Takata recall.i received a notice of a class action lawsuit concerning takata airbags in subarus. I must decide if i want to be part of this claim.at this time, my car has not been recalled. I want this takata airbag removed from my car!i purchased this 2015 car from the dealer (used) in 2016. Subaru knew they were selling a car with a defective airbag. Waiting to hear from dealer concerning recall/replacement.

The contact owns a 2015 subaru legacy. The contact made a right turn to turn into a parking lot, the vehicle accelerated and surged out of the parking space. The vehicle went over a concrete parking block, struck a guardrail, then crashed into the building behind it. Then the vehicle bounced back into the parking space. The air bags did not deploy. The contact was not injured. No police report was made.the vehicle was driven to a local mechanic. The vehicle was repaired (the contact didn't know what was damaged on their vehicle). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed that they would send an official to the contact's home to inspect the vehicle. The failure mileage was 34,630.

My vehicle was involved in an accident yesterday. While pulling in to a parking spot and almost completely stopped withmy foot on the brake about to place the car in park, it suddenly accelerated.the result was a front end collision with the side of a restaurant and the air bags did not deploy.i'm grateful that there were no injuries but i'm worried that there may be something seriously wrong with this vehicle and possibly others like it. I'm not sure how to start an investigation of this nature so i'm turning to your organization for guidance.please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.

Clock spring in steering column is bad.horn does not work.driver's side air bag may be inoperable. Condition exists when vehicle is stationary with ignition off and while it is in motion.

"takata recall"awaiting recall and replacement info from dealer.

Takatarecall, ondec16,2015 driving on rt81&littlecityrd,at signal light.i had green light and was hit from right side by anyother car which ran red lighthit my front end of carspun me aroundand not one air bag went off, damage was almost11,000what is wrong with subaruairbags

Slowly pulling into a parking spot, when the car accelerated (unintended acceleration) into a brick wall. My passenger suffered 3 broken ribs from the seat belt, and i suffered whiplash, bruising from seat belt, and bruised knees. The air bags did not deploy. Subaru corp decided to do nothing, and suggested that i trade in the car, which i have only owned for a few weeks. Do they then sell it to some unsuspecting person. Please help. Takata recall -- received notice ~ august 12 of settlement in a class action lawsuit alleging subaru manufactured and sold vehicles that contained allegedly defective airbags made by takata. Nothing has happened to the vehicle, but the notice suggested a recall may be issued.

Sitting in parked vehicle, motor off, windows down heard a quick popping sound. I lookedsitting in parked vehicle, engine off, windows down, heard a quick popping noise. A quick inspection, looking around saw nothing. About 20 minutes later driving home, top speed 35 mph, on a local community road, saw a hairpin crack starting from bottom of window, driver's side, going up across windshield and midway across. The window was clear except for crack. Called a reputable company to schedule appointment. The representative suggested i call the subaru maintenance department as previous subaru customers had recall on windshield. I call to learn vin not a recall. I am extremely happy with my subaru. I have taken the vehicle back to the subaru dealer from whom i purchased every six month for oil change and all recommended mileage maintenance inspection. Due to low mileage, 26,433, could it be possible the windshield may be defective? thanking you in advance for a quick response.😊

Battery has failed repeatedly.6yr old car on 4th battery.first replaced by subaru, then aaa, then by aaa by warranty

Can ( controller area network) is causing a parasitic draining of my battery causing me to have to jump my car regularly and i changed the battery less than a year ago. I know that i'm not the only person that has had this issue, i'm aware of the current class action lawsuit out against subaru for this current situation. This is a very costly a serious issue that demands attention now. It's very dishonest of subaru to tell you that nothing's wrong or offer any fix, all while taking our hard earned money. I'm very frustrated because i can't afford to continue messing with this issue nor can i simply go out and buy another vehicle. I have been left stranded both at home and aboard leaving my wife and kids not too mention myself at risk. I have taken the vehicle in and haven't had any remedy. No other failures at the time of this reporting.

Clock spring in steering column is bad.horn does not work.driver's side air bag may be inoperable. Condition exists when vehicle is stationary with ignition off and while it is in motion.

After sitting in driveway for 3 days, vehicle would barely start, strong exhaust smell, rat nest on top of engine and chewed hoses and wiring. Had towed into dealership. Advised of rodent damage. Replaced: engine wiring harness, transmission harness, transmission insulation, firewall insulation, hood insulation, fuel transfer pipes, and fuel lines at engine bay.cleaned excess debris from engine bay and fuel bay (they had to drop the fuel tank). Reassembled.final cost, including tow charge: $4557.42.thankfully, insurance covered, minus our$1000.00 deductible. Green cars, not green in the wallet.

2015 subaru legacy. Consumer writes in regards to a wiring defect. *ldthe consumer stated the vehicle's mirror link app malfunctioned.

When i was in the garage (about 2 months ago) trying to start my car, it tried to start but did not. Repeated attempts to start the car failed, and it acted like the battery was low. I measured the battery voltage and it was only 5.9 volts. I recharged the battery and took it to an auto parts place to get a new battery. They tested the battery and said it was still good and would not recommend replacing it. The car has been fine since. I realize this is not exactly a safety issue except if it had happened someplace remote and not in my garage where i could work on it it could have been bad. I just found out there is a class action lawsuit against subaru over their can system that sometimes fails (does not go to sleep) and causes the battery to run down faster than it should. It sounds to me like that is what happened to my car. If you are keeping up with complaints about subaru's can system i guess you can add mine to the list (or database). Thanks for your efforts.

