Passenger side air bag consistently turns off when there is a passenger in the front seat. This has happened at both high and low speeds - have noticed it happens all the time when the passenger has damp clothing on. The "passenger airbag off" light will illuminate on the dashboard, and will remain off until the car is turned off and back on. Additional research has led me to believe this has to do with the type of passenger detection associated with the airbag.

The contact owns a 2015 subaru impreza. While driving, the passenger presence sensor malfunctioned constantly. The passenger air bag off light illuminated while a passenger was present. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 19,000.

Takata recall, air bags did not deploy on a impact of 50 miles a hour.

The passenger air bag sensor fails to properly identify a human in the passenger seat. More than half the time someone is sitting in the front passenger seat, the passenger air bag is not activated. This happens both when the vehicle is in motion, stationary, and on in street types or street conditions. The air bag also frequently activates when no one is sitting in the seat. The passenger air bag sensor is dangerously badly designed. It uses a capacitance sensor to determine if an object with a similar capacitance to a human is in the seat. However, the capacitance of a human changes dramatically depending on the composition of that person's body, the clothes that person is wearing, if they are holding an electronic device, or touching some part of the vehicle that would ground them. The traditional weight sensors used in almost all other vehicles are a time-tested and robust design.

The vehicle was park at my home. Upon starting the vehicle the airbag light illuminated. Subaru of america was contacted and an appointment was set up with the local subaru dealership. The vehicle was dropped off that evening and was looked at the next day.after inspecting the vehicle i was notified that the passenger seat occupancy sensor had an issue and the passenger seat would need to be replaced. They claimed this was due to the seat being wet. The vehicle was purchased used in 2018 with 35,278 miles and now has around 46,000 miles. The seat has never been wet in my time owning it and was not wet prior to owning it to my knowledge. The vehicle is equipped with heated seats and i believe this issue is in line with last years forester passenger airbag sensor recall in which 366,000 vehicles where recalled for a very similar issue. I have not yet heard back from the dealership, but they are not currently aware if subaru of america is willing to cover cost to resolve this issue. Since they are unsure when subaru would get back to them, i picked up the vehicle and it is currently parked at my home. I was informed to avoid safety risks to not have occupants travel in the passenger seat for the time being as the passenger airbag could turn off at any point. Since picking up the vehicle, the airbag light does illuminate upon start, but no longer stays on.if a follow up contact is required i would prefer an email over a call.

I had the brake light switch (recall) replaced a month ago. Now the key won't come out of the ignition as it should when the vehicle is placed in park. I have to put the shifter in drive and pull forward, then reverse again to try and see if it will come out. It may take several attempts before it works properly. I had no problems of this nature before and it was working fine until just this week. I have 70,800 miles on the vehicle and am greatly disappointed it already needs to go back to the dealership to be serviced.

Front overhead interior light would not turn off. It was at night, i was visiting, i calledsubaru for help. Response ; call back tomorrow. I pried the plastic cover off and took out the bulb. Dealership response was ' leave it on, the nextmorning when the battery is dead, call our road side service and wewill charge your battery.

When car is shifted into park and turned off, i cannot remove the key from the ignition.this happens intermittently. I never know when it will happen. It happens about 30 -40 percent of the time lately.

The contact owns a 2015 subaru impreza. The contact stated while driving at an unknown speed, she noticed that the air conditioner was intermittently blowing warm air into the cabin of the vehicle. The contact stated that no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the dealer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

Car won't turn over ignition.all brake lights stopped working. It impacted braking, vdc system, abs system and cruise control didn't work. Occurred after 2 hour trip with no concerns and functioning systems.only noticed when tried to restart the car.

Every time i put my car in park, i am unable to remove the key from the ignition. Eventually if i keep shifting out of and back into park it will let me remove the key. It appears to be related to a subary service bulletin #: 16-112-18r

