Not sure. Wife was driving 2015 4runner into parking lot at low speed and it jumped a tree. Not at all saying it is a toyota issue - just to be on safe side reporting. Air bags did not deploy. Understanding is it just ended up there when she was parking. Epic photo - all the same - worth documenting. She advised she was stopped or just stopped prior to the tree-climb. Pax side was daughter and taking her in for medical today due to complaints of pain and weakness. Police came but did not issue report.

Needed to use my horn when someone drifted into my lane on the interstate. The horn did not work. I could not honk to inform that driver to stay in his/her lane. Afterwhich,i took it to my toyota dealer. They diagnosed and discovered the spiral cable had an open circuit. They replaced the spiral cable assembly. From what i remember they told me this cable assembly carried wiring for cruise control, air bags, horn and something else.i do not recall the fourth item.

Takata recall- called to make appointment to have this issue resolved and the parts to fix recall are on backorder- this is unacceptable
Takata recall:conflicting information for determining if vehicle is subject to recall.called auto airbag settlement center and they said aforementioned vehicle was subject to recall and dealers may not yet be aware or have info to call in vehicle.called dealer and service rep. Indicated they had not notice my vehicle was subject to recall and they could do nothing.this website did not recognize my vin number when put in at the start, calling my vin entry as invalid.within this claim form it recognized my vin number as valid!?i am unable to determine if vehicle is subject to recall and no notice has been sent to dealer.meanwhile my family may be subject to serious injury or worse because i am unable to determine if it will be recalled, and when.the whole process overlooks the fact that we do not have total control over the actions of other drivers, and may become involved in an accident.the recall process again represent the concern for the companies involved and not for the safety of the individuals.
Vehicle is brand new with 600 miles on it. Wife driving at speed of 40 mph, major side impact damage with over $9000 damage and side air bags did not deploy.. Wondering why??
Received a recall on airbags
The contact owns a 2015 toyota 4runner. The contact stated that he was unable to lock and unlock the passenger's side door. The contact contacted kerry toyota service florence (6050 hopeful church rd, florence, ky 41042; (859) 371-1518) and the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective passenger's side lock actuator. The contact was informed that the lock actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was referred to the nhtsa for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
The lock actuator motors on 4 out of 5 doors have stopped working. Only the drivers and rear door have exterior key entry, this dramatically inhibits the access to the back and front passenger seats in the event of an emergency.
2015 toyota 4runner - door lock actuators. At around 36,000 miles the rear driver's side door actuator began to fail intermittently. Within a couple months it failed completely and the rear passenger door lock actuator began to display the same problems. At 40,000 mileages all of the door lock actuators have failed. This is a non-problem and a major safety issue. It is also very expensive to repair.
Entune radio/navigation system continually crashes and stalls while driving causing safety hazard if driver has to continually reset the radio power while driving.this usually happens more so when the navigation system is engaged. It will crash out of no where, use to just happen with instructions were being given through the speaker now its random. Happens also when with just music playing, will be unable to change stations or control volume with buttons or nobs.this seems to be happening to a large amount of customers who have no way of solving the issue.might be need for safety recall as people may need to continually reset or try to figure out whats wrong while driving.other sites forums with customers complaining about issue; http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/177008-entune-trouble-lets-get-fixed-2.htmlhttp://www.toyotanation.com/forum/333-3rd-generation-2014/873962-entune-nav-radio-rebooting-s-own.htmlhttp://toyota-entune.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2965https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/updated-am-i-the-only-one-with-this-issue-media-system-restarting-without-reason.397207/
Rodent chewed through injector 3 wire. 4 days later, after i paid for the first repair...several other wires were chewed through. The previous connector repaired with "rodent deterrent tape" was not damaged.
The contact owns a 2015 toyota 4runner. While driving in the left lane at approximately 70 mph, the vehicle lost power. The contact stated that the vehicle seized and was unable to be moved. The engine was still running, but the vehicle would not accelerate. All the indicators on the instrument panel illuminated at the time of the failure. Modern toyota (3178 peters creek pkwy, winston-salem, nc 27127) diagnosed the vehicle, but the cause of the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 28,000.
