Hi. I purchase my 2019 subaru crosstrek in october of 18 because i decided to suck it up and have a payment to ensure i had a safe vehicle for myself and for my son. Since we always purchase subarus through my work, i went that route because i've been very pleased with them especially with safety. In may of 2000 19, i was driving to harrisburg for work and i had my son with me and a whole egg that was presenting at the conference we were headed to. On the way there, on 22 east where there was a lot of construction but a highway, i went to go around a truck where i accelerated and went to go into the slower lane once i passed him but all the sudden, i lost complete power and my car shut off!!! i hurried up and got it back on and somehow the truck that i just passed was able to maneuver but it was super scary. Sadly, this happened two more times on the strip where my car just shut off so i just stayed in the slow lane and prayed while i was in one lane because i called subaru and they told me that.. I'm just recalling all this now because i got the recall in the mail. I had called subaru the week before i went on this trip and they told me that they thought it was a few ignition thing. And that i should get gas and see if all the lights turned off because all the lights and turn on after the first time it is shut off. Long story short, they kept it for about a thousand miles to test it out because i was adamant that i didn't want it back until it was safe so they replace the tire sensor which i had known for my last vehicle would not cause the car to shut off but they assured me this would solve the problem. I haven't had any problems since except for the continued electrical problems that i have inside the car and where the car runs at night even after its shut off.
Original battery failed 5 times in 6 months and was finally replaced by dealer. Second battery failed after a month and has now been replaced again by dealer. Vehicle had been driven for 20 minutes or more at least twice a week before the 2nd battery failure.
Vehicle battery will not hold power. Vehicle will not turn on and requires charging before it will turn on. Has happened 5 times in last month. Vehicle stationary.
I was driving in traffic to complete stop, as i was accelerating the vehicle stalled. This has happened only once. I have had another incident when i was backing up to park my car in my garage, my back up camera froze while im still in motion then the infotainment reboots.
For the third time, the battery on this car needs to go back for service - the car is housed in a garage on our property and is turned on every 3-4 days. This morning and twice before the car doesn't start. In the previous 2 times the car was completely dead and i had to jump start it and take it to the dealer where they said they replaced the battery. This morning when trying to start the car, the lights were flashing but the engine did not turn over. The same thing happened with our last subaru a 2015 subaru impreza. We feel the car should not need to be started every day nor should we need to put on a trickle charger as suggested by jeff at paul miller subaru who i understand is the service manager there in parsippany, nj where we bought the car. The car was parked inside the garage. Also whenever we were able to turn on the car, the radio comes on immediately. I think something else is draining the battery and is probably a design defect. We last started the car and drove it on wednesday evening. The had this problem yesterday.
I received 2 recall notices in the mail from subaru 0n 6/16/2021.i immediately contacted the selling dealer, dunning subaru, ann arbor michigan and was advised that they could not even give me a date in july when the vehicle could be repaired, but they would add my name to a waiting list for appointments.i contacted subaru customer service for assistance and was told i would have to find a local retailer on my own and that though they said the vehicle was not safe to drive, they refused to offer and substitute transportation until the vehicle could be repaired.i contacted lafontaine subaru, commerce twsp, mi and was advised that they have been unable to order sufficient parts for this recall and while the earliest available appointment was for july 7th (3 weeks from today) they could not guarantee that they would have the parts on that date to actually perform the repair.in short, subaru produced a defective vehicle; advised me it was not safe to drive the vehicle; is unable to repair the vehicle in a reasonable timeframe; and refuses to provide substitute transportation.what is the good of a recall program if repairs can't be made and the customer is stuck without transportation; and the company response is essentially - "it's the customers problem to deal with - have a nice day!"
I purchased a new 2019 subaru crosstrek plug-in hybrid vehicle from ocean subaru of fullerton ca on july26, 2019. A charging cable w/ charging circuit interrupting device came standard equipment w/ my vehicle. When i used the cable to charge my vehicle, i was going to insert the charger plug (3 prong plug) into my 110v outlet. But in order to do it, i would need to twist the cord that extends from the ccid into the plug to make itfit. The ground for the outlets is always positioned on the bottom of the plug. I realized that twisting the cord to make it fit is contrary to the directions that are in the owners manual. The way the subaru charging plug is fitted onto the cord, it is upside down, therefore, you have to twist the cord so the round bottom ground plug will fit into the slot. The ccid has lights on the front indicating power is on, charging, or an error alert. If i simply turned the unit backwards, the plug would fit just fine. But that is not how it is described or shown in the owners manual. It clearly shows that the front of the ccid should face frontwards so you can see the indicator lights. Simply put, the design and/or manufacture of the plug needs to be positioned the opposite way. In the owners manual, and w/ the charging plug itself, there are very explicit directions on what to do and not do w/ the charging plug. Always have the plug straight, no kinks or loops, no twisting the cable to prevent fires and/or explosion. By not correcting this error in the plug positioning, constant twisting of the cable could result in frayed or weakened wires within the rubber cord insulation, causing an unintended consequence, like a fire or explosion. Sincerely,[xxx]ps. I can send photos of the charging cable and the image of the charging procedure from the owners manual if you need it.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).*as
My new subaru crosstrek has a problem with the radio preset stations. I programmed them soon after i purchased the car but 6 weeks later the preset stations disappeared and only the pre-installed (free trial) stations on sxm radio were working. I had to reprogram the stations. When i called the dealership, auto fair of haverhill, ma, they said they were aware of the 'recall' (their term not mine) but that the recall was recalled due to problems with the 'software update '. They asked me to call again next week to see if a solution is available
After starting the car and beginning to reverse away from my home, the rear view camera froze for 10 seconds, not showing any change in moving or stationary objects. This happened due to the driver screen interface/entertainment system crashing and rebooting. The crash/reboot usually happens if the car pairs by bluetooth with a phone that is in the house, and then gets out of range when the car backs away or drives away from the house. If it crashes while reversing, the screen either goes blank or freezes the rear view image in place. If the system crashes while driving forward then the reverse camera image is not affected. When the camera freezes while reversing, it is very dangerous since it gives the driver the false view that nothing is behind the car when there could be a child or object.
While driving down interstate highway, lots of warning lights suddenly appeared on dashboard. Car would only brake, not accelerate. After safely pulling off to side of road, car engine would not start. I was initially told the ecm (compuer) failed, but now it's an engine problem. Nearly 2 weeks later, car is still in the shop.
I purchased my 2019 crosstrek in november of 2018.on numerous occasions the radio / touchscreen resets itself.however before each self started reset a loud buzzing or static noise comes across the speakers scaring the ever living daylights out of me (the driver).this is a safety concern / hazard as i was driving on the interstate on one occasion of this.i have had the whole system replaced by my dealership at no charge 1 month after purchase.yet the radio still has the same issues.all radio stations i have programmed in are erased with each self restart of the radio / touch screen that god awful noise still happens.subaru dealership says there are no software or hardware updates at this time.so what the heck gives!!seriously someone is going to crap their pants and have a heart attack driving this vehicle what the radio blasts static air waves across our speakers!
Stationary. Battery has been replaced 4 times. First subaru said that it needed to be started every couple of weeks. Then they said that it had to be started or driven ever week. Now they say it has to be driven "more" after previous instructions have been followd. Battery dies, becomes defective, and dealership replaces it.
2019 subaru crosstrek. Consumer writes in regard speedometer red dim light an older style transmission. *asthe consumer stated the lighting on the instrument panel was insufficient and could not be manually adjusted separate from the headlights. The consumer stated the transmission does shift quick enough.
The auto lock function has mysteriously stopped working. Traditionally, auto lock will work as the car begins to roll right in reverse or drive. After startup in morning on my way to work, the auto locks mysteriously stopped engaging as they always had before. This problem has continued and now the auto-lock function does not work all together. The auto shop has looked at it with my local dealer and they cannot solve this issue.
