The air bag is malfunctioning, the lights kept coming on. The dealer i bought the vehicle from agreed to fix the problem if i purchased the vehicle. Well it was too expensive so the ended replacing the pass. Seat airbag module with a used seat from another used vehicle. The steering wheel also makes a whinning noise when turning the wheel. The dealer told me it was the rubber rubbing against the cover. I found out from a ex-employee of the dealer that it was the steering column needing replacement. Since then every other owner i have spoken with says their steering wheel is the same. So it must be a faulty steering column in all these vehicles. Back to the airbag, the following months since getting my airbag fixed, the dash lights no longer came on in the vehicle. I did, however, notice that the indicator light would sometimes say off and sometimes say on if i had a front seat passenger. Several months following this, i started having a problem with my vehicle going dead. I took the cook to have it inspected, everytime i was told that the battery was fine as was the alternator. I started driving watching the voltage meter. Finally, i replaced the battery. I no longer have a problem with the car dying on me, but i do notice that the vehicle voltage still fluctuates from 12.3 to 14.3. When the fluctuation occurs, nothing has changed as far as running extra accessories etc. Now my traction service light, stability control light, abs light and service airbag light are all coming on. Researching i have found online from numerous message boards and owners that this is a common occurrence and when repeatedly reported to manufacturer there is nothing being done. Examples are the lights coming on, air bags deploying while driving, vehicle acc.(radio and a/c controls) not working and so on. Is there a way you can investigate this with suzuki?

Passenger side seat is not recognizing a passenger is in the seat, so air bag is off and alert light stays on and off periodically. The light comes on once we are stationary and may go off and on as the car is in motion.vehicle has 72200 miles a and i am worried the air bag will not deploy if needed. The sensor in the passenger seat appears to not work as it should.

This vehicle should be recalled. It is a lemon!! i bought my suzuki 2 years ago used and have had nothing but problems. I have had the timing chain replaced. After i get gas it sputters and struggles starting. The traction control light comes on and the engine power is reduced. Eventually it just stops running. I could not drive my suzuki most of the winter because of that and no one knows how to fix it. The sunroof and windshield leak. I have had a mechanic look at it a couple of times and it is still leaking. The passenger air bag light doesn't work. The turn signal doesn't work. Now my speedometer stopped working. It is stuck at 80 when it is parked and then goes up from there when i am driving it. Who knows what else is going to stop working. I am so frustrated, there are too many problems with this vehicle. It is unsafe!

The air bag indicator came on and then i noticed that the passenger side air bag light stays in the off position. It does not matter how much weight is in the seat. I have a friend that weighs only 120 pounds, plus two full grown boys who weight between 130 and 200 pounds. It does not matter who sits in the seat or how much they weigh the air bag indicator always shows it as off. I called the dealer and was told that the first fee would be around 150.00 to determine the problem and then i could get a price for the repair. This is crazy because i have researched and found many others with the same problem. I also see that gm is recalling other vehicles for the same issue but not the xl7. I have had issues with the purge value and now the air bags.

On august 27,2013 i was driving down the road with my 5 year old son in the backseat and we heard a noise and all of the i did not run up on the curve. They just popped out. Luckily my 5 year old did not get hit by the airbags. I received burns on my neck where the airbags hit my seatbelt. In turn it broke the drivers side seatbelt and the passenger side seatbelt.i called suzuki and they sent me a form to sign that would release them from all liabilities and if i did not sign the would not even look at my car.i tried several times to contact them and when i refused to sign the paper they closed the case and will not reopen it until i sign the liability waiver.since the airbags deployed there have been things going on with my car. It steadily rattles, like something is going to fall off.my drivers side windows makes a bump noise when i roll down or up this did not happen until after the deployment. There are so many little things its hard to explain.my steering wheel is making a whiny noise when you turn it.i don't know if this from the airbags (probably not) but now i am scared my steering wheel airbag will pop while i am driving and i will get into an accident with my children in the car.suzuki is not taking responsibility for this and there is something with my vehicle and i have also found on the internet there is others that have done the same thing.

Wednesday, 2-1-12 at approximately 1:20 central time i was driving 30-40 mph range north on 132nd st. Just passed eagle run drive on a clear day that was sunny and in the lower 60's, my side impact curtain air bags on both sides deployed in all three rows.i do not think i hit a bump or swerved my wheel but do know i did not do anything i have not done in my car before. There was no impact damage to my car on any sides. I am currently in contact with suzuki. I am concerned as i found at least 7 other cases with similar stories on the web in which suzuki blames the driver saying the sensors detected an imminent rollover or erratic driving and dragged out their response time over months other with result being refusal to pay.i feel there is an underlying issue , "the perfect storm" of circumstances that they are missing which needs addressed. I want them to do the right thing and pay my deductible and rental as well as reimburse my insurance company.but more importantly they need to fix this on a larger scale to ensure no one else is a victim of these circumstances. I will have the auto shop save all the data recording devices and would ask that you contact me as to the appropriate safety inspection address to send them to.

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7. The contact stated that the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the evap purge valve was defective. In addition, the contact stated that while driving at 55 mph, the vehicle would shake and had a loud noise coming from the front wheels. Also, the contact mentioned that the air bag sensor had malfunctioned. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who stated that the front wheel bearing needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

We have a 2007 suzuki xl-7. The side and back airbags deployed for no reason. We have a police report stating no accident or damage to the vehicle. Suzuki will not take any responsibility for their product, geico cannot do anything unless they get a written statement from suzuki who refuses to talk to them and now me. This is a warranty issue since the suv is a 2007 and has only 27,000 miles. Please help.

Service passenger airbag light came on and won't go off. *ln updated 1/9/2013

On february 4, 2011, i was driving between 10-15mph on a very rough road due to the city of tulsa not clearing the roads after 12 inches of snow. All of the sudden all side air bags went off. That day i drove it to the dealership.i did not get it back until april 23, 2011. I was giving every excuse in the book on about every day on why it was taking so long to get fixed.an insurance check was issued to the repair shop february 18th.the parts were not ordered until around the 28th.i was told they could not find the seat belts and i was asked to try to find some online. Once i provided two sites to the repair shop they claimed they can only order from suzuki. My wife informed the dealership she was going to report this to the local media outlet.all of the sudden seat belts appeared 1000 miles away.they even argued about having to get them. The insurance company (farmers) wants a recall on the rollover sensor, and requested the repair shop to contact suzuki. The repair shop want me to do this.i had to pay for the sensor being farmers thinks it is defective. $447.49 total bill $5766.73.

Passenger side seat does not properly recognize presence of passenger.service airbag message on hud alerts failure of proper recognition.suspect there is malfunctioning electrical/pressure sensor.as ~100lb passenger shifts weight, passenger airbag indicator will turn off/on.problem first noticed at roughly 85k miles in 2016. Unable to repair due to lack of parts.concern is airbag will not deploy appropriately.

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7. While driving at various speeds, the passenger side air bag warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the failure would occur intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the flexibility of the sensor would make the sensor read the passenger's weight intermittently. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 125,225.

