Front end of 2007 saturn vue awd hit rear end of 2005 dodge 1500 on his tow hitch.impact speed estimated at 20mph.whole front end was crushed inward in a v-shape because of the tow hitch.the front driver side airbag did not activate, allowing the driver to hit the steering wheel on their forehead.taken to er by ambulance for check up.car towed away.why didn't the airbag go off?police officer said that some airbags do go off, and some don't go off.seems like the airbag should have been activated unless there was a defect or some other extenuating circumstances (which i don't see).damage amount estimated by insurer at $6666.44.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn vue.the contact was driving 45 mph when he crashed into another vehicle that abruptly stopped. The air bags did not deploy and the seat belt did not retract.the contact was injured and transported to the hospital.a police report was filed of the incident. The vehicle was destroyed.neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure.the failure and the current mileage was 116,000.
My son currently drives this vehicle and he mentioned that the key will come of the ignition with the engine inthe running mode. This has happened several times and i have brought it to the gm customer service rep that handles the gm ignition recalls. I was advised that the vin number does not fall in the recall list and was advised to take the vehicle to a gm dealer and have it repaired out of pocket expense .
The contact owns a 2005 saturn vue. While the vehicle was parked in the driveway, the passenger door air bag and the driver's side door air bags inadvertently deployed without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer (central buick gmc of norwood, 70 boston providence hwy, norwood, ma 02062; (781) 473-0908) stated that the contact would have to pay for the repair since the vin was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000. The vin was not available.
I was driving on the freeway when my saturn vue's key fell out of the ignition. There is nothing on my key ring but they key and the keyless remote. I was able to re-insert the key and regain steering control. When this happened, it moved from the "run" position to the "acc" position and locked my steering column. The engine also shut off. I see that the 2002-2004 saturn vue has already been recalled for this dangerous defect that has already caused numerous confirmed fatalities and need to point out that according to general motors, the 2005-2007 saturn vue's have the exact same part number ignition cylinder and switch. I am able to remove my key while driving at any time without pressure, and have been able to replicate the vehicle going into "acc" mode whilst moving. This is unacceptable that you will recall earlier model years, but not every vehicle with the same defective part.
Driving northbound on highway 116. Vehicle in front of mestarted to slow down and slightly pulled off to the right of the highway. At the time before the car in front of me started to slow down i had the cruise control set at 70 mph when the car in front of me started to slow down.i slowed down to about 60-65 mph and pulled off the road slightly. There was a semi truck traveling south bound on the highway i thought either there was something in the road ahead of the car in front of me or the truck was in our lane. The roads were dry and the sun was coming up. As i began to come back on the road my right front tire was feeling wobbly and i either hit the curb on the bridge or a piece of metal causing me to lose control of the vehicle. I ran head on to the southbound side of the bridge then started spinning and hitting the bridge several times. I finally ended up back on the northbound side of the bridge about 3/4 of the way down the bridge. With my front end hitting that side of the bridge. What concerns me is that my air bags never deployed in the vehicle and i sustained neck, shoulder and right knee injuries. At this time the vehicle is at a local body shop with the insurance, and company that makes the vehicle investigates the damage. I have filed a complaint with saturn letting them know that i believe that this is a product defect.
(1) air bags-i was involved in a multiple-vehicle accident caused by black ice in dec, 2005 and not one of the airbags deployed.this was concerning.(2) brakes-from day one, when it rains, my brakes sound like an old person trying to move.(3) ignition-too many times to mention. When i would put the key in the ignition and try to start the car, it wouldn't move and i'd have to jolt the "frozen" steering wheel to finally get the key to turn/car to start.(4) i've seen both the brakes & ignition issues in other people's posts.just wanted to put this out there for information's sake.otherwise, the car's been great to me.10 years old, only 47k miles on it and i just recently had to replace the battery for the first time ever.
Was driving to work and we had a lite snow the night before. I hit a slick spot on highway and lost control of the car and hit a telephone poll. The car is now totaled, the front end was completely torn off, drivers seat broke, windshield shattered and was partially on the dash. The airbag did not deploy. This resulted in a head concussion, torn right shoulder and badly bruised knees along with minor cuts to hands and face. Theman who towed it away also wondered about this. I'm wondering if there was a recall that i haven't been able to find on my 2005 saturn vue?
Takata recall my family and i were in a roll over accident on august 20th 2019 our airbags did not deploy at impact. We were in motion going 60mph on cournty road 799 going towards george west tx when my vehicle was headed towards a covert and jerked the wheel to the left to avoid the ditch but the steering wheel jerked back to the right sending us on the 2 side passenger wheels and then rolling over 3 times i blacked out and when we stopped the air bags still didnt deploy.
My daughter was driving through the target parking lot in humble texas when side airbags deployed without an apparent reason. In previous minor accidents no airbags deployed.car now has issues with damaged headliner and other expensive parts without a collision therefore i appear to be out the most to repair and to be frank and relatively certain tat vehicle may be worthless due to the deployment of the safety gear.
I crashed the front end and no air bags.
Dt*:the contact stated while traveling 40 mph with prior braking, the vehicle hit another head on.the entire front end was damaged and the airbags did not deploy.a police report was taken at the scene.the vehicle was towed to an auto body shop.the manufacturer sent a representative to inspect the vehicle and it was inconclusive on whether or not the airbags should have deployed.
Dt*:the contact stated while driving 35 mph the vehicle crashed and the air bags deployed but did not inflate.the front of the vehicle was the point of impact in the crash.the contact rear ended another vehicle.there were 2 occupants in the vehicle, both were wearing seat belts did not tighten to keep contact and passenger from hitting the steering wheel or dashboard.the contact sustained neck, back, chest and tooth injuries. Passenger suffered from b urns from material that came out of the air bags, and sustainedchest, back and leg and back injuries from hitting dashboard. A police report was taken.
As enteringthe intersection of hwy 173 and bi pass 534.other vehicle turned left in front of me. I had the green light.my daughterwas driving my 2005 saturn vue. We were going between 40 and 50 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone. The front center to the left front corner collided with the other vehicle.the air bags did not deploy.the insurance companysaid sometimes they just don't.at the seen of the accident the emt told me i should get out of the car if i was able to. Because the air bags might still deploy, as they have been known to do so before.the insurance company refuses to pay for new air bags.stating that there is no danger of them unexpectedly deploying.my complaint is that the air bags did not deploy and they might unexpectedly.
Took my car into the shop for the second time in three years to get the ignition fixed.i could pull the key out when the car was running and it became increasingly difficult to turn the key to turn on the car it got topoint where it would not turn and wore the key down. As i stated - this is the second incident for this issue and it is not a cheap fix.
While driving i put my hand on the ignition key and it came out in my hand.i thought that the key may be worn, so i used my spare and after about a month it did the same thing. It has not caused any safety issues, but it may cause other problems.
Key wont turn in ignition.bought new key but problem has continued. Car is off and in park when this happens.
Key falls out when driving.hard to turn car off and on.have had car turn off after going over a speed bump after the key fell out.locked up the steering and brakes. Went to the dealership and they gave me an estimate of $600 to replace the ignition cylinder.all these symptoms are exactly what the symptoms are for the cars that have been recalled in the past few months. Please make them include saturn vue, as the part is the same that's been recalled on the ion.
My car has the abs system light on, and there are tons of people with this problem! i have almost gone off the road tons of times when the roads have barely any snow or ice on them, and this is seriously a common problem that should have a recall! the abs system on the saturn vues seems to go out all the time, which causes other problems, malfunctioning breaks, bearing degeneration too! i need to constantly change the breaks and now i need new bearings. My car only has 84k miles on it!!! and with my car, my transmission is also going out and that started at 60,000, miles and now its giving me real problems too! so the saturn vue 2005 awd v6 car i have... Has a common problem of cheap abs system parts going bad, and bad transmissions! both need to be recalled, and addressed by gm.

