2003 motorhome, mfg by tiffinon a freightliner (fl) chasis. Pur'd used in 11, 2004. I had one occurance (east or) - brakes sticking on while decendinglong steep grade.brakes smelled hot and stop lights stayed on after shut down . Hot brakes will fail. Tapped brake- lights went off. Took rig to fl in pdx -could find nothing wrong and said they couldn't do anything withoutcondition to ariseat their facility. Brakes stuck again - hot, smelly, stop lights stayed on etc.again, tapping released the brake.again, fl could find nothing - same story.on way to ca again -proceeded to sacramento and explained to the motorhome svc mgr.he said a light problem, not brakes - i urged that i knew a little about vehicles and was sure it was brakes.when he sent a mechanic to talk to me i said i had a brake problem and he said oh, i thought it was a light problem. Again, he couldn't do anything unless i could get the problem to happen - i finally went round and round some blocks with the accelerator pedal down and the brakes on - after several trips i got the condition to happen and drove back using the parking brake so as not to lose the condition.the mechanic then said yes, it was brakes.i explained that i thought it must be a condition close to the brake pedal as if it were further down the line, the brakes would stay on but the stop lights would not.they thought they diagnosed it as one thing and when they tore it down it was another - just after the brake pedal there is a cylinder that pushes up into a "cavity" and both the piston and the cavity were badly scored and one time in ______ the piston would stick.the tapping jarred it loose.at that point they were happy to fix it and suggested it might not be a warranty issue but accepted that it was.it certainly did not appear to be an item that any freightliner was having problems with but as i say, if it is/becomes a common problem it is a safety issue.
