First and foremost vehicle has 345,000 miles and am the third owner and brought it from los angeles. I would like to include an image of a receipt i have from my father for $700 in costsfor breaks and tiresbefore he nine in march 2015 to chicago for its first winterin 2015. Since that time upon its firstfreezewhere the engine frozen due to the climate change the engin does not respond upon acceleration from a stop most oftentimes in traffichad began to incur it cost quite a bit of money to have a car in chicago so it is an intervening very often meaning i have to start it with amypack and charger. .also there is a discrepancy i have uncovered regarding the recall that the first owner brought infor a replacement engine approximately between 200 and 250,000 miles. I am not recovered any informationregarding such a recall north any service tickets and reports that reflect an engine replacement. However i didn't replace the radiator a few months ago due to the fact that i have not been capped or serviced within 3000 miles. I am not own a vehicle since 2000.i had purchased a new volkswagencabrio and totaled itbefore that i used to own a 95 sr5and drive a lot more consciously now in my mid 40s than my many years well driving the streets of los angelesand i am grateful for websites like yours are responsive to me accountability of the vehicles performance or is lifetime.

My 1995 toyota camry 4 cylinder suddenly stopped while i was driving for 30 minutes.no warning light come on.i saw many complaint similar http://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/toyota_engine.html and this "toyota agrees to sludge settlement for consumers" http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2007/01/toyota_sludge_settlement.html.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. In heavy traffic in minneapolis. It was a warm, sunny afternoon.i was driving on a road that had very heavy traffic and was controlled by stop lights. The speed limit was 35 with most cars going about 40-45. For a few miles my car had been slowly increasing in rpm's and had been accelerating on it's own without my needing to use the accelerator pedal. I actually needed to keep my foot on the brake at all times to keep the car in control and around the speed limit. It was controllable until, suddenly, it shot up to 5,000+ rpm's and then, even with both feet on the brake pedal attempting to stop the car, the car would not slow. I was approaching a stoplight with stopped cars and as my car would not slow, within 20-30 feet of the stopped car, and still at a speed of about 30 miles per hour, i put the car into park and it violently jolted to a stop. The car was in the middle of road in traffic and sat there for 15-20 minutes. During this time, i attempted to start the car on 2-3 occasions and each time as soon as the car was started it immediately went up to 5,000+ rpms . The car was eventually pushed into a parking lot and sat for 2-3 hours. After this time, it started normally and ran normally. It was driven straight to a toyota dealership and the scenario was described to the service department. They diagnosed it and examined the car and there was nothing found wrong with the vehicle.

While stopped with foot on brake, the engine vibrates terrible and the steering wheel shakes; the whole car shakes especially bad when in reverse.the previous owner spent a lot of $$ trying to fix this problem. Now, i'm spending $$ trying to fix this problem.i just had a tune up, and i will be replacing the timing belt, fuel pump, fuel filter, pcv valve, distributor cap & rotor, tension spring, idler pully, and who knows what else.i have read over and over again that the toyota dealer says this is normal, but this is not normal vibration by any means.

The contact owns a 1995 toyota camry. The contact was driving approximately 35 mph when he noticed that smoke was emitting from the engine compartment. He was able to extinguish the fire by himself although the fire department did respond. The cause of the failure was unknown. The manufacturer had not been notified. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The current and failure mileages were approximately 243,447.

Vehicle has not been repaired yet.service department told me there were bearings in my oil pan.they said that sludge probably plugged up the oil flow.i can\\'t believe a six cylinder toyota engine should fail at 110,000 miles.

Problem: my 1995 camry suddenly accelerated.while attempting to increase speed from 32 to 35 mph in the third lane during rush hour traffic, my vehicle accelerated as if i had floored the gas pedal (the pedal was minimally depressed.)i immediately stepped on the brakes, then turned off the engine.i put the car in neutral and glided to a stop.after waiting 2 minutes i restarted the vehicle.without touching the gas pedal the engine reved up past 7,000 rpm.i turned off the car immediatly.i tried pushing the pedal up after waiting 3 minutes.once again the vehicle raced in neutral to 7,000 rpm.i opened the hood and (using a pair of pliers) rotated the throttle assembly.while rotating the assembly i felt the assembly hit and go through some kind of barrier.i restarted my vehicle.this time it started normally.i took the car to a repair tech who said he thinks the spark plug wire caught on the assembly.he wire tied the spark plug wires to a small rubber hose to secure it.there is enough play in where the cables are routed (even though the wires are tight) for the spark plug wires to touch the assembly while driving.the tech said that that might have been the problem and to call him if i had any more problems. He also reminded to turn off the engine (again) if i had any further acceleration problems.any other causes?i almost hit the vehicle in in front of me.had i not turned of the engine the brakes (even though they are new) would not have stopped the acceleration.i reacted quickly.from sudden acceleration to engine off were less than 3 seconds and the engine was really racing.the depression i placed upon the pedal should have taken 10 seconds to bring me to 35 from 32.instead, in less than 3 seconds i was going 40 and accelerating.the brakes alone could not have stopped the acceleration of the car.

