The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000. The vin was not provided.

Takata recall not recalled yet, do not know if i am at risk

I am not able to remove the key from the ignition when after i park my car and this happenevery other day since i started to have this issue.. I have to drive up and down and change the parking mode to different other modes using the gear stick and switch it back to parking mode in order to release the key. It takes me several attempt s of doing this to release the key from ignition.

The contact owns a 2016 subaru legacy. The contact stated that the key failed to release from the ignition switch. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to schulte subaru (7601 s minnesota ave, sioux falls, sd 57108, (605) 275-4040), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

I have had to frequently replace the battery in my car. My car is a 2016, and iā€™ve had to put four batteries in my car since iā€™ve owned it. Iā€™ve also had the wire to the alternator get so hot that it melted down the wire and the alternator, required an expensive replacement of both parts.

After placing vehicle in park, roughly 30% of times this is done, key cannot be turned back far enough to remove it. So far the only way to get it out is to restart car, shift through all the gears, and place it back in park. Sometimes this must be done 2-3 times. This started happening around 62,000 miles.

Wires and other components are made of soy based materials that attract rodents squirrels chipmunks and cats apparently and have been chewed;the harness was destroyed and potential damage to this and to power steering line, exhaust hoses and other wiring and parts with soy exist. The manufacturer states there is no remedy other than to replace with the same materials. We are concerned not only for financial reasons but particularly safety issues.when i turned on the engine in the morning every warning light on the dash was flashing including brake, transmission, oil, air, etc and i could not drive at all.i have spoken with others who have had accidents or car fires related to this situation.

Failure of the park-range switch resulting in the inability to remove key from ignition when shifter is in the park position.

I had to change my battery already as it wouldn't charge or start the car. Two fuses have been replaced. Also while driving, the computer display screen blinks, freezes or has gone blank. At times, i get an alert while driving that tells me 2 or 3 hours since vehicle ignition. These events seem to occur on long road trips with multiple short stops for refueling. If i stop the car and keep it off of around 15 minutes then restart the car, the screen will begin working again. The date entered on this claim is the battery change date.

The car was stationary and over time rodents (mice) chew on the electrical wiresharness due to the attraction of manufacturing material.manufacturing material is a soy base electrical wrapping.both occurrences happened at the same exact junction where wiring housing is attached to the engine. Evidence is first occurrence in november 2021, second occurrence april 2021. Antidotal evidence is thesubaru service department employee stated that this is a usual occurrence from subaru cars. Both repairs in less than five months charges are over $6000.

Key can not be removed from the ignition. It does not help turning the steering wheel to unlock it. Shifting in and out of drive/neutral/park several times will eventually unlock it. Has been happening intermittently for about 2 months and happens now every time.

In the process of turning off the vehicle; the car is in park, and the key intermittently gets stuck in ignition.

The 2016 subaru legacy ignition keeps jamming the key after the driver has stopped the vehicle and placed it in park. The key remains jammed and becomes difficult for the driver to remove. Keep in mind the tires are straight when the vehicle is parked and the key is not bent. This incident has occurred several times this month and has never occurred prior.

Battery drain after 2 years. Can be inspected. Not yet confirmed by independent sources or inspected by outside party. No warning lamps, notices, or cause for battery to drain (no lights on, all doors closed, etc). First happened one day ago, jumped the battery and quickly died again.

The key gets stuck in the ignition. Put car in park and can not get the ignition cylinder to turn all the back to remove the key

Key cannot be removed from ignition after placing car in park. Literally have to either slam car into park or start car and immediately shut it down. Problem started right after hitting 60000 miles.

Battery discharges very quickly and also isn't able to power up the vehicle on a cold day.the original battery on my vehicle (2016 model) was replaced a year (04/2018) before i purchased the vehicle as a cpo (june 2019), but on multiple occasions after purchase i had issues with starting up the vehicle and not having the battery charging despite having it run for 45 min or longer. I finally went to a dealership when in june 2021 since i wanted the battery replaced expecting that it would be covered under the 85 month pro-rated warranty for the battery replacement in 2018. However, i was asked to pay for the battery as the previous replacement was a "good will" according to the dealership and so was not eligible for a free replacement. Just from the history of the batteries in the vehicle, i'm not convinced of the reliability or the reserve capacity of the battery especially in cold conditions.

