There was a brake failure on the car. The maker of the car is scion (toyota) the year is 2006. This caused me to get into a car accident its a new car with around 3000 miles on it. I had it for less than three months. I didn't not do any modification on the car every thing i need it was done including oil change, i went to the dealers.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 10mph, the vehicle was involved in a crash and the air bags did not deploy.the vehicle was equipped with frontal and side curtain air bags.while driving in normal conditions, the vehicle was struck head on by another vehicle.the contact sustained injuries to the head and shoulder from impacting the driver's door. Damage was sustained to the entire front of the vehicle and the driver's side door.the police were at the scene of the accident and provided a written report.the vehicle was inspected by the insurance company and the vehicle was deemed totaled.the contact was wearing a seat belt.

I was in a car accident i was thepassenger .we were on car accident we rolled several times in the airbags never come off. I'm a quadriplegic i broked c6. I flew out off the sun roof.the car was on motion on a stree. I was found 62 feet from the car

Our toyota 2006 scion tc was involved in a head on collision when it was pulling out slowing on a main road and the other truck involved was probably traveling close to 45mph, the car was totaled but not one air bag worked.this car was purchased because it had a high safety rating, however it is just lucky the driver and passenger were not seriously hurt.had the car not been totaled we would have insisted it be totaled, would never purchase another toyota again.

Car was involved in a multiple flip/rollover in which the driver side seat belt did not lock, causing the driver to thrash about inside the vehicle resulting in multiple skull, spine, and other bone fractures ultimately resulted in the death of the driver. The passenger side seatbelt did lock and the passenger survived. In addition to the seatbelt not locking, none of the air bags deployed. I mean none of them!!please look into these vehicles in hopes to save someone's life!!updated 09/19/17..updated 12/11/17

2006 white scion tc suddenly lost control and spun out while driving straight at 55 mph. This lead to the car flipping and totaling the car. After the crash, the airbags did not deploy.

While driving down the main highway a lady pulled directly in front of me while i was doing 35mph i could not stop and t-boned her.my car hit her directly in the side and my airbags did not deploy in which they should have.it caused me to sling forward in the car spraining my neck, spine, lower lumbar, bruising ribs and pinched nerves.

Rear curtain airbags began swelling, causing separation of interior panels. Called scion customer relations and was advised that, because my vin did not match the recalled units, there was nothing that could be done and that the owner would be considered responsible even though i was experiencing a similar issue as documented in toyota recall no. Ssc 60h. According to their records the proper repairs were already made prior to my purchase. Either this is a continued defect, or the repair was completed improperly as no incident has occurred that would otherwise compromise the integrity of the airbag units. ..updated 11/05/12updated 11/14/2012

My 2006 scion tc was purchased new july 2005 had a deployment of all passenger side airbags for no reason on february 2006. The car was taken to the dealer immediately and they could not say why the airbags deployed.in march 2006, the airbag warning light came on and i took the car to the dealer and they said that there was no problem even though the indicator light was on and they said it was caused by a loose connector.april 2006, airbag warning light on again and they could not explain why the warning light was on.may 16th, 2006, took car in for normal service and i asked them to check the airbag again, as on the previous day the warning light came on again;at this time and for the first time, i was informed that there was an error code they knew nothing about pertaining to the deployment of the airbags and that they would repair it.in june 2006, the car was taken back to dealer due to the airbag warning light and they accused me of unhooking the connector wires on the passenger side.i contacted the manufacturer in may 2006 to advise of the multiple safety issues with the airbags.i informed the dealership i did not feel safe in the vehicle and they said the only option is to lemon law, trade-in or keep the vehicle with the safety issues.i am pursuing my options.

Takada recall airbags - was my car affected by this recall?

On 9/23/07 i was in an accident while driving my 2006 scion tc.the front end of my car hit the passenger side of another car.i had been at a stop and had just proceeded into the intersection about 20 feet when we hit, so i could not have been going more than 15-20 mph.the other driver's speed is unknown, although the posted speed limit is 35 mph.the entire front end of my car was ripped off and the frame was pushed back.the body shop estimated the damage to be well over $11,750 so the insurance company declared it a total loss.damage to the other vehicle was minor.not one of my 6 airbags ever deployed even though the force of the crash was enough to demolish the car and throw me against the driver's side door.

I was driving up spruce street in manchester nh. As i went through a green light at the corner of spruce st and beech st,i was involved in an accident that i was not at fault for, by someone who was not paying attention and went through a red light, as i was going through my green light. I was hit very hard (all the impact was to the front of my vehicle) and i am thankful i had my seat belt on because my airbags did not deploy. The damage to the front end of my vehicle was so bad my car was almost totaled ($7,200 in repairs). I was told by the collision center that "there are many factors that go into the air bags deploying and not deploying" i almost felt as though i was brushed off for something that could have caused me my life.there still has not been anything done with my airbags, i was only told that they "should" be fine.

- the contact ownsa toyota 2006 scion tc.the contactcomplainedabout the airbags and the wire harness system on the vehicle.on april 29, 2006 the contact's daughterwas involved in a collision while driving the vehicle on a sunny day.the vehicle was driven to a stop sign at an intersection that was a two way stop.the contact's vehicle was struck on the passenger's side mid to rear doors by an incoming vehicle.this caused thefront bumper to collide with the second vehicle.the contact wanted to file a complaint against toyota since the airbags and wire harness system did not provide the protection required with this type of collision.the case is been reviewed by all state.toyota explained that since the wiring harness was cut when the vehicle was struck it caused the seat belts and airbags not to deploy. There was one injurythe current and failure mileage were both 500 miles.

The contact owned a 2006 toyota scion tc. While driving 50 mph, the contact crashed the vehicle into a tree. The vehicle rolled over three times, but the air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained a bruised chest and a passenger's toe was lacerated. A police report was filed and no medical attention was received. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

On march 3rd year 2007 at 3:00 am i was in a car accident where my car was hit in the front end by at least 25 metal poles that hold up three guide wires at 65 miles an hour due to a tire blowout totaling my car. The complaint is that the air bags did not deploy on impact seeing as my front end and undercarriage was demolished right near the airbag sensor.

Vehicle went over embankment, front end of car ripped off, and the air bags did not deploy.

I was in a severe collision is nov 2006 (in palmdale, ca) in my 2006 scion tc. The car was approx. 3 months old. During the collision my car rolled over an embankment "head over heals" and then sideways before resting upside down. None of the airbags deployed. I hit my head on the steering wheel (luckily i was ok). The front end of the car suffered the most damage. I notified toyota and they told me that they didn't see an issue and did nothing about my complaint (except block my access to my account on their website).

Car was involved in a head on collision at a speed of 40-50 mph.the air bags on the vehicle did not deploy when they probably should have.

The contact owned a 2006 scion tc. While driving 65 mph, the contact noticed flames underneath the vehicle as it spread to the engine compartment of the vehicle. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. A police report was filed. The contact did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 186,594.

Excessive oil consumption between oil changes, i need to check the level every month and add oil if needed. When i turn on the vehicle, the radio turns on alone or turns itself off, without pressing the button. These 2 complaints have been going on for more than two years.

Shortly after parking the vehicle, it caught on fire. The fire capt. Stated it was an electrical fire near the alternator front side of the engine cabin.

