My dash is cracking and falling apart.what kind of engineering is this that the dash falls apart in such a short time in a car that is supposed to out last its competitors.

Struck from rear by another driver at high rate of speed; was thrown forward into driver side interior door panel and driver's head struck the convertible top metal top-folding structure.believe the seat belt tensioner device failed to function properly and the air bag failed to deploy, as well. The convertible top for this model was in the up position at impact.the air bags did not deploy and the seat belt caused both the driver and passenger to lurch forward, causing serious bodily damage to both parties.driver sustained brain injury and spinal injury and is still receiving treatment and surgery for his injuries.passenger is also receiving on-going treatment for spinal and knee injury sustained as the result of the seat belt tensioner and air bag failure, as well.

At 27 months into the cars standard warranty (less than 5000 miles) the dash pad across the entire front of the car began to show signs of cracks in random areas, of varying lengths including areas where the airbags are stored.my closest toyota dealership (south dade toyota) in homestead , fl. Inspected the damaged areas, completed no paper work and stated "this is a common problem for some toyotaand lexus models and there is nothings that can be done short of the customer paying for a new dash pad assembly and it's installation".my wife is afraid to drive her car, and we are afraid to sell the car for fear of liability that the air bags might not deploy when needed or deploy in an unintended manner.toyota continues to avoid the issue despite the fact there are 100's of affected owners using theses damaged vehicles.

I am the manager at renty car rental.we have been experiencing many problems with our toyota's clock spring.this part has been going defective and turning the air bag light on.this has happened with 3 of our toyota's.it has become quite an issue.these are expensive parts to replace, and we must replace them as soon as we find the problem.we are very scared that this item might fail and the airbag might not deploy.

My dashboard is sticky and is cracked from driver to passenger sides.also is cracked where airbags are. Dashboard is also shiney and suns reflections makes it dangerous driving. I am afraid airbags will inflate.

I am the first owner of the toyota which now has 46,000 miles, and always been garaged. The problem is the dashboard which has many cracks in it and the dashboard is melting and sticky. This started about 2 years ago and is continuing to get worse with more deterioration. The safety issue problem is the dashboard is very shiny and makes it difficult to see when driving on a sunny day. The cracks in the dashboard are also a concern since they may interfere with the deployment of the dashboard air bags in an accident. Five years ago toyota replaced all the defective vinyl window moldings on the car without my request. This show they may have a problem with their vinyl supplier. A local toyota dealer, earl stewart toyota, north palm beach, fl has requested toyota make a no charge recall. This also is a problem with lexus and nissan vehicles. In the past few years toyota has been able to conceal or been very slow to address known defects. I trust your agency can make toyota comply with a speedy recall with no charge to the owners. Thank you.

I have been the one and only owner of a 2006 toyota solara convertible sle that has been garage kept most of its life. Dashboard appears to be "melting" - has numerous cracks and is very sticky. The glare of the shiny sticky dashboard is distracting and a visual hazard. Have tried several products in an attempt to clean/unsticky the dashboard. Dealerships have stated that this is a result of intense daytime heat, and not a manufacturers defect. Several other camry owners have stated the same complaint.

In august 2014, i noticed a hairline crack in the dashboard on the driver's side from the beginning edge of the dash up an around the steering wheel. A month later, an additional crack appeared on middle console ending at the stereo component. Cracks are increasing in number and length over time. Car has had a single owner, garaged, with meticulous care.i'm concerned that crack(s) could eventually pose a projectile problem in the event the airbag deploys and the dash comes apart in pieces during airbag deployment. Additionally, very disappointed to know this will affect resale value, something that makes owning a toyota a reason to buy it initially.

I was traveling north on rte. 209, passing the green light. When a ford focus traveling south on rte. 209 made a left turn, causing a collision with my car. I impacted his car in rear section around the tire, bending his tire.the air bags in the toyota did not deploy which i believe caused more damage to my back.the other driver was written a citation (vr3322) in the pa violations section. My wife was able to drive car to our house 3-4 miles away.i was transported to pocono medical center. Their exam was a joke. I am going to see an orthopedic doctor on 11/12/2013. The pain has increased a lot since accident. I believe if the air bags had deployed i might have been spared more pain. I am insisting on a cat scan, mri, & xrays on my back to compare to previous tests done in 2009.i feel toyota should be held accountable for defective air bags. If this had been a major crash i do not think my wife and i would be doing very well. This is inexcusable for the air bags to fail. Lives depend on them working!

