Read complaints for SATURN SKY (2008)

Passenger airbag light is on continuously. Dealer wanted $900+ to fix. They charges me $100+ just to diagnose it & tell me there was a problem in the airbag sensor. This should be considered a "safety issue" & should be fixed at the mfgs expense.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky. The contact received nhtsa recall campaign id number 14v047000 (air bags , electrical system) and for 14v171000 (electrical system however, the dealer informed the contact that the repair could not be performed because the necessary parts were unavailable. The manufacturer was not notified of the delay. There were no failures.

The passenger air bag seat sensor is no longer working.the car is low on miles and has been well maintained and cared for.gm apparently has a high failure rate for this part and is charging $800-$900 for the fix.i cannot afford the replacement of the broken sensor.if i have an accident, the passenger airbag will not deploy.

Passenger seat pressure sensor failure. Failure is stationary and while moving

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the front passenger's air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was informed that the air bags sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was diagnosed and repaired. A dealer was not contacted. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 17v061000 (air bags) however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 25,000.

Passenger side occupancy sensor failed, and airbag will not deploy in the event of a crash even with someone sitting in the seat.began as a random failure, switching from failed to operational on each start.ultimately, stayed in failed condition.upon starting the vehicle, dash warning appears warning of system failure.dealer acknowledges this as a known issue, and research suggests hundreds of gm owners suffer the same issue.only suggested remedy was a $900-$1000 replacement by dealer.

Received multiple recall notice. Contacted the 800 no.they gave me local gm dealer who told me they don't know anything about this recall!? the recall reference no is 17036.what should i do now?

I have a 2008 saturn sky with 42000 miles after starting the car the airbag warning light came on and the passenger airbag is turned off light was on, after having it looked at was told it had a body code b0081 defective passenger seat pressure sensor. This repair would cost 1000.00 to repair and it has no recall on it and it will happen again in time. General motors has a recall on the ignition switch and the airbags may not work in a crash it was a safety problem, well this is a safety problem with the airbags disabled and general motors will not own up to the sensor defect until someone gets hurt or is dead

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that the air bag sensor would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v061000 (air bags). The parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The phillips highway dealer was contacted and stated that the remedy was not authorized. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Passenger occupancy seat sensor failed. Gm will not cover the $1000 repair even though this is part of the safety/airbag system and a known failure with many vehicles.

Please see attachments, bottom line, despite recall (17036-01: safety recall ' passenger presence system ' 2006-2010 pontiac solstice & 2007-2010 saturn sky) on passenger airbag sensing module, gm is refusing to honor the recall and its conditions.

The passenger seat sensor for the air bag failed. This problem has been reported before. This should be under recall. With the number of complaints that you have received why has then not happened.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the passenger presence module sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000. Updated 06/29/16*ljupdated 07/13/16.

Service air bag light is on when engine starts & won't turn off. Had replaced.

Service air bag warning light for no apparentreason.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky. The contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 14v047000 (air bags, electrical system). The dealer stated that the parts were unavailable to repair the vehicle and could not provide an estimate date of arrival. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Service airbag warning light went off, this should be warranty issue.

Gm recall 17036 - passenger airbag sensor defect. My sensor failed on 6/8/2018. The local dealer confirmed the failure and ordered parts under the recall on 6/15/2018. As of today, 7/18/2018, the part is still not available and no eta is provided. Gm refuses to reimburse me if i have the vehicle repaired or provide them with a genuine gm part for them to provide the repair.this is a recall that is not being addressed by gm and i am left with an unsafe car and no eta on repair.

My airbag passenger is on, my car is 16,538 mill

Takata recall, passenger seat light remains on all the time the car is turn on.

The passenger air bag seat sensor does not work. The car only has 39,000 miles on it and has been extremely well maintained. Gm is charging $$900-$1000 to repair the broken sensor. The passenger airbag will not deploy and invites injury. This is clearly a safety issue and should be recalled immediately.

The passenger seat air bag sensor has failed.if you do research you will see a high percentage of saturn sky's and it's sister platform car the pontiac solstice has had numerous failures due to a defective sensor module.other manufactures that use the same module (like bmw) have issued recalls on this safety issue.if you compel gm to provide you with the number of repairs they have done on these cars you will see that the failure is wide spread and happens even on low mileage rarely used cars.gm should has failed to respond to this safety issue and should be forced to do a recall on the passenger airbag seat sensor.

Passenger presence module not working

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky. The contact stated after getting his vehicle remedied for a recall nhtsa campaign number: 17v061000 (air bags) back in october 2018 the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer automotive masters 3815 washington rd, augusta, ga 30907 for a diagnosis. The diagnosis was 2036 1063 pps assembly shorted internally. The manufacturer was made aware but stated the failure is outside of the 12 month warranty. The failure mileage was 70,000. *ln

My 2008 saturn sky only has 44,000 miles on it. I bought the extended warranty but because i garage it in bad weather it is no longer under warranty. I am paying 1100.00 this week to replace the passenger air bag sensor. This is ridiculous that i am paying for something this important when the car still has the original tires on it because it is so well taken car of. The only reason i am paying this is because of the importance of safety and this should be a gm problem not mine. Shame on gm, since other cars with this issue have been recalled.

This is an open recall:"if an active fault exists in the pps system and a crash occurs, the sdm will not deploy the front passenger airbag. If an adult is occupying the passenger seat, the suppression of the front passenger airbag could increase the risk of injury to the passenger." this is still not addressed by gm!why are they not being forced to correct this situation?manufacturer recall number: n172080280

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky turbo. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v061000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called rivertown buick gmc (1661-b whittlesey rd, columbus, ga 31904) and was informed that the part was unavailable. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The vin was not available. The contact had not experienced a failure.