Both the driver side door and passenger side door do not open when when remotely activated.they also cannot be locked remotely. I have no way of opening the passenger side door from the outside.both doors have to be manually opened.the driver side can be opened by the key, but the passenger side needs to be opened inside the passenger door..this is a safety issue especially when my wife takes the car. It is dangerous that she cannot enter the car in a timely manner or even lock the car.
The front passenger side door will not lock or unlock. I am sure you can understand the safety hazards with this issue. This door will not lock or unlock with key fob or with thelocking system inside the car.
The door lock actuators fail at an alarming rate.my driver side door lock actuator failed after only 50,000 miles.this prevents the car door from locking, which is a safety concern during a crash or just to prevent forced entry.
Door actuator locking out driver, to where key doesn't even work. Either the door will not lock, or unlock.the fob is fine and sends the signal as you can here the actuator trying to move. And when it doesn't unlock, you can't even unlock the door with the key. I would think this would be a safety issue.i've read a number of complaints on a variety of sites such as below, that it is a known issue? if it's a known issue, why isn't there some kind of safety recall? suppose all of the actuators didn't work and there was a kid in the car.this would be the third of 4 bad actuators, so that is a possibility.https://www.carcomplaints.com/toyota/4runner/2014/electrical/auto_door_locks_not_working.shtml
Multiple times now while driving under normal conditions we have experienced the instrument panel going rogue.abs, vsc, gas, check engine, all lights will randomly come on.the scary part is this most recent time it jumped the speedometer way up as well.any help would be greatly appreciated!
When the vehicle is put in reverse the computer screen rear view camera image becomes blury, the image shakes rapidly and static with neon lines would appear distorting the camera footage. It made the rear camera screen view unusable and unreliable. This happened off and on for over 2 years and during each service i would ask toyota of san luis obispo, ca to diagnose and fix the problem. They would tell me they were not able to duplicate the problem and that they updated the computer chip and it "should be good". This did not resolve the problem. I was able to video tape the problem and showed the video to the service manager. He had me send him my video and said he needed to talk to corporate. After 2 months and multiple phone calls to him he said they had seen this problem in other vehicles at other dealerships and corporate approved him to replace the computer free of charge since my concerns had been documented at many service intervals while the vehicle was still under warranty. I am very disappointed in how long it took toyota of san luis obispo, ca to acknowledge the problem and agree to do the repair. I had to get very assertive and persistent in order to get them to listen to my concerns and fix the problem. I wanted to document this problem in case anyone else may have the same issues.
The 4runner's electrical system shuts down completely while driving; as if someone was suddently turned the car off while driving then turned it back on.all dash lights, instrumentation, headlights, radio, etc... Shut down and then it restarts automatically shortly thereafter.this happens multiple times daily. It occurs both while the car is in park or reverse or driving usually below 555mph since much of my commute is city vs. Highway. It started with the radio head unit only then the issue has progressed to the entire electrical system.this should be investigated as this is a major safety issue and could lead to injury.

I had 20,000 miles and bought the veichle brand new and went to leave work and my veichle was struggling to stay going and my check engine light was flashining. When i'd go to reverse the vehicle would struggle and act like it was going to die. I had to go 20mph on the side roads about 15 miles to the dealer. The rpm shouldn't shift. It was caused by a mouse i guess? since they use soy base and see this a lot. So fustrating when you pay $38,000 for a veichle. I'd much rather drive my older 2010 honda that never had an issue with so called a mouse. They of course wouldn't cover it. To top it off i had a major oil leak at 19,000 miles causing about $6,000 worth of damage. Which was the factory's fault they said. It was covered by warrenty, but still it's ridiculous. I bought the car new. With 1 mile on it, fresh off the truck. As of right now i have no faith in toyota. I'm afraid my veichle will break down on me. Which i shouldn't have to feel when i buy a new car. So disappointed in toyota. Something needs to be done.
