My daughter was driving with my granddaughter and was hit from the rear, totaling my 2019 subaru outback.both my daughter and granddaughter reported hitting the dashboard or the windshield.none of the airbags deployed and the driver's headrest ended up on the driver's lap.at the time of the accident, the front auto was about to start forward or had started forward when the signal light had just turned green..the police report is attached, with a letter from the meridian, idaho police department.my concerns are 1) should the airbags have deployed and 2) should the driver's headrest have detached from the seat?if the driver's contact info is needed, please let me know.

The contact owned a 2019 subaru outback.the contact stated while driving 55 mph, when another vehicle rear ended his vehicle and the engine seized. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. The contact stated his wife (seated at the front passenger seat) sustained 2 fractured ribs, 2 fractured vibrates and had surgery on her both lungs. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not drivable. The insurance deemed the vehicle a total loss. The vehicle was towed to tow lot. A dealer was not contacted.the manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.

Slowly pulling straight into parking spot at grocery store.applied brake when car suddenly accelerated. I was able to control steering, but brakes would not work. Steered car into empty parking spot in front of me then turned hard right to avoid hitting parked cars in row across. Subaru hit a pick up truck that was reversing out of a diagonal parking spot. The car didn't stop upon impact, instead both right side wheels climbed up the side of truck at an angle. Air bags didn't deploy on impact. This was a very dangerous situation. The acceleration was uncontrollable and i am afraid to drive the car.

Airbag warning light comes on when charging samsung galaxy note 9 phone with staples charger plugged into 12v socket. This is not only happening in my subaru. I rented a 2019 nissan pick up and the exact same thing happened. The questions that i have are: are the airbags still functional when the warning light comes on. Is it an issue with the samsung galaxy note 9. Is it an issue with a quick charger plugged into the 12v socket. Since it happened on 3 cars (2 different subarus, nissan truck), my assumption is the phone, charger or combination of the two. Happens when i plug the phone in, within a few minutes, i'm usually in motion. Doesn't matter city, highway, turning, etc.this has been happening regularly for some time.

On june 20th my front windshield began spontaneously cracking while sitting in driveway. A day later while driving on the interstate, the rearview mirror fell off windshield. Since the rearview mirror is essential for several electronic safety mechanisms to function properly, this means they were disabled and/or malfunctioning as well. After having the windshield replaced, the same thing happened about a month later (july 24, 2021) so now i have to replace it again. In both cases, the subaru service manager determined that there was no chipping or other external damage to the windshield.looking at customer forums & complaints, this appears to be a defective windshield problem that subaru is attempting to cover up.it has been going on since at least the 2015 model year. Please help.

Drove into the walgreen's parking lot, made several low speed turns to arrive at the west side of the building.pulled into an empty parking space.entered parking space at very low rate of speed and proceeded to brake to a full stop.moved shift lever with the intent to move transmission from drive to park and despite my foot still being on the brake, the car suddenly lurched forward, drove over the curb and sidewalk, crossed sidewalk and hit the side of the store (a brick wall).car bounced back to a midpoint of the sidewalk.engine was still running but car came to a full stop.i turned off the engine.two walgreen employees came out to see if i was ok (they heard the impact).i told them i was but later my chest hurt and i found a bruise suggesting impact with the steering wheel. Entire front of car is damaged. There were no warning notifications from the car (no parking or forward collision warnings). My right foot never left the brake pedal.the "unexpected acceleration" lunge forward occurred with the attempted shift of the transmission from drive to park. The transmission ended up being in neutral when the car finally stopped moving.floor mat was in the normal position, secured by the built-in pins, had not shifted and was not near the brake or accelerator (gas) pedal. Cruise control was not turned on.this was a routine trip to a local store.

Battery has died at least 6 times since april 2019.took to dealer twice and they said "cargo light was left on and drained the battery", another time "rear cargo door probably was ajar", they also said "perhaps it is not being driven enough" and "when the car is turned off the system is always looking forwifi signal so that might drain the battery too".i stopped taking it to dealer and recharged it on my own.dealer said they'd replace the battery but could only do it with the same size as the original.

In oct 2020 (12055 mi) and june 2021 (17059 mi) the battery drained overnight while parked in the garage. I was able to jump it the first time. Second time it had to be towed. Dealer replaced the battery both times.

The battery dies constantly. I've had it for just over a year and the battery has failed 4 times.

Battery drained while parked and had to be jumped less than two years after purchasing the vehicle. Also, rear tailgate is not opening properly.

Battery failed prematurely.vehicle purchased in december 2018.battery totally failed in february 2021 with only 22,576 miles on car.battery charged at repair shop.battery failed again and was replaced on march 15, 2021.battery failed again on april 29, 2021.subaru of oregon in medford service representative replaced the battery again.he said the battery put in on march 15 was faulty.had that battery tested at independent repair shop.the tests showed nothing was wrong with the previous battery.on june 15 had to recharge the battery again.concerned about being stranded due to battery failure.the outback must have an electrical issue that is draining the battery (per class action law suit amy burd, et al, v. Subaru of america case no 1:20-cv-03095, us district court, district of new jersey) subaru of medford denies problem

Battery dead.. Less than 6k miles and car only18 months old

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated that while driving 75 mph, the headlights failed to illuminate. The instrument panel also became inoperable. The contact pulled off the interstate and coasted to the side of the roadway to inspect the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted however, only running lights illuminated. The vehicle was turned off and restarted a second time. The contact stated that the high-beam and rear taillights illuminated however, the low-beams failed to operate as designed. The contact drove the vehicle to her residence with the high-beam headlight activated. The contact stated that after arriving to her residence, the vehicle was turned off and restarted and all the lights started working as designed. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 27,275.

Continued drain on the battery when the vehicle is shut off. Battery dead and had to be replaced. Vehicle was approximately 1.5 years old.

Since we purchased the car 6 months ago we would find the doors unlocked and occasionally the trunk gate ajar. The gate was found ajar this morning, and had apparently been so all night, and the battery is now dead. This seems like a serious malfunction of the electrical system in the car. The trunk opening at random has drained our battery and may lead to further issues in the future.

The battery continually dies on this vehicle. The first time it was just a few weeks after we purchased it, brand new.we've owned the car for about a year (and it only has around 6,000 miles) and the battery has died 4 to 5 times. Most times we can jump it or the dealership does. This time the battery is dead and cannot be jumped. The dealer refuses to look into this issue further, other than by recharging the battery. We're hoping to get it replaced this time.

Dec. 13, 2020 - sunday - 2nd time car would not startdrove car to grocery store.came out of store .. Car would not start.called roadside assist. Jump start my car.after jump start car, i drove car at least 1/2 hr to 45 min and came home, left the car running in the driveway for at least 45 mi . Send attached letter to manager of service. No response yet.

Since purchasing used, june 2020, the electrical system drained the battery dead. Battery was replaced the first time but it has occurred a second time since.

Not sure if itā€™s the battery itself or the alternator but the battery keeps draining and i have to keep calling to have the vehicle jump started.the vehicle is available for inspection and safety will be of concern if this continues to happen and i am out on the road somewhere remote. The dealer offered to test the battery but did not confirm the issue has occurred in other vehicles. There were no warning lights nor messages.

My 2019 outback has had 2 incidents where the battery was dead without an explanation.there are 24000 miles on it.the most recent incident occurred less than a week after the dealer serviced the vehicle.the service included a battery test and i was told it tested good.the car was parked in my home garage, and from all indications, no lights were left on, doors/tailgates open etc.this was confirmed when the subaru starlink roadside assistance provider came to jump the vehicle. Immediately after the vehicle was started, i took it to the dealer and requested a battery check.they showed the battery was good but deeply discharged, so left it on a charger for over an hour while i waited.in speaking to the service representative at the subaru dealer, i was told that on new cars, alternators no longer charge a battery, but simplymaintain the existing charge level.they claimed that a light or something of that nature was left on, a door left open, etc. I am certain this was not the case, as i keep all interior light switches in the off position, and once the vehicle was charged, no lights were on.also, no doors were open or ajar when this happened.i requested they check the electrical system to diagnose the cause of the battery drain, but they explained this would not be covered under warranty since the battery had tested ok.the dealer recommended that i keep a trickle charger on it when parked at home to prevent recurrences.i donā€™t feel this is an acceptable solution for a vehicle that is merely two years old with minimal miles and fully under warranty.while i was inconvenienced by this and had to arrange a ride to an appointment as a result, it did not create an immediate safety issue (this time). A similar set of circumstances occurred in late march of 2021 when i was out of town visiting a family member.at that time, i also was not able to determine a cause. Since that was the first occurrence, it didnā€™t create the same level of concern.

Battery dead, no electrical function from car

Brand new 2019 subaru outback experiences repeated parasitic battery drain leaving my stranded while traveling. Subaru roadside assistance states that there is most likely an electrical issue with the rear hatch but subaru refuses to acknowledge the issue. I have been stranded 5 times including once in a remote part of canada.

Dead battery if the cars sits parked 2 days. Nothing left on, it is a parasitic battery drain. Happened twice and battery was totally dead each time, needing to be fully recharged as it wouldn't take a jump. Less than 2000 miles on the car.

My battery has gone dead twice in the past 2 weeks leaving me stranded and needing to find someone to come jump start my car.

Battery on vehicle is constantly and consistently losing charge. Just replaced 2nd replacement battery. Vehicle has less the 5000 miles. Dealership installed remote starter that they stated was causing excess draw on battery so in november they disconnected it. Three months later, they just replaced 2nd battery.

Continuing problems with the battery being dead (five). The car has been in the shop twice and had the battery replaced both times. The service appointments occurred nov. 2019 and march 2021.

The electrical system drains the battery causing the vehicle not to start.has happened repeatedly, even after battery was replaced by dealer.

Car battery died approximately 7 months after receipt of the vehicle.no cause or drain was identified.car battery was replaced.then, same thing happened with no apparent cause of battery drain approximately 8 months after the car battery was replaced.concerned that some electrical issue is causing unexpected battery drain affecting the battery's life and that this is recurring and undiagnosed.

My vehicle has under 3000 miles and has had a frequent problem with the battery dying. The battery has already been replaced twice; once with an interstate battery from costco and once with an odyssey battery from batterymart.com. I continue to have problems witht he battery dying. The vehicle has been brought into the dealership for inspection and nothing could be found wrong.

While camping in a semi-remote location, our battery died, requiring a lengthy process to get a jump start. The only draw on the battery had been moderate use of the ljftgate the evening before. Additional expenses involved a hotel stay and purchase of a jump battery for peace of mind for the rest of our trip. We did have to use the jump battery during the next couple days to be able to start the car in the morning.

My car would not start (today, o5/14/2020), i had to call road assist, and person who jump started my car told me that there is a problem with this particular model, subaru outback 2019, for example today he had to jump start 3 cars exactly like mine (subaru outback 2019). He told that battery should not go bad this fast, that something is draining it and i should schedule appointment with dealership asap to fix the ongoing problem to avoid future hardship. I have 9800 miles on my car.

Battery dead with no explanation.cold outside (17 deg f), car not driven for 2 days before attempting to start.car was driven for about 4 hours on friday, would not start on monday.

Outback was purchased in june of 1919.in mid january of 2020 i had to have it jump started twice.took it to dealer. The vehilce milage was under 2000. They did a "parasite" check to look for electricle leaks.found none suggested i attach a battery tender in winter.so i did.as long as i keep the tender attached in the winter, the vehicle starts- so far.

Navigation system failure!i have 3200 miles on my 2019 outback and since day 1 have had problems using the nav system.the system freezes up completely causing everything not work radio back up camera etc.systems stays on at night draining battery.it sporadically works and works less and less every day had a dead battery already on a 2019 vehicle.

The battery has drained six times since april 15, 2021.available for inspection upon request.risk factors for safety:unable to get husband and mother to medical appointments; unable to leave residence for any reason; potential for stranding in unsafe areas.problem has been addressed with dealership who has not identified a specific problem, from june 11, 2021.no inspection by anyone other than service department at dealership who stated "inspected customer concern, found battery and charging system testing good, found no parasitic draw for power.found vehicle operating as designed (june 11, 2021).of course battery was charged after it was driven 60 miles to dealership!there have been no warnings of any kind.first of six failures occurred on april 15, 2021.

Within one year of owning my brand new 2019 subaru outback i have had to jumpstart it several times. After taking it to the dealer they are telling me there is problems with these batteries that they have a bad cell in them. So they said they will get me a newer and better battery, well almost one month later i noticed my car's battery started to act very very weak and i believe within a day or two i will need to have a jumped again to get it running within one year of owning my brand new 2019 subaru outback i have had to jumpstart it several times after taking it to the dealer they are telling me there is problems with these batteries that they have a bad selling them so they said they will get me a newer and better battery well almost one month later i noticed my car's battery started to act very very weak and i believe within a day or two i will need to have a jumped again to get it running. I bought my car brand new with 2 miles on it and i don't drive it a whole lot i am now at 3200 miles and i'm having battery issues. The car just turned one year old in may of 2020. This car spends most of the week in a garage and it is really only driven on the weekends but i should not have to have it jumped for only sitting a few days in the garage.

We started having battery issues in april 2020. I use the outback for work monday through friday, and i began to notice a weak battery after the weekend. I let it sit for three days, and when i tried to start it, it was dead. I put a charger on the battery, started right up the next day. I took it to work and later that day, ate lunch in the car. After listening to the radio for about 30 minutes, i started the car to run the ac. It had trouble starting, but i managed to start it and let it run for about 15 minutes. It was still a little sluggish starting after work, so i left it home and took a different car the next day. After taking a different vehicle to work, i tried to start it again, and again it was dead. Subaru roadside assistance would only pay for a tow for a certain number of miles to the dealership; it would have cost me over $100 to tow it back to the dealer. I put a new battery on it in may, and so far have not had anymore issues with it starting.

The car battery keeps dying after being parked for only a few days.the 2019 outback has only 10,000 miles on it.we've double and triple checked to make sure that no interior lights or other electrical equipment are left on when parked, and that no doors are left ajar.we've had to jump start it each time. This dead battery problem is apparently not uncommon for 2016-2020 outbacks and the cause is unknown.subaru has no solution for it other than to replace the battery as a temporary fix.

Battery needed to be replaced at 17,600 miles. Would not hold charge after multiple attempts to jump start. Towed to dealer and was told 'they see this sometimes.. Must be due to vehicles sitting around prior to being sold'.

Repeated incidences of battery going dead on 2019 subaru outback. After 5 times of having to jump the battery to start vehicle, i had to purchase a battery booster to keep in the car. At first visit to my subaru dealership, a completely dead battery was found and replaced under warranty. Battery continued to die, sometimes after being in the garage for up to one week [when a boost was required], and once after a 76 mile highway trip, it was dead again after one full day parked. There have been 2-3 occasions when it seems to be related to operation of the liftgate. Liftgate becomes inoperative and must be manually opened and recycled and battery jumped for engine start. A second visit to the dealership determined all in working condition after a full diagnostic check. Car is working normally at this time, one week after dealership checkout. As this seems to be a frequent issue with other subaru owners, i am carrying my battery booster on board at all times. This seems to be a known issue [by subaru] for 2017-2019 models. Otherwise, i love the outback, but this annoying issue is disconcerting, to say the least.

The car repeatedly drains the battery for no obvious reason, leaving us stranded with a vehicle that cannot even be jumped to start. The battery is so dead i can't even get the doors open. It has stranded me at home, and various times when i've been out doing errands. It's a safety issue when you're a single woman stranded somewhere in the dark.i've had to call subaru service to jump the car once, have jumped it three times myself at home, once at the grocery store, and have had to place a totally dead battery on the charger at home six times.it was already taken in for repair twice to the dealer in san luis obispo, ca,and they "found nothing wrong". But, now it's completely and utterly dead in my driveway again, after just driving it on the freeway for two hours four days ago.

In 2019the battery on the vehicle drained while on a camping trip to the desert, which left us stranded.we got it jumped and drove home.subaru dealer said that they would install new computer software to fix.in 2021, we took car to subaru for 36k checkup. They said the battery needed to be replaced.we are worried about being straned again if we go to remote destinations.this is a safety issue.

Rear hatch door being opened drained battery to the point where the car had to be jump started.the rear hatch was only open for about five hours with no lights or electrical systems on.i have not been able to use the vehicle without jump starting it until a new battery was installed.vehicle has only 30,000 miles.

Car would not start or turn over.battery was dead.i called subaru and a person came over to jump my vehicle.i left it running for 30 minutes to recharge the battery.this happened two times in the last few years but i never reported it to subaru, and had my neighbor hook his car up for a jump.also note the gps has locked up several times in the past and not worked until i shut the car off and restarted everything.i just kept getting the arrow going in the circle.

Battery failed after 11k miles.had to be replaced by aaa when stranded with daughter.have had starting issues with the car since i got it where it won't turn over.i normally turn off car then lick and unlock and try again.normally started after several tries.subaru chalked this up to software at maintenance.

Dead battery.

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated that on the multiple occasions the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was jump started and operated as intended. The vehicle was taken to beardmore subaru (410 fort crook rd n, bellevue, ne 68005) where the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective battery. The contact had the battery replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. The vin was unavailable.

I requested many times to have our car checked for nhsta campaign : 19v493000. The dealership said our car was not included in that case. Our lane assist was too aggressive from the first day we drove the car. The dealership said the steering was speed sensitive and we were driving too fast. We explained that we could not keep the car in the lane when driving over 40 mph. In the first 24 months we carried the car to the dealership 20 to 30 times for the unsafe steering issue. Twenty four months later we had a rock chip the windshield and the chip ran into 3 cracks each over 8 inches long that afternoon while the car was in our home garage. After we paid a $500.00 deductible and the dealership replaced the windshield , the car drove better. The battery has been replaced three times, the fuel pump replaced, all the sensors on the tail gate have been, the passenger side window would stick 1/2 up, and many other problems. A scan of the car shows 10 modules failed with many active codes. The codes are the same as before the third battery was installed. Many of the codes are safety issues.

Car battery has failed no less than three times. Upon failure, car is completely inoperable. Used subaru roadside assistance to jump the car. The battery has drained on more than one occasion. No inspections. No warnings or prior symptoms before the dead battery. Available for inspection upon request.

Unknown...my battery has need a jump several time without any electricals left on.the dealer did check it out and found nothing wrong. I also havelights that go on intermittently n the dash saying that certain things are not working. Ie front crash detection, blind spot warning and lane departure.

Battery failed and will not recharge. Had to replace it. Outback is only 27 months old. Failed after short trip to library. Had to have it jumped to get home.

Battery will not hold a charge even after replaced 3 times by the factory

Frequent problems with car starting due to run down battery. We have had battery related service calls from aaa on 7/29/19, 5/23/20, 6/4/20, 12/2/20, 1/23/21, and 2/10/21. Today (2/19/21) the car only started on the third attempt after pumping the gas a bit. We did not call aaa but made an appointment with the subaru dealer. This will not be our first appointment with them. Previous appointments with dealer related to difficulty starting car were on 6/9/20 (when battery was replaced), 12/22/20, and 1/15/21. We have also had replacement of a fuel pump that was the subject of a recall, replacement of power steering gear box, and a brake issue. All of the above were when car was on warranty, as it is still is as of this writing. The car currently has about 15,500 miles on it.

My 2019 subaru outback battery has died multiple times on me. I previously had a 2017 subaru outback and had no issues at all with the battery. The first time the battery died, my neighbor was able to jump start the battery. It has happened 4 more times and had to contact subaru roadside assistance to get my battery jumpstarted. It seems that the electrical problem is with the liftgate. A couple of times i've come out to start my car and the liftgate is up, battery is dead. The liftgate also mysteriously opened on me once during a roadtrip to gatlinburg with my vehicle locked. Other times when the liftgate is closed and battery is dead, after jumpstarting, i can hear the car try to pull the tailgate tight like it thought the tailgate was open. The last time that i had my battery jumped, i was outside the car. As soon as the charger was connected to the battery, all the interior lights and radio came on. (instrument panel, dome lights, etc.) all the doors were shut, and i had not pushed a button to get this to occur. That, to me, definitely points out an electrical issue.from what i've seen on the internet, it seems that subaru has an issue where the computer continually sends a request to the tailgate to ensure that it is closed. This seems to be what is killing the battery. There have been campers stranded with a dead battery due to tailgate open and tent attached to the car. This seems to contradict subaru outback's build for outdoor adventure.i've contacted romain subaru in evansville multiple times about this issue, and they can't even find my name in their records, claiming that my vin belongs to someone else. It's really odd because i've purchased 3 vehicles from them. I've yet to get them to address the issue. I don't want them to replace the battery since this will not resolve the issue.