My battery keeps dying. I just had to replace it for the second time this year. Used 2 brands, one from the dealership and the other interstate. I had the alternator and starter checked but those are working. Something keeps killing my battery and would like it fixed. I have missed appointments and had my car towed having to pay over $600 to get it back.

Battery fully discharges when vehicle sits idle for more than 2 to 3 days.car does not start. I changedthe battery twice in 6 months time and havechecked alternator which is okay.subaru insists it's due to a 'non subaru' battery. The original battery that was exchanged was a subaru battery. The discharged battery has occurred multiple times in the course of 1 1/2 years.i have not taken the vehicle back in for this issue because they cannot solve the problem and charging me for service call.

Ignition key stuck in ignition.cannot remove the key, risk of theft or child entering vehicle and turning vehicle on.have not had it inspected, many forums online address same issue with subaru vehicles.subaru service bulletin 16-112-18r.

In less than 36,000 miles it developed a grinding noise that can be felt above 50 mph.dealer found a problem with the auto transmission.it will being replaced under warranty.strange, i thought subaru is known for better transmission.in the same car the cd player stopped working and making noise similar to what you hear when a cd is being ejected.dealer changed it under warranty.i received a recall letter on dcm software in the car & i took car to the dealer.however, this recall is not listed on web. Why?

My 2016 subaru legacy has a battery issue. I've had to replace it three times. Basically once a year over the past few years. It just drains and is dead. It happens mostly in the winter but not always. Subaru didn't think it was their problem. It is dangerous here in minnesota to have a untrustworthy electrical system. Recently i did have it brought to a non subaru shop. It had a new battery so they couldn't seem to find the problem either. I, or could get records as to my past battery purchases if need be.

Battery is being drained when vehicle sits.i have replaced the battery 2 years ago and is needing to be replaced again.

Vehicle is stopped, shifted into park and parking brake is engaged. Steering wheel is straight.key is used to shut off engine but will not move into the lock position and can not be removed.occurring 50% of the time.restarting engine and shifting through reverse/neutral/drive back to park has eventually allowed key removal.

Am able to shift into park and turn off the ignition but not able to remove key. It takes several tries to shift gears until able to turn the key to release it. This was happening for a while and stopped and has started doing it more consistently now.

Unable to remove ignition key from steering column without repeatably shifting car out of and back into park. Dealer charges over $400 to repair awell known defect which was issued a service bulletin in march 2018.

2016 subaru legacy will not release key from ignition even when car is in park. Will take several attempts and often requires forcefully putting gear shift in park for the key to release from the ignition. Problem is getting progressively worse and subaru of america is claiming no responsibility.

May of 2017 i was driving north bound on 294. As i was going through the curve the power steering light came on the car wouldn't turn back. I stop and was able to pull the car off the road with no incident.i called sis it's a d asked if was a safety recall. I was told no. I then had them to the car to subaru of america in orland park il. When the car was frosted told i was told the car would be fix it was common problem with the power steering motor.subaru of america then contacted me saying the car was involved in accident so it wouldn't be fixed.once they found out i was black.i filed a better business report subaru still denied the claim telling to use my insurance my insuwpuldnt pay said it defect part. Subaru failed to examine the underlying problem before denying the claim. Subaru immediately blamed me but never checking the problem.once i received the car back. It was in worst condition.the car cane back in worst conditions bumper peeling fender smashed. I was told that was my fault the car came back worst. That interfered with the other things in warranty being repaired l was diagnosed with big c. In 2017 now back to ok health i can proceed with process. I rented cars for a year and then eventually brought one. I need subaru to repair the car i want to keep it.

While driving, exhaust odor detected in cabin causing headaches/nausea and exhaust became much louder starting at roughly 185,000 miles. Discovered subaru service program bulletin wuj-95 which identifies cracks forming in the bellows section of the front exhaust pipe and its replacement with an updated front exhaust. Contacted subaru and requested it be covered under the wuj-95. This request was denied as my vehicle "already had the updated exhaust pipe". Purchased and installed the kit called-out in wuj-95 myself. Upon removal of the exhaust pipe, i was able to confirm visually that cracks had formed in the exact location identified in wuj-95. The "updated" exhaust pipe that my vehicle had failed. Contacted subaru several more times requesting this be covered . Coverage was denied. The "updated" exhaust pipe is not a true fix for this safety issue.*dt

