Due to the impact, her sister's vehicle hit another vehicle and bounced back and forth between both vehicles. The vehicle continued to the drive despite the accident and no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The airbags also failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact's sister and her mother, the passenger in the vehicle, were taken to the emergency room where they were treated for various body aches and bruising. The whereabouts of the other drivers involved in the accident were unknown. The vehicle was towed to an independent tow yard where it remained in their possession. The dealer nor the manufacturer have yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired or destroyed. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

I pulled up next to a parking space in a parking lot and the tesla auto park feature was offered on the screen after detecting the parking spot. I pressed to auto park and the tesla proceeded to perform the auto park. During the parking the tesla hit the truck parked in front of the tesla while turning into the space and broke the taillight of the truck and scratched the tesla on right front side. I then braked and disable the auto park after the collision. I reported the incident to tesla and they reported back that they don't see any issues with the sensors at that time and they say i need to take full responsibility. I cannot think of anything that was particularly challenging for this parking spot or surroundings. It seems a bad calculation by the sensors of tesla or the software and it made a mistake. Given this experience i cannot trust any of tesla autopilot features now. They have concluded they will not do anything about it.

I had turned into the taco bell address: 5217 mudd tavern rd, woodford, va 22580 when the car surged and sped. I was able to avoid a person and the dog. But the car continued to accelerate. I tried to utilize the brake system but it did not engage and continued speeding into the next parking lot address 5217 mudd tavern road, woodford, va 22580. The car did not stop for trees and so i had to stop the car by impact with a dumpster in the best western plus parking lot. This happened on june 5th 2021. I have tried to get the video from the hotel but to no avail. The senior deputy is [xxx] spotsylvania county. They have the scene photographs. His email is [xxx]. Phone [xxx] ext 3936. The case file number is [xxx].over the last 40 years of driving my records are excellent. I really would like to understand the reason for the crash. I am not getting any assistance in a rapid manner to determine the cause. Since i have driven multiple car type over the years i need to understand why this car caused this. Hoping nobody else has to go through this.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I purchased the tesla full self-driving capability via subscription for my 2021 tesla model y on saturday, july 17, 2021. On sunday, july 18, 2021 at approximately 12:40pm ct.while activating the smart summon feature in a private residential parking lot, the car drove itself into a tree damaging the front of the car resulting in a total cost of $1,799.32.tesla is refusing to refund me the $200.00 for the self-driving subscription after their software malfunctioned.this is a dangerous feature that is available to millions of drivers. Video footage of the incident is here: https://vimeo.com/580859343this is the description of smart summoned directly from teslaā€™s website: https://www.tesla.com/support/autopilot#usingautopilotsmart summon is designed to allow your car to drive to you or a location of your choosing, maneuvering around and stopping for objects as necessary. Like summon, smart summon is only intended for use in private parking lots and driveways. You are still responsible for your car andā€æmust monitor it and its surroundings at all timesā€æand be within your line of sight because it may not detect all obstacles. Be especially careful around quick moving people, bicycles and cars.to use smart summon, open your tesla app, tap summon and then select the smart summon icon. To activate the feature, press and hold the come to me button. Alternatively, tap the target icon, set the target destination of your choice by adjusting the map, and then press and hold the go to target button. You can stop your car from driving at any time by releasing the button.smart summon works with your tesla app and your phoneā€™s gps to operate. You must be within approximately 200 feet of your car to use. Smart summon requires the latest version of the tesla mobile app (3.10.0 or later). Please refer to the ownerā€™s manual for additional details about this feature.

The contact owns a 2021 tesla model y. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the steering wheel seized and the brakes failed to engaged. The vehicle went into autocorrect on its own and was swerving then crashed into a semi truck. No medical attention was received on the scene but the contact later seeked medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tesla approved collision repair center. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they will escalate the file over to headquarter to evaluate. The failure mileage was approximately 2,800.

My brand new 2021 tesla model y has had problems with the touchscreen (the main control center of the car) since day 1.it flickers off and on sporadically while driving (different speeds, roads and weather conditions each time) and once (after being parked)wouldn't turn on at all until i put it in reverse as one of the many things i tried.then a glitchy screen full of static appeared and eventually the screen came back on.there are numerous online posts about how to fix this but none have worked.this occurs while driving, which means i can't see warnings or even the speed i am traveling!i have to wait another week, then drive about an hour to get to the repair location. Then who knows what will happen or how long it will take. Seems you should be looking into all tesla touchscreens, not just the x and s.just "google" this issue and you'll find plenty of complaints.this is clearly not just me.

