The contact owned a 2019 subaru ascent. The contact stated while driving at 35 mph the contact crashed the vehicle with another vehicle head on. Upon impact no air bags were deployed and sos emergency did not work. 4 persons were injured in the impact which required medical attention. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to insurance lot, where it was diagnosed with being totaled. The manufacturer was informed of failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was not available. *dt*dtconsumer stated there was multiple failures.
Intermittently, approximately 50% of the time, a passenger sitting in the passenger seat does not trigger the air bag signal to "on".when this state occurs, it persists through the passenger exiting the vehicle and re-entering and through the car being turned off and then back on.however, the problem may go away hours later or the next day when we restart the car.we have not witnessed the air bag suddenly enabling mid-ride and we have never seen the air bag warning light displayed. The passenger is a full-sized woman.her clothing is typically dry and there is no cell phone on the seat.(we are aware that there have been reports that moisture and electronics can affect the sensor for the ods on subaru vehicles).we understand that there are current cases under investigation for similar problems in the subaru forester. This has been reported to our subaru dealer (michael's subaru of bellevue).we have brought the vehicle in for this four times in total, and it has stayed at their facility for a week twice.they have been unable to reproduce the problem. However, they will verify that on one of the visits the sensor was in the incorrect state (not enabled) when we brought in the vehicle and they read the code.they also saw that the passenger exiting and re-entering the vehicle did not enable the air bag, nor did turning the vehicle off and on again.
I was rear-ended really bad at 35+ speed of responsible party, while i was at full stop. Impact totaled my vehicle, but the airbag did not deploy. Subsequently, i hit a steering wheel with my forehead and suffered only a concussion, luckily.
Airbag sensor fault.
My battery has died on multiple occasions due to a large continuous indefinite power draw when the rear lift gate is open. The battery will die with just an hour or two of the liftgate being open. This has happened while packing the car and while camping.i bought this car because it, and subaru in general, are advertised as good for outdoor activity. Couldn't have been more wrong. It's a serious safety concern. This could leave a family stranded in the wilderness. I've been lucky to be with people that had more reliable outdoor vehicles to provide a jump. And now i know i can't trust my car to start so i won't be using it for extended outdoor trips.
Battery dead even though car has been in garage and driven at least 2-3x a week.happened a few times since the first incident happened in oct 2020, and then subsequently multiple times where we need it to be jumped start. Eventually took to dealership for diagnosis and they had to replace the battery in mar 2021.
We have had two batteries die since purchasing the car new in 2018.i saw an article about electric system failure in the ascent and it said to file a complaint.
The contact owns a 2019 subaru ascent. The contact stated that when the vehicle was idle the battery would drain without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle needed to be jump started or the battery replaced. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer walker's renton subaru (555 sw grady way, renton, wa 98057, (425) 226-2775) who were unable to identify the cause of the failure.the vehicle had not been repaired. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 7,300.
Driving normal, 30 mph on a flat road, when all dash lights lit up. Rab, break, check engine, every single dash light at the same time. We then lost power steering, and when we pulled over couldn't get the car into park. Eventually after fighting with it, car went into park. Attempted to restart it, and it did re-start but with the same lights on the dash. It was unable to be driven and had lost power in a potentially dangerous situation. Car was towed. Dealer has had it since then, now 01/21/20 and they know it's electrical, it has happened again while they drove it, but they cannot figure out what the problem is.
On 24th december vehicle in motion on a highway whining noise observed and transmission disengages, rpm increased. In a few seconds transmission error message flashed in console, in addition check engine light comes on and all driver aids disabled, struggled to take control and pull off highway safely. Vehicle 20 months old less than 20,000 miles. Second instance of transmission failing after wuv07 recall completed in january 2020. !st instance of transmission failure in city streets @35mph similar behavior transmission light, check engine light and drivers aids disabled, incorrectly diagnosed by master technician as valve body failureafter the wuv07 recall the fuel efficiency also dropped. A couple of days prior to 24th december contacted subaru of america about a shudder noticed observed while driving. Enclosed image has repairs related to transmission, in addition during the 2nd repair the starter also failed and starter was also replaced. In conclusion two unsafe transmission failures in motion after wuv07 recall.
Dead battery for no reason. Unable to jump start.
Even though i drive my 2019 ascent regularly, i had to jump start my battery twice last year within a space of 1 month. The dealer told me nothing was wrong. On march 28, 2021, having driven 500 miles from my home in ca to scottsdale az, my battery completely died and aaa told me have had issues with subaru batteries & i had to purchase a new one at a cost of $207. My suv bought in july 2019 has a little over 8,000 miles and when i contacted subaru, they basically blamed various things and suggested i take it to a dealer.
The subaru ascent will run down its battery requiring a jump start approximately once every six months. While long road-trips can top off the charge, this perpetual drain on the battery is shortening its life expectancy.
2019 ascent with 6000 miles garage kept sustained complete electrical failure at gas station refill.car drove and started normally going to station and after fillup failed to start.
The battery fails and cannot be recharged, it drains immediately. Also the airbags no longer work. We have had the car jump started by. Atow truck and then charged the battery at home with our own charger and it still dies immediately.
I was in traffic and the dash- started flashing and everything at once started shutting off and then brake was applied on its own. Very scary while in traffic- i have been waiting for a tow truck for over 3 hours. Dials: at oil temp flashes, all electronic things is all off and lit. Transmission and braking issues- all at once.city street braddock rd and i pulled off at kings park shopping center in front of wells fargo and cvs, stationary.
Has a defective electrical system causing the battery to drain prematurely. Just had the new subaru battery tested and charged at advance auto parts and it was brought up to almost a full charge. After 4 days of short trips, battery is dead again.
Battery drained rapidly while listening to the radio for 15 minutes with car engine not running (stationary). Car needed to be jumped.
Premature battery drain. Ive replaced the battery in my ascent 3 times in the past 2 years i've had the vehicle. First instance occured when taligate hadnt closed all the way and drianed battery. Second instance car doors were open for approx 2 hours to clean and detail my car when battery died. Third instance was listening to music in the car for 40 min while waiting for husband to go to store and i waited in the car and batter died yet again.
I already replaced the battery in less than 2 years and less than 25000 miles.i have noticed that the battery level is less than 12v when i don't use the car for around 5 days. To prevent the battery drain i've been charging it every week or less. I have also avoided using the trunk because it seems to drain the battery faster. Parking the car for a day and using the trunk several times does bring the battery level to less than 12v.
Car just doesnt start and needs to be jumped randomly, yet dealership service dept could find no probelms.also wierd lags, noises occuring while driving. This car is too new and has 18,000 miles on it, shouldnt be having these types of problems. Happened numerous times since purchase 2019 and 2020, most recent jan 2021 brought into dealership service larry miller subaru bosie id.
My new vehicle has experienced complete electrical malfunction while driving. Vehicle unexpectedly turns on all warnings and disabled all safety features to include collision and blindside monitors. As indicated by many other subaru owners, the problems were diagnosed by subaru to be related to a loose transmission harness. So far subaru has not issued a recall to inspect all 2019 and 2020 subaru ascent transmission assembly. We are super scare of driving the vehicle with the idea that it can stall in mid driving.
Battery frequently dies overnight. I'll get in the car the next morning to take my kids to school and go to work and battery is dead for no reason. No lights left on or doors open. Vehicle is stationary. This has happened at least 6 times over 2 years.
I bought the car in oct 2018. From that time until to end of 2019 i had a couple of cases of battery discharge that i did not take seriously thinking that it was me left lights on overnight or kind of. 12/29/2019 the car did not start at a grocery shop. I had to call uber for my family and spend 3 hours in the cold car in freezing temperature waiting for the roadside assist service. Eventually the car was towed to the dealership. They did not find anything wrong with the electrical system but changed the battery. After that i bought a jump starter that i had to use it many times during 2020. In oct 2020 when i found out that the battery was dead in the morning just another time i got the car to the dealership again. Thay tested everything and said that the car and the battery are ok. I find the situation unacceptable. It's not a minor. Just imagine that you can find yourself in the middle of nowhere with kids on board out of reach of cellular network in a dead car. If the temperature is freezing you are in a serious trouble. Recently i've found out that it's not my car only. A friend of mine owns outback 2017 that has a similar problem. The internet is full of stories about dead batteries in outbacks and assents. It's sad that subaru doesn't acknowledge the problem. They must investigate and open a recall to fix it.
We had a serious electrical malfunction of our new 2019 subaru ascent that happened on july 27,2019 at approximately 11 am.the vehicle was parked in our driveway in the sun.the temperature was approximately 95 degrees.we loaded our dogs in the rear of the subaru ascent in metal wire crates.we then closed the hatchback using the button and the motor functioned properly to close the hatchback completely.my wife then got into the driver seat of the vehicle and attempted to start the car with the pushbutton start. The starter clicked on and the engine turned over once but did not start.she then pressed the start button again with no response whatsoever from the vehicle.the dashboard warning lights started flashing randomly.the main lcd screen in the center console turned blank and then reappeared in the home screen. No other electrical systems were functional.specifically we could not open the rear hatch now as it is electrically motor driven and there is no way from the outside to mechanically open the hatch.this is a new 2019 subaru ascent that was purchased approximately 2 months prior and has only 1500 miles on it.my wife attempted to use the starlink help button inside the vehicle but that did not work.i disconnected the battery cables from the battery for a little over a minute and a half.i then tried reconnecting the battery cables and restarting the car but nothing worked.the car would not start even with jumper cables attached.none of the electrical systems were functional with the jumper cables attached.i had to obtain a bolt cutter and cut the crate apart to bring the animals out. I notified a my subaru dealer of this problem.they had us bring the car into their dealership on monday july 29.they stated they ran diagnostics and actually talked to the subaru support from corporate and could not find any defect in the vehicle. No fix was done
On numerous occasions (probably 12-18 times) over the last 18 months our new ascent will not start because of a dead battery.i have discussed this numerous times with the dealer, they have even performed tests on it but claim that it passes all tests so there is nothing they can do.no doors are being left open or lights on, yet every few weeks this problem occurs.my wife cannot take the car to the store without worrying about it not starting properly and having to get a jump from someone.
Wife was driving home from work approximately 09:10 pm(25901 riverwoods rd, mettawa, il 60045) no one was seriously injured in automobile fire i-94 1 mile south of route 176(exit 16(/rockland road).after no more than a minute on the interstate, i noticed some smoke and pulled immediately off to side of road as soon as possible (around 1.5-2.0 miles from work) and around 5 min into drive from departure from address listed above.was fortunate that officer m zawierowski was driving by and able to assist and called fire department. When officer stated went back to car noticed that car locked up all doors and stated how fortunate you (wife) were able to escape. The only warning was smell and smoke, minute later car was burning and within short time heat and smoke was severe that state police called fire department
The vehicle has had a dead battery on at least two occasions in the past year including this morning (12/04/2020), and the vehicle is still less than two years old, and only has approximately 10,000 miles.
Battery drains and unexpectedly. Happened twice while liftgate was up; happed 3x for no obvious reason.
55 degree sunny day in rural virginia. 2019 subaru ascent has 8214 miles. Drove ascent about 4 miles. Stopped to run quick errand. Two minutes later car would not start. Dash lights on, including check engine, battery. Power windows and rear hatch still worked. Called dealer-followed their instructions to try starting car in park, neutral, etc. They said it sounded like a battery problem, advised me to call subaru roadside assistance. Spouse came with battery charger. Charged battery for a few minutes and car started. Charged battery overnight. Searched online for subaru battery problems. Read that a class-action lawsuit was filed against subaru of america in 2020 relating to outback and ascent battery issues. These models are reportedly equipped with batteries that drain and die. Lawsuit contends that subaru has known about these battery problems since 2017, and has issued a technical service bulletin about battery discharging and dying after short trip driving.
Battery dies regularly - dealer has replaced the battery three times already. No lights are on, no clear reason why the battery slowly and consistently drains over time. The vehicle was stationary, but child and pet have been locked inside, and it has happened in remote locations. Also, with electrical parking brake, it can't be released for towing when the battery dies. Stranded in the woods with a kid trapped in the car and no means of jumping it is very dangerous.
Several times, when trying to close the driver side window, the front passenger window and the sunroof, the window did not close completely and subsequently re-opened.it happened when the vehicle was in motion as well as stationary.
Car died and would not start at one year old, diagnosed as faulty battery 11/2019; almost exactly one year later at md office would not start and lights flickered and no control, would not start again!; now sitting in parking lot waiting tow;believe fault is related to battery drain in one year and electrical drain; left stranded with two kids getting covid tested with a brand new 2 year old car with 20,000 miles only!!!!!!!