Key will come out of ignition while driving vehicle.the key is not locked into ignition at all.
Due to problems inserting and removing ignition key, i had the key cylinder replaced. The cost was $254.04.this was the same problem gm replaced the key cylinder on my 2006 saturn ion under the recall at no cost to me.i contacted gm through their recall website and they informed me there was no recall or compensation for my 2005 saturn with exactly the same problem as in the national recall on my ion.this is my complaint.
On several occasions since dec 2013, the key would eject from the ignition switch before it is completely turned to the off position. Once this happens, the key would need to be forced back into the ignition switch to activate the switch by forcing to turn on the ignition and then carefully turning it back to the off position to successfully eject the key. Most recently on march 1st, 2014, while driving, my hand accidentally hit the key and the key fell out of the ignition switch while the car was traveling at about 45mph.
My key can be removed from the ignition when i am driving.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn vue. The contact stated that the ignition would lock and he could not turn to start the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who replaced the ignition housing and ignition switch.the manufacturer was contacted and informed him that due to the age and the mileage on the vehicle, they would not reimburse him for the repairs and offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was 93,000.
Key can be removed from ignition in the on position when in motion
Ignition tumbler does not work appropriately and key is easily removed when car is on and when car is turned off it has been very difficult to turn to the on position to start the car.last week after turning the car off, the ignition tumbler failed to operate in the proper manner when attempting to restart the vehicle.i have been stuck in the vehicle many times fiddling with the key to,try to start the vehicle.this lack of function caused an entire saturday afternoon, a tow to dealership for repair, inconvenienced me for three days with no vehicle and a very expensive repair.only to find out that it wasn't covered under warranty because of the year, when this clearly has been an issue with saturn vues for the preceding years.
After initial start, the car key can be removed from the ignition switch and the motor continues to run. To switch off the motor, the key must be reinserted as usual. There is no resistance in removing the key while the motor is running.
The key can be removed from the ignition when the vehicle is in drive.i contacted gm on june 19, 2014 at 1 800 222 1020 and talked to a customer service representative and she indicated the vin is not part of the recall, but i could take the vehicle to a gm dealership but the repair would most likely not be covered.i let her know that is not acceptable since it appears to be the same problem that the saturn ions are experiencingwhich are part of the recall. Why aren't the 2005 saturn vue's part of the recall?it appears from reading other vue's owner complaints that this is an issue.
Since i have had my 2005 saturn vue i have had problems. My shifting linkage has gone our several times.leaving me in whatever gear i'm in.this had happened on the freeway at 65mph three (3) times! coming down a hill at 50mph my transmission shifted from 5th to 2nd! that blew my clutch! ($2000) my linkage was fixed (theoretically) by three dealerships which did not last.one only six (6) months! my 5th gear and reverse disappeared in march of 2014 ($1600) then again my linkage cables wouldn't work ($448) and i had them replaced.finally my shifting fork for three (3) gears had to be replaced, that was another $336!on top of all this my ignition, after a year of owning this car, i bought it new, my key would fall out if my knee hit it.while the engine was running! if i turned the key to the locked position it would take severaljiggles to get it to turn to the right! when i took itthe last two (2) for transmission fixes the shop could not start the car!i had to bicycle 3 miles to the shop to get it started! the shifting linkage, transmission and key have always been a problem!i am thinking of suing gm!
Dashboard fire. The vehicle was stationary for two and half hours before it was noticed the dashboard was on fire.
Ignition will not start the engine key appears to be stuck.the key can be easily removed from the ignition while the car?s engine is on.i have had to play with the key for up to five minutes in order to start the car.
I was looking at the recent recalls for saturn and noticed many other customers with the key falling out of the ignition. Like everyone else this has been a long time sufferance and the shop offered no solution only spray with wd 40. Both key do the same and again no extra weight has been added to the key apart from the door lock.
We can easily pull the key from the ignition while the car is running. We have a 2005 saturn vue which needs to be added to the recall. This has been going on for years but i just listed the latest date and time. We can pull out the key at any time.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn vue. The contact stated that the ignition switch would not release the vehicle key however, the key could be removed when the vehicle was in motion. The manufacturer was contacted and advised that the vehicle was not included in any recall campaigns. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for repairs. The approximate mileage at the time of failure was 83,000.updated 9/29/14
The ignition key became very hard to turn on i had to wiggle key around to finally get it to turn.since that time the key has to be wiggled around every time you want to start the vehicle.also the key can be pulled out without shutting the vehicle off.if you are not careful to turn the ignition switch completely off before removing the key it is very difficult to get the key slot realigned in order to place the key into the ignition.the key has also fallen out of the ignition while driving.
The key can be removed from the ignition when the ignition is not in the "off" position. There was a recall (#14v490000 on 08/08/2014) for 2002-2004 saturn vue vehicles manufactured september 11, 2001, to april 6, 2004, however, i have a 2005 saturn vue that has the exact same problem and there is no recall or remedy available.
The key can be removed from the ignition while the vehicle is running or not in the off position. The vehicle can be stationary or moving. It has been doing this for months.
I can remove the key from the ignition while the car is still running. Also, there are times the ignition will physically not turn so that i can crank the vehicle.
The car suffered an ignition module failure that resulted in $1700.00 worth of damage to the exhaust system. Only two of the four cylinders were firing. This defect has been noted by saturn vue owners as early as in the 2002 models. My husband, an electrical engineer, said that the defect was due to bad engineering that could have been corrected. My suspicion leaned toward "planned obsolescence" since many vue owners had complained about this very same "malfunction". I contacted both saturn and gm hq to legally file my complaint as well. Extra note: two other people in my family had experienced the exact same problem with their saturns around 60,000 miles. One had it repaired (out-of-pocket) over a year ago and now has the same ignition module failure at 67,000 miles.
Ignition switch is faulty, and has been for some time. Sometimes the key will turn, other times it jams and will not allow the key to turn. My mechanic had two new factory keys made last summer as he was certain it was the keys, though i did not believe it and it certainly has nothing to do with the keys. My mechanic is now checking on getting another saturn vue ignition switch (has has my vin). My mechanic has said (last summer and still now) that he believes this was a recall item on saturn.
The key became increasingly difficult to turn the car on. I had to jiggle for some time to get it to work. These times have become much more frequent and more difficult to turn the key. I was also able to remove the key once it was started and the car continued to run. I found this out by chance and now it just slides in and out when running!!! well it finally happened and no matter how hard or how many times i have tried, the key won't work at all. I will have to have it towed in the morning to have this fixed now.
The ignition lock cylinder on my vehicle has been having issues since i bought it. The key will fall out while driving at any speed while the engine is running. After i am stopped and parked, the ignition lock cylinder seizes up and will not allow me to remove key until after i have almost exhausted all options to get it out, ie. Shaking keys, banging on ignition housing, and finally having to use force and almost breaking the key off in the ignition cylinder lock. After leaving it parked over night and the next day trying to start my car, the key is hard to get into the cylinder and hard to turn it to the run position, but you can take the key out at anytime it's in the run position. I have read thousands of complaints online about this ignition cylinder lock issue the same as i am having, and believe this to be a major problem with the 2005 saturn vue's manufactured by general motors. Please advise as this is one heck of a costly repair of over 300 us dollars to replace the ignition system. If you will take the time to research this issue and check with gm dealers on the numbers of vehicles they have replaced the ignition cylinder lock on the saturn vue's i am sure you will find a huge pattern defectiveness .my neighbor is a mechanic and she says she's done tons of them over the years on this vehicle in the aftermarket field of mechanic work. She's the one that suggested i contact your organization with the problem. She has done research of internet forums and found thousands of complaints and also on websites that link up to your organization.
Saturn vue with sporadic electronic failure. Consumer states that the failure consists of the brake lights and gauges going to zero. Also when the lights malfunction the power steering is decreased or stops completely.