I own a 2007 suzuki xl7 the service airbaglight came on and after spending a good sum of money to find out why by a local certified mechanic i was told that the passenger seat sensor was bad ??? i called the local dealer and was told that the connector was under recall and the seat sensor had alot of bulletins to bring it up and they should handle it leaving the vehicle with them i waited for the call they called the afternoon and said it would be $1056 for a new bottom seat and the airbag would not work.so at this point suzuki and its partner gm would be responsible for yet more injuries and possible deaths for failing to recall the passenger seat sensor !!!! showing once more just like the ignition switch that money it cost for recalls is more important that human injuries and lives !!! as well as customer loyalty.... I my self have done simple searches and found more than a few outside of this nhtsa site and the dealer are aware of the problem with out having to research so much so that they knew what i was talking about at the first mention of it. ... Come on this is a airbag issue not a broken door handle or a rattle this is serious !!!

The airbag would not turn on regardless of the weight in the passenger seat.when inquired with dealer, we were told there wasn't enough weight even though it ranged from 120- 250. Then the air bag indicator came on and the air bag on/off passenger light is always on off, the airbag on/off light never goes on.now the dealer is telling us we need to replace the pad in the passenger seat...probably, they can't be certain until it's been changed at a fee of $800. This seems to be a constant issue for this vehicle and the plant that it was made in.the xl7 and other gm cars with same body frame have the same problem except the xl7 is not being recalled.why not? i fear it's because the xl7 has had a smaller production than other gm cars and now with suzuki no longer in production, we owners have no one to investigate and initiate a recall - isn't this where/when the government should be stepping up? this cannot be meeting mandatory safety standards. My research shows these vehicles were effected in addition to the xl7:gmc/acadia 2007, saturn/outlook 2007manufacturer: general motors corp.nhtsa campaign id number: 07v062000 mfg's report date: february 21, 2007component: air bags: frontal: sensor/control modulesummary:on certain vehicles, the sensing and diagnostic module (sdm), which controls the function of front air bags, may not operate properly. As a result, the front air bags may fail to deploy in a frontal crash. Also, the air bag warning lamp on the instrument panel may fail to provide warning that the system is inoperative. Consequence: n the event of a crash, this condition could increase the risk of injury to occupants in the front seat. Remedy: dealers will reprogram the sdm computer module.why is the xl7 not included in this recall/ repair/ reprogram?

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7. The contact was driving 35 mph when both the driver and passenger frontal air bags deployed and exploded independently. The dealer was contacted and advised that there were no recalls for the failure and no further assistance was offered. The manufacturer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 96,000.

Randomly the "service passenger air bag" message is displayed and passenger air bag light goes on and off.service tire monitoring system message randomly displayed.

The airbag system had to be replaced at 16,000 miles b/c of warping & the airbags beginning to release. Then, not 1 time but 3 times the visor assembly had to be replaced. At 26,900 miles i reported problems with the gear shift, a/c & radio assembly & this had to be replaced. I reported complaints of hearing a loud noise coming from my steering wheel column when driving & they stated that it was just rubber rubbing up against rubber. After 30,000 miles i took it back & complained & they said it was my steering column & pin that needed to be replaced & my warranty for that part was gone off. I had a problem with my car when i filled it up with gas the car would not crank properly & it ran ruff after putting gas in. The dealership replaced chain assembly, tensioners, timing chain, purge valve & etc. I had problems with the a/c & heat when i turned on the air with the control heat would blow out. I reported the problem but they said they could not duplicate it & that they found nothing. I had problems with the car battery & the mechanics said the battery was fine but i kept having problems with the battery being drained so i replaced the battery & the battery terminals. The electrical system for the passenger seat airbag sensor would not turn on when someone was sitting in the passenger seat the problem was not solved & still occurs. My car had to be towed into the dealership b/c the vehicle shut down due to sludge in my oil even after having my car serviced by a suzuki dealership since buying the car new. I have reported complaints to suzuki headquarters but they don't care. I think this vehicle is unsafe and a lemon & people should be compensated for investing in such a defective car. I have paid off the suzuki & it is not worth trading b/c i can't get anything for it so please help consumers get their money back b/c suzuki can have this suv back.

The passenger side airbag sensing unit is not recognizing the presence of a passenger. The airbag remains off even though the front passenger seat is occupied by an adult.

I am an owner of a 2007 suzuki xl-7 awd limited version. About a year after purchase, the passenger airbag located immediately below the passenger side front dash board began to show an outline in the dashboard.it appears like there is some pressure from the inside of the airbag pushing up against the dashboard material and cutout for the airbag deployment area.the airbag has not yet deployed not has the vehicle been in any accidents.it appears there is a poor quality dash material or a defective airbag.i am concern that when the airbag is needed, it will not deploy.suzuki would not even replace it while under warranty because they determined there was nothing wrong with it.now that its out of warranty, the problem is still evident and may become worst with time.

Airbag malfunction. Light does not always initiate when there is a passenger in the car. My concern is that if there is an accident that the airbag will not operate properly or at all.

Traveling at 45-50 mph on a flat road, clear conditions. Heard a loud bang inside vehicle, 4 side curtain (rollover) airbags deployed spontaneously. No impact with anything. Horrible smell inside vehicle. Felt a burning on my forehead. Don't recall pulling off road.

Side airbag malfunction.

I have a 2007 suzuki xl7 limited that was bought brand new and have been experiencing some issues that i have never had while owning two other suzuki suv's. On june 24th, 2010, my daughter was driving in traffic at 32 mph when the side airbags deployed. There was no impact to the vehicle. She did not hit anything and nobody hit her. She was not driving erratic nor irresponsibly and this was confirmed by a motorcycle police who was observing the traffic at the time this happened. My car is still under warranty, so i took the vehicle to the suzuki dealership and reported the incident. They stated that they had never heard of that happening and insinuated that the car had to have been driven recklessly for the deployment to happen. Suzuki stated they could not do anything until the module had been tested, to determine what took place. It took more than a month for suzuki to inform me of their decision and that was after i called to find out what was going on. Suzuki informed me that the module was found to be in good condition and reported that the vehicle experienced lateral g?s ranging from (-) 1.17 ~ (+) .91 ~ (-) 2.08 during the last 180 m/sec. Max roll rate was 40 deg/sec @ 30 m/s. The data indicates that an evasive maneuver was taken causing the ros (roll over sensor) to sense an imminent rollover event, thus deploying the curtain air bags. Suzuki refused to provide me with transportation during the month it took them to test the module and does not intend to fix my car even under warranty and a police officer as witness. For a customer who has bought three(3) brand new vehicle from this company, i find it a slap in the face to be treated like this. I would like this defect/malfunction investigated by nhtsa and suzuki to accept responsibility. My vehicle has less than 30k miles on it and is still under warranty, yet suzuki maintains even wth the evidence, that i must fix their $7k problem myself if i ever want to drive my vehicle again.

Side air bags deployed while driving down the street at approximately 30 miles an hour. There was no impact with anything. No rough road or potholes, it was a straight stretch of road, on a 4 lane road. The noise was so loud it almost made me deaf. The fumes were awful. I almost wrecked trying to pull out of the street. I did call the police whom wrote an incident report, because they had never seen this happen before.

