2000 saturn sl2 was having problem with windshield wipers not working on low-steady (only worked intermittently) -- required wiper motor replacement in october 2003, which i believe is unusually short life span for windshield wiper motor

Hit mountain head on and car rolled and air bags did not deploy. Rear tire and drum broke off car while doing 50 mile per hour

While driving at 65 mph,vehicle went out of control, and rolled over. Upon impact, air bags did not deploy, resulting in an injury.

I was traveling on the freeway at 75 mph (speed limit.)the truck in front of me hit the brakes.i applied my brakes as i should have had enough distance to slow down enough.my brakes locked-up and i slid into the pick-up truck in front of me at about 65 mph.the seat belts worked, but the air bags did not deploy.my car was totaled.i was injured and taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Vehicle hit an embankment at 40 mph, and neither airbag deployed. No injuries, vehicle was totalled.

My 2000 saturn sl2 is becoming increasingly difficult to start. When the key is inserted into the ignition it refuses to turn to the "start" position without extensive jiggling of the key. This problem surfaced four years ago and was "fixed" by the dealership. The problem has since returned and is worse than ever. This seems to point to a design defect in the ignition switch that could result in a driver and passengers being stranded without assistance in inconvenient or dangerous situations.googling "saturn ignition key problems" will reveal that there is quite a widespread problem with saturn in this type of defect. Since the problem didn't go away completely i will assume that saturn is replacing the defective ignition switch with the same defectively designed switch. Saturn needs to design an ignition switch that will not fail and use the new unit as a replacement.

Important, i do not know the dates so i had to just put in a random one. This car turned itself off on 3 occasions. I brought it to saturn on all the incidents. I would be driving and start to break and downshift and the car would literally just turn off, and i was literally at the cars mercy till it would turn back on. As a former drivers ed instructor, i am just lucky i remained calm. At saturn they tried to tell me this could not happen. I demanded it did, and the one time even left the car with them for a week. I seen the recall for this exact issue but that they are only recalling till the 2003's. I am therefore compelled to make sure it is known these incidents happened as far back as the 2000 models. I also am willing to testify if need be because i was so upset. I had no idea back then how to handle it, so i let it go. However, now i know what to do and so i am filing in hopes this helps people be safe. I do not remember the dates because it was so long ago, but i believe the records should be demanded from saturn in clarence.

The vehicle powered down from 70 mph to 5, the dealer repaired/replaced numerous parts on the vehicle, however the problem continued.

I inserted the key to start the car and the cylinder would not turn; the steering wheel locked; had to have the car towed.happened again 4-3-08 and hadanother new key cylinder installed, odometer then 35449. It still feels "sticky" when i turn the key and feels like it could easily happen again.i looked on-line and this is a common problem. Now i drive the car as little as possible. I don't want to be stuck somewhere with a locked steering wheel. I'm reporting this now because of the recent ignition problems with the saturns.

I turned my car into a parking lot, and the engine suddenly just quit working.after several minutes i was able to restart the car, it also happened again while i was stopped at a red light, and again when i made a left turn into another park lot,all on the same day in less than 1 1/2 hours total time.i have had this problem repeatedly over the last about seven years.i was told when i first had trouble with the ignition housing coming loose, not to put any other keys on the key ring, and i only have the car key on the chain.i have had the ignition changed twice, and this may be the third time, on the last time i was told there were pieces of metal in the ignition that probably caused the problem.my concern is what if this had happened on the beltway instead of the street, or while i was driving (which it did,but the street was empty) instead of stopped.

Soon after purchasing the vehicle we started having problems with the ignition switch. Sometimes it was very difficult to even start the car as the switch would be frozen in place. After some play with the steering wheel it would work. Then there were times you could not turn the vehicle off without several attempts. We tried to take the car to a mechanic to see if it could be fixed but the problem continued. Now the key has to be left in at all times, you can't remove it at all. This is a safety concern with all the recalls regarding the ignition in these vehicles. Not to mention a personal concern that the vehicle could be easily stolen with a visible key in the switch.

Check engine light appeared on the dashboard and suddenly shut down.all the electrical light components were off.