Second time battery was drained.alternator is ok.it is driven every week including highway miles.dealership says there are no issues with the car.it had been parked in driveway 1 1/2 days.previously had a problem with radio changing volume by it self and horn honking without touching the center of driving wheel.

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked in the driveway, the battery drained, causing the electrical system to become inoperable. The contact stated that the failure recurred eight times. Roadside assistance was called out to jump start the vehicle. The contact stated that it was impossible to enter the vehicle when the battery was drained. The manufacturer was notified of the failure each time. Grand junction subaru (651 market st, grand junction, co 81505, 970-208-0110) was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the vin was not under recall. The battery was replaced several times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 2,013.

The battery in our brand new 2019 subaru outback kept on being drained after moderate usage. Twice it was from leaving the hatch up for a couple of hours, once we were driving out in the country and parked to look at the scenery briefly and the battery died leaving us stuck out in the middle of nowhere. It didn't feel safe to be out there as night was approaching and we were waiting for a tow truck.all in all had to call subaru roadside assistance and have the battery jumped on three or four separate occasions. Because of this we bought a portable battery charger to keep in the car at all times because we were afraid of getting stuck with a dead battery. We ended up needing to use that battery charger on about 3 different occasions. Eventually the electrical system started acting very erratic with spontaneous alarms, loud chirping sounds and door locks so we took it in to southern oregon subaru who replaced the battery for us. Changing the battery seemed to fix all of the problems. That was in february 2021. The battery had a 30 month warranty. This week on june 1,2021 we came back from vacation where we had left the subaru safely parked in our driveway. It would not start when we returned. We only have 1 vehicle so this was very inconvenient for us.the battery was dead. We tried to charge it with our battery charger but the battery was just too dead to take a charge. So, we had one night without a vehicle. We called subaru roadside assistance and they sent out a tow truck driver who could not get the battery jumped because it was so dead it just would not start. That was our second night without a vehicle. The next afternoon subaru roadside service sent out another towbtruck driver who had a more powerful battery charger and he was able to get the battery to start. We drove the subaru outback to southern oregon subaru and they are working on it now.

Battery's keep discharging.in dealership for the second time with dead battery.last battery is only 1.3 mets old. Dealership says to have car towed and not charge battery so they can troubleshoot problem.read about the class action lawsuit and to contact nthsa.

Electrical system problems causing battery drain.after jumping the battery observed flickering, eyesight system turning on and off while driving.rear lift gate wonā€™t open

Vehicle did not start due to dead battery.this vehicle has been returned to the dealership on three separate dates due to the same issue.on 12/14/20 the car would not start we charged the battery and got it to the dealership. They charged the battery and said they could not find anything wrong and we drove it home.on 1/18/21 we could not start the car we charged the battery and took it back to the dealership. They said they could not find anything wrong but for our peace of mind they replaced the battery sensor and kept the car for several days to start it and drive it around to try and recreate the issue.they could not recreate the problem.on 3/6/21 the car did not start and was towed to the dealership. The dealership inspected the battery and the battery failed the load test. Battery was replaced.we expressed concern that they were fixing the symptom and not the problem, we also discussed erratic behavior with the rear gate all three times these issues have occurred. The dealership then decided to replace the power rear gate ecu and latch & actuator rear gate. After researching this problem we have discovered this is an issue with the same model and year of subaru vehicle as ours and subaru has not done anything to address the actual problem. We are concerned that this issue will continue and we don't feel we can safely drive our car far from home because of its unreliability and potentially putting us in dangerous situations .the mileage on the car is 8800 and it is a 2019 model.

I received a 2019 subaru outback on 15 july 2021.the vehicle was sold by a dealer, and gone through the subaru vehicle certification process, which includes checking the electrical system.i kept the vehicle off the road while i got the vehicle registered and insured, running it for a few minutes every three days.i planned to take the first road trip on 26 july 2021, after the paperwork had been completed.the vehicle would not start, and no power was available for electrical components.checking the battery with a multimeter indicated voltage had dropped to 4v.i contacted the selling dealership, and they indicated they would pay to replace the discharged battery.

Purchased car in dec 2020 and battery has drained twice and needed to be jumped just from having doors open to pack and clean the vehicle.

Battery drains and is dead after a couple of days if not started or driven

Window slow/stop going up on driver side door, audio system was having loud popping noise, system that is supposed to tell you when how close you are to another car/automatically break- turns off on own/says no sight camera.

Vehicle has been dead on 4+ occasions. Stationary, in garage. Vehicle is driven as little as once per week at times but the battery or electric draw has caused the car to fail in as little as a couple days or even trunk being open for 15-20min. I've had to tow this vehicle 3times for service. Dealer is brushing this off without responsibility. Saying the car has to be driven for more than 20minutes to receive full charge. Also, the vehicle has a number of electronics that require the vehicle to be driven more. They refuse to replace the battery unless it checks bad. The issue is an electrical draw. Most likely seems related to the rear hatch. Battery should be replaced with a larger capacity and these vehicles should be recalled and diagnosed for electrical draw failures.

The electric passenger side window was going up and down on its own while i was driving....thinking something was stuck in there,, i pulled over to check and there was nothing blocking it but i finally got it shut..then, later in the week, after having the rear gate open for about 15 mins. Loading it, the car was dead. It had to be jumped. Once running, the beeper would not stop beeping in the rear gate. I could not open the rear gate, so i had to drive it to the dealer for a reset. Today, as got in it and once started, the electric eye was disengaged along with bst on startup. The car is going to the dealership again on april 21st.

Battery had premature failure

Bought with 11,258 mi.battery already replaced, receipt in glove compartment. Hard to start, keeping on battery charger now when parked in garage.

Completely dead battery when going outside to start the car. Remote not able to open locked car - all functions off before last engine shutdown. This 2019 subaru outback has 5800 miles on it and has had to have the battery recharged 3 times over the last 8 months or so - the last 2 times being 1 week apart. The car is parked in the garage and the outside temperature is above 40' this time of year.

Battery found discharged on at least 4 occasions (8/18/20..3/2/21). Car has less than 11000 miles on it.

I i have a 2019 subaru outback limited with approximately 16,700 miles on it.purchased in 11/2018.when i go and lower the passenger window, putting it back up on the one touch auto function it will go to the top and then back down halfway.the passenger side window switch becomes inoperative.i have to raise it on the driver's side switch slowly to get the window closed again.this appears to happen after the car is running for 30 minutes or more and hot out.this has happened on several occasions now.i have an appointment for next week at the subaru dealer to look at it.

The car frequently does not start when following conditions occur: 1) few days of non-use, 2) after several short drives, and, 3) hatch is kept open for 2-3 hours. The issue was first noticed 8 months after the start of the lease. Since then, it has occurred more frequently. The car needs to be jump started suggesting the battery is drained. I have mentioned this issue to the dealer numerous times and few months back the dealer replaced the battery under warranty. The issue has started again.

With 8400 miles and 13 months old battery had to be replaced. 6 days later the car battery was dead and needed jump start. Took it to dealer next day and they could find no problem or reason why this happened. No explanation. Both times vehicle was parked. Second time this happened i had started the car just 20 minutes prior to battery being completely dead.

In january, 2020, my 2019 subaru outback failed to start because the battery was dead. It did start with a jump but had a dead battery the next time i wanted to use it. I had the outback towed to the nearest dealer over 100 miles away. They offered no help, telling me the problem was battery drainage from the remote starter i had installed. So, i drovehome and then another 100 miles in the opposite direction to have the starter checked. The technician told me the remote starter was within acceptable range.i managed to get through the winter with a battery maintainer. The outback was fine once the weather warmed up this spring. Then in may, 2020, i again had problems. The hatch did not open, made clicking noises, and beeped when i would drive the outback. This problem after having to jump start the outback because the battery would again be dead. Not fun, when i would have to call for help to get home from grocery shopping. My friend suggested buying a new battery with more cranking power, which i did. Now, the outback is working fine. Will it last??? then when contacting subaru of america to see if i could get some reimbursement for the battery, the representative told me there was a recall on my outback due to fuel pump problems. I have not received a notification.

We purchased our 2019 subaru outback brand new. We didn't have any problems until 1.5 years into the purchase. We have approx 8,800 miles on it and now every time we go to drive it, the battery is dead. Dealer has tested the battery twice and says it is fine and that we need to keep the car plugged in to a battery tender. Even though we drive it a few times a week, including on the highway.

Car was purchased 2/25/19.at 6,824 miles (10/28/19), our car began to no turn on.after a 3-4 times of jumping it, the battery stopped responding to the jump.subaru had to tow it from our house because the battery was totally done and they couldn't even start it.subaru said that the battery was defective (or might have a larger issue with the electrical system in their words).they replaced the battery and it began working again (7,000 miles - 11/4/19).now, at 13,808 miles (6/16/21) - we've had 2 more instances in the past 2 weeks of the car not starting.in addition, the passenger side window no longer operates from the driver side door.we are confident that these issues are not being caused by lights left on, etc.we are taking it in again for another inspection.i have come to understand that this may be a design flaw with the electrical system including the 2019 outback model.

Since purchasing car new in 08/19, i have been stranded with a dead battery 10 times in 12,000 miles. This is due to 4things: 1. A poorly designed key fob with ahypersensitive button that opens the hatch unintentionally which kills battery; 2. Computer modules that remain fully 'on', drawing at least 3.6 amps (much more if interior lights are on) when hatch is open and/or door is open or ajar without mitigation from a timer as long as key fob is detected.so if i open hatch for day use activity, the the battery dies unless i find a way to deactivate the fob.if the unintentionally bump the hatch button while car is in secure garage, hatch is open and battery is dead next morning; 3. After an unintended hatch opening resulting in a dead battery, manually closing the hatch, jumping the battery, and driving results in a loud, continuous alarm with no dash light identification in the car for one minute or until car comes to a complete stop, then alarm resumes causing great anxiety and distraction! ; and 4. These problems and what you must do to combat them are not revealed in the owner's manual nor in the sales and purchase process which i find very deceptive!dealer service department is either not informed or not forthcoming until backed into a corner by specific questions.subaru of america has been contacted but will not respond.they claim 'operator error'.i claim design defect.i have to carry my own jump start battery behind the driver's seat because cargo area is not accessible with a dead battery, and i must treat my key fob like a hand grenade in order to keep from being stranded.i cannot trust this car, nor do i have my wife drive it anymore.

Problem: keyless pushbutton start. Would not start car on vacation. Vehicle manual very confusing. After several nerve racking minutes (1/2 to 45 minutes of trying). No other way known to start car. This was not a battery issue! vehicle was stationary after fueling up at gas station.

Parasitic battery drain frequently causes my battery to die after only hours parked.i often have to jumpstart the car in the morning.

The battery completely drained after only 30 minutes of turning car off. We had to have a service call.

The car battery drains and dies for an unknown reason while just parked in the driveway for a few days. When the battery dies the liftgate gets stuck and/or the radio/navigation screen freezes (at the starlink logo). I have been using the car for short trips but have been using it more than the other vehicles in our household but the battery of the outback still dies. I have two other vehicles parked in the driveway and none have this problem. It has happened multiple times now and each time, i have to jump start the outback. I was at the grocery store and when i was done shopping the car had a difficult time starting. The liftgate got stuck and i had to assist it to close. The vehicle would not start while the liftgate was open. When i tried to start the car, it had this slow cranking sound like it was having a hard time to start then after what seemed like a five to ten seconds the car eventually started.the dead battery issue happened multiple times now starting in april 2020 when i first reported it to the dealer. The most recent dead batter was today, 7/3/2020.

We purchased the car in july 2019.by may 2020 we had to replace the battery.by the end of january 2021 we had to replace the battery again.we took the car to the dealership and they state there is nothing wrong with the car.after owning the car for 19 months it only has 7,300 miles on it and has always been kept in the garage when not in use.

While backing out of my garage, the radio unit froze making the backup screen inoperable.this is a brand new car with 200 miles on it.according to the dealer, they will have to replace the head unit.they were able to get the unit working, hopefully until the new head unit arrives, by physically disconnecting the car battery.upon research, it turns out this has been a huge problem for subaru.had i known, i would never have bought the car.i have no confidence that they can fix the problem and worry i will be left with a crippled car with no warranty or redress.since a back up camera is a required safety feature under federal law, subaru should not be able to sell these defective cars until the problem is fixed, the infotainment system should have a lifetime warranty, and a full recall should be ordered.just google 'subaru head unit failure.'how much more information does nhtsa need before it acts?does a child need to be killed in a back up accident because of defective back up camera before appropriate action is taken? it is criminally negligent to allow these cars to continue to be sold until subaru has proven that they hav fixed the problem!

Three times in the last six months my battery died and required emergency roadside assistance. After the first time, the car only had about 5,000 miles on it, i called subaru and they replaced the battery under warranty. Since then the new battery has died twice. Online searches recently have revealed wide spread problems with the subaru outback's electrical system resulting in repeated battery failure.at this time the only outcome from this has been the battery failure, but if there are electrical system problems i'm concerned that more serious problems, like a fire, could arise.fortunately each time the battery died the car was in the garage at home. The car is driven regularly, at least once a week, for not less thanthirty minutes, so i am concerned that there is, indeed, a problem with the electrical system causing the battery to not recharge, or creating a drain on the battery when the vehicle is idle.

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated the battery was drained and the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was taken to bill rapp subaru (3446 burnet ave, syracuse, ny 13206, (315) 437-2501) where the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The battery was replaced however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 7,000.

Battery totally dead upon entering and attempting to start. Windscreen commenced to crack while traveling.

The battery died without warning on september 17. The car was jumped and brought to dealer. Dealer said tested battery and found to be 477 cca. Did not replace battery. Then on october 16th the battery died again. This time corrosion and leak found on positive part of battery. Took to the same dealer, told battery was indeed bad and replaced battery. There is no warning of low voltage in battery.

The vehicle will not start it was parked overnight in my garage and was not driven for past 48 hours. 2nd tme this has happened. Dealership says could not detect any problem first time i brought it in to them. The lights on the car do not work either. Nothing works on car today. Car has 13, 000 miles on it and it is a 2019 outback. Vehicle is stationary parked in my garage.

Tailgate has opened, on its own, on 4 separate occasions.in 2 instances it had remained open and unnoticed long enough to kill the battery and required tow service to charge it.i first reported this to my subaru dealer in spring 2020.in all 4 cases the car was parked in the garage when it happened, most recently on christmas eve to christmas morning, and again just 5 days later.

Vehicle will not start on numerous occasions. We replaced the battery, but problem continues. Several attempts to get problem corrected by dealership service department have failed. Problem has occurred for more that 5 months now.

Recently purchased 2019 subaru from a similar 2017.cruise control speed settings have changed which now require you to take your eyes off the road to watch for speed settings to change.on the 2017 and all other vehicles i have owned, to increase your speed setting by one mph, you push once and release.to increase by 5 mph, push and hold until it senses the increase.now.... A quick push of the button results in a 5 mph increase while you have to hold the button and watch the dashboard indicator as it slowly increases your setting 1 mph at a time.this is dangerous since your eyes are no longer on the road but on the dash area.everything else i own, thermostats, keyboards, tv remotes....all move up or down one degreee or channel at a time unless you hold the key press longer, then you get a faster repeat.i feel that taking my eyes off the road to watch my speed selection change is akin to texting.downright dangerous.the dealer from whom i purchased the new vehicle responds by saying.... "things change, get used to it".i find this situatiion unacceptable!

Vehicle purchased q2 2020. Battery has completely discharged twice despite nothing being left on and vehicle in constant use. Battery jump starter unable to detect any voltage and could not jump battery.

The vehicle has less than 12000 miles on it.battery keeps dying.we carry a jumper cable and a battery charger all the time.dealer refused to change the battery in june 2020 (in fort collins, colorado), dealer simply charged the battery.we don't know if it is an alternator problem, a battery problem, or other electrical systems components that keep draining battery when the vehicle is parked.this had made the car most unreliable.this is an ongoing problem, persisting for over the past 8 months.

We had an oncology appointment, parked as normal. After the visit about 90 minutes later, we attempt to drive home and the car wouldn't start, horn won't blow and we're presently awaiting a jump from aaa. The car was undriveable as no systems worked without the battery.

Apple carplay and starlink will freeze and make a loud "ringing sound" until vehicle is turned off and turn backed on.

Woke up this morning and the rear door was open and the car wouldn't start.this is the second time the battery failed for seemingly no reason and the 1st time the rear door was open.car was parked and hadn't been started for a couple of days.

Car battery often dies - especially if i open the door even for 5 minutes.it often won't start and the rear gate often does not open or close.it has even opened on its own. The dealership mechanic says the factory battery is not adequate to power the car with all electrical components.they replaced original battery because it was leaking.thebattery tested well below what the subaru manual says it should. I am the first owner (car was a dealership loaner) and this has happened since i got it in 2020.

The car had only 6817 miles on it when we bought it about three weeks ago. The car ran fine when it was delivered, but today, after finally registering and receiving the ny plates (delayed by covid-19), we tried to start it and nothing happened. Checking the battery with my voltmeter indicated only 4 volts remaining. This is after just sitting in our driveway for the past three weeks not using the car at all. Either the battery is faulty or something in the electrical system is slowly draining the battery.

Liftgate opened spontaneously overnight, causing rapid battery draining. Battery was dead the next morning. Car was inside locked garage.

Car battery completely drained after sitting over night in garage. No electrical left on to causedrainage, car was locked after use. Approx 6k miles on vehicle, no prior indication of battery failure.

I bought the car in july 2019 the touring model in may the car was dead a tow company came got it started. The next day dead again this time it was towed to the dealer. I'd heard from the tow guy a class action suit about the battery. Now september 25 all backed to go for a weekend event with dog, dead.we unpacked loaded a different car. Subaru is saying they no nothing about it and it's probably my driving habits. They assume i don't drive much it's now got 17k on it. I'm going to be traveling all over with my dog to some areas that are remote.everyone is learning of the issue an now i can't sell it in good faith and it's worthless to trade. Each time it's died it's been in the garage.

Passenger side window stopped working and the windshield had cracked for no reason and i had to replace it.

Battery completely discharged after several days of not using vehicle, this happened on several occasions during first year of ownership. Initially we thought it was related to leaving the key in or near the vehicle, or the auto close back hatch not completely closing due to mat obstruction. After being stranded several times and almost missing a flight we purchased a battery starter. It was ironic and a little humbling to have to carry a battery starter around with you in a brand new car so you wouldn't get stranded somewhere - especially a vehicle marketed to adventurous folks who park at remote trailheads. I eventually purchased a new higher amp battery which has larger mitigated the issue, but i still periodically charge the new battery as additional insurance. I measured a parasitic discharge rate of ~114 ma which is above baseline of 50 ma cited by some, but below 150 ma threshold mentioned by others. Subaru (both dealership and customer service) were made aware of the issue but didn't offer to diagnose or remedy, attributing the issue to not driving the vehicle often enough in combination with suggestion we purchase a better battery given our driving habits. So we have a vehicle with a relatively high parasitic drain rate that comes with a under sized battery, leaving the customer to wonder what is going on and creating potential safety issues in terms of non-starting vehicle.

Car will not restart after being turned off. Happens randomly. After the car sits for a while (hour or more) the car restarts normally. It acts like a dead battery, but only sometimes. The turn off period could be as brief as 2 minutes. I purchased the car as a certified pre-owned from a dealership in boise larry h miller subaru and only had the car for 4 days before this happened. It's now at the dealer. Car has 12,000 miles on it when this happened.

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated that the vehicle intermittently failed to start-up without warning. The contact also stated that while driving at various speeds, several unknown warning lights would appear on the instrument panel with the eyesight technology feature failing to operate as needed. The contact had taken the vehicle to yark subaru (6141 central ave, toledo, oh 43615) on three separate occasions however, each time the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact notified the manufacturer of the failure and was provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

2019 subaru outback. Consumer writes in regards to battery failure. *ld

The battery died, 2 times in approximately 2 weeks with no lights left on or doors open.this has occurred at least one other time.

Battery failed at 2 years and 30000 miles. No notification. Leaving me and my dog in a parking lot for 2 hours in 94 degree heat.

My car sat at home for 2 days. I then drove 5 miles and parked for 2 hours in a restaurant parking lot. After 2 hours of sitting in the parking lot, the car would not start. The battery had drained and i had to call a family member to jumper cable the car to get it started. I was so distressed that i was going to have a new battery installed at my expense. I then read about other people experiencing this same problem. I am really nervous about driving anywhere and having this happen again. The car has 32,000 miles on it.