While traveling on highway and without prior warningvehicle engine overheated, and shut down. It will not restart. Idealer is aware ofproblem.please fill in additional information.

Although i had timely oil and fluid changes and inspections, the technicians reported i had oil sludge on several occasions. Without notice, in nov, 2002, car suddenly overheated. Symptoms were smoking and leaky radiator. During inspection tech noted: "vehicle has alot of sludge in valve cover/ oil drains slowly & over flows w/filled too fast."

Engine seized with oil stick still showing oil.1,000 miles later transmission went out. Car still stalled after new transmission. Replaced distributor cap, no luck. Tightened lose ignition wire, no luck. Replace ignition wire connection, finally no problems.now i no longer have confidence in toyota products.

While driving vehicle 50mph, a bolt holdingrod cap came off & fell intooil pan. This causedengine to lock up onfront wheel drive inmiddle of traffic. Engine was not stripped. While drivng, the engine failure light keeps coming on and had to be taken to the dealer a total of six times.please describe.

When first purchased vehicle it had a minor engine vibration when you put yourfoot on the brake with the car on and in drive. This problem has gotten consitentnly worse over time. The engine vibration's severity with foot on the brake and in gear varies. It can be quite severe at times. I have taken the car to a toyota dealer and they said that this vibration is normal on all toyota camrys from 1992- 1995. The vehicles timing belt and complete tuneup has been done and it appears that the problem has worsened.

Consumer states that three engine mounts were worn and had to be replaced by the dealer due to metal fatigue. As a result of the fatigue the catalytic convertor is cracked and it is now in need of replacment.the engine o rings were leaking and were replaced.*jg

My 1995 toyota camry began to have documented signs of oil sludge during routine maintenance around 1999.each time i would have the oil changed and any repairs made to keep my car in good and working condition, it was noted that my oil had sludge. At that time, i knew nothing of the toyota sludge issue.after having this diagnosis a few times, i went somewhere else for a second opinion since the "sludge" problem kept recurring despite of regular maintenance.i was told about toyota models with complaints of engine sludge.my model was not included (1995 camry, v4).i have since contacted toyota without recourse.i have spent over 5k to rebuild my engine and i am seeking reimbursement from toyota and petitioning to have my model and other toyota models with engine oil sludge to be recalled.

From a dead stopcar lurched when gas was applied.also, front and rear engine mounts displayed failure from metal fatigue

Within 96,000 miles engine head gasket cracked, causing oil to leak which may result in anengine failure.

1995 toyota camry caught on fire while driving.while driving the consumer noticed smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle.he pulled over onto the shoulder, removed the key from the ignition and proceeded to open the hood when he noticed fire under the hood.the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames (ohio traffic crash report).

Consumer thinks it is dangerous because she is able to remove her key from ignition while it is still indrive.timing belt failed and was replaced.

Consumer states that while driving at any speed and no warning the motor blew and now it is causing oil to leak from the vehicle. Dealer notified. Mr

Dt*:the contact stated after parking the vehicle the contact went inside.after a few minutes they looked out and saw smoke coming from the front of the vehicle.the fire department was contacted, the fire was extinguished.the engine in the vehicle is completely destroyed.no inspection has been made.the manufacturer has not been alerted.

While drivng, the engine failure light keeps coming on and had to be taken to the dealer a total of six times.please describe.

Engine failed causing fire.

When i went to have my car inspected, the service tech said that it wouldn't pass and asked if i had a local mechanic that i wanted to take it to.i took it too meineke and he said that the pipe going into my converter went and i had to replace the pipe and converter.he said that it was relatively common for my car.i have a 1995 toyota camry and it had a little over 29,000 miles on it.

The contact owns a 1995 toyota camry. While driving approximately 50 mph, the contact noticed a loud roaring sound from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated that the catalytic converter would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, after the repair the failure recurred. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 29,223 updated 12/19/12 updated 01/09/13

While driving on the 190-n approximately 3 miles from my home, my hood did pop open and was ejected from my vehicle traveling about 100 feet striking another vehicle traveling in the same direction causing damage to same.my mechanic did state that the latch was extensively covered in rust.i am currently waiting for my insurance company to look at the damage and investigate as to the reason my latch did not work releasing my hood.this could have caused many fatalities had it been a busy week day.i was driving with my 8 year old son, thank god i kept a clear head and was able to keep control of my vehicle pulling it to the side of the road.the vehicle that was hit did stop avoiding the hood from striking his windshield by inches definitely saving his life. I need to know how this could have happened.