2006 solara has developed cracks in the vinyl covering of the dash pad....including areas around the air bags mounted in the dash.car has 11,000 miles, stored inside and under a custom cover.in addition to the cracks, the vinyl covering is very sticky to the touch and emits a strong odor.toyota declined to address the problem on two occasions while under warranty and has now washed their hands of the issue due to a lapsed warranty.the problem is affecting hundreds of owners of both toyota and lexus models yet toyota asserts the problems are cosmetic.the car is seldom driven for fear the air bags might deploy and uncertain of the health issues related to the vinyl odors the car emits.

Airbags did not deploy. Car hit a light pole at 45 miles per hour.

The contact owns 2006 toyota camry solara. The contact stated the dashboard was cracked. The contact was concerned since the air bag was located underneath the dashboard and could deploy. The vehicle was not inspected by the dealer, but the contact was told that was a known problem. The failure mileage was unknown. The current mileage was 57,000.

I own a 2006 toyota solara convertible.this car is garaged except when driven.earlier this year i noticed small cracks developing around the edges of the dashboard.however, now the cracks have grown and there are some very large cracks.i am very concerned about the large cracks developing on the passenger side of the dashboard.can these cracks affect the operation of the dashboard air bags??

My 2006 solara convertible has deep cracks all along the dash end to end which may affect the operability of the airbag.it's shiny, goofy, sticky which definitely affects visibility.i have no idea what else it affects.i thought it was caused by heat until i read the some 75 exactly identical complaints.toyota needs to recall the dash rather than ask we consumers to pay $2,400 to fix it.this was a $32,000 vehicle.bad enough that the adhesive around the back window dissolved, now this.it's undrivable, unsaleable and i only have 27000 miles on it

Air bag light stays on all the time...on dash... Air bags have not gone off yet.

The contact owns a 2006 toyota camry solara se/sle. While driving approximately 30 mph the contact fell asleep and crashed into six mail boxes, a fence, and several trees. The vehicle came to a stop when it crashed into a large pine tree. The driver frontal air bag did not deploy. The contact received injuries to her ribs, and chest. The insurance company towed the vehicle and will investigate why the air bag failed to deploy. The manufacturer will be contacted. A police report was filed. The vehicle was notrepaired. The failure and the current miles were 36,000.

This is a solution to a vexing problem. The "ghost in the ecu" problem has been solved with simple inexpensive technology. It is installed on a vehicle in so cal (near disneyland), available for demonstration.getting the word out without being overrun by media is a delicate balance, so i contacted you folks through this form. The technology is patent pending, and licensing or assigning it is the goal. Please don't condemn me for being open and honest.

Positive battery cable is corroded, including the wires connected to the battery terminal.corrosion was a large mound when we opened hood to add washer fluid.tried to remove corrosion and discovered the entire connection to battery terminal has disintegrated.rigged it up with $3 part from autozone.dealer states they've never had any such problems.dealership has the only people that have been under the hood of my car.i am there every 5000 miles....like clockwork.can't believe they didn't see signs of this on last visit.they want $3100 to replace the main wiring harness!what would have happened if i didn't catch this?it would have shorted out and possibly caught fire.

The contact owns a 2006 toyota camry solara. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact smelled smoke and the front passenger side window opened independently. The contact discovered that the window control on the front driver side door was melting down into the door. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that the power window master switch assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 173,000.

Abnormal operation between accelerator and throttle. Tech tested throttle body and tests passed. Tech tested accelerator pedal and values out of range. Tech would think this could cause a dtc to set if not functioning properly but there were no codes. At random moments, the car will not accelerate. Cannot get answers. Occurs most often after idling at a light then starting to accelerate it won't move. This has occurred over the years so we have had the throttle and filter cleaned twice in the past but problem is persistent and becoming more frequent.

2006 solara was driven by my son who was found dead in a canal on 1/28/08 by a passerby.the car had the tendency to have the floor mat on the drivers side ride up, which i was used to as it was my car.therefore, i suspect the floor mat rode up onto accelerator pedal causing car to be unable to stop without turning off the engine.the car was found upside down with the car in park with the keys removed in 4' of water with my only child laying face down in the water dead. Since the recall came after his death, the car had already been salvaged and not able to have proof to determine cause.

I am reporting 2 instances of unintended throttle acceleration in my 2006 solara.circumstances in both cases were similar. The two cases: (1) approximately november 1, 2009 -- i was driving slowly in a parking lot. I braked to make a turn when the engine suddenly accelerated violently. Stepping hard on the brake and pulling the shifter into n stopped the acceleration. The car then operated normally. (2) approximately december 20, 2009 -- i was pulling slowly into a parking place in front of a post office when the engine suddenly accelerated violently. Stepping hard on the brake and pulling the shifter into n stopped the acceleration. The car then operated normally. Obviously i am concerned about this problem especially with the publicity and recalls but understand that my model is not on recall.