My 2019 outback (bought in sept 2019) has been experiencing dead battery issues.i have had to jump start it twice in the last few months.i am only driving primarily one time per week due to covid, but i don't feel that i should have these issues with a new car/batttery.reading that others experience the same issues as i do.i just drove on wednesday and purposefully drove an extra time (total drive time was probably 25 minutes, stopping once) and on saturday the battery was dead again.i don't want to keep experiencing this.was going to change my battery but i don't know that it will solve the problem from what i am reading.i want to report it so that it can be investigated and potentially fixed.

Bought new 11/2019.battery will not stay charged...now on 3rd battery installed by dealer.today,(02/27/2020) this battery is now dead.my wife is disabled and has a 95 year old mother living 300 miles from my home that she visits on a regular basis...i do not trust this vehicle not to leave her stranded! subaru has a problem according to my research and this could be a safety issue if it leaves you stranded.

Dead battery problem. Having the battery go dead in a parking lot, had to have it jump started to get home.had the battery replaced after a few more cases of slow starting, battery was replace by dealer. Had to jump start the new battery in garage two more time in the part week. Had to buy a battery starter box to carry in the car to be sure i can get home if i drive this car.

1. System failed. We purchased this car on 6/2/20, with a mileage of 6,174 miles. We are retired and don't drive much; for shorter distances we mostly rode our bicycles. In our recentliving environment we can park cars outside in spaces, and in a large underground parking garage. While we did not drive much, i still needed to work on bicycles using tools stored in the rear trunk compartment, with the trunk lid in open position. What i did not know was that even the mere open car trunk was run electrically, though the large electronic dashboard gave a clue of a rather massive reliance on functions run electronically; after a mere 2-3 days of not driving we were made rudely aware that keeping the trunk lid open for any amount of time was a recipe for not being able to use the car when most needed; i should add here that the many subaru drivers in our complex did not seem to have that problem as they are all"professional" drivers.we called our designated towing service and had to wait for over 3 hours for a rep to show up. Not having bought a car in years we were amazed how quickly the tow driver pulled out an electronic gadget and started the car. It immediately bought one like that, an electronic jump starter. Safety. Had my wife had to find transportation to an urgent appointment it would have become a safety problem.problem confirmation. No, it has not, except by me, as any greater than fleeting use of electricity in this car is a recipe for disaster. Component inspected. Yes. After 2 more battery outages i took the car to the dealer andexplained the problem (which had little impact on the employee). I had the battery checked, it was fine and working as designed. On 9/25/21, after anotherbattery outage i took the car to the dealer again; again everything was operating as designed. Symptoms of the problem. No. Assessment.i concluded i needed to keep the car running when using any function more than 5 minutes.this car isa computer on wheels.

Battery failure x 4, on 3/26/20, 4/3/20, 5/7/20 and 6/7/20now on our third battery. Had to call roadside assistance to have car jump started on 2 occasions and then towed to the dealer third time. Something is draining the battery.

After 1.5 year ownership of new 2019 subaru outback, now has 17,000 miles, battery died. Car started fine in the morning, drove to restaurant for breakfast, came out after eating, car didn't start. Called subaru for jump start. The following day, took car to subaru dealer; battery tested normal.

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated that the battery was replaced five times since the vehicle was purchased in november 2019. The vehicle failed to start when parked for an extended period. The contact was unable to unlock the vehicle or access the battery to recharge the battery. The vehicle was taken to austin subaru (8100 burnet road, austin, tx 78757, (512) 220-0930) and the battery and body control module was replaced. The failure recurred after the vehicle was taken home and parked. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was provided a loaner. The failure mileage was 3,500.

We have had several battery issues. Now something is causing the key fob to stop working, dome lights won't turn on and tire pressure sensors don't work. It's been fixed once by subaru and broke again within a week. They said it had to do with a fuse in the computer biuor something but the car is unsafe and subaru won't do anything about it.the has had problems since we bought it brand new. Currently has 29k but started having problems with the battery within weeks of purchase.

2019 outback - can't remove ignition key even though car is off and in park.

A vehicle slow starting.wound not start at times.battery failed testing. Replaced at dealer.

Battery drain.purchased 2019 subaru outback in november 2018. In october 2020 (23 months) it failed to start after staying overnight at rest stop in middle of long drive. Checked by dealer after trip --"battery ok. No problems." over next 5 months of infrequent short trips, outback failed to start multiple times. Measured current drain when vehicle off was found to be within subaru allowable (<70 milliamps) but only after 15-20 minutes after everything had been turned off. Current drain during the 15-20 minutes was as high as 2 amps. Any activity (e.g., opening a door, setting alarm) re-initiated the 15-20 minutes of high current drain. Phoned dealer: only solution (within warranty period) was replacement with same oem battery. Decided to replace with more robust, non-subaru battery, since my experience and reports of others indicated oem battery would be insufficient to handle amount of drain. Purchased optima red25 battery from auto parts store on 6 april 2021 for $199.99. I believe that subaru needs to correct the issue of current drain (preferably) and/or equip the outback with an adequate battery with more reserve power. Since my original battery failed under warranty, i would also like to be reimbursed for my expense of $199.99.

My battery died overnight . I jumć³ started and took it to subaru who said i needed a new battery . My car has 28k miles and under 3 years since i bought it . They replace the battery and same thing happened 2 days later . I keep having to jumć³ start my car every other day and they donā€™t seem to know what the problem is .

For the second time in one month, my battery has fully drained and the car will not start.i've only had the car for 5 months and it only has 5,000 miles on it.

Had to charge battery 3 times in order to start the vehicle. Took to dealer and they put in a new battery at no charge. Concerned the battery will need to be replaced in the future. Appears to be an electrical drain especially using the tailgate. Dealer said they did a hard reset whatever that means.

The battery has drained overnight twice since i bought this car. This happened at home both times. This happened in my garage both timeseach time i recharged it with a battery charger and it was okay after that.i am concerned that this could happen while traveling which would be a severe inconvenience.the last time was on feb 25 2021. The first time was in 2020

Apx apr 25, 2021 noticed cracked windshield in am when starting car for work. Crack was in middle of windshield. Car parked in driveway overnight. Notified insurance company, told me to have it fixed at safelite auto glass wo# 388826. Also noticed my accessory power outlet was not functional, (instrument panel)called dealer, made appointment to have it repaired.also noticed my

Have had 2 batteries fail in 2 1/2 years. New battery installed and my electrical system is failing. Can't lock my car unless fob is in an rfid bag, has not started several times, and has refued to open several times for about a minute. Will be taking car back to dealer to see if they can fix the problem.

I purchased this pre-owned (by the dealership) 2019 outback bought from ramsey subaru, nj in may 2020 with 3366 total mileage.in the 6 months since we purchased the vehicle, it has failed to start twice, once requiring towing to the dealer service center and once requiring a jump start.i am now quite concerned about wife and kids being stranded.

Steering system/car feels unstable at highway speeds especially when windy.center display control buttons don't always function.windshield has cracked without road hazard incidents

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the battery was drained, and the vehicle would not start-up. The vehicle required a jump start each time the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed that there was no failure with the battery. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

Window slow/stop going up on driver side door, audio system was having loud popping noise, system that is supposed to tell you when how close you are to another car/automatically break- turns off on own/says no sight camera.

I bought my brand new 2019 subaru outback on may 19, 2019. On august 9, 2019 (82 days after buying the vehicle), i was driving about 30 mph down a side road with very little traffic. A tiny rock struck my windshield and immediately caused a crack. Within minutes the crack expanded to more than a foot long. Within days the crack expanded to be more than two feet long. I had the windshield replaced at the subaru dealership by a third-party glass repair business (that carter subaru of ballard uses for all glass replacement). After the part was installed, subaru had to recalibrate the eyesight cameras to ensure the vehicle was safe to drive. The windshield replacement ($748.58) and the recalibration ($345.45) totaled $1,0494.03. I thought i was just unlucky, having cracked the windshield and required repairs only 82 days after buying the car. Then today i read an article that said the windshields on 2017-2019 outbacks may be defective. If this is the case, i'd like subaru to pay for my windshield replacement, ent.

Engine does not brake when going downhill as the manual says it should. My previous outbacks (2006, 2011, 2017) did have engine braking. Regional service office suggested i place the car in cruise control in orderto control the speed. Car picks up speed quickly, so using the brake pedal is the best option. However, the problem is no engine braking when there should be at least some. This is dangerous on any hill. Second, steering is problematic. First, there is to much play in the steering wheel. Second, when in cruise control, the steering wheel seems to have a mind of its own, especially on curves. I am constantly having to work at controlling the steering wheel. It's very tiring. The third issue is in regard to the navigation system showing inaccurate speed limits. I noticed this problem had been reported as early as february 2019. I have had this vehicle since may 31, 2019.

We had an oncology appointment, parked as normal. After the visit about 90 minutes later, we attempt to drive home and the car wouldn't start, horn won't blow and we're presently awaiting a jump from aaa. The car was undriveable as no systems worked without the battery.

Random lack of acceleration and engine stumble; failed to accelerate when pulling out into traffic from side street nearly being hit by on-coming car. Seems to have become more frequent after engine fuel pump was changed due to recall.

Certain year models of subaru vehicles suffer from ā€˜sudden and unexpected accelerationā€™. We know since it has happened to us and, research shows, many, many other people. Waiting for the automatic garage door to open, the vehicle experienced the sudden and uncontrollable acceleration. This resulted in extensive damage to the vehicle, garage and contents in the garage. What will subaru do when this happens at a crosswalk?

Car sometimes accelerates on its own. I have to use pedal shifters to reduce the speed. Also noticed that it takes longer to brake sometimes.

Vehicle will not start on numerous occasions. We replaced the battery, but problem continues. Several attempts to get problem corrected by dealership service department have failed. Problem has occurred for more that 5 months now.

Had my first oil change at 5,000 miles and at 9,600 my oil light came on.went home and put 1 quart of oil in vehicle and was still down low.took to dealer and they changed oil and noted i had still been low 1/2 quart.filed case with suburu of america.nowin process of oil consumption test, but, saw that dealership overfilled my oil so i had them drain it down to proper level and have to start calculation mileage again for test.next problem.passenger front door, froze in winter.water inside car on floor.water test done at dealership after major storm, and car flooded inside.dealer replaced gasket around the door.oil issue was while driving.water issue was while stationary.

First oil change at 5,850 miles no problem.after second oil change at 11,948 miles, vehicle became undrivable as it stumbles and loses power between 2,000-2,700 rpm. Dealer has repeated oil change 3 additional times as they are not certain if they may have overfilled the engine (known subaru issue). They have also replaced the exhaust, catalytic converter, air filter, intake system, and transmission, all to no avail.disconnecting the battery and grounding the cables to discharge all capacitors provided temporary relief, but the problem returned within 36 hours and 200 miles. Now entering 3 weeks and 600 miles of troubleshooting and test driving by the dealer, but they have been unable to fix the problem. The car is still unsafe and undrivable, as 2000-2700 rpm is the heart of the power band that is always used when driving.

Headlights are aimed too high. According to subaru this can't be adjusted. This is their steering adaptive headlight. I get high-beam blinked but too many oncoming cars. On dark nights i can see their angle is up not down toward road. I see great but oncoming must be difficult. You must be able to have ability to adjust.

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated that while driving 75 mph, the headlights failed to illuminate. The instrument panel also became inoperable. Battery drained after 25,000 miles

Driving down a smooth road with no vehicles in front of me on july 13, 2021. Windshield spontaneously cracked at the base in the center. Not a rock chip. Crack spread up 6 inches, left another 6 inches within the 15 minutes it took to drive home. Cracks in the windshield have continued to spread in the days following. Vehicle has total 25,300 miles on odometer.

My 2019 subaru outback had a cracked windshield at the bottom/side of the passenger side with no sign of impact when i first purchased it. The dealership replaced the windshield. I had a small rock impact near the line of sight cameras that was easily repaired by safelight with no issues with cracking. Today i came out of the grocery store to find my parked outback's windshield has a crack from the same passenger side point as the first crack. The crack was all the way to the center of the windshield. There is a very small chip looking impact (smaller than the point of a ball point pen) approx 4" from the lower corner passenger side. I do not recall hearing an impact at any point. Beyond not hearing an impact the problem is that there is no way on earth that a safesubaru windshield should crack so deeply and so long from a tiny impact. I have been reading that many other subaru drivers are having this problem. Something needs to be done to make subaru protect their drivers from defective windshields, as they seem to be taking zero responsibility for the huge safety risk these poorly designed windshields are causing.

My 2019 subaru outback unintentionally accelerated.i was sitting in my suv waiting for an electronic gate to open at my storage unit.i was about 10-15 feet in front of the gate. My foot was firmly on the brake and the car was in drive.i have been at this gate many times.this time, before the gate could fully open, the car raced forward at top speed into the gate.damaging my bumper and terrifying me!the gate did stop the car.i felt like a ghost had slammed a foot on the gas pedal!!!the breaks did nothing.the subaru floor mat was attached with 2 pegs and sticks like velcro to the carpet.thank god i was not at a crosswalk or in front of a building - i would have killed myself or someone else!i reported this to my local dealer and they referred me to subaru of america.the dealer had my car for 6 weeks and s.o.a. Sent a team to inspect the car for 6 hours.customer service after 6 weeks said my car was fine.that no issues were found!they will not provide me with a list of tests completed or what was reported by the "black box" on board.all i have is a email from peter at customer service (that was my 3rd and final rep.) that that is all the information that he has or can get and the care is fine to drive!if that is so, why is there a class action lawsuit against them!

Battery drained after 25,000 miles

Continuing problems with the battery being dead (five). The car has been in the shop twice and had the battery replaced both times. The service appointments occurred nov. 2019 and march 2021.

Front windshield cracked while vehicle parked in driveway. Crack is in passenger side extending from side across and curving up. Had several windshield repairs near center of glass before. Mileage is just under 34,000 miles.

I was driving down the freeway and my windshield spontaneously cracked at the top middle edge and shot down almost halfway across the windshield.a rock on any other object did not hit my windshield.it just simply broke spontaneously.due to this break the forward collision sensor is now failing and warning me to get my car service.this problem is well documented through other complains and existing lawsuits.

I went to drive my car and noticed a large windshield crack that is getting larger. There was no trauma or event that caused this to happen.

I was picking my son up from school when the crack started, as i sat in the parking lot it continued down and across the center of the windshield. There were no chips or dings to be found. I do believe it causes the forward crash indicator to trip sooner than it should.

I was driving the vehicle at the time on a state highway. The vehicle was purchased brand new from wilde subaru in waukesha, wi. I contacted the dealership and they wouldn't do anything about the problem.

Unknown...my battery has need a jump several time without any electricals left on.the dealer did check it out and found nothing wrong. I also havelights that go on intermittently n the dash saying that certain things are not working. Ie front crash detection, blind spot warning and lane departure.

This is my second windshield that was replaced on 12/08/2020 i walked out to my car which had been parked in the drive way since 12/30/2020 and noticed the windshield was cracked from the bottom passenger side under the black window trim i called the dealership and they said to call my insurance. There is no chip no nothing just the crack leading from the bottom to the middle of the window now

The windshield on my 2019 subaru outback has cracked twice since i leased it on 4/11/2019.the cracks require the windshield to be replaced and the driver assist features to be recalibrated. Each cracked occurred when the car was in motion on the highway.

Today may 22 around 4:19 pm no cars close to us while driving we had the front windshield spontaneously crack there was no impact there was no impact heard all we heard was like cracking sound i have seen online where subaru is using an acoustic type of glass and people are reporting cracked windshields i would like to have this investigated furthermore iā€™d like to have subaru repair my vehicle.

The vehicle ran rough and then lost power while exiting i-55 in the chicago area.the vehicle was stalled on the side of the exit ramp, but i was able to restart it and exit the interstate.it seems like it is related to the ongoing fuel pump recall.

Purchased vehicle in march 2019, since owning vehicle my miles per gallon has been off ranging from 6 miles to 99 miles per gallon and the subaru dealer doesn't know what the issue is. Also, while applying the brakes, you have to apply the pedal all the way down to stop. The vehicle has a soft pedal and a burnt smell in the engine.

On several occasions the vehicle when the car was in motion (city driving) it accelerated when my foot was off the gas pedal and was on the brake pedal. It was a shock but i continued applying pressure on the brake pedal and the acceleration would stop. It happened 3 of 4 times during the initial 5 months of owning the car. Bought this car new approximately 8 months ago on 8/29/19.i called dealer and they said they had not heard about this happening with other outbacks and i would have to leave the car with them to see if they could get it to do the same.it hasn't done this in a couple of months so i am not sure what to do. I thought i would bring it up again when i take it in for the 1st oil change.

My outback had fuel pump failure and stalled on highway ramp on july 5, 2020 after subaru dealership replaced fuel pump on july 1, 2020 per safety recall wrd-20.on july 1, 2020, i had my 18,000 miles service and safety recall wrd-20 (fuel-pump)done at subaru dealership. Picked up the car and drove it home. On july 5, i drove from pleasant hill to san francisco and the car stalled on highway 101at off ramp. I cannot restart the car and there was heavy smell of gasoline coming inside the car. I cannot push it to the side since the driving wheel is very hard to move and the car stalled in the middle lane of three lanes highway ramp.i had to wait for tow truck to come to get off the highway and it was towed back to my home since the dealership service shop is closed on sunday. After the tow truck dropped off my car, i was trying to start the car and found out gasoline is leaking/pouring from bottom of my car and still cannot start. I have attached two pictures to show the gasoline leaking/pouring condition. I went online and found i am not the only case that fuel pump failed again after recall wrd-20 fuel pump replacement. This is not safe for drivers.

I have been unable to safely drive my 2019 subaru outback since june of 2020. I received an official safety recall notice in the mail from subaru. The notice stated that the vehicle was at risk for a crash if not repaired.several weeks ago i contacted subaru of el paso where i purchased the vehicle, as instructed in the recall notice, to schedule and complete the safety repair. I was informed at that time that the required parts were not available. The subaru agent was unable to let me know when the parts would become available. I have received no follow-up from subaru since that time. The repair has not been completed.

My 2019 subaru outback had a fuel pump recall, and the dealership did the recall. I drove the car for 15 miles, parked it on a city street, and when i returned back after an hour to start the car, it did not start. The whole interior started smelling like gasoline. When i exited the car, i noticed gasoline leaking from the passenger side of the car, and all over the city street. I think the new fuel pump they are installing are defective.

Unknown origin. Currently approximate miles 12500. Travel 450-550 miles per week, 400-450 miles are highway miles. Somewhere between 10,000-11,000 miles i started noticing a high-pitched squealing/whining only while in motion. It starts around 20-30 mph, and either goes away or becomes unnoticeable after ~50 mph. Could not pinpoint where it was coming from. When scheduling regular maintenance, dealership was notified of noise. At the time of maintenance, service department investigated said noise. The service department stated that it was the carrier bearing. He did not make it sound urgent, that it was "more of an annoyance right now" and would cause "more serious issues eventually ".

The vehicle was towed to local dealer riverhead bay subaru (1521 old country rd, riverhead, ny 11901: (631) 727-4000) and she was informed the cause of the failure was due to the ice and the no use of emergency brakes. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately26,214.

On the morning of december 9th, 2020 i was driving to work on the freeway and was on an interchange from one freeway to another when i suddenly heard a 'crack'. As i arrived to work a few minutes later i noticed that my windshield now had a large crack in it. I looked for a point of impact thinking a projectile might have hit it but i did not find one. At that point i remembered that i was the only one on the interchange at the time and that there was no car in front of me to send any projectiles flying back. I believe this is due to a faulty windshield as there was no other cause for the crack.additionally, engine feels like it sputters or as if transmission does not change gears causing a delay in pick up and potentially dangerous lack of acceleration.