My key came out of the ignition while in drive and the car didn't shut off.since then it is difficult to get the key to turn the ignition.the key needs to be wiggled and played with to turn the car on every time i want to start it.the 2005 vue needs to be added to the recall.
Anti theft device on my 2005 saturn vue disables the vehicle while driving.
Keys get stuck in ignitionnot alwaysintermittent and for no reason5 times since i have had the car.
Key can be taken out of ignition while driving and the car still be on and running and or being driven.at any time after starting the car the key can taken out and it not affect the running of the car at all.it also is hard to turn the key to start the car.you have to wiggle the key around before it recognizes the key and then it will finally turn to be able to start the car.
On my 2005 saturn vue, the key can be pulled out of the switch in the run position, and also the switch is getting very hard to turn to start or to shut off.
The key gets stuck in the ignition and will not come out.other times it falls out of ignition while car is driving down the road.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn vue. While driving approximately 55 mph, the key fell out of the ignition independently but the engine continued to run. The contact maneuvered to the emergency lane where the vehicle was shut off. The contact was able to restart the vehicle, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. The vin was not available.
Wife removed key from ignition while the ignition was in the on position.
Key comes out of the ignition when the car is running. Why isn't there a recall?
While driving between 30 and 40 mph the vehicle experiences a vibration in the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was allegedly repaired by a gm dealer at no charge. The problem was not resolved. At least 4 other attempts to have gm repair the vehicle were refused by gm dealers even after the repair bulletin was extended into 2015. Not satisfied i contacted someone at gm and asked for a referral to another dealer in my local area. I received it and took it the referred dealer and explained the situation. After inspecting the car they acknowledged the vibration issue but said that before anything could be done the engine block mounts had to be replaced at a cost of approx. $1000. I thanked them and took the car to my trusted regular mechanic. I asked him to check the engine mounts (without telling him what happened at the gm dealer) and give me a report. Upon inspecting, he stated there was absolutely nothing wrong with the engine mounts. At this point, frustrated and angry with gm, i basically gave up. Furthermore, this occurred at the time of the gm ignition switch recall debacle.our saturn vue also has a problem with the ignition.on multiple occasions we were not able to remove the ignition key from the ignition switch without pliers and a lot of time. It took over an hour on several occasions to remove the key. We found information online where gm acknowledged there was a problem with the vue ignition switches, but several attempts to have the switch replaced resulted in refusals by gm dealers. Ithought this was odd given the huge recall of ignition switches by gm at the time. We basically received the same treatment concerning the rear end powertrain vibration after the initial repair even though the maintenance bulletin extended the repair period. There was an alternate repair if the first repair failed, but the dealer wouldn't honor it.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn vue. The contact stated that while driving, the ignition key was able to be ejected. The contact also stated that when the ignition switch was turn to the off position, the electrical functions in the vehicle would remain on, even with the key removed from the ignition.the vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.
First occurrence - july 21, 2008 at 35734 miles: the ignition key could not be removed after it was turned to the off position nor could it be turned to the accessory or start position.saturn of troy, mi replaced the housing, ignition cylinder and keys. Cost was covered by warranty.2nd occurrence - june 21, 2011 at 57550 miles: repeat of 1st occurrence.suburban cadillac buick of troy, mi replaced the ignition cylinder and keys.since i had purchased a extended warranty, my cost was $100.00.3rd occurrence - september 28, 2012 at 63,597miles: intermittently ignition key would not release from the ignition switch without a lot of jiggling and force.technician at suburban cadillac buick stated that we were not turning the key far enough to release it from the ignition.no action was taken at that time. 4th occurrence - november 3, 2014 at 75778 miles:after hearing a report concerning a gm recallfor vehicles which allowed removing the ignition key while the engine is running, i attempted and was able to do this on my vue. I went to suburban cadillac buick where the technician conformed that this was a fact.he checked the vin against the recall data base and informed me that vue was not on the list but that i should have the repair made.the parts had to be ordered and the repair was made on december 15, 2014.the ignition lock cylinder and (2) keys were required.total cost: $330.36.
The key will no longer turn in the ignition. It's as if i am using the wrong key entirely. It has stranded me numerous times.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn vue. While driving at an unknown speed, the key ejected from the ignition switch independently and the engine continued to run. The contact was able to shut off the vehicle and restart it; however, the failure persisted and recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 97,000.
Starting approx 3 years and 30k miles ago the ignition switch would not tightly hold the key in the cylinder. Approx 2 years ago the ignition key with connected key ring fell out of the ignition lock cylinder and onto the vehicle floor but the vehicle continued to run and act normally. When we arrived at our destination i turned the ignition switch to off without using the key and the vehicle shut off and the column locked. We now drive the car with only the ignition key and small key ring attached to minimize any weight on the key. ..updated 06/09/14 updated 06/12/2014
Stiff ignition switch right from day 1 when car was new,key does not fall out but jams, also front strut sqeek and creek, sounds like a 100 year old wagon, suppose there was a recall for strut tower bushing,i was charged $410 for the repair in 2005,if anything made it worse,i hardly drove this car it has 81000 km,approx 48000 miles, curious the hatch lock has always been stiff as well and the key gets stuck, sounds to me like a lock problem from the start, did gm outsource the locks like toyota did with the gas pedals?
Ignition cylinder - key can come out when not in "off" position. For now, it's just happening when parked and draining the battery, but it's unsafe
Air conditioning system stopped working. Electronic switch will not turn on blower motor for heat or cold. Causing it not to work and my car not able to drive in humid or raining conditions. Failure has not been corrected.
Overall for last several years, ignition key can be removed from the lock cylinder while the engine is running.also will sometimes jam and not allow the removal of the key without resetting the lock cylinder to the lock position.this is the same problem that gm has issued recall# 14506 for 2003 saturn vue's.contact with gm dealer confirms the problem.gm executive customer relations refuses to offer assistance for repair due to the fact that this vehicle is not part of the recall and the age and mileage on the vehicle.i believe that the above recall#14506 should be extended to cover 2005 saturns as well.
After a year of complaints both here and to gm with videos proving my saturn vue 2005 had the ignition switch issue, saturn finally recalled it. Myself and others have gotten the notice however it came in a white envelope with black writing that looked similar to junk mail. Also i see it is not noted on your page. Gm has confirmed the recall when i contacted them. Why are they not following recall protocol? why is it not listed on your page?
We have had trouble with the ignition since we've had it.at first we couldn't get the key out of ignition, had to jiggle steering column to remove key. Had the ignition switch cleaned.now key just falls out of ignition while running.it's difficult to get anyone's attention on this matter since saturn is no longer available.rohrmans in lafayette, in. Use to take care of our problems with it, when saturn went out g.m. Directed us to defouws in lafayette.we had a 2003 saturn before and had no problems with it, so please help us with this problem.thank you: [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Had key in ignition car was running in the on position and i was able to pull the key out.
It is difficult/close to impossible to get the key out of the ignition, or to even turn it all of the way to the "off" position.the key is easily removed if the car is still running.
I was leaving work, i entered my car, put the key into the ignition and attempted to turn the key. The key would not turn. The ignition was locked and there was no unlocking it. I called several tow companies as this had happened a year earlier and a tow company came out, sprayed the ignition with wd-40 and it turned right away. I tried the wd-40 before calling the tow company and it did nothing. When the tow truck arrived, he had made a statement that he had seen this a lot with these suv's. He got the key into the auxiliary position and hit it the key with the hard end of a butt of a knife. This made the ignition slip to the "on" position. I could then turn the key and start the truck. I do not have the money to have this ignition replaced. I feel that this ignition should be replaced as just because it has not had an accident yet, there is obviously a defect with this ignition. The steering column was locked until the key could be turned to the "on" position. I have to leave the key in the ignition at this time so, that i can start the truck and get to work. I am told it will be close to $300 to repair this defect!.