Following are two main issues, causality/correlation uncertain.after the "subaru eyesight" failed for about two minutes while underway (dashboard cluster lit up in numerous places, too), the eyesight system reset while driving.thereafter, the vehicle began to "buck (e.g. Lurch forward several inches with a lot of force)" when the vehicle's cvt was in "drive" and i was stopped with the brake depressed at normal pressure.this has happened about six times in the last four days, and i am extremely concerned.the "buck" is so severe that the first time it happened, i felt like i was rear-ended.the most recent time that it occurred, my best friend could have been severely injured when the car lurched forward as he was standing outside of the running vehicle, gathering things from the front seat (e.g. Foot or leg run over had he been taking groceries out of the back seat).at this point, the subaru dealership is being coy about situation resolution.what is especially concerning is that the eyesight system is supposed to "kill" acceleration when the vehicle is stopped, and an object forward of the car is detected.yet, the vehicle tried to proceed forward when stopped in traffic?

3.6 liter 6-cyl engine surges after a cold start. When the car is started, the idle speed is high. When the car is put into gear, as the brakes are released and the car begins to move, the idle speed drops. If the car is brought to a stop or a very low (creeping) speed, the idle speed increases, causing the car to lurch. Foot never touches accelerator pedal at all.this behavior causes the car to move unexpectedly after it is brought to a stop by the brakes. It also makes it impossible to move the car at creeping speed - easing off the brakes, as the car starts to move, the idle speed drops, causing the brakes to slow the car. After a second, as the car comes to a stop, the engine speed kicks up again. This makes the car lurch into motion again. Operator must quickly increase brake pressure, but simultaneously the engine idle speed drops due to the increased speed. Therefore the car slows again and the cycle repeats.the described behavior happens equally in forward or reverse gear.the described behavior is only an issue on a cold start. It does not happen with a warm engine.i experience this on a daily basis. It has affected control of my car in the following situations: backing out of my driveway; entering an intersection; in a parking lot.

Drove on a straight stretch of interstate at 75 mph in a sunny afternoon on a 400 mile trip with fuel tank between 1/8 and 1/4 full. The engine suddenly lost power. Pressed the gas to rev up the engine but still no power moving forward. Had to pull over to the shoulder and stopped the car. That was a pretty dangerous situation since it happened without any warnings. Tried to restart the car but failed. The starter turns but engine will not start. Attempted several times over the period of 30 - 40 minutes to no avail. Had to call a tow truck to a shop near by. Once unloaded (about 2 hours later) from the truck, the technician hooked on instruments to check. The electricals (alternator, battery) were fine. Then restarting the engine worked. Shortly after, the low fuel warning light came on. Not confident of continuing the trip, stayed in the town overnight. Checked the internet forums the next day and read similar experiences by some subaru owners and realized that it could be related to low-fuel.went to fill up the gas tank and was able to continue to drive close to 100 miles to destination without problem. Noted when filling up, the tank had at least 2.5 gal of fuel left when the incident happened.car has 65k on the meter. It was bought new and maintained on-schedule. No accidents or mods.

When resumed cruise control, it did not.instead the steering wheel was uncontrollable and had no direction.was on interstate 84west in ct. Put on break and then was able to stop the vehicle on side of road. Went to the dealer and told no issue. Also have had gear shifting problems.was in touch less car wash where the car is in park and when told (flashing sign) to move forward the car would not go into drive.after several attempts, shut car off and then was able to put in drive. When the car is stationary and shifted into park and ignition turned off, the key becomes stuck in the accessory position and key is not able to be removed. Exterior lighting and interior electronics remain on. Subaru is aware of this shift plate sensor malfunction is present in 2016 legacy and 2017 forrester models, as far as i know, but have not recalled them. In order to remove key, the vehicle must be turned back on and the gear shift slammed into park, usually multiple times, to allow for the ignition to be fully turned off and the key to be removed. Once it started, it will not quit until the sensor has been replaced. The backup cam with also turn on while not in reverse, presumably related to the shift plate sensor malfunction.

When shifting from reverse to drive there is an extended delay and application of throttle causes a severe lurching of the car which can cause an accident.