While driving the headlights began to flicker then suddenly went dim.the vehicle has been to a technician 13 times for the light sensor brain control switch.*nlm

Battery cover causes battery acid to leak around postive post. Dealer notified.consumer states acid from the battery has caused holes in the frame of the vehicle. Also, steering wheel shakes/vibrates and washer failed, dealer replaced bolt and seal.*yd

Vehicle had to be realigned on three occasions by dealer due to the excessive wear on front tires. Battery replaced twice. The cable shift control replaced. Bolt and seal washer replaced. Consumer states the vehicle made a roaring noise and vibrated while driving. Both front inner door handles failed and were replaced.

A major safety-concern is the poor accessibility of the horn on the steering wheel. My inability to quickly-access the horn has almost caused me to hit several small animals and has prevented me from early-signaling other drivers in potentially-dangerous.

Had a few months, hot summer and key would not turn in ignition.manual that came with car said this could happen and if it did to turn the wheel, jiggle the shift, etc.would not have this trouble except in hot weather.on oct 29, 2010 i had lock cylinder & keys replaced at my expense by an authorized gm dealership.now it is doing it again (6/26/2014) with only 44,000 actual miles on it.only authorized dealership has ever worked on this vehicle.this has happened to my daughter who has a newer saturn and to a saturn of my granddaughters.i hate to have to spend another $310 at my expense to fix this known defect.

Ignition will not always turn out of lock posistion. You have to fight with it to get it to turn.

Ignition first started releasing the keys with out the car being turned off. Then the ignition ceased up and would not allow the key to enter more than half way. The lock up was due in part of the buzzer switch.

Starter failed and was replaced.

The switch to my power window was burned out in my car.took it to the saturn dealership in phil.they told me i had shorted out by spilling somthing in my consel area.they also said the regulator was shorted out.i knew this was a lie.whenthe car was still under warrenty they had to replace another switch because it was burnt out.i knew it was the same thing just the other switch.they also said the area in question was all sticky .another lie.they wanted 350.00 to fix problem.i said no.i took the car to another car shop the man there said the switch was burned out replaced it for 133.00.he said there was no evidence that any thing had been spilled inside consul area where the switch and regulator was. I feel that they were just trying to take advantage of me.

My saturn sl2000 is 8 years old. Recent repairs are fuel cap replaced due to broken cap seal. Rear bushings, gasket replacemant gasket top replacement and now air conditioner compressor wont work. All problems discovered since may 2008. Repairs performed on all except air condition which was discovered today 6-25-08. 1000 dollars approx. All 3month maintenance performed on schedule since purchase of car dec, 1999.

When i start my car or park it after driving the rpms shoot up extremely high & the engine races.when i shut the car off the engine makes a loud clunk due to shutting it off with the rpms that high.i have had it diagnosed several times & no one knows what is wrong.i had the air idle sensor replaced thinking it was the problem but it is not.this is very bad for the engine.

Timing chain failure of saturn 2000today while driving on an interstate highway my saturn stopped working and i had to drift to the side of the road park in a dangerous location get towed only to find out it was the timing chain that broke causing a catastrophic engine failure. I have to junk my car and get a new one.i am very distressed to find the recall of the timing chain in this vehicle and since it was lawfully registered to me am wondering why i have no recall from you?

Vehicle coolant light low indicator came on. Vehicle was taken to mechanic to service. Upon inspection oil was found in the coolant reservoir. Further inspection revealed a cracked cylinder head. Car had under 100000 miles, and had been maintained. Saturnissued company bulletin 99p01. However, they didnot feel any responsibility to repair this problem for a minimal charge due to this defect. Were only willing to offer 25% of the approximate$2200 repair charge.