On april 18th, 2010, my husband was driving on a stretch of flat city street going approximately 25 mph. A loud bang went off in the car and white powder dispersed throughout the car. He pulled over and noted that all the curtain airbags had deployed. Upon inspecting the car, no damage was noted. He did not remember hitting a pot hole or curb. He drove the car to where we were staying (we were visiting family in another state) and called our insurance company. Geico came out two days later, took pics and denied the claim due to no impact. Had no money to get vehicle towed right away so it sat for a month while we filed a complaint through the department of insurance. When we received a letter from insurance stating they would reopen the claim, we had it towed to a suzuki dealer. Dealer claims they cannot pinpoint an impact and insurance just denied the claim a second time. We are now waiting for the manufacturer to come out and take a look. Upon doing some research online, at least 4 other complaints with this same thing on the same model were reported. I have only been online about 35 minutes and am appalled at the number of complaints. And with all of the complaints, suzuki has refused to pay as well as insurance. The total for repair will be around $7000 and we are incredibly lucky our one year old was not in the car when the airbags went off. This could've resulted in a huge accident or injury. There is no doubt a recall needs to be issued for the safety of consumers!!

Suzuki will not take any responsibility for their product, geico cannot do anything unless they get a written statement from suzuki who refuses to talk to them and now me. The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7. The contact stated all of the gauges on the instrument panel failed to function. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified and stated there were no recalls and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 53,000.

There are multiple issues with my 2007 xl-7.most recently it's been the smell of burning wires coming from either the steering column or under the dashboard which i will need to get inspected asap. I read one other complaint posted on 2/29/12 stating the same problem of smelling burning wires which ended in the vehicle being engulfed in flames and the family running for their lives.i've already had a so called tune-up from the local dealer about 1 1/2 years ago, but i now have issues starting the vehicle when i get gas.i have to pump the gas pedal multiple times in order to start the suv and then it's a rough idle until i start driving. I get the oil change regularly, but was told on the last oil change the i needed a new oil pan gasket because oil was leaking from the pan. I also had my brakes checked 2 years ago and was told by the mechanic that i have uneven brake pads due to the front brake calipers engaging incorrectly or on one side of the rotors. In order to replace the calipers, get new brake pads and turn the rotors on the front, it would cost me $400+ per the mechanic which i felt was ridiculous. I've never heard of faulty brake calipers on a vehicle under 5 years of age as i bought my xl-7 new in 2007 and the brake inspection was between 2009 - 2010. My windshield wipers failed one year to the point where i now have a scratch on my windshield. I like the style of the xl-7 and it's horse power and it's not failed me on long road trips, but the recent issue and past issues are very troublesome. I'm very close to paying my suv off and no longer have the warranty so i have some decisions to make on whether i should invest the money or get rid of it. A recall on the electrical system should be implemented when considering all the past complaints. By the way, the dealer i purchased my xl-7 from no longer exist.

The engine overheated due to wiring shorting out on two fan motors. No fuse was tripped or light came on. Both motors shorted causing the connectors in the wiring harness to melt.melting was discovered by local dealer.the wiring is being removed.i have pictures and i have documented the problem.the parts being kept due to seriousness of the defect.

I am the original owner of a 2007 suzuki xl7. Due to disabilities in the family i put several miles on this vehicle. From the beginning i have several issues w/this vehicle. Because of suzuki's lack of concern/interest i have decided to make formal complaints about the "safety" issues today. If i was to list all problems with this vehicle i would be here all day. Out of 4 passenger windows we currently have only 2 functioning. When diagnosed i was told that one window was the motor and the other was electrical. After paying $76.00 to the dealership to identify the electrical problem they told me that they would need at least an additional hour (additional $76.00) to find the wiring problem. I declined. I have made several calls to suzuki, about their product, to which they have replied i have too many miles on my car and they will do nothing for me. Also, the latches that fold the middle seats down often stick. At any given time you can go to pull one up so as to fold the middle seats and they will not budge! we have already had this issue addressed way back in the beginning of owning the vehicle. When we brought it back in to have the multiple issues addressed (something suzuki suggested we do to see if we could help) we were told that "they would need to be taken apart to see what the problem was". For a cost, of course. We do not let our daughters ride in the third row seating for fear that if something happened they could not get out!! suzuki's rep (who i was told was on vacation and didn't know when he could consider our issues) quickly emailed back to the dealer "too many miles, not going to help". I cannot even begin to afford the multiple problems w/this car and the value has decreased so that trading it in is just not an option. My concern is that i drive my children in this car daily and everytime i hope and pray nothing major happens. My children now call the car the "lemon" or the "beater". As they too are well aware of all the problems w/the vehicle.

The airbag system had to be replaced at 16,000 miles b/c of warping & the airbags beginning to release. Then, not 1 time but 3 times the visor assembly had to be replaced. When put gas in doesn't start has to hold gas pedal down.. Driving on hi way going 70mph on interstate 69. Had to come to abrupt stop truck shut off and would not start for few minutes in middle of highway . This has happened twice so far.and sometimes when speeding up it smells like something is burning.theres other stuff but not too major as these are.

I went to turn left this evening departing off of a sharp turn and the car without warning became almost impossible to steer.meanwhile, another automobile came flying around the turn and barely missed hitting me. It took much arm muscle but i was able to get the car home.this is our only family car and i am not comfortable any longer driving it.prior to this incident the readings on the dash began acting up and the remote start quit.

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7. The contact stated that the steering wheel was making a strange noise and water was entering the vehicle on the passenger side floorboard.the contact stated that the water initially leaked from the sunroof which was taken to the dealer and repaired, but the problem persisted. From the leakage, mold began to form in the vehicle.it was taken to an authorized dealer who offered no assistance. The vehicle was also taken to a second dealer for the steering wheel failures where the contact was advised that the bushings would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired, as the part needed for repairs was on backorder. The horn had also failed but the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was unavailable and the current mileage was 48,082.the failure mileage was 35,000.

The speedometer on the car doesn't work correctly if at all when driving as well as the the fuel gauge. The car started it's dingy noise as if the key is always in the ignition (when off) or a door is ajar. It won't shut off when driving or when turned and it drains the battery. This car has had more problems and should've been recalled. The fuel pump was recalled but there are so many issues that have happened. Driving without the speedometer working of the fuel gauge working correctly should be addressed and the dealer is not able to fix the problem. Super frustrating! dealing with this issue now for over a year. Having to take it back to the dealership for the 3rd time.

