While driving inrain,applied brakes (abs) which failed,another vehicle hit sl2(2nd crash); (1st crash occurred when consumer hit another vehicle which was makinga u-turn, driver's air bag did not deploy.

Driver's air bag failed to deploy, and shoulder belt did not lock intime to prevent driver from falling forward, hitting head on steering wheel. While applying the brake pedal it went to the floor. Consumer pumped the brakes, and the they malfunctioned.however, consumerwas able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it home. Vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection the next day.mechanic determined that brake lines needed to be replaced. It was later determined that the battery leaked acid on the brake line.the consumer believes the brake failure was due to the faulty design which located the battery over the brake lines.

The problem i listed was the first time i had the alternator die, it then happened on 7/3/00 at apx. 10900 miles, and again on 10/7/01 at apx. 130,000 miles. Then on 12/27/01 the battery died on the car. I bought the car used and i am not sure if the alternator that was in it was the original or not. But i have replaced it every time with a rebuilt one. I also do not know what the seatbelts are called but they are automatic ones on the shoulder and manual for the lap in the front. Vehiclecaught onfire while on way to airport. No warning was given . Consumerwas flagged by another automobile that hervehicle was smoking. Then she stopped, got out, then almost immediatelycar exploded.

Our vehicle caught on fire while we were on our way to vacation on highway 95. No warning was given. We were approached by another vehicle that the car was on fire. At this point we saw smoke coming from under the hood of the car, and immediately, the car was filled with smoke from under the dashboard of the car. Visibility in the car was almost impossibile. We tried tostop the car, but we had no brakes,nor anyemergency brakes. We tried putting the car in park, but the gear shift had been melted down as well. We had to cut the car completely off and let it coast towards aditch to stop it.we jumped out and ran over a ditch. The fire department was there within two minuets from another burning car. Everthing under the hood was melted. We were told by the firemen that under the car was also melted down.

Problems with the harmonic balancer having excessive run out causing improper serpentine belt alignment which created excessive belt wear. If problem is left unattended, serpentine belt/balancer can separate causing engine stall and loss of power steering which may cause accident. Contacted manufacturer but did not acknowledge a problem existed even though the balancer was redesigned. Balancer was replaced by the owner as a precautionary measure to prevent potential hazards. I also noticed several failure notices by other owners of this same brand/model of vehicle posted on the internet. Vehicle in question is a 1993 saturn sl2 sdn w/dohc 1.9l enginecould not find the proper category to classify the vehicle i the next pages.

My biggest problems is with the stalling of the car in the middle of traffic. I have almost been in one accident and there has been alot of times at which this car has stalled. This vehicle is very dangerous to me and my 4 year old boy and the place at which i am still paying for this car as not been cooperative in fixing this problem which was brought to there attention from day one.anna cole.

The consumer added coolant several times but the low coolant light kept coming. The dealer determined the cause to be a cracked cylinder head which was a manufacturing defect that caused the engine oil to be contaminated with the antifreeze.

Valve train seems to fail at about 95-160 thousand miles with unknown cause. Called both dealer and repair shops. Both seem to say the same. Either valve seats or piston rings fail at these points of milage. Between 95,000 to 160,000 miles with unknown cause. Some said might be the aluminum head defect, others said that there are stress cracks from the molding of the head. They all say can not really tell until taken apart and visually checked. High cost to do this. But no known recalls on the head defect or valve seat or valve train system. Also on the door hinge, the door seals let water down to the hinge and it rots out the hinge on the door, causing the door to fall or rot off.

