Had an alert show up: front passenger safety restraint system fault | contact tesla servicefirst time was in july 20, 2020; tesla service added a part under warranty: service kit - ocs rework(1479982-00-c)second time was on august 10, 2021; tesla service wanted to replace the whole seat out of warranty: na-m3 pass seat assy lhd rh prm pur blk no lumbar(7654324-01-d)

My wife is 5 feet tall and weighs 90 pounds.when sitting in the front passenger seat, the passenger side airbag indicator displays off.this means the passenger side airbag safety system is not available to her. The occupant classification system is failing at all times when she is in the front passenger seat..

Tesla model 3 (2018) proceeded to accelerate while brake pedal was depressed going through an intersection causing uncontrollable maneuver and vehicle control loss. The vehicle failed to respond to pedal input and failed to deploy airbags upon impact with a tree and fence continuing to accelerate throughout such incident. Autopilot was engaged prior to crash. No forward collision warning activated.

On april 24 19 morning [xxx](my wife) drove up multilevel parking lot at work 8100 jones branch drive, she initially chose a head in parking spot, then attempted to move the car forward to the next aisle, so the car would be facing front when she got out.the car picked up uncontrollable and extremely high speed and she felt out of control and could not move foot from accelerator to brake in the split second, all she could do was to steer slightly to hit a pole at that next spot, and avoid going across drive lane and over the barricade to a drop.the car suffered severe front damage and airbags opened, she had minor bruise.repair estimates caused insurance company to call it a total loss.1. Tesla claims to be reviewing electronic data but has not released conclusions so far.2. Why such high speed was picked up when all she wanted to do was crawl over to the next spot directly ahead (about 20 feet) from the previous spot.3. Why various electronic system, front collision warning, front collision avoidance, video sensors about obstructions, avoidance based acceleration control etc, failed to apply any speed reductions.photos of event, estimate from insurance are enclosed.i request your kind attention, and your analysis as to the safety failures. [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).*pm

My tesla didn't stop when i applied the brakes, i had a clear distance space between my car and the car i rear ended, any other car would have stopped when you apply the brakes but i think i felt like my car accelerated even i applied the brakes and never stopped. I would sincerely want you to investigate further my case as it could be dangerous for other cars outside when the car behaves this way. I did let tesla know about what happened and they are yet to get back to me with the details of their findings!

Frequent error stating "front passenger safety restraint system fault",with a red indicator for the airbag on display.error occurs at any time, stationary, in motion, on a city street and a highway.see attached photo

Multiple times, the passenger airbag indicator on the dashboard showed the airbag was not activate despite the passenger seat being occupied by a 112 pound person with a buckled seat belt.there is no active notification that the airbag is deactivated in the presence of indications of occupancy of that seat.this could lead an inattentive driver or passenger to believe everyone is safe when, in fact, the passenger is not safe.

Recently we see a warning 'front passenger safety restraint system fault/contact tesla service' i.e the air bag will not deploy initially thought this could be a bug. Tried resetting the system but not going away. This could be a serious safety issue.

I was at a stop at a red light and was rear-ended christmas eve night, causing my car to be pushed into the vehicle in front of me at the red light. I remember my abdomen hitting the steering wheel and complaining of stomach discomfort immediately following the accident (i've since gotten x-rays and will need 12+ months of chiropractor therapy). I noticed a burning smell inside the cabin, similar to the smell after firing a pistol. I figured it was the airbag, however, there was no deployment of an airbag. I was able to unbuckle the seat belt, but also noticed that it was not retracting and was stuck. The mechanism where it comes out of looked like it was dislocated as well. I noticed that the tesla's screen/display indicated "front left safety restraint system fault." the vehicle was purchased brand new 9 days prior (december 15) and had never been in any accident prior. I'm concerned that it could've been a worse crash that could have resulted in major injury if the seat belt did not act as it was designed to. I'm also concerned of the smell of the airbag (or what i believed to be an airbag post-deployment odor) when there was no actual deployment. Is this common?the vehicle has been at a body shop and it was determined that the entire seat belt needed replacing. My insurance is covering the front, rear, and safety system replacement costs. However, i have hesitation about trusting the vehicle's safety system, even after replacement parts have bee installed.

I was driving on auto pilot mode when i was going to make a right hand turn when in order to slow down at the traffic ahead of me, i applied the brakes but there was no brake action whatsoever.this was not a panic situation, it was just normal braking.when the brakes failed to actuate and the vehicle accordingly wasn't slowing down, in order to avoid hitting pedestrians or the vehicle in front of me, i swerved to the right and ended up hitting a tree.i sustained injuries as a result of this accident and totaled my car. The problem was the failure of the tesla (2018 model 3)brake system to work.

I have had a series of escalating incidents (see attached pdf) that have each involved the vehicle disabling automatic emergency braking system (abs), traction control, partial steering control, regenerative braking (for electric vehicle), and most recently experienced complete loss of steering function while reversing as well as an additional warning that my airbag was disabled.initially i was advised to reset my car since it may be a software glitch similar to a computer or phone needing a restart.after several incidents, i was advised to take it to a service center where i was informed that it was a firmware issues known to tesla, but experienced a critical shut down of my vehicle's performance and safety functions the next day.i have seen been informed that they have replaced the high voltage regulator and the wiring harness.i have not received an update since confirming that they believe the latest repair will make the car whole, safe, and functional.

We recently got into an sua with our current tesla 3. I was turning into my drive way and i came to a complete stop. While i was waiting for the gate to open and when i braked, the car suddenly sped up very fast and i stepped on the brake again but the car did not stop. The car was also in hold mode when i later checked i never stepped down on the accelerator hard enough to reach the speed of running through 2 cemented metal gates. The airbags didn't pop out and tesla's sensor break system also did not activate. I also believe that there was an issue with the computer system of my car a short while after i purchased my car (april 18, 2018). I was driving back home when the display screen was stuck on the park mode for the whole entire drive back. I couldn't turn on my signals, or see my mph. Even after i got home, it wouldn't turn off even after trying for 2 hours so i had to call roadside assistance and she told me a way to reset the car. ( i have videos to prove this.) there have also been incidents when i am braked and waiting at a red light. I obviously pressed accel when the light turned green, but the car went into park mode and i would get startled and quickly manually turn it into drive mode. This has happened approximately 4-5 times in the past year and even recently in 2021.

Driver felt sudden unintended acceleration while parking the car. The acceleration happened within the last couple of seconds when the car was turning 90% at pretty normal speeds to park. The car hit a tree, and suffered significant frontal damage.

The contact owns a 2018 tesla model 3. The contact stated while entering and starting the vehicle, the front driver side safety retrains fault message was displayed on the screen. The air bag warning light was illuminated on with error code: rcm-a021. The contact reached out to a local dealer who sent out a mobile mechanic to the residence to inspect the vehicle. The contact stated that the front driverā€™s side wiring harness was defective. The wiring harness was replaced and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 58,000.

Rear view camera often does not turn on (or is black, while side view cameras work); rebooting car's software system has no effect, as other owners have advised. Tesla mobile technician replaced camera, still doesn't work. Says it may be software or chip-related issue with media control unit.

Three separate problems: (1) rear camera goes black when backing up. (2) forward facing camera gives error on screen "driving visualization temporarily degraded" when driving. This happens on road and freeway. (3) screen became completely unresponsive to input. Map display was working. Following software reset procedure fixed this.

2018 tesla model 3. Consumer writes in regard to safety issue with backup camera. Camera will stop displaying image while vehicle is reversing.*as

The contact owns a 2018 tesla model 3. The contact stated that while using the automatic parking feature, the vehicle independently accelerated and crashed into a vehicle. There was no injury sustained. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to tesla (5544 okeechobee blvd, west palm beach, fl 33417, (561) 841-9281) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that dealers findings were that both hands were off the steering wheel and the brake and accelerator pedal were being depressed while attempting to parallel park. On another occasion after the vehicle was parked, the contact entered the vehicle and was locked in with the electrical function inoperable. The contact remained locked in for 45 minutes until security was able to remove her from the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to the same dealer where the 12 volt battery was replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle remained at the dealer. The contact was concerned for her safety and declined to retrieve the vehicle. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 11,776.consumer stated car had issue the moment consumer purchased it.

The screen freezes and reboots while driving.i have no idea how fast i'm going the entire care goes dark. This has been going on for 2 months.i have taken it in.but they tell me there is no fix. Car is not safe to drive when you have no idea how fast your going.

My car was parked and was charging in our garage when it suddenly shut off. I got into the car to get something, but noticed the car's computer screen did not light up. I tried to open the glove box and it also would not open. When i tried to open the car door button, it also would not open the door while i was still inside. I got out of the car using the manual car handle and realized the charger would not unplug from the car either. I was very scared that the car was going to burn because the battery was charging at the time and everything suddenly happened. In addition, the backseat doors do not have a manual car handle to open the door. In an event of an emergency and the power shuts off, how are passengers sitting in the backseat going to escape from the vehicle??? the cause was due to a 12v battery malfunction.

I was driving my model 3(in motion) in the left lane of a 3 lane local road (3 lanes each direction). The car suddenly displayed2 warning light, "unable to drive" and another warning about vehicle powering down, move to a safe location. The car stopped a few seconds after displaying these warnings. I did not have enough time to maneuver the car to a safe location. I was stuck on the left of the busy roadway. I was offered help by a police officer and a pedestrian to help push the car to safety. I was unable to engage the car in neutral to allow the folks helping me to push the car. The 2 main major safety concerns was the vehicle shutting down completely and then being unable to shift the vehicle to neutral to move it to safety. Please investigate this. Myfamily could have been in the vehicle with me and we could have been seriously injured or killed in an accident. Thanks.

About 6 weeeks ago the horn on my tesla model 3 stopped working. I have had one very close call where i almost got in a wreck because the other driver was making a u turn in front of me who did not see me coming. I could not get their attention because my horn did not work. I had to go into the lane of on coming traffic to avoid a serious wreck.i have made multiple efforts to get tesla to get this repaired. They have failed every single time to take care of this or even schedule an appointment. Communication has been very little and now they are not responding at all. I have emailed them and texted them. Even tried to get them to help thru their twitter account. Please help !!

Within the first day, my 2018 tesla model 3 lost all instruments, safety indicators, and touchscreen controls while driving on the freeway. The car did this *multiple* times, without warning. Each incident lasted several minutes. It was alarming, and there was no way to tell what systems in the car were working (such as automatic emergency braking or cruise control), and no way to changesettings, or even know if the turn signals were working as i tried to exit the highway.the model 3 has only one screen where everything (including basic instruments) is displayed and most controls are accessed. When the screen freezes, we lose access to basics like speedometer, collision safety or system failure warnings or even speedometer readings, as well as control of headlights, wipers, climate control, lock / unlock, navigation, and many other essential functions. During these failures, we do not know what if any safety systems are still operating.typically when this problem occurs, the screen "freezes" while driving, without warning or any indication of trouble. The screen remains unresponsive for a lengthy period (typically minutes) until the screen goes completely black for a time, and then eventually a tesla logo appears, followed by instruments and controls gradually being restored.the car was delivered from the factory to my home in this state, with other obvious defectsā€”tesla did not permit us to test-drive it. The next night a tesla technician saw the failure happening in real time, through tesla's remote diagnostics. He said the car was probably not safe to drive. I asked to return the car under tesla's satisfaction policy, and he agreed to start the refund process. Tesla refused to take the car back, and the car has continued to exhibit these failures. This has been happening since the car was delivered in october of 2018.

Filed complaint on 8/30/2019 nhtsa id# 11301634.

The contact owns a 2018 tesla model 3. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph while in the auto pilot mode and with the vehicle merging onto a ramp which is descending downward with on coming vehicles stopped approximately 200 feet ahead the auto pilot did not deactivate and slow the vehicle causing the vehicle to crash into the rear of asecond vehicle. During the crash no injuries were reported. A police report was taken at the scene (9675202000182). The vehicle was destroyed and towed away. The manufacturer and local dealer tesla of costa mesa (3140 pullman rd. Costa mesa ca) were notified of the incident. The failure mileage was 20,500.

The backup camera and side view cameras are intermittently not displaying while reversing. The camera displays the trajectory lines, however, the image is totally black. There is no camera feed. This problem has remained, despite several software updates. The camera at times will freeze on a previous image, not the current 'live' image.

