While driving steering linkage separated form vehicle. Dealer has inspected and repaired vehicle. The consumer stated that the steering wheel was broke and stopped turning the front wheels. Also, the sir coil was broke.

Auto accident that occurred on 07/31/2015,the left front air bag deployed on its own causing injuries to the passenger in our vehicle. The vehicle was stationary and once the keys were taken out is when right front air bag was disployed.

Air bag did not deploy during a head-on collision at 35 to 40 miles per hour.

However, the driver's seat collapsed and fell back against the back seat. It seems this lack of support may have added to my muscle strain.also, the airbag did not deploy. Problems with 1995 saturn sl1. *mr smoke had come from the driver's side dash immediately after starting the vehicle, the cable harness from the ignition switch module that connected to the key/lock assembly burned, the black wire had no insulation which burned off all the wayto the grounding point at the firewall, the black wire was not connected to the chassis and also burned off.(the ignition switch failed and shorted the battery and the black wire/chassis) *sc

Actual part a small bushing connecting the shifter (1-5) to clutch cable broke off with out any warning having spoken to a number of saturn dealers this seems to be a common occurrence on further investigation i discovered similar recalls on 1996 and 97 many people might not even beaware of what the real problem was unless they removed the console like i did. Saturn claims it is the suppliers fault and that i have to an entire two cable packaged assembly in order to replace the connectortotal cost $350-$400 dollars i believe the consumer is being put at deliberate risk for there profits.

Consumer heard a knocking then a bang noise from the engine. This occurred while going up an incline at 30 mph.the noise was followed by smoke.the consumer then pulled off the road and within seconds the engine was in flames. Prior to this incident there was knocking in the engine, anddealership replaced a cylinder because it was bad.

My 1995 sl1 saturn developed a cracked cylinder head at almost nine years and only 55,000 miles.saturn issued a letter dated june 1999 stating that this may happen but it was not a recall and they would extend the warranty to 6 years or 100,000 miles, whichever came first (only had 1 1/2 years more to go).the cost to repair was going to be $2,400.saturn know of this problem and ignores any responsibility to the consumer.

Thetemperature sender on a saturn 1995 dohc engine has failed 4 times as of 106k miles. They sold me new sender at dealer, only $20, but they changed connector, for no good reason, so that old connector won't fit, and new connector costs $30. I wonder, did saturn agree to sell temp senders cheap because of known defects, but then make connector different so they can still nail you?

I purchased a 1995 saturn sedan sl1 with 32,000 mile. At 54,000 miles, the car started experiencing problems with water and oil mixing. I contacted saturn corporation about the problem they told me that they had a service bulletin out on the car. They stated that the car was over the years but under the miles for this recall. I contacted steve at saturn corp. And he gave me this confirmation number(1-2120506).

Front air foil does not have clearance during the period of (january-february), spring loaded hinges on this piece gave out and the air foil fell and dragged on the ground, dealer advise it to remove air foil and return it back in the spring.

Oil change at saturn dealership on 6/10/04. Car driven only every 10 days afterwards, then driven 400 miles to north carolina. With no dash warning lights, oil was 3 quarts low. Refilled oil, drove 1 mile, engine blew with connecting rod through block. Stopped in heavy traffic on i-95.engine replacement required, saturn acknowledged no responsibility as car not maintained in their system. Car had 64,000 miles and oil was changed every 6 months. Suggest that saturn has a manufacturing defect in engine block, lubrication or connecting rods.

Car overheated after a week of problems with the coolant fuild. At time of failure, oil was found mixed with the coolan fluid, and coolant fluid was in the engine. A cracked cylander has since been found. Car has burned oil for 4 of the 6 years. Mechanic has documentation of identical failures on 2 other 1995 saturns.

While traveling, consuemr heard a clanking noise which turned out to be a crack in the cylinder head, customer is upset due to the fact that this failure happened after 100000 miles which would not be covered under saturns special policy regarding an extra coverage for 6 years or 100000 miles. Consumer states that the air conditioning system has a degradable o-ring connection which causes massive freon leaks.

