Toyota mailed a letter regarding the recall, dated june 9,2016. I received the letter on july 19,2016. I sent an email to toyota on july 19,2016 regarding my concerns as the letter indicated that i could not have a passenger. On august 1, 2016, toyota approved for me to use a compact car rental. Because the rental was approved, i had to leave my vehicle at the dealership and was told that the recall part could take 6 months to 1 year to fix. Although i appreciate a rental being covered during this process. Toyota has placed me in a small compact car that does not meet safety standards for my family, as i have a bigger vehicle with 3rd row seating. I am being told i can be without my vehicle for 6 months to 1 year with no actual date given to me. I don't believe toyota is moving in a timely manner to correct this recall and i believe they are placing many families at risk.
Carlock toyota in tupelo ms advised by phone there is no solution at this time.
Takata recall- my first notice of the recall was may 2016 and there still has not been a remedy for this recall. Just not having a pasture ride in the front passenger seat is not a long term fix. The holiday season is coming up and people will begin to travel more this is a problem that should have been fixed promptly. We are going on 5 months of this problem.

Takata recallit's taking too long to remedy this situation.it's been 5 months since i got the letter saying that the airbags are being recalled, and 8 months since the actual recallthe letter states that "until the remedy becomes available, we recommend that you do not operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat."no front passenger!?additionally, after complaining to toyota hq, i got a call saying to make an appointment with my local dealer, who then said that the parts are not yet available.

Takata recall. I'm very concerned that the 2011 4runner i purchased in july is involved in the recall and there is no remedy to fix it at this time? what are my other options? i don't want to ride in a car that is unsafe to drive. I was not given all the correct information during my hunt for a new car and am unsure how to proceed. The car originated from florida and was transferred to me in colorado through carmax.

Takata recall- no incident has occurred however we are filing a complaint due to the unacceptable amount of time to have the recall corrected. Recall notice sent over a year ago advising us not to have a passenger riding in the front passenger seat of the car due to problem with airbag which can lead to serious injury or death. Nothing has been done to resolve this. We should have the airbag and all related components replaced and/or repaired immediately.

Takata recall - one year and still no fix
Takata recallwhen wilt it be fixed? it has been 7 months since i got recall.
Takata recall. I am an active duty sailor in the us navy stationed in california. I am transferring overseas next month and toyota has yet to solve the safety recall issue on my vehicle. This is causing sever stress and concern. I was told by toyota corporate and two local dealerships that i am just out of luck and they can't help. I am recently married and now my wife and i have to figure out how to not use our vehicle because it is unsafe to drive. What makes it worse is i need to ship my vehicle overseas to my new military assignment but can't because the shipper will not accept vehicles with safety recalls. So now i am stuck paying for a car that is unsafe and i can't take with me. This is competent wrong and should not be how a person willing to buy a brand and stand behind it is treated. Not only that but especially a military member who has enough concerns and stress during the process of moving to a different country. Why am i the consumer being punished for a mistake toyota made? i really need help!

Takata recallhello tried contacting toyota and lexusnorth america. Given that i am in puerto rico they referred me to toyota puerto rico 1-877-539-8777, talked to [xxx] . So i received the letter for the two (2) vehicles i own: , 2011 toyota 4runner ([xxx]) and a 2006 lexus is250 ([xxx]). Currently they are saying that they cannot do anything until the replacement parts are available and that i should not seat anyone in the front passenger seat if it?s being used. Therefore, i am concerned for the safety letters i received, but more concerned that as a corporation no other options is being offered. I am paying for vehicles thati expect to be safe for my family and me. If i am not able to use my vehicle to go out with my wife and three kids, then i believe other options (i.e. Rented car, dealer loaner) should be offered while a solution to the problem is made available. Final communication was that currently they are not offering any other options. Claim number: [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Takata recall - local atlanta toyota dealers are not offering use of a comparable vehicle at no charge until the replacement airbag is available, even though the recall involves a potential life-threatening hazard for the front passenger. It is necessary for me to have use of a vehicle with large cargo space and towing capability. What can be done to get toyota to provide me with a 4runner or comparable vehicle until the defective airbag is replaced?