The air bag warning light is on at all times and "service air bag" appears in the driver information center and must be cleared after each start. The issue has been determined to be a faulty passenger presence sensor located in the bottom of the passenger seat. This has now rendered the passenger airbag inoperative at all times and possibly affects the safe operation of the entire srs system. After doing some research online, this is a very, very common problem with the saturn skys and pontiac solstices. It is very expensive to fix (around $800-$1000 for parts and labor) and apparently the replacement part has an equally short life expectancy and seems to develop the exact same problem for most of those that have replaced it thus far (according to research done online). This creates a very dangerous situation particularly since these 2 seat cars are quite small with plastic body components therefore making the airbags a necessity in a collision. Gm, as well as their dealers are very aware of this problem but appear to be doing nothing to remedy the situation. Clearly it is nhtsa's duty to force their hand and make them recall these cars and replace these parts with a redesigned part that will work properly and that has an acceptable service life!

In 2011 my airbag service warning light came on. I had it repaired at no cost since it was under warranty.today, october 12, 2014, the airbag service warning light came on again. The car has less than 45,000 miles and is no longer under warranty.i feel this is a real safety issue and definitely some kind of defect. I feel that i should not be responsible for this cost.i have done research and found other saturn sky owners have had the same problem.i am wondering why there has been no recall for this issue.in addition, i received a recall letter for the ignition problem and have been waiting months for parts to come in.thank you.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v061000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Starling chevrolet buick gmc in saint cloud, florida and starling chevrolet in orlando, florida were made aware of the recall and stated that the parts were unavailable. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Took vehicle in for recall on passenger presence sensor.recall #17036.now, vehicle displays a airbag warning light.it had never displayed a warning light prior to recall.

Passenger presence seat sensor stop working and disabled passenger air bags due to issue from previous recall that was supposed to be fix.

I have received the second letter in regards to the 17036 recall on the passenger airbag light not working. According to the website and the dealer a fix isn't available, but according to the letter and customer service at saturn a temporary fix is. I have been getting the run around with saturn they call the dealership and set me up with an appointment and when i went there the dealer had no available information for this recall.called saturn again today and got the same story she called the dealer and said they would call me right back after they order the part. The dealer did call me right back but said the part wasn't available yet for them to order and to wait until i get the final notice.i am tired of saturn giving me the wrong information and being sent on a wild goose chase. My light isn't working at this time so i have no idea what impact that has on the airbag whether it would deploy or not if i needed it.i hope we never have to find this out the hard way.

Service air bag light has come andpassenger side seat sensor is malfunctioning. This is an extreme concern to me because if the vehicle were to get in a wreck with a child in the passenger seat the air bag may deploy and fatally injure the young passenger. General motors needs to recall all saturn sky roadsters from years 2007-2010 as all model years are affected. This is not an isolated issue. This issue has occurred with many other vehicles as a small amount of research can indicate. Thank you!

Warning light shows airbag needs to be serviced with no crash incident. Dealer will not fix or recall without large fee. I noticed lots of other recalls for same part on other gm cars.

Takata recall-i called my local dealership to have the recall repaired in may 2017. I was told the parts were in and was allowed to make an appointment. I took my vehicle in as scheduled, waited in the waiting room about 10-15 minutes to be told they "made a mistake" and the parts weren't available yet. I gave them my phone number for them to call when the parts were in and have not heard from them yet. Since then i have received 2 notices regarding the recall. I have called again (6 months later) and now they are saying the car was repaired. I was also told the recall was closed "manually."the recall should not have been closed because repairs were not made to the vehicle. Again they are going to call me back. This has been a complete waste of my time because i have to take a day off work to get the issue resolved. The dealership in question is wakefield buick gmc in spartanburg, sc

Takata recall--i have gotten 2 notices--no known fix according to gm.ignition recall--took in for repair--didn't repair properly--i had to spend my own money replacing ignition switch because they said i didn't bring back earlier.

The passenger side air bag seat sensor is failing and is a known issue by gm and saturn, this is a known safety issue that is endangering people's lives.

This is my third pontiac solstice or saturn sky that has had the passenger air bag service light activate in the 50k miles range. Very seldom does anyone sit in the passenger seat, so wear does not seem the be the problem.

The vehicle was being driven at highway speeds, upon avoiding a collision with another vehicle, the saturn sky i was in had collided with the concrete center divider and became airborn. The airbags did not deploy after first colliding with the divider, nor after it had landed back onto its wheels. Hazard lights were operable, onstar did not activate. Injuries were sustained to both the driver and passenger.

Passenger presence sensor is broken. Now, airbag is inactive no matter if someone is sitting in the seat.

My cars air bag light came on i took it to the dealer and it would not pass state inspection due to the passenger module sensor. I had to pay over 900 dollars to get it fixed. I have heard multiply people complaining about the same issue. Therefore i think there should be a recall. I did nothing to cause this failure to happen yet i am responsible to pay for it.

Passengerpressent sensor has failed in passanger seat. Service air bag light on in dic. Passanger air bag will not deploy in an accedent according to owners manual.

I'm a single woman, and hardly anyone ever sits in my passenger seat.the "service air bag" light has come on out of nowhere.no one was sitting in the car when the warning light goes on.nothing heavy (besides a few groceries from time to time) has ever been put in the seat.

Passenger airbag light, the passenger airbag sensor is bad indicating it will not work in case of an accident.

Passenger air bag light says off when someone is seated or unseated. Also shows red error airbag light on dash. Per the gm dealer, they say the passenger airbag will not deploy.this is a major safety issue that needs to be recalled.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky. When the passenger seat was occupied, the air bag sensor was not illuminated and the ocr sensor failed without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 101,000. ...updated 03/13/17

The "service air bag" message started to intermittently display.my understanding is that it is a faulty passenger presence sensor (pps), and that gm will not pay for the repair or issue a recall.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated and remained lit, which was a safety concern. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 17v061000(air bags) by conklin chevrolet salina (2700 s 9th st, salina, ks 67401). Passenger presence switch is not working.passenger side air bag is turned off!

At 39600 miles the passenger airbag sensor failed.

