In mid july my airbag warning light came on in my vehicle. I took it to my local suzuki dealership where i was told by an associate it would be atleast $1800.00 to resolve the issue. My vehicle wasn't even brought into the service department for a diagnostic. Unable to afford a repair of that magnitude i'm concerned for the safety of my family if the airbag system doesn't deploy in the event of an accident. Searching the internet i've noticed this issue is common with suzukis 05' and up. Mine being an 08' my warranty expired the same month about 2weeks earlier so they said there wasn't anyway around the $1800 charge. I believe this issue should be recalled so a basically new car doesn't have a faulty expensive and apparently extensive repair due within the 36,000 mile/3year warranty period. Please research this issue and contact suzuki motors about this issue.
While driving the air bag light was flashing and then it stay onits been on now for three days now
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza.the passenger front air bag misclassified an adult as a child. As a consequence in a situation that warrants the air bags may fail to deploy. The vehicle was taken to the dealership and she was informed that there were no problems with the seat or the sensor. The failure has not been remedied. The current and failure mileages were 18261.
The transmission range sensor went out the first time last year. Started to show an "x" over the gear when you shifted, it would kick, and it would not allow you toover 35mph even with your foot on the gas. We replaced the sensor in oct of 2011. It is now april 2012 and the sensor has gone out again. The air bag sensor light is constantly on. The dealership states that wire keeps getting shorted because of the location under the seat.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza.the contact stated while driving at 45 mph another vehicle crash into the contacts vehicle.during the crash none of the air bags deployed. Thecontact was taken to the emergency room for injuries suffer to the neck and back.during the crash the frame was damage and the engine moved. The contact feels the air bags should have deployed since the impact of the crash was severe.failure mileage was 16,000. Updated 3/24/10 updated 05/10/10
Bought vehicle approx 1 1/2yrs ago.it had about 26,000 miles.it now has approx 34,500 ad still has the suzuki warranty.i just had to replace a transmission rang senor and now being told codes b1382, b114, b1102, b1103, b1405 came on and needs replacement of diagnostic module and passenger airbags!!i feel this should be under warrantysince this is a huge safety issue!i am told it will cost $1400.00 and the airbags won't deploy until iget work done!i simply cannot afford this!!!this "sensor module" seems defective to me if all these problems keep arising.also the tire pressure sensor will not turn off since time of purchase.
The air bag sensor in the front passenger seat is no longer working.a warning light on the dash stays on stating the passenger-side air bag is off even when someone is sitting in the front passenger seat.
My airbag lite does not come out and this been happening for years.every time i tock it to the dealership they fixed it for couple of days and the light comes back on.
Air bag light came on in car. Had to take to dealer to reset. Wiring harness under the seat was faulty.
My check engine light came on and was put on machine and got a po700 and po705 which required a sensor which should not have been on a brand new car.from my understanding there have been a lot of problems with this and i don't understand why a recall has not been done on this because my warranty did not cover this do to not being inside the transmission due to suzuki's rules.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza.while driving approximately 35 mph, the contact rear ended another vehicle.the vehicle was completely destroyed and none of the air bags deployed.the contact was moderately injured due to impacting the steering column.a police report was filed.the contact has pictures of the incident.the manufacturer did not assist.the failure and current mileages were 3,000.
About every 3 to 4 months the airbag light goes off. This has been going on for over 4 years. The wiring under the passenger seat has to be redone and the airbag light reset. Is a safety hazard as at this point who knows if the airbag would deploy in an accident.
I have a 2008 forenza, my airbag light came on for the first time bout 3 or 4 wks ago after a day, it went off. Now yesterday nov. 18th its came on again an this time it doesn't go off. Now afew months ago i had to go to pugmire in marietta, for my seat belt problem, an they were real hateful, when they found out it was warranty. They shouldn't got mad or mean they still get pd for warranty. Can u help me out? it scares me to drive it like that. Thanks tina dillard

The airbag light seems to be on it just turned on without a reason, meaning that while i have a passenger they are not safe in the car because the airbag wont deploy in case of a car accident, yesterday sunday march ,26 i went to the grocery store and when i came back i put the car in reverse and it slammed really hard, the shift display had a light through it, and i had heard about people having the same problem, now this problem has been reported for the past 5 years since the vehicle was for sale, transmission range sensor, so right after the grocery store took it in to the mechanic for a 373,00 repair , now paying its not a matter but this vehicle is not even at half of its life and this problem its absurd, no airbag, transmission shifting crazy jeopardizing passengers in the vehicle. Please help, please make suzuki pay for their mistake at the manufacturing/ assembly and faulty products if their cars are not safe they should not be sold at all or they should be liable for their faulty vehicle parts .. Help help help!!!! please

Driver air bag light continually stays on.
I purchased this car used from carmax in october. Since then it has been in the shop 3 times for airbag lights. The airbag light has now been on for 2 months and i have not had time do get it fixed. The airbag light has been on since i purchased it, the seatbelt light also comes on frequently. This concerns me because the cars safety is so poor- with airbag system being deactivated and seatbelts being out of whack, this car is a death trap! i went to carmax to see if they could help me and the manager wouldn't even take my name.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact stated that the driver and the passenger side air bag warning lights illuminated. When the front passenger seat was occupied or not, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who reset the code more than once, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.
Passenger air bag light stays on when someone sits in passenger seat.
The transmission range sensor has gone out on the vehicle. I have spoken to many other owners suzuki vehicles and they to are having to replace transmission range sensors. Dealer service centers acknowledge that this part breaks often and they keep extra in stock. This issue will begin with causing vehicles to shift rough and end with vehicles not being able to shift out of or into park.the airbag and seat belt light will not go off. We have been told that it is the cushion sensor and will cost $1500 to replace. Again, after speaking with other suzuki car owners, they too have had todeal with this issue. Suzuki issued a recall for this issue for some vehicles but not vehicles that have been impacted have been recalled and owners are being charged to replace this defective part.suzuki has been made aware of these issues by other owners and have covered repair costs for a few, but have chosen not to issue a recall for all affected vehicles.
I was in an accident in which my car rear ended another vehicle that was broken down at night and i did not see.the car made impact on the front driver's side and according to the collision center, sustained 70% worth of damage.i was traveling approximately 35 mph when the accident occurred.the impact was enough so that the steering wheel was bent.i sustained head, face, neck, and knee injuries.no airbag deployed at any time.
Purchased the car on 2/12/2009.upon use, i found the vehicle's passenger airbag sensor to be defective.only passengers of 140+ pounds or so consistently trigger the sensor, which activates the airbag.for passengers who weigh less than 140 lbs, the airbag sensor is not triggered, thus the passenger airbag does not activate.i had three separate people from 100lb to 120lb sit in the car and the airbag did not activate for any of the three passengers.the owner's manual states that the sensor should be triggered by a passenger weighing 54 lb or more.i have gone to the suzuki dealership 2 times, made multiple calls to suzuki national, and applied for mediation through a suzuki sponsored program (which went nowhere).suzuki did not properly inspect the vehicle (180lb mechanic said since it works for him, its not defective), they no ignore my phone calls and said it is not broken and they will not repair or replace the sensor.my car is a significant safety risk to passengers.i have also found multiple people online, with the same car and problem, who also are receiving rude service from suzuki and have not had their problem repaired either.suzuki needs to repair this defective component or issue a recall.my car is unusable, and my next step is to go to court to attempt to recover the money i spent on this vehicle.