The key can be pulled out while the car is running. I did this by accident about 2 years ago. It has happened several times since. I just read the article about the current gm recall in the usa today newspaper. I'm not concerned about it being a safety issue as i understand it. I try not to pull it out anymore as i think that would loosen it up more. I don't think it ever goes out of the run condition. I did feel though that gm may have excluded my vehicle (the saturn vue's) even though i felt they had similar/same parts as the ones in the recall campaigns. I believe there are several oem's (if not all when the vehicle gets old) that have this issue and i also believe that it is not a real safety issue. The customer knows they have an issue which makes them share on the liability.
The key became very difficult to turn the ignition on. I used the second key and it worked better for a few years but is becoming a problem again. I do not have anything heavy hanging from the ignition key. I also discovered that the ignition key can be removed while the vehicle is running.
Key gets stuck in ignition and will keep car running. Sometimes won't even turn car on with the correct key. Takes over 5 mins each time jiggling key to get key cylinder to turn over to start the vehicle. This happens on a daily occurrence and has not seemed to get any better .
Ignition will not unlock with key. The key will not turn ignition to start car. Sometimes after shaking key up to 15 minutes the key will finally turn and car will start.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn vue.the contact stated that the ignition failed to turn when attempting to start the vehicle.the ignition key needed to be manipulated several times before the vehicle finally started.there were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel.the key detached from the ignition and landed on the contact's lap while the vehicle was in motion.the contact parked the vehicle and removed the key from the ignition, but the engine was still running.the key was reinserted and manipulated several times before the vehicle was able to be shut off.the failure occurred consistently.the manufactured was notified.the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired.the failure mileage was 100,000.
Faulty ignition!needs to be included in the gm recall!!!i am not certain on the dates of the incidents or the mileage- that is all on file at merit chevrolet in st. Paul, mn - i placed this information in the form because it is required in order to submit - i can retrieve the dates of service and mileage if needed otherwise, the repairs are filed!!!the ignition switch locks up - unable to turn the key to start the vehicle.takes great manipulation (jiggling) to get it to turn.eventually, completely locks and must be towed to repair.only have 1 car key and 2 house keys on the ring.have had new keys cut.ignition still fails and it is getting ready to fail again!key has also come out of the ignition while vehicle is running - same issue with gm ignition involved in recalls.ignition has been replaced under warranty at minimum ....2 times through merit chevrolet on hwy 94 & century/120 in st paul mn.may have been a third replacement at another repair shop at owner's cost - looking for the receipt and location for that.the ignition is getting ready to fail again.the 2005 saturn vue needs to be included in the current gm recall!!!

The ignition on this car keeps locking up..i have taken it to a dealer thinking there was a recall for this. I would love an opportunity to talk to someone about this.
This is an ongoing problem that has occurred multiple times. The 2005 saturn vue has the same ignition switch problem that gm is addressing in their current recall. However, this car is not listed as part of the recall. When the vehicle is in drive at any speed, the switch can turn easily into accessory mode. This turns off the engine and also disables multiple safety features (power steering, power brakes, and airbags). The situation this creates is extremely dangerous. Additionally, the key itself is able to slip out of the ignition while the engine is running with the car in drive. This too can happen at any speed.despite numerous reports from consumers it appears this model has not been included in the recall as it rightfully should...updated 06/09/14updated 06/12/2014

On july 23, 2005, i had the oil seal replaced.the vue had been leaking oil in my garage and other places when i parked. Ihad to replace the ignition switch on two occasions and was almost unable to get the key to turn.sometimes took up to 20 minutes or so. On july 22, 2006 i had the air conditioning condenser and seal replaced.it was over 100 degrees.i had to get a rental for this repair.this took several days because the mechanic took my car apart, thought it was repaired, but was not, i was told.second day of car rental, i was told they ordered the part, but they "sent the wrong part".finally, on the third day, i was told that the car had to be taken apart again to be repaired.i rented a car for three days. On august 6, 2006, i went to leave to pick up my son, the vue was in my garage and there was no clutch.i had to call saturn roadside assistance and have my car towed to saturn of henderson.on august 7, 2006, i had the clutch cylinder, concentric slave replaced. On monday, december 18, 2006, i was taking my son to the airport to be with his father for the christmas holiday in michigan.i was attempting to back out of the garage, but could not put the vehicle into reverse.we pushed the car out of the garage.i drove very carefully (a bit concerned thinking it may breakdown) because i was concerned about the possible dangers involved, but had to get my son to the airport on time.i pulled off of the 215 when at that off ramp, all of my gears were suddenly gone.the cables snapped inside and i could not go anywhere, causing me to once again, call saturn roadside assistance, have the 2005 vehicle towed away again, my son missed his flight to michigan and i had to miss part of a work day and again rent another car.
On august 22, 2014, the ignition switch on my 2005 saturn vue failed and would not allow car key entry to start the car.i had to have aaa tow the car on a flatbed truck.i contacted general motors regarding their recent ignition switch recall (dated 08/11/14) and explained the car's problem.gm informed me that my 2005 saturn vue was not included in their recall list, and therefore, they could not help me.i contacted the only gm dealership in ri to see if they could help.the manager told me that if the ignition is defective, gm would cover the cost of repair or replacement.however, if it is determined to be the result of normal "wear and tear," i would have to assume responsibility for repair.the dealership would not be able to diagnose the problem until sometime next week.i believe that my 2005 saturn should have been included in the ignition switch recall.is there a way that this can be done?[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The security system resets it's self very often. I throttles the speed randomly and when you finally get stationary it locks up the fuel so there is no way to start the car untill you do the relearn process which takes 30 min or longer and your lucky if that works. Yes this has all happened to me. I've owned the car for 3 days now and last time it was driving was the day i brought it home after buying it.
Driving to maryland from charlotte nc. I was on the hwy going approx. 65. Car completely shut off, no noise, no warning. As the car slowed down, i coasted to the side of the hwy to a stop. Looked down at the gear shift, it was in drive. The ignition was in the on position. I put on the break and put the car in park and shut off the ignition. Waiting a few seconds, i turned the key. The car started up and the chime went off. It was the chime that the car makes when you open the door and the keys are still in the ignition.( a series of quick dings) i didn't open the door. All i did was start the car up. I continued, no problem. The same thing happened again on saturday november 29th, 2014 on the highway going around the same speed. The car jerked slightly and shut off. This time it was at night. I coasted to the exit that was coming up. Had trouble steering because the steering went out, head lights dimmed. Car slowly came to a stop at the top of the exit. Same situation. Ignition on, car in drive. I put my foot on the break and put the car in park and turned the ignition off. Turned the ignition back on. Car started up and the chime that goes off if you open up the door with the keys still in the ignition, went off again. The same as before.
While driving 45 mph, the crankshaft pulley on front of engine partially separated from it's hub, causing a drive belt mis-allignment of the pulleys for crankshaft, alternator, and air conditioner.this caused the drive belt running of these pulleys to shred, resulting in loss of electrical power while driving.while looking for a replacement part to repair the vehicle, i found out that gm has discontinued this part, gm part 12606927.also, i have discovered that a large number of these crankshaft dampner pulleys are now failing, depleting the remaining gm parts stock to zero in the usa, suggesting a defective part design.this dampner-crankshaft pulley fits saturn vue 2004 thru 2007 with l66 3.5l 6 cylinder engines, as well as other gm car lines.the resulting loss of alternator power will quickly result in drop in system voltage due to discharge of battery, causing the car engine to unexpectedly shut down.this is a serious safety issue and these vehicles need to be recalled by gm to correct this condition.