I purchased the vehicle from a private dealer with an as-is no warranty back in august 2007. The vehicle had a little over 88,000 miles on it. Had the vehicle inspected by a mechanic and all major items appeared to be in good working order. Approximately 1 month later, the car came due for an oil change. I had the oil changed at approximately 90,000 miles. At approximately 94,000 miles, while driving on the interstate on november 21, 2007, the engine went bang. The car jerked violently and the oil light and check engine lights came on. I was going at approximately 75-80 mph and there was no knocking heard prior to engine failure. I pulled the vehicle to the side of the interstate and noticed smoke billowing out of the engine compartment. Immediately called 9-1-1 to report my vehicle was on fire. The fire department arrived and said the engine had not been on fire, but that the engine threw a rod through the block. The fire department asked about knocking prior and i told them there was none. In fact, a mechanic had just looked at it the day before. I recall that the change oil soon light had been coming on intermittently but never steady. The oil light also kept flickering but was never steady. The rpm's increased from 2500 to 3000 and returned to 2500. No previous history of problems reported by dealer. The vehicle was towed to northland community and technical college in east grand forks. The automotive mechanics looked at the engine and said it is totaled. Currently in the process of locating a new or used engine to replace.

When checking the color of my oil, the dip stick was found 3 times bone dry.no oil light indicator would come on and finally one time it was too late.on christmas eve my engine blew due to heat and lack of oil.i would lose 5 quarts before my 3000 mile oil change.i had to buy a used engine and have it installed by a family friend due to lack of money to fix this unexpected problem on my 5 year old car that i am still making payemnts on.

The car ran great...well, for 5-6 mos.i was in the middle of driving,when the car just shut off...the car would not start again...no warning, no lights, nothing!the car is now in the shop to find the problem.the lights and radio worked but i just heard clicking when turning the ignition. With only 80,000 miles on the car, the mechanic says that the engine is shot,there's nothing he can do other than put a brand new engine in it...with a small fee of 4000.00. Both of us do not understand why the car was in great shape and within 6 months and barely 3,000 miles the engine went from great to gone! i have read several documents from this site and there are many persons with 2000 saturns that are saying that they too have a car that stopped suddenly and the stories sound very similar to mine...i've seen many of have similar vin #s...iidentified with the docs regarding the 2000-2003 saturn l-series issues, although, mine is of the s-series (i guess, because it is an sl-2). The letter discussing this issue referred to (ea06-009), the defect petition (dp05-008) or the odi investigation pe06-006 that was opened on 1/24/06.i am not sure that those document include my vehicle being that i thought my engine was of the size 1.9l, i-4, mp, dohc. If you have the time to view the docs mentioned, they are basically describing the same prob. That i have. Will you please find out if i am incorrect with the info. That i've viewed and if there has been an investigation into the problems that i've had for over 1 yr. Consumer stated that service engine soon light came on while driving. Also,vehicle was leaking coolant due to gasket failure.

60,000 milesengine checklight came on, it turns out the intake manifold gasket had a crack and had to be replaced. I feel this was a manufacturing defect, but the dealer would not replace for free.

I have a 2000 saturn sl1 (auto trans). The oil galley plug come out of the back of the engine and broke my flywheel, torque converter, and the transmission. Saturn says it is not their fault and they will not pay for it to be fixed, but this plug can not be touch without taking the whole engine out and taking the engine apart.know this now the last one to touch this plug is saturn when they were putting the engine together now i have to pay for their mistake, now a plug that does nothing and can not be touch or a reason to be serviced, has caused $2200 of damage. Our vehicle was recalled by saturn campaign 00-c-09, and the engine was replaced.i can find no reference to this recall in the nhtsa recall database.

I was stopped by a fellow driver a couple days ago when he informed me that i had no brake lights. I pulled over and inspected my lights and realized that when my headlights are on my brake lights go out. I have heard that several of the 2000 sl1's have this problem. I would like to know if anything is being done to fix it.

Brake light assembly electrical, overheating of contacts results in faulty operation, deler recommends replacement this is the second failure of this type on this vehicle. I consider it a safety issue.