2019 subaru outback 2.5i limited.purchased january '19.car was located by dealer at other dealership and delivered late at night without owners having ability to test drive.within one week owners noticed seat issue and contacted dealer immediately.driver seat slope issue:driver seat base slopes from left down to right approx. 3/4"-1".problem noticed in first month after delivery and subaru was notified.area dealers, subaru corporate and factory field engineer (ffe) refuse to properly confront/ diagnose/ repair the issue.owner showed service technicians and manager at dealer using a 1 ft' bubble level that the issue is evident.all service personnel have admitted to owner that they see the problem but refuse to acknowledge those facts in their service invoice statements.seat slope issue creates an unsafe driving environment as the driver has to push off of center console while left hand cornering and long distance driving is not permissible as it is uncomfortable unless driver uses a towel or pillow to level the seat base.normal operation involves drive resting elbo firmly into center console to stay upright.owners are concerned due to driver ergonomics and ability of safety restrains/airbags to perform as designed if in any type of collision if the driver is not centered or positioned properly in the car as designed and tested for impacts.subaru corp. Sr. Rep. Says subaru has no published specifications or measurements for subaru seats for ffe to compare seat construction/install of my vehicle to.the ffe performed corporate/customer inspection using a cell phone in a leather cell phone wallet and a bubble level application as his reference for denial of claim.i have pictures of personal inspection with levels and measurements available upon request.

Driver side seat is sounding like a weak and used bed.i have read on multiple subaru sites that this has been happening since 2018 on various subaru vehicles.it's apparently a weld that is weak.this makes it a safety hazard.due to the fact that subaru has known about this issue for a year and stilled installed these seats on a 2019 vehicle demonstrates that subaru has poor quality checks.i asked for a replacement but was quoted over 2k for the replacement.this is just wrong and subaru needs to replace these seats.if a weld is weak, think what will happen during an accident with that seat.

Unintended acceleration event when applying the brake at slow speed, pulling into a parking spot. Braking force was unable to over come the acceleration. Fortunately no injuries or damage. A scary situation, confidence lost in the vehicle.subaru north america claims "the vehicle is safe and operating as designed."

There was always issue with the brakes, not able to control the speed when needed.spoke with the service agents and they mentioned everything is good.but i had experienced the speed issue in several occasions.

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to slow the vehicle while driving in inclement weather, the brake pedal was depressed however, the vehicle independently accelerated. The brake pedal was depressed a second time and the vehicle slowed. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The vin was not available.

On the evening of december 23, 2019 i hit a deer going approximately 25 miles/hour. The deer darted out in front of. I did not have time to take my foot off the gas. However, the auto-braking function on the car initiated. The collision did damage to the front grill area and right front quarter panel. The air bags (driver's and side curtains) deployed. After the collision and initial auto-braking, i lost all ability to brake using the brake pedal. The car continued for approximately another quarter mile before coming to a stop. Before the car came to a stop, i jumped/rolled out of the car because i wasn't sure if the car was on fire. The white dust and smell (from air bags) had me concerned. My major concern now is that i lost normal braking ability. This should be looked at. The pennsylvania state police report number is pa 2019-1706182. Insurance coverage was by nationwide. My calim number is 022305-gk. The car is being repaired by car care collision in honesdale, pa.

Per dealer visit 12/2/19 with about 6000+ miles on the car.the problem as i see it is that the brake pedal slowly sinks to the floor or a hard mechanical stop where no further hard pressure can be applied.this occurs when light to medium pressure is applied to the pedal and held for about 10-20 seconds. It can be demonstrated when stopped in traffic or parked. In order to recover to full pedal height and use, the pedal needs to be released and pumped up to normal height. The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated while parallel parking, the vehicle accelerated without warning and crashed into a power pole. The contact placed the vehicle in drive and the vehicle lurged forward while the brake pedal was depressed. A police report was filed. There was no reported injuries, fire, or air bag deployment. The vehicle was taken to the contact's residence. The contact mentioned the side panel, bumper and lights were damaged. The insurance company was informed about the failure. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 12,000.

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated while the vehicle was at a stand still, facing forward on her inclined iced driveway, when the vehicle began to roll down. The contact stated she did not use the emergency brakes while the vehicle was parked.

I would like to report an issue with what i believe to be the braking system in the 2019 subaru outback. While driving northbound on the dallas north toll way, at a speed of approximately 65 to 70 mph, i tapped on the brakes to slow down for the upcoming decline. When i attempted to put my foot on the accelerator, the car suddenly and abruptly stopped. It was as if the brakes "locked", i was unable to accelerate. We came to a complete stop on the tollway and were unable to accelerate the car. We were hit from behind. The stoppage was so sudden that it resulted in athree-car collision.the engine was still running after the collision. The police officer instructed me to try to drive the vehicle off of the road, but despite my pressing the accelerator, the car was still unable to move even a small distance. *dt*as

Based upon the subaru review in the consumer reports april auto issue, i purchased a 2019 outback. There is a problem with the steering. It has about thirty degrees of play. It takes constant adjustment to keep the vehicle in the center of the lane. The service department told me that there is nothing wrong with the steering. I just had to get used to driving with the subaru 'eye sight'. Driving on the interstate is stressful to say the least. On a trip to tampa on i-275 i almost side swiped another car.

I took delivery of this new vehicle on 10 september 2018 after short test drive on urban streets. By the time i had driven on about 100 miles on rural and 4 lane roads i was really disturbed by the way the vehicle "wandered" from side to side and seemingly without any steering wheel input except enough to correct the drift to right or left. It seems when the wheels are centered the steering wheel appears to have "dead zone". I called the service manager and he said "we get a lot of complaints about that".took it to dealer on 30 oct 2018 as(3341 miles) and said it was alright . I have not "gotten used to it" and is exhausting to drive. It is like driving in strong cross winds when there is no wind or hydroplaning on dry roads.

Beginning in march of 2019, i began noticing that the steering felt "wobbly" above 40 mph, as if the car hit a patch of ice or was struck by a sudden gust of wind. Driving feels very unsafe. This is our third subaru outback, going back to 1998, so we are familiar with driving this car (or at least older model years). Further, by turning off the new "lane departure switch" this problem is minimized. We just moved from florida to connecticut and i am not looking forward to driving this car in the winter.these cars need to be recalled and fixed before someone has a serious accident!!!

I have noticed that when driving above 40 mph the steering seems to "slip" and pull the car to the right. At that time the steering wheel has additional play making an immediate correction impossible. Highways have been clear however i am concerned what will happen when roads are slick w inclement weather. Took back to dealer; they adjusted toe rods. Problem still persists. I am concerned that this is a significant safety issue.

The windshield of my 2019 subaru outback spontaneously cracked.i was driving down a highway at about 50 mph, with no one in front of me or coming the other way.the windshield was not hit by road debris or anything of the sort.there was just a loud "pop". The eyesight functionality is now inconsistent as the crack extended from 6 inches to across the whole windshield in a few hours.the temperature was not below freezing and was about 45-50 degrees.the costs to replace a windshield like this are exorbitant because of all of the "safety" features and re-calibrating involved.i brought the problem to the attention of my local subaru dealer and was told it is not covered under warranty.i inquired about known defects with the windshield and was told there are no defects with the windshields in the subaru outback 2019.

Steering unexpectedly nudges you to one side. Car seems to take control temporarily from the driver and makes a correction to the left or the right.

Car has less than 400 miles on. When driving at highway speeds it feels like i do not have any control, no feedback from a steering wheel. It feels like driving on ice. Went to a dealer and they said that nothing is wrong with it. It feels extremely dangerous when driving, and i feel totally exhausted after. Had multiple outbacks in the past and never had an issue like this. They need to fix it asap, too dangerous.

Under the following three conditions the front tires appear to become airborne and the tires skip making the vehicle seem to be out-of-control; when traveling at speeds >35 mph, wheels are turned >10 degrees, any long bump (such as a rough transition "bump" from asphalt to concrete). This has been worsening over the last year and is now unsafe for my children to be in the car. My local subaru dealership spent nearly 2 days inspecting all aspects of the car to include the alignment, bushings, and shocks. A senior technician was taken for a test-drive in the car and i was able to recreate the "skip". The technician was alarmed and surprised by the skip and thus held the car for a 2nd day to further investigate the reason for the "skip". They were unable to diagnose any defect. There has been no inspection by the police or insurance company. There have been no alarms or warning.

I bought the 2019 subaru outback less than 2 months ago. While driving either on the street or on the freeway at reasonable speeds, the car will suddenly without warning veer to the left or right causing me to believe i was about to lose control. At first i thought i hit a pothole or some other road hazard. There is nothing that i can see on the road to cause this.this is occurring once every other time i drive the car. I looked online and noticed many other complaints which are exactly the same as mine.this is very dangerous as this veering can cause a serious accident.i spoke with subaru and am now trying to have it looked at since it is still under warranty. There were no warning lights, etc. Please look into this safety concern.

Driving on city streets - car steering wheel pulls to right without warning - feeling of losing control of car by driver - also pulls to the left when changing lanes to the left -- speed 40 to 50 miles an hour - feels like steering wheel is "loose" or has come loose. Complained to dealer yesterday - they said it is a suspension problem and to bring it back - have an appointment monday morning at 8 am to have it fixed.

The steering seems to float.you lose road feel and the steering seems to catch.there is also a single beepheard when this occurs.

When driving on highway from 40-70 mph, and making a turn to right or left, the steering will suddenly over steer towards the direction of the turn, giving a feeling of loss of connection between steering wheel and the car's wheels. Feels like too much play in steering wheel. Have to over correct the other direction to get steering feel and correct direction for the car back. Dangerous.

Car will pull to the left or right without warning.whenever you are driving at any speed.especially when you have a low spot in the road or slightly uneven pavement.you have to hold the car on the road or it will not stay in lane.highway or in town.have returned to dealership for repair with no luck.was told that the alignment on the vehicle was good.

Above 50-60 miles an hour the steering began to wander (it felt like i had no control and the car wanted to steer itself) very dangerous! on an interstate where speed limit was 70mph.

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated that at 40 mph or above, the vehicle was difficult to steer due to the loss of power steering assist. The contact stated that the vehicle veered independently from lane to lane which made the vehicle unsafe to drive. The contact reached out to capitol subaru located at (235 cherry ave ne, salem, or 97301, 503-576-3300) by email but was yet to receive a response in return. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure but stated that due to the current covid-19 pandemic, they were unable to verify a date or time when the vehicle would be repaired. The failure mileage was 100.

Vehicle steering is dangerous...vehicle suddenly lunged hard right then hard left ...all while in motion on the road about 35 mph...was very perplexed and i'm scared to drive the vehicle now...after googling make & model recalls earlier years had steering issues recalled...perhaps this is the case for this vehicle?too dangerous to drive...

On freeway - traffic moving at about 45 mph on corner - the car veered sharply towards the freeway inside wall.no control of steering when i tried to gently correct - when the car finally responded it veered sharply i tot he lanes to my right.the steering was out of my control.i have only had the car for a week - it is brand newand the steer assist was on.the subaru outback 2019 steering was out of my control on a corner going approx 45 mph - dangerous.there is something seriously wrong with the steering.my 1998 and 2016 outbacks drive and cornered excellent rly - the subaru outback 2019 has a seriously dangerous steering problem.

Loose control of the steering wheel when driving faster than 50 mph on highway, or turning on curves. The steering wheel tends to wander that the driver does not have the control of the steering wheel. The driver feels unsafe.

Steering wobbles veers in and out of lane at random!best way to describe it is that it feels like 'engaging and disengaging' feels like i am losing control while driving!needs a total recall. Accidents will happen!

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel would tighten and oversteer while switching lanes without warning. The contact stated that excessive force was needed to regain complete control of the vehicle after the failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle had to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.

Panel above driver pedals fell off while driving making it impossible to use the gas or break pedal. The panel was improperly installed and missing holdingclips and screws.

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph the front windshield started to crack. The crack started at the bottom section of the windshield under the windshield wiper and extended approximately 30 inches. The vehicle was taken to an independent glass repair shop and was repaired. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer reedman toll subaru located at (1700 east lincoln hwy, langhorne pa) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,000.

The first windshield from manufacturer was replaced because of a chip which developed into a foot of crack overnight. Within a week, the cracks went in different directions. Even the car was stationed for days (quarantine), the cracks were still developing. The windshield was replaced and installed a new one by subaru on july 16th. It was chipped a week later driving under 45 mph. Again, the chip became a 5-inch curvy crack overnight. The next day, the new crack developed and different cracks appeared within 3 days. The slightest impact with any object causes the windshield to crack easily and immediately. It has become a severe safety concern.

The spot welds under the dash do not appear to be correct and safe.*dt

Many of the spot welds are faulty . I have tried to work with brandon tomes subaru, the dealer that we leased the car from. I have also requested help for subaru. Neither have responded .

Crack appeared in windshield with no apparent cause and quickly expanded, requiring replacement. First noticed crack while driving on city street. No visible nick, nothing appeared to have hit windshield prior to appearance of crack.

I got into my car that was parked in my driveway and noticed a large crack in my windshield on the driver's side. It was not there the night before and there was no impact to my windshield. Since then the crack has spread about 1/3 of the way across the windshield. Again, spontaneously with no impact.

Windshield in my vehicle cracked twice within 11 months of owning this vehicle due to little or no cause.i had to pay for the windshield out of my pocket.

I purchased a new 2019 outback at the end of march in 2019. In may 2019, my windshield spontaneously cracked, diagonally across the entire windshield. I took it to the dealership in july to note the crack and request they replace it since it seemed to happen without any impact. The crack began from the top edge on the passenger side. I never received a response from subaru or the dealership.

Windshield seemingly cracked without any provocation/collision. Crack occurred while vehicle was parked away from traffic, and requires windshield replacement.

Three windshields have now cracked beyond repair and needed to be replaced with barely 33,000 miles on the vehicle.the first replacement was done in july 2019 when the car was barely six months old.the second replacement was done in april 2021, barely two months ago.that third windshield cracked the second week of june 2021. It is currently scheduled for replacement.

The rear liftgate only has the exterior electric button to open liftgate.a panel inside the gate has to be removed in order to give anyone trapped inside a safe exit.the panel requires a tool to pry it off in order to get to the latch inside.the key remote fob will only unlock the electric switch, not release the latch.anyone trapped inside would still not be able to escape the back of the car.

I took the car in for service because the car was pulling to the right, along with the regular oil change, and the dealer is telling me that the spindle is bent.they are telling me that this could only have occurred in an accident, but we have not had any accidents in the 11,800 since we purchased it new last december.

Manufacturing defect in the right rear stabilizer bracket outside weld.the weld is improperly placed and does not actually attach part of the bracket to the subframe.(note, the weld on the left rear stabilizer bracket is properly placed and does attach the bracket to the subframe.)it's clear that the bracket or weld were out of position because the weld bead has no penetration on the stabilizer bar bracket.the lack of weld on this side of the bracket will place the bracket under a torsional load thereby placing greater stress on the weld on the inside tab of the bracket.faiilure of this bracket could lead to reduce vehicle stability.chances are if my vehicle was produced like this then other vehicles were also produced like this.it's not something which you would normally notice because this isn't a routine inspection item.

2019 subaru outback. Consumer is seeking reimbursement for repairs made to vehicle. *ldthe consumer stated the tires were prematurely worn. The consumer slid off the road 3 times.

18" long windshield crack appeared on the passenger side about 6" from the bottom. I was driving on the highway and it may have cracked when or if pebble hit it. A lot of bugs died on my windshield that morning too so i had to use my windshield wipers and washer fluid. I did not notice a crack because it was way too dark in the morning to see anything. I noticed the crack at 1pm in the parking lot at work getting ready to go home.

Driver's side vent window shattered without impact on 10/31/2020 while in transit southbound on route 28 near highlands park bridge near pittsburgh, pa., moving at approx. 55mph. Driver's side was facing towards a river separated from northbound traffic by an approx. 40 foot drop. No traffic was in front/behind/to the passenger's side at the time.

The certified subaru windshields are too thin.they break with little to no impact.i've had to replace two so far with only 3400 miles on the odometer.have i mentioned how expensive these windshields are to replace, upwards of $1600.i know subaru had a previous glass recall, but someone needs to look, into the 2019 windshields.

On 4/10/19 as i was getting into my car, i noticed a huge crack on my driver side of the windshield that starts from the base running toward the center of the windshield.the car was bought on jan 20th of 2019 and has 4200 miles.called safelite and they are estimating $1300+ to replace.

We developed two spontaneous cracks in our windshield. The vehicle was stationary, parked in our garage. No debris hit the windshield at any time.the cracks begin under/at the driver side near/under the wiper unit. (the cracks essentially form a wide "v" one crack toward the passenger side is quite long and growing, the other is short - about 3" now also growing). The location of the beginning of the crack/s is under the level of the hood of the car, which would also make it near impossible for the crack to be due to a pebble, gravel, etc.

Have 10,000 miles on my 2019 subaru and have been stranded twice because of batterie. Subaru have changed two batteries so far

We were driving south on 275 between 8mile and 7mile in michigan in our 2019 subaru outback and out of nowhere what sounded like a pistol being shot next to our ears went off and glass came pouring in from the sunroof. What happened was the sunroof exploded out of nowhere. While driving 70mph on the highway. We contacted subaru of america and they told us that without every shard of glass for them to inspect we could not prove that it was a defect. However let me make a note there were not cars very close to us, we weren't going under a bridge and there wasn't any one throwing things on the side of the highway. However subaru blamed an imaginary pebble that hit the top of the sunroof dead on and that imaginary pebble did not end up inside of our car.

In february 2021 i noticed that there was a long crack developing in my windshield - literally not there the night before - and there was no chip or location of rock impact, it simply cracked from the very top of the windshield.

Front window cracked in motion on a highway going forwars.

The windshield on this subaru has been replaced 4 times.each time has been a crack that starts where the frame and windshield meet.no breakage or cracks have occurred in the center of the glass.the glass has been replaced by the dealer, and replacement has been needed within 6-9 months. The last occurrence was in my (driver) line of sight, which was a safety hazard.the prior 3 occurrences originated on the passenger side. The manufacturer is aware of this problem, with no recall or attempt to change the windshield glass.

Windshield has a crack under the wiper blade that has spread outward in a c pattern. Vehicle was parked in shopping area and no other personal were nearby. Weather was clear and no objects had impacted the vehicle while driving. Star pattern was noticed after dealership used pen to open the area up more. Please see attached picture

I was driving from sacramento to long beach - about 200 miles into the journey, at about 6:10/6:15 on a mild evening (temperature was about 75) my sunroof suddenly exploded.the road condition were fine, there was no debris in the road that i could see or was aware of.i was traveling with traffic at about 75 mph (speed limit is 70). The sound was like a shotgun blast.it was, without exception, one of the most frightening experiences i've had, particularly in a vehicle.i pulled over and saw what had occurred.it is unlikely that something struck the sunroof - i had a thule cargo box on the vehicle and nothing could have struck it from above.it was also unlikely for something to have hit the windshield from the road - it would have had to fit in the space between the hood and the cargo box and i heard nothing before the explosion - additionally, there is no damage or evidence of anything hitting the roof anywhere else that i can see now.i have contacted subaru and made them awarethey have begun their own internal investigation.

The windshield is cracked. I went out to my car on may 16 and on the front windshield there was a "y" shaped crack going up from the bottom middle of the windshield.when i went back outside on may 18, the crack had spread about 4 inches toward each side of the windshield. On may 21, the crack had spread more and is curving around. The car was parked in my driveway when all of this happened.

The windshield developed a crack and significant expansion cracks while driving 70mph on a highway on 27mar2019. There was no car within 1-2 football fields. This was on a 4-lane divided highway. The pebble that may have hit my windshield should not have caused the significant damage to the windshield since no vehicle was nearby. I have had this car for <2 months and have driven it ~3500 miles. It was brand new. It appears there is a manufacturing defect that may be similar to the 2015-2016 outback. I am concerned that there may continued cracks/fractures of the windshield with minimal trauma. Thank you for your time.

Windshield cracked for no apparent reason, large crack on passenger side. I was driving my car on city streets when this happened.

Window slow/stop going up on driver side door, audio system was having loud popping noise, system that is supposed to tell you when how close you are to another car/automatically break- turns off on own/says no sight camera.

Spontaneous crack in my windshield. No impact every noticed. I noticed when i was driving at dusk and used my windshield wipers to clear rain. I saw a glisten at the bottom and was surprised to see a crack.

Send attached letter to manager of service. No response yet.

Dead battery, car would not start, no reason for dead battery.possible overcharging due to electrical issues

Windshield crack that started from the bottom edge of windshield.i literally woke up to a crack that developed overnight after a regular cold night in reno nv.the crack continued growing since then.i have never own a vehicle that has cracked its windshield just because it is a cold night. Vehicle was parked overnight when crack developed.

Driving down the interstate and my sunroof explodes. There were no cars around. No indication of something hitting it, especially considering i had a large cargo roof box covering the windshield. If something did hit it, it would have been an impossible angle to clear the roofbox but also not make any other marks on my car? i have had the car for two weeks. Thankfully had the sunshade closed because if not, glass would have exploded into the car and onto me driving as well. Now the glass was spewed over the interstate and i have an obvious unlocked entry point into my car. When it exploded, it sounded like a shotgun blast. I thought i was being shot at.

