddler. My other two camrys, year 2001 and 2003, do not have that problem. Those older camrys seem to have stronger torsion bars and/or hinges and/or holding mechanisms. Toyota dealership tells me they found nothing wrong with the trunk lid and its mechanism.
While accelerating from a stop sign and making a left turn, the right front suspension collapsed.the lower ball joint failed causing the entire right front suspension to collapse and fold into the wheel well and under the car.this also caused damage to the right front fender (pushed outward away from the vehicle). The momentum of the vehicle caused the right rear tire/rimto "slap" the curb causing damage to the rim and tire.
Vehicle wanders in lane from side to side.

My car still is making a movement in the rear right suspension which is causing my a bad handle over correctin my steering wheel. I wish i can get help any one have an idea.

My 2013 toyota camry se, behaves this wayalmost every day. The accelerator hesitates/vibrates when i step on the gas, when the vehicle is picking up speedbetween 35 to 45 mph. It usually happens when am picking up from a complete stop, either at a stop sign or when the vehicle was parked for a while. I also notice it happens only when the speed is picking up from a complete stop. It may delay for 1-2 seconds intermittently but stops once it 50 mph or more.
On april 1, 2019 i was taking my granddaughter to school one morning. She got in on the passenger side and shut the door. The sound i heard when she shut the door i had never heard before. It sounded like she had maybe grazed an empty plastic water bottle as she shut the door. I didnt think much about it again until approximately 3 miles later when we stopped at a convenience store. I heard that same noise when she got out and she the door. I opened the door myself, listened carefully and realized i had a hole in the glass of my sunroof the size of a golf ball. Not only that but visibly i could see every inch of my sunroof was shattered. Very puzzled, i exhasted all the possibilities of how this could have happened and come up with nothing. I called my insurance company and couldn't give them an explanation on how this happened. After reading an article online, i realize that my sunroof had exploded while (thank god) my car was sitting in the driveway.
Vehicle hesitates when accelerating. Shortly after starting my car, my car will hesitate to accelerate at around 20 mph. It will not shift into gear and even if i push the gas pedal to the floor, it still will not go. I have to take my foot off the pedal and push it repeatedly to get it to go. Finally it will catch up and do so viciously. I have had this happen to me while pulling out onto the highway and almost got rear ended. I have a 14 month old daughter who rides in the backseat and i feel so unsafe. I have taken it to the dealership and to one other mechanic and they cannot duplicate the issue nor are any codes being thrown. Please recall this vehicle.also, this happens a lot when going at a steep incline.
2013 toyota camry se 2.5l roof overhead console melted in a non extreme temperature.unsatisfactory plastic used for lighting console. The case melted and exposed a circuit board. Could be a potential fire and road hazard.
On november 25, 2014 my mother was killed when her 2013 keyless ignition toyota camry rolled down her driveway and pinned her underneath. She had just driven into her garage and neglected to put the car in park. The garage had a very slight incline, but the driveway was much steeper. She had walked down the driveway to pick up a newspaper after putting the car in the garage. I just saw an article saying that a park it act had been introduced into congress. I would like to be sure that my mother is included in the statistics of people who have died because of rollaway car accidents. Please let me know if there is another method i should use to do this. Your agency was cited in the article i read. That's why i am contacting you. Thank you
The car stutters really bad at low speeds, i went to the dealership and they said i was outside of warranty by two weeks but it was the torque converter, i have been having this problem off and on for years but thought it was something small because it wouldn't last long, however for the past 3 months or so it has gotten progressively worse and does it every time, we thought we would have to pay for a diagnostics which is over $100 which is why we didn't take it sooner, however the day that we took it they said it was out of warranty by 2 weeks and when we called toyota they would not take responsibility for it even though this is a known issue with my year make and model toyota, just asking for help getting this hazardous and safety issue recalled.

