2006 dodge sprinter2500 passenger van. Since first months of purchase, activating the rear a/c while in hot weather causes the engine to die without notice. The 5 time return to the dealership while under warranty resulted in sensor changes to no avail as they claimed they couldn't duplicate or bring up a code. Engine failure is chronic, usually occurring during reduced speed such as coming off a highway off ramp and will restart only in park. This is a reported problem by numerous passenger sprinter owners. At 35,000 miles, the front a/c reduces air flow after approximately 20 minutes when the air circulation button is forced off on it's own. Limp home mode began as a common occurrence at 40,000 miles. Diesel fuel and filter changes have not resolved the issue. At 45,000 miles, rattling began in the engine compartment at initial drive mode only. At 50,000 miles, extreme power loss revealed a split in the intercooler hose, a flaw in numerous forums in sprinter design including the newer models.dodge continues to deny the common rear a/c engine failure problem.
2006 dodge sprinter, 2500 series passenger van shutoff on the interstate in traffic without any warning. Was able to coast out of the traffic flow into the emergency lane and stop. My speed was approximately 55 - 60 miles per hour in this traffic flow. Odometer reading is approx 2, 100 miles. I put the vehicle in park and it started back up then drove directly to the dodge dealership. This is the 2nd shut-off incident and it first occurred on september 5, 2007 on the interstate in traffic. My speed was 45 - 50 miles per hour in this traffic flow. Odometer reading was 967 miles. Drove directly to the dodge the dealership ran diagnostics but could not duplicate the shut-off and they test drove my van 73 miles. This is a serious highway and interstate safety hazard for my vanpool passengers and all other vehicles on the interstate that are around me at the time when these no warning engine shut-offs occur. As for this evening at 5:56 p.m., my van is back in the shop at the dodge dealership for diagnosis and repair. I am deeply concerned about the safety and welfare of my vanpool customers and all vehicles that are around me on the interstate when these no warning shut-offs occur. Please help.
I have a 2005 dodge durango that turns off while i am driving , it has done this numerous times and i have reported this to the dealership and their response has been very reluctant to help fix the problem . I have notified them that when i am on the road it is a hazard to me and my family as well as other motorist . I requested that they need to be very diligent and that this needs to be taken very seriously for the safety of all who drive on the public road.