I have a 2015 4runner (vin: [xxx]) i purchased brand new. It currently has less than 50k miles on it. A few weeks ago it started periodically going into ?limp? mode while driving at highway speeds. My two toddlers were in the vehicle the first time this happened; i almost lost control since the ?tractional control? disabled concurrently. I took the vehicle to multiple mechanics who confirmed the diagnostic code p2445 (secondary air injection pump). I was shocked to hear this because the vehicle is relatively new and exceptionally well maintained. I looked online and the failure of this component appears to be a systemic issue with toyota 4runners and tacomas. The fact that this component failed after a short duration in such a sudden and violent way is very dangerous. I submitted a formal complaint to toyota and they denied knowledge of this issues despite hundreds of folks reporting identical problems on their 4runners & tacomas. For a nominal fee per vehicle toyota could fix this issue, which also has environmental implications, but instead they are being disingenuous and denying this major systemic safety hazard. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The 4runner hesitates at 40mph and 60mph when trying to coast/maintain speed with slight pressure on the gas pedal. At other speeds or while accelerating at 40/60mph there is no hesitation. I took it to the dealership, but they said they can't replicate the problem. It is still happening though.
My husbandparked the car ona hill in front of a gas station and i stayed in the car sitting on the passenger seat and it just rolled down the hill, caused an accident to a parked car getting gas, i jumped out of the car as it rolled towards a gas pump , slammed on to pump guard. Thankfully no one was hurt but me when i jumped out of the car.police report filed

Approaching stop lite (40mph.) applying brakes, accelerator went up to 3000 rpm,s with brakes applied.pumped brakes finally rpms came down.there is nothing blocking accelerator(floor mat). Separate incident same day backing out of parking spot went into traction control mode with brakes vibrating and clicking on dry pavement.

I contacted nhtsa but haven't heard back. It's been over 2 months now and nothing from toyota about the recall.
My children and i almost died twice! 4 runner almost caused serious injury or death. 9/24/20, 6:15 pmish, vehicle in motion for approximately over an hour, 70mph cruise control set, beginning to climb up a large mountain westbound interstate 8. Engine hesitates/stalls briefly, steering became difficult, car shuddered, was difficult to maintain control of vehicle, only lasted seconds.at a slower speed engine back up and all was fine, assumed it was not a major issue.continued driving the vehicle for the next two days at same higher speeds and for long periods of time. 9/26/20, around 6:30 pm, vehicle in motion for over an hour, about 70mph flow of traffic, not in cruise control, flat road, eastbound interstate 8, left lane of 4 lanes of traffic.engine stalls/hesitates for about 10 long seconds, loss of power steering, almost ran into barricade on left, almost ran into car on right, luckily no one behind us.saw blackish smoke out rearview mirror. Loud sounds, shaking and grinding. After about 10 seconds and crying/screaming kids, engine no longer stalled and was able to control vehicle to turn on hazards. We are lucky to be alive! safety exited, contacted toyota service to inform them. Vehicle towed 161 miles to dealership, they see nothing wrong with the vehicle and were ready to release it to us.back story, most all service performed by toyota dealership and did what was suggested. 8/31/20 toyota poway installed fuel pump safety recall (prior to this i had no issue, this was preventative) a week later engine light on, alexander toyota, finds my safety recalled part was incorrectly secured/installed. They fixed it and returned the car.since the fuel pump safety recall part was improperly installed we are now experiencing engine hesitation/stalls, our vehicle is unsafe can cause serious injury of death.