The last several weeks (at around 16k miles) the majority of the time when i would try to park, i'd place my car in park, have my foot on the brake, but i could not turn the key from the acc position to the lock position and also could not remove the key. I'd have to cycle the car on, reverse a few feet, go forward to my parking spot, put in park and try to turn off. I often had to do it 5+ times to be able to remove the key. On this site i found some information from subaru claiming that some cars have a problem with contaminants getting to the "plate guide b." once i saw the illustrations i realized that a component of plate guide b is a little switch. The button on the gear shift knob has a plunger that drops when the button is released; when it functions properly that plunger should come to rest on the switch in plate guide b and deactivate the lock in the ignition. It seems that over time there was a loss of spring tension either in the gear shift knob or in the little switch so the plunger was not activating the switch. After learning all this i was able to do the repair without replacing any components, and now that i know what i'm doing, it can be done in about 10 minutes and requires only a flat head screwdriver, a philip's screwdriver, a pair of needle nose pliers and a flashlight. I just had to remove the center console (two screws in the back seat one on each side and one under the hand brake boot, disassemble the gear shifter cover. (all plastic clips easily undone with a flat head screwdriver),knob, and dust cover to expose the switch and then bend the exposed end of the switch slightly upward so the shifter knob's plunger will activate it again. The switch looks like a small flat piece of metal. I just held it firmly in place with a flat screw driver then pulled up (gently) on the end of it with needle nose pliers to bend it slightly upward.

The key gets stuck in the ignition because the shift guide plate assembly is faulty. It doesn't not recognize the car is in park and other ranges do to the plate being bad. When shifting from reverse to drive the car doesn't always switch into gear because the plate doesn't recognize that you have changed gears and leaves you going in reverse when you have the gear selector in the drive position and vice versa. This problem has been going on for a fewmonths now but has become more frequent.

The contact owns a 2015 subaru impreza. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start while depressing the brake pedal and pushing the start button. The brake pedal traveled to the floorboard numerous times before the vehicle was able to start. Also, while driving, the check engine and other unknown warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to bill kolb jr. Subaru (located at 252 ny-303, orangeburg, ny 10962, (845) 359-7777) where it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced.the vehicle was not repaired. The contact replaced the battery, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not taken back to the dealer and was not repaired. On another occasion, while the vehicle was parked, it rolled backwards independently. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.

When turning off car and in park ignition switch gets stuck at acc and will not go to lock position. You cannot remove the key. You have to continually try to turn key on and off and jiggle the shifter. This is an automatic cvt engine as well. Car has only 31,000 miles/2015 model year.

The contact owns a 2015 subaru impreza. The contact stated that upon placing the vehicle in park, the key intermittently remained stuck inside the ignition. The contact stated that the vehicle was restarted and excessive effort was needed to remove the key from the ignition. The contact called subaru santa monica (1229 santa monica blvd, santa monica, ca 90404) and was informed her that there was a cost for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

2015 subaru impreza. Consumer is unable to remove key from ignition. *ld

The contact owns a 2015 subaru impreza. The contact stated that after shifting into park, the contact was unable to remove the key from the ignition switch. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer grand prix subaru located at 500 s broadway, hicksville, ny 11801, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the ignition switch was defective and needed to be replaced. The ignition switch was replaced however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 27,000.

I have a 2015 subaru impreza with 31,000 miles (out of warrantydue to age). Thecar has developed a small oil leak from the cam carrier cover (aka valve cover) onto the exhaust manifold and the o2 sensor causing a lot of smoke that then enters the cabin. Subaru's estimate $4973.87. Reading subaru forums i've come to discover that this is a pretty common problem in vehicles dating between 2012 and 2017. Due to the smoke it creates in the cabin, and the health risks there in, and the short life of the part in question, i'd recommend a recall be issued.

Vehicle stationary, engine at idle, awaiting left hand turn. Turn steering wheel left, attempt to accererate, engine temporarily stalls.this vehicle has been recalled for other defective relays.is this a defective fuel pump relay?

Soon after delivery, there was a noticeable lag ( 2-20 seconds) between the time the accelerator was depressed and when the vehicle accelerated. At times this lead to dangerous situations. Dealer said there was no problem. The accelerator module was replaced ( not at dealer) and there were no problems for a time, now the same lag has begun to occur at random times, especially after slowing to less than 20 miles per hour.note:-- this is a problem for one of two drivers of the car.apparently the position of the driver's foot on the accelerator makes the difference.never has this driver had a similar problem in more than 50 years of driving all types of vehicles( this is an ongoing problem, not a single or isolated event.)

Car will have a slow or non responsive start from a stop.. There will be a couple second lag from the time i press on the accelerator.

Intermittent failure of the cvt select shift mechanism that causes the key to get locked in the ignition switch when the car is in park.this problem is a result of the failure of plate guide-b, part number 35122fj033.this ongoing problem is subject to subaru service bulletin 16-112-18r dated 03/15/2018 and revised as of 02/20/2019.this subaru identified safety issue affects multiple models.cost of part replacement is not offset by subaru with 100% of the cost required by the vehicle owner.