Vehicle will emergency brake on highway without warning and no other cars around. Also unable to access charging port to charge vehicle.

-multiple times that the screen has gone black while actively driving the car (both on city streets and highway)-episodes where the screen is unresponsive; thus, being unable to use any functions of the car using the touchscreen both while stationary and while driving the car-car not rebooting/resetting despite multiple attempts while stationary-car sounds suddenly being cut off while driving- unable to hear turn signal, gps, etc-and while driving-car/system implements auto-correction measure to reposition the car thinking the car is departing from the lane, when in fact, the car is not swerving or trying to do a lane switch (car is driving in lane on a highway).due to this faulty system, car has unsafely drifted while in motion and does not let human guidance trump this mechanical error.

The contact owns a 2018 tesla model s. While driving at 5 mph the vehicle independently accelerated, jerked and stalled. The seat belt warning lights were illuminated. The driver and passenger safety restraint fault message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to tesla 6701 amador plaza rd, dublin, ca 94568, (925)361-1173 where it was diagnosed that the safety sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 19,241.

Our car caught fire sitting in the driveway of my house. This happened around 4am in jan9, security footage from neighbors has been handed over to fd and tesla engineering team. The last trip was 10 hours prior to parking the car.we are lucky it was not in the garage or charging, the damage could have been more than a few broken windows, as soon as we saw the fire we called the fd, they put out the fire within 15 minutes.

Vehicle primary drive motor failed suddenly with on screen messages like: "unable to drive - pull over safely", "car shutting down - pull over safely". The vehicle becomes totally immobile when this happens, in my case on a busy road at an intersection after exiting a highway and merging into traffic.

The contact owns a 2019 tesla model 3. The contact stated that the touch screen failed to activate and went blank. The contact then attempted to charge the vehicle but was unable to do so due to the touch screen failing. The manufacturer tech support was called and assisted him in restoring the touch screen however; the contact experienced a delay in response. On another occasion, while entering the vehicle and reversing from a parking space; the rear back up sensor had a delay and did not warn the driver that he was getting near another parked vehicle. As a result, the contact crashed into the parked vehicle causing scratches to the bumper. The alert for the back up camera was delayed during the incident. A policer report was not filed. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for a diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 15,000.

My wife ( driver for over 40 years, no accidents, no tickets) was stopped at a traffic light on a downgrade, foot on the brake, in our brand new tesla model 3 when it suddenly began to move forward and crashed into cars stopped at the light in front of her. My wife tried desperately to stop the tesla with the brakes and emergency brake. Ou car was stopped by the car in front. I hate to think of what could have happened had there not been car in front. We purchased the tesla in december of 2018 and the crash occurred in february of 2019.after the crash i called tesla, then i went to their showroom in san diego, they referred me to teslalegal.com.so i asked my attorney to help. In the meantime, after the tesla was released from the body shop it was sent to the tesla service center in san diego. Immediately, my attorney emailed [email protected] for tesla to preserve and provide the electronic driving record to determine what happened to the car. Service center did not respond to our request.at this point tesla definitely knows that we have a problem.our attempts at contact began immediately after the crash in february. As of may 15th there is no contact yet. With the knowledge that i had an attorney, tesla service still sent me documents to sign. They recently sent me a text that they have 'updated firmware with the latest version' and the car 'is safe to drive at this time.' to me it sounds like they modified the tesla. My attorney has called and emailed tesla service, tesla customer service, tesla legal, and tesla headquarters in fremont. She has written lettersto all of the above and mailed them certified mail. In the letters she has explained that my wife and i are fearful of driving the car and definitely don't want anyone else to get killed. The tesla sits in the service center storage.

Because i hit a small puddle of water on the road, my vc right got water inside and the passenger seat started tilting forward, then move forward then tilt back. All moves to the maximum range. If someone would've been sitting on it, the best case would've been some broken legs, worst case death. I was unable to operate the passenger seat with the controls. Had to go to service for emergency, and they said that 2018 models have a problem that lets outside water inside and shortcuts vc right. They replaced that vc right computer and said they retrofitted it and hope it does happen again. Now i have 2 model 3's and when i asked service to retrofit the other one too, the asnwer was well if it didn't happen it's okay no need. I'm not feeling safe to put my loved ones on passenger seat if it's raining, car wash, or anything that involves water.

Car frequently fails to unlock, or to shut down. Have reported this dozens of times to tesla who has failed to acknowledge or fix the issue. When leaving, the car will sometimes sit with all systems running, doors unlocked, ready to be driven away.when trying to enter, it frequently will not unlock as claimed. We cannot depend on the car to unlock if we were in any kind of rush or danger.picture below shows the car refusing to unlock as claimed via the app, which is the "main" way to unlock a model 3. "keyless entry" is terribly unreliable, and often requires getting out the backup cardkey and trying to manually unlock the car.

Car interface bugged out and would not recognize with the phone key or key card to start after entering the parked vehicle. Touch screen flashed on and off. Attempted resets to no avail. System would randomly shut itself off and not turn back on.

I have notified tesla several times that my vehicle shuts off on its own. I have taken my car to the tesla service center twice where i have been told that it is a "firmware" issue and will be resolved with an over the air update. However there is no timeframe on when this update will happen. This morning at 8:20am while driving my car to work on vincent street turning left on irwindale ave in the city of irwindale, ca the vehicle display completely shut off leaving me with no way to see my speed, controls, or gauges. Obviously this was quite concerning as all the controls for the car are located on the touch screen display. After a solid 5-10 seconds the display went back on and i arrived to at my work location.

While i was parking, the car it unexpectedly accelerated and jump over the side walk and crash itself into the building and destroyed the face of the building and the car. The air bags deployed from the impact of the car.

The contact owns a 2018 tesla model 3. When the vehicle was started, the main 15 inch screen command center was black and none of the instrument panel gauges appeared. The vehicle was taken to tesla (50 ogden ave, westmont, il 60559) to be diagnosed six times, but they could not duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 6,000.

My tesla when on autopilot on a freeway running less than 5 mph due to traffic was right behind a big truck and the car never stopped and bumped into the truck. An attempt to brake manually was done but the autopilot wouldnt deactivate and give us back the control to stop the car. I have a video from my front cam with the incident. I was lucky my car was not driving at a higher speed if the same incdent could happen as like may others who got killed.

The 12v auxiliary battery failed around 6:45pm pst on aug. 8, 2021, causing the car to be unresponsive - tesla acknowledged this.there was no warning prior to the battery failure. The driver (my wife) was trapped in the car because the electronic door latch would not open and the windows would not retract.my wife was panicked, crying and kicking at the window.i had to break the window to get her out.tesla replaced the 12v battery as an item under warranty.they believe that i/we should have know about the manual door release to avoid breaking the window.this manual release is unmarked and inconspicuous.tesla claims that the manual door release is described in the car's user manual; however, the car's user manual is electronic (no hard copy provided) and was not accessible because the car was unresponsive.the user manual can only be accessed from the car's display screen.there is no telephone number to call a tesla representative and no way to access the user manual via the iphone application.i had no choice but to break the window.tesla is aware that their 12v batteries are failing prematurely and are not doing anything to prevent drivers from being trapped inside vehicles. The tow truck driver said he picked up four tesla cars on aug 9th for the same battery issue.i spoke to multiple other tesla owners and none were aware of the manual door release.this includes one of my neighbors who received his tesla a few months ago.it was not explained during the delivery process.the driver must rely on an electronic user's manual that can only be accessed when the car is operational.the faulty battery creates a condition that renders the car non-operational, so the contents of the user manual are irrelevant.furthermore, the unmarked door release is an insufficient safety feature.airplanes, buses, trains all have emergency exits marked.apparently tesla chose not to do this.tesla created an unsafe situation where people can be trapped.

My 2019 tesla model 3 purchased 5 months ago, suddenly gave a warning on the highway that the '12v power is very low and vehicle may shut down unexpectedly'the car had been charged with 250+ miles of range.once stopped the car wouldn't respond and even flashers wouldn't work.their support staff did not know how to fix this or even how to keep flashers on. Luckily i had exited the highway into a residential area where flashers weren't necessary.this is sudden and dangerous.a battery can be monitored and failure can be detected several charge cycles (days) in advance.tesla needs to do a recall to fix the charging system and install a proper monitoring system.

The vehicle was parked. But wouldn't move to gear (drive or reverse). It was giving the message"cannot maintain vehicle power".had i lost the power while driving, it would have been a clear safety issue.

The contact owns a 2018 tesla model 3. The contact stated that the vehicle was designed with electronic doors that released the latch when the door handle and/or a button located inside the vehicle's door was activated. The contact stated that the passenger side doors failed to release the latch when prompted. Tesla (52 derwood cir, rockville, md 20850, (301) 738-6523) diagnosed that the rear latched needed to be replaced. The rear passenger door was repaired, but the front door was not. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 98,825.

The contact owns a 2018 tesla model 3. The contact stated while using driving and with the full self-driving feature activated, the vehicle nearly crashed into other parked vehicles. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and the contact was awaiting a response. The failure mileage was approximately 21,389.

Driving on the 101 freeway in santa barbara. Road was wet after a light rain at around 6:30am. Was in the middle lane, very light traffic, on a wide curve. Was not speeding, accelerating, braking or steering. Was not using autopilot. Tires had 11,000 miles and tread was still good. Car all of a sudden spun out of control, turning 180 degrees and crashed against a concrete center divider. I have a video saved from the car's cameras of the entire accident. You can see a car preceding me in the same lane at a similar speed, was not affected. When driving the teslaon other raining days during the year i had the sensation that the car did not handle well on wet roads, slipping when accelerating. The insurance now owns the car so i don't have access to the black box but i know that tesla has the data from the crash which they are not sharing with me. The called me 10 minutes after the crash noting that i had crashed and asked me if i was ok. A short video of the crash is available here: https://youtu.be/gyqyxgeot94i have video from the other cameras too, as well as video footage before this segment.

1. We picked up the car on dec 30th, from the fremont factory, the car was not even fully charged, and there was a message on the console saying, that, 'it needs a software upgrade.' we went back inside and asked one of the sales people, he said, 'this is the end of the year, the cars are not coming fully charged, and he laughed aboutthe software upgrade.' we came home and upgraded the software. No-one went over the operations of the car. 2. On jan 1st, the 30 day trial for the autopilot feature popped up on the console, and we clicked yes. We decided to try the auto-trial feature in the evening from santa cruz to our home. We enabled the auto-pilot on route 880, it kept asking to keep your hands lightly on the steering wheel, while the hands were on the steering wheel at all times. After maybe 10 minutes, in the centre line, at a speed of 63 mph, red warning startedsaying, 'the car can no longer auto steer.' we canceled the autopilot, manually drove the car. On local street on mowry avenue, between 6:30 pm and 7 pm, while driving, the car in front of us slowed down, removed the foot from the accelerator, car continue to accelerate, while the brake pedal was pressed. No collision warning, and car kept going until it ran into the next car and stopped. We pulled over and assessed the damage, our car has small nick on the center of the bumper. 3. Arrived home, with about 80 miles charge left. After plugging in the charger, about 15 minutes later, message on the phone came that charging interrupted, as it has 78% of charge on the battery. Additionally, these are the some of the other concerns,-rattling noise on the right side during driving-while driving slowly at about 5 miles an hour, there is a brake noise-there is wind leak on both front windows and doors. -right rear seat belt does not always lock

I want to both report and complain about an incident that happened with me on december 14, 2019.i was traveling with my wife and two kids from vancouver, wa to my residence [xxx]. I was driving my tesla model 3 (bmx 2571) and the days before the car had a new update installed (that included improvements to wipers using some ai improvements). There was strong rain while driving on the i-5 freeway. The traffic speed was 70 mph. I was in the middle of a huge pack of cars all moving at the ~ 70 mph. What we encountered was-a) first wipers got locked (no movement et all), this reduced my visibility to almost zero and struggling to maneuver the car in the high speed traffic to avoid any accident.b) the car then went in some shutdown mode of display, both confusing me and leaving adrift as to how to handle the situation.it took both my wife and me some heroic effort to drive avoiding any accident until the car recovered (it was a period of ~30 sec which sounded like eternity for us) from this freeze, shutdown, and reboot. You can verify my claim as i did file a 'bug report' around that time.when talking of the anomalies, i have also seen that on freeways the autopilot has tried to put brakes all of a sudden in the past, thus creating life threatening situations. At all these occasions, i had filed 'bug reports' to help tesla. However, latest incident is beyond my wildest imagination and concerning with respect to the safety of life while traveling in a tesla car.best,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Unintended acceleration resulting in a crash with a tree. My car was total. The car was was statioanary waiting to put air in my tire.