The car caught fire while sitting in the driveway (stationary). The car was having electrical/battery issues in the morning. I charged the battery, then started the car and left it running in the driveway, when i came out of the house, the engine of the car was on fire. I called the fire department to put the fire.the fire marshal determined that an electrical issue ignited the engine.after posting the photos of the fire on facebook, we received multiple comments that other people's subaru's have had battery/electrical issues.the insurance company stated that they would have a specialist examine the vehicle to help determine the cause of the fire.
Repeated (many times) failure of battery.stationery. Potential for being left without transportation in an isolated area.
After having my vehicle for less than two months and under 680 miles i had to continually jump start the battery in order to start the vehicle. I called my local dealership and was informed there was an electrical sync issue with the batteries in the new ascent. They replaced the battery and told me they fixed the sync issue.
After cleaning and detailing the inside of my 2019 ascent, the break pedal would only depress1/2 to 1 inch preventing the auto to start.auto roadside service jump started and said leaving doors open drained battery below 12v, preventing it from starting.said subaru batteries are way under powered and drain easily.
Our ascent has been dying since june, which was almost a year from the day we bought it brand new (first ascent sold by our dealer). It has lost total power about 7-8 times now and we've had it towed to our subaru dealer three times. The first time they said it was a defective battery and gave us a new battery. The second time the dealer person said there was no problem and blamed me for leaving one of the interior lights on overnight thus draining the battery. The third time they kept the car for about a week and after that they said it was some sort of a loose cable and that they had fixed the problem. Since then the car has died two more times. The first one when my husband was camping with the kids (which has happened before while camping because of the opening and closing of doors) but luckily he had a "jump starter kit" which we had acquired after few times after our car died. And, that i must add that it is a tool that should come with every ascent! the last time was today. Probably because the kids left one interior light on again. They keep claiming it's my fault for leaving the interior light on overnight, and that the subaru technology reporting system has nothing about this. Isn't this an absurd?unacceptable that a small little light can drain the entire battery power only overnight. I am not talking about headlights on overnight, it's only one interior light... And sometimes not even that, just the fact that we opened and closed the doors way too many times (eg while camping). This is very irritating and i think they should have this fixed.
Battery keeps dying.
I have had many many times that the battery on my new car has died if it has not been driven daily. I had the shop test the battery the last time it was in and they said there was no problem. The car battery has died at least 5 times since i purchased the vehicle new in july 2019. I have been made aware of a class action lawsuit regarding this issue. My car has died again this week. I am working from home and with the massive snow, i did not drive the car for a few days and now it is dead.
Air conditioner broke. One day it worked, the next day it didn't. Had to take it to subaru and they said some type of tubing slipped or broke. They fixed it and said it was a common occurrence there.
Electrical system has some sort of residual power draw when parked that completely drains the battery. Even when car is driven the day before, after being parked overnight has resulted in a dead battery 8-10 times. No lights left on or doors open (even rear lift gate is closed properly)
Our car is about a year old and the car battery has now died 3 times. It started when camping when opening and shutting the lift gate for unloading. We don't keep the back end open to prevent chipmunks getting into the car for food, so it was not left open and the lights drained it. We have had to purchase jumper cables and a battery charger so we don't get stranded again in the mountains or our driveway. We took it to the dealership and they said nothing was wrong with the battery and they saw no drain on it. Maybe they will come jump our car when we need it next.
In march of 2020, i took the car into the dealership due to the multiple times i had to charge the car, their answer was i wasnā€™t driving the car enough. They charged the battery and told me i needed to drive the car at least 20 minutes every couple of days at 50mph+ in order to keep the battery charged. In august of 2020 i had just loaded up the car to go on a vacation and when i went to leave the house the car would not start. After charging the battery for 30 minutes in the garage it then started.fast forward to june of 2021, i have had to charge the battery 4 more times in order for it to start. The last time was when we were leaving a campground in may, 2021, and the car wouldnā€™t start due to the battery. Fortunately the campground had a charger and got us back on the road.
If not started for several days it seems sluggish to start. A 10 day period this month of not starting resulted in inability to start. I called subaru starlink and was sent a tow truck driver to give me a "jump"., which worked. I was told by tow truck driver that the alternator seemed to be function---by the diagnostics on his battery jump starter. Then he reported he has had to jump numerous newer subaruvehicles. Later that day, with the vehicle parked in my garage, i briefly-- several minutes, a high pitched whine/electric like, coming from the passenger rear corner near wheel wheel wher the fuel intake is located. That sound stopped shortly later. I have started my subaru daily or every day to ensure it will start. I suspect some electrical item may be draining the battery--- which already seems undersized for all the newer electrical items in newer vehicles. Could tha fuel system be at fault? i had heard about a fuel pump recall/issue. I am not trusting this vehicle to start---as expected. This is a safety issue.
Battery has died at least 3-4 times since purchasing the car. Also ongoing issues with the radio- radio has stopped working completely before two instances when the radio died. Amplifier has been changed in car and serviced multiple times. Once while driving, the car died while driving it and steering locked.
After leaving the rear hatch open for an extended time while loading the car for a trip to florida, it failed to start. It also was not able to be jump start it with another car battery. It was finally towed to the dealer on 12/31/19 & they charged the battery & tested & reprogrammed it.since i was going away from home for an extended period, i didn't want to take a chance that the discharged battery would cause further problems, so i purchased a new battery & had it installed. As i understand from the service technician, a sensor on the tailgate did not shut off the cargo light when it was left open for the extended period, which discharged the battery to almost no energy remaining. This extremely low energy caused the battery not to be able to be jumped & forced it to be taken to the dealer to be charged. I understand that almost complete discharging of a battery significantly shortens its life & reliability. I believe that this model subaru has a designed defect in the electrical system that causes the battery to be almost completely discharged by having the tailgate open for the time it takes to pack the car. This belief is reinforced by checking the internet & learning that other people have had similar experiences & have complained about it to the car manufacturer. The car manufacturer needs to be forced to institute a recall & provide a software "patch" & whatever else needs to be modified or changed to prevent the battery from discharging in the future. If part of the original problem was that the oem battery was inappropriately sized, then they should also reimburse me for the new battery that was purchased.
My battery drains surprisingly quickly from simple activities like using the rear hatch door a few times between starts, having the front lights on for as little as 15 minutes between starts, and having the dome lights on for as little as 1 hour between starts.this has left me stranded multiple times including at a forest campground without cell coverage.i have used aaa assist multiple times, and the help of strangers.i have also had to purchase a jump start battery to keep in my car.i have asked subaru to fix the problem, and been told simply that my battery and electrical systems are working normally.
Have had to jump my battery start using a portable power supply at least 4 times.various reasons, such as leaving the back hatch open for extended periods, leaving the accessories on for a little over 15 minutes etc. At times it appears to struggle to start as though the battery has not fully charged. These incidents has been happening shortly after the vehicle was purchased. They are happening less to date because i'm aware that i cant use any accessory for an extended period because of the risk of a dead battery.
My car started to have battery issues either last year or early this year. The battery issues are getting worse. At the very beginning, the battery died after a couple of days not driving; which was shocking because it is a fairly new car. Today the battery died just overnight; i was driving to work yesterday and we were about to drive to hershey park today:( there already have been several times of roadside service for the jump start when the millage was less than 20000. I was told by the dealer that the battery drains due to the electronic design. He suggested i drive the car everyday just to charge the battery. Really!?
Almost 9500 miles, raining outside wife driving normal speed (highway driving) and eyesight stopped working and check engine light came on. Vehicle still ran. Secondly took to local subrau dealership for 10,000 service they found nothing wrong and did service. Wife left dealership and noticed car pulling to left after tires rotated. Returned to dealership , they said it was normal feathering of tires. Worried eyesight and engine can be affected with rain. Also at a few hundred more miles we now smell burning oil on and off outside of car. We have also experienced high revving motor with no foot on gas pedal.(stationary when smelling burnt oil smell and motor revving. Also once high revving while my 17 year old was city driving. Love to drive the car, hope it holds up!
The first experienced the issue when the lift gate was left open for a while the battery died before the battery died on the lift gate was left open and we couldn't open the liftgate and the only way to get the lift gate to open was the unhook the battery then after the lift gate was left over with while the battery completely died then from then on the battery continued to not be fully charged when to subaru they couldn't figure out the issue rep.
Have had electrical (radio/bluetooth) issues since 2 weeks after taking poccession. Been in for repair 4 times . No resolveloose steering is a big safety concern.while driving vehicle at an approx.speed of 65 mph in windy conditions on nov.3 2018 garden state pkwy the wind encapsulated the vehicle causing inability to control. Vehicle moved relentlessly side to side making a white knuckle experience. Side window lane departure lights were almost on constantly. Felt like the wind was lifting car from ground. Had to pull into 2 rest stops as stress of trying to control vehicle was unpredictable and stressful. As for electronic issues dealer replaced amplifiers and problem still persistsnew radio/phone unit ordered but not installed due to my filing lemon law
Vehicle will not start because battery is dead and requires a jump.this is the third time it has occurred. We have had to call starlink to come and jump the battery which resolved the issue on 1/25/21, 12/29/20 and 6/20/20. The vehicle was purchased new in may 2020.it is kept in a garage when not in use.
Our windshield cracked and we had to replace it not too long after purchasing. We have had problems with our heater locking and not being able to turn it off or our drunk locking and we cant open it we are unable to unlock it.... We put in several complaints about a grinding noise when we break since we bought the car. I noticed it when i first drove it and they told me it was normal. When the car takes off there is a shake and stall before it moves. Also when driving it feels like it jolts and then goes again also a complaint....
Premature battery failure. Twice since purchase, the battery has failed to start the car and had to be jump started. Both times the temperatures were moderate and the car had been driven at least 20 miles before being parked.
The battery drains repeatedly if you do not drive the car every day. Subaru claims there is no problem and just replaces that battery.
The battery is draining. This has happened multiple times. Most recently, the battery died when the car was not used for a 6 day period while i was out of town.
At only 17.6k miles, the battery in my 2019 subaru ascent was completely drained overnight, for no logical reason. I called subaru roadside assistance to give me a jump and i let it run for 33 minutes then took it for a 10 min drive. The battery was dead again the next morning. Vehicle was stationary overnight and until the 10 min drive. During this time the tailgate would persistently beep, trying to open.
At freeway speed, the brake makes noise and vibrate when you press the pedal lightly to reduce speed, this happens mostly when you go downhill.battery drains when parked inside the garage overnight, rear gate does not lock when closed.
We bought a used 2019 subaru ascent touring (ca. 18,000 miles) in july of this year. The dealership replaced the battery when we bought it. Since then, this new battery has died five times on us, the first time on september 4 2020 and most recently on november 28. It has always died while the vehicle was stationary. After it died the third time on november 22, we brought it into the local subaru dealership. They held the car for two nights and were unable find anything wrong with it. It is currently at the dealership again.
At 9119 miles on my vehicle i had to continually jump start the vehicle in order to start the engine. The dealership replaced the battery once for this same issue at 680 miles.
Came out to the car and found a completely dead battery after it having no warning of a low battery. Car was driven yesterday.
Rear hatch does not fully close occasionally.this is only noted by the hatch appearing open and the battery being completely drained and dead.on two occasions i have closed the hatch with the on-door button and came back to find the hatch slightly ajar and the battery completely dead.
Parked the car. The rear liftgate would not open with fob or from dashboard. Two quick beeps but no movement. We decided to just grab our items from the inside and left.when we returned to the car about an hour later, the car would unlock but the rear liftgate still didn't work. We loaded up the car and started the car but battery was dead.after charging up the battery, all the major safety car features have been disabled and the engine light is on with many other lights showing up. The car is drivable but obviously doesn't feel right or safe.i just called subaru to make an appointment. I explained the problem. They originally scheduled an appointment for 2 weeks later but i managed to get an appointment for next day. I'm concerned about the safety of the car especially with the number of other owners with electrical problems specifically related to the tailgate.
I have about 7000 miles and my battery has been dieing and needing a jump start. I took it to the dealer in april and no issues were reported by the dealership. The problem happened 2 days back and again i had to jumpstart and drove the vehicle for 5 minutes. But the car would again not start 30 minutes later and needed yet another jump start. I have a follow up appointment with the dealer and the battery problem seems to be common in many subarus as assessed by online forums.
