I have soo much problem with this car

While parking, at the speed of about 3 mph i hit the side of a cemented driveway which was higher than the street, and the driver and passenger airbags deployed.there is no damage to my bumper or any other parts of my car.

On september 28, 2005 at approximately 8:00 am i was traveling on i 295 north where the speed limit is 65 mph. I was in the middle lane of the interstate driving a 2001 saturn sl1 blue in color. The car in front of me which was a saturn vue slammed on his brakes hitting a white honda that was in front of him. When the vue hit the honda the vue went from the middle lane of traffic to the left lane. I was behind the vue in the middle lane and when the vue went into the left lane i hit the white honda on the right bumper and was going approximately between 55 mph and 65 mph. My car then spun around and i then hit the vue in the left hand lane and my car ended up between the middle and left hand lane. The two airbags in my 2001 saturn sl1 never deployed. My car has extensive damage to the front end, the left front tire and will probably be a total loss. This vehicle had to be towed from the scene of the accident.

Our daughter was involved in a motor vehicle accident on 10/9/2014. A vehicle pulled out in front of her. Our daughter was not able to stop in time and hit the vehicle with the front end of the saturn to the drivers door of the other vehicle. Air bags did not deploy but we believe they should have. Our daughter sustained injuries.

I was in an accident on july 18 2009 a lady pulled out of a side street and we hit. I could not avoid her. Im not sure what speed i was going at impact but i slammed on my brakes at 40 mph. My front end hit her side.most passengers me, the front passenger and two others were injured. Neither air bag deployed. Im not sure if they should have but at that speed and the impact i feel they definitely should have. My daughter and i flew forward and she hit the windshield and i went into the steering wheel coming very close to the windshield. The car in totaled.

While parking vehicle, both air bags inadvertently deployed. Had not hit anything while parking vehicle.

While driving at 50 mph, consumer ran into side of a bridge and hit both sides. Upon impact, none of the air bags deployed.front end was damaged. Contacted dealer. Vehicle was totalled and there was one injury.*jg

Ltr from senator bingaman on behalf of constituent, re front side air bag deployment in her 2001 saturn sl1.*njthe air bad deployed when the consumer son exited the vehicle after firmly closing the door. The consumer had an outside contractor inspect the vehicle, and he stated the vehicles computer registered an event that occurred prior to the air bag deployment.

While traveling at 35mph vehicle was involved in anaccident.upon impact, air bags failed to deploy.please provide further information.

While driving 45 mph the vehicle was involved in a frontal collision.the air bags did not deploy. As a result the vehicle was considered totaled. The passenger sustained a broken knee in three places and now unable to walk. Please provide additional. Information.

Malfunction of passenger side air bag on 2001 saturn sl1. *njthe airbag deployed when the consumer's son exited the vehicle. The consumer stated the vehicle was at a stop with the engine idling.

Consumer's vehiclestopped at a traffic light andanother vehicle rear-ended it,causing the consumer's vehicle to rear end another vehicle. Upon impact, both frontal air bags did not deploy. Consumer had vehicle towed to the dealership.

-while getting out the 2001 saturn sl 1, the contact closed the front passenger door and the side curtain air bags deployed without any prior warning.the contact called the dealer and the manufacturer, and they stated they couldn't assist the contact.the manufacturer advised the contactto call the dealer and the dealer said to call the manufacturer.the contact stated that she did not haveany previous work done on the air bags before, and at the time of the failure there wasno air bags warning light.

I purchased a 2001 saturn sl from a small car dealership at the end of june 2006.the car was purchased with a 30 day warranty.in the middle of august, many components of the electrical system began to fail - alternator, battery, starter.all were replaced. In addition, the engine failed.just today (12/27/06) the car started to act up again.worst car i've ever owned.

The security light on the dash board turn on and the wheel turn to the right side by it self and the car turn off and won't start again until the security light is off. This is the third time that happened wile driving with my son inside the car.

The contact owns a 2001 saturn sl. The contact stated that the anti theft warning lamp illuminated and the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the ignition was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000 and the current mileage was 72,000.