On my way home from driving my parents to the airport on may 18th, 2010 at approximately 4:00pm my check engine and low tire pressure light came on. I returned home and was there for a few hours. Around 7:00pm i went out to dinner with a friend. I returned back home shortly after 10:00pm. At approximately 1:10am on may 19th, 2010 i heard the sound of what i thought was fire crackers from the front of my home. I went outside to investigate the noise and to my complete shock my entire vehicle was in flames. I immediately called 911. The fire department put out the fire and said they believed it was electrical. I called the fire investigator that same day and left a message for him to come back out. On may 20th, 2010 around 9am michael burkhart from cape coral fire, rescue & emergency management services came to my home to investigate the fire. He determined that it was caused around the wire housing towards the back of the engine as he pointed out where the most heat was located. Also the wiring that goes to the housing in the engine was completely burned to the metal unlike the wiring inside the passenger compartment which still had some plastic coating over it. The report number is [xxx] for the city of cape coral fire department. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I was parked on a corner and heard a loud pop. I was scared and automatically thought something fell on the top of my car. I saw glass falling in the car and outside the car. I got out to look at it and nothing was on or near the car showing that something fell on it. The wind deflector malfunctioned causing it to pop up, while the sunroof was closed, and breaking the side hinges for the sunroof, and shattering the sunroof glass. Being that i was not home at the time, i drove to my residence and glass was flying in and off the car from the sunroof through the visor. This is the first time this has happened with my car but not the first incident with scion tc. I did a little research online to see if there was a recall on this part, but found that i was not the only scion tc owner who has had this problem. I called scion about it, and they told me that they could not fix it if it was not under warranty and this would have to be paid for out of pocket. I would have to take it to a dealership or my insurance company and pay an estimated $932.41. Problem is, insurance does not cover company malfunctions. This is unacceptable. I should not have to pay for a companies recurring mechanical errors. This is unsafe and a recall needs to be made on this as soon as possible. I could've been hurt, splinters from the glass could have gotten in my eyes. Something needs to be done about this.

I hit a deer and the hood busted, the battery busted and the radiator busted.rocco's collision in turnersville lied, progressive in mount laurel lied, copart in trenton or glassboro got it from aauto in sewell new jersey.these 4 places spun my car in a circle pretending to fix it, while they stole parts and pretended it was a total loss.it was less than 1000 dollars reported as $8500 in damage. I lost $17,000 and got paid $10,300....they even stole the deductible and fixed nothing.

Oil consumption!!!i've owned my 2006 scion tc for about 5 years and have recently been experiencing a huge oil consumption issue. It didn't phase me at first, although now i need to set my odometer to zero and refill my oil every 800 miles. I believe it is certain internal parts that are causing this problem, such as the pistons and the piston rings .i've noticed that this has been an ongoing problem for a lot of scion tc's lately, which has been taken care of through an extended warranty program for the model years of 2007-2009. I'm trying to prove that issue is also affecting the 2006 model year too, and would greatly appreciate it if i could receive some help concerning this issue.i will upload a photo of an old piston that shows this exact problem.

The head gasket failed on my 2006 scion tc. While fixing the gasket and removing the head bolts, pieces of the aluminum threads from the engine block came out attached to the bolts. The aluminum threads wrapped around then blots 2, 3 and sometimes 4 times. It was clear that this was the problem and why the head gasket had failed. -- this is a problem in the 2000-2010 toyota camry and scion tc engines. -- this search of the internet show the extent and the numerous omplaint related to this problem. Https://www.google.com/#q=scion+tc+head+bolts+stripped-- this video showing how to fix the problem. On 08/28/2012 i was driving on the freeway on my way home from work when i noticed the radio went out.i exited the freeway.i made it about 2 blocks and was at a stop light when suddenly my car wouldn't advance. A police officer a few cars behind was able to push my car to the side of the road.i had my car towed for service to an independent non-toyota mechanic.i was told i needed a new alternator.given this was a necessary repair i went ahead and had the repair done.the car was running pretty well until 01/01/2013.on 01/01/2013 i was driving home when i noticed the heater stopped working.thinking nothing of it, i kept driving.on 01/04/2013 (about 75,000 miles on the vehicle) i was returning from an errand (driving about 35 mph) when i noticed the check engine light had turned on.i pulled over at a gas station to fill up and called an independent non-toyota mechanic to see if i could bring my car in.i was instructed to bring my car in on 01/05/2013.after i pulled out of the gas station and drove a few blocks i noticed the needle for the thermostat was at the hottest level possible.the next morning i took my car in, it overheated in the 5 minutes it to me to arrive to the shop.i was informed the engine had stripped head bolts and i would need a new engine . I called toyota/scion and they didn't acknowledge either the alternator or stripped head bolts being an issue. The representative, [xxx] said they would open up a case and i was given the following case # 1301070610. I however came across various scion/toyota owners online who have had this issue. A simple google search for "scion stripped head bolts" will show just how many people have this problem.i was told by [xxx] that if in the future scion/toyota recognizes the issue(s) i may receive a reimbursement but there is no guarantee. This is an expensive fix that i just can't afford.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

This car is constantly burning oil.my oil pressure light never fails to turn on somewhere between 1000-2000 miles after each oil change, and i have to refill to stop the light from coming back on.

Engine block bolts are attached to an aluminum body of the engine causing bolts to become loose with time and can not rethread. Causing coolant to leak from bolt area

Scion tc 2006 - temperature went all the way to hot on the gauge.the check engine light came on.the car started running rough.took the car to local service station.they took the head off.said the engine block bolts are stripped. Mechanic is charging $3000+ to fix. See this issue posted here and elsewhere on line with the 2006 scion.

Trd supercharger was bought and installed at dealermultiple issues with product blown supercharger and engine and paid for another supercharger out of pocketafter 7 superchargers and 5 motor blocks car was put back to stock and was never reimbursed for either supercharger and item was discontinued due to multiple people having similar problemswrote to corporate and they still refuse to reimburse for my paid for equipmenta lot of people have had the equipment repaired and even had the car fully reimbursed minus depreciationi'm only asking for reimbursement of the2 units that i paid for that toyota has taken away from me.

Engine has sever oil consumption to where we are adding a quart or more every 1000 miles or so in between oil changes. Worries me to were i check every week just to make sure there is enough oil. I should not have to worry about that sort of thing. While driving om streets or highways, happens every where, as you shift at a certain rpm (about 1500-2500-3000 ect) the car will hesitate for a few seconds. We originally thought it was from the a/c since i bought the car in the summer time but once the a/c is off the car still hesitates. We have noticed we are not the only ones with this issues but we are the only year that is reporting them.what is going on with my engine and fuel system?! please help!!!!

Leaking engine coolant from back of cylinder head. Took car in to have head gasket changed was told the gasket was not the problem. The problem was the engine block that the threads in the engine block were stripped. Was told by toyota that it was a big problem and it would cost between 1500-1700 to fix the head bolt threads.consider the number of cars trucks and suvs with this engine there should be a recall or some type of owner assistance for this problem.

I change my oil every 3000 or less miles with full synthetic amsoil 5w-20. I have to put in 1/2 a quart of oil for every gas fill up. I'm a highway driver that sets cruise control at 75. I don't dive crazy. 2007 has an extended warranty, where is the one for 2006?

The engine sound increased while i was driving on highway. Got back home check the oil level it was dry.found out that these scions have a problem with oil consumption.