Toyota came out with recall 1-13-2020 (nhtsa recall number 20v012) and as of 5-29-2020, they still claim that no remedy is available. What is a timely period to wait?*dt
The fuel pump failed during driving which was described in a recall but toyota will not fix or reimburse the repair

About 4-5 times per year for the past 4 years my vehicle will hesttate or stall for 3-4 seconds when trying to accelerate after stopping at a red light or stop sign. This happens intermittently, at no regular sequence, and without warning of any kind. I have not received a letter from the manufacturer about a recall, but the nhtsa informed me that a fuel pump recall notice was made public on january 20, 2020. I have contacted my local dealer on two occasions, but they tell me the same thing each time, that i need to wait on a letter from the manufacturer telling me that they will remedy the situation.as of this date, 4/23/2020, i have not received such a letter, and the nhtsa says the same thing. My understanding is that the manufacturer has to send such a remedy letter within 60 days of the public notification, and that time period has expired. It seems that the problemwith my vehicle could very well be the fuel pump needing to be replaced.can you pursue the manufacturer to issue their remedy letter before a serious accident occurs?

I came home from work and reversed my 4runner into my garage as i normally do. The next morning, my 4runner starts and the engine sounds normal but it won't move when i shift the gear from park to drive. I stepped on the gas while leaving the gear in drive, the rpm moves but the 4runner stayed in the same spot.
Found water in the add actuator. 4runner was 2k miles out of warranty when the issue came up. 4wd indicator light would blink endlessly. Could not make it up the muddy road to my house because the 4wd would not engage. I was unable to use any of the 4wd functions. Some days it would turn off traction control and the abs light would come on. I took it to 2 toyota dealerships both wanted 360$ just to look at it and there was no guarantee they could give it back to me. I refused being that they wanted to remove the main computer and master brake cylinder. In the end i dug into it myself and replaced the actuator. When i disassembled the old actuator i found that a 32ra finish was not held on the housing in my line of work that's basic standards for oring seats. I took the part back to the dealer and was told the part is not made by toyota so they couldn't warranty it. See photo for how the actuator looked when opened.

The front passenger side seat belt failed to retract causing the contact to lunge forward.the air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The passenger sustained face, neck, shoulder, and head injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The front driver seat plastic skirting clips broke causing the seat skirting to twist upward against the drivers leg. Seems like a design flaw where the power seat will move more than the plastic clips can handle resulting in wear then broken clips. Toyota of san luis obispo, ca replaced the skirting while the vehicle while was under warranty. One month later the clips broke again. Toyota of san luis obispo, ca told me there was no fix for this and it would just continue to happen and a second replacement would not be approved.
Rear seat cover has repeatedly come loose. Has been returned to the dealer four times for repair but they have been unable to fix / resolve this issue. Seat cover is made of the "soft tex" simulated leather and held in place with j hooks. Last service was on 6/13/16 invoice tocs486186 - frank toyota, national city, ca
Brakes are not adequate for model.rotors warp around 15k and keep warping when replaced or resurfaced.braking is not solid, is slow, and steering wheel shake results when warping occurs.brakes do not adequately grab.brakes also are slow to react with abs on corners, make sounds and brakes are substandard for model.all of this has happened under at 15k and 23k in my car.dealer said it''s a known issue and tells people to downshift (in an automatic!) instead of brake.many complaints in internet formula regarding the same.people could get seriously hurt with these issues.needs to be recalled for brakes and a stronger braking system issued.
While braking aggressively on a dry street in a straight line, the abs system kicked in for a brief second and then it released the brakes all together - resulting in complete loss of all braking capability.braking capability was restored after the pedals was released all together and re applied. This happened twice over the past 6 months.on 2017/10/13 i took the vehicle in for a comprehensive inspection of the braking system by a toyota authorized dealer but they had not identified any faults and claim the system is operating as expected.
At 20,202 the suv's steering wheel would shake when brakes were applied. The dealer noted that the rotors were warped, glazed and had heat spots. Vehicle qualified for replacement brakes under warranty, replaced brake pads and rotors front only. Since repair, the front wheel started to shake again- dealer said to get new tires to solve problem. Got new tires at ~47,000. Problem still existed, and took to dealer for regular service and to address brake pulsation when applying pedal.the dealer, northridge toyota, declared that "the pulsation is a wear or driving pattern issue" refusing to fix this obviously defective braking system. Recommending the same rotor and pad replacement at a cost of over $660.00. Many documented complaints of this same problem on this nhtsa website.