The engine seems to consume excessive quantities of oil between changes and maintenance. The average consumption (that which is acceptable >1 qt every 3000mi) so i'm told... I'm consuming approximately 1 qt every 250 mi or more! what can i do about this? has there been any recalls on the engine of the 1995 saturn sl2 line? i have been leaking oil at an alarming rate also.

Engine head was found to have a crack in the 5th journal.car running normally, was diagnosed by the presence of oil in the coolant.no trauma occured to the engine to sustain crack.all suggested regular maintenance performed on vehicle.light driving with no insult to vehicle to stress engine.repair included replacement of engine head and entire coolant system.

Car was using oil, but was not leaking or burning it. Car then started overheating, and i took it to the service station i always use. When changing anti freeze for overheating problem, found oil in the anti- freeze. This led to engine head problems. And head was sent out to be repaired and reinstalled. Drove car for about a week and it started using anti- freeze again. This time when the head was pulled off, it was found to have a crack in it and now i have to buy a new head. I have spent about $1,800.00 so far and hope i din't have to spend more. My mechanis called the saturn mechanic in albany n.y. And he said this was common with 1995 saturn sl-1s. I also looked it up on the internet and found it to be a big problem with consumers of this year car. Are you people going to do any thing about this problem. I think the comsumers of these junk cars are getting the shaft from you people, and you should be reinbersing all of us for these problems that your engines are causing. Right?.

Vehicle was brought in for other repair (alternator failure). Dealer's service department indicated that their inspection revealed a cracked motor mount. Vehicle has not been abused or involved in any sort of collision, and manufacturer's recommended service has been performed at indicated intervals. This is an ususual part to fail at this mileage and under these circumstances. Review of usenet internet newsgroups indicates that premature failure of this part is widespread and well-known to dealers. Apparent cause is inherent weakness in the original design, now supplanted by a strengthened design in the replacement part - with no admission of responsibility by manufacturer for design flaw in the original.

When taken to the dealer, the alternator was replaced again. The alternator has been replaced (3) times within a (2) year period.

Internal crack in cylinder head due to manufacturing defect, allowing oil to mix with engine coolant.occurred at 103,000 miles and 8 year, so not covered by saturn's extended warranty on this defective head!saturn should have recalled and replaced all of these defective heads, at no charge to the consumers.

This car has constantly had problems since the timing chain went at 15,000 miles. I'd like more information concerning engine failures on 1995 saturns. That is the only year they manufactured this particular engine and am interested to know why, since i coming across large amounts of engine complaints for this year.

In june of 1999 the consumer received a notice from the manufacturer that her vehicles engine may develop a crack and they would cover the vehicle for a specified amount of time or mileage.now the time and mileage has expired and the vehicle hasdeveloped this problem.the manufacturer does not want to help the consumer with the problem. *nlm

My 1995 saturn sl1 overheated in november 2002 due to a cracked cylinder head.there were 56,686 miles on the car.while there is a technical services bulletin related to this problem stating that saturns built between 1994 and 1996 may develop cracks and offering compensation if his occurs within 6 years or 100,000 miles, my car was over the 6 years that the warranty covered.in researching this problem, i have found that this is not an uncommon experience for saturn owners and feel that a recall of the cylinder heads is necessary and/or that saturn needs to compensate owners beyond the 6 year limit.

Motor,within 10k miles of driving this car it started drinking oil uncontrolably, now the car has 84k onit and every month it needs a fresh set of plugs in it because the oil consumption that blows past the pistons fouls out the plugs.in 1000 miles of driving this car it will consume 3.5 quarts of oil,the car has regular oil chages at every 2000 miles(along with a case of oil in the trunk) needless to say the car still looks awesome...but loves that oil.

Took car to saturn of san francisco when it died suddenly for 120k servicing.mechanics told me engine cylinder plugs #2 & #3 were loaded w/oil deposits.recommended rebuilding or replacing engine.they told me i should have noticed car using excessive oil.10 mos. Earlier i took car to saturn of santa maria for 100k servicing and told mechanics that engine was using excessive oil.mechanics dismissed the problems as being normal for older saturns.early maintenance could have prevented engine failure which eventually occurred.possibly a common problem with saturn engines.i have letter from other saturn owners who have experienced same engine failure problem, and same problem with mechanics at saturn of santa maria.