My wife and i had picked up our 2008 saturn sky from the dealer and were about half way home , a 28 mile trip each way, when a chime went off and said that the passenger's air bag had been turned off and my info screen that had been showing me the coolant temperature was now saying ''service airbag'' . Long story short , gm dealer wants over $1,00.00 to fix. Over $500.00 of that is just for the switch ! after spending over 6 hours researching this problem on the internet it seems that this has happened to thousands of sky and solstice car owners plus all kinds of other models and brands , a lot of them fixed free of charge after a recall was issued. Recall for the 2003-2007 cadillac cts for the same issue... Nissan murano and the list goes on. Looks like most sky and solstice owners are not having the air bag sensor in the passenger seat fixed due to the high cost and the likely hood that it is just going to break again,

The service air bag indicator came on for no apparent reason.just driving down the road with my wife sitting in the passenger seat.don't know for sure what it means but after visiting the dealer service center, i know i cannot afford the repair at this time.if gm can assure me that this is not a safety issue for my passenger then so be it.if gm cannot make this assurance, then gm needs to be recalling and repairing the safety equipment.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v061000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Harnish buick gmc dealer located at 820 river rd, puyallup, wa 98371 was made aware of the recall and stated that the parts were unavailable. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

While driving on a trip up north, the air bag light came on and "service air bag" appeared in the driver information center. After taking into get fixed, the issue is a faulty sensor in the passenger seat, rendering the passenger airbag useless. After doing some research online, this is happening a lot with the saturn skys. It is very expensive to fix (around $1000) and very dangerous, and should be a recall.

With the vehicle (2008 saturn sky) in motion on a highway, the "airbag service" warning appeared on the display / readout. Took the sky to a gmc dealer and was informed the passenger presence module failed. Approx $950 to fix. If not fixed, the airbag wont diploy.

I have been trying to complete my recall for 2 months now, and am told by all dealers that parts are not available from gm to make the recalled repairs.i consider this to be a situation in which the recall is not actually effective, and am making this notation to ensure that appropriate parties are held liable in the even that any damages result from gm's inability to execute this recall as required.

My 2008 saturn sky with38982 mileshas the passenger presence sensor fails,p/n19124219. The airbag on the passenger side becomes disabled , the parts cost $400 and the dealer is charging me $200 for reprograming. It looks like to be a common problem on these cars

Airbag warning light came on.we bought vehicle 8/21/2018 with 26639 miles. We took it to gm dealer to have new key fob programed and they told us about the recall and we took it in for that which the warning light had never came on before they worked on it and now it has.

This light comes on and off random. Been doing this since i had the car. In many forums there is a lot of the same complaints

The airbag light came on in the car during a trip while driving on the highway. There is an internal fault in the passenger seat suppression module according to the local gm dealership. This results in no deployment of either of the airbags in the event of an accident/crash. This is a safety issue. The cost to replace this module is nearly $800.

Takata recalli started the 2008 saturn skywith someone seated in passenger seat ,air bag light said airbag was off for passenger side and service airbag light came on. Took to gm dealer and it was diagnosed as bad module and would cost $936.62 to fix. I did have it fixed and paid the $936.62 for safety sake.this issue really needs to be addressed and on recall before someone is killed.

Air bag warning light has come on in my saturn sky and stays on.i drive a 2008 sky so the vehicle is not even 10 years old and should not be having problems with airbags.a "service airbag" message appears on center console.from research i've done this is very common on the saturn sky model and can be a huge safety issue since the passenger airbag will not deploy if car is in an accident.the estimated cost to fix the sensor is about $1,000.this is a huge consumer safety issue and there needs to be a recall to fix this issue.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky.the contact stated that the passenger side air bag sensor was defective and caused the air bag to deactivate.the dealer stated that the air bag sensor needed to be replaced.the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified.the failure mileage was 60,000.

I formally request that nhtsa investigate the passenger sensing system for air bags in the 2007 to 2010 model year saturn sky, as well as its platform twin, the pontiac solstice. As you will notice in the white paper attached to this complaint, there is clear evidence that there is a systemic defect in the pss, that causes them to fail. General motors has admitted that similar problems exist in other gm cars of this era, but has refused to publicly investigate this series of cars. In a roadster, this is particularly important because these cars lack a back seat. When the pss fails, the only place a passenger can go is into a seat - a seat which now has the airbag disabled, after the pss fails. As the white paper notes, the replacement parts are just as prone to fail as the ones being installed today. I implore nhtsa to investigate and act on this matter, as approximately 100,000 of these cars were produced - and all of them are likely to eventually suffer from this defect, based on the technical data collected by the community. Thank you.

The airbag light illuminated indicating an issue with the sensor in the passenger presence system.i had the car examined by the dealer who diagnosed a problem with the passenger presence system.the car has approximately 46k miles and at the time of the light illuminating had approximately 38k miles.the dealer stated that because the car is out of warranty, i am responsible for the cost of the repair.i elevated the issue to gm corporate who stated that they would not repair the vehicle at their cost but offered me a $1000 gm loyalty credit towards the purchase of a new vehicle.i was told that the pps defect disables the passenger airbag.this is a safety issue as it may result in a serious injury or loss of life should the airbag not deploy in an accident.the ignition switch was replaced under the recall for similar risks. At this point, i have instructed my family to not allow anyone in the passenger seat as we would not be able to safely protect a passenger in the event of an accident.this is creating a loss of use for me and my family.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky. When a passenger was seated in the front passenger seat, the air bag light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to more than one dealer and a permanent remedy could not be provided. One of the dealers indicated that there was a short in the tps sensor, which was causing the light failure. The dealer stated that the tps sensor and module may need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 7,000. Updated 06/29/16*lj

Driving home from the store and the service airbag warning came on and now the passenger airbag will not function. Looking on the internet this seems to be a common occurrence with a very important piece of safety equipment. I feel that with the large number of problems occurring with thepassenger seat sensor that there should be a recall.