The latches on all four doors have broken due to weak plastic.it would not have been a major problem, but a passenger of mine, a child, cut her finger on the exposed metal.i have called dealerships to get this problem repaired but have just been laughed at and been told that this is a problem due to wear and tear.i don't believe this to be so, because i have purchased toyota vehicles in the past and have never experienced such poor craftsmanshipbefore.this incident may deter me from buying another toyota vehicle in the future.currently, i am in the market for another vehicle.

Shoulder harness crosses neck of 5'0" driver or passenger, even at extreme settings of seat and harness anchor points. Harness should cross shoulder over bone, rather than soft tissue. Seat belt extenders have been used by this occupant in other brand vehicles with success. These extenders were furnished by the auto manufacturers. Although toyota manufactures and offers this device, they will only provide it on the basis of obesity sufficient to prevent buckling the harness; there is no provision in their written guidelines for short stature users of normal girth. Toyota further states that their engineering data indicates that passing the belt across the neck is an acceptable condition. As an engineer i take exception to this statement and believe that all similar toyota shoulder harness assemblies are equally defective. My cousin purchased a used 1995 camry last year and while driving down the road she noticed the engine compartment was smoking so she raced to pull over one block further from where it started & at the stopping point and shutting the engine down it gulfed in flames. 2 kids in back seat she does every effort to save them. However the notorious door handles inside and out were broken she had to pray to get power back on roll the window down and grab the exterior broken handle to exit. During this process she is on fire but exits to save the children unharmed. My cousin is severely burned on her one arm body and legs. Beyond repair of satisfaction but she deals with the suffer. The dealer is refusing compensation.

Accelerator stuck after pvc valve replaced caused by clamp on pvc valve.while driving about 35 mph in traffic, noticed brakes did not stop car.tried to pump accelerator hard to release but it did not work.rpm's reached 6000.tried putting car in park but it stopped at reverse.car screeched to halt and squealed into reverse in lunch hour traffic.immediately put back in drive.again screach and squeal and going forward.after two attempts to get car out of gear, finally got car into neutral and pulled to shoulder of road.whew! turned key off.called aaa.aaa mechanic 'supervisor' on tow truck found accelerator stuck on clamp from pcv valve.aaa 'supervisor' turned clamp and said accelerator would not stick on it again.pvc valve had been replace at last oil change.now transmission is slipping in 3rd and reverse.while on a downward hill with car in reverse, rolled forward.car jerks around 45mph. Estimated cost to repair $1800-3200 (rebuilt vs. New).now notice that steering column cover rattles while driving?

The contact owns a 1995 toyota camry. The contact stated the vehicle abnormally accelerated to 30 mph and there was an unusual increase in engine rpms up to 5,000. When the failure would occur, the contact would shift into neutral and apply the brakes to stop the unintended acceleration. The dealer advised that the cruise link assembly and throttle was binding and becoming stuck. The dealer advised replacing both. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 185,904 and the current mileage was 185,950.

I have a 1995 toyota camry that will go on its own. No need to push the gas pedal. I can stop it using the brake but it will then go on its own when i release the brake. I have to really push the brake at stop lights. I have to shift into neutral to stop the car.

The contact owns a 1995 toyota camry. While driving approximately 30 mph on normal road conditions and applying pressure to the accelerator pedal, unexpectedly, the accelerator pedal began to stick. The vehicles speed increased to 90 mph. In an attempt to engage the brake pedal and the parking brake, the vehicle failed to slow down. The vehicle came to a complete stop only after the gear shift was forced into park while the vehicle was moving. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to her residence with extreme caution. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection. The contact has concerns of the significant safety hazard. The vin was unavailable. The failure and current mileages were unknown.

The contact owns a 1995 toyota camry. While the contact was driving out of a car wash the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning and caused the contact to crash into a house. No one was injured during the crash. The failure was not diagnosed by the dealer. The current and failure mileages were 52000.

Consumer said, when he set the cruise control at 55 mph and traveling on level ground or uphill it holds this speed perfectly. But if he start down hill the system does not sense promptly that the car is accelerating. It always takes between 20 and 30 seconds before it senses the increased speed and releases the throttle. By then the car is traveling 8 to 14 mph faster.

I was driving to work one day and my 1995 toyota camry started accelerating on its own on the freeway, at first i thought i was imagining it. I hit the brakes and it would not slow down. The car kept accelerating faster and faster on it's own till it went up to 90 mph. I pulled on my emergency brakes, that slowed the car down a bit but not by very much. It mostly just made a cement grinding sound. It was really scary i felt like i was in adeath machine. Luckily there weren't very many people on the freeway that day, so i just swerved out of the way of the other cars. I finally got it to slow down enough with the emergency break and i immediately turned my car off and had it towed to a mechanic who repaired the issue. I was really lucky, i think if there were more people on the freeway that day, there would have been a very different outcome.

