The contact owns a 2017 tesla model x. While attempting to park the vehicle and apply the brakes at 5 mph, the vehicle picked up speed. As a result of the failure, the vehicle crashed into a school building. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who determined that the accelerator pedal was depressed to cause the collision. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified. There was no recall related to the failure. The vin was not provided. The approximate failure mileage was 800.

The contact owned a 2017 tesla model x.the contact's husband stated while driving 70 mph, a strange noise was heard coming from the rear driver side of the vehicle which resulted in the contact's husband losing control of the vehicle andcollided with the median which brought the vehicle to a stop. None of the air bags deployed but no one was inquired and a police report was taken. The vehicle was towed to a junkyard where it was determined to be destroyed. The contact stated no warning lights was illuminated. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.

Here is a model x in the junkyard:https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=27010294&rownumber=13&loadrecent=truethe suspension has collapsed on all four wheels.the air-bags have deployed because the car stopped abruptly when all four wheels jammed up in the wheel wells.there is no collision damage.the only damage to the car is self inflicted due to the suspension collapse.please investigate the reasons for these frequent failures in almost new cars.in this thread an owner reports a problem with the air suspension in a brand new car: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/my-model-s-100d-broken-immediately-after-i-took-delivery.104956/snip** not 3 minutes into my first drive, i was met with an error on the dashboard and center screen that said "air suspension needs service, contact tesla service". I decided to drive back to the delivery center and show them, but they weren't able to fix it. So 30 minutes into ownership of my brand new 100d and i was already driving it to the service center. They took the car at around 4 pm and it's 10:30 am the next day and haven't heard back yet.**please note that i am reporting these suspension complaints in the interests of public safety.a dummy usa address has been used to satisfy your website requirements but my correct name andemail address is supplied.i have been informed that it is legitimate for a non owner and non usa resident to file complaints.thank you.concerned citizen.

My car had an unintended acceleration when i was trying to park in the parking lot of my office. The car accelerated, jumped the parking curb and hit another parked car. My car suffered substantial damage, air bags were deployed and i escaped with minor bruises. The car which was i collided with was parked and did not have any passengers in it. Nobody else was injured.

The contact owns a 2017 tesla model x. The contact stated the mcu home screen intermittently failed to operate while driving at various speeds. The contact then received notification for nhtsa campaign number: 21v035000 (back over prevention, visibility, exterior lighting) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.

Main central display freezing, unresponsive.affects radio, rear view camera alert warning sounds. Requires to reboot for it to work. Newer model was equipped with 64gb memory card to solve the issue (currently has 8gb). Has happened in mltiple ocasiones.

This is happening once every few months that force me have to stopped on the road to reboot/deep rest the system. When its failed i loss view of rear camera, cannot operate hvac (defogging) light, and loss of the parking assistant support. However, when contact tesla for this issue they simply refuse to fix the defects emmc citing i have to provide specific date and time of failure, which is unreasonable unless the driver is already aware the detail of this defects and taking specific note for the occurrence. However, i luckily made a note for the occurrence at the time, but tesla still refuse to replace the defects unit citing they loss the log of my incident. Then, they pushed a software upgrade simply defer the problem from happening. Furthermore, in this pandemic situation, many people are trying to avoid of going out as much as possible. My point is their defects already cause materialized damage to the emmc, which has a fixed lifespan for the cycle of writes. It should be required a recall for these defects device will failed sooner or later.

The contact owns a 2017 tesla model x. While operating the vehicle, the backup camera malfunctioned and caused the vehicle to back into a second vehicle. While in reverse, the image displayed on the backup camera was a previous image rather than a live image and did not display what was actually behind the vehicle at the time of the crash. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 5,000.

Vehicle central touchscreen randomly "reboots" even while driving. Screen will go black and take 2-5 minutes to power back on. Screen also freezes up with increasing regularity (several times a week) forcing manual reboot.when rebooting backup camera, and audible parking sensor chimes are disabled. Also turn signal noise indicator is disabled. Date of incident istoday'sdate but issue has been ongoing and increasing in frequency for the past 12 months.

The car suddenly took over and accelerated beyond control while i pulled the car into a parking space. Front airbags were deployed and the front end of the car was damaged beyond repair. The car was totaled.

Vehicle not able to supercharge due to salvage title, vehicle was able to supercharge for a year and turned off with out notice or warning. Vehicle has not sustained damage to high voltage components and passed tesla high voltage system inspection. Notified supercharging is permanently disabled for both tesla and third party dc fast charging making it impossible to rode trip on the vehicle. I attached invoices for payed charging vehicle now not supercharging disabled.

Tesla advised me that the 8gb (emmc) in the media control unit is faulty which on two recent occassions caused me to expience a persistent center display or loss of the rearvies camera display, defrost/defog, and/or turn signal lighting, which may increease the risk of a crash. Tesla reports that they do not have the parts needed to fix the car for me. I have been dealing with this issue since january 2021.i had expected more from tesla.

The contact owns a 2017 tesla model x. While driving 15 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle would not restart when prompted. The contact called tesla roadside assistance and they remotely rebooted the computer system. The vehicle was able to restart. The contact called tesla burbank (811 south san fernando rd, burbank, ca, (818)480-9217) to notify them of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 7,500.

I have the mcu1 computer on my 2017 tesla model x. The turn signal stopped working and i had to reboot the computer. The car was in motion.

The contact owns a 2017 tesla model x. The contact stated that the rear tail lights on the trailer that was attached to the vehicle, failed to function as designed. To ensure that the failure was related to the vehicle and not trailer, the contact had the trailer attached to two separate friend's vehicles and the trailer lights worked on both vehicles. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 24,000.

This is a complaint about the tesla autopilot.here is a credible and easily verified report by a tesla owner in uk who has had a near death experience while on autopilot:https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/at-what-point-do-i-say-enough-is-enough.100508/**a few weeks ago, the car whilst in auto pilot suddenly swerved across the motorway into the middle lane. I caught it half way across. The motorway was perfect. (interestingly at a supercharger, i asked the guy next to me if this had ever happened to him, and he said 'funnily enough, it had and just that very day for the first time' (that's not a coincidence surely) this was the final straw so i sent it off. Sat nav, auto pilot, wont lock, returning to car with door open, doesn't present doors some of the time, doors don't close some of the time, screen goes black, etc etc etc. It acts with the consistency of a small child, yet its supposed to be software driven.the autopilot issue is my biggest concern. The guy i spoke to who said his had done the same that day, said his drove towards a lorry. I thought it wasn't supposed to do that as it has sensors? it was very windy that day so i wonder if that was anything to do with it, either way tesla were so concerned about it, they didn't even bother to take the details of this guy when i raised this issue to them.**even if the owner has his hands lightly on the wheel the power steering has sufficient power to wrench it out of his hands.this autopilot is half-baked and glitchy and the constant software tweaks are making it even more dangerous.no other car-maker would be allowed to conduct such a reckless experiment.please take action before more lives are lost.thank you.concerned citizen etc.

Main screen (instrumental panel)turns off and reboots while driving. The system reboots and all vehicle functions turn off and are inaccessible during the reboot process. Tesla service center stated it's a known issue. Happens frequently

I am experiencing issues with my mcu unit similar to what has been documented in odi engineering analysis ea20-003.i have observed the vehicle electronics and touchscreen fail 4 times in the last few months while driving. In the winter months in mn, this is extremely dangerous as it causes the hvac systems to turn off. The windows start to fog up and create a safety hazard.i have tried to report this issue to tesla, but they keep responding by saying they aren't able to detect any faults from the car, but also say that a future software update is expected to resolve the issue. I don't see how they can claim this will be resolved by a software update when they don't seem to understand the flaw causing this issue in the first place.

