I've had subarus my whole life and am a loyal consumer. Recently i was involved in an accident. My car was hit in the front on the passenger side. I'm including a photo to show you the damage to my 2017 impreza. It was totaled and thankfully, i was not hurt. The airbags did not deploy. In light of the recent information that was released by the nhtsa concerning airbags not deploying, i feel i need to bring this to your attention. I will be sending the same information to the nhtsa. I realize in certain instances airbags do not deploy and perhaps this is one of those times. However i would feel irresponsible if i did not bring this to your attention. The claim was handled and the vin number is . [xxx]. (this email was sent to subaru).information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Dashboard airbag warning light is on when outside temperatures are hot. Happens alls surfaces/movement: stationary, moving, city street, highway. Passenger seat empty, driver in car only. Subaru dealer blamed it on my seat covers, after pushing for more research dealership says there is a known problem with airbag sensor but only techs who call into their tech help line are made aware. The part to fix the airbag issue/light is not currently available, and no specific date the part will be available to fix. Dealership states the issue is the sensors located on the interior roof of my car next to interior lights. States the sensor wires aren't coated well enough from heat, causing the light to come on/not properly registering if there is or is not a person in the passenger seat. Airbag is off if it doesn't register a passenger.happened three times in the past two weeks.

After having car serviced, airbag warning light would not go off. I was told it would need to be "reset", then i was told there was a 90% chance there was a part over the rearview mirror where the front dome lights are that needed to be replaced. They ordered the part and when they were about to install it they said it wasn't that part but a wiring problem that is located over the passenger door inside the ceiling panels that were "chewed" by a rodent. However there were no signs of the rodent and they have no idea how the "rodent" might have entered the ceiling panel because of the tight space. I asked for a photograph. The wires are bare and it actually looks like a low grade fire caused from wires being exposed. I was told it was not under warranty and that it would cost over $600 dollars to repair.i was also asked at the time if i had any small rodent related pets, i do not. I called subaru immediately because i wasn't buying the rodent story.the dealership has since called me back to tell me now they think a robotic arm might have accidentally damaged the wires in production but they are not sure. The car is not repaired as of yet, and i was told that the car is "safe" to drive. They also broke a part above the passenger visor when checking all this out because the space was so tight , yet a rodent got in and out and only destroyed those wires? they reassured me that they ordered the part they broke and will fix that when it comes in. However, because of the "wire problem" and me not approving the $600 "rodent" repair, my dome lights over my rearview mirrors will not work anymore, however they were working before they checked everything out. I am waiting for subaru to call me back.

The first problem i had, related to the airbag system, was when the temperature began to heat up in the summer.the was parked outside in the sun all day and when i was going to leave work, i turned on the car and it gave me an error code related to the airbag system, and the airbag error light turned on.i called the dealer (this was 2 months after buying he car - may 2017) they told me to bring it in.i took the car to the dealer, they were not able to find the problem, they asked me to leave the car a couple days.after 4 they call and they stated they were not able to reproduce the problem (the temperature had cooled down those day), so i took the car home.a month later in june when it started to get really hot, one day coming back from lunch the error pops up.without shutting the car down i took it to the dealer and they were able to read the error code - but they had no clue why it was coming up.computer did not show any issues.so i left the car there again, and after a week they call that the found the problem, a bad sensor in the airbag system - the bad news is that the part would take a couple weeks to arrive.they ended up having the car for about 23 days before they were able to fix it.after they replaced that sensor i have not seen the problem again.the second problem happened 2 days ago (september) - while running on the highway, 90 degree day, about 45 mph, i had the air conditioner on sunroof closed but the shade open.all of a sudden i hear this loud bang and shattered glass starts to fall on me and i see even more through the rear view mirror.the sunroof exploded outwards.there was nothing inside the car, and the glass shattered outwards.i took the car to the dealer, they stated they had never seen this but they were going to try to take care of it given this should not happen. They are still working on it.