The passenger seat passenger presence sensor failed, and had to be replaced.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky redline. The contact stated that the air bag off indicator did not illuminate when an occupant was positioned in the front passenger seat. The failure occurred sporadicly. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on five separate occasions, where the passenger presence system sensor and the sensing diagnostic module were replaced at different times. The failure continued to occur after the repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 6,027. Updated 9/19/11 updated 01.23.12

I have a saturn sky in the recall and it's my understanding we can get a loaner for free while we wait for parts to come in. Orr chevrolet in texarkana said all they have to loan is cobalts, and this concerns me for obvious reasons. I asked if he knew those are also recalled and he laughed and said yes but that's all they got. I suggested they take a vehicle off their used sales lot that isn't made by gm but they can't do that. Obviously i didn't take the even less safe cobalt and i'm still driving my sky, but i'm concerned that they're offering the most deadly car of them all and that other drivers may end up taking them, possibly for months.

While driving on the expressway, the car completely lost power for several seconds, and some of the trouble lights on the dash lit up.while trying to exit the expressway, power came back and the dash returned to normal.the same scenariohappened again nearly a year later.gm technicians could not find anything wrong.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky. Five days after the vehicle was repaired per an ignition switch recall, the factory radio failed to work. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer provided no repair solution. The recall details were unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 22,655. Updated 09/08/16*lj

To whom it may concern,i would like to notify the nhtsa as well as gm that the recent hummer recall does not include vehicles that share some of it's components that are being recalled currently.it also effects the chevrolet colorado, gmc canyon trucks.as well as the vehicle i drive which is the saturn sky and it's identical pontiac solstice.the sky/solstice has the same hvac unit and wiring harness that is being recalled due to fire risks in the hummer.i have called my local chevrolet dealership and there are no active recalls for my sky.in order to get the revised part that is being installed in the hummers, it would cost me $150 out of pocket without labor.being that this is my only vehicle for work and school, i fear for my safety due to the fact that this is a low volume vehicle in comparison to the hummer and it will be ignored by both gm and nhtsa.i believe if one vehicle gets recalled for a particular component, it is the job of both gm and nhtsa to see if said components were used in other vehicles, to which gm did for 4 other vehicles; colorado, canyon, sky, and solstice.thank you for your time.please note this complaint is simply to notify, my car has not caught fire, but i do know that my a/c is acting odd lately and i am worried about my safety and the safety of others that is being ignored.

The purpose of this e-mail is to notify you of problems i'm experiencing trying to get the recall accomplished on my sky.i've called scholfield (the designated repair dealer for my area) multiple times and am getting a run around.they tell me they can't get the parts and it will be 6-8 weeks before they expect a delivery.i'm wanting to put out a notice that if there is an issue with this car while waiting for an inexpensive defective part, there may be other outcomes, most assuredly undesirable.whatever can be done, needs to be done as this vehicle is a potential threat on the roads and that is not due to my persistence in trying to get the mandated recall done.according to the letter, "you should contact your gm dealer to arrange a service appointment as soon as possible."i have tried to do this on numerous occasions, only to be put off by the service department.any assistance you could offer would be much appreciated as this doesn't seem to be a priority for the dealership.

The "service air bag" message started to intermittently display.my understanding is that it is a faulty passenger presence sensor (pps), and that gm will not pay for the repair or issue a recall.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky. The contact received nhtsa recall campaign id number 14v047000 (air bags , electrical system) and for 14v171000 (electrical system however, the dealer informed the contact that the repair could not be performed because the necessary parts were unavailable. The manufacturer was not notified of the delay. There were no failures.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the air bag warning light illuminated. In addition, the service air bag warning message was displayed across the message board. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 14v047000 (air bags, electrical system).the failure mileage was 26,000.

Passenger air bag light says off when someone is seated or unseated. Also shows red error airbag light on dash. Per the gm dealer, they say the passenger airbag will not deploy.this is a major safety issue that needs to be recalled.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky. The contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 14v047000 (air bags, electrical system). The dealer stated that the parts were unavailable to repair the vehicle and could not provide an estimate date of arrival. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact had not experienced a failure.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky.while driving approximately 55 mph on normal road conditions, the check engine warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel.immediately, white smoke appeared from the instrument panel, which resulted in reduced visibility.the vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road with caution and roadside assistance was called to the scene.the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for inspection and they stated that the heating and air conditioning system caused the failure.the system was replaced.the contact smelled a strong odor of coolant inside the vehicle following the repair and the traction control failed to operate.whenever the vehicle was in operation, the abs warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel.on six separate occasions, the vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer for identical failures, but there were no resolutions.the failure mileage was 2,000 and current mileage was 15,500.

I have seen the recalls in the news for the saturn sky 2006-2007 models, and looked up what happened, and i think the ignition switch problem has happened to me in the 2008 model. I was driving on a state road, and suddenly the car just stopped. I was able to restart it, and nobody was around to hit me, but i never understood what happened. I remember being very afraid of another car coming along and hitting me. Now i see this is exactly what happened to other people. This never happened to me again, and i forgot all about it until now. I just thought it was a freak thing at the time, but i wonder if the 2008 model also needs to be in the recall. I'm not feeling very safe right now, given that gm did not recall all affected cars in the past.

I am trying to replace the turbocharged unit but all 3 purchase had an internal crack. Is this a common problem unknown by consumers? should i be worried that this problem will continue?