Got into the car at home in the garage and the car would not start due to a dead battery. It was fortunate that the battery died at home. This could have been extremely stressful if this had occurred while we were out of town and not close to a subaru dealer. After subaru replaced the battery, it died again on april 4, 2020, also at home while the car was in the garage. At that time, the dealer simply recharged the battery and performed deep diagnostics which did not indicate any systemic electrical issue. I have attached a log of issues which point to other electrical system issues that subaru has acknowledged are known issues but subaru has not or will not fix the root electrical causes of these issues via a recall. This battery issue has been documented on other subaru models in prior years. Please be aware that the file i have attached is a log of all problems i have had with the car since purchasing it. Most of them are related to the electrical system (of which the battery is part of) so focus on those too if appropriate.
On ot about october 6th of 2019, vehicle(white 2019 subaru ascent touring) was parked in the garage and had been driven the day prior. Itfailed to start prior to a critical pediatric specialty appointment. Subaru sent a mechanic to jumpstart the car and the engine turned over. The apt was missed due to the delay. On or about mid-may of 2020 the vehicle failed to start after being parked in the garage. Attempts to charge the battery did not work. Subaru roadside assistance returned again and jump started the car. It was left to run for over an hour. The following day it would not start again.
My battery has drained twice in 2 months, to the extent that it needed to be jumpstarted.to the best of my knowledge nothing electrical was on. The car was parked.both times required seeking external help to drive away. When it first occurred, i had the battery checked by my dealer and they found no issues with the battery.to prepare for another dead battery, i purchased jumper cables so i wouldn't be stranded.the first time this happened it was at 12,000 mi; second time at 23,000 mi.
Let the tailgate open for 4 hours and the battery died. Use the car to travel with dogs.purpose of the car is to travel with dogs for field work. Cannot have it die or my dogs die without proper ventilation.
The battery in our car was dead after accidentally leaving the tailgate door open for about 3 hours. We didn't think that was enough to do it but jum started it and it was ok for a day but then wouldn't start regularly without leaving any doors open. We took it into subaru and ultimately had the batter changed even though they told us it wasn't the battery. The battery was dead again today when we went to use it. We maybe left the tailgate open for 30 minutes a few days ago unloading groceries. That seems a little extreme. The vehicle was stationary in our driveway but it happened at a parking garage before too leaving me to need to get a ride.
Car was shaking while idling/ shifting hard/ studdering while trying to shift and not shifting while going up an incline. The transmission was damaged from the slack in the cvt belt and now has to be completely replaced. Also the battery died. No doors were left open and no lights were left on. No reason to have a dead battery other than a large parasitic drain while the car is off.
I bought my 2019 ascent brand new in summer of 2018. I was driving yesterday and had my 3 yr old son with me. We stopped to get ice cream and sat in car to eat it. I turned car on enough to put windows down (no more than 3-4 minutes at most) and turned off. When i went to start car when finished ice cream about 10 min later my car wouldn't start and completely locked up. Couldn't even put in neutral or turn the wheel.i called aaa and the came and told my my battery health was only 30% and had a zero charge. He changed the battery for me and we were on our way but we were lucky to be in an area with help. Not always the case for phone reception in some areas. This car is not even 3 yrs old. Had it been summer it could have gotten extremely hot and very dangerous for my self and my son. It shouldn't have happened especially since we did nothing out of the ordinary. I have much less than 30,000 miles on the vehicle and it is well taken care of with regular maintenance and kept in an attached garage.
Several times our 2019 subaru ascent battery has drained down to low levels requiring jump starts. This last time was this winter and -15 degrees outside and was very dangerous for her. The alternator does not seem able to keep up with the load. I have heard of many other people having this problem. It sat overnight on both occasions.
Dead battery multiple times, dealer ship has replaced the battery but continues to have issues and left stranded each time this occurs, one time on 12-17-2020 in the mountains in freezing cold weather with a child, no heat because of dead battery. This issue cann occuring when the back tailgate is open for 10 minutes.subaru is not going to look into the problem even thou they are aware of this occuring on subaru outbacks and the ascent models. This is a real safety concern since my wife drives this car mainly and has had to call for help to get the car started.i will be bringing it back to the dealer once again.they will end up replacing the battery again but the fact that if your car is turned off and doors are open for a short period of time the draw coming off the battery is not enough to start the car again leaving you once again stranded.
The battery in my 2019 subaru ascent died twice while parked in my garage and we had to call aaa to jump start the car. After the second time i took the car to the dealer and they replaced the battery.the technician told me to lock the car even when itā’s in the garage so that the security system would stop excessive battery use.iā’ve read that other subaru owners have the same problem and that there seems to be an issue with the electrical system.this issue occurred approximately 2 years after i purchased the vehicle.if there is a problem with the electrical system i expect i will continue to have issues with the battery and next time the vehicle may be out of warranty and i will be required to pay for the repair myself.
Found my battery dead and my rear trunk door open.i had closed it and parked my car in my garage the evening of the 4th. I went to my garage today and discovered this. This is the second time this has occurred. After searching the web, i know that there is a problem with the electrical system that will cause the battery to go dead if the rear latch doesn't properly latch or the door is left open for a specified amount of time.this is very frustrating. Last time, i had to cancel a dr's appointment when i discovered it.today, i was just going to my garage for another purpose so didn't need to drive anywhere.
My barely 2-year car continues to have electrical issues. It refused to start for the 4th or 5th time over the last several months... Twice in the past week. One, particular instance from this past week, i drove about a mile to my local library to do curbside pickup. I turned off my car while i waited 2 minutes forthe librarians to deliver my books. I had my two small children in the car. My car would not start back up. I didn't see this as a problem as a few months ago i purchased a portable jump starter because i have been having so many issues with my fairly new car. Well, i couldn't access my jumper because it was in my trunk which can only be opened when the car has power. It, of course, was raining, sleeting and snowing while all this was happening and my children were screaming and crying. Thankfully, one of the librarians had noticed i was having a problem and was able to give me a jump. This is probably the 4th or 5th instance in the past 6 months. However, this is the first time when my car was started and then wouldn't restart. Usually the instance occurs in my driveway. Frustrated, i made an appointment at my local subaru dealership for the following day, (february 19) to see what the heck was going on, they said they did a diagnostic and came up with everything being normal. I went home and a few hours later my family and i decided to take a long weekend out of town. The car was packed, kids were in their carseats and my car would not start. Paying $50k+ for a car that won't even start is beyond frustrating. I know someone who has the same car and has been having the exact same issues. Please let me know if you have any advice for me or any suggestions of next steps i should take.
When trunk or doors are open more than an hour battery will drain to the point where the engine is unable to start. This has happened twice with my vehicle and i have heard reports from other ascent owners experiencing the same issue. From what i can tell the issue is caused by the door sensors remaining on as long as the door is open even if the engine and accessories are turned off. Vehicle was stationary both times it happened, parked in garage. All lights and other electronics were turned off, only door was left open.
I have required 6 jumpstarts in the last 7 months. The vehicle is two years old.
My 2019 ascentwas parked in garage overnight. Went out to car and found rear tailgate would not open and car would not start. Battery was dead. Jumpstarted car and drove it to the store. When i parked the car it went dead, car would not restart, and would not lock, tailgate would not open. Had to get roadside service to come out and start car. Took car to dealer and they said they could not find anything wrong but did replace the battery. Several weeks later while car was parked and locked in a store parking lot i came out and found the rear tailgate open. No one had pushed the remote to open the tailgate? today i found the car parked in the garage and the tailgate would not open, the car would not start, and the battery was dead again. I could find no reason for the battery to be dead again. The car had been driven normally around town for the last few days. It was parked in the garage. All the doors were shut and no lights had been left on. The car was purchased in june 2019and has less than 6000 miles on it plus this is a new battery. I am concerned about driving the car and being left on the road by a dead battery or coming out and finding the rear tailgate open in a parking lot.
Issue #1:transmission.starting around 8000 miles, a loud squealing sound would occur periodically during automatic shifting. At first it was only while obtaining highway speeds and later it would happen at city street speeds. The squealing sound would be accompanied by a shuttering feeling as well.we live 3 hours from the dealer and were told by the dealer that the car was just 'getting to know us'.as this problem persisted and worsened, we were finally brought it to the dealer at 12,000 miles and the technician diagnosed a transmission problem and said we need a new transmission.that was on 9/27/19.we are awaiting the availability of a new transmission while driving a loaner.issue #2:electrical issue.twice all of the engine warning/dashboard lights came on while driving about 20 mph on a dirt road.the first time was around 9800 miles.i was able to drive the car and brought the car to a local repair shop (subaru dealer is 150 miles away) and his computer diagnosed a possible transmission problem and he rebooted the electrical system.all seemed ok with the electrical system for a while. This happened again around 11,000 miles while being driven at city street speeds and the next morning the electrical system was back to normal.in talking to the subaru dealer by phone, they said there was probably just a bug in the system and it can fix itself.at the 12,000 mile appt, no issues were discovered with the electrical system.
Battery keeps going dead.i have had to jump this 10-month old car 4 times in the past month.i do not want to drive it as i may get stuck somewhere.the battery goes flat dead with no ability to remotely unlock the car, and no way to open the tailgate.
As my vehicle was parked on my driveways after maybe a day or two without driving it, my battery was dead. I jumped started it and it worked, but as they went by the battery kept dying. I decided to take it to the dealer. They said my battery tested bad and because the car only has 18k miles, it was still under warranty. Ok, so i went on with my day. A couple of weeks went by and the battery died again. Brand new battery. I took it back to the dealer and they tell me they couldnt do anything about it. To let it die again and tow it back to the dealer. So i did! a week after my brand new battery had tested 'good', it had to be towed back to the dealership. Today they called me stating a cell in the battery tested bad so they are going to replace it. How could that be possible? something is withdrawing charge off the battery and they cant figure it out. They are going to keep the car overnight to see if they notice any discharge from the battery. But com'on. I have gotten my transmission replaced at 5k miles, multiple tires have blown out on the highway, the fuel pump recall a couple of months ago and now this issue. Do not buy a subaru please!!!!
Every week or two the car fails to start.when the ignition button is pushed, the vehicle gains power but does not turnover and start.you need to exit the vehicle, lock the vehicle and unlock the vehicle and go through this process up to 7 times before the vehicle will start.vehicle has been brought back to subaru service department 3 separate times for up to 2 weeks at a time and they are unable to replicate or fix the problem.
Battery keeps going dead. Happens while stationary. Has happened 3 times for unknpwn reason. I checks fine.
The battery keeps dying when i have the tailgate (tg) opened for extended periods of time such as when dog training. The first time my battery died, i was the last person on the training grounds.i closed the tg and lights were flashing and beeping for a few minutes. The battery died and the tg was shut and wouldn't open. I panicked b/c i could not get my dogs out and i was alone in a vast wooded area.this is a terrible safety issue b/c if i did not have cell phone coverage that day, my dogs would've been trapped in the car without water and i would have had to walk a very long way to get help since the subaru roadside assistance will not work without cell coverage.in feb., i was dog training in areas of georgia where there is no cell phone coverage.three days in a row, my battery died.fortunately, another member of our group jump started the car.the local dealer in tallahassee was shocked to hear that leaving the tailgate open would drain the battery.subaru says this is how the car was designed.in addition to installing a new battery, they installed a battery disconnect switch, which i purchased to prevent my battery from dying.every time you flip the switch to cut the battery off, all the presets go back to default and have to be reset.and nowrandomly all the warning lights now come on and the eyesight system fails b/c supposedly the system is sensing a drop in voltage when the battery disconnect switch is being used.it seems to me that subaru didn't think this through given that they market to the outdoorsy type of person, dog owners and campers.they need some sort of fix to correct this safety issue to allow owners to turn off the power to the tg when needed so they are not left stranded when they are 'off the grid' as their commercials tout..
After 4 months of ownership, in april 19 the battery died while at a camping trip. Fellow campers tried to boost the battery to no avail. I had limited cell support.road side assistance came and towed the ascent to the dealership.they found high current drawn from the awd system but said that beside a completely dead battery everything was normal. They provide the same battery type. In march 2020 the car wouldn't start.contacted subaru roadside assistance, jumped the car.in june 2020 white getting ready for a camping trip, after packing the car, which involve leaving the rear hatch open and door constantly opens and closed the car wouldn't start.using a portable backup battery i was able to jump the car and go on my trip.while camping i kept the engine running while i was unloading thecar. Did he same when i loaded the car back.
Battery is dead frequently (1-2 times per week). This occurs after leaving one or more doors open (thus the interior lights are illuminated) for only 5-10 minutes. We are constantly having to jump start the car using a portable lithium ion battery that we purchased because of this issue. This has been occurring for over a year.