After the key is inserted in the ignition cylinder it will not engage and turn to start the vehicle.the lock remains stuck in the "off" position. Over the past several months the problem has become consistently worse.we have been stranded numerous occasions unable to start the vehicle.while the vehicle is running we are able to remove the key from the ignition.i have researched the internet and found this is a common issue with saturn's vehicles.

Sometimes my security light goes on-when that happens, in order to start car up i have to lock all of the doors, wait 20 minutes then start up the car. It now has 117000 miles on it and it makes a loud noise and shakes at anything over 60 miles an hour

The contact owns a 2001 saturn sl. The contact stated that when the ignition was turned towards the on position, it was difficult to turn the key and it took numerous attempts to start the vehicle. The contact stated that the key was removed without the ignition being turned to the off position. The contact also stated that while refueling the fuel tank, the vehicle failed to indicate when the fuel tank was fuel causing fuel to spill. The failures recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 142,000.updated 7/7/15the consumer stated the vehicle would shut off, when she approached a stop sign. Updated 08/06/15

For some time now my horn is unreliable. I was behind a car that was attempting to reverse and was trying to alert them of my presence and my horn would not work. I repeatedly kept pressing the horn icon on the steering wheel and nothing happened. I was lucky that a person walking noticed and alerted the driver in front of me.another time i was at a traffic light and the person in front of me was distracted with something in their car and the light was green and i had cars lined up behind me, i tried to blow my horn to alert them of the light change, no horn. Again pressed horn icon repeatedly and nothing happened. I would say the first occurrence happened in 2009 and progressed with sporadic availability until it completely stopped.i have too many instances to name where i needed my horn and it failed to work.i have contacted saturn and am waiting their reply.

My saturn that i've been driving for about a year and a half now, completely cut off in the middle of me driving it. Luckily i was at a drive they so so serious damage to me or anyone else. Could not get it to start back up for a good 5-10 mins. Also the transmission is going out in it and i'm constantly having to add fluid so it doesnt skip. The rear tail lights keep having to be replaced because they keep blowing out.

I have soo much problem with this car

The contact owns a 2001 saturn sl. The contact stated that while driving at 30 mph, the key intermittently released from the ignition. The failure occurred on two occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

2002 saturn sl1.customer stated that the low beam lights cut off intermittently**ccthe vehicle has been taken to the dealer but they have been unable tofix the problem.the high beam lights work fine.the dash light also stopped working.

Numerous brake failure. Brake pedal fades to the floor after sitting overnight, notice not fluid at rt front brake line, replace master cylinder. Power bleed and rt 26 miles after rapair, normal braking performance.poor brake performance, sometimes a loud snap or click before failure, sometime no warning, sometime just a soft or spongy brake pedal.battery leaking acid into battery box, verified and found battery leaking at possitive cable replace battery, cover, possitive cable, trans filter and cleaned engine compartment.hose from coolant tank to throttle body rubbed, replace hose. Adjustment parking brakes hard to pull, adjust per service manuel.

Vehicle was losing power.found positive battery terminal on original ac delco battery leaking and corroding the battery cable.replacement battery corrected problem.

Battery acid leak on positive battery terminal (saturn 2001 sl2). On 3/13/04 at night tried to start my saturn and couldn't start it.called saturn roadside service for a jump (car started).on the drive home car lost all power coming off the freeway after pushing the car to a gas station i found the positive battery was corroded. I attempted to clean the positive battery terminal and the battery terminal with the cable fell out of the battery.called saturn roadside service for a tow to saturn of torrance dealership for repair.3/15/04 saturn of torrance service department took the can in for repair.and found the following:positive battery terminal out of batterypositive battery cable corrodedcleaned affected areai was charged $127.57 for a replacement batterythe positive battery cable corroded was replaced under warranty (no charge)note: battery was only 2years old and had green indicator light showing the battery was still good.i am not happy with being charge for a replacement battery for a new car, after learning that quite a few other people had the same problem and that saturn service bulletin addressing this issue (service bulletin 01-t-26) note: (statement posted on the internet same problem)yes this is a well-known condition.this problem is basically caused by someone over-torquing the cable mounting bolts. There is actually a service bulletin on the problem (not a recall or campaign) )1-t-26 .the condition can occur on any year and model saturn or otherwise with a side post battery. But for what-ever reason the bulletin specifies only 2000-2001 s-series. Since i bought the car in february 2001, in january 2002, february 2002, january 2003 and june 2003, the car would not start.saturn changed the battery in january 2003 and in all other occasions the car needed jump start.when i contacted saturn, they said everything is fine.since all of them were identical problems, saturn would not treat these as repairs as jump starts do not count as repairs.