Car interface bugged out and would not recognize with the phone key or key card to start after entering the parked vehicle. Touch screen flashed on and off. Attempted resets to no avail. System would randomly shut itself off and not turn back on.

Hello,i often follow tesla model 3 cars in dense traffic, and stop behind them at red lights. I have to say, their tail lights (more exactly, brake lights in the center of tail light) are extremely bright while being very small. They are almost as bright as lasers. When it's dark, looking at them even with peripheral vision is painful, i have to look to the side to avoid being blinded. I am sure looking at these lights is dangerous to my vision. Instead of these very small and very bright lights, tesla should have used bigger lights with smaller intensity (emitted power per square inch). I am attaching a stock picture of model 3's tail lights. Unfortunately, a camera could not capture the very high intensity of the light.

I was at the supercharging station in dublin ( california) . When i wanted to take reverse and park my car for supercharging.my car showed the option of autopark. Since there was an open spot available for parking my car (where my car fits properly - as per tesla guidelines) .i startedauto parking ,in autopark feature usually the car comes close to the other car and then takes necessary turn. But in my case the car came very close to the other car and instead of stopping it speeded up and dashed to the other car in the parking spot. My car has collision prevention plus it provides accurate distance if there is some object behind my car, but in this car neither of the systems alerted me and led to a crash.i raised a complaint to tesla about the auto park features problem but haven't received any any word from them. I have attached the images of the car.

There is a buildup of water and condensation in the rear tail lights of my vehicle. The issue is known by tesla as they replaced the same problem before, however, now they are not covering it under warranty even though it is a common problem among model 3 owners.

Problem: rear tail lights were not illuminated, even though the standardized headlight symbol/indicator was depicted on the vehicle instrument screen. This symbol is universally understood to indicate both headlights and tail lights.incident: while driving on a dark and unlit road, i encountered debris blocking the road. In order to pass through, i exited the vehicle without turning it off and left the driver's door unlatched to ensure the vehicle did not inadvertently power down. I expected that the headlights and tail lights would remain illuminted to, both, light the road ahead as well as illuminate the rear for safety and visibility. After moving the debris from the road, i was surprised to find the rear of the vehicle was completely dark and not visible from the rear. However, the interior instrument panel simultaneously depicted the standardized headlight symbol, with no warning that the rear lights were independently turned off.this is a safety hazard, as the driver/owner has no indication that the rear tail lights turn off. Aside from manually going into headlight settings in the vehicle configuration menu, there is no easily accessible way to keep all lighting active while the driver is not in the vehicle.

These vehicles are not equipped with front side amber reflex reflectors as required undr fmvss 205 requirements

Front fog lights and rear tail lights fogging and filling with condensation that could lead to electrical issues. Service center said this is 'normal'.

The contact owns a 2018 tesla model 3. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph with the cruise control activated, the braking system erroneously activated causing the vehicle to abruptly stop in the middle of the road. The contact indicated that during the failure there were no objects or vehicles nearby to cause the braking system to suddenly activate. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The local dealer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 5,000.

While driving on a highway tesla suddenly hard braked out of nowhere. My speed dropped from 70 to 30 in a couple of seconds. There was an 18 wheeler behind me and it could have been a deadly collision if i hadn't intervened. This is a known tesla but that someday would kill someone.

While driving major federal freeways (i65 & i85) between houston and n.c., the car while on autopilot and traveling at freeway speed (70 mph) would emergency brake when approaching some (6-7 times) overpasses apparently thinking the overpass was crossing traffic or a forward obstruction.this also occurred (3-4 times) when it was simply a rise in the freeway ahead. The braking only lasted for maximum 1-2 seconds, but since the vehicles behind me would not be expecting me to brake, i consider this a serious safety issue.

Vehicle will emergency brake on highway without warning and no other cars around. Also unable to access charging port to charge vehicle.

I bought the standard autopilotfor 2 model 3si find it highly useful. It keeps me in the middle of my lane. Warns me with loud signal and bright red car marking of cars in my blind spot if it is dangerous to change lanes. Allows me to see clearly all cars around me. It will not allow me to drive without my hands putting active pressure on the steering wheel. I feel that it makes driving much much safer. Driver still needs to pay attention with active pressure on steering wheel.i drive 30,000 miles per year. I paid $3000 extra to buy the autopilot after not having it for the first 6 months. It was well worth the cost.should be a standard feature on all new cars!!! my wife who drives my other model 3 has had the same experience.

I was in bumper to bumper traffic on the freeway about to change lanes. I was on totally manual operation. The car suddenly accelerated and hit a car and continued with my foot on the brake to hit another car. There was no collision damage warning or avoidance automatically stopping the car.

This is a complaint about a burned out tesla model 3.i have used the vin of a random wrecked tesla because the vin of the car in question is unrecognisable due to fire.here is the toasted tesla https://www.iaai.com/vehicledetails/35451122/25it has been burned to a crisp but the front wheel has been wrenched off due to the usual broken suspension arms and popped ball joints.the wheel must have fallen by the wayside because it is not burned in the slightest and has been stashed inside the body of the car post-inferno.isn't the job of nhtsa supposed to be protecting the public?what is wrong with you guys?for the love of fudge please do something.regardsyour friend keef

The vehicle was parked. But wouldn't move to gear (drive or reverse). It was giving the message"cannot maintain vehicle power".had i lost the power while driving, it would have been a clear safety issue.

On 04/13/2019 the car abrupt stopped in the middle of the road while i drove it along northbond santa rita road in pleasanton ca.. Cars coming from behind had to make urgent braking or lane change to avoid hitting us. My young child was crying in horror, and we have no way to get ourself to safety with the car totally unable to move. We called 911, and local police was dispatch to help other card avoiding hitting us, while we waiting for tow truck to arrive. The car was unresponsive for about 20 minutes, with the display showing messages: "unable to drive, pull over to safety. Car shutting down". The car resumed operational after about 20 minutes, without any noticeable change. I drove the car to nearest service center (pleasanton ca). After a few days, i was contact by the service center stating the car can be picked up, while nothing was done to fix the issue. Their official invoice states: "this is currently scheduled to be fixed in 2019.20, but the customer can continue driving. If it happens again (seems unlikely), they can just get out of the car and get back in to resume operation.". I pointed to tesla service representative that their recommended solution is unacceptable - just like what happened to us already - it would be illegal and unsafe to exit the vehicle if it stops in the middle of highway, with no chance to pull over even to the curb. The tesla representative brought an engineer to help "explain" the information, when he mentioned that this issue is a known characteristic related to use of cruise control. And the engineer said he would personally be ok to drive the car without using cruise control. I asked if that means the cruise control is not safe, they said it would be my own judgment. I think this is a significant safety hazard tesla is intentionally ignoring and need thorough investigation.

Vehicle has a "brake hold" feature. This feature is engaged when the vehicle is in gear, stopped, and then the brake pedal is depressed an additional distance. This feature keeps that vehicle at a standstill without a need to continue to depress the brake pedal. Per the instruction manual, brake hold can be released by pressing the accelerator, brake, or by shifting the vehicle into "neutral".the right steering column stalk, however, can be used to switch the vehicle from brake hold into the opposite travel direction (d to r or r to d) by moving the stalk to that setting. For example, a vehicle in d with the brake hold engaged, can be shifted into r by moving the right stalk fully upward (to the "r" setting). This behavior, i believe, should be prohibited unless the vehicle is first placed into "p" or "n".

While i was parking, the car it unexpectedly accelerated and jump over the side walk and crash itself into the building and destroyed the face of the building and the car. The air bags deployed from the impact of the car.

Thanks.

Driving on rural dirt road. Dust coming in from rear seat bottom, trunk, seat belt holes. So much dust it is unbearable, can't breathe and hard to keep eyes open while driving.

I hadn't used the middle seat belt for a couple years.when i had a visitor i tried to use the middlebelt, and it pulled right out if the seat.upon further inspection i found that the back seat (drivers side) latch was also not connected to the vehicle and was only being held in place by the seat cushion.this was only apparent if you lifted up the rear seat cushion.my 5 year old daughter had been riding in this seat for tens of thousands of miles, and had we been in an accident she would have had no protection.i cannot be sure if the belt was never installed at the factory, or was removed during service and not reinstalled by a negligent technician, but a quick google search showed that i wasn't the only person with this issue.consumer stated vehicle has been repaired.

Right before the car hit the 50,000 miles full warranty, i called tesla and reported 2 safety issues. The first was the horn not working and the second was a seat belt safety warning. Tesla moved the appointment and when i got their, i have exceeded the 50,000 miles. The technician at tesla's facility understood that i called before the 50,000 and that it is tesla's fault i did not get the service on time. They were able to fix the low pitch part of the horn but did not have parts for the seat belt and the high pitch part of the horn. They promised to send a technician home. When the technician came home, he had the wrong part for the horn and did not have the part of the seat belt. He was able to diagnose that it is the back middle passenger buckle causing the error (which the facility did not do). He promised to come back with the right parts. I got a call from tesla for the other appointment time, but the technician never showed up and my calls to tesla was not answered.i am not worried much about the high pitch horn although it need to be fixed. I am worried more about a seat belt buckle error.i am also not happy with the level of service from tesla especially for safety issues not being taken seriously

Seat headrest bubbling and having oozing stuff. Looks like many other people have the same issue. Yesterday i went and they said they have never seen it before and then i find in many online forums people are complaining about this. And for some people they gave a free replacement. Charged me $330 for this. Even the replacements are starting to show same issuehttps://www.reddit.com/r/teslamodel3/comments/cy0zwu/tesla_model_3_headrest_bubbling_big_time/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

Over 5000 miles of driving, there is a significant amount of vibration and buffeting in car at any speed over 45mph. Tesla service has had eight opportunities to resolve this, to no avail. The tires have been replaced to eliminate this as a possibility, and the wheels checked for runout - all measure very good. Suspension components or control arms are the likely culprits. In addition to the suspension components failing after less than 5000 miles, the drivers seats on most all model 3 are loose and rock back and forth, with tesla saying it is 'within specifications'. This could be another serious safety concern in the event of a crash, as it is unclear why the seat disturbing becomes loose with normal use. After discussing with other model 3 owners with identical issues, it is clear that this is a inherent vehicle / parts problem, and tesla is doing the least possible to address these concerns.

Car was on driveway going5mph. Applied brake brake pedal was locked in position car continued going 5mph.went through garage door. Continued at 5mph hit wall. Put hole in wall car stopped. We weren't injured. Car never slowed or speeded up. Reported to tesla the next day.they said the car has a data recorder. I asked for the data. After numerous requests 7 weeks later they have failed to contact us

In order to cancel cruise control or autopilot in a tesla model 3, the primary mechanism is to push the right stalk upwards as far as it will go. However, pushing the same stalk upwards only part of the way will cause the car to shift into neutral. This can cause a driver to put the car into neutral while it is underway. This is especially dangerous in a tesla because if the car is in neutral regenerative breaking is disabled and it is the common driving habit to use regenerative breaking as the primary braking mechanism.essentially, a driver can accidentally make the car unable to accelerate and unable to use primary braking when in motion.in addition, there is no audible alert that the car has been shifted to neutral and only a very small visible change to the touchscreen.i alerted tesla to this issue in august of 2018 and there has been no change to the car's behavior since then, despite numerous over the air software updates.

While driving on a highway tesla suddenly hard braked out of nowhere. My speed dropped from 70 to 30 in a couple of seconds. There was an 18 wheeler behind me and it could have been a deadly collision if i hadn't intervened. This is a known tesla but that someday would kill someone.