Twice black foam material emits from heating and air conditioning ducts staining clothing, and getting in eyes causing irritation and blurred vision. Second time this almost causedan accident. Vehicle has been to dealer twice problem has not been resolved.

I have a 2006 toyota avalon and each time you accelerate on the gas a sulfur smell emits from the car into the cabin.have tried several different brands of gas with no luck. Dealership keeps telling me it is just the gas in kentucky and that nothing is wrong with car but i know several other avalon owners that have never had this problem before.the dealership said it only occurs on some cars and there is nothing they can do.

Dash has cracks all over. Never been in an accident. One owner, well maintained, adult female owner.

2006 toyota solara suddenly accelerated when leaving a parking lot space.started a chain reaction ultimately involving the solara and four other cars.no personal injury since all cars except the solara were parked.estimate $35-40k in property damage.after repairs, took the solara to a toyota dealer who said the problem was a carbon build up in the throttle system.

Fails to accelerate when the pedal is pressed or revs to quickly when the pedal is pressed-see rk. Found electronic throttle control fault. There is no throttle movement until the accelerator pedal is pressed approximately 1/3 to 1/2 way to the floor. Then the vehicle lurches due to rapid throttle opening to 1/3-1/2. There are no stored diagnostic codes. The vehicle is not going into fail safe mode as it should. With any throttle or accelerator pedal malfunction. The vehicle never entered fail safe mode even after repeated malfunctions. The vehicle is unsafe to drive.

On this day i had driven 100 miles on the highway.i proceeded to exit a ramp and my 2006 solara convertible lost drive.i was unable to park and the car wouldn't go although the vehicle was still in drive.i tried reverse and i was able to park by backing up.after several tries of driving without being able to get into drive i made several phone calls to aaa.after 30 minutes of not using the car it started up and drive was working.i proceeded on my trip.afterthe car sat for several hours i began the trip home.i made it as far as the exit where the hotel was i was to stay at that night.upon exiting the ramp i again had no drive.it was dark and no lights at the exit.i was frightened i would be hit from behind so i was able to backup onto a grassy area next to the exit ramp.again i had no drive.i waited for 20 minutes hoping this was again a temporary problem.i tried again and the car began to move slowly with the engine sounding like i was going very fast.the car was barely moving and i now smelled something burning.i called aaa and had the car towed to falmouth toyota.(100 miles but close to home.)the car has been there a week and they can't find anything wrong with it.i am told they have tested all that they can.a mechanic has driven it several times with the diagnositc equipment on it but nothing has gone wrong.i pleaded with them to drive it in excess of 60 miles to try and duplicate the problem but they state they can't justify that.i'm told i must take back the car without knowing if this will happen again. Is this the reliability i should expect from toyota?

I have a 2006 toyota camry/solara convertible. It has a tendency to hesitate when i accelerate. This is very dangerous as i drive interstate 95 in the northern va area and have had several close calls while trying to get onto the highway. This needs to be a recall item.

2006 toyota solara developed various problems.*mrthe consumer rented the vehicle when he discovered the problems with the head rest which protruded from the back seat restricting the already tiny rear window.when backing from any parking space, with the top up, t he consumer was unable to seepedestrians .the vehicle had a 4-8 second delay when automatically shifting from second to a higher gear. The outside temperature gauge became stuck. The lcd gauges can't be seen when driving in bright sunlight.

Within the past 6 months, i've noticed a lag between the time i depress the accelerator and the transmission engaging.this mainly occurs at low speeds, however, it does occur when decelerating (when approaching a traffic light for example) and i have to accelerate if the light changes.i contacted the local dealership and talked to a service representative.the representativeindicated that the "shift points" were faulty and that toyota was aware of the problem.he also indicated that avalon's have the problem too.he advised me to wait a few months for direction from toyota.i contacted toyota to confirm what the dealership had conveyed.toyota indicated that there were no service bulletins regarding this problem or that a problem of this nature existed.

I own a 2006 toyota solara convertible.while driving this vehicle i have to accelerate, for example when changing lanes on the highway and trying to increase speed, the vehicle hesitates and there is a delay and then will increase in power.this is dangerous because this also happened at an intersection when i was turning left, i depressed the gas pedal-the vehicle hesitated, then power was reinstated.this is a daily occurrence and it needs to be looked into.i believe a recall needs to be issued due to the nature of the problem and potential effects it could have.

I was sitting in my car stopped behind school bus with my seatbelt on .i was rear ended my shoulderbelt did not lock and my visor dropped down and severed my forehead and i hit the top of my head.i needed 50 stitches in my forehead and needed plastic surgery. The visor, which is all steel , sliced my forehead open.i do not think a steel visor should be in front of a drivers head.

