There are challenges with the mcu1 and its integration with fsd hardware #3.this manifests as freezes on the central and drivers displays until the cars mcu does a full restart(speedometer is not affected).this restart can take as little as 5min or can stay off for the drive until manually force reboot initiated.during the freeze i experience loss of passenger airbag(warning comes on, i cant tell if other airbags are affected). Theclimate control system turns off no a/c or heat is available.sometimes auto pilot is affected, so i would assume emergency braking is affected because its the same system as auto pilot.the odometer is does not record miles if this happens while driving.no back up camera is available.these issues have increased since i had the hw3 upgradehere is a website that talks about this issuehttps://tesla-info.com/blog/tesla-mcu1-emmc-failure.phphttps://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/joe-rogan-vs-mcu1-hw3.203776/

At our driveway on sun. 1/14/18, coming back from shopping a few minutes before four pm, suddenly the car took off by itself. It accelerated tremendously with the speed which was felt around 65-80 m/hr, hitting our heavy garage door, which was closed at the time, went through the garage, hit my parked porsche and pushed it to the left to the water heater. It then hit and broke the wall between our garage and courtyard, broke and pushed our concrete planter and stopped halfway between the garage and our family room windows in the courtyard.i firmly believe that this was the result of unintended acceleration. This is our new and second tesla my wife and i owned and drove.when my wife talked to local tesla representative, he refused to give us any computer generated report.the car still on the wall between garage and courtyard. We understand, tesla has a black box that we do not know where it will end up if we take it to tesla certified body shop.we appreciate it very much if you advise us what to do.

While pulling into a parking spot at a busy shopping center, and applying the brake pedal (having moved it over from accelerator) to stop the car at about 5 mph, the model s suddenly lurched forward at full acceleration hitting not 1 but 2 parked cars.nothing would stop the car as it took over and went forward with both my feet pressing the brake pedal as hard as i could.finally it stopped after hitting a second parked car.tesla has not responded, despite 2 days of emails and calls.

The mcu screen goes blank repeatedly.it requires a reboot.when this occurs loss of numerous vehicle functions occurs which creates safety issues.control of defogging, rear back up camera etc are some of the last safety features.currently has only occurred in stationary vehicle

My tesla is experiencing the mcu problems outlined in nhtsa ea20-003 from 13 jan 21 and prior.while in motion, on city streets and highways, and regardless of speed, my vehicle's mcu will spontaneously and at random intervals freeze. This results in loss of heat/cooling, front and rear defrosters, infotainment/gps, adas safety features and convenience, all cameras including backup camera, and turn signal audio indicators.the only resolution is to stop my vehicle, issue a reboot command, and wait up to 10 minutes for systems to restore.tesla initially denied the issue, but then under tesla's 9 nov 2020 "warranty adjustment program" replaced the mcu daughterboard. The replacement did not resolve the issue.tesla now states the mcu is operating normally but acknowledges that a fix is required in software that will, at an indeterminate time, become available and that until such a fix is released, system reboots should be performed as needed.the mcu continues to freeze while driving with the same symptoms as before the daughterboard replacement. The recommended solution to reboot cannot be performed while driving but must be performed immediately to restore safety functionality.tesla has offered a $2,500 mcu replacement/upgrade that promises to eliminate the issue since the newer mcu has more storage and an intel atom cpu instead of a slower nvidia cpu. Tesla refuses to replace the existing mcu with a similar part in the meantime, despite initially acknowledging an issue and attempting a fix by replacing the daughterboard, and erasing the system due to possible "corruption" twice.

My vehicles main screen consistently does not work. The screen is important because it hosts my back up camera, the pin code needed to turn on the vehicle to put it drive, my bluetooth settings, ac functionality, etc.the screen has on multiple occasions froze ( while providing navigation)simply not turned on and had to be reset using manual controls, and restarted while mid driving and therefore not able to provide directions mid drive. The issue has been brought up to tesla and they simply did a firmware reset which resolved no issue.these issues have occurred while driving, parked, on freeway, city driving, all situations.i just got the vehicle back in august and have had multiple issues other than this. But this issues has been reoccurring throughout my short time owning the vehicle

The tesla model s main screen blacked out, causing me to not have access to any of the car's control system other than to drive it (no backup camera, climate control, music, door locking, suspension adjusting, turn signal chiming, and other essential safety featues). When i took it to tesla, they identified the problem but told me to fix the root of it, i'd have to pay for an "mcu2 upgrade" of over $1000 even though they know the computer chip is bad (and will go bad again). This happens sometimes while the car is parked and other times when in motion.

The mcu touchscreen fails constantly causing no access to rear view camera, ac controls, navigation, and loss of preset settings for mirrors and drive seat position.reboot takes over 5 mins while car is in operation to no ac working. Both headlights have been replaced over 10 times due to burned out daytime running lights. I have paid for the last replacement only for it to fail again.

With full charge, car drives about 110 miles. It is supposed to go about 230 miles.took it to tesla dealer and they will not repair the problem. This is deception on tesla's part. The car is supposed to drive 230 miles but goes only 110 miles.

Media control unit 1 software kept crashing and failing. Possible root cause is fpga and/or mmcu. Spent $2500 to replace with mcu2 to help eliminate issue. Seems like lots of owners are having similar issues.

Main center screen (referred to as mcu1) quit working after i drove home from work one evening. The car was still drive-able and charge-able, but audio/safety chimes no longer worked because those are powered by the mcu1 which died. The car was approximately 2.75 years old with about 89,000 miles on odometer when this happened. It was out of warranty to fix this issue.

Brought the car in for service at the macadam service center in portland, oregon on october 29th due to mcu issues; this was before any notice had gone out!i was not even aware of the issue at this time.it was rebooting, very sluggish, gets 'lost' ie keeps outdated information etc.this is obviously the 8gb memory device issue.after a 40 year career as an engineer and venture capitalist in the it industry i know what memory failure looks like!i was told there was no issue and that it was safe for me to drive to sf the next week.i had major issues on the trip.the system rebooted a number of times, was extremely sluggish and had data update issues.specifically:-depart lake oswego at 5:30am on 11/23.soon thereafter the left front fender camera informs me it is not working.it does so repeatedly every minute or so for a long time.then all cameras inform me they are not working.i stop, twice, clean all the cameras and it does not resolve anything.i give up on the cameras working and stop using cruise control-at 12:31pm in the shasta area streaming fails and then the whole mcu shuts down. While driving in the rain i am forced to react and open windows to keep the windows from fogging up while driving at 70mph.othis is a serious safety concern.i have updated my nhtsa complaint to include these serious safety concerns.-7:48pm 11/23, while supercharging in emeryville the mcu completely froze.i was had to force a reboot. 2nd reboot in one day-5:28pm 11/24 mcu crashes while driving again!how do you not understand the safety implications of this?!this is the 3rd crash in 2 days!.i will make an appointmentand expect you to fix this issue.i will continue to update my nhtsa complaint regarding these safety issues until tesla resolves them.scottscott darlingpresident | dell technologies capital

The contact owns a 2017 tesla model s. The contact stated that the hardware computer failed. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired once for the failure however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer tesla service center - latham (326 old niskayuna rd, latham, ny 12110) however, the dealer refused to service the vehicle for free. The contact drove the vehicle to the dealer without the indicator lights or windshield wipers operational. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but, offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.

I had to replace charging system with total expense of 2589.75. Unfortunately the charging system that is part of battery, is not covered under warranty as long as the battery. My mileage was 56814. All my savings from gas and regular maintenance costs is evaporated. I understand that there are several people had the same issue. The charging system is not lasting as ling as the battery. I find it tesla's selling point of " potential savings" is misleading. I am not sure if anyone out there made the savings by owning the car as much as it claims. In my opinion tesla should remove the potential savings cl;aim totally. Its just a unrealistic and misleading claim.

Common complaints regarding main computer. Takes longer every day to start, many delays with everyday functions, blackout/restart during operation, etc...

Mcu is failing preventing safety features and normal functions such as turn signals, ac, radio, nav, etc.happens while driving.

Own tesla model s for 4 yrs now and for last 3 months i have started noticing that the mcu (touchscreen) doesn't power up and sometimes i have to wait for 5-10 minutes for car to power on. I have reported 4-5 occurrences of this issue to tesla already but everytimethey pushed back citing it is not mcu related. In fact i reported them that this seems to be part of nhtsa recall issue sent out to tesla asking to replace mcus for 2017/2018 makes but tesla has not take any action yet. I reported another occurence of it today again and scheduled an appointment with tesla service on 11th feb,21.this could potentially be a safety issue if there is an emergency and my car won't power up. Request nhtsa to intervene and get my mcu issue resolved by liasoning with tesla team as i have tried my best to push tesla for a fix but unfortunately couldn't get a resolution yet

On saturday 5/11/2019 around 12:45pm while i was driving on the highway the car suddenly made a loud sound then the car shut down in the middle of the highway leaving me stuck. The car would not go into gear.the car display an error on the center console "unable to drive, please proceed to safety" (something like this) i did not take a photo since i was concerned about being rear ended. I had to call 911 to stop all traffic so the car could be pushed off the highway.as we were about to push the car it started working again.i will be taking the car into tesla service so they can try to determine why this occurred.this could have caused a major accident to myself and others if this happened during non rush hour traffic.

The central screen went blank i took to the dealer they tried to fix it it happened twicethe wipers and accontinued to run even when i got out of the carlast time it happenedat the repair shop the odometer mileage jumped from 21 000 to 58 000i took the car back to repair shop and they said it is a computer glitch and fixed (?)the problem and mileage was adjustedi am wondering if mileage can be adjusted by the dealer , i think it is illegal.intermittently the cameras are fogging even when it is not cold.no clear explanation given by the crew at repair place

The defective mcu went down and what is not being properly reported, especially in this pandemic world we now live in, is that besides the entertainment, the air conditioning (and viral hepa filter), the suspension height, the steering and acceleration properties, nearly everything is no longer accessible when the mcu fails because to the driver, these things can only be accessed and manipulated through the center console, which is in permanent shut down mode. Look, i perform fmea analysis for a living. This is a single point failure being caused by the poor decision to select an mcu chip that has a limited number of data writes to the memory, and that cannot be cleared out by any system designed into the car. Mine just failed last week and my car only has 30,000 miles on it. Tesla claims that they only warranty the entertainment system for 25,000 miles. The problem is that they've integrated the mcu and emmu as the single source of operations for all other vital systems in the vehicle. This is completely insane and is without a doubt a safety issue, as it was 90 degrees the day my mcu failed and dangerously hot inside my car, even with all windows down, which only got worse because there is so much thermal loads created by the battery, normally protected by the overheat sensors & fans, that are now not operating properly thanks to the mcu failure. It also important that you understand the most of the need to write to the finite mcu & emmu memory is caused by tesla during their frequent software updates. Mine is a p100d ludicrous + and cost well over $100,000 when new. Tell me what other manufacture would be allowed to get away with designing a single point of failure that effects nearly every system including safety features, and then say its only covered for less then the time they know the first failure will occur. Criminals and make them accountable now please.

Completely black mcu screen that does not turn on even after a reboot. No ac, no warning sounds, and most importantly not being able to use turn signals when the car is both stationary and moving.

2017 tesla model s. Center screen freezes up and dash lights go bright to dark. Issue; when center screen locks up you can't use the following- defrosters, air conditioning, heater, garage door remote, navigation, back up camera, auto poilet warning goes on and off with out me touching it.. Very dangerous and scary . I had it in twice for the same problem and was told it was a simplesoft wear update. Finally have an appointment but it took over two weeks. Now i am told that if there was an upgrade i need too pay out of pocket for the companies faulty issues. Seriously! this happens moving and stationary. Happens multiple times weekly

Tesla mcu fails intermittently- rendering autopilot and all safety features associated useless. Also causes extreme scare to driver when failure occurs, as they believe car is off/not working.occurs on numerous occasions, both on startup and while driving.

Apparently a total failure of the 'daughter board'. In this instance the car was parked when it happened. Got into car and at first wouldn't power up as normal. Touchscreen, including all controls for vehicle, would not start up. Climate started up but could not be controlled. Car would start but blinkers didn't not work. Something similar has happened on perhaps 10 or more occasions in the past, though usually could be fixed with a hard reset. In at least 2 instances the ac has stopped working midway through a drive (through over 100 degree weather with elderly persons in a very long drive- very unsafe)

I have reached out to tesla 3 times to fix a sudden unintended acceleration issue. 11 days after i reported the issue and they told me my car was ok to drive i got into a accident. It took tesla 5 months to give back the reports of the crash in which they said it was my fault.i have lost trust in the company and have seen that 127 other people have been affected by the same issue according to cnnplease take care of this issue. Any tesla owner is a pioneer of a future creation. After the accident they told me autopilot is on beta mode its not perfect yet. They should not allow public to use a hazardous software.also tesla employees were very negligent. I almost died in this accident with my father and the manager had no idea of my case even after my car was given to me and they said it was ok to drive. I got into a accident 11 days after they ok'd my carplease help as i am frustrated and do not know what to do anymore or who to get to fix my car. I have documentation of addressing sudden intended acceleration to tesla multiple times.thank you

Media control unit(mcu) fails.car has no audio(radio or navigation), and cameras malfunction.screen refresh extremely slow.all causing safety issues and distractions to the driver.a reset temporarily fixes, but resetting every time i get in the car is impractical.tesla service requested i remain patient until a firmware modification is prepared.they did not offer a timeline.i understand the mcu failure is common and currently under investigation by nhtsa

Tesla onboard computer crashed, no back up camera when reversing, indicator lights didn't work, no navigation, radio, bluetooth, unable to control air conditioner. Tsla upgraded "daughter board" a few months ago, but it happened again. Taking it to service in dec. Hope they upgrade the chip instead of installing the same old emmc that has been creating the problem.