The car was purchased in november, and the battery failed in april after multiple dead batteries and jump starts. The battery was replaced as 'defective.' the car was jumped again for a dead battery in june. The battery died again in july, and the tech said that the reason was that the car had to be driven every 5 days or the battery would be dead. In august, the car was taken in and again the diagnosis was a defective battery, and it was replaced, though they also said that the car needed to be started and driven once a week.
The contact owns a 2019 subaru crosstrek. The contact stated while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was parked on the side of the roadway. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to bill rapp subaru (3446 burnet ave, syracuse, ny 13206, (315) 437-2501) where it was diagnosed with unknown electrical issues. The contact stated that the failure recurred three times. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 24,680.
Starter failed at 50 k miles left me stranded
Eye sight notification and engine light turns on and we lost power steering whilst driving the vehicle.
My wifes car started smelling like gasoline inside the passenger compartment. We took it to a subaru dealer and a rodent had chewed the high pressure gas line. It then sprayed gasoline right into her back seat foam and cushion. If we take the rodent out of the equation, this car is not safe and we want our money back in full. The material for wiring and fuel lines are made from a soy based product attracting rodents. The seal they use for the gas tank access under the rear seat is a cheap foam not a neoprene rubber or o-ring. If the gas would of leaked onto just the ground i wouldn't even be typing this letter. I am extremely concerned about high pressure gas getting into the passenger compartment. I want to contact a lawyer about this and make subaru accountable. The dealer even told me it was the second one in 2 weeks. They must use a soy based fuel line to attract to rodent, and then the foam seal in no way is safe to prevent a pressure of gasoline from reaching inside the vehicle. My wifes car is 13 mo old and only has 7400 miles on it. She is devastated as this was her first brand new car ever. No we have a car with gas smell inside forever. Please help us!
Iā€™m having continuous problems with my car not starting or a dead battery. It has been in for for service 3x for this issue abc one of those times they replaced the battery. On 6/24/21 i picked up my car from the service department after leaving it there for several days only for them to tell me nothing is wrong with my car. 20 minutes later and my car wonā€™t start which i captured on video. This car seems to have an electrical issue that no one wants to admit to.
Our 2019 subaru crosstrek (16.8k miles) is not being driven as often as it used to be because we are now working from home. On 4/4/2020 we found the original battery drained dead after only 6 days of the car being undriven. Tried and failed to start the car - dashboard lights lit up but there were rapid clicking sounds. To get it to the dealer, i started the process of jump starting it with my battery-pack type jump starter. I attached the positive cable to the positive terminal first, and the jump starter's indicator light was flashing 'all good ' continue'. I then attached the negative cable to the negative terminal and the indicator light turned red, which means 'there is something wrong ' do not proceed'. On 4/6, i brought the dead battery to the dealer using my other car. They checked the battery and because the car is still under warranty, i received a new subaru-branded battery. I went home, installed it, and turned the car on to make sure everything worked. On 4/10, we started up the crosstrek and took it for a several-mile trip. 6 days later, after the car not being driven, the new battery was dead - key fob would not open the car, no dashboard lights came on when we tried to start the car. Using my jump starter again, i received the same indicator light warning. We had the crosstrek towed to the dealer on 4/16. Technicians could find nothing wrong. They charged the battery and kept the car until 4/20 when they tried to start it up ' it started. We picked the car up and drove it home. Today is 4/27. The car has started up after 6 days of not being driven although last wed. And sun. I charged the battery a bit using a trickle charger. I currently do not get a warning light on my jump starter when i do a test. We are now going to drive it when we need to without using the battery charger and see what happens.
All elextrical was diabeled, no s drive, no response to key fob, could not take car out of park, check engine light on.car was workig when parked at store, came out and the car would not start and kept giving me error mesages.the ybrid batter was good and i finally was able to use the hybrid mode to get the car to the dealership.
Car has repeatedly turned itself off while driving. Twice, when pressing the brakes whileexiting the highway, all dashboard lights (eyesight alarms, check engine, etc.) will turn on. When the car comes to a stop, the oil light also turns on and the engine shuts off, essentially putting the car in neutral. The dash instructs to put the car in park. The car starts again after pushing the ignition to turn off the car and turning it back on again, but will have the same thing happen the next time the brakes are pressed and the car slows down. It has turned off twice while the vehicle is in motion, going slowly. After three first instances of this problem, the car was towed to the dealer where they found a "fatal error of the ecm" and the main computer in the car was changed and the grounds were tested. The second instance of this problem occurred on the same day the vehicle was picked up from repairs. The car had ~200 miles when the problem first occurred and has less than 250 currently. In summary, the car has turned off, making it unable to accelerate, while in traffic on several occasions. There were issues with apple carplay glitching just before each instance occurred. The instances were exactly one week apart.
I bought my car in mexico and have moved to north las vegas nevada. The dealer will not make the necessary safety repairs under the recalls.what do i do? do i have an unsafe car?
Some time this car aceleracin more like put more full, i start to notice when i was driven in the specific speed and the car start to put more full and speed more than i was
The contact owns a 2019 subaru crosstrek. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v743000 (electrical system) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called island subaru (1257 hylan blvd, staten island, ny 10305 (718)697-6000) where the appointment was cancelled three times and the contact was referred to another local dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact had not experienced a failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. Parts distribution disconnect.
I've had repeated problems with the 12v battery in my 2019 subaru crosstrek hybrid.the vehicle has some sort of electrical "leakage" issue that drains the battery after sitting for a few days.when this happens, the vehicle is completely inoperative; car will not start, you cannot even unlock the doors.in 18 months of ownership, the car has stranded me several times.one incident just required a jump start, but during the latest incident the car was completely dead and had to be towed on a flat bed truck to the dealer for a new battery and other repairs.in all of these cases, all accessories, lights, or anything else that could drain power was off when the car was parked.unfortunately, there is something in the car that is drawing power when it is off and drains the battery within days.
The contact owns a 2019 subaru crosstrek. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start which resulted in the battery needing to be replaced. The contact stated that the check battery message was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was diagnosed and repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.
My 2019 subaru crosstrek has a substantial power/accentuation hesitation when starting out. Car is not responsive to increased acceleration pressure for a couple seconds. Also, when traveling at lower speeds 0-50mph and you have to adjust you speed gradually by letting up and gently pushing on the gas, the car can shutter/slight buck.this is a constant/consistent issue.

I purchased my 2019 subaru crosstrek hybrid on 5/31/19.i had the first incidence of the ?all the warning lights come on? in october 9, 2019.as i was between towns in rural northern ny, and 75 miles from home this was scary.i pulled over, checked the oil and fluids (all were ok), and called the dealer. They said i could continue to drive the car and to bring it in the next day when i got home.so i continued to my next destination and shut off the car for about 2 hours during our haircuts.then when i restarted the car the problem recurred. I drove part way home that way and we stopped at a restaurant for supper. When we resumed our trip after supper the warning lights were gone. I took the car to the dealer the next day, october 10. They could find no reason for the problem and it was not then occurring.subsequently the problem recurred on 12/20, 12/21, and 12/22/19.and on 1/16/20 the headlights wouldn?t work!on february 12, 2020 the problem recurred on a trip out of town.i have visited the dealer four more times for this problem ? on 11/19/19, 12 /12/19, 12/20/19, and 1/2/20.during that time the service manager stated that there were multiple reports of similar problems on 2019 crosstrek hybrids. He asked me, and i agreed, to be one of a dozen crosstrek owners in the us to have monitoring hardware installed to read the electronic codes which resulted when the problem occurred. On february 12, 2020 the problem recurred.i contacted the dealer to let them know.on may 7th 2020, the problem recurred yet again.barstow?s service department contacted me to arrange for another appointment scheduled for 6/8/20. The purpose was to update the electronic system with a ?fix? derived from the study in which i participated in dec 2019-january 2020.the next day, june 9, i started the car and the problem recurred!