The entire radio display would freeze and become totally unresponsive to all controls including trying to turn the radio off with the power button.the only way to resolve the issue is by turning off the car and restarting.this has happened at least 2 times in the past few months

In january of 2015, i purchased a new 2015 subaru legacy with the latest safety features and equipment. Within 3 months of purchase of the legacy beginning in april of 2015 the radio/navigation/driver assistance display console began to lock up and become non-operable after about 15 minutes of operation.the dealer (matt slapp subaru of newark, delaware) had difficulty diagnosing the problem and called in the subaru regional technician to try to recommend a fix. He recommended a complete replacement of the center console radio and display. This all took several months. When the replacement unit came in, we brought the car in for the repairsshortly after the new radio/display console had been installed, the same problem we had before was evident. In addition, we were unable to access the map and navigational function at all with the new unit. At about the same time as we were discovering this, the dealer called to tell us that the computerized inventory accounting system had flagged the mismatch between our model and the radio/navigation console that had been installed in my subaru. We returned the car to the dealer again and for the second time a new and correct modelradio/navigation console was installed. We now had access to the navigation system screen and maps again going into the fall of 2015 and for the rest of the winter everything seemed to be working fine. But during a warm spell in april of 2016 the problem cropped up again and i began to maintain a log (attached) of the occurrences whichbecame more and more frequent as we moved into summerduring the month of july the system locked up on the ride home at the end of the day on almost every sunny, warm day. Since it doesn't happen until i'm on my way and traveling on high speed, limited access highways for 90% of my commute when it's difficult to find a safe place to pull off the road,

The contact owns a 2015 subaru legacy. The contacted stated while the vehicle was parked at his residence. He saw smoke illumniated inside of the vehicle. No one was injured. The contact stated the fire started around the front passenger side door. The fire was put out by the contact who threw snow from the outside into the vehicle. No one was in the vehicle at the time of failure no injuries. No warning light illuminated in the vehicle. The fire department was not notified. The police was not notified. The vehicle was not towed to no local mechanics or local dealer, the manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 102,000.

2015 legacy 3.6r purchased 12/18/14two major safety issues:1) snow / water entering engine compartment while driving and causing a burning smell inside cabin and exterior. 2) water leak inside cabin at driver foot well area.engine burning smell:1/7 notified dealer of burning smell which appeared to be coming from engine/under car and inside cabin while car was idling. Dealer reviewed and was unable to replicate. 2/23/15 returned to dealer again, once again unable to replicate2/28/15 3255 miles - brought to another subaru dealer; dealer confirmed smell in writing and cited due to "rustproof coating from factory on exhaust". 3/3/15 - driving in another snow storm, smelled burning again, parked and opened hood - discovered water / snow all over engine compartment; on top of battery and covering all electrical components; have pictures. There is evidence of water stains and rust corrosion all over engine compartment, on electrical wires and the plastic white fuse connectors are discolored. Salt stains underneath engine hood and all over engine body. Standing water underneath the batter cradle as well as snow. Seems worse on left side then right but both sides have water. Engine hood is flush with bumper - doesn't appear to be any fit issue, however the only weather strip is a small piece above the grill area and does not stretch across and over the lights.3/3/15 contacted subaru of america and dealer - no response - yet. ****this is a major safety mechanical concern. At no time should water ever enter the engine compartment***2) water leak in cabin3/2/15 discovered water leak inside cabin - driver foot well area. Notified subaru of american on 3/2 and dealer. Bettery drained

When the car sits unused for more than several days, it goes completely dead. I have had both my mechanic and the dealer check the entire charging system ( battery, alternator, engine drive belt etc ) to no avail. Everything tests as working within given parameters and my 2015 vehicle w/ 67,000 milesis currently on it's 4th battery ! the dealer has refused to perform the two technical service bulletin(s) issued by subaru corporate unless l pay for them,as they claim they can find no evidence to show they are needed.as a disabled retiree, i cannot depend on this, my only vehicle, to go to doctors appointments, food shopping and other normal necessary daily activities.thank you, [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I have a 2015 subaru legacy and the srvd (blind spot & rear backup detection) system keeps malfunctioning. Happens when the vehicle is started and does not go away when driving. Took the car to the subaru dealer and they could not solve the issue. This is a designed safety system and not working it becomes as safety issue.

Electronic parking brakes will not release.eye sight system error light on -- says to see dealer.vehicle is in low clearance parking garage - flatbed tow truck cannot enter.brakes are stuck on.front of vehicle facing garage wall, which is partially open (looking through to another level).vehicle is on a slight downward incline facing wall.seems like all 4 brakes are locked even in neutral.car starts fine and runs, can enter r n& d, but will not move.new vehicle -- tow truck operator does not know how to release brakes for this model year, since it is different from previous year.vehicle received eye sight recall notification recently, but vehicle has not been serviced yet.suspect eye sight is to blame, as it has been behaving in erratic fashion over the last few months.(turns off in extremely light rain, when it should not, stays off for a while, then turns on in heavy rain)

The contact owns a 2015 subaru legacy. The contact stated that coolant was leaking from the engine and a burning electrical smell coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that water entered through the wheel wells, onto the fuse box and electrical components, and into the driver side floor board. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 11,200.

On april 11th we bought our brand new subaru legacy it had maybe 34 miiles on it (give or take) my husband drives the car and a couple of days having the car the radio/backup camera/phone system crashes- it happened a couple of times. On april 14th my husband brought the car into service. Now i am going to just speed things up put all service visits in one explanation as i do not have many characters left. In the 8 times that we have been to service with loaner cars, they replaced the radio once. They couldn't replicate the issue, so we sent them video of it. They had no clue what to do with it so they sent to japan and waiting for an answer. In the meantime, there is a sweet smell coming from the engine. Service says that there is no leak and the smell is normal and fine. We do not agree. I have had many new cars and the engine never smells like that. When my husband picked up the car yesterday from service there is a huge ding in the back side. My husband didn't notice until he got home. I have already called subaru corporate and every time they say, "we have to hear what service has to say." it has been two months and still no resolution. How long am i supposed to wait to see what the next steps are?

Srvd disabled at39000 miles. Blind spot detection system failure.

Yesterday in the evening i started the car and had half tank of gas in the car. But the gas gage was on empty. Like it got stuck there and drove home it still remained there. Today it was normal. It was 40 degrees fahrenheit outside.