We have a 2008 suzuki forenza. The passenger air bag will not activate with someone of an appropriate weight sitting in the seat when the car is started. If the car is running when someone sits down sometimes it will go off. The car has been to the dealer 4- 5 times and they say there is nothing wrong. This is a major safety risk for the front seat passenger. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza.while driving 35 mph, the contact rear ended another vehicle.none of the air bags deployed.the driver received injuries to her chest, head, knee, and neck.the front sustained injuries to her chest, neck, head, and back.the contact believes that the vehicle was destroyed.a police report was filed.the vin and mileages were unknown.
****this is for an earlier complaint filed (odi#10261017) to correct an e-mail address.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact stated that while parked, smoke started to emit inside of the vehicle and flames emerged from under the left side of the steering column.the flames spread through the entire vehicle. The fire department extinguished the flames.the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic.the technician stated that the fire could have been caused by a wiring malfunction.the vehicle was not repaired or replaced.the manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 99,000.
The car was parked in the driveway. It spontaneously caught on fire, burning the entire dash on the drivers side. The car is a total loss. The car was not running at the time and had been sitting unoccupied for a couple of hours. The smoke from the electrical fire blackened the windows on the entire car. The speedometer and all other guages on the dash were completely melted and the dash burned all the way back to the firewall. It appears to have started in or right at the steering wheel.
Please help! my 2008 suzukiforenza : is giving so much problems,i told the dealership and they said nothing is wrong. With the car,but the light stay on all the time ,and i don't feel safe, can you help me?thank you for your help.
I have had the transmission range sensor replaced on my 2008 suzuki forenza twice already and it has malfunctioned again. When it malfunctions, my car jerks heavily when changing gears, and it is an automatic engine. The rpms will not exceed 3000, the check engine light comes on, and "hold" flashes in the dash. The car accelerates very slowly shudders above 50 mph. The speedometer has dropped to zero while i have been driving on the highway, so i cannot tell how fast i am going.
The car daytime running light module(drl module) burned and melted, lights were not working properly, the emergency brake light remained on,the dashboard, car had a burned smell so strong that i had to detail it and it did not go(the strong burning odor) away after 2 weeks. I took my car to the shop and repaired the problem out of my pocket(drl module). I sent all the proper documentation to suzuki motor of america cust svc department p.o. Box 1100 brea, ca 92822-1100, including the receipt of the repair, a copy of my driver license, copy of the registration, copy of the title of the vehicle(all documentation that they asked for in the safety recall notice), case and point they do not want to reimburse me, they are giving me a hard time, please help me because suzuki motor of america is going to find any excuse not to pay me back, because of this irresponsible behavior towards customers and the bad products they make are out of the market.
I was driving home from work and smoke starting to come inside the car from the driver side vents. I pulled over and let the smoke air out as i called a tow truck. On the tow truck at the pooler parkway exit off of i-16, the car alarm was going off, the lights were flashing, and the car was completely filled with smoke. The tow truck driver pulled over, ran to the car on the tow truck bed, opened the driver side door and saw flames engulfing the panel under the steering wheel. He grabbed the fire extinguisher and put out the fire and disconnected the battery. During this time, i was in the cab of the tow truck. Car was then considered a liability, therefor was not allowed at the tow truck yard or my apartment complex. The tow truck driver towed the car to dan vaden chevrolet, where i had been contacting them for two weeks regarding the part i got a notice on about the recall.
One day, when i put my car in reverse, it "clunked" into gear, the gear display was scrambled, and the check engine light came on. I shut my car off and started it again, thinking it was a fluke. The check engine light remained on and it also "clunked" into drive. When i went to accelerate, the rpm's were 5-10 higher than normal and it took a little longer to "get up and go." sometimes, my car will initially run fine until a few minutes into the drive, when it falls into neutral while driving, then goes back to drive, the check engine light comes on again, and the problems resurface. I took it to advanced auto parts and the machine said transmission control system but they said that could mean anything and would be fine to drive. After taken off the machine, the check engine light went off, only to come on again the next time i drove it. My brother (who has mechanical experience) cleaned the transmission sensor and filter, hoping it would help, but it didn't. As i go to a small town college three hours away from home and make a 3 minute drive to and from classes everyday, i let it be for the semester, insisting that it would eventually go away. Well, it's christmas and it never went away; each day i drive my car it presents me with the same problems. My brother took my car back to advanced auto parts and the machine read the same issues as before, plus a possible wire short. They didn't suggest any fixes so he checked for shorts in the wires and found none. It appears it must be the transmission range sensor. After reading up on the trs, it seems that this is an ongoing problem that many owners are experiencing as early as 30k miles on cars some bought new. I feel as though this issue has also caused other problems with my car (reduced gas mileage/battery failure) and is cause for a factory recall, as its appearance is widespread and the effects are numerous.
The door locks keep making a clicking noise even when the car is not started. Have to turn them off and on several times to make it stop but a few days later it happens again. I have 4 brand new tires and the tire sensor light keeps coming on. The front driver tire keeps losing air. Have had it checked and there is no leaks anywhere. They put air in and tire sensor light goes off but within 30 minutes the light comes back on.
The locks click as though the doors are locking and unlocking while idle or driving. The check engine light flashes. The airbag light was coming on and going off periodically until it finally just stayed on.
I just received a recall letter from suzuki concerning a fire possible starting in the lights....i am very concerned due to smelling a burning smell for a while now when i am driving ! ...i cannot afford a new car this is my only car what do i need to do? ...i have to drive two hours to work and back everyday does anyone know when suzuki will fix the problem?? thank you
Multiple times thetransmission thuds when shifting from park to reverse.dash display does not show "r" but has an "x" through it.turn car off and on about three times to try to get it to work properly.eventually works ok for a while.has happened multiple times.car is sluggish to drive after this happens and engine revs too high.check engine light comes on but goes off in a few days.transmission range sensor is bad.
Every time i change gears, my car thunks under the hood and my check engine light is continuously on.a machine was hooked up to my car and it reads that there is a bad transmission range sensor.i've done my research, and notice an unbelievable amount of complaints due to the same issue/part.when this happens in my vehicle, it drives very poorly and feels like it cannot shift into the correct gear.this is unsafe.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. While traveling 15 mph, the steering and the ignition seized and the vehicle stalled. The contact was unable to get the steering and ignition to release, but the brake pedal extended to the floor when the failure occurred. There was no warning prior to the failure. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the steering cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 91,000.
Transmission range switch, fails to shift down during acceleration, may work for a while and then makes a clunk and fails again, causes check engine light to glow and may show a box with a diagonal line through it where the d for drive would be.