I purchased my xl7 luxury new in 2007 with only 368+ miles. Before i had driven the vehicle for 3 months, the stability control and traction control lights came on and i was forced to take the vehicle for service. Before my vehicle warranty expired, i had to replace the gas caps numerous times resulting in the replacement of my catalytic converter. Now before my vehicle reached 100,000 miles, i am forced to replace the electrical harness (or complete computer output). Pugmire lincoln mercury is the only dealership in my area that provides repairs for my vehicle. After the harness repair, the check engine light is back on, and the codes (in less than 3 months) reveal that codes: [p2099, p0157, p2272 and p2099] resulting that there is an oil leak, an o2 sensor problem and another catalytic fuel problem again. It is time for my 100,000 mile check-up, but i cannot get past the original problems. These conditions continue and i love my vehicle. I was using my vehicle for to and from work of less than 11 miles daily. I have driven as far west as san antonio, tx and north to baltimore md and south to jacksonville fl. My abs light continues to come on and my oil light flashes to instruct me to cut off the motor and tighten my gas cap while in motion.

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7. While driving approximately 25 mph, the temperature gauge abnormally increased and the engine overheated. The contact maneuvered the vehicle to the side of the road and noticed smoke (no flames) under the hood. The vehicle was towed to anindependent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the instrument cluster would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.

Possible bad software issue. Faulty (gone bad)'voltage regulator chip" that controls voltage and alternator. When it malfunctions it causes entire system and motor to shut down. If you are driving it locks up transmission and you can not control car. Been going on for months. Dealership just jerking me around for months.

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7. The contact started the ignition and all of the doors automatically locked and could not be unlocked. After three attempts, the doors were eventually unlocked by a person on the exterior of the vehicle using the key fob. The vehicle was not diagnosed for the malfunction. The contact had not notified the manufacturer of the one time occurrence. The approximate failure mileage was 15,000.updated 12/20/11*ljupdated 01/19/12

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7. The contact stated that if there was a power failure while in the vehicle, he noticed that one would be unable to exit the vehicle. The unlock/lock button was electronically controlled. He had to have someone get a second key to unlock the doors so he could get out of the vehicle. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The current and failure mileages were approximately 18,000.

It is a shame this vehicle has not been recalled for any of the problems we have encountered.1.steering wheel is difficult to turn at slow speeds and makes loud rubbing noise.2.door locks will not unlock using key fob.have to manually unlock by hand from the inside.i consider this a danger.3.vehicle will not maintain one speed on its own.even with cruise control, the car's power decreases.i am petrified to pull out in traffic with this car.4.sunroof leaked all over into the interior electric due to improper installation from the factory.5.turn signal switch does not work.6.heating and cooling system does not work properly.can only adjust temp if you set it on windshield defrost mode.7.rear end has strange bang coming from it.dealer can't determine any problem.

Family was traveling to town when we smelled something that smelled like wires burning. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the smell disappeared. Upon leaving the stop sign we were at, we traveled about a quarter of a mile & the driver (myself), started to smell smoke. I then pulled over to further inspect the vehicle at which time, i turned on the overhead lamp in the vehicle since it was starting to get dark, & noticed that the whole front dashboard at this point, was glowing red, orange, & blue & thick black smoke was boiling up on the entire inside windshield & that the truck on the driver's side was fully engulfed in flames behind the dashboard. I immediately got my children (teenagers) out of the truck & leaned over to grab my purse & saw that there was blue flames dripping down from under the dashboard onto the floor where my feet had previously been just seconds before. We all ran as fast & as far as we possibly could away from the vehicle to safety. Within 3 minutes of getting safely out of the truck (by the grace of god), the entire truck was fully engulfed in flames. The trucks windows had at this point, already had started blowing out & shattering & it was shooting huge basketball size fireballs out of the top of the truck into the fields that were beside the road we were on. The local fire department had arrived on the scene at 4 minutes after the truck had caught on fire, & the flames were nearly 30 to 40 feet above the truck. The fire department as well as the fire chief, determined the cause of the fire was due to an electrical failure and/or malfunction within the truck itself. I am just very thankful to the good lord that we all got out safely.if, i had kept driving, the fire department stated that we all could have passed out from smoke inhalation & possibly lost our lives that night. I just wanted others to be aware of this very serious situation.

My car speedometer is not working it started all of a sudden reading 120 miles an hour when i was driving 30 miles per hour also my speedometer reads 120 miles per hour when car is stopped.

Every time i get a car wash, my car horn stops working on my 2007 suzuki xl7. Have replaced multiple times. Suzuki told me not to wash my car and my horn will work fine(???).this is a major safety issue in both locking my car and with oncoming traffic to avoid any collisions.

2007 xl7 has the service traction control , service stability control , and engine reduced power, dashboard warnings on: story; 02/15 i was driving my 2007 xl7 and the brake pedal got very sensitive and short and tight-quick gripping/biting. I had to touch it extremely lightly when stopping. A few minutes later the car started to tug, and pull back and just created resistance against me when i wanted to give it gas. It was similar to bad gas, like missing and sputtering, but it was different because the car was giving me resistance, not just losing power, i thought that the brakes were trying to seize up. After a stop light, i headed up a hill and the car just fought me down to a dead stop.

This vehicle has multuple problems including strongest odor of fuel, stability control and delivering fuel into the system as gas paddle pressed for moving/speed.thank you

Traction control system comes on vehicle slows down and wheels stop spinning, braking system becomes stiff, there seems to be a change in motor sounds when this happens.this has to be a manufacturer defect in this vehicle.

Brakes is to hard and the tides and i can moveto drive and the check engine is on all the time and the lightstability control too

This was the 2nd time this problem occurred. This time i was coming back from a drive on the hwy and my wheel started to shake. It was a drastic change of a smooth ride to a weird shaking. I exited the hwy and went the street way. Still it did not improve got worst could barely accelerate . The brakes were so sensitive i barely pushed them down and it stopped. By the time i got home the and parked the car in the garage it stated to run hot. So i wanted to remove it out the garage it was very hard to reverse i got it half way out of the garage and grabbed my son we ran because it was smelling hot and running hot.

Timing chain failure at 58,000 miles - did internal damage to engine. Needs new engine. Was fine one minute then went to start it and it would not start.

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7. The contact stated that the engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The dealer (suzuki depot, 936 e 3rd st, santa ana, ca 92701, (800) 338-9208) was contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and indicated that the vehicle was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 12v597000 (fuel system, gasoline). The contact was uncertain if the part was still available and if there was a dealer that could provide the replacement part. The failure mileage was not available.

2007 suzuki xl7 awd.recall oil leaking in driveway, can result fire.it's a total mess oil leak in driveway!

The timing chain in the engine of my car snapped, causing damage to the valves and other parts of the engine which then gives me two options, replace the entire engine or buy a new car. Worst part? we still owe money on this car! if we'd known of these issues with the xl7, we would have never bought it. Boy, what a predicament we're in now. I am wondering if a class action suit has been pursued against suzuki for knowing about this problem but not recalling this make & model.

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7. While driving various speeds, the vehicle would not accelerate. The contact was able to pull the vehicle over and it restarted after several attempts. The failure occurred intermittently. Also, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 172,000.

I have a 2007 suzuki xl7 which has stretched timing chains. This is an issue with the gm motor that is installed, and there are hundreds or thousands of instances on the internet of people having expensive repairs done to fix this issue through all milagros ranges of the life of this car.