While in our driveway getting ready to leave in our saturn vue, my husband put the car into reverse and started to back up. At this time the lanyard on the key chain got hooked and tugged the key a bit. The entire car completely shut off.updated 06/09/14 after hearing of the recent gm recalls and remembering this happening with my vue, we tried to replicate the problem while in my driveway, but not in park or neutral. By tugging on the lanyard, the engine turns off when the car is in drive pretty much every time. I have also had the key come completely out of the ignition while driving, but as long as it comes straight out and does not pull at an angle to turn the starter, the car stays on and continues to drive with no key in the ignition. Gm needs to look at this model as well as the others. If we can even replicate the issue on demand, there definitely is a problem. I can produce video of this happening with my car on request.updated 06/12/2014
After initial start, the car key can be removed from the ignition switch and the motor continues to run. To switch off the motor, the key must be reinserted as usual. There is no resistance in removing the key while the motor is running.
8-10-2011 well i drive a 2005 saturn vue redline, i have small baby so when it comes to cold air my a/c is very important. In houston rightnow its been 3-digit tempatures....in may of 2011 my a/c started acting up. When my suv is idleing it blows very hot air, but when i'm driving it gets colder, so when i stop at a light or stop sign i have to take off pretty quick to get it blowing cold. It is to hot out to be without an a/c expecially for my daughter. I've been online reading hundreds of complaints just like mine for the saturn vue. Many have paid enormus amounts of money to try and find out the problem with these a/c systems and most still dont have theirs working right. I cant afford to spend spend and spend trying to find the problem only for the problem to keep happening. So please someone, anyone if you read this help us to solve this problem because we purchured these vehicle with our hard earned money so we deserve to get what we've payed for and i am still paying on mine. 354 a month and final bill around 17,500. I live a block away from a gm dealership but cant afford to pay them to diagnos the problem....
I own a 2005 saturn vue and in june 2011 i experienced a/c failure that took my mechanic several weeks to diagnosis the problem. We order the partfrom milton ruben chevy dealer and the part was replaced on my vue at the end of june 2011. As of yesterday i was driving down the road and smoke started to rise out from under my vue. I pulled over and noted as long as the ma/c was off that the smoke stopped. My husband took it to our mechanic were the same part at the same place split again now my a/c does not work and it is still 100 plus degrees and the part is not even ninety days old. I believe with all the complaints that i have read on the a/c saturn problems there should be a recall on this part .
Timing chain broken on a 2005 saturn vue at 67,000 miles.
Car stalled and wouldn't restart. Towed to garage where they determined the timing chain failed.
Purchased 2005 saturn vue 02/20/08 with 13,000 miles.on 03/19/09 my saturn vue broke down.the vehicle was taken to saturn honolulu and subsequently found to have a defective damper pulley. The saturn mechanic explained that the damper pulley had walked away from the block which caused the serpentine belt to shred.the shredded pieces got into the timing belt cover causing the timing belt to skip and bending all of the valves.the saturn mechanic had never seen this happen before and had agreed that the part (damper pulley) was defective.because this was a manufacturer defect, i thought that saturn would contact the manufacturer general motors and correct the problem.i was informed that i would be responsible for paying to have the problem fixed.estimate cost for repair ($7,000) dollars.i was informed that because the vehicle was purchased from a different dealer that saturn would not cover the damages.i also was informed that the vehicle did have an extended warrant on it purchased by the original owner, but, because the warranty was not changed to me for the $25. Dollar fee, i could not use the warranty.i really need some help.thanks.

Ignition control module failed on my 2005 saturn vue, equipped with 2.2l l4 engine.cylinders 2 & 3 misfired, causing secondary failure of the oxygen sensors and catalytic converter after driving it only 10 miles to dealership after primary failure occurred.this is identical to the problem that is the subject for recall of several other saturn vehicles equipped with the same engine.the repair cost me approximately $250 for the ignition control module, $150 for oxygen sensors and an as yet undetermined amount for the catalytic converter.
Our 2005 saturn vue 4 cylinder timing chain broke with only 36,000 miles on it. Upon researching this i have found there was a recall on 1999-2001 saturn l-series for this exact problem.the vue 4 cylinder, from my understanding is the exact same make up as the l-series that the recall was on. Also upon my investigation i have discovered that this problem with the timing chain on the vue is widespread. Over and over again i have run across the same issue that i am currently having with my vue from people across the u.s. On top of that the fix for this issue is costing us 1,500.00 and saturn has told me it is no longer covered under warranty.

I have an 05 saturn vue.i am having problems with the headlights switching to the daytime running lights when i am driving at night.my dash goes completely black with the only lights coming from the dash being the green headlight that indicates the daytime lights are on and the light from the odometer.when this happens i also lose my taillights making it dangerous.this has been going on for months and i have had no resolution to this from the dealer.they claim they have to see it happen in order for them to fix it.there is no pattern to when this will occur as it comes and goes intermittently.

Back doors on vehicle will not close. At first only frequently now i can not get them to close and latch at all. The car has not been in any accidents. Front doors have no problems. I am in the process of getting the company to fix as i feel they were defective as the back doors are not used that much. As vehicle is out of warranty they have not been real cooperative.

Ignition lock failure. Key will not turn to off position. Key locked into ignition cylinder. Key comes out of cylinder but cylinder does not turn to off position and can continues running, solution for now take key out and take out ignition fuse to stop interior electrical from running or disconnect battery. If does not turn to accessory position have to remove fuel fuse and ignition fuse. Cost of repair over $300, from internet reading this is happening on most saturn vue and saturn ion vehicles. This needs to be recalled and isn't, just has a service bulletin which is not covered by warranty and costing lots of people lots of money for a defect that they should have recalled. Please recall!
I just bought this vehicle 2005 saturn vue with 61k mileage 2 weeks ago to a dealership and i am frustrated with the key to ignition when you pull it out. It get stuck all the time and it makes me crazy everyday.thought its just the key problem. So i went to dealership to make a brand new one and paid $108.00 for the key, key cut and key code. But the issue is still the same. Call a customer service and said there is no recall for this model type. What do i do now? and one thing more the transmission is not smooth in the 1st gear and 2nd gear. Is this normal for the 2005 saturn vue v6 transmission?
I was driving down the road when the transmission started making a grinding sound. I pulled over and had the car towed to the saturn dealership in durham nc.they fixed the transmission at no cost except i was out the money for towing.at this time the service technician told me that there was a class action suit and that the transmission would be replaced at no cost. For me and if i sold it. The next person to own the vehicle. Approximately a month later the transmission went out again on the car. I once again had it towed to the durham saturn and they fixed it at not price.it has just gone out again 1-6-2015 and when i called the gm dealership, i called two of them thompsons gm in raleigh and hendricks in raleigh they told me that they won't fix it anymore that they only had to fix it for 5 years or 75,000 miles or it was then increased to 8 years or 100,000 miles.so i am outside of either of these parameters so they said it was going to cost 5000.00 dollars to fix the transmission. 4000.00 for parts and approx.1000.00 for the work or they will give me 5000 dollar credit for the car as a trade in on a brand new gm vehicle that i will have to buy to get any trade in value for the vehicle.the vehicle is still in perfect condition because i have taken really good care of it.it is the first vehicle that i have driven off the showroom floor and i love it, but they need to make this right.the should at least of let me know that they weren't going to honor the class action lawsuit anymore so that i had a chance to get rid of it before it came to this.they said that they sent out paperwork to extend the warranty on the car, but i wasn't going to spend thousands of extra dollars paying for a warranty that would have obviously not been worth it since nothing else has gone wrong with the car.the one issue i was worried about i thought was covered in the suit.
