I was riding in a 2000 toyota camry when the vehicle was rear-ended by a 3/4 tone truck carrying a trailer with lawn maintenance equipment.i experienced back injuries as did the driver.the complaint though, is that the front passenger seat, where i was sitting with my seat belt in use, did not withstand the collision.the upright portion of the seat was laying on top of the back seat after the impact.this contributed to the back and shoulder injuries i received.the toyota was not hit from the side so the failure of the seat was not the result of a direct impact. The seat simply came loose and failed to maintain its position as i was thrown forward and then back.after the accident and during the repair process, the body shop checked the seat and stated the locking mechanism is working properly however, the seat has not been "right" since the accident.it is not properly positioned. The impact was fairly substantial (up to $5000 in damage - trunk was crumpled and other damage) and the airbags did not deploy.just after the moment of impact, i looked over at my mother who was driving and watched in horror as she snapped over the steering wheel. I don't know if airbag deployment requires a "head-on" before the bags will deploy but this situation could have been much worse (initially i was afraid my mother's neck had fractured) and had my mother gone any further forward, the failure of the airbags to deploy would have resulted in a serious if not fatal injury.

I was very suprised to see that when i did hit the car in front of me the air bags did not come out or deploy, our seatbelts did not lock.no one was hurt.god forbid this to happen again because i don't know if the air bags will come out the next time or that the seatbelt will lock up.i was going about 75 mph on interstate 45 between parker and crosstimbers, there was an accident that occured on the shoulder-i was in the left lane and all of a sudden everyone started braking.i felt i stopped in enough time.i slammed on the brakes and slid a great distance before hitting the minivan in front of me.a scratch on the black bumper is all that happened to the minivan.if i pressed on the brakes, why didn't the seat belts lock, why didn't the airbag come out? i don't know.

2000 toyota camry caught on fire august 7th, 2018. I was driving on a city streetand my radio kept going on and off while driving, i noticed the check engine light came on so i pulled into a parking lot and parked the car. I turned off the car and started to smell smoke. I opened the hood and the engine compartment was on fire on the right side near the battery. I was able to get a fire extinguisher and put the fire out but i have significant damage. I have not seen a recall on this issue but my car should not start on fire. I submitted a claim to toyota (claim# 180808-000043) asking if there is a technical bulletin. Toyota sent their inspector and he noted the starter failed to disengage from flywheel causing fire. The starter kept running burning it out and also burning the positive cable to the battery. Toyota did not share a copy of the report with me. The damage was severe enough to write off the car with only 95,000 miles on it. This needs to be investigated. Why would my car starter catch on fire like this?

My camry has an added spoiler, not sure weather it was factory or dealer installed. The brake light that is normally in the rear window was left hanging in the trunk as it was superseded by the one in the spoiler. The bulb was left installed as it caused a brake light fault on the dash when disconnected. Last week when i had a full trunk we started to smell smoke and could not figure where it was coming from. We found that a cardboard box in the trunk had come in contact with the unused bulb which had burned a hole through the box when braking ,but fortunately it did not ignite. I will contact the dealer tomorrow to see if they can relocate the bulb to a safe location.
My check engine light has been on and off for over 2 years. I have had both catalytic converters replaced, a new gas cap and every other issue the garages have told me are causing the problem. With each fix the light goes off for about a week and then comes back on. Toyota dealerships always tell me it is because i do not tighten my gas cap, but i tighten it until it clicks. I am not losing any mileage with the light on or having any other difficulties with car, but i can not pass the emission test with the light on. I feel that the light is on because of a glitch in the system or a defect, because i am not experiencing any of the normal problems that come with a check engine light on for long periods of time.
Upon having electrical maintenance done, vehicle endured an accident, and air bags did not deploy. Please provide any further information.