Back in august i brought my car in for an oil change only to learn that i have no brake lights when the running lights are on. I have no idea how long this has been the case. Based on the information i received at the dealership this is clearly a design flaw yet saturn corp does not feel it warrants a recall even though the part has apparently been redesigned to fix the known problem. (the service tech told me that she had seen many cars come in with the same problem and that the faulty parts had since been redesigned). I expressed my disgust in a saturn customer survey and requested that i be contacted by phone. Two months later, on 10/16/02 i spoke with "brian" for about 30 min and after it was clear that there was nothing he could possibly do regarding the situation, he said he would pass my complaint(s) on to the authorities and someone would follow-up. I'm still waiting. Ironically, prior to getting the call from "brian" at saturn, i had just returned from another visit to the saturn dealership. While i was waiting for the oil change to be completed, the same service technician who had informed me of my brake light problem proceeded to give the exact same speech to a woman waiting next to me. She too was surprised to learn she had no brake lights and this confirms that this is not an isolated incident (as the service manager claimed after his staff had already told me otherwise during my previous visit).dt

Fuel system,gasoline:storage tank assembly.nhtsa id #00v309000. Spoke to a person today and they said that my cae is not one of the affected vehicles in this recall. I have this car almost 7 years and never received a notice of this. How can i make sure that my car is not affected i feel that i will get a hard time if i ask them to inspect to make sure. Electrical problem with car,

Car will turn over and immediately stall. This will continue for approx. 10 to 15 min.each time you turn the key,it will turn over and immediately stall. As if there is no gas going to the fuel injectors; or the fuel injectors stop . No mechanic can seem to find the problem since it never happens when i'm at the repair shop. Like i said when this problem happens, it will last for approx. 10 to 15 min. Then the car will start as if nothing ever happened.

Interior overhead sagging above dome light, tried to have dealer fix (same condition after "repair"). Traction control button failed, had to be replaced. Ash tray light failed 3 times, dealer replaced. Ventilation blower only works on high speed - all other speeds burned out over 2 weeks (could smell electrical burning). Remote control works half of the time, no improvement after dealer replaced batteries, saying "white film" was a known cause of remotes not working. Change oil light came on 1000miles after last oil change, coinciding with fan blower burning out. Had to replace all 4 tires because of irregular wearing on rear and premature alignment drift on the front. Brake dust is excessive - front rims always coated black from dust. Some hesitation when automatic is shifting gears. Oxygen sensor replaced after 4 trips to the dealer to determine cause of "service engine soon light" coming on while accelerating. Adding 1liter engine coolant per month - no leaks noted under vehicle.

Instrument panel and gauges would get wet& disappearwhenvehicle is being washed or when ever it rains. Odometer could roll backmileage on its own. Would always be incorrect. Took to dealership & mechanic informed consumer thatproblem cannot be duplicated , and cannot repair problem.

Roll pin on retainer in transmission differential sheered off causing the retaining pin to wear through the bell housing and seize transmission. A roll pin is like using a rivet to hold a very important mechanical component together. This is another horrible gm design. This is an accident waiting to happen. $2300 later to replace the transmission.

Just wanting to let you know that when the car is moving or still, i can move the shift from d to n without having to press the button to unlock the shifter. Same can be said from n to r. I've never tried it when it's moving, but when the car is stopped, i can push it from d to r. That would be quite interesting to try if it were someone else's car.this was first noticed about a year ago.

While driving, there is a delayed engagement when changing gears which makes it hard to go into gear, the vehicle also coasts before engaging into gear, the rpm's will race all the way into the red zone going 30 mph.nlmtt

While driving transmissionfailed with no warning.while driving, the vehicle all of a sudden overheated and stalled.the consumers mechanic told her the intake manifold was severely damaged.

I have a 2000 saturn sl1 (auto trans). The oil galley plug come out of the back of the engine and broke my flywheel, torque converter, and the transmission. Saturn says it is not their fault and they will not pay for it to be fixed, but this plug can not be touch without taking the whole engine out and taking the engine apart.know this now the last one to touch this plug is saturn when they were putting the engine together now i have to pay for their mistake, now a plug that does nothing and can not be touch or a reason to be serviced, has caused $2200 of damage. Knowing all of this, why should i pay for their mistake. Is there anyway that you can help me. Call if you can or can't help please!