I think there is a potential recall problem with eyesight-equipped 2015 legacy models. I took my car in several weeks ago because one day all of the hazard lights came on, including the abs light and the brake light (flashing red) on the speedometer gauge, the eyesight and the anti-skid light on the center console, and the check engine light, the adaptive cruise control light, and the lane departure light on the tachometer.i stopped driving it for two days while i waited for my service appointment day to arrive.the lights did not come back on when i drove it to the dealer.the service department kept my car for a day and said that the lights must have come on as an "attention getting device" to alert me that the car was about a quart low on oil (even though it was not quite yet time for my 6 month/6,000 mile oil change).after getting the recommended oil change, i drove the car without any problems for several weeks.this past weekend, the problem occurred again.all of the lights mentioned above came on and stayed on when i started it and pulled out of my garage.based on my last experience, i drove the car anyway.later in the day, when i turned the car on again, all of the lights once again came on and stayed on, except that this time the brake and the abs lights were not illuminated.the car can be driven, but cruise control and associated features (lane departure, etc.) do not work when these lights are on.after driving the car with these lights on all day saturday (including several complete shutdowns followed by restarts an hour or two later), the problem disappeared the next day, just as it did last month.i took pictures of my dash both times when the lights came on this past weekend.i can supply them on request.it has only been a few weeks and 1000 miles or so since my last oil change, so i think we can rule out that explanation.

Battery drainage and replacement more often than usual

I have a 2015 subaru legacy 2.5i engine.the problem i have is a blown fuse in the main compartment f26 (backup).i have read subaru forum(s) and in earlier years this is same issue that i currenthave in my car.in the older models this was recalled and the issue was reworked at subaru repair centers at their cost.this issue also said it could cause a over heating and possible cause a fire.please look into this issue.kind regards, doug whittemore 57 lexington ave. After turning onto my inclined, somewhat long driveway, and applying a soft braking when entering my garage, the car suddenly sped up to a high speed and crashed into the wall which had two layers of plastic storage boxes in front of it. The boxes pushed the wall into my house which pushed my dining room hutch forward causing the top part to fall back and break just about all the crystal and heirloom items inside it. The top part of the hutch is unrepairable. My car was damaged, my home is damaged, and my hutch is ruined. I am now afraid to ever park in my garage again with this vehicle. I am also afraid of this happening elsewhere where i might possible injure others or myself.

I have experienced two separate occasions where my vehicle accelerated even though my foot was on the brake pedal. Once, i was slowing down on a main street for a stop light behind several other cars. My vehicle began to accelerate and would have rammed the car in front of me if i had not been able to swerve into an empty turn lane. Due to the acceleration, i figured i must have accidentally hit the gas pedal, so i lifted my foot and hit the other pedal--which was the accelerator, and naturally just accelerated the vehicle more. I then put my foot back on the brake and the car came to a stop. The second time, my son was backing into our driveway. He had the brakes on. The car was slowing down. Then it suddenly accelerated backward. My son said his foot was still on the brake pedal when the car accelerated, and he did the same thing i did when i had the issue: he moved his foot to the other pedal, thinking he had made some kind of error, but found that the switch only made the car accelerate more, so he switched back to the brake pedal and the car stopped. In both of these instances, the car was initially braking when the brake pedal was applied, then began to accelerate without a change in foot positioning. The accelerator was not touched in either instances because the vehicle was going slow enough not to need much pressure, and the accelerator is positioned far enough away from the brake as it is impossible to touch both pedals at the same time. The floor mats were properly secured at both times (as they always are) and could not possibly have interfered in any way.thankfully no one has been hurt or experienced any property damage during either of these episodes, but i am worried that one of these days, something horrible will happen if this problem is not corrected! i will give the date of the most recent occurrence in the information included with this report.

Driving on freeway with cruise set at 72mph, reached down to the center council to grab an item, and pulled up on the electronic parking brake button.the button is located too close to reachable places. The car came to a scratching halt, lucky the vehicles behind me were able to swerve out of the way in time.

Takata recallwhile driving approx 60-65 mph in the fast lane of i-24 interstate with driver's foot on the gas pedal, all lights on the dash board suddenly came on and the subaru went into automatic braking system, causing the front to go into a nose dive, and the brakes stayed locked. An accident incurred and the subaru as well as a vehicle behind were totaled. Low back, wrist and neck injuries occurred to the driver of subaru legacy. A claim was submitted to subaru. It has been two months and no follow up has occurred. Finally with legal assist, thelegacy will be examined by a "subaru" engineer to determine the cause.

The vehicle has been stopped while driving, on 5 occasions. My mechanic replaced the battery terminal part on 3/31/21on 5/12/21 40 minutes into my drive, the airbag malfuncation icon came on.as well as an idiot light in the center panel of the dash board by the mphil guage.two hours later the ignition lock light began blinking and car would not start.concurrent to this the front passenger window can not be operated from drivers side.on 5/14/21, 40 minutes into my drive the airbag warning light came on again on the dashboard. All the same stuff happened again.

The contact owns a 2015 subaru legacy. While driving at 65 mph, the eyesight system activated prematurely without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,200. Ma 10/15/2015updated 11/30/2017

The at oil temp and brake light randomly start flashing and kick your car off cruise without any check engine light the transmission fluid and oil temp arenot hot but causes the car to lose power. Almost been rear ended on the free way due to this happening dealership does not know what causes this due to it not always happening and the lights go off after shutting the car off and back on again multiple people have this problem with no resolution. I am a huge subaru fan but will look else where if subaru doesn't start fixing their mistakes,

I was driving to work when the engine low oil light came on.i checked the oil immediately and it appeared to be down about a quart. I contacted the dealership and took it in the next day.they confirmed the oil was down about a quart and started an engine oil study.i am to take the car back to the dealership in 1200 to have the oil level checked.this appears to be a known problem with the 2011 and above subarus.this all happened a month or so after i had already taken the car to the dealership after having a burnt oil smell from outside of the car.nothing was found.

Strong exhaust fume smell invades cabin while idle, everyday and it's getting stronger no leaks detected

At 300 miles, coming off highway, slowed down to 5 mph and wentthru toll booth. I then stepped on gas, had hesitation, no response then acceleration. Happened again on 5/11/15 when i had 900 miles.came off highway on to local streets. This time had 5-7 big hesitations over 10 minute period. Very dangerous because i was making a u-turn and car hesitated then accelerated as i was making u-turn !!returned car to dealer. Do not want todrive it until fixed.