Vehicle had an icon light on the dashboard. The rear of the icon was lit, and no one could figure out what it meant.dealer could not find any defects.
When making a right turn and braking suddenly as in a busy parking lot, the engine will accelerate with a loud roar while my foot is solely on the brake and i franticly shift to neutral.sometimes on a curved road with a traffic light the engine will accelerate while my foot is on the brake trying to slow the car for a red light. This has happend numerous times.
The vehicle experienced catastrophic engine failure.a hole has appeared on the side of the engine.the oil level on the engine was and is full up.the coolant level was full up.no warning indicator lights were in evidence on the dashboard prior to and during the failure.all maintenance was current and most was performed by the toyota dealer.the mechanic that inspected the vehicle after it was towed to his facility indicated that it was the second year 2000 camry that he has seen with a catastrophic engine failure this year.weeks prior to the failure the check engine light and the air bag light illuminated for a short time.they reset themselves prior to the mechanic examining the vehicle and he could find nothing wrong.there was no trouble data recorded in the computer.
The check engine light stays on when diagnostic test shows nothing as a problem with motor. Car will drive with light on, but can not find reason.
The contact owns a 2000 toyota camry. While driving at any speed, the vehicle accelerated independently. In addition, while the vehicle was parked, the rpms increased to approximately 1,900-2,000, then decreased back to normal, and increased again. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 157,000.
I was driving home from work, this guy in a blue hyundai would stay in his lane, so i sped up to get around him, in turn he started racing me, so i went a bit faster to get around him, was about to round the corner so i went to slow down and my rear end fishtail, i hit the guardrail and spun out. Both my crumple zones on the back and front were affected but my airbags did not deploy! thankfullyi'm just really sore and not seriouslyinjured!
The contact owns a 2000 toyota camry. When the vehicle was started, it failed to drive. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact called pappas toyota at (636) 928-1212 (located at 10011 spencer rd, st petes, mo 63376) and was informed that the vin was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 171,000.
My husband was getting on the on ramp to the freeway when there was a loud noise, he thought he blew a tire.when he checked, the short block was cracked.the cylinder had gone through the block.there was absolutely no warning:no oil light, no overheating, no abnormal engine noise, oil was full when checked two weeks prior.toyota refused to pay total repair costs due to the fact we were only able to produce evidence of two oil changes in 15 months of ownership/24,000 miles.we bought the car at 21.5k miles, dealer changed oil at 31k miles in dec 02, one oil receipt i could find was dated june '03, car was due for another change.i took pictures of the engine today and received a requested oil sample.the pictures show sludge on the pistons, a cracked piston and a severely cracked short block.mechanic says one of the rods is bent, also.i could not see any deformity in the rods, but have a picture of all four rods.
While driving on the highway, no warning lights or temperature lights went off, but a rattling sound occurred, prior to a "pop", which was the engine "blowing" up.this later was diagnosed as the blow up of rod #4, which tore through the engine block, with current repair cost estimated at $6000.the vehicle has received regular maintenance including oil changes within manufacturer guidelines.since this year and model was part of the "oil sludge" mess, i inquired why i never received any notice from the manufacturer of this potential for the engine to seize suddenly with no warning.they indicated my vin supposedly is not part of this campaign and since the mileage is 96000 miles, i am not covered.toyota totes a "quality" product, yet this is the first car in my life that has not made it to 140,000 miles or more. Toyota to date has offered no assistance with no explanation of why the engine would suddenly die with so few miles.they indicate that this is not related to their oil sludge nightmare or engine design problems.
On sunday february 21, 2010 my daughter who was driving hertoyota camry 2000 model sees her battery indicator light go on without warning.then the car stopped completely and started to smoke out from the engine.withoutany further indicator lights displayingthe engine flamed out and shortly thereafter the entire frontof her car spontaneously exploded.the car had received its timely inspection and maintenance and there was no indication from the reports that showed that this vehicle needed any further mechanical workup .due to the common sense of our child she had stepped out of the car when it had started to smoke out and did not suffer any injuries.the necessary emergency crews had to shut down the surrounding residential roads and the 2 gasoline stations that this event had occurred outside of and we were all lucky that there were no casualties.
While on a road trip, oil light came, plenty of oil in it.we had to drive slowly for about 45 minutes to get out of the boonies, engine light them came on, shut down immediately.had to have car towed so not to hurt the engine.mechanic said the engine is shot!!! 2000 toyota camry xle - v6 doesn't even have 50,000 miles on it yet.i bought this car brand new and for big bucks!thoroughly disgusted. Never had a problem with this car until now?
While driving, the engine over heated.
While driving the vehicle and no warning the vehicle caught on fire. Dealer notified. Ts
The engine developed extremely excessive sludge so much so that the engine had to be replaced.
The vehicles evaporative canister, vsv valve and connector hose failed and caused the check engine light to illuminate.*nlm
On tuesday, 7/12/2011, i needed to have my 2000 toyota camry inspected to get the renewal sticker.i took the car to r&d automotive here in asheboro because a check engine light had come on.two of the codes would not clear.they had to replace the evaporative emission system canister at a cost of $300.00, not including labor, in order for the car to pass inspection.i have found online that toyota has had/is having a problem with these canisters.therefore, i request to be reimbursed $300 for this canister.
2000 toyota camry - 68,400 miles.sounded like engine had difficulty getting air.humming noise coming from firewall area of engine.gas mileage went from 450 miles per tank to 200 miles per tank.garage replaced air fuel sensor.problem resolved.
My toyota camry 2000 motor blew up while driving 55 mph in dec, 2009.oil light came on just moments before it started knocking.no check engine light came on. No warning.in aug 2009 my check oil light came on and i took it into toyota.they said it was just my gas cap.it came on again the next day, i took it back to toyota, i told them i smelled a burning smell.they said nothing was wrong with my car.i took it back a third time and told them something was wrong.they said i could maybe use a new oil cap and perhaps use a new belt but nothing was wrong with my car.my check engine light never came on again. (i believe they disconnected it.)when my engine blew in dec. 2009, i had it towed to toyota.they informed me my oil had gelled and it would be about $5,000 to fix it.i told them i got my oil changed every 3 to 4 thousand miles.i did not wait till the 5,000 mile mark like it said to in my toyota handbook.they said sometimes it just happens madam.toyota refused to pay to fix it.
2000 toyota camry driven at normal highway speed threw a rod through the engine block.this vehicle has always been properly maintained which i can prove with receipts from my certified mechanic. No one i spoke to at toyota would help me.this car was purchased as a certified used vehicle.the warranty has expired but this should not have happened at all esp. With only 80,000 miles.i had to replace the entire engine all at my cost.this same vehicle broke a timing chain a year and a half ago.fortunately, it was still under warranty then.i specifically purchased a toyota because of their supposed reliability and customer service.this will be my last toyota.
I have a 2000 toyota camry with 62,000 miles that has had the oil changed every 3000 miles or less, and has been properly maintained.i was travlling at around 65 mph on a busy highway during a holiday weekend when without any warning i heard a loud noise.fortunately i was able to get the vehicle off of the road and i discovered that there was oil everywhere.when a passerby stopped he showed me a hole in the engine block.when the car was towed to a toyota dealer and examined, they observed that the engine had thrown the #4 rod.since the car was 2,000 miles out of warranty, as a "good will" gesture toyota agreed to replace the engine, but i was stuck with labor estimated at around $1,500.i have written to toyota and asked them to pay for labor also, but they haven't made a final determination as of yet.the road i was travelling on less than 10 minbefore the incident occured (the pa turnpike) was hillly, curvey and crowded.if the engine had blown on that highway an accident would have ensued due to the large volume of traffic and absence of adequate shoulder space.i'm still waiting for shaffertoyota in cumberland, md to repair my car. As far as i know they have the defective engine.
Toyota engine sludge 2000 camryengine failure, no warning lights, nothing. Engine blew up.
While driving 65 mph check engine light appeared on the dashboard and remained on. Suddenly, the vehicle stalled.driver was not ableto restart vehicle, and had it towed to a dealer for inspection. Mechanic determined that the engine needed to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2000 toyota camry le.while driving 65 mph, the contact heard a loud noise underneath the hood of the vehicle.the contact drove onto the emergency lane and noticedoil leaking from the engine. Neither the dealer or manufacturer were contacted.the contact diagnosed that the strip head bolt needed to be replaced. The failure and current mileage was 45,000. The vin was unavailable.
2000 camry, v6, le - check engine light came on and would not go off.was told it was probably because of filling the gas too much.the light stayed on over two years and i had to have the "sensor" replaced.it was only about five months ago when i had this replaced - and again the check engine light has came on and will not shut off.my car has almost 150,000 miles but the check engine light started having problems back around 50,000.i also had problems with backend clunking noises, and my front wheels clicked, and now the brakes squeak like crazy (and have for over two years).every time i have the car looked at, and it has been by the dealers and authorized repair stations, they are unable to fix the problem.as for the check engine light - it cost me over $400 for repair - and now after only about 5 months, i guess i'll have to pay it again.
I have a 2000 toyota camry that has had four engine coil packs fail in a 2 year period.the last time two out of three coil packs failed simultaneously.luckily i was not on the highway the last time thishappened because i could not get the car to shift out of first gear and it would not go faster than 20 mph. The failure occured as i was trying to park my vehicle and the entire engine and car shook as soon as i put the car in reverse and continued to shake as i put it into drive.the first and second times i experienced the coil pack failures (both single failures) i was driving on the freeway and could not get the vehicle to accelerate beyond 35 mph.i had to put my emergency flashers on until i was able to get the vehicle off of the freeway and to a service station.
The oil light illuminated, the vehicle was towed to the dealer and it was determined that is was an oil gel problem.
The air filter was dirty at 10k miles.nlm
Toyota camry with 4 cylinder engine, 2000 should have been covered under sludge policy suddenly seized throwing a rod through the engine block at highway speed.toyata is refusing to fix due to unable to provide 5 documented oil changes due to husband doing most routine maintenance.refusing to provide documentation stating documentation requirements.
Team toyota was very unresponsive; alleged owner neglect.oil light came on and immediately slung a rod, no notice nothing.they told me is was sludge although it didn't take them long to make that determination.they couldn't have checked very far because the mechanic that replaced the motot (not a toyota mechanic) said there was little to no sludge there.i received a letter from toyota discussing oil gelling this month (july 2002).maybe they've been having too many owner neglect cases with blown motors!
When consumer went to start the vehicle, it caught on fire.
The vehicle caught on fire.
The camry [xxx] i bought the car in august 2000 engine prematurely wearing out, giving out loud rattling and knocking noises, even the car is only 5.5 years old with 95000 pampered highway miles on it.i was really surprised that the car with less than 6 years of drive, and being well maintained, the engine could be of such inferior quality. It is totally opposite of my expectation when i first made the decision to buy this car. I was banking on the high quality of the car, the durability. Even dealership and toyota experienced technician admit that the car had been taken good care of, they are all surprised that the camry less than 100,000 miles would have such problem. All that they are saying is that i did not have good luck, it may well be 1 bad apple out of 1000 good ones, but i got it. All i want to say bad apple is bad apple. It is not 1 out of 1000; it is 1 out of 1 for me. Toyota sales promoted the camry with false and misleading statement by saying camry in average can run flawlessly for 200000 miles, based on the trust and perception of high quality of the car, i bought it, i paid high interest of 8.9%, pampered my car, the engine is still prematurely wearing out. Toyota refuse to correct the obvious manufacturers defect, even though the engine had been diagnosed by toyota doctor in tualatin or, and beaverton toyota experienced technician, they both agreed the car had been taken good care of, and the problem is manufacture defect. Toyota customer service simply gave me a blunt answer "tough luck"they need to recall my car, repair it at toyota's expense, toyota should apologize for such inferior quality of the car, should apologize for its denial of corre for toyota ceo's comments on toyota's commitment to quality, please click the following video linkhttp://www.nytimes.com/packages/khtml/2006/01/09/automobiles/20060109_toyota_audioss.html. Engine caught on fire and car was declared totaled.i was driving in my neighborhood when i smelled horrible burning odor.i put window down to see if someone was burning brush outside.once window was down, smoke started to pour into driver's compartment, and then i saw the smoke from under the hood of the engine.i immediately pulled onto side street, shut off car, grabbed purse and keys, and ran.person in street told me car was on fire, which i hadn't been able to see, because the flames were pouring out from under the engine onto the street.i ran and called 911 from cell phone.two fire trucks came within 5 minutes, and it took them 20 minutes to put out the fire.the engine was totally melted down.i could have died as a result of fumes or being burned and was lucky i wasn't on a highway at high speeds.

I have followed all maintenance requirements on my 2000 toyota camry and recently the engine blew on a trip to the beach. I was passing a slow moving vehicle on the alligator river bridge about 28 miles from nags head, nc. At the time i did not observe any red lights on the dashboard indicating a problem. I heard a loud bang, then the oil light came on and the car was making a funny noise. I could not stop on the bridge so i immediately pulled over when i left the bridge. The first thing i checked was the engine oil. It was completely dry. I found a house nearby and they gave me two quarts of oil to put in the car. They told me a gas station was 15 miles away. The car ran fine below 35 mph and made a little noise. Above 35mph it made a loud noise and the oil light came on. I made it to nags head and the next day i took the car to a car repair center. They notified me afterwards that the engine was blown and the engine compartment was completely filled with a thick sludge. I have read the past information on these problems and believe it was due to an engine sludge build up. I was also amazed that i did not see any oil warning light prior to the problem. I would like the manufacturer to correct by replacing or rebuilding the engine.
Thecar has 77000 miles on it. Vehiclewas well maintained. Itook the car to dealerthe car for maintenance once in 4000 - 5000 miles. When i was driving at 55 on the freeway i heard a big sound and saw the smoke was coming out from the front panel. I pulled over the car and opened the front panel. I saw fire from two different places. I checked it with my mechanic , and he toldme that the connectivity rod #2 came out very next to the oil filter which caused the engineto blew up. I calledtoyota andfiled the complaint. But toyota representative told me that they won't replace the engine. The car was bought from the dealer shop, and the dealer was responsible for selling the defective car. I got a defective engine and forced replace it on my own.
The vehicle leaked oil and stalled.
The se v6 engine is exibiting a rough idle at start, and when stopped. I was advised to clean the throttle boody and injectiors. This did nothing but waste my money. I am begining to believe its sludge or a misaligned camshaft
At 32,000 miles, the warning light indicating low oil pressure came on.the owner took it immediately to the nearest toyota dealer for repair, as it was supposedly under warranty.the dealership and toyota motor corporation refuses to honor any warranty work because of 'engine sludge'.after only checking the oil level and pulling the valve covers off of the engine, they determined that it was 'owner neglect'. And will only look into possible causes at the owners's cost.after researching the internet the owner has found several cases of 'engine sludge' not only in the toyota camry's produced in 1999 through 2001 but in the toyota truck's sienna model, as well.
The engine blew up.i have regularly changed my own oil at 6,000 mile intervals for the past year.the oil pressure light came on and i added 2 quarts of oil.one day later the engine blew and the oil pressure light never came on.
While driving on highway at 65 mph consumer heard a loud bang and suddenly lost power steeriing and power brakes.dealer stated that engine needed to be replaced. . the dealer stated when they opened the hood, they found number 4 connecting rod sticking through the block, they also found a piece of the block sticking into the hood insulation and around the inside of the engine compartment, there was oil around the engine compartment from the hole in the block, the dealer believes the vehicle was downshifted improperly, causing engine to over rev and caused the connection rod to break and also to catch on fire, consumer stated there was no downshifting involved.