Multiple electrical issues. Now on second battery. Vehicle in driveway, tailgate opened for 30-45 minutes and battery died. Vehicle in driveway with radio on for 1 hour, battery died. Vehicle in driveway, not driven for 12 days and battery died. Each time battery died, unable to easily jumpstart. Each time battery died, tailgate unable to open even manually.
Vehicle started off with the radio not saving channels.it would reset the radio every few days. A message would come on the dashboard which would say the car will be restarted in a few hours. And a light not working. Took in and they said it was battery. Replaced.then got back. Within week or so.car had all lights coming on and off on dashboard.started jumping.even drove backwards when put in drive.took in and they replaced transmission.within the week after getting back, the car was skipping gears.another transmission.then back in for radio not shutting off when car off and locked. Would run for hours.also the trunk door would not lock. Took and they said it was a switch.radio again still resetting.radio will randomly shut off and then turn back on. The rear trunk will lock and then not unlock. Car is still driving rough.clearly the car has electrical issues.it is back in now.
The battery has repeatedly been drained to the point where the car will not start.the cause appears to be leaving the tailgate open with the engine off for an extended period of time, even if i turn off the small cargo light and some light ti avoid battery drain while the tailgate is open.this has happened at least 4 times and required me to jump start the car.the dealership replaced the battery after one of these incidents and told me the battery had been severely depleted, necessitating replacement.the most recent time this happened, after i jump started the car the check engine light stayed on as did all warning lights for the eyesight safety systems the x mode traction control system, and the eyesight system did not function.it has been fortunate that every time this has happened i've been at home where i could jump start the car.if this happens on a trip we would be stranded.
My car is 1.5 years old and the battery died in me and left me stranded. Car started after being jumped.i used my trickle charger and it is telling me that battery is bad. Car electrical system was acting strange and not turning off all systems when car was turned off. This probably drained battery.
Lift gate not working. Getting stuck close and draining the battery. At only 17000 miles we have had to replace the battery twice. When trying to start the car will make a vibration sound and all lights will come on but the lift gate is suspended close and the vehicle won't start. This has happened overnight. And when the battery is jumped and the vehicle will start, the lift gate will still not open.
The battery does not stay charged nor can i get it to charge above 80%.i store her in a garage.in the last two weeks, the battery has been dead (and required a jump) 3 times in 2 weeks.i get up and go into the garage to start the vehicle and the battery is just dead.i took it to the dealer to test the battery and was told that there is nothing wrong with it.my conclusion is that it must be an electrical problem.
I purchased vehicle in december 2018 for 2019 model. The original battery only lasts slightly over one year. It is common knowledge that battery of a new vehicle normally lasts for more than 5 years. Battery ran out in less than 14 months is very weird as i have only driven around 2,500 miles only. I am strongly believe that the battery is defective.
Keeping the rear gate open, or even just opening and closing the rear gate while the car is parked, drains the battery rapidly.this can leave drivers stranded in unsafe locations.based on discussions with other ascent owners, this problem is widespread.this began happening almost immediately after we bought the ascent and happens regularly and frequently.subaru of america appears to be in denial that this is a problem and there are lawyers gathering information on a class action lawsuit..
At 2 years and 5 months old (55k miles, mostly highway driven) the battery dies and i was stranded when i had stopped and parked.would not start anymore.had to jump start car and drive to dealership.subaru dealership (gillman subaru southwest, houston, tx) did a load test and determined battery is dead.would not replace battery.wanted to charge $500 to replace battery!!went to auto zone and had it replaced and installed for under $200!
We believe the battery is being drained by the can system because it is only 2 years old and is already completely dead leaving my vehicle inoperable and creating a potentially dangerous situation
Battery drained overnight with no lights or accessories on. This is the forth time this issue has occurred.
On 4 occassions the liftgate of this suv was left up for 45 minutes to 1.5 hours while the vehicle was turned off and stationary.on each time the battery discharged to a point the car would not start.fortunately we had cell service and could summond help, but this could occur where there is no cell service and leave us completely stranded.after the first 3 timnes which happened in rapid succession i took the subaru ascent to the dealer and was told the battery had a weak cell and they replaced it without charge.the repair invoice is attached. But they never told me that leaving the liftgate up more than 30 minutes would cause this problem and leave me stranded.then when the proble occurred again i went online and discovered this is a widely-known defect in the subaru ascent and other subaru models that has stranded thousands of owners. Owners take their suvs on camping or fishing trips and tailgating at events where they leave the liftgate up without realizing the car is unlikely to start when they want to leave.but subaru is refusing to consider a fix and recall these suvs. I have never heard of another vehicle with this defect or problem.many owners are spending $250 or more for after-market batteries that are much stronger than the weak batteries that subaru provides.while this does not correct the problem and such owners can still be stranded, at least with a stronger battery the chances it will start are much better.supposedly there is a class action lawsuit filed in new jersey against subaru over this issue, but that will only reward the attorneys involved with millions of dollars and probably net me $20 in 5 years.please consider forcing subaru to find a solution to this problem and recall and fix all subaru ascents still on the road.
Went to bjs to get food battery died 18k
I attempted to start my subaru ascent and it would not start. I contacted subaru's towing and they came and jumpstarted the car. The towing company informed me that subaru's ascent batteries are defective and that they have been forced to jump a number of them. I drove to work. The next morning, i woke to the same problem. I called subaru's towing service, and they came out again. I took the car to the dealership and they tested the battery, but the battery did not exhibit fail codes. Subaru would not replace the battery, despite the two failures. Since this time, i've had multiple battery failures and subaru continues to deny my request for replacement.
The battery drains all the time locking the rear hatch.you can not access the car from the rear.if dogs are crated in the rear they are stuck & this can be dangerous.i had to climb through the rear seat unhook several anchors that hold the crates down, try to maneuver one side ways so as to get the door to open to get the dog out.if it was hot out or an emergency, this could have been a serious issue.it took about 20 min. To get this done.there is no override on this particular vehicle.the dealer said its the way it is.until the battery gets jumped or charged, you can't get in the rear hatch.
Hatch left open over night, parked in garage. Next morning found battery was drained and unable to start engine.
My ascent has a little over 16,000 miles on it and was purchased feb. 2019. The battery died just sitting in my driveway after not being driven for 4 days. No lights were left on and tail gate was not open. Had to jump start it and take it to subaru. Battery was defective. Luckily this happened at home and not 2 days later when i was supposed to be driving to the airport for a flight.
The car battery keeps dying. The first battery died a little after a year. The second car battery died two months and few days later. I drive the car a few times a week. I've never had a different car die under the same driving conditions. When i jump start the car after the battery dies, the electronics in the car do not function properly. When i quickly steer the steering wheel, eyesight, power steering, and other various electronics rapidly turn on and off. This seems to indicate that the battery cannot be charged, and sufficiently power the vehicle, while the vehicle is running and causes unsafe driving conditions. After receiving the new battery, these issues were mitigated until the new battery died two months later and the same behavior is happening again. The first time i went to the dealership about this issue, they said the battery was faulty and replaced it with a new battery under warranty. I'm still waiting for my next service appointment to resolve this issue.
After having driven the ascent for 30 minutes or more, turned off vehicle for about 15 minutes.after rendering the vehicle it would not start.the first time this happened, coasted vehicle down slight grade to side of road, and after a few minutes it started again.the second time it happened, it would not start after several attempts.contacted subaru thoughit's starlink program.they told me to hold keyless starter button for 30 seconds, then try to start again.after doing this the car started.
Unable to start my subaru ascent 2019due to battery issue, facing this issue2nd time. I was able to start my vehicle 3 days ago and vehicle stationary for 3 days in garage and try to starttoday it did not startstart againit makes little bit crank soundand then no response from engine and halted and my dashboarddisplayed everything, tryed multiple times no luck for me.
The vehicle only had 6,228 miles on the odometer and the battery died. It was purchased in april 2019 and battery died in july 2020.
I have a 2019 subaru ascent. On july 2, my husband was driving on a rural road when out of nowhere the car started vibrating and rattling and his speed went from 60 mph down to 30 mph in a matter of seconds and the car started flashing information on the dash. And the car shut off. He got off the road and called aaa. It was an hour and a half before they got there. Nothing and nobody was around and he had to beg the tow truck driver to let him and our elderly dog ride to the nearest subaru dealership which was about 50 miles away. I was already at the beach at emerald isle nc and had to go pick him up at parkway subaru in jacksonville nc. This was on july 2,2020. Today, july 11, we still don't have my car back. I am thankful that parkway dealership loaned us a car to get back to raleigh where we live and bout our car, at southern states subaru. Parkway has told us various things that could be the problem. For for several days they had to guess as the subaru headquarters it was 'down'. As of now parkway still has my car and i have their loaner subaru outback. This was a very dangerous situation and could have caused a crashed as well as left my 65 year old husband and dog stranded on the side of a very rural road. This is totally unacceptable and what i thought was a very reliable subaru ascent has greatly disappointed. Please help!!
The contact owns a 2019 subaru ascent. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked inside of the garage, the vehicle failed to start. The contact asked her son to jump start the vehicle. The contac's son jumped the battery and the vehicle resume normal operation. The contact stated that the failure occurred twice prior to the vehicle being diagnosed at white bear subaru. The contact started the vehicle and drove to white bear subaru (3505 highway 61 n, vadnais heights, mn 55110) where the vehicle was diagnosed and it was determined that the battery was defective. The battery was replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.
When holding speed constant between approximately 20-35 mph, or under very light acceleration in this range, vehicle seems to jerk, surge, pulse, or similar. It feels similar to being in the car with someone learning to drive a manual transmission.
Raw gas smell when vehicle is at idle or after being driven for a bit and parked in the garage.the smell comes thru the vents and fills the garage after i park the vehicle.gas mileage is also being effected it seems, and is low.
My wife and i purchased a new subaru ascent in february of last year.since then intermittently there is a large blue/gray cloud of smoke that comes from the exhaust when the car is started.have taken the car to the local dealer for repair 4 times and they replaced a part the first time but since then said that they are not able to replicate the problem.according to the assistant service manager at the dealer they have seen this problem before and subaru america is also aware but have said "(that there is no fix for this problem)".at the second and third visits they had said "(they were going to change a part in the car but then decided not to because the representative from subaru of america said it would not help)". The service reports for these visits only state that they are not able to replicate the problem.the dealer then said that any solutions would have to come from subaru of america.according to subaru of america they have not seen this problem before and they offer no remedy.from what i have learned this problem seems to be known to subaru.i know of one person that states his "engine blew" ([email protected]) after he had his car evaluated by subaru, after many months they agreed to replace his engine.here are some comments from others experiencing this problemhttps://www.ascentforums.com/threads/new-ascent-unexpected-blue-smoke-from-exhaust-at-start-up-and-acceleration.8920/here's a link to videos of my car:https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ftde39f4rsz3v5e/aacljxfuchhfbrab-jksefhia?dl=0as well as a link to a youtube thread with others stating a new engine was needed.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8cn3d4ejici believe this problem might pose an imminent risk to any drivers of this vehicle and would welcome any help encouraging subaru to take this matter seriously.thanks
My fuel pump was replaced (according to the dealer) based on the most recent recall. However now it idles and runs rough just a short time after this service. I recently read there is another lawsuit or issue with this fuel pump and the symptoms are the same.
Within my first two weeks (200-300 miles) of owning the vehicle i was told by stevens creek subaru that the car was not safe to drive and here we are again. Another failed strut. So by deduction, it's unsafe to drive but that hasn't stopped subaru from putting me back in it, fully aware that the strut has failed verified at 20,000 miles but problem started 12,000 miles ago. In motion this is a problem everywhere. Safety issue. Subaru is not making me drive for almost a month with a failed strut, waiting on parts.let's talk about brakes next... So they replaced the front pads with "special" brakes, hand delivered from japan. Why? what are these "special" pads and how are they different? i really want to know what's different about these? are they softer? will they wear out faster? i'm not honestly thrilled that they resurfaced the rotors. Again... Brand new car... Brand new rotors... Now they have extra "wear" as a result of the bad brakes from the factory and they will wear out faster. Would have preferred them to be replaced. This only adds additional out of warranty costs to me in the end. Especially if the new pads also wear quicker. Safetywe just blindly applied the ecu firmware upgrade with no pre-drive test to verify the problem. Which was why the car was left overnight in the first place initially. So we have no documentation of the issue just that we flashed the firmware. From my tests the past two mornings it seems better and possibly resolved but again, this should have been properly documented and tested and was not. The surging engine condition / transmission gear ratio hunting problem was never verified by the dealer. They blindly flashed the firmware and also didn't road test after the fact. There also still an undiagnosed transmission problem. Additionally there's many more things wrong with my car but your form limits me to three at a time.