When accelerating rpm display at approximately 2-3 thousand rpms starts to jolt and the rpm needle bounces up and down as the acceleration continues!! the vehicle does this when going from a full stopped position to accelerating.

At around the 2000 mile mark i noticed a drastic reduction in fuel econemy. I also started noticing metal particles in the engine oil. I also noticed a significant drop in engine power as well. This is a sign of debris getting in the engine and causing metal particles to become broken off.my mileage went from 460-480 mpt to 360-380 mpt. (mpt=miles per tank) i have brought the vehicle into the dealership and nothing was found from thrm testing the fuel system. I have been documenting this thru photograps on my tripometer. I took dealerships advice and tried a different gas station with the same results. Fuel econemy is averaging 22-33 mpg city/highway. I drive 20 of 25 miles each way to work on the highway. The display that reads gas mileage based on how i drive in the car says i should be getting between 27-28 mpg based on how i drive.

Since i bought this car in march 2019 i have had problems.it has been in for service 5 times and each time i told them sometimes when you push the accelerator pedal the engine stutters or misfires.some times it does not even respond to pushing the accelerator pedal.this is infrequent and they have not been able to experience it.but, it does exist and i am afraid about the safety.for example i was at a stop sign and started to turn left and i pressed the accelerator pedal and it went about ten feet and would not go further.i pumped the pedal and two or three seconds later it moved.subaru told me i could trade it in and they would give me$2000 towards a new car along with a trade in value of $18,500this is horrible.i fear the safety but also don't want to spend another $8 ,000 for a vehicle i should not have to buy.on the second visit to the dealer for service and problem with engine they said there was too much oil in the engine.they were the only ones who touched the oil that was put in the enginesince the day i bought the car.this is a problem that no one is helping me with.also, i did have a recall for the need to update the engine coil software programing.
My subaru crosstrek is a 2019 - less than 2 years old and still covered by warranty. It has been meticulously cared for and only dealer serviced. 3 days ago the car's engine shut off while we were driving it. There was a complete loss of power to the brakes and steering. We could have been killed. I brought the car in immediately to the dealer service i have always been going to, and they cannot find anything wrong with the car. In his own words, the service manager said "i would not feel comfortable letting my family or loved ones using your car" - but he offered no help. He said that they can't find a problem, they can't find an error code, and there is nothing they can do. I don't feel safe driving this vehicle given that a serious, dangerous, hazards, and potentially life-threatening engine failure occured with no apparent cause in a brand new car. The fact that the service manager himself said that it's not safe to drive but couldn't offer any explanation of why the information occured is very frustrating. The dealership is giving me a dangerous car back with no knowledge of how to fix it or when it will happen again. If the engine dies on the highway or on a crowded street, it could cause an accident in which myself and others are seriously injured or killed.
Car hesitates on acceleration.
I am appealing to you for help with a dangerous problem. The engine of my new 2019 subaru crosstrek stalls when i jam on the break. This has happened twice on the road. Both times i was able to avert a fatal accident. 1.) the first time the engine shut down from a hard stop occurred the night of december 26th. The driver was on the highway, when he made a sharp break realizing he'd gone in the wrong direction. The car's engine shut down on the highway. Luckily it was night and few cars were on the road 2.) on sunday, april 7th, i was driving slowly on a country road. I stopped suddenly before a stop sign i hadn't seen. The car engine shut down. I had to turn the engine on a couple of times before the car got going. Luckily i was driving on a country road where there were few cars. I did a little research on the problem of the engine shutting off and found that this is a known issue with certain subaru crosstreks. The subaru dealer in vestal, ny, and subaru america did inspections on my car and concluded that there is no data confirming the problem. I say that the readings are not telling the whole story. I want a complete diagnosis and resolution to this dangerous problem. I want to know what is causing a shutoff when breaking suddenly and a solution, whatever that may be. I want to be safe on the road as do other people who have been reporting the same problem:http://www.subaruxvforum.com/forum/engine-drivetrain/163282-engine-stall-afer-hard-breaking.html?amp=1https://www.yourmechanic.com/estimates/subaru/crosstrek/when-i-slow-down-and-stop-the-car-engine-shuts-off-inspection

Vehicle in motion ,accelerated withoutwarning , and collided into a tree located on curb of sidewalk, no injuries to 2 occupants wearing seatbelts, major damage to front of vehicle. No explanation for vehicle movingunexpectly
My daughter was in process of pulling her car into the garage when it experienced sudden acceleration and crashed into the garage.my daughter was unable to stop the car as the brake system failed during the incident.she is now too terrified to drive the car. Subaru claims that the car is and has been operating as intended.the subaru eyesight, anti-lock braking, vehicle dynamic control systems all failed during the sudden acceleration event.it's fortunate that this incident did not happen at a stoplight (intersection).
My subaru crosstrek plug in hybrid has repeatedly (8 times now) had the check engine safety light come on which disables some of the safety features. Subaru has replaced a number of parts including the fuel pressure sensor, the charcoal cannister assembly, the air conditioning computer and harness. Recently they replaced the ecm control and now the car has again failed and is siting in my garage waiting for subaru to get back to me. What should i do?
I am driving down hwy17 downhill when traffic slowed and as i slowed the engine and car completely shut down , no power , very little steering control.i was able to pull off without incident. I do fear the reoccurrence of this problem and i do feel this is dangerous and hope the complaint is considered and addresed
Car hesitates on acceleration persists after recall (replacement of ignition coils). Condition persists since purchase (nov, 2019). Numerous repair orders did not correct problem.
While slowing down to a stop an exit ramp with a signal, the engine suddenly shut off, and the vehicle became immobile. All warning lights came on the instrument panel, and there was a message instructing to move the gear to 'park'. I had to shut off the engine and restart before the car could move. It was a dangerous situation.
This vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission.at night, when headlights are set on "auto," the illuminated gear indicator light adjacent to the shifter do not illuminate.this leaves the possibility of shifting the car into the wrong gear.these lights do illuminate with the lights set to manual.the specific incident occurred when an older driver parked the vehicle, thinking she had shifted into park, and instead, the vehicle began to reverse.had she been able to visually verify the gear, this would not have happened.
The eyesight turned off and would not turn back on. Then the airbag symbol lit up on the dashboard. My cruise control and lane assistance were not working as well. If i had been involved in an accident, the airbags would not have deployed. The warning messages appeared about 3 weeks ago.
Windshield is very easily cracked or chipped from the smallest pebbles hitting it while going even 35 mph. With the adaptive cruise control, getting the windshield fixed and the sensors recalibrated could cost a fortune.

My first subaru. On the drive home from the dealership, a rock cracked the windsheild. Less than a week later, while traveling on a freeway for just a few minutes, another rock hit the windshield and caused a major crack/ long line across on another part of the window. So unexpected, unusual and i hope not predictive of consistent glass issues. The bigger issue is that upon acceleration, the acceleration often, briefly, loses power. Like something is impeding the fuel momentarily. I've become accustomed to it but it took some getting used to. I worry that it is the sign of a major defect/issue. The car is the current model year, though, i did purchase it with 6,000 miles on it. I've wondered if these issues are what caused the previous owner to trade it in within months of buying it new.
Car has hesitated and stumbled since new. Very low power. Taken to two different dealerships to correct problem. Recall for ignition down. Problem persists
Some time this car aceleracin more like put more full, i start to notice when i was driven in the specific speed and the car start to put more full and speed more than i was
My wifes car started smelling like gasoline inside the passenger compartment.
Cuts out momentarily when accelerator is pressed and dealer says thats normal. This is dangerous when merging in traffic.