Mcu does not function as it should all the time. Dashboard gauges have turned off while vehicle was in motion disrupting normal and intended operation.

This is my second tesla. I've had noises in suspension and have been told it was a control arm and paid for it. Noise immediately returned. Later told its stabilizer. That was on first tesla. Media control unit constantly failed. Second tesla - [xxx]- suspension problems. Something feels like it will pop of i turn wheel too far and the brake or something makes a loud noise when disengaging. They say they can't duplicate but it happens every time i brake or release hold. My mcu is failing on this car. They replaced the ram but it still fails. Gps is barely functional and my reverse camera will not appear many times. Sometimes my car won't charge. They ignore and say it's normal. Mcu needs replacement. I spoke to a tesla employee and i'm sure you know, but he says they only wipe and recycle the ram used on the mcu. That would explain fast failures again. They are trying to stall our warranties out to force purchase of the second mcu that they claim is the best solution. They are not going to stop these behaviors if we aren't protected. I have video i can share.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The mobile control unit (mcu) screen will randomly reboot, shut down, or freeze. Happens randomly at any time, regardless if the vehicle is stationary or moving. This impairs critical safety functions such as defogger, backup camera, and all other electrical controls (ex. Hvac).

Multiple functions are no longer working in car. The screen hasn't had a yellow frame around it for nearly a year.they replace the first one under warranty and then it did it again while it was still under warranty and they told me that if i wanted it replaced i was to pay out-of-pocket. So i had them note in the notes that my car needed a screen even though the warranty was to fall out. Multiple functions no longer work. Certain climate control features don't work. Mobile app no longer works with vehicle on most functions. Screen sometimes stays black and does not boot up. Maybe stuck for multiple minutes while car is booting up. Most of the time when the screen gives us problems it is not when driving. It is usually when we first get into the vehicle. We have had one occurrence where the screen shut down while driving. This has been happening for nearly a year. And it seems that more features are failing as time goes on

My screen turned blank and there was no way to see the rear view camera, the turning signal, to set the temperature control due to a known defect of a memory chip.i took the car into the dealership with history of multiple black outs, and they refuse to replace it although tesla website said that they would

The main display screen freezes and locks up which requires me to perform a reset on the main computer in my tesla model s.

Tesla model s 2017 mcu 1 failure.repeated black out of mcu during driving and delayed start of vehicle and 2 min 30 second delay in ac/heat start up from overnight parking.mcu nvidia tegra 8g was replaced under warranty with nvidia tegra 64g mcu.the same issue is of recurring; black out of mcu during driving lasting 20-30 seconds that renders turn signal audible notification mute and back up camera inoperable; delayed start up of vehicle is better now but not completely resolved.request for mcu 2 intel upgrade denied as is a purchasable upgrade.

My 2017 model s has had issues with the mcu whereby the center screen would restart while driving. Many occasions i would be backing out of my garage and center screen would restart or go black for extended time resulting in no back up camera or turn signal access. Earlier this year before covid, i backed out of my garage to go drop of my kids at school. And, the center screen was black for the whole trip - no access to back up camera, turn signals, or defrost controls.

The screen black out and won't back on, i was driving without car info, and when the screen is off, the left/right signal light is not working, because i don't hear the "tida tida" sounds when i turn on the left turn signal. Also i was not able to see back camera when the screen was off. And cant open my fan/ac, i report the problem to tesla, they said they need the exact date and time (detailed to minutes) when the screen was off to check up the problem! since i don't have that time recorded, they ask me to wait until it happen next time. That black screen happened again a few days later, i tell them and scheduled for a check up and give them the exact time it happen, they got my car and check up say they are not sure if this is the issue that need to recall/replacement of the screen and said they did help me clear all driving history of the car, they did not replace any part or screen for me, since i read the news my model was in the range of the suguested recall, i am afraid it will happen again in the future and my warranty will expire soon, they are trying to not fix that problem!!!! please help, i want the black screen problem solved, not only just remove my driving record for temporary ease, they should replace the so called flash memory device to make sure it won't happen again.

The instrument panel goes dark and inoperable at times when driving.alerts are noted that vehicle safety warnings are disabled.weā€™ve tried to remedy with the dealer now on several occasions and weā€™ve been charged for appointments only to find out that this is a vehicle recall.despite all these attempts tesla palm springs dealer keeps saying they will let us know when parts to repair become available.other rattling repairs in center counsel are delayed pending this recall correction.but we never hear back from the dealer about this correction.it seems excessive on the time waiting to get the component/part to correct this issue.what can be done?it seems like a safety issue to keep driving the car without this correction.

My 2017 tesla s 75d has been having issues with the emmc/daughterboard main computer/screen/control panel blanking out, where basically the screen that has the majority of controls goes black for a few hours. On one occasion the steering wheel was affected--it locked up. To temporarily remedy the issue, i have to reboot the software/car, but i have to be parked and stopped for 30 minutes to an hour, to go through this procedure. This is a reoccurring problem that started in 2020 and it seems other issues, have stemmed from this. For example, the system has a delay of 1-2 minutes to start up--at every start up; other sporadic issues such as no sound (as in there are no sounds, music, alarms or otherwise, working, at all); the key fob is delayed in being detected (even after replacing the battery).

While in motion, the large screen goes black and all audio is lost, even the sound the blinker makes. I can not restart it, it just takes time and usually restarts itself. But whenever it restarts itself, audio still does not work. Sometimes it never comes back on during the drive. It appears to be the mcu and emmcu chip. Apparently tesla knows about this, i have had my car in for service and have asked that the chip be replaced. They have so far refused and keep diagnosing the issue with no resolve. They want me to upgrade to an infotainment system, which they say will fix the issue, but thats $2500.

Mcu unit goes blank and has difficulty coming back online, which precludes me from safely driving my car; the car was stationary.

Below is the list of dates i've emailed about issues regarding autopilot and touchscreen, and microphone issues.the first reporting of it was less than a month after purchase: 10.19.2017.i have all of the emails and videos (within emails) to prove all of my statements about problems with ap and the touchscreen, along with microphone issues.i can provide the spreadsheet of the data if you need it.now that tesla has acknowledged a problem with the e-mmc unit within my tesla, their service center now states it is on backorder and they have no idea of when it may be available.their most recent letter dated 3.22.21 states "parts to replace the vcm daughterboard on your vehicle are not yet available."however, if i pay $1,500 for the cost of the infotainment upgrade, they can do it within a week!i shouldn't have to pay to have this fixed when there is a remedy!dates of emails and complaints about ap and touchscreen, and microphone issues, are as follows:date of purchase 9.24.2017 1. 10.16.2017 2. 10.19.2017 3. 12.08.2017 4. 12.13.20175. 12.19.2017 6. 12.26.2019 7. 04.19.2018 8. 05.07.2018 9. 05.08.201810. 05.20.201811. 08.17.201812. 09.25.201813.11.19.201814. 02.18.201915. 02.26.201916. 03.04.201917. 04.07.201918. 04.19.201919.04.24.201920. 05.03.201921.05.09.201922.05.20.201923.07.10.201924.07.11.201925. 09.16.201926.12.18.201927.01.13.202028.03.03.2021 (28) attempts to resolve these issues is far more than the reasonable number of attempts to repair these defects. The first attempt was less than 30 days from the date of purchase.my model s has been in the jacksonville, fl tesla service center for over 50 days total.two times i had a loaner for three weeks each.thank you,[xxx]parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

For about a year i have experienced spontaneous failures of the touchscreen, losing all climate controls and audible signal alerts while driving while the system reboots. The screen eventually goes black before the system reboots. I have repeatedly tried and failed to get tesla to fix it. They keep telling me it will be fixed by the next software update, but that never fixes it. Also, the voice recognition and nav systems don't work 5 out of six tries, which is distracting while driving. Tesla also claims that will be fixed by a software update, but the updates never address it. I just learned about the high failure rate of the memory when tesla said it was extending the warranty on it. I asked to have the memory replaced under warranty, but tesla refuses to admit that is the problem and says the software fix is coming by the end of 2020. I have experienced all issues while driving on freeways, surface streets and sometimes while parked.

My mcu is continuing to power off while i'm driving and the small screen takes longer to boot up. This also happens when surfing still before i start out of my garage.

Experiencing regular blackouts of main screen forcing me to stop driving and wait for reboot (unless triggered manually as per tesla sc advice). Complete blackouts have happened regularly about 5-7 times over the last 2 months, latest being nov 17 at 6:30pm. Tesla service center ran diagnostics on latest occurrence and claim firmware issue as opposed to emmc fault as per extended warranty communication received from tesla about a month ago. According to sc diagnostics showed 'mcu using a high amount of resources' at the time of failure and referring to firmware issue. No updated firmware eta given. Asked about characteristics that distinguish mcu failure from firmware issue with no response from sc. Seems like tesla is avoiding an underlying mcu fault by claiming firmware. I am fine with a new firmware to fix the experienced problem. However, i am not satisfied with justifying fault with firmware issue but no solution. This must be a well known issue at tesla which should have triggered an immediate firmware solution. No firmware solution to me indicates an underlying problem. With the extended warranty on the mcu it is clear that tesla has been forced to recognize the problem, however, without actual solution for customer. Blackout happens while driving. Investigation of firmware issue related to blackout problem needed and furthermore, what distinguishes characteristics of blackout generated by mcu (emmc) and firmware issue.

The contact owns a 2017 tesla model s. The contact stated that the media control unit was inoperable. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The contact stated that after extensive research, he was concerned about a complete and permanent system failure. The failure recurred three times. The contact contacted tesla (1901 del monte blvd, seaside, ca 93955; (831) 264-6896) and was informed that unless there was a hard fail, the dealer was unable to repair media control unit free of charge. The contact stated that the failure was related to a voluntary repair however, the hard failure as indicated by the dealer, was necessary for the repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

After running errands, i park by my front door to unload my car. After unloading, i get back in to park it in my garage only to find my center screen is blank. I'm unable to use the functions controlled by it (rear view camera, garage door opener, etc.) until the reboot process completes. Tesla does not consider this a defect and will not repair it under warranty. This happens nearly everytime i follow this process.

Mcu still failing after having it replaced.

Large middle screen goes black which controls all the uses of the car.the car runs, but there is no navigation, no radio, no heat or air conditioning.it is very scary!!! it has happened a number of times since 3/2020-1/2021.i had the car checked in november 2020 and asked to have the mcu replaced, but they said there was no recall and it wasn't necessary.also there is a yellow edge on the screen.i didn't think to take a picture, but will the next time it happens.

I complain that tesla failed to remedy the defect of malfunctioning emmc by replacing vcm daughterboard (see the letter received) within a reasonable time frame. Since last november i have received a number of letters from tesla informing the recall and nothing happened.

The contact owns a 2017 tesla model s. The contact stated while driving 50 mph, the media control unit became inoperable causing several other electrical functions to fail to operate as needed. The contact stated that the failure caused the turn signals to not function as needed. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer tesla-bellevue (14408 ne 20th st, bellevue, wa 98007) and the mcu module version 1 was replaced with version 2 however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,000.

The center screen/console crashes and stays off for long periods of time when starting the car and when driving.

Touch screen is completely black multiple times per week. Usually at beginning of trips, but occasionally suddenly occurs in the middle of trips. Black out can last upwards of 10 minutes (per smartphone stop watch). Touchscreen blackout limits access to fog light controls, back up camera, garage controls, passenger airbag status indicator, and all audible warnings including emergency brake alert and turn signal noises. The vehicle is covered under tesla's new extended warranty. I requested service on 10/17. Was scheduled to bring car in on 11/12 (next available). They said it was done on 11/13 after only completing a diagnostic and a firmware flash. No hardware modifications were completed. Same symptoms reoccurred on 11/23. I contacted them that same day and they gave me an appointment of 12/18.today (11/24) they contacted me to recommend i cancel the appointment as the issue is (they say) software based and they "found no issues with the hardware" via remote diagnostic. Video link below of a recent 7 minute black out.https://photos.app.goo.gl/3bdbafq7ylvjtxfu7i have attempted multiple forms of reset/reboot when this occurs with no notable improvements.

The mcu screen goes blank repeatedly.it requires a reboot.when this occurs loss of numerous vehicle functions occurs which creates safety issues.control of defogging, rear back up camera etc are some of the last safety features.currently has only occurred in stationary vehicle

The contact owns a 2017 tesla model s. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the control panel display would suddenly shutoff and the screen would turn black. During the failure, the turn signal, audio, and the reverse camera were inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer mt. Kisco tesla located at 115 kisco ave, mt kisco, ny 10549, who was unable to duplicate the failure. No repairs were performed. The contact indicated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 47,000.

Central screen (media control unit - mcu) continues to shut down and restart which causes loss of air bag, climate (including de-fogging), rear camera as well as media controls/gps.tesla repair indicates that it is a defect that can only be fixed by upgrading to their new mcu2 at a large cost.replacing with same system will not fix issue.this restarting/rebooting occurs when driving and when idle with no warning.tesla claims it does not affect driving but it completely shuts down ability to charge, use climate control(including window clearing) and safety controls like airbags.this happens approximately 1x daily when driving car starting after tesla installed something related to full self driving option.