A bad oil valve in the engine tripped the check engine light upon starting the car. The bad valve was possibly letting sludge get into the engine. At only 60k andwith doing religious oil changes on time, this appears to be a defective part for which a service bulletin but not a recall has been issued.

Vehicle was involved in an accident with ice from a semi-trailer on 1/27/2015. The vehicle went through the insurance process, was in the collision repair shop for 23 days, and was returned to me with a headlight assembly that was epoxied together.it is now approaching 90 days since the initial accident.subaru of america, the dealer that sold the vehicle to me, and the collision repair center which is another local subaru dealer all indicate that replacement headlight assemblies for the 2015 subaru impreza are not available.i need to find out the potential safety deficiencies for this 2015 subaru impreza with a damaged headlight that has been epoxied back together and re-installed in my vehicle that had 700 miles at the time of the incident on 1/27/2015, and now has 5900 miles due to my . 100 mile roundtrip daily commute for work.

Car will have a slow or non responsive start from a stop.. There will be a couple second lag from the time i press on the accelerator.

The car will stop running abruptly after running for several hours and getting low on fuel. No check engine lights or other lights come on. No gas light comes on. I have taken it to 2 dealerships who cannot replicate the problem. The electrical components all stay on, but the motor will not run. The vehicle will start again when fuel is added to the tank, or when it is allowed to cool. I am 100% sure that the fuel pimp is overheating, but neither the dealer nor subaru will replace it, though it is under warranty. It happens at highway speeds when the tank is below 1/4 after driving for around 2-3 hours or more.

The contact owns a 2015 subaru impreza. While driving at an unknown speed, the front hood flew up without warning. The hood was pushed back down and the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined that the hood might not be closed properly. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 13,800.

When i stop my car and put it into park, i cannot turn the key all the way to the lock position, and therefore cannot remove the key from the ignition. The car is not believing that it is actually in park.i have to restart the car, drive a little bit, and try again. This is happening with increasing frequency and is both a safety and security issue if the key cannot be removed. I do not know the first date it happened.

While driving about 60 miles an hour, in the second from the left lane on a busy, four-lane freeway ascending a slight hill, my car shuddered violently and came to a complete stop.we were almost rear-ended several times; cars were swerving around us; it was terrifying and quite dangerous.we waited close to 10 minutes for the chp to stop traffic.subaru has identified the problem as the cvt transmission and is in the process of replacing it under the warranty.this is a safety issue and i think a recall is more appropriate than an extended warranty.

The contact owns a 2015 subaru impreza. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 mph, an unknown warning light illuminated indicating that the vehicle was not in sixth gear. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was shifted into neutral. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, after two weeks the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer where the diagnosed the clutch and the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 7,600.

While driving downhill on the interstate, the accelerator suddenly was unresponsive, almost as if the car were in neutral. Once pulling over and restarting the car it drove normally. Took the car in for service and the dealer could not replicate the issue and there were no error codes.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'*pm

The contact owns a 2015 subaru impreza. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, an abnormal grinding sound was present coming from the driver's side front wheel well. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer faulkner subaru bethlehem located at 330 stoke park rd, bethlehem, pa 18017, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the wheel bearing was and transmission were defective and needed to be replaced. The wheel bearing was repaired however, the failure persisted. The transmission was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 129,000.

The contact owns a 2015 subaru impreza. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to autobarn subaru of countryside in countryside, illinois. The dealer diagnosed that the transmission's wiring harness may have been affected, but the cause of the failure could not be fully determined. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 30,520. The vin was not available.

Key will not come out of the ignition when i go to turn the car off. This is a regular occurrence, requiring me to turn the car back on, shift to drive and then back to park before trying to turn the car off again. This happens at least once a day.

Subaru eyesight will lock up brakes when actively being engaged and the car in front of you makes 90 degree right turn as ifthe car was still in front of you and you were about to crash into it. But it isn't there instead you will be crashed into from the rear. It will do this every time guaranteed. Just set following distance to 1.1 sec get behind a car doing over 25 mph and enjoy. Dealership insists that how it suppose to work. If this was subaru's intend in any way it needs to be corrected. Hitting gas pedal won't help it will only rev up the engine but car keeps braking.