I was emailing about my concern for my 2019 outback and the ongoing issues with the windshield. I had an issue where my windshield was struck with some small debris and caused a crack in my windshield. A week later it cracked severely on the bottom passenger side. Two weeks' after, a small pebble hit the top passenger side on the windshield and caused a pit. A week after that issue it also cracked severely where the second hit occurred. I am aware of the class action issue for front windshields from 2016 to 2017 for outback's. Is this an ongoing problem? if so how can your company claim to the safest vehicle on the road if the windshield continues to have issues. I have a baby on the way in a couple of weeks and now i doubt the safety of my choice. I now have to use my insurance, my money and take time out of my busyness to have this fixed. I have had many cars in my lifetime and had varying amounts of items hit the windshield on the freeway and never had a crack happen. I was behind a construction vehicle and had a large amount of tar chunks and rocks hit my nissan altima. It had some chips in the windshield but never cracked. I have had this car less than 3 months with less than 2000 miles on it and already severe chips and cracks in my windshield? the glass company that was used must be allowing inferior products to be sold.i want to know how i can be compensated for my time and aguish and how your company can fix this ongoing issue? the glass on the vehicle should not have any quality issues as it has not seen any road time or wear along with sun degradation. Can you explain why the quality of the glass is of such poor resistance? this email that i wrote above was send to subaru of america

Unknownit was parked in the garage for 2 days, when i came out there was a crack in the windshield.

Windshield cracked spontaneously.driver window does not open.

The car was purchased certified pre owned with less than 20000 miles.after i got my first car wash noticed thousands of pit in the window.they had it super covered with a compound the wash took off.now for no reason a huge crake went through the windshield! warranty of course won't cover it. Wham!!! $$1000 repair! i have had car less then three months.

Our windshield has cracked twice in one year. The second crack occurred six weeks after replacement overnight while parked in a garage. It extends through the rear view mirror attachment.

Front windshield is cracked in same location, two separate events, over a period of 4 weeks.each time the crack appears to originate in the top center of the windshield and then the crack migrates to the center of the windshield.

After owning 2019 subaru outback for 6 months, washing it i found 6 to 7 chips scattered around the front windshield. I had the windshield replaced due to living in florida, not wanting to take any chances. I driving vehicles for more than 45 years, i don't think that i had 6 chips on all the vehicles combined.i believe that subaru has inferior quality windshield glass.

I bought a certified subaru outback 2019 in february 2020 with 4500 odometers reading. While i was driving my car on the highway on march 15, 2020, a tiny stone hit on my windshield and cracked my windshield. I replaced it on june 17, 2020 which cost me $960.

Windshield cracked on its own (clearly no point of impact). Started at the base of the windshield, about 3 inches to the right (passanger) side of the midline. Propagated throuhgout the whole windshield and needed to be replaced.

Front windshield has cracked 3 times from bottom, goes up and across to halfway point when driving on freeway after a stone is kicked up.

I believe the problem is with the eyesight driver assist if this is associated with the cruise control. I have the car set at 3 car lengths & use cruise always. On the highway when cruise is set to 70 - with or without following another car - i will look down and i find myself going 85 miles an hour.this happens every time i drive on the highway. Other problem is the safety feature of staying in one's lane.i have never had to hold onto a steering wheel to keep control over the vehicle like i do now.it over-corrects and i have actually been thrown into another lane.this is most dangerous on the highway.i have had this problem since getting the car and have reported it and have been blown off by subaru dealership where i bought the car as well as a local subaru repair shop

Driving on highway and windshield spontaneously cracked 3 inches. No impact from rock. Haven't driven since and it's now cracked halfway across the windshield. Definitely a defect.

We bought our 2019 subaru outback in may, 2019.before we had 1000 miles, a rock hit the windshield and cracked it.first replacement/recalibration. The vehicle was sitting in the garage in february 2020 when i noticed a crack across the windshield.a secondreplacement/recalibration.this morning (8/24/2020) when i got in my car in the parking lot to return home from md va i noticed my third cracked windshield.i will be replacing it soon.i have comprehensive coverage through geico, so i have no out-of-pocket expenses, but i believe that something must be lacking in the design or quality of the windshield to have it crack three times in 15 months.

Within two weeks of driving my brand new 2019 outback, i had an 10-to-12-inch crack in my windshield. I am an incredibly careful driver and had only been driving on paved roads at moderate speeds. I also was driving a passenger around during this time period and neither one of us heard a sound (e.g., a rock or pebble flying up and hitting the windshield). I have absolutely no clue how i could have gotten a large crack within the first ten days on the road, especially since neither i nor my passenger encountered any sort of road condition or environmental/weather condition that might have caused it. It just mysteriously appeared in the windshield one day. I have been confused for the past 6 weeks but then i heard that there had been similar issues with subaru windshields, and i believe mine is simply defective. I cannot afford to fix it, and this repair is not covered by my extended 10-year warranty. The subaru dealership connected me with safelite, which gave me an estimate of over $1500 to replace the windshield.

My windshield have been replace 3 times in the last 8 months do to stress cracks henderson glass is not going to replace them again they are saying that is a manufacturing issue. Please help this cant be happening i already pay $600 for it

Battery totally dead upon entering and attempting to start. Windscreen commenced to crack while traveling.

When i drive my new 2019 subaru outback with eyesight (one month old) on highway, a truck runs over rocks and they hits my windshield.then the windshield has chips and cracks.the cracks grow larger than a dollar bill in few minutes and one crack is larger than 22 inches in few hours.it seems to me the windshield is not well made and does not have good quality.it is not safe.

Windshield cracked, for no apparent reason, while parked in my driveway, and had to be replaced.

The windshield cracked in multiple places after being hit in the center by a small rock.

Spontaneous crack in windshield noticed and reported to subaru on 9/13/19. I was driving in the late afternoon. No vehicles near me when i heard a "pop". Vehicle purchased new 8/24/19.

I have owned this vehicle since late may 2019 and i have had to replace 4 windshields due to cracks that developed from both minor rock strikes and when nothing has damaged it.

Windshield spontaneously cracked.subaru replaced under warranty and about 5 months later the replacement also spontaneously cracked.subaru has claimed "outside influence" caused the replacement to crack and has decline to replace again under warranty.both times the cracking happened during a snowfall while parked in the driveway.

Driving on highway with no one around at 7 am on sunday at 75 mph the sunroof exploded. Our sun shade was closed so all glass was blown across roof taking paint with it. Subaru replaced under goodwill not warranty.

Windshield seemingly cracked without any provocation/collision. Crack occurred while vehicle was parked away from traffic, and requires windshield replacement.

Windshield has cracked two times in the 3 months i've own the car. I was on the highway a tiny stone hit the windshield and it ran all the across immediately. I had it replaced and the same thing happened. Just not normal.

Dead battery even when i take the car out for short drivesi read it's causes by electrical problem that drains the battery

The windshield all of the sudden cracked. There was no impact, nothing hit the window, it just suddenly cracked and keeps getting larger. Started on the very edge of the window on the passenger side and crack is now grown to the middle of the windshield

I am submitting a formal complaint regarding the subaru windshield class action lawsuit.i am the fleet manager of a large company.we recently purchased about 30 2019-2020 subaru vehicles including the outback, forester and legacy.approximately, 1/3 of them experienced a random windshield break.all of them have been replaced.3 of those replaced, cracked again. I've received no assistance from subaru and my drivers receive no warranty assistance from the dealerships.i'd like to speak to someone to add my complaint to the growing list of other complaints.i understand the lawsuit could take some time before a final decision, i want to make sure our vehicles are included.thank you

Purchased a brand new 2019 subaru outback 3.6r limited with eyesight. With less than 23 miles on it, the windshield spontaneously cracked just sitting in the garage. Researching the web shows this is a problem with subaru outback.

The car was not used over the weekend except for a 5 mile trip to church where it did not encounter any rocks, hits, etc.drove home and the car windshield was find.the next morning when i got into the car, after i used my remote to start and warm up my outback, there was about an 8-10 inch crack in the windshield that originated from beyond the windshield wiper on the passenger side of the car.the crack grew worse to about 12 inches.called subaru dealer who directed me to their windshield service agent.took time off from work and they installed oem glass (insurance covers this) and calibrated the windshield. After driving home, the car made wind tunnel noises, windshield fluid system did not work, navigation did not work so i brought the car to the dealer (took more time off from work). They found a leak in the windshield, repaired the fluid unit and ignored the navigation issue.they sent me back to their agent.they took out the windshield repositioned it and sent me on my way. Today i found puddles of water on the floor of my car (leak), navigation does not work and wind tunnel noise is still there.this windshield is supposed to protect the driver and passenger as extra support for the roof, prevention of objects flying at you and allow for the eyesight system to do its job.this car is one month old and the crack in the windshield experience sounds eerily similar to others' complaints.when you pay the money for a top safety pick, you want the safety and i do not have it.

Had my new car for 2 months and was driving about 50 miles an hour on the freeway, in the far right lane to prepare to exit.heard a sound from the right front of the car, then noticed a very small crack in the upper right side of front windshield and thought a rock was kicked up by another car but saw no objects and there were few cars driving near me.it seemed odd and unsafe that a windshield could crack from little to no impact.over the next day, the small crack expanded to about 12 inches.spent $847 to replace the windshield and re-calibrate eyesight.

Front windshield justcracked on a parked vehicle from the mid level on the passenger side. Searching online found many complaints from other users having similar problem. Have just 6000 miles on the car and it has been just 5 months since i brought the new car.

The glass windshield is defective. This is the second i have had to replace in a year. I came out to move my car and noticed a crack across the windshield. I park in a private driveway and no cars were around it.

I purchased a 2019 subaru outback in december 2018 and have had to replace the windshield three times in just over two years (june 2019, november 2020, april 2021). I owned a 2006 subaru outback for over 10 years and never had to replace the windshield. This is a safety risk and a design flaw and it needs to be corrected.

I was driving on the freeway and my windshield cracked at the passenger side bottom as the crack traveled up the windshield. I did not notice anything hit it.

Bought july 6 @subaru of port richey found it had 1 unrepaired recall on it, subaru wuh93 nhtsa's #19v493000, days after i had taken possession. They sold me as new a car with a recall giving me keys and sending me home. Subaru has confirmed all dealers were notified of the recall wuh93.have all documents and copious e-mails, to uphold my claim. I want them to be held accountable for breaking u.s.c 49 - 30112(a)(3). C.f.r.301120(i)and selling, and delivering(keys) a vehicles to an elderly couple, with safety recalls on it, to drive home,. And then days later notify me of the recall.

I just experienced my second windshield breakage and was not hit by a rock, object, etc. Both times i was driving on an interstate (i95 in florida). The first time (2019) was mid afternoon, low traffic pattern. The most recent time (nov 2020) was approx 5:45am on interstate 95 north headed to work. There was no traffic in either direction for miles.

Windshield has spontaneously cracked four different times since purchase in september 2018.windshield has been replaced three times to date. Each time damage appears to start near the bottom of the glass, then spiders out. It is not clear that road debris or any other external force caused the cracking. This is a known defect and should be corrected by subaru with a re-designed part.sending the same windshield over and over does not fix the inherent problem. Your form does not allow for multiple incidences of the same problem over time.please see attached documents. Are you working with subaru to correct this problem?

While driving down a state highway on 9/26/19 at 55 mph my passenger and i heard a small little tick sound and she said, "that's the same sound my crosstrek made on monday when it chipped and cracked the windshield".so we started looking around the windshield and sure enough now mine was chipped and cracked at 5 weeks of age, both vehicles were bought new.then a few weeks later, 10/12/19, on an interstate at 70mph another small, insignificant tick and i start looking around and again, same thing.yesterday (as of this post) on a state highway at 55mph, right in front of me this time the same small tick sound yet another chip and crack!i've hit bugs harder than these hits that are producing chips and cracks!! both my 2019 crosstrek and 2019 outback now have multiple chips and cracks in their brand new windshields and none of them are from legitimate impacts with a stone or rock.

Windshield crack appeared overnight on the 4th day of ownership. The crack covers 1/2 the windshield and is growing daily. Naturally it can't be fixed because no one has the windshield for a 2019 subaru outback in stock or available by order. No visible chip damage apparent. Note there are multiple class action lawsuits against subaru for this identical problem.

Crack appeared in windshield with no apparent cause and quickly expanded, requiring replacement. First noticed crack while driving on city street. No visible nick, nothing appeared to have hit windshield prior to appearance of crack.

Our subaru 2019 outback suffered a crack during normal usage on the interstate at approx. 50 mph. The crack occurred two days ago (on 5/2/2021) and has since grown due to the vehicle's vibration during use. The vehicle qualifies as a make and model under recall by subaru for windshield defects.

I purchased my outback in april of 2019.while i was driving on a highway, my outback's windshield cracked in june of 2019 and my local subaru dealership replaced the windshield during the summer of 2019. Then while i was driving on a highway in july of 2019 the windshield of my 2019 outback cracked again.subaru outback's replacement windshields are no better than the original windshields.they are defect as well.my 2019 subaru outback's windshield has cracked twice in an 14-month period.

The windshield cracked on its own. No impact. Research says there is a class action lawsuit for this defect. Vehicle stationary.

Since may of 2019 we have had the windshield replaced and eyesight calibrated 5 times. We drive the same route with both vehicles (other is not subaru) and no damage to the other vehicle for at least 6 years now.

While driving home, on a highway, had a small rock hit my windshield and with in minutes my whole left side was cracked, now it's almost the end of the right side.

I purchased a 2019 subaru outback four months ago and am now on my third windshield. I have been driving for 35 years and at best had a small chip on my windshield. 4 months 3rd windshield. Not a chip but totally shattered. With the eyesight technology in the car it's very expensive to replace. The first windshield was hit by something that grazed off the windshield. The second i came out in the morning and the windshield had a two foot long spit down the center of it.

I was driving at approximately 45 miles per hour, coming down from a mountain range and just reached the bottom. I crossed a cattle guard and my sunroof shattered. I do not believe i rock hit as the dealership believes as their was no one directly in front of me and i was in a remote area of arizona. I believe the sunroof shattered for either no reason or possibly change in elevation and temperatures. This is not safe. Luckily my shield was closed, but the sound alone was startling and could have caused an accident.

Windshield has cracked for no apparent significant reason.this was noticed in the morning upon getting in the vehicle and starting to drive.

My windshield seems to crack/chip unreasonably easy. The first crack was a few weeks ago. I didn't see anything hit it. It jsut started crack. This morning, i got another chip and it's now spreading also. I now have two cracks in my windshield and numerous chips!

I was picking my son up from school when the crack started, as i sat in the parking lot it continued down and across the center of the windshield. There were no chips or dings to be found. I do believe it causes the forward crash indicator to trip sooner than it should.

Unknown three times in five months when the car has been running and then turned off it won't start again for 15-30 minutes.everything regarding the engine is locked.can't even put in neutral to move vehicle if in traffic.

Vehicle was parked for four and a half days in a public garage, with which i pay for monthly parking. Upon my request, vehicle was waiting for me to pick it up. The vehicle seemed to be intact.just after leaving the garage, i used the front, then the back wipers to clean the windshields. The back (hatch) windshield completely shattered into the vehicle.nothing hit it, no accidents with other vehicles or objects occurred. While no one was hurt, the incident was alarming. The integrity and strength of a vehicle's windows/ and windshields are important. There was no prior warning or alert.

The windshield on my 2019 subaru outback cracked out of nowhere while i was driving to work. There had been nothing up to this point that would have resulted in the windshield cracking. There were no chips or dents previous to the cracking.

Front windshield sustained a small chip in the upper area behind the rearview mirror and has subsequently turned into a huge crack extending across and down the passenger side. There was a previous class action lawsuit for the 15-16 outbacks regarding the windshield. The fact that the windshield is cracking this easily from a small chip leads me to believe that they did not fix the issues from the previous 15-16 model year windshield design.

Windshield cracked while car was stationary

There was always issue with the brakes, not able to control the speed when needed.spoke with the service agents and they mentioned everything is good.but i had experienced the speed issue in several occasions.

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated that while stopped with the vehicle in drive and idling, the rpm's revved up and the vehicle independently accelerated forward. Open road subaru (2685 us-22, union, nj 07083, (908) 686-6160) was contacted and were unable to identify the cause of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 12,000. Vin was not available.

A couple days ago when i was driving on a back road and using cruise @35mph, the car for no reason suddenly started breaking as if to avoid a collision.nothing was in front of me, not even an oncoming car at a distance.no one was behind me.my response was to manually apply the brake and that kicked out cruise.i haven't had it happen again.is that something that can happen when using cruise at low speeds?if it were to happen at highway speeds, it could be quite dangerous...

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. While the contact was exiting a car wash, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and drove over a curb. The front driver's side wheel was flattened and the vehicle stopped after the contact turned to avoid crashing into a wall. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be repaired after the claim becomes approved by the insurance company. The contact spoke with subaru of kings automall (9536 kings automall rd, cincinnati, oh 45249, (513) 583-9300) and was informed to have the tire repaired by an independent mechanic. Afterwards, the dealer would have the vehicle towed to them for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact back to the dealer. The failure mileage was 4,300. *dt

Stop at a light some times when the green light come on an the vehicle in front move the vehicle accelerate and not only at red lights some times when following vehicles my vehicle slow down and when the other vehicle move my accelerate by himself

I experienced sudden and unintended acceleration as i sat outside my garage idling with my foot on the brake waiting for the garage door to open.my car accelerated forward through my garage door and into the garage.it swept aside a refrigerator, freezer and a 700 pound safe that was bolted to the concrete floor.it finally stopped upon pushing several things against one of the i beams that hold the steel building up.the car also tore out the i beam support the side of the garage door upon entering.the tires continued to rotate until i turned off the engine.

As i was reversing out of my driveway riding the brake the car accelerated full throttle and wouldn't stop. The result was i hit a tree. I am thankful it was not a pedestrian or another person.

2019 subaru outback. Consumer writes in regard to design or malfunctioning of technology. The adaptive cruise control failed to maintain adjusted speed. *as the consumer stated while driving the cruise control was set to 45mph at which point, the vehicle speed up and crashed into the car ahead. The pre-collision brake system did not activate.

Unknownit was parked in the garage for 2 days, when i came out there was a crack in the windshield.

Warm sunny day. Left work, driving home, heard a pop and there is a 12" crack in the windshield that starts at the top and goes down from there. No stone/rock hit,

Constant smell when using windshieldwipers (front) and washing fluid. Have brought it to the dealer several times they assure me it is normal. I have never had a car with this issue. I believe there is a leak somewhere that is causing this issue and it may be a design flaw.

The windshield cracked on its own. No impact. Research says there is a class action lawsuit for this defect. Vehicle stationary.

We have had our 4th windshield break on our 2019 subaru outback. We believe these to be spontaneous cracks, not the result of a chip or other impact. The most recent happened while car was parked (not a hot day) out in the open.

We have had to replace 2 windshields on our vehicle and 1 on a loaner while ours was in shop for window replacement. Also while our car was in shop having 2nd windshield replaced, they had to delay giving us ourcar back stating the windshield shattered while being installed. That is 4 windshields in 30,000 miles. The smallest ding in these windshields cause an immediate crack from side to side obscuring visibility making them dangerous to drive.on these cracks you can see the windshields are incredibly thin.there is clearly an issue with how these are made and immediate safety hazard. I also believed the cost of these replacements should be made clear to consumers at purchase due to the extremely high cost associated with replacement.

Our new 2019 outback experienced a windshield crack while driving without any indication of impact of a foreign object. The crack appeared immediately after turning on the defog system while driving. The local dealer insisted that the crack was due to outside influence and not windshield material failure. After contacting subaru of america the windshield was repaired as a courtesy at the dealership.

Car was parked in covered car port overnight.in morning, a horizontal crack had appeared in front windshield.crack is 18-24 inches long.running from passenger side pillar to area near center of windshield.about 18 inches up from dash

Windshield spontaneously cracked. Mid way up on the passenger side, just like half the outback's i see on the road. 2014 and forward model years pitched the windshields at a lower angle, making the windshield opening in the body larger and more susceptible to flex when the frame racks going over bumps. (maybe the sealant is too rigid.)

