I had a bad mva accident on 6/12/2019 @ 0815am in the morning, a lady t bone me with fast impaction, the airbags did not deploy nor the side air bag curtains deployed during the accident. The airbags did malfunction in my opinon and caused me to hit my head and chest hard on the steering wheel. I was wearing my seatbelt the entire time as well. The car was in motion when the driver hit me on the highway. Was a hard impact to the car. The sensors appear not to be working correctly since the air bag did not deploy during this hard impaction.

No accident but receivedpotenial recall andnotice of a class action suit against takata airbags in scion cars.

My daughter and son were in an accident as a passenger in a scion tc 2009 and the car rolled multiple times and both the front and back passenger seat belts unlatched and the passenger curtain airbag did not deploy or inflate.with these defects, my daughters legs were trapped under the car and sustained traumatic bone damage in which her prognosis at this time is unknown.her left ankle, the talus, fibula, and tibia were crushed.currently she had an ex fix on her left leg and two plates and pins placed on her fibula, the physicians say she will never walk the same and she currently is unable to bear any weight on either foot due to the fracutes sustained from her being ejected from the car because of the seatbelt release and the failure of deployment of the side curtain air bag.

I purchased a 2009 toyota scion from the fairfield, ca dealership . I was on the freeway when my car accelerated up to a faster speed than i wanted i tried to correct it in the confusion and not understanding what was going on i lost control and crashed into another vehicle. There was 10,000.00 of damage to the car it was repaired but then i had another accident in the same car again sitting at a stop light i barley tapped thegas pedal my car jumped into a high speed smashing into the car in front of me after i hit i turned around to check on my child thinking a car had hit me from behind but it was not another car it was just mine but then it did it again smashing into the car again. It was crazy i had no idea what was going on my face was smashed up pretty bad 2 black eyes and fat lips extra. My car hit the car in front of me so hard it smashed into the car in front of it. Now gather i was already stopped sitting and waiting for the light to turn green what caused my car not once but twice to smash into the car in front of me. My car was totaled.i hadthe worst time with this car it seemed like i was driving with a dark cloud over me. Not only was the acceleration a problem but the trunk lid also broke off and my seat belts did not work properly. There also was a problem withthe brakes sometimes if i was on a steep hill the brakes would skip and not catch almost like it would jump.

I would call this a question for now. The event:a van ran a stop sign. A 2009 scion ct t-boned the side sliding door at apprx.20- 25 mph . Causing approx. 8000 dollars in damage. Front bumper, both front fenders, hood buckled, radiator pushed all the way up to the motorthe question is why didn't the air bags go off? also the van ran the stop sign with tree limb in front of it. Who would be responsible for tree home owner or city? i don't know if this site is the correct place to ask these questions or not. If you can direct me else where i thank you. Thank you for your time.

Brakes feel hesitant to stop and slow down, feel like its a safety hazard because, my 17 year old son has to drive this car, and i need to feel that he has a safe, sturdy sort of transportation.

The engine in my 2009 scion tc has been burning oil internally. I have been told by four different mechanics that this is a safety hazard because it can be dangerous if the car runs out of oil which it almost did. Toyota constructed the engine improperly and the engine needs to be rebuilt which involves replacing the internal parts of the engine such as the rings and pistons. After taking the car to the dealer, toyota refused to give me the diagnosis of the problem but offered to rebuild my engine at full cost. After doing some research, it has been brought to my attention that everyone who purchased a car made by toyota with the 2az-fe engine is having the same exact problem which can be very dangerous. I am having to add oil to my car weekly due to the oil consumption problem. Others who have cars with the 2az-fe engine may not be aware of the problem, which can be dangerous if they run out of oil. Toyota should recall the engine due to safety concerns and make the appropriate repairs.

Hello, back in 2016 i got a letter in the mail that said that toyota was having this oil problem with its vehicles burning to much oil. That they would have to run a certain test on your vehicle and make you drive it 1200 miles and if your vehicle failed they would cover fixing the piston issues that were a manufactured problem on there part. I went and at the time my vehicle was 131,049 miles on it. They took it in but came out shortly after saying my engine was not the engine of my vehicle meaning it had been replaced. I bought my vehicle with a clean title checked the car fax and there was nothing on this vehicle stating that the engine had any work aside of small work like oil changes. My vehicle ran fine and did not burn oil at that time, now it's at about 160,000 and it's burning a full quart at 300 miles. I went to investigate and looked online to check my services performed and when i looked at my services it said that toyota just changed the floor mats it didn't say that i went in there with the original issue of the burning oil and to get it tested and fixed. Im really concerned about this seeing as there service statement is not only untrue but i'm not sure if they lied to get out of fixing the engine in the first place. Toyota bennett scion 1951 lehigh st , allentown , pa , 18103

On november 23, 2012, my vehicle experienced what was later determined to be engine failure.my vehicle experienced a sudden loss of engine power.fortunately, i was able to safely move my vehicle over to a highway shoulder and have it towed to a dealership.after additional research, it appears that numerous other owners with the same engine type (2az-fe) 2.4 l produced by toyota, are experiencing this same engine safety issue.