Cvt transmission is failing after the recommended service interval for fluid changes in the cvt, front differential and rear differential.failure at 64,800 at freeway speeds on 12/28/2018.had vehicle towed to subaru dealership and they performed a cleaning of carbon build up and checked the fluid levels and reset everything.subaru claimed the computer was erased because the car wouldn't start once and had been charged.dealership declared everything was correct and roadworthy.picked up car on 1/1/2019 and transmission failed again at freeway speeds after approximately 12 miles of driving, this is the second failure, 01/01/2019.vehicle is being towed into subaru dealership again on 1/2/2019.transmission failing at 70 mph and causing a sudden decrease in speed is a major safety issue that could result in being hit from the rear or losing control of the vehicle.

The transmission does not immediately engage, when shifting from reverse to drive or drive to reverse, with or without engaging the foot brake.the transmission goes into a significant neutral state before it engages, in either direction, allowing the vehicle to drift until the transmission engages with a lurch.the occurs whether or not the engine is hot or cold.this is particularly dangerous and noticeable when backing from my driveway, which is inclined, to proceed uphill, and the vehicle drifts several feet rearward before engaging.the delay is not as pronounced, when exiting to proceed down the street.pages 7-24 and 7-27 of the subaru owner's manual specifically state not to use inertia to move the vehicle.there is, also, a harsh, premature downshift that quickly takes the car from 25 mph to 15 mph and a rolling stop, when removing your foot from the accelerator, while approaching the crest of a hill or stop sign.the braking force will actually throw you body forward.this, also, occurs while travelling at lowspeeds on residential streets.these conditions have existed since march 8, 2016, and after 4 repair requests, at 3 different subaru dealers, and an inspectionby a factory engineer, their claim is nothing is wrong.sorry, but i do not agree.engineer, continue to exist.their claim being this is normal.

The windshield cracked about 1inch for no reason, driving off of the lot after purchasing my used subaru legacy. The next day, another crack appeared while driving slow speeds on a flat roadway. The second crack is located in a new location, and spans about 2-2.5 ft'about 3/4 the length of the entire windshield. After researching, i came across a lawsuit currently filed against subaru america for this very issue'easily cracked windshields for these years and models.

I was driving straight in stop and go traffic on a main town road.and was rear ended at under 20 mph.my head hit the steering wheel and i was wearing my seat belt.i do not feel that the seat belt kept properly restrained me.

The headrest angle is completely uncomfortable. It will cause people do accident, because they can't drive with ease.

My vehical had the wrong brakes on it could not get inspected tech noticed pad were too big for rotor. 8 days later car still not returned to me if he haddened notice brake failure would occur

The contact owns a 2016 subaru legacy. While reversing the vehicle, it suddenly accelerated. The contact depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle failed to stop. As a result, the vehicle drove through the driveway barriers and crashed into a tree. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who repaired the rear driver side panel and trunk. The contact had not called the dealer. The manufacturer was notified and advised the contact that they would tow the vehicle to a subaru dealer for diagnostic testing. The failure mileage was 37,000.

I was going 40mph when i had to break for a yellow light with plenty of time to stop, as i was hitting the brakes my car began to skip and continue to press forward and did not stop until i hit the back of someone's vehicle. The brakes did not work and i was not going so fast that i couldn'thave had a smooth stop.

Key will not remove from ignition when turning off car. Progressively got more frequent. Only way to remove the key is to move the car or to shift back in forth from park to drive. Part had to be replaced

I'm having issues with the steering column and getting the key out. I'm not able to remove the key most days. Was this in any part of any known recall? thank you

The contact owns a 2016 subaru legacy. The contact stated that the power steering assist failed and the steering wheel was veering right and left. The dealer was notified of the failure and provided no diagnosis and no repair solution. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v292000 (steering). The contact attempted to reach the manufacturer several times and was unable to contact them. The failure mileage was not available.

Having difficulty removing key from ignition when vehicle is in park - car will turn off but cannot remove the key without much difficulty, restarting jiggling with force - fear of key breaking in ignition

Experienced difficulty removing key from ignition after vehicle is stopped and engine turned off. Issue recurs frequent but randomly. Sometimes it require several attempts to restart and shut-off engine before key would release from ignition. Vehicle was returned to dealer for repair and faulty part in shifter assembly replaced.

The contact owns a 2016 subaru legacy. While driving approximately 75 mph, the vehicle rolled over a bump in the road and became uncontrollable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle operated as intended. The vehicle was taken to be diagnosed twelve times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 500.