Trying to find out about the long delay in getting the ignition part for my vehicle . I contacted my dealer faulkner gmc of trevose pa back in aprilthey ordered the part and as of this e mail has not received the part from gm.i would like to know why it is taking so long . I have kept my driving to a minimum in the vehicle but a 5 months delay is inexcusable as well as dangerous.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky. While driving various speeds, the coolant warning indicator illuminated. The contact mentioned that coolant was added to the vehicle every two days. An independent mechanic stated that the coolant system needed to be flushed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to harry green chevrolet nissan (1858 e pike st, clarksburg, wv 26301) where they flushed the coolant system. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted again. The vehicle was taken back to the harry green dealer where it was diagnosed that the thermostat and thermostat housing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and was taken to an independent mechanic where the cause of the failure was undetermined. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning, oil was leaking from the vehicle, and the coolant was not in the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to another independent mechanic where they stated that the oil pressure needed to be repaired, the valve timing was not in sync with the piston, and the intake cam shaft was over advanced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer wasnotified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 106,000.

Instrument panel lights are not illuminated during daytime, making it difficult to seethe speedometer, gas gauge, etc. This is true whether the car is in motion or not.the instrument panel lights should be on whenever the ignition switch is on.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky.the contact stated that her vehicle has been leaking gasoline for approximately three months.the dealer could not determine the cause of the failure; however, they found a hole in the hose and made the repair.she went to pump gas into the vehicle and fuel still leaks out.the current and failure mileages were 67,000.

*ln

While turning left, the driver seat snapped causing the seat to lurch right.the seat failed unexpectedly during normal use.

I brought my saturn sky that was manufactured by gm to my local chevrolet dealer. They told me that the module is not on recall although many other models that gm makes did and does have a recall for the same product. I will no longer let anyone ride in the passenger seat. I would hope that someone would force gm to do what they have done for all their other makes and models. If someone gets hurt or possibly killed i will have to be forced to sue someone. They say the process costs $900 and i think if anything they should pay for at least the parts. How can they recall other models and not this model?

Passenger side occupancy sensor failed, and airbag will not deploy in the event of a crash even with someone sitting in the seat.began as a random failure, switching from failed to operational on each start.ultimately, stayed in failed condition.upon starting the vehicle, dash warning appears warning of system failure.dealer acknowledges this as a known issue, and research suggests hundreds of gm owners suffer the same issue.only suggested remedy was a $900-$1000 replacement by dealer.

Passenger air bag light says off when someone is seated or unseated. Also shows red error airbag light on dash. Per the gm dealer, they say the passenger airbag will not deploy.this is a major safety issue that needs to be recalled.

Passenger presence seat sensor stop working and disabled passenger air bags due to issue from previous recall that was supposed to be fix.

When first starting engine in the morning or after vehicle sits for a bit, the breaks literally do not work.this is a known problem across the internet and one that nobody at the service department at any dealership has a clue how to fix.if my car rolls into the street of my steep inclined driveway?i'm dead. It happens every day. The attachment is one of thousands.

Brakes/ vacuum does not function properly when starting the vehicle.took it to gm for a few adjustments (which did not work) and they say that the car must be warmed up for 1 minute or more before driving.that is unacceptable living in warm weather climate. Why should i have to wait to drive a new car in order for the brakes to work and be safe.it's a safety issue and now i cannot let anyone drive my car, or go to a valet in fear that they will hit something or someone.

I started my 2008 saturn sky and while backing the car out of the garage i almost hit the garage because there is virtually no power assist on the brakes upon startup.i have seen that there si a tsb out on this for cars sitting extended periods of time.this car only sits overnight at most.this is not a one off event.if my wife or daughter were driving the car they would defiantly hit something because of their inability to apply enough pressure to the brake this could easily lead to an accident .

Brake failure. Hard brake pedal resulting in the brakes not holding the car at a stop.on july 4, 2012 while stopped at an intersection the brakes failed to hold the car inplace resulting in the car creeping into the center of the intersection into oncoming traffic. A jeep with 6 people and an infant hit the right front side of the car and flipped over. The infant and 2 of the people in the jeep are in the hospital. The accident happened on hwy. 84 in daleville, alabama.

Brakes fail when the engine is cold which could cause an accident.

My car was parked in the driveway on an incline, emergency brake was set.my car rolled down the driveway and off an embankment. The emergency brake was still up when it stopped.the car was a total loss.

I bought this car (2008 saturn sky redline, automatic, build date 7/07) used from a personal owner on 3/15/2014 with 56,607 miles on it. After leaving it in my garage overnight i started the car and proceeded to drive out of my garage. At the end of my short driveway i applied the brake pedal to stop before i turned onto my street. The brake pedal did a series of pulsations and went almost to the floorboard without stopping the car. The car continued into the street before i could get it stopped. At first i thought i had a bad master cylinder or a brake fluid leak but as i continued on slowly i eventually got a full brake pedal and the car stopped every time as normal from then on. After getting home i researched my problem and found that many 2008 sky redlines were experiencing the same problem. Evidently gm made a change on some of the 2008(only) redlines braking system by omitting a "vacuum assist pump" or something like that. Gm changed the brake system back to include this pump in the 2009 model's. The brake problem on this car, and other 2008's, is extremely dangerous. I was not warned of this condition from the seller, which is not gm's fault, but these affected cars should be recalled and equipped with the regular braking system as on the 2007 or 2009 sky redlines. I also found out that there was a sticker on the outside of the dash from gm on "some" of the new 2008 cars telling of this type of system and what to do....but it was just a sticker the new owner pulled off as it was not meant to be permanent. By placing these stickers on the new cars gm knew there was a negative, possibly fatal, aspect to this braking system. They did nothing to correct it on the affected cars but did change it the next model year because of owner complaints i'm sure.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky. While reversing down a hill, the brake pedal was depressed and started to shake without warning. The contact stated that the brakes failed and the vehicle rolled backwards and stopped at the bottom of the hill. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.

The 2008 saturn sky redline failed the hawaii state safety check because the parking brake does not function.the dealer that did the safety check could not fix the parking brake.

After first starting, the vehicle has no brakes. This issue occurred the first time i backed it out of the garage. The brakes were very soft and i had to keep pumping them. I contacted the dealer and they said that you have to let it warm up first. I took the car in and told them that this was unacceptable and could result in an accident. They made an adjustment to the brakes, however, they are very hard. This is a very serious problem and it needs to be addressed.