Cuts out on accelerating
Car hesitates and stalls out at slow speeds and has stalled while pulling out into a intersection. We have taken it to the dealer and at first we're told nothing was wrong then they kept the car for seven days and found an issue with a sensor once replaced the car was running okay for a week then the hesitation and sluggishness is back and we are again told no codes are showing that the car is fine. I was driving and it almost stalled in an intersection again and was bogging out for a full minute before regaining power. The car is back at the dealer again!

Ever since i have owned the car may 2019 i have had the problem of dangerous unstable steering when it automatically departs from lanes at speeds above 50 mph in all weather conditions wet sunny mountains hilly when it puts all us in danger when tha driver has to adjust the car. Twice i have taken to the dealership and no action was taken and we remain apprehensive about driving our less than 6000 miles. It is unsafe and dangerous. Can any thing be done.

When accelerating rpm display at approximately 2-3 thousand rpms starts to jolt and the rpm needle bounces up and down as the acceleration continues!! the vehicle does this when going from a full stopped position to accelerating.

Occasionally, while accelerating, it feels as if the car loses acceleration and the engine loses power. It happens while vehicle is in motion slow speeds and fast speeds.
Pulled into a parking space and placed the vehicle in park, turned the vehicle off, removed the key and exited the vehicle. When returning to the vehicle within 5 minutes, the vehicle had rolled backwards 25 feet and hit 2 parked cars. I unlocked the vehicle, entered it and started the car to return to my original parking space so i could call the police to report a fender bender.i will be calling my dealership in the morning to have the vehicle inspected for safety.in the meantime i parked the vehicle and applied the emergency brake as an added precaution.

At times vehicle has stuttered acceleration or delayed acceleration.this is very noticeable after car had been running for more that an hour at freeway speeds.twice i have taken my subaru in to have it look at once on 1/2020 and again 5/2020.subaru has recorded as issue twice over 517 miles.at techline investigation has been opened up.they think this is a software issue. They have deemed this normal operation and safe to drive. My car has a problem and its not being addressed by subaru. This is a new car with 14307 miles on it. This acceleration issue happens on the freeway and around town at 35 mph.

The contact owns a 2019 subaru crosstrek. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag occupant classification system deactivated when the seat was occupied. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, but an appointment was scheduled for october 11, 2019 at grayson subaru (8729 kingston pike, knoxville, tn 37923). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000. *pmconsumer stated design/ safety defect creates confusion and concern for appropriate activation status of passenger airbag and seatbelt lights.
As i was driving down the street applied my brakes to slow down at a red light my driver's seat slid forward very fast pinning me against the steering wheel. At that time my leg was foldedcause i was up against dash andit made me slammy brakes on very fast and quick. I am lucky my foot was not on the gas at the time or i would have went through the intersection. The next day as i was driving my seat slid forward a little but locked into the next spot. I had gotten a hold of subaru and made an appointment but they cannot see me for a week. It is very unsafe someone could really get hurt.

Eye sight notification and engine light turns on and we lost power steering whilst driving the vehicle.
The lane assist is sometimes overly aggressive, without warning.when taking an exit ramp to the right it once violently tried to correct to the left.in crosswinds it's like trying to steer a mario cart game and will jerk you back and forth in the lane.

The contact owns a 2019 subaru crosstrek. While driving approximately 30 mph over an uneven surface, the vehicle veered to the right. The steering wheel had to be straightened by force by the contact. The contact stated that the failure occurred all the time ever since the vehicle was purchased. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, but an appointment was scheduled with wilkins subaru (6917 richie hwy, glen burnie, md 21061). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.
When lane departure system is activated, steering gets loose.wheels may not respond to steering wheel for 1 second.subaru says this is normal.i stopped using the system after drifting off a 2 lane country road at 50 m.p.h. I have this system in my toyota,it does not negatively effect steering wheel control.
Driving 70 mph, cruise on but not set, lane keep assist was on.driving down middle of my lane on the highway the car abruptly turns to the right.i could not recover fast enough to avoid going into the next lane.because i was over the line, the lane departure gave me an alert. A few days later it happened for the 2nd time. Same speed, same abrupt force turning the car, this time to the left.i may have been close the the right side of my lane but nonetheless, it suppose to nudge the steering wheel back into my lane.not an abrupt turn.it certainly gets your attention and could cause an accident.
I bought my car in mexico and have moved to north las vegas nevada. The dealer will not make the necessary safety repairs under the recalls.what do i do? do i have an unsafe car?
At highway speeds, during a mild turn, the car unexpectedly pulls in the same direction as the turn. First occurred 3 weeks after purchase. Took car to dealer immediately. May be related to existing steering recall. Dealer cooperative so far. Checked vin against existing recall, but it was not associated on the ntsb web site.
When driving, especially at highway speeds, the steering will unexpectedly push the car across the lane, sometimes harshly, especially around curves. This is more than a simple nudge for lane assist, it scares the heck out of you as you fight the steering wheel to maintain control. At least on our car it's enough to cause an accident!the car has been in to subaruthree times to correct this problem, without success. After informing subaru of america and opening a formal complaint (case #148267253025) they dismiss this as the eye sight/lane assist working, and say the remedy is to turn this safety feature off...which to us is ridiculous and not why we purchased this car.as we have informed subaru the car sits in our garage as we are simply too afraid to drive it.our initial complaint was in july, after our first road trip, and the problem recurs irregularly and without warning.the car now has 5725 miles on the odometer.
The pak paint code chips all over the vehicle. I had to fight with subaru to have the vehicle repainted and this is a known common issue. Within 2 days of purchasing the vehicle, the paint started chipping off.
I see this as a potential safety problem and not an immediate safety problem. It involves a 2019 subaru crosstrek. On 3 different occasions, weeks or months apart, the hood has popped up 1 inch and has been stopped by the safety hook. I notice this only when i reach highway speeds and the front hood "flutters" up and down. There is no indication, from inside the car, that the hood has partially released at speeds under 50 mph.on none of these 3 occasions, has the hood release lever, near the drivers left leg, been activated, pulled or bumped. I've only intentionally opened the hood once or twice -- and the process seems normal.this hood release problem has never resulted in loss of forward vision or with the hood in a fully "up" position. The car is 7 months old with about 7,500 miles on it; so this is happening roughly every 2 months. I rarely drive on dirt or bumpy roads. It's impossible to know exactly when the hood release actually occurs without pulling upward on the hood regularly or driving at highway speeds. There has been no front end damage or trauma.
Windshield cracked in cold weather while warming up. Driver side sun visor fell off as i was driving as well.
Strut has creaking sound during driving in city traffic.on highway there is hardly any noise and works fine. Dealer suggested strut replacement but not under warranty since it was in accident in that area 6 months ago.
Rear suspension feels weak. The car is always squatting while driving. Headlights shine into other drivers eyes with just my children in the back. (less than 100 lbs)

The car parked was found with a defective windshield (horizontal crack without apparent reason). The defective windshield seemed to occur spontaneously because my requested police investigation did not find any evidence on the cause of harm.
Cracked windshield.
This car was leased on june 3, 2009. Almost immediately i noticed that at slow speed in a parking lot or at an intersection, the car bogs down and shakes and bucks. Something like an inexperienced driver trying to drive a stick shift and not knowing how to shift smoothly. The bucking is very noticeable to everyone in the car. Even passengers ask what is wrong with it. This issue is constant and dangerous when trying to get out of the way of another driver.
My windshield developed a small crack in it while sitting in the garage. On feb 7th while driving into town on a very cold day i had the defroster on and watched with windshield crack a good 12 inches right about the heat vents
Passenger front door, corner glass splintered while driving on highway.unlikely, a rock or debris impact because of location.possible glass tempered issue?
Windshield cracked in cold weather while warming up. Driver side sun visor fell off as i was driving as well.