My car consumes about two quarts of oil per 1000 miles. Mechanics have told me that it doesn't appear to be leaking, it could be being burned though. I keep my car running with frequent oil changes and go through a good amount of oil every month in between. Many other tc drivers have told me they have this same issue also.

The contact owns a 2006 toyota scion tc. While driving at any speed, the check engine warning light illuminated and there was a fuel odor. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic who diagnosed that the ignition switch leaked. As a result, the charcoal canister was replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 47,841.

Took my car to the shop for regular maintenance and found out that my car was leaking coolant out of three head bolts on back of engine block. They were stripped out because of toyota improper design of the block. 4 1/2" hole with 4" bolt with only the bottom 1 1/2" threaded which is only an inch to inch thread. Pour design for an aluminum block for that tensile strength. Its an 06 scion tc they wanted 6000 to replace block. Even called corporate but they wouldn't do anything about it since its outside of powertrain warranty when they know its a known issue. They even issued a tsb out in 3/2/2011. Something needs to be done i have seen many cases on this issue and toyota is not willing to do anything about their problem and their pour designs. Service bulletin: s-sb-0004-11.

The engine cover is cracked, this cover has never been removed for any type of repair.wondering if the heat of the engine caused it to crack.

Head gasket leaking found 6 head bolts loose. Installed new head gasket set, new intake manifold. Paid 2000 dollars for repairs, now having problem with the engine. Makes loud noise and overheats. Mechanic and bar agent advised it was a manufacturing problem. Headbolts came loose again and now i need new engine. Previous to this my insurance had paid a total of 5000 dollars for some mechanical and body work. I have been without a vehicle for almost seven months now. Called toyota manufacture company they told me the only way they would inspect the vehicle would be if they charged me. I do not have the money to afford the repair again and to buy a new engine. I just need it to be inspected especially since i had a government official from the bureau of auto repair confirm that there was a manufacturing defect.

Exiting highway, oil light on my 2006 scion tc flickered on. I pulled over and there was no oil on the dipstick, all there was is a black goop. I regularly change my oil.

Driving down the highway at 65mph, the sunroof shattered without anything hitting it.sunroof cover was closed preventing glass from coming into the cabin and preventing possible injury.after speaking with scion they are unwilling to cover repair costs sighting that it could have been debris from the road.clearly, i have no proof except for the numerous other claims through nhtsa.regardless, they have been less than helpful in rectifying the situations and solving the issue.

A/c failure of less than 2 yr old vehicle.over $2,300 repair costs.

The door that covers the stereo head unit rattles and squeaks to no end whether it is open or closed. I first noticed the noise at 1,500 miles. 20,000 miles later it seems as if there is no remedy for this problem.

A/c failure of less than 2 yr old vehicle.over $2,300 repair costs.

2006 scion tc, the a/c on this car (still under warranty) stopped cooling. I took it to the scion dealer i purchased the vehicle from, and they advised me that a pebble or rock had hit the condenser unit and caused a crack, allowing refrigerant to leak out. The repair will be over $1000, and i was advised that this is considered a road hazard which isn't covered under warranty. I believe (as many others do) that this is a design flaw, which should be covered under warranty.

While driving down the highway on the way to work the car suddenly went into idle. The car would not accelerate making it difficult to get it out of the way, luckily i was on the road in the early morning when traffic was sparse. Upon consulting my local toyota dealer they stated it is the throttle body which is common in this motor. I have found that i am not the only person to have this issue and really think it should be investigated as this is an extreme safety issue and a recall should be issued.

My daughter was driving her 2006 scion tc ( made by toyota ) and the throttle body started locking, making the car cut out ( this started around april 1st )and this continued for a few days until around april 5th and then the throttle body would lock completely and shut the car off while driving down the road and the real disturbing part is that the steering wheel would lock, and this happened not once not twice but three separate times.i called the toyota dealership in denison texas and mckinney texas and they said that this couldn't happen and i let them know that not only can it happen but it did happen 3 times and the last time she was doing 70 mph and luckily she ran off of the side of the road curving to the right instead of into the oncoming diesel truck.i asked my daughter repeatedly if the steering wheel was just hard to steer because of the loss of power steering and she said no that she tried with all of her might and the wheel was locked and she couldn't turn it, and she is a strong young lady that could turn the wheel without power steering.i did some research on online forums and this seems to be a common problem with the scions ( the throttle body going out on them ) and i have driven for over 30 years and i have never seen or heard of a throttle body going out on a car and if they did they sure wouldn't allow the steering wheel do lock due to the engine shutting off.this is / will be a serious problem if it is not address and i certainly hope i don't have to read about someone loosing their life due to this problem.

I have a toyota scion tc hatchback 2006. Last year when opening the hatchback which must be manually opened the latch to open the hatchback fell off i was using no excessive force i opened it like normally the panel is still attached to the wire that goes on the inside i have taped it back on but it constantly falls off when it rains dangling while i am driving until i can re-tape it. I have gone to two different toyota dealerships in two different states (texas and louisiana) and both have commented that they see it all the time. If it is such a common occurrence toyota should order a recall considering it has happened to such a large number of owners of the scion tc.

Rear hatch handle anchors broke around 10/8/08 and was told entire unit would need to be replaced at around $400. On 6/17/09 the entire unit broke away and has to be taped down so is doesn't hang in front of the license plate. After reading numerous forums online, i realize that this problem seems to be a problem with this car.

My 2006 toyota scion tc has this very flimsy hatch back trunk handle(plastic) that broke.i have seen many same problem on the same model tc on the road. So this is definitely a design problem and toyota should fix this.looking at how this system was put together, i can tell why this piece is not lasting.

Latch securing rear hatch back rattles - has opened twice. Notified toyota - claimed they do not have a fix.hatch constantly rattles whenever road is rough.

Car does not shift well i replaced clutch and other parts related to clutch n car still cant shift good i cant drive car

- the contact had a 2006 scion tc.the contact stated that his vehicle had been deemed a "lemon" by scion corporate.the vehicle was deemed a lemon because of rattling sounds coming from the hatchback for which 3 unsuccessful attempts were made to repair.other failures included: the transmission wouldn't engage when you put the car in reverse gear, the rear bumper was cracked, and the tires screeched.the contact was in an accident on 11/25/2006 at 3:30 am, on 110 expressway in los angeles.the contact was driving 60 mph.neither the weather nor the road conditions were a factor in the crash.during a turn, the tires weren't gripping the road well.the vehicle veered to the right and he applied brakes to slow car down.the consumer overcorrection to the left and proceeded into a ditch.the vehicle spun around and another vehicle hit him on the passenger side.the contact also stated that the airbags never deployed.the contact stated that the car being a lemon was the cause of the crash.the contact has a police report.

The contact owns a 2006 toyota scion tc.while driving approximately 55 mph, a vehicle crashed into the passenger side of the contact's vehicle.her vehicle then spun around and crashed directly into the front of the other vehicle.the contact's vehicle was completely destroyed and none of the air bags deployed.in addition, the seat belts failed to properly secure the contact and caused her to strike the steering column.a police report was filed.the contact has pictures of the vehicle after the crash.the failure and current mileages were 2,220.