I purchased a 2008 saturn turbo sky in september 2007.in january 2008, i took the car in for service because of the brakes.afterthe car has sat for a period of 5 hours or more and is moved, the brake pedal pushes almost to the floor the first 3-4 times brakes are applied.you are not certain the car will come to a complete stop.saturnkept the car overnight and told me there was nothing wrong with the car....that turbo sky autos all operate in this manner.they tell me that all turbo autos operate in this manner.i do not believe this for an instant. I witnessed a tech move the car, stopped the car, came out and informed his supervisor that he would not drive the car the way the brakes functioned.they kept the car another day and the next day i realized nothing had changed.later, i was informed that the ntsb was looking into this problem.last month, i received a letter saying that saturn was aware of a braking problem with the turbo sky and i was asked to bring the car in for a calibration adjustment.i did this, received the car back and it's basically the same.i would like to know if there really is an investigation going on or is this just my car.i've discussed this problem with people i know very familiar with turbo engines and they say this should not happen at all.i will look forward to hearing from you.

No brakes on cold start. First thing in the morning or when car sit for more than 4 hours. Terrified to try cruise control as i heard it will cause brake failure while driving. Dealership said it was "normal" and needed to let vacuum build.

While starting up my 2008 sky redline, the brakes do not work.i went to reverse out of the driveway and when i applied the brakes they did not work.i had to floor the brakes and it still kept going.this has happened to me 10 times and the car is only a month old.there are plenty forum discussions about this on www.skyroadster.comthis must be addressed.someone could be injured or killed.also, what if you gave the car to a valet or someone else to drive????anyone would be extremely scared.it's definitely a safety issue.please resolve!!!

2008 saturn sky redline 700 miles on the od brake problem. Cold start produces pedal vibration and little or no brake power. Fortunately i haven't ran into anything.

At start-up of my brand new car the brakes do not work.i go to reverse and the car does not completely stop.it's extremely dangerous and scary.there are plenty of forums on this issue at www.skyroadster.comthis must be resolved before someone is killed.

My car is at saturn of hickory for the third time because of the brakes they said they cannot fix them it is a defect i have asked for my money back with no answer as of yet my brakes were like this from the very first day. The first day i went to drive the car i called the sales person that sold us the car and told her hey something is wrongi have no brakes !!!! they have said that you have to let the car warm up first but that is not in the manual nor did the sale person tell us this. I have almost hit something numerous times in this car already and it only has about 2000 miles on it. I should not have to sit and wait for a car to warm up before i can drive it in the summer time !!!!

Saturn sky redline when start car you have no brakes.

I own a 2008 saturn sky redline.my vehicle suffers the problem listed in several similar complaints logged with the nhtsa and mentioned on multiple saturn sky forums - brake system not working adequately after starting the vehicle once is has sat overnight.typically takes 30-45 seconds to build sufficient vacuum for brake system to function normally.no accidents as i was aware of the issue when purchasing the car.however, in my opinion, it does pose a safety issue and should be corrected.

2008 sky redline turbo..no brakes or very hard brakes when first starting car.car has only 55 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky.while driving 5-10 mph, the vehicle would not stop when the brake pedal was depressed.the contact stated that the failure would occur after the vehicle has been parked for more than two hours.the dealer stated that the vehicle was designed in that manner and advised her to let it idle for two minutes.the contact took the vehicle to another dealer and they stated that the vehicle needed a vacuum pump assist for the brakes; however, the manufacturer denied the request.as of november 28, 2007, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle. The failure mileage was 5 and current mileage was 1,637. Updated 12/31/07

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky.while driving 4 mph, the contact heard a crunching noise when she depressed the brake pedal.the stopping distance increased.the dealer stated that this was a normal occurrence for this year, make, and model of vehicle.as of november 16, 2007, the dealer had not made any adjustments.the powertrain was unknown.the failure mileage was 20 and current mileage was 2,000.

Brakes do not engage properaly when engine is cool (vacuum assist).

2008 saturn sky [ redline ]brakes are inoperative for minutes after starting the vehicle.seems to be a "normal trend with other saturn sky owners as well.brakes are non functional for minutes after starting.

The brakes required extremely high force to get the vehicle to stop for the 30-60 seconds after start up, if the vehicle has been sitting for approx. 6 hours or more.my understanding is that in 2008 as a cost savings gm chose to remove the vacuum pump.since this vehicle is a turbo it does not develop high enough vacuum and it bleed off quickly after the vehicle sits a while.the vacuum pump is being put back into the 2009 to eliminate this problem.this issue is very dangerous and needs to be addressed immediately.this problem has been going on for almost a year.make gm fix this problem on the 2008 turbos, please.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky.the contact applied the brakes, but the vehicle continued to move forward.there was approximately a 3-4 second delay before the vehicle stopped.the speed was unknown.the current mileage was 800 and failure mileage was 400. Update 04-02-08

Upon starting vehicle and attempting to back out of driveway, brakes are inactive and vehicle continues to roll down driveway.took it into the saturn dealership, explained situation, and i was told it was "normal", and this was something that had to "burn off" in time.

2008 saturn sky brakes fail to work when the engine is cold. Consumer states that the brakes work once the engine is warmed up. Manufacturer stated that all there turbo vehicles do that.

Excessive brake pedal effort on cold start.

First thing in the morning, when car is in reverse, brakes fail about 3 days a week.there is a pulsating in the pedal and the car does not stop right away.when taken to dealer, they could not reproduce the effect and said it must have been humidity.online, there are many complaints about the exact issue.

Vacuum brake design problem on the 2008 saturn sky redline. Brakes are very hard and take alot of effort to stop car at first start up. After car warms up (30-60 seconds) vacuum builds up and brakes are good.

