Just purchased motorcycle, had over 15 incidents where the transmission either popped out of 2nd gear while in motion which has almost caused me to crash and also had the same bike jump into neutral between 3rd/4th gear and 4th/5th gear.this is way too scary on a motorcycle.contacted dealer, they told me that i would be responsible for paying the damage unless suzuki gets involved stating it's a manufacturer error.i always owned suzuki, this is the first problem ever.i am very scared to ride this motorcycle now and i can't afford to have it looked at.i just paid $10,000 for the [xxx] thing and i'm stuck.help!!![xxx]. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

2nd gear would slip.engine feels like is dying out when this happens. Have taken to bike shop, and was informed thatit was atransmission problem. Took to mc shop and dealer was not honoringwarranty for repairs. Charging to check engine & transmission for slippage.

When shifting into second gearmotorcycle cuts off and cuts right back on.dealer can't find solution.

When motorcycle is shifted into 2nd gear at about 7000 rpms , the motorcycle has failure while in gear...feels as if the bike is hitting something on the road.

Under acceleration, 2nd gear will rapidly jump in-and-out of gear, causing the motorcycle to be unsafe during normal operating conditions.

The transmission has no oiling to the 1-2 gear. Over time it overheats and spits out of 2nd gear. On a high performance motorcycle, this can be deadly. Please help us, the manufacutrer claims it is rider error, but we have over the internet contacted many owners all over the country that have had the problem.

2nd gear has gone out on my 2000 suzuki gsx-r750 motorcycle @ 5000 miles. I currently have just over 9k miles on it now. At least 45 % of the 2000 models have this problem and suzuki customer care denighs that there is a problem. Suzuki even changed the parts for the 2nd gear for the 2001 models and there has been no problem with those. Suzuki will not do a recall. This will cost me $1200 to get fixed at a dealership and i along with many others cannot afford this. This could very likely cause a person to wreak if the gear were to go out while turning cause the gear will skip and then grab causing the rear wheel to spin. Please adress this with suzuki america. Thank you.

Transmission is skipping in 2nd gear. Is gradually getting worse. This could cause a crash on a motorcycle of this type. I know of other people that have the same problem.

Second gear will continuosly engage and disengage while riding, this can be very dangerous on a motorcycle and it feels very unstable. This is due to unsufficient gearbox component/s that will deteriote over a small duration of mileage. Suzuki has updated part numbers already and are probably working on more, no technical service bulletins or recalls have been posted at this time. Hopefully it doesnt take a fatality or severe bodily injury lawsuit before this problem is corrected. If you have any more questions please call at daytime(636)891-2806 for more information.

While driving transmission jumps out of gear ,causing loss of vehiclecontrol. Please give any further details.

The transmission is skipping while accelerating in 2nd gear. On a motorcycle this could cause a lose of controle of the motorcycle.

Last week as i was riding my motorcycle, i noticed that in second gear the engine speed momentarily raced as if i had ridden through a puddle. (the road was dry) since then, there have been several times where i am accelerating in second gear and the engine speed momentarily jumps as if the tire is slipping.however, the road is dry and my chain is tight so it is most definitely the transmission that is slipping. Last night as i was again accelerating in second gear, the motorcycle began to jerk so badly that i nearly wrecked it. The transmission skipped so violently in second gear (maybe about ten times within a second or so) that the front tire was actually coming off of the ground when the transmission did catch. I quickly parked the motorcycle so i would not wreck it. Notice that it has only happened in second gear.. So far.

The 2nd gear is skipping. When the 2nd gear catches back the motorcycle lunges forward abruptly. This almost caused me to lose control of my motorcycle. I have been in contact of atleast 20 people with this same problem and the manufacture is denying it is a common problem.

The dealer has been great but i want to make sure other bikes are beening taken care off. No safety defect listed.

The motorcycle jumped out of 2nd gear on many occasions.this can cause potential serious injury to rider and passenger.

My 2000 suzuki gsxr750 motorcycle slips out of gear when it is second gear. This problem began when the motorcycle had less than 3,000 miles on it. I have not only found other consumers with this identical problem with their 2000 gsxr's personally, i have found many others nationally through research. I have inquired at multiple dealerships as well as suzuki about this problem and their responses were all the same. They cannot help me unless there is a recall.*nlm

The transmission is coming out of gear and skipping at any speed.please look into this problem as there have been many complaints. Motorcycle is dangerous to ride.