My headlights all of a sudden stayed on even after the car had been turned off, and i felt a lot of heat coming from underneath the steering wheel on the left side; there was a small relay or module so hot you couldn't even touch it; i had to theheadlights fuse off and let it cool down. I proceeded to take the module off and unplug it, did some research and found out that there was a recall on this module called the dlr module. I contacted the dealer but even though they have the part in stock to fix and replace this module, they refused to take care of it, saying that they still didn't have the part to fix this issue and i would be contacted by mail when they did. They're willing to sell you the part but they won't replace it. They just don't want to take responsibility! i asked to have someone from customer service call me, but they haven't. I was lucky to find the root of the problem in time, otherwise it would had caught on fire. This issue needs to be addressed immediately. Please help.

The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, she heard a loud grinding sound coming from under the hood area. The brake and electrical system lights then illuminated as the vehicle became difficult to steer. The contact stopped and the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The technician stated that the engine serpentine belt was fractured and pulling the brake line out of the fire wall, spinning it around the brake line, the alternator pulley, and the steering rod. The electrical system harness was also fractured. The mechanic replaced the brake line and the engine drive belt. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 44,380.
The drl stayed on even after the car was parked and off. I just came home with my son and newborn thank god we were not in the car. The car started smoking which caused a fire. The fire department came out, investigated and looked up recalls and my car was on the list the same thing happened, on the left side. Now my car is ruined!i hope suzuki will be replacing my car!
As i was driving, the car all the sudden slipped into neutral and showed a d with a slash through it.i pulled over and tried to put the car in park.the vehicle displayed i was in reverse.when i put it in drive it read neutral. When i started driving again, there was no power, as if i was in neutral.this has continued since.then, i have almost been hit.numerous times, once almost hit from the front and the rear when turning on a yielding green light and the car through itself into neutral.also i have hit the gas in drive and gone backwards.i am very disappointed i have a 3 year old car with only 52,000 miles that is this dangerous for my two year old son and i.i have problems with this car daily.
2008 suzuki forenza.consumer writes in regards to vehicle stalls while driving.the consumer stated the vehicle would stall after driving 5-10 miles, once he started to slow down. The consumer was able to re-start the vehicle.also, the check engine light illuminated.
When shifting from park to reverse, the transmission thumps and the check engine light comes on.car will only drive sluggishly.goes away eventually, but has happened 3 times.looking on internet, it appears to be transmission range sensor.also, the brake shift interlock failed, and could not get the car out of park.used the over-ride hole to get car out of park.
My head lights were on dim, there was a flash and one light went out.about a mile later, the other head light went out.i had to run with my high beams on because i had no dim headlights.i received a recall letter that states that my car could be affected and i want this fixed!this car is my only way of going.
We were sent a safety recall notice dated 7/22/2014 stating there is a defect relating to abnormal operation of the high and/or low beam headlamps and the daytime running lamps. The notification states "recall service parts are not yet available to correct this condition. Providing repair parts is a top priority, however, their availability is not known at this time. Vehicle owners will be notified by mail when repair parts are available and scheduling appointments can then begin". It has been nearly one full year and no further communication from suzuki motor of america, inc. Has been received. In the meantime we are forced to operate a vehicle with "an increased risk of fire" and with the possibility that someone may not be able to properly see the vehicle due to the malfunctioning headlights. Millions of cars have been made with properly functioning headlights and daytime running lamps, this cannot possibly be that difficult of a repair to quickly engineer and implement. Is this unnecessary delay due to the fact that suzuki no longer sells vehicles in the u.s. And therefore no longer thinks it has the obligation to fulfill recall requirements?? any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Transmission range sensor failure.
Car headlight shut of on me while driving down road along with air conditioning and windows they all shut off on me while driving windows would not go down and i had to pull over near the nearest storeand cut car off thanks i turned it back on and they all srarted working accept the air that didnt start working again till about thirty mins latercar also jumps when pulling out of park in to drive or reverse really hard jump the car headlights also flicker when pressing windows buttons to go down tire sensor light wont go outcar also has a hard time accelerating going uphill u have press down all the way on gas for it to go

While car was moving, it unlocked twice, then stopped, then unlocked twice again. It kept repeating this over and over for about 10 minutes.

The contact took the vehicle to the auto-part store for a free computer diagnostic and two codes were produced from the diagnostic.the pedal position sensor and volt coalition.contact had 3 days prior went to said auto-part store with a dead battery. The battery was replaced by an auto-parts representative.contact has taken the negative cable loose and the positive second. Put positive back on first the negative. Insuring all contacts were clean of excess debris. 4 days later the check engine light has returned. So am taking to the local suzukidealership for repairs. The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza.since february of 2008, the contact has been experiencing issues with the sensors in her vehicle.the first sensor light issue was related to the check engine light.the dealer informed her that the failure was caused by the gas cap not being tightened.the second issued dealt with the air bag sensor light and tire pressure light.the dealer inspected the vehicle and stated that a fuse was causing the failures.the fuses were replaced four times since february of 2008; however, the contact is still experiencing issues with the sensor lights.the failure mileage was 44,585.

While sitting at a stop sign, i decided i was a little to far into the road. I shifted into reverse and noticed it shifted really hard. I put it into drive and pulled out onto the road - again it shifted hard. When trying to speed up, the car wouldn't shift out of 1st gear, the check engine light came on and i couldn't speed up. I've been told it is a bad transmission range sensor.

I noticed my car having difficulty accelerating and it would occasionally feel the engine jump while driving.the check engine light was on.i was going down the interstate when the engine shut itself off.luckily it turned itself back on and i was able to safely accelerate to speed.the shop said that it was the transmission range sensor and the transmission control sensor.a year ago the car was displaying funny symbols and would not start occasionally.again the same sensors had to be replaced.a third time the car check engine light came on and the car was again having difficulty accelerating.the acceleration issue and the light are intermittent, it has now again begun doing the engine "jump"it is scary being at a light and not being able to move.it is very scary stopping to turn left into my apartment complex and not knowing if my car will respond when i have a gap in traffic to turn.took it to a shop today to find out that the codes from the engine check light are again the transmission range sensor and the transmission control sensor.the car has under 65k and i have had these issues three times.i am thankful that it has not caused a major accident.
In less than 2 months, i've had to replace several parts of my car that i don't believe is part of regular service maintenance. Thermostat, coolant hose, spark plugs (twice in a year), brake lights and headlight bulbs (replaced twice in a year), transmission control module and motor mounts because of the tcm that made my car jerk all the time whenever i accelerate. Either at a traffic light or on the freeway, my car hesitates to accelerate and jerks every time i shift gears. Now, possibly the transmission range sensor needs to be replaced (i am currently in the process with this one). I'm afraid in the next few months, i'll be spending more on car repairs than the car is worth and it's only a 2008!