-the contact had difficulty seeing out ofthe2006 toyota camry solara'srearview mirror because the head restraintwas blocking theview.the contact called manufacturer to see if they couldinstall the head restraintthat was on the 2007 toyota camry solara which was different from the headrest she had in her vehicle, but manufacturer stated they could not do that.the only option the manufacturer gave herwasto trade inthe vehicle.the current mileage was 2600.

The head rest in the back totally block the vision when backing out of a parking spot.there is a definite blind spot that is not diminished by the rear view mirror.i have had this car for 1 month and have had 3 "close calls" with pedestrians appearing as if from nowhere.i have never had this problem in any other automobile.

Dt*: the contact stated the rear seat assembly headrests obstructed the view of the driver while attempting to back the vehicle out of a parking space or while driving and looking to pass a vehicle.the vehicle was inspected by a dealer who determined this was a normal design and instructed the contact to use the rearview and side mirrors for viewing while the vehicle was in reverse.the manufacturer was not contacted.updated 10/18/2006 -

- the contact owns a 2006 toyota solara convertible with a current and failure mileage of 12,953 . The contact stated that the vehicle was in a crash on march 27, 2007the driver was backing out of the parking spot and hit another vehicle.she could not see out of the rearview mirror because the head rest was too big.there was no police report. The vehicle was not towed. The contact stated took the vehicle to the dealer to see if he could get the headrest taken off or replaced with smaller one,and was told that the headrest could not be removed or replaced.update 05/04/07\updated 08/08/07.

The contact owns a 2006 toyota camry solara.the contact stated that the rear seat headrests restrict visibility.the manufacturer stated that nothing can be done because that is how the seat was designed.the purchase date and a valid vin were unknown.the current mileage is 25,000 and failure mileage was 10.

I have a 2006 toyota solara, sle, 6 cyl. Eng., automatic, sunroof.i was driving into a parking space at the mall, slowing down with my foot on the brake.as i pushed on the brake to park, it went to the floor, and my engine surged loudly, hitting the parked car in front of me about 9-12 feet out of it's space.i frantically turned my steering wheel to my left, jumped a curb, went through a few bushes and hit a tree which stopped my car.i turned my key off, placed it in park and threw my keys on to the passenger seat.this car caused the crash.i have never felt anything so strange as i could not stop this car with the brake.it happened in only about 4 seconds.i had the car towed to the dealer, as i didn't want to drive it.i feel it is unsafe to drive until it is fixed by toyota.i have never had any trouble with my car except some hesitation in moving fast into traffic.toyota sent an inspector to the dealership to check out the car on 8/17/10.i called to see what the results were and they sent a message by a secretary that nothing was abnormal and it was safe to drive.this car is not safe.i will not allow my insurance to pay for the physical damage until toyota fixes the brake/acceleration problem.i am lucky that i, or someone else didn't get killed or hurt.next time it could be different. This crash was not my fault!if all the other cars had these problems, why do they feel the solara isn't included?maybe, this is the first of many solara's.i am disappointed that toyota doesn't respond to customer's better.all they have to do is fix it and it's over.i'm not so confident in any of their products as of now.i didn't realize so many people have the same story, they all can't be lying!thank you for letting me send in this complaint.i'm sure i will have a fight on my hands.

Anti-lock brakes don't work properly on slippery roads. Thebrakes seem to pulsate to rapidly when depressed and don't stop until brakes are released.

The contact owns a 2006 toyota camry solara. The contact stated that there was an increase in braking distance and time. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer and they advised the contact that the failure could be caused by the master cylinder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000. The vin was unavailable.

This complaint is being made on the behalf of my father (who does not have internet access). My father's 2006 toyota solara has a failure with the steering u joint shaft. He has made repeated complaint's to toyota, and they refuse to take care of the issue at their own expense.

The "vsc" continues to come on which in turn causes the ck engine light to come on. There needs to be a recall on this issue. I have been researching it, and finding it a problem for so so many customers.

I noticed my steering wheel was not responding as normal and was making noises.power steering pump for my 2006 toyota solara was leaking fluid and needed to be replaced between 58 - 59 k miles.i strictly follow the maintenance schedule for the car and my car is always serviced by the dealership that i purchased the vehicle from.