1. I purchased my 2000 saturn sl1 from a used car dealer about 2 months ago. After i started the car and shifted into reverse. For a few seconds nothing happened and i thought i was either against a bump in the pavement or it was still in neutral. I gave it more gas. Suddenly, the car slammed into reverse and i nearly lost control and backed into a car. I checked the transmission fluid level to see if more was needed. It was full. A couple days late, it did it again. Now it does it about every third reverse shift. Also the service engine soon light came on. So, i checked the computer codes and they indicated a transmission problem. I got on the internet to see what had to be done to fix it. It turns out many saturn owners are having the same problem with their transmissions. There is even a service bulletin, nhtsa item number: 612478this is very expensive repair to the transmission to fix a valve problem. Many saturn owners can't afford such a repair. So, they drive the car at the risk of backing into something or someone. Saturn obviously knew something was wrong a long time ago and didn't recall the vehicles.

My 2000 saturn sl1 sometimes has reverse & sometimes not & to get it to go into reverse you have to give it a lot of gas & it has went in reverse at low & high speeds.this could be dangerous.

Failure of reverse and 2nd gear consistent with sb612478, dated 4/2000. 2nd gear faded effectiveness over time, while reverse gear disappeared suddenly on 11/1/01.examination by mechanic found the gear ring for reverse (which also holds 2nd gear) had disintegrated spraying debris throught the rest of the transmission.manufacturer was aware of defect while vehicle was still under warranty, and vehicle had been serviced by dealer subsequent to the 4/00 bulletin.this information was not presented by saturn to the customer, and saturn has tried to claim the service bulletin means nothing.dealer/saturn corporate require examintion by their representative (dealer) prior to remedy, yet they will not do it without requiring labor be paid upfront. I purchased a 2nd saturn in june 2001, a 2001 l200, that is also having 2nd gear difficulty at only 9000 miles.my trust in saturn is in shambles -- i have been driving this vehicle for a year and half since this bulletin under the assumption that the vehicle was safe to drive, only to learn that information had been hidden relating to my vehicle.i purchased my second saturn based on this false trust, and i feel cheated. I expect saturn to remedy the defect, promtly and at their cost.

Without any warning, i got in my saturn and started it and the "service engine soon" light went on.as i put it in reverse to put it in a parking space, there was no reverse movement, only reving engine.the dealer i took it to, told me this was a "known" problem (a nut gets loose and falls off, inside the transmission.i also needed a transmission service.i was suspecious at first but i was not close to home so i paid the $440.oo. I am the third complaint with the same problem: intermittently, when placed in park or neutral or while driving, the vehicle will rpm 3,500-4,000. I have taken to dealer and private mechanics and no answer has been given. Nothing shows on diagnostic computer. When engine revs, i will place in park, turn car off, and start again. Sometimes this does the trick. This is very dangerous as vehicle will try to drive when waiting at a stop light and foot is on the brake. Please help.

Dt- was on the internet wondered if there was a recall forsaturn sl2.there was, but it didn't include this vehicle due to vin. When key is not in the ignition onecan shift in any gear, and the vehicle will roll.it can be stolen if someone chose to push it onto a truck.

The shift lever, and release button was loose at purchase. When shifting the lever slides very easy pass the gear without stopping, while driving and reaching for the radio the lever was touched by wrist and slipped into neutral without even pushing the batton on the lever. The dealer has been contacted.

The vehicle has had a history of possible manufacturer defects within the transmission as stated in the technical service bulletin #00-t-24 issued on 04/2000.the saturn dealer at which i purchased this vehicle will not even consider the defect, but instead wishes to charge me for a new transmission.my vehicle is not even 2 years old. I would hope that the corporation would stand behind there product, instead of trying to make up excuses.

Vehicle had to be realigned on three occasions by dealer due to the excessive wear on front tires. Battery replaced twice. The cable shift control replaced. Bolt and seal washer replaced. Consumer states the vehicle made a roaring noise and vibrated while driving. Both front inner door handles failed and were replaced.