I was driving east bound on the 105 fwy and was keeping a save distance going at approximately 45 mph since traffic was stop and go, when traffic stopped on front of me.i started to apply the brakes with little to no response and could not stop in time to avoid a collision with the vehicle on front of me.a few minutes before and prior to entering the freeway i had felt something similar on the street and thought it wasn't an issue, however the brakes felt as if they were not responding.the brakes began to respond once again and i proceeded to continue to drive.after the accident i thought that this may not be an isolated incident and thought of reporting this incident to make sure it's addressed for future scion tc owners.my car is now a total loss and my insurance didn't cover it.i'm now seeking for an alternate vehicle so i can continue my internship/work experience.

Traveling home from work when i felt something pop under the front of the car. The steering boomeranged to the left, i was not able to recover as it was like it was locked.unable to turn the steering wheel back to the right, i applied the brakes which would not stop the car as it accelerated . The car crossed the center line into a residential yard hitting a tree head on. I ended up with facial, clavicle, rib, pelvis and hip fractures. The physicians say it will be a year before i will be able to work and i may end up with a permanent limp. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------072913 update: crash on june 5, 2012 resulted in permanent disability, foot drop, an "erector set" inside my leg/hip/pelvis, always wearing the leg brace, dealing with atrophy, pain/discomfort, losing the house, need handicapped accessible apt, finances suck, will always be paying the medical bills, can't go back to work (ever),have already become a burden to other taxpayers & the lawyer advised no successful tort was possible against toyota scion because there was no other witness... (don't believe toyota would care either way ! ). We got rid of the tundra for a ridgeline too. No toyota products in our future - ever.am not complaining though - am very happy to still be vertical.

Braking irregularities.strange sound comes from the braking system.

I own a 2006 scion tc and have heard about the recalls for other toyota models. I have heard a description of the prius braking issue and it sounds similar to issues with my scion. When i hit a bump while breaking there is a skipping motion and a serious lag in breaking. I have brought it up with the dealer in the past and they said it was normal. What can i do to force the dealer or toyota to investigate this matter?

I own a 2006 scion tc with 57,828, miles.my warning brake light and warning abs light came on; stayed on and is still activated on my dashboard for abs and brake.the toyota dealership technician confirmed that this safety problem is solely an internal defect of the abs ecu system.when i took it in to the local toyota dealership in lafayette, la.the certified toyota/ scion automotive technician indicated that this problem should not be occurring with a vehicle with such low mileage.further, the technician indicated that if i continued driving the vehicle with this type of problemit could result in inactive abs, and the ceasing of brakes if the system were to engage. Both of these outcomes are serious safety risks and could potentially be the cause of automobile accidents.it was not concluded whether this defect would engage the brake and abs light for all vehicles; i am lucky that my light went on and that i went in to the dealership right away to have it checked out.i am not sure if other people would do the same, and they should be alerted to have this issue checked out.

I have a 2006 scion tc.this car has the same problem like the prius.when i go over bumps, railway tracks, puddles or when it is raining the brakes stop for a second.it has happened to me like 4 times .. I have talked to the dealer, i have talked to my mechanic they all say that my brake is fine and it is more than 90%.but i could swear i have noticed this and i am scared to drive this car on the freeway. I told my mechanic many times that this car has that problem and he always says toyota is a good car , may be it is in your head.now i see that so many are with me . Finally someone is believing me.

Dt: the consumer stated the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal are too close togetherif the contactis not careful in the placement of his feet he will brake and accelerate at the same time.the dealer said it was the design of the vehicle, and there were no other complaints about thisproblem. Updated 12/12/05.

Was driving my 06 scion tc that i bought in nov of 2010, hadsome issues with the steering locking up so i couldn't complete my turns, andmy tc would just keep going in the direction it was locked in. But when i would come to a stop it would be fine again. But today, april 13 of 2011, i was turning left in an intersection onto a road, and my steering locked up mid turn again, but this time there was a van there that i smashed into! my wheel had locked up and no matter how hard i tried to turn it, it wouldn't budge! until i was wrecked into the passenger side of the van. This was no problem of my driving i was just turning onto a street at about 20 miles per hour, wasn't texting, distracted or anything. Scion/toyotas need to figure out this problem because it could really hurt someone! not to mention now i have a citation and insurance money to worry about. Only having bought this car a few months ago froma dealership , this is disappointing, and really scared me. I am a college student paying my way through school and don't just have extra money to pay for something that i had no way control over.

The contact owns a 2006 toyota scion tc. While driving 70 mph, the steering wheel seized and the check engine, oil, and battery warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 139,000.

While driving my 2006 scion tc, steering ability was completely lost.steering wheel was free spinning a complete 360 degrees.i hit the brakes and was able to stop because i was doing about 30 mph.there was no warning, just sudden loss of steering.the intermediate steering shaft disconnected from the steering wheel.

On 1/21/2011, 10:30 pm, i was drivinga 2006 scion tc on the highway, 70 mph,i suddenly lost control of the steering after just finish change lane. The car would not respond to the steering, it went left and right, left and right and suddenly swaying all the way to the end of right side (across 2-3 lanes), i could not see what i am going to hit, but i saw the wall before i hit something ( it was car after i found out), it's happened too fast, after the hit in front of my right side of car, i swaying back to left, across 3 lanes, my car finally stop on car pool line. Everything just happened in 5 seconds.the car is damaged,i have already contacted to scion, hope they can do the inspection soon.

Vehicle was being driven on a long straight road at 55mph. Suddenly the steering pulled right and locked. The steering wheel could not be turned back left. It all happened suddenly and quickly. This road has power poles along the right side. Since the steering could not be corrected, the car went head on into a power pole. The top of the power pole broke off and fell to the ground, landing a foot away from the car, with 5 downed power lines laying all over the ground. My daughter who was driving could not breathe due to the fumes inside the car, and was able to push the door open after several tries. Fortunately as she got out of the car she did not touch any of the live power lines. The power pole ended up almost to the windshield. It was a tremendous impact. The motor broke in half, and the car was a complete loss. It is a miracle my daughter survived this crash, including the immediate impact, the pole falling next to the car, not on the car, and the fact she didn't touch the live power lines when she hobbled out of the car.i researched this online, and have found several others complaining about the same problem with this same year make and model car. The other incidents didn't cause a major accident. My daughter accident was near fatal. With other complaints already made for the same thing, someone should have looked into this. The next accident with this cause may cause some someone to lose their life. Toyota has this problem on anothermodel so it should not be a surprise they have the same problem with the scion tc.she did not suffer major injuries, but does have injuries to her elbow, and both feet. She was bruised from head to toe. She is nowout of the wheelchair and uses crutches to get around. Who knows how long it will take her to be able to walk fully and correctly again.

The contact owns a 2006 toyota scion tc. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the power steering failed without warning. The contact was unable to steer the vehicle and crashed into a guard rail. The contact and the passenger sustained minor injuries and the vehicle was destroyed. There was a police report filed. The insurance company stated that they would not inspect the vehicle to diagnose the cause of failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 68,000.

While driving a 2006 scion tc on the highway i suddenly lost control of the steering. The car would not respond to the steering and i ended up leaving the road before coming to a stop. After i restarted the vehicle the steering returned to normal.

The steering wheel airbag sensor light came on and the horn stop working.

My 2006 scion tc rear trunk handle broke off.it is a common problem.i had tape holding it on for a year or so, and glued it myself.i did not receive any recall notice otherwise i would have fixed it.it is not just the handle to get in to the trunk. This is a 18 inch by 6 inch piece of my car hanging by a wire.i just called scion and they said that is was not a recall but a warranty extension that expired 7 years from the date of car being sold or march 2014.hopefully it stays on and doesn't fly off on the freeway and cause an accident, because then will not be able to have access to my spare tire or get into my trunk. This should be a recall with no expiration date.