I was driving down the road and heard a loud crack. I didn't think anything of it because i didn't see anything at the time. A few days later my wife was driving the car and heard a loud crack and looked at the windshield to see a crack forming across the windshield. It reached almost to the driver side view way. There was not a point of impact it started on the very edge of the windshield out of sight from inside the car. I thought maybe a rock came out of no where and that is what my wife told the insurance company when we got it fixed by safelite, then i saw the notice about the defective windshields and told me to file the claim that is what happened to us.

My windshield cracked spontaneously while the car was parked in a ramp. The crack is at the lower passenger side.

Windshield crack appeared near the top, by the driver assist camera.unknown how it occurred.owner assumed caused by rock slung by another vehicle on the highway, but crack was not noticed until many days later.insurance replaced the windshield, but a subaru dealership charged $270 for eyesight re-calibration.

While parked over night in my suburban boston driveway the windshield developed a foot long crack up the middle from the bottom edge

Windshield spontaneous crack under wiper deicer connection vehicle was stationary

Windshield spontaneously cracked during the year's first freeze. Car was garage parked and no impact occurred. Subaru provides no support for this issue, so i'm just going to drive around with a broken windshield and take on the associated risks.

I have owned my outback for 6 months.in that time i have had my windshield crack 2 times with no apparent damage.the first time was 2 weeks after ownership, driving down the highway, not impact from anything and it just cracked.second was tonight, driving home i heard what sounded like a large drip, next thing i know my windshield is cracked on the bottom near the defroster.i looked along the crack and their is no chip or evidence of impact.

Unexplained cracked windshield.

The vehicle has had windshield cracks appear three times in the six months we have owned it (purchased new).both the dealer and the glass repair shop indicate that this is a common problem for this model.in the first two instances, there was a minor impact with a small pebble or bit of sand at city speeds (less than 40 mph) and in the most recent incident, the crack appeared suddenly and without obvious impact while driving on the interstate at 70 mph.none of the impacts were sufficient, in my estimation, to cause damage significant enough to require replacement of the windshield, but, in all cases, the crack spread across the entire windshield within moments.based on other reports on the internet, it would appear the windshield on these vehicles is poorly designed and/or manufactured, creating a safety issue.

While driving on a highway my grandson asked about a "line"in the windshield. I had not noticed it but there was a six inch crack extending downward from the top edge. From the driver's side it was obscured by the rear view mirror. Within two or three days it had curved in an sshape to about eighteen in ches in length. Nothing had hit the windsield while driving and i had not driven on any rough roads.

While the vehicle was parked, heard a pop and witnessed a crack start and progress both vertically and horizontally staring at the bottom center of the windshield and has continued to extend several hours later.

Windshield chipped while doing 55 on highway. Small rock was thrown up by passing vechicle. Outback was only 9 hours old and had 42 miles on the engine.

Windshield is cracked across passenger side to middle of windshield.. Was driving at highway speed and it spontaneously cracked . The crack grew over a course of about 2 weeks..

I was driving into work ona smooth road in clear conditions when i heard a pop.windshield had a large star bust and crack spreading from the center.nothing hit the windshield.there weren't any extreme temps (it was about 60 degrees out) and i didn't have the heat or ac on.

I was returning to drive my car after sitting stationary in an apartment parking spot for two days. Upon entering my vehicle i noticed a crack to the middle of the windshield across the driver sideextending to the center. I inspected the outside, with no noticeable chips or other issue areas. The cause to me is unknown.

I was driving down the road, no cars in front of me, and i heard a click. I looked around and noticed a 3' crack in the windshield. The crack has since grown to 24'

My windshield cracked below the wiper.it started dead center and crack spread rapidly.research shows other subaru owners with the same issue. Subaru will not admit to a defect. Vehicle was in motion. No vehicle was in front of me

Windshield cracked without external cause as i was exiting the garage.

While driving home, on a highway, had a small rock hit my windshield and with in minutes my whole left side was cracked, now it's almost the end of the right side.

2019 subaru outback front windshield suddenly developed a crack for no reason. I was driving on the highway, holding a smooth steady speed, and was actually looking at the location where the crack started. I heard an audible sharp "crack" sound and i saw a 6" vertical crack suddenly appear in the windshield starting from the bottom middle of the windshield. There was no reason for the crack to develop -- no rocks or pebbles hit the windshield, no other cars were nearby, and no external object came into contact with the car. I had just purchased the car a couple of weeks earlier. Over the next few days, the crack spread sideways left and right in the form of a t. Except for the initial crack, which happened while driving, the expansion of the crack has happened when the car has been sitting in my driveway. I was sure i was not at fault for the cracking, so i went online to search and i found plenty of similar complaints from other subaru owners (see https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t82803_ds994225). This seems like a common problem that was not disclosed at the time of purchase of the vehicle.

2 windshields have cracked without an obvious cause. Occurred at 2,000 and 7,000 miles.

2019 subaru outback 2.5i limited purchased 1-'19.1st. Break:2-'19: windshield spontaneously cracked under wipers at the wiper defroster heater element.windshield was frosted in am, started motor and defrosters to warm and prepare car for departure.windshield cracked while car was stationary in the driveway.made appt. With subaru, they declined responsibility under warranty and advised to have insurance replace it.while waiting for second appt. With a different dealership a small pebble impacted upper right corner so i just had insurance cover it as it was very unsafe to drive with at this point. (3/27/19 insurance replacement with orig. Subaru windshield- $500 deductible, $225 eyesight recalibration).2nd break: 6-'19: while driving 50mph on 2 lane road a gravel truck passing in opposite direction dropped a very small pebble that would have not broke windshield on my toyota or mazda based on previous experience in similar situations.small pebble impacted windshield in upper left corner and immediately spread across and down in several spots requiring replacement (6/10/19 replacement under 20/20 glass warranty).required additional 3rd replacement as subaru supplied defective rubber stripping for second replacement.now windshield area creates additional wind/road noise and new rattle in dash as result of 3 replacements.i have pictures of the windshield first break however they will not upload.contact me if you need them.they show the 'burn marks' at the heater elements.

I had parked try 2019 outback for work on a public street. When i got in after work and closed my door, the rear glass shattered and about 1/4 of it fell into the back of the car. I inspected the interior of the car and the outside area where it was parked, looking for some sign that maybe someone had tried to break in or vandalized it. I found no sign. I then pushed more of the shattered glass inside my car to improve the rear visibility, and drove to a glass repair store.

My windshield seems to crack/chip unreasonably easy. The first crack was a few weeks ago. I didn't see anything hit it. It jsut started crack. This morning, i got another chip and it's now spreading also. I now have two cracks in my windshield and numerous chips!

I purchased this vehicle brand new march 2019. I developed a crack that started at the base of the windshield, closer to the passenger side, that quickly spread throughout the windshield 3 months after purchasing and with less than 6k miles. It appeared to be from a small stone chip. The point of impact was very minimal and i have had other vehicles that have had much larger chips that have 'spidered' but never spread as rapidly as this crack on my new outback. I worked with my insurance to have the windshield replaced, total cost was over $800. I drove the car 4 times in 3 days aftergetting it replaced, all on paved roads. This morning i developed a crack at the top of the windshield right in the middle that quickly spread throughout the windshield again. Their appears to be a small sandstone chip that may have been the reason for the crack. I am taking it back to the place that replaced it and hoping it's covered under the warranty of the recent replacement. This issue needs to be resolved by subaru because it sounds like it's a very common problem.

I got a brand new subaru 2019 suv in second week of may 2019. Car has around 5500 miles on it. Windshield developed a crack that i observed when i got into my car next morning. Overnight car was parked on my drive way. There are no trees and i dont see any rocks hitting. It cracked out of no where

2019 subaru outback the mileage running 22k has cracked the windshield, there's no mark rock chips. Just i found the cracked window while driving.

Small rock hit lower left corner of windshield, approximately 2 inches from edge.continued driving.suddenly, entire windshield cracked across approximately 70% of glass within 5 minutes, obstructing view.initial impact was tiny chip, barely visible without close inspection.normal driving conditions, highway, 60mph, dry road & weather, before sunrise.single owner vehicle, 10k miles.complaint also filed with subaru.

The windshield cracked without any external event while the car was parked. The rear view mirror which is attached to the windshield sheared off completely.the car was parked in a driveway, this occurred during the day in may after owning the car for a few months.

The windshield cracked after less than a month of ownership. It started from the lower passenger side below the wiper on the heating element. It manifested one morning before i left for work in late may. My dealership refuses to replace it, claiming it was a rock, though there are no chips or spidering. It's a single long crack that winds across the windshield. When i asked them how it could have been a rock without a point of impact, the response from the service manager was "rocks can do funny things." my 2016 impreza had its windshield replaced with this exact type of crack under warranty.

The windshield spontaneously cracked in october of 2018 while driving on i-64 on my way to work.the windshield was replaced and again cracked in nearly the same location in december of 2018 while driving on i-64.this windshield was replaced and in july 2019 cracked again while driving on i-70.

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the lower passenger side of the windshield began to crank without any impact. The contact continued to drive to his residence. The contact called local dealer royal moore subaru located at 1326 se enterprise cir, hillsboro, or 97123, (503) 640-5660, and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 2,510.

Windshield made a sound that sounded like it was hit by a rock or pebble, yet no car was around for a rock or pebble to cause it to fly through the air.the windshield cracked at around the edge of the windshield and within a couple of minutes, the crack extended to around 12 inches.after an hour, the crack extended to across the majority of the windshield.this is the 3rd windshield that had to be replaced.either the windshield has extensive stresses or it's manufactured too weak and can cause a safety hazard.

Windshield cracked- started as a small crack andnow has spread over the windshield

Windshield cracked with a long 9'' crack while sitting in parking lot. It was not under a tree or any stones.

I ran some errands one evening and parked my car with a completely crack free windshield, and when i got back to my car, the windshield was cracked from the passenger side and there is no evidence of impact to cause the crack.

Windshield cracked for no reason.

On 4/10/19 as i was getting into my car, i noticed a huge crack on my driver side of the windshield that starts from the base running toward the center of the windshield.the car was bought on jan 20th of 2019 and has 4200 miles.called safelite and they are estimating $1300+ to replace.

On two separate occasions, something was kicked up and hit the windshield of the vehicle. Both time an immediate crack was sent throught the windshield. Both times were on an highway, traveling about 45mph. I have had things pop up and hit my windshield in other vehicles and maybe they just chill or star . I feel there is a significant difference in the strength of the glass that is used, in this vehicle i feel it is extremely weak.

I was driving on the highway and heard a crack, then saw a large crack on my windshield! after the car had been parked, the crack continued to spread.

I took delivery of a 2019 subaru outback in mid-january 2019. In march (03/12/2019) a small rock hit the drivers edge of the windshield resulting in a large crack. I worked it through my insurance and the windshield was replaced by a third-party installer working directly with the local subaru dealership. At the time, i had only 2k miles on the vehicle.in may (05/09/2019), a small rock hit the replacement windshield and there is now a large crack. The windshield will need to be replaced. The vehicle had less than 5k miles on it. I've had two (2) broken windshields before i have even had my first oil change.my previous vehicle was a 2007 subaru outback. I drove it for 12 years and 235k miles and never had a cracked windshield even though it had been hit by countless rocks and had numerous chips.two windshields in three months suggests the problem is with the modern glass that is designed to work with the subaru eyesight system.i wrote and asked subaru to replace the second windshield as a warranty item but they declined.both incidents occured while driving on paved highways.

I parked my car in a grocery store parking lot for 30 minutes. When i got back in the car, there was a large 't' shaped crack- about 12 inches in height and 10 inches wide- from the base of the windshield up. My windshield had not experienced any rocks or blows from driving before parking- this was a spontaneous crack with no reason for occurring.

I have had 4 windshieldcracks on my 2019 subaru outback since purchase in march 2019.the vehicle was on the highway all 4 times and was hit by a rock.this cannot be normal- i had a honda civic for 7 years and 150,000 miles and no cracks (even though rocks hit it many times).

Front windshield cracked overnight while in garage. No visible impact on windshield. Subaru service manager said there was an impact after he pushed his pin into crack. Still no impact. I previously attempted to send you a photo but it failed. Send me an email address and i will resend it direct, rather than keep rewriting this missive. The windshield is thin and appears defective and dangerous to driver and passengers.

September 20, 2019.i was driving to work surrounded by an open field and nothing else.a spontaneous fault appeared in my windshield.on the way home the same day, a second one appeared out of nowhere and without anything striking the windshield.overnight the second fault grew long cracks from it which we noticed.this is clearly a manufacturing fault.i feel badly because it is my first subaru purchase and have been mostly delighted so far.there is no impact to the car's windshield, and the damage spontaneously appearedin two places just hours apart.

Spontaneous cracks appeared on my 2019 subaru outback with 10104 miles.no impacts have occurred to vehicle or windshield.vehicle was parked when cracks discovered.vehicle is parked outside in the driveway and has been driven very low miles since the covid-19 outbreak.the first crack runs horizontal and positioned about half way up windshield and a little left of center (towards driver's side).the second crack is a crescent shaped crack approximately 4 inches below the horizontal crack.

Windshield spontaneously cracked. Has happen twice. Both times vehicle was stationary, parked in a garage. Windshield was in perfect condition. Not the result of a impact.

The windshield broke without having anything ever hit it. Came out to car one morning and there was a large crack across windshield starting from the base center of the window. At this point i had owned the car less then 6 months.

Windshield on our 2019 subaru outback cracked for no apparent reason.

Windshield cracked while driving.within a few minutes the crack line on the windshield had moved in all directions and some parts are in a 'shattered' pattern.in all of my years of driving (44 licensed years) i have never experienced a cracked windshield and discovered that this is a defect of the manufacturer.for subaru to claim they are one of the safest vehicles on the road, overlooking the importance of the windshield is ludicrous.

I had my windshield replaced in march 2019. Got a rock chip in the replaced windshield fixed under the warranty program through subaru. Three days later i come out and the fixed chip spread a foot across my windshield and is rapidly growing. Subaru is not taking ownership of weak/faulty glass and the frame that the windshield is installed into. I have had two other vehicles for over ten years that never had a cracked windshield, let alone a rock chip that violently spreads. I did not purchase a new vehicle to spend $1000+ on a replacement every year.

Front windshield cracked on its own last saturday (4/3/21) while parked outside my business. No signs of any damage elsewhere on the vehicle and none of my employees saw anyone near my car.*dt

Bought this vehicle in 8/22/2019 and the windshield cracked while sitting outside of our carport on 10/27/2019. The crack extends from the top passenger side across to the left side of the mirror on the drivers side. Feeling the top passenger side it feels like the windshield is uneven on top like there might have been stress on it.

Spontaneous crack in my windshield. No impact every noticed. I noticed when i was driving at dusk and used my windshield wipers to clear rain. I saw a glisten at the bottom and was surprised to see a crack.

Windshield on 2019 subaru outback with approximately 10000 miles cracked with crack extending into the field of vision.while driving on a local highway, the windshield was apparently hit by a small stone in the lower left corner of the windshield below the wiper causing a very small chip that could only be felt with a fingernail.the vehicle was parked and upon returning, a crack had spread downward to the edge of the windshield and up and to the left across the field of vision.upon investigating, we found many reports of recent models of subaru suv's experiencing windshield cracking, particularly in this area of the windshield with either a very minor impact or even no impact.a subaru tsb was issued in 2015/2016 covering this problem but it appears the issue has not been fixed in model years from 2017 to 2019.

Please review and escalate this manufacturing defect. The same issue resulted in a class action lawsuit in california. I purchased my 2019 subaru outback on 12.31.18. After work in mid april of 2019, i returned to my parked car. Unlocked and entered the vehicle from the driver's side. I lowered the sun shade and noticed a large crack in the front windshield. It started at the bottom edge of the glass on the driver side, arced up and curved towards the passenger side of the car. No other damage was noticed inside. I got out of the car and checked it for any additional damage and checked the windshield from the outside. There did not appear to be any other damage than the cracked windshield and a miniscule left passenger door ding. As if the edge of another car door came in contact with my subaru. No road hazards or debris was encountered on the way to or from work. I notified the dealership, hiley subaru of fort worth, and requested to have the windshield replaced during my next service appointment indicating this was a manufacturing defect under warranty. At the service appointment, they declined to replace the windshield under warranty.

Spontaneous windshield crack that originated directing underneath windshield wiper on passenger side while parked outside. Windshield was cleaned hours before crack appeared, and no imperfections were observed; vehicle not driven or moved. Got in vehicle in evening and crack was present expanding almost the entire side of passenger view.

I purchased a new 2019 subaru outback in august 2019. A large crack developed in the windshield in june 2020. I replaced the windshield. 10 days later another large crack developed across the windshield. This was replaced on 7/2/2020. I have spent about $1000 so far on windshield replacements for a car that is under one year old.

I bought my outback new at the end of august 2019 and since then the windshield has cracked 3 times and i have had to replace it all 3 times. I was driving all 3 times. Twice i believe a pebble hit the windshield but the third time nothing hit the windshield.luckily when i bout it the salesman suggested i get the extended windshield insurance. Now i know why. There is something that needs to be done with these windshields, they are dangerous.

Front windshield cracked overnight while my 2019 subaru was sitting in driveway. Crack is at least about 18" long. It may have started from a rock/pebble hitting windshield while on the road, but i didn't hear any rocks or pebbles hit that side of windshield while commuting and crack was not present prior to parking my car for the night. Temperature didn't fluctuate significantly enough overnight.

The windshield developed a large crack starting from the top-center edge without knowledge or signs of impact.the crack was not there in the evening and was over 6" long in the morning (vehicle parked in fully enclosed garage overnight).

We sustained a cracked windshield from a small stone impact while traveling at 60mph on a multi-lane highway. The road and weather conditions were good, with no obvious debris on road, and only passenger cars in front and next to us suggesting stone may have come from another cars tire tread. The impact left a small (~1mm) crater on passenger side about mid-way up and ~2 inches from edge, but generated a curved crack nearly a foot in length (and still expanding) and reaching all the way to the edge of windshield. I owned a 2007 suburu for over ten years prior to this vehicle and sustained many minor gravel impacts especially post-winter storm and never sustained damage requiring windshield replacement. Likewise with over 40-years experience with numerous cars i have never seen a windshield fail given impact by small stone. This is clearly a defective component and presents significant safety issue. The cost for replacement is high because sensors require original equipment from suburu and chance of subsequent failure is also high given replacement would likely also be defective.

Windshield in my vehicle cracked twice within 11 months of owning this vehicle due to little or no cause.i had to pay for the windshield out of my pocket.

After owning the vehicle 2 months, the windshield cracked for no apparent reason. The windshield was replaced on jan. 12th, 2021. On april 9th, the windshield cracked again for no apparent reason, this time on the driver's side. Both times the vehicle was in motion but didn't get hit by anything

The front windshield spontaneously developed a large crack, necessitating a replacement of the front windshield. The problem was first noticed when the vehicle was in motion on the highway, but since the crack was on the lower part of the windshield, it is possible that the crack occurred when the car was stationary and it just wasn't noticed until the car was in motion.

Windshield seemed to spontaneously crack while driving on a residential street at less than 20 mph. I heard a pop, though i did not see anything hit the windshield, and a crack about 22 inches long immediately appeared on the left side of windshield. The crack is about halfway up, and starting on the left edge. Upon inspection there is a very tiny chip, about the size of a poppy seed, near the edge of the windshield, but no other evidence of the windshield being hit with a rock or other object.

Received two chips in the windshield - one in the first two days of owning the car and another one two weeks after. Both chips occurred at moderate speeds - one on a freeway entrance ramp and the other on a freeway exit ramp. The chips seemed to have been caused quite easily with minimal impact. There have been no further chips since nor have the existing chips been repaired or cracked yet.

Front windshield spontaneously cracked while vehicle was in motion on highway.no other vehicles around car, no bugs hit windshield, nothing hit front of windshield.audible loud "pop" then visible crack that started from driver's side edge of vehicle extending horizontallyinto driver's line of vision.driver was startled and driver's vision impaired from crack.vehicle driven less than 10 times, purchased on 5/16/2020, stored in garage and covered parking structure.

My windshield was cracked starting under the wiper blade, at the lower center of the windshield, and cracked upwards about 5 inches, and spilt in two different directions. One length about 9 inches and the other side about 12 inches, and the cracks seem to be extending. The car was parked in my driveway. As i see it, around the crack there are no cracks, dings, chips, or any marks. The look of the crack doesn't resemble different shatter. My car is a 2019 vehicle that only has about 10,000 miles so quite new.

Small chip in windshield, quickly developed into a crack all the way across

Cracked windshield starting at the driver's side edge and continuing over 50% of the windshield horizontally. Vehicle was parked in the driveway during this time.