Takata recalli have owned my vehicle since i bought it in 2011 and been taking it to allen toyota in gulfport, ms for routine maintenance.last week, at the 120,000 mile oil change the dealership informed me that there was a recall on the airbags.i called toyota hq and they informed me that the recall was issued in may 2016.i asked why i had not been informed previously, since .(i have not changed addresses).jade, the toyota rep said that the dealership probably did not inform me because they may not have had a replacement part.she also so that it was the nhtsa's responsibility to inform me of the recall. I find the former reason a poor excuse since it resulted in me and my family driving in an unsafe vehicle for over a year. If the latter reason is true, i would like to know why nhtsa did not send me a recall notice.thank you for any investigation, explanation and formal complaint notice to toyota. Toyota case # 1710201403

Takata recall i received a recall notice over a year ago about my airbag being recalled. As of yet, my car has not been fixed. I use my car frequently to transport other people including my elderly mother who i transport to grocery store,dr appointments, church, etc. She sometimes gets car sick in the back seat so i haveto make other arrangements for her to be transported. On a recent trip from the hospital, i had to let her sit in the front seat because she was nauseated and couldn't sit in the back seat. I think that i havebeen more than patient and it's time for this to be fixed. Over a year is a ridiculous amount of time to take for the repair.

Takata recall: have been waiting for over a year for a remedy. Have not been able to use the front passenger seat for all of that time. Have called toyota directly on 03/08/17 (case # 1703082418) and contacted my local dealer on multiple occasions only to discover they still had no solution to the issue. Got tired of waiting and wanted to purchase a new vehicle that my family can ride in together. Went to trade in this vehicle on 07/01/17 and the dealer undercut my fair trade in price by $5,000 stating the outstanding recall was a danger to a future owner and that they couldn't sell the vehicle with a known safety hazard. Extremely frustrated that toyota hasn't found a solution to this known issue for over a year. Now it's cost me thousands of dollars.

Takata recall : notified of recall in june 2016. It is now december 2016 with no end in sight. No parts available is the answer given every time i call. Ridiculous... Apparently there is no problem finding the parts to make new cars...
The air bag light illuminated for no apparent reason
Takata recall - this recall came out in may of 2016 and, to date feb. 2017, there still has been no resolution. Toyota's written recommendation was to not let anyone ride in the front seat of the vehicle which is unrealistic. It should not take this long to arrive at a solution. If a whole new air bag system needs to be installed, then that is what needs to be done asap.

We were hit head on in a collision on 5/5/2017 and the airbags did not deploy. The front and side bags of the other vehicle deployed. The vehicle we were in did not. It was unprovable but the airbags didn't deploy. We were driving at approximately 60 mph on a 4 lane highway.

Tamara recall: i have looked it up and found that my vehicle has takata air bags, yet there is no recall notification. From what i have researched the deployment of the bags could cause serious injury or possibly death. In my opinion a recall should be implemented asap
Takata recall--toyota continues to say remedy not avaiable yetit has been over a year since recall was issued. I thought recalls are supposed to be taken care of in a timely manner.i think this safety recall needs to be addressed now.to add fuel to the fire i just received a class action lawsuitagainst toyota and i am supposed to put in a claim or exclude myself by sept. 25, 2017(just what the hell am i supposed to do now)?(makes a person want to buy a chevy)( red tape sucks)
Takata recallreceived the recall about 2 months ago and as of today 8/24/2016 my local dealership (world toyota) has not received the information or parts to repair the recall and they inform me they do not know when they will receive it.being the information in the recall recommends a passenger does not ride in the front seat i believe the time it is taking for the repair is excessive.

Takata air bag--since i have received a notice for the recall, toyota has instructed us not allow anyone to sit in the front passenger seat.they have not furnished a time line for this repair.this is a major problem for me.also, i am unable to trade the vehicle in due to the recall.toyota is blaming nhtsa for the extended recall.now the public is again stuck in the middle of a problem with no solutions.
Takata recall, i received notification of this recall over a year ago.may of 2016.i live in a hot, humid area.toyota suggests that no one ride in my passenger seat.am i really not supposed to let anyone ride in my front seat for over a year?i realize this is a large recall. But i do not plan to get rid of my 4runner any time soon.how long is this supposed to take?
Takata recallthe problem with the air bags has not been resolved and it has been since may 2016.it is unreasonable that no solution has been found in this time period and i have been unable to use the front passenger seat for 6 months.i believe a rental car should be provided until the air bags have been corrected.

Toyota takata recall and spiral cable assembly: 2011 toyota 4runner horn stopped functioning. This vehicle, according to nhtsa, is affected by the takata airbag recall. On sept 2, 2017, toyota dealer diagnosed spiral cable assembly as cause of horn failure. Given the faulty spiral cable assembly as the cause of the horn failure and the apparent cause of the airbag malfunction, this faulty part raises two serious safety issues: no horn, potentially explosive airbag. Following the dealer service, we filed a concern with toyota on sept 5, 2017. Toyota customer service insisted on sept. 12, 2017 that the vehicle is safe. We do not believe the vehicle is safe. The problem started while the car was in motion.