I purchased my tc in september of 2010...i notice afterwards that it rattles in the back, loud while going down the road...and it is so annoying. I've tried everything to get it to stop.also, sitting still with the car not in neutral it makes this loud rattle on the left side close to the gas tank..what the heck???

I have a 2006 toyota scion tc and the rear hatch back handle just completely came off. The car has close to 45000 miles on it. I never use force to open the hatch back, never had any issue with it at all. Then last week i simply went to open the hatch and off came the entire panel with the handle. It was crazy i have pictures of it just hanging by the wires for the back lights. I took to dealership they denied to fix even with my platinum warranty package. I am very upset i feel this is not my problem. The manager at the dealer even said he sees this all the time. I have read on plenty of websites that people are having same problem. People honk at me when i drive to let me know it's hanging. Right after it happened i got honked at on the freeway and it's distracting to myself and others.i really want this to be recalled for myself and others.

Trunk handle to hatch snapped off as i was trying to open my trunk.now i can't access my trunk.

I have a 2006 toyota scion tc and the rear hatch back handle just completely came off. The car has close to 23,000 miles on it. I never use force to open the hatch back, never had any issue with it at all. One day i simply went to open the hatch and off came the entire panel with the handle. People honk at me when i drive to let me know it's hanging. (this is exactly the same as several people i know own tc's). Right after it happened i got honked at on the freeway and it's distracting to myself and others. I really want this to be recalled for myself and others.

Bracket that limits door opening gets caught on window track therefore creating a tear and pulling track back , window comes off the track and is unable to work properly and if forced window will shatter, dealer solution is only to replace automobile door since apparently track can not be replace itself.

There is a rattle noise coming from the rear left area around the hatch.this problem has been ongoing for years, and just realized many have reported the problem to toyota online and a few complaints on your site.the rattle occurs when idle on a stop light, or idle somewhere.there appears to be something loose as you can hear a loose object when going over a pot hole or uneven road.the noise is a distraction and almost caused me to have several accidents as i try to identify where the noise is coming from.the noise can be very loud at time.please make a recall on this issue since this problem appears to be a defect on the way the framing / body of the scion's was built.

Hatchback door handle broke off in my husband's hand when he was opening the hatch.the handle is made of thin plastic and broke off with normal pressure and use.

While driving heard a noise like something fell and was dragging in the back. Pulled off and noticed the plastic piece for my trunk had just fallen off. I hadn't been using the trunk.

The rear door latch broke off in my hand.the whole mechanism needs to be recalled.scion claims that the owner's manual advises not to let the mechanism bear any weight.this is erroneous, as the owner's manual tells you to lift after pushing the button.this lifting over time causes wear of the tiny plastic pieces that are bearing the weight of the entire rear/hatch back door.after having this problem i have been looking at other vehicles on the road, and not many have this kind of faulty design.the safety issue is two-fold: number one, the light on top of this mechanism is the brake light.it just falls off over time.once it is broken, there is no way to hold it in place and it blocks the license plate and also could fall off entirely and damage another vehicle.needless to say i could not believe that this was designed into the vehicle.i am convinced that numerous other people have had this problem as both the dealership and the scion help line admitted that this happens frequently.they all seem to be in collusion about it being a design defect even though they admit there is a problem with the weight bearing aspect of the trunk latch.i was to open it by touching the button and then lifting from the bottom of the trunk.when doing this it is impossible to open the door as the latch needs to be pushed at the same time it is lifted upward.otherwise the latch just stays locked.i find this whole situation problematic as i purchased a scion because of toyota's solid reputation of standing by their vehicles.as may vehicle is past its warranty this defect is not covered.i was told that as one time gesture they would fix the problem if i paid for it and then applied for reimbursement.i live from paycheck to paycheck and do not have the money to fix the dangling door latch.after speaking with scion over several days they agreed to cover the repair if the dealership would bill scion for the cost.the issue is that it will happen again.

My 2006 scion tc trunk latch was hard to open. Then one day the whole assembly fell off. In checking with nhtsa it was revealed that there are several complaints of this issue. How do we get a re-call??

Our toyota 2006 scion tc was involved in a head on collision when it was pulling out slowing on a main road and the other truck involved was probably traveling close to 45mph, the car was totaled but not one air bag worked.this car was purchased because it had a high safety rating, however it is just lucky the driver and passenger were not seriously hurt.had the car not been totaled we would have insisted it be totaled, would never purchase another toyota again.

The trunk handle on my broke off. Scion refuses to accept responsibility for this design defect.my husband glued it down, but my concern is that if the piece breaks off or detaches it could cause damage to another vehicle or injury.scion representatives said that it isn't a design flaw, but rather user error from failure to open the latch properly.this is not the case, as i am now even more careful now that the latch is glued on.even now when i am overly cautious to open the latch correctly, it still gets stuck and i'm concerned it will break again.now that i have had the incident happen, i have seen 4 other scions in various places that have their handle taped up, most likely due to the same reason.i find it hard to believe that scion believes it is the consumer who is at fault when it is clearly a flaw in the designs of their vehicle, and they refuse to correct the issue unless you have dropped hundreds of dollars with them at their dealership for oil changes or other services.

The contact owns a 2006 toyota scion tc. The contact stated that while at a stop light, there was an abnormal noise and then the front wind deflector fractured. The vehicle was taken to two window repair shops who recommended that the vehicle be taken to an authorized dealer for inspection and diagnosis. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 73,000.

I own a 2006 scion tc. When i grabbed the handle to raise the trunk the entire rear handle ripped completely off the car. Upon research i see that this a completely common issue. When i called the dealer they claimed this was entirely my responsibility to replace. However clearly this is malfunction in the design of the vehicle.

The hatch back trunk handle is very flimsy and made out of plastic.the trunk never opens just by pression the release latch, it also requires to pull on the flimsy latch, which could cause it to break.i have had to already replace it once.i have seen many reports here and online of the same problem with other owners.

I have a 2006 toyota scion tc and the rear hatch handle has completely come off for the 4th time in 5 years. The first time it was covered under warranty, the 2nd and 3rd time it was covered by the dealership as a courtesy but, as the car is out of warranty, they want to change me $260. Judging by what i have read, there is certainly a problem in the design to expect two clips to hold a piece of plastic that is directly in front of the latch that opens the trunk. There is a tsb in january this year that covers the back door handle garnish that is loose or broken, but my dealership says that is not the same. For me to spend money on an obvious toyota manufacturing problem that will occur again is ridiculous. I have it taped on with duct tape that is really a nice color. How do i get satisfaction from toyota? is there a tsb that i can't find?

Moonroof shattered.driving down the road under calm weather condition no road hazard.

I have a 2006 scion tc.the rear hatch handle garnish broke off while driving.it seemed to only be held on by a few plastic clips.i cannot open my back hatch, and am concerned for my safety.multiple reports have shown this to be a safety hazard- in the event of an accident where driver/passenger doors cannot open, i will not be able to exit the vehicle via the back hatch.also studies have shown the hole created by the missing part may allow carbon monoxide fumes from the exhaust to enter the vehicle while driving.i have researched there is currently a class action lawsuit in the works and this issue has effected thousands of people.scion refuses to do anything about it.i have contacted them and was informed there is no recall and they will do nothing to help with the cost of replacing this defective product.