Yesterday, july 26, 2015, i received in the mail a second letter from toyota motor sales customer experience department regarding the warranty enhancement program - ze6 concerning the replacement of the sticky dashboard of some make and model.mine is a 2006 toyota solara.it's ridiculous why the warranty enhancement is only for the sticky dashboard when the steering wheel and inside door panels are made of the exact same material.these parts must be covered as well especially we touch these parts every single time we use the vehicle.on mine, i noticed the disintegration of the material since last year when i was wipe cleaning the interior of my solara.this warranty enhancement must be extended to fix the material on the steering wheel and door panels.i know i'm not the only one experiencing this because i read blogs and there are others experiencing the same issue even on lexus 2006.you should look into this because we pay a lot in purchasing our vehicles and we deserve our money's worth.

Since 2009 my dash board has been cracking and as i have search for a possible recall, i have been unable to find one that shows toyota is taking responsibility on it.i have searched online and there seems to be a lot of people who have complained about their dash cracking and toyota taking no ownership of a possible defect in it. As time progresses there are more crack that are appearing and i am afraid that it will get worse if my air bag on the passenger side deploys.

My 2006 toyota camry solara's dashboard is cracked and more cracks seem to appear out of nowhere.the vehicle is garaged and under shade during the day.it has been cracked for years and continues the same trend. I've seen other toyotas with cracked dashboards, there must be a service bulletin for this.i could ignore it for a while, but now it has gone too far.

Dash cracks without reason.not sure how the airbags deploy on this car but may pose a hazard during deployment.energy absorption may be compromised by the many cracks.one owner, low miles and although parked outdoors always used a sun shield.this is the only car i've ever owned where the dash had cracked.

Entire dashboard cracked and continued for several months.there are multiple cracks all over the dashboard.my son had the same thing happen to his 2006 solara convertible two months prior to ours.both cars were always garaged and had very few miles on them.my son had about 18,000 and we had about 16,000.we both called toyota and we were each told it was beyond warranty and there was nothing they could do.

Multiple cracks/spider web type in the dash board. Going around the top of the steering wheel, across the radio panel, below the glove box and above the glove box/air bag area and along the side door panel.

I have a toyota camry solara 2006, when i got my car, i feel in love with it, and it made me so happy, i also love convertibles, and i loved the way it felt, and i could sit up high instead of low, cause i have back problems. The other day i saw a crack in the dash, which broke my heart, and the next few day's, i saw more cracks over my steering wheel .my car is kept under a garage.i wanted to keep this care forever, cause it was so perfect for me, now this has really upset me, cause my beautiful car has cracks in it now, and i wonder what else is going to happen. I'm 58 years old and i want to have a nice car. I feel this is not fare, i was sure that toyota's were great cars and i was set, but now i feel like my car is going to look awful and it is very upsetting to me. I think toyota should do something about this. They should be ashamed to make cars like this. I just hope they can do something to fix my problem.

My 2006 toyota camry solara has dashboard cracks that just appeared in the past six months. This appears to be an issue with many solara owners.

I purchased this 06 solara with one small crack on the dash, i thought the stickiness and bright shine (that impairs my vision) was due to the use of a vinyl or leather high gloss protector the was used on the dash (silly me). The car is garage kept, a month later i noticed another crack and this is continuing. At the present it looks as if has been in a cat fight. I owned a camry for 12 years and it wasn't garaged, neither did i have this problem.i wonder if there is pressure some where in the dash, is it the material that was used, or is it the design of the dash. Will there ever be a recall or at the least some kind of help with the repair that has affected so many people?

Dash is cracking for no reason and has become tacky/ sticky... You can't wipe the dust off it is so sticky... Cracks came out of no where.

Interior plastic materials around the dash are melting. Material melting and cracking, sticky to the touch, causing visibility issues.

This is an ongoing issue with the dashboard that has been getting worse over time.small cracks started appearing on the dashboard about 3 years ago. The surface of the dashboard became shiny and sticky. The shininess causes reflections on the inside of the windshield which makes visibility difficult at times.over time the cracks have become bigger and more numerous and the dashboard has become more shiny and sticky. Parts of the dashboard are falling off exposing some kind of foam padding underneath.

When i purchased the car in 2010, it had some cracks above the glove compartment on the dashboard, which i took to have repaired at a cost of about $300.since then, the cracks keep opening, to the point where they will have a serious impact onthe resale of the car.i took the car to an auto body shop and have an estimate of $2200 to replace the entire dash.i took the car to a local toyota dealer and got an estimate of $2400!! to replace the entire dash.no help whatsoever.i did some research and found that many lexus automobiles have a similar problem and now learn that there are 73 complaints about the solara.it would be nice to know that someone is looking into the problem and perhaps that toyota will be forced to make appropriate repairs.

The dashboard has been cracking for about 6 months.it is a garaged automobile and when parked outside, there is always a factory (toyota) front sunscreen in use.this is totally unacceptable for a car that is well maintained and garaged.