I became aware of an oil consumption problem when my oil light came on when the carwas 1000 miles and one month early for the next oil change.the complaint was dismissed by service techs at that time, explaining that "saturn egines run hot, and that it was not unusual to use one or two quarts of oil between changes.on a trip back to virginia form new jersey, my ses light came on, and ibegan to notice a fairly loud ticking in my engine.when i pulled over i found i had no oil in my oil pan.my engine could have seized on a major highway, and the oil light never came on (i was about 500 miles and two weeks early for my next oil change).i had regular routine maintenance at the dealership, but the dealership recently informed me that i would have to have a massive overhaul of my engine before i even had 100,000 miles on it.this seems highly irregular for a vehile which was impeccably maintained.i have also become aware of similar complaints on other internet sites.this is not an uncommon problem, but it is a very cosly one.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 75 mph the vehicle overheated.this was on the highway and there was nowhere to pull over.the vehicle was driven home and there was steam coming from under the hood.the contact determined the accessory belt had come loose and replaced the belt and belt tensioner.

Egr valve was sticking causing the ses light to illuminate and the vehicle to hesitate/stall.

My car had 26,653 miles on it, being only 3.5 years old, when the incident occcured, feb.10, 1999.the egr valve went, with no prior warning, and no earlier signs of failure. I was driving on an open highway, when car stalled. The "check engine light" lit. I barely got vehicle off to side of road. Restarted car long enough to get it to an open parking lot (approx 1 mile), where it coasted to a stop, and could not be restarted. Next morning, feb 11, 1999, had to have car towed to saturn of clarence for repair.because car was off 3 yr warantee, i had to pay for all repairs, replacements, and labor. I felt this was unwaranted, as the egr should not have become defective in a vehicle, with low mileage. Heavy carbon build-up to egr valve, needing it's replacement. Throttle body had to be cleaned for same reason. Also replaced: 2 coils, and 4 plug wires. Car not running rough prior to this incident date.new information learned indicates that saturn & gm, having trouble with egr valves prematurely needingreplacement due to carbon build-up.thank you, for your time and attention. Emergency brake button broke; button ejected when using parking brake, preventing e-brake from being used. Button and spring assembly came out, with button having two small plastic chips that were broken, preventing reassembly. This effectively preventedthe vehicle's standard emergency equipment (parking brake) from being used. No replacement buttonwas available.

The car started to make a rattling noise suddenly, over a distance of a few blocks.the noise started to get louder, turning into a grinding metal noise.the car then totally stalled out, losing all power, and luckily was able to coast off of the road due to a downhill slope. We had the car towed to houser's automotive, inc., of brookhaven, pa(610) 874-9285.the transmission had a hole in its casing about six inches in diameter and the internal transmission parts could literally be seen.when the mechanics put the saturn on the hoist, they examined the transmission and saw that a pin, or rod, about 3/4 inch thick, had broken and most of it was missing.the one end of the rod was gone, and the hole on one end of this internal component was empty, but the other end of the rod was still in place on the opposite end of the rod in this middle internal component.the transmission fluid had totally leaked out. The entire transmission had to be replaced.i saved the transmission and i also took pictures that clearly show the missing casing of the transmission.if the casing had broken on its upper side against the underbody of the car, it could have penetrated the interior of the car causing serious or fatal injury to my family.luckily it broke through the downside of the transmission casing, facing the road and did not cause any bodily harm to anyone.the mechanics said it was definitely a defect in the transmission.it was something they had never seen happen before.saturn has totally denied any reimbursement for the repair costs, even denying any reimbursement for the new saturn transmission that was installed, since no remanufactured transmissions were available for the saturn.

However, saturn says that there are no recalls for my car and refuses to fix, despite the recall that is on your website. They told me it doesn't show up in their computers, and i believe it is because it is such an old problem and car, that their databases don't have it anymore, for whatever reason.

Passenger side seat back makes a ratchet noise when adjusting seat, and the seat back reclines backwards in a fast pace when pressure is applied.