Car headlight shut of on me while driving down road along with air conditioning and windows they all shut off on me while driving windows would not go down and i had to pull over near the nearest storeand cut car off thanks i turned it back on and they all srarted working accept the air that didnt start working again till about thirty mins latercar also jumps when pulling out of park in to drive or reverse really hard jump the car headlights also flicker when pressing windows buttons to go down tire sensor light wont go outcar also has a hard time accelerating going uphill u have press down all the way on gas for it to go
Started car put it into reverse to back out, aloud "clunk" noise was maid and the car had trouble accelerating. Not it often slips into neutral while driving or will only accelerate in third.
"takata recall" gear shift keeps slipping and maybe the cause of needing a new transmission. Had to turn car off in middle of traffic because gear slipped. When car was in drive a symbol popped up with a d with a line though it! took it to o'reilly and put it on machine about 3weeks after the first time it happened and it read some codes about gear and transmission and an employee there said gear slipping could have been the cause of all the other problems!
The transmission range sensor on suzuki forenzas and other models has been shoddy at best. My car currently has 65000 miles on it and i have replaced the trs 3 times getting ready to be a 4th. This is not a sensor that should need replaced regularly. I have had the vehicle slip out of gear at speed due to this and can never accelerate when i need to. Im afraid that if i need to accelerate to avoid a collision i wont be able to. This is a safety hazard and nhtsa needs to investigate. They have more then enough complaints to see this is an issue and they need to act before someone gets killed.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the accelerator pedal was engaged and failed to respond as the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine wire harness and the engine control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 71,844.updated 6/11/15the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired by replacing the engine wire harness. Updated 7/16/2015
I bought the car from a dealership mccann car lot in sparta nc mccann told me it was the best car on the lot he drove me through town telling me there was no problem with the car then let me drive it a short distance insured me the car was in perfect condition when i drove the car home after we went to get inspected which nothing was checked junior mccann told them nothing was wrong the driver side headlight melted the cover now can't drive the car because the heater smells so bad i got sick from inhaled the odor i reported this to junior mccann his reply was i was smelling something he didn't smell my husband also smelled the odor and got bad headache he never once said there was a recall on this car
The check engine light came on when putting my car into reverse.the car would jump whenever putting it in reverse or drive.i had a scanner put on it and the codes came out to be the transmission range sensor.the check engine light will continue to go on and off depending on how much i drive it.i am being told this is not under the power train warranty.this needs to be as it is affecting the power train.
I am thinking our transmission range sensor went out on our 2008 suzuki forenza with over 70,000 miles.car check engine light was on for a few days, then turned off about 3 days ago, stopped at drug store, when i turned on the car, the check engine light was back on, put car in reverse and clunk, while the display where the r for reverse would have been was scrambled, car still reversed. Clunked into drive, and wouldn't switch out of 1st gear.
2008 suzuki forenza.consumer writes in regards to vehicle stalls while driving.the consumer stated the vehicle would stall after driving 5-10 miles, once he started to slow down. The consumer was able to re-start the vehicle.also, the check engine light illuminated.
I bought my car 3-29-09. At 4,000 mi. I began having problems. At 57,059 mi. 4-9-13 was the 18th time my car has been in for svc. I'm on my 3rd dealer (orig. Out of svc.) i am having my 3rd trans installed.can someone say "lemon law ?" 1st they could not find the problem as no codes were shown by the computer. My car at one point was at the dealer for 34 days straight! at times it would not even go into gear or would just die. I have had the tcm, ecm,& trans range switch replaced multiple times.since oct 2012have getting an intermittent ck eng light, i was finally able to bring it in on 3-29-13 & the ecm was replaced. On4-8-13 i was barely able to make it in to the shop as my car was stuck in 3rd gear and i was on the hwy the ck eng, light was on. It was the trans range switch again!it was just replaced oct 2012. Mon. Eve. The car would stall in neutral when in drive, slam into gear, the ck eng light remained lit, it was stuck in 3rd gear and the newest development was that as i was driving on the hwy, the lit d (drive) by the odometer was flashing normal & then with a line through it. I got to the dealer, pulled the code & the trans needs to be replaced again! i have absolutely had it with this car and am attempting to re-instate my arbi- tration with them (i dropped it when the supposedly fixed the prob.last yr). 14 of visits were major. Suzuki's tech explained to me that there is an engineering design flaw. My car is dangerous and i no longer want my life in suzuki's hands. I cannot continue to drive a care that can become faulty at any time, especially when i am driving 55-65 mph on the hwy and the car gets stuck in third gear! my husband has also had the engine die on him while driving.(i took a short video with my phone that shows the ck eng light on and the d flashing with a line through it.every time that the ck eng light comes on lately, it's a new code.
My transmission range sensor has been replaced twice, both within a 12 months time frame.both times my car jerks at low and high speeds and my engine light is invoked.the second time the dealership replaced my transmission range sensor...the very same week my vehicle is still experiencing the same exact issues, inclusive of my engine light coming on and staying on for 3 days.upon return, the dealership says my jerking, hard gear shifting and on board engine light is being caused due to an engine skipping issue, which is "possibly" due to the electronic control module not communicating with the transmission control module.i'll have to pay the dealership $210 to see if the connector between the ecm and the tcm is bad, and if its not bad, i still pay the $210, but then they'll tell me what the next possible step would be?? i feel i'm in a no win situation, it sounds like, just keep writing checks.my issue sounds the same as the countless others that have been documented, my issue should be covered since suzuki is more than aware that these are known issues.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact stated that while driving at 10 mph and approaching a stop sign, the vehicle accelerated independently causing the contact to loose control and crash into a wall. It was unknown if injuries were sustained or if a police report was filed. In addition, the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle continued to accelerate. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The vin was not available. Updated 4/6/15
I was driving down a busy street in stop and go traffic.while stopped at a stop light, my vehicle made a very loud "clunk" noise, lurched forward and the check engine light came on.when i attempted to accelerate after the light turned green, i had to push the gas pedal almost to the floor to get the vehicle to move forward.i pulled over and parked, turned the vehicle off, waited about a minute, turned the vehicle back on, and the problem had gone away although the check engine light was still on.a day or so later, while i was driving on the highway going approximately 65 miles per hour, the vehicle made the "clunk" noise, lurched forward and the check engine light came on again.this time, because i was already in motion, the rpms jumped up above 3000, which is very high for a 4 cylinder engine only going 65 miles per hour.again, i pulled over, turned the vehicle off, waited about a minute, turned the car on and was able to drive the vehicle normally again although the check engine light remained illuminated. This issue has been happening randomly about 20 times a year over the course of the last 2 1/2 - 3 years.
The car will not come up to speed when pulling into traffic.transmission jerks violently and car will not speed up to enter traffic safely.turn the car off service light goes away, back into traffic and same issue.car will not go to speed to enter traffic safely!
