Takata recall
On 11/18/13, at approximately 5:15 pm, i was heading down a street to make a left to go home from work.all of a sudden the car accelerated and would not slow down after i pushed down on the brake with my right foot.i immediately began to turn the wheel to the right onto an empty street to avoid two other cars at the intersection who were going to make the same left i originally wanted to make. For some reason, the car did not go all the way right and went diagonally from the intersection across the street.the car then jumped a curb hitting an electrical pole.at that point, i was pulled out of the car by another driver who saw the incident because when hitting the pole, live wires were dangling from the pole.i was taken across the street away from the car and waited for police and paramedics to come.
Takata recall.recall notice indicates that 'until this repair is performed, do not allow passengers to tide in the front passenger seat.' i called the dealer, beard subaru, as soon as the notice arrived but was told there was a waiting list and i would have to wait until may. That puts my vehicle out of service for at least two months!
Takata recalli have o notices from courts that my car is equipped with these defective airbags.i called my dealership, hansel subaru in sana rosa, ca, and was told "there are a lot of scams going around."i was told there is no recall, which nhtsa confirms, and to call subaru america, which gave me a recorded message full of legal gibberish.i feel i am driving around in a dangerous car, and no remedy is available.somebody has to do something that makes sense!

This is the 3rd time in 5 years that i have had to replace the low beam headlights on both sides of my vehicle. Seems to be an inferior system or electrical issue. This results in a safety concern especially if driving at night not to mention the cost and hassle of having to change out the lamps so often.
Car had previously been cut off 5-10 minutes prior. Went to move vehicle, started it like normal, upon putting it in reverse the engine shut off. Had to place vehicle in park and take key back out and restart.
Experienced stuck driver's window last summer in period of temperature fluctuations (extreme to moderate heat), reported/shown to dealership; same issue this february (extreme to moderate cold). Otherwise, no problems with car since began lease fall 2014.on monday, march 9, 2015, parked car across the street from my house about 6:15/6:30pm.did errands, returned about 30/45 minutes later to get glasses out of center console -- 7/7:15pm.then i locked the car with remote key piece.car acknowledged with sound, lights. This was the last interactive action taken with car.car had been idle for 30/45 minutes. I saw nothing new, unusual.i returned to the car approximately 12 hours later, around 7am, tuesday, march 10, 2015 to get in the car to go to work.the remote key system was not functioning; a first since i'd gotten the car.i tried the car key in the front driver's door.didn't work.again odd.i tried the back driver's side door; it was open (again odd; i'd locked the car the previous evening).i bent inside, looked toward the driver's door and noticed the door's manual door lever mangled.i worried the car might have been vandalized overnight (unusual; i live in a low-crime neighborhood). There was a powerful, chemical-like smell in the car.i came around to the passenger side, bent in through the front passenger door. Experienced strong chemical smell again. From this vantage point, i noticed the driver's side door, on the side by the dash and front wheel, was burnt and gutted; part of dash adjacent burnt. I looked outside of the car; saw no exterior damage.found no personal items missing, including loose change left in car for tolls/meters.asked neighbors living on part of street where the car was parked; they had not seen a fire or explosion that morning or previous evening.called state farm to report the incident.took pictures 8am.
The contact owned a 2014 subaru legacy. The contact stated that her son was driving and hit a deer that caused extensive front end damage. The vehicle was taken to an auto body repair facility for repairs. However, a week after the repairs were completed her son was driving again when he smelt smoke and looked out the driver side window and saw flames. The driver parked the vehicle and exited the vehicle safely with the front seat passenger. The fire department was called and extinguished the fire. Police and fire department reports were filed. The contact stated that the fire marshall stated that with the extent of the damage an electrical failure cause could not be ruled out. There were no injuries and the vehicle was completely totaled. The wreckage was towed to a salvage yard for the insurance company to examine with a third-party examiner to determine the cause of fire. The manufacturer was contacted and requested to examine the vehicle after the insurance company. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.
Im not the only one. The headlights go on and off. I have contacted other owners about this issue for this model year. Its very dangerous to be driving and the lights go out. Subaru has ignored owners.i went to replace a bulb but the bulb is brand new. There is a serious and dangerous defect in this 2010-2014 model year subaru.
I purchased my brand new 2014 subaru legacy on may 16th 2014. About one week later i was driving up the slight incline of the driveway of the apartment house where i live. As i reached the street i stepped on the accelerator to turn out into the traffic and the car completely lost power. About 5 seconds later the power returned and the car responded normally when i stepped on the accelerator pedal and i was able to drive the car normally. Three or four days later the same thing happened again while i was driving in traffic, as i tried to accelerate the car's engine lost power when i stepped on the accelerator. This same loss of power now happens about two or three times each week. I currently have about 2500 miles on the car. I have taken it to my local subaru dealership on three separate occasions for this complaint and they have kept the car for a total of about thirty day for observation, testing, and repair but they have been unable to reproduce or solve the problem and can find nothing wrong with my car. They warned me about driving with two feet because if the brake is applied at the same time as the accelerator a problem like this could occur but i do not drive using both feet and have always driven using only one foot.
Vehicle had a 2-5 seconds acceleration hesitation.taking off from a yield sign and going across a hwy, the car had enough power to roll forward.tried flooring the accelerator, but also did not respond to full throttle until after a few seconds the car started to slowly move. The engine is on low rpms and does not launch forward as to indicate a transmission issue..... It looks more like a fuel delivery or throttle sensor issue.i also had this same issue with a 2013 subaru impreza (traded in the impreza thinking it was a quirk with the car).subaru dealer was not been able to reproduce the issue on the impreza or the on the legacy.no error codes present.i contacted subaru of america, i was instructed to take the car (legacy) to the dealer. The technician was not asked to attach any kind of diagnostic equipment to possibly capture valuable data in the event that the issue was reproduced. When the problem has manifested, i have accelerated from a complete stop or from a slow rolling yield, then 2 - 5 second delay in acceleration - very slow roll forward.i shared this information with the dealer. My family and i almost got hit a few weeks ago by a car going around 60 mph and i was almost hit when driving the impreza (let the car roll back to avoid being hit - i was on small incline leaving my neighborhood and trying to merge onto a hwy).many subaru owners are having the same issue (old / new vehicles). There are some blogs where customers mention having been in an accident because of this issue and plenty of blogs where customers report the problem and frustration when the problem cannot be reproduced and are sent home without a fix.how can safercar.gov help communicate the importance of the issue to subaru before a fatality?