Interior overhead sagging above dome light, tried to have dealer fix (same condition after "repair"). Traction control button failed, had to be replaced. Ash tray light failed 3 times, dealer replaced. Ventilation blower only works on high speed - all other speeds burned out over 2 weeks (could smell electrical burning). Remote control works half of the time, no improvement after dealer replaced batteries, saying "white film" was a known cause of remotes not working. Change oil light came on 1000miles after last oil change, coinciding with fan blower burning out. Had to replace all 4 tires because of irregular wearing on rear and premature alignment drift on the front. Brake dust is excessive - front rims always coated black from dust. Some hesitation when automatic is shifting gears. Oxygen sensor replaced after 4 trips to the dealer to determine cause of "service engine soon light" coming on while accelerating. Adding 1liter engine coolant per month - no leaks noted under vehicle.

Dealer notified and informed consumer that train axle had to be replaced.vehicle would pop and jerk into gear at 40 mph, dealer could not duplicate problem, dealer found valve body severely contaminated, torque converter metal contaminated, dealer replaced valve body and torque converter housing, replaced complete transaxle.vibration experienced while driving over 65 mph due to all four tires being out of balance.consumer states there is a noise when braking.

I have taken my vehicle in for the same problem beginning at 6,000 miles. I have taken my car to the dealer for repairs on 8 different occasions.the problem has yet to be fixed.on the last trip to the shop i was told that the problem was operator use and that women are harder drivers on cars than men.i was also told that they only made $600 on the vehicle, therefore they were not going to put any more money into fixing it.my car was not repaired properly the first time.i would like it repaired or relaced as soon as possible. No safety defect listed.

Set screw that holds the shaft that holds the spider gears in place came loose causing the shaft to back outbreaking the transmission apart and locking up in middle of road. Had to replace transmission trans is available.

My saturn clutch/transmission just locked up and does not function.i was left on the side of the road with my three small children.my car only has 52,000 miles on it.this problem should not be occuring with this milage.

Transmission had to be rebuilt at 30,000 miles, would grind when shifting to 2nd gear when cold. This was done under warranty. The car now has 62,000 miles and sometimes grinds, i am afraid it is going out again.

While stopping vehicle was rear-ended. After the collisionboth front seat backs collapsed and fell back onto rear seats.

Vehicle was slowing down to come to a stop and another vehicle rear ended sl1. Upon impact, both front seats collapsed backwards ontorear seats. Managed to pull vehicle over to side of road. Driver/ passenger couldn't see out off windshield. The consumer is concerned about future safety, especially when children are in the back seat.

There is no issue with my brake light bulb it is not burnt out.all the fuses have been checked over by qualified salesperson who had shown me that my that my brake light was still working, and yet my brake light does not work.i am afraid of driving at night, and worry constantly that i will be stopped during the day, as i don't have any explanation as towhy this one driver's side brake light does not work.i read somewhere on a saturn forum that there had been a recall over this issue, but i am unable to locate.

For 3 years i have been complaining to saturn about my saturn s series cars.one is an sl2 the other is a saturn wagon.in both cases when the weather has been either snowy or rainy or the roads have been slick when i try to turn the corner in the cars the brakes do not engage initally.i hear a clunking like noise which saturn has yet to be able to reproduce & then my attempts to engage the brakes do not work as soon as they should. This has caused quite a bit of concern since i could be on the freeway when this happens or just driving my children to school & when i take a corner the brakes do not fully engage.i was first told that i needed to replace the brakes which i did & it still didn't make a difference beyond the first month after being repaired.i have been told it was the tires again replaced but problem still has come back.i was told the roads are just slick due to the first rains, snow etc of the season.i have taken it to saturn who says they can't find the problem & although i have a history of complaining about it they have yet to offer a solution.thankfully we have yet to have an accident since i have on occasion resorted to using the emergency brake in order to avoid a collision but since i saw the article about the gm trucks having the same problem i thought that maybe someone would listen to me & have the s series saturns checked out as well. I showed a copy of the gm truck brake recall to my local saturn & asked them to check this on my car & was told it wasn't necessary since it couldn't possibly be this as i don't have a truck.i have listed the most recent incident date & the number of failures for this current year.