For a few weeks the car had been running a bit off--not really changing gears right-but nothing to raise serious alarm-clunked one time a week ago when slowing down.yesterday the engine light came on the car made a loud clunk and would not switch into gear.after turning the car off and on the engine light went of and the car was able to be drive.took it into the local auto parts store--they ran a trouble code which came back po700 and po705.we looked this up and it referred to the transmission range sensor---the auto part fellow said get it in now to be fixed. $200 later the car is now running acceptable again.the car mechanic was able to get the part in a couple hours because the warehouse said this part has an extremely high demand for it so they stock it. We had a long distance trip planned next week and this could have been disastrous to have completely lost the ability to drive or something else.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds, the vehicle would exhibit an unusual jerking sensation and a misfire. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be inspected and they informed her that she would need to have the catalytic converter replaced. The dealer was unable to repair the failure because part in stock. This failure recurred on an intermittent basis. The catalytic converter was replaced prior to the failure. The vehicle was not further repaired. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was approximately 42,400.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact stated that when shifting into drive with the brakes depressed, the engine would shift abnormally, causing the check engine warning light to illuminate. Neither the dealer nor manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who replaced the brake pads however, the failure persisted. The current mileage was 80,000 and the failure mileage was 73,000.
I have been getting service engine soon light on the dashboard. Then shortly after my battery needed to be replaced and i thought that was the problem. Well the next weekend the light came on and now when i switch gears i get a loud thump and the car jumps really hard. I went to advanced auto parts with the service engine light still on they were able to retrieve codes and verify the transmission range sensor a circuit while in park/reverse/nuetral and drive. And they also retrieved the transmission control sensor. I am scared to drive my car now and i will not drive it till it gets fixed. I have had transmission problems for the longest time and i am scared this car will cause an accident. It is a very unsafe car and i am concerned about the problem with the airbag not deploying due to many complaints. You need to do a recall on this car before someone gets badly injured or killed.

Thank you.
My head lights were on dim, there was a flash and one light went out.about a mile later, the other head light went out.i had to run with my high beams on because i had no dim headlights.i received a recall letter that states that my car could be affected and i want this fixed!this car is my only way of going.
Please help! my 2008 suzukiforenza : is giving so much problems,i told the dealership and they said nothing is wrong. With the car,but the light stay on all the time ,and i don't feel safe, can you help me?thank you for your help.

Tl contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. 4 days later the check engine light has returned.so am taking to the local suzuki dealership for repairs.contact hopes this will fix the problem by allowing the dealership to effect repairs. Update file 06/24/2012amended july 16 2012 tl contact had said part vacuum pedal position sensor and volt coalition replaced. Dealership stated said part had been modified by suzuki corp. (seems to acknowledge is a problem) and had 100% effective repair when modified part is replaced. Tl contact has not had a problem with check engine light since repair. Tl contact feels 700 plus dollars for repair is significant reason for investigation for recall and should have in lew of other tl contacts same problem. Should have full reimbursement of all monies spent in regard to said vacuum pedal position sensor and volt coalition

The locks click as though the doors are locking and unlocking while idle or driving. The check engine light flashes. The airbag light was coming on and going off periodically until it finally just stayed on.
Transmission regulation sensor - car jumping out of gear while driving. Dangerous very dangerous.
I turned on the car, when i put into reverse it clunked and the screen that usually says r just had scrambled letters going then when i put it into drive it clunked again and when i drive it like that it starts in 2nd so i have to put a lot of gas onto it then it won't switch into 3rd gear, and every time i take it to a mechanic the check engine light goes off and it works fine.
I started the car. Let it idle for a minute to bring the rpm down. I tried to shift it to reverse but it would not go. It had an engine warning light on. I shifted back to park and turned the car off. I let it set for a minute then restarted it. When i shifted again, it clunked and would barely move. I shifted to drive and it clunked and would barely move. I am a single 55 year old woman. I work 2 jobs and live 8 miles out of town. I can't afford to have this car down. I bought it because of the low mileage. It only has 39,000 miles.
After backing out of my driveway, i put my car into drive and felt a sudden jolt and the check engine light came on. I could not accelerate and barely reached 20 mph on a busy road. The check engine light remained on until i arrived at the dealership. When i turned my car off, the check engine light obviously went off, however it did not come back on when the mechanic turned the car on, neither did the car jolt when changing gears. I was notified that my "transmission range sensor" had internal failure and would need to be replaced. Although i have a 100,000 mile warranty on power train, this apparently is not covered because it is not an internal transmission problem. My issue is that it is a problem dealing with the transmission however it is not covered under warranty?
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact stated that there was smoke emitting from the vents in the vehicle. The transmission had begun slipped and would not stay in the drive gear. The vehicle also hesitated to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The check engine light had been illuminated since august 2010. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was unknown.
My family and iwere going down the road and there was a weird noise and the engine started to rev up and the speedometer was going down to 30 miles an hour, at the same time the rpm"s were going higher. I pulled to the side of the road because the shift gage on the instrument panel was flashing weird. It had a d with a line thru it. We had to shift it manually from 1st gear up to drive. It was scary since there was a truck with a trailer behind me coming up fast.it has done this to us twice in the last two weeks.i have seen that there are other people having the same problem or similar. Something should be done. When we have a warranty we still shouldn't have to pay a deductible for some problem with this brand car" power train and speed control sensors. Going out and needing to be replaced.
The contact owns 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact stated that the vehicle became unresponsive while attempting to accelerate from a traffic stop. The contact heard a loud bang as the vehicle began to roll away in reverse. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where the technician stated the transmission range sensor would need to replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 15,000.
Started car put it into reverse to back out, aloud "clunk" noise was maid and the car had trouble accelerating. Not it often slips into neutral while driving or will only accelerate in third.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact statedwhile driving at any speed, the vehicle would shift out of gear and fail to accelerate. The contact stated that the vehicle would pull in reverse, shift gears and would not return to the proper gear. The problem recurred three times. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Seems to be a common problem with this vehicle and other similar models going back 4 years.car hit 80000 miles and the trans range sensor went out.car goes into "limp mode" because the computer thinks there's something wrong with it, when the reality is a bad sensor not an actual mechanical problem.that and the problem is intermittent.sometimes occurs just as car is started and put in gear, and sometimes not at all.(check engine light goes off and on with each incident or new starting of the vehicle.) the safety issue is that because it is in limp mode, you cannot accelerate quickly and the car may even roll backwards on hills if you have to stop, as happened to me this morning while taking son to school, had to hold the brake and rev the (automatic!) engine until i felt it pulling to make it up the hill.can sometime stop and turn the car off, then back on and issue goes away.having a hard time believing that after 7 years of complaints a recall hasn't already been issued since this is an obvious blatant defect.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. While stopped at a red light, the vehicle lost power and the transmission icon illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was restarted and driven to the contact's residence. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.
Owner states that the check engine light comes on and loses power..car will go from drive to a different gear. This happened on numerous occasions (when at red lights..going uphill ( which is dangerous if there is a vehicle behind you) and regular driving. Took vehicle to transmission shop 6 times and after spending over 750.00 on range sensor and computer board problems...still having the same issues with check engine light..loss of power and gear slips.
The car will not come up to speed when pulling into traffic.transmission jerks violently and car will not speed up to enter traffic safely.turn the car off service light goes away, back into traffic and same issue.car will not go to speed to enter traffic safely!