My car keeps running on low oil before the liisted next oil change .and a subaru dealership changes it everytime its due. Called them up after the third time it happened and they said to just add oil
The contact owns a 2014 subaru legacy. The contact stated that the vehicle consumed oil too quickly. The vehicle was taken to liberty subaru (55 kinderkamack rd, emerson, nj 07630, (201) 261-0900) to be diagnosed, the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 62,922. The vin was invalid. *dt consumer stated engine needs to repaired or replacement in addition, the air bag needs to be replaced. Engine oil was analyzed andfound water in it.consumer stated dealer agrees there is a problem and engine teardown was schedule. Vin invaalid
The contact owns a 2014 subaru legacy. The contact stated while driving at approximately58 mph the driver side headlamp became inoperable. The contact also stated that the fog lamps were also inoperable. The headlamp bulbs and fog lamp bulbs were replaced however, the failure recurred. A local dealer was not contacted. Head lights keep burning out on this vehicle, both driver and passenger side (low beam) have been replaced 3 times so far over a period of 2 years.
Low beam headlight bulb keep blowing out. Replaced 4x in the past. Twice last month. This is a safety concern/issue especially if driving at night not to mention the cost and hassle of having to change out the lamps so often.

At 87k miles, driver side low beam was burned out, since changing the bulb is done via the fender lining, it is very difficult to do yourself. Brought it to the dealer who then found that 3 other bulbs were out. (inner/outer markers, d/s bulb). The technician mentioned that the 2014 legacy had a design issue whereby multiple lights can fail, once the low beam goes. He also mentioned the design was corrected for 2015 model year. Cost $94 to change the bulbs.

The mechanical adjustment for the upper seat back does not engage properly. It requires the driver to pull the seat-back forward to engage, otherwise the handle will remain the up position.the dealer replaced the seat under warranty, but it did not fix the problem. The device manager stated that the mechanical seats have that issue on several of their vehicles, including different years.if in an accident and the seat is not engaged properly it could result in injury.