(1) rattle in hatch and sunroof caused driver distraction(2) when going over speed-bumps and slightly uneven roads, the rattle-distraction might be harmful to the other drivers on the road and to pedestrians(3 )more thanfive visits over a period of seven months to the dealership has not resulted in rectification of the problem.

My 2006 toyota scion tc has this very flimsy hatch back trunk handle(plastic) that broke.i have seen many same problem on the same model tc on the road. So this is definitely a design problem and toyota should fix this.looking at how this system was put together, i can tell why this piece is not lasting.

My boyfriend and i were driving my car on a clear, sunny day at highway speeds with the air conditioner running and all windows closed on i-495 in maryland, when we heard a loud pop.thinking that there was something wrong with the car or the tires i pulled to the side of the road where i then discovered that it was the moon roof wind deflector shattered.glass was falling in though the cover for the moonroof on our head.we ended up switching places and taking the back roads to the dealership.i called them and let them know what happened and found that they were very accusatory.we explained that we had not passed under any overpasses and no debris were observed either visually or heard while in the car coming from the road or another car.once dropping it off they tried to make me feel as if it was me and that my insurance may have to handle it.after a month of dealing with them they returned the car with a new moon roof and freshly painted rear spoiler.recently i found an article in the wall street journal stating that toyota motor corp in recalling 71,000 05-06 scion tc's.that was a huge relief to me, seeing as the dealership made it seem that it was a very limited problem and only a few cases have come about.

1)i was sitting in a restaurant parking lot with only my ac running when and all of a sudden my sunroof just shatters.no reason for the glass to shatter, had not opened the sunroof in 3 to 4 days, nothing hit the sunroof at anytime, and i was motionless when the glass shattered.2)when the glass shattered pieces of glass rained down onto me inside my vehicle.i had a few cuts but nothing major.if i would have been driving when this happened i feel there could have been major problems and possibly glass in my eyes.3)the dealership replaced the glass, but only after i had to argue that they pay for the repairs because i had only had the car for just under 2 weeks.now there is additional damage caused by the glass that i have to try to get fixed.email reply on may 17, 2006 confirmed that it was the sun/moon roof (not the wind deflector) that shattered.

Trunk handle to hatch snapped off as i was trying to open my trunk.now i can't access my trunk.

In early february 2009 my driver's side door did not open all the way.i thought that it just was sticking and gave it a harder push.it then started working fine.a couple of weeks later i went to the drive through at the bank and lowered the window.when i went to put it up it only went up half way. It was two months out of warranty.i took it to the dealer they told me that the way the hinge and window mechanism are designed i needed a completely new door, that the old one couldnot be fixed.i found out this is a design defect with the car which dealers were notified of in 2007, but were not required to notify vehicle owners.the repair was going to cost me around $2400.just found a friend who was able to fix it in an hour and a half.there is a modification available if you know about the problem and ask.modification really needs to be done before the problem occurs, or at least before you use the window after the door sticks, but if you are unaware of the design problem, the initial sticking of the door seems like a minor next time the car is service have it lubed type issue.updated 09/01/09. *lj

Braking irregularities.strange sound comes from the braking system.

There is a rattling noise coming from either the rear or right side of the vehicle. It started recently and is a distraction.

Traveling home from work when i felt something pop underthe front of the car.

I have owned my 2006 scion tc since feb. 2006 and after the first year of owning it, i noticed creaking and clunking noises in the front end. I also have had a new right rear seatbelt, and radio replaced within the first year. I have taken my car back to the dealer over 10 times now in a little over a year, and they have greased front end and replaced the left front strut and plate, and still not resolved, they are claiming nothing is wrong with the car and it is cold out so it is making those noises due to the weather, however it does this all year around, and there is also a wobbling in the front end going over bumps in the road which is not resolved either. I am so frustrated with this car right now i am ready to just call the lemon law and make them give me a new car. I still have 3 years left to pay this car off, and i am tire dof the run around. I call scion corp hq and they tried to help me and couldn't either. I love the car but the problems have to be resolved or else. I know i am not the only one experiencing these issues, or am i? i also experience the car not wanting to start sometimes no matter what the weather is. Please help.

After a month of owning my 06 scion tc the wheels started to screech when reversing and a tire started to loose pressure. When i took it to the local toyota service department at 4,500 mile and told me the car was running normal and all i had to do was reset the tire pressure cause the light will come on anytime driving over a bump due to the low profile tire..well, now at 29,000 miles the whole back end of the car vibrates when turning the steering wheel , there's a ticking noise from upper/lower windshield area, my glove box rattles and the ac switch clicks loudly. I schedule an appointment as soon as the car started to rattle which was the same day i had got my routine oil change at the dealer ship and being sat i had to wait till monday to bring it in. When i take it in they take a quick exam of the car buy listening to it and say everything sounds normal to me . I take it to another toyota service department i tell them the same thing (tires screeching, whole end vibrating and ticking , noise behind glove box) they take a look and say the knocking noise you hear is from the sun roof frame so we ordered a part. They told me everything else is fine and never fixed the problem. I pick it up from the dealership and the later that evening i go to start it to roll the windows up and the car rotates but doesn't want to start. After the second time the car starts i leave it alone and test it later that night it does the same thing and hasn't stopped since. If i leave it sitting for 30 min or longer it does this. I take it and get it looked at as soon as the local toyota dealership opens the next day(today may 3 2008) and they said it's my key causing it and that i need to by a new one..i told them i have 2 spares and they insisted i buy a new keyless entry key. I said im taking it to another dealer and they told me they wont be able to get to it till monday...

At highway speed, drivers side rear tire failed. Caused the vehicle to become unstable and dangerous. Sumitomo is the manufacturer, and the tires themselves still had apprx. 12,000 miles left on the life of the warranty. Going to have all others checked, and replacing the affected tire.

The wind defeletor shaddered as i was driving down the freeway at 8:30 pmdoing 60mpg. It had been open all day,

While driving on a highway, the moon-roof/sun-roof shattered spontaneously. The damage does not appear to be caused by any object striking the glass. I have dashcam footage of the incident, in which two distinct pops can be heard when the glass shatters. Additionally, the extension mechanism (two supports on the sides of the glass) were fully extended. It is my assumption that one of the supports failed and fully extended, forcing the glass to bend and ultimately put enough stress on the glass to fail, at which point the other support fully extended. Please see attached pictures. It appears videos are not able to be uploaded, but please contact me if you would like this information.

Car does not shift well i replaced clutch and other parts related to clutch n car still cant shift good i cant drive car

Purchased new 2006 scion tc in october of 05.since that time i have noticed chips, scratches and paint generally coming off the car all over the place.i drive on paved streets and in a moderate climate area (seattle).i feel cheated that a car less than one year old is having paint failure issues.

Failure to hit unlock multiple times on keyless remote when accessing rear hatchback trunk will put undue stress on the poorly designed entry point. Even with using the unlock feature when the front passenger and driver doors are unlocked the trunk lid remains locked. Since this is such a poor design it has broken and the only way to replace is 800 repair bill for new part and have it painted.i have to point out that the hatchback is opened and accesed by an electric pressure point with keyless entry only, since this is a plastic part and is very weak, it only takes a few visits to the car wash or dealer to have someone attempt to open the hatchback with the car unlocked to wrench on this part and cause it to fail.most modern vehicles have a trunk release button, or keyed entry which would prevent this obvious and common failure, its common because i have seen several scion tc's with this part hangin from the hatchback and blocking view of the vehicles license plate, which in most states is an offense and a safety violation.

