I replaced the battery on 7/11/15. I needed a smog certificate this month formy registration renewal and my vehicle would not pass for certification. I had driven the vehicle over 700 miles after battery replacement and was told that i needed to drive it an additional 50 to 100 miles non-stop to reset the vehicle to pass the inspection. I asked at the dealership can't you reset the vehicle here so that all this driving and mileage is not required, the dealership stated no. The volkswagen have a reset button on a panelbut not the subaru or any other vehicles. All vehicles should have a reset button and they should be recalled to implement this feature. All vehicles manufactured in the future should have that feature. This incident occurred 11/3/15 thru 11/5/15 having to spend $35.00 additional in gasoline and driving on the congested freeways to reset the vehicle after battery replacement.i was told that i have takata air bags in my vehicle. When will they be replaced? thank you. I was told that i have a takata air bags in my vehicle by the manufacturer. When will they be replaced?

Takata recallit has been over a year since i received the recall notice and subaru still has not produced a fix

Takata recallwe received the recall at the beginning of august.we were told when we called the dealership that it would be ready to repair in september.it now seems there is no answer as to when the repair can be completed.

The "airbag" light for drivers side comes on and goes off randomly. This problem was discovered while under warranty and i did take the vehicle in for repair. But if the dealership ever repaired the problem (i suspect they did not repair it) the light still continues to come on and go off randomly. The dealership quit returning my phone calls years ago now.

Takata recallparts unavailable until march 31, 2018

Takata recallsubaru sent a recall notice in july 2016 indicating that "subaru is in the process of acquiring parts necessary to perform this repair". Meaning that they are not presently able to perform the repair. "until this repair is performed, do not allow passengers to ride in the front passenger seat." this is entirely impractical. I did not purchase a subaru to drive it with no one else in the front seat! i need subaru to either repair the defect in a timely fashion, or to provide me with an alternate form of transportation.

Takata recall - i received a safety recall notice regarding a takata-sourced passenger side frontal airbag. The manual that i received with my 2007 subaru impreza states that i have two (2) airbags (driver's and front passenger's frontal airbags) the notice states that parts are not currently available..we'll notice you again when they are. It also states..until this is performed, do not allow passengers to ride in the front passenger seat...it should also state " do not ride in the driver's seat". I need to ride in the driver's seat to secure groceries, supplies, and dr. Appointments. I sometimes have passengers with me. I did not purchase the vehicle to park it in the garage. Using the 800-782-2783 number for subaru of america there is a recording with a full mailbox..no way to leave a message that i request and demand a corrected notice that i have 2 takata airbags in my vehicle and i want them replaced as soon as possible. The airbags in my vehicle are long past the expiration date of approximately 6 years with the chemical breaking down due to humidity and temperature fluctuations. It is unacceptable to issue an incorrect recall notice and unacceptable to stall on the replacement of these faulty airbags. Your website states that over 9,000,000 airbags have been replaced, but mine have not been replaced. If they have to work day and night to get corrected airbags available, then so be it. I sent an email to the service dept. Of timmons subaru and volkswagen of long beach, ca today advising the above. Thank you for your attention to this issue. Best regards, [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Takata recall: how long is this going to take? my wife is ready to buy a new car but we are unsure about how this recall hanging over the subaru impreza is going to affect our ability to sell or trade in the car. We assume the car can't be sold in this condition, and that's a burden. Please advise: [email protected]

Brandon, the service advisor at subaru of santa cruz, attended to my service and repair needs i had in july of 2017, however not the airbag recall.when i entered the service area i went over my concerns with the vehicle and what services i needed.i also asked brandon to look up and take care of the airbag recall for the vehicle.he said that he would check that out for me. I left the vehicle for a few days and came back to pick it up. I figured airbag recalls are top priorities at subaru and that everything was remedied.after leaving the dealer i took a closer look at the 5 pages of cryptic paperwork that brandon had handed me and found no mention of the recall repair.16 people have died as a result of this defect as of 3/17. I am complaing that this oversight by subaru of santa cruz, having my vehicle in their possesion and not taking care of the safety issue is unacceptable.