The collision avoidance system is dangerous. Twice it has stopped the car for no reason. I was not close to another vehicle and i was not speeding. The system applied the brakes which cause both my passenger and me to be forced forward against the seat belts.the car actually skidded. What is worse is that the car behind me had no warning that i was going to be stopped and almost could not avoid a rear end collision. This system is dangerous. I have shut it off but it always comes back on when the car is restarted.
Crack appeared in new car (6000 miles) windshield as we drove along highway.
Windshield cracked for no reason 5 months after getting car. I had to have entire windshield replaced.it occurred while it was sitting in driveway - noticed one morning as i drove vehicle that day crack spread and got larger
Windshield cracked for no reason
2019 subaru crosstrek left rear window ( driverā€™s side) window shattered without warning. There was a recall issued for this exact problem - but the time frame for the recall was narrow and my car was not included as it was just shy of the start date for the recall although manufactured in the same month. Subaruā€™s number for this recall is wug-92. The child car seat was covered in glass and shards of glass were embedded throughout the car. The fact that the car was parked with no one in it does not lessen the reality that this would have been a tragic incident for the child and anyone in the car or near the car especially if we had been driving on a highway. Subaru has been contacted and took all the information. I am documenting this for a warning to other crosstrek owners to be aware that this is known to happen without warning until subaru notifies them of this potential danger. Hopefully the recall will be expanded to avoid harm and injury.
I was driving down a road that is a 45mph road, and i dont hear a rock hit my windshield but i look down and notice i have a small crack starting at the very edge of my windshield, which then spread across my windshield rather quickly.
The windhshild of the subaru crosstek 2019 chipped with the tiniest of the stones that flung over from a different truck or vehicle passing by on the highway. We were also driving in exit lane and considerable slower than passing traffic. The stones was too small to cause a 12 inch line on the driver side.. I think there is a fargility problem or assembly problem in subaru crosstek that makes so many windshiled breaks/chips.
There was a very loud explosion and the glass sunroof exploded while i was driving. The explosion blew the glass outward so for a moment i thought someone had run into me. The dealer's service department showed no concern at all and just gave me a couple of business cards for glass repair companies. Ther was no effort at all to tryto understand what had happened
I purchased this aftermarket device on amazon in may. Not only does this device not work but i am concern of the inherent dangers of this product. I spent a fair amount of time on the phone with subaru of america who stated this type of device should not be used for both safety and warranty reasons. Subaru pointed this out to me in my owner's manual. We also discussed how this may be a safety issue for any vehicle as most vehicles warn againstspending time near the exhaust. Keep in mind that this product, bestauto air jack exhaust 3 ton inflatable car jack off-road exhaust air jack 4x4' uses a black rubber cone placed over the exhaust of a running car to inflate the balloon/jack device. One would have to continuously hold this black cone over the exhaust to maintain the seal. This means one would have their nose and mouth near the exhaust. Both as a customer and healthcare provider, i have public safety concerns about this product. I made these concerns to both amazon and bestauto in writing, 'dear bestauto, as requested, i have attached a picture of this item. It does not work. I separately emailed you a video showing the same thing, that this product does not work. Additionally, the manufacturer of my vehicle, subaru, stated nothing should be placed in the path of the exhaust. These are for safety reasons. I have also attached pictures of this. Thank you very much for your consideration.
2 significant windshield cracks in less than one year. Of owning this car. One was repairable.the second has resulted in the need for replacement, as a small chip extended to 7 inches within one week. No excessive speed or driving at close proximity at fault. First crack 3/8/19. Second incident 1/27/20- less than one year apart on a brand new vehicle.
Windshield cracked on drivers side.sitting at a gas station.pulled in car was fine, filled tank, got back in, crack was there.
Vehicle is 8 months old. Have experienced 2 cracked windshields within the last 2 months.
Windshield cracking. Was replace and cracked again.
If all doors are locked and i am inside the vehicle, i cannot open the door by pulling the door open lever. I have to open all doors which are electrically operated by a button on the door, and then open the door with the lever. I am worried that if the battery is dead or the door open switch is shorted in a flood, then i cannot get out by opening the door.
My windshield begin cracking from the lower left corner on the driver side without any cars or trucks anywhere around me to kick up the stone. There is now about a 10 inch crack going in a north easterly direction looking from the drivers side
I purchased a 2019 subaru crosstrek at the end of april. By the end of may, i had multiple chips in the windshield which the dealership brushed off as rock chips. I have never been hit by a rock in this vehicle and i had multiple chips and cracks. I had the chips filled in and a few weeks later a long crack appeared in the middle of my windshield on the inside only. Subaru is replacing it under warranty, but with the recent lawsuit over their defective windshields, i thought it best to report the incident.
On june 25, 2021 we had driven from seattle to spokane, wa and stopped at the sprague lake rest stop.when we returned to our car and sat in the car for about 15 minutes our car failed to start.the temperature outside was about 100 degrees.after 3 attempts by fellow travelers roadside assist and a tow driver our car failed to start so it was towed to the suburu dealer in spokane washington where a battery was replaced.the only reason that was given for the failure was that we sat in the car for a time before we started the car and the batter;y was drained because of the presence of the keys.our batter has failed on 3 other occasions.because we do occasional car trips we no longer feel safe in this car
Driving about 40 miles an hour, and it was quite a windy day and a small pebble hit the windshield and caused a small crack which quickly elongaged to about 36 inches
In june of 2020, my brand new 2019 subaru crosstrek caught fire while driving on the highway. The morning of the fire, it was confirmed via the app that all car systems were in check and no maintenance was required. While driving about 65mph, we could no longer accelerate. While pulling over, the dashboard lit up with icons. We then noticed smoke, then fire. This was about within a minute and a half times. The car remains burnt on the lot untouched and subaru has yet to do anything about it 3 months later. If there is a recall, it was very unsafe for subaru crosstrek drivers to be on the road.
While driving a 5 week old vehicle down a state highway, two lane, 55mph road, there was a small "tick" sound that was very insignificant.the passenger pointed out that there was now a chip and cracks in the windshield.the small sound, or object that hit the windshield was less significant than some bugs that hit on a daily basis.yet it chipped and cracked the 5 week old crosstrek windshield.there's no way this minor thing that touched the windshield should have left a mark let alone a chip and cracks.later in the same week, our outback that was purchased the same day brand new had the same issue, and it left a chip and crack.. From a very insignificant little something that barely hit the windshield.
I was driving and suddenly heard a loud thump. I looked around and behind me and didn't see anything or anyone around then i heard a crackling sound coming from my roof so i slightly opened my sunroof visor to spot broken glass so i closed the visor slowly in case any loose glass was present. I pulled over to look from the top and saw the entire sunroof was shattered. The glass looked as if it had 'exploded.'
After being parked outside in my drive way in tahoe city during a snowy night, my windshield cracked in several places. I noticed the damage in the morning after removing the snow and turning on my vehicle. I have been reading online that this is a known issue but subaru has not been recalling windshields. I confirmed with my subaru service center that this issue is not under waranty.
Vehicle has been stuttering from acceleration for awhile now. Noticeable more when going around 60mph when slowing down. It has done for about year off and on. Have taking to dealership few times stated nothing wrong first time. Second reset something worked for few days i thought but still does off and on. Feels like it doesn't get enough fuel.
Some time this car aceleracin more like put more full, i start to notice when i was driven in the specific speed and the car start to put more full and speed more than i was
When i turn on cruise control and set the desired speed the system on its own decides to accelerate to 90 or 100 mph. This occurs on the highway when i am travelling long distances. I dont know the exact sequence if its initially when i turn on the cruise control or when i want to resume and go a bit faster. This has occurred a couple of times and can't be recreated on demand. I took the car into subaru and they have no known recalls and found nothing wrong.
Occasionally, while accelerating, it feels as if the car loses acceleration and the engine loses power. It happens while vehicle is in motion slow speeds and fast speeds.