Since november of 2017 while driving the car it has intermittently jerked and shook excessively, bucking like a mad horse. Car was brought in to dealer for diagnosis. Dealer was not able to identify the cause. After several visits to dealer where i was assured the problem was fixed the same problem continued. It should be noted that the car, while driving started to shut down and i needed to be towed to the dealer. Dealer claimed the problem was a faulty spark plug. Car was then returned to me. Yet again the problem persisted and had i to crawl like a turtle back to home. Car was towed again to dealer for another diagnosis. Now the dealer believes the problem is a faulty cylinder (whatever that means).i have no trust in the reliability of this vehicle and am concerned about the safety of driving this vehicle with my family. It be should be noted that the car has been serviced exactly to the instructions per the mileage guidance.i have reported this concern to subaru of america corporate office. Case # 1-38872409282. Their response is unfair. I am now left with a car that is unsafe to drive and i should not be penalized financially.

The contact owned a 2015 subaru legacy. While driving at an unspecified rate of speed, an animal went across the driver's path. The driver veered to the right and crashed into a tree. The vehicle erupted into flames. Weeks prior to the crash, the vehicle was taken to the dealer due to various warning lights randomly flashing on the instrument panel. The dealer repaired the vehicle according to a manufacturer's recall; however, the remedy may have been insufficient and caused the failure. A police report was filed. The driver side air bag deployed with force. The driver sustained extensive abrasions to the head, a fractured right femur, four lateral fractures in the arms, fractures to the left elbow with metal plates, and burns to the back. Medical attention was required. The vehicle was towed. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v502000 (power train) and 15v366000 (exterior lighting, forward collision avoidance). The approximate failure mileage was 25,100.

Upon low speeds transmission howls, hesitation followed by fast acceleration.key insertion into ignition is difficult and rough.

Check engine light came on with the cruise control icon flashing. The cars rpm's were repeatedly fluctuating when parked, in neutral, and in drive with the brake on.

Good afternoon, i am the owner of a 2014 subaru legacy ([xxx]) which is located in ukraine, there is a revocable company under which my car falls (service campaign: wuj95), the importer and dealers refuse me this, what should i do? here is the importer's answer: good afternoon, this campaign is for north america only. Car engine stalled while in motion on a city steet. Car was restarted but engine light was on. Took car to dealer who replaced o2 sensor. Concern is why car stalled when a sensor failed . On a freeway this could be very dangerous.

The contact owns a 2015 subaru legacy. While driving in the snow, water started to leak inside the engine causing a burning smell. The failure recurred several times.

The contact owns a 2015 subaru legacy. The contact stated that her visibility was obstructed when the sun reflected off the factory installed navigational system. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 600.

The contact owns a 2015 subaru legacy. The contact stated that the vehicle was purchased and unable to be driven for several months due to a failure with the forward collision avoidance feature not functioning properly. The contact notified the first dealer and they were not able to replicate and diagnose the failure. The contact later tested the vehicle numerous times and noticed that the failure was progressing. The vehicle was taken back to the first dealer a second time upon receiving nhtsa campaign number: 15v366000 (exterior lighting, forward collision avoidance) and they indicated that the vehicle did not need to be serviced under the recall. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer to receive the recall remedy and the contact stated that the dealer had the vehicle for longer than two months for the repairs. The contact was uncertain if the manufacturers remedy provided a permanent solution and was concerned that the failure would reoccur. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,500.

The headlights have dimmed.the lenses have clouded on the inside surface so there is no way to remove the clouding.it is not due to moisture.i have had the dealer look at it twice.it is progressively worse.the dealer said the regional rep said it is a normal finding so the lenses will not be replaced under warranty.he pointed out that new lenses would develop the same clouding.

1) spontaneous cracks in windshield originating from deicer while car parked overnight 12/3/20 taken to subaru 12/4/20. Subaru website search showed models with all weather package from my production date had defect in windshield cracking from deicer area & warranty extended 5 yrs which expired 4/20 subaru may not cover $1000+ cost which involves recalibrating & testing eyesight after replacing windshield (2) eyesight frequently disabled from lights of oncoming vehicles at night or in inclement weather & all safety warnings, emergency braking, adaptive cruise control etc are disabled at time critically needed for driving at night and/or in inclement weather. Paid $400+ for tech to try to duplicate/diagnose problem with front eyesight camera with no solution & now problem is occurring regularly.

At the first refueling of the car after purchase, the fuel door did not open when the lever was pulled.eventually it did open after multiple attempts.at the second refueling of the car, approximately 450 miles after the first time, once again the door did not open.it opened finally after about 10 minutes with one person operating the lever and another forcing the door.the next day, the car was taken to the dealership where the fuel door pin was adjusted to rectify the problem.

My 2015 subaru legacy has at different times (at idle in gear, coming up to a red light while moving, pulling into a parking lot or driving at 45 miles an hour) accereated on its own and would not slow down untill i put it in nuetral.i have to drive with my hand on the shifter at all times to put into nuetral.i bought the car new in 2015 and have 13900 miles on it now in july 2016.

Almost every time i fill up with gas, when the gas pump shuts off there is a back splash of gas out of the tank. I would say anywhere from 1 to 3 ounces of gas splashes out. Depends on the pressure it's being filled at. I talked to my dealer about it and was told that is common for subaru legacy's.

Driving on interstate at 70mph & car acted as if it went into neutral. Rpm's were maintained at apx 4000.low fuel light had just gone moments before indicating 80 miles left in tank.car acted like it had no gas however rpm was working as i pulled on to shoulder of highway, luckily.once pulled over & braking engine stopped. Tried restarting & engine acted like it had no gas. Was in the process of waiting for aaa when i tried restarting it.it started after about a half hour from incident, although i did not try to start it after the 1st 5 minutes or so.when it restarted low fuel gauge was still on 70 miles to empty & i was able to make it to gas station & refueled to approximately 15 gallons, 3 less than 18 gallon tank so there was approx 3 gallons in tank when this occurred. Car is working fine now but will be taking to nc subaruto see if any codes were set, nothing was alerted on car warning lights other than low fuel warning light. I live in nj & i am concerned this could happen again driving back & i may not be so lucky to be able to pull over on more congested highways. Searched google & there are similar incidents such as subaru forrestor 2014 with same engine & issue where dealer could not find issue. Also subaru issued recall for 2017 imprezza (see 33k cars recalled) with stalling issues.car has 93k miles & other than replacing 2 batteries, one a few weeks back , it has never had an issue with anything else. I was approximately 2 miles from getting off interstates when this occurred (eg 553 of 550 miles before 30 or so miles remaining on local roads).after refueling in nj only made two quick 5 minute stops along the way before this occurred.