Takata recall.i received a letter from subaru today stating that my car is affected by the recall, but that they don't expect to have sufficient parts to begin repairs until march 31, 2018. I am not happy that i will have to wait such a long time to have my car fixed and would like to know whether the dealerships should be forced to make repairs on a faster, more aggressive time table. I am entering the date i received the letter from subraru of america below

I received the notification about the recall in july 2016.it is now 10/31/16 and i am old that the new airbags are not available.i have been told that i will receive a letter when my car can be repaired, but i have not received anything to date.i am concerned that if there is impact or if weather conditions impact the defective airbag that shrapnel can be released and can be fatal to passenger(s).i cannot carry passengers in my vehicle and i am also concerned for my own well being driving my vehicle.

Takata recall - i finally received acknowledgement from subaru of america that i have two airbags..takata-sourced passenger side frontal airbag and toyoda gosei driver-side airbag located in the center of the steering wheel.the safety recall notice that i received indicates that they will only be replacing the takata-sourced passenger side frontal airbag when parts are available...possibly not until feruary, 2017. Timmons subaru where i purchased the subaru stated that they will pay for a rental car, but will not pay for the insurance on the rental car...totally unacceptable. I'm requesting that both manufacturers airbags be removed and do not want them replaced...it's only a matter of time before toyoda gosei's airbagsare exploding either before deployment or upon deployment as arc's did recently. Is it possible that you could secure the information on the type of propellent that toyoda gosei is using in their airbags. Thank you for your attention to these issues.

I was making a slow speed (~25 mph) left turn with my 2007 subaru impreza 2.5i station wagon on a dimly lit intersection at night during the rain.i misjudged the turn, and turned about 2 yards too early.i drove off the road and into a ditch, colliding headon with a concrete storm drain.the driver side airbag deployed at the moment of impact.after the impact, the electrical including the headlights, stereo system and cabin lights were functioning.i was able to exit the car, and spoke with a witness who was able to call the police department.while waiting for the officers, about 6 minutes after the collision the front of the car began to smoke.about a minute later, a fire began behind the right passenger side headlight.when the officers arrived on scene, the fire had progressed so that the entire engine compartment was on fire.by the time the fire department arrived, the heat of the fire had exploded the right front passenger tire.the car was deemed a total loss by my insurance company.

The subaru of america dealership would not pay for a ecu replacement at the subaru dealership i brought the 2007 impreza outback sport to.the bill is $1,100.00 and i am really disappointed in this dealership.they said the mileage is too high to be covered by any warranty. The mileage to date is at 113,000 miles.i received a letter to get the fuel tank one way fuel valve replaced. I did not get that replaced and the subaru dealership said that has no effect on the ecu to fail.is that true?

Electrical system that controls the lights and locks went on and off or flicks on and of without notice. The dealer cannot find the problem. The turbo system was replaced and now is defective again.

Left low beam headlamp was out and determined to be overheated/partially melted connector. Happened twice.

Left and right cylinder head gaskets were blown at 41,295 miles. Low mileage for this type of major engine failure.at 56,976 miles the ignition coil, spark plugs and ignition cables required replacement due to mis-fire condition associated with a cracked ignition coil. The exact same failure occurred at 81,856 miles. Both failures were accompanied by blinking check engine lamps requiring the vehicle be towed to the dealer for repair. Repeat failure of major components reflects persistent defects in design or manufacture.

The vvl pressure switch housing unit chipped causing oil to spill all over the engine and makes the oil i put back in the car jus tleak right back out the next day. The car is no undrivable i have no way to or from work the bus runs no wear near my house im losing money daily i searched up this problem and this happens to most people.

Since the head gasket blew. My car keeps breaking down. I have a toddler. By the oil sensor gauge it keeps breaking and my car starts smoking. My mechanic told me if i kept driving the car would have caught on fire due to the hot oil underneath the hood. I found out i need to repair the head gasket again the second time. Since it was changed the first time my check engine and cruise control keep turning on when i have low rpms, and am in stop and go traffic and high rpms. There are so many people that have this problem and subaru told me they will pay for damages that they own up to. For my head gasket i only received over $200 which it cost me almost $1500. They don't acknowledge all the other material that went into fixing the head gasket like oil and etc. This is the second time in 2 years i will be fixing the head gasket.

