I had a very troubling issue with my 2000 toyota solara last week.the wiring to the inside fan blower motor overheated, was smoking badly and nearly started a fire in the cabin of the car. Luckily i stopped the car before things got out of hand.i had the wiring and the very badly corroded resistor replaced (p/n 20238) at a cost to me of $254.07.does nhtsa have this issue on record as a safety recall?
Vehicle had a cracked battery that caused acid to leak all over the engine and corroded the coolant reservoir.

Am experiencing sludge build up in the engine of my 2000 toyota camry solara.this vehicle was a previously owned when i purchased it on march 17, 2016.at time of purchase i requested a carfax report.my choice to purchase was made upon report details i.e. Repair & maintenance records, including routine oil changes.the carfax report specified all preventative maintenance had been applied to this vehicle and was up to date.there were no known manufacture recalls and/or issues on this vehicle.at the time of purchase i was unaware of any troublesome issues on this make & model, nor with its engine model.after my own extensive research before shopping for my 2nd preowned toyota i never did come across any such information regarding problems/recalls & would have never made this purchase.i have always been a toyota fan & am very displeased with the engine sludge problems i later discovered and also the fact that the dealership which sold me this preowned toyota covered up & provided me with a false carfax report.i have my proof of routine oil changes + the carfax report showing all previous owners(2) also made routine oil changes.i feel i am a victim of a manufactures default in this engine model.i have owned my preowned toyota for only 5 months and for the last 2 months i have had it sitting in my driveway due to ongoing engine troubles i am unable to tend to financially & do not wish to do any further damage to it.i am greatly disappointed.[xxx] 'information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Head gasket, loses in camshaft.
Engine oil has a tendancy to get milky after 2,000 miles from previous oil change.steps taken to avoid this problem were as follows: 1. Oil changes to semi synthetic or all synthetic oil. 2. Change oil & filter at 2,000 mile intervals at sustained temperatures below freezing. 3. Driving habits to avoid a series of short trips, by schudling 30-45 minute highway run weekly. ( when ever possible) i was alarmed by the re-occuring look of the oil and the dirty condition under the oil filler cap ( engine not hot enough, long enough?) .i took addition time to clean up the dirty appearence and change the oil earlier than 2,000 until the condition normalized.extended runs on the highway also helped the condition of the oil over the 2,000 mile interval. Especially with the harsh 2002/2003 winter in the northeast us.

I've had lots of migraine headaches over the past 5 months. When i mentioned to a mechanic he said it was probably due to the sulfur dioxide poisoning me.

Seat belt fit across the driver neck
Front passenger seatbelt has broken three times in two months.belt jams when passenger leans forward while wearing the belt (the belt then hangs lose).belt seems to twist or fold over at the point where it comes out of the side of the car.speed during first incident - about 40 mph and braking, second incident 55 mph, third incident 0 mph (at a stop light).dealer initially replaced the belt, but only "untwisted" it the second and third times.service tech at dealership tells me it's a "design flaw" and is going to keep happening if i'm not "careful" with the seatbelt.service dept say their hands are tied, can't do anything other than fix it when it does break - and they say it will probably will break again.they recommended that i call toyota customer relations in ca - they simply made a report and told me to work the problem out with my dealership.i'm very concerned that the seatbelt will fail during an accident.
Consumer'sshoulder belt twists & does not lay straight.vehicle has a safety feature that retracts the seatbelts back if an accident occurred. Toyota basically replied that's the way it was designed.theconsumer said that seat belt wasuncomfortable & unsafe.
The drivers side seat rocks when accelerating, and toyota has a tbs for the 1999 model, but it doesnt cover my car, made in 9/99. They refuse to replace or fix the rocking chair, and i feel that it will eventually fail while driving. Please help with this problem.
While driving the head rest caused poor visibility.the head rest can not be removed while driving.the driver took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection.the mechanic informed the driver that the head rest are in compliance with this vehicle.*sc
The contact owns a 2000 toyota camry solara. While driving 20 mph and approaching a stop light, the brakes failed and the contact rear ended the preceding vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained chest injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed. The front end of the vehicle was repaired. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 150,000.
2000 toyota solara sle conv/2dr. I have complained about my brakes for years. They say nothing is wrong with them. But there is. Sometimes i can't stop/slow down i feel i have no brakes. Or could it be the gas pedal. I have different floor mats in the vehicle but it still does it. It happens once in awhile. I let a friend drive it for awhile and it happened to him. I tell people if something happens to me in my vehicle it would be because of no brakes.
Another vehicle cut in front of me and slammed on the brakes, i also applied my brakes. The brakes did not stop the vehicle and i hit the highway divider. The rear hub assembly broke off as a result of the accident. The front left quarter panel was heavily damaged. I have reported the brake problems multiple times to the dealer and each time was told that the brakes are "in spec". However, another repair facility found that the master cylinder push rod was too long causing excessive pressure required to stop the car.
Consumer was attempting to park the vehicle in a parking lot, pressed the brakes, and vehicle jumped the curb and collided with a tree.there were no injuries, nor was there a police report.*mr

2000 toyota solora with 28,000 miles (just out of warranty) purchased new by me.power brake assist unit filed and had to be replaced.advised that a number of those have required replacement.manufacturer declined reimbursement.
Power brake assist unit failed at 27,400 miles.advised a number of these units have been requested for replacement.contacted toyoto and they refused to cover.had the failure of this part caused a serious accident resulting in serious injury or death, i am certain toyoto would take a different position.
This item is not a total failure yet but is headed in that direction.the power steering hose is leaking fluid where it joins the rack and pinion steering assembly.when the fluid all leaks out i will have no power assist in mysteering and it could come at any moment.my local toyota dealer ( del toyota in thorndale, pa) reported this problem to me while this car was being serviced for an oil change.i have not had it repaired yet.a neighbor of mine told me that he experienced the same problem with his toyota avalon which was a couple of years older than my car. I am reporting this problem because maybe toyotas in my age region are also experiencing this same problem and toyota is not admitting to a component weakness in the power steering area and might eventually agree to fix it.i have noticed recalls of cars up to around 10-15 years oldwhere the problems manifest themselves over extended time periods.
While driving at night time windshieldbecomehazy and wasobstructing the driver's view.dealershipinspected vehicle several times, andindicated to the consumer that the problem was vinyl out gassy.the consumer indicated that there is a haze on the inside of the vehicle's windshield.the consumer has cleaned the windows but the haze reappears.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who indicated that the problem was vinyl out gases per toyota tech assistance.the dealer also indicated that the problemcould last from 6 months to 1 year and couldn't be corrected.the haze impairs the consumer vision especially at dusk and at night.the consumer also believes this problem is a health issue and drives with the convertible top down.
Hood latch bracket broke.
Driver and passenger door windows hit top of door frame when attempting to close the door, window must be partially down in order for the door to close properly.
Passenger door window would occasionally hit the door frame when being closed, causing a violent shake and loud hitting noise. Had to bring to the dealer twice before i could get it fixed.