Dark gray-blue smoke from the exhaust on start-up, lasting for several minutes.large plumes with strong noxious odor. Smoke and fumes have triggered several severe asthma attacks.noted on most days, since vehicle was purchased new in april 2019.fuel efficiency is far lower than the 21-27 mpg claimed by subaru.actual average is 14 mpg.
All warning lights came on last week may 5th 2021 while i was drivingthecarhone after dropping my daughtertoschool. I pulled over and called the dealership and was advise to take the car in. As i drove the engine started to lag and icouldnotdrive more than 45miles. Took the car to the dealership and found out the transmission was bad. This car is 2 1/2 years old and i've had so many problems with it. When the cvt was replaced the car never run the same, i've taken it to the dealership several times and let them know that there is something wrong with the car. It lags and hesitate duribg acceleration. Unfortunately they could not replicate the issue and that it was normal. Then this happen. I have reported the issue to subaru of america.
The contact owns a 2019 subaru ascent. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 10 mph, there was an abnormal noise and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted and functioned as intended. The vehicle was taken to napleton subaru dealer (505 n perryville rd, rockford, il 61107 (877) 403-5984) on several occasions and was diagnosed that the overhead unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was also taken to be diagnosed at jamesville subaru dealer (3519 ryan rd, janesville, wi 53545 (608) 743-9595) where they diagnosed that the stabilizer bar needed lubrication. It was unknown if the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and two case numbers were opened under 144125212915 and 1-459841535478. The failure mileage was 3,801.
Unknown. Electrical failures including eyesight, the dealers lie about the work they do, the latest was recent - they said sludge was everywhere which causes the timing to be off and said the entire engine needed to be replaced but refused to do so. I do not trust they were honest about the spot welds, as my vin and contract were mysteriously changed after i took delivery. Battery dies, amp dies, head unit stops functioning for months at a time. Eyesight slams on brakes at last minute. I am told itā€™s normal to shut up and leave. For example the last time i took it in less than 30 days ago they said they changed the filters as well. They did not. According to them they owe me a new engine. I have starlink and documents oil is changed by subaru yet they claimed they had no record, and it is my fault so i need to replace engine.
The contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign numbers: 19v856000 (engine and engine cooling) and 19v855000 (power train). The contact stated that the gps unit was inoperable. Furthermore, while at a stop sign/light, the vehicle would accelerate when the brake pedal was depressed and there was an abnormal clunking, squeaking noise detected from the steering/suspension. Also, while driving various speeds, the vehicle shuddered and shook forward and backwards, and the driver and passenger doors made an abnormal buzzing noise. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to puente hills subaru (17801 e gale ave, city of industry, ca 91748, (626) 626-4800) multiple times and the contact was informed that the vehicle was working as designed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: sr#:1-50458273772. The failure mileage was 1,000.
Huge plumes of smoke on startup. Complained to the service department on multiple occasions and even left the car with the dealer service department. They said they could not duplicate my complaint. They said i should take pictures.can't take pictures when it happens three or four times a month. I think there is something wrong with the engine am afraid of fire or failure of the engine.
Car shakes when it is not in motion. When the car is stopped on the road, or brakes are engaged the car will violently shake. When the car engine is starting the check engine like flashes.
Vehicle blows out white smoke upon start up, this is a hit and miss problem. This is after the vehicle has been parked over night, but has occurred after parked for a couple of hours, it has been sent to the dealer several times
Fresh fuel smell from the vehicle (entering the cabin while driving and upon parking). Upon arriving home yesterday, the smell was still very strong. I went a step further and pulled the oil dipstick to check the level and to see if that's where it was originating from. Sure enough, that is where i am smelling it. I went so far as to wipe off the dipstick and check once again with the same result. I also noted that the oil level is well above the high mark. My main concern is the risk for damage to the engine given that it appears that fuel is mixing in with the oil.
On friday, june 28th, we were driving the ascent, towing our 4100 lb. Camper from tehachapi, ca, headed north toward las vegas. When we stopped for gas in tehachapi, we checked all fluids including the oil. Then at about 86 miles outside of las vegas coming up a steep grade in hot conditions, we hear a noise that sounded like it could be valve flutter. We drove for another minute (there was no shoulder), and noted that no warning lights were on. Then we heard a louder knocking sound and saw the oil temp indicator start moving quickly to hot, and immediately pulled off onto the shoulder. After our tow to the las vegas subaru dealer, it became apparent that the battery was also dead (this was the second battery replaced under warranty, and we have had to jump both batteries at least monthly over the last 2 years). Last monday, june 14, subaru notified us by phone on a recorded line that the investigation had concluded. They determined towing excessive weight to be the cause of the engine failure (thrown rod). We verified the make and model and registration of our camper with subaru, which at a dry weight of 4134 pounds, is 100 lbs. Less than the airstream used in subaru's promotional materials. We disclosed to subaru that the camper has few miles on it and we tow with empty tanks and less than 100 pounds of cargo (2 adults and one toddler). We also told them that on our two prior trips towing, the transmission has revved frequently and it sounds like it can't find the right gear. Subaru has not provided us a copy of either inspection report, and we have been without the vehicle for nearly a month. We are asking subaru to repair the engine under warranty (39k miles).this sudden failure put our family's safety at risk. We were forced to stop the car in the middle of a high-speed highway without safely moving to an exit- we waited in excessive heat, barely off the road in deep sand without a shoulder for an hour- we were almost hit by a semi truck as we braked.
The car will emit white heavy smoke on start.the white smoke smells like burned plastic/oil.the issue was reported to subaru corporate and vehicle was taken to service for inspection. A video was recorded and sent to both dealer and corporate but issue could not be replicated. The issue still persists for more than 3 months and subaru could not resolve it.this is a concern to my family safety and to the environment. Second issue was with spring assembly both front and back has to be replaced as defective.
The engine keeps stuttering when driving and slowing down to stop at a traffic light. Couple of times, it should shut down and i have to restart the car. I do ensure the car is warmed up to a minimum of 7-10 minutes before starting. It only started recently but i am worried that this will happen more and suddenly stop when driving and me getting involved in an accident.
Driving on freeway check engine came online suddenly. Eyesight turned off.car became unstable, could not go past 60 mph. Kids in freking out. Very unsafe.took to dealership. They could not figure out. I did online research and followed these forumshttps://www.ascentforums.com/forum/137-subaru-ascent-complaints-issues-problems/1981-check-engine-light-11.htmlapparently early subaru models had 2 bolts missing in the engine airtight compartment. Atleast 2 other people have complained. I have driven so many miles subaru as not issued a tsb and a recall. I was planning to take legal action as this a unsafe thing to do. Please please please look into this. I hope you could ensure accountability and honesty w/ subaru. I am extremely frustrated. Did subaru deliberately hid this from consumers? please check this forum thread againhttps://www.ascentforums.com/forum/137-subaru-ascent-complaints-issues-problems/1981-check-engine-light-11.html
Check engine light - diagnosis ' vehicle loses power after rapid acceleration above 45mph. A whooshing sound occurs and then acceleration is limited. All warning lights flash including 'check engine.' this has occurred once about a month ago and diagnosed as a poorly replaced gas cap'although it was actually on securely. It occurred 2 weeks later 3 more times within two days. I brought it in with the lights on and issue still occurring to subaru pacific. They cleared codes and tried to recreate issue without success. They released the car back to me after corporate deferred to them.upon driving out of dealership, the same thing happened only after acceleration above 18 mph'all warning lights back on and sputtering/jerking/loss of power.whooshing sound.dealer is in possession of the car again to look into it.also, there tends to be a grey-blue hue to the exhaust each time car starts.
At 16462 miles on odometer, while driving on hi way at 65 mph vehicle lost power and started smoking severely from the tail pipes. Pulled over and shut off. Restarted several minutes later continued to smoke and would not move. Towed to dealer, they stated the pcv valve broke apart, subaru wants them to tear down the engine to see how much damage was done. Still waiting for them to do anything, car is sitting outside in the service area not being worked on.
Driving from tehachapi, ca toward las vegas towing our camper at about 45-50 mph, we started hearing a knocking that sounded like valve flutter. We drove for about 1 minute looking for a safe place to pull over, but then the knocking grew louder and the oil temp started to rise, so we immediately braked and pulled into the sand (no shoulder). There were no warning lights at any point until we actually pulled over (oil light). After the tow to subaru las vegas, we noted that the battery was dead. On 6-14, subaru of america told us on a recorded line that the two investigations had concluded and the cause was towing excessive weight. We shared our camper registration and specs with them, showing a dry weight of 4130 pounds, 100 less than the airstream used in subaru's marketing materials (we tow with empty tanks and less than 100 lbs. Of cargo. We also indicated to subaru of las vegas and soa that on our few previous trips with the camper, we noticed the ascent revving hard on slight inclines and that it sounded like it struggled to find a gear towing. Soa has not shared a copy of either report. We are asking sof to repair under the warranty (car has 39k miles). We will asked for the defective engine whenever we are able to pick up the vehicle.we spent over $1000 between towing, flights home from vegas, renting a substitute vehicle, etc.. Most importantly, this sudden catastrophic failure could have killed us-the failure was so swift (the time from hearing the noise to being stationary was less than a minute and a half) and without warning that we didn't have time to react well and had to pull off into deep sand with no shoulder- a semi truck almost rear-ended us as we pulled over. Then we had to wait in the mojave heat, arm's length away from traffic whizzing by with my toddler and puppy while the tow truck arrived. The ascent is the vehicle we purchased to be able to evacuate our family from our wildfire-prone home, so every day we are without it poses risk.
We took possession of this vehicle october 2019, brand new order.ever since we have had this vehicle we have questioned several dealers regarding the headlights placement.when you drive on non lit roads you can only see about 6 feet in front of you.anyone walking on the side of the road, an animal, broken down vehicle, the street you are suppose to turn on; you do not see until you are right on top of the object.we have been driving with the high beams on in order to see what is ahead of us. The low beams engaged seem to have a wall about 6 feet out that you can not see beyond that area.we were told that the headlights are aimed properly and there is nothing that they can or will do about it.when driving in a lighted area it is not as bad; when driving down back unlit roads with traffic coming at you or traffic in front of you the headlights are terrible. We live in a rural area with very little street lighting and i am really concerned about hitting something because the headlight do not illuminate enough to see objects in the road. We asked our sales person about the headlights and he went out and tested our concern, he told us to say something to the maintenance department when we brought the car in for its first inspection.we were told there was nothing they could do about the headlights. I have asked at the next dealer and was told the same thing.i am at a loss on how to correct this.
The contact owns a 2019 subaru ascent. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle began to jerk violently to the point where the tires screeched across the road. There were no warning indicators illuminated. When the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle independently accelerated rapidly into the distance. In addition, the contact stated that the brakes and steering wheel seized after minimal pressure was applied to the brake pedal in an attempt to stop the vehicle. Furthermore, the contact stated that there was a rumbling vibration underneath the brake pedal while the vehicle was in motion. The contact was able to coast the vehicle to a nearby gas station and contacted roadside assistance. The vehicle was towed to carr subaru (11635 southwest canyon rd, beaverton, oregon 97006, (503) 672-3370) where it was diagnosed that the eyesight assist safety feature malfunctioned. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided the contact with case number: 1-34973274988. The failure mileage was 700.
Windshield cracked within a few days of driving it off the lot. I was just driving it and i noticed a small crack...and then within a few days the crack went the entire length of the windshield.
Purchased a new 2019 subaru ascent in february 2019.after having it home a few days noticed a chip with a small crack in the windshield on the bottom drivers side corner near the blacked out area, which i did not see when i took the car.called the dealership and brought the car in to show them. They said there was nothing they could do and i would have to pay for a new windshield.a month later i wrote a letter to the owner of the dealership and never received a response or acknowledgment of my letter. A year later the small crack turned into a very large crack and ultimately i had to replace the windshield in march, 2020, and pay the deductible on my insurance policy.

The contact owns a 2019 subaru ascent. While driving 14 mph in a parking lot, the contact attempted to engage the eyesight pre-collision braking system; however, it failed and the vehicle crashed into a pole. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed. There were no injuries. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The cause of the failure was not determined. The failure mileage was 5,400.