I called my insurance company and couldn't give them an explanation on how this happened. After reading an article online, i realize that my sunroof had exploded while (thank god) my car was sitting in the driveway.
***sunroof*** constantly knocking. After taking it in the first time i was told the bolts were incorrectly bolted out of the plant. After picking up the vehicle i noticed the knocking was still there. Told that they needed someone from corporate office to assist. Installed chims and fixed. November 13th knocking noise back again. Again someone from corporate had to come in to assist, again chims installed and told it was fixed. I asked to speak with a manager to inquire if this was a safety issue and if i should be affraid that my sunroof would come lose and also to ask how many times must i return to have this issue looked at with the thought that is was actually fixed. Sales manager said they don't believe its a safety issue and that i should not worry about this repair being an issue in the future as they have a documented history of this problem and that i would not be responsible for paying for it in the future. It is now january of 2014 and the noise is back again. I have researched this problem on the internet and find that this is a common issue with toyota sunroofs and that they are aware of the problem since 2008 but have yet to determine what the issue is. The installation of chims is only a band aid .
This model car has door lock issue. Door lock failure. Remote lock/unlock fails. Powered door locks/unlock wont work. No recall for 2013-14 model.
Fuel tank has a crack in the seam on the top of the tank which is right underneath the back seat. Entire fuel has to be replaced at a cost of $1319. It must be replaced for safety reasons. The cause is faulty manufacturing as this car has never been in an accident. If we had been in an accident it could have resulted in an explosion endangering my children who sit in the back seat. The mechanic said that it has to be a faulty tank due to the crack being in the seam.
On april 1, 2019, when entering my vehicle in the driveway, along with my granddaughter who got in on the passenger side, she closed the door. I heard a sound i never heard before. It sounded like an empty plastic water bottle was grazed as she shut the door. I didn't think much about it until approximately 3 miles later when we stopped at a convenience store. I heard the same sound as she got out and shut the door. From the drivers' side i opened and shut the door again. Listening carefully, i heard the same sound and realized the sound from coming from above my head. I slid open the sunroof shade and couldn't believe what i saw. There was a hole in the glass of my sunroof the size of a golf ball. Not only that, but what was most astounding was every inch of the sunroof glass was shattered. Very puzzled, i exhausted all possibilities of how this could have happened, (which weren't many) and came up with nothing. Not knowing at the time there was an issue with exploding sunroofs, i called my insurance company and couldn't give them an explanation of how this happened. My deductible was $500, so the insurance company could not help because they assessed the damage as costing on around $282. A few weeks later,i was forced to try to get the sunroof repaired because the interior of my vehicle was being damaged because of the rain, i searched the internet for someone to do the repair.this is when i came across several articles on exploding sunroofs. That was the only explanation that made sense of why my sunroof was broken and why every inch of the sunroof was shattered. My car was last driven that sunday evening. No unknown sounds were heard as the doors were opened and shut. The sunroof had to have exploded while in the driveway, sometime after the car was last driven sunday evening and when i and my granddaughter got back in monday morning at approximately 6:30am.

My family and i heard something like a gunshot that sounded like it was very close to our house. We were too afraid to go outside or look out the windows. Because my car wasn't being driven much at the time, a day or 2 later i discovered my sunroof had exploded while the car was sitting in the driveway. That explained the sound we heard previously.

Cannot buy a future new car since they are keyless!both of usare profound hard of hearing and cannot hear engine running in garage !
While my car was sitting in my driveway, my sunroof exploded. If i had been driving, this would have been very dangerous. The evening before i heard a "pop". That night, i could not locate the source. The next morning, i realized my sunroof had shattered. I contacted toyota. They took a report, but i don't think they took me seriously.

This car has audio system problum.when you connect usb it keep loading on and on .the radio don't tune properly.touch screen is soo insensitive.i
This complaint is true for not only my camry, but also for many if not most models and makes today.there has been considerable justified emphasis on the dangers of using cell phones in vehicles and texting while driving because the driver is distracted from the road.however, at the same time, vehicle controls for features like radio and air conditioning (to name just two) have become more and more distracting and dangerous.years ago, you pushed a button for the radio channel.now you must look at an led display that's often extremely difficult to see (so you stare at it) in order to change radio channels.same with a/c controls; instead of a big knob where you change settings by touch and feel, you now have to stare at a tiny led screen to determine what a/c mode you are selecting.i can elect not to use my cell phone, but i will continue to struggle to see tiny led displays so i can change a/c modes or radio channels or selections.nhtsa should take the lead in reversing this dangerous trend.
They asked for a written consent to allow them to get the data recorder. After numerous calls to follow-up, on may 12 i received a response that when they drove the vehicle everything was fine.
Air conditioner develops mold in the evaporator coil causing the smell of mold to be circulated in the interior of the car. Myself and passengers cough when the smell is present.
Car has only 17000 miles. Terrible odor from the a/c and heating vents.dealer recommends a cleaner and filter change costing me 140.00 dollars. Why is this smell happening? is it mold? very unhealthy.
When accelerating from a stop the vehicle will sometimes move about 10 feet and then hesitate for about 1 to 2 seconds. It will then accelerate normally. This happens all thetime. The intermittent hesitation is very dangerous when trying to cross a busy intersection when the cross traffic is uncontrolled. This condition is dangerous and not normal. This is my family car and i use it transport my twin 9 year old daughter and scared this condition is going to cause an accident as it has already almost has as i was crossing an intersection it stalled and i was almost hit by oncoming cars. I love the car but i am scared for my family's life when using the car. It happens every time i drive the vehicle.
My 2013 camry is exhibitinga brief, intermittent transmission shudder while driving under light loads between 25 and 50 mph. This is due to a combination of an engine control module software glitch and a faulty torque converter. After the dealer from richmond hill toyotoin ontario canada replaced the part on oct 2016. The issue happened again after 2 couple of months.
Purchased new camry in june 2013 and when the ac is on there is a mold and mildew smell that comes from the unit. Sometimes it makes me cough and it irirates my eyes. The dealership said toyota knows about the problem but has not found a fix for it so they will simply deodorize the system ever now and then. Last deodorizing was augustaugust 2014 but today the dealership said they don't know what i'm talking about. The smell is horrible everytime the car is started and the ac is on then after a while the smells decreases. I read there is a class action lawsuit for this so toyota definitely knows about this embarrassing odor.
Acceleration hesitation at slow speeds, especially while turning.
From stop sign or red light when start moving forward the car hasitate for 1-2 seconds and then accelerate normal.thathappens every time.
I was parking on my church parking lot, pulling up to the building and barely moving.suddenly the car accelerated and slammed into the church building.i then put it in reverse to see the damage, and it shot backwards into a car and the church van.
On thursday october 10, around 02:05amin huntington avenue and parker hill avenue in boston massachusetts. I was at the traffic light on red, foot on brake andthe light turned greenand immediately i stepped on the accelerator my car sped off over 70mph which i know on the city road on a rainy day it is a 25mph zone.in an attempt to slow down with brakes my car started spinning , it circled in the same high speed about three times, stoppedand returned to normal. Fortunately for us it was an empty street during that early hours and thank god it did notcrash into any person or property. We continued to the final destination without any issues.