Mcu has been super slow and un-usable. Cant use it to make any calls or use voice commands. It is super slow and tend to fail soon and tesla is not ready to repair or replace it.other issue i have is, rattling sound while driving and tesla says its common. I do not expect this when i paid $90,000 for a car. It feels as if i am driving a cheap 20 year old car.

Tesla issued a recall for the mcu after i had the mcu replaced because it was failing.the screens in my car would go blank and i would have no idea how fast i was going while driving.the a/c wound shut off in the middle of the drive.i didn't have turn signals.these were all the reasons why the nhtsa ask tesla to issue a recall, and finally tesla agreed to this recall.tesla is however not reimbursing me for the replacement of the mcu.i have spent months trying to get tesla to honor their recall.i would like to be reimbursed for this recalled mcu that i had to pay for myself as it was a major safety issue.i would appreciate you help.

1.car taking longer to boot up when placing foot on brake pedal.2.large center console screen takes even longer to boot-up.this resulted in a dangerous situation where i was able to drive the car, but could not turn on the defroster.the windshield quickly fogged up and i had nearly zero visibility.thankfully, i was able to safely pull off the road and wait for the center console to eventually turn on,

The mcu on the vehicle has issues with it shutting down and going blank. Also many mcu functions aren't able to be used during these periods. There's been times a reset doesn't resolve the issue and tesla had to fix the vehicle. Tesla issued a warranty adjustment program to address this issue. The issues i'm experiencing are consistent with this notice, but they are refusing to resolve the issue as stated in the notice.https://www.tesla.com/support/adjusted-coverage-program?redirect=no&utm_source=iterable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=warranty_adjustment_program&utm_content=ownership&utm_locale=en_us&utm_term=20q4in the photos submitted it provides tesla's declining to repair the emmc, and tesla's acknowledgment that my issues are consistent to their notice. The video evidence is too large to send here, but i can send the video if needed.

My tesla model x 100 d 2017 has this big screen in center. After apx. 2,5 years the screen became less responsive, error message ('please wait until system has powered up'), 1-2 minutes before i could drive, trouble connecting via app, i could not initiate the navigation system. I then went to tesla service center, and they 'flushed the car' as they told me (meaning deleting address favorites, and i think also radio favorites). The car was as new again! but then i learned from tesla that this was related to the emmc (embedded memory card) solded on the main board on back of the screen. After talking with multiple others, it turns out that this is the famous emmc-failure of tesla: after multiple over writing of this card, it simply stop working. You cannot connect with app, and you have to replace this (and if out of warranty you have to pay apx usd 2-3000,- out of own pocket! however, more critically (beside the very negative fact that you in reality is having a very 'dumb' car, is that the car is not at all able to receive any updates (read 'corrections') related to security. This is clearly a huge design error on practically the brain of a tesla, and affects all model s and x up to 2018 when tesla realized this by them selves and introduced a new version of emmc. All version 1 of the emmc should be recalled and replaced by tesla.

The mcu (media control unit) also known as the infotainment center went out on my 2017 tesla model x. When this unit went out, i lost the ability to use the turn signals, the back up camera, most of the controls to change settings for the car and the car was no longer able to accept a charge. The car was in the driveway at home when this happened and i tried to schedule an appointment with tesla to get this resolved. They told me that the part was on back order and that they could not take the car in at the time. It would be about a month before they were able to get the part and that i could still drive the car. They also asked me to keep the car charged but i also let them know that the car is unable to do so at home. He asked me to take it to tesla supercharging station and try there. I let them know that my turn signals were no longer working and the technician told me that hand signals were still an acceptable form of vehicle direction/movement indication. Well, i took it to the supercharging station with the turn signals and rear camera not working and the car would not charge so i had to take it home again driving without turn signals on the freeway. I finally convinced them the car was not safe to drive and that the car would lose all its battery reserve before i they were able to take my appointment so the technician asked me to drive it into the san francisco tesla service center

1. Tesla provides owners manual in infotainment system to scroll. It is not opening at all, they are saying my combination of hardware(hw) and software(sw) is the reason and they have observed same issue in other cars too. Since oct 2020 fix for this issue has not come and they are saying a future sw upgade will fix this, but within a year my car warranty will be over. - i have attached tesla response, where they agreed they have 3 cars at nj location which have same hw configuration as mine, and all with my latest sw 2020.48.12. This is only 1 location, they have 466 service centersthe problem is not sw but it is because of poor mcu hw.2. Car taking longer to boot up when placing foot on brake pedal even when energy savings is disabled3. Large center console screen takes even longer to turn on. 4. While driving car center screen will suddenly blank out.

The computer screen went deadcan't turn on heat or ac, open side mirror or charge the car

On multiple occassions (sometimes while stationary and sometimes while moving), the media control unit (mcu) has become inoperable.if it occurs prior to a trip, this meant the vehicle would not drive for the several minutes it takes to perform a re-boot.when it occurred while driving, it meant that the following systems could not be used and/or adjusted: the rear view camera, the radio volume, the temperature control, the navigation system, and possibly others. I have provided tesla with time stamps of almost all failure events and taken the vehicle to their service centers 3 different times.although an aspect of this mcu (the "emmc") is known to be defective and the vehicle is under warranty, tesla has repeatedly refused to replace the mcu.instead they have, on the latest service appointment, indicated there are "fpga errors" and there is a "firmware bug" that is causing the problem and that this firmware bug will be addressed with a pending firmware update.in the meantime, they suggest performing a "re-boot" of the system every time it fails.i am worried that this may cause for an unsafe driving situation and hope that the nhtsa will compel tesla to recall vehicles from this era (from which the mcus are known to be defective).

Touchscreen failure in either complete black screen or unresponsive during driving. In additional, partial function loss of the instruction panels in the mean time. This is happening once every few months that force me have to stopped on the road to reboot/deep rest the system. When its failed i loss view of rear camera, cannot operate hvac (defogging) light, and loss of the parking assistant support. Furthermore i suspect this defects also renders my internal web browser unusable and covertly losing of navigation voice prompt.i aware the cause of this issue from nhtsa investigation ea-20-003.

Mcu failed twice, resulting in black screen while in operation.no rear camera, no ventilation control.tesla reports that i need to reset my trip counter every 2k miles to avoid this problem (see attached service report).this is a clear safety hazard.

I was driving and the screen went blank. Mcu touchscreen failure. Screen is blank. No response after multiple reset attempts.

My tesla screen is having the identical issues outlined in your request for recall.i've reached out to tesla 3 different times and they keep telling me to reset the screen. It last happened yesterday where my screen was completely blank for 15 minutes.obviously i have 0 controls for heat or shutting my garage backup cameras etc.it's infuriating that they don't want to own up to a stupid screen in a car that cost over $80,000.

