Bad tacata air bag, no fix since may 2016

Takata recall -- recall announced in may 2016 and 11 months later no action to correct.

Takata recallhave been waiting for replacement passenger air bag since approximately june 2016.have been inconvenienced and not able to ride with a passenger in front.can never get any status from toyota dealer as to when replacement will be available.

We question why none of the 4 airbags (2 sides, driver or passenger) deployed in a crash that had the 2010 scion xb airborne. And the vehicle rolled resting upright on the front of the car.the injuries were predominantly seatbelt bruises and a fractured kneecap.the multiple impacts during rolling may have been too low to initiate an airbag deployment or it could indicate a problem.what should be done to determine whether the response was appropriate? the car will likely be totaled by state farm. Is there (or should there be) any "trigger" that causes records to be kept on levels of damage and whether airbags actually deployed?

2010 scion xb.consumer writes in regards to no remedy available within a reasonable time frame to repair recall 16v-340.*ld

Takata recall -i have called the toyota dealership in thousand oaks ca where we bought the car and they always tell me they don't have any replacements.

"takata recall" in june 2016 we received in the mail a notice of recall for the front passenger airbag inflator that is produced by takata. We have contacted our local toyota dealer to have the part replaced, and we continue to wait 4 months later for parts that are not yet available.this is a family vehicle that needs to be used on a daily basis in the state of florida. This is a major safety concern for myself and my family. Toyota telling us "we are waiting for the parts" and you will be notified via mail when they do, to schedule an appointment is not fixing the problem. They do not even have an estimated time frame.

"takata recall"i received the recall notice in the mail which states the propellant in these faulty airbag inflators may degrade after prolonged exposure to high humidity and fluctuating high temperatures.if airbags do deploy it can result in injury of vehicle occupants or death.recommendations are not to operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat, until airbags are replaced.we live in cathedral city, california, we have high heat with severe summer temps, humidity, and fluctuating temperatures.we are a family of four and often have a fifth passenger.i called toyota of the desert in cathedral city and spoke with janie.janie stated the airbag parts were not in and didn't know when they would be in.she instructed me to call back in two weeks.i asked if a rental vehicle will be provided in the mean time, she stated toyota does not cover a rental, all customers have to pay out of pocket.i feel that toyota of the desert has failed to remedy this problem in a reasonable time, and has failed to provide its customers with a rental vehicle due to the delay.

Takata recallthis has been going on for years. My son is driving this car now. This specific recall was announced in may 2016, but toyota has failed to make a remedy available. This means my son, and his passengers, are at risk of a deadly airbag explosion and toyota must be made to actually implement the recall remedy immediately. We can't afford to park the vehicle until toyota gets around to it, or turn it into a one-person vehicle, when we paid for a 4-person vehicle.

"takata recall".online notice advises passenger airbag is unsafe and can result in serious injury or death.after trying to contact scion unsuccesfully, called gosch scion in hemet, california who confirmed the inflatorwas indeed deadly.i asked if it was safe to drive and reply was "that's up to you".after a few more words were exchanged to the effect this $25,000 car was a pos, the gosch replied i would feel the same way if it was mine.said they didn't have parts to fix and i would be contacted.bottom line.i now have a car that is a deathtrap and am upset nobody in authority prevented such a worldwide debacle from taking place until several innocents died .my car is now being garaged indefinitely.

While driving in 1-2 inches of slush and snow my tires began to slip and the my vehicle regained control. It happened as i was turning into a culdesac. This had happened before and the normal stability vsc light would flash and alert me however this time the abs, brakes, vsc, and no stability control light came on and stayed on. I have reset the display, let the vehicle set over night, disconnected the battery and the lights remain on. My brakes lock up and the tires spin out on a whim.the cost to fix it is about $900 but the mechanic says it may not fix the problem. The connection at the hub is fine.

Excessive engine oil consumption.my car engine oil drop way below the lower limit of the oil stick mark between the oil change interval. I have to add 1.5 quart of oil to bring the level back to normal level (between the hi and lo mark). The car consumes most of the oil with only 2000 miles from the last oil change.

Its using to much oil. I have to add oil every 2 weeks if not sooner

My car 2010 scion xb burring oil due to defective piston ring designed by toyota. This problem should be cover by toyota even after 150,000 miles or after 10years old. It's is getting worse each year goes by toyota ignored the piston ring designed problem.

Drivers side seat keeps clicking, seat is locked in place and the bolts are tight. Seat is pumped up but still continues to click.

