Driving and on a turn between 35-40 mph my wrx freaked out. The dash light up like a christmas tree, the lane tracking along with the adaptive cruise control indicators flashed, and the dash said eyesight unavailable. It felt like i couldn't control the car and almost felt as if it accelerated on its own. I hit the breaks and the lost control of the vehicle and ended up in a ditch. The front of the car ran through brush and ended in front of a tree. The airbags deployed on the side but were delayed on the passenger side until the car stopped. My fiance was in the passenger seat. Front airbags did not go off even though it was a front collision. The car was on a country road with other traffic in front of it.

Had to replace the battery in 2019, really short life for a 2017 model.
Battery drained very quickly. Leaving car undriven for 5 days would result in dead battery. Took into dealership dec 2019 and they tested the battery, and found that battery was bad!and replaced the battery.
My tire is worn out after i purchase a car from carmax
The contact owns a 2017 subaru wrx. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the steering wheel seized, the contact stated that he then steer the wheel to the right, the steering wheel was ok, thenthe steering wheel became difficult to steer. The contact stated that hejerk the wheel a little bit to the right, the vehicle hit a pothole, the vehicle brushed a little of the godrail and run into cones and hit a concrete barrier, the vehicle came to a stop. The power steering warning light illuminated. The contact did not sustained injuries. The vehicle was able to drive normal. The vehicle was taken to subaru of wichita, 11610 e kellogg dr n, wichita, ks 67207, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle needed an alignment. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that while at a drive thru, the vehicle lost power, all the warning lights illuminated. The windshield wipers stop functioning. The contact called the same dealer and informed them of the failure and was advised to schedule an appointment for a diagnostic testing. Vehicle was not taken to the dealer due to the diagnostic and repaired fees. The contact also mention that the check engine warning light illuminated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Subwoofer and amp overheated during normal use causing wires to burn and melt causing a significant fire safety issue. This is seemingly similar to the issues that lead to a 2017 recall of almost 10,000 2015 model year wrxs
I had parked my car in front of my house and did not use it for 2 days. When i went to drive the car, it with not turn on. I had to call aaa to jump the car and i let it run for 30 minutes then drive it for the next 30 minutes. I parked the car again and 6 hours later went to go out and it would not start again. Called aaa again and had them come jump start the car. Both aaa mechanics said this is a problematic battery. I went to my subaru dealer in rye, ny and they said my battery is fine and i had a loose negative terminal. This was a lie and incorrect. The battery was first put it on 7/15/2019 and this was less than 2 years later that it died on me twice. I have service documents from the car dealer for the battery install and the recent service to check the battery as well as aaa to vouch for my calls to them.
At 57000 miles i was driving the car and heard a knocking noise almost making the car sound like a diesel engine. I towed the car to the dealership. It was diagnosed that the ringland went bad making the engine knock.
I have had the car multiple times idle hard then die both when stopped at stoplights and when coming to a stop. This is the cvt not the manual and i have contacted the dealer the first time it happened and they said "this is normal operation" which i don't think the car dying when i come to a stop is "normal operation".