The consumer stated his wife was traveling about 40-50 mph coming off a ramp, she hit the brakes and when she released them, they locked up, which caused the wheel to catch on fire.the auto was taken to the shop by the insurance adjuster and the mechanic repaired the vehicle, however the manufacture did not want to pay for the damages to the auto.

When applying brakes there is vibration, dealer replacedfront brake discs 3 times.

Rotors needed to be turned at about 25000 miles due to vibration when stopping, this was done under warranty, i was told they would only due it once. The car now has 62000 miles on it and it has the original pads, they are do not need to be replaced due to wear. But the rotors need to be turned again, looking at other problems on this site, i am not the only one with this problem.i had a honda with over 200000 miles on original rotors?

Consumer states drum retainers were still in place and were never removed.adjust rear brakes and cleaned.

Had a few months, hot summer and key would not turn in ignition.manual that came with car said this could happen and if it did to turn the wheel, jiggle the shift, etc.would not have this trouble except in hot weather.on oct 29, 2010 i had lock cylinder & keys replaced at my expense by an authorized gm dealership.now it is doing it again (6/26/2014) with only 44,000 actual miles on it.only authorized dealership has ever worked on this vehicle.this has happened to my daughter who has a newer saturn and to a saturn of my granddaughters.i hate to have to spend another $310 at my expense to fix this known defect.

Rear door latches do not always latch after closing rear doors (sl2-4 door sedan).exterior door handles will stick in open position.if not noticed, doors will open when driving, usually when braking or making a turn.rear seat passengers or items could be ejected from vehicle or doors could strike other vehicles.

Ongoing problem with engine stalling. Vehicle been intodealer shop on three occasions, andproblem still reoccurring. Dealer replaced oil pan due to oil pan leak.glove box fell out due to the lock being broke.ses light on due to terminal dislodged on 5 volt reference splice pack.consumer has replaced the ecm due to stalling and found battery cable loose and fixed problem, however vehicle is still stalling.

This model of saturn has a flexible rubber bumper.if the car is parked headed into a curb, the bumper has a tendency to cup over the front curb as the car settles into place.there is no warning to the driver when this has occured.then, upon backing out of the parking space, the front bumper tears away from the car.this has happened to my car three times in twenty months and in three different parking lots, despite my efforts to avoid parking spaces that head into a curb.when it occurs the bumper dangles an inch or two below the front frame until it is reattached by the garage.the most recent time, i was driving the car home from the parking lot, when the bumper became tangled in the wheel of the car.i had to stop on a four lane highway to disengage the bumper and attempt to wedge it into a place where i could leave the road.i am concerned about the fragility of a bumper that pulls loose in typical parking spaces, and with the risk that occurs once the bumper is pulled loose.saturn tells me that this doesn't happen to anyone but me.

The driver's side front door is improperly welded to the vehicle and is totally out of alignment.both the dealer and the factory have determined that the vehicle is unrepairable and potentially unsafe.the vehicle should not have passed quality control at either the factory and/or the dealership.saturn and the dealership are currently negotiating to repurchase the vehicle.

Left rear tire had area of tread separation.right front tire had an imperfection causing a flat area.these defects produced a thumping sound when driving.tires were replaced and thumping sound is now gone. (tiresize: p185/65r15)( dot number: tire size: p185/65r15 )

All tires on car repeatedly went flat within 2 weeks of purchase. Firestone did not repair nor replace despite numerous visits & calls. Saturn refuses to assist despite numerous calls and emails. All tires have been replaced by owner 2/00 for safety/convenience after changing tires dozens of times and airing them every day. No problems since new non-firestone tires have been put on. All tires on car repeatedly went flat within 2 weeks of purchase. Firestone did not repair nor replace despite numerous visits & calls. Saturn refuses to assist despite numerous calls and emails. All tires have been replaced by owner 2/00 for safety/convenience after changing tires dozens of times and airing them every day. No problems since new non-firestone tires have been put on. Dealer notified and informed consumer that train axle had to be replaced.vehicle would pop and jerk into gear at 40 mph, dealer could not duplicate problem, dealer found valve body severely contaminated, torque converter metal contaminated, dealer replaced valve body and torque converter housing, replaced complete transaxle.vibration experienced while driving over 65 mph due to all four tires being out of balance.consumer states there is a noise when braking.