On 11/28/19 at around 5:30-6:00am, while driving on the 5 south freeway near the atlantic ave off ramp, the car swerved to the right on its own.i could not control the car'it had a mind of its own. The brakes and steering wheel did not respond to me. I don't know what happened. I don't know if the side camera thought the suv was veering into my lane because the rain distorted its view or what but it was very scary. It was as if the car was driving itself even though autopilot was not on. I could not right the car after the initial swerve, it kept on going, heading towards the exit but ended up going over an embankment, heading straight for a tree before turning and sideswiping it and coming to a stop. Thank goodness no one was hurt.it was still dark and it was raining but not pouring.the freeway was empty. I was in the 3rd lane and there was a black suv right next to me in the lane #2. I did not see it veer into me; we were both going about 70mph in our own lanes. I had both hands on the wheel, no music was playing and autopilot was not on'though navigation on autopilot was activated.i contacted tesla right away and they texted that the incident team and engineering team were looking into it, downloading the data (i did not have a usb so i don't have any recording of anything). So far, i have not heard back from these tesla teams and my car still has collision damage as the tesla rep i spoke with advised me to wait on the findings and not to contact my insurance company in case they find tesla's at fault. Tesla service center did check out my car on 12/2/19 and released it to me, deeming that it was safe to drive. I have not driven the car in the rain while it's dark since. I've just recently realized that your department investigates these types of incidents and thought i should reach out.

Car was totaled after uncontrollable acceleration. Air bags were deployed

Unintended acceleration resulting in a crash with a tree. My car was total. The car was was statioanary waiting to put air in my tire.

My tesla model 3 has a defect with autopilot sensors and sound.when on autopilot (adaptive cruise control), the sensors can sometimes freeze up and or fail, causing autopilot to cease functioning and issue an audio alert. However, system sound (blinkers, notification alert system) sometimes fails, thus preventing the autopilot from alerting the driver that it will no longer be breaking and or steering.for example, i am driving using the autopilot cruise control, which is supposed to steer /brake/accelerate for me and instructed to keep eyes on the road, however, when the autopilot stops working as well as the audio notification, the driver will not know that it has failed and the car no longer brakes, thus making it likely to have a collision.i have recorded the flaws and defects and have it on video. This can happen anywhere, on highway or on a regular road. Tesla has been unable to fix the problem.

Unintended acceleration of 2018 tesla model 3.issue description: issue occurred on 05/04/18 at approx. 11:52 am while trying to park the vehicle in a parking lot of a grocery store. The vehicle was in the parking space position when it suddenly accelerated without any input from the driver. The brakes were applied however they felt inoperative. It felt as though the driver had no control over braking and the vehicle had a mind of its own. The driver turned the steering wheel to avoid directly hitting a dumpster while trying to brake. The passenger side of the vehicle then hit a curb and a pony wall. After the impact, the driver was able to turn the vehicle while applying the brakes that eventually brought the vehicle to a stop.probable cause: unknown. Given the vehicle is new, it is difficult to identify a reason why would it accelerate unintentionally. The vehicle is equipped with enhanced auto pilot which was not engaged at the time of incident. The night prior to the incident the vehicle displayed software glitch where in it would not control the volume of the radio while driving with the buttons on the steering wheel and was stuck in controlling the steering wheel position.car is running software version 8.1 (2018.14.13 9e3b7ff)

Tesla's ceo, mr. Elon musk, has made so many fraudulent statements in the past 10 years. Yet, no government agency including the sec, has done anything about these deliberate, fraudulent and obvious statements. Please consider the following fact:consumer report today announced that it is now recommending model 3 of tsla because the braking problem has been solved. According to an article that i read today, a senior engineer who has been working on this and similar issues for the past 28 years, indicated that the retest that consumer report conducted was on dry asphalt. According to him, now that the caliber has changed, it is very likely that the braking distance on wet and snowy asphalt has been impacted negatively. According to him, this is a fundamental issue which endangers public safety. Let's get tesla, consumer report and an independent third party to test the braking distance on wet and also snowy asphalt, and see if those distances have been affected negatively. Again, according to an expert with 28 years of experience, it is very likely that the new calibration has affected the braking distance negatively on wet and snowy asphalt. Also according to this expert, tesla keeps rushing and doesn't conduct enough safety tests that is standard in the industry. Tesla and consumer report have fiduciary responsibilities to the world to conduct these tests as well. It's a matter of public safety. The car manufacturing industry has been around for over 100 years. Also, according to this expert, this is the first time that a car manufacturer has been able to reduce the braking distance of its car on dry asphalt over the air by using a software recalibration. The expert is warning that we are definitely in unchartered territory, and these tests absolutely must be conducted to ensure public safety for the world. Let's protect the world and the human beings. Thanks.

While driving on local road, traffic stopped ahead.i pressed the brakes, but it did not respond.the collision warning and emergency auto-stopping system also did not engage, causing the vehicle to collide with the car in front.two days before the collision, the tesla received a firmware update.i noticed the driving behavior was slightly different.brake failure like this never happened before this firmware update.the firmware version with this issue is 2019.5.4. 4c3c414

This is a complaint about a new development in the tesla autopilot experiment.electrek which is a very influential tesla publicity publication has just released a highly irresponsible article and video.https://electrek.co/2019/09/19/tesla-autopilot-v10-commute-without-driver-intervention/this even shows the tesla fitted with a "nag defeater" on the steering wheel.this is going to cause owners to have even more misplaced confidence in the autopilot and will most certainly cause more deaths.please stop this dangerous experiment which is recklessly endangering innocent road users.please note that i have used the vin of a wrecked tesla model 3 so as to be able to file this complaint.i am not a tesla owner but i have to share the public roads with these lethal vehicles.thank you.note - dummy usa address used to negotiate your website.correct name and address supplied with this complaint.

Model 3 in junkyard. Not in a crash. No air-bags gone off.front suspension arm snapped off.steering tie-rod snapped off.tesla seems to be procuring its steering and suspension components from a pretzel factory.please investigate.concerned citizen etc.thank you.have a fantastic day.

Here is a video that has just been uploaded to youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4guhsmipiq4this owner thinks it is perfectly safe to jam some fruit in the steering wheel to eliminate the "hold steering wheel" nags.he does not seem to be a complete idiot. The problem is that he has been mislead by the hype spread by tesla and ceo elon musk.despite several fatal crashes musk is still spreading the message that nhtsa foundautopilot is 40% safer than a human driver. Nhtsa has now revealed that the claim was based on tesla's own (unverified) data.more people will die unless this uncontrolled and highly dangerous experiment is halted immediately.please do something.thank you.deeply concerned citizen.

During low speed, bolts became loose and completely dropped out of lower control arm causing one wheel to veer to the right.very concerning that critical steering components do not have a castle nut and cotter pin, if this would have been high-speed there could have been loss of life.tesla is failing to address concerns of safety, there are numerous other reports of these bolts coming loose.*dt consumer concerned about the noise and vibration while driving and brought the car in for inspection on 9/1/20 to a tesla dealer. Dealer stated rim was bent which caused the vibration and the bolts became loose after an impact with a speed bump.consumer having a hard time understanding how low speed impact could cause a grade 8 bolt to become loose.

This is a complaint about suspension failures in teslas.there has been a crash in italy which is almost certainly caused by a broken suspension.the vin of a junkyard tesla has been used to complete this online submission since the vin of the car is unknown.the crash injured 2 people.https://ladige.it/territori/riva-arco/2021/04/11/riva-la-lussuosa-tesla-si-schianta-in-galleria-feriti-un-ragazzo-di-pinzolo-e-una-ragazza-di-torbole-1.2884987#2the crash scene photographs show a tesla with 3 wheels. The back wheel has fallen off.skid marks on the road show only 3 tire marks.these skid marks could not have been caused by the driver intentionally swerving and brakingplease include this crash in your investigation into tesla suspension failures.thank you.

The car was pulling very hard to the left. Took it to tesla service center. They gave me an estimate of nearly $6000 to replace control arms and bushings and steering rack etc. They said the parts were damaged from "outside influence". Whatever that means. The car is 18 months old and has 29,000 miles. No accidents or damage ever. This is a major manufacturing defect that could have had disastrous outcomes if i did not pick up on the symptoms first. This is in absolutely no way related to any "outside influence". This is a defect plain and simple, and a major public safety issue, to say the least. Tesla refused to cover the repairs under warranty, and i am trying to work though the california arbitration process now. I will have to rent a vehicle for weeks out of pocket while this process is pending.

On 2 occasions, when i was driving in enhanced auto-pilot and engaged auto lane change, the car started changing lanes, then abruptly swerved back into my original lane. On the first occasion, it is possible i did not push the lane change indicator down far enough. On the second occasion, this was not the case. The indicator was pushed down all the way, i looked behind me and coast was clear. It's not at all apparent why the car aborted the lane change. It was raining. I was driving the speed limit, 55 mph on a 4-5 lane highway and i was in a middle lane, changing tinto another middle lane. In the first incident, i was driving on the same highway, no rain.

While traveling on enhanced autopilot and changing lanes using the direction stalk, i have noted that the vehicle has occasionally swerved back into the original lane before completing the lane change. This happened to me three times during my drive from palm springs to san diego on november 12. It happened twice on changing to the left lane and once while changing to the right. On none of these occasions was a vehicle in the next lane or accelerating in that lane towards the vehicle. Needless to say, it was a bit alarming. Other owners have reported this as well as noted in https://forums.tesla.com/forum/forums/autopilot-random-lane-changes-and-swerves.

Sorry to trouble you again ...but..here is a model 3 in the junkyard.https://www.iaai.com/vehicledetails/37236422?rownumber=9the suspension fell off and it's lying on the ground.have a look please.this is not good.not good at all.thank you.keef

I was driving northbound on ca hwy 101 when i initiated a lane change from left to rightwith autopilot engaged. After beginning to make the lane change to the right, the car abruptly veered back into the left lane, then slowly started to move back into the right lane. It was at that time that i disengaged the autopilot.

The bottom front under piece composite material which is part of the under carriage spontaneously broke while driving on the freeway in the rain. There are numerous reports in the internet of the composite under pieces breaking from water or missing/loose bolts.

Aeb system does not function at low speeds reliably. Car was traveling at 12mph and car was stopped in front of my car.car made no alerts or no attempt to stop the vehicle from a rear end collision which ultimately resulted in damage to my front end.i never know when the system will or wont work and have no confidence in it.

The contact owns a 2018 tesla model 3. While driving 25 mph in the rain, the contact heard an abnormal noise. The contact pulled over and noticed that the rear bumper and rear wheel hubcap on the passenger side had fallen off. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that the failure was due to an act of god and they would charge for towing the vehicle to a certified collision center. The contact called her insurance company and the vehicle had been at the certified collision center for over a week. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer reiterated that an outside influence caused the parts to fall off and they would not pay for the repairs. The contact wanted the manufacturer to cover the costs with the initial warranty since the vehicle was just purchased in july of 2018. The contact suspected that the parts being used were of inferior quality. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown. *as

On may 28, 2021 i took my tesla model 3 in to have the undercarriage replaced after it came into contact with water and started to separate from the car.tesla replaced both the front and rear aero shield panels under warranty.i was told this should not happen again as this part is an upgraded version from the original part. Seven days later, the same issue occurred where the part began to separate from the vehicle.this is a potential safety hazard for other drivers if it is not observed to be separating, it can fall off completely and become a flying object or road debris causing an accident for others.

On january 10, 2020 approximately 09:30 am, when in a parking garage i stopped the car and went to put it into reverse to back into a stall when the car accelerated forward impacting a pillar when i looked down the car was in neutral and the hazard lights were on. I contacted my insurance and it was deemed 'at fault' repairs to be determined

Vehicle undercarriage panel aero shield falls off in heavy rain

This car has a front trunk, aka "frunk". It is opened electronically, not mechanically. There is no owner accessible mechanical override. It failed to open on october 31 while parked in a garage, 2018. It was brought to tesla service the next day, and the "m3 frunk latch actuator primary release (1098789-00-c)" was replaced. The frunk operated normally thereafter until january 26, 2019, when it again failed to open while parked in a public parking lot. It will be 3 weeks before it can be repaired again, due to tesla service backlog.

Vehicle was in motion, driving at a slower speed driving on a city road through a minimal amount of standing water when the the bumper cover forcibly ripped off after tearing brackets and the undercarriage and wheel-well panels.

Parking car with foot on brake, when the car lunged foreword into parked cars, damaging my car and two other cars parked in front of me.