Noticed hairline cracks in dash pad and related trim and the dash pad surface was becoming increasingly sticky to the touch.the glare of the sticky dash pad and the odor it emits...leaving a residue on the inside of the windows.we no longer drive the car for fear of the air bags that in the dash pad not working as planned.new improved part # is 55401-aa060-e0.

I am only owner of this toyota, it is garaged or has sun visors in place.i am experiencing the same cracked/cracking dash as others.there is absolutely no reason for this to occur.i too wonder what is going to happen if ever my air bags deploy.the cracking so far is on the passenger side dash.this started either in fall of 2012.i have never owned a car with airbags that had this problem.

The dash pad surface started to become dark in color and sticky to the touch in the sunshine.the dash pad material was very shiny and sticky to the touch, almost like a liquid.the glare from the shiny, sticky surface causes a glare on the inside of the windshield that makes the car dangerous to drive...and a greater concern are the airbags in the dash affected by this surface deterioration.i took the car to two local toyota dealerships seeking resolution and was told they have seem numerous instances of this and there was nothing they could do short of my paying approx. $1,500 to replace the part.contact with toyota customer care had them telling me i had done something to cause the situation.to-date the car (my wife's vehicle) sits inside, under a custom car cover and has less than 11,000 miles...we consider the car unsafe to drive.

The contact owns a 2006 toyota camry solara.the contact stated that the dashboard was gradually cracking and splitting.the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnosis. The technician stated that they were uncertain why the failures had occurred.the manufacturer was notified of the problem and did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not longer under warranty.the approximate failure mileage was 100,000. The vin was unavailable.

The dashboard has become gummy and cracking causing a bright glare that makes it impossible to drive on bright sunny days. Last week i was crossing over a bridge and almost went over the side.

The problem is the dashboard which has many cracks in it and the dashboard is melting and sticky. We bought the car used in november 2013 and is continuing to get worse with more deterioration. The safety issue is the dashboard is very shiny and the glare on the windshield makes it difficult to see when driving on a sunny day. The cracks in the dashboard are also a concern since they may interfere with the deployment of the dashboard air bags in an accident.

Black foam used in the a/c ducts becomes disloged and blows into the eyes of the operator, causing temporary eye sight impairment.

The dashboard has cracked in several areas and the issue seems to be getting worse daily. I've contacted toyota main headquarters complaint department several times and their response was that since the vehicle is out of warranty they will not fix it and it is my responsibility to correct the problem at my expense, i have heard and seen many reports that this is a systemic problem due to use of inferior partsused by toyota and other manufacturers. Class action suits have been initiatedto address this problem.i wish to formerly file my complaint with your agency as a point of record . Incidentally i had maintained a very expensive extended warranty policy for six years after my purchase and it seems strange that toyota wasn't aware of this problem prior to it's expiration.

Dash has cracks all over. Never been in an accident. One owner, well maintained, adult female owner.

We have a 2006 toyota solara which has a cracked dash board with a sticky substance oozing out.the caris garaged and in great condition otherwise.it was not in any accidents or were any unknown materials applied to the dash.i feel this is a recall item, especially since there are complaints around the globe with the toyota dashes.hopefully this will not effect the airbag components.please advise what my next steps should be.

I was heading into the sun and i could hardly see due to glare from the dashboard. When i stopped i put my hand on the dash and found it to be very sticky and cracked. The car is always in a garage and seldom in the sun.i have since learned that many other toyota owners have experienced the same problem.

Tl * the contact owns a 2006 toyota camry solara. The contact stated that the dashboard became cracked.

The dashboard of my 2006 solarais melting and sets off a high reflective glare on the windshield making it dangerous and difficult to see out of the windshield. The dash is sticky to touch - can not be wiped clean. The dash panel above the glove compartment is cracking which may effect air bag.i filed a complaint with toyota - case # withholding in 2013 but they said they were not aware of anyone else having this problem. Toyota sent me to local dealer. Dealer gave me the same answer even after i had seen thousands of similar complaints on internet. Nothing they could do and wanted $2200 to replace it.

On march 26,2020 i went to drive my car. The dashboard was cracked, sticky, and melted throughout.the next day i called priority toyota and was told (john service manager) that they would not fix it due to the warranty enhancement notification-ze6 which ended may 31, 2017. Also, i had owned the car for more than 10 years. He would replace it at my cost of approx. $2200 but he would provide an exact amount when i decided to fix it.then i explored the internet to see the scope of the problem.it can lead to visibility problems (glare) and problems with the dashboard airbags. Yesterday, april 7, 2020 i called the toyota customer assistance center 1-888-2709371 and spoke to randall who repeated what john had said, but added that my car was old and not worth much and i had gotten my monies worth out of it.i asked who i could call next and he said he was the end of the line.i was assigned a case #[xxx] but can't see to read it for myself.the car has remained in my garage since i saw the problem on march 26.it is getting worse. It was last driven on march 5 with no problems.i have a toyota rav 2017 from priority toyota, hampton, va 757 838-5000. Please help me if you can. *ln*dtinformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

Dashboard has visible cracks.car has only 38000 miles, always garaged.