This is a design issue.we are prior year (1993, 1997 (2), and 1998) saturn owners.for the prior years, the cruise control was located on the inside of the steering column.the horn buttons were located on the lower portion of the steering wheel.this resulted in complaints from many owners because this was not the standard location for horns on gm or other models.in 1999 or 2000, saturn moved the horn to the typical location (center of steering wheel over the airbag).they replaced the horn buttons with the curise controls.4-6 weeks after we purchased, the 2001 saturn, i was involved in an incident with a young lady having a 'road rage day'.during one frantic moment, i tried to locate the horn.of course it wasn't in the 'customary location'.i found it but not until after i had activated the cruise control.concentrating on the other driver's actions, i was unaware that 'cruise was engaged'.in the next moment, this driver slammed on her brakes (for which she was ticketed and fined).i tried to stop.however, when i took my foot off of the gas the car sped up.i hit her car when i should have been able to stop.i am extremely concerened that another driver (particularily owners of older model saturns who purchase new saturns) will experience the same situation but with more deadly consequences.i have spoken with saturn customer services and written them a note (without response).the customer service person said they would do eactly what i did.she owns and drive the prior year saturn.she said the location of the horn is automatic.i have spoken to two others who have done exactly the same thing.it took me 3-6 months to never engage the cruise in my search for the horn.that is probably because i have logged well over 200,000 miles in the older models.thanks.

Horn stopped working 1 week after purchase of vehicle. Vehicle has been taken to dealer 5 times, could not remedy the problem.

I took my saturn in for repair because i was having trouble with the ignition and starting my car. The dealer said that the ignition cylinder binding and column was loose. They replaced the cylinder and code cylinder and secured the steering wheel column. Now the same ignition problem is back but even worse. It takes a series of shakes of my key and moving the steering wheel to even start the car! i hope that i won't get stranded somewhere when this car won't start!!!

Saturn 2001 ionignition - car won't start because key won't turnthis is a known problem with saturns and is a bad safety issue.people are stranded with vehicles that won't start or sometimes even turn off.this is awful, and saturn knows about it, and gm is asking for a bailout?this should be a recall.if government won't force a recall on known issues, the company winds up going extinct due to poor quality issues.recall this!

2001 sl1 saturn

My 2001 saturn sl2 has had many complaints about ignition lock on discussion boards. I have had problems with it for about a year, but have been able to jiggle it to start. I've been lucky. If this has been such a problem why hasn't there been a recall rather than all the false charges and repairs people have had to pay?

While driving 55 mph, the check engine light appeared on the dashboard and remained on.the vehicle stalled.the driver was unable to restart.the driver had the vehicle towed to a mechanicthe mechanic reset the computer system.the consumer discovered there was a recall on certain 2000-2003 l-series saturns regarding the ignition control module, so the consumer contacted the manufacturer and was told the problem was not widespread. The consumer believed the problem he experienced with his car was stated in the recall.

Ignition locked down was replaced but problem keeps happening.complained to service department, but they told me they could not recreate problem. Stopped going to dealership.

When the ignition key is inserted into the ignition, it doesn't turn most of the time. It has been tried turning the steering wheel back and forth and also reinserting the key. This has been going on for several months now and it is getting worse as time goes on. I also know of other saturn owners with other models which have the same problem. The dealership does not say that this is an on going problem with their cars.

Dt: after exiting the vehicle the key was removed with the key in the accessory position,. Then, the key could not be reentered. Also, key was taken out of ignition while vehiclewas in motion.dealership told the owner it was due to wear and tear, and she would have to pay forrepairs. Owner did not think that sheshouldto pay for repairs.

The daytime running lights went out while driving. The dealership indicated that the daytime runninglights wiring burnt out and broke. This wires are located close to other wires in the engine, and couldof resulted in an engine fire. The dealership replaced the burnt wires. The cause of the wires burning is undetermined.*la

Instrument cluster trunk ajar warning light illuminates while driving.dealer cannot remedy

I have contacted saturn corporation and two dealerships to have this problem fixed it has not been fixed or taken seriously. No safety defect listed.