My tesla model 3 was so new that didn't even have the license plate yet.i've done self-park quite a few times, and even went to the sales center to confirm the way to engage self park.when the vehicle sense the space and you go reverse, the blue start button will be on so you can press and let the auto self park.sadly, the self park caused the accident on 11/30/18 when i was on lyon street in san francisco.when pressed on the reverse 'start' button, the car went uncontrollably (like a demon was in the car) and hit the rear parked car.i could barely hit the brake in time to stop the zoomed reverse.this accident not only damaged my new model 3 and it hit the bumper and headlight of another parked vehicle, the incident truly traumatized me on the tesla car functions.thankfully, there was not any upcoming rear traffic, with the self reverse speed, the accident could be a lot worse.tesla insisted that it is not an auto-pilot or self-park issue.they said we have to wait 4 weeks for the engineering review and report.after waiting for the tesla report for 4 weeks, they claimed the vehicle was 'not' engaged in the 'self-park' function - well, why would the blue start button is available for me to believe that the self park was ready?????they made the excuse the creep function was activated.that is ridiculous!your blue start button was available for self-park, driver would assume the vehicle is ready to be parked.who would guess the vehicle would zoom back uncontrollably? could you imagine how dangerous this is for all the self park drivers and passengers?the accident could be much worse.nhtsa must issue investigation and fining for such tesla self park issue!

I was in bumper to bumper traffic on the freeway about to change lanes. I was on totally manual operation. The car suddenly accelerated and hit a car and continued with my foot on the brake to hit another car. There was no collision damage warning or avoidance automatically stopping the car.

The car accelerated suddenly on autopilot causing the car skid and fall into a ditch oat 80 mph in utah. The damage was to the body but the accident could have been worse as it almost went into the other lane

Fiber panel extending from rear bumper under vehicle forward to thebattery pack deforms after becoming wet and rips apart. This panel can come out from under the car while driving at high speed and cause driver behind to swerve to avoid the large panel and have an accident. Water accumulates in panel from rain and puddles and lowers it into the wind stream and then it becomes ripped and can be torn loose.

Driving on highway 10 lake city to jacksonville fl, suddenly heavy rain caused car to skid driving in autopilot mode at 70mph , the road changed from asphalt to concrete and car could not handle that change , car went into hydroplan/skid mode with 15 snake lapses before i could bring it to rest on shoulder , we were lucky to have survived as a semi truck was just 20 seconds behind us. The car even after halting accerelated on its own causing another small burst of skidding..to add to the woes - the auomated wipers on this car are too slow , sudden rainpour on windshield cause lack of visibility and to turn the wipers to full mode , it takes 3-4 swipes on cars computer , which during crucial moments is a very bad design and can cause unitended accidents

Driving at 65 mph on interstate 80, in california near berkeley, in the rain the under carriage body cover which appears to be made of some type of composite material ripped/tore. Nothing was hit on the road and there have been multiple owners that have also had issues with this part of the car ripping/tearing/breaking due to unknown reasons. There are speculations that it is water related but it should not be breaking in the rain or with water. As well because the part is on the bottom it should not be that fragile that it can tear/rip/break easily! i have attached an image below of the underside when i was able to get back to my home. This part is inadequately protecting the bottom of the car and should be recalled and changed.

I was involved in a car crash with the autopilot activated. The autopilot has a flaw where it cannot detect when a large vehicle like an 18 wheeler or cement truck in merging into the lane. It sees a large gap and while the front part of the vehicle is slowly snaking into the lane it starts to accelerate. I hit the side of a cement truck and had 8k in damages. I reached out to tesla without any response.

The rear trunk lid popped open by itself while driving. I was the only person in the vehicle, and i did not pop the trunk lid. It should be noted that the trunk lid can not be opened by the occupants while the vehicle is in motion. The selection on the screen is not available, the trunk 'button' is not accessible on the screen while in motion. There is no mechanical release. When the trunk opened, it caused the cruise control to become unavailable.

I turned into my driveway and was going to pull into my garage to park the car, when the car accelerated suddenly and violently and crashed into the front stonewall of our house. The stone wall is damaged and the front right side of the tesla has significant damages.

Safety issue with rear doors. Rear passengers and specially children who are unable to exit through the front of the vehicle can become trapped in the event of a fire or major collision that disables the electrical power to the doors. Front doors are equipped with emergency release latch however, rear doors have no such safety backup in a life and death situation.

Front windshield has propagating crack starting on upper right side of window extending down and to the drivers side. Finding that it is common with the tesla vehicles on the internet search. Feel defectin or glass is too thin and can't take the flexing of the frame of the car. Crack started while driving without any outside assault.

Passenger doors opened electrically.i believe manual backup opening exists only with front door.will rear seat passengers be able to evacuate arithmetic fire, or in water, or will they be trapped?has not happened, but might it happen?

The contact owns a 2018 tesla model 3. The contact stated that two of the four roof rack clips fractured. Upon further inspection of the vehicle, the contact noticed that the failure could have caused the roof rack to fracture, which could have impacted other drivers on the roadway. The tesla service center (located at 5700 s broadway, littleton, co 80121, (303) 632-4200) was notified of the failure and referenced a repair instructional from tesla regarding an update improvement for the model 3 roof rack. It was not specified if this was the same oem part or a newly designed oem roof rack clip set. The contact ordered the part and the clips were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was waiting on a response. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was not available.

This is a complaint about the weakness of the suspension ball joints in all models of tesla cars.i have taken this car as just one egregiousexample and i can show you many more that have failed in the same way.i will follow this up by filing a separate complaint on a model x which has the exact same failure.here is the model 3https://www.copart.com/lot/42908029/photosno airbags have been deployed in this car. There is no collision damage that would justify the ball joints having snapped in this way.this car is still available for inspection.please do this.thank you...concerned citizen.

Here is another tesla model 3 with front suspension that has fallen apart.https://poctra.com/2018-tesla-model-3/id-bj9kvynfmygislwp/waldorf-md/photosit does not take a rocket surgeon to see that there is a repeating pattern of failures.all the ball joints have snapped.please investigate.thank youkeef

Here is another lovely tesla model 3 in the junkyard.https://www.copart.com/lot/56272480/photos/2018-tesla-model-3-ca-haywardthe front wheel suspension and associated giblets have fallen to bits.it is completely discombobulated.no air-bags deployed, no sign of a collision.just the usual tesla whompy wheel feature.might be a good idea for you to actually do something about these shoddily built death-traps.regardskeef the unhinged.

Another good example of a model 3 with the front wheel and suspension fallen off for no good reason.no air-bags deployed. No other damage to car, wheel and tire undamaged.it simply fell to bits.all the ball joints and steering arm snapped.not good.please look at the photo.this is insane/ludicrous.thanks.have a great christmas.keef

I am having issues twice in 2 years my upper control arm is making very bad noise while driving then get it replaced then from right side failed again and keep making noise while driving then i got this replaced. I never had this type of issues before in last 30 years for new cars. Once it happened at 15,000 miles then again around 35,000 miles. Now may be soon again.thanksanil

The control arms and links for the car keeps failing. I have taken it into tesla on 3 times now to have these repairs made and the car is only 2 years old with 40k miles.

Please note that i have used a substitute vin to file this report since the vin of the car i am complaining about is unavailable.here is the model 3 in the junkyard.https://www.copart.com/lot/34936400/photosthis car is in detroit and could easily be inspected by nhtsa staff.the photographs show that the cast monkey metal lower suspension arm has snapped. The bright surface of the snapped part shows that it is a clean break caused by bad casting.also the monkey-metal steering knuckle has snapped completely in half and this has been stashed on the back seat. This is convenient for nhtsa staff to inspect because they will not need to get their hands dirty.close up photographs of the affected parts are attached to this submission.a few owners are now starting to file complaints about broken suspensions.if you open an investigation into suspension failures it will give even more owners the opportunity to report their problems.thank you.keef date of crash, mileage etc. Are estimates

Here is a model 3 in the junkyardhttps://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=28782924&rownumber=52&loadrecent=truethe lower ball-joints on the front suspension have snapped.this is very likely the cause of the rollover and not the result of it.a photograph is attached of another model 3 (the red one) which has the same snapped off ball-joints.these ball joints appear to be the same ridiculously weak two part friction welded ball joints that are used on the model s and model x.photograph of a snapped ball joint is also inculded in this submission.thank you.drive safely and watch out for teslas.

While in motion, the vehicle creaks and squeaks from the suspension area. Control arms go bad prematurely and could cause a crash and or damage to the vehicle.

Control arm, upper rh damaged or broken.loud squealing noise when driving at lower speeds 0-30 mph. Has gotten increasingly worse the past day or so.tesla technician set an appointment to replace and said it was a known defective part from the manufacturing process.i am seriously concerned about the lh control arm part and if that needs to be inspected and potentially replaced.

There is squeaking sound coming from front wheel passenger side and it becomes louder and louder when cruising at low speeds on city street

Another model 3 just arrived in the junkyard.https://www.copart.com/lot/42720419/photosnot in a major collision, no airbags deployed.front suspension has snapped like a pretzel.all the ball joint stems have snapped off.it is probable that all of the bodywork damage is self inflicted as a result of the suspension failure.please contact the owner and ask him why his wheel fell off.i am continuing to file these complaints in the hope that you will see that these suspension parts are dangerously fragile and unfit for a golf cart let alone a high performance road vehicle.please do your job.thank you.concerned citizen etc.

Front driver suspension experienced damage from a low speed turn into a parking lot. The car had a continuous squeak from the front right side while driving after the event. I called tesla service and they came on site to do a diagnostic. They found a major issue with the front driver suspension and found that it needed to be replaced. The diagnostic and repair were free.

Here is a model 3 in the junk yard.https://www.iaai.com/vehicledetails?itemid=34558147&rownumber=13&similarvehicleitemid=&isnext=&loadrecent=trueit has been in a rollover accident so it has extensive damage.the front lh suspension has fallen to bits.the wheel has been sliced in two which suggests that it waswas cut by a sharp object whilst still rotating.it does appear to be a strong possibility that this rollover was caused by the suspension failure.the connection to the steering arm has snapped which is cause for concern.the stems of both ball joints have snapped.several of the alloy components have cracked in half which suggests that the castings are of poor quality.given that many owners fell that it is ok to drive hands free or with just a finger resting on the wheel a failure in the suspension can have fatal consequences.please investigate.thank you.keef

Here is another tesla in the junkyard.https://www.iaai.com/vehicledetails/38425126?rownumber=2it has not been in a collision.the only damage is to the front drivers side wheel well.the tread on the tire is completely worn away because the suspension giblets snapped whilst the carwas in motion and the wheel then moved back and rubbed against the bodywork.driver got lucky this time.he could easily have been killed or injured.would you please get these tent built deathtraps off the roads right now.thank you.keef

Bolt that held holds the control and subframe came loosened over time. Tesla is saying it is my fault but there are multiple people with the same issue on the internet. Here is a tesla model 3 in the junkyard.https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=29158128&rownumber=50&loadrecent=trueit has not been in a collision. No airbags have deployed and there is no sign of impact damage to the vehicle.the front right hand suspension has completely snapped off and the undamaged wheel is lying beside the car.since the wheel is undamaged this failure cannot have been caused by running into a pothole or even a herd of wilderbeest sweeping majestically acrossthe freeway.the bolts have snapped. It seems likely that tesla is using the same fragile 2 piece bolts that have been snapping on the model s and model x.a photograph of the broken model 3 and a photograph of a snapped bolt from a model s is attached with this complaint.please note that i am not the owner, i am a concerned citizen acting in the public interest.date of incident and speed of vehicle are approximations.i have used a dummy usa address because your website will only accept a us address.i have been informed that it is perfectly legitimate for a non owner and non us citizen to file complaints.my correct name and contact details are supplied with this submission.

Here is a tesla model 3 in the junkyard.https://www.copart.com/lot/54348349/photosthe front wheel and complete suspension has completely fallen off.no airbags deployed so there has not been a front end collision.another car has biffed the back of the tesla after it slowed down rapidly when the wheel fell off.tesla enthusiasts claim that the wheels are designed to snap off easily and this is a safety feature.other road users may be less than impressed by this feature when the tesla wheel flies off and smashes their head in.these teslas are indeed....ludicrous.please investigate.

