On 3/12/99 @ 0330 said vehicle was eastbound on i-70 and 3rd in topeka, kansas.the vehicle hit a patch of black ice and swerved out of control impacting the k-rail divider wall on the driver side front @ 55 mph.the inertia generated by the force of the impact then caused the vehicle to slingshot back across the interstate and impact w/ the overpass wall on the passenger side front @ 45 mph. The srs airbags did not deploy.i have been told several times at the dealearship that both of the airbag sensors in the front bumper must be triggered at the same time in order to deploy the airbags.both sensors were triggered, just not at the exact same time.i feel that the sensors should operate independently of each other and each should be able to trigger the airbags.my wife and i feel that this constitutes a flaw in the design of the vehicle and that something must be done to prevent people from being killed in a crash and the airbags fail to deploy.the vehicle is at figgs imports, inc. In topeka, kansas.their phone number is 785-267-2390.we would greatly appreciate a quick response to this report.thank you.

Car has pulled to the right since purchase.purchased vehicle late sept., 1998.ac did not work very well, but weather was cool and it was not a pressing issue.the following spring/summer, took in for repairs to dealer in evansville.ac still worked intermittently.accident 5/19/99 where i rear-ended a van at approx. 20 mph., airbags did not deploy.ac still only working intermittently.on 9/17/99, after driving the car approximately 25 miles at 65 mph, i noticed the temp gauge was above the "h" and pulled over.the car died and never restarted.overheated to the extent that after engine died, smoke billowed out the exhaust/tail pipe and over 3 hours after the car was shut off, radiator fluid still boiled over when added.dealer unable to provide explanation for overheating or ac problems.subaru regional representative has refused to return my calls for questions about the repairs.

The speed and damage costs are guesses only.the problem was the airbags failed to deploy in a front end collision at a decent rate of speed. After the insurance investigator sees the car i'll be able to make a more detailed report.please call if you have any questions.

I was stopped at the intersection of 23rd and union in seattle on my way to work.i was going north.it was about 7:40 a.m. On tuesday, 5/20/2014.i looked in my rearview mirror and saw a car coming up behind me and it looked like it was going to fast to stop.the driver didn't even seem to slow down.my car was hit pretty hard.my airbag did not deploy.as far as i can recall my head or face did not hit the steering wheel.we got out of our cars.i did not see a license plate on his car either on the front or back of his car.i think that he said that he did not have his driver license...i'm not quite sure now.his car was a orange reddish mercedes, it looked like an suv.it had tan interior.we moved our cars to the gas station parking lot to talk about the accident.my neck felt sore and painful.i decided to go to work as i drove my side began to hurt a lot, so i went to the doctor.there are new scratches on my bumper and other than that i can't tell if there is any other damage to the car.

Brakes failed resulting in accident no deployment of both passenger and driver side air bags during collision.nlm

I was almost at a dead stop when the car just surged foward once and before i could put the brake on, it surged foward again and sent me through a plate glass window at duncun donutswe hit a pole between the two windows very hard and the air bags didn't deploy.

Neither air bag deployed in a frontal collision at 35 mph.front end was smashed in.

While traveling about 35 mph vehicle was involved in a head-on collision, there was no deploymen of the front air bags. There was a very goodpossibility thatvehicle will be totalled. Please provide any further informaton.

While traveling down interstate 5, the traffic slowed due to an accident on the opposite side of the fwy., upon noticing the traffic slowing i released my foot from the acceleratorthe traffic came to a complete stop, i stepped on the brakes applying them all the way.i had plenty of time to stop the car in order to avoid an accident.unfortunately the cars brakes didn't stop the car, and the car stopped when i hit the car in front of me.the air bags didn't deploy either.i had the same type of accident in march of 2000.i just felt maybe it was my fault and didn't think about it much.the air bags didn't deploy at this time either, and i felt it was because i was going slow, and the impact wasn't enough to make them come out.upon having my brakes checked this past summer the mechanic noticed the actual pads on the brakes were smaller than the pads that came up when looked up in the parts book.the pads on my car were for a 13 inch tire and my car has 15 inch tires.he also stated that the brakes didn't stop my car very accurately.upon learning this i checked for a recall and found out that the master cylinder on my car was involved in a recall.at this time i went to the dealer where i purchased the car.they looked the recall up and gave me a print out that stated the recall was indeed completed.the problem is the car doesn't stop properly in emergency situations.i am a single mother with two children, and i "taxi" them to numerous activities.my concern is the safety of this car.the brakes don't respond properly and the air bags don't deploy.the insurance adjustor told me that abs brakes are made to keep from going out of control, not stopping the car.if this is indeed the case i will never be safe in this particular car.