These are additional comments regarding complaints numbers 11406321, 11406325, and 11406632.according to tesla documentation, loss of phone key communication should give 2 to 3 minutes drivability to get to a safe stop.there was no statement that i found in that documentation to describe how the driver is notified of the failure.regarding the statement by tesla personnel that i tried to shift into park while moving, the car does, indeed, prevent that from happening, and gives the driver a loud audible warning.the date of occurrencelisted with this submission is approximate.

The contact owns a 2021 tesla model y. The contact stated while driving approximately 60-70 mph and merging onto the highway, the vehicle inadvertently swerved into the two other lanes. The display screen (emmc) crashed. The contact attempted to reboot the system however, the touch screen failed to respond to the touch. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the dealer could not duplicate the failure and informed the contact that everything was fine with the vehicle. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to another dealer tesla (3067 n elston ave, chicago, il 60618) and after the dealer test drove the vehicle, the mechanic found out that there was a firmware bug that caused the failure. The dealer informed the contact that he needed to wait for the software update in order to resolve the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,500.

These are additional comments regarding complaints numbers 11406321 and 11406325.since that time we have had increasingly frequent problems with the phone keys on multiple phones.my suspicion is that the problem i initially reported in case number 11406321 was caused by loss of communication of that phone.i have never been able to re-establish that phone as a phone key, and we are now experiencing problems with multiple phones.i most strongly believe that there is a huge safety issue with the phone keys.failure of that bluetooth connection would result in the immediate stopping of the vehicle.

I received delivery of my 2021 model y on monday, march 29th. After 12 days of ownership and driving approx. 400 miles, on saturday, april 10th, the vehicle shut down while driving, leaving me stranded in a lane of traffic at night. The following error message appeared on the monitor: 'vehicle shutting down ' pull over safely'. I was not successful in completely pulling over, since i had very little time (approx. 5 seconds) to respond before the car shook and stopped entirely. I had no ability to place it in neutral to move it to a safer location. I was able to put my hazard lights on. An hour later, the car was towed. According to tesla, it required a new rear motor and new 12 volt battery. As a result of the rear motor shutting down, after 12 days of use, the car force stopped itself without any option to place into neutral leaving a driver stranded and essentially a "sitting duck" in the most dangerous situations a driver can be put in. This is a safety issue that should be addressed - at least provide the driver longer than 5 seconds to react &/or provide option to place vehicle into neutralto move to safety.

Heat doesn't work on new model ys. For cold climates this should be a huge issue. Cannot defrost windows. Can't get the cabin heat on could result in hypothermia if tire goes flat.this is a wide spread issue, apparently faulty sensors, and they're still producing with known problem.

We picked up out new model y on 2/13/2021 from minneapolis, due to living in iowa and that being the closest store. After leaving minneapolis, the interior heat quit working. We messed with the controls all we could and it would not start again. The exterior temperature was in the negative teens. At one point on the 2 hour 45 minute drive home the interior cabin temperature was in the single didgets. It continues to not work correctly from the interior controls. I was unable to get ahold of anyone at tesla to find a better solution other than just getting home. Online research says that this is an issue many people have come across that i was not made aware of. The windows of the vehicle were beginning to frost over during our drive home. We restarted the vehicle multiple times, and have been able to get the car to warm by using the tesla app on our phones, but once we start driving the heater stops working. I feel it is unacceptable to have received a new vehicle with 6 miles on the odometer in the upper midwest with a heater that does not work as intended.

The contact's sister owns a 2021 tesla model y. The contact stated that while her sister was driving on the highway(speed unknown) with the autopilot engaged, an 18-wheeler drifted into her lane and hit her vehicle.

My car wiresgot overheated because of failing cooling system , tesla refused topull logs on my car, talk to tesla reps named fitzgerald who said i have failing cooling system ... But they refused to fix new car under warranty forcing me to pay extra for damages... Tesla manager mitch at agora center failed to provide me with video pics of rodent eating wires, even though i have cameras around my car 24/7 showing no rodent ever approachedmy car, but tesla manager refused to fix my car asap using warranty forcing me to drive unsafe car to another tesla service on monday in van nuys... And pay for damages out my own pocket...