In may of 2013 my husband and i purchased a 2005 saturn vue at a dealer in angola, indiana while visiting with family.four months later we started having problems with the original transmission to the point where it blew.before taking it to the local chevy dealer we called several transmission shops and they refused to do the work since it a cvt transmission.so the local chevy replaced the transmission and it had not been 24 hours and we had problems with it and the check engine light came on.we took it back to the dealer they made some adjustments which did not help so the dealer had to replace it a second time. I am driving home from work and the check engine light comes on. So i took it back to the dealer.they made some adjustments to the second one and during one of their test drives the check engine light came on. So the saturn vue remained at the dealer for a month. And of course the dealer had to replace the transmission for a 3rd time. Transmission number 3 lasted for october of 2013 to february of 2014.that being said, the transmission was replaced for the 4th time.this one only lasted to june.on friday june 13th the dealer called and said they had to order the 5th replacement transmission.i called gm on friday june 13th and i was very upset with them.gm informed me as so did the dealer that because of the warranty the dealer is not allowed to open a failed replacement transmission.my husband and i are really upset, we feel that because of this warranty and the dealer not being allowed to find out why all of these transmissions are failing gm is covering something up.we want answers!!!!
I own a 2005 saturn vue all wheel drive that when the roads are icy or snow packed is very hard to control.when you try to turn a corner you do not know if it is going to turn or not. The rear wheels kick in when the front wheels slip and i have had it slide sideways close to hitting a curb. All four tires are turning and there is no control. The braking is also as bad some of the same problems. I know that this vehicle is no longer being built but i still fell that this needs to be looked into, i have heard that there has been some accidents on slick roads and i think that this may by a bigger problem than just mine. This is an ongoing problem, not something that has just started happening. Most of the time the vue has been driven on dry roads or snow not that much on ice.

Started smoking the 1st time. Replaced brakes, rotors and break caliper on passenger's side. Ran and drove fine for about 1 week and did it again. All brakes and all that was replced were smoking hot and brown in color letting me know that all parts over heated. My car has been parked since 2014 and not used until ihear a recall. I already know this problem will arise continually by all the information i have found. Dealerships can't even find the problem. What does that tell you.
On 7-11-12 after backing out of a parking space & putting the car in drive the transmission quit working. I had the car towed to two different mechanics. Both giving me the same answer. The transmission would need to be replaced & it would cost 3,000. Later on i found out that there had been a recall on the transmission for my car. I contacted the saturn claims dept., had the car towed to a gm dealer & once again was told the same thing. Saturn then offered me a2,500 credit towards a new gm car. To my knowledge i should have been offered a 5,000 credit or half the cost of a replacement transmission. Please help they should have to right there wrong.
I am recently having problems getting my 2005 saturn vue into 1st gear.called a transmission company who looked it up and said there were a lot of complaints about this very issue, yet there is no recall for it.i only have 60,000 miles on my vehicle.the problem is that saturn put in a rubber type shifting linkage.
Car stalled and wouldn't restart. Towed to garage where they determined the timing chain failed.
When traveling at 65 miles an hour on the freeway for an hour and a half and come to a complete stop whether it's in traffic or getting off the freeway the car suddenly jerks violently back and forth and clunking sounds like something is slipping the car will all of a sudden just died and stop running.by putting the car into neutral the car will come to a stop the jerking of the transmission releasing the gears
Back in 2009 i received a noticed on a recall on the transmission.i took it to my dealer and was refused for any help with it. I contacted gm and they refused to help me. For many years i have had issues with noise, shifting and other problems.sometimes if i had it in reverse it would go forward and if i had it in drive it would go into reverse. The gears would stick and my car would jolt repeatedly. . on the 27th of september i was on my way to a friends house to repair my u joint . I had my 2 month old son in the car with me, we were on a busy rd doing 55mph when my car made a very loud noise and just stopped. It was running but wouldn't go in any gear. It was very scary and feared for my sons safety. I had it towed to my friends house to have it looked at and pieces of my transmission fell everywhere on the ground. It completely blew. I was grateful we both were not injured. I tried contacting gm again and they denied any such recall and refused again to help me. I am a single mother with no job and now no vehicle.i need any help i can possibly get. This has been very upsetting and stressful on me and unsure what to do. Please help.
After purchasing my saturn vue, january 11, 2011, it required service and a subsequent transmission replacement on or about april 1, 2011.the repair was covered by my extneded warranty, however, the most recent transmission failure, april 2, 2012, was not covered by a warranty.the dealership is seeking to have me pay 50% of the cost to replace, for a second time, a faulty transmission, with no guarantee that its performance will exceed that of my previous transmission replacement.between the cost of both transmissions, the repair to my vehicle exceeds the value of it as a whole.i am terrified that i will encounter this problem again, and cannot afford the cost to repair a problem that was foreseeable then, as well as now.i do not know where to turn, but i feel as though this is an irresponsible way to conduct business, and the improper functioning of this component could be the difference between highway safety and a fatal accident in the event the transmission fails at high speeds.please help make this right for me, and all other consumers not yet aware of the battle that they will, most likely, face if they are in possession of a saturn vue.
I was driving in 4 lanes of traffic when the transmission just stopped working.the car rolled and i was very lucky to get to the curb. The highway patrol came up behind me. And due to the traffic, choose to stay parked behind me with flares, until the tow truck arrived. I consider myself lucky that the police arrived to prevent a serious accident.
Driving 65mph on the freeway my vehicle would not down shift (automatic) and started making a terrible loud vibrating noise. Letting off the gas hoping and thinking it would down shift, the car started to totally slow down. Scared being on a freeway we pulled to the side, put on the hazard lights - we put the car in neutral and tried starting again but the car would never get above 40mph. We crawled along at about 30mph to find an exit ramp, called a tow truck ($300 for being out of town) to be towed back to our mechanic shop. Found the torque converter went bad which "toasted" the transmission. We ended up replacing the transmission with a same year and model as the old one. I never received any notices that there had been prior issues and i am now terrified that this one will go bad as i have recently read that these have had problems.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn vue.the contact stated that the transmission failed twice while merging into traffic at various speeds.before the failure, the transmission made a grinding noise.the vehicle was unable to be driven and was towed to the dealer.the dealer stated that a new transmission was needed.three months prior to the most recent failure, the dealer claimed to have installed a new transmission in the vehicle; however, the failure recurred and the consumer had a crash. The consumer hit the side of a tunnel.the failure mileage was 59,000. Updated 4/14/09 the consumer did not state if she reported it to the police. Updated 04/17/09.
Many incidences of saturn vue rolling backwards non-stop in drive (gear).told upon each of 5 reports that all automatic transmissions roll backwards in drive.vehicle has also rolled (not slid)4 times forwards in park down the driveway into the road with all wheels rolling.it has rolled backwards once with all wheels rolling.vehicle needed to be entered an emergency brake pulled.nothing has been done to date.
I own a 2005 saturn vue with 54,000 miles and have, for the past year, experienced a shudder in the transmission between 25 and 40 mph.the shudder occurs regularly during slow acceleration.the dealership hasn't, until recently, been able to diagnose the problem.the dealership has now told me that i need a new torque converter, which will be installed tomorrow.in addition, i've been experience squeaking in my suspension everytime i turn or go over a bump in the road.my car is only 3 years old and shouldn't be experiencing these problems.i will now be taking my car back to the dealership to have the suspension looked at.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn vue. The contact stated that after having his vehicle serviced at a local repair shop who advised him that the dealer recommended that he flush his transmission at 60,000 miles. When he took his vehicle into a certified dealer, they advised him to not flush the transmission since he was covered under warranty and that sometimes the flush caused more problems. 20,000 miles later the transmission failed with no warning and the contact was told that it would not be covered under the warranty. The vehicle had not been repaired for the transmission. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000. The vin was unavailable.
Car loses power. Happens frequently in heavy traffic, and has nearly caused several accidents. This has been going on for three years, and has gotten progressively worse. Saturn says there is nothing wrong, but it will cost us $1200 + to have it diagnosed and possibly repaired.the consumer stated the transmission slipped from drive to neutral while in traffic. Updated 09/23/09
At 24,000 miles this 2005 saturn vue needed the entire brake system replaced. Then when backing up and then putting the car in drive it would not speed up. I had to stop, put it in park, put it in drive again before it would move. This was at 28,300 miles, turns out the transmission went and had to be replaced. Now at 35,533 the drive shaft is rusted and center support is blown out. I asked saturn what the life expectancy of this vehicle is and received no response. There were no accidents related to these failures because i realized something was wrong and took it in for service immediately. However, this vehicle has had more serious and costly repairs at 35,533 miles than vehicles with over 100,000 miles. Driving it is very stressful as i never know what will happen next.