No deployment of both frontal air bags during vehicle collision resulting in injury. *mjs

While driving40-45 mph an accident occurred.upon impact, air bags did not deploy.passenger sustained injuries.please provide any further information.

The design of the rear, center seatbelt conflicts with the proper installation of many carseat designs.to date, we have tried century encore, century horizon, century smartmove, evenflo on my way (without base).with all of these carseats, it was not possible to secure the carseat tight enough to prevent movement.the use of a locking clip did not help.the dealer and manufacturer have both been contacted.per the dealer, the suggestion was to read the owner's manual.when informed that has been done, the dealer responded that the car seat should not be placed in the center.when i then read to the dealer from the owner's manual the proper installation in the center seat, dealer responded with 'it's new to me.'the manufacturer took vague information regarding the complaint.i had to volunteer more complete information such as the vin.this is a known problem to the manufacturer.question, how can the manufacturer of a station wagon which touts safety, design a belt which is not safe?

While driving at highway speeds there was a loud noise then the vehicle stalled out almost causing an accident. The vehicle was towed, it was later found that this problem was a result of a defective electrical system. Mr

The speedometer and odometer started working intermittently about four month ago. The dealer says the speedometer will have to be replaced at a cost of approximately $430+ (parts and labor). The vehicle is only 8years old with less than 110,000 miles. Several other consumers submitted identical complaints.

Leaking coolant and replaced radiator, thermostat and still leaking and started to overhead.found out it was head baskets and did research on recalls for this year make and model.found out on forums that there were multiple problems with both types of engines that year the single and dual overhead cam engines and all around the same mileage, but only the single overhead cam engine had the recall.i feel there should be a recall on the dual overhead cam engine as well.

Started noticing a problem when coming down a long, steep hill with extensive shuddering when braking.when i got into town, there was a even more shuddering when coming to a stop at a red light. I had to pull on the parking brake to stop the car.when we started up again, it pulled very hard so we pulled over and when i put the car into neutral, the engine raced up above 4,000 rpm.i shut the engine off, but when it was started again, it raced again.i eased it safely home a short distance away with the uncontrolled acceleration problem continuing.

I recently bought a used 1999 subaru legacy wagon. The previous owner told me there was an oil leak that resulted from the oil filter fracturing. This caused smoke to come from oil burning on the hot exhaust manifold. After owning the car for a few days, i had the oil changed and noticed that the vehicle still smokes around the exhaust manifold after driving it. I can also hear oil dripping from the filter onto the manifold. While online reviewing my car insurance, i noticed that this very problem is a recall defect. I followed instructions and called subaru about this. The representative named patricia said that there was no recalls for this vehicle and quickly ended the conversation. I know this is an issue with this vehicle and need this addressed. My wife and baby ride in this car.the recall # is -98v127000. Thank you.

Car overheated randomly. Have replaced radiator, water pump, 3 thermostats, head gaskets, and had heads machined at shop. Still overheated and died frequently.had it to mechanic multiple times. Each time they say it was fixed. Being towed back to repair shop today because it won't even start now.

Engine failure due to cracked #2 piston; cross member was mis-manufactured-camber could not be adjusted to spec.

Dt:the contact states there is a nhtsa recall campaign id #98v127000 concerning the engine. This consumer experienced the same symptoms as indicated in the recall, but his vehicle identification number was not included in the recall. There have been no repairs to the vehicle.

Complained several times to dealer that car had no power, poor gas mileage, hesitation upon starting out, motor fell apart at 66,000 miles on interstate.car, although a new motor, continues to have no power, poor gas mileage, hesitation upon starting out.what's going to keep the motor from blowing up again, and maybe we be killed.o2 and pt sensors continues to blow.sunroof will not open;advised a new one would be $975. Sunroof complaint at 13,680 miles.

Engine check light came on. Dealer said i had a burned cylinder. This was at 108,000 miles. A second mechanic confirmed that misfiring in cylinder no. 4 was occurring and further stated that compression in all four cylinders was below specificiations. He further stated that the defect occurred during manufacturing and was not a result of anything i did or did not do to the car. Subaru of american contacted and offered $1,000 toward a new car, but said otherwise it was my problem because the car was out of warranty.

Car hesitates to accelerate until 2500 rpm, then jumps.