12/7/16i have had a problem twice when i had no control of the steering wheel.i report'd it to the dealership in racine, wi.they did not seem concern'd.some one stated they had never heard of its occurring prior to my statement to them.another stated it was not dangerous.i stated it was to me.i believe he was the lead salesman. Both times were scary to me.there is some type of device in two places on the steering wheel.they seem to be "plastic" & are close to a rectangular/square shape.i believe one has a minus sign on the left & a plus sign on the right.i believe they are there if i should decide to drive in the manual position instead of the automatic position.each time this occurred, this device somehow ended up in my coat or jacket pocket & prevent'd me from having control of the steering wheel.the car turn'd too far to the left, taking me over the center line.luckily there was no one coming in the other direction when i braked.the second time it occurred, i was on the top section of the ramp parking lot where i volunteer at the hospital.i was wearing a different coat this time from the one i wore the first time.the vehicle was in motion both times when i had no control.i had ask'd at the racine dealership if they could be removed.the lead salesman stated "no".i have not report'd the second incident to them due to their cavalier attitude.this dealership has relocated to kenosha, wi.i have also switch'd to a different service center in milwaukee, wi.( schlossman's )--- due to the same reason.i do not know how to upload & my printer is not working.i apologize, this is the best i can do for you.thank you for this opportunity to report these incidents to you.i appreciate it & am grateful for it.
The car dangerously wanders all over the road sometimes even into another lane and requires constant steering correction.the dealer aligned the steeringbut no improvement.many others have the same problem and subaru won't fix, says it's normal.
The contact owns a 2014 subaru legacy. While driving 55 mph, a loud pop noise was heard. The contact continued driving as he thought a rock struck the windshield. There were no warning indicators illuminated. Upon arriving home and exiting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the sun roof had shattered, but was still intact. The vehicle was taken to subaru calgary (1100 meridian rd ne, calgary, ab t2a 2n9, canada, (855) 910-6109), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The sun roof was replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

2014 subaru legacy.consumer writes in regards to clamp that holds vehicle bumper replacement issues.the consumer noticed several months after she purchased the vehicle, the bumper had popped out. She managed to push it back in. However, the same thing happened on another occasion.the dealer informed the consumer, the clamp that held the bumper in place was missing and it was possible she may have went over a bump in the road which may have caused them to become loose, and eventually lost. A new clamp was installed and there was no problem, until the fall. While driving, the consumer a heard a noise. When she exited the vehicle, she discovered the bumper was hanging from the vehicle. Evidently, she had been dragging the bumper for several miles and the bottom became scratched and torn. Vehicle stalls and hesitates from completes and shudders when coming to a stop usually at intersections. Contributing factor is torque converter and possibly valve body. Known safety issue to subaru that is no longer covered by warrenty.
Door locks either don't unlock or lock. They must be done manually. This caused a problem with a child in the back seat. You cannot get the door unlocked from the outside using the remote. We have complained to subaru and they will not fix under warranty. The car was stationary, parking lot. This is a continual problem
Broken clock spring in steering wheel. Result ( horn not working)12
I have had my subaru legacy for a little over 2 years (it's a 2014) and the blue tooth no longer works and i am being told that it's the radio and of course my warranty is up for things like that. I am very unhappywith this since my car is not that old and i shouldn'thave any problems with it at this point.
Periodically the car has been shutting off after i start it. When it's stationery. It will shut off two to three times before it with stay on. Also it has been consuming oil and the oil light comes on before i'm due for an oil change.

The contact owns a 2014 subaru legacy. The manufacturer was notified of the defect and agreed to change the color of the rear deck shelf materials. The failure mileage was 20.

The contact owns a 2014 subaru legacy. The contact stated that the sunroof metal drain tubes were clogged causing water to drain inside the cabin of the vehicle. Due to the failure, there was condensation on the windshield which reduced driver visibility while driving. The contact cleaned the windshield both manually and by activating the windshield defogger. The vehicle was taken to bay ridge subaru (1819 cropsey avenue, brooklyn, ny 11214, (718)232-1900) to have the sunroof drain tubes cleaned which was still pending. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 755.