The mcu touchscreen is requiring rebooting on an increasing basis, 4 or 5 times a week. The rebooting can take at least 5 minutes. I feel it is a safety problem since the vehicle is non-operational during this time.

Since last year, i've been having frequent(6-8weeks) issues with this car all central touchscreen related. It started small but keeps getting bigger and bigger. I don't drive much since covid and i think if that wasn't the case the issue would've been unbearable. Last november it was just the screen shutting down while driving. This jan/feb the issue worsened where the screen/lights acted like they were possessed, the central screen display showed a battery warning to pull over as the car is about to die even the other screen showed over 200miles left. The worst of it all, i was on a narrow street(1lane each) going home, i had no noise no music in the car. The car went from silent to extremely loud on its own. Every single alarm warning sound in the car started at the exact same time at full volume. Startled, i veered off the road and quickly pulled over. If there were other cars nearby i would have crashed.i received a recall letter from tesla highlighting most of the issues except the sound component. The service center refused to fix issues stating that it doesn't affect driving. Except that it does by startling you to crash. No other car does that. Both the recall letter and the 1800# confirm that these issues stem from a piece of hardware that need to be replaced but the service manager does not want to fix or replace the touchscreen. He says it'll be 1500$ to replace even though it's under warranty and assured me numerous times that the problems will then stop. He kept saying that a software update will temporarily patch things up until the next breakdown which is guaranteed and usually every 2 months or so.seriously how can a software update fix a hardware issue(that he refuses to acknowledge even though his company has). This has been going on for a better part of a year. I shouldn't be forced to pay for safetyat this point the service ctr is ignoring me

My main screen would completely go black randomly and when that happens my instrument cluster in front of me would also go black and as a result i can't see how fast i'm going or my blind spots or anything really. It's the mcu that continues to have this problem and tesla won't replace it.

Compter screen goes black.i loose all functions .its the same issue that is noted in the cr recall summary.however, they want to charge me 2000 to fix the firmware problems.furthermore, the car has an extended warranty that apparently they won't honor.

Nhtsa recall #21v035. My touch screen, fans, blinkers and lights have gone out while driving 4 times in the last month, in motion on city streets and on the highway. Tesla says they do not have parts to fix it. The recall states the fix is to be available starting march. What can be done to force tesla to actually fix the car?

Tesla model s 2017 sudden unintended acceleration- 1/18/2018, morning 9:05 am. I was pulling in to my office parking spot where i parked for 6 years, i let the car slow to roll closer in front of the curb. All of a sudden the car accelerated, got on the curb, hit the office building. The car was still going until i applied the brake. The acceleration point was right before the curb, measuring from the point to the wall is only 7 feet. Tesla said i was on the pedal for a second long, i applied pedal from 0-18%,and quickly applied the brake. If i applied the pedal, i would not be able to apply my brake in a split second. Tesla refused to provide the force given to the pedal and any telegraphy. Tesla said they will not be responsible for any damage and said it is driver's error. I told my car was only 6 week new, i no longer feel safe to drive this vehicle, i request to return the car. Tesla refused. Tesla claimed there is no parts failure and refused to do any failure analysis without even looking at the car and accident pictures. Consumer fighting with odds?--when insurance company sent tow truck driver on the next day(1/19/2018), the driver said my car was the second brand new model s he towed in the same week with the same issue. The other lady ran thru her drywall and got in her laundry room while parking, same situation- while letting the car "slow", roll itself. Given tesla has manufactured close to 200,000 cars, launched 5 years since 2012, divided by 52 weeks a year, the odd is pretty high for the same issue---0.7%. At a total of 1400 tesla cars out there, these 1400 cars are acting as ticking bomb for the design failure causing sua. I believe this issue requires nhtsa or federal regulation to take a look.

Touchscreen went blank and would not start up. Has to drive without climate control, defrosting and backup camera for 45 minutes.

This was issued a full recall by nhsta. The vendor, tesla indicted only a couple of weeks before a chip replacement was available. To date no repair has been made and the vendor is non responsive. Your help need to effect this recall

Model s has lost range compared to what was advertised.also many problems with ball joints that can cause difficult steering

2017 tesla model s started to accelerate on its own over 100 mph, when traveling on highway around 70 mph, without autopilot engaged. As soon as it started to accelerate, the car took control over the steering wheel and drove into the guardrail on the left of the lane, then quickly steered to the right lanes and steered to the left again. Slammed on the brake but did not work at all, and steering wheel did not respond. The car completely took control over traveling over 100 mph going zig-zag on three lane highway, finally came to a stop after hitting number of trees in the woods on the right side of the highway. The car is completely totaled.

My screen keeps freezing and is black causing a safety hazard and i can't drive the car anymore. I have taken the car to tesla several times but they won't fix it. The computer is broken and the chip has failed. The ac doesn't work, i can't control my radio, my back up camera doesn't work, turn signals don't work, hands free system doesn't work, nav system doesn't work. Tesla needs to replace my entire nav, entertainment computer to return the car to what i actually paid for. The clock doesn't work, and i can't tell how much battery life i have left. This is a dangerous situation and they have refused to repair then computer. This is an electric car and 100% relies on the computer to control even the smallest details. I cannot drive the car and try to reboot the car while i'm driving. Nothing has worked. Tesla knows about this situation and i am not the only owner who has this problem.

I have been reaching out to tesla service center repeatedly regarding the emmc unit failure where it has gone completely blank and turns off during my drive several times. I lose all air control, bluetooth, rearview camera, and everything that the main mcu unit controls. I have had this happen when it was very cold outside during the night when i lost visibility due to the fogging inside and no defogging control available. I contacted the service center immediately on december 22, 2020 and made an appointment, which they diagnosed via logs on their end and never agreed to physically diagnose my car in person. They keep claiming that this is an issue that will be addressed in a future firmware upgrade, for which they do not know the timeline at all since the engineers are still working on it, and that this is not a hardware issue. I detailed all the issues i was having where either my screen would freeze up or go black and turn off completely and gave them exact dates/timestamps. Each time they saw there was an error and verified that the logs showed an issue but that this was still not a hardware issue and i have to just put up with this until the firmware upgrade is rolled out. This was their justification for not replacing my unit under the warranty adjustment program, and now i don't see my vin in the recall database either. I am frustrated and expressed to them several times that i am honestly scared driving the car. I have logged all the messaging conversation with them as proof, and i have videos, pictures showing the failures as they occurred. I have had to pull over several times when these issues occurred to reboot the system before i feel safe to drive again, or i have had to sit in park when i start my car and wait until i reboot before i can start driving.

The mcu in my car simply stopped working. I could drive it but had no speedometer, no signals, nothing that is critical to driving safely. It would not start consistently and i was afraid it would stop in the middle of the highway on my way home. The mcu is the central computer in the car that controls everything.

Computer screen has yellow border. Also, sometimes the back up camera doesn't work, especially if i back up, stop and shift to neutral and back up again. I almost always have to put the shifterinto d or r two to four times before it engages coming from neutral.there is a clunking noise when i cross an expansion strip in the road, or a minor bump at over 25-30 mph. Tesla can't find the problem. I am concerned that it may be in the suspension.

My on board mcu, main screen keeps going blank while driving.this causes the loss of functionality of my vehicle controls. I lose control of the defrost and other climate functions. One morning while driving in extreme fog and high humidity i could barely see because i could not control the defrost function.having the main screen go out also causes a large distraction

Center console gets black screen occurrences and loss of audio has happened at least 15-20 times. Purchased car from tesla in mid october. Screen issues since having the car and no audio, tesla states to patiently await fe update have had the car serviced multiple times for the issue. Several appointments canceled by tesla stating there is no fix and to perform reset on car which im now doing every 5-10 days.this has happened while vehicle was stationary in park and have had to drive multiple times on the freeway and surface roads with no screen or audio. Has occurred 11-17-20, 11-28-20, 12-8-20, 12-19-20, 1-2-21, 1-8,21,. When black screen occurs no warning chimes or audio present.tesla refuses to address the he issue despite being aware of it and having been giving exact dates of occupancies pictures of black screen etc.

Autopilot has failed many times. Car almost crashed. Took it to dealer for repair but they didn't fix the problem after spending $100,000, the autopilot should work as designed.

I have reached out to tesla to fix the problems i've been having with my mcu, multiple times. They always try to come up with some excuse not to replace it with the mcu2. One service tech actually told me that my problems would be solved if i purchased the 'infotainment upgrade' that gives me the new mcu. Another tech told me that the mcu isn't covered under warranty at all. I refuse to pay $2500 for an 'upgrade' to fix my problems, when this should be their responsibility. I have had multiple camera failures resulting in driver aid functionality being reduced or eliminated all together, and the only way to fix it is by recalibrating the cameras. I have had door handles stop working at random times, that end up requiring a full reset of the car to repair. My central screen crashes/reboots at random, whether or not the vehicle is in motion.when that happens, none of the controls on the touchscreen are usable, and some of those are what i consider to be essential controls. For instance, climate/defogging ability is reduced or eliminated. I have been in for service multiple times now, almost all of the appointments were for things controlled by the mcu. They also have told me that my vehicle doesn't qualify for the emmc warranty repair/replacement, because it only covers 'end of life' components. The vehicle is still under the full warranty as well. I have another outstanding service appointment scheduled for december 1st. I have requested a new mcu again, but will not be surprised if they deny me. I have many photographs and screenshots as evidence.

Vehicle computer fails repeatedly over and over, hundreds of times since purchasing the car and tesla refuses to do anything about it. The primary display that indicates my speed, indicators etc does not work at intermittent times, i at other times can not control or function lights, turn indicators, or basic functions other than acceleration and braking / turning. This has been to service many times and each time they say they won't do anything to help. Often times the cruise control won't work, and since the display won't function or freezes completely ' i cannot use radio, navigation, etc. There have been several instances where my vehicle will not even turn on, or will take 20 minutes to 'boot' up. There have also been major issues where the vehicle will not accept a charge at all. Additionally, the vehicle states a range of 299 miles per charge, and after exemplary usage, i only get approx 265 miles per charge now which is well beyond average degradation for an ev.

My car's mcu (media control unit touchscreen) is near death and900 miles from being out of warranty.the screen went black on me for an entire day before coming back and constantly freezes and needs reboots. During this time, i lost ability to turn on and off the headlights, must rely on auto.lost ability to control the hvac and defrost.lost ability to adjust air suspension.lost ability to use backup camera.

Main computer experienced the emmc failure which is widespread for this model and year, amongst others. I could tell it was imminent for failure, however we did not realize the vehicle needs this computer for turn signal control. Thus, my wife drove home from work with a dead computer and thought she has turn signals when she did not. Fortunately she made it home safely. We have not driven it since we realized this safety concern. Fufthermore, the backup camera also is unusable in this state. I went ahead and scheduled for the newer computer (without this known issue) to be installed as soon as i saw the symptoms of imminent failure, but it died a couple days later, and is currently not safely drivable while awaiting the part.

I was making a legal u turn on a city street to park. I pulled behind a parked car and was going about 1mph when my car suddenly accelerated and hit the parked car. There were no warning sounds until the car hit the other car and then the horn and lights on my car went off. The car was not on auto park and no air bags were deployed however my car and the car that was hit had extensive body damage. There were not injuries to people.i don't know why the car accelerated instead of stopping. I have neverhit the accelerator peddle instead of the brake and i doubt if i did it in this case.

While attempting to park the car in a parking space the car accelerated on it's own and crashed over a small concrete retaining wall and crashed into another vehicle.my car and the car that was struck were totaled.

The mcu touchscreen fails constantly causing no access to rear view camera, ac controls, navigation, and loss of preset settings for mirrors and drive seat position.reboot takes over 5 mins while car is in operation to no ac working.

My screen turned blank and there was no way to see the rear view camera, the turning signal, to set the temperature control due to a known defect of a memory chip.i took the car into the dealership with history of multiple black outs, and they refuse to replace it although tesla website said that they would

Tesla mcu fails intermittently- rendering autopilot and all safety features associated useless. Also causes extreme scare to driver when failure occurs, as they believe car is off/not working.occurs on numerous occasions, both on startup and while driving.

I complain that tesla failed to remedy the defect of malfunctioning emmc by replacing vcm daughterboard (see the letter received) within a reasonable time frame. Since last november i have received a number of letters from tesla informing the recall and nothing happened.

A phantom emergency braking event occurred twice on monday, december 21, 2020 while driving from dallas to houston between the hours of 12pm - 4pm cst.i also experienced three blank screen events during this same trip. The media control unit (mcu) controlling the map, radio, air conditioning, blinker sounds also ceased operating. The second occurrence of both the phantom emergency braking and black screen event occurred on saturday, january 9, 2021 shortly after 10am cst.the sudden phantom emergency braking episode i experienced at highway speed from dallas to houston was extreme. I simply do not feel safe using the cruise control or autopilot in this vehicle. Something is very wrong.however, tesla message to me states 'we are happy to report that your hardware vitals for the media control unit and emmc are in great shape and do not require replacement'.i have attached a print screen of this message.

My tesla model s has the v1 hardware, also known as mcuv1, with the daughterboard emmc replacement from the previous recall running on firmware 2020.48.37.1. The sound for the entire car will cut out. It might come back, but even a reboot of the car does not solve anything. These sounds may include blinker noise, speed limit chimes, lane departure warning, autopilot engage/dis-engage chimes, gear warnings, collision safety chimes, early braking warning, and a lot more safety-related sounds. This happens every time i drive the car, not just the reported date. I have brought it in for repairs numerous times, but this has never been addressed. I am only told to wait for a new firmware upgrade, which i have been for years now since i first reported the issue to tesla. This only happens with mcuv1 cars and they have refused to provide a free hardware upgrade even after my incessant reports and appointments stating that it is unsafe.