The contact owns a 2019 subaru crosstrek. While driving approximately 60 mph, the rear driver's side window detached without warning or an impact occurring. The contact called stateline subaru at 508-676-3071 (located at 1451 brayton point rd, somerset, ma 02725) and was informed to call the insurance company. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure by phone and email, but no one called back. The contact called again and was informed that they could not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000. *ln
The windshield developed a crack for an unknown reason.the vehicle was stationary.
Driving through kansas my windshield cracked, i thought due to the wind, and i had to file an insurance claim for it to be replaced, paying a $250 deductible on a $1022 bill.
A very small rock that was flung from another vehicle about 40-50 ahead of me, going 35 miles per hour on a straight away in town, hit my windshield resulting in a small star which within about 10 minutes turned into a large crack spanning from the lower passenger side upwards toward the middle of the windshield. I've had 3 repairs done on the windshield due to pebbles chipping the glass, and now will have to pay for an expensive replacement due to the thin glass and the eyesight safety cameras.
No known issue occurred, yet the windshield started a crack from the drivers side edge and rapidly moved across the windshield about 12 inches. During highway driving it may have caught a pebble (don't recall this happening but i've experienced this with other cars), but still that wouldn't explain the rapid cracking.
2 months after i purchased this vehicle i noticed a small crack in my windshield that has since started to become longer.no accidents or falling objects that could have created the crack.
The windshield has cracked without cause. Thankfully the windshield cracked while it was parked. Cracking all on its own without being hit or damaged is incredibly frightening and dangerous.
Front windshield cracked while driving on i-65. My speed was 75 mph.i did not hear anything hit the windshield.traffic was very light.
The front windshield cracked for no apparent reason; the vehicle was stationary when noticed and it appears this did not occur during travel.
I experienced a spontaneous windshield crack on my vehicle, it started in the upper darkened section of the windshield.
I was driving down highway 1 and my driver's right side window suddenly exploded and shattered into a thousand pieces, raining glass down all over me. I didn't have a crack previously and a rock didn't hit it so there was nothing to cause this. There were no other cars on the highway at the time. The car only has 13k miles so this should not happen, but i've since found out this is a known defect with newer subarus so they should fix this issue before someone gets really hurt.
The windshield is cracked with no visible chips or damage causing the crack. I have never had a rock fly and hit the windshield or anything. It seems to have cracked with no apparent reason.
Approximately 4 months after i purchased my vehicle i drove to work and didn't hear or see anything abnormal when i parked my car in the parking lot. Once i was leaving work my windshield had a small crack in the lower middle. I was told it would cost 1200 dollars and my extra coverage plan does not include windshields. When i washed my car, the crack expanded up the entire middle of the windshield. No force or extreme temperatures were experienced that could explain to me the unusual cracking.
I woke up one morning and when i went to my car that was parked in my driveway overnight i saw a crack in the windshield that was not there when i got home the night before.the crack looks like it starts where the de icer is located on the bottom of the passenger side.
After a few weeks and ~400 miles on my car, i was driving on the highway and something small hit my windshield. Nothing showed until a few hours later when a crack about 2 feet long showed. At the time i thought it was a little odd that something so small could have created such a large crack. Then i read an article online and found out a lot of other people had the same issue, so i wanted to share my info in case it supports a trend.i asked subaru what my options are and they told me it would cost $2500 to fix which i found absurd.
Appears my windshield cracked for no apparent reason unexpectedly while driving at 55mph. The cracked is about 18 inches long, extending from the passenger lower side all the way to the driver lower side. The windshield also appears to be defected as it gathers moisture, has poor road/wind noise blockage capabilities and cracks easily.
My windshield cracked unexpectedly for no apparent reason. The windshield also appears to let in moisture, wind, noise and is a distraction while driving at speeds higher than 50+mph. The windshield is cracked about 18 inches on the lower passenger side that extends to the driver lower side of the windshield.
On 1/18/2019, i was driving with my wife approximately 40mph with several car lengths between me and the next car when we heard a loud pop sound. We didn't see anything hit the car and saw no damage to the windshield at that time.several hours later a crack developed on the passenger side of the windshield starting below the windshield wiper.there was a small pit there, but the location seems unlikely for a rock strike as it appears protected by the hood. The pit is right at the edge of a heating element and this appears to me to be a heat expansion issue given the location and the fact that it happened in the first 10 minutes of driving.i have had the windshield repaired to stop the crack from spreading, but the damage can still be seen.the attached photos are before the repair.
Small chips and cracks in the windshield from tiny rocks hitting it while driving around 35 miles per hour on city streets and 70 miles per hour on highways. These cracks have happened multiple times from small rocks and debris.
Premature cracking of the windshield in the driver's field of vision. This happened while driving at highway speeds (65-70mph) on i-80, when the temperature was approximately 35f. Over the next two months, the crack lengthened from ~2in to over 12in.
Sustained very small stone chip below passenger side of windshield.this occurred while driving and also spread further while driving to about 50% of the way up the passenger side of the windshield. I have also experienced more stone chips and cracks as a result of this windshield situation.
My crosstrek has had the windshield replaced twice so far in 2019, both due to cracks that occurred during normal driving operation. Each time, the windshield had been crack free before the crack occurred. Both times, the windshield cracked while on the highway, although at different speeds (65 mph and 30 mph).
Windshield developed a crack overnight in the lower drivers side area. Vehicle has about 8k miles.
Rock hit my windshield on a highway. 2 hours later and long crack appeared- 8 inches
While driving a small rock hit the windshield causing a crack which has now traveled across the windshield.vehicle was driving at approx. 55 mph on the highway.
Drivers side windshield cracked for no apparent reason. Was driving on a straight away, with no cars in front or behind me, doing about 55mph.paid $240.00 to have replaced.i do not have photo.just credit card payment to glass company.
A small crack in the lower drivers side windshield appeared with no known reason. It has now spread larger. Only 2 drivers and both deny ever hearing a rock or reason for the windshield to crack. The car was parked in garage with no known crack and the next morning a crack appeared.
Bought a brand new 2019 subaru crosstrek, a crack at the bottom of the windshield just appeared one morning after warming it up in 20 degree weather, in michigan. Crack started in the wiper heating element area and the crack spread all the way to the top. No rock chips are present. The car is just over 3 months old, 1700 miles. I read elsewhere that the newer outbacks had the same issues. Does crosstrek have the same issues? subaru won't cover it. Total bs.
There's a crack that starts about an inch from the passenger side edge endingnear the rear view mirror. A small crack appeared on the edge the morning after a long trip and within the same day spread all the way to the center.
Windshield chipped and cracked 3 months into ownership. Crack across entire upper windshield overnight.
Been driving subarus for many years and have always loved them...until now. Got just over 11,300 miles on the car since i hardly drive it anymore due to the pandemic. While driving my first time out in weeks, a small pebble hit windshield on left side and the glass immediately cracked about 6" in length. By the time i got home it had traveled to about 9". This was a very small pebble that barely made a sound and that should have bounced off with no damage or at the very most, maybe left a chip but the cracked windshield should not have happened. The windshields are supposedly coated with a special something that deflects small rocks........yea, i don't think so! i see that there is a class action suit against subaru for this very thing. No one will fix it to stop the traveling crack, they all say it must be replaced due to the safety features of the vehicle/glass. Well the windshield replacement is super expensive because of the "eyesight" feature and the cameras. These cars are not cheap and i would expect higher quality from subaru. Very disappointed in the brand now.
The windshield cracked very easily from a small rock hitting it while we were driving on the highway. The crack then quickly increased in size before we replaced it. The same thing happened before and we have had to replace our windshield twice in one year.
The windshield on my subaru crosstrek which was purchased new from a dealer in july 2019 has already suffered 2 random chips in the windshield & today as i was driving the windshield split spontaneously with a 7 inch crack in a totally different area from previous repaired chips. This is ridiculous.