Has a steering wheel shimmy between 60-70 mph, causing premature wear on tires. Just bought 80k mile warranty tires are they are completely bald at 20k miles even after being rotated every 5k miles, balances, and alignments. Unable to keep vehicle aligned and in balance no matter how soon i have it done after just having it done (once in august and then again immediately in september. Body shop advising that the weld on the rear axle is incorrect causing this issue. Attempted to speak with toyota warsaw, they aren't getting back to me as they said they would, called corporate 800 number and spoke to a rude female who was unwilling to help me. Was told that i had already been driving on unsafe tread, that what would another week hurt? can't buy new tires until issue is fixed because the tires will just prematurely wear again.
I have a new 4runner that i was not pleased with how it was handling.i took it into an independent wheel alignment shop to get an objective opinion.the results are included in the attached document.10 out of 14 of the settings were out of specification. I paid to have these items fixed.my car now tracks better.corners better and has a more stable ride. These settings were so bad i now realize that i was in car that was not as safe as it should have been.i have submitted this attachment to toyota usa and the dealer and the only response has been they will file my complaint.i am amazed that toyota did not consider this a manufacturing defect that they should remedy as part of a new car sale.
Clock spring in steering wheel not working.no horn, no airbag .i called toyota 1-800-331-4331 talked to dominic he said they can not do anything for me.
The contact owns a 2015 toyota 4runner. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle vibrated and the steering wheel shook and made a chattering noise. The tires were replaced because the contact thought they were the cause of the failure; however, the failure continued. The dealer was notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 27,000.
Within a few weeks both the driver and passenger door actuator motors failed. This prevented the vehicle from automatically locking the doors when placed in drive or reverse. This also prevented being able to lock and unlock each door using the remote or the lock button inside the vehicle. The dealer indicated that this is a common concern for the vehicle. Each repair ran approximately $500.00 each. The doors not automatically locking presents a safety concern when the vehicle is moving. It would also make you more susceptible to having items stolen or car jacking. This occurred whether the vehicle was moving or not.
Purchased new a 2015 toyota 4runner trail premium. Since new it has a horrible hood shaking / vibration. Have taken back to the dealership and they say the hood metal is too thin and that it is this way to save weight and fold in an accident. It shakes and vibrated up and down so much i can only imagine the paint will start cracking and or have the hood vibrate off. I've owned many vehicles, and never had a hood shake like this. Never the less to have a dealership say it is manufacturer defect but nothing can be done about it. Pretty upset i paid $41,000 for a vehicle that is not correct right off the factor line. Waiting for hood to fly up and cause me to not see road and have accident or worse.
Thsi is a text from nhtsait follks
I was loading items into the rear cargo area of my 2015 4runner which was parked in a parking lot when the struts supporting the rear hatch door suddenly failed causing the heavy door to come crashing down on my head and neck, knocking me to the ground with thankfully minor injury to my head and neck.
At almost all speeds an especially at highway speeds my hood bounces up and down / flexes excessively like its going to rip off the car.i have had 12 cars in my life and i have never seen this before.the hood is not properly supported in the middle.the hood bouncing up and down constantly i am waiting for something to break due to excessive vibration and the hood to fly off.
My vehicle is a 2015 toyota 4runner trail premium which i purchased new in sept. 2015. As described in two other complaints, the area around and including the scoop feature on the center of the engine hood vibrates quite noticeably at speed and has since new. I never had this problem on my previous 2000 4runner sr5, so i can only guess that the manufacturer is using a thinner and flimsier metal. While this might be done to save weight, it sure makes me feel like i'm driving a poorly made and engineered vehicle. Toyota needs to address and fix this issue on future 4runner models. I just hope that this vibration doesn't cause any physical damage to the hood or the paint. If it does in the coming years, i'll be back to file another complaint on this model.