I purchased a 2000 toyota camry ce (vin # 4t1bg22koyu962183) with a 4 cylinder engine, 5 speed manual transmission in february of 2000.friday, july 3, 2004 around 6:15am i was driving this car to work on rte 495 south in hudson, mass.without warning, i heard a pop under the hood and suddenly there was a loud explosion.white smoke was pouring out the rearand dark smoke from under the hood.i was driving 65 mph down a steep grade, in heavy traffic.i quickly began pull into the brake down lane.i applied the brakes but the brake pedal went to the floor and the clutch pedal was also to the floor. I slowly applied the parking brake and managed to get the car stopped. I had flames coming from under the hood and smoke coming into the drivers compartment.the traffic that was being blinded by the smoke and the road had guardrails so i could not pull completely off the road.i was concerned about getting out of the car into traffic but i had to get out quickly.i got away from the vehicle and called the authorities.by the time the fire trucks arrived the front of the camry was fully engulfed in flames. The car was a total loss.what occurred that morning hit me later.i realized that i could have been seriously injured or killed.thankfully i did not panic and cause a bad situation to be worse.i thought what if someone else had been driving this car, my pregnant daughter or my wife. What if a family with a child in a car seat, a new younger driver or an elderly person was driving?i consider myself lucky to walk away uninjured.someone else might have been another story.i dont know what caused this to occur, i took good care of this vehicle.my insurance company, travelers casualty company of connecticut, is handling the settlement.i thought it was important to let you know of this failure.i had found that there was an investigation into camry fires a while ago.please contact me if you need more details.william hovey.
Engine light came on while driving. Vehicle was taken to dealer. Dealer stated engine light had come on either because the fuel tank cap had not been closed tight enough or vehicle was refueled with engine running. No action was taken by dealer. Consumer stated that the gas cap was on tight and the vehicle was never refuled with the engine running, consumer feels he should not have been charged from the dealer to stop the engine light from illuminating when the vehicle was still under warranty.

Odor of sulphuric acid enters passenger compartment when car stops. Reported to dealer, who first stated problem caused by undercoating burning off. On second complaint to dealer, advised smell is from "oxygenated gas". This response is unacceptable as exhaust should be expended away from passanger compartment.
2000 toyota camry with 33,000 miles. The check engine light came on.dealer said it was codes po440po441 and po446.they said i need a new "canister and control valve" and it will cost $600.as i understand it, this is some kind of charcoal filed canister that deals with emissions.it would seem that thisis a non essential part.it would also seem that this would have few, if any, movable parts and should last the life of the car.this had to be a manufacturing defect and could not be related to use of the car or the driver.the manufacturer should stand behind this part and replace it on a car with so few miles. *la
Dt*:the contact stated while driving 55 mph, the check engine light illuminated without warning.the vehicle was inspected by a dealer who determined the charcoal canister of the emission control needed to be replaced.after the replacement, the check engine light discontinued illuminating.the manufacturer was alerted. Updated 9/20/2006 -
Check engine light came on in my wife's 2000 toyota camry le, 4 cylinder. Dealer charged $72 for diagnosis and recommended replacement of charcoal canister due to emissions vent control system malfunction, code po 440. I didnt get it done. Did some research on the internet and see dozens of similar complaints from toyota users. Cant toyota correct this problem, as its obviously a design or manufacturing flaw?
My check engine light has been on for more than a year. It would not turn off. Because of the smog check issue, i had to take my vehicle to the toyota dealer for them to diagnose the problem. They charged my $80 just for the diagnosis. I felt it was a rip-off. They told me that my egr valve and vacuum switching valve have to be replaced. The cost would be $650. Since this has to do with emission issue, toyota should be the one covering the charges. Apparently, this problem is prevalent among recent toyota models.
The check engine light came on and the engine stalled.the consumer experienced a shut down, and it became difficult to restart the vehicle.the mechanic discovered the egr valve was defective. The vehicle continued to stall out.
My check engine light came on my 2000 toyota camera with 52000 miles. Went to montrose toyota to have checked out. Code po441 indicated vapor pressure sensor for evaporative emissions inoperative. Canister failing. Cost of repair around $500. The only cause the dealer knows offor this failure is over filling the gas tank after it shuts off. I do not over fill my tank. This is a charcoal canister that takes in gasoline vapors. Over filling the tank will cause the charcoal in the canister to start breaking up. I was told this is an emissions problem and these defects should be covered by the manufacturer for up to 100000 miles.
The vehicle has white smoke when starting car.car is parked inside garage when not in use.hite smoke coming form muffler/tail pipe.toyota tech. Suggested that customer replace stem seals at customers expense.
When vehicle is parked for a long period oftime excessive amount of exhaust fumes come out of tailpipe and surrounds vehicle, causing health risk.
A/c overflow tube is so close to the ground that the tube fills up with debris from the road, and the water in the drain of the ac overflow tube backs up into the interior of my car and floods the car and the rugs get soak. This has happened to me several times over the years if i forget to send it into the shop and pay out of my pocket to have the drain tube blown out at least twice a year.
I have called and left messages on the dealers managers phone with no return call, have went to dealership and he is not available. When driving through heavy rain with water standing on road, a/c fails.dealer indicated that such failure was normal when water gets on belt and belt slips.no repair made.apparently they have seen this failure many times before.failure results in rapid and unexpected condensation on windshield and other windows with loss of visibility during bad (heavy rain) driving conditions.dealer states that there are no service bulletins concerning this poroblem.dealer did not advise customer as to how to reset/restart a/c system after such a failure.problem reported to toyota national offices on 10/25/01 with toyota file #2001 1024 0861.no response from toyota as of 11/5/01.customer analysis indicates that dealer did not properly diagnose problem.wet belt was not slipping.a/c compresser clutch was slipping at friction surface when wet and this caused system shut down.customer diagnosed problem as an insufficient magnetic force engaging clutch (design problem) and/or contamination on clutch friction surface causing slipage when wet.
The a/c has stopped working on this vehichle 4 times.the 10amp blower motor fuse always shorted out and stopped the system from working.if you attempt to replace the fuse while the system is still hot it will blow the fuse.this has been looked at and always nothing is found.they did replace the blower motor thinking this could be the problem.the problem persists and i believe this to be a serious one .this is used not only for comfort but to de-fog the windows to increase visibility on the roadways.toyota please do what you have to do to fix this.
When the inside of the car gets hot (sun shines during the day) the a/c on light will flash and the a/c does not work.the a/c blows hot air.the a/c will begin working again if the car is outside of the sun in a garage or if it's cloudy.

2000 toyota camry air conditioner drain has repeatedly clogged causing the interior carpeting to get soaked. *dtthe consumer also stated the air conditioner stopped cooling near the start of a recent summer vacation, but when he took the vehicle to the dealer, they could find nothing wrong.
Whilevehicle was in motion electrical system began to go down ie; lights and air conditioner failed. Engine check lightcame on, and vehicle shutdown in a rolling stop.consumer noticed smoke from engine, and was at mechanical auto shop.mechanic opened hood, and realizedengine was on fire.positive side of battery was completly melted.hold down clamp on battery may have broken, causing battery to slide and overheat.
While trying to jack my camry to change a tire on dry, level concrete, the toyota provided jack slipped out from under my car twice.i was using the jack in the toyota mandated position, and was not on any type of loose or unstable soil.the toyota jack has a very small base that is easily rocked side to side with no stability.the jack is exceedingly dangerous and very much a potential hazard to anyone using it because of its practically convex-shaped base.
While replacing a flat tire on a flat surface usinga jack, and at the time of looking forother tire, jack bent toside and vehicle fell toground, damaging vehicle fenders.the consumer believes the jack that came with the vehicle was not strong enough to lift and hold the vehicle.
Consumer appliedjack that was furnished by toyota.he jackedvehicle up, pull tire off, andcar fell down to the pavement.made a whole in the pavement.

Bought my used 2000 camry in aug, 2008. A few months later, gas pedal startedsticking when i apply pressure to accelerate after making a stop. Sometimes it happens every time i make a stop in a given day. Other times, when i'm out and about, it does not stick when i accelerate. I have to give it a little push to accelerate from the stopped position. Happens about 70% of the time. Makes no difference if it's winter or summer.
My 2000 toyota camry has a sticking accelerator pedal that stick when pressed, requiring excess pressure. This causes the car to lurch forward. This happens daily inconsistently. I will be reporting this to my local toyota dealer.
1. Sudden acceleration on 2000 toyota camry in nov. 2009. When it was in de-acceleration after taking an exit in ewing nj, it suddenly accelerated like a wild horse, i totally lost control and the car crossed a red light, fortunately, there was no collision occured and the car was under control finally.2. Acceleration pedal sticking: sometime when the gas pedal is pressed, it does not move, a big force needs to be applied to the gas pedal in order to move the pedal and start acceleration. It usually cause over shooting.

The day after purchasing the car we noticed a thumping coming from the rear of the vehicle. We returned the car to the dealer to check it out. Upon examination, they said we needed new rear struts. They only replaced the strut caps. Shortly after, we filled the gas tank, as it was when we received the car, and realized the thumping sound was still present. We returned to the dealer again. This time they said we needed a new fuel tank, a technician they called in california told them this. After changing the fuel tank, the thumping sound is still present. Next they brought in a special technician, who examined our car and said it was completely normal. Now we began the process of the massachusetts lemon law. Toyota now wanted to examine the car one final time with a regional rep and another technician. They both heard the thumping and decided the rear sway bar needed adjustment, and this would solve our problem. No such luck, the thumping noise is still occuring. We also have found the trunk is not flush with the rear fenders. The technicians say it was just installed wrong and can be corrected. It seems all our problems are in the rear end of the vehicle, and still after almost 3 months nothing is resolved.
When the fuel tank is 3/4of a tank full or fuller a thumping noise occurs in the fuel tank, cause unknown, fuel tank has been replaced twice which has not corrected the problem.please give any further details.