Brakes do not work at start-up on my saturn sky redline.definite safety issue.i almost hit someone backing out of my driveway.must be fixed!!!!dealer says this is normal, but it is not!these brakes are very scary and what if a valet or someone else other than me were to drive this brand new vehicle.

Brakes do not work when car is first started. Recently the same failure occurred when i was leaving the freeway and hit the off ramp (on 03/21/08) near my home, i ended up grabbing the emergency brake to assist in stopping me. That time, however, a svc braking system light came on. It was taken to the dealer who promptly reset the computer and told me it was nothing to worry about. I called saturn and complained. They called the dealer who worked on the brakes. As of this morning, it is still doing it. I have to say, i have great trepidation driving the car at this point and will no longer permit my wife to drive or ride in it. Saturn needs to step up theproverbial bat, come up with a fix, recall all affected units and fix them all before someone dies.

When the car is started (cold start) the brakes do not work at first. If one sits there for 2-3 minutes and lets the vacuum build up - then they work. The manufacturer fails to mention this to the buyers. I have had this occur several times.i must mention that my car is a 5-speed stickshift. Shortly after purchase, i started my car - the emergency brake was on, my foot was on the brake, and as soon as i started to let up on the clutch the car jumped forward & my foot was still on the brake.since then, i always place my car in neutral before starting.then approximately a month ago:i went to move my car out of the garage to the driveway - i started the car, after approximately 45 seconds to 1 minute i put it into reverse, slowly backed out, and when i went to stop i had no brakes - thankfully i had the presence of mind to throw it into neutral and grabbed the emergency brake.just missed goingacross the street to where children were walking to school.then on monday of this week, i started the car, let it idle for over 2 minutes, put into reverse to back out of the garage and had the same thing happened again.i discussed this with my dealer and was told to "just let the car warm up properly".this is worrisome because i cannot let anyone valet park or drive my car for fear that someone could get hurt.it is my understanding that gm did away with an auxiliary vacuum booster on the engine so now it takes time for sufficient vacuum to build up for the braking system to work.and i have discovered that a number of people are having this same problem with the 2008 model year of the saturn sky by perusing the skyroaster.com website.seems to have been a big mistakethis is a disaster waiting-to-happen as not only is there going to be property damage caused but there is going to end up with people being injured or killed.and i do not believe that it should wait for someone to be maimed or injured for this to be looked into.

Brakes do not work at start-up.when i start vehicle and go to drive or reverse, the brakes do not function.i try to press hard on the brakes and it still doesn't stop the vehicle.this has happened many times and there are forums on it on skyroadster.com. At startup in sky 2008 power brakes fail to work, this happens every time car is started after sitting for more than 2 hoursdealer refuses to provide any correction states its by designlarge number of people are having this problemhttp://www.skyroadster.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19220&highlight=power+brakes.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky.while driving 2 mph, the contact stated that she had to depress the brake pedal harder than normal to get the vehicle to stop.as of march 21, 2008, the dealer had not inspected the vehicle.the failure mileage was 100 and current mileage was 420.updated 04/14/08.*ljthe consumer stated the incident happened yet again on april 3, 2008, the dealer stated they are aware of the problem and they expect a recall for this defect. The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky redline.upon starting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the brakes were inoperative.he attempted to utilize the brakes several times while backing out of his driveway.he had to pump the brake pedal over eight times in order for the braking system to engage.on a separate occasion, while driving less than 5 mph, the braking system would not operate and the vehicle rolled away until it stopped on its own.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that a pump was needed, which would assist the braking system with building up pressure in order for the brakes to engage.the failure and current mileages were less than 14,000.updated 3/19/09 updated 03/25/09.

The brakes do not work properly until the car is warmed up. Could not stop when backing up.

Brakes do not work at start-up.when i start vehicle and go to drive or reverse, the brakes do not function.i try to press hard on the brakes and it still doesn't stop the vehicle.this has happened many times and there are forums on it on skyroadster.com. Also, if you do a search on the web and type in -saturn sky brakes you will find sites thesame complaints.many have the same problem.this is a brand new 2008 saturn sky redline.i'm afraid i may hit something or someone.it's very scary not to mention what if i give the car to valet??? or let someone else drive it? this is a safety issue and must be resolved before someone gets hurt.dealer says this is normal for brakes to be this way at start-up.i have never heard of such a thing like this on other cars.please help!!!

When the car is not warmed up for several minutes the brakes do not work.

Upon starting the car the first time of the day, or after extended shutdown, the brake pedal has excessive travel and feels as if the car has no brakes.upon initially attempting to apply the brake when backing out of the garage it feels as if there is a binding or grinding feel along with the excessive brake pedal travel.if i wait for the car to idle for a minute or two this does not happen.

At start-up in my gm 2008 saturn sky, i go to reverse.when i do reverse and apply the brakes, the car does not stop.i have to floor the brakes and it still didn't stop.this happens everytime i initially start the vehicle.

I was traveling at 20 mph about 25 minutes into morning commute when the vehicle in front of me impacted another vehicle.at this time i applied my brakes to the floor along with my clutch.i felt my abs working, but the car did not stop in the approximately 30 feet of space and i impacted the car in front of me.inspection and damage report to follow.i felt the car should have stopped with room to spare given the distance and pressure applied.thank you for your time and consideration.

I purchased a saturn sky redline less than 2 weeks ago.each morning when i start the car after it has sat overnight, and attempt to use the brakes, the pedal goes down to the floor accompanied by a vibrating feeling. This morning i nearly hit a car traveling past my driveway when i had to use much more effort than usual to bring the car to a stop. There seemed to be absolutely no power brakes. After looking online i have now read about other owners who are experiencing the same issue.my dealership did not make me aware of this issue or that i need to follow any special procedure.

The vehicle has very poor brake response after initial cold start.if the vehicle is put in gear without allowing a minute warmup the brakes will not function properly.although the manufacturer and dealer recognize this issue they call this normal.if this vehicle was left in a parking garage or valet situation for extended periods it is my opinion the valet would crash this vehicle not knowing to let it warm up!! this is a much more serious problem than gm saturnis considering it to be.