Takata recallso i received a recall notice from toyota for the takata airbags and called toyota to fix it they said they don't have parts to fix it and to call again in a few months. A few months past called again and still don't have parts so ask what are my options? is it safe to drive? they say it's safe but just don't have sit in the passenger seat ( can't do that) or they can give me a compact car rental for free. I bought a suv for a reason and need a bigger vehicle for work and will not accommodate rental for a bigger vehicle. I then agreed for a compact car then said i had to be put ona waiting list because there are none available. This all happened at toyota marin located in san rafael ca. I then called toyota corporate and asked if they can accommodate and whether they had any information when this will be resolved and [xxx]said she wasn't sure and started case # [xxx] for my call and told me someone will contact me the next day about the case. So [xxx] called me today and was rude from the beginning, first she said (her name was [xxx])my vehicle was safe to drive until you hit a 6-9 year deteriorate phase which then will be unsafe. That would be i believe january 2017. I then ask i was told it was shrapnel problem if i got in an accident by the first toyota marin. Dealership service personal said ([xxx]). So [xxx] said she couldn't accommodate a larger a suv for me and when i asked for her supervisor she refused to let me talk to him. All i want is a like safe vehicle to drive. I left like the whole time talking to [xxx] from corporate she wouldn't answer my questions and said my vehicle was safe to drive and that it's not a issue.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Takata recall: airbag was recalled may 23, 2016. We have contacted toyota and been told there is still no remedy for the recall. It has been 11 months that we have not been able to use our front passenger seat safely. I think nearly a year is plenty of time to remedy the recall and no end is in sight. It is more than an "inconvenience" at this point. We would like it fixed now, it has been nearly a year.

Takata recallthe manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner.
My vehicle (4runner) has been sitting in toyota's service center for over 2 months, waiting on a backordered part for a remedy to the recent recall. Our 7-person family cannot use the 4runner in the meantime due to the risk of death on passenger side. I am filing a complaint because toyota gave us a loaner vehicle that is not comparable to our 4runner and they have no other option to provide us. We want our vehicle back and they state it will probably be at least december before the replacement part comes in. Since we just purchased the 4runner a year ago, we asked if we can just give the vehicle back to them as a trade in. However they will not work with us. We cannot continue driving this loaner vehicle because they will not allow us to drive it where we need to drive it, and were forced to cancel multiple trips due to not having our vehicle. This is getting ridiculous. Toyota must have known about this recall a year ago when we purchased the 4runner. Honda has known about it for years. We are extremely irate that we were sold this vehicle and cannot drive it for at least 5 months due to a recall. If the manufacturer cannot keep up with production of the replacement part then another a new manufacturer needs to come to the rescue. There has to be additional manufacturers of this part besides takata. Why aren't the auto makers bringing in outside help for this massive catastrophe and calling all hands on deck?! you are an organization that can help orchestrate a faster resolution to the problem. That is the reason i am reaching out to you, because i know you have the power to make things happen. I know i may be just one person writing this, but i speak for many who are being affected by the delays of the recall remedy. I look forward to hearing from you!

It has been over 8 months and my car is still not fixed.i am still unable to have my full family ride in my car, as no one can sit in the front passenger seat.toyota corp and the local toyota dealership are refusing to provide me a loaner vehicle unless i sign a form indicating that i will keep my car in my garage and not use it.why can i not drive my own car, by myself, with no one in the passenger seat, like i am doing now?i am only needing the loaner for my full family.i should be able to drive my own care by myself, freely.i refuse to sign such a waiver; however, it has been over 8 months and we need a family car.i have left several messages for toyota corp and for my local dealership.no one is assisting me with this.
Takata recall;we were notified about the airbag recall well over a year ago but there is still no remedy.i know sending the recall letter takes the "heat" off toyota for any injuries that may occur should the airbag deploy and injure someone but this is my son's car, that he uses every single day!we have asked toyota for updates; they say they have none.we have asked if they will allow us to just trade in the car; they say no.we have asked if we can have a loaner car until the remedy is available to fix my son's car; they decline.my son's well being is too important to me to ignore this any more.it is ridiculous that more has not been done to 1. Find a solution to the problem, and 2. Either allow customers to trade their car in or give them a loaner car.what is a life worth?

Takata recall:we were notified of the recall for the air bag on our 2011 4runner over a year ago. We have inquired and opened an issue for it with the dealership, but are being told that the part is still not available. We are very frustrated, as this is the primary vehicle we use when commuting and going on trips, but cannot do so. We were offered a rental, but i am concerned with leaving our vehicle on the dealership lot. We received a letter in the mail yesterday, stating that the company who makes the air bags, takata, has filed for bankruptcy in the us. We are stuck n a rock and a hard place now and do not know what to do. We have had to drive the vehicle to the dealer on several occasions, just to get loaner vehicles for a few day trips we have done. This has become a huge inconvenience and we want the issue resolved.