Safety restraint system failed a few days after delivery and tesla repaired after two weeks of reporiithe issue.*dtconsumer stated airbag on the driver's side was changed.

There is no mechanical release for the rear doors. If the vehicle loses power you cannot exit through the back doors. In a crash where the model y completely loses power, rear seat occupants cannot get out on their own.

I talk to specialist they said i have cooling system failure, and guy from tesla fitzgerald who remotely connected to my car before my appointment with you , also said i had cooling system failure not rodent problem... Teslarodent damage excuse is scam and fraud not to use my warranty but profit by making me to pay directly for damages that itā’s not my fault and thatā’s illegal and unfair

On multiple occasions we have lost communications with the vehicle through the tesla phone app.the problem exists for three different phones of two different models.we have usually been able to re-establish communications through the tesla procedures, but not always. On all but one of those occasions the vehicle was stationary and we were able to use a key card to continue.but on one occasion, while making a u-turn on a side street, the car just stopped moving, partially blocking the street.we had lost communications with the phone app.after recovering with a key card we went straight to the dealer.examining the software, they claimed that i had hit the 'park' button while moving.first, i would have had no reason to do so.second, i know of no vehicle that would not block any attempt to enter park while moving.third, it killed all communication with the vehicle, while moving, leaving it stranded in the middle of the street.

While leaving a parking lot, the vehicle lurched and felt like anti lock brakes kicked in and the car stopped working.the monitor had multiple alerts including saying to get out and back in the vehicle and it may allow me to resume driving. It did not.the vehicle stopped and just would not allow me to drive, pull over or move the car in any way.the park, neutral, drive options were gone. If i were on a highway i most likely would have caused multiple accidents.extremely scary and not normal. Seems like other tesla forums call this issue out for numerous other people. Something needs to be done.

The contact owned a 2021 tesla model y. The contact stated that while driving at 70 mph on autopilot, the vehicle began shifting from left to right for 5 - 10 seconds when another vehicle approached the passenger side of the contact's vehicle. The contact attempted to disable the autopilot by depressing on the brake pedal and maneuvering the steering wheel however, the vehicle would not allow the contact to control it and it spun around and hit the median wall on the highway. Medical attention was received on the scene for the contact's sister, who was a passenger. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tesla repair center, where there's an ongoing investigation. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they would respond within 6-8 weeks after the investigation. The failure mileage was approximately 300.

These are additional comments regarding complain number 11406321.we did have to shift into park in order to use the key card.that is normal and expected.

The same week i purchased my tesla model y, the screen would freeze and the touchscreen would cease to accept input. I took it into the service center twice in the same week and the cause turned out to be a pinched cable harness which was repaired under warranty. However, i would like to submit my feedback that i was unable to operate basic functions of the vehicle including windshield wiper control, mirror adjustments. However, the car remained driveable by shifting the drive stalk. I have also observed the screen would sometimes freeze which needs a reboot. If iā€™m driving in a heavy rain and this happened , my familyā€™s safety could be compromised by not accessing basic functions required for safe operation of the vehicle. Tesla promptly repaired the issue but if it would happen again, i would not be able to use basic car screen functions where a lot of safety controls reside.

I am reaching out to say that i saw the model s and x recall for touchscreen glitches. I have a model y 2021 and i'm experiencing many of the same concerns and issues with loss of safety features like back up camera, proximity censors, land change, and more. This tends to happen when i enter the car and start moving. It won't resolve itself till i leave the car, walk away, and reenter the car.

1.screen froze. When rebooted while driving by pressing both scroll buttons, the screen went black and could not access any information or functions on the screen. Put the car into park to fix the issue but then could not change to drive for a minute because the gear change lever wouldn't respond.2. The car does not stay in its lane when using autopilot during the daytime on a well marked freeway with clear lane markings. The car kept on crossing lane markers.

