Pcu-channel sheared off driver side, rear axle.the pcu channel (or shackle) is what the leaf spring bolts to which holds the axle in place which the tires are connected to.this was discovered after our return from a trip while disconnecting the trailer.the driver side tire had moved forward 2 1/2 inches and the trailer was lower than normal as the frame had dropped and was only being held up by the bolt that connects the leaf spring to the pcu-channel.we have many pictures.we contacted skyline (the manufacturer) customer service in hemet, ca.apparently the 2006 trailer (dop 9/24/2005) is out of warranty.they referred us to lci (the frame builder, reference call # 228845) and stated the same but as courtesy they sent us a replacement pcu-channel.we are now waiting for a return call from the division manager from skyline in hemet, ca - he said that it is out of warranty but he would look into it and get back to us.since it is out of warranty and it appears that we are left to fix this ourselves we contacted a welder.during his examination he stated that the welds on the broken pcu-channel looked like they were under cut (over welded) i.e., poor workmanship.it was also discovered that two of the other three pcu-channels were/are bent.this trailer has roughly 5,000 miles on it and has never been taken off-road.we feel very lucky that this failure did not cause a serious accident and injury or death to us or someone else.