1st incident: i went in to the saturn dealer for an oil change and the dealer found a fuel leak between the tank and the filter. There was fuel on top of the tank top and also dripping down the side. The dealer said there was a cracked line in the fuel system close to the tank top. I had to replace the fuel pump assembly in order to repair the leak of my pocket as it was not covered by the warranty.2nd incident: yesterday i went for a state inspection at the local chevrolet dealer that takes care of my saturn and they reported that i have a fuel tank leaking and have to replace the fuel pump. Because of this it failed the state inspection. My car currently has only 41152 miles on it and is driven mostly for pleasure. Is there a current recall on the fuel pump assembly or the fuel tanks of the saturn l300 series?

Temperature sensor and top motor mount both cracked.

The contact owns a 2001 saturn sl1.the contact stated that while driving 70 mph, he heard a loud noise and the vehicle started shaking excessively.neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was made aware of the failure.the vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who informed the contact that the transmission valve body was defective and needed to be replaced.the contact was awaiting repairs.the current and the failure mileages were 132,000.....updated 12/03/12 updated 01/11/12

I was pulling out of a parking lot onto the main highway when the car made a pffff sound and i lost all power to the car the motor just stopped. I had no power steering and no power brakes. The dealer stated the timing chain just snapped and then 12 out of the 16 valves in the car bent. I found this incredible on a vehicle with such low mileage.

The contact owns a 2001 saturn sl2.while driving 7 mph, the vehicle failed.the contact attempted to restart the vehicle, but was unsuccessful.she did not notice any warnings prior to the failure.the vehicle was towed to a local repair shop and the technician stated that the timing chain failed.the repair would cost $2,000.the contact called the manufacturer and was advised to take the vehicle to a local dealer for further inspection.the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they also stated that the timing chain failed.the manufacturer stated that there was no current recall on her vehicle, but they would cover half of the repair cost.the contact does not feel she should have to pay because there is a service bulletin pertaining to the timing chain failure.the vehicle has not been repaired.the failure mileage was 66,636.

The contact owns a 2001 saturn sl2. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start. The vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop and the contact was informed that the timing chain needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 110,000.

The contact owns a 2001 saturn sl.while driving 70 mph, the timing chain failed and the vehicle had to be towed to a mechanic.the mechanic stated that the engine needed to be replaced.the current and failure mileages were 160,000.

Numerous brake failure. Brake pedal fades to the floor after sitting overnight, notice not fluid at rt front brake line, replace master cylinder. Adjustment parking brakes hard to pull, adjust per service manuel.

The engine in my car, a 2001 saturn sl, seized.the car was well maintained, and had only about 43000 miles.the oil had been changed one week prior to this incident, and the engine showed no signs of leakage.i was fortunate that we were moving slowly, as somebody may have been injured at highway speeds.

Defective brake rotors on 2001 saturn sl.*mr front brake pads and rotors had to be replaced 4 times.intermittently vehicle bucked and stalled at idle.dealer was unable to duplicate concern on road test.radio light inoperative.radio assembly replaced.

The vehicle shut down while driving and check engine light illuminated on the dash

Excessive oil consumption - epa problemat 75,000 miles our 2001 sl2 began to consume oil at an alarming rate.1 qt in less than 150 miles.this is less that one quart per fuel stop.no oil is dripping and the engine is dry of oil.there are thousands of such cases posted on numerous web sites.all with the same symptoms starting at between 60,000 and 80,000 miles.it seems that gm used low tension oil rings and they stick easily allowing the oil to burn in the cylinder.a temporary fix can be obtained by removing the spark plugs and filling each cylinder with car cleaner.a soaking of several hours will stop the oil usage for about 3000 miles then it will start again.this is also an epa problem as the oil is going out the exhaust.the response from saturn is this falls in the realm of normal oil usage.

2001 saturn 1.9 liter l4 sl2 5 speed.the manifold gasket went bad causing anti-freeze to leak into the engine and caused the water pump to go bad.the car had 46,000 miles.