Both left and right head gaskets failed. $2000 repair at subaru dealer. Low mileage for such a failure.

Purchased car august 20th. August 24th, 2013 on the way back from pa on 80 east my check engine light came on. Problem was diagnosed as cam position timing over advance or system performance b1 and b2. Code was p0011 and p0021. Wednesday september 11th, 2013 the car was taken to subaru world of newton to be fixed. Needed new cam sprockets and timing belt, along with the timing belt the timing belt tensioner was changed and a small oil leak was plugged with an oil change. That all came out to around 1,500 and that was after negotiating. Monday september 16th, 2013 my check engine light came on and with it had rough idling. Thursday september 19th, 2013 i had the code read and the code p0301 came up which was a cylinder 1 misfire. The code was reset to see if it would reoccur and tuesday september 24th, 2013 the check engine came back on with the same code. I then planned on going to subaru world of newton on saturday the 28th. On friday the 27th i was driving to the mall in rockaway, nj 20 minutes from my house and i started to feel power loss. On the way home from the mall the power loss continued and about 30 seconds from the sparta exit my engine made a knocking noise like something sprung loose and my engine cut off and the car shut off, with no power steering i had to get across the lanes to pull over and wait for a tow truck. Today september 30th the car is sitting at subaru because the diagnostic fee 1-2,000$ and approximate cost for parts and labor is 5-7,000$, total is 6-9,000$.

My sister was driving my car while i was away. She was driving on the road when suddenly the car broke down. She had it towed to our independent mechanic. They stated that the head gasket blew. (soa mentioned to me that not a lot of people complained about it and theymay reimburse me for my repair if i was at a subaru dealer, but since it was at my independent mechanic they have to review it and the parts are suppose to be original) i needed to replace that. Now it smells in the car sometimes (for instance after having heat on, and worse when it rains or snows). It also bucks uncontrollably when coming to a stop. I was told to have a subaru dealer check it out even though it's no more on the warranty. Also, when i bought my car the window defrosters on the back window were damaged. They stated to me that it was my fault that it was damaged and i should repair it out of my own pocket. I don't recommend a subaru to any person, and honestly i don't like their customer service. They only want to receive money and not help people when they have problems. Like other people mentioned. Takata inflators...not sure i am in the right place but we live in missouri and bought a car in tennessee and it will not pass inspection in missouri. So had a mechanical shop start fixing it and the more he got involved the more was wrong with it. Right now it will cost us over 5000 to fix and we bought it for 7000.the shop refuses to do anything about it and says it is not its responsibility. We have pictures of parts that were put on wrong which damaged other parts. They said they bought it an auction and it was not their fault. Sorry if i am in the wrong place if i am could you please send me who i should contact. There other things wrong but could only check 3 items. Thank you.

We bought our subaru impreza with 119.000 miles on it. The motor leaks oil around the passenger side head gaskets. Ours blow up. Warp the heads in another.we have done had 5 motors put in it, n they all do it. This last motor does it but not as bad as the other ones. The warranty company on our subaru said they get alot of calls about this promblem.

The contact owns a 2007 subaru impreza.the contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated and when accelerating in fourth or fifth gear, the vehicle would stall.the dealer advised the contact that the air valve was clogged.the manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance.the contact was awaiting repairs to the vehicle.the current mileage was 114,000 and the failure mileage was 110,000.

(potential for a serious incident or accident). Vehicle surges and bucks uncontrollably in all gears at low speeds, which occasionally forces the foot to depress accelerator accidentally do to violent bucking in slow traffic conditions. Other subarus in the 2.5 liter category do the same thing. I was informed that it is an inherent condition in this vehicle i must live with despite the potential for an accident. The dealer informed me that there was enough complaints on the 2006 model subaru forester experiencing this condition, that subaru of america came up with an ecu upgrade that cured the problem. I was basically told that they would keep me on record so that if and when an ecu upgrade becomes available they will contact me, but until then this is a flaw in this model i must live with. Subaru of america acknowledge the complaint and passed it on to the dealer. I have not heard anything back from subaru of america after the initial contact and the dealer said there is nothing that can currently be done.