The child safety lock on the rear passenger's side will not disengage. It happened suddenly (unknown). You can't open the door from the inside, but you can open it from the outside. This is a safety issue because passengers could not get out of the door if an accident were to occur.the vehicle was stationary. The actuator needs to be replaced. After searching online recently there are a number of people who have this issue with their subaru.

The driver's side of my front bumper was falling off. The dealer said a bracket had broken. Subaru would not replace the bumper under warranty, but the dealer did replace it free of charge. Now four months later, the passenger's side of the front bumper is falling off. This seems like a safety issue. I have not been hit and have not hit anything.

Need to replace goodyear eagle ls2 225/50r18 tires. 4 of them have dry rot on the inside of the tire closest to the rim. One has a bubble on the inside. Car just turned 37 thousand miles yesterday. This is a potential issue to continue driving on these tires. I am afraid of a blowout

In the less than two years i have owned my vehicle, i have had to replace the windshield once (when it was less than a year old) and repaired cracks 3 times, the latest being today. All damages were done by gravel picked off the road, and not in construction zones. Not only have i never had any problems with my previous vehicle driving down the same roads, in the same state of repair, but neither have my parents in 20+ years of driving 5 different makes/models on the same roads.not only is the windshield ridiculously fragile, since i have the 'eyesight' safety feature, i was told that i could not replace the windshield with an oem/generic windshield. I would have to replace the flimsy windshield with another flimsy subaru windshield. If i did not, not only would they not guarantee that the safety feature i paid over $1500 additional for would work, but they wouldn't even attempt to calibrate it should it be needed.i have seen other complaints about subaru windshields, so this is obviously a known issue. Subaru should work on reinforcing their windshields at the very least, especially if they are forcing people to buy them. This should also be information given to prospective buyers.

Xmradio stopped working in the car after xmradio did an update. What they are saying it is due to subaru and not xmradio. This problem is effecting a lot of cars and the way it sounds like it will have to be taken to a dealer after mid december to get an update at our cost. This has been going on 2 mnths already and no word from xmradio about this has come to us. It looks like it is effecting all of subaru cars from about 2015 and newer. Even though no upgrades were done to the radio and the dealer can not fix it with the upgrade or the factory reset that xmradio says to do.

Unintended acceleration. Three episodes starting from august 2015. (delivery month of car). Was slowing down, foot lightly on brake at entrance gate to my community, when engine surged and car started accelerating. Stomped hard on brake to stop forward motion. Lasted only a few seconds and went back to normal.other 2 times almost identical circumstances. Have first appt. With subaru om feb. 2 2016.

Key cannot be removed from ignition after placing car in park. Literally have to either slam car into park or start car and immediately shut it down. Problem started right after hitting 60000 miles.

Was driving car along interstate at 75 mph around 6 pm. Heard a pop on the windshield and soon after about a 6 inch crack appeared sideways just above the driver side wiper.

Intermittently cannot remove key from iginition.cannot fully cut the car off.

Key gets stuck in ignition after putting vehicle in park.it is an intermittent issue but as time passes it happens more and more. There was a service bulletin issued in 2018 regarding this bulletin #16-112-18r.this has been happening for over a year and a half. Per subaru of america they are fully aware of the problem as they get a ton of phone calls regarding this but have not yet issued a recall.

Radio constantly freezes. Cannot operate volume or any other functions. Won't even play music when frozen. Have to turn off to reboot. Rearview camera won't work sometimes. What's the point off paying for the extra safety feature if it doesn't work? this was a very expensive car. I am very unhappy.

Unable to remove key from ignition when vehicle is in park-engine/car turns off except radio/lights. Have to restart car put into reverse, back into park, then turn off car.

The headrest angle is completely uncomfortable. It will cause people do accident, because they can't drive with ease.

The switch that the key goes into will not release the key when you put it in park.please make them recall this and fix it.there are several people online complaining about this issue.

Key will not remove from ignition when turning off car. Progressively got more frequent. Only way to remove the key is to move the car or to shift back in forth from park to drive.

I have had issues with my subaru windshield where i have had to get the windshield replaced multiple times in a short time span.within the last year, i've had to replaced the windshield twice already(21jul2017 and 11may2018).after getting the car back last friday (may 11th, 2018) after getting the second replacement, i got another crack/chip while driving home from work under normal driving conditions.i fear that this latest crack may spread and will force me to replace the windshield for a third time. I don't feel that the windshields are strong enough to protect against slight impacts and my children no longer feel safe in the vehicle after seeing the windshield crack so many times in the last year.