Driving speed limit down freeway when i heard a loud pop, almost as if a gun shot. My sunroof had completely shattered. I had it replaced and less than 3 months later the same thing happened.

I was driving down highway going 55-60mph when my moonroof exploded! it literally sounded like a bomb or gunshot overhead. The dealership says there is no recall and this is not a manufacturer issue... I'd have to disagree as i'm not the only one with this issue.

Takada recall airbags - was my car affected by this recall?

I was on my way home and as i was turning on the street to pull into my apartment complex i heard gunshot sound but no one was around and no one was on the street i pulled into my apartment complex and park my car as i was getting out of my car glass started to fall on my face i realized that my sunroof had shattered.

Apr 4, 2007 4:06 am us/pacific 3 killed in single-car crash in whittier, californiathree people were killed when a car lost control in whittier and slammed into a tree. Police said wednesday that the victims of a solo-vehicle crash in whittier that left three people dead and two others hospitalized ranged in age from 18 to their early 20s. The crash occurred about 7 p.m. Tuesday on colima road north of mar vista street, whittier police officer diana salazar said. Jennifer unzueta, albert velasquez and josh gutierrez were killed, salazar said. Unzueta was an 18-year-old whittier resident; velasquez, 19, was from whittier; and gutierrez was a 19-year-old pico rivera resident, according to the coroner's office.the driver, an 18-year-old woman identified as xenia guerra, remained hospitalized in stable condition at uci medical center, salazar said.hector saenz, in his early 20s, was airlifted to county-usc medical center, and was hospitalized in stable condition, salazar said.guerra, who had four passengers in the toyota scion, told police she lost control of the compact car. There were no witnesses, but salazar said the toyota was coming down a hill from a wilderness area when the accident occurred.it was not clear what caused the crash, but drivers often come down the hill at dangerously high speeds, salazar said. The scene was cleared around 3:10 a.m. Wednesday, whittier police sgt. A. Ruiz said.

In may 2007 i had a rear end accident with another car where my car would not stop when i put on the brake.the other car moved forward and my car still would not stop and hit it again.it finally stopped when i put it in park.it seemed to me the accelerator was overpowering the brake.it happened on two other occasions.i have taken it to the toyota dealership twice for it to investigated, once after the accident and again last year.they could not duplicate it and told me the car uses drive by wire technology and it was impossible for what i am experiencing to be occurring.now the service manager will not even return my calls.calls to toyota customer relations were met with you need to call scion customer relations and when they transfer me the call disconnects.i own a 2006 scion tc. I took the drs. Side floor mat out last summer and now with all the press and toyota saying there is nothing wrong with my car i am afraid to drive it.i owe more than it is worth, so i am finding difficulty in even replacing it.

I took a 2006 scion tc in for a mechanic to investigate the cause of a "check engine" warning light. During his test drive, the vehicle reportedly unexpectedly accelerated and raced almost out of control. Per the mechanic, feedback from toyota suggested the incidence was caused by a defective throttle body/sensor. According to the mechanic, the replacement part now offered by toyota reflects significant modifications when compared to the original equipment.

I own a scion xa,my dealer insists there is nothing wrong.the car lunges and suddenly accelerates and sometimes, it is hard to get it to slow back down the tachometer lunges past 4.i do not have floor mats.the dealer insists it is me not the car.this car accelerates suddenly and it has happened several times.something is definitely wrong with this car.one time i couldn't control the speed at all nor would the brakes work.i am not making this up.

The contact owns a 2006 toyota scion tc. While parked, the vehicle accelerated without notice. The vehicle was also moved forward while the brake pedal was depressed. The contact also stated that the throttle became stuck. The vehicle was towed to a dealer who could not diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 79,300.

2006 toyota scion.consumer writes in regards to vehicle sudden acceleration.the consumer stated she was seriously and permanently injured when the vehicle suddenly accelerated.the consumer stated she was stopped at an exit to a parking lot, when the vehicle suddenly went out of control at full speed, crossing an avenue and striking a brick wall head-on. The consumer also hit a pedestrian, who sustained a broken knee. The consumer stated she is crippled for the rest of her life. She was taken to the hospital unconscious, with a broken right hip, broken right heel, concussion, cuts and bruises. A toyota representative was unable to get any information from the black box as it was destroyed in the crash.

My 2006 scion tc was sitting at a stop sign (with the sun roof down.) and while i was sitting there the very front piece that raises up just cracked out of nowhere. Bits of glass and stuff started falling into the car.

Loud pop occurred. Upon inspection the wind deflector piece of glass was shattered with no point of impact. No road debris was observed. The glass failed.

Taking a drive on a sunny day, i had my sunroof open and all of a sudden my husband and i heard a cracking sound. When we got home, we noticed the front part or wind deflector part of sunroof was cracked. Took it to toyota and they said there must have been a pebble because the glass showed a point of impact.eard anything hit the window, it just broke. Why is something that is supposed to be a wind deflector made of glass?i never even noticed this piece of glass that pops up and now i feel vulnerable for driving in the future,. Not to mention the almost $500.00 that it will cost me to fix this friday. This should be a warranted item or it should be made of a plastic material. I saw many complaints like mine. I believe it shattered from the wind just like the many complaints that i read. I loved my scion tc and now i am disenchantment with this car.

Defective windshield on 2006 scion xb. The windshield is extremely prone to chips and has acquired at least a dozen in routine driving situations. Now there is a long squiggled crack across the drivers side windshield, not related to any chips. I have seen the same exact distinctive crack in other scion xb cars. My vehicle does not qualify for the class action settlement related to this defect because of high mileage, even though the defects surfaced when it was brand new.

I was driving 65 mph down rt 55 in new jersey. Suddenly i hear glass shattering and glass rains down on my head. The moon roof in my toyota scion tc exploded for no apparent reason. Toyota says its not a defect and they wont fix it. I have to pay 2000 dollars to get it fixed. I don't have this money and glass should not explode for no reason. Not to mention i could have crashed my car and sustained bodily injury.

I was driving with my sunroof open. I heard a loud pop followed by a piece of the glass deflector shield fell into my vehicle, hitting me on the head. I stopped and looked at my sunroof and saw a spiderweb like crack on the wind deflector with no point of impact. There is a recall on this part as i am told by a dealership, scion's corporate office, and online. The recall id is 50s. Even though there is a recall that describes exactly what happened to my vehicle, and it is a definite safety issue in regards to the part, i am being told that because my vin number was not included that they will not cover the cost of replacing the part. I put in a complaint and do have a case number for it if needed for investigation.

I was driving my 2006 toyota scion tc on interstate i-95n going about 70mph when my sunroof exploded and shattered. Glass came raining down on myself and my passenger and also hit the car directly behind me.

I went to roll up my driver side window and it came off track. When safelite came out to repair it the guy said the track was completely twisted and another part was bent. He said most likely it was a manufacturers problem. I then took my car to a body shop to have it looked at and the guy there said he's never seen anything like this and was going call toyota and scion to see if there were any silent recalls. A new door would cost about 745 and i refuse to pay for it and want it fixed for free.

I was driving on i10 (speed limit of 70) and heard a loud noise then a lot of wind. My sunroof had shattered.