Car will not move for several seconds after hitting the gas and air bag light comes on.coasting to a red light stop downhill, when i start to make left turn into traffic car does not respond to gas pedal for 2-4 seconds and when it starts moving it feels like its in a high gear bucking like a manuel transmission. It is a cvt . Last time this happened i rolled into the intersection almost to get hit by a truck, luckily it swerved to avoid me. I'm scared to drive this car. Enclosed is a picture of the air bag light on while i am driving, extremely unsafe vehicle

Vehicle was involved in a front end collision with another vehicle traveling perpendicular to each other. Speed of the subaru was between 10 and 20 mph at time of impact with full abs actuation on snow covered roads. The front of the subaru was pushed back far enough so that the radiator is now in contact with the engine. The driver was wearing his seat belt, but still made contact with the a-pillar with his head, causing minor injuries. There was no air bag deployment.

The contact owns a 2017 subaru impreza. The contact stated while seated in the passengerā€™s seat, the passengerā€™s side air bag occupant sensor failed to operate as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and she was informed that due to her stature, the passengerā€™s side occupant sensor would not recognize her while seated in the passengerā€™s seat. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

A crack appeared in the windshield on the driver's side of the car.the car was moving when the crack appeared but was stationary (driveway) when the crack expanded from the driver's side to the passenger side by the next day.

The contact owns a 2017 subaru impreza. While driving various speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle lost power. Also, the gears failed to shift without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the entire computer needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred several other times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three different times on three different occasions. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 80,000.

Radio controls "froze" before i even drove it off the dealer's lot.could not select af or fm. Satellite radio, however, worked.fix was either to disconnect the battery or remove and reinsert a fuze.dealer mechanic showed me how to use the fuze method. Car was stationary and had been running for 5-10 minutes. I did not test to see if other electrical functions were impacted as well.

Ignition locked.would not release.took 20 minutes. Finally the lock released. Have complained to subaru service, told it is all in my mind.

We purchased a new impreza on 2/4/17, within days of bringing the car home we noticed that all the radio presets had been wiped out, and the xm radio had reverted back to a trial period. That same day we received an email saying that our car was sending a problem code for the starlink system.upon calling the dealership we spoke with a service adviser who owns the same car and she told us that she has all kinds of problems with the car software. Including backup camera, screen freezing, losing radio presets, clock time changing.and she indicated that this was a know issue with the vehicle model and she had been dealing with it for 2 months.she told us that she had been told subaru had not idea how to fix it and maybe in may they might have it fixed.upon being transferred to the sales manager, he hold us that subaru had not put a stop sell order on the call so they kept selling them.we were never told about this defect prior to buying the car.recent calls with subaru have confirmed the problem, but nobody will call us back.we have put 3 miles on the car since we picked it up. We want to return the car to the dealership. We have been defrauded by subaru.this was a know defect!subaru customer service has confirmed that they have the issue.my starlink system which warns if in an accident, is sending out a problem code and it makes a loud noise when i try to connect.this is obviously related to the software issue.i am afraid to drive my car.we need your help in investigation this. Other unsuspecting buyers are getting duped every day.

Eyesight disables it's self, radio volume stopped working, rearview camera disables it's self, car locked its self with engine running for 1 hour with both keys in my pocket while standing outside waiting for a tow truck. I purchased the 2017 subaru impreza sport on memorial day 2017. Since my purchase the vehicle has been returned to the dealer three times to fix these issues. The last issue regarding the self locking happened on 07/13/17. Subaru service department has addressed the previous concerns by stating and upgrading software updates to my vehicle but it seems like everytime the software gets updated a another issue comes up.my vehicle has a open case with subaru tech and is now under review for buy back/replacement. This is my f first and last subaru purchase. The consumer should not be subaru's guinea pigs for their vehicles.