This is in regards to a previous odi complaint that i filed on 3/5/2010. The odi number is: 10316956. I just wanted to add that this 2000 toyota camry has a standard (manual) shift transmision so when the acceleration happened we just pushed in the clutch and coasted to a stop. Turned ignition key off, pumped the gas pedal a few times, and started the car. It was fine then. This has happened to myself maybe 8 times.
My 2000 camry is also in need of a replacement charcoal canister for the emissions system. My check engine light has been on for about 6 years because of it. I do not wish to pay the $400 to have it replaced when the car is running just fine. This has been an issue with a large number of early 2000's camrys.
I purchased a used 2000 toyota camry from a friend 2 yrs. Ago. My friend, original owner, had problems with the car accelerating on its own & even went as far as to buy a new accelerator cable assy.on the recommendation of the toyota dealer 3/17/06. They said that would fix the problem.i have also had the same problem since i have owned the car. Since the publicity about this problem neither my friend nor i have put the cable assy. On for fear of more problems. Toyota doesn't seem to know how to fix the problem. I still have the accelerator cable assy. In the original sealed bag & i still have the problem.
I own a 2000 toyota camry xle, which has 51.565 miles.on july 31, 2004 the check engine light came on.i called the dealer and brought the car in to be checked on august 04, 2004.the service department told me it was the fuel evaporator valve that needs to be replaced and would cost approximately $220, but they need to order the part, so we set another appointment to have the part replaced on august 10, 2004.i picked the car up today (july 31, 2004) and paid $114.50 for the diagnostics (i am hoping my next bill will be around $110 so i do not go to far over the estimated price, but looking at the bill they are estimating $99.07 to install and 48.85 for the part so i am guessing i will be well over the $220 price quoted).my invoice says that the check engine light code is "p0446 was present for evap system trace to vent control malfunction special order vsv control approx 99.07 to install".i then went out to the web to determine exactly what this part is and i discovered many complaints of this nature on the web.most of them were told they needed to replace the valve and canister for a price around $550.by looking at the number of complaints on the web relating to this issue (most of them when the car reaches approximately 55,000 miles) i decided to file this in the hopes that this part will eventually become a recall, since there seems to be so many issues.
Car speeds up and surges and i smell fuel when idling. On 2 occasions i had trouble stopping the vehicle. Once ran stop sign before i could get it stopped. Happened again may 22, 2015!
I also have experienced the plastic outer portion of the door handle on my 2000 toyota camry breaking off - in my case, on both driver and passenger front side, as well as the inside plastic portion of the back passenger side.
The contact owns a 2000 toyota camry. The contact got into the vehicle with the doors locked and the alarm began to sound. When the contact attempted to exit the vehicle he was unable to unlock the door and get out of the vehicle from the inside. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The current and failure mileages were approximately 52,000.
Left work, stopped at a gas station, went in to pay for gas, and when i came out the driver door would not open. There was no warning this was going to happen. I was really panicked initially because i was afraid the other doors wouldn't work; it was late at night in a bad area of town. I tried the remote, then the key, and the driver's side door would not open at all. I finally went to the passenger door and was able to unlock that door, crawl over the passenger side front seat and squeeze myself in to the driver's seat. I went to the toyota dealer to have this fixed. I have never before had a door on the driver's side just stop working, not ever. While the car was in the garage, the first brand new part that came in was defective, i had to wait for the dealer to get in a second one that was functional. I find that odd too. Almost $410.18 later the door was operational, at my expense. My concerns with this is the fact that if this is a common occurrence this could pose a severe safety hazard to someone who is in an accident and may not be able to exit their car. Or if someone is in a bad place, like i was, and can't get back in to their car because the door is not functional. I find it odd the automatic latch broke without warning or nothing to indicate prior to the happening that it could, and secondly, the first part the dealer got in was defective. Makes me wonder if the part has a history of being defective to begin with. I've never been advised of any recall on my car; so do not know if there are recalls for this model or not. We did contact toyota headquarters about this issue, and were told this was not compensatory. To hang on to the bills i paid and if in the future this appears to be a problem i can deal with it then.
The contact owns a 2000 toyota camry. The front passenger side door handle latch would not manually unlock or open from the outside or inside. The automatic door lock was the only way to unlock the door. The mechanic repaired the door handle; however, the failure continued to occur. The dealer stated that the problem may have been due to the lock actuator which is a mechanical device on the inside of the door. The warranty expired and the manufacturer will not be responsible for the repairs. The contact stated that this was a common occurrence. The vin was not available. The current and failure mileage were 155,000. Updated 11/12/09 updated 11/16/09
On 21 june 2000 my wife and i opened the truck of the car in order to off load a bucket of supplies.she was leaning into the truck when the truck came crashing down on her head.blood began pour down her face and she almost passed out from the froce of the blow.i took her to the hospital and they closed the cut using 4 staples.i informed the dealership and they didn't seem to care."saying it is not our problem".my wife suffers from headaches due to that incedent.she will undergo further tests.
I was about to pull out onto route 23 s. In wayne nj. I was app 35 feet in front of a store. I placed the camry in park for a second.i then went to place the car in drive. All of a sudden the car started going in reverse straight toward the store. I could not stop it. You never know how you are going to react in a situation that comes on you suddenly. Anyway, i opened the car door to get my bearings and was more than half-way out the car. My left leg was also out of the car. I had one hand on the steering wheel. At the last second, i turned the wheel and missed both the store and parked cars. My car crashed into a fence. I was not hurt but was shaken up.toyota said there was nothing wrong with the car. They would not let either myself or my mechanic in while it was inspected. Since i was more than halfway out the car, it would have been almost impossible for me to have my foot on the accelerator because of the angle i was in. I also have a witness to the above.
When applying the brakes to my well-maintained 2000 camry v6 with 88,000 miles on it, the car often shudders and vibrates just before it comes to a stop.i usually have to put the car in neutral to eliminate the vibration, but that is a very unsafe tactic.the dealer replaced a wheel bearing but that had no effect.now the dealer thinks that the shudder/vibration problem is caused by the transmission and it has to be replaced at a cost of $5000-$6000, which is about twice what the car is worth.it is hard to believe that the transmission would fail so early unless it was defective.since the problem occurs during braking, it clearly is a dangerous problem.
When shiftingto drive and depressing gas pedal vehicle will not move consumer has to shift to park, then drive a few times, and vehicle would start traveling.
Drone and vibration at 60-70 mph.dealer attempted 4 times to find the problem, finally replaced the transmission which they say corrected the problem.we want them to buy the car back.
Failure to operate occurs on highway, "check engine" light on, no power in gas or brake pedal.problem was determined as internal crunched screw in remanufacturedtransmission provided by american honda. *cj

On june 12, 2010, my toyota camry (yr 2000, 4 cyl, ce) made a strange sound from the engine at 60-70 mph on an interstate highway. After another 30 min of strange sound coming out from the engine, the engine below started to make loud cranking sound. I pulled in to the service road of the highway and after a few more cranking sound, the car was completely disabled. I called the police to get it towed to a nearby town. On june 14, i arranged to have the car towed back to my hometown 120 miles away. The toyota dealer inspected the car and said that the differential part of the transmission was totally damaged. The service person said that it is out of ordinary for a car of this type and mileage to have transmission breakdown. I have kept the car under regular maintenance ever since i bought the car in 1999. This transmission breakdown occurred at 72,000 miles and the transmission was serviced for a leak at 66,000 mile at the same toyota dealer. I suspect my toyota camry had pre-existing manufacturing defects in the transmission that caused this catastrophic transmission breakdown problem. It happened when i was driving on a highway. Called the toyota company and filed a complaint.toyota said that my car is out of warranty.

As i pulled into the parking lot where i work, i stopped and put the car in park to let another car pass me and then into reverse to back up and straighten out in the parking spot. When i did i could feel that the shifter was no longer connected to the transmission, the car would not move. I was lucky that i had put the car in park first so it wouldn't roll.i had a friend who is a licensed mechanic look at the car and he showed me the broken end of the shifter cable. "this never happens", he said. The cable is made to last for the life of the vehicle. It is very strong. It just doesn't break. When i ordered the part from the dealer, i was told the same thing again. He also said the he has never even heard of one breaking! i can only assume that there must be a defect. I don't drive alot of miles, and i do not drive my car hard. I live just outside of boston, ma.

Gear easily moves from drive to neutral without depressing the button on gear shift; car rolls backwards on hills; possibly into other vehicle behind.

I was driving my very faithful toyota camry on a busy 2 lane road when a honda pilot stopped suddenly in front of me. I immediately reacted and slammed on the brakes. Unfortunately ididn't have allow adequate stopping distance, so i crashed into the honda pilot.