The transmission shifts gears harshly & erratically. It's not only uncomfortable but dangerous as well. Saturn is aware of the problem because i have a copy of a technical bulletin(#93-t-22a) that they issued which describes the problem. I wrote to the president of saturn (don hudler) in april 1997.the reply i received from his office was that since the warranty is up, the need for repairs is unfortunate and they refused to reimburse me $750. They also said that just because they issue a technical bulletin doesn't mean that the car has any problem. So, after having it fixed in 4/97, the car was fine until 8/98. I'm having the same exact problem again. I can give you a copy of the technical bulletin and letter from saturn if you need it. I know i'm not the only one with this problem. Dozens of mechanics have told me that they've encountered this problem plenty of times with saturns. When i took the car to lee myles transmissions, they knew what was wrong with the trany before they even took it for a test d
Transmission fluid reservoir gasket leaks.
Transmission delays then slames into reverse when hot.the valve body was replaced four times by the same dealer.now the dealer wants to take the trans. Apart with a five hour labor charge.the cost would about $500.just to find out what was wrong all the long.with no reimbursement for the first four valve bodies.
After turning the vehicle on and placing the gear in park or neutral vehicle will jumped forward,dealer examined the vehicle, and found that the valve body assembly had to be replaced. I have a very difficult time putting car in reverse, i beleive because of the transmission...the reverse gear takes a while to "kick-in".there is a loud noise (coming from the transmission).the dealer was notified when i was under my 60day warranty about the reverse problem (there was no noise yet) and he took it for a ride and said nothing was wrong (it doesn't happen everytime). The driver and passenger side automatic shoulder restraint system has failed.both have intermittant problems, they will open and close at will for no apparent reason, safety alarm sounds randomly etc.i contacted the local saturn (of escondido) dealer and they state that it is may problem and not something covered under warranty.have other saturn owners reported problems of this nature? i have contacted saturn through their web site but have not hear from them.

There is a recall in effect for the seat recliner failure in 1994, 1995 and some 1993 saturns.my seat recliner failed in 1995, but my vin is not part of the recall.i don't understand why it isn't included in the recall when it is a failed part from the same recliner manufacturer.over the years i have asked the dealer about it a couple of times and chose not to get it fixed because it cost $250. Recently i heard about the recall and thought that finally they are aware of the problem.but my car isn't included. Why?

Valve train seems to fail at about 95-160 thousand miles with unknown cause. Called both dealer and repair shops. Both seem to say the same. Either valve seats or piston rings fail at these points of milage. Between 95,000 to 160,000 miles with unknown cause. Some said might be the aluminum head defect, others said that there are stress cracks from the molding of the head. They all say can not really tell until taken apart and visually checked. High cost to do this. But no known recalls on the head defect or valve seat or valve train system. Also on the door hinge, the door seals let water down to the hinge and it rots out the hinge on the door, causing the door to fall or rot off.

Due to the recent recall of some of firestone tires i wanted to alert you to the fact that my firestone tires which are not part of the recall also experienced the same circumstance.i was driving on an interstate at about 70 miles per hour when the right rear tires tread seperated from the tire and caused the tire to deflate.i was able to pull to the roadside before a blowout or further incident.the tire has about a 36 inch long and 3 inch wide section where the tread is missing.the tire overall is about 8 inches wide.i also have a ford explorer with wildnerness at tires that were not made at the decater plant and thus not involved in the recall.although my firehawk tires had approximately 60,000 miles on them at the time of the incident i still feel this is not normal and the tire was defective.i have had other tires that ran until the tread was bald and the tread never seperated from the rest of the tire.due to the fact that a firestone tire not indicated in the recall had the same circumstances happen to it, i don't feel the problem with these tires is limited to the larger suv tires.i feel this needs to be investigated to insure other firestone tires are safe for thepeople who have them on their vehicles.my confidence in firestone tires is lost and i will be replacing the wilderness tires even though they didn't come from that particular plant.i still have the firehawk tire that had the tread come off if you would like a picture of it i can arrange that.the tires were made in 1995.they were purchased in 07-95 in wyoming.of the 5 years on the car 2 years were in wyo. Just wanted this in the record books in case others experienced it.twice this year, i had blow-outs of my firestone tire on the freeway going 65mph.both times the blowout was caused by the treads falling off the tire.i did not think anything of it until recently and just replaced the tires. Key came out of ignition while going around corner, engine continued to run, everything else functioned normally. A locksmith cut a new key that is single sided, this does not fall out but also does not function on locks.

Water heater/defroster/ ventilation failure, when driving vehicle the windows in front will fog up without warning causing vision problems, turned the switch on but it will no clear windows, turned the air conditioner to highest speed and left it on for a period of time.