I was parking my car at apartment's parking lot by right turning. I was driving really slow about 5miles/hr.my foot was on the break pedal and as i press the break to slow my car further it got accelerated (with raving engine noise) and hit front parking fence as well as parked car right to me.i moved the automatic gear stick to parking position and able to stop the car. I talked with my car maker and they looked at it and prepared a report in 10 weeks. According to them weather mat might be the cause of this problem.but i do not think weather mat moved from its place during incident. I am really scared to drive this car again specially my car manufacturer doesn't seems to find the real cause of problem. I think my vehicle had an electrical malfunction that causes the vehicle to continue accelerating even my foot was on break.

Radio turns on automatically at startup.happens intermittently.volume is loud and cannot reduce volume while backing up. Volume control works when car moving forward. Attimes volume control does not work and have to mute the radio.most of the time i just keep the volume on zero and do not use the radio at all.

Battery drains too fast and keeps need a jump.

Subaru impreza 2017, 14.7k miles: i purchased my vehicle in jun 2017. In jan 2018 and aug 2018, seven and sixteen months after purchase, rodents chewed through the soy-based electrical wiring and wire harness, respectively.my subaru service dept. Advised me the impreza will always be predisposed to wire damage from rodents because they can gain access to garages and other types of car storage facilities, and, they love the taste of the soy wanting more after they experience the taste.subaru was well aware of the soy wiring problem as early as 2015 and was sued because of it in 2017.even so, subaru did not correct the problem, and in fact, obviously continues to manufacture vehicles containing soy-based products that are a proven attractant to rodents. In an attempt to completely prevent rodents from being able to access my car, and after many, many rodent abatement attempts, i was forced to buy a car bubble where i could literally seal the car inside and protect it. Subaru's negligence causes a built-in financial liability for many impreza owners. As of oct 2018, the repairs, rodent abatement and car bubble has cost $2,000+ dollars. Subaru used proven rodent attractants in impreza vehicle production causing 1) unnecessary repairs even for new car owners who rightfully do not have any expectation that the vehicle will require repairs because of soy induced rodents, 2) financial hardship from repairs that can be extensive and expensive, as well as the cost of primary and supplemental rodent abatement programs, 3) inconvenience having to deal with ongoing, similar types of repairs and related insurance claims, and, 4) the routine of the time and effort required to remove and replace a vehicle that has to be housed in a car bubble.despite my requests, the dealership refused to make any and all repairs under the manufacturer warranty.

Radio sound at high volume on start-up with control knob useless to turn down or turn off the sound. The head unit has been replaced. Problem is identical. Turning sound off at shutdown the day before makes no difference. Reversing in parking lots is perilous. There can be a few seconds of delay before the loud sound begins, while the car is rolling. Stabbing the off button is useless. Volume knob spins uselessly for about ten seconds before muting the sound. It happens pretty much every time i start the car.

Eyesight system keeps turning itself off. Rear camera has far more problems after federal rear camera recall. Camera often doesn't appear and leaves me with a blank screen. Eyesight system shuts off randomly and resets after a restart. Nothing else changes buy a restart, and problem is solved. Sound also ceases to come out of the radio, total silence, regardless of input and volume setting. All of the above is random. Car's battery runs down at times, as the screen stays on on the radio, even when turned off. Twice the car would not start. We now carry a battery jump box with us at all times. Problems happen when in motion or parked. Speed or time running not relative to issues. Car has been into three different dealers and has an appoint for a fourth right now. Car was delivered feb 9, and has been a total electrical disaster.

There are two separate issues with this vehicle which has not been resolved through dealers help and no recalls have been issued yet for these problems. First: the engine stalls around 16 to 11 mph. The acceleration slows down rapidly after 16-15mph then it ramps up at 13mph and then slows down around 11 mph speeds. This issue has been persistent since the ownership of the vehicle. Nhtsa needs to look into this problem since it can be a potential safety risk and can cause accidents. Second: the battery on this vehicle was dead suddenly over night without any visible clues. No map or dome lights were kept on. The vehicle was switched off properly and next morning the battery was dead. Somewhere in the vehicle (the suspect is infotainment system) the battery is draining. This has happened twice and had to change the batteries. These issues are huge safety hazards that needs to be address immediately.