Vehicle leaks oil, and the oilflaws all overengine.dealership is aware of problem.

Park lights stay illuminated whenvehicle is shuts off.dealer has been notified. Please provide additional information.

Brake light switch has a crack on one side, and clip is broken on clip housing ,wire tie is holding brake light switch together. This defect is causing brake light to become inoperative, and shift to lock up.

Dt*:the contact stated the check engine light is constantly illuminated.the vehicle was taken to dealer for diagnostic test; the code was p133 flow air meter.there is nhtsa technical service bulletin # wwg90, regarding the fuel system air flow meter sensor.the vehicle has the same problem as indicated in the technical service bulletin.the manufacturer was alerted.

Fuel filler pipe leaks gas when filling.

The contact owns a 1999 subaru legacy outback. The contact stated that while refueling, the filler neck corroded and fuel emitted from the tank. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer confirmed that the filler neck needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileages were 128,782.

The contact owns a 1999 subaru legacy. The contact noticed thatthe check engine light appeared on the warning panel.the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the gas cap caused the light to appear on the dashboard. The contact then examined the vehicle while it was turned on and noticed that gasoline was leaking underneath the vehicle. The failure mileage was 169,000 and the current mileage was 172,000.

Engine warning light came on.dealer did analysis and states that fuel filler 'pipe' is corroded and needs to be replaced.costly.fuel system should not corrode.fire hazard??????? car is 6 yrs old and 67,000 careful miles.

Fuel warning light has never worked according to manufacturer's specifications, which is with 2.5 gallons remaining in the tank.typically, mine only comes on with less than 1 gallon remaining, and even then usually only after i've stopped the car and then restarted.the dealer replaced the fuel pump, but the problem remained.i contacted subaru national customer support and after consulting with their tech support personnel (atlanta?), i got a lot of double talk about not being able to control factors involved in my testing (i.e., repeated documentation).in other words, they refused to inspect or otherwise deal with the problem. I have many receipts showing fill-ups well beyond the specification warning level where where fuel light never came on.this is a safety issue because running out of gas on a highway with traffic at high speeds due to no warning light is a serious hazard.it is not something i look to create, but it does arise in highway or other conditions from time to time. Hesitation, surging, and bucking at mid-range engine rpms. This has been a recurrent problem despite replacement of the throttle position sensor x3.

With no prior warning, at approx 90km/h or 55 mph south bound on hwy-11 near orillia, on, canada. The hood latch failed, causing the hood to come back and shatter the windshield. There were no injuries, and my wife maintained safe control of the vehicle onto the paved shoulder. I found other complaints of this issue on line but the local dealership disavows any knowledge of this issue. Wecalled our insurance company and discovered they had reduced our coverage on the vehicle to liability only with out consulting us.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Hood striker came loose from hood. Hood came open while driving on freeway. Crashing into windshield and causing an automobile accident. Fortunatly no one was injured in accident and car is being repaired

Hesitation, surging, and bucking at mid-range engine rpms. This has been a recurrent problem despite replacement of the throttle position sensor x3.

Consumer test drove vehicle and ended up skidding into a ditch, due to design of the all wheel drive with a standard transmission, poor directional control on turns which allowed for loss of control.*mjs

Driving in heavy traffic in the left lane of i-78, the shifter popped out of 5th gear by itself (that is, without any human intervention).the vehicle completely lost power immediately, as it was now in neutral.

The speedometer on my vehicle became inconsistent. Sometimes it wouldn't work as soon as i started the car, other times it would stop working at any random time while driving anywhere.eventually, when it stopped working, the odometers would stop as well.when i went to my subaru dealer to replace the component. They told me there was a national back order and i would have to wait indefinitely for the part to come in.they also told me that they had been replacing a lot of speedometer heads on my make and year of car.i think it is unusual for a speedometer to break down after less than three years and under 65,000 miles of initial service. I have never heard of that happening on such a young car, and if it is happening on many cars of the same make and year, i think that an original part must have been defective for this car.i think that a broken speedometer is hazardous to driving on the road and therefore this should be investigated. I really don't want to worry about having to replace my speedometer every three years of my car's life.dt

Transmission downshifts and vehicle on snow packed highways causing vehicle to jerk and swerve resulting in loss of control.yh

While slowing vehicle on hills, there is a jerking motion which can not be rectified, it is engaging into gear. Mjs

