The contact owns a 2014 toyota 4runner. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v005000 (air bags). The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Fred haas toyota world (20400 interstate 45 n, spring, tx 77373, (281) 297-7000) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Now when we shut off the vehicle the passenger air bag warning light continuously keeps flashing.when key is on it doesn't flash.

"takata recall"over 6 weeks waiting for parts or ability for dealer to repair. Completely unacceptable time for safety issue on a car i use daily.

Takata recall - i was in a serious wreck and my air bags never deplyed

Curtain shieldairbagsi have received 2 recalls on this car both times i callthe toyota dealer and they say they do not have the parts to fix it

Navigation/stereo/cd player will lock up then reboot itself. If i'm in the vehicle for at least an hour, it will lockup then reboot itself 3-4 times within that hour. It's very annoying and aggravating. It doesn't matter if i'm listening to a cd or radio station or pandora, or if i'm moving or sitting still, it will lock up for several seconds then reboot. This started happening around 20,000 miles and has only gotten worse. Since i live over an hour from the nearest toyota dealership, i have only called them but never took it by there. According to gray daniels toyota, this wasn't covered under my warranty. This should be a recall. It seems to be a cheap touchscreen stereo system. Also, my back speakers are busted. I do not listen to loud music either. The whole stereo system needs replacing or upgraded. I'm seriously thinking about trading my 4runner. I am very disappointed in this vehicle especially the interior. Overall not pleased with the 4runner.

All 4 door locks failed to work within the first year of purchase.this is a safety concern as the child locks no longer work. A child can exit the vehicle while it is in motion.

The door lock actuator has failed on every door in my car. I've had them fixed but now the warranty is expired.

The door locks on my 4runner have stopped working. They will not work with the key fob or when you use the button inside the vehicle. You have to manually flip the lock to lock and unlock that door. First it was the driver door that went out then the rear right, and now the passenger side door. You can open the driver door with the key from the outside, but the other 2 doors must be unlocked my manually flipping the lock by hand. The driver's door went out right outside of the warranty and the other 2 followed shortly after. All within 53,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2014 toyota 4runner. The contact stated that technical service bulletin number: 0278-17i was issued regarding the automatic running boards. The bulletin indicated that the running boards may fully deploy, but then retract when stepped on or retract on their own. The failure was identified on the running board's computer sensor. The contact stated that, due to the sensor, the running boards would retract before they were even accessed. The contact called herb chambers toyota of boston (32 brighton ave, boston, ma 02134, (617) 787-1700) to inquire if they would pay for the repair. The dealer stated that the contact would still have to pay for the repairs. The manufacturer sent an inspector to the dealer and it was determined that the vehicle was no longer under warranty; therefore, the contact would have to pay for the repairs. The dealer admitted that the contact would be back within a year if he had the running boards replaced with new ones. The dealer stated that the design was faulty and the running boards were too exposed to the weather elements. The failure mileage was 61,000.

The contact owns a 2014 toyota 4runner. The contact stated that the door locks would not work and the navigation system was malfunctioning. This vehicle was sold to the contact after his chrysler vehicle broke down and was towed to mount airy chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat (538 n andy griffith pkwy, mt airy, nc 27030, (336) 789-8105). The contact purchased the 2014 toyota 4runner and drove home. The toyota vehicle was taken to central city toyota (4800 chestnut st, philadelphia, pa 19139, (215) 476-1200) where it was determined that the warranty was not valid for the failures. The toyota dealer called the chrysler dealer. The chrysler dealer instructed the toyota dealer to run the diagnostic tests. If the cost was not too high, the chrysler dealer would pay for the repairs. The chrysler dealer had not gotten back in touch with the toyota dealer. The contact called the federal trade commission and was referred to his state's attorney general's office. The failure mileage was unknown.

I own a 2014 toyota 4runner ltd. I also own a 2011 toyota 4runner ltd. One vehicle is driven by myself, and the other is driven by my spouse. Each vehicle has its own key fob with push button start. When my spouse is traveling with me in the passenger seat of my vehicle, my key fob is not recognized, warning lights are displayed on my console and my vehicle does not start. My vehicle will start at times when i place my key fob next to the push to start button or request my spouse to stay outside my vehicle. However, when traveling with me, the warning lights are on and will prevent a startup in the case of an emergency. The same thing happens when i am travelling as a passenger in her vehicle (the 2011 toyota 4runner).