This is a complaint about the issue of fires in the tesla cars.there was an investigation into the fires in 2013.tesla claimed that the fires were started by an object puncturing the battery pack and that the problem had been solved by the addition of a battery shield.since that time there have been dozens more tesla fires.it is obvious from looking at videos of fires that in most cases it is not the batteries burning (they burn with a white flame and with cells exploding like fire-crackers)in almost every case it is the coolant fluid that is burning.propylene glycol is flammable. Even when diluted with water 50:50 it is still flammable when there is sufficient heat to boil off the water content.when the battery cells are hot from recent charging or from hard driving then there is sufficient thermal mass to boil off the fluid especially if the radiator pressure is lost.the tesla radiators and fluid hoses are at the front of the vehicle and are highly vulnerable to impact damage.teslas contain over 6 gallons of flammable glycol.the batteries themselves will not self ignite unless they are crushed in a heavy impact.the risk of fires from a leakage of hot propylene glycol is far greater.a google image search for tesla fire shows dozens of cases where pools of fluid are burning on the ground beneath the car and the front of the car is engulfed in flames.most of these fires are not accompanied by battery pyrotechnics they are simply coolant fires.please reopen the fire investigation.

This is a complaint related to the tesla battery fires investigation.please note that i have used the vin of another 2017 tesla to be able to file this complaint.the wreck of the burned out tesla has now showed up in the salvage yard but it is too badly burned to be able to read the vin.there was a fire on january 10th in arlington involving a tesla model shere is a video showing the tesla on fire outside the garage and spewing flames in all directions.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtxkm_0i8vgthis burned out wreck which is now in a chicago salvage yard is very likely to be the car that was on fire.https://www.copart.com/lot/27044150the video of that fire shows just how dangerous a burning tesla is.even with several fire-engines and thousands of gallons of water it is near impossible to extinguish.an occupant of the house was treated by paramedics.the tesla fan club has tried to deflect the blame on to "christmas lights"https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/christmas-light-home-fire-in-arlington-heights-il.181401/yeah right! it's a little past the 12 days of christmas!as i am sure you will be aware a single lithium battery cell has always got a non-zero percentage chance of catching fire due to internal short circuit.when there are 7000 cells tightly packed together a chain reaction a highly likely outcome.tesla is now tinkering about with the charging rates but this will never eliminate the chances of these fires.please keep investigating.thank you.keef

On 1/19/20 at 1623 phoenix time while coming to a stop on a surface street the car suddenly accelerated. Prompt application of the breaks prevented an accident. This is the first time this has happened.

On 3 occasions, vehicle made sudden, spontaneous attempts to make a left lane change. On two occasions the vehicle was in self drive mode on a freeway; on the 1st occasion, the vehicle was in the left lane and hit a guard rail; on the3rd occasion the vehicle was stopped at a red light when it suddenly accelerated, turned sharply left and ran up an embankment into trees and bushes, sustaining substantial damage.

The contact stated that while reversing into a parking space at 1 mph, the rear driver's side door inadvertently opened and the audible warning sound alerted that the door was open. There were issues prior with the rear driver's side door not opening from the outside when it was unlocked. The rear driver's side door would only open from the inside of the vehicle. The contact had not informed the dealer or the manufacturer of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,345.

Our tesla has had two incidents in the last three months of uncontrollable acceleration....once slowly going into a parking place and once backing out of our garage. The first one resulted in a couple of cracked ribs (with seatbelt on) and $18,000 in damage.the second incident: the tesla, when backing up went totally out of control by accelerating and itbarreled across the street and knockingdown a tree before coming to a stop.the tesla is now in the repair shop with extensive damage to the rear of the car.not sure yet of the dollar amount.i feel this is a serious defect in the tesla model s.

On july 13, 2017, my tesla was driving south on the i-680 in the vicinity of fremont, california. My vehicle was in self-drive mode traveling in the left-most lane at 65 mph. My hands were on the steering wheel. We entered a long curve to the right and approached stopped cars ahead of us. The self-drive mode in my tesla then stopped operating and i was left to suddenly have to steer the tesla onto the left shoulder of the highway in order to avoid hitting the vehicle directly ahead of me. This all occurred under clear skies and dry road conditions. I could not simply accept this behavior by my vehicle without registering a complaint at my tesla dealer in seaside, california. The tesla service rep examined the logs on my vehicle and later that same day reported to me that the self-driving feature on my tesla was still in beta stage and that my new tesla's firmware was defective. I would now like tesla to take back this tesla and return to me a full refund. This is the second major failing of this tesla which has only about 700 miles on its odometer. I took initial delivery of this tesla on may 3, 2017. This failure of the self-driving feature occurred at around 10:30am on july 13, 2017. The first failure of the navigation system occurred on may 3, 2017, the original delivery date. The navigation system had simply frozen at the dealership. Again, i would like to return this vehicle to tesla for a full refund.

Driver seat was replaced in earlier appointments however rod still hits bottom (underneath the thighs and butt). It's pains bad and later stop blood flow, numbs my legs. I had to continuously adjust myself to continue my driving; at that point i don't feel safe in the car. I tried several positions but it still hurts.here is tesla response: assistant service manager sat in the front driver seat and confirmed customer concern. Compared to multiple other service and inventory vehicles of the same model and found all comparable seats are similar. This is inherent to the design of the seat. Recommend customer adjust seat positions and/or lumbar support to a more comfortable position suited to their personal preference.

The car failed to come out of the enhanced autopilot mode, even after pressing the brake pedals, and went straight through a red light, causing a collision resulting in total loss of both vehicles.i believe the 'self driving mode', or the enhanced autopilot mode was defective.we would like to get the vehicle data pertaining to events just before the crash, but tesla would not give it without a court order.even before this incident i had noticed that enhanced autopilot mode made dangerous moves on highway. At one instance, i was driving in the rightmost lane(in the enhanced autopilot mode), and a driver trying to merge in the highway was not willing to slow down, but neither did the tesla, and i had to brake to avoid the collision. The autopilot did not detect the other car that was rapidly closing in to the tesla.

Please note - this is a complaint about the tesla model 3 which does not yet appear on your database.at least 50 of these have already been released to tesla employee guinea pigs and are loose on the highways.it is expected that thousands more will be on the roads soon.the following video shows just how much of a dangerous distraction the central touch-screen is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jl7a-9dgsb0almost every function of the car is controlled by the touch screen.the man who posted this video is probably typical of the type of person who will be driving these cars.he is young, enthusiastic about new technology and overconfident in his abilities.he states that he can see the touch-screen out of his peripheral vision while still watching the road ahead.this is absolutely impossible. A simple experiment using my own laptop whilst sitting in front of a window proves that although i can see the image of the screen in my peripheral vision it is impossible to place a finger on any of the icons without looking directly at the screen.this is the same kind of thinking that leads young people to text and drive and is causing a sharp rise in the road toll.the narrator of the video repeats the claim of elon musk that it doesn't really matter because teslas will soon be capable of self driving and already have automatic emergency braking (sometimes!)in many parts of the world it is illegal to even touch a phone whilst driving.this car is even more dangerous than that.even to control the screen wipers and air flow it is necessary to fiddle with the screen.please stop this dangerous experiment before it goes any further.this report will be forwarded to the media so that it is on record that nhtsa has been warned of the danger.thank you.concerned citizendummy usa address used to satisfy your website.genuine contact details supplied.

While turning right and slowly pulling into a parking space when i hit the brake the car accelerated rapidly and jumped over the bumper and landed in a grassy spot. Fortunate it didn't hit anything or anyone, i'm concerned that this could happen again and not have a benign outcome. Tesla's first reaction is "i" must have hit the gas petal by mistake; i would like to accept that however i don't. To start a tesla you touch the brake, more testing is needed to assure brakes don't create false acceleration this is a very dangerous situation.i was afraid to drive the car home on a busy street where pedestrians cross at stop light; imagine that outcome?tesla needs to run test to determine if this malfunction of rapid acceleration when applying brakes is an engineering problem and not write it off as drivers hitting the gas!

We were ina parking lot of "kidquest museum" in bellevue , wa. , takingour grand daughter, one year old, to the museum. Our car was in stationary position. Wewere trying to figure out where to park. During this time, our model x,took offwith unintended acceleration and we could not control the car. It was instantaneous, our car went and hit a parked chevy van. This vanfwentupside down and went over the fence into the lot next to it. After the impact our car went and hit eletric pole, went into bushesand over an electrical box of 5 by 5.i could not open the door. There was smoke in the car (my wife thinks smoke might have started while the car was accelerating").museum staff came and opened the passenger door. After she got out, first thing they did was to open the rear passenger door and took out our granddaughter. I came out thru passenger doo.fortunately no one was hurt. Many of the airbags came out. We are unbelievably lucky. The parking lot is approximately 100 ftx 100. This isthe parking lot usually where many kids are in the lot. Fortunately that moment there was none. Accident happened around 4:20 p.m . Weather was gray but no rain. We still can not comprehend howcar can take off at that speed. None of the emergency braking system or the cameras worked to stop the car

Model s has lost range compared to what was advertised.also many problems with ball joints that can cause difficult steering

Yet another tesla in the junkyard: https://www.copart.com/lot/29600438front rh suspension collapsed. Wheels gone whompy and crosseyed.there have been hundreds of similar tesla suspension breakages that are due to fragile suspension components and notthe result of crsh damage.please recall these dangerous cars before more people get killed..thank you.concerned citizen.

Driving home from service on the highway, while on a straight section, i was forced to use my brakes to slow down for another car and bam! catastrophic failure of the drivers side front control arm. Interesting thing though... I'd addressed a concern about a grinding noise from up front, at a prior service, and they informed me that the sound was normal based on the high performance brakes. Which i knew sounded wrong. Now this? seems a bit shady to me.

Backing into a parking spot the driver side front fore link failed while turning the steering wheel. This damaged the wheel, tire and wheel well.

This is a complaint about fragile alloy steering and suspension components used on all models of tesla cars including the s, x, and model 3.here is a thread in which several owners report the same snapped steering arm.https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/cracked-forelink.95637/page-2photographs are attached which show that the eyelet of the steering arm has snapped.this is a classic "brittle fracture" *brittle fracture is the sudden, very rapid cracking of equipment under stress where the material exhibited little or no evidence of ductility or plastic degradation before the fracture occurs.*some of the posters on that thread have recommended that this failure should be reported to nhtsa. Others have suggested just leaving it to tesla.since it seems that the original poster has not so far filed a complaint i am filing this report in the interest of public safety.this is not a one off failure.it is the result of poor design and manufacture.lives are at risk.please investigate this matter immediately.

I was pulling out of my garage when i had trouble turning the wheel and there was this cracking sound from the front of the car. I looked at the left front tire and there was a liner inside the wheel well that crumpled against the tire and the steering was not responding the way it should. I pulled the car back into the garage as the car could not be safely driven. My wife and i were about to take a 3 hour road trip. Thankfully this happened when we just started on the road and not when we were driving 60 mph on the highway. I made an appointment with tesla. The service technician came to the house a week later (the car remained in the garage) and told me i had to have the car towed to the tesla service center; which i did today. He told me that the front control arm had snapped off. Tesla service center currently has the car. I do have a piece that broke off from the car that i recovered inside my garage. There were no warning messages or other symptoms that i am aware off to the best of my recollection.

For many months, my tesla's computer would reboot or just shut down while i was driving. That would stop the defroster, the ability to back up, and multiple driving issue.tesla suuggestec that i replace the chip and the screen, i paid$2500. They refuse to pay for it despite a recall on the specific issue. It is well documented with tesls

This is a complaint about the tesla autopilot.please note that the vin of a random tesla model s has been used to enable me to file this complaint.here is a freshly uploaded youtube video of some kids fooling around with autopilot and putting many lives at risk.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxglmmmfkuadespite several fatalities and the scathing ntsb report people are still doing dangerous things.nothing has been done to correct the misconception that autopilot is self driving and that it is safe to rely on it.this public misconception was deliberately engineered by elon musk.autopilot should be geofenced so that it is impossible to use it on undivided roads.driver monitoring should be in place to prevent the kind of stupidity shown in this video.since it is impossible to undo the widely held belief that autopilot is perfectly safe and indeed safer than a human driver the only solution is to disable tesla autopilot immediately via an over the air update.the wreckers yards are filled with astonishing numbers of crashed teslas.https://poctra.com/tesla-for-saleit is a certainty that many of these tesla crashes were caused by driver distraction i.e. Touchscreen and/or autopilot.i petition nhtsa to demand an immediate recall or disabling of this dangerously misnamed autopilot.thank you.keef

With the current release v9, in a specific location, under autopilot the vehicle attempts to suddenly veer off the road to the right, in a violent action. Manually correcting causes autosteer to disengage but cruise control remains on exasserbating the situation. Conditions: 2 lane highway, traveling at 45 mph. Painted center line jogs slightly to accommodate center turning lane. Travelled this road safely on autopilot for over a year without incident. Now it happens everytime.attempts to contact tesla, thus far have resulted in no response.