Pampered 2017 subaru wrx, auto transmission, 61,545highway miles and proof of oil changes between 5,000 and 7,000 miles, synthetic 5-30. Car idling at stop light when tapping noise started and then oil light lite up but quickly went out. Pulled over to check oil and found oil level mid level in safe zone. Engine didn't burn or leak oil between oil changes. Giles subaru in lafayette la said the engine "must have been run low on oil."they believe it started with the #2 rod bearing going out. I've been a mechanic for the last 38 years, i check oil levels often. Short block replacement was $9,957.50. Repair took 31 days. Giles subaru also extends the powertrain warranty to lifetime if you prove proper oil changes and go in for an inspection every two years. Denied my claim for not coming for two year inspection. Subaru rated my 2.0 turbocharged engine at 268 horsepower with the 15.9 psi of boost. Research verified its the only car subaru uses this engine in. Subaru's crosstrek uses this 2.0 but as a non turbocharged engine rated at 152 hp. No other car in subaru's line up has that much horsepower rated per liter. Research shows subaru added a turbocharger to their 152 horsepower engine but did not upgrade the lubrication system to handle the higher stresses. Subaru has lubrication problems with other engines and has three class action suits now. I seen my automatic transmissions warranty was increased by subaru recently and demanded by a court to cover repairs past and future until 100,000 mile warranty. Not that they'll actually pay for it if it breaks or anything. They'll say you did something wrong. Shouldn't this be on the nhtsa website? subaru was demanded to notify the current owners of 2017 automatic transmissions but i haven't received anything. Is subaru practicing good business? is the government making sure they do business fairly?
Stalling. I have a 2017 subaru wrx cvt. I was at a red light and the car idled hard and stalled, again this is a cvt not a manual.
While operating vehicle on two different occasions car shut down and i had a very hard time steering and breaking vehicle.
Clutch on manual transmission has burned out twice in 13000 miles.dealer blames driver and is not looking hard for other causes.we are 100% positive this is not caused by driver error.have been stranded on highway twice in less than a year.
I was driving on the highway. I had the car in 6th grade. All of a sudden the dash display tells me i'm in 4th gear instead of 6th, and i didn't even touch anything. Then the tacometer started bouncing around and when i pushed the gas peddle, it sounded and felt like it was out of gear. All of a sudden smoke came pouring out from under the hood and into the car. So i pulled over immediately. Had a tow truck come get my car, and the clutch is fried! unknown what caused the problem. It had some this to me once before, but only the part where it told me on the dash that it was in a different gear than it was in. That time, i took it out of gear, put it back in, and it was fine. The time it broke down, taking it out of gear and putting it back in didn't do any good.
Bought the car and extended warranty from dealer used with 33k miles 11/21/19 a couple months after purchase i was getting onto the freeway after work (6am) and the rpms were going up but my speed was not. Car had 38k miles. I personally only had 4k milessince ownership and i wouldn't think the clutch was shot due being a regular manual driver. I use the vehicle to commute about 40-50 miles daily. 3/4/20 was the day i took it into the dealership. Dealer did nothing to help financially. Called soa and they told me they would help partially pay for the repair. 13k miles after the clutch replacement throw out bearing started chirping when clutch wasn't engaged. 2/26/2021 -after an oil change i notced a fluid on the bottom of my transmission and went online looking to see what was wrong. In my search for that i found subaru service bulletins and seen information that they had better parts that were available to install on 2015-18 wrxs. I was not offered any other options other than pay for replacement or drive it broken. After finding out that information i went to the dealership and was then informed that for the clutch parts, it's only for problems occurring in certain situations, and there's nothing they were going to do for me. As for the throw out bearing i was told if i brought it in within 12k miles from the replacement they could have fixed it, but since i'm at 53k miles(15k miles since replacement) once again, nothing. As for the fluid on the transmission they routed it to the cv axle and according to the paperwork it was deemed "acceptable" per subaru. I've owned a manual transmission vehicle since 2007 and never had any clutch issues that i've had with this car. And being told that squeeks and leaks are acceptable is extremely frustrating.
Started having a rattling noise while depressing the clutch in first and second gear. Took it in to the shop and they said throw out bearing went bad. Had it replaced in 5/12/2019. Same issue recurred a few months later. Took it in and they said it needed replacing again. Second repair was on 11/19/2019