Multi engine misfire, knock system, idle speed high, ignition system volts.the intake gasket was leaking.my repairman that he has seen this in multiple different saturns especially in the sl1 model.if not fixed, idle will increase.

Consumer states that while driving at highway speed when the engine suddenly died.cause is unknown. Please provide any further information.nlm

We noticed that sometimes the car was engine was racing when coming to a stop and you have to hold extra pressure on the bake pedal to keep the car from moving forward.the idle speed increases from a normal 750 rpm to approximately 1750 rpm while in neutral, intermediately, sometimes right after starting the car, sometimes after driving for a while. The car engine when it does this will exceed 1100 rpm while in drive with your foot on the brake.the car was taken to the dealer numerous times under while under warranty and one time specifically while it was exhibiting the high idle and no cause was discovered, no parts replaced; the problem still exists today. The dealer is unable to find the problem, even though we took it in while the engine was high idling.

We had to have the intake manifold gasket replaced on our 2001 saturn sl2 with only 41,500 miles.the car received regular maintenance and was just out of warranty.i understand this may be a common problem with gm vehicles and believe that saturn should be responsible for the cost of the repair.

The vehicle brake rotor warp several times which caused vibration while braking.the dealer replaced the rotors.when the vehicle was moved from a stop the vehicle jerked forward.the vehicle also acts as if it want to stall when sitting idle.the dealer was unable to duplicate either concern.the radio light was inoperative therefore the dealer replaced the radio.*nlm

I can not understand why this board has allowed the use of "driving lights" on cars on our highways.these lights are misused constantly and pose (in my opinion) a severe safety hazard.they are used for driving in the rain and considered sufficient during dusk and evening hours.they present a reduced visibility and a danger to other drivers.they are especially a problem since they do not turn on the tail lights.coming up on such a vehicle using driving lights at dusk in the rain is one of the worst experiences i have had while driving.i do not know of any specific accidents relating to this problem, but i bet there are many out there.i am not sure the authorities are fully aware of this potential cause of serious accidents.your attention to this issue would be greatly appreciated.i hope you will consider this to be a serious issue.thank you for your time and attention.

2002 saturn sl1.customer stated that the low beam lights cut off intermittently**ccthe vehicle has been taken to the dealer but they have been unable tofix the problem.the high beam lights work fine.the dash light also stopped working.

Fuel line ruptured due to flying debris from road, fuel line is a rubber or plastic hose and is close to catalytic converter and muffler, consumer is concerned that the rupture could have leaked gasoline onto these other components and caused a fire, consumer feels the line should be steel or be covered by a metal plate to shield it, consumer noticed rupture when he turned ignition switch on and electric fuel pump forced 3 and 1/2 gallons of fuel onto ground.

I saw a recall on your web site that described the same repair i need to pass emissions on my 2001 saturn sl1. It is a fuel tank vent valve. I contacted the saturn dealer and they say there is no recall on my vehicle and refuse to fix. I can have another diagnostic which i had already and it will cost $85. I am going to pay for the work to be done now and it is expensive for a problem that was recalled on numerous vehicles the same as mine. I feel this is wrong. How can you have a recall on the same item and not put it on all vehicles made with the bad part?

2001 saturnsl2 transmission will slam when placed in reversereplaced fluids and let run in reverse position with emergency brake set and backed up against a tree to try and clean valve body- no success.

Saturn 2001 sl1, my girlfriend was driving the car and called me saying that it was knocking she only drove it around the block due to her being scared of the sounds. I then drove the car around to ensure that it was a transmission problem. The car has 97,000 miles on it and i just had the o2 sensor changed for an idle high issue.i also had to clean out the idle air control valve due to build up and faulty operation.i brought my car to aamco to ensure the transmission is taken care of properly.they have to rebuild the transmission replacing every part inside the casing.2,480$ in the hole, so i better not have anymore issues with this car after this.also the door lock gets stuck on the driver side, so you have to manually push over the leaver every time you exit the vehicle.

While in 5th gear at 65 mph vehicleautomatically shifted into neutral, there was a truck right behind consumer when this happened.there was a second occasion when at an intersection in heavy traffic, vehicle was in third gear and as consumer accelerated, transmission slammed into neutral, causing rapid deceleration, after first incident, dealer adjusted a bushing and stated problem should not reoccur, however it did and dealer stated there was nothing that could be done and it was due to the way the transmission was engineered.