This is a toyota limited model that has a proprietary xreas suspension.this car has been regularly serviced at the intervals recommended by toyota at their dealership.at approximately 55,000 miles the service tech found that all four struts were leaking and required $4,500 to repair and replace.a visit to a second dealership confirmed the diagnostic outcome provided by the first dealer.i contacted toyota who stated the warranty had lapsed and expressed no desire to investigate why at 55,000 the suspension system seals at all four wheels would fail.conversations with other owners of the same make and model outlined similar experiences.the suspension became a serious safety issue because it became so soft certain emergency maneuvers would likely result in loss of control.when i had the system replaced i directed that all the removed parts be returned to me and i have them saved for possible inspection.i also have photos of the struts taken during the original inspection.i believe this occurred because the suspension was poorly designed and defective.toyota seemed to possibly address this in technical service bulletin #t-sb-0145-11.i believe toyota should be held responsible for poor design and provide free repair and replacement to its product owners.
There is a clunking sound coming from the front of the vehicle, sounds like suspension... I mentioned it to the tech at the 5000 mile check, and the 15000 mile check. They could not find the cause.it is only present when the temps are below about 40 f or so. It is heard when the vehicle goes over small bumps at a low speed. Even more pronounced on a gravel road.
I have had 3 sets of tires on my 4runner and each set has worn down prematurly despite purchasing good quality tires with a 60k mile warranty. I have the tires rotated, balanced and aligned at the required service intervals and as needed. The vehicle does not stay aligned very long. I even went tomultiple tire shops to get different opinions. I've been told by multiple tire shops that the 4runners are difficult to adjust and do not hold an alignment. Each set of 60k warranty tires only lasted 30k miles and i was not able to get any replacement tires. The alignment problem causes premature tire wear, shaking in the steering wheel and an overall rough ride. When i drive over 6ok miles per hour the shake and rough ride is very uncomfortable and disappointing in such an expensive vehicle.
I'm writing you today in the hopes that you can investigate and create a recall for toyota's x-reas suspension system.i purchased a brand new 2015 limited 4runner four years ago. On november 29th, 2019 i had my 4runner serviced at a toyota service center for a 40,000 mile check up. After the check up i was told that both front struts needed to be replaced and due to the design (both front struts being connected to both rear shocks) the entire x-reas suspension system needed to be replaced. (total cost before realignment and tax = $2,468.00.) x-reas comes standard on the limited toyota 4runner and is a hydraulic system that cannot be serviced. The x-reas system on my 4runner started leaking with only 38,977 miles of city and freeway driving with absolutely no off roading. I feel that this is incredibly premature and a defective design for a suspension that is supposedly built to withstand rugged off roading. After doing some research online, i have found that i am not the only one that has been faced with x-reas suspension system problems. The following link is a 4runner forum with truck owners searching for advice and help on what seems to be a trend.https://www.4runners.com/threads/4runner-limited-buyer-beware-x-reas-suspension-fails.7894/the toyota service dept rep also informed me that his colleagues have had other customers complain about similar problems with their x-reas system.fortunately i purchased an extended warranty. I will not be financially responsible for having a new x-reas system installed.i asked about having toyota's standard coil suspension installed instead but my warranty only covers originally installed parts. When my warranty expires in 2 years i will be liable for all future suspension failures. My truck is only 4 years old.i am worried that in 4 years (or sooner) the x-reas system will fail again. Please help!
The lock actuator motors on 4 out of 5 doors have stopped working. Only the drivers and rear door have exterior key entry, this dramatically inhibits the access to the back and front passenger seats in the event of an emergency.
The lock on driver side worked erratically, put in shop cost over $600. Weeks later passenger side would not open with remote key. Installed myself $300, this should not happen on a car with 40,000 miles. The concern is in an emergency i would have a difficut time removing a person from the vehicle . The part in both cases was the door actuator.
The driver door actuator stopped working. $700 to fix. Apparently they all will go at some time. Cost will be $2800.00! apparently this is an extremely common problem that toyota is aware of. Please force a recall!
The contact owns a 2015 toyota 4runner. While operating the vehicle, a mildew odor was present inside the vehicle and the occupants became ill. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the odor was caused by mold coming from the vents. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 2,000.