After starting the engine, when pulling out from my driveway and put the gear in reverse to pull out, the vehicle accelerates on its own without my foot pressing the accelerator. So brake has to be applied immediately to slow down the vehicle. It shoots forward with out me accelerating.. It accelerates at about 25-30 miles per hour without me once again accelerating it so we had to brake all the way from the house to the place of work. We have had several new cars includingmercedes benz and never have had this problem. As i go on the street the vehicle continues to accelerate without me accelerating it. There is also a burning smell when the car is started. . we took the vehicle into the dealer and they were no help at all..

Ignitiion key stuck in acc and will not come out of steering column

Need to replace goodyear eagle ls2 225/50r18 tires. 4 of them have dry rot on the inside of the tire closest to the rim. One has a bubble on the inside. Car just turned 37 thousand miles yesterday. This is a potential issue to continue driving on these tires. I am afraid of a blowout

Key intermittently gets stuck in ignition when car is in park and engine turned off (but electric is still on since key cannot be turned to "off").if left unresolved, the battery will eventually die.subaru has acknowledged the issue in service bulletin 16-112-18r: "this bulletin announces a design change to the cvt select lever (shifter) mechanism in response to isolated customer concerns of not being able to remove the key from the ignition switch when the vehicle is in park. The cause is contamination of the park-range switch internal components."this is a serious enough problem that it required a redesign; this is a serious enough problem that it requires a recall.

Having difficulty removing key from ignition when vehicle is in park - car will turn off but cannot remove the key without much difficulty, restarting jiggling with force - fear of key breaking in ignition

Key gets stuck in ignition. Often will not release. Happens when put car into park upon stopping.

Noticed yesterday that my 2016 subaru legacy was making noise while lowering window on drivers side. I called subaru to schedule a appointment for the to check the window they analyzed the problem and informed me it was a window regulator going bad but couldnt explain why a two year old barely driven new vehicle regulator would go out? i received no answer.

Eyesight adaptive cruise control does not detect a stopped vehicle in front at all different speeds.driving on highway if you come up on a completely stopped vehicle the eyesight adaptive cruise control does not detect the vehicle a driver action is necessary to stop the car.the system works fine if the car in front is moving.

Key kept randomly getting stuck in the ignition. The subaru tech found that the select lever assembly needed to be replaced.

During certain times of the day in the morning and afternoon when the sun is at an angle through the front door windows there is a blinding glare on the infotainment screen as well as the high gloss clear cover that covers the area around the 7 inch screen. Even with sunglasses on it is like looking into the sun. This is a serious safety issue and design flaw. My brother has the same issue on a used 2015 legacy that he just bought. In addition the silver metallic like strip above the glove compartment creates a piercing glare.

We picked up a brand new subaru legacy yesterday and drove it approximately 75 home late in the afternoon. After i got on the interstate travelling east there was a terrible, blinding glare coming off the infotainment/climate control area. It is covered with a very glossy material. Some glare also came off the silver trim on the dashboard above the glovebox, and to the left of the driver console, but the worst is the infotainment screen. I was blinded, distracted, and ended up with a blinding migraine. Can't subaru come up with a non-glare film for this?

Failure of the park-range switch resulting in the inability to remove key from ignition when shifter is in the park position.

Hello,i'm trying to send this email to make nhtsa that subaru has been having an issue with the ignition key for years. I purchased my subaru legacy around 2015 and just now started getting issues with the ignition not letting me take out my keys after set as "parked". I noticed that i was not the only one with this issue and subaru should be made responsible for this shifter malfunction and not the customers. It should be a recall since many cars are experiencing the same issue with different models. I have to play around with the shifter in order to release my keys whenever i set it on park. Hope that this message can get routed to the right department and find a solution for this ongoing issue for many customers.thank you in advance.

Steering wheel adaptive cruise control for speed regulation does not function properly. When pressing the control to increase or decrease speed, there is no response or "follow distance" increases. Because subaru's eyesight and adaptive cruise control represent significant safety, accident-prevention advances, a malfunctioning steering wheel control represents a real safety hazard when driving.

The contact owns a 2016 subaru legacy. On several occasions, whether the vehicle was placed in reverse or drive, it accelerated independently. The dealer diagnosed that the vehicle operated as intended. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 4,042.