Throw out bearing gave out twice at within few thousand miles in less than 1 year. Vehicle was less than 36,000 miles. Dealership repaired it twice. Symptom was rattling noise that resolved when clutch pedal was being pressed. Rattling noise present in gear and in neutral.
Throw out bearing has now gone out for the 3x. Subaru of america did everything to not replace under warranty.grind in 3rd gear not due to driver error.
Premature clutch failure. Tsb out on clutch but dealership will not preform repairs. Needs to be a full recall. Not caused by driver error.
Premature clutch failure and throw out bearing failure with less that 50000 miles
Driver seat cushioning has completely separated from the metal frame of the seatas well as the middle portion of the seat that is sat on has dropped and resting and the frame of the seat...very uncomfortable and hurts my back to sit in the seat. Also, suspension has become very rough over the smallestbumps. Mileage: 81,000
Emergency brake failure.while vehicle was parked emergency brake broke and vehicle rolled onto street causing accident. Have video of incident and can hear brake cable breaking.
The contact owns a 2017 subaru wrx. While driving 30 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to turn and was uncontrollable. The brake pedal was applied, but the vehicle failed to respond. As a result, the vehicle accelerated andcrashed into a ditch. The driver and passenger side air bags deployed and all the warning indicators flashed and illuminated on the instrument panel. Also, "eyesight" not available was displayed. The passenger sustained hand injuries, but medical attention was not received. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.
I have issues with surging, ac system, suspension, extreme tire wear, tires wear unevenly, steering assist, inability to align steering, windows roll down for no reason and won't roll back up unless you roll them all the way down and then up but they usually just roll back down half way again (it's a battle!) windows scratch just from dust so they look hazy and windshields cost almost $2000 with all safety camera junk. Only one aircon vent blows cold air while all others just blow air. This car was a lemon before 2018 ended. Subaru refused to acknowledge problems while under extended bumper to bumper warranty. I tried to file lemon law and lost because they didn't save my complaint visits in computer system. Im certain that was intentional since they are the lemon kings! subaru is a terrible company now and i recommend you don't own one. The surging is very dangerous as the car literally hops and sometimes you push accelerator and nothing happens for way too long. Dangerous when pulling into traffic. Fighting with windows while driving is also dangerous. Led lights are the wrong color so it's hard to see many things at night. The battery is junk open top and leaks acid everywhere rotting out the battery tray. For $42,000 you would expect a much better car.

I recently experienced a steering rack failure due to leaking seals on the gear assembly on my certified pre-owned 2017 subaru sti. The power steering failed to operate both in motion on the highway and at slow speeds in a parking lot and local streets.the loss of power steering assist makes it extremely difficult to safely control and change of direction for the vehicle. Based on my experience and that of many others i know in the subaru community this is a common failure point on the last two generations of these cars. I would like to know why subaru continues to ignore this potentially dangerous part failure and has done nothing to help owners like myself when the issue occurs.
3 years old car. Rust on weld spot in engine bay

The contact owns a 2017 subaru wrx. While driving at an unknown speed, an unusual noise was heard coming from the wheels without warning. The vehicle was taken to reeves subaru tampa (813-375-3660, located at 1111 n florida ave, tampa, fl 33612) where it was diagnosed that the bearings failed and needed to be replaced. The bearings were replaced, but the failure recurred. The same dealer replaced the bearings again, but the failure recurred. The dealer diagnosed that the failure was due to driver error and required the contact to be responsible for the repair cost. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and sided with the dealer. The vehicle was repaired at the owner's expense. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.
My windshield has been cracked.

The contact owns a 2017 subaru wrx. While making turns with the accelerator pedal depressed, the vehicle failed to move without warning. The accelerator pedal was pumped several times. A message displayed indicating that the accelerator pedal percentage increased to seventy five percent. The vehicle was taken to subaru of little rock (12121 colonel glenn rd, little rock, ar, 503-5454), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 32,000.
I parked my car in the driveway after work without a cracked windshield. I went to go to work in the morning with a cracked windshield. No impact marks.... It is as if my windshield spontaneously cracked while parked in 50 degree weather. What if something actually hits my windshield??? am i safe??? how often do i get to replace this defective design???
The side mirrors shake at highway speeds rendering them useless. I've worked with the dealership to fix the issue only to be told that they all do this. I then had the mirror assembly replaced but still have the same issue. This severely inhibits my vision while driving.
I went to start my car and discovered that my windshield cracked directly in the middle of the windshield, there isn't a chip or anything indicating that something hit the windshield. It was a u shaped crack directly in the middle. I have no recollection of anything ever hitting against the windshield, it seems to have just cracked on its own. Car was parked in a driveway prior to the crack appearing.
My tire is worn out after i purchase a car from carmax