Engine burns excessive oil.use a quart every 500 miles.

The car is using 8-10 quarts of oil a year. There was a toyota recall for excessive oil consumption, but the toyota service department says this amount of oil consumption is normal and within specifciations.

We are having a problem with our 2009 toyota scion using excessive oil.we have to put a quart of oil in every 1,200-1,500 miles as the car is using excessive oil.this is a safety issue as the engine will blow up if it runs out of oil.the oil light has come on and we have put oil in but the last time we checked the oil, it was low and the light did not come on.in may of this year, the car was put on the oil consumption program.we brought the car back with 1,200 and they said the car passed the program.after 1,500 miles, the car was a quart low on oil so we took it back to toyota in sunnyvale, ca.they added a quart of oil and advised us to bring it back in january for a second oil consumption test.the service advisor and the technician who put th eoil in both agreed that the car is burning oil and stated that it is within toyota's guidelines of burning 1 quart of oil every 1,200 miles which is totally ridiculous.we should not have to put in a quart of oil every 1,200 miles.this is a safety issue and should be resolved by toyota by replacing the piston rings in this motor.

The bolts i. The motor mount work there way out and causes complete total of the vehicle

Hello-i received an extended warranty letter and was advised in that letter that i needed to take my vehicle in for an excessive oil consumption. I took my car and the letter for toyota to check my car. I was under the impression that my vehicle was checked until last week that my car had no engine oil. At that time my car was 2k miles away from a new oil change. I then called toyota and was advised that toyota service technicians never tested or checked my vehicle because my car is salvaged.

I took my vehicle into the passport toyota dealership for service and it was determined that my vehicle did not have any oil in it.i was informed that similar models were experiencing "oil consumption issues", and i should drive approximately 1200 miles and return to the dealership for further testing.after completion of the test, it was determined that my vehicle was in fact burning oil excessively but toyota would not pay to have this problem fixed because my vin # was selected to be apart of the toyota service program.

My 2009 scion tc has been burning through oil at a fast rate causing me to have to fill it up with oil every week. I stay pretty local and rarely go out of town with my vehicle. It is causing a very rough idle in my car. I saw there was a recall but it has not gone through with it. By the looks of many complaints with the same problem as mine needs to be fixed. With no oil being in a car it can cause the engine to blow up and my car is constantly going through oil before every 1000 miles.

Excessive oil consumption. Toyota reports a tsb regarding a piston issue. My engine could be at risk on breakdown. Toyota was and has been aware of the issue since 2007 but continued to sell vehicles without fixing the problem.

I bought my car brand new in december 2008 and within a week i noticed that the radio did not get good reception in some areas. I brought my car into the dealership where i purchased the vehicle and they could not duplicate the problem. I have this problem occur on a daily basis and the slightest things cause signal interruptions. Some of these items are other vehicles, metal building overhangs, telephone poles, rain clouds, fog, trees, and random other items. I have had my car in the dealership 5 times now and they have replaced both the radio and the antenna that connects from the radio to the external antenna on the rear deck lid of my car. Neither one of these repairs have fixed my vehicle. The dealership has noted on 2 of my repair orders that they have driven other cars on the lot like mine and have experienced similar issues.

The lip covering the trunk hatch on these cars is defective and should be recalled.it is a cheap plastic piece held on with plastic clips that break!toyota needs to own up to this and fix it.they know about the issue and let it go on for five years until they changed the parts being used.

The hatch handle, including the lighting for the license plate, fell off with normal use. While this does not endanger the passengers in the car, it is illegal to drive without the lights and gives the possibility of the driver being fined for the vehicle not being build properly. The plastic on the inside of the handle is not able to handle the heat of being in a parking lot for 2 years, and fell of during normal use.