While driving, the navigation/radio screen shuts off and seems to re-boot repeatedly.it is frustrating when using the radio, and dangerous when the navigation system goes blank while we are depending on it to get us to our destination.we have had to immediately pull off the road to wait for it to come back on-line and now we resort to using our smart phone as a back-up because the navigation system on the vehicle is not dependable.it has always happened while driving of coursem as that's when it is being used. This just started happening june 10th and has happened 4 times in less than 2 weeks

The automatic door locks do not function properly and will not lock or unlock without manually flipping the lock or forcing the key to unlock it.this is a safety concern because if this vehicle was to be in an accident, it would be difficult to get a person in or out of the vehicle quickly and safely. Any instance in which someone may need to get in and out of the vehicle quickly the failure of the locking mechanism could possibly result in a catastrophe.

Sometimes back-up cameras doesn't turn on while shifted in reverse.i have to shut engine and lift rear gate and close then it works again sometimes.when i am busy i just have to back up without the camera.that could leave drivers at increased risk of a crash when they back up without checking their surroundings.

My car was only 3 months out of warranty and both front door lock actuators stopped working completely. Toyota would not help me fix it and wanted an outrageous amount to replace the parts. Four months later and one of the back door actuators stopped working. I have three locks that do not function at all and it is hard to access my car and also keep it locked every time i go somewhere. I have on 35,000 miles on my car. This is just unacceptable.

In february 2018 i discovered that the passenger side door lock was intermittently not locking and not opening. This was happening using the remote, the button on the door and when placing the the vehicle in drive when the doors are supposed to lock automatically. This could have been happening for a significant period of time posing a security risk to me, my passengers and cargo. Eventually the lock stopped working completely and i had in repaired at the dealer in march costing $500 . The dealer claimed there were no recalls or safety campaigns even though i can see many complaints about toyota door locks on the internet.in june 2018 the same things began occurring with the driver door lock. The lock would be very difficult to force open or closed manually or with the key from outside. Again it posed a safety risk especially because it would be so difficult to force open in an emergency.i brought it to the dealer again and again the dealer claims there are no recalls or campaigns and this time it cost $600. I've had many cars and trucks for decades and never had to replace lock actuators never mind 2 within a few months.in january 2019 the rear passenger side door lock suddenly stopped working and now i have to go through the same thing. So this saga continues. This is obviously a serious manufacturing flaw and a serious security risk to drivers, passengers and belongings.

Vehicle was in motion on a city street on 12/24/18 when the entire system (engine, electrical etc.) completely quit.i was near a stop light, so i stopped and restarted the engine and resumed travel.on 12//27/18 i was in motion in a parking lot and the entire system failed again.at this time no systems were operable including lighting and the vehicle did not immediately restart with the ignition key.after approximately 5 minutes the vehicle responded to the ignition key and restarted.i took the vehicle to a toyota dealership and they did a diagnostics test.no issues were found during the test and they were unable to duplicate the complete system failure.they did and audio system update and i picked the vehicle back up on 12/28/18.

My lock on one of my door panels has quit working, i see it is a common problem costing @500 a door panel to correct. This needs to be a recall.

I have been having issues with my radio/backup camera system freezing and restarting since i purchased the vehicle in 2015.i have now had my passenger front door actuator go out last month.this is a huge safety concern and inconvenience.

After driving 10 mins or so the radio will freeze up, turn off and then turn back on. It only happens within the first 5 to 10 mins. I just purchased my 4 runner a week ago. So i haven't seen it turn off more then once yet. Seems like a short circuit somewhere.

Door locks will not lock/unlock.affects key fob door locks and remote start capability.internet search revealed that door lock actuators are a common issue with these vehicles.

Power door lock actuators are malfunctioning on front doors.also, the radio/navigation system locks up multiple times on any given day.

While driving, the entire electronic panel that controls the radio, navigation, rear view camera and other functions will freeze and then reset. It will happen multiple times in some instances causing a loss of control over the systems the system controls. This has been addressed on multiple forums but toyota doesn't seem to want to address a possible recall. It isn't obvious what is causing the system to freeze for multiple minutes at a time.