2005 saturn vue v6 transmission failure at approximately 86,000 miles.
My transmission in my 2005 saturn vue has failed. I was in traffic and the car just stopped as i pressed the gas pedal the engine just revved and the car took a few secs to engage. I have 65,001 miles on the vehicle and i have not had any luck in finding the transmission to fit this vehicle.
We purchased our 2005 saturn vue in april of 2005.we had no performance problems for the first 10-12000 miles.then we started to get a slipping in the transmission that prevented acceleration.this happened repeatedly, a couple of times when i was trying to merge into on-coming traffic. I cannot tell you how disconcerting it is to be accelerating into traffic with your two kids in the car, and than your engine revs like it is in neutral and you cannot move! we took the car into the saturn dealer on two separate occasions for this problem.both times we were told they could not duplicate the problem.than on february 9th, 2006, my husband was leaving his work, and could not get out of his parking space, as his car would not go into reverse.it would go forward, but only when in park.we had the car towed to the libertyville saturn dealer, and, of course, they were unable to detect a problem.they said if the car is cold, the computer will prevent the transmission from being engaged, to avoid transmission damage.they also said that the slipping in the transmission was "normal operation" for the cvt transmission.well, i did not have this issue happen when i test drove the car, and for approximately 5 months after.i do not have the problem for a week or so after an oil change.i feel that there is a blatant performance problem with the cvt (continuous variable transmission)continuous implies that the transmission varies "continuously"i can assure you, if my car had done this while i was test driving it, i never would have bought the car.it is a safety hazard, and makes me extremely anxious when i am driving, as there is no way to anticipate when it will happen.saturn has repeatedly stated that this "slipping" is normal.i have found several web sites on the web with people complaining of this exact problem.
I traveling on rural highway and when i pressed the clutch to beginslowing down at stop light it was not working. Auto almost caused accident which i was lucky to avoid. I had to have it towed in and the slave cylinder had gone out. I had less that 40,000 miles on the auto and just turned over 39,000 recently on this 2005 saturn vue.
Manual transmission on 2005 saturn vue 4 cyl failed at about 50,000 miles. Lost the clutch pedal and could not shift the car at all. Occurred while driving on the expressway. Got it to the dealer for repair and they knew exactly what the problem was. Slave unit failed, which also caused the clutch to be replaced.paid about $1800.00 for the repaid and saturn would not acknowledge that they have transmission problems with their cars. Doing some research on the internet i found that there is a long history of transmission failures and suspension failures on the cars. I am not experiencing more transmission issues and suspension problems. I feel that saturn/gm is aware of defective parts in their cars and refuse to make the proper repairs needed.
No warning was given at all!the slave cylinder in my 2005 saturn vue went out while i was driving down the road.stuck in traffic with my three old son!
The vehicle has major wind noise...you can not even hear the radio or conversations in the vehicle due to this noise. The car also has a rattling coming from the driver and passenger side of the car, we can not identify the source. The vehicle also rolls back on a hill when in drive. The brakes also squeal and the dealership says they are fine, but we do not believe they are. These problems have been going on since may 2005 and till now (1/18/06) saturn has not fixed any of them.
I was sitting at a red light in my brand new 2005 saturn vue and was hit from behind by a medium-sized transit bus at approx. 35-40 mph.the damage to the rear of the car was extensive and resulted in the total loss of the car.my concern is that the front driver's seat broke during the accident.the back of the seat collapsed and fell back into the back seat.the seat almost totally broke underneath and twisted to the left.i was the lone occupant in the car and suffered numerous abrasions, bruises, cuts, bumps, and sprains, as well as back and neck pain.i was wearing my seat belt and still hit the steering wheel, causing me to get cuts on my lips and face.the majority of the injuries to my body were on the left side.
The driver's seat heater malfunctioned burning a hole through the upholstery and my sweater as i drove my 2 minutes to work.i turned the heat seat on the lowest setting for warmth and within the commute from home to work, it malfunctioned.there is a 2 cm hole in my car seat and my sweater has burn marks on it.i turned off the heater as soon as i felt the over heating on my rearend, but it was too late.
I was driving on a busy highway, braking regularly with the stop and go traffic, my brakes suddenly locked up on me and i was barely able to get back up to 50 mph. Eventually i was close to highway speeds, but the car wasn't shifting correctly. This happened a few times, and we began replacing parts on the brakes. Then, while driving again, the brakes locked down and stopped the vehicle. Once locked, the brakes did not release, or do not release completely. And we discovered - ultimately, once this happens you simply can't fix it.the first thing that we did is we replaced the brake pads, rotors, tie rod ends and boots, because we thought the pads were going bad and the rotor was warped (the front end had started having a shimmy at higher speeds sometimes also). That seemed to fix all but the shimmy so we then replaced the two front tires and had them rebalanced and realigned. After that the brakes suddenly locked up rather hard. I managed to get off the highway safely, but the vehicle would barely do 10 mph because of the brakes locking down. We took it in and replaced parts for all of the brake system. We replaced the pads, rotors, calipers, hoses, master cylinder and the abs unit (only found in junkyards now). Then the brakes locked once again and caught fire! we put it out, but this was a known problem, especially when attempting to replace brake parts on this model. We found numerous reports online that this was a common problem for this model, and not just for 2005.
I had just returned home from shopping when i experienced a complete brake failure. Fortunately the incident happened on my driveway as i was driving up to the front of my garage. Since i was moving very slow i was able to stop by shifting the trans into "park". I looked under the vehicle and saw a puddle of break fluid on the driveway at each rear wheel. The vehicle was picked up by a towing service and delivered to auto-lab of troy, mi 48084. Their inspection found that both brake lines at the rear wheel cylinders were completely rusted through which allowed the fluid to spay out of them when the brake pedal was applied.

I was sitting in driver seat and i out my key in ignition and turned it to 1 past the acc and i was able to take my key out of the ignition while it still being turn to 1. While in park. I can also take my key out of ignition while it's running while in drive or park on the 1 mark after acc.
I can remove the key from the ignition while the car is still running. Also, there are times the ignition will physically not turn so that i can crank the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn vue.the contact stated that after making a left or right turn, the vehicle would hesitate to drive forward. The contact mentioned that the failure would occur on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a diagnostic testing, who advised that the electronic steering control failed.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 101,000.
The key will no longer turn in the ignition. It's as if i am using the wrong key entirely. It has stranded me numerous times.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn vue. While reversing the vehicle, the steering wheel seized without warning. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The local dealer (south pointe chevrolet, 9146 s. Memorial drive, tulsa ok, 74133) stated that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn vue. The contact stated while traveling approximately 20 mph attempting to avoid crashing into another vehicle, the contact had to apply force to the brakes and the steering wheel locked. As a result, the contact lost control of the vehicle crashing into a metal ground wire which flipped the vehicle over. A police report was filed no injuries were reported. The vehicle was taken to a body repair shop. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact made aware that the vehicle was not included in recall nhtsa campaign id number: 08v470000 (steering) and nhtsa campaign id number: 08v616000 (steering). The approximate failure mileage was 102,000.
I was driving on the freeway about 60 mph andnoticed there was a burning smell coming from the steering wheel and then there was smoke. I exited the freeway and let the car sit for about 10 minutes and the smoke went away. I took the car to the mechanic and we couldn't get the car to duplicate the smell or smoke. I has happened several times since then.
Key ignation will not turn over steering wheel is locked
Keys get stuck in ignitionnot alwaysintermittent and for no reason5 times since i have had the car.