2007 subaru impreza. Consumer writes in regards to recall notice and repairs *tgwthe dealer informed the consumer, the part(s) were not available to perform the recall. # 11v464000. Also, the head gasket was replaced. The consumer didn't believe there was a problem with the head gasket, as there were no leaks coming form the vehicle.

Oil leak started, and was pooling on top of engine. Took car to get repaired, was told gasket would need replacement. Upon starting repairs, it was discovered that heli-coil had been over torqued supposedly during installation and due to over torquing, had become stripped resulting in a loose bolt and oil was able to leak out. The failure caused oil to leak out at a catastrophic rate, which could potentially cause engine fire and/or damage to catalytic converter. Old coil was taken out, threads came out with it (demonstrating over torquing), and new coil was installed. Threads from coil are available.

On cold mornings during warm up sitting still or moving there is a strong fuel smell emanating from the heater vents as well as a strong fuel smell from the engine compartment. The raw fuel smell makes the vehicle unusable.

I have a 2007 subaru wrx tr, i purchased a year an half ago, i was driving my car home from work when all of sudden my transmission just started making funny noises, i was able to coast home to my house, put in the driveway, then had it trailed down to my local subaru dealer, i have not heard if under warranty yet but my car only has 26,000 miles and my 3rd gear is gone along with the syncros, in 1st and 2nd gear, i don't think this should be happen to a brand new car, i thought suabaru's were suppose to last forever that's why i got one, if it is not warrantied i will never purchase a subaru again. Just wanted people to know that its not just them that was having problems, its alot of subaru's.i think subaru should live up to a warranty no matter what is wrong with the car, that is the whole point of have a warranty.so why buy a car if they don't hold up to what they tell you.

Transmission failure:brand new 2007 subaru impreza, has broken down twice now.subaru denies warranty.the first transmission repair cost me $2700, now they want another $4500, for the 2nd repair.this car has 5959 miles on it.

To whom it may concern, i don't know if the nhtsa is someone that can help, but i figure i would try.i'm at my wits end.i have a 2007 subaru wrx four door sedan.in april of 2008 i was driving my car in a 35 mile per hour zone and shifted my manual transmission from 2nd gear to 3rd gear.it popped out of gear when i began accelerating.needless to say the car was undrivable and i had to have it towed to my nearest subaru dealership, brown pontiac, subaru here in amarillo tx.they tore the transmission apart to find that the third gear was "stripped" out and not covered under warranty.they said i had abused my car.it was and still is in great condition.i paid $908.00, half the repair cost to get my one and only car out of the shop.last tuesday, 8-5-08, i was driving my car again.i shifted from 1st gear to 2nd gear.i could not put it in 2nd gear so, i didn't force it.i let the clutch out and reengaged it.i hear a bang in the transmission and it was over.today, almost a week later, the same subaru dealership, brown, called me and said 2nd gear was "stripped" out of it, just like 3rd gear.no one was injured in these incidents.there are several subaru wrx owners with the same transmission problems.soa "subaru of america",refuse to think they may have a defect part or parts in there transmissions, or that their transmissions will fail.i'm facing a $3000.00 repair bill.i have driven my car 4 months and about 7000 miles.please help us!

The contact owns a 2007 subaru impreza.the contact stated that when shifting from fifth to fourth gear, the gears become stuck.while attempting to shift into fourth gear, the vehicle shifts into reverse.the contact heard a rattling noise coming from the gear shift assembly.he took his vehicle to the dealer on five occasions to have the gear shift assembly repaired.the dealer repaired the vehicle the first four times.the contact was not sure of which parts were actually replaced, but he believed that the dealer repaired the springs in the gear shift assembly and replaced the exact same parts for all four failures.after the fifth failure, the dealer stated they did not know what else to do to remedy the failure.the manufacturer was unable to provide assistance.the speed was unknown.the current mileage was 5,500 and failure mileage was 3,000.*updated 12/12/07 updated 12/12/07