I own a 2000 toyota camry with 65,000 miles. I acknowledge that the vehicle is out of warranty regarding the following safety device failure. The passenger side rear seat belt has failed and needs to be replaced. The best toyota will do is charge me 50.00 to fix it. This is in the face of a major recall for the toyota sienna van with a recent seat belt failure.i believe that the seat belt in question is the same model in both vehicles. Toyota has agreed to replace all seat belts in the van at no charge to the van's owners. The seat belt has been certified as dead by handy toyota, however toyota refuses to extend the same offer to me.
May 28 2008, driver and 1 passenger killed in 2000 camry caused byseat belts and air bags and detached seats in a runaway toyota that lurched and became uncontrollable and hit a tree (going under 35 mph). I had a 2000 toyota camry. My wife was driving it and she is the only one in the car.1) she stopped at highway, since all cars in front of her stopped.2) a 98 nissan hit her car from behind around 50-60 miles/h. My wife's car hit the car in front of her, and the car in front of her car hit another car. 3)even the front section of my wife's was serious damaged, non of the four airbag deployed. This one is not my complaint here, just provided as a reference information.4)the driver's seat became flat (been damaged by my wife's body, and she is only around 130 lbs) right after the impact, and no more support for the body, (at this situation, seat belt does not help at all), and she slipped out of the seat, and her head hit somewhere inside the car. She got serious concusion.5) i only saw toyota tested front impact, side impact, did not see any rear impact. The driver's seat is supposed to support the body at the time, and it failed to stay, and let the body slip out of it, with seat belt only hook the legs.6) the strength of the driver seat (power seat) needs to be evaluated, and i want an answer from toyota.4)

My car was hit from behind by a gmc truck, my camry trunk collapsed, i was pulled strongly backward , my driver seat was broken fall down to a position about 15 degree from the horizontal, my left hand while still hold strongly by reflex on the wheel was injured while keeping me vertical. I think the driver seat isn't strong enough to protect the driver. I am 205 lbs and i don't think that is too heavy to create enough force to break the driver seat. I already report that problem to toyota custumer service but they will only call me during three business day it means befor tuesdayjuly 31. My aaa insurance offer me total lost anh i already accepted it , while do so the car will be no more my property anyway i can't keep the car in the body shop ( body craft 1128 sibley st folsom ,ca 95630 , 916 985 6002 ) under my charge. I have to remark that the representative of toyotasay me that they have the right to inspect the car during 30 days after the day they are informed about the defect, i told them that if they have interest to inspect the car to find down if the defect is real they have to act as quick as possible, while the car is still in this body shop they can come to take a look or ask aaa to know where the car is , i wont where is the car beacause it will no longer belong to me.
The contact owns a 2000 toyota camry. The contact stated that she secured the vehicle in park and was able to remove the key from the ignition with the engine continuing to operate. The dealer was contacted and advised that either the ignition switch or the key was defective. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also stated that she opened the window while the dealer was on the phone with her, and it exhibited an abnormal squealing noise. The contact was then advised by the dealer to bring the vehicle in for inspection. Additionally, the contact stated that when sitting in the driver's seat, it would feel as though the springs were protruding into her back and causing pain. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where she was advised that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the air bag warning light sporadically illuminated over a two year span. The contact was concenred that in teh case of air bag deployment, the chemicals in the air bag would affect her asthma. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Upon impact (car was rear ended) the passenger seat popped, broke in a reclining position.that shouldn't have happen.i think it should have stayed in an up right position.
Brakes make a loud gridding sound when applied. Have had serviced and there is a large amount of brake (dust) residue located in brake drum.removed and cleaned but condition reoccurs.
Model: toyota camryyear: 2000problem: brake shivers or shudders when applied. It happens all the time. The car does not come to a stop as soon as the brake is applied. In fact, the car moves some distance and comes to a stop. Resolution: change parts of the brake (ever since i bought the vehicle). This has been at least 10 times. The dealer says that it is because of how the brake isapplied. I disagree. I have a honda-crv 2000 model and this does not have any problem with the brakes.
On sept. 14, 2009 i was backing up in a parking lot, to let another vehicle pass.my car suddenly began moving backward very rapidly and smashing into others vehicles and a child.i was taken to the hospital in an ambulance because my neck was hurting.i did not receive a ticket from the attending police officer, as she did not feel i did anything negligent.the car was totaled by my insurance company.

My toyota 2000 camry had an accident which resulted in property damage, similar to the recall, yet it wasn't recalled and toyota executive complaints and the dealer where i bought the car refuse to assist me. My insurance is with geico, 800- 424-3426, claim number 0115001950101329. There was property damage in amount of 447.00 and there was an injury. I was agas pump, backing up, to leave the hess/wilco station in kempsville, virginia, when my car accelerated for no apparent reason, out of control. Hit a poll, and lunged forward and did the same thing.
2000 toyota camry consumer wants any recall information on brakes. *cc
I was driving with a passenger in my 2000 camry. I slowed down anticipating to come to a stop at a t in the road, that had a stop sign. After pushing on my brakes, if felt like the motor was fighting against the brakes and pushing me forward. I put all the pressure i could on the brakes and it kept insisting to go forward. I was lucky that i had appropriately, slowed down ahead of time for the stop sign, but still ...the car did not stop until it went through well past the stop sign, across the two lane road and finally stopped just before a cliff. Luckily the car that was coming on the road that i crossed, saw that something was wrong and stopped while my camry crossed right in front of his car. Very scary.
Had a front collision. Due to a faulty abs system, applied the brake and took longer to stop.
At least once a year, including every fall, the brakes on my 2000 toyota camry suddenly start to fail.there is a whooshing sound (air escaping some enclosure) when i step on the brakes, which have much more travel than usual without any stopping power.when i finally get some stopping power, the brakes grab.it is not the normal smooth braking i usually experience with this car.there is also sometimes a squeeking - a very high pitched whistle.again, this sounds like an air movement event; it's definitely not a metal-on-metal squeek or a rubber-on-metal squeek.the sounds are inside the car, not from any of the wheels.these problems are noted at all speeds, even when the car is parked.although the brake fluid level is always well above minimum, occasionally topping off the brake fluid to the max "full" level helps, but not this time.three times i've taken the car to the dealer (beaman toyota in nashville, tn) from whom i bought the car when this problem crops up (9/01, 10/02, 9/03), but to no avail.i am not happy about being told, "nothing's wrong," when very clearly something is wrong.
When the brakes were applied, the vehicle experienced extended stopping distance.
The contact owns a 2000 toyota camry. While driving 60 miles per hour on the highway approaching an intersection, she was unable to stopthe vehicle; however, the vehicle suddenly stopped. I drive a 2000 toyota camry, and have had a few incidents previously, during the winter months of 2008-09. This concern never happens during warmer months.it happened 3 times in the same day on february 3, 2010: when approaching a t-intersection of smaller highways, when i came to a stop light controlled 4-way intersection in the town of newton, ia, and as i was slowing down to turn off the main street into a parking lot. When i pushed down on the brake pedal, it was almost like there were no brakes. I had to push it clear to the floor and then very slowly and gradually, my car eventually stopped, but out in the intersection or beyond my turnoff.i have not rear-ended anyone or hit any pedestrians, but that is a definite possibility.i started researching online to see if others have had this problem and discovered that some toyota models in the years 2007-2010 have been recalled due to a very similar problem, with the same symptoms.when i called toyota of des moines, i was told that it could not be the same problem, since the brake system used in 2000 is different from that in the recall years. I have an appointmentin 2 weeks in d.m. And have to be very cautious between now and then, especially if driving when snow is falling and/or the temperature is quite cold.it makes no difference if the pavement is wet or dry, when this happens, and it's like a layer of ice is within my brakes, keeping them from taking hold when i apply them.*tw
While consumer's sonwas driving at 35 mphat 11pm and raining night applied brakes and lostcontrol, vehicle hit a telephone pole and neither air bags deployed.
2000 camry brakes failed causing the vehicle to strike 2 vehicles.while braking the for a toll both the vehicle would not stopand struck two vehicles..the vehicle then crashed through the toll gate on the berm.the vehicle came to rest on the berm outside the toll gate.the vehicle sustained damage to the front right and left quarter panel, front right and left turn signal assembly, hood, windshield and right exterior mirror.this accident also damaged the other two vehicles and turnpike toll gate.
When driving at a low rate of speed andpulling into a parking space with foot depressed on the brake pedal vehicle continued to move, causing unwanted accelerationand extended stopping distance. Consumer has contacted the dealer.dealer said that a brake light was on and that the computer codes said brake depressed and front wheels spinning, but wouldn't write it on the repair ticket for legal reasons. *ml

As the time approached for our second routine oil change (roughly 6000 miles), our brake warning light started to come on and off.my husband took it to the dealer (keith murray) and reported it.they said that it needed brake fluid, and replace the brake fluid as they did the oil change.this happened near the 9000 mile mark as well, and they again only replaced the brake fluid.,this time,we insisted that they check the brakes because we knew that a new vehicle should not require brake fluid replacement so often.the mileage on our camry is now 13, 836.the dealer reported that our car was indeed leaking brake fluid, and that the brake caliper need replacing.according to the work order dated 10/9/01, the following work was done:"replaced front driver's side brake caliper." it is my concern that there may be other vehicles of the same make/model with defective brakes.if we had not persisted, our brakes may have failed.again, the only warning we had was the brake warning light coming on and off while driving, always occuring near time for the next oil change (every 3000 miles).

While trying to apply brakes and with no warningbrake pedal will go to the floor, resulting inextended stopping distance. Dealer notified.
The brake light stayed on repeatedly before i had driven 10,000 miles.the first time, toyota replaced the pads and turned the rotors at no charge.7,000 miles later, the brake light came on again, and toyota told me that it was due to "regular wear and tear."i had to replace the pads and rotors to the tune of $278.00.in visiting your site, i see that other drivers of the 2000 camry's are having the same problem with their brakes.i have owned approximately seven toyotas in my lifetime and never once had a problem with the brakes that seemed unusual.i have been driving for 30 years, and to be told that this is "regular wear and tear"strikes me as odd.due to this one problem, i have decided to never own another toyota.if toyota doesn't stand behind their products, why should i?