I have had my vehicle for a little over 3 years and in this time i have had to take the vehicle in over 10 times.i have had multiple visits for both my in-car dash slow, freezing, or restarting and i have had 3 visits relating to what i believe is my suspension not working.mcu unit- this has stopped working while starting my car where the screen would not load as well as while in motion on city streets and highway where the unit will freeze.i have noticed it more often when on longer road trips but it has also happened during day to day activity.suspension: while under warranty i received a message saying there was an issue with my suspension, tesla diagnostics could not determine a problem but they proactively fixed a part. Not sure if this is known part that was failing but it was a proactive approach.months later i brought my vehicle in b/c it was making a loud motor noise, then hissing while the vehicle was stationary in my garage.i did not know at the time but i think this may have been the 1st signs of a leak in my suspension system.once again tesla could not diagnosis or recreate the problem. Less than a year later from that visit to the service center my vehicle would not raise or lower.there was no indication that it needed to be brought to the service center so initially i thought it may just be an issue because it was very cold outside.after taking it in again, tesla tried a repair that was going to cost about $500, the next day they told me the repair did not take and a much more expensive repair would be necessary about $6,000.the vehicle has less that 100,000 miles on it and i was concerned about the suspension failing as i have read a lot of information of other teslas having similar issues.without a 3-rd party to take it to in my area, i felt i had no choice but to pay the fee and let tesla fix it. Tesla discounted by 10%.

The contact owns a 2017 tesla model x. The contact stated while the vehicle was stationary in the garage and attempting to start-up the vehicle, the instrumental panel was inoperable. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

A recall was issued for the 8gb chip february of the 2021. After 6 service visits regarding this issue i scheduled an appointment for the recall fix. I was called during my appointment to say they can replace the chip but it wouldn't fix all of my problems. They requested i instead pay to upgrade the system at a price of 1250.00. I refused and asked them to perform the recall fix. They then messaged me 5 hours later that my car was ready for pickup and did not qualify for the recall fix. Understand that my appointment was rescheduled by tesla three times as they stated they were waiting on the part. They had over a month to review the notes on my car. I was told it qualified and to bring it in. Then it was bait and switch. Give us money. So nothing was fixed. They did not perform the fix under the recall. The problem persists. The is not just an annoyance, it is a safety issue. The screen randomly reboots while driving and takes 14 minutes to turn back on. Turn signals come on a minute after the turn is complete. This is absolutely unacceptable.

The mcu is not starting up

I took possession of a used tesla 2017 model x directly from tesla used sales on saturday 11/28.within 2 days (by mon 11/30), the central console/computer went completely black and the car lost all ability to self-drive, use media, climate control, lighting, and, from a most concerning safety stand-point, all camera including rear-view.this problem was reported to tesla on 12/1 and no solution has been forthcoming.in scanning the internet, this seems to be a serious reoccuring problem with the central mcu computer console.the car is drive-able but without safety precautions or functionality in even the most basic of operations.

Mcu and touchscreen are extremely slow to respond and need constant reboots to unfreeze.i spoke to tesla service about replacing the mcu or the emmc under their new warranty program but they keep telling me they have tempted into the car and fixed the issue by clearing the memory. It's a temporary fix as the issue returns in a few days.

The 17-inch touchscreen periodically goes blank or does not come on when car is started.this occurs randomly while car is stationary or in motion.

There was a recall for tesla model s and x with mcu1 to have the emmc card upgrade necessary to keep the unit running or for those that had to upgrade the emmc or the mcu1 replaced with with an mcu2 before the recall would be reimbursed.i was contacted by tesla about the reimbursement and i completed the necessary forms.i was later contacted by tesla and informed i didnā€™t meet the criteria.i asked for reasons why and they told me to contact my service center.as i have been to the service center 25 times i understand that they will just look at the invoice.so i did this on my own and see that when i had to replace my mcu1 with an mcu2, they listed it as an upgrade.at the time, i didnā€™t think much of it being listed as an upgrade, but it was the only option communicated to me by tesla at that time.i had no choice in order to make my model x safe to drive.upgrading the emmc was not an option presented to me.i am requesting that tesla reconsider my request for reimbursement as i feel i meet the requirements of the recall.additionally, when i needed to install the mcu2 to make my car safe to drive, the fm/xm radio feature that i paid for when i purchased the car was removed.six months later the option to add the radio back at my expense was another $500.i am seeking reimbursement from tesla for the cost of the mcu and radio for a total cost of $3000 plus tax.

Experienced intermittent touchscreen lock up and self reboots resulting in loss of rear view camera, hvac control functionalities, and feedback sound/indicator for turn signals.entertainment(radio) controls were also locked out.

The vehicle unusually accelerates when it is fully charged. Also, tesla committed tounlimited supercharging for life regardless of any ownership transfer but now refusing to adhere to their commitment.

I have had regular issues with my car's bluetooth systems since december, 2020. The only way i've been able to resolve this issue is by resetting my car (holding down both steering wheel buttons). The service center has asked me to reset the car multiple times, delete all connected bluetooth profiles, and completely reset the car's electronics. None of these fixes has worked.it still fails every 5-10 days. I am going to leave it in a non-functioning state next time this happens so that they are forced to look at it in person. They always try to diagnose things remotely, but are unable to do so when it is in a non-functioning state. It appears this also affects the car's cellular and wifi connectivity.

Touch screen extremely sluggish, sometimes unresponsive during driving trip, losing many active safety features such as forward collision warning, side collision warning, rear view camera, active navigation leading to distractions from trying to use alternative hand phone navigation.lost speedometer function while driving as shown on image below making driving unsafe.image below showed driving on a city street while both control screens center and driver side became frozen leading to panicking distractions. Car often slow to boot up or wake up, taking several minutes, in order to be drivable.this situation may become unsafe in case of real emergency requiring to drive the vehicle immediately

The contact owns a 2017 tesla model x. The contact stated that the vehicle abruptly shut-off intermittently while driving at various speeds, without warning. The contact had taken the vehicle to a tesla service center and was informed that the dealer was aware of the failure however, there was no remedy for the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken in for a software update however, the failure returned a month after the update was performed. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000. The vin was not available

I bought my 2017 tesla model x from tesla dealership last week with less than 8k on it. After two days while driving the main screen blackout, freak me out since electric car is new to me. A few days later, picking up my little son from school the screen froze up and i could control anything on the screen. This is very dangerous and i have contacted tesla service center, they told me it's being investigated and no recall have been called. My car is still under warranty, if it's a know problem they should have replace the main screen for me before selling it. Please help.

The mcu is failing, its slow, freezes and has yellow borders.

My mcu is starting to fail. My vehicle was built in 03/2017 and i have 50,000 miles. The mcu has become slower and less responsive over time. On 7/28/20 my mcu became completely responsive while driving and required me to stop the vehicle so that i can perform the 2 button reset. I lost air conditioning during this time for about 2 minutes and it was 100 degrees outside. I fear my mcu will fail completely soon and i will lose vital controls of the car including turn signals. The mcu is faulty by design of the 8gb emmc module which has limited write cycles and tesla uncessarily logging useless information to it for many years.

I am the owner of a 201x tesla model x. The "center screen" in this car is central to the use of many safety functions of the car, such as the reverse camera, headlight controls, defroster controls, and turn signal chimes. The screen in my car has become highly unreliable, often locking up, rebooting, or failing to respond, causing the aforementioned functions to be unavailable. It is my observation that these functions worked well in the past when the vehicle was originally delivered, but have degraded over time as tesla has pushed software updates to my car.i have discussed this issue with tesla and am aware of the proposed nhtsa recall of the center screens due to a emmc flash wear out issue. Tesla has assured me that this is not the issue with my car, and has requested that i wait for future software updates to resolve these issues. However, it is my observation that software updates have continuously made this situation worse, and tesla has offered no specific date on which this will be resolved. This is unacceptable for safety functions of a vehicle.i request that you investigate the scale of tesla "mcu1" center screen issues beyond the emmc flash issue and work with tesla to make sure this is resolved quickly for the 150,000 owners of these vehicles.