Gasoline vapors in cabin and around car. After the vehicle has been parked, gasoline vapors are accumulating around car.we experience strong gasoline vapors in our enclosed garage after driving (appearing 10-15 minutes after turning car off). Also, after driving for even a short period of time, then turning the car off, then starting again, gasoline vapors enter the cabin through the vents (if non-recirculating).dealer confirmed we gasoline mixed with our motor oil (dealer changed the oil, but didn't correct the problem). While this is alarming enough, the smell continues. The smell of gasoline in the cabin and my home garage is not health/safety risk for my family breathing in, but since subaru doesn't know a cause, could it be a risk for a fire. My family shouldn't be driving in a brand new car that is introducing gasoline vapors under normal operation.others on message boards are complaining of similar issues which could point to a bigger problem. Thank you!
When the car idles for even short periods of time (5 minutes) the inside of the car will start to smell like fumes (exhaust type smell). This happens in any environment (parking lot, our driveway, rural area) when the car is in park and still running. Rarely have i smelled the fumes upon starting the car, although it has happened before. The problem has occurred in every season and with the car blowing out warm, neutral, and air conditioned air. This was noticed very shortly after purchasing the car in september of 2018. I have taken the car in to the subaru dealership three times and they haven't been able to find the issue. The first time they were able to detect the smell but found no problem to correct. The other two times they said they weren't able to replicate the smell even after leaving it on for an hour. I can elicit the smell every time if i let it run for a few minutes while parked. Others appear to be having this issue as well and are being told the same thing by their dealerships. I am very concerned about this issue as my children may be affected when they are in the car.
The contact owns a 2019 subaru ascent. The contact stated that there was an abnormal fuel odor in the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to (paul miller subaru 3469 us-46, parsippany-troy hills, nj 07054 (973) 402-1700), to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that there was a leak in the fuel vapor canister. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that a representative would be sent to inspect the vehicle which was still pending. The failure mileage was 4,000.
Traveling on highway at 70 mph when a deer jumped in front of our car and we hit it with the front end of the vehicle crushing the front end.all air bags immediately deployed and the front end began smoking profusely.within minutes of getting out of the vehicle it burst into flames and the entire vehicle burned up.concerned that these vehicles will burst into flames during a front end collision at high speeds.

Hi issue #1: my subaru never gives the mpg what they promised,on average i get 17 or 18 mpg mixed drive supposed to get 21mpg, whenever i complain to the dealership they give a standard answer about it depends on driving style never attempted to find the root cause. Never had this issue with my previous cars, i used to get the same as what they promised. So i feel not related to driving style. Issue #2: blue smoke came multiple times, so not consistent reproducing not sure. Issue #3. My battery died many times couple of times had called roadside, later i got a jump starter and i have used it multiple times to start my car,and replaced the new battery under warranty and subaru paid for it, but unfortunately, the new battery i got had also died and got it replaced by warranty.

When driving in low speeds, the car is very jumpy and seemingly inconsistent with the amount of fuel delivered to the pedal.the car seems like it will almost stall out, then i have to push the gas pedal further down to deliver more gas, but then it makes me go to fast and jumps.
My fuel pump was replaced (according to the dealer) based on the most recent recall. However now it idles and runs rough just a short time after this service. I recently read there is another lawsuit or issue with this fuel pump and the symptoms are the same.
Raw gas smell when vehicle is at idle or after being driven for a bit and parked in the garage.the smell comes thru the vents and fills the garage after i park the vehicle.gas mileage is also being effected it seems, and is low.
The tailpipe exhaust smells strongly like gasoline. The fumes will also come through the cabin vents if air circulation is turned off.
The parking/emergency brake lever was accidently activated while traveling at highway speed of 70mph. The lever is in a bad location and close to where cell phone is charged, cup holders are and transmission shift lever. Cell phone charge cable caught on lever and locked up rear brakes at 70mph. Almost resulted in loss of life and crash!
It suddenly loses power while driving and all of sudden it gets power and jumps.this happens almost 2 or 3 days in a week.it happens in city street.
We took our 2019 ascent in because we were hearing some weird noises coming from the front end roughly 5000 miles.upon further inspection the subaru dealership informed us that there was an issue with the steering rack. They asked us to allow them to order a new steering rack and they would call us and setup an appointment to change out the rack. On saturday the aug 17th we went on a drive with a technician to show him what we were feeling in the transmission. He drove it for probably 15 to 20 minutes, several different speeds.he too noticed some weird shift points. Also could hear the front end. We left it there and called them today (19th) to find out that it isn't the steering rack. It's the coil springs hitting something causing them to chip. The technician stated, we will get with them on a new updated part and you can probably come in and swap out cars until we get the parts in. Meaning, give back service vehicle for ours. I told him at that point that i have no issues with them keeping it to reassure it's safe for our family to be in. He said ok i appreciate it i'll be calling you tomorrow. They also said that they did a torque converter dial in and that the transmission should be back to normal. Hopefully all is well and it does in fact fix the weird shifting and hesitation at all speeds. Accelerating and decelerating.
The subaru ascent was purchased august 2018 (about 7 months ago) and the car currently has about 14,000 miles. The cvt transmission began slipping around march 16th, 2019, causing intermittent vibration and loss of power when accelerating. This would occur at both low and high speeds, and would occur more frequently after the car had been driven for about 15 minutes. At highway speeds, the car would struggle intermittently to maintain speed. Initially the problem was sporadic, but with every day grew more frequent.after being taken to dealership to be evaluated, the dealer reported that while the technician was test driving the vehicle, complete failure of the transmission occurred and the car was no longer drivable. The dealer has ordered a new transmission to replace this failed one.total time from onset of problem to transmission failure is about 2 weeks with regular daily driving.
When driving our ascent on both city streets and the highway we have experienced rpms jumping and squeaking/slipping noises coming from the engine unexpectedly. Its very disheartening to have issues with a brand new car that you've spend over $40k on.i have been able to capture some video of the control panel as this happens.
Purchased the ascent new, have had the vehicle in multiple times with transmission complaints only to have "updates done", transmission recently went completely out while turning across traffic in front of oncoming traffic, vehicle towed to closest dealership, transmission replaced, drove less than 30 miles, car still hesitating while trying to switch gears around 40mph and whining noise (same as initial 3 complaints prior to transmission going out completely).went to closest dealership related to concern of driving on freeway for safety, was told transmission needed 2 updates (as previously told prior to transmission going out).now 5th visit while still under factory warranty but will only warranty new transmission for 1 year.vehicle also had a recall on cvt transmission/chain slip.car is a safety hazard for myself and others on freeway yet i continue to be sent home with "cvt updates and a continued whining noise" even after this led to transmission failure completely previously.be very cautious when purchasing a subaru, issues started on car around feb. 2020 or 30,000 miles, transmission completely out at 50,000
The contact owns a 2019 subaru ascent. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, the vehicle would independently shift out of the drive position. As a result, there was a loud knocking and screeching noise coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that after shifting back into the drive position, the accelerator pedal would apply on its own causing the contact to depress the brake pedal in order to control the speed of the vehicle. The contact managed to make it to their destination safely. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer who diagnosed that a software update was needed. The vehicle was repaired however the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 6991.
The contact owns a 2019 subaru ascent. While driving 70-80 mph, the vehicle jerked forward and the transmission started to slip. The vehicle was taken to dch subaru of riverside (located at 8069 indiana ave, riverside, ca 92504, (951) 428-2314) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code or duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 5,200. The vin was not available.
Within 5000 miles transmission jump, rear gear not work and the rab light, dealer told me he must replace! i find a lot of story on website, people have same issue and same amount of mileage
Cvt appears to be faulty.while driving, rpms will jump up by 1-2k, stay at that level for a second or two, then drop down.when it drops, car will shudder or accelerate.occassionally a screeching or grinding noise is heard.this has happened multiple times, but is not predictable.it has happened on the highway at speeds if 65 and above; and it has happened on city roads at speeds of 30.it sometimes happens multiple times in one trip; or it may go a week between events.dealership has been unable to replicate it, says if they can't replicate it then the "best case scenario" for a diagnosis is for the transmission to fail and for us to be stranded.a internet search for "subaru ascent transmission problems" reveals that this is a rare problem, but seems to disproportionately affect ascents built in august of 2018.subaru allegedly is replacing these transmissions once problem is diagnosed, but if it's a known problem then they should replace them all proactively.
When trying to accelerate around a truck on a highway, the car refused, felt like it was going to stall and every light on the dashboard lit up. My speed was probably around 60mph, when i tried to quickly get around this truck. It was full of furniture that i felt was loaded in an unsafe manner. This is the second time the car has done this and the cvt chain slip was supposedly fixed in a recalln december. This time subaru said it was a leaky gasket in the inter cooler??
When driving car at different speeds, the car loses power, rpm increase and decrease significantly accompanied by a screeching sound. The vehicle has about 15k miles and has happened four times within a three week period.
The contact owns a 2019 subaru ascent.
We are noticing periodic issues with the cvt in this new car.occasionally we get a high-pitched whine, a sound like a belt slipping, a loss of power, and a sudden bump when the cvt seems to adjust to the situation and return power and normal driving.internet is full of people reporting the issue.took it to the dealer and got the usual deer-in-headlights response.they have a serious issue here.most recent event i recorded was on 8/28 11;00 amish on i-5 north out of tacoma to seatac, driving at highway speeds.
In low speed when wanting increase speed, the engine loses power and briefly sputters and then recovers and accelerates.usually happens when trying to accelerate when going up hill and from slow, right turns.usually at highway speed, it can quickly accelerate.
Currently my car is being repaired at subaru dealership had issues with vibration they are seeing if it's a transmission problem apparently there was a recall with the 2019 subaru ascent i never received one but i am having transmission issues and they are looking into what the deal is i'm just wondering why i never got a recall this is dangerous god for bid my car or to slow down or stop when i'm driving i don't understand why i never got the notice
When holding speed constant between approximately 20-35 mph, or under very light acceleration in this range, vehicle seems to jerk, surge, pulse, or similar. It feels similar to being in the car with someone learning to drive a manual transmission.
Vehicle has continued to make squealing noise and shuddering since previous transmission recall was addressed. This has occurred at speeds from 10-75 mph. It happens multiple times per week, sometimes multiple times each day. Vehicle run time has ranged from approximately 5 minutes to 2+ hours. Vehicle has been checked multiple times by the dealership where it was purchased, who reports that nothing is wrong with it. I have a video of this, but it cannot be uploaded.
Our ascent started having a squeal and rpm jump around 6000 miles. The car would only makes this noise on acceleration and would cause the car to lock up until the chain/belt would reseat and the rpm return to normal. It throws no warning codes but happens randomly but several times when it does happen. Was told it was a transmission issue, but subaru has replaced some and they are doing same thing. They told me to drive it like it is and service department was to file a claim with subaru to try to get them to initiate a fix from the subaru engineers. Totally not safe to drive at 65-70 and then it stalls out before it fixes itself.
Brake failure on new car
This started with only 6k miles on 2019 ascent, the brakes ride extremely rough.braking does are not as effective as they should be.this makes braking, give the car a bumpy ride as it decelerates and the driver an uneasy feeling.
At freeway speed, the brake makes noise and vibrate when you press the pedal lightly to reduce speed, this happens mostly when you go downhill.battery drains when parked inside the garage overnight, rear gate does not lock when closed.
Brakes made loud noise even when driving off the lot.told it was a new car and it will subside.the noise did not subside. It grew louder.took car to subaru dealer where they told me the rotors would need to,be cut!on a new car with under 900 miles!took it home and the noise was less but grew louder as the week went on.brought the car back to subaru and they indicated they would replace the rotors and the brake pads.of course, they didn't mention it would take over a week and a half to get the parts.noise was when braking whether stationary or moving.another issue is when my cell phone rings, the radio starts blasting!i almost ran off the road.this happened twice and the dealership can't seem to replicate the issue.they told me they had not had to resolve both the brakes and radio issue with anyone else in their dealership.i find this hard to believe, unless they did not sell many ascents.i am also worried about the electrical and transmission problems i keep hearing people complain about.
At 6700 miles, the brakes are rough and gives the car a very bumpy ride.
At about 13,000 miles the vehicle showed symptoms of warped front rotors. They were machined smooth. At 21,000 miles the symptoms returned and this time they front rotors and brake pads were replaced. The vehicle now has 32,000 miles and is presenting with the same symptoms. The symptoms are: shaking when braking and anoticeably delayed stopping time.