1995 toyota camry. Consumer states sudden acceleration was the cause of an accident.*tgwthe consumers wife was driving the vehicle when it suddenly accelerated and crashed into a tree and a wall. The consumer's wife was seriously injured.

The contact owns a 1995 toyota camry. The contact stated that while driving uphill, the vehicle began to accelerate suddenly. The contact pressed both feet on the brake pedal but the vehicle continued to accelerate. When the vehicle reached the top of the hill, the engine froze. The vehicle was inspected by a local mechanic who stated that the motor needed to be replaced. The current and failure mileages were 140,000.

While stationary, w/automatic transmission vehicle will attempt to surge forward in drive with brakes on. Please describe please.tt

The contact owns a 1995 toyota camry. He stated that when he applied the brake pedal at an intersection he heard a loud winding noise. The vehicle would not come stop until he was forced to shift gears into the park position. The failure occurred intermittently approximately every four to six weeks. He stated that the engine acted as if it was trying to override the braking system. The dealer stated that it was an idling problem and they could not duplicate the failure. He also stated that in 2004 he experienced sudden acceleration while driving in reverse and the vehicle suddenly crashed into the restaurant. He didn't suffer any injuries. The portsmouth police department report number is 04-020448. The failure mileage in 2004 was 20,000 and the current mileage was 161,800. Updated 02/23/10. *ljthe consumer stated the first time the sudden acceleration occurred, he shifted into reverse with his foot on the brake, and the vehicle accelerated quickly and the consumer hit a building.the consumer stated the sudden acceleration has happened several times. From a dead stopcar lurched when gas was applied.also, front and rear engine mounts displayed failure from metal fatigue

When the cruise control is engaged in my 1995 6-cylinder camry, it can suddenly and forcefully apply the accelerator, jerking the vehicle forward and backward before disengaging and not reengaging until the ignition is turned off. It was very frightening so i took it to the dealer who read the error code and assured me it was not dangerous and refused to repair it under warranty. I spoke to the toyota representative and he too refused to authorize warranty work. I have not used the cruise control since and have asked toyota to reconsider a warranty repair based on recent disclosures of concealment of unintended acceleration.

Throttle surging periodic95 toyota camry.

Cruise control suddenly "spikes" (unintended accelleration) without warning.

The contact owns a 1995 toyota camry. The contact was driving approximately 71 mph with the cruise control activated. As the brakes were depressed, the cruise control would not deactivate and the vehicle would not decelerate. In order to stop the vehicle, the entire engine was shut off. The failure recurred intermittently and at least five times. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics or repairs. The approximate failure mileage was 163,000. The vin was not available.

After coming to a complete stop conusumer hit on acceleratorand vehicle hesitated to go. Then, it lostcontrol. Vehiclewas totalled.

1995 toyota camry with unintended acceleration while pulling off from a stop.the consumer stated she placed the gear into neutral and the vehicle still did not stop. She then pulled the key out of the ignition and immediately put the vehicle into park. The consumer no longer owns the vehicle. She sold it in 2005.

When starting from dead stop, accelerator linkage hangs up and when pedal is depressed enough to effect release, engine is in high rpm, causing car to lurch suddenly forward.

Vehicle cruise control suddenly accelerates without driver input and continues to accelerate/decelerate until cruise control is disengaged. When reactivated, it works fine until the next episode.

The vehicle's idle speed after morning start, is very low because the idle speed control valve was sticking. Yh

The idle speed control valve breaks down every about two years.in cold starting, engine does not start.replacement is expensive at $400.toyota should recall this inherently defective part.my problem began in 1997, 1999 and 2002.

When starting vehicle it will stall, vehicle will not stay started, contacted dealer, and dealer stated idle control valve was faulty.*yd

Power window repair said this is a common problem and takes days to get part and during that time window can't be put up.

Cars brakes squeel dealer says they cannot repair the problem

Design of front windshield is very slanted and reflects dashboard image causing blurred visibility, blindness during sunset. Also, no abs stamping on vehicle.

Windshield noise.*skd

While driving vehicle about 25 mph the window on the passenger's side shattered and blew the broken glass pieces into the vehicle. The window is being repaired.consumer claims that he did not make an inquiry to nhtsa nor does he own the aboved mentioned vehicle.

Abs brake system, when brakes applied noticed noisy and long stopping distance.ttpassenger seat failure.window squeaks when winding it down.vehicle has experienced two flat tires, consumer did not give any specific tire information.

At night or when raining its hard to see out the window talked to dealer will not fix it .tt

Steering wheel came off while driving due to lug: nut that fell off, causing losscontrol.