Thank you.

Dashboard has become sticky and shiny. This has produced a glare making visibility an issue. Cleaning doesn't help.

Director of local aaa inspected car. They believe that there is no way that the bumper should have detached. I was fortunate that it fell off in my driveway and not on the fwy. Aaa requested that i file ntsb report, and insurance adjuster is examining the car and photographing the bumper, which was held together by two little plastic brackets.body shop says that some of the new toyotas have body defects - things that come loose.he is wondering if there is a packaging and shipping problem that causes the bumpers to get loose. He added 6 clips and brackets to the bumper.the new front bumper is now much more stable than the original back bumper.

The dash board is cracking and falling apart

My dashboard is very badly cracked.toyota says they have to replace the whole front dash at a cost of $1500.this defect will drastically affect the trade in value of this car.pictures can be provided.

Toyota issued an extended warranty for this very common sticky dashboard issue. It creates both a safety issue - the dashboard becomes so reflective that you cant see the road - and is disgusting.i was told by the dealer that i was on a waiting list... To date i never was told that they ere able to fix it and now they are saying the term is over for getting it repaired. They are clearly at fault. What do i do to get it repaired now?

My 2006 solara convertible has deep cracks all along the dash end to end which may affect the operability of the airbag.it's shiny, goofy, sticky which definitely affects visibility.i have no idea what else it affects.i thought it was caused by heat until i read the some 75 exactly identical complaints.toyota needs to recall the dash rather than ask we consumers to pay $2,400 to fix it.this was a $32,000 vehicle.bad enough that the adhesive around the back window dissolved, now this.it's undrivable, unsaleable and i only have 27000 miles on it

Cracked dashboard not sure if air bags will work

Complaint regarding sticky, shiny dashboard. I just purchased a 2006 toyota solara. Complaint is about the dashboard.(1) the stickyness of the dashboard - holds dust and grime and can not be cleaned, and (2) the sticky surface results in a shiny/reflective creating a safety hazard as it reflects glare both day and night on the windshield. This is a health and safety issue. I bought in oct 2017 and immediately took it to the toyota dealership near me. I was told due to the car manufacture date, i was not able to take advantage of the recall of the dashboard from toyota. I am told the dashboard part is $1,800 - wow! this is a health & safety issue and i demand my dashboard be replaced at no charge to me.

My dash is cracking and falling apart.what kind of engineering is this that the dash falls apart in such a short time in a car that is supposed to out last its competitors.

Dt:the consumer stated that after starting the engine there was a very high idle for an extended period of time.after the initial revving, the idle would reduce to a slower pace.this was computerized and could not be manually reduced.also, when pulling out the vehicle would hesitate and suddenly lurch forward.the consumer had taken the vehicle to the dealer who could not find the cause of theproblem and said that there was nothing they could do about it.no repairs had been made at this time.(12/08/05)the consumer wrote as the make/model/year "toyota solaro 2006."*sc

I own a 2006 solara sle 6cy. And the car hesitates when accelerating (such as merging into traffic).toyota has knowledge of this very problem along with the dealerships and all that needs to be done is a reflash.the problem has to do with the cars onboard computer.so when they put an update in the computer it is called reflashing.if enough people complain or if someone is killed they might find the time to take care of this.so when i and many others take the time to advise toyota and the dealerships, i feel they should take the time to address this problem.please help address this problem by filing a complaint and also by calling toyota.maybe we can finally get the hesitation problem taken care of. Thank you.jj

2006 toyota solara gas pedal got stuck and car crashed into the wall in my garage the car has not been fixed.

The contact owns a 2006 toyota solara. While driving 25 mph in traffic, the engine suddenly stalled. The vehicle restarted immediately but continued stalling. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer who stated that the throttle sensor and accelerator pedal assembly needed to be replaced. The manufacturer had not been notified. The failure mileage was 51,830.

2006 toyota solara convertible:ongoing issues.have contacted toyota dealer and no response.issue: car hesitates when accelerating - has an electronic lag in engine response.causes unreliable acceleration.no accidents - yet.has been an issue since picking up the car new.