In a matter of 3 weeks, the ascent came to a complete stop in the middle of the road with no objects in view of the car on 2 different occasions. The anti-collision braking system initiated from approximately 35 mph to a complete stop, thinking the fog was an object. This is extremely unsafe as the vehicle can stop at anytime, in the fog. If there was traffic on the road, we would have been rear ended. Dealership could not replicate problem, will be contacting subaru directly next. Mileage is approximately 8,500.
I purchased the subaru ascent 2019 in september of 2018. Recently while traveling at highway speeds and applying the brakes a strong vibration resulted while braking. I took the car to the subaru dealer and was told the rotors needed to be turned. The car only has 14,000 miles and the brakes are already failing.
The collision avoidance system is incorrectly identifying parked cars or cars exiting the freeway in an adjacent lane as obstacles and slams on the brakes. This is happened on the interstate at highway speeds and at speeds as low as 30 mph while traveling on a city street. I'm terrified that i am going to be rear ended when my vehicle goes from 70 to zero mph when there is absolutely nothing in front of me but the 'safety equipment' is malfunctioning.i have been telling the dealership about it for several months with minimal response.
The contact owns a 2019 subaru ascent. While driving at an unknown speed, the brake warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. After turning off and restarting the vehicle, the indicator disappeared and the vehicle operated normally. The cause of the failure was not determined. Kocourek subaru (2600 n. 20th ave, wausau, wi) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,300. The vin was unknown.
2019 subaru ascent. Consumer writes in regards to brake failure. *ld
The brakes squeal, like metal to metal.this does not happen all the time.the rotors were replace at about 13,000 miles.i was told by the tech at the dealership the rotors need replaced again.i was told this is not a safety issue but when applying the breaks it seems i need more pressure that before.i think may be safety issue.
Brakes shook violently at highway speed and while descending mountain. Took to dealer and they said this is a known issue. Had to replace brakes and rotors on all 4 wheels. Ascent had only 7600 miles. Vehicle needs to be recalled and retrofitted with new brakes/rotors that can handle the demands/weight of the ascent.
A couple of months ago, my wife started the car and backed off a parking lot. When she pressed the brake and felt wired - the brake could not be pressed down and felt like it's jammed somehow. The car did not stop even she switched the car to parking! it eventually stopped after hit a parked car behind. Because the speed was very low so there was no obvious damage to both cars. But after restarted the car, all the warning lights went on - rab, eye sight, at oil temp, low tire pressure, and the sun roof and sun shade not working.

I had brakes replaced in december 2020 with 50,000 miles on the car. For the last few weeks, i have noticed wobbling/pulsing when i press on the brake. Suspicious that it was the rotors, i had the mechanic who was doing my 60,000 mile service check the rotors. He let me know that the rotors aren't even close to being warped. I called subaru of america who in turn told me that this was a "new" problem with a "new" limited availability part that just came out in the past two weeks. Both subaru of america and the subaru dealership i deal with say this is under normal wear and tear and they will not replace it under warranty. I understand that brakes are wear and tear, but i already replaced my brakes and paid for those out of pocket. It is not my fault that there is an issue with the manufacturing of replacement brakes to where the car has this problem. Since it is the braking system, it could obviously be a safety issue. They want me to pay out of pocket for this brake pad kit (to the tune of $200+ after labor) when all i did was replace the brakes with what they came up with. If that part is wrong, subaru needs to take care of it.

While driving at highway speed the steering wheel will jerk slightly one direction or the other for what i am assuming are small imperfections in the road.now that i've had this vehicle for 6 weeks, i have found that this happens frequently at highway speeds
I have the same steering trouble's as the complaint filed on mar. 03/19. I was told at the dealership that the lane assist has some steering control. (computer steering me) they also showed me how to turn lane assist off. I did notice the difference in control. Now a few weeks into driving with the lane control off, the car has returned to correcting itself and constantly tells driver that this system has been turned off. Has subaru made a boeing mistake?
The hood of the car popped up twice when driving into a head wind on the highway.it suddenly pops up an inch or two as if it is about to open.this happened on our first trip on the interstate.i took it in - the dealer could find nothing wrong - and adjusted the bumpers.the next trip driving 65 into a cross wind it popped up again.we had to stop both times to close the hood and were relieved it did not come all the way up.i wonder if the latch is not sufficient for the design to handle a strong wind.the consumer requested to withdraw complaint stating that the latch did not come undone. The hood of the vehicle flexed up afetr being blown by strong wind.
When the vehicle is stopped with the parking brake set, the rear doors can not be open from the rear door handle.the child proof lock is not set.you have to press the unlock button on the front doors so the rear pax can exit.to me this is a safety issue because in an emergency when everyone needs to exit quickly, one has to remember to unlock the doors from the front door unlock switch to let the rear pax out.subaru tells me that it's normal, and i think it should not be normal. This problem happens all the time.the doors lock automatically once the vehicle starts moving.i put todays date as when this happens since there is no "all the time".
My windshield was hit by some soft, small debris and cracked. I learned that this is an issue with a lot of owners therefore wanted to file a complaint. While it happene

Clunking noise in front right wheel area, going slow over sharp bumps or moderate speed over rippled pavement. Sometimes multiple chunks over a series of bumps. Turning at low speed seems to make it more susceptible.
I parked my car at work with nobody around me and nothing above the car. When i got out of work isat inthe cari noticed a crack on the windshield approximately half a foot. I drove it that morning and absolutely sure it was not there.i looked around where i parked if there is anything that could possibly hit it and there was nothing, none on the ground or on the vehicle. The windshield just spontaneously cracked even the vehicle is stationary how much more if something hit the windshield on a highway. I also had to replace the tires in about a year of use, i never had to replace my tires that so early on a brand new vehiclle.
In june 2020, the front window cracked while i was driving even though i did not observe any rocks or other road debris hit the windshield. The crack has not spread further since that date.
1st replacement: replaced factory windshield (7/27/19) due to crack from top right to the middle of the glass. 2nd replacement: on the highway on ramp at <55 mph, a pebble hit on the drivers side towards the bottom of the oem (7/27/19) replacement windshield and a substantial chip (immediate spider crack) resulted. In process of having the chip filled, a 12" crack formed that spread towards the exterior edge and interior of the windshield. Replaced windshield on 3/5/20 (second windshield replacement in less than 8 months). Still concerned about reliability and integrity of the oem/factory windshields that are installed on the subaru ascent.
Windshield cracked from a small rock while driving on a highway6 months after purchase
Moon roof cracked. Car was parked away from trees etc. Roof was in tack when parked. Vehicle was not in motion. When i returned to my vehicle 2 hours later it had a huge crack extending from back to front of window. It was a warm sunny day, but not excessively hot.
The car was in the usual parking space when i go to work. No hazard or debris that might hit the car/ windshield but today when i get off from work, my windshield has a 30' linear crack, extending from the passenger side up to the middle of the windshield. There is no mark that the windshield is hit by a stone or debris or hit by something hard. I don't know what happen or how it got a crack. It might be possible that the windshield was crack by the direct heat of the sun? maybe the windshield is defective on it's own after certain time. Our subaru ascent was purchased almost 23 months ago with 30k mileage.
My windshield was hit by some soft, small debris and cracked. I learned that this is an issue with a lot of owners therefore wanted to file a complaint. While it happene
Windshield crack appeared for no appearant reason
Have had to jump my battery start using a portable power supply at least 4 times.various reasons, such as leaving the back hatch open for extended periods, leaving the accessories on for a little over 15 minutes etc. At times it appears to struggle to start as though the battery has not fully charged. These incidents has been happening shortly after the vehicle was purchased. They are happening less to date because i'm aware that i cant use any accessory for an extended period because of the risk of a dead battery.
Hairline crack on windshield. Unknown how and when it started. Noticed when i entered the car in evening.
The windshield cracked while driving in the freeway.
Small crack in windshield has spread across entire windshield rapidly.we do not recall when the small crack occurred but the crack spread across the entire windshield in roughly two weeks time.
When accelerating the car lurches and hesitates, there is also a low growling noise from the right side. This happens most often at low speeds, in neighborhood driving, under 30 miles hour.the car has already had a new transmission as we were told this would resolve the issue. Almost immediately the issue continued and was back at the dealership. The official diagnosis from the dealership is we do not know what the issue is and we cannot fix it. Please drive as normal. This issue has bene ongoing with the car for months.
Windshield easily cracked < had to get repair in !st 6mos w/ car, has sealed crack deep chip in middle of windsheild.
Rear tailgate won't open when button pressed maybe half the time.it has closed twice in the last week while groceries were being loaded and hit two people in the head.subaru dealer has replaced the controlling module but it did not solve the problem. This problem has persisted for a year.
Battery has died at least 3-4 times since purchasing the car. Also ongoing issues with the radio- radio has stopped working completely before two instances when the radio died. Amplifier has been changed in car and serviced multiple times. Once while driving, the car died while driving it and steering locked.
Suspected impact from a small pebble while driving on highway. This resulted in a small chip on the upper right corner of the passenger side within the top 1/2" of the glass. Afforded no time to schedule a fix with a glass company. Within less than 24 hours, crack spread to the edge and from upper right corner down to the middle of the windshield (over 2 foot long) crack. The crack appears to be only on the surface of the glass. With prior vehicles, a small chip did not result in a quick to develop crack. Concerned about quality and durability of subaru glass.
Windshield cracked by itself while driving down a road at 45mph.stereo system defective.stereo has been replaced 3 times already
My windshield and front passenger window are both cracked on my ascent. They both need to be replaced. This is the 2nd crack and windshield replacement on our ascent. The 1st replacement was in january 2019, just six months after purchase.
Battery died while parked with no other lights etc left on
Had two chips in the windshield, one cracked and had to replace windshield. 24 hrs later had another chip and another within a couple of weeks. I only drive on the freeway once per week and don't drive much because i work from home. I used to drive 60 miles on the freeway every day for school and work when i owned a subura impreza (2007) and outback (2014) and never once had a chip in those 5 years until i purchased ascent. I expressed my concerns and was told by the dealership that the new subarus use a thinner glass due to the new eye sight feature and you do not get the option to purchase a thicker glass windshield.
We are hearing a thumping or knocking noise in the front right wheel well area. We notice this noise when the car is in motion on a rough road while driving, turning, or braking. The dealership we purchased our car from checked all running gear parts under the car, and steering components, to see if there were any visible problems. After a test drive by mechanic and another service department employee, they could hear the noise, but we're unable to find its source. We are wondering if any other owners of a 2019 ascent have experienced a similar problem?
Dead battery without warning.the car has only $11,100 miles on it. I had to call roadside service for a jump and go to the nearest place and buy a new battery. This occurred on a sunday. The vehicle was stationary in my garage. I have an extended warranty and all maintenance and recalls have been done at a dealership in a timely manner. I had no indication that there was a battery problem.
2019 ascent with 6000 miles garage kept sustained complete electrical failure at gas station refill.car drove and started normally going to station and after fillup failed to start.
The car emits gas, petrol fumes in the cabin via the vents.the car has been brouhgt back tho the shop several times and they have not been able to repair this.have taken a gas sensor to the vents and the gas sensor proves that gas/petrol fumes are being released into the cabin and can potential cause affixation. Note this happens when the car is stationary or driving
When holding speed constant between approximately 20-35 mph, or under very light acceleration in this range, vehicle seems to jerk, surge, pulse, or similar. It feels similar to being in the car with someone learning to drive a manual transmission.
My vehicle has always been garage kept. Approximately 1 month ago, i went to get in my vehicle and noticed the windshield had a crack (approximately 6') in the passenger side. I contacted my insurance company who advised me i could either pay the deductible ($750.00) or better yet contact subaru, as they've had numerous complaints on subaru windshields cracking for no apparent reason. I applied windshield repair to prevent further cracking, to no avail. Two days later, the crack spread over to the driver's side. Subaru's response was for me to bring it to my local subaru dealer. When i went to the subaru dealer they informed me that because i had 51,000 miles on my vehicle, subaru would not replace the windshield and provided me with a quote of over $1,300.00. As i am retired, my vehicle is only driven locally.
Was driving approx 40 mph when i heard a small bang. At first i thought i kicked up a small stone. 30 seconds later a crack developed in front of the front seat passenger. At first it was only about 6 inches long. An hour later it was close to 18 inches
Windshield cracked for no reason and quickly spread over 12 inches and now effects the eye sight system.
We are now on our third windshield replacement. Since owning this vehicle - we have had the windshield crack for no apparent reason. It is extremely fragile. I have owned numerous cars and have never seen anything like this! year ago we used to live down the road from a gravel pit and experienced a lot of loose gravel from trucks and other vehicles - and never saw any cracked windshields. Every repair is almost $1,000! we replaced the first one only to have the new windshield crack 2 weeks later. This is ridiculous.this is our first new car and it is costing us more than any of our used cars ever has. Subaru is ignoring us as none of my emails or phones calls have been returned.