I just purchased this vehicle 9 days ago and took it through inspectin today. It failed due to the codes p0008,p0009,p0018,p0017,p0016 which are the timing chains and twin cam position sensors. The repair to the vehicle is $1500.00 or more due to the extent of the procedure for the repair. I was told that this expense is my cost even though i only had the vehicle 9 days. This is an on going issue i have noticed with all these vehicles within the year of 2007. Suzuki told me that it is not in the man. Warranty anymore due to the miles. I really need help there is not even a recall for this issue.

I have a check engine light that has come on. I took the car back to where i purchased the vehicle, they tell me it is too bad. That the car was sold as is. I take the car to a local mechanic who says that i need to have the timing chain and tensioner replaced. It will cost $600 plus parts to repair. My vehicle has 116xxx miles. There is paint chipping, and my instrument cluster is showing the temp gauge on hot and rests in the middle position after sitting over night. A class action lawsuit against suzuki should be considered, because the number of complaints for this issue, and there has not been a recall, is outrageous. This is a 3 day repair job at minimum. Suzuki knew this was an issue, they should show some morality and ethics as to offer their consumers a remedy to this issue. Somethingneeds to be done to rectify this problem. Before an accident or loss of life happens.

Timing chains are faulty in the 2007 suzuki xl-7 containing the gm 3.6l motor.need to issue recall. Very common problem with this engine. Engine could seize while in operation.

Check engine light came on in our car n was told it was timing chain tensioner n come to find out it just the cam shaft position sensor n our power steering is messed which u have to use all the muscles u can to turn it

Engine misfire, stretch timing chain. Engine light on, bad engine, poor desighn engine. We need a recall on this 3.6l engine

Have had vehicle three years. Now they say the engine is gone and needs replaced but is not under warranty because i have too few oil change receipts. This night impossible to keep everyone of them considering i drive a good ways every day. Any documentation should be enough for the warranty. It is a scam by crooked dealers and cheap parts for this to happen under 100,000 miles. There are multiple forums online with similar problems with the same vehicle. It is a crime noone has launched a class action lawsuit against them yet. I would be entirely interested in joining one.

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7. While driving various speeds, the vehicle shook and a strong fuel odor emitted in and around the vehicle. In addition, after fueling the vehicle, it failed to start and the engine made a loud noise and failed to accelerate over 15 mph. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was previously repaired a recall for the fuel system, gasoline. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The nhtsa campaign number was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.

Fumes coming inside truck from the gas causing inhalation and dizziness and headache. No leakage. Even when truck is turned off, the smell of gas is still strong. Fear of explosion.

I picked up my wife for lunch and we stopped at a restaurant. When we got back in the car, it wouldn't start. We had to have it towed to a repair shop. The result: the compression that's supposed to be at 160 is at less than 60. The work to fix it is not worth the price. At 128,515 miles our engine is done. We still owe money on the car ($8000) and must decide between a new engine ($2000) or a complete loss of the car. We will be contacting an attorney and will sign on for that class action lawsuit. How is this legal suzuki?

The check engine light is on in the vehicle and when checked by the dealer, the cams and timing chain are not in timing. The cams have shifted and the timing chain may be stretch. Seems to be a common failure to all of these vehicles and there should be a recall for this situation. Also due to the check engine light the remote start isn't working either.

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7.while driving 70 mphshe heard a clicking sound from under the hood area.she applied pressure on the accelerator pedal but there was a reduction of engine power. Next the engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel.

On straight away when you get to about 45 mph it jerks and the motor speeds up and also when you stop to make a right or left turn the motor speeds up but the car does not move then it jerks and starts moving. It has made me almost have an accident. No lights come on to let me know that something may be wrong or that it needs to be checked.prior to this i have had traction stability problems.

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7. While driving at 25 mph, the vehicle began to overheat. The contact shut off the engine to allow it to cool. The entire console warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer advised that the passenger side fan motor failed yet the parts needed to make the repair were on a national backorder. The dealer was unable to provide an estimate of when the part would become available. The manufacturer advised they would contact the dealer and did not provide any further assistance. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileages were 57,027.

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7.while driving downhill at 25 mph, the vehicle lost power.there was a loss of power brakes and power steering.the vehicle finally decelerated on its own and began to sputter.there were no warning indicator lights present.the road conditions were dry.the vehicle was towed to the dealer, but they were unable to diagnose the cause of the failure.the vehicle was shipped to the manufacturer and the contact was issued case number 1-134-886339.the current and failure mileages were 600.

Check engine light came on and dealer said that it was a defective camshaft. Work on engine consisted of changing camshaft and rocker arms. Dealer said that he has seen this problem on a few other 2007 suzuki xl7s.the problem is rust on the interior of the engine caused by the manner in which they are shipped across canada. Apparently, a valve cover is left off so a bar code can be viewed while in transport. This may be a serious problem if the vehicle suddenly loses power and turns off due to rust.

Engine trouble light came on nov. 2009. Talked to dealership they said the light had to be on at time of comp. Diagnostic. Came on again in dec. 2009. Haddiagnostic done at dealer & independently, the code indicated a cylinder misfire. The dealership ordered parts, which took two months to get (feb. 2010). In the mean time the car was running with a cylinder misfire the whole time causing it to run hot, which created a large burn hole in the front exhaust pipe/converter assembly (which suzuki attributed to a poor engine ground). The dealership "fixed" the cylinder misfire by replacing some 34 internal parts associated with the camshaft or crank "tensioner and guide". Two months later (april 2010)the alternator mounting bolt and pulley assembly (recall nhtsa # 10v25000)both broke. That is where the dealership notice the hole in the front exhaust and attributed it to a "poor engine ground" when an independent firestone mechanic already told me that hole was a direct result of the engine running hot for so long due to the "cylinder misfire". Now here it is a year later and the same problem is present. I believe there is a manufacturing quality defect issue.

In 2007 we purchased a new 2007 xl7 suzuki. It now has 14,000 miles and is falling apart. First the luggage rack came loose- never had used it- i fixed this my self. Next the vanity mirror on the sun visor broke off. Now the drivers side door handle has falling off. All of this andevery couple of weeks the check engine light comes on for a few days then goes off- the gas cap is not loose ! for the cost this car retails for you think it would last more than 1 or 2 years.

Had to come to abrupt stop truck shut off and would not start for few minutes in middle of highway . This has happened twice so far.and sometimes when speeding up it smells like something is burning.theres other stuff but not too major as these are.

There are multiple issues with my 2007 xl-7. Most recently it's been the smell of burning wires coming from either the steering column or under the dashboard which i will need to get inspected asap. I read one other complaint posted on 2/29/12 stating the same problem of smelling burning wires which ended in the vehicle being engulfed in flames and the family running for their lives. I've already had a so called tune-up from the local dealer about 1 1/2 years ago, but i now have issues starting the vehicle when i get gas. I have to pump the gas pedal multiple times in order to start the suv and then it's a rough idle until i start driving. I get the oil change regularly, but was told on the last oil change that i needed a new oil pan gasket because oil was leaking from the pan. I've never heard of faulty brake calipers on a vehicle below 5 years of age as i bought my xl-7 new in 2007 and the brake inspection was between 2009 and 2010. My windshield wipers failed one year to the point where i now have a scratch on my windshield. I like the style of the xl-7 and its horse power and it' has not failed me on long road trips, but the recent issue and past issues are very troublesome. I'm very close to paying my suv off and no longer have the warranty so i have some decisions to make on whether i should invest the money or get rid of it. A recall on the electrical system should be implemented when considering all the past complaints. By the way, the dealer i purchased my xl-7 from no longer exists.