Dealer has not been notified as of yet.when transmission is switched to reverse, the vehicle gives a very strong jolt backwards, like a hard-knock engaging of the gears, so strong i am afraid it could cause a whip-lash someday.

The contact owns a 2001 saturn sl2.while driving 30 mph, the vehicle jerked and slammed into gear.the dealer stated that the motor mount failed and they changed the transmission fluid.approximately ten days later, the failure recurred.the contact took the vehicle to a mechanic and he stated that the lining inside the transmission separated, which allowed debris to enter the gears and valves.as of november 27, 2007, the mechanic had not repaired the vehicle.the failure mileage was 50,000 and current mileage was 74,000.

Only had the car for a couple of months - started having problems with the transmission.....kept shifting real hard from 2nd to 3rd (automatic).took it to our mechanic and said it was out of his hands and referred us to a transmission specialist.had the car towed to them and once he looked it over it needed a new transmission!!!!only had 60,000 miles - go figure.valve body!!wrote a letter to the saturn corporate office about the problem to see what they could do and told us that we should have taken the car to a saturn service station.we already were in the process of getting it repair, costing us $ 2,000.00!!!!i feel that saturn should look into their customer's complaints and realize that there actually is a problem with this models transmission.this could lead to an injury or something more serious.i don't think saturn would like to have that on their shoulders!!the more complaints about the transmission problem the better and hopefully they will make this a recall for the safety of the consumers.

Transmission.

The transmission started going out on my 2001 saturn sl1 (automatic), which only has 53,000 miles on it. A saturn service agent accidentally (i think) told me that the valve body "tends to go out" in that model. A local transmission specialist has verified that, and is repeatedly repairing transmissions on this model.

My 2001 saturn sl2 recently developed a sever 'buck' in the automatic transmission when it shifts.that is, when it changes gears it either slams into the next or hesitates then slams. Reverse is the most severe as it slammed so hard that it broke the muffler from its mount at the very rear of the vehicle.the fluid has been changed ahead of schedule on the transmission, and the oils changes have also been timely.i've read on several forums that this is not only symptomatic of the make and model of my car, but predominate in quite a few of the models in the saturn family.i've since had the fluid changed to no avail of correcting the problem.the symptoms described are exactly synonymous with others posted elsewhere on electronic mediums such as here:http://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/saturn_trans.html.the symptoms have not resolved and it is obvious that saturn is aware of the problem but has not been compelled to perform any repair recompense to the consumer for what statistically must be a faulty part known as the power control valve.i realize that this appears to be more of a mechanical failure than a safety recall, as a transmission that goes on the mend can hardly precipitate a high-speed crash resulting in a fatality that would spur an immediate investigation. However, with reports of motorists being stranded, or the possibility of a severe 'bucking' while being tailgated, i would hope swift investigative action would be warranted prior to anymore consumers falling prey to an unstable vehicle purchase.

The contact owns a 2001 saturn sl2.the contact stated that the vehicle would surge and jerk when the gears were shifted.the mechanic inspected the vehicle twice but was unable to diagnose the failure on the first occasion.on the second occasion, they stated the transmission failed and recommended a replacement.the current mileage was 102,000 and failure mileage was 8,050.

While driving 50 mph vehicle stalled.driver tried to restart the vehicle and was not able to do so.vehicle was towed to a garage for inspection, andmechanic inspected the vehicle and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced.

After turning the vehicle on and when placing the gear in park or neutral vehicle jumped forward.dealer examined the vehicle, and found that that valve body assembly had been replaced.

I was driving going about 55 when the car started to loose power i pushed on the gas and it went up to 5 rpm before kicking in the transmission then it kept doing that where the rmp had to go way up before kicking. I took it to the service department to have it look at but they could not find anything wrong. However it took them three times to find out about my brake problems.

2001 sl1 saturn

The axle squeaked while the vehicle was in motion.. Front left axle has been replaced, but noise continued. Consumer took vehicle to another dealer where the technician located the problem-axle seals. Technician replaced both axle seals, and problem has been solved.