2 windshield replacements in less than one year.1st was november 2019 with major crack in windshield from small rock while driving hwy 60 near salome, az.insurance replaced with oem windshield.2nd was major crack for no apparent reason while driving on us 10 near morongo, ca in june 2020.bumpy road, but did not hear anything hit windshield prior to it cracking.pictures of 2nd crack attached.replaced at own cost of $640.77 as did not want to make another claim to insurance company in less than a year.
The windshield cracked while driving in the freeway.
The first day i purchased my vehicle, i arrived at home and had a run on my windshield. Within a couple of hours, it ran more.
2019 subaru ascent windshield cracks easily.small rock on free way hit windshield and made a huge crack.1st crack was repaired by a professional through insurance company, 2nd crack happened today 4/13/20.
On the day that i bought the car, on my way back home, a small rock cracked the windshield. Over the next few weeks, the windshield cracked in 4 more spots. The quality seems really bad. I've never had this with any other car.
A pebble from a gravel company hit my window while i was in motion on a highway, causing a small chip. By the next morning a crack across my entire windshield had appeared.
Was traveling on the interstate around 65 mph, tiny pebble hit windshield, chip in the windshield. We had it immediately repaired by a professional the next day. Vehicle sat in a garage overnight, never used after the repair and the next day, 12 inch long crack in windshield, not repairable at this point. Also, never even made one payment on the vehicle before this occurred and didnt even have 1k miles.
The windshield spontaneously formed a crack near the eyesight cameras that eventually spanned the entire windshield after a few days.was driving on the highway with no other vehicles in the area.no impact occurred. Immediately the eyesight stopped working as well.
Windshield cracked against the driver's side pillar about midway up while sitting in driveway.within a couple weeks, crack increased in size until in front of drives view.
In january 2020, within one month of ownership, at1200 miles, my windshield began to crack and spread over the entire glass. I replaced it with oem glass and the dealer recalibrated the eyesight system.in december 2020, at about 20,000 miles, the windshield glass started to present gold speckles when light hit it. I took it to the dealer and he found nothing. It continues to impact my visibility.
I recently noticed the windshield has thousands of millions of glaring specks/dots when facing the sunlight in early morning or late afternoon. The windshield becomes so blurry and extremely annoying. This happens when i face lights even night times with oncoming vehicles kinda of glare. I cleaned with multiple solutions not going at all, one angle can be seen very grey colored dot. Took to dealer and also agreed with this. Not sure what are my next steps, but i want this nhtsa look at seriously. My car is just about 2 months and 2k miles on it as of now.
We were driving and had a very small rock chip in the window.within the next 30 minutes the windshield had cracked the entire from the top side of the crack all the way to the side of the windshield and cracked on the bottom all the way to the bottom side of the window.so what should have been an easy rock chip repair quickly changed to needing the whole windshield replaced at almost $1,000.the chip occurred while we were going about 30 miles an hour just getting on the on ramp to i-55 at mm 100 in springfield il.
4days after purchasing my ascent i was on the freeway and a passing vehicle threw up arock and hit the windshield. It was so small that normally it could have been fixed but instead it broke the windshield from the driver side view all the way over to the passenger side. The whole windshield had to be replaced at a cost of $1200 for the windshield and had to be re-calibrated at the dealership for an additional cost of $300. Here i am a year later and the same thing has happened again. Exact same spot on the drivers side where a tiny rock flew up and again cracked the windshield from the driver side all the way over to the passenger side. This is clearly a defect in the glass manufacturer that subaru is using for their vehicles and its a costly one
My car was parked.i saw a crack in the windshield (cause unknown) on the passenger side that began at the top glass and descended, then heading inwards towards the mirror. Over the course of 2 days, it has extended past the mirror into the driver view. The subaru glass (agc automotive, dot-376, m8h4 as1, 30e, lamisafe) could be faulty.
Crack in windshield appeared w/out usual sound or sign of debris. Dealer said it could not be repaired, only replaced & all systems recalibrated at owner's expense. I have driven over 1 million miles & have never seen a crack w/ no debris or if any, so small it made no impact.just a crack appeared like it was pressure on the glass causing the crack.
Was driving south on the garden state parkway in woodbridge, nj - small pebble or rock hit the passenger side black trim on windshield (original windshield). Crack immediately started to expand to about 3-4ā€¯ long. The next day the crack was almost half way across the entire windshield. I now need to have the entire windshield replaced which will require my taking time off of work to take it in, since the repair shop must recalobrate the windshield safety equipment.this amount of cracking seems excessive for a 2019 vehicle especially since the initial chip was so small - not happy that this occurred on such a new vehicle in what seems like a normal situation.
We had a rock hit our dashboard while we were pulling coming off an on-ramp onto an interstateand resulted in a small chip.within an hour of driving it after the chip a crack resulted outward to the driver side of the window to the frame and down towards the hood to the frame.this quickly impaired our vision and made it difficult to drive.the windshield was not repairable and we spent about $950 out of pocket to repair the windshield as it had to be ordered through the dealership.on a side note after the repair the rain sense windshield wipers stopped working after the windshield repair and neither the glass shop that did the windshield replacement nor the dealership under warranty would take ownership of this issue and would not fix the defective item.
Windshield hit by small pebble on highway. Small chip formed. Withrn 5 minutes 10 inch spider cracks formed all around. Middle of a road trip had to turn back home and switch vehicles. Do not feel safe with a windshield soo fragile. Second subaru ive owned with same windhield issue. First was a 2018 subaru outback.
This is the second time this ascent's windshield has cracked for no apparent reason.the first time was within 60 days of purchase; it was replaced with a oem windshield by subaru.there was no observed object impact in either case.the attached photo is of the second crack which was noticed today.
After having the car parked outdoors at a restaurant for an hour, i come back to the windshield cracked starting from the bottle that traveled upwards. At first i thought something may have hit my windshield while i was having lunch, but there was no indication anything had struck the windshield. The crack increased to about 24inch in length. This all happened while the car was parked in a parking lot
Window with long crack after very small rock hit windshield at lower speed (45 mph).
One night while driving normally down a smooth road to our house, my fianc noticed a significantly large crack in the bottom of my windshield on the passenger side. I hadn't been hit by anything, nor was i anywhere near flying objects that could have caused said crack. Within the next two days or so the crack tripled in size with no reason. At this point it was across 1/4 or so of the bottom of my windshield. I immediately called subaru of georgetown to schedule a replacement. I had to pay out of pocket because my insurance screwed me over. That was $1000 i wasn't planning to spend while also planning my wedding.
While driving on the highway in the right lane at the speed limit of 65 mph,the right rear window spontaneously shattered with no warning, no external impact, no other vehicles near by, and without prior impact to window.
I have had this vehicle almost 1 year. The windshield got a chip and small "spidering" happened - photo 1. Then i was driving in the rain and a rock, i'm assuming, dinged the windshield. Didn't notice anything but it was raining. The next morning i look at the windshield and there is a big crack - photo 2. To replace this, because of eyesight, is approx. $2000! no windshield should be this sensitive. There is a problem!! my 2 previous subarus, 2012 impreza and 2013 forester weathered rock chips like total troopers! this ascent, not so much!
My complaint is that the windshield spontaneously cracks. I have replaced my windshield once last year thinking it was caused by a small rock. 5/29/20 my wife informed me that another one has formed and due to covid my wife has not left the house much while she has been working remotely.
Windshield easily cracks and chips leading to unsafe windshield and poor visibility. It has happened when in motion and when not in motion. This has happened multiple times and i am unable replace it each time.
While driving at highway speeds, my 2019 subaru ascent windshield cracked suddenly with no apparent cause. The crack was 2 inches wide in the upper center.very upsetting as i had just bought the car the day prior. Dec 7th, 2019
My windshield on my 2019 subaru ascent was cracked while in motion on a highway
Front windshield cracked for no reason.
My windshield has been impacted by objects from the roadway twice and has had to be replaced each time. The first incident was in april 2019, when a chunk of ice flew off a vehicle ahead of mine and nearly shattered the entire windshield. This windshield was replaced. The replacement windshield was impacted by a small road rock while operating the vehicle in december 2020, resulting in a golf ball-sized puncture down to the adhesive sheet. Even the safelite tech remarked at the level of damage and was unable to salvage the windshield. I have never seen a road rock cause that much damage to a windshield, and i don't think there's ever been a vehicle i've owned that hasn't taken a rock at one point or another. It's unavoidable. What is not unavoidable is the clearly defective nature of these windshields. I no longer feel safe behind the wheel. That windshield will protect nothing in a high-impact situation.
Was at church on a sunday, vehicle was parked outside. When leaving home getting into the vehicle noticed there was a crack on front window.
The front panel of my sunroof has a large crack originating from a connection point with the vehicle. I have not experienced any impacts in this area that could explain the crack. I noticed the crack when preparing to use my sunroof.
The windshield on my subaru ascent cracked in two different places without anything striking them. Please see pictures attached to see. On both occasions my car was parked in my driveway and when i came out there was a crack on two separate occasions. This happened within two weeks of each other.
A crack formed in the windshield while driving starting on the left side of the vehicle, where the windshield meets the car frame. We were driving on the freeway going straight, at approx 75mph and there were no other cars around when it crack started to form. There was no rock/ item that had hit the car. In less that 24 hours, the crack grew to be 3/4 across the entire windshield. There was no area that looked like a "point of impact" and there was no "star". When speaking to the dealership, they said that many windshields these days have been cracking easier than normal, that they haven't been made well the last few years. No one at subaru informed me out this when i was buying the car, and the model and year have been added to a list of known vehicles with windshield issues.
Windshield cracked halfway across just sitting in the garage.subaru would not cover it under warranty even though the vehicle was only a little over a year old. Will not buy another subaru.
My windshield cracked while stationary in the driveway. We did not identify any cracks or chips in the windshield that could have cause this. The crack started at the top driver side corner of the windshield.
The windshield has lot of little rock dings in it which no other windshield on any other vehicle i have ever owned had. When i put subaru's replacement new windshield on it could have the same issues. The damage of the major crack is due to outside influence that i will have to replace the windshield and i have no windshield insurance but the small dings have to be addressed before i pay $826.65. The major crack happened while in motion as well as the many small dings on the highway and a few on city streets.
Within a few months of just driving our 2019 ascent , the windshield seemed to have cracked overnight!! my wife had noticed it and said that when she was driving the day before she didn't notice it , but when she left in the morning it was there.
While driving at 25mph, there was a loud cracking sound and few minutes later i saw a crack in the front windshield on the left corner starting 3 inches from the bottom of the windshield. Upon further inspection, it appears the crack developed from within the windshield as there was not rough edges felt over the crack.
A crack appeared one morning on the drivers/middle of the windshield going from the bottom up about 8 inches then turning toward the drivers side. Took the car to the local subaru dealer where the tech examined and at first could not locate a ding in the glass. He eventually used a ball point pen and ran it along the crack. Just behind the wiper he said he felt some resistance and that indicated a chip. He rubbed the pen tip aggressively over this point till there was some wear. I pointed out that not only was this behind the wiper but how could something so small that it took hard rubbing with the pen to provide "a source" for the crack cause the windshield to break. I suspect a defective windshield.
I bought the car new.2-3 months later i went on vacation and came back to a huge crack in the windshield that spontaneously appeared in my heated garage without an associated chip.it gradually expanded but i waited until after winter to replace to avoid additional chips in the winter. 2-3 months after i replaced for $700 while driving again a spontaneous crack appeared before my eyes starting at the edge and moving down without any apparent rock hitting it prior. Since then 3 additional cracks have appeared largely covering my windshield.i live in alaska and have for years. I have 4 vehicles and this one is just driven around town.the suburban windshield is covered in chips but never in my 20+ years of car ownership of 20 or so various cars have seen a windshield that cracks to this extent without large rocks even hitting it.these cracks are not a chip from a rock that expands.there is clearly a flaw with this windshield.first time i was like huh weird.second windshield with same exact problem, there is clearly an issue.dealer is telling me tough cookies lady.these windshields are like 1000$ to replace with the recalibration required.

I as driving on the freeway at approximately 70 mph. A 'low tire pressure ' warming came on for a few seconds then went away. A minute later, my car started to swerve and was making a loud noise. I was able to cross 3 lanes to the shoulder, where i found a completely destroyed left rear tire. My car has less than 1,800 miles on it. I feel lucky to be alive.