Was driving down the road in castle rock co. Nothing hit by windshield or anything.next thing i know. Large crack is forming from the bottom left of the windshield from the edge.

Large windshield crack appeared spontaneously while car was parkedand grew larger when car was parked. Subaru dealer insisted it was from an impact, but none were visible. Dealer said new windshields were thinner and more prone to cracking and i might have it happen on a regular basis.

For the second time in less than a year the windshield cracked and ran across the windshield. Unknown what caused the crack as we didn't notice road debris hitting the windshield. The 1st time the windshield cracked top passenger side and the car was moving along the hwy and we noticed a run from the top of the windshield that ran across the passenger side. Car had 4000 miles. Windshield was replaced. The second time, the car was stationary when we noticed a crack at the top middle of the windshield that started to run across the drivers side. The car is garage kept. An aside we had a subaru tribeca 2007 for 12 years and +200k miles with only 1 crack windshield that never ran.

Went to go start my vehicle that is parked outside in our parking lot complex, and it was about 15 degrees outside and their was frost on the whole front windshield. I opened the driver door to start the vehicle and noticed that there was frost on the bottom half inside of the front windshield as well. All other windows and doors had been closed. I started the vehicle up to begin defrosting the windshield and scraped the outside front windshield. Upon completing this, the frost on the inside was still there but slowly melting away from the heater. We have owned the vehicle for 20 days and it had 6,350 miles when purchased. Currently has 6,940 miles when this defect happened.

Spontaneous crack in windshield noticed and reported to subaru on 9/13/19. I was driving in the late afternoon. No vehicles near me when i heard a "pop". Vehicle purchased new 8/24/19.

On the morning of 1/10/21, when i started the car in our driveway for the first time that day, i noticed a spontaneous crack on my windshield beginning from the driver side edge and continuing diagonally up and towards the passenger side. It was about 8 inches long. There was no indication that anything had fallen on the windshield nor any point of impact. This is the 3 or 4th time this has happened since i've owned this car.

We bought our outback new in june of 2019 and in the past 6 months have experienced 2 cracks in our windshield despite ever being hit with a rock or other debris. Both cracks appeared after being parked over night.

Windshield cracked in multiple places. First crack occurred 1 week after purchase of brand new vehicle. Multiple cracks occurred occurred while driving. Last two significant cracks occurred while car parked.

Windshield suddenly cracked while driving down i-17 at no time did i hear/see a rock strike the windshield.

Windshield cracked, vehicle was only a couple of months old.windshield cracked while we were sitting in a parking lot - the defroster wasn't on and there was nothing that touched the windshield.car was parked and the crack just formed spontaneously, 2 people witnessed the crack in real time.started vertically from the bottom center of the windshield, went up approximately 5 inches, the spread sideways about 12 inches in either direction.

Less than a month after purchasing vehicle a chip on passenger side of windshield occurred, probably from a rock kicked up from road. I never bothered to get it fixed as it didnā€™t effect my ability to operate vehicle. On 07/25/2021 a rock struck the windshield. The next morning i discovered a large crack near the rear view mirror. On 07/28/2021, i had the windshield replaced. Several days later another rock struck the windshield on the driverā€™s side, and caused a chip, which was directly in my field of vision. I brought it back and they repaired the damage.

Just put in a complaint on 3/6/20 for a windshield problem on our 2019 subaru outback.while driving today, four chips appeared on windshield after driving past work being done on the road.didn't even hear or see anything touch the windshield.going back to safelite where a new windshield was installed last month.this is not a safelite issue, but a defect in subaru glass for the outback.i've been driving for 38 years and only drove gm cars before this and only had 1 windshield replaced after an accident never because of a pebble hitting itthere are articles about the defective glass online and lawsuits, but subaru doesn't want to take responsibility for this.maybe it's time for another lawsuit or get rid of the car now.can't afford a new windshield every month.

Windshield crack midline lower black band stretching ~9 inches bottom up noticed 2/23/20. This is the second oem windshield and was installed 12/19/19. First windshield was factory installed and had a rock chip that spread over entire passenger side of windshield. Subaru has a windshield problem.

My 2019 subaru outback's windshield crack with no reason, i parked the vehicle my driveway about 3 pm with no damage and when i was on my way to work next day at 5 am i realize the crack. The crack started from the lower portion of the passenger side and it grew day by day almost reached all the way to the other end. I contacted subaru customer care via email on 5/21/2020 but still got no response. I also took the vehicle to local dealer in temecula/ca i almost kick out from there, as soon as they see the crack they didn't want to help or give me information. All i wonder is, it is been covered by warranty or how should i handle to repair because of eyesight. The vehicle has less than 12k miles on it and still under warranty.

While sitting stationary in my driveway, i heard a pop noise and looked up and saw a spontaneous crack on my windshield. It began at the black portion of the windshield, driver side, lower half. It traveled about 5-7 inches within the first hour.

Windshield spontaneously fractures from drivers side edge in the shape of a curly bracket.first windshield was replaced nov 2019 due to stone facture - legit breakage. Second windshield march 2020 suddenly cracked from drivers side midway up the window from drivers edge across drivers view while sitting still on a freeway in rush hour as the temperature changed (micro storm in phoenix) a loud bang and the windshield split from the drivers edge across.third time july 2021 sitting in the garage window spontaneously cracked over night from same area driver side midway up forming the same partial bracket like shape. Crack also appears to be the same height up from the bottom of the windshield. Never had so many broken windshields on one vehicle in my 35 years of driving.

Less than 5 months old and the windshield randomly starting cracking on passenger side under viper.i have not known anything to hit the windshield.the crack has now moved over the center of the windshield.

One month after purchasing the vehicle in early 2019, a small rock hit the windshield while driving on the highway. 1-2 days later the crack grew large and the entire glass needed to be replaced. Recently the windshield was damaged again with a small rock while driving on the highway, and i'm afraid i'll need to replace the windshield again. Subaru failed to disclose material facts and a safety concern when i purchased the vehicle about the weak windshield.

I was driving my brand new subaru outback 2019 with less then 1200 miles on it and i noticed a crack in the center bottom of the windshield.the crack worked it's way up from the bottom.i did not hear or see any impact to the windshield.i immediately reported the issue to my local dealer and subaru of america (sr #:1-46794058270).the service manager at my local dealer was convinced the glass crack was caused by an impact and said they would not cover it.i had to go through insurance to get the repairs fixed.there seems to be a defect with these windshields that needs to be investigated.

Subaru windshield easily cracks.within a few weeks of purchasing the vehicle, a crack formed beginning at the top of the windshield near the rearview mirror and spread down.since replacing the windshield with an oem part, 3 more large cracks have formed.while some have begun from a small rock chip, they originate from the edge of the glass and spread inward.the glass appears weak as even the smallest chip will cause a large crack.the car is not driven any differently from current and previous vehicles owned yet the amount of chips and cracks we have experienced in the windshield in the less than one year of owning the vehicle exceeds the amount of chips and cracks we've had in the lifetime of our other vehicles.

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated that the left driver's side window was cracked while parked from the bottom curving up halfway the window. The crack later expanded all the way to the bottom. The contact stated that the crack was not caused by a foreign object. The vehicle was taken to subaru of wichita (11610 e kellogg dr n, wichita, ks 67207 (316) 264-7777) to be inspected. The contact was informed that the crack was caused by a foreign object and that the replacement would not be covered. The contact was informed to have the vehicle repaired by a windshield company. The windshield was not replaced. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.

I've owned my 2019 subaru outback for <2 years and in the last 6 months i've had the windshield cracked twice due to small pebbles while driving on the interstate highway, which have never cracked any of my previous windshields in 16 years of extensive driving around the country. In other cars, i have had many pebbles and small debris hit my windshield with nothing more than a small chip. With the subaru outback, both cracks became large fractures, blocking visibility.due to the eyesight system and necessary recalibration after windshield replacement, the first replacement cost nearly $900. Currently, i am driving with the second crack because i can't afford to replace it yet. These incidents happened november 2020 and april 2021.

I just got some interesting details today from my video registrator.it shows that we parked our car last sunday at 5 30pm (everett, wa). There wasn't any windshields defects showing on the video. After we took it back on 8 30pm, there is that prominent crack on the windshield already.now, if it was some vandal causing it, then it's not clear why he/she would do such a minor harm to the car (a thin, 5 inch crack on the right middle side of the windshield), it doesn't look like it. If not - then it's obviously not a stone, cause the car was standing still... Plus, my video registrator's manufacturer claims that the camera is recording any movement in front of the car even when the car is turned off - well, there weren't any movements detected... I have requested the buildings around if they have any video registration system that could have tracked this time period.i'm more than sure that the window cracked on its own and have the following material - 3 photos of crack (different scale), videos before and after our trip to everett, where it's clearly seen that we didn't have any windshield defect before parking and that it appeared during the parking period.

We were driving on a residential street at approximately 25 miles per hour. The passenger slapped at a mosquito with his open hand and the windshield cracked with a loud sound and with a spider web pattern on impact the passenger's hand was not red, did not hurt, and did not develop a bruise. This was high in the upper right hand corner and the cracks are spreading across the entire windshield. The car isa 2019 subaru and has less than 9000 miles on. It was purchased in september 2018 and was not driven during the winter monthsthe windshield was free of any dings or scratches. This is being reported because of our concern that if a simple slap on the inside can break the windshield, a rock thrown by another vehicle could come through the windshield and hit a person. We have a windshield replacement guarantee so the windshield will be replaced at no cost, but we are not comfortable having it replaced with an original subaru windshield. I have pictures but i cannot get them to download to this site.

Windshield cracked while parked in our garage, for no apparent reason. Crack is within visual field of cars safety-related obstacle detection system cameras.

The windshield spontaneously cracked from the mid-center of the windshield while parked. The crack began in october, 2019, less than a year after purchase. There was no impact causing damage and the crack began while the vehicle was parked.

Windshield cracked for no apparent reason. When i parked the vehicle in front of my residence, the windshield was fine. When i came back after parking the vehicle overnight, the windshield was cracked.

Windshield broke while parked. Resulting in a $1000 cost to replace and recalibrate safety cameras. Car was stationary, parked in my garage. Car never struck by stones or other debris. Windshield was less than 12 months old. Crack started from the outside molding across the windshield.

I was driving down the highway and my windshield cracked on the bottom left or drivers side. There was no impact on the windshield of any kind. No traffic and smooth highway. Temp was around 66 degrees. Started out as a 5 inch crack from the bottom up and had a very small divot. Then spread to a 10 inch crack very quickly. I called the dealership and they said crack was caused by outside force due to the tiny divot. They say the only way for a divot is impact with a outside force. That is not a true statement. A small divot can occur from a stress crack of from spontaneously cracking. The eyesight technology does not work with any other windshield, you must buy the factory windshield. I do not feel safe driving my car with a subpar windshield. Please help in this very serious safety issue being ignored by subaru. I have zero confidence in the new windshield. This needs to be addressed.

We were driving on the highway when our windshield cracked. We aren't sure if the crack was created by a rock or not because we didn't see anything happen. It just cracked and split and as we drove, it continued to grow. It's about 9 inches at this point.

While driving under normal highway conditions in fair weather, a large crack appeared in the windshield on the drivers side, starting at the bottom near the wiper, and extending approximately 10-12 inches curving up and toward the center of the windshield. There was no apparent impact or noise prior to the crack appearing. The crack compromises subaru's eye-sight safety feature as well as the integrity of the windshield in general, creating a significant safety hazard for thevehicle occupant(s). I have filed a claim with aaa pending service with subaru which is scheduled on 01/13/20 (attached confirmation from aaa)

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, a pebble hit the front windshield and crackedabout 10 inches of thepassenger side glass. The contact felt that the material of the windshield was not safe. The contact called an independent mechanic who provided a quote for glass repair. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 5,500.

Brand new 2019 subaru outback windshield major cracking damage from small stone impact or just a bump in the road while driving? unreasonable and not right at all.

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked the windshield cracked. The contact stated while driving between 40-45 mph the windshield experienced another crack. The vehicle was taken to subaru little rock, ar located at 12121 colonel glenn rd, little rock, ar 72210, to be repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 18,000.

2019 subaru outback purchased 2/20/19; took possession 2/22/19. On 4/14/19 two very large (18-24in)cracks, rapidly spreading appeared as i started up my vehicle. One crack started about 2 in above the lower corner on the driver's side. Approximately 2 weeks before this crack appeared, a very small piece of gravel struck the windshield in this area but no damage/cracks/holes were visible on close inspection following this. The second crack originated approx. Midway below the wiper apparatus on the drivers side. There had been no rocks hitting in this area previously or other damage. Again, both cracks started after the vehicle had been immobile overnight in my garage; the temperature that morning was in the high 40s (48f) and immediately occurred on starting the vehicle and spread within seconds to 18-24 inches arching across the driver's side windshield. Since, the cracks have continued to spread approx 1-3 inches per day. In contacting the dealership, they deny any issues with subaru outback windshields. This is unlike any windshield cracking experience i have had and does not appear to be due to rock damage, other external damage.

A spontaneous crack appeared on 2019 subaru outback. What started out as a spell crack, about 4 inches long, has now progressed to almost 12 inches in a day.

Windshield cracked while parked overnight, nothing apparent came in contact with it to cause this.

The windshield randomly cracked after spraying the windshield washer fluid on it. The crack continued to grow bigger throughout a couple days and reached a length over 1 foot by the second day. The vehicle was stationary when it was sprayed with the windshield wiper fluid.

The windshield of my car cracked by itself while it was parked at the parking ramp at work.

Windshield spontaneously cracked at the base of the windshield, under the wiper blade while driving on the highway. I was not following any vehicles so a rock chip could not be the cause. This is poor windshield quality and design by subaru.

The windshield cracked overnight while it was parked. Started from the passenger side, a long line of crack with an unknown cause. It also has several rock chip cracks on other areas. These damages happened all within one year of ownership.

When stopped at an intersection on 9/27/2020, the windshield spontaneously cracked. Neither my wife nor i saw anything physically strike the glass.

I was driving on a side street with no cars around and my windshield spontaneously cracked right near the passenger side wiper (bottom of the windshield) and it grew into 3 long cracks that are over a foot long.i honestly do not believe a pebble hit my windshield because no cars were around me.in reading online it seems like many owners of subaru outbacks have hit the exact same issue with their windshield cracking in the exact same spot.

Windshield has spontaneously cracked twice in 6 months, once when driving down an in town road, once when sitting in the parking lot all day while i was at work.

I have had to replace 2 windshields in 6 mos.i have never experienced this many damaged windshields.the offending incidents both took place on the highway.

I have a 2019 subaru outback purchased dec. 26, 2018. On sept. 28, 2019, i noticed a small star like crack, about 3/16 ths of an inch in circumference on the driver's side of the front windshield. The crack was about one inch in from theedge of the windshield near the roof post. The next day, sept. 29, 2019, the star had radiated into a crack which ran all the way into the center of the windshield. At the time the car had 4,615 miles on it and it had never been off road. I took it to the subaru dealer where i purchased the car and was told the windshield was not under warranty and was referred to a local windshield repair/replacement shop.on sept. 30, 2019 i had the windshield replaced at a cost of $ 395. I then had to take the car back to the subaru dealer to have "eyesight" system re-calibrated at a cost of $ 206.i don't recall the windshield being hit by anything on sept. 28,2019 and the star chip was not there when i left home that morning.

Windshield cracked after small rock hit it. This should not have caused any damage.

20" crack across driver side spontaneously appeared in windshield with no damage. Warranty denied by subaru

Driving down the interstate the front windshield sounded like a pebble hit it even though there were no other cars in front of ours. Later that day, the small mark cracked two more inches along the drivers side. Within another day the crack has now extended for approximately one foot in one direction and another foot in the other direction, in a circular pattern.

I had been having problems with the driver side windshield wiper that when raining there was a section in the middle of the wiper that didn't touch the glass to clear the water.after getting tired of this, new wipers were put on hoping to solve the problem.no difference was seen in the removal of the water when raining.it seems that the glass was concaved in certain spots causing the water to pool under the blade and not be removed.a few weeks later, out of know where, a slight mark was noticed on the glass under the passenger side windshield wiper. This vehicle has heated strips under the blades to defrost ice.after touching it, it didn't seem to be chipped. The next morning when i went out to the car, there was a vertical crack in the glass going up and grew very quickly before i could get to a subaru dealer. It then turned direction heading towards the driver side.

I went to drive my car and noticed a large windshield crack that is getting larger. There was no trauma or event that caused this to happen.

Crack in windshield after being hit by bird dropping just above the rear view mirror.crack spread to 6-8 inches and needs to be replaced.

The windshield cracked on the passenger side with no explanation or impact leaving an 8" long crack and nothing hit the windshield to cause this to happen.

Windshield cracked for no reason

Purchased new 2019 subaru outback.when parked in the garage overnight after just a couple weeks a stress crack began to form from the top of the windshield going down.the next day it was outside on a hot day and the crack began to get worse.no impact on windshieldfrom rock or anything else.may be caused from heat?vehicle was stationary in both cases.

I had a cracked windshield after less than 2 months ownership of my 2019 outback.i contacted subaru and they said it wasn't covered under warranty and that i would need to replace it with subaru parts, and have the new windshield synced with my "eyesight" so it would work properly. Frankly i couldn't afford to spend that kind of money so i just went and got an after-market windshield.i was on the freeway when it hapened, out of nowhere.meanwhile i am out almost $400 for something i think should have been covered by my warranty.i own 2 subaru's ...both 2019,and felt like i wasn't treated properly by subaru.

While sitting at a stoplight, i heard a loud cracking sound and noticed a large crack had begun to form from the side of the windshield.nothing had fallen onto, or hit the windshield, it seemed to just crack for no apparent reason.

Windshield cracked while sitting face forward in driveway. Took it to the dealership in peoriaaz who denied liability. I pursued with subaru and they said they would pay (1 time only).dealership took photo's. Date of 8/8 is approximate but was the same day i paid my 1st car payment.

Crack appeared on windshield without any prior damage to the area while driving. Started below windshield wiper on driverside and continues for 24" across the center of the glass in a curved 40 deg angle.

Substantial windshield crack with no visible previous damage.vehicle was parked outdoors at approximately 2045 central time on 8/15/2019 facing west.at approximately 0900 central time on 8/16/2019 vehicle had a substantial 7+ inch crack descending from top of the windshield directly above and descending vertically down from near the driver eyesight camera. This is unacceptable behavior for glass which is meant to protect the driver and provide a view port from which most safety systems of the vehicle operate.

Just experienced my second spontaneous crack within four six months where the windshield needed to be replaced on my 2019 subaru outback.the crack starts at the bottom of the windshield below the wiper blades and the crack expands upward approximately 12-18 inches.it is beyond meshy these windshields have to be replaced so often and it is my opinion they are made with materials that cannot stand up to day to day temperature changes of new england.the car was parked all weekend and had no crack.however, on monday morning, the crack was there.

The windshield started to crack and we have no recollection of any impact on it.

In sept of 2019 i was driving, heard a popping noise and then when i stopped the car a few hours later saw a 12 plus inch crack from the side of the windshield.by the next morning it was well over 24 plus inches.dealer said something must of hit it. I chalked it up to bad luck and paid the nearly $1,000 to replace and recalibrate it.this past monday my son was driving the car, no damage in the windshield when he left.he heard a slight pop and when he returned home a few hours later almost 30 plus inches of cracking. It began at the base of the windshield on the passenger side. Both times this happened was on a highway with no other cars nearby.the dealer has examined the glass and tells me there is an impact they found by running a pen down the crack. The supposed impact is no larger than the tip of a pen.something is wrong with this glass.i don't believe there was an impact, but even if there was, should the windshield crack beyond repair immediately.this cannot be safe.i have called national customer service and opened a case.

While stationary at a red light, on a city street, the rear windshield spontaneously broke. The breaking was unprompted as no object was heard or seen to have hit the windshield; a review conducted by the local authorities of nearby camera footage confirmed this as well. The same issues noted by many others in the third class-action lawsuit filed against subaru regarding their faulty windows exactly describes our situation. The local police were called on the day of the incident to file the report. Additionally, a call to the subaru dealership was made, in which they stated they were "unaware" of any issues with their windows. The insurance company would not pay for the repair, causing us to pay $837.99 out of pocket. Documents can be provided should they be needed to further this complaint.

Came out of work to find a large crack in my windshield that wasn't there when i got to work.now have to have windshield replace and eyesight cameras recalibrated.