When attempting to accelerate (pressing gas pedal), vehicle will not speed up for several seconds, and then it abruptly lunges forward at an increased speed, posing a safety hazard. This has happened repeatedly starting within a couple of days of buying the car.this is particularly concerning when driving on an expressway ramp. Thus i have been avoiding driving on the expressway. Also, the brakes work abnormally. There was excessive vibration, jerkiness, and brake sensitivity. I took the car to the dealer within 5 days of purchase and subsequently returned it 4 more times. They only acknowledged that the rotors were warped and resurfaced them. Otherwise, they deny there is any other problem. They blamed the acceleration problem on the a/c being turned on. However, the problem persists regardless to whether the accessories are turned on or off or how high they are turned on. *nlm

I also have experienced the plastic outer portion of the door handle on my 2000 toyota camry breaking off - in my case, on both driver and passenger front side, as well as the inside plastic portion of the back passenger side.

The drivers' exterior door handle broke off while my husband was opening the door. I noticed the same thing happened in nhtsa id number: 10720976. Up to now i wasn't sure what to think about it, but after seeing that my car isn't the only one it has happened to i believe it has something to do with the car's components. As far as any injury, his hand was cut when the handle broke off and i can't help but hurt my own hand every time i try to open the drivers' door. It has forced us to enter thru the front passenger door and slide over (which is not pleasant nor comfortable).
I have owned this car for about 5 years; my grandfather gave it to me, so it's only had two owners. Low miles (80,000). I am replacing the driver's exterior door handle for the third time and passenger's exterior for the second time. The exterior handles merely snap off. I wish toyota would offer replacement handles made of metal rather than plastic. This may eliminate the problem. The state i live in requires a yearly vehicle inspection and due to the broken handles, my car failed yesterday.
The hood has been "popping" up when driving... This has happened on numerous occasions. Usually i open the hood and slam it down and its ok for a while lately it happened more times. I took it to the service garage and they said it looked fine.. ( but it could be a cable??) although there is a safety latch when it "pops" its still very scary when you are driving because you don't know when it will happen. Not sure what maybe the cause of this?
I was driving home from work, this guy in a blue hyundai would stay in his lane, so i sped up to get around him, in turn he started racing me, so i went a bit faster to get around him, was about to round the corner so i went to slow down and my rear end fishtail, i hit the guardrail and spun out. Both my crumple zones on the back and front were affected but my airbags did not deploy! thankfullyi'm just really sore and not seriouslyinjured!

Original ignition key will not start car. Has been difficult for about a month. Luckily it totally failed in my own driveway. We just returned from a long trip. Same thing happened to trunk lock 2 years ago. I had to pay about $250.00 to have it fixed at my dealer.expect larger bill for ignition. The 2000 camry le with 15" bridgestone potenza tires i purchased new in aug. Of 2000 vibrates at speeds of 65mph and above. The dealer serviced the car (only 900 miles on it), and said the vibration must be a tire problem and sent me to a tire dealer. The tire dealer said the tires were good but one wheel was out of balance. The road test indicated a small improvement and the toyota service dept. Said it's not our problem, it's a tire problem; but balanced the wheels on a jaguar service department's wheel balancing machine. The vibration seems to have improved slightly, and toyota service has scheduled a toyota representative to test drive the car in october 2000. It will be helpful if you can inform me of all similar complaints (i found 3 at your website) on this vehicle.
The car is a 2000 camry and it was purchased new.i purchased a one year service policy.after a few years i got a factory recall to replace something in the front end - the struts i believe.it has been satisfactory since then and i have about 71,000 miles on the car.about three months ago when i brake there is a funny noise from the front left wheel.it is not every time i brake however.it does not sound like the brake padwear out noise but more of a rattling scraping kind of noise.the car brakes ok however.i have had this car serviced without fail on schedule with lubs, tires, balancing, and inspections by the local dealer and nothing was ever found in the left front end.i checked the web and it seems thousands of us camry drivers have this problem.i recommend toyota call back these vehicles to correct this problem at no cost to the owners.

Rattling or popping noise emanating from the rear of vehicle as vehicle slows down to a stop on an incline or hill, with vehicle's orientation faced downward wrt the decline. Had local toyota dealership, antwerpen conduct a 15k check up and determine if there are any tsbs or recalls; service advisor said that no record exist. Loud popping noise could originate from rear strut system. Saw recall of rear axle falling off; antwerpen toyota service advisor said no such recall of tsb for this vin.

Ongoing problem with a clunking sound coming from rear of vehicle. Noticedclunking sound would appear intermittently below a half of tank of fuel, and always between half and almost full tank of fuel. Dealer notified, and believed the problem was in the suspension.

My front tires wore out completely, down to the bare metal, at 11,000 miles. This was determined by the dealer during an oil change. The tires were replaced at my expense and i asked that the manufacturer be contacted so that i could get an explanation. Subsequent communication with a dealer representative indicated that the manufacturer was contacted but did not respond. The service manager indicated that they have had similar issues with other customers and he believes that the tires wear out quickly because they are made to "provide a smooth ride". As a consumer i am appalled that tires costing over $100 each wore out so quickly and i believe that there may be an issue related to this particular batch. I am also concerned about the fact that i have not yet received a response from the manufacturer (toyota).ts

Unexpected accelerations with my 2000 toyota camry le.on december 11, 2014, my granddaughter (who was driving my vehicle), was sitting at a red light with her foot on the brake pedal.while sitting at the light, the car started rolling forward.she pressed down further on the brake, and noticed it slowed but did not come to a complete stop.she applied additional pressure on the brake and the car came to a stop.all of a sudden, and without warning, the car jerked forward as if someone had hit the car from the back causing my vehicle to strike the car in front of her.she looked into her rear-view mirror and realized there was no one behind her.after getting over the initial shock of the event, my granddaughter was able to exit the car to see what had happened.she explained to the other driver the unexpected acceleration while her foot was on the brake pedal, to which the other driver expressed having experienced the same problem (accelerated without notice) with the same make, model and year toyota camry.i have been the single owner of this 2000 toyota camry le since 2000 and my camry has been to the toyota service department for service on three different occasions because of an issue with the throttle.

When stopping at a stop sign or red light my accelerator seems to be stuck when i try to accelerate again. I have to press hard to get the car to go. This does not occur every time i stop, but enough to make me worry.
The contact owns a 2000 toyota camry. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate, the accelerator pedal became stuck. The contact stated that the failure occurred several times and that she had to continuously tap the accelerator pedal in order to disengage it. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 01v012000 (vehicle speed control). I own a 2000 toyota camry ce 4 c - and had noticed that prior to the recalls my gas pedal would stick - sometimes not allow me to press it down.to this day, occasionally (maybe once every 5th time i an accelerating) i have to virtually kick the pedal to make the car go.the car is in great shape, light use for the past 10 years, but i want to report that there is an issue with this 2000 camry.
The contact owns a 2000 toyota camry. Whenever the contact would drive the vehicle at any speed she noticed that the accelerator pedal was sticking to the floor. The contact has to pump the accelerator pedal several times in order for the pedal to stop sticking and at the same time the vehicle suddenly surged forward. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer and there were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 180000.
Had to pay o fix the throttle body and the news paper said this is a common problem on toyota camry's. Why does toyota not pay for the repair and re-imburse those who have already paid for this repair since the vehicle would not run properly or at all without the repair. This is a know problem and i feel the comsumer is picking up the bill for the manufacturers mistake.
Toyotacamry 2000 vin#4t1bg22k6yuxxxxxxtoday (11.04.06), while driving this car, engine accelerated without further pushing gas peddle. I stopped the car and shifted the gear to parked mode, still engine was running at more than 3000 rpm. I stopped the engine and started again. Still engine was running at high speed. While car was stopped, i pushed the gas peddle several times and started the engine.then engine was running at normal speed.after 1 hr , i observed the same problem. Please advise me in this regard.thank you.regards,venkata.
2000 toyota canry xle, purchased from new rochelle toyota, new rochelle , ny as certified pre-owned with 40k mileson 4 separate occasions over the course of 5 years beginning in 2005 -- i have experienced accellerator revving or sticking, and sometimes both together. Sometimes just kicking it stopped it, another time i had to throw the car into neutral and pull up the pedal with my foot under it, another time i threw it into neutral and it eased up. Each time i pulled over, shut off the car and restrated and it didnlt happen again for quite some time. Mentioned it to toyota and they more or less blamed me. Told my independent mechanic who at least checked the brakes and snesors, but he didn't know what to tell me because there was no service warning. No repair was ever done.
The contact owns a 2000 toyota camry. The contact stated that on three different occasions and while driving at various speeds, the vehicle accelerated independently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis but the dealer could not determine the cause for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. *nlm
I have a 2000 toyota camry. It is not in the recall but it should be. The gas pedal sticks and has for years. This car has been back to the dealer for repairs but they were not successful. Toyota may need to expand their recall. I have been told by the local toyota dealer that the vin number on my car is not one of the current recalls so they will not pay to fix it.
The contact owns a 2000 toyota camry. While attempting to pull out of a parking spot at approximately 2 mph, the vehicle accelerated on its own while the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle crashed into a snow bank. The contact turned off the vehicle, waited two minutes, and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle spontaneously accelerated again, but in reverse and struck a parked vehicle. There were no injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to rockingham toyota (412 s broadway, salem, nh 03079) and was awaiting diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was contacted by the dealer and they were sending a mechanic from headquarters to evaluate the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 117,000.
Depressing the gas pedal is sometimes difficult.there appears to be a hangup or impairment in depressing it from a stop or brake operation.it happens about twice a week.
The gas pedal has a spot that sticks when you depress it. If you push quickly or sort of "smack" the pedal with your foot, you can get past the sticking spot. This has been happening for about the past year or maybe even longer. It is very difficult to depress. This happens every time we drive the car, it has never been repaired.