I would like nhtsa to force automakers to stop using names for their driver assistance features that overstate the capabilities of those features. A driver assistance feature should be allowed to be sold as autopilot if it cannot pilot the vehicle automatically. A driver assistance feature should not be allowed to be sold as "full self-driving" if it cannot drive itself fully. It is deceptive, dangerous, and wrong. "driver assistance standard" and "driver assistance plus" are fair, safe, and appropriate terms that do not immediately tempt abuse. Please immediately act in the interest of consumer and public safety to stop these misleading and unsafe practice by automakers. I submit this on behalf of the 4/16/2021 harris county, tx crash victims, those who have come before, and those who will continue to die believing they are in a self-driving car.

I was trying to park the tesla model y after finishing a 15-20 minute test drive on freeways and streets. I parked in a parking lot at the dealership in between two other cars. In order to park the car, i was braking to bring it to a complete stop. After the car was positioned into the parking lot and just before stopping, it accelerated all of a sudden, swerved left and hit a planter in front and another planter on the left before coming to a stop. I got out of the car and my family too and reported to the dealership. I did not leave until tesla fire and tesla security folks came in and took stock of the situation. They found the left front wheel locked in position and had to manually unlock it using tools. 3 other family members were in the car (including kids). Tesla has not offered any explanation for the last 6 days as to why this happened.

Phantom braking is a known problem with the tesla model y.my adaptive cruise control has malfunctioned 2 times in 1 week. It's a very dangerous situation. Apply panic braking when the road has very little traffic and no curves.no warning signs at all.i reported the 2 incidents to tesla. They essentially said that there was nothing they could do.

Vehicle made a sudden right turn when it was on auto pilot and because of that there are minor cosmetic damages to wheel and tire. Manufacturer doesn't accept any fault when it was humanly impossible to control the vehicle because of sudden turn.

This is the 2nd tesla my mom owned, she drove a model 3 without any problems for many months. She picks up this model y on november 19 2020, and drives home from the dealer without issues. Next day november 20, 2020, drives to her work, pulls into a parking spot and came to a complete stop. Approx 5-10 seconds later the car lurches forward, hops over the parking curb, over some grass and into a brick wall at full acceleration. Luckily nobody was hurt, but severe damage to the building and the car. This case of unintended acceleration needs investigation. My mom does not feel safe getting back into this model y.

Today, mar. 22, 2021, in my brand new 2021 tesla model y, which i have now owned for one month, i was sitting at a red light at a fairly large intersection on the outskirts of annapolis, md.i had my foot resting on the floor as the car was stopped and in hold mode.suddenly, with the light still red and on its own, my car accelerated through the red light into the intersection at top speed.(i was the first car in line at the red light.)i slammed my foot on the brake but nothing happened, it kept going right through.a van crossing through the intersection in the other direction proceeding through his green light was narrowly, within an inch, missed by my car, which kept going all the way through until it finally stopped at the other side.conditions were dry and the weather was nice.it was approximately 1:00 in the afternoon est.i continued to drive until i came to a safe place to pull over, and then called tesla service and roadside assistance, and found their attitude to be very defensive.i was terrified to drive it so i had them come and tow it to the service center where they say they will look at the log.about a day or two ago, a software update was pushed to my car; that was the second sw update since i bought the car one month ago.this was absolutely the most terrifying thing that has ever happened in my 42 years of driving.i could have been killed or my car could have killed someone.thank god no pedestrians were crossing in front of me at the time, and that i somehow missed that passing van.i i felt the need to report this incident to the authorities -- i told tesla i want them to take back the car and give me a new one in exchange.it is only one month old and has just 801 miles of driving on it thus far.i was not using auto pilot, to my knowledge, nor was i using cruise control.i do not have the self-driving package.

While i was preparing to park.the car accelerated on it's own and jumped the curb.the break was not responsive, and i was unable to stop the car.the car hit a pole and stopped.i called the police and filed a police report.this is second time that this has happened since owning the car.

This problem happens repeatedly. It has been reported by multiple tesla owners but no action has been taken by tesla.when driving with the cruise control engaged, the car will brake very aggressively.this happens most commonly when there is no other traffic on the road and no debris on the road.it seems the car believes there is something in front of the car for which it needs to stop, even though the road is clear.but if i press on the accelerator the car resumes normal cruise operation.if there is a car behind me i am worried that the car behind me will crash into me.the braking action is very aggressive.