Another model 3 with a busted suspension that was not caused by crash damage.https://poctra.com/2018-tesla-model-3/id-axdy8oz8lq7lefql/houston-tx/photosall you have to do is go to the poctra website which has archived photos and details of more than 4000 wrecked teslas.a huge number of those cars have broken suspensions that can not be excused as being the result of a crash.just to restate the bleeding obvious one more time.tesla suspensions are too weak for the power and weight of the cars.quality control is non-existent.the toxic culture at tesla which has employees living in fear of elon musk means that these systemic failures are swept under the carpet.tesla is still using non disclosure agreement to silence customers.the supposedly upgraded suspension parts which are the subject of a technical service bulletin are not being fitted to cars except after they fail.if i can so easily discover examples of these suspension breakages by visiting https://poctra.com/then surely you can have some of your staff do the same thing.thank youkeef

I was in bumper to bumper traffic on the freeway about to change lanes. I was on totally manual operation. The car suddenly accelerated and hit a car and continued with my foot on the brake to hit another car. There was no collision damage warning or avoidance automatically stopping the car.

Here is a tesla model 3 in the junkyardhttps://www.copart.com/lot/47780498it has not been any major collision.the suspension on the rh side is broken.the top wishbone which is made out of (can you believe this?) plastic.has snapped off.this not good.please be so kind as to investigate.thank you.concerned citizenetc.tc.

This model 3 is in the salvage auction site.https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=32947552&rownumber=22&loadrecent=trueit has not been in a crash. No airbags have been deployed and there is negligible front end damage.the suspension has snapped off.the attached photographs show that the alloy suspension arms have cracked in half. This has the appearance of brittle crack failure caused by a casting defect.it is a certainty that this is not a one off incidence. This points to bad manufacturing, bad quality control, and bad testing.this is on top of the repeated failures in model s & model x suspension parts.tesla appears to be a sick company with zero regard for public safety.please take action to prevent needless deaths and injury.

Here is another model 3 in the junkyard with the same old snapped sparrow leg suspension.https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=29342528&rownumber=85&loadrecent=trueall of the air-bags have gone off but there is no significant damage except for the snapped suspension.it is quite likely that after the wheel went whompy the car spun around and decelerated rapidly setting off the airbags.there are now four reported instances of model 3 snapped suspensions and yet not a single owner has filed a complaint.i wonder why....perhaps tesla has them sign an nda?please investigate.please please investigate.thank you.perplexed citizen.

The contact owns a 2018 tesla model 3. The contact stated that while driving and turning the vehicle, that there was an abnormal sound coming from the front passenger wheel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the ball joint needed to be repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 26,000.

Here is a tesla model 3 in the salvage auction yard.https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=32965341&rownumber=21&loadrecent=trueit has some collision damage at the rear, perhaps because it stopped unexpectedly when the front suspension fell to bits.the photographs show that the upper ball joint has popped apart and that the stems of both lower ball joints have snapped.tesla is using dangerous low quality components in these cars.the photographs of this wreck prove this.please have this wreck inspected.if you wish to see many more examples of model 3 suspension parts that have snapped like a pretzel then there is a collection of them here https://www.flickr.com/photos/136377865@n05/albums/72157701887554265please note..i am not a tesla owner, just a concerned citizen.date of incident is an approximation.

Approximately two months before the incident, i started having occasional clicks/clunks/creaking noises when turning the steering wheel at low speeds. By the time i got an appointment and took it to a tesla service center (nov 4, 2020), they couldn't reproduce and didn't care to check the suspension beyond a test drive.the noise gets worse, and i schedule another appointment for dec 16, 2020. During this time, the noise gets even worse, and the car suffers from occasional suspension vibration & shaking. Additionally, the symptoms start to manifest at higher and higher speeds. On dec 13, 2020, the entire front suspension started to shake at around 35 mph which continued for ~10 seconds until i slowed down. This was just as i left home. I pull over and see the bolts attaching the lower control arm to the subframe on the front passenger side completely loose. Photos attached.if the front suspension had detached where there was more traffic and/or at higher speeds, i could have been in a terrible accident.

Here is a tesla model 3 in the junkyard.https://www.copart.com/lot/60239049/photosit has some front end damage but what is remarkable is that the alloy steering knuckle has cracked in half and the stems of both ball joints have snapped off.the wheel and tire are both undamaged.it is very unlikely that so much force can have been transmitted through the relativelyfragile alloy wheel as to cause all that damage to the suspension components.the model 3 shares similar suspension components to those used in the model s and x.so many examples of suspension failures indicate a systemic problem.please investigate these highly dangerous issues.thank you keef

Ball joint failure leading to need to replace upper control arm on drivers side. 2nd instance in less than a year. 2018 model 3 with less than 40,000 miles.

Here is a tesla model 3 in the salvage yard.https://www.copart.com/lot/59959469/photosit is listed as having suspension damage.no air-bags have been deployed and damage to the bodywork is only slight.the headlights have not even been broken.the wheel is seriously whompy.whilst the photographic evidence is not 100% proof it does appear that this failure is consistent with the the other reports of the alloy suspension parts snapping far too easily.the fact that the wheel and tire are undamaged and there being only minor damage to the bodywork make it far more likely that this is another case of self-inflicted injury caused by fragile suspension parts.there is no paint damage nor any transfer of paint from another vehicle.the damage to the wheel well is consistent with a disrupted wheel whomping around and bashing the well from the inside.i would be gratified if you would investigate.thank you.keef

Here is a tesla model 3 i he junkyard.iaai.com/vehicledetails/35313020/25frot susension parts ll snapped for no good reason.no airbags deployed, no crash damage.justthe usual wheel gon whompy thing.please investigate.thank you.keef

Brand new vehicle with 2 tires having side wall bubbles. No rough driving . Seems to be an inner tire problem. Maybe a defect .continental brand tires.

On november 14, 2019 my car was involved in an accident that i strongly believe there was a malfunction with the accelerator sensors or the accelerator itself. The vehicle suddenly accelerated aggressively as my sister was parking the car. She was going slow as she parked the vehicle and as she drove into the stall, the vehicle sped up aggressively and she could not stop it.we have videos (couldn't upload) that also show the wheels keep going even though it had already made contact with the pillar and nobody is pressing the pedal. Another concern we have is why none of the crash avoidance mechanism took over, the vehicle's safety settings didn't stop the vehicle from continuing to accelerate and drive right into the pillar.we are concerned about the safety of this vehicle.we are available to talk with you about the details of the accident. We filed a complaint with tesla and they claim it is user error, but my sister is 100% sure she didn't press the pedal.we need your help with this investigation.we understand there are others that have filed similar complaints.we want to know what type of investigation tesla did to conclude it was user error.we believe the sensors are not working properly and this is the cause of the accident, but we don't have any way of knowing what kind of scrutiny tesla did in their part to look into what actually happened, also just because their records indicate that the pedal was pressed, we have no way of knowing if this is truly the case instead of the sensors actually inaccurately sensing that a foot was nearby.-- [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Front seats have a manual door release in case of emergencies. Rear occupants do not have an emergency door release. I do not want my children to die in a fireball death inside the car. Please ask tesla to retrofit the fix they provided to other model 3 cars. Please see this video on the tesla fix: https://youtu.be/m6reh0csyzk(jump ahead to the 2 min mark). My car does not have this on either side for the rear occupants. Please see attacked picture.

If a tesla owner is using the tesla app to use the smart summon feature, the vehicle doesn't necessarily stop quickly when their finger is removed from their touch screen if the internet connection for their cell phone and/or for their tesla is poor.i have video of my informal testing of this potential safety issue done in a private parking lot with software version: 2019.32.11.1 d39e85a on my tesla model 3.

The ac system seems to build up moisture in the evaporator or filter every year, and an unbearable smell eventually occurs every time the ac turns on (usually in the warm summer months). While tesla does say they recommend ac system maintenance (cleaning and filter replacement) every two years, the smell should not be the trigger or a symptom. I actually had my car serviced last year for this and paid $180, and the smell is already coming back almost exactly one year later. They are saying this is not a defect, it is something that i will have to pay for each time it occurs.

While driving in autonomous mode it suddenly veered to the right where an 18 wheeler was in the next lane. It almost hit the truck.i was attentive enough to take control. After a few minutes something happened again.

I was pulling into a driveway when my four week old tesla model 3, unexpectedly accelerated for no obvious reason.it felt like car was flying at a high speed and i had no control. In a blurr, we were surrounded by inflated airbags on all sides in a smoke filled car and i realized car had crashed into the garage door and now was pinned under a crumpled garage door.in seconds, an everyday instance of pulling into the driveway had suddenly changed into a nightmare.

Computer box, chip or brain of the car that controls everything. We bought the car in palm spring tesla brand new & paid in full amt.. After 5 months, glitch & black screen is one of the many problems. I brought my car to tesla& told then personally the glitch & black screen problem & they said they will record it in their system. This happened several times within 2yrs owning the car. Every time i brought my car to tesla i always tell tesla to check the black screen & glitching that always happen. All they said it's a minor problem just reboot it. Sometimes the car shutoff automatically without a warning & come back after 10 mins. Twice happened when i was driving highway 10 in ca the car shutoff & all went gone, no hazard light, no left & right turn signal light, no break light, no headlight & black screen appeared, more.on june 21, 2021 it happened again while i was driving. I was scared & i drove my car to the nearest service center in rancho cucamonga when it happened. They checked the car & the problem was computer of the car. They told me my car was over 50k miles & is out of warranty & i have to pay out of pocket. They told me my car history doesn't show record in their system reporting black screen or glitch & they want at least an evidence that i submitted a report to tesla. I looked at my phone& i found an evidence with a video reporting to tesla by email. After they saw still denying always giving me the run around. Until the manager in rancho cucamonga told me if i will not agree to fix my car and pay out of pocket, they will release the car without fixing it & they will take back my rental car. Having me drive my car to home without break light,.headlight, turn signal lights, hazard light, black screen & more. Tesla palm spring denied & rancho cucamonga will not fix if i will not pay out of pocket. Even my bug report they told me they didn't see my report. I have no choice, i ended up paying $2k plus to fix the computer box that controls the car.

Sudden unexpected accelerationcar was in parking lot (both on august12 2018 and on september 26 201 and coming to a stop.. My foot was not on the accelerator but car jolted forward approximately 10 feet.

Vehicle entered a shopping plaza at speed under 10mph and suddenly accelerated to high speed on it's own. It hit three stationary vehicles and knocked down a small tree. Tried stopping the car but the brakes would not work and the car finally stopped after hitting the third vehicle.

Whose criminal liability is the independent guide?self-driving cars must be banned for legal reasons without personal liability.

Driving on rural dirt road. Dust coming in from rear seat bottom, trunk, seat belt holes. So much dust it is unbearable, can't breathe and hard to keep eyes open while driving.

When putting the car in reverse the screen is black as the rearview camera does not work properly. I have had this issue appear and disappear intermittently for as long as i have owner this car, since july 2018. Tesla has not repaired this issue. The rearview camera is unreliable at best.i can send more images if needed taken after multiple occurrences of the same issue.

Our 2018 tesla model 3 has never provided a clear image of the rear camera feed. Especially at night time there are pink+green lines and color distortions covering the image that make it difficult to see and/or recognize objects in the path of rear travel or objects coming up fast from behind while driving straight with the rear camera feed enabled.tesla has claimed these lines are a software bug that will be remedied with a future update since at least october of 2018, but after multiple software updates these same issues persist today.in summary, the rear camera feed is both grainy and obstructed by pink/green lines when reversing at night.the same phenomenon was the topic of a recent conversation thread in the tesla community of a major social network as well:https://www.reddit.com/r/teslamotors/comments/akkslh/model_3_backup_camera_not_sure_this_is_right/

My tesla model 3 has an issue know as phantom touch, which, based on the tesla forms is not a problem that is unique to me, but it occurs with many early production model 3s.according to the discussions in tesla forums, phantom touch is a hardware problem that is resolved by replacing the touch screen.phantom touch has happened to me three times, the first two were when i first got in the car, and i just rebooted the system before driving.the third time it happened while my wife was driving and it created a potentially dangerous situation.the screen picks up phantom signals and starts changing things like radio volume and channels, hvac settings etc.based on my experience, it also turns on an off wipers and headlights.it was a good thing when it happened while driving it was daylight with no rain, if it were dark or raining it could haveeasily caused an accident.based on the messages on the screen it seems that the camera and other safety systems may have also been disabled by phantom touch, and one of the screens that appeared while it was going crazy was to change the speed of the vehicle while on cruise control.i gave tesla the date and time of the last problem, noting that it occurred on june 16 at 11 am plus or minus 10 minutes.i was surprised when they said a repair could not be made unless i was more exact with the time of the issue so logs could be reviewed, and i needed to document the occurrence by my taking a picture of the screen 'going wild' (i guess while driving).i feel that my just reporting that i had the issue, and that it created a potentially dangerous situation, should have been sufficient to have tesla fix the problem.i guess tesla is waiting for some accidents to occur before admitting it needs to be addressed.