I own a 2006 toyota solara 6 cyl. And the car has a problem when when you accelerate from a slow pace (as when you start to merge into a busy street or freeway) the car actually hesitates, there is a 1 1/2 to 2 second delay or lag, before the car actually kicks in and accelerates.i acctually hear and see the rpms rev up on one of the gauges, but the car is not accelerating or shifting as it should be.it is toyota's responsibility to do areflashing for a computer update!this is all that is needed to correct the problem and i demand that it be done before an accident happens!this problem is very dangerous and has the potential to create a deadly accident.i have taken my 2006 to two toyota dealerships in the phoenix area and have not gotten the help needed to take care of this serious matter.i am not pleading with nhtsa to help me with this matter and i want to bring this to the attention of the public, toyota, the dealerships, the government and everyone who can help with getting this matter taken care of.if i am in an accident because of this problem i will hold everyone involved responsible as i feel i am have told all those who can help everything i can and i get no response!i want this problem to be taken very serious and i expect to be heard and someone to contact me within a responable amount of time.i know in fact toyota is aware of this problem and has ordered the mechanics, service writters at the dealerships to withhold this information from customers.i also know that toyota has corrected the problem with the 2007 toyota camry.i alsoown a 2000 toyota solara 6 cylinder and this car has no such problem with it hesitating.i also drove a 2007 toyota camry, loaner car, that did not have this problem.

The "vsc" continues to come on which in turn causes the ck engine light to come on. There needs to be a recall on this issue. I have been researching it, and finding it a problem for so so many customers.

Throttle lag at low speed and from stop is inconsistent and has been the cause for several close calls when pulling into traffic. Manufacturer was informed; dealer investigated; states this is normal and nothing can be done, that lag is "acceptable". Some instances have been several seconds before actual throttle response. Driver has to use harder acceleration to compensate when this happens. This is a safety issue that toyota is aware of but declines to admit it is a problem. Driver is very concerned that this issue will be cause of an accident.

The contact owns a 2006 toyota solara.while driving approximately 5 mph, the brakes were applied and the vehicle surged forward until extreme pressure was applied to the brake pedal. The vehicle was shut off. The vehicle was not driven or diagnosed by a dealer. The failure and current mileages were 97,000.the vin was unavailable.

I have a 2006 solara convertible.the car sporadically hesitates when i push on the gas to accelerate.this is dangerous if you are driving on the highway, want to change lanes and there is delay or hesitation when the accelerator is pushed down to gain speed and there is no power.

The police and fire department were called to the scene where a police report was filed accordingly. There were no injuries and there was moderate damage to the home.

2006 toyota solara xle convertible passenger window exploded and shattered when passing a medium-sized truck on a smooth clean highway at 70 mph. No indication of object thrown by truck as window exploded shortly after the window was forward of the trucks front bumper. Normal highway width spacing with no convergence of the vehicles. All windows were up, convertible top secured up and air-conditioning on.window safety glass performed well as no long shards or sharp edges were formed.

These body style of this car produces several blind spots for the driver. Specifically, the issue is the elevated posterior windows that make backing up/driving in reverse as well as changing lanes difficult. I have had three incidents since acquiring this car in 2009. Each incident involved the corners of therear bumper and resulted in damage to the car.

Glare on windshield caused from melting dashboard, i was not able to see a person walking near the side of the road, the problem is getting worse and now think this will effect how the airbag might or might not work if activated, my car is dealer serviced to the manufactures requirements by toyota. My car is in 1st class condition apart from the dash which now has cracks 2mm in width and a sticky glaze.

My dashboard is sticky and is cracked from driver to passenger sides.also is cracked where airbags are. Dashboard is also shiney and suns reflections makes it dangerous driving. I am afraid airbags will inflate.

I own a 2006 toyota solara.low mileage.my entire dash board is cracking apart fore some unknown reason.the surface is becoming gummy and shiny.interferes with visiblility when driving.i took the vehicle to toyota and they said it had to do with the material used.they would have to replace the dash.this is absurd.i have seen almost 100 similar complaints on the internet.they need to recall and make good on a defaulty dashboard that is hazardous.

Black foam used in the a/c ducts becomes disloged and blows into the eyes of the operator, causing temporary eye sight impairment.

Twice black foam material emits from heating and air conditioning ducts staining clothing, and getting in eyes causing irritation and blurred vision. Second time this almost causedan accident. Vehicle has been to dealer twice problem has not been resolved.

The driver's side power window buttons suddenly began smoking and caught fire as i was driving home. The fire burnt a hole in the console.

The "vsc" continues to come on which in turn causes the ck engine light to come on. There needs to be a recall on this issue. I have been researching it, and finding it a problem for so so many customers.