I purchased a toyota 2015 4runner for my 19 year old daughter at serra toyota in birmingham,al on 3/15/17. At the time of purchase i asked the salesman if the car had takata airbags. I was told - no that it did not have these airbags. I knew to ask this question because our honda 2011 crv had them as well as our 2010 lincoln mkx. I have received 2 legal notices for owners of vehicles with takata airbags concerning my daughter's toyota 4runer. I typed in my daughter's vin number on the web site www.airbagrecall.com and it said active recall on my daughter's vehicle. It said recall incomplete on car. Manufacturer recall # 14v828. Summary set 014. I don't understand how a dealership could sell a car to a 19 year old that has safety issues. She drives it back and forth to college in va. Please check on the status of her car for me. When buying her car, all that i cared about was the safety of it. I will be extremely upset if her 2015 toyota 4 runner had recall issues that had not been taken care of before i purchased it. I will be furious if it has takata airbags. It was serviced at the dealership on 10/14/17. At that time i asked a person in the service department at serra toyota if it had takata and i didn't get an answer.
1st incident - reversing into the driveway at home, wanted to pull up some so change the gear to drive and the car continued to reverse backwards for a couple of feet. Luckily i was able to hit the brakes and stop the car and it eventually started driving forward. No crash occurred this time2nd incident - 495 miles on the car on 3/21/15 reversing into the driveway at home, wanted to pull up some to straighten out the car so changed the gear to drive and the car continued to reverse backwards at least 3-4 feet and crashed into the house. Caused damage to the car and house. Luckily no one was injured.
Purchased a 2015 in dec. 2014.. In 2015 (not sure of the first date but know it was when going to granddaughter's soccer game) we took a trip using the navigation system and radio. They system stopped for about 4 seconds and started again but had to reenter the navigation. We asked about it and was told it was like a cell phone that stops in some hot spots. It did not happen a lot at first but each time we were told it was a hot spot. The problem kept getting worse. We inquired and was told service would do a diagnostics on it but a cost. We were not willing to pay over $100 to check the problem. And now it is 2018 and we are checking on the internet seeing that it is not hot spots but a problem with the system. Only our warranty is out as of dec. 2017. 2 months.. It is a distracting when it goes out while driving so we have to be very careful not to get distracted. We take a map and print outs from google drive to help when it goes out.as per reference number: tsb#5b0035-16... Many toyota vehicles have the same problem...we have been in contact with toyota headquarters...#1802282446...they will not do anything to help... Even though this is an on going problem in their product on several vehicles. Thought toyota was better than this...
Takata recall and hood. These recalls have not been addressed. Unable to get a hold of the dealership.
Multiple times now while driving under normal conditions we have experienced the instrument panel going rogue.abs, vsc, gas, check engine, all lights will randomly come on.the scary part is this most recent time it jumped the speedometer way up as well.any help would be greatly appreciated!
When accelerating through a turn from a stop, if for any reason you lift off the accelerator pedal and then reapply pressure to the accelerator pedal, no acceleration takes place.it is if you are not pressing the accelerator at all, no matter how hard you press.this has almost resulted in several collisions because the car is no longer accelerating and is just coasting.to correct this condition, you have to completely left your foot off the accelerator and reapply pressure.sometimes you have to do this more than once.very dangerous.i reported this to my toyota service rep, and he said his does the same thing.it could be the throttle position sensor, or four wheel drive software, or ...

My fiance was driving our daughter to preschool.she was pulling into a parking space to her right.she stopped for some pedestrians right before pulling in.took her foot off the brake and the car suddenly accelerated into the fence in front of the parking space.

The contact owns a 2015 toyota 4runner. While driving approximately 60 mph, a loud abnormal noise emitted from the vehicle. The contact had to pull over to the side of the road. After inspecting the vehicle, it was discovered that the sun roof shattered. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that a rock caused the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,500.updated 09/10/15*lj updated 11/09/2017