Here is another terdsla in the junkyardhttps://www.iaai.com/vehicledetails/39311673?tenant=us&rownumber=21the front wheel has fallen off because all the ball joints have popped apart.\the back wheek has gone whompy because that is just what terdslas do.i suppose an investigation is out of the question.yours disgustedlykeef

I was braking from about 35 mph to make a 90 degree right hand turn into driveway. There was a sudden grinding noise and shuddering. I continued to brake and turn until i was safely in the driveway. A quick inspect revealed some damage to the wheel well, but the car seem drive-able, so i very slowly limped into a parking spot.i've read enough posts from other people having this same failure to immediately suspect a suspension failure. When parked it was easy to identify the same failure i've seen all over the internet. Control arm failed, resulting the wheel touching the wheel well as i was braking, burning through to the metal and gouging my wheel.

This is a complaint about the absolute madness of tesla autopilot.here is just one more example of how dangerous this so called autopilot really is.from today's forum posts.https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/nag-reduced-with-2017-46.102558/d21mike, today at 6:01 pm bertx said: ↑ hold the wheel lightly with one hand just above the flat portion at the bottom, along the side, just letting the weight of your hand bear down. Don't steer, but don't keep the ap from steering. You will never, ever get a nag. If you need to do something with your hands, then do it and put one back when you can. Switch hands if you need to. Prop your elbow on the console.this is what i do as well. Works really well. ***this is contrary to the advice given by every driving school and every regulatory authority in the world.having one hand loosely resting at the bottom of the wheel will not allow the driver to keep control of the vehicle . The marketing of this autopilot feature has been grossly irresponsible and the claim that it is 40% safer than a human driver is simply ludicrous.internet forums and youtube videos show that owners are putting lives in danger by using this feature on narrow winding roads and in inappropriate situations.tesla will always claim that autopilot was not engaged at the time of the crash because it disengages the moment before impact.this is not a laughing matter.please stop this madness before more lives are lost.

This is a complaint about the tesla autopilot.here is a recently posted video:https://youtu.be/flxyhwfvazathe autopilot drives onto the wrong side of the road!!!this owner is a tesla enthusiast and presumably keeps up on the latest new about tesla crashes.despite this he is still under the mistaken impression that it is safe to use autopilot on narrow winding roads and against oncoming traffic.it is only a matter of time before this man collects his darwin award.unfortunately he will probably take the lives of innocent road users at the same time.please pass this information on to the ntsb who are investigating the tesla autopilot crashes.thank you.outraged citizen.

My car with nearly 17,621 miles only had a part come off the suspension system off drivers side. Appeared to be an aluminum part that cracked in half while pulling from the garage. This car never was in a wreck.the suspension failed and my tire backed into the plastic casing which eroded the tires causing extensive damage.if this had occurred on the highway, this would have certainly caused a fatality to myself, family and other cars on the road. It appears this has happened to many prior owners of this vehicle, mainly model x and s around this time frame. I do not want to become a statistic before a recall is reached. As a physician, i am very concerned for my family and others that may be driving a dangerous vehicle.

This is a complaint about the tesla autopilot.despite several serious crashes involving autopilot owners are still placing too much trust in the device.videos have been posted of owners attaching weights and water bottles to the steering wheel to defeat the warning to hold wheel nag.a steering weight called autopilot buddy is now on sale.https://www.autopilotbuddy.com/i believe that tesla has beenhighly irresponsible in its marketing and promotion of the autopilot and that use of a "nag defeater" will make it even more dangerous.it does not matter that tesla and the makers of autopilot buddy issue disclaimers that drivers must act responsibly. Reality is that tesla owners really believe they are driving the safest car in the world.recent crashes involving drunk drivers and yet another crash into a stationary object show just how dangerous the situation has become.thank you.concerned citizen.

The contact owns a 2017 tesla s75. While the vehicle was in autopilot mode, it independently veered to the left to make a lane change. Additionally, while the vehicle was at a traffic light, it independently accelerated, made a sharp left turn, and drove into vegetation on the off ramp of a freeway. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. Tesla of santa barbara (400 hitchcock way, santa barbara, ca 93105, (805) 770-6090) was contacted and the vehicle owner was informed to have the vehicle repaired. Afterwards, a diagnostic test would be performed. The contact stated that the failure recurred three times. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.

Here is a report from an owner of a brand new model x that has a cracked in half a-pillar.https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/help-a-pillar-defect-found.88657/photographs are attached.snip "i picked up my s90d last friday and was super happy about it, there was some trim mis-alignment on delivery but nothing serious. Today, i was showing off the car to my brother in-law and noticed something very wrong with the a-pillar. On the passenger side where it touches the front of the windshield, the aluminium was actually cracked and there is a gaping hole to the inside! there is no way that i would have actually caused this and you can see that they painted the crack part as well. I have emailed my delivery person and am super sad about this as i don't know how they can actually replace that part without ripping apart the car. This cracked part is obviously unacceptable but i don't want them to cause more issues ripping it apart to replace it. What should i do?"it is scandalous that such a serious structural defect could pass quality control.this is yet another example of teslas being rushed off the production line in order to meet quotas while ignoring the production defects.please investigate how this car was able to escape from the factory.concerned citizen etc.

I was attempting to park, the car was traveling at perhaps 2 miles/hour, when the car suddenly accelerated, climbed a burm, hit a tree, and stopped on the other side of the burm in the middle of the street.

The contact owns a 2017 tesla model s. The contact stated that the glass roof of the vehicle was cracked all the way to the power liftgate. There were no sensors where the glass met the glass roof, which caused a possible hazard for the vehicle occupants. The vehicle was taken to tesla (115 kisco ave, mt kisco, ny 10549, (914) 218-8900) and they stated that they would not cover the repairs. The dealer admitted that there there was a safety hazard regarding the liftgate automatically closing, which could sever a hand or finger. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 18,350.

Here is a tesla in the junkyard:https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=26400583&rownumber=38&loadrecent=true&isnext=truethis is a virtually brand new car having only driven 3000 miles.the entire front suspension and drive shaft has snapped off.there is no collision damage that might have caused the suspension to be torn off.there have been hundreds of similar failures.it is perfectly obvious that the tesla suspension parts are too weak for the job and do not have sufficient margin of safety.please take action before more people get killed.thank you.concerned citizen.date of crash is an approximation.

I was driving through an exit ramp and i felt something break on the vehicle and then when i tried to turn the vehicle, it continued to push straight.after further review, the rear toe arm of the drivers side rear suspension broke.this failure caused the rear wheel to be able to turn left and right.

I have already made several reports to nhtsa about tesla suspension failures.a tesla owner in england has just posted on the tesla motors club forum that the bolts snapped on his front suspension and the car fell to the ground. The thread has now been deleted from the forum but i have recovered it from google cache.snapshots of the thread and images of the broken bolts are attached.it is a certainty that there is a bad batch of suspension bolts that are snapping without any good reason.the alloy suspension parts and/or the alloy wheel would be expected to fail before a critical steel bolt does.these bolts appear to be made from 2 parts with the ball joint stem being welded to a threaded extension. The bolts frequently snap about 1/4 inch from the weld in the transition zone.this is a deadly weakness.please take immediate action.thank you.concerned citizen

Here is a brand new model x in the junkyard:https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=26401554&rownumber=39&loadrecent=true&isnext=trueit appears to have been hit from behind.the suspension has collapsed on all wheels.owners have been reporting problems with the air suspension since the latest software update and posting complaints about that on the forums. They claim that tesla has just advised them to reboot the car and hope for the best.it looks highly likely that this car's suspension collapsed causing it to slow down unexpectedly and get rammed up the rear by another car.please investigate.concerned citizen etc.

The upper control arm was replaced by tesla outside of warranty because, as mentioned by technician, "the upper control arm ball joint was rubbing metal on metal and will fail eventually". I initially noticed this when the wheels were squeaking loudly while turning the wheel. According to the technician, this has been a common issue on the car. I realize tesla did a recall in china but not in us so i'm submitting this info in case the data is helpful for any potential recall in the future. Please contact me for videos.

On monday morning(29.01.18) my tesla broke down. The driver's side rear tyre dislodged from the suspension while i was reversing into my bay. The issues began from this point 1 at only 4526 miles and 122 days of age, ending up with 3 wheels is simply unacceptable. 2 then ensued the confusion: i had taken breakdown cover from my insurance company inclusive of courtesy car. This was despite the sales pitch recommending tesla roadside assistance. The moment i called tesla it was a case of fighting with them regarding whose fault it was rather than what happens next. I didn't feel supported at all. Tesla service and roadside assistance were confident that this was a case for the insurers 3 so i called my insurance company . They quickly picked up the car and have delivered the same totesla manchester south, where i had purchased it. With a parting shot that if this recurs in the next 28 days they will not help. 4 hence as i am sure you will understand, i have been left by tesla on the wayside, quite literally and figuratively. I am fortuitous to be in one piece, writing this message to you. Things could have been a lot worse....i drive 25 miles daily each way to work and back. And mostly this is on the motorway. 5 now where did we go wrong? thus could potentially be a manufacturing design issue but my confidence in tesla has taken a beating. My main concern at the moment is: am i feeling safe in this vehicle? the answer is no.

Please note that i have used the vin of a different car to submit this complaint since the vin of the car in question is unavailable.here is page 15 of a thread in which many owners report broken suspensions.https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/another-front-suspension-control-arm-failure.114967/page-15the latest complainant provides photographs of the broken parts and says that he will be filing an nhtsa complaint.if he has done so then you may disregard my complaint.however, his final post suggests that he has accepted an offer from tesla to cover the cost and it is highly likely that he will be persuaded to not file a report.snip **https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/another-front-suspension-control-arm-failure.114967/page-15**additionally my own posts on this forum that encouraged the owner to file a complaint have been deleted.snip**your post in the thread another front suspension control arm failure was deleted. Front suspension makes a knocking noise going 30 mph or slower on small bumps in the road, tesla replaced front struts under warranty in may of 2020, is little better but the knocking is still there

This is a complaint about the tesla suspensions.a twitter user whose name can be found on the screenshot which is attached to this complaint) has posted photographs of his broken suspension.he was unhappy about the fact that the suspension fell apart in his driveway.the photograph shows the control arm snapped and this same failure can be seento have occurred on many other teslas.examples can be found here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/136377865@n05/sets/72157658490111523/after a few people responded to the owners tweet he then deleted the tweet and blocked everybody that had responded.it is highly unlikely that the owner will be filing a complaint.he is one of the top tesla referrers and is close to earning rewards from tesla.the second attached screenshot proves this.these fragile suspension parts pose a risk to owners and other road users.steering would be badly affected by such a failure.many teslas have suddenly swerved off the road with fatal consequences.it is certainly possible that suspension failures are the cause of these swerves.please take urgent actionto prevent more deaths and injuries.thank you.concerned citizen with a sense of civic responsibility.full name and contact details supplied.

Pulling away from a stop in a parking lot, there was a new rattle at the left front of the car, but the car drove normally. Made a right turn onto a street and slowly approached an intersection. Stopping at the intersection, there was a loud thunk. Got out and saw the front left tire was off-center in the wheel well and touching the rear wheel well wall. Drove the car 100 feet back into the parking lot. Car was towed to tesla service center. Tesla replaced both fore link assemblies. There is a notation on the repair invoice that "found both fore links revision a's. Replaced both fore links with revision b's." i strongly feel that this should have been a recall, as i find many blog entries where the same part has failed over the past few years and tesla replaced the one that had not failed with the new revision.

When backing out of a parking space yesterday, there was a loud grinding sound and the car would not move. After moving it back a few feet, the car would go so i drove it a mile home very slowly and called for a tow.they took the car away yesteray.when moving the car to the tow truck, a three-inch aluminum piece torn on both ends and badly mangled fell out.

Front rh side lower control arm unexpectedly snapped without any outside collision or driving error. Moving at low speed. Avoided catastrophic incident being on a local road and not the highway.

Here is a tesla in the junkyard:https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=26437884&rownumber=57&loadrecent=truethe car has been in a rollover accident and is severely damaged. It has bio-hazard stickers which means that occupants have been injured.the car is badly damaged and i have no knowledge of the circumstances of the crash. However, given the many other cases of suspension failures in the teslas it is a least a possibility that a suspension failure did cause a loss of control of the vehicle.the back lh wheel is slanted over at an angle. There is no damage to the bodywork on that part of the car.it is difficult to imagine ascenario in which that wheel could have been forced outwards at the bottom in a rollover please note that i am not claiming there is absolute proof that a suspension failure caused this crash, only that there is a possibility of it.vehicle crashes are an everyday event and it is likely that the investigators at the scene were unaware that there have been so many cases of tesla suspension failures and that should look very closely at the circumstances of this crash to see if this may have been a factor.not only are there many wrecked teslas showing up in the junkyards with broken suspensions but there have been several crashes caused when teslas suddenly veered off the road.please investigate.concerned citizen etc. Etc.

While reversing my vehicle out of my driveway with the steering wheel turned all the way to the left, a loud snapping sound was heard from the front driver's side tire. Upon inspection, the cause of the sound was not visible. I continued driving a few miles while listening for any changes to the vehicle. A few miles down the road, i prepared to enter the freeway. As i depressed the brake pedal, there was a loud grinding noise emitting from the front of the vehicle. I pulled the vehicle off to the side of the road and called tesla roadside assistance. I advised them of my observations and was issued a preliminary diagnosis of debris in the brake caliper. I proceeded to drive my car to a high-pressure washing station to remove the debris. While parking at my destination, i noticed my steering wheel required a bit more force to durn the wheel; as i was encountering more resistance than usual while steering the vehicle. I got out and looked at the front driver's side wheel while the steering wheel was turned all the way to the left. I noticed a hole approximately 2' tall and 1' wide had been worn through the wheel well liner behind the rear of the tire. Through the hole, i saw some wire coverings and a piece of the vehicle's aluminum frame. I also observed the wheel would rub up against the exposed metal frame when the steering wheel was turned. I called tesla roadside again and updated them of my findings. The car was towed to the service center and subsequently diagnosed with a broken fore-link on the front driver's side suspension. The fore-links on both sides of the vehicle were replaced, as well as the wheel well liner.