About two years ago (2008), when starting off from say a stop light, i would press the gas pedal & nothing would happen for a second or two, then the car would jerk ahead. This did not happen all the time. This problem occurred overa six month period or so.a mechanic(not toyota) told me the housing for the accelerator cable wascorrodedand needed to be replaced. This he did and i have had no problem since.cost was about $200.
2004 occasional sticking on the gas pedal, increased by 2005 had several mishaps. My mechanics in charlotte n.c. Tried to do whatever they could to make it not stick. It would not really work, however one of the mechanic put something on it and every few months i would go back to him. Once i was on a busy street in charlotte downtown trade street, i put my foot to accelerate and i thought i was going to die that moment. The gas pedal stuck, god was with me.

I own a 2000 toyota camry. I've had a problem with sticking accelerator for about 5yrs now. We've tried wd40, oils, and other lubricants but haven't been able to fix. Accelerator sticks at a stand still position, or it sticks when driving at the same constant speed for longer amounts of time. To help the problem fix, i tap firmly on the accelerator a few times to unstick it. I have checked on the toyota website recall list several times but my 2000 toyota is still not on the list. I still have the problem and am worried. What is my next step of action? i thought that since my car was one year old when i bought it that it wouldn't be covered, but i know my car was in a previous accident before i purchased it because there was damage to the driver's side door & the rear window. Could it have been because of the sticking accelerator. I'd have to check carfax and maybe some research from there on. But i did buy the car before it was one year old. Please help me out here, i drive my grandchild in my toyota camry & am worried.
I went to my mechanic two years ago to report that my toyota camry 2000 had an accelerator sticking problem.they could not find the problem, assumed it was the mat, or my imagination.it wasn't.the problem still occurs but toyota is only covering the last 7 years, is this because of warranty?what can i do? car is otherwise fine.
The contact owns a 2000 toyota camry. Toyota camry 2000: intermittent and unexpected acceleration of vehicle (lurching forward) either just before, during, or just after applying subtle pressure to brake pedal. Issue typically occurs in stop and go traffic when: - attempting to slow vehicle's forward motion in respect of posted speed limits- approaching stop signs or red traffic signals, or - switching between braking and acceleration is required (road curves, speed bumps, parking lots, etc.). No accidents or specific incidents have occurred as a result of this problem that i am aware of.i first discovered the issue driving my mother's camry while visiting her in florida. Because the nhtsa requires incident-specific information to complete this form, i selected a date in early june 2009 when i first became aware of the problem. The mileage reported is approximate.note: although i do not typically drive this particular car, i have owned two toyotas and currently drive a 2006 prius. I believe that this anomaly is worth reporting, given that toyota's current recall of its vehicles for very similar issues has not yet addressed these issues for older models.

I was on the highway within city limits driving at about 45 mph. I realized the vehicle i was approaching had slowed down or had stopped due to merging traffic. I had more than the necessary amount of clearance ahead. I applied brakes. However, brakes did not slow down the vehicle by any significant amount -- it appeared as if the engine was continuing to accelerate or maintain its speed. I crashed into the vehicle from behind. The vehicle i crashed into veered to the right. My vehicle continued forward and then crashed into another vehicle stopped in front. As a result of the crash, the gear selector moved into n, which is the reason i think the vehicle finally stopped.i have the crash report documenting this. It was the first time such an incident had happened after i had purchased the car used from an individual. The car was deemed a total loss by my insurance carrier.

My 2000 toyota camry has a sticking accelerator pedal that stick when pressed, requiring excess pressure. This causes the car to lurch forward. This happens daily inconsistently. I will be reporting this to my local toyota dealer.
I have similar problem with my 2000 camry.for at least 3 years now--when after a stop, when i step on the accelerator, nothing happens until i tap it down a couple of times--then it accelerates.almost like you have to punch the gas pedal a couple of times to get it to "take."dangerous when you expect to accelerate and do not.my son and i have both experienced this problem with the car, and upon doing research many other people experience it also.

During a very heavy rain, i was driving the vehicle up a moderately steep hill at 40mph. With a constant pressure to the accelerator, the vehicle suddenly began losing power and slightly decelerated. I increased the foot pressure on the accelerator. The engine then 'wound up' and a high pitched, constantwhine came from it. At the crest of the hill, the rpms dropped, the whine ceased, and the vehicle resumed its normal acceleration. Immediately after that, i heard a rattling noise from the undercarriage around the front driver seat area. It sounded like metal banging on metal. It stopped after a few seconds. Earlier in the evening, my wife had driven the vehicle in the same heavy rain and noted the same problems while driving on the interstate at approximately 50 mph on a level roadway. The vehicle was checked by the dealer on 2/14, but they were unable to duplicate the engine problem, nor saw any loose components on the undercarriage.
Engine light illuminated. Took vehicle to dealer, put vehicle on machine, and saw no problem.while backing out vehicle suddenly took off.please provide any further information.

2000 camry le,4 cy accelerates going down hills.it seems to this driver that accelerator going down hills for this model is too rapid.for example, while driving on narrow mountainous curve in 2009, i had problems holding the car steering wheel steady and was forcedto suddenly brake hard so that the car did not go over the steep mountain ridge thatmost probably would have caused my death, as well as the passengers who were in the car. The last accelerator problem occurred in 2009; however, ever since i purchased the 2000 toyota, i have had problems whenever i went up and down hills.the 4 cylinder accelerator did not support going up hills, but speed going down hills was such that i had to brake hard many times and was forced to holding steering wheel steady so that accidents did not occur.in viewing your website and problems occurring with the 2000 toyota camry le, i found 438 complaints had been filed.
Car speeds up and surges and i smell fuel when idling. On 2 occasions i had trouble stopping the vehicle. Once ran stop sign before i could get it stopped. Happened again may 22, 2015!
Gas pedal sticks when starting out from a stopped position.this happens sporadically but more often happens after coming to a quick stop at a red light.the gas pedal sticks for about a second or two and after applying more pressure it finally engages and starts to accelerate.note that i have not had the issue where the gas pedal sticks in the depressed position.
When pulling into a parking place in a strip-mall, my car suddenly accelerated, jumped the curb, crossed a 2-lane road, jumped another curb, crossed a 6 foot sidewalk and ran into the front of a store, completely destroying the wall, window, and front door of the store, approx. 12 feet wide.
Vehicle has a high idle until it warms up. In the morning it could go to 1 1/2 to 2 rpm's. I can pull out of my parking spot without ever touching the gas pedal. Once at a set of lights it still is revving. It does not go down to 0 rpm's even at the lights, when i'm at a complete stop. Had it checked several times at toyota on morrissey blvd, they performed a diagnostic and found the idleair control valve malfunctioning. They replaced idle air control valve and tested system within normal limits. That was on 8-28-07. The first time was on5-07-07 tech found front exhaust pipe had an internal failure causing vehicle to run abnormally and lack power..cause internal failure open circuit..replaced front pipe sub assembly..afterthis i left it over night because it still was revving they told me it was a stuck valve and they fixed it but could happen from time to time..still happens. I had contacted susan wornick and she told me to contact you. Thank you sandra carreira p.s. I have all my receipts.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 157,000.
Consumers wife was driving and pulled into a parking lot, and vehicle accelerated into a cement barrier surrounding a light post.she was traveling at approximately 20 to 25 mph, and both frontal air bags failed to deploy.no determination has been made as to why the air bags failed to function.driver experienced whiplash, andwas seeking futher medical help for neck pain. *yd
While driving between 60 and 70 mph the consumer depressedthe accelerator pedal and the vehicle vibrated. Themanufacturer sent a representative to assess the problem and determined it was normal.
The contact owns a 2000 toyota camry. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate without warning. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the accelerator cable needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2000 toyota camry. The contact was driving approximately 35 mph when the vehicle abnormally accelerated. The brakes were applied but the vehicle continued to accelerate rapidly. The contact crashed into another vehicle. There was no personal injury and a police report was filed of the incident. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