As traveling down the freeway on way to work, i heard a sound that was similar to a gunshot or explosion of some kind. Glass started to fly in my face and all over the car barely missing my eye. It cut my arm and hand. The injury was not serious, my wife said if she had been driving she probably would have crashed when it happened. When i got home i called the both the dealership that sold me the car and toyota headquarters in torrance. They asked me what i wanted and i said i just want it fixed they told me they would give me a good price to fix it, but it is not covered under any warranty. John got back to me a few days later and said that i could take it down to the dealership andhave it fixed, pay for it myself and then toyota would think about it. That's not acceptable. I work hard for my money and trust that a cars moonroof isn't going to explode while i'm driving it. From the other complaints, this doesn't seem to be a rare occurance. If a piece of glass had landed in my eye, i would have surely gone blind.

I was driving to work one day and my 06 scion tc wind deflector glass shattered into pieces all over the inside of the vehicle. I immediately pulled over. I later called toyota and they said they had a recall on the wind deflector for 06 scion tc's but it didn't apply to my vehicle. They will not pay to fix the problem. I have even contacted corporate. Researching this, this same exact issue has happened to hundreds of other people.

The contact owns a 2006 toyota scion tc.the contact stated that the sun roof glass window deflector shattered without impact to the vehicle. The dealer was notified of the failure and they advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in the recall for an unknown reason. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

I was driving home from work in my 2006 scion tc at approximately 5:30 pm. Going 60 mph when all of a sudden my rear sunroof window exploded.it sounded like a gun shot and ended up cracking the entire window, sending pieced flying behind me. I had the rear cover closed, so no debris was able to enter the vehicle. I just purchased the vehicle used from a dealership saturday afternoon and this incident happened monday afternoon. I took the vehicle back to the dealership and they said that i may have to pay to get it fixed. I do not agree with this, and something needs to be done about this issue since it seems to be occurring to numerous people. Also, i was not driving under an overpass and there was no sign of any object hitting the glass. It just simply shattered.

I could hear the salesman, you have to fix it!its a brand new car!the service rep finally came to my car and said we will fix it this time but if you drive away and it happens again then we wont because this car is not under the recall because the laminate has already been put on the car.i had no idea , he explained that the recall is to stop the shattered glass from coming into the car and injuringpassengers or causing the driver to have an accident but that still can happen and big pieces of glass can fall in.i cried, i take my grandson (2) onweekends & he loves the sun roof.service mgr said only thing i can do is leave the sun roof closed or trade in the car!italked to manager of sales & he said call toyota because he only sells the car he does not design them! now i have to trade a 1 month old car in or chance glass falling in my eyes while driving or injuring my family. I spent extra for side airbags sofamily would be safe & now they're afraid.i leftthe car @ dealershipthey wanted me to test drive acorolla, they will give me 16,000, i paid 18,500.i called toyota scion, they didn't call me back today they said they would, i have no choice, because i wont let a new car hurt my family.they tell me the same thing can happen the very next day!

Wind deflector for moonroof shattered. Was going 25 mph in residential area. Was not hit by any object, rocks, etc.. No one was near me or in front or back. Other complaints found at www.scionlife.com

Driving 70 mph on the highway, no vehicles within sight in front of me, and no one to the side.my scion tc sunroof exploded.it was louder than a shotgun. I almost swerved off the road it scared me that bad.this was not the wind deflector it was the sunroof itself.i was doing some investigating and i know this has happened to others just by looking on a forum.i don't have a repair cost yet or even know if toyota is going to cover it.

Around 5:40 am i was driving on the highway to work on a clear day at 60 mph i had the a/c on and the front window cracked. When all a sudden i heard a pop fromthe sun roof, and the sound of glass shattering. I had no idea what happened. I luckily had the cover pulled closed so the glass pieces didn't fall on my head. I took picture of the damage. Also, i was not going under an under pass. I just don't see how a rock big enough could of hit it without me seeing it. Something needs to be done about these sun roofs before someone gets hurt.

The contact owns a 2006 scion tc. While driving approximately 65 mph, the sun roof exploded and the glass shattered without impact or warning. There were no injuries. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

I was driving to work at approximately 8:30 in the morning at around 70 mph on hwy 40 in st. Louis when my sunroof exploded. The actual sunroof exploded and not the wind deflector. The sunroof was fully closed and the wind deflector was as well.i keep the sunroof cover open most of the time so i get more light into the car and as a result glass rained down into my car.upon inspection, i found that the glass of the sunroof was completely shattered and did not crack like a spider-web, but like someone had set a bomb off on top of it.the wind deflector was undamaged.i contacted my dealer and they were very accusatory and said a rock or other debris must have broken it.i still fail to see how a rock big enough to shatter the glass like it did got by me with me seeing it.if a huge rock was bouncing in the middle of the road, i would have definitely seen it.another thing that made that claim ridiculous was the fact that there were no large trucks or otherwise carrying anything within sight at the time it happened.sunroof glass breakage.pco

I was going down the highway and my sunroof shattered.nothing was done to correct the failure.i was told it was simply a road hazard and it was no big deal that my insurance would pay for it.

The moonroof in my 2006 scion shattered as i was driving down the highway. There was no impact from any item that caused this defect. I have filed a formal complaint with scion; reference # 200609141416.*note* the wind deflector is in the up position as if the moon roof was retracted, yet, the roof was closed when this happened. I am scheduled to take the vehicle by the scion dealership tomorrow.

I owned a scion tc 2006. I bought it on jan 10, 2006. Few weeks ago, i started to notice and hear a rattle noise on the roof area. On may 4, 2006 while driving on the highway @ a speed of 55 mph. The moon roof snapped and shattered. The glass chunks fell into the driver and passenger, kind of like a glass chunks rains that actually may cut you. We were covered in glass. I lost control of the car, due to frighten and glass all over, swirled left and right. I'm so fortunate that i didn't harmed anyone next to me or other drivers on the road. I'm really worry about driving such car. There is no warning to the buyer when such purchase was made by the dealer or the company. I hope you will take a serious action fast before an innocent person life is taken. Please help. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my complaint. Please help. If you have any questions, please send me an email.email reply on may 18, 2006 confirmed that it was the sun/moon roof (not the wind deflector) that shattered.

I brought my car to the dealership that i purchased it from, only two weeks earlier, and they said that i had to pay for it. The part is $568. The dealership also charged me $70 just to close my sunroof. It is still broke because i cannot afford the part.

I was driving north on garden state parkway at about 70 mph in my 06 scion tc when my moon roof exploded. All windows (including the moon roof) were closed at the time. The moon roof completely failed (falling glass debris) in a half moon shape in the middle front. The wind deflector popped up but was not damaged. Glass blew violently throughout the inside of the car and i almost lost control since traffic was busy tonight. Paint finish on trunk and rear bumper was blasted by the debris. Car is currently sitting at gateway toyota (toms river, nj).

I currently own the 2006 scion tc, in which this incident is regarding nhtsa action number pe06024. My stationary glass panel section of my scion tc's moonroof has been shattered by no physical contact to the glass. As i was opening the trunk to my car, the moonroof began to crack, spidering and completely shattering the glass. I brought the car to toyotaaround 12 hours after the incident, in which toyota is currently investigating this issue. However, i wanted to report this incident to you, considering this is clearly a defect in the scion tc's design. The scion tc that i own is barely three months old with 3700 miles to it, so i am hoping this complaint will get back to toyota and repair my car.