Front windshield got crack upon being hitting by a foreign obstacle, maybe a pebble. Within a day, the crack line extended to more than 1 foot, which affected front visibility. Within a few weeks, the same problem happened to my 2017 subaru outback that shares the same windshield component with legacy.in the past, i had windshield cracks with other cars i owned but the cracks did not grow as fast as subaru's. I am wondering if the subaru's windshield used in legacy and outback may have a material problem or a manufacturing issue.

I bought the car as a dealer car (they told me it was registered to a manager as a test car).it had 4,810 miles when i bought it.i have driven the car just over 300 miles. When i test drive it, it made a sound like a stone hit the windshield.then almost every time i have driven it since, including three times today, it made the same exact sound.i was driving both in city traffic (red light to red light) and on a toll road with limited traffic.when i got out and looked at the windshield, i noticed literally 50 or more small "chips" in the windshield.

Within a month of purchasing brand new, my 2016 legacy developed a massive crack at the bottom of the windshield near the defrost.i replaced the windshield with a new subaru windshield only to have it crack again in a different place within a few months.i contacted subaru as there is a known problem with the windshields on the early 2016 models and they refused to assist.

On 2019-11-30 while driving on highway, the driver heard a sudden sound and a crack appeared on the windshield. The crack appeared to originate from the center bottom of the windshield, rise upward about a foot, then toward passenger side a few inches.over the course of the next few days the crack became longer toward passenger side, while parked overnight.on 2019-12-03 vehicle owner called soa to notify them of the potential defect occurrence with the windshield, and was provideda case number for warranty claim/defect. Vehicle was driven to local subaru dealer in zip code 32609 for inspection, and to have them take pictures to be sent to soa for review, referencing the case number. Dealer said they thought the crack was from an impact event, and recommended a local body shop for owner to purchase a replacement windshield, and eyesight recalibration, at owner cost.the vehicle was repaired by the recommended body shop on 2019-12-11, owner filed claim with their vehicle insurance.as of 2019-12-23, no response has been received by vehicle owner from soa on the case that was filed.the attached photos are of the cracked windshield, noting the crack progression from 2019-11-30 to 2019-12-03. The windshield identifiers are identical on the cracked and replacement windshields.

Chip in the windshield in my direct line of sight, i am not aware of anything hitting the windshield to cause it. I purchased vehicle used only 3 months ago. When i purchased it the dealership had mentioned that they had just replaced the windshield. So the new windshield was only 3 months old.

One morning after being parked all night, we noticeda six inch crack appeared one day in the front windshield half way up at the passenger side edge and extending toward the driver side. There is no impact or chip site in the windshield.

Windshield developed a cracked under passenger side windshield wiper and has now spread across the bottom of my windshield. Vehicle was stationary when i noticed it

Windshield cracked starting at the bottom of the windshield (in the middle) and it spread while being stationary.got it replaced by subaru.a month later the new windshield cracked in the same exact place and spread while stationary. Both times it was parked in the driveway.

My windshield spontaneously developed a crack while parked in my driveway for a week.no debris was found around the vehicle.looks like it started with the top passenger side and extended 1 foot down and 1.5 feet across to the drivers side.

The contact owns a 2016 subaru legacy. While the vehicle was stationary, the driver and passenger side mirrors reflected the silver chrome from around the air conditioning vents. The contact stated that this obstructed the view of the road on several occasions. The dealer tinted the windows, but the issue recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 33,200.

A 6-inch crack suddenly appeared in the lower driver's side area of the windshield starting from the very edge in the black area. It follows the exact pattern of multiple other windshield crack complaints in this model year. The windshield has already been replaced twice before out-of-pocket due to similar cracking.

High gloss navigation screen and high gloss finish on vents reflect sun at certain angles and result in sun being reflected into drivers eyes causing a blinding condition. This happens when drivingduring daylightwhen sun is out. This is a severe and significant safety issue. I have driven subarus for years and just got the 2016 legacy. Have never had this problem with any other vehicle. Have to put a towel over area when sun is out to drive without being blinded.

The contact owns a 2016 subaru legacy. The contact stated that the windshield was cracked near the windshield wiper. Carter subaru shoreline (17225 aurora ave n, seattle, wa 98133; (206) 542-1166) was contacted and the contact was informed that the vin was not under recall. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.