The contact owned a 2017 subaru impreza. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked in the driveway and turned off, a fire ignited. The neighbor had discovered three vehicles in the driveway were on fire and called the fire department to the scene who extinguished the flames. During the incident, the three-vehicle were destroyed. A fire report was taken at the scene. Fire investigators determined that the fire started on the front passenger side of the subaru vehicle. No further information was available. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the incident. The failure mileage was 54,000.

Upon entering the vehicle which was parked in the garage and preparing to start i placed my foot on the brake pedal it proceeded to travel to the firewall with no resistance. I then pushed the start button and the instrumentation lit up. I could not proceed any further. I got out of the car shut the door. I pondered what to do next ie, call a tow truck, disconnect the battery and decided to re-enter the vehicle. Upon entering everything returned to normal. After this occurred i brought the vehicle to the dealership and was informed that they could find nothing wrong.in the past i have had problems with the display not functioning, the airbag warning light coming on. These problems disappeared after the the engine was shut off. These problems appear not to register in the system computer. I have notified subaru of america of these problems, especially the brake incident, which i consider a serious safety issue but they show very little concern.

3 different times,on different days, when making a turn after stopped at a light the car shut off completely and had to be restarted.no indication lights came on and my radio stayed playing.a very dangerous safety issue!!put 4 ways on and prayed i would not get hit.

Loss of power, hesitation, bucking ( jerky)with hints of stalling between 2000 and 3000 rpm in 2nd grear at appropriate speed and momentum . This is a 2017 manual impreza sport sedan .

Oil consumption . 1 quart low at 4,051 miles. Warning light indicator came on. Engine oil level low.at 6, 603 miles physically checked oil level and once again 1 quart low. Subaru facility performed oil consumption test and it failed. Small block has been ordered

My car stalled 3x yesterday, 1/21/2017 while driving. I was at a traffic light about to make a left turn when the car suddenly stalled

I had purchased a subaru impreza 2017 in june of 2017. Since leaving the parking lot with the car i've experienced all the info entertainment issues. I have a weird engine ticking noise. The vehicle will continue to accelerate. It has never gone out of control.however the 'forward' momentum/ inertia that's created by the engine doesn't disperse correctly thru the exhaust as it should.the vehicle is a 5 speed manual and if i don't shift down to neutral when stoping then i won't stop where i'm judging to. The car will feel as if it's sliding over the brakes. You also may have to power brake with the clutch as i do regularly. Since having all these issues.when ever i'd go to a dealer they would say some jargon about how if they have to turn a screw that's not a part of the part being fixed under warranty or a recallthen that would have to be paid for.i was told i can have my car serviced but they don't know what they will have to do. Pretty much taking me for a ride of 'fear mongering' and saying put your hand on this table and let's play the knife game...poke!i would be put in a very tough situation with no guarantee. The dealer did this so they wouldn't have to do work and not get paid. Because they loose money as a dealer for recall work.they are not subaru at all.all in all now i'm told to have my car taken to service for all the numerous recalls/lawsuits attached to my car. Even tho now i'm past my warranty (120,000). And there saying the same bs as they will charge for everything not associated to the effected parts.allnecessary means to address the effected parts should be associated with the recall. I have been scamed.the whole time every issue was either under warranty or recall and they never honor it. If they do. They will fix whatever has a scratch and charge you saying it was required. It's all a game. They are con artists!!!

I was about to make a left turn at the light when car suddenly stalled. Brought it to liberty subaru dealership the next day and tech release it as safe to drive after they claimed to fix the main relay. A minute after i left the dealership car stalled again near the train tracks. The 2017 subaru impreza is hazardous, unsafe, and life threatening. This time liberty subaru said they have to rewire the engine. I am not comfortable driving this car with my children. It is not safe for me, my family, and other drivers.

The contact owns a 2017 subaru impreza. When the contact attempted to accelerate, the vehicle lost power. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to her residence. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was later taken to heritage subaru owings mills (9808 reisterstown rd, owings mills, md 21117, (888) 553-0026) where the technician replaced the battery; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not taken back to the dealer and was not repaired. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v743000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was not made of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,500.