The 17 inch screen keep going off while driving and unable to defrost windshield also hvac doesn't work doing driving when this display 17 inch screen go blankthis may be related to previous report on the 8 gb memory on the 17 inch screen displays gone bad my car had only 40,000 mile when this happened it's still under warranty but have asked tesla to help and they were not helpingthe car still under warranty

The car has 2 displays, a dash display and an "infortainment" display. Both worked great when new. All vehicle status is displayed on them, and most vehicle controls are available only through them. Over time, they have become problematic. They will spontaneously reboot at any time (while parked in the garage, driving under varied conditions, etc) which can make them unavailable for up to 3 minutes, or even worse they will freeze displaying the wrong information until the driver notices and manually reboots them. For a while, this would happen roughly every 10 minutes while driving, and meant we could lose navigation while in an unfamiliar area, lose the backup camera, access to hvac controls including defogger, etc. It is usually more of an annoyance, but with such frequency it is extremely annoying at best, and given the random timing it could be a safety issue as well.we have had 4 appointments to address this. They have made a couple of changes that have reduced the frequency of the problems. But they still occur, unless we completely stop using major features including navigation and teslacam. The fact that they largely disappear with some changes indicates that these are not due to the known emmc problems that are already under investigation. These are firmware bugs related to navigation, usb handling, processor overload due to new features, etc. Tesla claims they will be fixed, but cannot give us a date. This has been going on for about a year. We have this problem almost every time we drive the car more than just a few miles.owners online indicate this is a common problem with model x and s built before march 2018 with the mcu1 computer. It is clear that tesla service technicians are familiar with the problems, as they are giving similar explanations to owners all over the country. Yet the firmware bugs are still not fixed.

Main control unit (mcu1) fails daily. It was first replaced within 2-4 months of purchased because of the black screen of death. Will lose ac, navigation, car lock, and many other things that make the car work properly. Tesla continues to delay any repair for years. This must be.my 6th or 6l7th times bring in the car for repair which they do not seem to repair.

The touch screen turns off at random times. I could be parked, driving, turning. Happening with more frequency, then they pushed an over the air update, but now it's back.

The car suddenly took over and accelerated beyond control while i pulled the car into a parking space. Front airbags were deployed and the front end of the car was damaged beyond repair. The car was totaled.

I was driving home in my model x on lawrence expressway (8-lane expressway) in santa clara, ca and stopped at the red light. When the light turned green, i pushed on the gas and noticed that the car did not move and put itself into park. I could not put the car into gear. The main screen flashed several warnings that included:park assist unavailableautomatic emergency braking disabled.car needs servicetraction control disabled.stability control disabled.i put on the blinkers, called tesla roadside and they asked that i restart the vehicle by holding the 2 control buttons on the steering wheel, however by doing so, would stop the blinkers from blinking. I felt that would've been unsafe because i was in lane 2 heading southbound on an 8-lane expressway, and cars were coming from behind me pretty fast. Roadside asked that i call 911, which i did, and they then sent a tow truck to get me out of my situation.video of what happened located herehttps://youtu.be/9i9sghtmd7c

Tesla touchscreen functions become missing, screen goes blank, no rearview camera and the ability to turn on and off defroster settings and headlights become missing.

The touchscreen went black while driving causing the lights to go out. The screen has gone out multiple times over the past 6 weeks requiring rebooting.each time the screen goes out more features are affected.

Battery range has significantly and suddenly dropped. While tesla has stated this is 'normal battery degradation,' it appears through research this may be software limited, due to recent battery fires which are life threatening. Instead of admitting the safety issue, recalling the battery, and ensuring a safer battery is installed, tesla is updating software opaquely. This is for a model x 75d with a 75 kwh battery, and seems to have begun with firmware 2019.32 onward.

This is a complaint about the tesla batteries which are the subject of an nhtsa investigation.i do not have information on the actual vin of the car in question so i have had to substitute the vin from one of the many teslas in a junkyard.here is a report from a tesla owner in australia who is getting even worse service than is normal for tesla.https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/warranty-does-anyone-have-their-warranty-terms-from-2017.172151/ *** snip*** warranty - does anyone have their warranty terms from 2017discussion in 'australia' started by csl2c3000, today at 6:36 pm.location:melbourne, australia csl2c3000, today at 6:36 pmhi,i have had an issue which relates to low voltage and so i've spoken to tesla who've said that the car needs a new battery pack and it is not covered by warranty. They looked at remote logs and concluded this without an inspection. The cost of the replacement is $50k inc and there appears to be no potential for a single battery bank to be at fault (based upon what they've said). They've quoted the current version of the warranty to me but my legal guys say that the terms that apply are those that applied when the car was sold, not the current terms. They've asked me to try to track down the original warranty.the car is a cp 04/17, built 07/17, tesla, model x, 75d.i was wondering if anyone has a warranty from 2017? specifically the clause related to battery pack warranty.thanking you ******i believe that your investigation should be extended to cover teslas that have been sold outside of usa.these battery failures and potential fire risks apply to all teslas sold across the world.thank you for looking into this matter.concerned citizen etc.

The computer screen went deadcan't turn on heat or ac, open side mirror or charge the car

While driving in autopilot my mcu (tesla controller) occasionally fails. This means the autopilot computer works fine but all audio notifications do not work. The autopilot will change lanes for me without the normal auditory notification. Turn signals are silent. The mcu will then completely freeze (no touch input and gps frozen while driving) requiring either a manual reboot by myself or it crashes completely and reboots itself.5 visits to my service center in the past 13 months of ownership to address this issue have not resulted in a resolution. They tell me they "flashed the storage" or "upgraded the firmware" but the car continues to prove this did not resolve the issue. Autopilot functioning without notifying the user of maneuvers could be deadly. It is a self driving car but still requires drivers to pay attention and take over if autopilot makes a faulty decision.i have videos of this happening.attached i have uploaded invoices from the service center showing i have brought mcu failure issues to them on multiple occasions and continue to have issues. Note that line item 14 on the invoice dated 01132021 tesla inaccurately states my no audio on automatic lane change issue. I requested they rephrase this issue to the issue i reported but they refuse to put this in writing. Why? suspicious.

I'm not from the us, but want to let you know that there are also safety problems with model x cars in europe.my car, a tesla x from april 2017 with 93.682 kilometers driven broke down with a broken suspension part. It happened also driving slowly forward. The big ring on the end ofthis part (the site that is connected close to the wheel) was completely torn open. Tesla also had to replace the left and right fr susp aft link assy because of "wear and tear". Upper control arm were already replaced in june 2020. Here is a discussion about the dangers of the rear seats in the model x:https://forums.tesla.com/forum/forums/concern-about-head-injury-third-row-seatingsnip**the third row seats are clearly exceedingly dangerous for medium-tall passengers. It is just a matter of time (if it has not happened already) that someone is killed or suffers devastating neck injuries from this seating/roof design. The problem is that someone can sit 'comfortably' in that seat and think they are safe, but in even a minor frontal crash their forehead would strike the rear hatch-window-frame cross member, violently rotating the head backwards, breaking the person's neck. Tesla 'cleverly' used the glass hatch roof to allow more headroom with a lower aerodynamic roof, but this just means people might sit in this seat who are too tall to survive there in even a minor frontal impact accident. Tesla should have a disclaimer (height restriction?) about this issue.**the thread also discusses the danger to children in a booster seat.it appears that the authorities are permitting tesla to self regulate in these matters of safety. Owners have the belief that tesla is the safest car in the world and that tesla can be trusted to do the right thing.i am of the opinion that such faith is not justified.please investigate to prevent someone being killed or rendered quadriplegic.thank you.concerned citizen.