The transmission has a design defect which causes it to abruptly and without warning shift down while descending a long grade.this has resulted in two instances of momentary loss of control of the vehicle in icy/slippery conditions.in addition, it will materially and significantly shorten the life of the transmission.furthermore, it has scared passengers on numerous occaions due to the jerking of the car which results from this design defect.i have contacted the manufacturer which sent me to the dealer.no relief.i asked for the zone representative to call me and it has not taken place.the manufacturer has indicated on the phone that this is 'normal behavior' .i am told that this design defect has been removed from year 2000 legacy outbacks.if true, that would be tacit admission that the design was flawed as it was not implented in any year but 1999.i have asked the manufacturer to install a new transmissioncontrolunit which eliminates this design flaw, since it would be a relatively simple software modification.they have indicated their reluctance to do so.while the aspect of the jerkiness of the car and the shortened lifespan of the transmission could be chalked up to 'tough kaka', the loss of control (albiet of a very temporary nature so far) resulting from an abrupt gear change down in icy conditions is a safety concern.the manufacturer said that a shift would be of no concern, to which i suggested they ask miki haakinnen, a race driver who lost a race due to the wrong gear being selected....one below the one he expected, which spun him out of the race.i have experienced a similar yaw from the abrupt gear change.thankfully for the safety of my passengers and myself, i, too, have experience with racecars.....if not for practiced reflexes during the icy-condition downshifts referenced, i am quite confident that the car would have ended up off the road.

Automatic transmission problem: hesitates going into gear. Get stuck in neutral. Shift through the gears to see if it will go into gear.then try revving engine to slip it into gear. It can suddenly catch into gear and then the car surges forward or backwards, causing a dangerous situation. According to complaint sites on the internet, this is a common problem in 5 years of subaru vehicles. This is not acceptable.repair shop said the seals are "going" and i will likely need a new or rebuilt transmission.subaru should acknowledge the problem and offer a free fix. The car slipped into gear in a parking lot the other day (finally) and my car surged forward, almost hitting another car.i am no longer driving this vehicle (too dangerous).

Vehicle experiencing hard shift and accelerates at higher speeds when going around a corner / when applying the brake's causing failure.

When driving down hill 6% + grade and i lightly touch the brake pedal to slow, our 1999 legacy outback downshifts one or two gears.i have to put the car in neutral then back into drive because it sticks in whatever gear it shifts into at a very high rpm.it does this from 40 to 70 mph, but only on a steep grade.it does this with or without the cruse control turned on.the frequency of the problem is increasing.it is my opinion as a retired accident reconstruction specialist from the washington state patrol that this has tremendous accident potential on surfaces with a reduced coefficient of friction (ice, snow or rain).the transmission functions properly at all other times.camelback subaru in phoenix, az., indicates they can not duplicate the problem, yet there is a history of the problem at nhtsa with the very same symptoms.

Failure occurs when stopped and then attempting to proceed.car behaves as though it is in neutral when it is still in drive.this has occurred many times although intermittent.after a few minutes the transmission has caught. Taken to dealer 2 times (roberts subaru, downingtown, pa) and although they kept car and drove for a few days they could find nothing wrong.this failure has almost caused car to be rear ended 2 times.

Dt:consumer has a 1999 subaru legacy and complained abouta transmission problem. Whenthe consumer started the vehicle and put into drive it idled and then wentinto drive.when comingto a complete stop, thevehicle went into a mode.the consumer had to rev the engine and it would kick in.the consumer took the vehicleto thedealership and was told therewas a problem with the seal andthe transmission had to be replaced. Consumer feltit was too soon to replace the transmission at 61,000.the consumer noticed the problem approximately three months ago.

When i'm going down a decline at around 40mph and the transm. Is in 4th gear and i am coasting and begin to apply the brake the care will shift into 3rd gear and rev the engine to around 3500-4000 rpm.i feel this sudden unexpected transmission shift could cause a loss of traction on slippery roads which is the purpose of my buying an all wheel drive vehicle.