When parking in a parking spot at a school going to work, the car accelerated on it's own and went up an embankment and struck a tree causing extensive damage.

From a slow roll making a right hand turn. Put my foot on the gas peddle and got no reply for about 3-4 second then the card pulled out very fast this often.most of the timefrom a stop at a stop sign.no movement for about 3-5 seconds. Also, then jumps out fast. Took back to dealer. They could not find the problem. June 18, 2015 called main office of subaru.. They sent me to a local dealer. June 24, 2015. Car with them for 2 days. No response.very scarey.

Fuel door would not open atgas station. Tried many times.drove home. Put car in garage. Had to hit door with hand and pry open while releasing latch in car.

Gas lid would not release after pulling the lever.this has happened mulitiple times prior without me realizing it was a problem because the second time i pulled the lever it would release - this last time it would not release even after multiple pulls - i had to push the gas door forward with the palm of my hand and then pry open

Gas cap lid does not open.we took the auto into dealership june 30, 2015 and gave them tsb-09-60-15.mileage 5987.temps in the 70's.they greased the gas lid contact.i indicated the tsb indicated something other than that.they took back into shop and ground down the lid release contact.drove home.tried to open gas cap lid and it would not open.we are concerned about driving auto any distance by oneself because it now takes two people to put gas into auto.one to pull up lever and one to pry open the lid on the outside.i am seeing numerous problems with several other subaru models besides the legacy.such a simple manufacturing flaw should be able to be fixed.love the auto but this is really really an annoying simple flaw.one person's comment on a tsb pertaining to this issue said if the lube and grinding does not fix the issue, the entire cap assembly needs to be replaced.i have not discussed this with the dealer yet.this issue happens in all temps.currently 60 in garage and cap does not open.mileage 10365.

Transmission slips, gas cap does not close/open properly and "sticks." constant buzzing sound from windows even after they were replaced and the moonroof will not close properly when pressing the button for the first time. The moonroof will close and then open again.

Upon low speeds transmission howls, hesitation followed by fast acceleration.key insertion into ignition is difficult and rough.

When parking in a parking spot at a school going to work, the car accelerated on it's own and went up an embankment and struck a tree causing extensive damage.

Car stalled on city street. Turned out to be the transmission.

Just got a notice that subaru is extending the warranty on the cvt for this car and my second subaru (2014 outback 4s4brblc0e3307363). Called them to ask what percentage of cars have needed this repair so i can make an informed decision about keep or disposing of my subarus. They told me "we do not have any data on # of repairs" and said they just did it as a courtesy to customers. Sounds like a load of bunk to me. I think that i am entitled to this data to make an informed decision and ask your assistance in compelling subaru to be open and transparent with owners regarding this issue. Thank you.

My 2015 subaru legacy has a very abrupt throttle tip-in (the manner in which power is delivered upon depressing the gas pedal). Push the throttle a little and nothing happens and then a little more and it takes off like a shot! not safe when pulling into tight parking spaces. I called my subaru dealer and i was told it is caused by the cvt transmission design. Subaru needs to reduce the abruptness of the throttle tip-in for safe operation. This is unsafe and scary in tight parking situations.

My transmission has been idling rough after coming to a stop and feels as if it is going to stall. If i let off the brake slightly the rpms go back to normal temporarily then continues to idle roughly

Right rear wheel bearing had to be replaced at approximately 36,000 miles.now the left rear wheel bearing has had to be replaced at approximately 44,000 miles.both situations occurred when unusual noises were heard from the rear end of the car at highway speeds. The dealership making the repairs and subaru of america have not provided any reasonable explanation for why both wheel bearings would have problems at relatively low mileage.

Check engine light came on with the cruise control icon flashing. The cars rpm's were repeatedly fluctuating when parked, in neutral, and in drive with the brake on.

2015 subaru legacy.consumer writes in regards to vehicle acceleration issues.

Our windshield developed a crack that grew over two days and now extends half the width of the windshield. We discovered this crack when getting into the car after it was parked. There is no obvious reason for this crack. We have no memory of hitting or being hit by any object. I understand that such spontaneous cracks have appeared on other subaru outbacks and legacies.

After both front door seals were replaced in 2016,, the wind noise returned. Spoke to subaru customer service, and was they sent me a 'sorry for the inconvenience' check for $250.00 which didn't cover the original issue.

May 8th 2015 we purchased our 2015 subaru legacy 2.5i premium. #1.very prominent coolant smell from passenger side engine area. Loosing coolant.#2.600 miles- transmission/ ecu /throttle delay , a 3-5 sec delay in the response when going from (r) into (d) and the same 3-5 sec delay is duplicated when going from a stop to accelerating the car. Concerning.#3 3000 miles, loud wind noise is heard from all windows.windows were replaced by dealer, but noise still exists. #4the gas door will not release and continues to get stuck.#58,500 miles- excessive water entering into engine bay.while driving the engine bay gets completely soaked with water.standing water in the battery tray, a river of water running down the inner fender walls inside the engine bay and water is entering into the fuse box. When engine gets wet it has a burning electrical smell. Water has also been found on the drivers side floorboard an in the spare tire area of trunk.#62,200 miles starting/motor concerns. The car will crank over, but doesn't start. The second attemptthe car starts up and dies immediately.3rd attemptcar fires off an associated with bad gas smell/ rough running. The most recent time this happened to us (12/12/15), 1st attempt the car wouldn't start, 2nd time trying to start the car is fired up then died. 3rd attempt car started up running rough w/ a bad gas odor. It's associated w/ backfiring / popping sound through the exhaust. Recently has developed a low end sound/knock in motor between 1800 and 2200 rpms.#7 11,500 miles brake pedal goes to floor. Pedal isn't holding pressure. Vehicle pulls to the right an associated with a clunking sound coming from the right front wheel.