There's a recall for fuel leaks at fuel pump (lines crack). Was informed recall had been preformed already. So i guess they used another faulty fuel pump. So what can i do now? just got the car a little over a month ago. And could smell gas. Unknown exactly when it happened.

I was on my way to work on wednesday night and my truck started jerking and loosing power. So i had to have it towed to the place that i'm financing it from their mechanic checked it out and told me it was the battery.so i bought a battery. It ran good so i decided to take it a little bit further and it done the same thing so i took it back to them again yesterday they tell me that they are busy and they can't get to it until today. I've missed 3 days of work because of their false answers.i don't want to be stranded on the road or for my truck to catch on fire because they can't get it fixed like they suppose to if i can't get to work they can't get paid and they will be ready to repo it.

My vehicle had the initial issue of the gas leak one week after purchase.my heat stopped working in 2010 and now when the car is stopped for gas, it won't restart normally, have to twist the key in the ignition several times before the vehicle starts.the engine light stays on and no one seems to know how to get it off making it difficult to get my car inspected. Any recalls that would explain any of these issues?

Fuel pump defective. Fire hazard.

2007 suzuki xl7 awd.recall oil leaking in driveway, can result fire.it's a total mess oil leak in driveway!

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7. While driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle decelerated and the traction control indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who was unable to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an unknown service center where a diagnostic test was performed and the transmission was replaced; however, the failure recurred and the abs indicator illuminated. The dealer was not called. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that someone would call back. The contact was not called back. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 98,112.

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7. The contact stated that the transmission failed. The transmission had five drive gear options, but the gear became stuck in one of them and caused the transmission to fail. The dealer replaced the transmission with a used transmission, but the gear made a loud knocking noise, overheated, and leaked fluid. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 33,175.

Automatic transmission failed and water pump. Updated 08/16/2015

Timing chains are faulty in the 2007 suzuki xl-7 containing the gm 3.6l motor.need to issue recall. Very common problem with this engine. Engine could seize while in operation.

I'm the original owner of the2007 xl7. I purchased my vehicle in july of 07 and i have had nothing but problems and countless repairs. I have to drive my car alot with 5 active children so i'm out of warranty. The first issue started with the electrical system at about 50k miles the system would shut down and lock you in the car this was the computer that wasn't covered under the power train warranty so it was out of pocket cost of about 1100.00 dollars. I got the corp office to pay half after putting up a fuss. Then the check engine light came on right afterwards and have pretty much stayed on and it keeps telling me the gas cap is loose which it's not but i purchased another gas cap but still same issue. I then had problems with the power steering hard to turn and making a loud noise which was another out of pocket expense of about 500.00 and about 70k miles.my windshield wiper pump stopped working all the sudden. It would work on the back window but not the front and it has plenty of fluid in it. I have now issues with the timing chains and there are three different chains on the car and all will need to be replaced and this will cost another 2500.00 per the dealership and about 15 to 17 hours to fix. Overall this is the worst vehicle i have ever purchased and i regret it daily. The inside is made of cheap materials. My mirrors under the sunvisors fell of within the first two months of buying the vehicle. I wouldn't wish this nightmare on anyone. This vehicle isn't worth it and i'm paying for a vehicle that i don't feel safe for driving.

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7.the contact stated that she cannot shift the vehicle out of park.the vehicle was towed to the dealer twice, but the failure has occurred on three different occasions.during one instance, the tow truck driver had to open the shifter case in order to get the vehicle out of park.both the dealer and the computer diagnostic have been unable to duplicate the failure.the failure mileage was 18,000 and current mileage was 18,200.

I recently purchased a 2007 suzuki xl7 and at first i didn't notice that there was a problem with getting into the 3rd row because we didn't have a need to seat back there. But one day as i tried to recline the 2nd row seat to get to the 3rd row seating, the seat which is supposed to recline would not work. No matter how much i tried to pull on the lever that's supposed to release the seatit still wouldn't work. After lots of pushing on the seat and punching on it for about 5 mins., it finally reclined and my child was able to get to the 3rd row. After our trip, i tried to recline the seat so my child could get out but it was stuck again. There was no way that my child was able to get out of the 3rd row and because she's a teenager, there was no way she could climb over the seat in front of her or over the 3rd row seat to get out from the trunk. I thought there was a glitch with the seat and called the dealer to have it looked at. After which time the dealer called me back and said that the model has a tendency to do that. The dealer suggested that if it does happen again to just keep pulling and pushing on the recliner seat and it will eventually work. On numerous occasions it did the same thing. It has gotten to the point where we don't even sit back there for fear that the passenger will become trap. So, this is a concern to me because in case of an emergency there is no way that i would be able to get my child or passenger out of the 3rd row in time. I really would like someone to investigate this problem because the dealer knows of this problem but seem to look at it as a minor problem. In case of an emergency or accident, how is a person suppose to get out of the vehicle to avoid injuries? this is something i feel is serious and could potentially be life threatening.

Brakes is to hard and the tides and i can moveto drive and the check engine is on all the time and the lightstability control too

Vehicle was newly purchased in 2007 from suzuki dealership.grinding noise from steering wheel after 6months..told that it is rubber rubbing against rubber.engine light remains on after having a problem with starting car after fueling.constant problem with wheel alignment and tire wear.

The brakes of the car becomes hard and locks the car from moving. The dash board will show traction light on with the reading "traction control service / stability control service" the first incident happened september 2010. Miles covered 55391 . Matter taken with suzuki and the dealer. They said the brake pads wore out, so replaced the pads and the rotor for $536.00. The problem repeated but after 2 hrs brakes got released. The traction control and stability control switch was put off to avoid the danger of the vehicle getting auto braked in the middle of the highway. However the switch did not work and the problem repeated two times. Taken up with another dealer. They have stated that brakes and rotor need to be replaced with certain other kits for a price of $2100. Talking with suzukiand they stated that the vehicle is not under warranty. Hence, i have to pay for the repair. I fail to understand how can the brake pads lock the moving vehicle automatically. It is the most dangerous situation especially on highways. Someone please help.

I am the owner of a 2007 suzuki xl7 and have noticed a noise coming from the steering wheel. I researched this on the internet and found that dealerships are stating this is the steering rack problem. My vehicle currently has approximately 60k miles so it is out of warranty. I have owned several vehicles with high mileage and never had any steering issues. It is scary to think that i may be driving this vehicle with my son and something would happen to the steering all together. I really like the vehicle but suzuki should look into this before something tragic happens to someone. If i had alternative transportation i would use it but have to rely on this vehicle for everything. Until i can save enough money to pay for the repair there is no alternative but to drive it. The government can bail out banks but can't make a car company fix a potentially dangerous situation on a vehicle until someone is killed.