The contact owns a 1999 subaru legacy.the contact stated that the transmission will shift into neutral without warning.there is a 15-20 second delay when shifting the vehicle from park to drive.the vehicle was diagnosed as needing a new transmission.the purchase date was unknown.the current mileage is 86,000 and failure mileage was 83,000.the consumer stated lou thomas suburu informed him the transmission could be repaired for $3400 close to the value of the car, but the consumer never had the car fixed at that repair shop. The consumer shopped at other transmission shops one informed could rebuild the transmission but would results may not be good. The consumer purchased a transmission from the salvage yard had it installed and found that it was infact defective. The consumer stated the vehicle has not been fixed to satisfaction and been parked ever since. Updated 07/06/07

Downshifting on inclines:purchased a 1999 subaru outback legacy wagon new on nov. 11/11/98, at fucillo imports, watertown, ny.the downshifting problems occur when going down large hills around 60 mph, gently applying the brakes to slow the vehicle, letting off the brakes, and the downshift jerks you forward.when the automobile was brand new, the abrupt jerk would put my head into the windshield.the salesperson told me that it was the way i drove the car.odometer failure during august, 2002, the vehicle started intermittent odometer failures.the odometer would drop from ?? to 0 for a few seconds, and then gradually resume.after 6 mo. The dealership did replicate the problem and i had to have the odometer replaced for approximately $200. Transmission hesitation and abrupt engagement in august 2002 (about the same time as the intermittent odometer failure, and the crank seal leak / replacement) the car developed problems with a hesitation when putting the car into drive.on a cold incline start, the vehicle will roll backwards several feet before engaging in drive.after reversing, the hesitation will leave me without any drive power, before jerking into gear. The dealership saw the car in december 2002 (at 65,179 miles) and documented (but not duplicated) the problem.transmission conditioner treatments haved eased the jerking.now, 2 years later, a service manager finally duplicated the hesitation and roll back. And suggested transmission replacement for $2,500.today, the car is over the 60,000 mile warranty at 93,418 miles. I can't help but feel that these problems are related, and are definitely a safety concern.

When letting off or stepping on gas pedal vehicle will begin to jerk due to excessive play in front axle.

Problems with vehicle's clutch.*mr clutch was replaced on three separate occassions due to faulty vehicle.

Vehicle has a manual transmission.when driving in 5th gear, transmission will "drop" out of gear without warning.the 5th gear was repaired on the and there was a packing nut that was supposed to be peened on the gear shaft to keep it from backing off.the manufacturer did not properly peen the transmission.the vehicle needed a new 5th slider nut, retightened, and peened correctly.also in cruise control when the vehicle dropped out of the 5th gear, it caused the engine to race.(outback) *scc

When driving pressed on brakes and very abruptly engine downshifted. Also, when stopping abruptly consumer lurched forward in seat.contact dealer dealer stated it wascommon in 1999 vehicle. Please add vin.

Total brake system failure; when applying the brakes, just after starting the vehicle and backing out of aparking lot, pedal went to the floor and vehcile required more stopping distance. Driver used emergency brake to start vehicle. The vehicle will be checked by a dealer.

Two other people have experienced the brake failures with us.they are willing to report the experience.

Intermittently when brakes are applied in a panic stop, pedal goes to the floor, causing extended stopping distance, resulting in loss of vehicle control.dealer has repaired the abs system prior.when abs fails the cruise control also fails. Manufacturer has been notified.

I was on an entry ramp to interstate 95 and found myself a bit out of line in the road after i had turned to check oncoming traffic.i tried to correct, and lost steering control.car went into fishtail from which i was unable to recover, and eventually spun out into oncoming interstate traffic, where i was hit by a tractor-trailer.roadway was damp, weather misty, temp mid-forties, and i believe there was sand on ramp left over from previous snow/ice treatment.i must say occupant protection worked well.i have cracked sternum (probably from airbag; i am a very short driver and sit way forward) and a knot on my forehead, 2 blakc eyes and lots of bruises, but was in good enough shape to be treated and released from er.i don't know if steering or suspension failure occurred, but wanted you to have the data point in case you can discover a pattern.

Wife coming home from workspring blew and went through tire came to a sudden stop had it fixed when being fixed repair shop said other side was broke to so had both repairedlater found subaru had a recall on this so called them on the 1800 number they saidit was vin spec and ours wasn't on there i wish it met that our car wouldn't have done the same thing. They refused to give any on the repair cost, so they advertise the car is a safe car you hand down to your children but according to the manager i spoke with a 1999 and 140 thousand miles the car was beyondtheir worries. The car is in otherwise good shape.i guess from where they stand if they make it a few yrs on a bad design noone gets hurt they are off the hook . I just think this is unsafe and it should be taken care no matter what ...