He stated that because my vehicle was not included in the original recall, they would not fix it at their cost. He further stated that the company's position is that the seat-back recliner mechanism is a "wear part" and that because my car is 5-years old, this kind of wear is expected. I disagree. My car was manufactured in 11/94. The original recall covered vehicles manufactured 1/94 -8/94. If anything, my car is newer and the mechanism should have less wear. Mr hall further stated that the high miles indicated that the part would be expected to fail. Again, i disagree. The seat-back mechanism is generally adjusted only once each trip (often not at all). Unless the part is designed to fail through normal wear, it should not fail simply because the average trip length is longer, as occurs on the reletively long commutes in alaska. Mr hall stated that the problem "lot" of faulty seat-back mechanisms was found and that the problem was fixed at the factory on my car. One more time, i disagree. I believe the original problem was not resolved and that the manufacturer continued to install faulty seat-back recliner mechanisms after august 1994. I request that the original recall be expanded to include my vehicle and any other that suffer from the same safety defect and that this safety defect be repaire at no cost to me.

He stated that because my vehicle was manufactured in november 1984 and the referenced recall was for vehicles manufactured between 1/94 and 8/94 they (saturn) was not responsible. His contention is that the seatback recliner teeth are a "wear part" and are expected to wear out in 5 years. I strongly disagree. I contend that the original recall should be extended to include all 1995 model year vehicles which suffer the same safety defect as described in the original recall.

This has been a problem from day one with this car. In looking at past receipts from previous owner, this same problem was complained about and supposedly fixed at the same saturn dealership. Cracks in both front disc brake rotors "on the inner pad contact surface" were discovered by the mechanic while having my car serviced at his station. My brakes were not in disrepair and as far as i can see these cracks developed over "normal" use. I do have to point out that my examination of these rotors show that the inner brake pad disc rotor area has a much smaller surface area than the outer brake pad rotor surface area (which had no cracks) and also the inner rotor pad surface area is also less able to effectively and safely handle the heat and stress generated by braking action. In my opinion, the inner pad rotor area on my saturn front disc brakes is poorly designed and very prone to cracking and indeed a safety hazard. Since these cracks were in "both" my front brake rotors, i would not be a bit surprised if there were many more out there with these same cracks.

Whenever brakes are applied the pedal pulsates & steering wheel moves from side to side. Dealer replaced rusted front rotors & binding pads.problem still exists.

I own a 95 saturn sl,and there was a recall on this car because of steering gear box. The problem with the gear box is that the steering gear pinion shaft was improperly heat treated, causing the shaft to fracture during vehicle operation,causing a complete loss of steering. Well last night january 10,2005 mine broke for no apparent reason. Well today january 11,2005i called the saturn place and after they transferee my call ,the man that i spoke with told me that the vin number on my car did not match the ones that were recalled. But how is it that they recalled the exact car as mine and mine brokebut they cannot fix it because my vin number does not match them. My wife drives this car all the time to transport our kids and other neighbor kids to and from school everyday. I just thank god that she was right next door at my mothers house instead of on the highyway on the way home from school with all the kids in the car and no way to control the steering.when the steering went out my wife almost landed in the ditch across the steet from my mother's house.

Actual part a small bushing connecting the shifter (1-5) to clutch cable broke off with out any warning having spoken to a number of saturn dealers this seems to be a common occurrence on further investigation i discovered similar recalls on 1996 and 97 many people might not even beaware of what the real problem was unless they removed the console like i did. Saturn claims it is the suppliers fault and that i have to an entire two cable packaged assembly in order to replace the connectortotal cost $350-$400 dollars i believe the consumer is being put at deliberate risk for there profits.

While driving from nc to ny my tire blew apart on interstate 95 in richmond, va.with a large hole and a rip, i was able to pull off the interstate.a tow truck came along and put on my spare and i drove to baltimore.the next morning a gas station put on a used tire so i could make it to ny (it was all they had in my tire size).while in ny i tried to replace the used tire with a new tire but they could not get one to hold to the wheel because the wheel was bent.they said the used one adhered because it was softer and more pliable.my brother took me to the saturn dealership in larchmont, ny, to purchase a new alloy wheel, which cost about $250.i then had to have the wheel and new tire installed.i saved the tire and the old wheel and have taken pictures.if you are interested, i will send them.( dot number: 87t m&s tire size: p195/60r15 )

During hydroplane, front passenger seat reclined and could not be returned to upright position.front passenger seat belt also became disconnected.whip lash and bruises were sustained during accident.