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle began to decelerate and a warning light illuminated on the instrument panel displaying the drive symbol with a line across. This symbol indicated no drive. The contact stopped the vehicle and was able to restart it without failure. The warning light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic. The technician stated that the transmission range sensor would have to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.
While driving, car suddenly lost power, unable to accelerate or change gears on it's own, and when i shift from drive to park, it felt like my car got hit, a very hard "bang" and same when shifting from park to reverse or back to drive. Ck engine light appeared. After stopping and turning car off for aprx. 10 minutes then turning back on, light was still on, but now car was accelerating and changing gears. Got the car to the suzuki 112 dealership in medford, ny and they said codes po700 & po705 were present. They diagnosed a failed automatic transmission range sensor / switch assy. The service advisor told me this is a very common problem, and he replaces 4-6 of these per month between the forenza and reno model suzuki vehicles. Service advisor stated this is not covered under the power train warranty since this is just a component that is mounted to the transmission, not actually inside the transmission. $216.63 later, the dealership mechanic removed and replaced the part.note: this is the 2nd time i had this problem, but 1st time they couldn't diagnose as check engine light shut itself off before they got to check it out.
Transmission range sensor failure.
I have already replaced the transmission range sensor once in october of 2014 and it is acting up again now.when i am driving the car jerks when it is shifting gears and on a couple occasions it has just switched into neutral for no reason while the car is still in motion.the most recent time was on my home from workon 8/22/16.i had to pull over and stop and start my car a few times to reset the problem.the part should not have to be replaced every couple years.this is a safety hazard and this needs to be fixed by suzuki.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate as the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The vin was unavailable.
My 08 forenza hesitates during cold start up. No codes show. It has 58000 miles (timing belt due in a few thousand), 5 speed stick , driven 90 miles one way every 3 third day. It did die on the highway back in january '11 , cel came on, went into limp mode,i didn't shut down for fear of completely dying it was towed to dealer. Pulled codes p2106, p2110, and p0835 from computer. Dealer found nothing wrong other than codes. Since then hesitation has been getting worse. It doesn't seem to idle normally all that well even after driving for several hours (seems like tps is sticking runs around 2000 for about 15 seconds after coming to a stop).
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact stated that while at a complete stop, the vehicle erroneously slipped out of gear and jolted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the failure on several occasions. The dealer updated the computer but the failure continued. The manufacturer was notified.the approximate failure mileage was 7 and the current mileage was 60,000. The vin was unknown.
Transmission range sensor went bad, had it replaced multiple times since the first incident yet the issue continues.manufacture offers no solutions.aftermarket part are just as faulty.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact stated when driving at various speeds, the vehicle would fail to accelerate as the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 113,000.
I purchased this car new in 2/ 2009.i have had to have it into the shop for repairs of check engine light and transmission, ultimately leading to atransmission replacement on 7/17/12.it has been in the shop 14 times from 7/24/10 until the present most of which included the check engine light/and or the transmission failure, still today my car is in the shop because it won't reverse.the accident that occurred on 12/24/2012 could have possibly been avoided had i been able to reverse because as the car approached me i attempted to reverse when it failed.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza.the contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle started to hesitate as if it were attempting to stall. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the transmission range switch needed to be replaced. The contact had the dealer replace the transmission range switch four times, but the failure continued to recur. The contact stated that after the second repair, the manufacturer assisted with 100 percent of the repair costs. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 49,000 and the current mileage was 73,000.
Starting in january 2014 car had approximately 75,000 miles on it and began lurching into gear from stopped. When put into reverse, jumps into gear. When put into drive after backing out of driveway lurches forward starting in 3rd gear and continues during driving. Husband diagnosed after much online research and a few months later, even taking code into dealership for repair. Dealer insisted they couldn't replicate and cleared code without making note of problem. My husband argued that we wouldn't be picking car up until the problem was replicated and taken care of. After insisting they couldn't replicate, we drove back to dealership and made service manager ride with husband until car "performed" malfunction, literally a half of a block from dealership. It was obvious they were avoiding problem and hadn't driven car at all! code was noted as 0700, just as my husband had reported initially. Transmission sensor was replaced and after diagnostics were finally properly performed, airbag light was also reset (has continued to come on almost entire time we've owned the car-were told our daughters long legs were kicking wires underneath drivers' side seat) and also made aware voltage is too high on drivers side but nothing was done to fix either. Dealership offered no solution. Spent $191.65 to fix transmission sensor. Originally charging $260+ but husband demanded reduction in diagnostic price due to the fact we had to drive back into town to dealership to duplicate problem for incompetent/unwilling service department . Very unsatisfied and will be looking into options after seeing transmission range sensor seems to be ongoing epidemic for many 2008 suzuki forenza owners. Have also had ongoing problems with seat airbag sensor not working on front passenger's side since 2009.
This is not the first time this has occurred. I had been traveling home as normal, all of a sudden the car started jerking. Look down at my gear selection viewer and it was scrambled showing a d and a r overlapping each other flashing. This happens periodically causing the car to stall in the middle of traffic. I am not the first person to have the problem with this specific model of car. The events that occurred are very dangerous for myself and my family and whomever else this is affecting.
The "trans range switch" is causing my car to jump to 2 gear randomly. The car seems to run fine after o start it. And out of no were the engine jumps and the "engine light" comes on the car acts likes its not in 1st gear. It can't get it to go into gear (drive or reverse) without it jumping. Then after the car sits for a day it acts fine for the first trip and then it starts the same problem again afterwards. I can't go uphill either without it reaving high like its in neutral. I think this is the "trans range switch" going bad.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza.the contact stated that the vehicle would not accelerate over 20 mph and the check engine light would illuminate sporadically.a local mechanic diagnosed that the transmission range sensor was defective.the range sensor was replaced and the vehicle began to work normally.the dealer was contacted, but the contact was unable to have the dealer repair the failure due to distance.the manufacturer was not contacted.the failure mileage was 47,000 and the current mileage was 48,170.
When my suzuki forenza 2008 hit around 60,000 miles i started having sporadic transmission issues, including not being able to reverse properly, mechanical sounds when shifting gears, not able to accelerate when on drive, it was very stiff and difficult to accelerate, my brother has the same vehicle and had this exact same issue and it turned out it was the transmission range sensor. I took it to the dealer and it was the exact problem, i had to replace my transmission range sensor and i currently have an internal failure with my transmission and i do not plan on investing any more money towards this vehicle as i have read that many drivers have gone this route and absolutely regretted it because of the continuing problems with the transmission and other issues.
I have replaced the transmission range sensor in my 2008 suzuki forenza 3 times in the last year. Once at 95,000 miles, another at 101,000 miles, and now again at 109,000. I have attempted to contact suzuki to no avail. The second time the sensor went out, i was merging on the highway and was nearly hit by a semi truck and trailer because i could not accelerate properly. The 3rd incident was yesterday 10/16/2013, i was pulling out of a parking lot onto a main road, when the sensor decided to slip, it moved the transmission into a high gear, causing me to inch out of where i was at in the middle of the road. Luckily, i was not hit. I would like to see suzuki acknowledge the fact they need to do something about this issue. It appears to be a very common problem that multiple people are having online.