I have a toyota scion tc and it has been consuming oil every 1200 miles now it's even less my engine almost started to lock up because there was no air on i did the oil consumption test they said i passed on my paperwork it has them adding oil and i only drove 1100 miles that's not normal they're telling me they cannot fix my car and the next test i take is going to be in six months so i have to add a quart of oil for every thousand miles

Tl *the contact owns a 2009 toyota scion coupe.the vehicle was stationary.the contact was unable to release the trunk with the ignition key.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer several times. The technician was unable to locate the problem. The vehicle has not been repaired at this time.the vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 1,000. The current mileage was 9,000.

The event leading to the failure was me reaching to open the rear hatch of the car. When i placed my hand on the car hatch handle, the hatch panel broke off and hangs over the license plate and swings violently when i'm driving. Toyota claims that the part isn't covered by warranty.

2009 scion tc, remote does not unlock truck predictableit continues and we cannot find where the proper procedure is shown in the manual.

Hello, during your investigation of toyota, has there been any mention of defective clutch mechanisms in the scion tc? the clutch on my 2009 scion tc burned out within one year of ownership at 7,500 miles and toyota refused to cover the clutch on the warranty. I was forced to pay over $1,300 to repair the automobile. After opening a case with scion customer care and being very frustrated, i finally asked for the matter to go to arbitration. After review by the national center for dispute settlement (ncds), i was awarded a refund of the full repair cost. During this episode, i did online research and found many others who had the same problem: namely a clutch burning out at low mileage (in one case at 2,500 miles!) and toyota/scion refusing to cover repairs as part of the warranty. It seems that toyota tried to blame a manufacturing defect in their parts on customer's driving habits, which i, and others who had the same problem, highly dispute. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

After a front end collision with another vehicle, the drivers steering wheel and knee airbags deployed properly. The drivers seat belt tensioned the drivers seatbelt but ignited a fire in drivers side trim behind the door pillar. The fire melted the interior trim panels and surrounding plastic parts.

At the beginning of 2009, i bought a brand new 2009 scion tc from the toyota dealership. I had not had any issues until monday 22feb10. At 5:30pm, i attempted to drive the car, having to stop at the stop sign at the end of my street before turning onto the major interstate (rte. 1). Upon pressing the brake, the car did not stop. I rolled directly into oncoming traffic on rte 1; luckily, i quickly steered into the middle lane, barely avoiding a collision. I turned into the gas station parking lot beside my street and attempted to stop at the next stop sign connecting the gas station to my street. Again, my brakes failed and i rolled directly into the middle of my street. Thankfully, there was no oncoming traffic at this time, but having my brakes failed twice terrified me. I have contacted toyota but no one seems very willing to help. The service manager of the dealership is going to have the scion tc towed to the shop this morning to inspect the car. I have heard from several people that they are experiencing brake failures in their toyotas and scions as well. Again, it is a brand new 2009 scion tc with 9500 miles on it. The car has only ever been serviced at the toyota dealership. It recently passed state inspection as well.

Brakes feel hesitant to stop and slow down, feel like its a safety hazard because, my 17 year old son has to drive this car, and i need to feel that he has a safe, sturdy sort of transportation.

While parking at a restaurant parking lot my brakes did not want to engage and ended up hitting a trash can at about 5 mph it just happened that one time. One fender had minor damages. Took the car to get serviced up and the brakes were replaced by the car dealership at no cost with the car under 8000 miles

Headedfrom california to nevada on highway 15 just 5 miles from las vegas around 8 pm driving under safe and normal conditions, no speeding, no drugs or alcohol to impair the driver. The car in highway speed(obviously)steered to the right, with out the control of driver, not hitting any other car and having the car 2009 scion tc rollover 5 times!!! my friend that was in the back seat was ejected out because wasn't wearing her seatbelt, ironically the last picture that was shot she was wearing her seatbelt. Me and my friend are thankful to be alive and received moderate concussions, memory loss and minor bruising. The principle of this story is if the product was reliable as heavily marketed to consumers, then no one had to go through this loss. The car was totaled, however no indication to explain why it rolled over and over-steered with out the control of the driver. My personal research has concluded that many toyota vehicles have steering problems that oversteer in highway speeds. Toyota has a track record and negligence to cover up defects and stories like this. Toyotassafety overall is unreliable and makes you realize what companies do just to gain a profit for shareholders. Tragic. The car is a 2009 scion tc vin# [xxx], i tried inputting the vin # however it didn't want to accept my format. I wasn't sure on the mileage but im pretty sure its documented with the dmv and the insurance.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

1. I don't know the reason for it but the steering wheel normally turn by themselves at higher speed even my hand is on steering wheel .2.i felt like i waslosing control over the car's steering, particularly at highway speeds. Normally it happens on highway and sometime on city too . Sometime i looked over to see if there is a hole on street that made my steering wheel turning w/o reason but there weren't a hole on city street.