Driver's side tail light assembly shorted out while driving
Vehicle just cut off and all lights at instrument panel came on. Tried to start vehicle and engine turned over but wouldn't start. I had vehicle towed to nearest dealer:bobby murray toyota of rocky mount, nc and they couldn't find a problem, vehicle started for them the next morning. They said it had a crankability code but didn't set a hard code. My concern is this happening again, who knows when or where with me by myself or with my grandchildren in the vehicle, and having to pay a tow again!!!!
Drivers side tail light shorts out repeatedly while driving.. This has been ongoing since 2015. Bulbs have been replaced, tail light has been replaced twice and the light continues to short out.

Just as i put my new toyota 4-runner in reverse in a crowded parking lot, the engine races wildly. Fortunately my foot was firmly on the brake, and i was able to get it back into "park" - whereupon the engine raced even more wildly, until i turned off the ignition. I checked to make sure that nothing was against the accelerator pedal - and there wasn't... I checked to make sure the accelerator pedal was in its correct position and working freely - and it was. So i restarted the car, it seemed fine, and drove home - and a little bit yesterday (monday) morning - the day after the incident. All was fine... But, but, this was a very crowded parking lot where the incident took place - literally hundreds of people - including children - walking around, and many hundreds of other cars and trucks nearby... I am a life-long toyota owner - and this will not change this. But, clearly this "uncontrolled acceleration" problem with toyota's of late, still exists and must be corrected immediately!!!

The headlamps on the toyota 4runner have a defect in the uv coating (see tsb-0081-12).the accelerated deterioration of the headlamp clarity causes a significant decline in the light output of the headlamps.the deterioration of the light output is a safety issue.
While the vehicle was sitting and idling the engine light came on along with vse light and experienced rough idling and erratic throttle response.when my wife tried to put in reverse and back out no throttle was produced to move vehicle.she turned car off and restarted engine light remained on along with vse light. She was able to make it home with rough idling and extremely erratic throttle response.this happened one other time within a five day window until we were able to get to the dealership for service appointment.dealership contends throttle body is bad at 39,000 miles due to the three problems codes pulled from vehicle.although scheduled preventative maintenance was performed @ 30,000 miles with throttle body cleaning this part still failed. The erratic throttle response from this part is very dangerous for anyone that experiences this while driving.
Purchased vehicle new and the 5 speed automatic transmission operated smoothly.around 9,300 miles the transmission started shifting gears harshly.the harshness is intermittent but happening more frequently.also, while at highway speeds going downhill, the rpms bounce everywhere from 1500 rpms to 3000 rpms.its almost as if the transmission is confused and doesn't know what gear to choose anymore.i also feel as if the brakes aren't releasing. When sitting at a red light going down hill, once i release my foot off the brake and before i accelerate, while coasting, i feel a "thud" in the rear end after about two rotations of the wheels. I drive in bumper-to-bumper traffic daily in pittsburgh and this shifting is awful - by far the worst transmission in a vehicle i have ever owned.i mentioned this issue during my last service visit at the toyota dealership and they said a technical service bulletin had not been issued yet.this needs addressed asap.this can't be the way toyota intended for this vehicle to operate - especially since it didn't always operate this way.
Sudden rapid acceleration, entering a parking spot, both feet on brakes, still acceleration, put in neutral then park, still acceleration, had to back up, was in a bad position, never touched the gas thru this whole incident. Relined vehicle, still acceleration, put in park and turned it off. Toyota has had it since,9-2-2011, today is 9-7-2011. What are my options. I pick up my grand kids all the time let alone on the road shopping, errands, etc. The floor mats were not the problem.
Water enters transmission through defect in safety neutral switch causing transmission input shaft to malfunction causes delay in transmission engaging then jumps into gear. Vehicle stationary

I was driving my car and the seat started getting hot. I checked to make sure the switch was off. It was, but i turned it on then off, just to make sure. The seat heater stayed on and got hotter, and i started to smell something burning. I stopped, got out, and checked under the seat but couldn't see anything under there. I was close to home, but had to roll my windows down the smell was so bad...and the seat was unpleasantly hot!my husband drove it the next day and the problem was still there. I turned in the ignition and wasn't even around the block from my home, when i noticed my seat overheating along with a strong burning electrical/wire smell. The heat was hotter than the highest setting because it was uncomfortable to remain seated. I checked the power switch, which was off, then toggled it anyway to see if it would turn off. I had to pull over as the seat was too hot and feared it injure me and/or would ignite. After turning off the ignition, the heating stopped. However, i got back in and started to drive, it heated up again. I returned home to look under the seat but didn't see anything unusual, except for the strong burning wires smell. Also, my skin was red with a lingering sting in two areas where the heat was more intense. I conducted on online search about the problem and discovered others experienced the abrupt overheating seats.