I was driving on the street, not freeway. Very clean road and my windshield cracked without me noticing it happen or hearing any object touch my windshield. I had music very low, yet ehard no rock. Was going about 35 miles.

Windshield cracked too easily (on road) for a vehicle marketed for "offroads". No covered under warranty. Seems to be a common issues for the vehicle. No recalls or acknowledgement from subaru usa.

Had to have my windshield replaced twice within two months on a car less than a year old. Both times subaru and the glass company claimed that the cracks were due to chips in the windshield when there was no evidence or damage, chips, etc prior to the cracks. After the first time my windshield cracked july 2019, i was very skeptical and checked my windshield every night after work to ensure there was no damage. One morning i woke up to find a large crack in my windshield without any prior evidence of chips or damage. Once again, the glass company and subaru claimed it was due to a chip when there was no evidence of such false claims. I also had my replaced windshield checked multiple times at a subaru service center during oil changes and service appointments. Each time they found no evidence of any damage to the windshield. The glass company that replaced my windshield both times tried to cover their [xxx] by claiming windshields are made thinner than they used to be, which i found quite suspicious as if they were trying to make excuses for having two windshields cracked within 2 months. First time was in july 2019 and the second time was september 2019. Both times i was forced to pay a $500 deductible to have my windshield replaced and my eyesight calibrated to the new windshield as a result of poor quality glass and replacements. Both time the cracks were discovered was when my car was parked overnight without any prior evidence of any windshield damage. They were discovered in the morning with a large crack which continued to get larger throughout the day and ended up taking up a large field of view.parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

2 cracks in the front windsheild appeared on both sides of the rear view mirror. Did not notice any chips before the cracks started. The car only has 10000 miles on it and there are 2 separate cracks. The car was parked in the garage when the cracks appeared.

I was driving on the highway and a little pebble hit my windshield leaving a small chip (smaller than the size of a dime). I parked the car and within an hour, this chip kept growing into a large crack. Over only a couple days it had spread to crack all over the entire windshield.

Windshield is too soft as i two places that have cracked and one that chipped.the items that hit the windshield were small and shouldn't have caused the damage they did.i've had other vehicles that were hit by much bigger debris and no damage.windshield is substandard. All damage occurred while driving on the freeway.i can provide photos but i did have safelite repairs two of cracks.

While driving on a highway i'm january with few other vehicles around a crack started to grow from the lower right passenger side of the windshield. It crawled to nearly 24 inches in length. We were never hit by a rock or any other debris. This is the second factory installed windshield on our subaru. The first windshield cracked in july 2019. The windshield was struck by a small rock and cracked. We had that windshield replaced at the dealership.

Small chip in windshield on highway turned into large crack requiring whole windshield to be replaced and vision system recalibrated.

I was driving on a highway when a chip suddenly appeared on the windshield on the left side on the windshield.i thought this was strange considering i was in the left lane of the highway with a large median and no trucks near me.over the next hour the chip turned into a 6 inch plus crack.i have since had the windshield replaced under my car insurance policy.

I was driving at low speed and my windshield cracked due to unknown reasons. This happened second time on my car within 12 months.

I have had this vehicle for about 6 months and have driven it less than 6,000 miles. It was parked in my driveway with no cracks or dings in it as of two days ago and coming out to my car this morning there is now an 18 inch hairline crack. There is no impact area and no rocks have hit my windshield while driving it. I have to believe this is spontaneous breakage, especially reading these other complaints. The windshield has not been touched and the weather has been mild. This is unreal.

The windshield cracked for no reason while driving on a highway and needed a complete replacement.

Windshield cracked while vehicle was parked in the driveway (not moving).

We were driving our subaru outback with 1100 miles on it on the highway on sunday may 26, 2019 - there was not much traffic and no one was in front of us.we noticed a crack in our windshield and at first did not think it was a crack.when we got to our destination we looked at the windshield - only to find what was a 4 inch crack.nothing hit the windshield it just cracked. The crack started on the passenger side of the windshield below the wiper blade (as others have stated also)at the present time the crack is about 18 inches and has gone from the passenger side of the windshield to the driver side and has taken a turn now back to the passenger side.know that others have voiced similar problems with the subaru outback from 2019 as well as earlier years of the model.feel as though subaru is responsible for this issue.

The windshield has taken more rock chips and cracks than any other windshield i've had. I was told i had to have my windshield replaced by their certified groups due to the eyesight system and they wanted me to replace my brand new windshield for $1500. I just bought the car in july. September a rock hit the windshield and it was on a sunday and there wasn't a repair shop open on sunday and when i came out the the car monday morning it spread over 2 feet. I'm reluctant to replace since i know i will catch another rock as soon as i shell out way too much for glass.

Second spontaneous crack in 18 months.

Went out to garage to get into my 2019 outback and noticed crack on driver side of car. Starts down low all the way to the left and tracks up and over. Crack was not there when i parked the car the night before.

Purchased outbackwith 6k miles 8/2019 have had to replace 3 windshields 1st was small chip when driving that grew almost instantly to approx 2 feet after 2nd replacement drove home parked in garage woke up to crack across middle of window originating driver side a pillar half way up went back to safelite they suggested to contact subaru . I feel this is poor quality material windshield

Passenger side window stopped working and the windshield had cracked for no reason and i had to replace it.

I was driving on the freeway and my windshield cracked at the passenger side bottom as the crack traveled up the windshield. I did not notice anything hit it.

Broken windshield - twice in 5 months traveling the same road that i traveled with a 2007 jeep and never had a broken windshield in 13 years.i believe these windshields are to thin and are subject to cracking.the first time i was hit with a very small rock, barely a ping, the 2nd time i was hit with a larger rock, but way up near the roof which shouldn't have caused a broken windshield.i have been driving 54 years and this is the first auto with such a sensitive windshield.i will sell this vehicle if this happens again.

Steering system/car feels unstable at highway speeds especially when windy.center display control buttons don't always function.windshield has cracked without road hazard incidents

Windshield spontaneously cracked all the way across while driving on the interstate.

On two separate occasions with a currently owned vehicle (2019 subaru outback with eyesight) and a loaner vehicle (2017 subaru forester) from the same dealer endured windshield cracks, both spontaneously. For my current replacement i paid out of pocket to have it fixed, for the 2017 forester replacement i had to go through insurance to pay the full amount. For the 2017 forester windshield insurance claim, this was part of the reason i was not allowed to renew my previous car insurance, which now costs me significantly more, yearly.

Vehicle had two spontaneous cracks within the first 1700 miles of use.

2019 subaru outback purchased in october 2019. I have experienced cracked a windshield 3 times. I've had 3 new windshieds replaced. My first windshield replacement was 2 months after purchase. Two weeks later, that windshield cracked and was replaced. About 8 months later, that windshield cracked and i had it replaced last december. I drove for about 3 months as it slowly cracked across the whole windshield. Then it was no longer safe to drive it.the first time the windshield cracked, i was driving and the dealer said a little rock had hit it. All 3 times, the point of impact was pointed out to me. They were very tiny spots on the windshield. While driving, i was not aware that anything had hit the windshield. I flinch every time an automobile or truck passes me on roads or the freeway i am so afraid that some little bit of debris will hit the windshield and crack it once again. I've replaced three windshields in about 13 months.

The front windshield on my 2019 subaru outback spontaneously cracked in the area of the deicer strip at the bottom lower right portion of the window. I was driving the vehicle at the time on a state highway. The vehicle was purchased brand new from wilde subaru in waukesha, wi. I contacted the dealership and they wouldn't do anything about the problem.

2019 subaru outback purchased december 2018, sand strike chipped and cracked the windshield within one month.this morning as we were driving down the street with no other traffic my wife noticed a crack forming and growing up from the bottom of the windshield on the passenger's side.the crack is now 17" long

Back in first week of january, i was commuting to work via interstate. There was a bump since the roads are uneven and going over the bridge, as soon i went over i heard a crack. I saw there was a crack on the windshield from the top of hood, up to front of the rearview mirror. Since then, it slowly got worse.

Broken windshield. There has been no impact and there is no sign of impact yet my winshield on a 5 month old car is cracked. Its approximately 10 inches and circular from the top down behind the rearview mirror. I noticed the crack while parked. Possibility after going through a car wash. Also the heat from being parked on the hot driveway may have brought out the flaw.

Windshield cracked across drivers side with too long cracks while driving on the road.replaced and paid for by myself and my insurance 1/13/20

Windshield cracked about 10 inches while driving in cold weather with no apparent reason while driving about 55 mph on highway with defrost on

Eyesight windshield broke while driving on a freeway in light rain.no known cause.crack continued expanding for 2 days in warm, dry weather.had windshield replaced on an insurance claim with safelite and they also calibrated the eyesight cameras.

Front windshield cracked spontaneously while car was parked and not in motion.spider cracks radiate out from under the rearview mirror assembly.no evidence of any damage from external source (i.e. Flying debris).

I was in wyoming for a little trip at the end of november. It was only 22 f outside in the morning. Car was on a parking spot. I always warming up my car before driving. I did put defrost on for about 15 minutes, to melt down little bit of ice on windshield. When i got in the car and closed the door, the crack from the bottom of the windshield almost at the middle appeared. About 20 minutes later, that crack split in two directions. At this moment, one little prolonged chip of glass came out at the point of split. I went to one of the subaru dealership with this issue. I was told that the dealership doesn't cover windshields, and that i have to go to car glass shop and do it on my own. So, later on i went to another subaru dealership. They told me the same thing, but also, they were assuring me that the crack happened because of something hit the windshield. They didn't even wanted to listen, what i was telling about how it happened. Now i having frequent false alarms for lane departure and obstacle on the way.

The front windshield spontaneously cracked. It was snowing, we had the wipers going and the vents to defrost on. On our 3 minute drive to work, while we were stopped at a stoplight the crack formed, and then spread. It covers nearly the entire width of the windshield. At first we thought it was a water streak - but it did not follow the path of the windshield wipers. We did not hit a rock or a bump in the road, there was no debris on the road, there was no hail, there was no reason to explain the crack. We immediately took it to the subaru dealer which we purchased the car. They told us that this was not covered under our warranty and that we would have to purchase a new windshield from subaru and then have it installed by them. We needed to do this so they could re-calibrate the eyesight system.i am incredibly frustrated that a 2019 vehicle requires such an expensive windshield repair after no faulty driving or clear incident that caused damage. We were quoted $1700 to replace and recalibrate.

My wife and i driving home eastbound highway 50 and noticed small crack in windshield glass under windshield wiper. Never heard or saw anything hit windshield and there were no other vehicles in front or behind us. I have owned many vehicles and the windshield usually will get a small ding when hit hard by rock or pebble but will not crack. This crack started at bottom on windshield underneath the wiper.

My vehicle was parked in my driveway.i came out of my home to get ready to drive when i noticed the windshield cracked.it begins with a vertical split of the glass with no sign of a point of impact from debris.cause:unknown.i called the dealership and explained that i had not been driving nor had a rock hit my windshield.they said that it would take them a week for them to get a rep and service manager to inspect.the crack had since grown by the time they saw the vehicle.they said it would not be covered under warranty to replace the windsheild.

Three weeks after i purchased this car brand new the windshield cracked and had to be replaced.

Windshield spontaneously cracked. Parked at a convenience store, nothing around the vehicle, came out and noticed a crack from the a post into the middle of the windshield. Happened on a saturday, attempted to call insurance company and was told i had to wait until monday.

Windshield cracked while the car was off and parked in the garage.

The day i drove the car off the lot, i noticed a chip on the windshield right in the line of view that i did not see during the test drive. I took it to get repaired by a reputable company and they noticed 4 seperate chips. They performed the recommended repairs and replaced my windshield wipers. When the weather became cold in houston, i noticed a new chip that had a crack form down the upper right quadrant on the windshield. I thought someone had physically damaged the car, but upon examination there was no evidence of such a thing having happened.

On september 8, 2019, between 3-4 pm, i was taking the sun reflector out of my front windshield when i tapped the rearview mirror. Soon after tapping the mirror, i heard a large pop from my front windshield and the rearview mirror fell with a large chunk of glass coming out with it. The hole did not go all the way through the windshield, the outermost layers of the glass window were still there, but several layers were missing leaving a 2 inch by 2-inch hole gap on the inside of the window. The vehicle was purchased on july 31, 2019, so i only had the vehicle for a little over a month. I contacted the dealership/sale person that i had worked with right after it had happened and they got me in to have the issued fixed on september 13, 2019. He agreed that what occurred should not have happened with the car being pretty much brand new. When i went into the dealership about this issue, they said they were not aware at all of any issues with their vehicles' windshields and they had never heard of anything like this ever happening before. The vehicle was parked when this occurred. It was a warm day, with the air temperature when the incident occurred sitting around 91-93f according to the koun weather station. The warm temperatures might have contributed to the problem weakening the point of contact with the glue and the windshield. This is speculation though and the mechanics with the dealership could not provide a source or reason as to why this could have occurred, so the true reason for the incident is unknown.

I came home from work, went through the car wash, and the next morning i had a crack on the driver's side of the windshield. Nothing made contact with the windshield either on the drive, or at the car wash.

Woke up on saturday february 20, 2021 to find windshield of our 2019 subaru outback with a crack in it for no reason.we didn't drive it at all since february 20th and today the crack has spread even further (see attached picture).this cracked out of the blue with no force to cause it and have no idea why this would happen.so i then googled subaru windshield and have found many people are having this same issue and that's why i'm informing you it has now happened to us.

Windshield cracked for no reason. No chip or damage. Hampers eyesight safety system. Not being covered by subaru despite multiple other complaints listed on nhtsa and lawsuits in news.

There is a small crack in the windshield on the left side or driver's side of the car. The crack or defect appears to be in between the glass.

Windshield cracked from left inside lower passenger side. Vehicle was driving down road. I did not see anything hit the windshield. It immediatelymade an s shaped crack

I was picking my son up from school when the crack started, as i sat in the parking lot it continued down and across the center of the windshield. There were no chips or dings to be found. I do believe it causes the forward crash indicator to trip sooner than it should.

We had our first spontaneous crack about a week after purchasing our outback in november 2018. I'm not sure where it happened but we had not had any rocks hit the windshield. The dealership claimed it was a chip (they used a ballpoint pen to inspect and i believe they created a small chip along the crack line) but they replaced it for free. The second crack occurred about a month after the new windshield was installed. I was driving at the time and heard it happen; there was no apparent road hazard that caused the crack.this time i didn't allow them to inspect with a ballpoint pen and, sure enough, they confirmed it was a spontaneous crack and subaru replaced the windshield for us. The third crack just occurred and i believe it is also a spontaneous crack that happened in a parking lot. There is no apparent chip. All of them start in the black area below the wipers. I wonder if there could be a defect in the structure of the car that causes undue stress on the windshield. I went to a local subaru dealership to have it inspected and the first thing they did was get their ballpoint pen out. I will wait to go to the dealership where we purchased the car and will also pursue issue with subaru customer relations.

While parked in my driveway with no trees or cars nearby, my windshield spontaneously cracked from the driver side all the way to the passenger side. I have found this is an ongoing issues with subaru involving a lost law suit in 2018, and a current 2019 law suit on going. There are nearly 100 complaints on nhtsa.gov, countless articles, and forums from 2019 subaru owners. In addition, my rear windshield fluid doesn't work. I have had several electronic issues including the touch screen constantly resetting, the voice activation turning on by self itself, and notification alarms going off for no reason (like obstacle in road with nothing there) just to name a few. When i went to the dealership to have them help with the windshield they were very rude and dismissive, they wouldn't even begin to listen to me often interrupting me when i spoke and refusing to help me with my issues. They instructed me to contact subaru directly since they won't do anything to help me. I am beginning to wonder if i need to pursue a lemon law case or if i can actually be helped at all with these issues. I am a longtime fan of subaru and was greatly looking forward to owning my own for the first time.

While heading home from a trip driving down highway 69 in michigan our windshield decided to start cracking. We did not hear any impact with the exception of the occasional bug. Of course taking it to the dealership the immediate response was.a rock or foreign object had impacted the windshield. Wrong. I have always feared when getting hit by a rock the windshield would crack. My wife actually witnessed the cracking process thinking at first it was rain again hitting the windshield.within 200 miles the crack escalated from a couple inch crack to almost a 2 foot crack starting to make a u-shape around the eye-sight camera system. I would hate to think a bug's impact would cause such damage.

The contact owns a 2019 subaru outback. The contact stated that while parked there was a crack that developed on the windshield on the driver's side from the top curbing down to right below the rear view mirror. The crack was not caused by an outside source. The vehicle was taken to (farrish subaru 10407 fairfax blvd, fairfax, va 22030 (888) 485-6484) where the vehicle was inspected and the windshield was replaced under warranty. The failure was experienced a second time. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 4,700.

Vehicle was stationary, parked at my house when i realized the back windshield was completely shattered. It was still in place because of the tempered glass. I opened the door to get something out of the car and the windshield fell apart into my car and on the ground. Under 7000 miles on the car.

My concern is with the quality and safety of the windshield on the 2019 subaru outback. I purchased a 2019 subaru outback on 12/31/18. It now has 3200 miles on it. On 04/17/19 i noticed an 8-10 inch crack in the windshield. There was a very small, barely noticeable, chip within the crack. At no time did i hear anything hit the windshield while driving. Therefore, a cracked windshield was shocking and entirely unexpected from such minimal contact with the windshield. When the car is not in use it is garage kept. My commute has not changed since buying this car and i have never had a car windshield crack in over 30 years of driving. Due to the size of the crack, the entire windshield must be replaced and the subaru "eyesight" system re-calibrated. It is my opinion that the windshield should not have cracked in this situation. A simple google search indicates that others have concerns with the 2019 subaru outback windshield.

I got a new 2019 outback in december. I have barely driven it. I finally took my family out and my passenger window cracked in two places while we were parked.

I was driving down the highway at 70mph and my windshield cracked on the bottom left or drivers side.there was absolutely no impact on the windshield of any kind. No traffic and smooth highway. Temp was around 30 degrees.started out as a 5 inch crack from the bottom up and had a very small divot.then spread to a 15 inch crack very quickly.i brought the car to the dealership with in 24 hours and they filed a claim with subaru. Within 4 hours the dealership called and said claim was denied. They said crack was caused by outside force due to the tiny divot. The dealership quoted me just under $700. Not being happy with that i called subaru customer service and they very quickly threw $500 at me to help with the repair.which does not cover the entire cost of the repair.these windshields seem to have a recurring problem with spontaneously cracking and subaru is brushing it off.the eyesight technology does not work with any other windshield, you must buy the factory windshield.i do not feel safe driving my car with a subpar windshield. I'm not confident that the new windshield they are installing will be safe.please help in this very serious safety issue being ignored by subaru. The dealership has the pictures of the windshield from when i brought it in. I'm trying to get them, i will forward them if i get them.

Front windshield cracked, first on the drivers side. Crack started halfway up near where it is glued and then spread out about 2 feet directly in the drivers view, very minor impact according to subaru dealer. Four days later an other crack started halfway up on the passengers side also near the glue point and then spread out about 2 feet directly in the passengers view. Crack are unrelated and according to the dealer both were from minor impacts although i can not see any inpact on the passenger side. Also neither crack was there when the car was parked for the night, both were discovered in the morning.

Large crack from drivers side, originating at the edge window frame near the side mirror and extending horizontally to nearly the middle of the windshield.the crack appeared sometime while the vehicle was not in use. There is no visible impact or deformation around the crack. The origin of the crack is not visible, it begins under the windshield trim.

The vehicle was stationary in my garage.the next day i came out and there was a crack in my windshield.it was completely fine the night before.

I purchased my 2019 subaru outback on november 23, 2019. On february 15, 2020 on a cold winter morning i was driviing to work and turned on the defrost to high and the windshield just cracked. Currently, the crack has traveled from end to end on the windshield. The cost to replace it is around $ 800.i feel that subaru needs to take responsibility because this issue is occurring way too often.it seems that the windshields are too thin. My vehicle is equipped with the eyesight system.

Driving down normal highway and noticed a crack forming. Windshield cracked near wiper from maybe some road dust hit it that is common on any highway. Never had such a big crack from normal road dust before.

Front windshield cracked while vehicle parked in driveway. Crack is in passenger side extending from side across and curving up. Had several windshield repairs near center of glass before. Mileage is just under 34,000 miles.

Spontaneous crack in windshield. I am the only driver of the car. It wasn't hit by gravel or anything. Crack just appeared one day above and behind the rear view mirror. Will need to have the eyesight safety features recalibrated when i have the windshield replaced.