Plastic bushing on transmission cable broke.have to buy the entire cable ($240), plastic "bushing" is not available to purchase by itself - but the cable is not broken, only the plastic "bushing." saturn doesn't even have a part number for that part.found information on the internet where other saturn owners had the same problem, so it is apparently a common occurrence.reference website:http://www.coolgoose.com/sites/flemco/car/car.html for a detailed description of this saturn owner's experience (same as mine, except my transmission was stuck in first gear).i may also be posting my incident on the internet to my blog, so as to warn people who are looking to purchase a saturn.

When driving, the vehicle will at times jump out of fifth gear, and has also come out of third gear on 2 occasions, the dealer has been unable to duplicate the problem, after the last repair attempt consumer was informed by the dealer they lubed the gearshift mechanism to allow greater ease of shifting, then the vehicle displayed the longest period of normal functioning since the first repair, however the vehicle began displaying the same problems all over again.

While driving to work this morning, my gear shifter just went "loose" and the car was stuck in gear without any ability to shift. Fortunately, i wasn't hit as i was crossing the road at 6:19 in the am and i was able to pull over safely into the emergency lane. The failure was the shift cable bushing had broken. Http://www.carsurvey.org/viewcomments_review_80337.html will show more detailed comments from other consumers. Shouldn't something that can cause such a loss of control be made out of something a bit more durable than plastic and also be sold as an individual part and not a $250 assembly that costs another $250 to install? the part was ordered from saturn and will be installed by a local aamcco transmission repair shop that was the closest place to my home. The incident occurred about 1 mile away from my house.

Pants on driver's legs got caught underleft lever of front seat, anddriver could not accelerate. Dealer will be notified.

The driver side seat lock will not stay in place in order to lock the seat down.the dealership is aware of the problem.

Vehicle was rearended while at a stop, rear passenger's seatback on driver side fell forward. No injuries, damage to vehicle unknown at this time.

While being driven 40 mph, the owner noticed a vehicle driving erratic and slammed on the brakes.the driver clipped the other vehicle in the process.the rear seat back latch failed allowing the rear seat back to fall on top of the child belted in the rear.a mechanic, was unable to relatch the seat back.please describe details ts

Freeway traffic suddenly came to a stop.i stopped but was rear ended by a vehicle traveling at approximately 25 mph and pushed into car in front of me.drivers seat back collapsed.i sustained minor back, hip, bruised stomach muscles and knee injuries that i feel would have been avoided or much less severe had the seat back held. I'm having a problem comprehending gms contention that the seat back yielding is a desirable response to this or any situation (and the fact that their product adheres to all relevant standards, etc).

Saturn has engineered a front seat that folds flat when hit in the rear with sufficient force.what saturn has forgotten about during the design is the potential for severe and catostrophic injuries to rear passengers when the seat folds down during a crash.i experienced such a crash and feel that if a passenger were in the rear seat they would have sustained broken knee caps or had various parts of their body serverely hit by the seat. This would be from the head to the lower torso.saturn is very non-commital about my concern.this is a serious injury waiting to happen.it essentially make the saturn a 2-passenger car and only for front passengers.

While accelerating from a light up to ~20mph there was the smell of brake fluid/rubber burning. When traffic slowed again brakes had no response even when press all the way to the floor. Car was stopped in time to avoid accident by application of emergency brake and placing the car in neutral. Pumping the brakes failed to regain pressure though after driving to the side of the road with ebrake and restarting car a hard pump of the brakes had some resistance. Further cautious driving and pressure rebuilt. After inspection at the shop no explanation for the event could be found.

Defective brake rotors on 2001 saturn sl.*mr front brake pads and rotors had to be replaced 4 times.intermittently vehicle bucked and stalled at idle.dealer was unable to duplicate concern on road test.radio light inoperative.radio assembly replaced.

After a rain or snow day, brakes will tighten up and make a grinding noise like metal to metal.dealer was contacted.

After a rain or snow day, brakes will tighten up and make a grinding noise like metal to metal.dealer was contacted.

The consumer stated the brake pads wear prematurely. The part has been replaced five times within one year. The cause has not been determined. Please provide additional information.