I was unable to unlock steering to get my key in. Steering locked up. This has happened 3 or 4 times starting when the suv was only a year old. Also my key just comes out while saturn is still running, this started happening in 2009. I thought it was the key. I traded keys with my husband. He had the spare. But it is still happening. I can pull my key out and it keeps running. This saturn vue 2005 should be in the recall. I have young children that ride with me. What are we waiting for a injury or fatality?
My 2005 saturn vue has had problems for years with the steering wheel locking after parking and turning it off, such that it takes quite a bit of "jiggling" of the wheel in order to enable the key to turn in the ignition column.additionally, the key is able to be removed while on.i had not thought to see if it was recalled, but was told that my father's 2003 saturn vue did have the steering/ignition column recalled and replaced for exactly the same issues as i am experiencing.
After initial start, the car key can be removed from the ignition switch and the motor continues to run. To switch off the motor, the key must be reinserted as usual. There is no resistance in removing the key while the motor is running.
Every time the car hits a bump there a severe rattle from the front end. I had new struts installed and that is when the mechanics told and showed me that the bushings on the rack and pinion unit were going bad. I have checked since then and nobody seems to sell the bushing. They want you to buy a new unit for 600ish dollars or a remanufactured one for as much as 300ish dollars. Now when you purchase either of these units it is suggested that you also buy the new boltsand castle nuts for it which less then 29 dollars. The units have new bushings installed so i know some one is producing them and you can buy the bolts from almost anyone. The mechanic suggested sooner then later would be best asrack may come loose from frame and cause a sever loss of steering which would include severe bodily harm or death. And gm does sell rack and pinion mountbushing for their other vehicles just not the saturnsfor some reason!start date is approximate the forums have a large number of complaints about the same situation but no solutions
The contact owns a 2005 saturn vue. While attempting to turn the key in the ignition, the key failed to turn. Additionally, the steering wheel became extremely difficult to turn and seized completely at one point. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. A dealer was not contacted. The contact spoke to an independent mechanic who stated that they would inspect the vehicle later and the contact could potentially need a new steering wheel. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 169,000.
Last jan. 2004 we purchased a 04 saturn vue, the vehicle ended up being in the shop for repairs such as suspension, drive train, wheel bearings etc. The last repair was the steering column and saturn agreed to replace the m/v. In july 04 were received our new 04 vue. On saturday we brought it to the dealership for service and to check a rattle in the front end. We are new scheduled to have the steering column replace in this m/v. Saturn stated that the m/v is safe to drive but my concern is two (2) 04 vue's with steering column replacements and saturn not telling me if this is a major problem with these m/v's. What are the odds that this could only happen to us not once but twice.
Saturn vue with sporadic electronic failure. Consumer states that the failure consists of the brake lights and gauges going to zero. Also when the lights malfunction the power steering is decreased or stops completely.
This is a known problem with these saturn views it is where the engine carriage bolt attaches to the frame the water from the road in everything shoots right up on it and rust this area where i had to work on this area and remove the bolts in the front there was so much rust that now the bolt cannot be reattached this would cause problems on the road if in a wreck it would fold up now i'm trying to find somebody to fix it. I have never had this issue with any of the cars i have previouslyworkedon. The frame of a car should not rust out like this. Should b the last thing to rust out.the vehiclewas stationary at the time was replacing sway bar components.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn vue. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to shamrock auto brokers, llc (322 b nh-104, new hampton, nh 03256, (603) 548-3165) to get the vehicle inspected, however the vehicle failed the state inspection. The contact was informed that there were perforations on the subframe due to rust. Greenwood auto (6 farrarville rd, belmont, nh 03220, (603) 528-0158) was contacted however, the dealer was no longer in business. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 169,540.
Drivers door would not open from in or outside.referred to gm dealership that was designated by gm to work on saturns.after 4 hours and 441.00, they removed the entire door and replaced the door latch.all other electrical components worked such as door locks, handles, windows and side mirrors. I also have an ignition issue and can remove the key while the car is running.why are saturns not part of the ignition recall?just because they are no longer manufactured like pontiac and oldsmobile? what about our safety?
2005 saturn vue developed problems with driving straight.*mrthe vehicle would wander while driving.if the consumer were to take his eye off the road for a second to check the mirrors the vehicle would wander to the left or right.
2005 saturn vue feels like it is going to tip over when taking sharp turns.this is particularly noticeable when driving at high rates of speed but within the posted speed limits such as leaving the interstate freeways on to adjoining on ramps/off ramps which tend to have various curves in the road.the car feels scary when this happens and requires a complete reduction of speed by the driver with all other nearby cars and suv's passing by with no visible similar handling problem.i would not be surprised if this problem has contributed or played a role in accidents.

The frame to subframe areas that holds up motor and transmission rusted and broke loose. As i went over a large bump on a city street the whole subframe separated. I was on a buy here pay here loan from tnt motors in oregon illinois. The vehicle was returned to them and i'm worried they will try to put it back on the road
Timing chain loose/danger of excelaration on highway
At a stop, the car shuts off automatically even though the ignition is on. This has happened 3 times.
Ignition cylinder switch.key comes out at all times.and then when u turn it off switch locks and now it want unlock to start
I bought my 2005 saturn vue in december 2013 and have had nothing but problems since. When i first bought it i noticed a problem with the brakes. They have always worked poorly. I replaced the pads, then both front calipers 3 times. Then finally the hoses which helped somewhat. I recently had to replace the carrier bearing which helped the shaking and clunking i have read about in other posts. Just last month though right after i had spent the money on the carrier bearing i attempted to leave my driveway and when i tried to shift it hesitated then once it did start moving there is a loud grinding sound and jerking. My transmission now needs replaced. I have researched recalls and have found none that will help me with this. I regret ever buying this vue and now i still owe 2000 to the bank for a vehicle i cannot afford to fix.
Started the car tonight and key came out of ignition while running.
The key will not turn in the ignition even after jiggling the steering wheel and flipping the key back and forth. When driving down the road your are able to pull the key out of the ignition and continue driving
I crashed the front end and no air bags.
I was sitting in driver seat and i out my key in ignition and turned it to 1 past the acc and i was able to take my key out of the ignition while it still being turn to 1. While in park. I can also take my key out of ignition while it's running while in drive or park on the 1 mark after acc.
Ignition keys slip out when car is running.
While driving at high speeds (70-80mph) on the freeway, for no reason at all my driving speed automatically drops to around 50mph and will stay that way even if i floor the gas pedal. The only way to pick speed back up is to slow down to about 35-45mph and then gradually pick speed back up. While this speed problem is occurring, an orange triangle with an exclamation mark lights up on right side of the dashboard.
This car has a wireless gas pedal.my car would go to idle while traveling freeway speeds!the only way to rectify this was turn off the car (on the freeway) and restart it! i had it replace $400! now, twice, it goes to idle by itself!the gas pedal does not work until i shut off the car and restart it! also my key stills falls out (since 2006) and was not included in the recall!
In below zero weather window washer fluid does not come out. I have been told that this is true with most gm vehicles and the auto companies know it but have not put out a bulletin. I have been told that if you take the car to the dealer they will tell you that for certain years the manufacture make the tube for the fluid smaller and so it freezes. I have been told that the manufacturers fixed this on later models. I have been told that the dealer will offer some sort of concentrated wiper solution that won't freeze. I find it ridiculous that i can't find anything about this on your site as i know at least 10 people with gm cars that have the same problem.
Air conditioning system stopped working. Electronic switch will not turn on blower motor for heat or cold. Causing it not to work and my car not able to drive in humid or raining conditions. Failure has not been corrected.
I own 2 saturn suv and both have recently experienced cracking from road debris.the dealer stated it was not a stress crack.it would seem to me that quality of the glasswas the problem. I have experienced this twice with my cars being driven by different drivers.