Had to replace the transmission range sensor. $140 fix between parts and labor. Of course it wasn't under the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.
The car will not shift correctly. Displays a scrambled message on the dash information console. Dangerous almost caused me to be struck and killed by a 18 wheeler. Something must be done by this. Is a serious problem.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 mph, the vehicle erroneously slipped out of gear and jolted. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was confirmed that the spark plugs, engine head gasket, and trans range sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the same failure on several occasions. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage was 45,500.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact was driving approximately 50 mph when the vehicle stalled as the contact down shifted. The engine rpm's then decreased abnormally low. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The failure mileage was 55,000.
The contact stated that while driving various speeds, the transmission independently shifted into neutral. The engine was turned off and restarted, however the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic numerous times. The transmission range sensor, head gasket and transmission were replaced at different times. In addition, the catalytic converter and coil pack were replaced. The failure continued after the repairs were performed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

Transmission range sensor failed causing vehicle to jump gear and rearend another vehicle causing 1800 dollars in damage to personal vehicle and unknown amount to vehicle that was hit. This sensor had previously been replaced by dealer 3 times prior to vehicle reaching 36,000 miles.after alot of research myself there seems to be alot of problems with this. This vehicle should be recalled for this transmission sensor before somebody get seriously hurt!
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a complete stop, the vehicle exhibited a delayed response. On a separate occasion the gear lever was shifted into drive and the transmission independently shifted into reverse. The vehicle was taken to a transmission center where the transmission range sensor was replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000. Updated 04/30/13*lj
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact stated that the transmission sensor switch failed. The failure caused the vehicle to jerk violently when shifted into reverse and back into drive. In addition, the vehicle was non-responsive to acceleration attempts.the vehicle was repaired. The current mileage was 60,000 and the failure mileage was not available.
Transmission range switch, fails to shift down during acceleration, may work for a while and then makes a clunk and fails again, causes check engine light to glow and may show a box with a diagonal line through it where the d for drive would be.
Coming home late night around 2ish, waiting at a redlight my car does a sudden jerk, the check engine light comes on and im in drive (foot on brake pedal) but in the dash the gear starts flashing and indicating i was in neutral but i wasn't. Light turns green i go to press down on the acceleration and my car seemed like it barely wanted to drive, as if it needed a push. I didn't drive my car for the whole weekend because i was paranoid. Took my car in that monday on october 22nd 2012 (they had it for 8days), got my car back assuming the problem was fixed, but here we are a month later, november 29th 2012 and my car it doing the same. I was driving maybe about 30pmh and i was coming to a stop at a light and my car did a soft jerk and the engine light came on. Went to turn into a parking lot once the light turned green and it seem as though my car didn't want to accelerate. So i turned off the car, waited for 10mins or so, turned it back on and the light was gone and my car was okay. I took my car in to my job, they informed me that it was the same problem, which is the gear sensor/ transmission range sensor. Im taking my car in again on monday dec 3rd to be fixed. I have had my car almost 4 years now, i still have a warranty as well and i just hit the 50,000mile mark. Im scared to drive it because i do not want anything to happen to me or other people driving on the road. So i pray the problem is fixed on monday. I have read many other reviews about the same problem and it blows my mind that so many people have the same problem and nothing has been done. I love my car so it really is a bummer that i am having this type of problem.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact stated that while he shifted gears he heard a noise and the gear shifter could not be released from second or third gear. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who advised that the transmission sensor was defective. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 70,884.
I've both my car back in september 2007 and in october 2008 i took my car to the suzuki dealership in wheaton maryland because the gear when put on reverse the car would jump and the dashboard would not go r for reverse it would blink both r and d and then when put on drive would drive on first gear. I was told that it was an electrical/sensor problem and they fix it. Started happening again late may 2014 every so often and by late june it was happening all the time.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact stated that while shifting gears, the vehicle lunged forward. The contact also stated that the vehicle erroneously shifted into neutral. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 111,000 and the current mileage was 111,027.
About once a week my car has an issue when shifting. When i shift into reverse i get a clunk. Then when i drive the car seems to be stuck in a high gear. The check engine light will go on. If i turn the car off and leave it off for 5 to 10 minutes it will be fine when i start it again. The engine light codes are p0700 and p0705. Upon doing research on this subject i found that this is the transmission range sensor that is failing. Suzuki will not fix this under the power train warranty which seems very wrong since this is part of the transmission. I have found a large number of people with the same problem. This is obviously a defective part that suzuki is doing nothing about.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact was driving 15 mph when the transmission failure light illuminated and the vehicle shifted to a higher gear independently. The failure recurred on four separate occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer confirmed that the transmission mode switch needed replacement. The manufacturer was contacted but the vehicle was not repaired. The vin was unknown. The failure and current mileages were 46,000.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact was driving approximately 20 mph when the vehicle would not accelerate as the check engine light illuminated.the contact stated the dealer was contacted and the transmission range switch was replaced, remedying the defect. The contact was unable to contact the manufacturer.the failure mileage was 100,000.
I was driving on the interstate and just passed a semi truck going about 65 mph and then my car suddenly switched gears into neutral on it's own.i was able to pull over to the side of the road safely and restart the car a couple times for it to reset and go back to normal.i was on my way to the dealership when this incident occurred.there had been an issue with the park/neutral switch previously in my car but this was the first time that the gear switched while i was driving and not when i first started the car and put it into gear.that had happened frequently when i started the car and put it in drive but it said it was in neutral but then after a couple restarts it would reset and work correctly for a little while before it happened again.once i replaced that switch i haven't been having any issues with it again so far.now i'm just dealing with the power locks sticking and locking on their own (the guy at the dealership mentioned that problem three years ago when i bought the car but only now am i having that issue) and also the driver's seat belt not staying fastened when i first click it.it finally does after jiggling it a little bit.
The tcm switch on my 2008 suzukiforenza was replaced in november of 2010 and was found by an authorized service center for suzuki as being defected.i was told that it caused the transmission to switch itself into neutral, which caused the car to fail attempts to accelerate at times.i had taken the car to the suzuki dealership where i purchased the car within 30 days of buying the car and complained about acceleration.i was told the was new and would take a little while for the parts to work out their newness.within the next two years this issue persisted and would cease to happen after taking the car in and being told there was no problem found.the issue seemed to go away and would return again within 90 days.i was even told that i was used to driving cars with better performance and my perception of how the car drives was the issue.it was only after going to different service centerthat i was told the tcms are often replaced but the failure to accelerate issue could also be the engine or transmission.failure to accelerate could happen after coming to a complete stop or acceleration above 40mph.the issue returned after having the tcm switch replaced within 90 days as it had done after each visit where i was told there was no problem found.the incidents were intermittent and if left past 90 days would increase in frequency.my latest visit was to the original dealership on 7/14/12 where i was told that no problems were found with the tcm switch. When asked to see the read out for the test, i was denied and given $1,500 in estimates to clean my engine and general maintenance that was due.the engine light came on this time, so, i could have errors read.i found out in september that the tcm switch is failing.this complaint is the first step to getting this addressed.