Another tesla in the junkyard:https://www.copart.com/lot/50374997/photosthere is some collision damage on the lh side but the rh side is completely undamaged except that the rh back wheel has gone whompy indicating a broken suspension part.hardly surprising since the suspension parts appear to be made from monkey metal.these cars should all be taken off the road before more people get killed.

Left front suspension part broke allowing the tire to jamb into the wheel cowling.it happened on a city street then was unable to move, needed to be towed.i found a small cracked aluminum part under the car.it sounds like the recall that is now being discussed, at first they said it was my fault but they were"talked into" fixing it for free, thought you should know.

Please note:this is a complaint about a tesla model s 2017 located in united kingdom.your system will not accept the vin so i have substituted the vin of another tesla in a us junkyard.this is not done with any intent to mislead.here is the actual car i am complaining about.https://www.copart.co.uk/lot/53255428/photosthe air suspension has collapsed on all four wheels causing some minor damage to the wheel wells.the front lh suspension has been smashed to pieces.the driver's airbag has not deployed.all of the ball joints have snapped.the cast alloy steering knuckle has cracked in several places.these suspensions are simply too weak for a car of this weight and performance.please wake up to this.thank you.very concerned citizen.

Here is a discussion thread from united kingdom in which tesla owners report several cases of snapped suspension ball joints (photographs are included)https://speakev.com/threads/model-s-recall.109425/snip**** there have been a spate of teslas where the front suspension fails reversing on full lock, for some reason over the icey weather i saw reports of 3 in a matter of days. One hunch is a rubber bush becomes less malleable or brittle in the cold.......i take your point, and forums are a haven for the negatives, but there did seem to be a flurry of them on the facebook group a couple of weeks ago. I remember one was in the middle of guildford high street and the poor owner was berated for blocking a parking space!***this identical breakage of the ball joint stem has been reported to nhtsa many times before. It is still affecting late model teslas and it seems that the stem is made from two parts welded together. The fracture usually occurs close to the weld and in the zone that has turned blue from the heat of welding.in addition to the photograph from this discussion forum i have attached a close up photograph of a broken part which has the same failure.i do not believe that tesla is going to fix this problem voluntarily but rather that they will continue to cover up and deny the breakages.

Here is a model s in the junkyard.https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=26437884&rownumber=77&loadrecent=trueit has been in a rollover crash.it is badly damaged and has bio-hazard stickers.it is obvious that occupants have been injured.the lh back wheel is whompy. Wheel and tire and the bodywork on that area of the car are completely undamaged.the tesla wheels are known to be made deliberately fragile so that they will not intrude into the body of the car during a crash.if the wheel had been struck hard during the rollover then it would be expected that the wheel would have broken.it seems highly probable that the rollover was caused by the suspension failure.the tesla suspension components are badly designed. Cast aluminum is a very poor choice of material. Cast aluminum has poor tensile strength and is prone to casting defects and fatigue.i request that you obtain suspension parts from new and wrecked cars and have them tested by a materials lab for mechanical strength, casting flaws, and factor of safety.thank you.concerned citizen.date of crash and number of injuries is an approximation based on appearance of wrecked car.here is a model s in the junkyard:it has been in a rollover crash.the lh rear wheel is whompy.the wheel and tire are undamaged. The bodywork on that part of the car is undamaged.rollover was most likely caused by the whompy wheel.

Here is a tesla in the junkyard:https://www.copart.com/lot/22469458the suspension has colllollopsed.the front wheels are allbrutalised!all the damage appears to be self inflicted after the suspension went whompy.please investigate.thank you.concerned senior citizen.etc etc.

My car is only 2 yrs old and while backing out of a parking space in a parking structure, i felt a lift then lowering of front driver's side wheel (like going over speed bump, but there was none) then would barely drive.told that the driver's front lower control arm is broken.

Here is another tesla in the junkyard: https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=28032585&rownumber=84&loadrecent=truethere has not been a collision.. No air-bags have gone off, all that has gone wrong is that the suspension has collapsed. All the wheels are jammed up in the wells. The front rh wheel is damaged by a broken suspension giblet.will you please demand an urgent recall and get these lethal jalopies off the roads. They are quite obviously unsafe at any speed.thank you.demented citizen

As i was backing out of my driveway at low speed in my 2017 tesla model s 90d (16,500 miles) with the wheels turned to the left, i heard a loud bang. I thought i ran over something so got out to look and saw nothing. As i proceeded to drive the car, it drove smoothly at first but i could hear a scraping or rubbing sound as i put on the brakes or hit the accelerator after braking. After parking at my destination, when i was backing out to leave i heard and felt rumbling and scrapping on the left front drivers wheel. I looked and saw that the left front wheel liner was broken and collapsed and the tire was rubbing on the wheel well. I pushed the liner into place and drove directly to tesla service (3 miles away) noticing my brakes where slipping when applied. On arrival the technician informed me my left front control arm was broken and asked me if i had been in an accident. I told him no, and he said they would need to elevate the car to look at exactly what happened. The left control arm fore link had spontaneously failed. Tesla fixed both the failed left and the intact right under warranty along with the wheel liner, aligned the car and it is now running normal. I have seen many complaints of the premature failure of the fore link assembly in the model s and believe this is a systemic problem.

The contact owns a 2017 tesla model s. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the suspension disabled message was displayed and the vehicle was lowered causing difficulty to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to tesla of mathews located at 9140 e. Independence blvd, matthews, nc 28105, where the front suspension was replaced. Approximately one month later, the rear suspension experienced the same failure and the vehicle was repaired by the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Backing into a parking spot the driver side front fore link failed while turning the steering wheel. This damaged the wheel, tire and wheel well.

Yet another case of broken suspension on a tesla.https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/fore-link-suspension-failure-while-driving-on-the-freeway.141701/model s 75 2017 with only 9500 miles. I got it in mar of 2017 so it hasn't even been 2 years.i was driving on the freeway in the fast lane and about to get into the carpool lane when traffic suddenly came to a halt. I slammed on my brakes and then started to drive again but realized i couldn't. The car shook and there was a loud screeching/grinding sound. Luckily a motorcycle cop happened to come by and called highway patrol and the freeway tow truck so help get me out of the fast lane and across 3 lanes to the right shoulder. Then, i called tesla roadside to get towed into the dealership. The service guy did not seem surprised and diagnosed the problem right away on seeing the car. The left front fore link in the suspension broke. If this was a known issue, i'm wondering why there hasn't been a recall. What if i was driving with my 2 kids? the car is still in the shop now being repaired. Even after the repair, is it safe to be driving a tesla? would you guys chance it with your kids in the car and risk that happening on the freeway? please respond with your opinion. Debating whether to sell my car right now. I don't know if this was a faulty part or faulty design and i see there have been other postings on this catastrophic mechanical failure. Follow up posts on that thread seek to deny and cover up the problem.this is a lethal defect.please investigate.not an owner...concerned citizen etc. Etc.

Here is a tesla in the junkyard:https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=27093880&rownumber=56&loadrecent=truethe rh rear wheel and suspension have fallen off completely.it is hard to say if that was merely the result of the collision or if it actually caused the collision. However, the lh back wheel has also gone whompy and yet that side of the car has not been hit at all.these cars are heavy and have a very low centre of gravity due to the batteries at the base of the car.in a normal car it is possible to spin 360 degrees even on a dry road and to cause the tires to smoke. This would not cause the suspension of any modern car to snap. In the event of a tesla having to swerve and/or brake hard the force on any of the wheels could easily be in excess of 1 ton.to provide a reasonable margin of safety the suspensions should be capable of withstanding at least a 2 ton force.looking at the flimsy cast alloy parts and the brittle fragile bolts it is blindingly obvious that there is insufficient factor of safety.please go and inspect this car to find out why the suspension has broken on both sides.thank you.concerned citizen, etc. Etc.

Suspension fire link made of aluminum broke

Here is a suspension part for a tesla up for sale on ebay.https://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-2015-tesla-model-s-right-rear-suspension-toe-link-oem-1043964-00-c-g252/162890358538?epid=908253627&hash=item25ed059f0a:g:ooyaaoswqfzaekms&vxp=mtrthe photographs (attached) showthat the eye of the link has been stretched and is liable to snap with any load applied.this shows just how absurdly weak these critical parts are even when in new condition. There is a thriving market in used tesla parts salvaged from wrecks because tesla charges very high prices for parts and labor.tesla is known to be very reluctant to repair cars that have had any kind of suspension repairs.this is forcing owners to perform dangerous diy repairs.this is putting many road -users lives in danger.please take action.concerned citizen

I was backing out of parking spot when i heard a loud clunking noise from the front passenger wheel well.the tire was unstable and wobbly. I took pictures underneath to be able to see the problem, and noticed a hunk of metal on the ground.see attached pic.turns out the fore link had snapped near the tire attachment.seems like this is a known issue and has since been redesigned but not recalled.why wouldn't this be a recall if its a serious safety issue?i can only imaging what disaster could have happened if i was at highway speeds!!!

Here is a tesla model s in the junkyard.https://www.iaai.com/vehicledetails/36599781?rownumber=2the back wheel and suspension has simply fallen off.other than this the car is unmarked and in immaculate condition.it has not been in a crash ( due only to good fortune)the back suspension has simply fallen to bits.the air suspension has failed causing the wheels to jam up in the wells until the strain caused the suspension to snap.tesla makes suspension parts from low quality extruded aluminum.this same failure happens over and over and has played a part in many fatal crashes.check out this collection of photos to see many more examples.https://www.flickr.com/photos/136377865@n05/sets/72157658490111523/how much more evidence do you need before demanding a recall?yours whompily[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Here is a model x in the junkyard:https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=26530615&rownumber=47&loadrecent=trueit is listed as having suspension damage.the only part of the car that is damaged is the rh wheel area.the photographs are not very clear but it does look as though the lower suspension arms have snapped apart.there is almost no damage forward of the front wheel that would account for the damage.the digital display has an alert that says "suspension needs service"you can say that again mister garrison!please take action to prevent further unnecessary deaths and injuries.concerned citizen.

When backing out of a parking spot and turning the wheel to the left (at a very low rate of speed).i heard a loud pop.the left front wheel felt like it was in a bind as well as making a loud grinding sound.the car had to be towed to the tesla service center.the technician diagnosed the problem as a broken control arm.he could not tell me what caused the arm to break.this could have been disastrous if driving on the road at normal speed.

This complaint is made on behalf of a tesla owner in norway.norway is a big market for teslas.the nhtsa website is near impossible for owners outside of usa to use because it needs a usa to be supplied even though it is valid for overseas owners to complain.the attached photographs show a tesla with a wheel that went whompy whilst being reversed.the text that describes the incident is also included.here is the tweet from owner https://twitter.com/ignorancebliss_/status/1041647129318576128owners in norway have been reporting similar cases of broken axles and whompy wheels for several years.https://elbilforum.no/forum/index.php?topic=31341.0please look at the bigger picture.these are not isolated freakish events. There have been literally hundreds of cases like this. All caused by undersized fragile suspension components.please demand an urgent recall.thank you.

Driving on highway on autopilot when another car cut into my lane immediately in front of me.i slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting him and heard a horrific noise.after the brakes stopped my car i had difficulty steering & still heard a terrible grinding noise underneath the car, but was able to limp off the highway to a safe place.i discovered that the suspension had broken.after car was taken to nearby tesla service location i read that there had been issues with the suspension in my model year 2017 and that in china tesla had agreed to repair this defect, but that in the u.s. So far they had deemed it 'wear and tear'.i understand there are attempts at some legal class action suits going on.they removed and replaced both front lower fore links with updated parts and replaced damaged left front wheel arch liner and said the failure was due to 'metal fatigue, most likely onset by the sudden braking maneuver'.the charge was initially over $1,300, but as soon as i mentioned my knowledge of the aforementioned suspension problems, tesla immediately said the entire cost would be covered as 'goodwilll service'.

Please excuse me for being so persistent in my reporting of tesla defects.i am a man on a mission.the affected car is a 2017 tesla model s, i do not have the vin so i have used one from a wrecked vehicle instead.here is a thread discussing tesla suspension breakages.https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/lower-control-arm-failure.172590/#post-4173704***coloradogirl22, nov 5, 2019i have a 2017 model s. Yesterday, when i was backing up slowly in a parking lot, i heard a loud crunching, scraping sound, and then my front right wheel "fell off." taking a closer look, it appears that the lower control arm sheered off from the wheel assembly (see pics). I didn't hit anything and have no idea what could have caused it."*****see attached photographs.this time, rather than a cracked alloy casting it is the shaft of the lower ball joint that has snapped.this same failure has been reported many times.this ball joint stem looks to be of very poor quality and is undersized for the weight of the car.this is bad design. Bad manufacture. Bad inspection. Bad maintenance.on the tesla forums owners who are considering reporting this failure are strongly discouraged by the tesla congregation.although many of these suspension breakages are reported to have happened at low speed, it is likely that some have happened at high speed and the owners did not live to tell the tale.please investigate.thank youkeef

Here is a tesla in the junkyard:https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=27064044&rownumber=22&loadrecent=truethe suspension has collapsed on all 4 wheels.it looks as though this caused the car to come to a sudden stop and that another vehicle then collided with the back of the tesla. The damage caused by that impact looks relatively minor and could not be the cause of the back wheel going whompy.the tread is badly worn away on the inside edge.it looks as though the wheel has been rubbing up against the wheel well until it finally wrenched loose and caused a failure to proceed.this car is less than 1 year old. The rate of crashes in tesla cars is astonishingly high.please go and inspect some of the wrecks such as this one to determine if mechanical failure caused the crash.thank you.concerned citizen.date of crash is an approximation.