Steering wheel will start vibrating/shaking at speeds between 60-68. Brought it to the dealer the day after i purchased the vehicle, they couldn't find anything wrong. Said toyota was aware but didn't have any solution. Issue will occur about 98% of the time and will last until you drive below 59 mph.
The frame is rusting out. The vehicle and steering shake excessively. It increases with speed and feels as if the suspension is braking or the wheels are coming off. Feels unsafe to drive. Has been this way since i purchased the car. Has gotten progressively worse.
Steering wheel vibrates lightly at 60 mph or more, once the speed lowers to 59 mph or less it steady. I ask the dealer for the situation and they said that the steering alignment is perfect. Tires were rotated but didn't worked.
Steering wheel started jerking abnormally in the am or after it has not been driven for a while. Now it can happen at any time but not all the time and it occurs between 60 and 70 mph. I have taken it to the dealer eight times. They replaced the tires but it didn't correct the issue. I have been told toyota is aware but they have not been advised me of that. Toyota is taking care of the lexus and the gx models first.

Toyota high lander, 2011.the power liftgate arm on the real trunk is detached from the liftgate. It looked to me as if the screw became stripped and came out of the hole. And they said it isn't covered and they will charge to the owner and it costs around $3500.00, please investigate this case and how it detached from the body.

Rear frame cross memeber that also supports a bolt on hitch receiver and attaches to each of the vehicles side rails, that run the length of the vehicle is rusting. I have found several 1/4 inch rust created separations (holes) in the steel with surface rust crating future failues.
Upon attempting to lift the rear liftgate, the door would not stay in open position. The day before 03/08/2013, it worked fine. It appears the rear liftgate struts failed. This is dangerous because if these struts failed in the open position it would have resulted in serious injury.

Air clock spring problem..horn not working ..when i gas upand feel like loud vibrate
Toyota 4 runner has a vibration kind of an engine vibration.it happens when we accelerate the suv.it's not the tires.
Rear under carriage / frame has excessive corrosion that shouldn't be consider normal wear. Truck was earlier recalled for replacement of leaf springs due to potential failure from corrosion.likewise, do believe frame, like some earlier models of tacoma's, should also be considered for recall. First signs of corrosion/rust began @ 2014 and has been progressing steadily.

I feel that since i have never use this until i had my great grandson why should i be responsible for the repair. I have continue to have my service done and not just that i have also purchase a 2014 corilla over $27,000.00 both vehicle brand new. Please give me some feed back on how to resolve this issue with this rear child safety lock.

The contact owns a 2011 toyota 4runner. The contact stated that the cruise control was set to 70 mph, and when the vehicle began to travel downhill, it accelerated to speeds of 80 to 85 mph. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the vehicle was operating as intended and the vehicles speed would exceed whatever the cruise control was engaged to when traveling downhill. The contact was also informed that the speed was supposed to vary by 3 to 8 mph. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was operating as designed. The failure mileage and current mileages were 5,600.
Easy to chip windshield glass. Weak windshield glass.
The sunroof glass spontaneously exploded while parked in my driveway as i was entering the vehicle. I heard a loud pop and heard glass hitting the top of the sun shade. I inspected the top of the sunroof and noticed that the glass was pushed outward, as if it exploded away from the vehicle. There was no hail and no objects above the vehicle that could have fallen. The vehicle is parked in an open driveway with no trees.
While driving down the road at approximately 60 mph the glass in the sun roof exploded upward and out away from the roof of the car.the sun roof was not being operated. It was only around 80 to 85 degrees. The force of the glass being blown out reminded me of motors exploding in iraq. Wife said it sounded like a shot gun being fired. I have pictures showing how the glass exploded outward. At first i thought someone threw a brick through a window.
Purchased a replacement front wheel hub a bearing from a seller on ebay.the component is advertised and labeled as koyo, the name on the original bearing.after a month the part failed.learned then that the part is a counterfeit.the same counterfeit item is for sale by several sellers on ebay.this is a critical part and failure could cause severe vehicle damage and an accident endangering lives of passengers in the vehicle and other highway users.reported to ebay but the items are still being sold.