The rear camera does not work. At first it was intermittent, now it is permanent.i have documentation of many instances with photos. I could upload only one.

While operating in ac cooling mode, without forewarning, would switch to heating operation. During this unusual behavior, the display does not indicate any change in the hvac system behavior. This defect creates a dangerous situation when the rear passengers are children in car seats. They are exposed to high heat for the duration of the drive while the driver is unaware of the fast developing dangerous situation in the rear that may lead to heatstroke or worst.

Hello- i was trying to park my vehicle in a parking spot in santa clara, california when the car automatically accelerated and hit another car. It then immediately had a flat tire. I did not hit the wrong pedal nor was i accelerating it. It was quite dangerous. It came to a halt after hitting another car. Both the cars were damaged.prior to that we had difficulty trying to connect to the car using the app on the phone but thought it could have been due to an app error. Not sure if it was correlated. This event happened on sep 24. Tesla advised me to tow the car to the service center. Since then my car has been with tesla service. They have not given us any updates about the diagnostics and keep telling us to take the car back. They have cleared to drive the car for 20 miles. My car was extensively damaged. I request you to help. This is quite serious for the safety of everyone. While i am willing to accept if tesla proves beyond a doubt that it was my error, i am quite confident that it did it automatically. I am also concerned that tesla has not given us any update for the last 3 weeks and have not provided us with any details of what the course of action is beyond asking us to take the car back and clearing it to drive for 20 miles. I have 2 kids and want a thorough investigation for the safety of everyone involved. Please help.

Unintended sudden self accelerationcar was sitting at complete stop for 1-2 minutes. No music was playing, and i was not on phone.while the light was still red, the car suddenly self-accelerated, was propelled forward forcefully, with extreme, intense velocity.the car waiting in front of mine was impacted, as well as the car in front of this car. Both were large suvs, and both were damaged. It was fortunate that 2 heavy suv's were able to stop the tesla, which was out of my control.the tesla airbags were activated, and the insurance company determined the car a total loss, an indication how powerful the acceleration must have been.

My vehicle like many other model 3s starting mysteriously opening the window when the vehicle is parked and unattended. This happened 3 times in the past five days. This leaves the vehicle unsecured. They phone app alerts me that one or more windows are not fully closed. There are hundreds of complaints of this on the tesla blog site. No cure or actions have been taken so far. What would happen if parked in public areas for a day or two and if there were foul weather or thieves. They should fix this. The date shown below is for the last time.

1. Backup camera occasionally goes black, rendering it useless. Occurs sporadically.2. Charging port malfunction, will not open when trying to charge vehicle.3. Center screen occasionally non-responsive,

On 01-03-2020 at approx 1 pm pst while driving southbound on hwy 5 at 77 miles per hour, i had "autopilot" engaged. A few times the radio cut out and all icons appeared on the screen. Repeated chiming was audible.i then tried to disengage "autopilot" by turning the steering wheel."autopilot" would not disengage.i then applied the brake pedal.the car slowed down but when i released the brake the car sped back up to the previous speed. "autopilot" would not disengage.the screen rebooted itself and during that time i attempted to disengage the "autopilot" which would not disengage.when the screen came back on after this first reboot it was frozen and would not respond to any input or touch."autopilot" was still engaged.the screen then rebooted a second time and when it came back on is when i could only then fully disengage the "autopilot".

The large touch screen that controls a majority of functions in the vehicle will turn off randomly. This has happened multiple times while driving on a highway. This is incredibly dangerous. I am driving at 65mph+ amd on a highway and have no visibility of what my actual speed is as it is displayed on the touch screen. Additionally, the turn signals are also turned off when the screen shuts off. I am put into a very unsafe situation where i cant use my turn signals and cant view my speed. This is not a solitary incident - this has happened multiple times.

On 7/18/2020, i pulled into parking spot and my tesla accelerated suddenly went over the curb, hit the wall of a business, hit the doors of a business and a person coming out of that business then it hit pole and stopped. Ambulance took a person hitto the hospital ( i pray for his wellbeing), i have police reported and car towed away ( totally ruined). It was like a nightmare when car sped up suddenly and you see person throwninto your windshield. Something must be done before more people are hurt and lives are taken. Tesla this is serious. We just have upgraded the software, last week.

Tesla model 3 does not come with traditional key or key fob. Grandfather sitting in front passenger seat was left with key card while young child fell asleep. He is unfamiliar with the car but was briefly explained how to unlock the car by placing the card on the side pillar. When the child woke up, he exited the car which the car noticed as being empty and locked the car within seconds. He was unable to get back into the car for 15 minutes with attempts to call us by cell with no reception, no card scanner on passenger side of car. The area to place the key card is difficult to discern, he kept putting it over the camera, in the dark and as it approaches winter this type of situation can be dangerous. Tesla has a key fob available for sale and might be provided to new car owners but my belief is this should be provided to all owners as their keycard method is so unusual and can be difficult for unfamiliar users which can lead to a dangerous condition such as being unable to get to a child unlocked from inside the car easily.i immediately ordered the keyfob after what happened in the shopping mall parking lot.

Https://youtu.be/q74d_rk5akkplease find the above youtube link that has the front camera video at the time crash.issues: ======= 1.) tesla auto emergency brake didn't alert or stop.2.) obstacle awareness didn't alert or stop the vehicle3.) lane keeping assistant didn't alert/warn. Allautopilot basic safety settings were enabled.

Car was parked in driveway and spontaneously caught fire at 4am; i suspect that ti was the 12v battery that leaked and corroded and caused a fire after looking at the security footage which showed that the fire originated in the frunk; tesla say they are unable to find a cause of the fire, it has been 5 months since the incident.

There is a well known issue on tesla forums regarding water accumulating in the undercarriage. This had lead to the rear bumper coming off while the car is in motion on the street. Only recently did tesla release a survive bulletin about it. However, they will not fix the car unless something bad happens first. I believe my car, as well as many others, are affected. My car leaks a lot of water in the garage after coming home from a rainy day. I have to line my garage floor with towels to prevent water damage to the walls there is so much water. I am afraid i will be driving at highway speeds and the bumper will come off. I believe tesla should fix the known issue now before something bad happens, not after the fact. This is unsafe.

I discovered a flaw in the model 3 horn mechanism that you press on the steering wheel. I have seen the mechanism and when you press on the left or the right side of the horn button, you can hear the mechanism click, but it's not activating the horn, you need to apply alot of pressure on the sides for the horn to activate. I have already had the mechanism replaced once with tesla and it's the same issue. I have heard about other model 3 owners have the same issue and tesla needs to come out with a better horn mechanism like in the model s or model x where service centers can adjust sensitivity of the mechanism. Normally in other cars you can use your thumb to press the horn on the left or right side of the horn mechanism, but it's takes alot of pressure even in the middle. The photo i attached is the mechanism i am talking about in the steering wheel.

Vehicle undercarriage panel aero shield falls off in heavy rain

So far i know all 2018 tesla model 3 is not equipped with pedestrians warning system.

After approximately 6 months after taking delivery of model 3, a dank smell, like dirty socks emanates from a/c vents after car has been sitting in hot weather.this is a known problem with water remaining on a/c evaporator coils, thus creating a perfect environment for mold. Tesla refuses to cover this defect as part of their warranty even though they acknowledge the design flaw.meanwhile, its customer are subjected to foul smelling mold each time the drive the vehicle in the warm weather.

The pano roof cracked, there is a lot of other owners with this issue, tesla is trying to blame road conditions .when i dropped it off today tesla gave me a loaner brand new model s and it has a cracked pano roof

Several ongoing issues with touch screen failure (black outs) malfunction, has been repaired more than 3 times continues to be issue * ongoing accelerometer malfunction* all of sudden receive error message stability control disabled* --regenerative braking disabled* --automatic emergency braking is disable* ongoing phone key and connection issues, antenna issues, unable to connect to bluetooth. Repeated issues have not been resolved by tesla service dept * touch screen failure (black outs)and consistent issues with connectivity wifi.* mass malfunction of internal hardware * voice control barely works* seatbelt sensor malfunction * issue with breaking noise, screeching * uncontrollable acceleration while ongoing chronic unintended acceleration problems, such a accelerate out of control, jerking, braking all of sudden while driving. Suddenly acceleration* these are ongoing issues with our tesla model 3. Several of these malfunctions have been addressed with tesla service department more than 3 to 4 in the last six months. I own a 2018 tesla model 3 mid-range (non-autopilot, non-self-driving, software update v10.2 - 2019.40.50.7).i experienced a cruise control related safety defect on my non-self-driving, non- autopilot tesla model 3 several times since 2019.40.2.1 update.first time it happened at highway speeds.i was going 60-65mph with no cars in front of me.i set the cruise control, let my foot off of the accelerator expecting the cruise control to active like it always had in the past. Suddenly, instead of maintaining the speed it was set at it, the car slowed down with full regenerative braking to below 50mph while still indicating the set speed on the display.i have had the car for over a year (purchased in december 2018) and use car with the cruise control more or less daily. The issue never appeared until after the 2019.40.2.1 update. I was away from home when the update was installed, so i didn't actually start experiencing the issue until january 6, 2020 when i resumed my daily commute.the most recent time it happened, i was actually on my way to the tesla service center in bellevue wa for an unrelated service appointment. In the this instance, i was turning right onto a four lane, non-divided surface street and accelerating from a stoplight. I remember accelerating to 33mph and seeing the user interface feedback (black circle around the set speed) as i activated cruise control. Before i could react, the car had slowed to about 20mph, while the user interface indicated that the cruise control was still active at 33mph.i was going up a moderate hill at time. The uphill combined with the full regenerative braking effect made me feel unsafe to say the least. I felt fortunate that there were no cars following closely behind me.

Driver felt sudden unintended acceleration while parking the car. The acceleration happened within the last couple of seconds when the car was turning 90% at pretty normal speeds to park. The car hit a tree, and suffered significant frontal damage.

The contact owns a 2018 tesla model 3. While attempting to park the vehicle, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle accelerated rapidly on its own without warning. As a result, the vehicle drove over a curb and crashed into part of a store. The front end of the vehicle was damaged. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was driven to the contact's home. The contact notified tesla's service center at (610) 407-7030, but the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was not available.

When i turned into park space and stopped, my car suddenly accelerated, hit two poles a few feet in front of my car, and damage the car bumper. This is a familiar park space which i parked many time previously. The might accelerate itself. I asked tesla for my driving data log but i have not received it yet. I don't remember exactly if i press accelerator or not when the car accelerated. If i did press the accelerator, the new stopping mode and possibly my turned steering wheel might force me to exert un-proportional pressure on the accelerator pedal. I expect that tesla correct this defect if it is root cause of this acceleration.

The car accelerated suddenly on autopilot causing the car skid and fall into a ditch oat 80 mph in utah. The damage was to the body but the accident could have been worse as it almost went into the other lane

Car was totaled after uncontrollable acceleration. Air bags were deployed

The contact owns a 2018 tesla model 3. While driving with the cruise control set at approximately 67 mph, the vehicle independently accelerated to 75 mph. The failure occurred without warning. The contact was able to disengage the cruise control. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted and an engineer was sent to diagnose the vehicle. The engineer was unable to provide a cause for the independent acceleration. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.consumer stated vehicle either slows down suddenly or speeds up. This has happened multiple times.

While i was parking, the car it unexpectedly accelerated and jump over the side walk and crash itself into the building and destroyed the face of the building and the car. The air bags deployed from the impact of the car.

While reversing into my 2 car garage into the center of the garage space, i came to a stop (auto hold after braking to a stop but with the rear camera view on display) when i reached far inside (to be able to close the garage door). Using the homelink, i closed the garage door (waited till it fully closed 2 ft from the front nose of the car). While i had both feet flat on the driver floor mat, i tapped the right side gear stalk down to switch from reverse to drive, the car jerked forward and the display screen closed the rear view camera. I normally drive forward slowly to put the nose of the car about 1 ft from the garage door (this allows me walking space at the rear of the car while parked). In the past i have noticed less severe 'jerking/lurching' forward when going from reverse to drive while leaving my garage when i would maneuver in the garage space with two cars parked, i thought it was my imagination. In retrospect this car has done it several times over the span of a year. *lnconsumer states that vehicle seems to be activating the cruise control feature when the car is at a complete stop. *dl

Sudden unintended acceleration.vehicle was retrieved from service center after a center screen/computer replacement. Later that evening, when arriving at the destination at a residential neighborhood, i released the accelerator pedal and turned to approach the curb. When the vehicle was next to the curb, it suddenly accelerated. I quickly applied the brake pedal and turned the wheel to steer away from the curb to avoid collision with a parked construction vehicle. Video of the incident was captured with the ring doorbell camera and video footage is available.