Hearing a noise in the steering, reported to dealership along with other service issues in feb. 2011..was told that something was going on with the power steering did not have repaired due to cost quoted at that time.... Reported again today -11/11/11 at dealership and am now told that the components in the steering gear are bad, and is not warrantied. Was also told that these components are not designed to go bad? well what caused it then, and if that's the case then why won't suzuki do something?? i was quoted a repair cost of $800!.cannot have repaired today due to the cost. I asked question if the manufacturer would assist with the cost, was told no. I see several other complaints regarding this same issue and nothing is being done by suzuki..is there a class action suit out there regarding this? what can we do to get one started. Or maybe this may fall under the lemon law?or was this ever a recall issue?very disappointed with suzuki, i purchased the vehicle brand new in 2007 and have not had any other major problems until this!. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

I am the original owner of a 2007 suzuki xl7. I bought my vehicle from talisman suzuki in houston back in september of 2007. Five months after i purchased the vehicle i began to have issues with the tire monitoring systems. A year later at50,000 miles i noticed that my vehicle was hard to steer, so i took it into the dealer. I have a 100, 000 mile bumper to bumper warranty but i was told that the power steering pump was leaking and that is what was causing the hard steering. I informed the dealer that my vehicle has never leaked power steering and too this day i have not added any power steering fluid and my power steering reservoir is full. I promised myself that i would never buy another suzuki because i am a faithful buyer, i have had nothing but suzuki's since i started purchasing vehicles in 1990. I was very disappointed in suzuki for not trying to solve this problem. I hope and pray that the vehicle does not lock while i am transporting my children . I contacted the marketing person and suzuki and they did not offer any solutions besides paying $1000 to get it fixed. Recently i took my vehicle to get an oil change and the mechanic there told me that it is a rack pinion issue and that i was not the first person with that problem on the suzuki xl7. The mechanic informed me that there was a recall of this issued becausehe has called the dealer for some of his clients and suzuki fixed there problem eventhough they refused in the beginning.

My 2007 suzuki xl7 (48,000 miles) has become very difficult to steer, which has also become a safety issue. Research has told me that, what seems to be a very similar, if not exact, problem exists with the 2006 model.suzuki apparently was not willing to fix the 2006 problem free of charge initially but in some cases, after multiple complaints, did.this steering problem should not be an issue on a car with 48,000.i will be calling suzuki and hopefully get some results before something serious occurs.

Check engine light came on in our car n was told it was timing chain tensioner n come to find out it just the cam shaft position sensor n our power steering is messed which u have to use all the muscles u can to turn it

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7. While the vehicle was stationary, the power steering malfunctioned. The contact stated that the power steering made a squeaking noise. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 78,180.

I have had multiple issues w/my 2007 suzuki xl7. However, the most concerning is the steering wheel problem. Not only have i had work done on the rack in 2008 but the noises have returned. Our local service station said that they could not duplicate the noise no matter what they tried. Yet, when i went to pick up my car i immediately heard the noise, went inside to grab a tech and made him ride w/me to hear the noise himself. He said that the noise was different from before and simply was a rubber seal that needed to be replaced. He said that it wasn't covered and "i was safe to drive w/it like this". I have multiple problems w/this vehicle that i'm now responsible for. I do not even know where to start in reference to what should be fixed first. Financially it is a burden and most definitely an irritant as i am making monthly payments on a vehicle that is in major negative equity! i hope for my children's sake that nothing major goes wrong in this vehicle while we are riding in it!

I purchased my xl7 new from shortline suzuki in 2009.it has 43,000 miles on it and it has developed a noise in the steering column,i had the dealership check the issue and was told the steering rack needed replacement,i have driven this vehicle for only 2 years!!this is a defect, not an isolated incident, as many have complained here and in the suzuki forums.i also have had water leak into the vehicle from the sun roof as reported by another owner.i cannot express how disappointed i am with the quality of this vehicle.i purchased new so i would not have spend time in the shop, yet i have had a myriad of issues.

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7 awd. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 mph the steering wheel suddenly became very difficult to turn. The owner noticed that there was no power steering fluid in the reservoir. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who advised him that he needed a power steering pump. The power steering pump was repaired; however, after driving the vehicle within a few miles, the failure occurred again. The manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.

My steering wheel on my 2007 suzuki xl7 has always made a little noise when turning, but in the past 6 mos.it sounds horrible and is more difficult to steer. Saw there was a recall on 06,could you please check on this and see if same problem. Dealership want help me. I read recall on 06 and mine sound like the same thing and im afraid it will get worse and cause me not to be able to steer it and have an accident...any recommendations? I was driving around the school, waiting to pick up my kids and when i attempted to turn the corner my steering locked up.i could hardly move the wheel and couldn't figure out what had happened.i thought i had something caught in my tires, which really scared me being near a school.i got out and didn't see anything, but when i got in and continued to drive, i couldn't steer well at all.after some time driving with this condition, i realized that i could steer better if i accelerated into the curve, but that doesn't seem very safe, especially on icy roads.my steering always had a little "growl" to it, but when this happened, it got much louder.i have read on this page and others that other suzuki xl7's have this same issue, there was even a recall on the 2006 model, but they are not helping on the 2007 model.this is extremely frustrating.it is a safety hazard and should be addressed.i have three kids that i need to drive around and i don't have money to keep sinking into this car.i had to replace the timing chain at 70,000 miles, which is also ridiculous.i continue to have electrical problems with this vehicle as well.at one point last year, my car turned off while driving 55 mph.i had to pull over and try to restart it.after a few minutes, it did start, but they couldn't recreate the problem or tell me what was wrong.my battery also keeps dying, the factory cd player thinks it has a cd in it and won't work, the temperature display is never correct, and the front tire pressure displays on the rear tires.not to mention that the oil change tech's rarely can figure out how to reset the indicator in this model.extremely poor design/parts.i can live with the inconvenience of the displays, but please do something to address this steering issue - it is not safe, and it is happening to lots of us!i will never buy another suzuki.

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7. The contact stated that while attempting to exit a parking space, the power steering assist failed. The contact stated that he could hardly steer the vehicle and would have to engage the accelerator pedal in order to regain some type of control over the steering. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the rack and pinion, and the power steering pump needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 58,000 and the current mileage was 70,500.

When i bought my 2007 suzuki xl 7 luxury, i was not aware of any problems. I did notice i was always running low of power steering fluid. My parking space was starting to show signs of a leak. I thought it was oil or something, but only to find out it's power steering. By the time i found this out my 36k miles were over. I've been researching, and there's other people with the power steering problem. It is getting worse and i hate to have it affect everything else. I have to fill up every month, and the squealing is terrible.the power steering was defective in the first place.