I own a 2014 4runner with less than 60k miles on it. The front driver's door lock is completely gone and the rear driver's side is beginning to fail too. I've read on various toyota owners websites that this seems to be a pretty common problem. The vehicle is no longer under warranty and i'm told that the cost to replace the actuator is $700-800 per door. It's totally unacceptable to me to spend $35k+ on a vehicle to then have $1500 in repairs 3 1/2 years later because of faulty equipment. I could understand if the vehicle was 10-15 years old.

This complaint relates to a defect in the toyota entune premium audio system with navigation. Audio software version 0101a5. Unit is produced by panasonic. Model 57080. The system randomly and without warning "freezes" thereby preventing the driver from lowering or muting radio volume. The volume cannot be lowered or muted until the vehicle is stopped, and the ignition is turned off. The reverse safety camera will not activate when the head unit is in its "frozen" state. Toyota motor sales usa entune support department has been contacted about this issue, and i have a case number. They have not been able to provide any fix for the issue other than to contact dealer. Dealer states radio unit is defective, and i must pay out of my pocket to replace. A toyota tsb exists to address this precise "freezing" issue, however, my particular unit will not accept the toyota firmware update (software 0101b1) for reasons nobody has been able to determine. Toyota should replace the radio/head unit at their expense. I purchased the vehicle in march of 2017, it had 13,000 miles on it at time of purchase. Warranty expired shortly after i discovered this problem. In one incident, an emergency vehicle had its siren activated on the highway; i vaguely heard the siren, and attempted to lower the radio volume. The volume would not lower, and i became disoriented as to the location of the siren. It is dangerous that the radio control "freezes" while continuing to produce sound through the speakers, and the only way to turn it off is to shut off the vehicle.

Yesterday morning when starting my 2014 4runner the trac off light stayed illuminated along with the check engine light. I took the vehicle to the dealership and it was discovered that the vehicle was damaged by rodents (chewing, droppings). An electrical wire had been completely chewed through. I turned the damage into my insurance company but am out a days work, $50 deductible, $100 deposit for rental vehicle and $5.10 tax daily on the rental. I believe this is all due to the soy being added to the vehicle electrical wiring (and anything else that is soy based) literally ringing the dinner bell for vermin.

Check engine light came on, engine stalled, vehicle disabled.

The vehicle is hard to stop and the brakes are spongy, ive driven a few 4runners and they are all like that and its dangerous. You have to push the pedal to the floor. The engine makes a horrible ticking sound when idling and sounds like the engine is going to blow up

Toyota sent out a safety recall no. 20v-012 for the fuel pump stating "if a vehicle stall occurs while driving, this could increase the risk of a crash." yet, they have no remedy now, and no remedy in the future to fix this.

Car would have trouble starting. Once i got it to start it would stall when stopped

Received notification about a recall regarding fuel pump. Contacted centennial toyota 6551 centennial center blvd. Las vegas 89149 on monday august 10, 2020 and was advised that they needed to order parts and that they would contact me for scheduling an appointment.three weeks later on august 31, 2020 i called centennial and requested the service manager to inquire of status on parts in which he stated parts are not in and that "i" should call back in 2 weeks.as of this date september 17, 2020 i have not received a call from centennial toyota.

From the very beginning when i purchased my vehicle new, the brakes on my 2014 toyota 4runner grab when anything other than light pressure is applied when the vehicle is in motion, no matter the speed.initially i thought maybe my model didn't come with abs.upon further inspection i discovered that it does.but it also comes with brake assist, which sounds like this is what is causing my concern.when the truck computer interprets your pressure and speed of that pressure on the brake pedal is "urgent", brake assist takes over, and in my opinion, locks up the brakes!this is terribly dangerous!!!!!there have been several occasions that i felt the suv would turn over because you have no control on dry pavement and all of the momentum has no where to go.i come to a screeching halt and the vehicle in front of me has to believe that i almost rear-ended them.at least if the pavement was wet i would have an opportunity to recover from a hydroplane situation.i am taking my 4runner into the dealership this saturday to see if the sensitivity can be adjusted or even just turned off.this concerns me enough that i'm actually shopping for another vehicle.