The contact owns a 2017 subaru impreza.the vehicle was serviced at metro west subaru (948 worcester st, natick, ma 01760, (508) 651-2000) per nhtsa campaign number: 17v216000 (fuel system gasoline); however, the remedy failed to repair the vehicle.the failure mileage was 1,304. .

The low-oil light has illuminated twice within the first 11,400 miles. Subaru of america has told that this oil consumption is normal. However, we find it excessive and potentially dangerous. We never would have purchased the car if we had known about its oil consumption. Subaru should place a window sticker warning drivers to carry extra oil to prevent getting stranded with a blown engine.

The rpm is dropping to 6,000 to 5,800. Every time i apply the break all the way. Felt the vibration of the car every time the car is stop. Took it to the 2 different dealer still don't know what to do with it. I also call the subaru main office they said there is nothing they can do. They even send me a gift for no reason after i yell at them over the phones.

The contact owns a 2017 subaru impreza. While the contact was coasting the vehicle forward in the driveway, it independently surged forward without warning and crashed into the garage door. The contact stated that the failure occurred twice before and that the eyesight automatic braking feature failed to activate during each occurrence. The air bags did not deploy upon impact and there were no injuries. A police report was not filed. The dealer (beyer subaru, 7416 richmond hwy, alexandria, va 22306, 703-768-5800) was notified of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle to an independent body shop first and then bring it to them for diagnostic testing. The contact emailed the manufacturer regarding the failure. The vehicle remained on the contact's property and had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

The contact owns a 2017 subaru impreza. When starting the vehicle, it idled strangely. There were no warning indicators illuminated during the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (ocean subaru of fullerton, 1100 euclid st, fullerton, ca 92832), but the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v216000 (fuel system, gasoline) and the failure started after the recall was remedied. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The failure mileage was 11,000.

I purchased a 2017 subaru impreza limited on 7.30.17 from bob barker subaru in carlsbad, ca. The car, until yesterday, had approximately 500 miles on the odometer.on 8.9.17 at 1830 my son was driving the car and his friend was in the passenger seat. The car was struck on the left front side by a ford fusion entering the intersection after the signal had changed. The airbags deployed. What happened next is unbelieveable!! my son reports that the smell of smoke caused him to awaken and scramble, with his friend, from the passenger side door and reach safety before the car was completely engulfed in flames. I do not understand how a frontal collision on a side street can cause a car to burst into an inferno. Please investigate this car's dangerous behavior in a rather ordinary collision. This incident did not result in loss of life or significant morbidity, but future drivers may not be so lucky. I would be happy to direct you to the towing company that has the car so you can investigate.

The windshield has a crack out of nowhere. This happened in my garage where the vehicle is parked most of the time.

I received a notice from subaru described as a service program wur-03. Therefore it is not a recall like the ecm and pcv valve issues. I was unable to make an appointment since i received the notice so close to the holiday. Unfortunately i was involved in a traffic accident before i was able to get the vehicle in for the service. The service is explained as an issue with the brake hoses where fluid seeps between the layers of the hoses. So, subaru wants to replace all 4 of the brake hoses at no charge. I am an auto tech so i know that any internal breakdown of a brake hose interferes with the ability of the brake system performing properly. What happened during the accident in question is that the vehicle failed to stop in time causing my vehicle to strike the vehicle in front of me. There was sufficient space for the vehicle stop without striking the other vehicle. But when i pressed the brakes i heard a noise, almost like the abs pump over-pressurizing, the brake pedal vibrated and pushed back against my foot slightly as my vehicle slid into the back of the car in front of me. At the time of the accident the roads were dry and it was sunny about 50 degrees. In other words, absolutely no reason for my vehicle to slide.

Started the car it was on park, the car acceleratedto 5rpm in a matter of seconds engine sounded like an airplane, i shut the car and repeated the same procedure 3 times. Called the dealer and had it towed there. The first time i complained was and took it to the dealer it was accelerating on high but they reprogammed it. Was stationary on city street

My windshield chipped and then cracked all the way across from a light hit from a pebble, the proper replacement is $400 before labor, thats without subaru eyesight calibration.