I was driving in the highway when my car has and issue with the brakes, i saw the brake button was (that's not normal) on and my car was starting to slow down quickly by that time i had a truck behind me that almost hit me from the back do to the brake problem with my car. I leave my car at the dealer(betera subaru hartford ct) since september 3, 2015 they just called me once saying that they know what is the problem and they are going to fix it, but at this time i don't know anything else about it. This is not the first time i have the same problems with my car with the brakes.

Clock spring in steering column is bad.horn does not work.driver's side air bag may be inoperable. Condition exists when vehicle is stationary with ignition off and while it is in motion.

Bought my vehicle and was driving it home, had the defrost on cause the window kept fogging up when i heard a crack and the windshield cracked from the bottom up where the defroster is and they wont replace it, on top of the where u put gas in the car it stuck shut and they told me to pry it open n leave it open till they get a part but it is on back order so don't no when i will get it fixed that occurred thismonth on the gas opener 12/30/2015

I parked my car on a road(neighborhood) with a slight incline.i went around in front of it to look at an item for sale (smalll pink piano) in the yard.i looked at the item, then heard my car take off.i tried to run to get into it to stop it, but it was going too fast.it ended up going to the right and running into the garage of the house i was near.it hit the left hand side of the garage and continued into the garage where it was stopped by some paint cans piled up and the back of the garage.the man who lived in the house was able to squeeze into the drivers side and back it out - i drove it home (about 2 blocks).my insurance company came out and estimated the damage at about $4500, but they have not looked underneath or at the mechanics.subaru is investigating.pictures are too big to upload

The contact owns a 2015 subaru legacy. While driving various speeds, the glare from the sun reflected off the dashboard. The glare prevented the contact from seeing the road clearly. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic to determine the cause of the failure. One year ago, the vehicle was taken to a&t subaru (801 bethlehem pike, sellersville, pa 18960). The contact was informed that due to the finish of the faceplate on the dashboard, it caused the sun to reflect off the dashboard. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000.

My front bumper pops off on a regular basis and my gps had to be replaced more than once. Now it has another problem in the contact area. Letters are missing. If need to find a number under the letter "g",you can't. The area where the letter "g" should be is blank.

Fuel filler door freezes shut. Gas tank cannot be refilled untill ice at the bottom of the door is melted.this happens both while moving and/or stationary.

While driving over rutted roads between 10-15 mph the front of the vehicle makes a thumping/clunking noise. The noise is coming from the front suspension and after driving a loaner that was the same model and year i know this is not normal operation. Three service departments have said the noise is either non-existent or normal. Furthermore the car violently reacts to any road imperfections and bounces on smooth roads.

Vehicle only has 34,000 and front hub bearing assembly needs to be replaced. There is a grand ing noise coming from both front sides at speeds above 35 mph, and gets louder when vehicle turns to the left.

Starlink multimedia features/screen is totally obstructed during daylight driving and the sun is reflected off the factory installed navigational system. The screen displays squiggly lines on a gray/black screen until sun is not reflecting.this is a safety problem as when this is happing the rear view camerais not visible and while driving a quick glance turns into a long look to see what is being displayed!

I have very small chips all over the windshield

Jack failed.after lifting my car to change the tire the jack collapsed, while trying to lift it more.

Just purchased this car (2015 subaru legacy premium) a month ago.am getting water into the engine compartment from merely car washing and i assume from rain as well.this is due from the lack of proper weather stripping on both the right and left side of the hood.my dealership has been advised and i am awaiting to hear if any resolution.the following was listed on a website from another current owner:2015 legacy - water / snow entering top of engine bay & burning smellhi fellow 2015 legacy owners. Has anyone else discovered this design / safety / mechanical defect yet?i live in the northeast usa; owned my 2015 legacy for about 3 months, and have been smelling the engine burning since i purchased.at first, the dealer said the smell was caused by the rustproofing sprayed on the exhaust, however during a snow storm i discovered snow & water entering the top of my engine bay, drenching / flooding over electrical & mechanical components and causing the toxic burning smell from the burn off of deicing chemicals / salts used on road surfaces entering the engine bay due to a lack of weather stripping.my dealer inspected my car last week and confirmed the lack of installed weather stripping and water entering the engine bay as an issue. They confirmed all 2015 legacys are designed this way. They submitted a eqmr (electronic quality monitoring report) to subaru of america; no response yet. (the dealer sends the eqmr to subaru when they encounter an issue that they cannot fix)i am sharing this video to alert all 2015 legacy owners to this issue. This is a serious safety & mechanical defect. Check your engines; conduct your own water/snow tests and share results.contact subaru of america, your dealer and the national highway traffic safety

While driving on the freeway my windshield broke for no apparentreason.

My front bumper pops off on a regular basis and my gps had to be replaced more than once. Now it has another problem in the contact area. Letters are missing. If need to find a number under the letter "g",you can't. The area where the letter "g" should be is blank.

Subaru installed battery installed by subaru in september 2020 failed with out warning. There was no sign of battery weakness nor were there any warning lights or messages of any kind displayed.car was driven, parked and when we came back car would not start. No lights were left or equipment left on. Car is at dealers now being checked. Diablo subaru in walnut creek ca,. Fortunately since the incident occurred when the car was parked there was no danger to us or others.

In february 2017 we experienced unintended acceleration on 6 occasions.we took it to the dealer and they said that there was nothing wrong with the car. They said that we must have done something to cause the acceleration.we know that was not the case, but we continued to drive the car.it happened another time in july.the really bad incident occurred on september 5, 2017 in a parking garage.as we were exiting the parking space, the car took off on its own.this time, we hit a concrete pillar along the side of the car and grazed one parked vehicle before getting the car to stop.also, this time, after we turned off the car and it set for approximately 10 minutes, we turned it back on and the engine continued to severely rev.every time the unintended acceleration occurred, we were either stopped at a light, in traffic, in a parking lot, or at a gas pump or moving very slowly with our foot on the brake as one would in a parking lot when turning into or out of a space.subaru again told us that nothing was wrong with the car and suggested that we must be two footed drivers, which we are not. We have refused to drive the car or take repossession of it.subaru made us get the body of the car repaired before their engineers even looked at it.this was a leased car.subaru said we had to continue to pay off the lease because there is nothing wrong with the car.we know they are wrong.