The contact owns a 2014 toyota 4runner. After placing the shifter in the reverse position, the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration. While driving in reverse, the vehicle accelerated to 20 mph before crashing into a second vehicle. During the incident, the brakes would not stop the vehicle. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 32,000.....updated 02/06/17 consumer stated crashed into third vehicle. Updated 8/30/18

When applying the brakes, the vehicle / steering wheel shakes "violently". Almost to the point that it is hard to hold on to the steering wheel. And if i'm driving at highway speeds the vehicle is extremely hard to stop. I have had to swerve around the vehicle in front of me numerous times because my brakes could not stop my vehicle in time. In an attempt to fix this issue i have had a certified mechanic replace the front rotors at 71k miles, 83k miles, 100k miles with the last time being with genuine toyota rotors. Each time the vehicle will drive great for about 10k miles and than go back to the violent shaking. Even with the last set of genuine toyota rotors, the violent shaking started after about 15k - 18k miles. Luckily with covid i don't have to drive on the highway much, but even at city speeds it still really shakes. So here i am still looking for a permanent solution to my problem

When driving i have trouble stopping the vehicle.i had my brake pads replace in february, but this still did not help.my brake pedal will go all the way to the floor barely stopping the vehicle.i have taken it to two mechanics and both have concluded the master cylinder needs to be replaced due to a leak.parts alone costing $2500 from toyota.

Vehicle handles poorly, worse above 55 mph, raining,or windy. Vehicle wanders and requires constant course corrections to stay in lane. Tires are feathering on outside edges and are prematurely worn out at under 10,000 miles. According to toyota everything is perfect.

My 2014 toyota 4 runner has what i call a death wobble. As you start down the road and get up to speed, 55-65 mph, the front end shakes violently and pulls to the right. I am almost scared to drive it. I have had a few mechanic shops look at it and no one can figure it out. They have done alignments, checked transfer case (4wd), cv axles on front, control arm bushings, swapped tires, replaced rotors and road force balanced tires. The last mechanic said i should park it until it's figured out but i cannot afford another vehicle as i'm still paying on this one and it's my only vehicle. I have never owned a vehicle that does this and i have had about 20 vehicles! i looked online to see what others have reported on this issue and there are a bunch of the exact same problems in online 2010-2018 4 runner forums. This seriously needs to be addressed and is apparently an issue with the front end. Someone is going to wreck because of this. Toyota needs to be made aware of and look into the problem. The dealerships isn't any help at all. They cannot figure out the problem either and just pawn it off until a warranty runs out. Please please please help figure this out. I love my vehicle but i'm really starting to be scared to drive it.

Vehicle shakes "violently" upon putting brakes while driving at or above 60 mph. I took my vehicle in to toyota several times for this same problem and they keep telling me it's a brake pad/rotor problem. The first time i took this in to toyota my vehicle had maybe 28,000 miles, i took it in today 3/20/17 and it has 35,000 and they said the same thing so i took it to a brake repair shop and explained what toyota had said, the employee and actual owner of the shop told me "i would love to take your money however it will not fix the problem because your brakes and rotors are perfect. That is actually what the another shop employee told me when i took it in back in 2016. I am hoping if anyone else out there has this same problem they will find a solution before something terrible happens to anyone

Steering wheel vibrates, flutters at highway speed. Most noticeable driving over 60 mph.

I was the second car waiting for the light to turn green so i could make a left. Suddenly a honda crv made an open right turn and hit the car in front of me and myself. My toyota suffered extensive damage compared to the damage of the crv. When i look at my car i find that there is no steel bumper at the extreme left or right of the vehicle. My car was stationary. Since there is no bumper to protect the vehicle the entire panels on the engine compartment shifted slightly to the right. This is mediocre and fraudulent engineering from toyota. It is also a safety issue.

The moon roof glass shattered while driving at 70 mph on an interstate highway.there were no other vehicles in front or beside us. There was a loud sound that was like a gun shot. Opened the cover on the moon roof and noticed the glass had shattered. Shortly there after several large parts and numerous smaller pieces fell down. The remaining section of glass was bowed up.

Greatly reduced safety in frontal impact during an accident due to corroded frame components caused by factory installed foam pieces that retain rain water.this problem has been noticed, personally by me, on multiple toyota 4runners of model years 2014-2016 so far. The corrosion damage on my vehicle makes me feel unsafe while driving to work and not adequate to be towed from the front hooks incase of an emergency. I tried to bring this concern to a local toyota service department and that was of no help.images are attached below that show how the factory foam pieces surrounding the radiator and its "shroud" have caused a highly concerning amount of rust on the vehicle's bumper and frame support members. These foam pieces get wet from driving in the rain and retain the water. This overtime caused the rust shown below. The newer model vehicles seem to have a rubber flap rather than foam which would prevent water damage on the frame members.mahalos## vin passed ## toyota 2014 ##

Vehicle has excessive rust on the front frame cross member below the radiator. The excessive rust is also found by the front tow hooks which could affect the overall functionality of the front tow hooks. The rust appears to be flaking off and bubbling. Vehicle is kept in an enclosed car canopy.