With steering wheel held straight or turning, in town or highway speeds, wheels will pull left or right as road surface varies causing car to move in lane, putting pressure on the steering wheel to be corrected.it is as if the car wants to steer itself.this is an ongoing issue since leasing the vehicle.

2017 subaru impreza. Consumer writes in regards to dealers putting aftrmarket parts on vehicle during repair and removing orignal subaru parts. *ld

The vehicle started to get rust in the trunk around where the rain water slides down the vehicle. I took the vehicle to the subaru dealership where i purchased it and tried to claim the manufacturer's 3 year anti corrosion warranty to repair the damage but the subaru dealership claimed that subaru of america determined that the rust was caused by "outside influences" and refused to cover it with the 3 year anti corrosion warranty.

Car only year old. Rust on suspension components rear of car. See attached photos.

On march 22, 2018, my 2017 subaru impreza sport wagon, with approximately 10,000 miles experienced a catastrophic failure of the rear suspension components traveling at 8 miles per hour. I was proceeding through a green light ' making a right. 3/4 of the way thru the turn i felt a violent jarring of my car on the left side and the driver's side curtain airbag slammed the left side of my upper body neck and head. I saw that my direction of travel did not changei started to pull off to the side of the road and apply the brakes. Had no brakes. A woman pulled over and she said " no one hit you, your wheel just fell off." police came and helped me out of my car and completed an accident report. We noticed 1/2 of my wheel was in the intersection and a police officer recovered it for me. Mitchell subaru inspected the vehicle submitted a claim with subaru of america (soa) stating catastrophic failure of the rear suspension components. Soa then conducted their own investigation of the incident. The soa representatives wrongly concluded that i was involved in a 'high speed, rear collision with another vehicle'. They did not examine or remove any suspension components for further testing.soa conclusions are completely inaccurate. The police officer is adamant that there was no other vehicle involved. Eyewitness on the scene stated that she watched the event unfold and that my wheel 'fell off'. The adjuster from my insurance company concluded that a 'massive failure of the right rear wheel / suspension caused the accident', 'no other vehicle was involved'. A factory trained subaru technician with 20 years of experience stated that there was no damage that pointed to a collision and that the scuff marks noted by soa where caused by the rear tire slamming into thepanel.soa denies all responsibility for this devastating failure of their product.

I purchased a used 2017 subaru impreza in april of 2020.the windshield has been broken twice since then.the online photos showed it with an intact windshield.when it was brought to my home for a test drive it had multiple cracks on the windshield and the dealer stated that they had to replace it when we purchased it as they were in the line of site for the driver and a safety hazard.after a few weeks of not driving the car other than to get groceries during covid the new windshield that the dealer had just replace cracked.there is no stone pit, it simply cracked on its own.this crack runs from the upper passenger corner for approximately 18' toward the middle and bottom of the windshield.it appears to either be stress or thermal related.two windshield cracks that don't appear to be from a rock in a months time seem like a possible defect to me.the crack i noticed grow without recalling a specific incident that started it.the dealer is now trying to offer a 5 year crystal fusion treatment and warranty for $995.some online searching on this makes that seem like a scam at best.the disclaimer on the form states that they won't replace the windshield if breakage is part of a factory defect, which it is looking like they could state.i want to replace my windshield that is cracked, but would like some reassurance that it won't break nearly immediately again and would like subaru or the dealer to stand behind these vehicles as this appears to be a widespread and systematic issue.

Please see the attachment for the whole story. Thanks.

My windshield cracked in one corner for no reason. I'm worried about the stability of the entire windshield. The car was parked in a locked garage when this occurred.

My car stalled 3x yesterday, 1/21/2017 while driving. I was at a traffic light about to make a left turn when the car suddenly stalled

The wiper cowl cover separates from the windshield resulting in a gap between the cowl cover and the windshield. This gap allows an abnormal amount of water to flow inside, especially during heavy rainfall, snow, or carwash.