I woke up one morning and found my windshield cracked. It's literally above the defroster for the glass when its winter. It spread for no reason nothing was thrown and i was not in any accident for that to crack on it's own because it was cold. I live in queens, ny and we havent had any cold cold winters yet for that to have happened on it own. The vehicle was parked when i discovered the crack. I cant use the defogger because it will make the windshield crack even more!
Windshield cracked for no reason, creating a long crack halfway down my windshield. Vehicle was stationary, parked on side street. Mileage was around 9,000 miles. 2019 subaru crosstrek
Windshield cracked needing replacement after no noticable rock hitting it
While driving to work in the morning, my windshield all of a sudden craked.there were no vehicles around me so it wasn't a rock that hit my window, the crack on the window its about and one inch.i took the car to the subaru dealer and they said that crack was too big to be fix, we paid extra at the time of purchased for a package that would cover dings and window replacements and they are not following the promise.
Came outside 11/28/19 to the car parked in driveway and windshield was cracked from the base of it up 4 inches, and 90 degree angle turn into another 12 inch crack.
Vehicle windshield cracked for no apparent reason within first few months of ownership.crack is horizontal across entire windshield.i was not in the vehicle when it happened, but i think the vehicle was in motion when it occurred. I am estimating the date of occurrence, mph, and mileage as i did not note any of that.
While driving on an interstate, a crack formed on my windshield.it started precisely at the base and went upward cleanly about 4 inches.no objects hit the windshield, and there were no prior cracks.
Windshield cracked during cold weather.windshield seems to be defective.
Was driving on highway and small piece of debris or rock hit the front windshield causing a crack. This car has driven roughly 4300 miles. Seems as though the windshield cracks too easily.
I bought this car a little over a year ago. (bought june 2019 and currently september 2020). In january i was driving on the interstate and a heard a light "ting" on my windshield (i've had cars before this one, and i've never gotten a crack from something like that) and my windshield got a chip in it that in diameter was a little larger than a quarter. I got that fixed quickly after it happened. Then, 4 days ago i was driving on the interstate and this "ting" was a little louder. I didn't see any damage at first, but it was because it was behind my rearview mirror, and when i got out it was a crack about a foot long. I've been driving since i was 16 and i'm 23 now, and i've never had these things happen. To get two incidents in less than a year seems suspicious to me.
Windshield cracks easily and the cracks spread quickly.i've had 2 cracks so far on a 2019 vehicle from light pebble impact coming from the road.cost estimate to replace is very high as the vehicle has eyesight.subaru claims if you don't use the oem windshield eyesight may not work.over $1000 to replace??small crack happened first right after vehicle was purchased.had it "repaired" since it was not a safety or vision issue.new crack is right in line of sight on drivers side.
The windshield on the subject vehicle had an 8 inch crack suddenly form without having been struck or otherwise damaged in any way. The crack was at the bottom of the windshield towards the centerline of the vehicle. The vehicle was stationary at the time of the incident.
Windshield cracked from very top to center, no previous rock chips or other damage.
The windshield continuously accumulates small chips in the road-facing surface of the glass.some chips from large rocks are to be expected, but there are far, far more small chips than can be accounted for by large rocks hitting the glass.these chips appear to occur when something as small as grit from road sanding (during snow) hits the windshield.this causes a safety issue because the vehicle is equipped with eyesight technology.when sunlight or headlights catch these chips at certain angles, light is reflected towards the eyesight cameras.this causes the eyesight system to suddenly alert that an object may be in front of the vehicle.on at least one occasion, this light reflection occurred for a long enough duration that the car applied the brakes in an effort to stop.
Windshield cracked in cold weather while warming up. Driver side sun visor fell off as i was driving as well.
Small rock hit windshield and the windshield had a large rock chip due to this.seemed odd to have such a large rock chip with the small size of rock that hit.
Gave my car a car wash and noticed that there was a crack in my windshield. I didn't hit the car hard with the brush or anything. It just appeared out of nowhere...
While driving at approximately 65mph on the 55 freeway south, my windshield 'popped' and developed a chip, which looks as though it was hit by a rock, but it was not.the windshield has also developed myriad imperfections, which appear as water spots, but are not removable.at certain points in the day, depending on light, it gets difficult to see through the windshield, even immediately after cleaning it.
A few days ago i went out to my shop to get in my car to go to work and when i got in my car i noticed a giant crack in the window that is in the middle of the window down at the bottom and it starts under the wipers and is about 6 inches long. Then a few days went by and i was driving to work again on the high way in the rain and it cracked another 2 inches.
While driving on a wooded tree lined street at approx. 40mph, the right rear passenger window imploded.the glass shattered and fell onto my daughter who was in her car seat.glass pieces did cause minor scratch on her forearm.there was no impact to the widow.my daughter was just rolling it up at the time of the incident.we took vehicle to dealership and will be under investigation for the next 4-6 weeks.the vehicle at the time of incident, had approximately200 miles on the odometer.
Cracked windshield
Unknown crack on windshield from what seems to be nothing. The vehicle was parked overnight outside on my driveway.
I was driving my 2019 crosstrek on the highway on the way to work when i heard a loud cracking noise, which i realized came from a deep chip that appeared on the lower windshield. I assumed a vehicle ahead must have kicked up a rock, as there were no obvious vehicles or other objects that could have fallen on it anywhere nearby. I have since had the chip filled and am keeping an eye out to make sure it doesn't appear to spread any further.
A few days ago my new subaru crosstrek developed a spontaneous crack in the windshield. The crack started at the dashboard near the defroster and extended up almost to the roof. I had it repaired by safelight windshield specialists who agreed with me that there was no evidence of a rock or other damage to the windshield to explain the crack. After doing some research it appears this has been a problem with other subaru models and i think they should be recall these car to fix this dangerous problem. See below. Subaru of america was hit with a lawsuit last year claiming 2015-2016 subaru outback and legacy model's windshield were spontaneously breaking. Law360 reports this week a federal judge in california said the drivers have standing and adequately pled that subaru knew of the defects.u.s. District judge yvonne gonzalez rogers said lucia luong, a california woman, who claims her 2015 subaru outback developed a crack that had 'spontaneously appeared' at the base of the windshield, had sufficiently alleged claims on behalf of a proposed class of california drivers under a mix of state and federal consumer protection, unfair competition and warranty laws.luong isn't the only outback owner that has had windshield issues with the subaru outback. Her attorneys cited there have been 'hundreds of thousands' of complaints to the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa) by other outback owners reporting they also have had their windshields spontaneously crack.
Long cracking of the windshield after minimal trauma.there is excessive pitting of the glass for the age of the vehicle.specifically, a 6 inch crack in the windshield was induced by a pebble while cruising at 60 mph. I have never had a vehicle with so much windshield damage per mile of use. The car has 12,000 miles on it, and i've taken 5 other cars well above 100,000 miles each.
Windshield is very easily cracked or chipped from the smallest pebbles hitting it while going even 35 mph. With the adaptive cruise control, getting the windshield fixed and the sensors recalibrated could cost a fortune.
Very small rock hit windshield on the highway and caused a good sized chip. I understand that these windshields are under investigation for breaking too easily on this subaru model.
I was driving on the highway and a tiny rock my windshield which shouldnā€™t have caused the 12 inch crack in my windshield like it did, i have to have it replaced now.
Was sitting in my car waiting in a parking lot and i look out my windshield and a crack was happening right in frontof my eyes, i've only had the car for a week and had around 300 miles on it
Noticed windshield was cracked starting where the defroster lines are. Defroster was not being used that day though as it was 100 degrees that day. Don't recall it happening while i was driving. Noticed it after i got in the car to drive home from work.