My complaint is with a dayton quadra se tire, size p175/70r14 the tire is 2 years old with 20,000 miles and has never been plugged or patched. It has never been flat or low on air pressure. On sept 1 2011 while driving down interstate 40 near the forsyth-davie county line in north carolina a piece of the tire's tread separated from the core of the tire similar to the way recapped tires do. The separated piece is still attached to the tire at one point but threw enough rubber off that it actually knocked a hole in the saturn's left rear quarter panel. A crack nearly 5 inches long. I believe this was similar issue to the firestone tires separating and being blamed for suv accidents 10 years or so ago. The tire caused no personal injury but i did lose control due to the pounding caused by the loose rubber. The tire never lost air pressure.

Sidewall blew out while driving.(tiresize: p175/70r14)

Original equipment on a saturn, sl1, 1995, p175/70r1484s, w2 ep vaa, tubeless dunlop, fr480. While driving downhighway felt likevehicle had a flat, rear passenger's side tiretread came off, air did not come out.

-while traveling my right rear tire tread completely came off and wrapped under my car. My saturn handled beautifully and i was able to get to the side of the road. I keep up with my tires and they were moved to the rear of my car in october of 1999. (i have receipts) also, my car was checked out completely at the saturn dealership in the sprng and in june. Tires were fine. No -one can explain why the tread came completely off. I still had good tread in the tire. The firestone dealor told me that my children and i were completely lucky because my car has a low center of gravity. That is why we didn't flip. The tire after i pulled over still held air, despite the complete missing tread, which was wrapped under my car. I have the tire and the tread with me and will take it to my saturn dealership tomorrow when they check my car for any damage. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call me. I was traveling on the freeway at 65 miles per hour.the road conditions were dry, and the weather was clear and warm.i heard a noise from the right-hand side of my vehicle, and i began to slow down.when i applied pressure to the break, i lost control of my vehicle.i believe that i experienced tire tread separation: the tread was completely apart from the rim.the tread was good on the tires.i did not run over any objects which punctured the tires.the tire pressure was checked one week prior to the accident, and the pressure was normal.my tires were manufactured in the 31st week of 1994, but i do not know from which plant.my car was totaled as a result of the tire tread separation.thankfully, myself and my passenger walked away with muscle strain and minor injuries.however, two other vehicles were involved as my car spun out of control across four lanes of traffic on the freeway. Engine oil light never came on; vehicle had oil at previous check, and no oil spots were seen. Yet, after travelling 1/4 of mile, engine died and mechanic reported no oil and needs new engine.

While driving engine check light came on. Also vehicle was losing 11/2 quarts per oil change.

While driving about 65 mph vehicle start jerking. Then engine will suddenly stall.sometimes engine light will come on.

Car loses power /a slight gas smell /car cuts out/ check engine light comes on/ starts again after a few tries/ car has beenserviced 4 times/it runs well sometimes/ then it does it again/mechanic does not know what it is/when he has car it does not do it/he does see gas all over engine a few times/

Throttle get stuck in open position, applied brakes very hard to stop vehicle.tt

Sudden acceleration is ongoing.when slowing down for a signal light the vehicle jumps from about 1200 to 1800 rpm, and sometimes it will acceleratewhile the foot is on the brake pedal.during the acceleration, the brake pedal is trying to come back up.

Cruise control malfunctioned.

After barely two years, the cruise control began working only intermittently; it now seldom works. Before the car had 50,000 miles, the sunroof would get stuck in the open position whenever it was used. Eventually, after a saturn dealer claimed it could not replicate the problem, the sunroof became permanently stuck in the open position and had to be replaced.

When slowing down and shifting transmission from 3rd to 2nd gear, rpms jum from 1200 to 1800, and vehicle will accelerate. Could result in loss of control.

Intermittent problem at various speeds, dramatic speed reduction and high speed acceleration.

While idling in park positionengine began racing on its own accord.this has happened several times while driving.contacted dealer and manufacturer. While pulling into the dealershipengine began to race. Put it in park and got the service manager to observe. He had no explanation.