The hatch handle, including the lighting for the license plate, fell off with normal use. While this does not endanger the passengers in the car, it is illegal to drive without the lights and gives the possibility of the driver being fined for the vehicle not being build properly. I have had my 2009 scion tc for just about 2 years now, back in february i was just doing some grocery shopping, went to open the trunk and the whole trunk release handle fell off,and now is just connected by wires which is a distraction to drivers behind me and also covers the license plate which i'm sure is just cause for me to get a traffic fine. I took it to the dealership where i bought it and they said its not under warranty, even though i have a full warranty left on my car for 100,00 miles. This is an outrage that this part isn't covered for manufacture defects and poor workmanship, this should not fall apart after 2 years, and it clearly should be recalled.. If toyota wants to keep selling cars, they need to make good on fixing this problem.. My car has a warranty on it so i should not have to pay out of pocket for something that shouldn't have fallen off so easily!!!! poor manufacturing........and with all the complaints i've read about people having the same problem, toyota should definitely be taking care of there customers if they want future customers!!!!!!!!

The moonroof on my scion tc shattered as i was driving on the freeway. There were no other cars around me and i did not see any large objects hit my car.

The lip covering the trunk hatch on these cars is defective and should be recalled.it is a cheap plastic piece held on with plastic clips that break!toyota needs to own up to this and fix it.they know about the issue and let it go on for five years until they changed the parts being used.

The plastic housing for the trunk release latch broke completly off when trying to open the hatch.the problem is that the latch is attached to the plastic housing and not the metal trunk. The service pers stated that the proper way to open the hatch is to grasp from the bottom lip and not the latch. This info isn't stated in the owners manual. The proper fix should be to modify the latch and attach directly to the metal part of the hatch.

The event leading to the failure was me reaching to open the rear hatch of the car. When i placed my hand on the car hatch handle, the hatch panel broke off and hangs over the license plate and swings violently when i'm driving. Toyota claims that the part isn't covered by warranty.

The hatch handle on my car broke off when i was lifting the hatch to put some items in my trunk.when i looked further into why it broke, i realized that the pieces were just small plastic pieces and could be easily snapped.i was able to tape the piece back, but was unable to remove it completely because there are wires that connect the handle piece to the car and you need them to be able to lift the back of the car.when i taped it up well enough i realized that i was also covering a big portion of my brake lights which i and other drivers need or it could cause a wreck.i called the dealership and they want to charge me over $300 to fix this issue when clearly it is a manufactures issue.i have noticed since this happened to me, multiple tc's with the same issue when i am driving.i see lots of tape on the rear of those cars as well.not to mention, if it rains or gets to hot the tape falls off and the hatch handle flops around.

I have a 2009 toyota scion tc which i am very afraid to drive but it is not on the recall list but i am having major problems with the brakes(abs tracking system). I have had 3 very close calls as a result of my brakes locking up(going slow) and unable to stop, even after i take my foot off the brake they remain locked. One incident i almost went right into a busy 4 lane highway. It has happened on dry roads and wet roads are a lot worse, i have to start stopping a lot sooner than one should. I am very stressed when having to drive my vehicle anymore. Another issue which only happened once and was when i was driving slow it felt like my vehicle accelerated without applying any acceleration. I have a stick and i find myself unsure which gear to be in when the roads are wet because at times i feel like i am driving on glass and have to shift to higher gear as if there is too much power causing me to feel like i do not have full control of my car and that i am actually driving on glass and the roads may only be wet.

Damage not yet assessed $10.0 estimated. Tried to down shift to slow car but burned clutch trying. Second sudden acceleration in this vehicle.

I have been experiencing the accelerating gas pedal problems since the day i drove it off the lot, but it would occur on the low speed 20-30mph and as soon as i push brakes the accelerating would stop. On feb 15th it has happened on the highway. It accelerated from 65 to 73-75mph while i was pushing brake repeatedly! i took the car to local temecula toyota dealer and i was turned back as they were not able to duplicate this issue and this car is not on the recall list, even thou it is build with identical accelerating and braking parts with corolla that is on the recall! please contact me who is experiencing this issue i will file a claim against scion toyota that will help to resolve this issue for all of us. For now here is a number to call to start a case regarding this issue (866)707-2466.