I took my 3 year old son to the tesla showroom in fashion island newport beach ca. My son sat in the 3rd row trying it out, then he tried to exit from the side.then he accidentally pressed on the button on the second row seat. The seat moved back smashing his head against the side of the door.his whole head and neck and shoulder was stuck inbetween the seat and the side of the door for over a minute, until we were able to pull him out of there.he got bruises on the cheek, and left ear was bright red from the impact.

When the car is parked then put in reverse, the car makes a loud cracking noise. I was told it was brakes that were cleaned up but still make a loud noise.

The vehicle experienced a multiple-system failure.warning lights indicated loss of steering assist, loss of cruise control, loss of braking assist, and other safety features.a reset of the computer rectified the issue, but only temporarily, and the software fails again and again.in failure mode, which comes on unpredictably, the brakes make a terrible grinding sound and are not as effective in stopping the car.this is a major safety concern.the onset of these failures is usually when the car is moving and occurs randomly.

This is a complaint about the tesla autopilot.here is a freshly uploaded video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jllupsvgj4the owner drives hands free on an undivided road whilst using both hands to eat a burger. This is not merely a case of stupidity it is a direct consequence of the marketing of autopilot by tesla.the very name autopilot is dangerously misleading, other makers call their systems "driver assist" or "lane-keeping assist" the widely publicised claim that tesla autopilot is 40% safer than a human driver is further encouragement for owners to use this in a dangerous fashion.during this video the car takes a sudden swerve over the centre-line just after the owner has finished eating his burger.the owner thinks that this is all a great joke.i agree, tesla autopilot is a joke, but not in a good way.please stop this dangerous experiment before more lives are lost.i have attached a photograph of a fatal crash that has just happened in china.https://www.reddit.com/r/teslamotors/comments/6raud3/another_accident_in_china_involving_an_tesla/?st=j5z9ztcw&sh=61e3b47dit is possible that this fatal crash was caused by autopilot. Please ask tesla to provide further details and ask them to prove beyond any dispute that the crash was not caused by autopilot. It seems that after every crash tesla claim that the autopilot was disengaged at the actual moment of impact.well, they would say that wouldn't they?please note that i am not the owner of this vehicle just a concerned citizen.dates of incidents are an approximation. Details of fatalities are an estimate based upon the blood and brains splattered over the tesla.

I have been advised that it is preferable that owners file their own complaints of defects. Unfortunately the owner of this tesla has not responded to my request that he does file a complaint. This is probably because he knows that if he does complain his tesla may be devalued and he risks being blacklisted by the company.the attached photographs show yet another fractured suspension arm.the owner is identifiable from the photographs and it would be very easy for nhtsa to contact him and obtain the broken part for inspection.it would also be very easy to trace the tesla service center records.here is the text of the complaint that the owner has posted on twitter.his photographs of the fractured parts are included with this submission.please investigate this. It is not an isolated incident. It is a design and manufacturing defect..**@elonmusk @tesla my tesla x ((easily)) fell apart. My ((family)) was in the car. Here is a complaint posted on the tesla forum about a total loss of power steering:https://forums.tesla.com/forum/forums/broken-power-steeringsnip** my wife called today to tell me her new tesla x had an error light that said service and power steering assist may be limited. I called my local center to inquire as to what to do next. I asked if the car was driveable, as at that time the steering seemed to be working fine. They said go for it, they'd look at the logs and get back to me. Sure enough on my way home from an errand with my 3 kids in the car, the steering stopped working. Thank god it was me driving, as there would be no way my wife would have been able to turn the wheel at all. I drove home carefully. After some research it seems this is an issue several others have gone through. Many have noted a loose ground or other power connection issue. I find it unbelievable that i could find this out in a few moments on google, but when calling tesla service, they told me to go ahead and drive the car. When i called them back, and let them know their advice could have killed me or at least gotten me into an accident, i did not get much in the way of a response.**this same failure is being discussed on many of the tesla forums.this is unacceptably dangerous.please take urgent action to protect lives.thank you.concerned citizen.

When the car is parked then put in reverse, the car makes a loud cracking noise. I was told it was brakes that were cleaned up but still make a loud noise.

The specific issue happen while i was i was pulling out of my driveway. The front passenger side suddenly started squeaking. After getting on the highway and accelerating, the car started shaking, and making louder and louder noises.inspecting the assembly next to the front passenger side tire, i saw that the control arm assembly was making metal on metal contact and the wheel was not horizontally in place (it wiggles on steering). I took the car to the service center. They confirmed that the control arm assembly is corroded and that the issue could cause an accident if it happens while driving as i could lose steering control.

In june of 2020, the lower u-joint near the steering rack encountered a failed bearing making the car extremely difficult to turn for 90 degrees of steering wheel movement, free for 90 degrees, hard for 90 degrees, and free for 90 degrees.this occured at approximately 68,000 miles and 2.5 years of ownership.before this was diagnosed, it made the car dangerous to drive and almost caused an accident when my wife was driving when it first occured.

When driving at 40 miles an hour three times the car will lock up and pull into the right lane.each time there has not been another vehicle in the right lane next to me but i'm afraid to drive the car for fear that when this happens i will hit the car next to mei have complained to tesla and they cannot fix the problem.at this time i"m afraid for my life and the life of others.this happens on el camino in san carlos.i cannot take a picture because i'm driving.

On 4th, june, 2017, i was driving this 2-month-old tesla model x. While i was making a turn at one of the downward passage in a carpark, the steering wheel could not move all of a sudden, and a warning popped up saying car need service/steering assist reduced. Then a while later the steering wheel could move again allow me to finish the turn, but then stopped working again leaving me stuck in the car park. Their technician replied that this had happened to a number of model x cars but only while parked and not during driving.after inspection, the technician replied that the power wire for the assist steering wheel has had bad electrical contact. This was due to a loosen screw which fix the position of that power wire. The cause could be that the screw is not tight before delivery, or due to vibration when driving on the road. Then they told us the screw is now tightened and the car is ready for pickup.i think this is a very serious life-threatening problem. Imagine if you drive on a highway and the wheel suddenly stop when you make a turn! we told them that this car model is unsafe and could cause danger to the general public, what if this problem cause any accident. They only replied the car is under warranty. And they offer no refund, no exchangemoreover, given this is a new car, there should be not any wear out problem. However, there was a metal bar under the car seat which was rusted (file in a separate complain). Their technician replied that it is due to the humidity. Could that happen to other metal parts of the car, such as screw?according to other car technicians, other vehicles do not have such weakness (requiring a screw for powering the steering wheel). Could that be a design problem?note: although this car is purchase outside of the america, the same model car in the u.s. May have the same safety problem. I am just notifying.