While driving down the road(luckily at 35 mph) the brake pedal went straight to the floor. I down shifted and used the ebrake and stopped safely and noticed a puddle under the car in front of the passenger side rear tire. After getting the vehicle home safely, and checking things out, i noticed the 4 way connector (recalled under campaign# wqk-47) was severely rusted and looks as though it had never been addressed. Then, while looking up the part, i noticed there was a recall, but not on my specific year and model, even though the surrounding models and years were recalled. Perhaps this was overlooked? or the amount of unmodified surviving wrx's didn't peticularly justify a recall on that model? either way, it could potentially be a dangerous situation. This is also an incredibly involved fix. The part on the 06-07 impreza wrx is the exact same part that was recalled on the 05-08 outbacks and legacys. I will be calling subaru of america today and hopefully they will be able to help me out. But you guys should have them notify any 06-07 wrx owners in the rust belt that this might be a potential safety hazard! feel free to call me at [xxx]for any further explanation! thanks, [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The rear wheel bearings on my car had to be replaced after less than 50k miles. This is not typical wear and tear, the part was defective. The car was outside the manufactures warranty period so i had to pay for the defective part repairs myself.

Road salt rusting out brake lines at junction right in font of right rear wheel.vehicle lost breaking.pedal went to the floor, had to pump the brakes and use hand brake to stop.this maybe like the other salt related brake line recalls for this model other years and other subaru models same years.

When i hit the brakes hard for an emergency stop last night the peddle went to the floor and nothing happened, so i took my foot off the peddle and then reapplied and they worked fine, but by that point the deer had already hit me.

I was driving and i had my right hand firmly on the wheel.meanwhile i moved my left hand to the back side of the steering wheel.i got my middle finger stuck in the small indent (with the nut/bolt) on the driver's lefthand side on the backside of the wheel. 2. My middle finger got stuck in that indented hole and i received an electric shock.the horn/alarm was actually triggered somehow and went off while driving as a result of my finger being stuck there.i had excruciating pain in my finger.within the few seconds that it took me to pull my finger out, it was already red, swollen, and burnt.the passenger in my car had to lean over and pull the car off onto a side road as i was in too much pain.

The rear wheel bearings on my car had to be replaced after less than 50k miles. This is not typical wear and tear, the part was defective. The car was outside the manufactures warranty period so i had to pay for the defective part repairs myself.

I was at the dealership having a recall done for my front suspension a frames. (wvx34) and was told that the vehicle needed more extensive repairs as parts were corroded and could not be changed without being damaged. I was told subaru had refused to agree the repairs until their dpsm had seen the vehicle, he would be at the dealer in the next 4 weeks. I contacted the dealer on the 5th december to be told the rep would be in until the 18th december (i am out of the country then). I contacted subaru as i was disappointed with the service and the contacted the dealer and called me back on the 6th. I was told that the vehicle was dangerous and that the repairs were $5,000 worth and that i would have to pay as they had corrosion and that this wasn't part of the recall and the dpsm date was still the 18th. I would assume that if the a frames wee damaged due to corrosion and that the same corrosion had damaged other parts of the suspension then this would not be my liability. I am driving a dangerous vehicle (says the dealer to subaru but not me) and subaru not only don't care enough to inspect the vehicle as a matter of urgency but do not want to repair the vehicle.so the complaint is that the recall(wvx34) is just for a frames and the actual corrosion damage is much more extensive.

Thank you.

The contact owns a 2007 subaru impreza. While pulling into the driveway, the control arm failed and the wheels seized. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The dealer (wallace subaru, 320 volunteer pkwy, bristol, tn 37620, (888)-859-0650) was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.

The contact owns a 2007 subaru impreza.when the contact activated the defroster, the windshield cracked.the dealer stated that they would not replace the windshield for free.the contact will have the windshield replaced elsewhere.she feels that the failure was due to a manufacturer defect.the vin was unknown.the failure mileage was 75,000 and current mileage was 75,700.

Wipers aren't fast enough in heavy rain or light rain at highway speeds. Vehicle is low enough to the ground that spray from other cars makes it impossible to see. Even with bosch wiper blades. The speed simply isn't enough, even a new wiper motor is too slow. It's like driving in a whiteout.

Rear wheel bearings had to be replaced at 60k miles. Began noticing the noise from the failing bearings around 50k miles. Upon replacement, the bearing races were visually inspected and found to have major pitting on both the inner and outer races.