The recall status of my 2015 subaru impreza is not complete. The remedy is not available yet. Can subaru please findremedy? the recall number is wue-90

Car won't turn over ignition.all brake lights stopped working. It impacted braking, vdc system, abs system and cruise control didn't work. Occurred after 2 hour trip with no concerns and functioning systems.only noticed when tried to restart the car.

I was driving as i normally do and parked my car. When i go to start it again the power steering light on my dash board lights up and i can't move my steering wheel at all. Since i was unable to drive my car i had to get it towed to my mechanic where i was told that the steering shaft and motor where bad. In doing some research i found out that subaru had this issues in since 2013 models.

After turning the steering significantly to the right (full lock is not necessary), the car then *often* pulls significantly to the left. The same thing *sometimes* happens after a left turn. And, the 'floaty' steering is a loss of on-center feel and the steering generally feels like i'm driving a 1970s era big-old-buick... Absolutely no road feel or feedback.my mechanic diagnosed this problem as a defective steering rack -- a $2000 repair.they also said that this was the second time they had seen this problem in a 2015 subaru impreza within a month!indicating that this is a larger, systemic problem with the design or production of the 2015 impreza!the dealer has confirmed that the steering rack is defective and discounted the repair by $1500.this is an excellent good-will gesture, and i accepted it.however, i remain concerned about the safety of other impreza's.in particular, most drivers may not notice the problem and it may result in them drifting from their lane or otherwise losing control of their vehicle.

The contact owns a 2015 subaru impreza. While driving various speeds, the steering wheel seized and the power steering warning indicator illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic, but the cause of the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was later taken to autobahn subaru of countryside (6191 joliet rd, countryside, il 60525, (708) 497-3999) where it was diagnosed that the abs and bdc control modules failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000. The vin was not available.

2015 subaru impreza. Key gets stuck in ignition following turning the car off, juggling the key does not dislodge it from the ignition. Requires the car to be turned on again, moved, wheel direction changed, and turned off again. Very frequent issue (every other time driving). Sometimes key will not dislodge and requires multiple efforts. This appears to be a common issue for the vehicle based on internet searches and should be corrected by the manufacturer. Local dealership mentioned to keep turning the car on and off until it no longer works, then repair will cost 500+ dollars.

2015 subaru impreza key stuck in the steering key housing. Vehicle was in p position and safety parking brake was lift. Unable to remove the key. It is happened everytime i park the car.

Sunday morning, june 21, 2015.rained overnight and was still raining moderately hard when we left for our first overnight trip in our new (1300 miles) 2015 impreza.about 1/4 mile from our home, on a paved, well traveled street, traveling slightly under the posted 30 mph speed limit, we ran thru some standing water on the road.it might have been a couple of inches deep.after the initial whoosh, there was a continuing roar, as if water was splashing up on the car underside.although the road was wet there was no reason to believe this was happening.after about 300 yards ofthis noise we made a left turn into a side street.the noise immediately stopped and we circled around and proceeded on our trip.after about 50 miles of interstate 65 mph travel, we began to notice thumping noises like we were riding on an old concrete road with tarred joints (we were not).we pulled into the break down lane and i got out and looked under car and under the hood.noise sounded like it was coming from front drivers side at that point.finding no issues, we continued another 80 miles to our destination on wet and dry roads.upon arriving, made a side trip of 20 more miles of interstate driving.we heard what sounded like roaring noises from time to time and which reduced when we slowed to around 50 mph.next day, on the return trip home we heard more roaring noises, which got substantially worse after a few miles. It was warm and dry at that time.finally, it got to making loud popping and slapping noises.this time it was clearly coming from the drivers side more to the rear.we slowed to 50 mph and took the first exit with services, i pulled into a parking lot, laid on the hot tarmac and looked underneath the car.i found a flimsy plastic shield had split lengthwise about 3 feet and was beat up from road contact on the front end.

The contact owns a 2015 subaru impreza. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the tire pressure monitoring system sensor light illuminated. Upon inspection, it was determined that the tire air pressure was low on multiple tires. The vehicle was taken to young subaru located at 3920 riverdale rd, ogden, ut 84405, who diagnosed that the valve stems were faulty. The valve stems were replaced however, the failure recurred. The contacted indicated that over the years, the failure occurred on all four wheels. The tires were replaced multiple times however, the failure persisted. It was also determined that the failure was not caused by faulty tires. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,000.