I was visiting someone at a hospital. I entered the parking garage and proceeded to the 2nd floor. I began to enter a parking space slowly with my foot on the brake pedal, when the car accelerated at a high rate of speed all by itself forward, slamming into the baring wall in front of me. After crashing into the wall, the engine is still going loudly, (revving) and the tires are spinning. I was pushing on the brake pedal so hard to try and get the car to stop, or shut down, that i broke 2 bones in my foot. The airbags went off, injuring my chest. I finally got the car to stop, by throwing it in park.
The issue did not happen on a consist basis until last month. Everytime i drive my car hesitates. It takes a minute or two for my car to accelerate. It doesn't matter if i'm on a local road, interstate or going up a hill. The outcome is the same.

The car engine and rpm go up when the car go down hill or you slow down in traffic at speed 45/35/25 mph.definitely it happen more often at speed of 25/35 mph with full tank or 3/4 of gas tank.
Occasionally, the car hesitates after accelerating from a complete stop. The car will move forward for a few feet, but the gas pedal will become unresponsive while still stepping on the gas pedal. It will gain some acceleration after releasing and stepping on it again. After this happens, i have to repeatedly release and step on the gas pedal because it idles frequently preventing me from "moving forward," until i reach the desire speed limit.the software was updated, but the problem still persist. I took it to the dealership to be disappointed once again.

I was driving down the highway when i heard this huge pop that sounded like a gunshot, honestly. I quickly glanced around but didn't notice anything. I get to my destination and walked around my car. No glass was cracked, all my lights were fine, and there were no dents or holes on my car. Thinking it may have just been debris that hit my car and made a weird noise i got in my car and started driving home. I get on the highway, start going about seventy mph, and out of nowhere i hear this crunch and scrape noise followed by a bunch of air coming from my ceiling.confused, i get off the highway and i pulled over into the parking lot of a walmart and that is when i saw my sunroof had exploded for no reason! i was not passing over a bridge when i heard the initial pop nor was there was not any construction going on near where i was when i heard the initial pop. Luckily, i had the sunroof closed so i was able to get as much glass out as i could. There was no rock or brick or any other debris inside the sunroof compartment. Also, i noticed that the glass is facing upwards and not downwards.
The windshield washer (won't spray)does not work. I thought i saw a previous recall for windshield wiper/washer on this vehicle??? it has never been repaired/replaced. Also, the high beams (exterior bright lights won't work) i only have low beams. Thanks for your help.
My wife drove my 2013 toyota camry se down to the twin cities for a bridal shower on saturday afternoon, april 28, 2018. She had just gotten on to i-494, driving at highway speed, when she heard what sounded like a gun shot. The visor was open, and the sun roof was closed, and shards of tempered glass rained in on her. She wasn't near an overpass, or near any trucks. Nor was she hit by any flying rock. She pulled in to a gas station, where a nice gentleman helped her, by scooping out broken glass, and putting a piece of cardboard into the opening. As soon as she texted me about it, i googled "exploding sun roof," and found that this is a problem that seems to occur with a lot more frequency, especially in the past five years. I'm just thankful that she wasn't injured in any way, and that she didn't lose control of the vehicle. She says it was a very scary experience. Since this happened on a saturday, i'm not sure if this is an insurance matter, or if the dealership will cover this under warranty.

At 60,325 miles (729 miles on the tires), driving back from the license plate office at approximately 45mph, i heard air exiting my left front tire and then the tire was immediately flat. I took the said tire to cdjr dealership for a tire replacement and the accused me of hitting a pothole, no pothole was hit and eventually the dealer replaced the tire with no further issues. Tis past friday night after coming home from work (05/31/2019) getting my personal equipment from my car and with 63,052 (3456 miles), i noticed a bulge on the right hand tire at night, no pothole has been hit. The bulge is similar to the tire that blew out, the bead is separating from the wheel. I have had 2 of 4 nexen 215/55r17 that have failed and these tires should not be allowed on our highway system, very dangerous, especially if driving on the interstate at 70 mph. Please see attached photos. I have an appointment tomorrow to install goodyear tires and be rid of the nexen brand, very bad tires, thank you.