Backing out of garage, the driver began to smell acid and burnt electronics from the back of car. After driving back home from work the driver inspected the car. The back driver side door reeked of burnt electronics and the entire car had an acid smell. After consulting tesla, the first tesla maintenance worker noticed the entire inside of the door had melted and all electronics were fried. He claimed he had never seen this before. The second maintenance worker came with parts and determined the window module had overheated and caught fire. The fire melted many components inside the door. A brand new 2021 tesla model y should not spontaneously catch fire. Especially if it is residing inside the garage of a house. After replacing all the components, tesla deemed the car safe to drive. Yet, a couple days later they requested we bring the car in so that they could replace the computer that controls the left side of the car to do more research and find the 'root' cause of the fire. There were no warnings for the driver, nor was the driver using that window module. We have not driven the car since as we feel unsafe in the vehicle.

My car wiresgot overheated because of failing cooling system , tesla refused topull logs on my car, talk to tesla reps named fitzgerald who said i have failing cooling system ... And pay for damages out my own pocket...

When the gas pedal is released at speeds greater than 15mph, the regenerative breaking system is engaged to such a degree that the tires break traction when driving on slippery surface like snow or ice.the car then goes out of control and slides in an uncontrolled manner.the car has various setting for breaking, but even the setting that offers the least breaking (called "roll"), results in significant braking action when the gas peddle is released at speeds above 15mph' enough force that driver and passengers fall forward against seat belts. My experience with my 2-week old car is that the car went out of control, and i slid across the road into an embankment.i have 30 years of intense, remote winter driving experience, and i have had zero accidents, until now in a brand new tesla.the car should offer a setting where no mechanical or regenerative breaking is applied when the gas pedal is released.alternately, the anti-lock system should be activated when the gas pedal is released so that the breaking system can disengage if wheels stop rotating (if a slide/skid is detected).it's a huge flaw that needs to be addressed in this otherwise impressive car.here's the gist:all good drivers know that if you press a car's brake while on snow or ice, (particularly in a turn or when there are other inertial forces) the car will go out of control.however, the tesla model y goes out of control when you lift your foot off the gas ' no brake needed.this is a novel behavior and the car should either not do this, or there should be a significant warning to new drivers.

Went to stop on bellflower ave in long beach around 8 am 2/11/21 to turn in to the long beach va and had loss of brake pressure. Basically stopped from regenerative braking. Had to push brake pedal to the floor to engage at all.thankfully did not have an accident. Tesla found an internal failure of a brake caliper with a leak. This is unacceptable quality control for a brand new car. Thankfully i was not on the freeway when this happened or god forbid, with my kids in the car.

Clunk noise coming from front end suspension while driving on the freeway. Then the steering wheel started to go off centered, slightly to the right, and had some play. The steering wheel had to be held tightly to keep car driving straight. I called tesla and took it in to their lake forest service center. The clunk can be felt and heard while turning left onto drive way. Service was able to reproduce noice but was not able to pinpoint the cause. Tech did state that a bolt was 1/8 of a turn loose. Tech performed alignment and state thst noise went away. Service advisor released vehicle and ask to inform him if problem resurface. Same clunk noise persist but at a lower noise level while turning left on driveway.

The rear body panel in front of the rear wheels have paint issue being hit by debris coming from the front tires.

Parking my car when i pressed the brake and ready to engage park , car accelerated in high speed and drove to island and trying to control the wheel while my foot still on breakto avoid hitting other cars on the parking lot ,hit some curbs which cause the tire on the front passenger side came off completely with axle attached . This cause the car to stop and deployed air bag and caught on fire , that's when i immediately got out the car. The car mileage is524 when it happened.minor burn on my left arm from the fire and sore shoulder less than 24 hours.

There is no mechanical release for the rear doors. If the vehicle loses power you cannot exit through the back doors. In a crash where the model y completely loses power, rear seat occupants cannot get out on their own.

On 5/5/2021 my wife was driving in the tesla y taking her two grandkids to school and was stopped at a traffic light.the car was in hold mode with a car in front of her and a car behind her.the car does not have auto pilot.all of a sudden the car started moving forward in an accelerated mode.my wife did not push the accelerator.the tesla hit the car in front and then went into reverse and hit the car behind.substantial damage to all three cars.my wife and my grandkids were terrified and everyone started screaming.my wife couldnā€™t release her seatbelt because it tightened during the crashes.she had to call for help.this happened at 7:30am.the san jose police took a report 21-125-0191.