2008 suzuki forenza auto transmissioncode 7833 4 malfunction100,666 milescost $1300.00out of warranty by 666 miles service bulletin written in jan 2008for all suzuki transmissions to dealershad to replace tcm module at 55,000 miles for not shifting gears. What a joke that suzuki would help with $525 dollars of repair. Not full $1300.00 . This transmission is sealed and you can not service fluid levels unless you are a dealer no user level checks possible. They will only give a 12,000 mile or 12 month warranty only on clutches and drums replaced not total trans.
Suzuki forenza 2008 transmission problems with 34000 miles and the dealer says i have to change the transmission and the warranty does not cover repair, they told me that have three choices :new car,new transmission for $4000 dollars or 1600 dollars to repair it. Is just that?
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza.the contact stated that when driving at any speed, the vehicle would lunge forward and skip gears. The contact stated that the vehicle would act as if it were in limp mode and the check engine warning light was also illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure.the failure mileage was 36,000 and the current mileage was 39,300.
The car hesitates during cold start up. The car also jumps out of gear while i'm driving and has led to several near miss accidents where both me and my daughter could have been severely injured. Trying to get help from the american suzuki customer assistance is a joke. The customer service is bad and every time you call back to follow-up the person that was handling your case mysteriously quits. All they do is jerk you around until the basic warranty expires and you're no longer their problem. After this all repairs are out of pocket. I have taken my car to get repaired several times and each time they don't know what's wrong. I have had two new transmissions put in and my car only has 29,856 miles on it. I can't believe there hasn't been a recall on this vehicle; it is a safety hazard. I guess this is why suzuki was so quick to discontinue manufacturing this vehicle the same year it was produced. I want suzuki to take responsibility for this defective vehicle and either replace it or refund the purchase price of the car. I refuse to pass this problem on to another consumer. The dealerships clearly misrepresented the safety and quality of this vehicle. Its not fair that consumers are getting ripped off and no one seems to care!!
I have been complaining about the sensors in my 2008 suzuki forenza from the first week i bought it. There has been one problem after another and the warranty is bogus. This company has ripped off tons of consumers which is probably why they decided to not make this car anymore. I am now having problems with my transmission sensor which causes my car to jump out of gear while driving. The other day it did that and another car almost rear ended me in the back! what would have happened if they hadn't of stopped? me and my daughter could have been killed. I guess that's what suzuki is waiting on for someone to literally die before they will admit that the parts on these vehicles are defective and no matter how many times you have the problem fixed it will become faulty again. Im sure there have been complaints made to the company but noone ever calls you back or even acknowledges that your concerns are real. Most consumers either hurry up and unload this lemon or wind up spending thousands of dollar to keep it half way running. I refuse to pass this junk off for someone else to go through the headaches and heartache i have had and if its the last thing i do im going to out suzuki for the worst car company that they are. Their dealerships are ripoffs too. Something needs to be done about this blatant lying to consumers and then the horrible customer service after they have clearly sold you a lemon.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. While the vehicle was parked, the contact attempted to shift the gear selector into the drive position and an unknown warning indicator illuminated. The engine was turned and restarted. There were severalattempts before the gear shifted into drive. The vehicle was able to proceed properly without the illumination of the warning indicator. In addition, when driving the transmission would slip out of gear. The failure occurred intermittently. The dealer was notified of the failure and they advised that the problem could be related to the transmission range sensor. The manufacturer service warranty expired. The vehicle was not repaired or diagnosed. The failure mileage was 41,000. The vin was unavailable.
Sometimes the drivers seat belt comes unbuckled while i am driving even though i clearly heard a click when buckling it.sometimes it seems to come unbuckled almost every day and then it stops for a while.the occurrence is random but continuous, it has not stopped.
My car start and drive when i drove and then stop hard by itself like brake. I could not keep press gas when itself stop hard. On road.

Was traveling at a rate approximately 35 miles per hour vehicle in from of me stop abruptly. I hit them. Driver side fender, hood, bumper all smashed. In area where airbag sensor is, it should have deployed.car has been totaled.we too had issue with the flashing passenger airbag light took it to dealer they could not fix said it was temperamental on how you sit is seat.
Paint came off all door handles and wheel covers.
I had bought 4 kumho ecsta lx platinum tires size 195/55r 15...one blew up after not even 2000 miles, i had it repaired but i had to pay because they said it was maybe something on the road, then now after not even 14000 miles the other 3 need replaced because they are completely wore out, and the one that i replaced is already half way bad...very, very bad tires...my mechanic sent them back but we will see if we will get any credit.
The car will not shift correctly. Displays a scrambled message on the dash information console. Dangerous almost caused me to be struck and killed by a 18 wheeler. Something must be done by this. Is a serious problem.
When i came to a stop at a stop light the engine made a loud thunking noise and jerked.the display showed the letter "d" with a slash through it.when the light changed to green my car would not accelerate normally.i was finally able to get the car to move by revving the engine up to 4000 rpm and it slowly crept forward.the mechanic advised the transmission range sensor was bad and needed to be replaced.additionally the paint has chipped off on all the doors and 2 of the inside door handles have broken off.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle suddenly accelerated. The vehicle was then shifted into park in order to stop it and the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostics, where the technician stated that there was a failure with the transmission. The contact was unaware of the repairs that were performed. After the repairs, the failure occurred a second time. While driving approximately 5 mph and attempting to park, the engine revved up and the vehicle suddenly accelerated while the brake pedal was depressed. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a glass window. The vehicle came to a stop when the contact placed the gear shifter into park. There were no injuries. The police reported to the scene and a report was filed. The vehicle sustained damage to the front end and under carriage. The vehicle was taken to an auto body shop for an estimate of the repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000. Updated 10/04/11*lj
I noticed after purchasing the car with 40,000 miles on it after owing the car for 5 months i put the car it reverse and it made a loud clunk when it was shifting in gear and repeated the same noise when putting the car in drive. After putting the car in drive the car would not accelerate like it was not shifting into gear. The issue has persisted and i had my brother, a licensed mechanic look at the car and he determined that it is a sensor in the transmission causing the problem. The car will not shift into gear until it reaches 45mph until it shifts into gear the rpms will jump like the car is straining to get into gear. After researching the problem i have learned that a lot of suzuki owners have this same problem.
The contact owns a 2008 suzuki forenza. While drivingapproximately 40 mph the vehicle began to decelerate.the vehicle was pulled over and shut off.upon restart the vehicle operated as normal.the failure recurs approximately every 20 minutes in which the vehicle needs to be shut off and restart.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where she was informed the throttle body needed to be replaced.the vehicle was not repaired.the failure and current mileages were 51,094.

Thank you.