I did a test drive of the subaru impreza 2017 premium wagon at a seattle-area dealership. I noticed that the car door did not lock completely or opened by itself while the car was in motion. I noticed that i am not the only one who sees this safety issue. There are others who have reported the same or similar problem on subaru owners forum. Here are two links to review to see this issue being discussed: http://www.impreza5.com/forum/9-2017-impreza-general-discussion-forum/3281-impreza-door-closing-only-when-slammed.htmlhttp://www.impreza5.com/forum/138-5th-gen-impreza-issues-problems/2586-passenger-front-door-opens-itself.htmli think this is a safety problem, because in my case the door was ajar or opened while i was on a freeway. This needs to be investigated and problem fixed beforethe problem manifests in either the driver, passenger or property being damaged.

Windshield spontaneously cracked for no reason

I purchased this car in january 2021 from the mechanicsburg faulkner dealership in pa. It was previously owned by one person. I am the second owner. On may 5, 2021, as i was getting into my car to drive to work, i noticed a crack on the right side of my windshield. Upon closer inspection, the crack appeared to have started from the very edge of the lower part of the windshield. Nothing fell on my car as it is kept secured in our garage.

This is in regards to the subaru windshield lawsuit.sometime in late may of 2020, i found my parked car on the street outside my apartment with a crack that spanned over 12"on the front windshield.there was no sign of what caused the crack.over the next few weeks the crack continued to grow across the windshield.i had it replaced july 7, 2020, at that time of it was over 24" long.i was told by my local window repair shop that subaru had to be the ones to replace the windshield because they would be the ones that needed to recalibrate the computer system that connected to the windshield.

Windshield cowl buckles with wide gap. Dealer replaced the cowl and adjusted clips a handful of times and it still happens and that they see a lot of imprezas that are "just like that". This is going to cause all kinds of water damage to the vehicle, severely reducing the vehicle's life and valud. It is also a safety hazard as the windshield is not fully sealed. This needs to be recalled and remedied by subaru.

My windshield has a small crack and i am not sure when it happened.

The driver's side mirror does not adjust far enough out to completely eliminate blind spots.all other vehicles that i've driven allow the side-view mirror to adjust outwards far enough that the blindspot is completely eliminated.the impreza mirror adjusts out to a certain extent and then "bounces" because it has reached it's limit.this limit is not sufficient to eliminate the blindspot.

Driving, heard loud pop/noise, 10 minutes later had a 12+ inch crack in windshield

Windshield has mysteriously cracked numerous times

The windshield has a crack out of nowhere. This happened in my garage where the vehicle is parked most of the time.

Driving on a four-lane freeway with no other vehicles around me, the passenger's door side mirror "exploded".there was a large bang that sounded like a blown tire, which is what i thought it was at first. Then i looked to my right and saw my passenger's side door mirror hanging in pieces by its electrical wiring, and the plastic, outside mirror casing completely destroyed.i pulled to the side of the road to get a better look, and the debris scrapped-up my passenger window pretty badly, too.lots of "etching" in the passenger window. I was driving approximately 45 mph through a curve on a four-lane road.there were no cars in front of me or behind me, and nothing for me to hit or sideswipe.the side door mirror simply "exploded". Had there been a passenger sitting in the front passenger's seat with the window rolled-down, i am certain they would have been killed, or seriously injured, from the flying glass and plastic casing from the passenger's side door mirror and its casing.a search on the internet today showed me that this is more of a reoccurring problem than perhaps previously thought. Very dangerous, and scary.i'm taking the 2017 subaru impreza 5 door back to the dealership this afternoon, hoping they will repair/replace it under warranty as i am the original owner and the vehicle has less than 12,000 miles on it.(car was purchased new in october 2017)

Windshield cracked when i drove over a bump in the road at ~15mph.