I was using the smart summon function to reverse my car parked under a parking roof held on pillars. When using the summon, the tesla wheels rotated before it had reversed enough to be away from the pillar and scratched the side wall against it. Tesla refused to cover it under warranty even though there was no way i could have prevented it because it happened as soon as the car started reversing.

The cabin heater does not work in cold temperatures

My car's interior heating stopped suddenly while driving from kadoka, sd to big sky, mt on a road trip. As temperatures outside were subzero, interior windows frosted over, preventing visibility and cabin temp fell to zero. My wife and i had no choice but to drive to nearest hotel in gillette, wy to stay. By the time we arrived we had symptoms of frostbite and hypothermia and driving a car with no visibility on icy roads was extremely unsafe.this heating issue is a known problem with new model y teslas and has been documented extensively in online forums:https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/model-y-heat-stopped-working.212992/https://insideevs.com/news/464084/tesla-model-3-model-y-heater-problem/https://forums.tesla.com/discussion/179743/model-y-heat-pump-manifold-failurehttps://forums.tesla.com/discussion/178224/model-y-will-not-heat-the-cabinhttps://forums.tesla.com/discussion/177562/cabin-heater-no-heattesla should be issuing a recall for this as it is a major safety issue.

The contact owns a 2021 tesla model y. The contact's wife was parking the vehicle, when it inadvertently plunged forward and rear-ended a vehicle causing that vehicle to hit another vehicle. The air bags deployed. No medical attention was required. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a lot for the insurance company to examine the damages. The manufacturer tesla contacted the contact right after the collision and informed the contact that it appeared the vehicle was involved in a collision and they would have their engineers look at the database. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was 300.

The contact owns a 2021 tesla model y. The contact stated that while attempting to park into a parking space at a very slow speed the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration. The contact indicated that the failure occurred while in a store parking lot and the vehicles speed had increased to approximately 50 mph. During the incident driverlost control of the vehicle and drove down an embankment before the vehicle stopped. No injuries were reported and no police report was taken. The vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet notified. The failure mileage was 600.

The driver side mirror cannot be angled left enough to display properly what's on the left side of the vehicle. As such, more than 1/3 of the mirror displays the car itself instead of potential other cars or objects on the rear left (see attached picture).there is a way to angle further the left the mirror if it is angled down. However this leads to a worst situation where we see only the ground next to the vehicle instead of cars or objects on the rear left.this is a recent issue introduced in model ys with auto-dimming mirrors only and i believe this will cause accidents if not already if tesla does not release a fix for this issue.

Wiper failure when set to automatic (rain-sensing) when vision system shut down due to poor visibility.a little background: i've been driving for 50+ years, about 1.5m total miles, most of it commuting.i'm a software engineer with 45+ years of experience, mostly in embedded systems.problem drive: most settings, including headlights and wipers, on auto.autopilot was on. Drove into a heavy rainstorm, auto wipers worked well, speeding up until they were on high. Traffic speed dropped from 70+ to less than 35 due to rain.drove into a band of torrential rain.saw a pop-up on the screen that said something like autopilot turning off due to diminished visibility.autopilot (speed control) then turned off.then the wipers shut off.let's see, guy designing vision system:can't figure out anything from camera images, so let's warn user and shut off stuff that relies on the camera.like autopilot.wipers?leave them in the last state?nah, turn off the enable signal to the auto wiper state, too.torrential downpour, almost no visibility, and my wipers just shut off.i frantically kept pressing the wiper button on the turn signal stalk to force a couple of swipes and force the wiper pop-up menu, then take my eyes off the road with possibly someone stopping right in front of me (yes, i slowed down) to do hand-eye coordination on the wiper pop-up to hit the manual setting full speed button!related to tesla model s/x recall for touchscreen failure disabling defog/defrost.proper design requires hard controls (not just touchscreen) for safety-critical items, like lights, wipers, defog/defrost.that's why a hard control for hazard flashers is required.i've spent years designing life-critical medical systems.they all have hazard mitigation matrix sections - analyze possible fault modes, assign chance of happening and severity of impact if they happen, then have a mitigation strategy.this seems to be a system design flaw