I purchased a 2007 suzuki xl7 brand new, i have owned the car aprx 2 1/2 years. The power steering started making a noise and i assumed the power steering pump was going out on the vehicle. Since i do alot of traveling the car is not under warranty. I had it checked out by a local mechanic and was told it was the rack and pinion that needed to replaced and would cost aprx $1000.00 but he could not get the part. I then called the local dealership and was told the part would cost aprx $600.00 but it was out of stock and on back order and they had no idea when it would be available. I then called suzuki corporation and was told the part was out of stock and on back order and they had no idea when it would be available. This has been going on for over a month and all i can get from anyone is the part is not available. The parts manager told me that a recall should be done because there was alot of trouble being reported. The suzuki rep has not helped any. I am paying for a car that does not need to be driven and the manufacturer cannot even supply the part that needs to be corrected.what if you are driving down the road and the steering either goes out or shuts down and someone is killed, what then maybe a recall. Who wants to pay for a vehicle that you can't even get a part for repairs. All vacation plans have had to go on hold not knowing if money can be refunded or what is going to happen if the manufacturer cannot get the part then what are you supposed to do to get repairs performed.

The contact owns a 2007 suzuki xl7.the contact stated that the steering wheel would become difficult to steer and at times, would exhibit an abnormal noise.the dealer diagnosed that the rack and pinion would need to be replaced.the manufacturer was notified, but denied any assistance with repair to the defect.the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage was 60,000.

Vehicle was newly purchased in 2007 from suzuki dealership.grinding noise from steering wheel after 6months..told that it is rubber rubbing against rubber.engine light remains on after having a problem with starting car after fueling.constant problem with wheel alignment and tire wear.

My 2007 suzuki xl7 was being serviced for approximately two weeks for engine trouble. The dealer called me and stated that during a test drive the steering had severely tightened up and was hard to drive. They called back and quoted the fix to be about $2800. The dealer stated they had seen this issue before and that there is a defect in the steering system for the xl7. They also told me that suzuki would not pick up any of the cost for this repair. I have researched online and found similar complaint from many 2007 xl7 owners and even saw that there was a recall for steering problems for the 2006 model year. Needless to say, i am very disapointed with suzuki and there lack of action on this matter.

The power steering went on the vehicle except when accelerating in turns. Took it to a garage where they replaced the pump. After just driving for 2 miles the problem came back. I researched the car on the web and noticed i am not alone with this problem. It sounds like that no matter what i get fixed for this problem it will just return in a short time later. It also sounds like suzuki will do nothing about it. How can this be allowed? how can this be safe? there are 80 complaints on here for a 2007 suzuki xl7 and 25% of them are for the power steering. I'm also afraid to drive my car now after reading the high amount of airbag defects. I am not a rich man. I have a wife and 3 kids and hardly any money. This is my only vehicle. If this is a government run website then how come nothing has been done about this? there should be a recall and suzuki should be paying for it. Sooner or later someone is going to get seriously injured from this problem. Is that what it takes for any action to get done? i'm pretty sure the lawsuit from an accident will cost more than just fixing all these vehicles. It's pretty sad that we are more worried about our relationship with a foreign country than a family that may lose a life or two because they are too cheap to fix their problem that everyone, including them, knows came directly from when the car was designed and built. It is very understandable that car parts break after awhile. When they are the same car parts on 25% of a certain model, it is very easy to see that something is wrong. What does it take to get a recall? 100% of people owning this vehicle to complain? all everyone is asking for is to please fix their vehicle so it runs like it should and show us some faith that the consumer is valued for once. Thank you for your time...even though i will probably hear nothing about this from anyone.

I purchased my 2007 x7 new from a dealership that closed within 6 months of the purchase (that should have told me something) fortunately, i haven't had any major issues since the purchase until recently. Thank goodness, because there are only 2 suzuki dealerships within 120 miles of me. Over the course of the last several months, the power steering has become very sluggish and difficult to turn, and makes a lot of noise whenever i turn. In reading the many other vehicle complaints, i see this is a common problem with this make and model. I've been to one of the 2 dealerships in all of houston, texas and was told it needs a new steering gear box, which would run about $800+ . This vehicle has about 68000 miles on it, and of course although it has an 80,000 power train warranty, and despite the fact that this appears to be a common problem with the xl7, suzuki will not cover this problem under this warranty. I hope the nhtsa will help represent the many suzuki owners who are being shafted by this company's apparent lack of concern for the safety and well being of it's customers. There should be an immediate recall of vehicles impacted by this issue. I will never buy a suzuki again!

The suzuki windshield is leaking and causing the car interior to mildew and mold the windshield is a recall item but what about the smell and health concerns breathing problems constant upper lung infections from a car defect this is a issue. Car can not be sold because of smell ???? money is not as big of concern as health of me and my family ??? suzuki should buy back or fix problem.

Takata recallfor my carrier bearing or my midship bearing where it mounts to the sheet metal is starting to crack and give out and cracking causing a lot of vibrations at slow speeds

After your have the suzuki xl 7 for a year or two, when it rain it will rain inside the vehicle on the passenger side near the airbag which you may not realize at first.

I have a 2007 xl-7 & the metal stem leading from tpms sensor in the tire just broke off which resulted in a blow out on the tire. Had i not have stopped or been traveling at a high rate of speed like on the interstate it could have caused an accident. Could you please look into whether or not this is an ongoing problem. I did some research & found several blogs of people reporting this to be a problem. Thanks for your help!

The chrome plating on the interior door handles have started to peel and caused a painful bleeding cut.

This vehicle has multuple problems including strongest odor of fuel, stability control and delivering fuel into the system as gas paddle pressed for moving/speed.thank you

My speedometer reads a different speed some times when i'm driving it will say 110 miles an hour when i'm driving only 30 miles per hour. Some times it will stick on at 55 miles per hour. Some times it just won't read at all while i'm driving it will be stuck in 0 miles per hour.

Speedometer will occationally work. Most times will stay at 0 and other times will work. I bought the truck like this so i don't know whwn it started.

Throttle sticks wide-open on 2007 suzuki xl7 under passing situations.

Traction control system comes on vehicle slows down and wheels stop spinning, braking system becomes stiff, there seems to be a change in motor sounds when this happens.this has to be a manufacturer defect in this vehicle.

I bought this vehicle and want to know if it was under a recall.

Water appears to be leaking from area around the sunroof. When it rains heavily or if i were to go through an automated carwash water pours in from around the sunroof areas into the car cabin from the ceiling, this has happened while the vehicle is stationary and being driven.

I bought by 2007suzuki xl7 in december 2006. Ever since that time i had many different problems. The main one being the windshield wipers. Whenever it rains/snow heavily, the wipers fail to work on the low and normal speed. In order for me to make them work, i have to put them on the high speed first and then shift the wipers down to the lower speed. When i went to the dealership to complain, they actually told me that there was some sort of recall on the wipers, so they went ahead and changed them. That never fixed the problem. On 5-10 more occasions, the wipers failed to work again. We brought the car in and explained the situation. The dealership couldn't duplicate the problem, so they wouldn't fix it. We came to find out that the wipers failed to work properly when there would be a significant amount of rain on the windshield. The wipers have not worked properly for another 6 months.

Randomly the "service passenger air bag" message is displayed and passenger air bag light goes on and off.service tire monitoring system message randomly displayed.