The contact owns a 2017 tesla model x. The contact stated that at start-up, the steering wheel failed to operate as needed causing the vehicle to be difficult to steer. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken tesla (530 n state rt 17, paramus, nj 07652, (201) 225-2544) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the u-joint needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vin was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

My only complaint is the 'autosteer' feature. It's unclear why this is considered an option and it certainly does not function as described when i checked it off as a 5000.00 option under 'enhanced autopilot' when ordering my tesla. The system is dangerous, not ready for beta testing and certainly shouldn't be used on public roadways or with anyone you value in the car. I can see it being testing on closed roadways by skilled professional drivers but outside of that it is dangerous to engage at any speed. On surface streets it crosses over into oncoming traffic, drives like a drunk, is apt to pick up the left turn lanes, is confused by simple intersections, fails to see other cars cutting directly in front of it, attempts to follow parked cars, cannot stay in its own lane and fails to pick up pedestrians and motorcyclists.at freeway speeds it slams on brakes for shadows, makes a decision to violently abort lane changes for no apparent reason and comes so close to sideswiping other cars that the other drivers frequently honk.of course i keep my hands on the wheel and i'm a more vigilant driver while using this feature. I stopped using it with my 6 year old son in the car and i've now decided to stop using it even when i'm driving alone.i gave it a chance to improve with time (over 3k miles on the car) and the recent updates and have taken it to the dealer twice but this has not improved the functioning. Again, all of this is fine for testing on a closed track but the precious seconds spent correcting this feature and the dangerous situations it puts us in are a real hindrance to operating this vehicle safely. I'm disappointed by this feature and i firmly believe this should be pulled from the fleet and reintroduced only when it's properly tested and safe. Monies spent on this option should be refunded until it actually works.

We have 2 model x vehicles. The 2017 x100d developed serious bumping and grinding issues in its left front steering rack assembly during slow turns. It needed to be replaced. There was zero indication of damage to the vehicle or impact to the vehicle from outside forces. There was a less-than-pin sized puncture to the rubber boot, visible only by severely stretching the rubber apart, and the lubricating oil was gone. Tesla service claimed the pinhole sized damage to the steering rack's rubber boot was caused by outside forces. I was charged $1,600.00. Given tesla's model s recall for the same issues, i retained the malfunctioning steering rack and had it inspected by 2 independent auto repair shops: wheelworks and aamco. In both cases, without removing the boot, the opinion of both auto repair shops was that the pin hole damage to the boot could definitely not have been caused by external forces. The damage could only have resulted from internal damage to the steering column joint spinning out a shard of steel, and subsequent extremely slow drainage of the lubricating oil.this tesla had its 2 year service performed about 6 months ago.two days after this steering assembly repair issue, the tesla was again back in the repair shop because of a loud creaking noise coming from the right front end. Tesla mechanics originally thought it was a creaking seat, and then thought it was a creaking suspension. It was ultimately determined that the problem was the right front upper ball joint. There was no lubricating oil in the protective boot, and no damage to the boot. The ball joint needed to be replaced. This ball joint was repaired under warranty, yet tesla persists in refusing to reimburse for the $1,600.00 steering assembly replacement necessitated by the same absence of lubricating oil, similar again to the model s recall.

The contact owns a 2017 tesla model x. The contact stated while exiting the driveway and attempting to make a turn, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring and the steering wheel would continually go from difficult to maneuver to loose while driving. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

Front passenger door mechanism doesnā€™t function properly .door only opens when pulling on interior door handle. Service department stated itā€™s a common problem with the door actuators failing and it needs to be replaced.

Vehicle was summon to enter garage and hit the right side of the garage door frame causing damage to the house, side mirror, and shatter the front quarter passenger window. The summons feature does not yet work!

The car suddenly took over and accelerated beyond control while i pulled the car into a parking space. Front airbags were deployed and the front end of the car was damaged beyond repair. The car was totaled.

When the car is parked then put in reverse, the car makes a loud cracking noise. I was told it was brakes that were cleaned up but still make a loud noise.

I believe tesla has designed and installed defective upper control arm, joints, and bushings that do not support the weight of the vehicle.i have experienced a slight gliding of vehicle in addition to creaky and clangy sounds emitting from the front suspension.the gliding occurs during 30-45 mph, and the noises occur at slow speeds.my vehicle currently has 22k miles on it and have been driven under normal conditions.

Here is a model x in the junkyard.https://www.copart.com/lot/61279099/photosit has not been in a crash, no damage to the bodywork and no air-bags deployed.the reason that it is an insurance write off is that the air suspension has collapsed forcing the wheels up into the arches and damaging the weel well liners.the ludicrous thing is that teslas do not have any limit stops on the air suspension.a simple air leak can cause this failure which in many cases it then results in the wheel jamming up and wrenching off the suspension twiglets.what are you waiting for?how many more deaths do you need?are you guys just scared of elon musk?i'm not.yours in disgustkeef

There has been a fatal tesla crash in mountain view california.the photographs which i have attached shows the lh front wheel has been sliced in half and is lying on the ground on the lh side of the barrier.the tire of the tesla is lying on the ground.it is impossible that the wheel could have been sliced in half by a collision with the barrier. The wheel has been sliced through by a broken suspension component jamming into the inside of the wheel while it was rotating just as though it was turning on a lathe and had a tool forced into it. There can be no doubt that this wheel was sliced before hitting the barrier.there is a single wheel skid mark just before the crash site.since the tesla has abs which should prevent wheel lock up and since this is just a single wheel skid mark it is almost certain that this was the start of the sliced wheel event.i would not be so certain of this if not for the fact that several identical cases have been identified and the details have been reported to nhtsa previous to this fatal crash.please look up reports #11080798#10957436 #11042736 #11040822the only other cases of car wheels getting sliced in half that i can find on the web are just a very few old model cars that have been badly maintained or repaired.for this sort of failure to be happening on near new tesla cars is simply unacceptable.i have file many reports of broken tesla suspensions and many of those could easily have caused a sliced wheel.i am not filing these reports frivolously.i am trying to prevent further loss of life.please take action immediately.thank you.

Here is a model x in the junkyard:https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=26559880&rownumber=38&loadrecent=trueit has been involved in a major front end collision and is listed as bio-hazard which means that occupants have been injured.the front end is badly damaged but the rear end of the car is completely undamaged except for the fact that the lh back wheel has gone totally whompy.it is extremely likely that the whompy wheel was the cause of the crash and not simply a result of impact damage.the wheel and tire are completely undamaged as is the rear of the car.it is almost impossible that the whompy wheel was caused by an impact since the wheel would be expected to break before the suspension fell apart if the suspension was built to normal automotive standards.please do not continue to give tesla the benefit of the doubt.a recall for these fragile and defective suspension components is long overdue.thank you.concerned citizen.date of incident is an approximation.speed and injuries are an approximation based upon the photographic evidence.vehicle is available for inspection at the junkyard.

Model x in the junkyard.https://www.copart.com/lot/57745099/photosback suspension fallen to bits. Wheel and tire hardly damaged at all.when's the recall?

Here is a model x in the junkyard.https://www.copart.com/lot/56259179/photosit has not been in a crash, no airbags have been deployed.the only slight problem is that the back wheel has gone totally whompy.why no recall?any other make of car that had even a small number of such suspension breakages would have been recalled long ago.please take immediate action.thank you.keef

The rear camber arms of both tesla model s and x suspension have fixed camber angle that only grows wider as the time passes, that would cause the inner side of tires to wear out more rapidly than the mid or outer tire sides. Tesla doesnā€™t offer a camber arm that is adjustable in order to fix this alignment issue. Due to this the tires blow out prematurely and can potentially cause severe accidents. Tesla doesnā€™t acknowledge this as a design defect to replace this as safety problem, hence i am reporting it here to investigate the matter.