When applying brakes vehicle will shutter and vibrate. Rotors are prematurely warping. Took to dealer to replace brake pads and rotors but problem still exists.dealer replaced and turned rotors once, stating there was no mechanical problem found.*jg

Vehicle would vibrate severely when brakes are applied. Vehicle been to the dealer on four occasions, but problem reoccurring. Feel free to provide any further information.

Front brake rotors have had to be "turned" two or three times and vehicle only has 33k miles on it.dealer is aware and has so far covered under warranty.

I have not even owned this vehicle for one full year and it has cost me $700.00 in less than 2 weeks.dt

Driving down a two house dead end street traveling about 20 miles per hour, when the drivers side rear wheel cilinder broke and all ability to stop was lost.after replacing the wheel cilinder, it was also realized that the passenger side brake line to the rear brake was missing several washers and then caused the brake line to leak.two weeks later the master cilinder for the brakes also failed all before i ever hadto replace any of the brake pads or shoes.

The steering column broke while the vehicle was being driven.the heat/air vents did not work.

Fingers bent and twisted index and middle fingers bent towards the baby fingers.thumbs is bent outward from the hands.extreme shoulder pain and restricted movement.both shoulders are painfulleft arm is very restricted in movement.can not raise left arm to 90% or cross left arm over chest.both arms have pain radiating down from the shoulder.steering is extremely tight/hard like the chevrolet impala.pictures of hands can be seen on http://photos.yahoo.com/miketomich.this information submitted on behalf of michelle by mike tomich 989-665-2311.

I was driving on i-10 when i heard a lous noise and than thumping. I stopped the vehicle quickly and looked at the tire.it had separated about 2 inches from the inside of the tire.when i complained to saturn dealership, they claimed a road hazard had destroyed the tire.yes there was a screw about 2 inches from the outside of the tire buried in the tread and still there.the other side of the tire separated completely all the way around the tire, leaving 2 separate pieces.they refused to help, and i bought another tire, not a firestone.i feel i had a defective tire. (tiresize: p18565r15)

Sometimes my security light goes on-when that happens, in order to start car up i have to lock all of the doors, wait 20 minutes then start up the car. It now has 117000 miles on it and it makes a loud noise and shakes at anything over 60 miles an hour

My key comes out the ignition in the run position, when the car is running.i am original owner since new.this started about the year of 2009 at about 65,000 miles.i have 165,000 miles on the car now.

I have trouble turning the ignition switch. Once started the keys can fall out of the switch. Please add this to the ignition recall because i don't want to die!!!

The 2001 saturn sl1 gas pedal constantly sticks.it is hard to push down either driving forward or reverse.the brakes must be applied before you can engage the gas pedal which has almost caused several accidents while driving under this condition.

Freezing accelerator on 2001 saturn sl1.oday i experienced a frozen accelerator cable which caused the car to accelerate very rapidly.i had driven about 80 miles and stopped at a store.when i came out of the store, i started the car and backed out of the parking slot.when i then started to go forward, and pressed the accelerator, it froze up at a rather high speed.releasing the pressure on the pedal did not cause the pedal to return to idle . The outside temperature was zero degrees.i was able to turn the key off and after working the accelerator pedal and cable for about three or four minutes (from under the hood and the driver seat-took two people) i was able to free up the cable.i would like to know if there is a recall or tech bulletin about this, and if not, suggest that one be issued immediately.it happened again a few hours later but i was prepared and tested it before i put the car in gear.the cable appears to be freezing inside the shaft.it does not necessarily do it the first time the acelerator is depressed in the cold weather.i brouhgt the car home and will not drive it again until the weather warms up.i did call saturn customer service and they are not aware of the problem and can not do anything unless a saturn dealer diagnoses the problemthe nearest saturn dealer to me is 75 miles and since the weather is still minus 4 degrees today, i will not drive the car to the dealer do to the problem.i spoke with a local general motors dealer and he has had other saturns in with the problem.suggest an alert or warning to owners and drivers be issued.

The steering column broke while the vehicle was being driven.the heat/air vents did not work.

Automatic windows do not function on saturn sl2.

It is very hard to see due to the windshield wiper's.consumer states that the dealer change the blades and installed new wiper arms but the problem still exist.