The back lift gate latch had rusted and corroded so badly that it would no longer shut all of the way or open up at all.with the lift gate in a "open" position, this made the sensors in the vehicle go crazy.i.e.:hazards randomly going off, sensor telling me my doors were open (not just the back door), locking and unlocking of the doors, etc... This all would happen when the vehicle was in moving, did not matter what type of road i was on.i replaced the faulty rusted lift gate latch and it fixed the problem.the latch itself cost $290.34.

The windshield on this vehicle has caused eye strain, dizziness and headaches after driving long distances or commuting repeatedly.it is unnoticeable during short trips. The dealership replaced the original windshield with a new toyota glass factory windshield, and it still does the same thing.there is either a warp in the glass or something about the yellow tint used that is causing me to have severe eye strain.driving other vehicles on my commute do not effect my eyes at all, it is definitely just this windshield.

The vehicle is equipped with the x-reas system which inter links the struts on opposite corners of the vehicle to provide flatter cornering. Toyota says the system should last well over 100,000 miles. But there are numerous complaints that the shocks start leaking from the center joint at less than 50,000 miles. Leaking shocks need to be replaced as a full set of 4. The cost for this repair is prohibitive, in excess of $3000 currently. Loss of shock performance can cause excess bounce and sway, potentially causing a crash

Door lock actuators keep going out resulting in safety issues. Doors cant be locked or unlocked with remote or by pressing button. Must be locked and unlocked manually. There have been numerous complaints of this issue mainly with only this year model. Toyota will not fix the problem, dealer will not fix the problem if warranty has expired. Multiple reports of people that have had it fixed and it tears up again. Dealer wants est $800 per door to fix and 4 of my 5 doors have stopped working. This is a major safety issue, especially with children in backseat. Dealer even agrees that recall should be issued. I have contacted the dealer multiple times, and have contacted toyota who stated that they cannot issue a recall, it must be done here. So i am begging that you research this issue on 2014 toyota 4runners and issue a recall for the door lock actuators. My issue started approx 11/2 yrs ago and they keep quitting 1 at a time.

Having major problems with door lock actuators. Just replaced front passenger side for 950 dollars at toyota dealer and was told the other 3 doors may start failing as well. I did not realize at first that the door was not locking which would make it so easy for someone to break into my car.it is a 2014 toyota 4runner. Sure enough the front driver side door is not locking. I need to spend another 950 dollars to get it fixed. What is wrong with these actuators? now the replacement actuator i had put on the passenger side is giving me problems with the door opening and closing. What next?? toyota should definitely have a recall on these actuators. It appears that i am not the only one having problems. This is a security issue.

My vehicle is in good to very good condition except that the frame is defaults and excessively rusted and will not pass another inspection, it's very similar to the 2000 tacoma that had the frame recall. We have owned six toyotas and what to believe that you will stand behind your product. I am aware of an acquaintance in augusta maine that you helped by replacing the frame and he paid $1000 towards the expense. I am just an average consumer pleading for your help. I can provide additional documentation.if needed. Your help would go s long way to purchase future toyotas and promote your brand with several hundred coworkers as well as family and friends. Please help.

The lock actuators on my 2014 toyota 4 runner have failed multiple times causing the door to not lock when prompted or unlock when prompted ( must be manually done).this is a safety issue if one had to exit the car in an emergency situation.also the security of the vehicle is compromised.

The visor for the sunroof was closed. Temperature about 90f and no clouds, time of day about 6:00pm.she was driving about 60 mph.

Mold in brand new toyota 4runner hvac making me and my family illtoyota appears to be aware of the problem, and ignoring it, at both the dealership and national headquarters, appears to be a problem in both new and older toyota'snumerous online complaints of the issue. Florida attorney general has investigated similar issues. Numerous online complaintsand numerous litigation on the problem.