When turning the wheel and backing up into a parking spot at my work, there was a loud thud/pop near the front left tire. I was traveling 1-5 mph since i was being careful with my new car. This car was purchased not more than 48 hours before from a tesla dealership. On the day that we bought it and drove it home the car was shaking so bad we had to move the kids car seats to the back of the car. That same day we set up a service appointment to get that issue fixed while not driving the car because we were afraid there were tire problems. The dealership looked over other issues as well before we left but said since the service department was closed that day we would have to come back sometime in the future.

The car shudders when accelerating. I have had the front half shafts replaced twice and now the shudder is back again. They say they are aware of this, as well as the noise that the steering mechanism makes, and the fact that the model x wipers don't work, but i have to pay to get all these things fixed since it's out of warranty.

Here is a recently uploaded video in which a tesla owner complains ofexcessive vibration from the front wheels of his model x:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkcql5l-nj4he is on the phone to tesla who advise that engineering is working on the problem but there is not yet a fix available.he is assured that the car is perfectly safe to drive (yeah..right!).given the large number of cars that have experience sudden breakage of suspension components i believe that at the very minimum the car should be taken in for a safety inspection.if an owner reports abnormal vibration it is utterly reckless to tell that customer it is nothing to worry about.there is no guarantee that the car will not soon experience a catastrophic failure.no other car-maker would be foolish enough to place lives at risk in such a fashion.comments on that video prove that other owners are also experiencing the same problem.please take action immediately.thank you.concerned citizen.

I'm not from the us, but want to let you know that there are also safety problems with model x cars in europe.my car, a tesla x from april 2017 with 93.682 kilometers driven broke down with a broken suspension part. The wheel was moving for- and backwards compared to the vehicle. Tesla cals the part fore link assy lh (1041570-00-b). When parking the car in reverse, the front a the car came up for 5 centimeters. It happened also driving slowly forward. The big ring on the end ofthis part (the site that is connected close to the wheel) was completely torn open. Tesla also had to replace the left and right fr susp aft link assy because of "wear and tear". Upper control arm were already replaced in june 2020. Rear motor replaced januari 2018, electronics for opening front doors replaced in march 2020, new power steering april 2020.i like you to invite the also look at suspension safety issues in europe with the model x and s.these issues have nothing to do with road conditions, we have very nice smooth roads here in the netherlands. I made a video of the movement of the front left wheel.

On tesla model s and model x there is an issue with a memory card within mcu1.it was not designed to handle the amount of logging that the linux operating system for the makes.tesla is aware of this an is offering owners to upgrade to mcu2 for a cost of $2,500.this is not failure due to age.it is a failure due to poor electronic design.when it happens varies on many factors, but will happen typically before 100,000.when the mcu1 fails, the car cannot be operated.additionally , the mcu2 upgrade removes radio features that were available on mcu1.the reason for this is that tesla does not want to offer an adapter cable and new tuner unit.mcu1 came with an analog radio. Mcu2 works with their newer digital radio.all that is needed is to provision the radio in the mcu2 unit via the tesla toolbox software, install the new radio and install an adapter cable that takes power from the analog radio harness, connects to the new radio for power and ethernet data, and then connects the ethernet from the radio to mcu2.here are some links to shops that offer repairs for the mcu1 and are fully aware of the issue and some videos that speak to the issue.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=akgdtfsgmiyhttps://insideevs.com/news/376037/tesla-mcu-emmc-memory-issue/amp/https://057tech.com/services/tesla_mcuhttps://evtuning.com/products/emmc-repair-upgrade-for-model-s-and-xhttps://www.google.com/amp/s/insideevs.com/news/376037/tesla-mcu-emmc-memory-issue/amp/although, no owner can expect a vehicle to last forever, it is unreasonable that mcu1 doesn't last for the life of the car and tesla should offer a free cost replacement either the radio option.they should not have the right to remove a function that came with the vehicle.i appreciate any help you can provide.sincerely,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *cc

I've owned this car for 3 years. First four months i had to change out screens 3 times. Still having issues with screen non stop. Every time i bring in they say they fixed or replaced. Still not working and dangerous when it just goes blank!! it turns off idle and when moving... Scary when moving!!

Why? suspicious.

Main screen (instrumental panel)turns off and reboots while driving. The system reboots and all vehicle functions turn off and are inaccessible during the reboot process. Tesla service center stated it's a known issue. Happens frequently

I state that tesla new about tesla enhanced autopilot system malfunctioning long time ago but did not do anything to prevent accidents. Monday, september 5, 2017 at 2:27-2:28 pm my tesla enhanced autopilot system malfunctioned. I was driving on left lane of a straight part of i-280 north without any turns at that moment, with clear view and no vehicle in front of my car. After using autopilot for 20 min my car suddenly moved left and then immediately moved to the right. I was holding hands on the wheel and took wheel control. In 2 minutes after restarting autopilot, my car moved suddenly left and then right, moving to the right lane.i took control quickly, but the only reason the accident was avoided because the driver of suv on the next lane. He hit the brakes and changed lanes to escape the accident. I reported to tesla service requesting a full investigation and uninstall autopilot system from my car.my car was in their service for a month.finally, they did not denied that my car had changed lines on autopilots system without warning but stated that the 'car had worked as designed '.i requested a computer log for my car but was told that i could get it only though a court order. I received my car back and never used autopilot system again. I am a doctor and feel that i am obligated to report tesla to you to safe somebody life and to prevent new tragedy.

Experienced intermittent touchscreen lock up and self reboots resulting in loss of rear view camera, hvac control functionalities, and feedback sound/indicator for turn signals.entertainment(radio) controls were also locked out.

The large screen in my tesla occasionally goes completely black and stops functioning. When this happens my rear view/ back up camera goes black, my heating and air condtitioning shuts off, my radio and blue tooth shuts off. I can still drive the car but is very limited. This can last for 5 minutes or up to 15 minutes. I cannot predict when this will happen. Sometimes it happens multiple times during the same days, other times a week will go by without it happening. Tesla contacted me about this and offered a fix: they would under warranty install a new emmc chip and that this would solve the problem.i did this, tesla had my car for a week and they performed the fix. It did not work and my screen continues to malfunction, it is very unsettling.this can, and has happened multiple times when i am: driving on the highway, driving through my neighborhood, driving with my kids in the car, and when i first start the car up in the morning. I have attached 2 photos i took when this happened 2 separate times in the last 24 hours. Both times i was driving when it occurred . This is after i have had the repair that was supposed to fix this problem.

The 17-inch touchscreen periodically goes blank or does not come on when car is started.this occurs randomly while car is stationary or in motion.