My defroster has failed for the second time. The car fails to provide heat in cold temperatures, suddenly and without warning. This presents a dangerous condition when driving in winter climates and results in the windshield icing up inside and out. I have been in constant contact with the dealer and they have replaced sensors. Now they have stated that the car performs as it should, and is made for warmer climates. The last time the failure took place, i was driving in a snowstorm and the windshield iced over, bad enough that the windshield wipers froze in place. I am also being told that the car must warm up for 45 minutes prior to driving, due to this condition. My car is no longer drivable when the tempi tire is below 15f without reasonable risk of becoming impaired. I have requested the service department to repair my car again, they have refused, stating it is normal operation for this model. Again, when on hi defrost in temperatures below 15f, the cars climate control cannot supply enough heat to properly keep the windshield clear.

Tesla added new auto-dimming mirrors if you adjust for a person 5'10" or above the mirrors don't adjust to see the left lane. It points down and to the right. I took delivery of vehicle and made formal complaint to delivery team on 11/27/2020. I went with senior service tech at the service center and all new delivery with these new mirrors do not adjust up and to the left for taller drivers. I have a previous vin without new auto dimming mirrors and does not have this safety issue. Have discussed with a multitude of owners with new mirrors and it is a very common issue. I have also attached others vehicles with same issue along with mine. Also someone has recorded video of it not being able to adjust at link here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umqa62ds4h4.while driving i have to hover over passenger seat and lower to be able to even see the left lane.

Driver side mirror won't go outward and up enough. I can't see anything in the next lane. Really dangerous for tall people like 6'00"

Heat doesn't work on new model ys. For cold climates this should be a huge issue. Cannot defrost windows. Can't get the cabin heat on could result in hypothermia if tire goes flat.this is a wide spread issue, apparently faulty sensors, and they're still producing with known problem.

The driver side mirror cannot extend to allow normal side view visibility. I am only 5'8" and at full outward electrical motor stop, about 1/3 of the mirror shows the car body. I have 55yrs of driving and never had a car with this limit. My wife, at 5'2" is able to get proper adjustment

I took delivery of a model y dec 27, 2020 and was concerned re the diver's side view mirror. I also enquired when a service call was needed for an unrelated issue soon after delivery.the mirror adjustments do not allow visualization of the lane on the left or to the rear without bending to the side and craning my neck. It creates an unsafe situation while driving and tesla says there is nothing wrong.i have tried every possible adjustment and it is a clear design flaw.i am 6 feet tall, so i am sure i am not alone in this issue.

The driver side mirror does not got far left or up enough. I am 5'11. I had another model y before this without the auto dimming mirrors. Did not have an issue at all with the mirror. Right now the mirrors i cannot see anything on my next lane on driver side. Nearly hit someone already because of this. Not sure if it is mirror assembly or the glass itself. But i imagine most likely something to do with how it is install. I think the mirror's initial setting is not placed correctly so the motor can't go past anywhere. The mirror also doesn't sit flush with the door and trim of the car.

My car's rear windshield got shattered on its own. It was parked outside more than 16 hours and its windshield broke on its own when no-one was inside the vehicle. When it shattered, we were near car only.this would have been disastrous if someone was sitting in the 3rd seat row, it could have fallen on them or would have impacted driving due to shattering noise. Vehicle inspection is still not completed by manufacturer.there was no other damage to windshield or no stone or any object was hit it. There were other people also around and they saw it got shattered on its own.i would be able to provide videos and photographs of the damage.

An independent tire shop and tesla both told me my rear passenger wheel is bent. The tire on that wheel has been slowly bleeding air for the last month or so. This vehicle has 9500 miles and is not driven recklessly whatsoever. The wheel is available for inspection - i have swapped it off for another. The vehicle now shakes when driven at highway speeds and is a problem that tesla and an independent tire store have both been unable to remedy. No warning lamps/lights/signals appear. This shaking suddenly started on 7/5, 2-3 weeks after the tire started bleeding air.

Heard a loud pop when turning wheel to put in reverse and park. Now one wheel points straight, one is turned.

I was changing lanes on the highway and my tire flew off the vehicle. Car lost control and slammed between railing and a large truck multiple times. Airbags did not deploy. Defective vehicle!