Replacing the windshield 3 times already in a 2 year period. No chips are created from small interactions with object like little stones but immediate cracks. The vehicle was in stationary and moving positions on a street and higway. Makes me wonder what is going to happen if there would be more serious collision than just a small rock.

Within a month of buying a brand new subaru legacy 2015, my windshield spontaneous cracked while driving on an open-air interstate away from other cars.at first i thought maybe a pebble hit the windshield, but upon later inspection i could not find a distinct starting point for the crack in the windshield crack (no dents or places where something might have hit my car).the crack initiated from the very bottom of the middle of the windshield and extended about 6-8 inches from the bottom of the windshield.

Gas lid would not release after pulling the lever.this has happened mulitiple times prior without me realizing it was a problem because the second time i pulled the lever it would release - this last time it would not release even after multiple pulls - i had to push the gas door forward with the palm of my hand and then pry open

Windshield cracks from edges.no noticeable chips.crack started with rock hits.possible defective glass.

The gas lid wouldn't open when the lever was pulled. I had to take it back to the dealer for it to get fixed.

The contact owns a 2015 subaru legacy. While attempting to cross two lanes of oncoming traffic at an unknown speed, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate and then accelerated without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 900.

When parking in a parking spot at a school going to work, the car accelerated on it's own and went up an embankment and struck a tree causing extensive damage.

Front windshield cracks spontaneously while driving.first occurred on 8/24/17 as described in their tsb with crack starting from the deicer.dealer replaced under warranty.the newly replaced window cracked once again on 9/19/17.this time dealer refused to replace the windshield under warranty and it is not even a month old, insurance had to cover the costs.oem is only option for glass with the eye-sight system.eye-sight also requires calibration by dealership when glass is replaced.the windshield is a critical component to the srs system when an airbag deploys.using such fragile glass is a safety concern.high consumer cost when subaru only covers the first incident.many complaints from other owners and pending class action lawsuit (luong v. Subaru 4:17-cv-03160-ygr).

Sudden loud cracking sound while traveling on interstate.now there is a 3 foot winding crack across the windshield. No evidence of anything striking the glass. Replacement not available for 6 weeks. Dealer advises 500 windshields on backorder for 2015 legacy.

I purchased the vehicle new in february 2015 and my windshield has required replacement three times.the slightest impact (e.g.: a small piece of gravel common on roadways) to the windshield results in huge cracks impeding my vision.the windshield does not simply chip; it always instantly cracks and requires replacement.i have replaced more windshields on this vehicle than all other vehicles i have ever owned combined.because i have the subaru eyesight system, i am required to replace with factory glass which is usually on back-order; this glass is clearly defective.

Windshield crack (2nd time) from bottom right corner of passenger side.vehicle was stationary.

The windshield cracked off the right edge with no visible sign of any chips.

When getting into the car in the afternoon, noticed a huge crack on the windshield starting between the wiper blades and going to the top of the windshield. There was no impact to have caused this. The car was parked in the open on a day where temperatures were mild. Looks like there are quite a few complaints in the subaru forums complaining about the subaru legacy and outback which share the same platform. The issues discussed matches my specific case. Subaru should be encouraged to perform a recall.

In the course of driving around our area, my wife & i parked our new 2015 subaru legacy for an hour to do some shopping. When we got back to the car, we couldn't help but notice a crack on the passenger side front windshield, where there hadn't been one before. We drove immediately to our local subaru dealer, where they noticed a very small ding just below the right windshield wiper, with the aforementioned crack coming from the ding. From my personal experience of close to 50 years of driving, this is the first ever non-crash windshield problem i've had that's had a progressive crack, and this is a brand new car! i'm reading that i'm not the only one with this problem!

A crack randomly appeared starting from the base of the windshield near the wiper on the passenger side. It was stationary.

Three months into owning my new subaru legacy, a small pebble hit my windshield while i was driving at a low speed, resulting in a visible chip. It did not turn into a crack, so i didn't get it filled. However, the windshield has incurred multiple other chips from very small pieces of rock/gravel. I've never seen such a weak windshield, and it's seriously concerning. I have experienced other small issues with the car as well, including a strange pitch in the vehicle horn and a rattling noise coming from the driver's side window. All problems were reported to the dealer, but none were addressed.

Went outside to wash the car and before i even got started i noticed a crack in the windshield.i looks like it started in the very center at the bottom and traveled up and then to the passenger's side.the crack is about 12 inches long.no impact, vehicle wasn't even moving.there was no crack the day before.

The windshield spontaneously cracked starting at the bottom of the glass.was first noticed after being parked in work parking lot and was approximately 6" long; in the morning while running an errand the crack expanded another 6" while the vehicle was parked.

On july 13, 2015, in the morning i saw a crack that hadn't been on my windshield there the day before had started low in the passenger side, near the corner of my 9- month old 2015 legacy. Over the next several days it grew inches a day, straight up and another cracktowards the driving side. No obvious cause - no rock hit nor "star" to start it. The dealer in said windshields are on back order, and want $839 for the replacement and installation. I still haven't had it replaced, waiting to see if subaru is going to take some responsibility, since the internet is filling up with similar accounts.

I have a 2015 subaru legacy with 6000 miles on it. On dec 8th, 2015, i took it to the dealer for routine service, i.e. Oil change filter, tire rotation, system checks and fluid levels, etc. I waited for the car. I was told to come back and look at the windshield in the service bay. I was told that there was a crack (horseshoe shaped) around the center top of the windshield. The crack was not there when i brought it in because i had the car washed and i wiped off the windows myself prior to going up to the dealers. I would have noticed the crack. There is no ding or star shape mark that i can see on the window. It looks to me like the crack started on the inside around the rear view mirror area. I have read quite a few reports of unexplained cracks in legacy and outbacks. 2015 models. It appears to be a windshield defect. I'm waiting for them to get back to me about replacing the windshield. They better not give me a hard time because i am their worst nightmare. The dealership that i went to is a reputable dealer, i just hope they do the right thing. *dt

The windshield is defective. It seems to crack and chip with any impact at all. Road salt at city speeds has caused chips. I have had the windshield replaced and the replacement subaru glass is also defective.