A small object hit the side of my windshield while i was driving home and latercaused a 6-inch crack to form. The crack expanded to 10+ inches overnight while my car was parked in my garage. I now have to have my windshield replaced and safety system will need to be re-calibrated at an additional cost.

Windshield cracked after taking small road debris to windshield while driving approx 55 mph on a highway. Immediately after debris hit windshield began to splinter and crack which worsened into a 8-10" long damage making the windshield ineligible for repair. Windshield required replacement

Thewindshield cracked for no apparent reason. It was replaced at safelite auto glass. The receipt is attached.

A crack appeared in the windshield on the driver's side of the car.the car was moving when the crack appeared but was stationary (driveway) when the crack expanded from the driver's side to the passenger side by the next day.

Driving down a one lane road going 30 mph when the windshield cracked for no apparent reason. Nothing hitting the windshield.

I have had to replace my windshield twice within 12 months due to chipping and cracking.the first chip caused a 12+ inch crack which prompted replacement ($1000.00) 5 months after the original replacement salt on the expressway chipped the 2nd windshield.each time something comes in contact with the windshield, it seems to chip. I have approximately 4 chips in my newest windshield.i don't think the windshield should have chipped so easily

My windshield cracked in one corner for no reason. I'm worried about the stability of the entire windshield. The car was parked in a locked garage when this occurred.

I believe my car experienced a spontaneous explosion of the sun roof glass: while driving on a straight section of highway i heard and felt a sudden, loud, explosive sound that i thought was from something hitting the roof of my car. At the time i was driving it cloudy but no precipitation, approx. 36 degrees, dry road conditions with minimal traffic, approx. 3:30pm. I was in the right lane, no construction or objects noted in the road in the area and not near an overhead roadway or elevated side of road. I exited the highway at the nearest exit and pulled into a parking lot to inspect my car, at which time i found a large section (approx. 10" x 4-5") of sun roof glass was missing and the surrounding glass was broken and protruding outward (see attached photo). This was mysterious as i had assumed that something had struck the top of my car and, thus, expected to see the glass pushed downward from the impact. No object (rock or other projectile) was found resting on the sun shade, which fortunately was closed at the time of the incident. I called my subaru dealership where i purchased my car in june 2017 new (all equipment original) and described the problem to the service manager. He immediately offered, "at no cost" to me, a loaner car and asked me to bring in my car, which i did the next morning. The manager and a tech staff person looked over my car and assessed that i would need only to replace the glass as the frame was intact. I was also told that subaru would cover the cost of this replacement, which they did. I believe this was a spontaneous explosion based on the research i found on the internet particularly a consumer report article.

Windshield cracks light debris while driving on highway.starts from the bottom of the windshield and while driving, the crack just keeps growing from 3 inches until about 8-9 inches, and it's still going.the sound of the debris wasn't that loud, never had this type of issue with other cars with even louder hits.

3 cracked windshieds in less than 2 years spontaneously cracked windshields twice while parked

I have noticed that it is simply not possible to adjust the driver-side rearview mirror outward enough to be able to properly see vehicles which could be in my side blind spots, and this feels incredibly unsafe. I'm happy that the car has blind spot detectors on the mirrors, but that is no substitute for visibility. In addition, i don't believe the lower trim levels have blind-spot detectors. I am 6'3', which is on the taller side, but still, i am not the only one experiencing this problem and i have never had this problem in any other vehicle i've driven. Other owners are also unable to adjust their side mirrors to the sae and aaa recommended positions. L can't believe that the vehicle was allowed to be designed and produced with these mirrors! this is a terrible flaw in the design, and in my opinion, should be re-designed, fixed for the 2017 year, and a safety recall should be performed for already-produced vehicles.

My windshield chipped and then cracked all the way across from a light hit from a pebble, the proper replacement is $400 before labor, thats without subaru eyesight calibration.

I drive approx. 145 miles a day for work; normal highway driving.i bought my car 2.5 years ago and have just over 96,000 miles on it.in this time span i've had to replace two wheel bearings; 40,000 miles and 96,000 miles.this seems to me to be a high rate of wear on a fairly critical part.