I have a 2000 toyota camry. I have taken this car in for required servicing and reported to the service technician that the gas pedal was sticking. This is noticed after i have stop and then step on the gas pedal to go. The gas pedal sticks on the top so there is a jerking action when i start off. I have paid close attention to how close i stop behind other autos so that i do not hit them in the rear if it jerks when i take off.this does not happen after every stop. The service technician suggested i go to a retail store to purchase silicone grease to put on the accelerator. I have done nothing but remove the floor mat to make sure that it was not a problem. I do not have the vin with me at this time but i can supply it if needed.
When you are at a full stop or at a red light, or stop and go traffic. When you start to mash the gas pedal down the car does not move.everyone is moving beside you and behind you and you are lucky if you don't get rear ended. So far we have been lucky.when you keep trying it will finally go. It will jerk you head back sometimes. So i thought it might be the cable on the speed control going bad. Sticking or whatever. I am not a specilist on saying what it my be.but it does need to be repaired.
Consumer's vehicleexperienced the very same problem asmentioned in recall 01v012000 concerning speed control cable/accelerator sticking.
2000 toyota camry. Consumer writes in regards to acceleration recalls *tgwthe consumer stated within one month of driving her brand new vehicle, she noticed acceleration issues. The dealer advised her to learn how to drive the vehicle. The consumer stated when she drove at 45 mph and moved her foot from the accelerator as if she were about to slow down, but then applied the accelerator again, the computer that would ran the drive by wire would get confused and the vehicle would begin to shift down. The vehicle would then go into neutral for a few seconds, long enough to apply the pedal. Finally, the vehicle would get the message and quickly catch up to the level of compression of the accelerator pedal. The consumer believed the problem was with the electronics. The consumer has since traded the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2000 toyota camry. The accelerator pedal becomes stuck while in first and second gear.to release the accelerator pedal he has to stomp on the pedal.also he experiences difficult steering while driving. The manufacturer was notified but no assistance was provided. The current mileage was 65,000. The failure mileage was 35,000.
While applying the brakes vehicle surged forward.problems with sudden acceleration. *mr
We bought our camry 2000 10 yrs ago when it was brand new. After 2-3 years, we started to experience the gas pedal sticking once every few months, something like suddenly lost the power when driving on the high way. Since last year, the gas pedal started to get much worse and sticks almost every time we stop/restart the car before traffic light and during heavy traffic. Now my wife and i are very afraid to drive this car and believe it will cause huge problem sooner or later. I just read the news about toyota's recall for the same issue, and now i believe it is due to the vehicle design which has caused this safety issue. I just called the local dealer and they told me only camry 2007 to 2010 models were covered. But i believe our car has exact same problem as the later model and i would request your administration to advice toyota to issue the recall certificate for previous models also before any unfortunate accident happens due to its faulty design.
Consumer stated the gas pedal will stick in cold weather or when vehicle is cold, consumer would have to push or kick pedal before moving..
Consumer complained about a sudden acceleration problem.while driving at approximately 10 mph and approaching a traffic light the accelerator pedal stuck, causing the vehicle to accelerate without warning, andhitting a guard rail. Upon impact, air bags failed to deploy. The vehicle was totaled.
Bothbrake pedal and accelerator pedal are designed too close together. Feel free to provide any further information.
The contact owns a 2000 toyota camry. While coming from a complete stop, the accelerator pedal would stick in the open throttle position. She would continue to tap on the pedal with her foot until it would move back into the idle position. The dealer was contacted on several occasions and there were several attempts to correct the failure, exact repairs were unknown to the contact. The accelerator pedal was previously replaced as well, however the failure persisted. To date, the failure persists and there were no recalls on her vehicle. The failure mileage was 90,000 and the current mileage was approximately 155,694.
After using cruise control on my 2000 toyota camry and coming to a stop, the accelerator pedal sticks.when you proceed forward, you have to depress the accelerator pedal hard, causing the car go forward at an unsafe speed.
Dealer says that throttle sticking is the norm for camrys and is not a drive train problem and not warranted.
Vehicle hit a retainer wall. Upon impact, the air bags failed to deploy. Both the driver and the passenger sustained injuries. ....while driving consumer's daughter had a seizure and passed out with her foot on the accelerator. Consumer attempted to put vehicle in park and turn off the ignition. Took off sea belt, came into the driver's side and turned across traffic into a parking, lost garage where the vehicle struck a retaining wall.the consumer stated even though she was successful in turning off the ignition off and putting the gear in park, the vehicle continued to accelerate. The consumer stated there was problems with the accelerator sticking on several occasions including prior to the accident. Updated 04/06/11
Surfaces of brake and gas pedal became progressively more slippery causing foot to slide off and lose contact. I was told by dealer that this is" due to material car washer uses when cleaning inside car"'
While driving up hill from a stop throttle stuck, makingit hard for consumer to decelerate. The dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.*mr

While driving at 65 mph in cruise control consumer kept feeling an abnormal shift in the engine.gears were shifting, but they were doing so roughly. Cruise control was disabled ,and the vehicle was taken to the dealer.he examined the engine, drove the vehicle, and claimed that the engine was working normally.vehicle wasgetting very low gas mileage considering that this vehicle was suppose to get high gas mileage.
I purchased a previously owned 2000 toyota camry on 11/4/07.while driving from northern california to southern california on the loss date i activated the cruise control feature.traffic on the freeway began to slow and i depressed the brake pedal to slow the vehicle.traffic began moving again then suddenly stopped.i again depressed the brake pedal but the car seemed to accelerate even though i had both of my feet on the brake pedal.my car crashed into the rear of a vehicle in front of mine causing both air bags in my vehicle to deploy. The crash impact jammed the driver's door preventing it from opening, trapping me in the car with smoke pouring from under the hood.initially the electric window would not open but finally did allowing me to extricate myself from the damaged vehicle.
While driving, consumerappliedbrakes and vehicle suddenly accelerated, causing a front colision. Delaer has been notified. Consumer stated toyota tested vehicle, and no problem could be found.
While drivng about 30 mph engine suddenly accelerated without a prior warning.consumer had to turn offengine, and putpawl in neutral, vehicle then stopped, avoiding a crash into a crow.dealer said that throttle cable was the problem.

Stones not cleared from paving crew.on i -95 driving north toward columbus blvd exit..
My car was parked in my driveway.it was a cold december day.i turned on the engine and the defrosters so i could see out the windshield.later when i started driving the car i noticed there was a long crack directly above the defroster vents that stretched horizontally from one end to the other, matching the location of the vents.so it seems the defroster cracked my windshield.the differential between the warm defroster air and the cold glass.this shouldn't happen.will toyota replace my windshield or check my defroster?
There's an area onrear window that does not clear when defroster is on. This affects visionfrom this space.this problem almost caused an accident. Please provide any further information.
There is is a design flaw infresh air system. A hole exists from engine compartment into air duck in which mice or rats can fit, bringing in debris or even carbon dioxide.consumer plugging up hole .dealer say this is a commmon complaint.*mj
Blower motor for the ventilation got debris caught. This can shut the motor off. It started making loud vibration noise from a 1/2 inch leaf. Manufacturer said they would only take care of it if it was a faulty part.
The rear top corners of both front door windows are chipping and starting to crack. This has occurred in the past month. There has been no accidents or damage done to the vehicle.
My 2000 toyota camry 4 door sedan was parked in a nature park parking lot at 4:30 p.m. With the driver's side windows facing the sun, west.within thirty minutes, the two windows shattered to pieces.police were called, nothing taken or disturbed inside vehicle.police determined no foul play and windows shattered due to heat/defects.police agency is broward county sheriff's office, broward county, florida, dania beach branch, officer demerritte #11724, report number dn08-07-01142.glass debris cleaned up and windows replaced at owner's expense on july 14, 2008 at expse for both windows of $365 including tinting, by alpha window and glass3201 ne 2nd ave. Oakland park, florida.alpha personnel said they receive a lot of toyota heat breakage window work.
Driver's side window shattered in pieces, causeunknown.please provide any further information.
Intermittently with increasing frequency left front door window will not close after being opened - most inconvenient during rain and at the car wash.
I purchased a 2000 toyota camry in january of 2001.in june 2002 the rear windows would roll down, but failed to roll up.after 30 minutes or more the window would come up slightly when the switch was activated.after another 30 minutes or more it would come up a little more.this pattern had to be continued until the window was finally up.i discussed this with the dealer and he stated that since i was over the mileage warranty there was nothing he would do.i could buy a new motor for $400 to $500 each window.with children in the car the window get activated offen and the vehicle also get rain inside the car because the window could not be raised.i believeafter only 18 months of owner ship i should be able to expect the windows to operate properly.
While putting power operated driver side windowit exploded inconsuemer's face, causing minor injuries toconsumer. Contacted dealer ,and the dealer was not willing to do anything.
The windows in my car do not work. The pumps need to be replaced.the front passenger door will not unlock with my alarm pad.the windshield wipers do not function properly.this is my second toyota and the electrical system went bad in the last one i had also.my transmission had to be replaced and now my car squeaks when i am driving.it squeaks loudly.i would have submitted this before but i did not know about this website.
Wheel vibration at 60-65 mph. Tires balanced 3 times and checked for run out. Original tires replaced with michelin. Problem improved but steering wheel vibrates side to side.suspension noise from right front end when going over speed bumps, accelerating from a stop and after making left turns.hear gas movement from fuel tank when tank is full and accelerating from a stop or going over speed bumps.dealers say car perform to specs.currently in the pre-arbitration stage with toyota.
The chrome plated wheels were purchased from & installed by toyota dealer when i bought the car.the plating started to peel off since early 2000.then, my tires (no matter what brand of the tires i used) showed leaking on two of them due to the serious corrosion of the rims.i have to pump the air every week in order to maintain the correct pressure as of today.it's getting worse... I believe this is the issue causing by the wheel manufacturer toyotaauthorized and the cheap materials they used.i bought the top of the line model with the chrome wheels installed by toyota. Obviously, i didn't get what i've paid for!
Toyota wheel studs stretching and breaking off while driving.i work in the automotive field and have encountered many times where toyota wheel studs will not torque properly. When using a torque wrench to tighten the nuts sometimes they will not click. If you continue the stud snaps in half and the lug nut spins right out. This happens because the metal the stud is made of is inferior. I have seen this happen while the car was in use months after service and resulting in a wheel off situation. Toyota dealer denies there is any problem but if have seen this at least a hundred times. I have asked other shops if they have encountered thisand have been told yes. I have had toyotas in various models from model year 2000 to present. Please investigate this before more accidents and tragedies happen from this. Wheel studs should not snap off so easily and this will end up killing people(it probably has). Thank you for your time and i hope the right thing is done.which would be recalling the vehicles and having the studs replaced with quality parts.
Hit hard object in road.right rear tire acted as though it was deflated.after pulling to the side of the road, discovered dented rim that also separated into two parts lengthwise (in a complete circumference around 15" rim).
The alloy rims on my 2000 camry purchased 5/03 are showing excessive corrosion.all the vehicles over two years old on the dealers lot also had this same problem.the toyota certification program ignored the problems as i was told it did not make the rims dangerous.in my opinion this is a product defect that is not being addressed by toyota.i was told by the dealer that this is caused by brake dust and there is no corrective remedy.
I'm concerned with the peeling of the outer surface of my wheel rims that are peeling off, i think it could be dangerous to anyone in the vicinity when it flies off. It could possibly strike the hose that control the brakes, & could do any number of damages to pedestrians and other vehicles. Could you check this out ??
Alloy wheels on my vehicle are so corroded that in order to keep air in tires the wheels must be sealed with a rubber sealant.
Consumer had handling problems. Took vehicle to dlr, and dealer said that wheels are making tires wear, causing a safety risk.