Unable to remove key from ignition. Steering wheel is not locked. Have to turn the key several times and move shifter from p to n and back. It usually takes 3-6 times of doing this before i can remove the key from ignition. This has been going on for a week.

About 50% of time when i attempt to shut down the ignition and remove the key the key won't turn all the way to "off".i can't remove the key an must turn it back to the"run"position and try to get the key to turn to the "off" position.the vehicle is in the stationary position with the transmission lever in "park".i follow the operator's manual instruction to push in the key when turning it to "off"; i've also tried not pushing the key in when trying to turn it to the "off" position to no avail.my subaru dealer service manager said that this problem is not known to him. Cause unknown.

The key gets stuck in the ignition when the car is parked and i try to attempt to take the key out. This happens at least 4 times a week when i drive, doesn't matter how long i've driven for or anything. I put the car in park and the key doesn't come out, it usually takes 3-5 tries of turning the car back on, shifting from park to drive and back to park for me to be able to take the key out.each time i try, i make sure that the button on the gear shift knob not still pressed down and that the knob is shifted all the way into park.

Often times the key gets stuck in the ignition and you have to wiggle the shifter a few times to release it.

A crack appeared in the middle of my windshield, coming up from the bottom, after no impact, while parked at a gas pump. When parked in the sun the next day the crack grew from a linear 8 inches to a linear 18 curved from a vertical crack to a horizontal crack after the first 9 inches. Subaru apparently has windshields on back-order so the car in unable to be driven without reduced visibility for an extended amount of time until they can get a subaru windshield to replace my mysteriously cracked one, without voiding the warranty.

After parking vehicle, and putting gear into park. I am unable to turnoff engine and remove key... To remedy this problem and fully turn of engine and remove key requires me to turn on engine and sometime reverse vehicle and 're enter parking stall, or turn wheel to the right or left several times.

After parking and turning the engine the key gets stuck and won't come out. This creates a nightmare when you are outside as you can not just leave the key in the car in a parking lot. It takes fiddling with the gears and trying multiple times to get the key out. It has been happening for some time but now it a lot more regular.

The trunk locking system fails, resulting in the trunk releasing.there is significant complaint of this issue from the subaru community as well.

Moon roof exploded. Like a gun shot going off. Glass cascaded down on me and my wife. Almost killed.

While driving on the hwy the hood spontaneously unlatched and flipped onto the windshield, causing it to shatter. Driver was uninjured, no other vehicles were involved. Hinges were snapped and it caused damage to the fron fenders also. Hood had been opened the day prior for routine maintenance check and hood appeared to latch at that time.

I have had this vehicle for two months, the mileage is 24k miles. A sunny day, 42f, i installed new wiper blades on both front arms in my driveway. I dropped the passenger arm from about 2 inches from the glass and heard a zip sound. A crack appeared from the bottom of the windshield extending about 6 to 7 inches vertically. I drove the car a few miles for an errand that produced a curved extension to the crack making it about 18 inches total length.it is obvious that this is not impact-related damage but inferior glass. There are hundreds if not thousands of subaru owners who have posted similar occurrences online.in 2018, subaru lost a class-action suit last year for this same issue involving 2015-2016 outbacks and legacys but other years and more models are at risk. My impreza does not have wiper heaters as do the vehicles listed in the 2018 suit.this is not only costly to consumers and dealerships but dangerous. Many times vehicle owners are denied service or compensation for repairs which can cause these repairs to be delayed or not done at all. The windshield accounts for a good part of the structural integrity of the vehicle, supporting the cabin and the roof especially in times of collision or a crash.it's time for investigation before the problem elevates and ends in tragedy. We need dependable windshields for safe driving conditions; subaru needs to expand its recalls, testing and warranties to support its customers and retain its longtime quality reputation.

Impreza windshield cracked when thedefroster was turned on in cold weatherthe car was parked in hotel parking lot in boise id. It was snowing overnight and there was about an inch or two of ice on the car windshield. Temperature outside was about 20f. We scraped out the ice on the screen and turned on the defroster (both front and back). While driving once all the ice was melted, we noticed a crack starting from the right bottom of the windshield (near the passenger side). Subaru dealers were not helpful and diagnosed it due to rocks impact, instead of replacing the windshield through warranty. The crack has been spreading ever since and requires a replacement (within 2500 miles), costing $658.