Driving my 2019 subaru, crosstrek in the #1 lane westbound on the 118 freeway utilizing my eyesight drivers assist and cruise set at 65 mph, into my office on wednesday, march 11, 2020 @ 5:30 am. It was lightly raining and my windshield wipers were on. Prior to passing the tampa offramp, i thought i heard a "ping" on mywindshield. When i arrived at my office, i inspected my windshield and could not locate any damage. The rain continued all day and when i got into my car @ 2:30 pm, i saw that my windshield had cracked horizontally on the drivers side about 7" long, 6 inches from the bottom where the windshield is mounted. I checked with subaru about the gold extended warranty i purchased to see if it covered the replacement as well as inquire if my regular warranty would cover replacement since i have not had the car for even 2 years yet. I was told that the windshield was not covered and that i would need to purchase a new subaru windshield for about $950.00 plus the re-calibration charges of the eyesight cameras another $200.00. I find this unacceptable that a windshield would crack that easily and not be supported by subaru since the car is still relatively new. What are my rights regarding a windshield that should be protecting me and not crack by a tiny little rock determined very small since the sound was just a "ping"? please advise me of what i should do next regarding the replacement of this windshield. Thanks in advance.
Had a crack develop in front of the driver seemingly out of nowhere. Had safelite autoglass come out and repair it at $115 out of pocket.
The windshield cracked at the bottom center while sitting in the driveway.it is not from a rock hitting it.clean "line" 1 foot long. It is a brand new car.the dealership told me i have to pay for it.there are hundreds of reports on many websites describing the same exact problem
Small rock chipped front windshield and caused a 4 inch crack.
Vehicle was stationary, no wind just cold weather. Noticed a crack on passenger side of front windshield, starting below wiper. Car was not hit,no dents or any other defects.the car was purchased only 4mos ago and has 3,300 miles on it.
Cracked windshield. As i driving down highway around 65mph, small rock hit passenger side lower window under wiper blade. And cracked i had windshield replaced with aftermarket subaru windshield. This windshield has already scratched from the wiper blade which is brand new and has little few little chips in it. .
Windshield easily susceptible to rock chips compared to previous model crosstrek (2014) driving the same roads. Have received 2 rock chips in windshield less than 1 month apart from another while driving on suburban roads where speed limit is 55mph.
The contact owns a 2019 subaru crosstrek. The contact stated that the driver's side front windshield cracked without impact. The contact called gerald jones subaru (4022 washington rd, augusta, ga 30907, (706)760-4102) however, the vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted nor notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 14,428. The vin was invalid.
I purchased a brand new subaru crosstrex from the dealer on may 28th, and it arrived with less than 200 miles on it.on june 9th, never travelled on a highway and only driven on village streets surrounding my home, it encountered a chip/small crack.this was repaired immediately.i am noting that each brand new subaru vehicle purchased has had a chip/crack within weeks to months of purchase.prior to these two vehicles, i had purchased a subaru sedan, brand new from the factory, and in the 10 years i owned it, with 100k miles, it never had one chip nor crack on the windshield between the years 2006 to 2016.
One day in august, i went to my car parked in the garage and noticed a crack coming up from the bottom of the windshield. I have had nothing hit the windshield in several months and never in that area. On 3 separate occasions after that, as i took the car out of the garage, i noticed it lengthening horizontal by about 3 inches each time.
The windshield cracked from the bottom up, twice within 9 months. I bought the vehicle brand new.the first time, the dealer was nice enough to replace it for free.the second windshield has only been installed for about 4 months.picture attached is the second crack.first crack started on the passenger side seemingly out of nowhere.it was parked in a garage and i came out after work to a crack 4-6 inches long.
I boughtnew 2019 subaru outback 3 weeks ago and i see a crack developed from passenger side of the windshield in the center for no reason while the car was parked in the garage for more than 36 hours.i didn't experience anything hitting the windshield, and its spreading over 2 ft across the windshield. The car has 1,300 miles on it. This is clearly a defective windshield.
The contact owns a2019 subaru crosstreck. While driving at 65 mph, the windshield on the vehicle cracked underneath windshield wiper. The contact stated their windshield continued to crack. The contact took the vehicle to bob baker subaru, 5500 paseo del norte, carlsbad, ca 92008, where it was not diagnosed.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure with the vehicle. The failure mileage 6,200.
Small pebble from roadway (traveling about 30 mph) caused significant crack to propagate across windshield.
The inside of the windshield is icing over with frost when its cold outside
I purchased the vehicle brand new off of the dealer lot. I went outside one morning to replace the paper temporary license plate with the permanent license plate and a crack spanning from the bottom of the windshield on the passenger side in an l shape, up the middle, to the top of the winshield, approximately 45 inches long had appeared overnight without any damage to the vehicle occuring. I had the car less than one month brand new.
Entered my vehicle in the morning after it had been sitting in my driveway for a couple days to find a crack in the driver side of the windshield. Vehicle had been stationary for several days in a suburban neighborhood and was found in that state.
Driving on road when windshield hit by small rock (hardly made a noise when hit) and windshield cracked.purchased car april 2019 and crack happened late june, 2019.previously had a forrester and and several rocks which hit windshield very hard with no cracking.concluded windshield was poor quality or defective.
The front windshield of the vehicle has developed a large crack for apparently no reason. The crack appeared behind the rearview mirror and was approximately 6" across. Since then, the crack has extended to nearly a foot across.
The windshield had a small chip in it (not sure from what). Over the course of two days the chip had spread to cover half the windshield. I believe the chip happened while driving.
Front windshield near drivers side bottom portion defroster area (all the way down starting from behind black plastic cover) has developed a 7 inch crack ending for time being in a fish hook at top of crack. Dealer claims extremely small pin size strike point was cause. Also acknowledged that subaru windshields with eyesight camera system behind glass are extremely thin for eyesight to work properly. I will have to replace glass at my expense. I've been driving for 50 years and have never seen a pin size impact cause this much damage to a windshield. Faulty manufacturing process? also contacted subaru n. America and they stated that if a strike point was cause that they would not cover replacement.
Windshield cracks extremely easy! was on the freeway this morning and something small (i didn't even see anything) hit the windshield, wasn't even a loud thud, and the windshield instantly split 6" i have had prior big rocks hit other vehicles, with loud thuds, and just get tiny chip marks that weren't even fillable when i had them examined by a body shop!this sounded as light as a a bug hitting it.it should not have split that easily.this windshield is either thin, or made from some cheap material?for a suv rated as a off road vehicle, that is very dangerous, and they need to do something about it.
I purchased the car on 12/26/2018.i have two chips in the windshield, the first coming less than three months (less than 6,000 miles) after purchase and the last one on 10/9/2019.both occurred while driving the vehicle.the first, on a 2 lane state highway (nj-rt 70 w) traveling about 55 mph.the second was on rt 22 near lancaster, pa going about 35 mph.the first one has been repaired.the second chip will be repaired this week.both times i heard an object (probably debris/stone/etc) strike the windshield and within a few miles, noticed chips in the windshield that needed professional repair.i've owned at least 7 cars, and have never had experiences where the windshield would chip as frequently as this car.
Windshield cracked from dash area about 12'
Overnight, something fell on my vehicle and cracked the windshield.the crack travels a good third of the width of the vehicle.we think it is a manufacturing defect as the subaru was street-parked underneath a power line, and we didn't find anything substantial around the car that could have cracked it.
The windshield cracked seemingly at random during the winter. It was approximately 15 degrees on i-70 in co on december 11, 2020. The windshield suddenly cracked with no indication of impact. It was a 6 inch crack. The windshield appears prone to cracking as evidenced by 1000s of other consumer complaints.
While driving on the freeway at 60 mph, a small rock popped up and hit my windshield immediately causing an approximate one inch chip in the glass. Approximately 5 seconds later, the chip expanded to an almost 12 inch crack on the passenger side of the vehicle. A small rock should not have caused that much damaged to any windshield.