The contact owns a 2010 toyota scion xb. The contact stated that the brakes felt very loose and that the rotors over heated at 5,000 miles. When the failure occurred it forced the contact to increase the stopping distance. The vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for the failure. The dealer resurfaced the rotors; however, the failure was not corrected. The rotors continued to overheat and the brakes made a loud squeaking noise. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 5,000 and the current mileage was 18,812.

Brake pedal feels spongy. It feels like there is air inside the hydraulic system. The car takes longer to stop time to time. The braking is inconsistent. This is a very big safety problem in this car.

The first time my brakes stopped working was in the endings of may of 2010, i was in a bumpy road going about 45 mph. I was nearing a stop sign and my brakes would not work. The brake pedal would touch the floor until i received signals that it was working. It did this about 3-4 times. I took my car in that same day and nothing was found to be wrong. Six months later, this same incident happened again. But this time i was in a traffic area and people around. My brakes would not work, they were again doing the same thing. I contacted a specialist from toyota scion and he came a week later and inspected my car and found nothing wrong. But he did actually do something about it, which was great. He replaced my brake cylinder. So after this second time i thought it wouldn't happened again. But it was a much shorter time frame than the last 2. The third time was on february 14, 2011, only 3 months from the 2nd,. Now i just don't feel safe driving my vehicle. I have a child, and a little sister that often ride with me. I don't want there to be a bad accident where i wont be able to brake at all. Not only that, but my brakes shouldn't be doing this in the first place.

While pulling into my driveway my accelerator suddenly surged forward into a brick plantar box, i was able to stop the vehicle with the brakes and emergencyhand brake, although the gas pedal has always been sensitivethe surge of acceleration has not been this excessive until now. Toyota states there has not been any claims on this vehicle...

2010 scion xb-the steering will sometimes feel as if it just gives out.it only happens for about 2 seconds-but when it does it is very frightening.i have felt it happen twice now-the first time i was on a ramp and it felt as if the car was going to go straight off the ramp--but it kept curving as it should-then control of the steering was restored and i was fine.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the motor mounts were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, while driving approximately 25 mph, the front passengerā€™s side axle failed causing the front passengerā€™s side of the vehicle to lower. I have a rs 7.0 which has the body kit.very often, when i turn, especially if there is a passenger or extra weight in the car, it sounds as though the front wheels are scraping against the body of the car.of course, the dealer can't hear the sound at all.but that is what i expected.i just hope that when the tire blows because of wear, i don't get killed.the car is almost three months old and this has been happening since i bought it.

Over the past 4 years i have had the door locks malfunction on four separate occasions, some parts even malfunctioning after they were replaced at toyota service centers. Locks do not engage when locked via door switch button, through keyless fob, and when manually attempting to engage it is jammed and physically hard to engage lock. Has occurred twice on front passenger side and twice on left rear side. 2014 - front passenger, 2015- rear left, 2016-rear left, 2018-front passenger. Began happening intermittently, now is permanently jammed.

My scion xb has a set of dealer installed trd springs front and rear.the springs in the rear have rusted to the point where i question their resistance to breaking and thus the safety of the car when turning a corner.the springs came from the factory with a coating that has quickly worn off an exposed the bare, untreated metal to excessive rust and corrosion.if one of these springs breaks while driving, then the car could be difficult to control and result in a wreck.

Returned accelerator problem to dealer was told they would test drive it to try to duplicate the sticking.then would contact toyota "to see whattoyota wanted to do about it".i feel toyota should be forced o buy back all of the vehicles they sold which are clearly potential death traps.toyota tells me there is no electronic problem, while at the same time admitting they have no idea whatsoever what is causing sticky gas pedals.their franchise to build and distribute vehicles in this country should be taken away, i don't care how many billions of dollars they lose.

Unintenional acceleration.

Unintended acceleration - at very low speed, with foot on brake, engine revved and car surged. This has now occurred three times.

Two incidents within the last month (june-july 2018) of unintended acceleration. Both times occured while nearly stopped, with foot on the brake pedal. The engine revs as if hitting the accelerator, but foot is on brake. Had to press hard on brake to keep from lurching forward. Lasted 2-3 seconds.

My scion xb developed an l-shaped crack in the front windshield, starting from the bottom of the passenger side (below the wipers), going up and to the left towards the driver side. The crack is about 6 inches long and it suddenly appeared with no apparent cause one morning.

A crack in the windshield has appeared.it is about 12' long, in a slight "l" shape, starting on the passenger side near the top.there was no impact by pebbles or ice or anything.the car is a month old today, and has about 1900 miles on it.