Car is one year old, 22,000 miles and the second front bridgestone tire failed. One had a large side bubble, one blew out at 65 mph. (dot number: obt 2 pfbtiresize: p205/55p16)

Tire #1 imploded, next tire collapsed, tire 3 no leaks but air goes( dot number: tire size: 205/55/r16 )

Check engine light remains on - it therefore gives warning for which no detectable cause can be found.subaru of america has been unable to pinpoint the cause of a defect which prevents its engine surveillance system from functioning correctly and is unwilling to commit to fixing it

The speedometer and odometer started working intermittently about one month ago.the dealer says the speedometer will have to be replaced at a cost of approximately $330+ (parts and labor).the vehicle is only 4 years old with less than 60,000 miles.several other consumers submitted identical complaints. *nlm

I have a 1999 subaru legacy.on 2 separate occasions i experience sudden acceleration.once driving on expressway.lasted a few seconds.2nd instance stopped at stop sign, foot on brake, car accelerated.foot was on brake & then put gear in neutral.i called dealership & was told that this happened because heater/ac was on dual m (feet & chest) & this was normal.i have had car checked & there is nothing wrong with it.so they say.based on service mgrs response, others have complained about the acceleration.given the events with toyota --there should be further investigation.*cw

Consumer shifted from park to drive while applying foot on the brake when the vehicle suddenly accelerated, lurching forward about 3 feet which could have resulted in property damage.

Car suddenly accelerated and would not stop upon applying the brakes.

I was almost at a dead stop when the car just surged foward once and before i could put the brake on, it surged foward again and sent me through a plate glass window at duncun donutswe hit a pole between the two windows very hard and the air bags didn't deploy.

The contact owns a 1999 subaru legacy.while driving 2 mph, the contact released the accelerator pedal.before the brake could be applied, the vehicle lunged forward and crashed into a building.the vehicle was towed to the insurance company.both the vehicle and building were damaged.a police report was filed.the cause of the failure had not been determined.the mileage was low on the vehicle because the odometer was replaced at 50,000 miles.the current and failure mileages were 16,000.

Service department unresponsive to my complaint. No safety defec tlisted.

There is hesitation when accelerating - tsb#115398 - tsb#115899.

Consumer states that his wife's speedometer stops working intermittenly.it starts and stops at will. Then just about a week prior to taking the auto to be repaired the speedometer stopped for good. He states this is a safety issue because they do not know how fast or slow they are traveling. Ts

The speedometer drops to zero intermittently.no known cause or pattern to problem.authorized dealer could not replicate or remedy.

97000 miles - automatic w cruise - vehicle just started experiencing intermittent high idle conditions. The first condition has persisted for several days. Vehicle (even when warm) idles at ~1.5k rpm in park.when coasting in drive, vehicle does not slow down as it normally should.it is almost as if vehicle is driving itself.when stopping abruptly, the abs did not seem to engage and the car was very difficult to stop (i past the toll booth guy by a foot).fuel economy has been reduced.the second condition is more intermittent and could be very serious.after starting my car and letting it warm for 2 minutes, i pressed the brake pedal and then shifted from park to drive.the rpms surged to over 2.5k and stayedthere.luckily, i was firmly pressing the brake.i placed the car in park and released the brake, the rpms decreased to 750.i was able to replicate this several times in both reverse and drive and could find nothing to suggest i was the cause (i.e pressing brake and accelerator at the same time).the brake was firmly depressed and i did not move.after 2 minutes of this, the condition stopped and the rpms no longer surged when placed in gear.i drove to a dealer, but was not able to replicate it.on my next drive (1 hour later) the car idled and ran fine for the course of my 10 minute drive.on returning home (1 hour after that), the car ran fine until i stopped in the driveway shifted from drive to park.the engine surged to over 2k rpm, but idled normally.i have an appointment for the dealer to investigate in a few days.i am very concerned for my safety and of others.

Windshield experiences a problem with a unknown coasting, causing poor visibility when defogger isused, especially at night. Dealer notified and informed that this is a common problem. Asking nhtsa to look into this matter or provide additional information.

While driving about 50 mphdrive stopped on brake pedal to prevent hitting a car that was turning left. While going around the vehiclein front, went to the right side of vehicleand through gravel, wheel fell off due to nuts: bolts shearing off,and vehicle went off the road.consumer contacted dealer .

I was test driving the car. I made a left turn on a gravel road. I expected the front wheels to pull me through the turn, but the rear wheels pushed me at a 300 angle into a guardrail off the road. The front wheels slid sideways. Once this happened it was too late to stop. The dealer accused me of negligence, though the salesman instructed me to drive on this road. I am now involved in a lawsuit. I don't know what i could have done.