Repeated violations of autopilot safety systems has forced tesla to activate in cabin cameras to be used as an additional safety device for driver monitoring. Not all vehicles have in cabin cameras and should be installed for increased safety concerns

The mcu screen (large touch screen in the center of dashboard) has been malfunctioning. This started a few months ago when screen seemed to "crash" -- as i'm driving, the screen will turn black and take a long time to come back. On other occasions the map won't load and i receive a notice for "network error" (and have 5g service and not a satellite problem.) this would happen on and off for the past few months. I reported it back in march and was told they would order parts and get back to me and haven't. Then the 12 volt battery died and they replaced it but the mcu problems didn't go away. The last time i drove it, the screen froze up, then turned black and didn't come back on. The collision warning, lane assistance, and adaptive cruise control and steering all stopped working. I could engage the auto pilot and cruise control (the notification showed on the small dash board on top of the steering wheel, that they were both engaged) however, they didn't work. I set the car to 65 on the highway and the cruise control wouldn'tgo over 50. Also, on the back roads, the car drove straight through stop signs without stopping.

While parallel parking on a city street, my vehicle (tesla model x 2017) accelerated unintentionally and pushed the vehicle #2 into the vehicle #3 in front of it.my vehicle accelerated with such force that the police officer thought my vehicle was going at least 25mph when it hit the car in front.at the time of the impact, my head was thrown forward and i could not recall if i had stepped on the brake or the accelerator.

We're facing an urgent matter. Tesla will be releasing a software update over the air in august to enable all existing tesla cars on the road to be fully autonomous. I believe that tesla should be prevented immediately to do this. There has been so many malfunctions committed by the auto pilot that has resulted in several deaths, injuries, crashes, destructions, blood flows and severe burns all over several human beings. Mr. Musk shouldn't be allowed to use our humans as lab rats. We're not his ginny pigs. Is he kidding us? tesla and other companies like uber that are interested in developing autonomous driving cars are under extreme scrutinyby the government. Does elon honestly think that we're stupid?as usual, he is taking reckless and irrational risks. Please hold them accountable. Please don't let him get away with potential murders intentionally. First, he needs to demonstrate that his technology is safe, then he should be allowed to implement it. That is just common sense, specially considering all the deaths, destructions and blood flows on our asphalts that have been caused by tesla auto pilot malfunctions, and uber autonomous car malfunction that killed a pedestrian recently. This is for public safety for the world. Again, it only makes common sense.please stop this unsafe, corrupt and fraudulent act immediately. Would you allow your kids, family members and friends to use this unproven technology? i certainly wouldn't. Please take a look at the enclosed model x picture that was recently involved in a crash in mountain view, ca that killed an apple engineer because the auto pilot malfunctioned. Please look at the destruction and the blood flow.do you see the blood? thanks. Please let me know.please help me. This is for our public safety. What elon is doing doesn't make sense.

Mcu failed twice, resulting in black screen while in operation.no rear camera, no ventilation control.tesla reports that i need to reset my trip counter every 2k miles to avoid this problem (see attached service report).this is a clear safety hazard.

I was slowly moving into a parking space in front of a supermarket when the car suddenly accelerated, hit the concrete parking space block in the front of the parking space, jumped the curb, and glanced off the corner of the supermarket building before turning 90 degrees and stopping.the entire incident literally took seconds.all the air bags deployed, and the insurance company has totaled the car.the accident was caught on the supermarket's surveillance cameras.

Rear backup camera no longer usable at night since tesla upgraded the software/mcu2 computer system.

My car is under warranty and the mcu is failing. I asked tesla about changing the chip or replace the unit with the mcu2 unit they refused to do either. I have 49500 on the car in less than 500 miles i'll be out of warranty and i can't at this time afford to fix this problem. I have recently had to reboot the unit several times to work and it's getting slower and slower. I'm afraid soon like many other tesla models it will go dead at my expense.

Touchscreen turns blank. This touchscreen in tesla which is the primary source of many crucial controls in the car turned blank and unresponsive. It took about 15 minutes of driving with blank screen and repeated reset button presses to get the screen to work again. The problem has happened before and was more pronounced in cold weather conditions. Tesla claims to run a repair program to fix this problem. I booked an appointment with service center and they called me to inform that they will not perform the repair by replacing the mmc but will do a software reset of some kind and see if it goes away. Given the safety concern involved with touchscreen control going blank and they themselves running a program to repair, now refusing to repair is a potential hazard. I request nhtsa to compel tesla to make all necessary repair and reimburse owners.

Much like smart phones these days will eventually update to the point that the software outpaces the hardware, tesla has continually pushed more updated software to the point where certain features are rendered unusable. Not only does the interface lag, causing dangerous distractions while driving, but certain critical safety features no longer operate either - turn signals, hands-free, navigation, etc.

Main central display freezing, unresponsive.affects radio, rear view camera alert warning sounds. Requires to reboot for it to work. Newer model was equipped with 64gb memory card to solve the issue (currently has 8gb). Has happened in mltiple ocasiones.

The contact's wife owns a 2017 tesla model x. The contact stated while his wife was driving at slow speeds, the vehicle independently accelerated, without warning. The contact's wife forcefully applied pressure on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The vehicle resumed regular driving after the failure and proceeded to drive at slow speeds. As the contact's wife approached the driveway to park the vehicle in the garage, the same failure recurred without warning. The contact slammed on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that a diagnostic would be performed on the vehicle. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.

Repeated violations of autopilot safety systems has forced tesla to activate in cabin cameras to be used as an additional safety device for driver monitoring. Not all vehicles have in cabin cameras and should be installed for increased safety concerns

I was parking when i felt the vehicle suddenly accelerate and jump the curb, smashing through the front windows/door of a business.

This is a complaint about the alarming number of instances of unintended sudden acceleration involving teslas.i believe the following is extremely relevant.** this comment on the teslamotorsclub raises a very good point.mark_t, 7 minutes ago i still think this all comes down to how much muscle memory you have to deal with...if you've been driving ice autos for years then you do all your low speed manoeuvres with your foot feathering the brake and your 'safety' reaction is to press hard on the break pedal.we all know how that ends if you forget you have creep off and you are in an ev with your foot on the 'go' pedal... :)same goes for any unexpected obstacle causing a sudden stop, inertia is likely to increase pedal pressure...entirely safe if your foot is on the brake, but not if your foot is on the 'gas'...luckyj, 2 minutes agoyeah, i'm with you on this. I've driven a manual all my life until i got a tesla. Sometimes i wish the significant braking that can come from regen would be restricted to when i actually press the brake. I think the "one pedal" concept is not good for most folks. Maybe even not good for anyone.***please consider this.concerned citizen.

On aug 4, 2018, in ventura, ca, at about 2:30 pm i was driving a passenger to a medical clinic in a rented tesla model x.as i was pulling into the parking space the tesla rapidly accelerated forward unexpectedly.surprised and scared i turned the steering wheel as hard as i could and pressed on the brake to stop the car to avoid the building in front of me.even with my efforts of stopping, the car went over the curb onto the sidewalk and then over a low cement wall and finally stopped next to the building.this caused damage to the cement wall, the front right wheel well and the undercarriage of the car.luckily no one was hurt. If i hadn't avoided hitting the building or if a person had been walking or standing in front of me on the sidewalk someone could have easily been injured.the police were called and there was an incident report.

Tesla touchscreen functions become missing, screen goes blank, no rearview camera and the ability to turn on and off defroster settings and headlights become missing.

The computer screen went deadcan't turn on heat or ac, open side mirror or charge the car

While backing down an incline, when the rear wheel rolled onto flat road surface the passenger rear wheel mounting arm broke from frame. No object or external force cause the breakage.the wheel assembly was no longer able to track straight as the assembly was at an abnormal angle due to the metal arm mount sheared from the frame. No tire or rim damage occurred. Vehicle was carefully flat bedded to manufacturer's service center in milford ct.