As i returned home from work and entered my driveway at very low speed to park, the tesla just took off at what felt like full power acceleration. It could not be stopped and hit my two car garage. Both garage doors and the central column were unhinged and damaged. The contents stored in the garage were damaged and an internal wall was also knocked off. The car was declared a total loss and property damage was extensive. It should be noted that such sudden unintended acceleration had happened with this car a few months earlier also and was reported to tesla with a request that a safety analysis be performed. They stated that there was nothing wrong with the car which i do not agree with in view of this second incident. I was lucky first time since there was no car parked on the other side of the driveway and i was able to turn right, drive on to the grassed area, and then on to the road.tesla has a serious safety problem of sudden unintended acceleration without input from the driver. It must be investigated and fixed.

When driving on 1-5, which is the major expressway connecting san diego all the way to the canadian border near bellingham on a number of occasions when i have had the driving assistance system on,the car has suddenly and rapidlyslowed down when there is a gentle incline. This is not a a gradual slowdown but one that is rapid, and one that requires me to push the accelerator so that i am not endangering the occupant of the car behind me,( the car has never come to a complete standstill) this in spite of there being no cars in front. Further this occurs at multiple speeds. This has occurred on a national expressway and as you can imagine there are no steep inclines on 1-5.i read yesterday that there is an investigation on teslaā€™s autopilot system and as much as i am appreciative of technology, glitches such as this can be life threatening and my hope is you investigate this feature of teslaā€™s autopilot system as well.please note that the date i wrote below is a random date as this has occurred multiple times. And further, the car did not give me any warning of a malfunctioning component.

On october 3rd, at 5:26pm, i entered the vehicle, stepped on the brake and shifted the car into d to pull forward out of a parking space (i backed in).as i gently applied the accelerator pedal to ease forward (and turn left) out of the parking space to head down the parking aisle, the car moved forward much faster than expected so i let off the pedal. The vehicle stops accelerating after letting off the pedal.i try pressing the pedal gently again and the car lurches forward pretty quickly as if i depressed the pedal about halfway down (i did not). Letting go of the accelerator pedal didn't seem to kick in regenerative braking so i pressed on the brake to slow the car down to a speed appropriate for a parking lot.after using the brake, the problem never reappeared and i resumed my drive although i was shaken a bit by the incident.it's almost as if the "throttle map" was messed up for a few seconds asking the car to deliver much higher current than it should have at a 5-10% pedal position.

On 4/17/2019 at approximately 2:40pm i pulled into a small shopping center parking lot and turned right to park in a parking space facing a store front. I was going to a nail appointment, was early and not in a hurry. The car was moving very slowly under the car's own power as i entered the parking space.when i pressed the accelerator to pull to the front of the space the car suddenly accelerated at a high rate of speed jumping the curb, and landing on top of the sidewalk with the front end inside the store front window.i was braking from the moment of fast acceleration and could not get the car to slow down or stop until it was stopped by the store front glass wall.fortunately no one was injured, but there was property damage to the glass and frame store front and to the front end of my car.the car was fully up on the sidewalk with the front end into the front of the pizza shop.the curb was approximately 8 inches high, so when the fireman reversed the car to move it to the parking space the entire underneath scraped along the bottom, fortunately there wasn't any damage to the battery pack.the police and fire department came to t he scene, and a police report was filed due to the property damage at the business.the fireman had to back the car out due to potential integrity issues with the damaged glass store front.iwas not cited.a claim was filed with state farm.i can obtain the police report if needed.there weren't any other vehicles or people involved.

Oct 15, 2019 at 12:30 pm i was going to park the car, was rolling to a stop between parking lines in front of the curb when car suddenly accelerated and crashed into a style fence. Reported the problem the same day to tesla and took the vehicle to the service center and complained. They logged the complaint and said they would get back to me about it. Called and emailed a couple of times. No response to date on why this happened.

I went to large grocery store and pulled into the parking spot and parked in an empty spot next to another car. As soon as i parked, my car tesla model 3 suddenly accelerated at a high speed and sharply turned right on its own without any prompting. It went fully on top of the plant beds and hit two other cars from the front. Luckily, i slammed on the brakes in time after i processed this terrifying occurrence and prevented the car from hitting any pedestrian. Weather conditions were normal for the area with some light rain. I had not used/engaged any of the tesla automatic driving features during my trip and parking.

Twice in the past two weeks, while on autopilot, the car has decelerated spontaneously and dangerously at the same spot on the freeway. The first time almost caused an accident when the car in back of me had to brake suddenly and swerve. I thought it was a fluke when it happened the first time, but it happened again today. Luckily, no other vehicles were in the immediate vicinity. My car had just passed under a large overpass and was near passing under power lines. I reported this to tesla via the voice activated 'bug report' feature within seconds of the occurrence.

When driving, the electrochomatic (auto-dimming) rear-view mirror and side-view mirrors only dim at a pre-determined time of day, which is long after it is dark out, and long after following vehicles have turned on their headlights.they revert back to normal (not darkened) long before sunrise.they do not respond at all to the following vehicle's headlights or to ambient light conditions.along with this, there is a significant portion around the edges of the mirrors that never darken.there is no way for the driver to manually dim the mirrors.the only way to avoid being blinded by the following vehicle's head lights is to redirect the mirror, making the it useless.i brought this to the manufacturer's attention approximately one year ago.the service technician said it was a known issue and would be corrected via a software update.although my vehicle's software has been updated many times, the issue with the mirrors has not been remedied.i have repeatedly reached out to the manufacturer regarding this issue and as of yet, no fix is in order.this issue is widely discussed in online forums, including the manufacturer's owners' forum.it appears that this issue occurs with all cars of this make and model.owners' degree of upset seems related to whether they regularly drive just after sunset and/or just before sunrise.

Rear camera frequently fails ranging in duration of failure from a few seconds, to hours, to days. Camera occasionally will work, but flicker between on and off. This failure occurs both while in motion and stationary. It presents a hazard whenever reversing/checking surroundings of the car. Multiple service attempts have not been able to resolve this issue.

Rear view camera often does not turn on (or is black, while side view cameras work); rebooting car's software system has no effect, as other owners have advised. Tesla mobile technician replaced camera, still doesn't work. Says it may be software or chip-related issue with media control unit.

I found a stress crack on my rear windshield, which the tesla service center in san rafael, california denied was caused by a defect in the glass. My service associate, patrick gerety was particularly unhelpful and i am lodging a complaint directly with the manager of the center, aston martin (no, really), as well.many other tesla model 3 car owners are experiencing failures in their rear windshields. Some are being replaced under warranty, but many - like mine - are being denied. In some cases, the failure seems to be associated with the rear windshield heating system. I had to pay for the replacement. I'm uploading a portion of the invoice along with this description. Note that the car was stationary at the time that the crack was detected.

The backup camera and side view cameras are intermittently not displaying while reversing. The camera displays the trajectory lines, however, the image is totally black. There is no camera feed. This problem has remained, despite several software updates. The camera at times will freeze on a previous image, not the current 'live' image.

After entering my vehicle and initiating a trip to work recently in the late morning. I had activated my windshield wipers to clean my front windshield and after traveling less than a block i heard a crack like pop sound even though nothing had impacted the glass and suddenly a 4 inch crack appeared in the the top middle of the windshield.i had started the process of cleaning my windshield while i was in my driveway and then had proceeded to enter my community street on my way to work and before i had left my local neighborhood, approximately less than 200 feet the crack had occurred and i hadn't even accelerated past 15-20 mph.i though it strange that this happened as there were no other vehicles moving in the vicinity at the time and all i could think was possibly that the glass was super heated and the sprinkling of water on the windshield to wash it with the wipers may have contributed to the incident?it was a very bizarre occurrence.

Random crack appeared in late march, early april 2019 in middle of windshield ~4-5" long. No visible chip. After complaint that windshield cracked for no reason, we ended paying repair out of pocket. Service center didn't agree it as warranty item. Windshield replacement cost (total) was $1023.26. Invoice number 3000s0000056579. Noticed 4" crack in middle/left side of back window on october 2020. Has taken car twice to repair and they don't agree it's warranty item again. No chip. There appears to be part quality issue or structural design flaw causing windows to crack.

When wipers are set to 'auto' mode, they are far too slow to react. Do to the manual mode requiring the touch screen to change, a novice to the system would have a very hard time changing to the wipers to work much faster.this would cause a very unsafe and hazards condition.as it is now, i do not feel safe letting anyone else drive this car in the rain.

The visibility in the side and rear view mirrors is very limited.the visual indicator for the turn signals is hardto hear and view in the central console, which is also causing distraction for the driver and taking away his attention from the road.there is also no warning indicator for the blind spots during lane changes and the console show only cars in front, but not on the side blind spots.blinkers in the side-view mirrors for turn signals and blind spot vehicles like in toyota and other models is much safer.this vehicle and model needs to be investigated and a possible recall should be made.

Brand new vehicle with 2 tires having side wall bubbles. No rough driving . Seems to be an inner tire problem. Maybe a defect .continental brand tires.

*as

Bolt that held holds the control and subframe came loosened over time. Tesla is saying it is my fault but there are multiple people with the same issue on the internet. The bottom front under piece composite material which is part of the under carriage spontaneously broke while driving on the freeway in the rain. There are numerous reports in the internet of the composite under pieces breaking from water or missing/loose bolts.

Third party product called an alloy gator (https://alloygator.com/us/)which is sold by alloy gator north america (us office 9035 dearborn ave, blaine, wa 90238) tel 1=855=534-2867 partially detached from my wheel while i was on the highway, began flying around, and smacked into my passenger side rear door, rear quarter panel and rear bumper. It then snapped off and shot away from the vehicle like a high speed projectile.the product contains no warnings about the risk of this happening, seems to be defectively designed, and it could very well have hurt a person or property when it snapped off at high speed.the product is unsafe and should not be permitted to be sold in the u.s. Attaching pictures of the damage caused as well as a photo of the remaining part of the alloy gator as it appeared on my wheel after the damage was done.

Here is a model 3 in the junkyard.https://www.copart.com/lot/25836110/photosthe cast metal hub assembly on the front rh side has shattered causing the wheel to fall off. This was not the result of a crash, no air-bags have deployed and there is almost no damage to the bodywork.this cracked hub is indicative of bad quality casting and quality control.it is unlikely to be the only such case.the culture of intimidation at tesla in which it is reported that daring to make eye contact with lord elon will result in immediate dismissal means that these failures are never reported.please investigate.keef wivaneff

We have a 2018 tesla model 3, purchased new in late july 2018, which currently has about 32,000 miles. We have now had 8 flat tires in the span of 26 months or on average one every 4,000 miles, all by puncture.we live and drive in the san francisco bay area.our other vehicles have gone 10+ years without a flat tire so the tesla flat tires are not due to the area we live in.. On our tesla we have had to replace 7 tires, 5 with assistance from michelin at a total out of pocket cost of about $2,000. Plus much time, pain and suffering. The flat tire issue is an obvious design flaw as tesla specs and delivers the car with michelin 235/45r18xl 98w mic primacy tires that are prone to puncture due to the weight of the vehicle, the low profile soft rubber tire and the car does not come with a spare tire. We have talked at length with tesla service and they admit that the car is a 'flat tire magnet' as it is one of the heaviest vehicles on the road, the low profile performance tires are puncture prone and flat tires are the most common repair.we have been stranded several times due to getting a flat in an area with poor cell phone coverage, which means you are basically hitch hiking.on 2 occasions we were on a freeway in the fast or second lane when the puncture occurred and the vehicle automatically slowed down with alarms screeching forcing drivers behind us to pass on the right precluding us from pulling over for a long period of time, which destroyed the flat tire, requiring replacement.this was an extremely dangerous situation and left my wife and i terrified. We no longer trust the vehicle for trips outside of our immediate area.