The cruise control would not disengage when brake was applied and the vehicle kept accelerating.tt consumer was traveling wst and the cruise control was set, after first sign indicating consumer's exit turned off cruise control at steering colum, vehicle continued to move at same speed, attempted to disengage by applying the brakes, but nothing happened, the vehicle continued at full speed.

While driving on highway at approximately 45mph and the accelerator pedal, on its own accord, went straight to the floor.had to turn off ignition switch to shut vehicle off.this has happened twice.contacted dealer.

Throttle plate at air inlet to fuel injection system sticks each time pedal is initially pressed down from a released position, eventually releasing with sufficient applied force.this can result in a substantial jolt in acceleration from a vehicle-stopped position.saturn service confirms that this is a relatively common problem, and is easily repaired as a maintenance procedure.

While driving 65 mph on interstate accelerator pedal broke. Wner notes pedal is made of pvc type material.

When after sittin governight, and when first starting early in the morning, the throttle would stick and not return.it was diagnosed as a binding cable.

Sudden acceleration whenever in slow traffic. Dealer/manufacturer notified, and nothing could be found.

Defroster does not fails to adequately defrost windshield, causing poor visibility.

Windows fogged up on the inside. This resulted in poor visibility. Tsb 619868 wasissued on this problem.

Engine/ignition/computer/speedomer/cruise control/rear window defroster: elecrical wiring/windshield wiper motor/driver's seat latch and parking brake failed.

While driving vehicle at 40mph hit tree head-on and there was no deployment of driver's side or passenger's side airbags.owner notes that in humid weather windows cannot be cleared.

Rear window shattered by itself, throwing glass both inward and outward of vehicle which could have caused injuries. Rear window was not tampered with and no defroster/ heateror air conditioner was being used at the time. Consumer stated that it almost felt like it exploded.

Window on the driver's side door will not go up or down.dealer is not aware of the problem.

The vehicle has caused me nothing but problems, it eats oil without any sign of where it is going.the auto belt tightener is not working and cost an arm and a leg to fix.sunroof broke without any notice or cause, the fan switch never did operate correctly, now it is shifting real hard all the time while your driving, once it is warmed up.this vehicle is definitely a lemon.ak scc***dimsii ivoq posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis****744336

Locator switch on sunroof failed causing cables to fail and guides to break.sunroodf is rarely used this failure should not occur.cost of parts is way overpriced.sunroof repair is estimated at $650.00 plus tax. Valve body assembly on transmission is failling as transmission delays and shifts hard through the gears.part controls the flow of transmission fluid to the gears.

1995 saturn sl-2 sunroof failure.took it into a saturn, and they quoted 776.00 to replace the guides and stop bumbers.the retail cost of the parts (i looked it up) was 264.38.their price for parts was 398.00.the remaining was labour - 3.6 hours!*previously, i took this car to a saturn dealer who quoted me $360.00 to replace the temp sensor -- a $12.00 part.i took it to pep boys who replaced the part for 20.00.saturn's repair dept's prices are highly inflated

When it rains water leaks into vehicle around seals of windshield, dealer put sealant around windshield 3 times, and has replaced windshield once, no help.tt

Front passenger window shattered while driving.tt

Windshield wipers went completely out, during snowy weather, before going out the sprayed all the remaining windshield washer solvent left onto the windshield, wiper motor burnt out.

Windshield wiper failure while driving, due to failure of windshield wiper retaining nut on linkage assembly.dealership contacted.

Windshield wiper failure--motor burned out.

My complaint is with a dayton quadra se tire, size p175/70r14 the tire is 2 years old with 20,000 miles and has never been plugged or patched. It has never been flat or low on air pressure. On sept 1 2011 while driving down interstate 40 near the forsyth-davie county line in north carolina a piece of the tire's tread separated from the core of the tire similar to the way recapped tires do. The separated piece is still attached to the tire at one point but threw enough rubber off that it actually knocked a hole in the saturn's left rear quarter panel. A crack nearly 5 inches long. I believe this was similar issue to the firestone tires separating and being blamed for suv accidents 10 years or so ago. The tire caused no personal injury but i did lose control due to the pounding caused by the loose rubber. The tire never lost air pressure.