Front driver side control arm/fore link assembly snapped and broke while pulling out of a parking spot.low speed, standard pavement.felt like i had run over a nail where the front of the car lifted up slightly, popped, sounded like a tire pop, but then would continue to drive.i drove it home, but could feel the car wasn't right.steering wasn't very responsive.

The contact owns a 2017 tesla model s. While the contact was exiting the driveway, the suspension arm fractured on the driver's side of the vehicle. The defect led to scratches on the inside of the front driver's side wheel. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact notified the manufacturer of the failure and was informed that something may have struck the vehicle and caused the suspension failure. The contact disputed this claim. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and they refused to service the vehicle until the contact could provide a collision report. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 30,300.

For a few days i noticed a clunking noise emanating from the left front of the car when going over uneven pavement. Then while backing out of a parking space, the tire collided with the wheel liner and the car would not move. The car was towed to the tesla dealership where it was found that the front driver caster arm was broken. I later read that there had been other reports of 'linkages near the ball joints' of the suspension failing, allowing contact between the tire and the wheel liner. This sounds a lot like what happened to my car so i wanted to share my experience

Here is a tesla in the junkyard:the attached photographs show that the lower suspension ball joint has snapped.there is no way that the collision damage could have caused a steel ball joint to snap before the weaker aluminum parts gave way.the seat of the ball joint is bright and shiny and completely undamaged.looking at all the other reports of similar failures example - https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/ms-suspension-ball-joint-failure.109847/it is certain that there is a bad batch of ball joints that fracture without warning.tesla is covering up this issue.this amounts to criminal negligence.please take immediate action before more lives are lost.thank you.concerned citizen.

I was driving on a city street when a car cut into my lane, so i slammed on the brakes real hard, and i heard a loud snapping sound and grinding noise afterwards.the lower control arm on the front passenger side is now popped out of place. I have searched online and found that this issue is not unique to me, many other people have the same issue.i was lucky that this happened when i was not driving on the freeway, there are cases of accidents because of this issue.tesla says it is not under warranty and there is no recall for this issue.

I just bought the 2017 90d a month and half ago at 59k miles now at 65k miles and heard a pop as i was pulling away from the curb at 3-5 mph. Thought it sounded weird but may have just been a water bottle or something. Unfortunately i was on a road trip back home from the bay area with my daughter.i stopped on the freeway for a bathroom break and heard my front wheel drivers side grinding against the wheel well. After speculation it looked as though while facing the wheel it offset to the right. I asked for a call from the sc via text after making an appointment and he said to bring my car in asap as it could be a safety issue. An hour longer into driving i braked lightly because a car came into my lane on i-5 and then there was a louder pop, grinding noise followed by a loud screech, and steam coming from the wheel well. I immediately pulled over and had the car towed to costa mesa service center with me, my 5 year old, and girlfriend in a tow truck.sc said that there's signs of impact and that it cannot be covered under warranty. Though their 'signs of impact' are clearly wear and tear and curb rash from parking margins( which i'm positive were there when the car was sold to me) i didn't hit anything and if i did the 4 cars in front of me would've too.and even more unfortunately tesla started the repairs before insurance got out there and now they're talking about not covering it. So i may be out 5k that i was quoted because tesla decided it'd be great to replace the front bumper and get it painted

Here is a tesla model 3 in the junkyard:https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=27388371&rownumber=56&loadrecent=truethis is the car that crashed into the creek a few weeks ago.here is an account of the crash.https://electrek.co/2018/01/15/tesla-model-3-jumps-creek-major-accident/the wrecked model 3 has a very whompy back wheel.the area around the wheel looks as though it has been battered by the wheel thrashing around after the suspension fell apart.the auction site lists the car as having suspension damage.there was no other vehicle involved in the crash and the black tire residue can only have been self inflicted.it seems that the suspension on the model 3 is just as fragile as on the model s and x.please go and inspect this car and determine the cause of the suspension failure.thank you.concerned citizen.## vin passed ## tesla model 3 ##

Yet another tesla in the junkyard: https://www.copart.com/lot/29600438front rh suspension collapsed. Here is another complaint about the tesla suspensions falling apart.the owner of this car is a tesla enthusiast who owns three teslas.i am doubtful that he will make a complaint to nhtsa himself so i am passing on this information in the public interest.here is a link to the video he has just uploaded.https://twitter.com/twitter/statuses/995816775106244609"we have been bringing our tesla into service several times regarding steering problems and they kept telling us they can't find anything and assured us it's safe to put our kids in it. My wife refused. Then this happened. @elonmusk @tesla @teslamotorsclub can someone explain?"the front wheel is moving backwards and forwards in the well and eventuallu smashes into the back of the well and rips off part of the underbody.you can see that the tread of the tire is badly worn indicating that there has been a problem with the suspension for some time.the incompetence of the tesla service centre is beyond belief.please do something about this.concernedcitizen

Here is another tesla freshly arrived in the junkyard:https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=27093880&rownumber=48&loadrecent=truethe lh back wheel has gone a bit whompy.the rh back wheel and suspensionhas completely fallen off.i does not look as though the car has been in a collision with another vehicle.the suspension has simply fallen apart in the usual tesla fashion.i think it is about time you investigated the reason behind these continuing incidents of tesla suspension failures.. Thank you.concerned citizen etc.

Here is another tesla in the junkyard.https://www.copart.com/lot/22469458/photosit has been hit in the rear.the front lh suspension has collapsed completely with the wheel jammed right up in the wheel well.even though the rear lh of the car has been hit the lh rear wheel is almost undamaged. It seems unlikely that the wheel could have withstood an impact hard enough to cause the suspension to be damaged sufficiently to skew the wheel sideways in the manner shown in the photographs.it seems highly likely that it was the collapse of the suspension at the front and rear which caused the tesla to suddenly slow down and then get hit by a following vehicle.there have been dozens of cases in which the tesla suspension has collapsed causing unexpected sudden deceleration and loss of control.it seems highly probable that this crash was also caused by a suspension failure.the design of the tesla suspension is such that it lacks limit stops. A simple air leak can cause the wheels to jam up in the suspension with disastrous consequences.example: https://forums.tesla.com/en_au/forum/forums/air-suspension-failure-very-unpleasant-resultssnip **the right front air strut failed due to a leak which caused the whole front of the car to drop so much that the wheels were rubbing against the inside of the wheel well, and the front of the car was rubbing on the ground. The car became absolutely not drivable - why doesn't tesla air-suspension design incorporate some sort of a stopper to stop the car from going lower than the lowest functional air-suspension setting? the service center tech had the same idea!!!! at least it would be drivable when the system failed. I am very concerned how the car would handle if this air suspension failure occurred while driving 70 mph.**please investigate.thank youconcerned citizen.

Reversing out of my driveway and front driver side suspension control arm broke. Wheel smashed into wheel well crumpling in some sections and damaging other car paneling. Car was unable to drive and partially blocked street until towed. No warning lights or errors were present before or after the incident. Vehicle has not been inspected by anyone yet. Safety was not greatly compromised aside, but had failure had occurred on busier street or higher speeds could have been catastrophic.

The wheel control arm broke for no reason. It seems to be defective from the time it was made, it happened with a popping sound when parking

2017 model s 75d,suspension defect. Pulling out of my garage, i heard a snap when i turned the steering wheel. I drove about 1 mile and could hear clicking. Did not receive an error message from the car, but i came back home and made an appointment with tesla repair. I tried to drive it to the appointment, but the entire front end of the car dropped and scraped as i pulled it out of my garage. I called tesla roadside assistance and had it towed to the tesla repair shop. I never received any warning or messages from the car system.

This is a complaint about the tesla model 3i have had to file this under model s because your site does not yet allow model 3 complaints to be filed.the following video shows clearly that the model 3 is the most dangerous car on the road.https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6dws5dthe reviewers show how almost all of the important controls require the driver to take his eyes off the road while he fiddles with tiny icons on the screen.this is the most badly designed car ever made in terms of driver distraction.add the fact that this car is aimed at the youth market and you have a recipe for disaster.please watch this video.please take action before people get killed.thank you.concerned citizen.

The mcu1 on my tesla has has gone completely dark while driving the vehicle.before going completely black, i lost navigation, blinkers were not operative, entertainment went out, a cryptic message appeared indicating that i needed to charge my car immediately.before going completely black, all climate functions stopped.this has happened 3 times in the last 7 weeks.tesla service assured me that nothing was wrong and that a simple reset and clearing some data would solve the problem.i think that this loss of function is a sign of a failing mcu and that tesla is refusing to acknowledge it.a replacement cost $1,000..........and it is replaced with a refurbished unit that is exactly the same as the unit that failed in the first place!

Tesla s trunk opens after manual pressing close button from inside truck

Reoccuring display issues. Blanking out of screen.images on the display that will not disappear unless re-booted, loss of environmental controls such as fan and ac, occasional loss of all sound (blinkers, media, etc.the vehicle was in motion on occasion and also when initially starting the vehicle. The unsafe condition is loss of access to most of the vehicle controls as the display blacking out makes critical control access problematic.attached are images below. I have discussed this with tesla service center.they advised that this is a software error.they do not identify the error or when it will be corrected.i have made several requests with the tesla service center in austin texas to have this resolved.they indicate that the review of logs based on the dates and times of the incidents do not indicate a hardware malfunction such as the display or emmc chip.please note i have other files, but could not load them.

Mcu1 failure; requires rebooting several times weekly to start up. Sporadically doesn't charge on schedule or from the app. Need to start the charge from in the car, seat heaters sporadically come on, climate can't be controlled; stays where it is, can't connect to car via app, location of car gets stuck.

Recall number 21v035 is not being honored by tesla service center. I have contact tesla customer support and they suggested i contact you. Prior to this i had arranged a service appointment based on communication from tesla about the malfunctioning part. Service center refused to honor tesla corporate communication to consumer

The central computer (large screen in the middle) does not perform well and freezes while driving or sometimes wont let me start. Tesla said nothing wrong with it as on their system doesnt show any software issue and so they will not do anything. I am paying telsa to change this to mcu2. The date does not refer to any specific date this problemoccured.

Mcu still failing after having it replaced.

Center console screen freeze and goes black filed multiple complaints but didnt get a proper answer from tesla they suggested to pay 2500 for new mcu 2, its very frustrating as they don't respond to calls, this issue happens very often and all they give me is an excuse

The wheel control arm broke for no reason. It seems to be defective from the time it was made, it happened with a popping sound when parking

The center screen/console crashes and stays off for long periods of time when starting the car and when driving.

My mcu is continuing to power off while i'm driving and the small screen takes longer to boot up. This also happens when surfing still before i start out of my garage.

My 2017 tesla model s p100d suffers from severe degraded "infotainment" computer. Tesla has said it is not a problem with the emmc (existing ntsb recall) in my case, but instead inadequate processing power for the new software, and they've recommended a $2500 "upgrade". The system randomly goes to blank screens, fails to navigate properly, freezes, and is a major distraction while driving. Tesla has offered no solution to the problems.

The mcu in my car simply stopped working. I could drive it but had no speedometer, no signals, nothing that is critical to driving safely. It would not start consistently and i was afraid it would stop in the middle of the highway on my way home. The mcu is the central computer in the car that controls everything.

Media control unit (mcu1) having problems, doesn't videos record properly, lot of pixcellation, hangs up abruptly, yellow lines observed

The mcu screen goes blank repeatedly.it requires a reboot.when this occurs loss of numerous vehicle functions occurs which creates safety issues.control of defogging, rear back up camera etc are some of the last safety features.currently has only occurred in stationary vehicle

While in motion or stationary, the touchscreen can become unresponsive or show significant lags which impact the use of gps, backup camera, climate controls essentially all controls that are accessed via the touchscreen. I have contacted tesla service several times over the past two years and no resolution has been made. The vehicle is under warranty, but they won't replace the mcu because they say "this is to be expected."

Tesla mcu fails intermittently- rendering autopilot and all safety features associated useless. Also causes extreme scare to driver when failure occurs, as they believe car is off/not working.occurs on numerous occasions, both on startup and while driving.

My car was recalled due to the 8gb emmc recall and this is my second tesla. They have my old vin number and not my new vin and the account has an issue finding the recall.i need help.

I was attempting to park, the car was traveling at perhaps 2 miles/hour, when the car suddenly accelerated, climbed a burm, hit a tree, and stopped on the other side of the burm in the middle of the street.

Infotainment extremely slow many time it freezes or black out. It has been happening since day, i always take it to the dealer for repair an they says that everything is ok just clogged up due to data. Some electrnic device is not working properly, they don't want to fix it.

Completely black mcu screen that does not turn on even after a reboot. No ac, no warning sounds, and most importantly not being able to use turn signals when the car is both stationary and moving.