Traveling from fl to ia.tire blew out in northern georgia on interstate 75.inside of passenger rear tire came apart from rest.tire in two complete circles.had to get towed and tire replaced.very scary situation.car handled ok.no nails or cause of blowout determined by towing/tire business who replaced tired.i am worried about driving with other tires.only have 27,000 miles on them.thanks. Left rear tire had area of tread separation.right front tire had an imperfection causing a flat area.these defects produced a thumping sound when driving.tires were replaced and thumping sound is now gone. (tiresize: p185/65r15)( dot number: tire size: p185/65r15 )

When you turn the key to the on position all the lights come on. If you wait a minute they all go out execpt for engine check light. I took to dealer, and said it stays on longer then fiveminutes, and nothing was done* about it.

Interior overhead sagging above dome light, tried to have dealer fix (same condition after "repair"). Traction control button failed, had to be replaced. Ash tray light failed 3 times, dealer replaced. Ventilation blower only works on high speed - all other speeds burned out over 2 weeks (could smell electrical burning). Remote control works half of the time, no improvement after dealer replaced batteries, saying "white film" was a known cause of remotes not working. Change oil light came on 1000miles after last oil change, coinciding with fan blower burning out. Had to replace all 4 tires because of irregular wearing on rear and premature alignment drift on the front. Brake dust is excessive - front rims always coated black from dust. Some hesitation when automatic is shifting gears. Oxygen sensor replaced after 4 trips to the dealer to determine cause of "service engine soon light" coming on while accelerating. Adding 1liter engine coolant per month - no leaks noted under vehicle.

Had to replace transmission casing had a bad leak wiring harness from ignition caught on fire putting me and my families life at risk rattles real bad in rear portion of car heater quit working

Instrument panel and gauges would get wet& disappearwhenvehicle is being washed or when ever it rains. Odometer could roll backmileage on its own. Would always be incorrect. Took to dealership & mechanic informed consumer thatproblem cannot be duplicated , and cannot repair problem.

Two different incidents when placing vehicle in park or placing itin reverserpms raced very high for no apparent reason.problemwas intermittent. Consumer believed that problemwas linked to computer. While driving in cold weather at any speed the vehicle accelerateed without warning. As a result, the consumer had to shut off the vehicle. Please provide additional information.

When car is placed in driver or neutral, rpms rev up and stick. Potential hazard. Saturn said their diagnostic machine found nothing. 45 minutes after i had it checked i returned to saturn and spoke with tech and car presented with problem. He changed what he called a "heat/cool sensor" and problem subsided for 3 days. Now problem presents again.

Twice i was stopping the car--once to park and once at a light and instead of stopping the engine revved up at full throttle dragging the car forward even with the brakes pressed fully down. I had to throw the transmission into neutral and cut the engine off to stop it. No reason was ever found.

Consumer was pulling out of parking space in reverse when accelerator pedal became stuck and reversed at a high rate of speed, causing consumer to hit a tree in parking lot. Causewas unknown.

Rear window failed catastrophically due to mild thermal gradient. It is known that there was no impact of any kind within 6 hours of failure due to a snowfall which covered the window. Window failed two minutes after powered show was dusted off exposing it to cooler air. Saturn denies responsibility for the defect.

Battery cover causes battery acid to leak around postive post. Dealer notified.consumer states acid from the battery has caused holes in the frame of the vehicle. Also, steering wheel shakes/vibrates and washer failed, dealer replaced bolt and seal.*yd

The windshield wiper bolts loosened,causing the wipers to drop and not work properly.this resulted in poor visibility.the driver had to exit the vehicle and tighten the bolt.the dealershipserviced the vehicle 3 times by replacing the bolts, but the problem still exists.*sc

When having tires changed technicianstated that rim was bent .out of 14 monts of ownership rim has been replace 3 times. Dealer has been contacted. Please provide further information.