While traveling on the open interstate, the windshield started to crack.the crack started in the lower driver side corner, under the wiper blade.in less than 30 min, the crack extended up and over, in-front of the driver's view and extended to the center.from the outside, you can feel the crack.if you push on the windshield, you can tell that the windshield is weak, poor quality, and a obvious safety issue.

1.5 months after purchasing car, noticed vertical ~1 inch crack (while driving, but only because i was driving into the sun) in windshield above steering wheel. There was no audible cracking noisewindshield was on backorder, and got replaced.noticed new crack in same area, on inside of windshield. (was driving into sun, but no audible noise) 12/11/2015 mileage 6323replaced windshield 1/18/2015. Mileage 6508parked vehicle under light, and notice approximately 3 inch scratch (vertical, in same area as the last 2. Windshield was less than 12 hours old

I was driving down the road for my commute to class when i heard a loud pop kind of like a gun shot. This is when i noticed that my car was getting colder, and i saw that my sunroof had exploded. This had happened when i was going around 57mph up a hill with the closest person in front of me to be a good 1/2 or 1 mile away. As well as there not being any trees or anything above me, since i was in the left lane at the time.

I packedthecar in the garage perfectly ok then in the morning it had a cracked windshield about 6 in. I had the car for 6 weeks and odometer was at 2100 mil. It cracked in the driver side up and now is almost in the other side in weird pather up and down and up and down . I went to dealership and they told me that was a very small chip therefore is not covered by bumper to bumper -). Later i went to fast glass - they are not thrilled to change it - reason been they did a lot of new subaru with original glass and then 1 -2 weeks later same people are back with a cracked windshield. ..they are willing to suport my claim.

I was driving on the interstate at 65 mph when the car ahead of me must have kicked up a small pebble that hit the windshield. The pebble put a small chip in the passanger side windshield & within 1/2 an hour there was a crack about 6" long running towards the center of the windshield. When i went around a clover leaf exit to get off the interstate the windshield crackedanother 6" towards the center of the windshield. The pebble was very small & should have made no more than a small chip in the windshield. I hope the crack will not continue to grow; the windshield must have some kind of manufacturing flaw in it.i hope it is still safe to drive the vehicle as i do not have the $500.00+ to replace the windshield at this time.?

Crack in windshield appeared without known cause.in searching the internet for similar incidents there are a number of new subaru legacy owners who have this same experience.the glass is on backorder so repairs may be several weeks out.some of the owners have reported more than one cracked windshield on the same new vehicle.

Transmission slips, gas cap does not close/open properly and "sticks." constant buzzing sound from windows even after they were replaced and the moonroof will not close properly when pressing the button for the first time. The moonroof will close and then open again.

We have owned the car for 14 month's and have had to replace the windshield 6 times due to cracking. Other cars in the same household have never had to have their windshields replaced.there is obviously some kind of defect associated with this vehicle.contacted subaru dealer with no help.

Herd a small noise while driving at 50 miles/hr. Not seen any crack on the windshield. But after few hours, saw a chip mark and within one day the crack developed to 2foot length. The manufacturer sent me a letter saying that there was a manufacturing defects on the deicer area and cracks on this area is covered. My crack is little above this area and they say it is not covered. I do not understand this. Please advice me.thankskoshy

Windshield developed small crack. Grew over time. Subaru had new parts under national backorder. Numerous reports of cracks developing for no apparent reasons. See:http://legacygt.com/forums/

Out of nowhere the windshield started to crack - started on the edge of the windshield on the passengerside about 8-10 inches from the bottom - at this point it has spread past the middle of the windshield leaving a horizontal crach that pretty much split my windshield in have - the winshield is currently on backorder with no eta as to whenit will be available

I have a 2015 legacy with 2 window cracks. I received a notice in the mail regarding extended warranty from subaru that they would cover replacing the windshield. I took it to the dealer today and they said it is not covered that it looks like impact happened to windshield. When i dropped off the vehicle last night there was only 1 crack and today there are 2. There was no impact to the windshield and the dealer says they don't do it there. I need your help. The windshield was defective and subaru admitted it but the dealers don't want to fix. I will also need the one site re calibrated once the window is replaced which they say is not covered. How could that be? they said i should file an insurance claim which seems like insurance fraud.

Windshield suddenly developed a crack a few inches from the bottom toward the center closer to the passenger side.vehicle was 3 months old at the time.there was no known stone hit and no obvious starting point for the crack.crack spread over the next day across the entire windshield.windshield had to be replaced at a cost of $500.

The windshield cracked from the lower passenger side. Three large cracks one of which is now almost all the way over in front of the driver. There was a chip where the crack started. The big problem is that the windshields are on back order with no idea how long it will be to get a replacement. I have had cars with rock chips before and usually get them filled, but this windshield cracked almost immediately while on a road trip. I think it is obvious that subaru has a problem with poor quality windshields if they cannot make them fast enough to replace all the damaged ones. The car does have the eyesight system and there is no aftermarket windshield available.

While traveling on the interstate at approximately 70 mph, the glass in the moonroof spontaneously shattered. There was not another vehicle near enough to cause the damage and neither my wife or i saw anything come from the front & strike the vehicle. After we stopped to check the damage, the moon roof appeared that it had been pushed upward from inside the vehicle causing it to shatter. The moon roof cover inside the vehicle was also closed when this occurred.

The contact owns a 2015 subaru legacy. The contact stated that the windshield fractured. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the fracture was due to stress on the windshield. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,500.

Especially, while driving on the highway, i could hear the unusual spinning of the wheels. It happened about a year ago, and when i brought it to the attention of the front desk clerk at the quality subaru in wallingford, ct., he informed me that he will let the technician know. He never wrote anything regarding my concerns on the slip with the oil change information. The technician said, that he did not see anything wrong with it, it could be the surface of the highway or my tires. I purchased new tires, install new brakes and the noise was still there. Onfebruary 25, 2020, i went through another multipoint inspection, and this time, the technician found both rear wheel bearings noisy and recommended replacing them for $1155.oo plus tax and my car had 69057 miles. My complaint is that the same noise was there about a year ago when my car was 55000 miles and i kind of used to this noise. Please make a note of it. Thank you.