Touchscreen glitches that led to the loss of several safety-related features including back up camera, sensors, climate control

The main touchscreen on my tesla model s has failed multiple times in the last month. When it fails, i am unable to use backup camera, adjust headlights or climate control, all of which constitute a hazard. I am waiting for tesla service to diagnose the fault.

Vehicle interior heating system does not work properly. Only blows hot air at "hi" temperature, any other temperature blows cold air. This is effecting the defrosting feature as well. It will take 2-3 minutes to defrost the windshield while moving, making visibility 0, and dangerous to drive.

Park, drive, park, drive, reverse and neutral indicators ("p,d,r,and n" are about this size) on dash are way too small for aging drivers. Speed indicator is much larger, and there is room on the dash to make these indicators much larger. I have complained to tesla several times. I believe these would take a simple software change.

Mcu failure. It is becoming almost a daily issue with the mcu being very slow and occasionally the whole screen goes black with no hvac control and pixelated screen with poor navigation.

I got in my car on 1/12/2018 around 430pm pst and when i put the car in reverse the backup camera picture was a frozen picture from an earlier time, it was not live. I am certain of this because it was showing my garage door as closed, when it was in fact open. I rebooted the car and that seemed to fix it. This is incredibly dangerous. How am i supposed to trust the camera when backing up out of a spot in a public space? the screen could show a clear space behind me when in fact there is person or car behind me. The failure mode for the camera should be to show no picture, not an old one. The car is feeing the driver false visual information that could result in injury or death.

I complain that tesla failed to remedy the defect of malfunctioning emmc by replacing vcm daughterboard (see the letter received) within a reasonable time frame. Since last november i have received a number of letters from tesla informing the recall and nothing happened.

My tesla was built with mcu v1.0. It slows down and fails to respond few times. I have to park and then interact with it. Also, hearing that this mcu fails after certain period. Already there are several reports from cars built 2 yrs back (2015 - mine is 2017) that when mcu fails, it does operate alot of items that could pose safety issue. I am concerned that this was installed purposely by tesla so they can charge to make the upgrade by the fear of the safety issue.

The touchscreen in the car freezes resulting in many functions not working such as navigation, radio, turn signals, and so on. The issue occurs randomly irrespective of if the vehicle is parked or in motion. Tesla service has not taken any action even though the issue has been reported several times with a service request. They keep telling its a software issue and an update will come to resolve it

Autopilot 2 is very dangerous and has major issues on hills, turns and turn lanes that cause car to depart lane, new autopilot 2.5 released within one year of autopilot 2 but company is failing to upgrade the current unsafe autopilot 2

When any form of music playback fails (usb, radio, etc) the audio alert functionality of the car also is disabled. Any audio alarms (everything from blinker sounds to emergency brake warnings) cease to function until the music playback recovers from its error.

Model s has lost range compared to what was advertised.also many problems with ball joints that can cause difficult steering

The multi media unit lag & sometime become so unresponsive. It takes forever to reload the maps. I asked tesla 3 times but they kept saying they dont see the issue at all. They want me to pay $2500 to replace the screen.

I have contacted tesla multiple times for center screennot rebootingafter parking at shopping center or at home. This started in march 2019 and the problem has not been resolved. This happened agin a few days ago and i reported it to tesla. No response so far. Can not drive the car until the screen lights on. At one time i was told module needed to be changed but have had no action from tesla so far.need your help in resolving this problem.

My main screen would completely go black randomly and when that happens my instrument cluster in front of me would also go black and as a result i can't see how fast i'm going or my blind spots or anything really. It's the mcu that continues to have this problem and tesla won't replace it.

Recently i read an article titled 'us agency examining tesla unintended acceleration .' and i would like to report that i have had theexact same problem with my tesla s.three months after purchasing my tesla, i was parking my car when all at once it accelerated and hit the car in frontof me in the parking lot.it happened a total of 3 times in the first 16 months that i owned the car.i contacted tesla numerous times and after going backand forth with them, they told me that it was my fault because they said that i mixed up the brake and gas pedals. It was the weirdest feeling having thecar accelerate all at once.i did not mix up the pedals.in the previous 50+ years of driving, nothing like this ever happened to me and then all at once, only 3 months after getting my tesla, it started.i have saved e-mails between tesla and myself concerning this issue if youwould like to see them.i hope you are able to help solve this problem and to get tesla to admit that there is a problem.if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me (see below).p[lkp

Autopilot has failed many times. Car almost crashed. Took it to dealer for repair but they didn't fix the problem after spending $100,000, the autopilot should work as designed.

On october 18th, my tesla was a minor fender bender .i was on auto pilot and going on a< 3 mph speed before the exit ramp. Another car was stationed in front of me and autopilot did not realize the car came in front of me and hit the other car. Though the damages are minimal & the other person waived his right to claim insurance .i wanted to understand the reason and the root cause of the current accident so that i can be confident to use the auto pilot going forward.hence i filed a complaint with the customer support. After 4 weeks of investigation and repeated nudging from my side to expedite the investigation, i was told that the car was in auto pilot mode, and the car did not realize the other car in front until the accident occurred and the car did apply brakes after the incident.i also requested for the investigative logs and notes for my analysis but the request was rejected by the customer support

The contact owns a 2017 tesla model s. While driving 5 mph, the vehicle accelerated rapidly without warning. As a result, the contact crashed into a garage door. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was towed to tesla buena park (6692 auto center dr, buena park, ca 90621, (714) 735-5696) and was awaiting diagnostic testing and repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

While attempting to park the car in a parking space the car accelerated on it's own and crashed over a small concrete retaining wall and crashed into another vehicle.my car and the car that was struck were totaled.

On 12/03/20 at around 9:57am, after i slowly turned left into a parking near a white truck and just about to back up into my company's ev charging parking lot then the car suddenly sped forward climbing over the curb of the median separating the parking area and a driveway on the side of another company's building then running thru the median and heading fast toward the building before i slammed the brake in time to stop the car ~15 feet away from hitting the building. The driver's side of the car scraped a tree on the median and the driver side mirror broke the tree supporting pole. After the car was towed to tesla service center 2 hours later, they reported the next day that they found no error with the car. I was totally caught off guard by the unintended acceleration of the car that icould not brake early enough to stop the car on the median after it climbed over the curb. It was a clear day, i turned left into the parking with caution and focus on safety especially knowing the white truck was nearby and the median with the tree was visible in front. This is where i performed backing up my car almost daily at work so i could charge my car in the company's ev charging parking lot for the last 6 months. Before, during and after this life threatening incident, my health, mind, eye sight and awareness were and are very good. I do not smoke, drink or have any medication that can affect my driving control with safety. I reported this unintended acceleration to my auto insurer and assessment for damage repaired with tesla auto body shop is under progress. There is no police report because the incident happened on private property

On 1/19/20 at 1623 phoenix time while coming to a stop on a surface street the car suddenly accelerated. Prompt application of the breaks prevented an accident. This is the first time this has happened.

The tesla sped up and had a sudden unintentional acceleration. I was driving down the driveway slowly and the car suddenly accelerated to a very high speed. It almost went over a wall and i had to swerve the wheel to avoid going over a wall. When i slammed on the brakes, the car stopped fully only a few inches away from another parked vehicle.

The contact owns a 2017 tesla model s. While pulling in the driveway at approximately 5 mph, the contact attempted to step on the brake pedal to slow down the vehicle. However, the vehicle accelerated through the garage and crashed into the house. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed. The contact sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention. The contact stated that the vehicle would need to be towed. The contact called tesla at 858-558-1555 (located at 4545 la jolla village dr, suite d17, san diego, ca 92122) and was referred to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 21,859. The consumer stated she did receive medical attention for this accident.

The contact owns a 2017 tesla model s. While attempting to park the vehicle at a low speed, the vehicle suddenly accelerated with the brake pedal depressed. The vehicle proceeded to jump the curb and crashed into some bushes. There was no warning indicator illuminated before, during, or after the failure occurred. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was driven to the contact?s residence. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 1,772.

Stopped at a busy city street intersection for around 2 minutes waiting for the green light. My car was second car from the intersection on a slight up slope. Obviously the brake was fully engaged but my car suddenly creeps up slope and gently bumps into the car in the front. This impact pushes the other car forward and my car rolls back. The forward collision alarm went off but i could do little to stop the car other than try and press on the brake even harder. The car again rolls up again and gently bumps the other car again. Again the collision warning went off but i felt i had no control over the car. I could finally get the control back after that. Luckily there were no pedestrians and cross traffic had already stopped. Please note that there was little or no damage to either car. The car seemed to have a mind of it's own!there was little chance of driver error in this case as i was just waiting for the green light and there was no panic situation for a mistaken accelerator press. I could not get access to the car logs as tesla policy wouldn't allow it.please note that no self-driving software was installed and creep mode was off as it always is.

Recently replaced tesla windshield has ghosting issues. When reported to manufacturer, tesla says its within specifications, no test results or the type of test completed was provided as proof.

Center display frequently goes blank or does not activate for several minutes, when starting the car, disabling the display that shows the backup camera. This has occurred more than 30 times. Tesla sent a letter saying owners affected by this problem (emmc failure) are entitled to a free repair, yet they declined to repair my car because their remote diagnostics could not determine that a problem existed. Additionally, when this occurs, most vehicle comfort features are disabled, including climate control. It is a very large distraction to the driver when the system completely fails like this while driving.

Mcu sporadically freezes and/or reboots (while in motion) without any input from us. This renders the defrost controls and the backup camera inoperable until the system restarts, which takes several minutes. The problem has gotten progressively worse over time. This is a known mcu failure due to manufacturing error on the part of tesla causing multiple replacements and rendering the car inoperable.

Purchased a used tesla, today (on 2nd day) driving on local street, it was raining a bit, turned on wipers, didn't work, pulled over and attepmted few more times, no luck.tesla attempted to address the issue remotely through basic troubleshooting but no luck.when wipers were turned on, it was pulling downward instead of going up.they ended up towing car, currently in service center.

Touchscreen went blank and would not start up. Has to drive without climate control, defrosting and backup camera for 45 minutes.

My car is only 2 yrs old and while backing out of a parking space in a parking structure, i felt a lift then lowering of front driver's side wheel (like going over speed bump, but there was none) then would barely drive.told that the driver's front lower control arm is broken.

I took my car to the tesla shop on independence at charlotte, nc, as external noise was increasingly audible. I was called from the tesla shop to replace the tires as a possible cause. The tires were replaced & alignment done 2/16/21 for $1900.picked car 2/17/21 and saw the tire pressure came up right at the parking lot (stationary) and stating left front tire pressure 35 (42 psi normal). Tesla was swamped with customers so i went to discount tires to get the pressure restored 2/18/21. Morning of 2/19/21, pressure check came back on. I went back to discount tires, same tire pressure was down to 29. I called tesla that something was wrong with the replacement tire right from the shop, hence i drove straight to the tesla shop from discount tires as i couldn't risk this happening again. Tesla found a crack in the wheel of the faulty tire and asked me to pay $1,000 and they would wave the labor of changing the wheel as a courtesy. Issue is, how did the wheel become fractured since dropping it at the shop? i never had this issue before dropping off the vehicle. Tesla would not accept responsibility but offered me 2 options; i pay $1,000 for a new wheel or they loan me a wheel to go fix my cracked wheel elsewhere. I was frustrated, hence i took the loaner wheel. On leaving the tesla shop, the tire pressure came on but this time for the right front wheel. It was like having a bad dream. Long story short, i went back to discount tire, there was an identical crack in the right front wheel. I went on tesla forum to review complaints from other customers and this is unfortunately common, especially amongst model s. This is likely manufacturing defects and can be catastrophic for road users if not urgently addressed. I am a physician and have seen the tragedy's people suffer when quality is compromised.

The wheel control arm broke for no reason. It seems to be defective from the time it was made, it happened with a popping sound when parking

Backing into a parking spot the driver side front fore link failed while turning the steering wheel. This damaged the wheel, tire and wheel well.

The complaint/ report also as https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kzcescbmbywp_ctenvb7a51l-xx5tdbjcwzkb_nqvss/edit?usp=sharing04/26/2017 15:06 i, as a registered structural/ civil engineer/ architect, drove my tesla model s 60d (which upgraded to 75d) stopped at traffic light and left turn casually after green lights, accelerate casually then hit unknown objects/ curb/ island, tyre burst, car stopped, no airbags pop out.the wheel broke no airbag pop out shows the hit is not severe but aluminium alloy wheel broke. A practical and due design would make wheel and tyre absorb the hit in 40~50 km/hr without break and burst makes the user of the auto safe. Telsa model s wheel is so fragile (the case is 19 wheel). Similar findings are reported by iihs and carthrottle ihs crash test footage of a 2016 tesla model s reveal a very disturbing problem with the car's wheels on impact, where they shatter of greater concern, however, is the behaviour of the cars aluminium alloy wheel. On small frontal impact, the wheel cracks and dramatically shatters, further reducing crash structure integrity and launching projectiles into the surrounding area.https://www.carthrottle.com/post/what-the-hell-is-going-on-with-tesla-model-s-wheels-on-impact/it just happened on me.the gravity of center is so low for model s and weight is so heavy. The momentum and force induced during impact should be considered with a proper wheel. Its very different with other ice or light weight, high center of gravity motor, since the impact vectors are quite different in nature. The wheel of tesla, at least for model s, is defect, and it should be notified and remedy. Its a defect and tesla should recall/ notify affected motors.please take a necessary look and consideration into the case for a safe motor as we expected.