Pops out of 2nd gear during acceleration, which is extrememly dangerous. This happens very often. At least 4-5 times a day. I have spoken to over 30 other people with the same motorcycle that have the same problem.

This is the same problem other suzuki 2000 gsxr 750 owners have complained about. When i spoke to a suzuki representative about the problem, they denied the problem saying that it happens to all motorcycles. The fact is, suzuki changed the failing 2nd gear in their 2001 model gsxr 750. The 2nd gear on the 2000 model is a cast aluminum part, while the 2001 and above is a machined aluminum part. This makes it stronger. This should be recalled. On my bike, it felt as if i hit a bump in the road or that i hit the rev limiter, even though i was at around 8k rpms. Suzuki should be made accountable for their defect in craftsmanship. I have read cases where they refused to fix the problem even under warranty. This is a poor example of customer service. Suzuki knows there is a problem, but refuses to do anything about it. If there was not a problem and it happens to all motorcyles, then why would they replace the 2nd gear in the very next model year?based on what happens with my complaint to suzuki, it will be the last suzukii ever buy or recommend.

Second gear transmission failure

2nd gear would slip.engine feels like is dying out when this happens. Have taken to bike shop, and was informed thatit was atransmission problem. Took to mc shop and dealer was not honoringwarranty for repairs. Charging to check engine & transmission for slippage.

A lot of 2000 suzuki gsx-r750 motorcycles are having the 2nd gears go out of them due to a hollow shift shaft and the 2nd driven gear engagement dogs. Suzuki america will not admit to this problem. They revised these part #'s for the 2001 models and they do not have this issue. The revised part #'s are (shift shaft/25510-35f01) & (2nd driven gear engagement dogs/24321-35f01). I have had a case open with suzuki (case # 55970) for a long time now, and they refuse to fix it. This failed right after my warranty was up. If this were to fail on someone while in a turn it could cause them to wreak resulting in injuries or death. Please investigate this for a recall. I have vin #'s of a lot of other people who have had this issue if they have not already filed a complaint. Please get back with me via email. Thank you for your time.dt

Jumps out of 2nd gear under various throttle positions. Could cause loss of control of motorcyle especialy if in a turn.

The motorcycle will momentarily pop out of second gear.this is potentially deadly on a motorcycle.suzuki says they have no knowledge of the issus, and insist it's due to abuse.

Whentransmission is in second gearmotorcycle jumps out of second. Dealer has inspected the motorcycle.

Suzuki has had numerous complaints about this faulty 2nd gear and transmission and will do nothing about it.

Motorcycle is in the shop for the second time within a week after i got it out.there are many problems with the bike and its transmission/clutch.........please help, bike is deffective, and will bring a lawsuit if needed...sincerely mike simon.

Consumer states that while driving at any speed and no warning the vehicle will jerk and will slip into 2nd gear causing a vehicle accident. Dealer notifiedts

Transmission skipping in second gear, and intermittentlywould pop out of second gear. Dealer notified, and unable to get an appointment until approximately ten weeks or more. Please feel free to provide any further details.

Suzuki stated that theyhave no record of the parts being defective. I have found lots of other peaple who have had the same problems with their bikes on the internet. Allmost every one who i meet with a 2000 or newer model gsxr 750 or gsxr 1000 has had some trouble with the transmission.

At random intervals, the transmission will slip out of, then back into gear. This has happened on 1/2, 3/4 and 4/5 on my bike. 1/2 high rpm (12-14k) shifts are nearly impossible without it slipping back out of 2nd. The 2nd gear problem is the most severe, and my dealer will not service this under warranty. If it slips out of 2nd while i'm in a corner, it could cause loss of control.

The transmission jumps out of second gear. This occured at approximatley 800 miles, nearly causing me to crash. This also happend to a friend of mine who owns the same motorcycle. This occured on his bike at approximatley 700 miles. When we contacted suzuki they stated that it was rider era. Upon speaking to other owners of 2000 gsxr750y model motorcycles many have exprienced the same problem, also nearly causing them to crash.

Whenshaft is bend oil will leak, and oil could be seen onside oftire. Then, consumer did talk to manufacturer, and they could not help the situation. This happened without consumer knowingwhat could cause a major accident.