I am so disappointed in my new 2008 saturn sky. I've had to take it to las vegas 3 times for brake problems. At start up there are no brakes for the first 45 to 60 seconds. The brakes go from rock hard, to crunchy, and then finally working. The dealer is telling us now, that this is normal for this car. We were not warned of the brakes before we bought the car! the 3rd time we took it in for the start up brake problem and for the brakes not working when stepping on the brake while using cruise control! this happened to me going 55 miles per hour down the highway. Was told by the dealer that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle and was given a print out saying that the vehicles brakes are normal for this vehicle! the brakes failed to work again going down the highway at 75 miles per hour! this can not be normal. Anyone else having cruise control brake problems with their 2008 saturn sky?? does someone have to die before they decide it is not normal for the brakes not to work??? on this form i put the incident date as september, which is right after i bought the car. The cruise control issue started in feb 08.

I have a 2008 saturn sky redline with 700 miles.the brakes do not work until the vehicle warms up. I live in a warm climate so outdoor temperature is not a factor.this is a very serious problem that needs to be addressed before someone is hurt or worse!

We took delivery of a 2008 saturn sky rl (turbo) in early august 2007. The very next day we started the car and pulled out into the driveway. When the brakes were used to slow the vehicle their was about a 75% failure with the brake pedal. My wife was briefly panicked and slammed the brakes down further and eventually got the car to stop. By this point she had already traveled an extra 15 feet down the driveway and nearly hit me as i was standing in the driveway watching her back out her new vehicle. We initially thought since the vehicle was new that it might just need a few days to get things working. She drove the car very carefully for a few days and pumped the brakes before each use. After a few days the issue did not go away so we contacted the dealer. We brought the car into the dealer (which is sat for 3 weeks). Eventually we were told by the dealer that this is a problem with the car and is caused because they eliminated the brake vacuum pump from the 08 models. The dealer said they would install the old vacuum pump on our car but it could not be done for another 4 months because they don't have the parts. The concern with this car is we are now familiar with the vehicle and understand to let it run for a few minutes before driving. Out of several new cars over the years i must admit this is the first time i have been told to let the car run for a minute so the brakes will work. However my concern is around someone new driving any 08 sky? i think there is a huge safety concern around a peson in valet. I have seen numerous complaints regarding this same issue on the skyroadster forums and feel it is a matter of time before there is an accident or some is seriously injured by being backed over.

My wife and i bought a 2008 saturn sky redline 2.0 turbo charged 3 weeks ago and on apr 17,2008 she was backing out of her parking spot at work and stepped on the brakes and the car kept moving narrowly missing a parked car behind her.she had to really stomp on the brakes and it slowed slightly and finally stopped inchs short of the parked car.i have read that gm seems not to have the fix for this.they say warm the car before moving.there was no mention of this issue at time of purchase.my question is does someone have to die before this gets taken care of.

Since purchasing the 2008 saturn sky in september 2007 the brakes do not work when first starting the vehicle. The car must warm up before the brakes work properly. The car was brought back to the dealer several times and i was advised that nothing was wrong with the vehicle. Recently the brakes failed when i had the cruise control on at 65 mph. The cruise did not shut off, the brakes did not even slow the vehicle. Every time the car has gone back to the dealer they tell me that there is no problem. Last week they advised that they had to re-calibrate the brakes- this did not work, i still have the problem when i first start the car, i have not used the cruise control since.

Brakes don't work on start up.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky redline.whenever the vehicle has been parked for more than 5 or 6 hours, there is poor power brake assist functionality.when the brake pedal is depressed, the pedal is extremely hard and causes the contact to apply more pressure to get the vehicle to stop.the failure was noticed while driving 5 mph.after a few minutes of the vehicle running, the brakes return to normal.he took the vehicle to the dealer and they reprogrammed the brake control module according to a gm service bulletin; however, that did not correct the failure.he took the vehicle to the dealer for a second time, but they were unable to determine the cause of the failure.the dealer has not responded or called back.the failure mileage was 50 and current mileage was 900. 2008 saturn sky (turbo redline 2.0) - the brakes are not 100% during cold startup - especially in reverse when the engine has just been started.it seems to help if you rev. The engine slightly, almost like you need to build some vacuum pressure because the idle was too low to achieve it.definitely not safe!

Our saturn 2008 sky redline has a brake problem that my wife was complaining about every time she starts it up after it has had time to cool down.the brakes do not work properly.i tried it and found that the car can move while holding down on the brake.if you don't pump it it will not stop.i took it to the dealer today and was given a notification from the dealer service writer stating this was normal.they did take the car to check it out after i insisted.i don't care what they think is normal if i can't stop the car there is a problem.i then checked on line to see if any other sky owners were having the same type ofproblems.and i guess you know what is going on.this is to go on record with you that the car is not safe as is. I am concerned that this may lead to a problem during operation at speed and kill us.this needs to be dealt with now and and nat after someone dies.our car has gotten worse over the last month since the temperature has gone down.or it is just getting worse.

Power brakes do not work on startup when car is put in reverse. Happened a number of times. Returned car to dealership where purchased and they said they reprogrammed the car computer for this problem. Did not fix the problem. Returned to dealer and said problem is not fixed. Salesman at dealership said the work around is to pump the brakes after startup and before putting in gear. If i do this (pump brakes a number of times after startup) then the problem has not returned.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky.the contact stated that the vehicle requires excessive brake pedal effort in order to stop.the failure occurs after a cold start and typically at relatively low speeds.after the vehicle is warmed up, the failure ceases.the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure.the contact is in the process of filing a complaint with the manufacturer.the failure and current mileages were 1,191.

Upon starting the vehicle from a down period as short as 6 hours, the brakes are extremely ineffective and barely able to stop my vehicle when backing from a parking space.after the vehicle has run for a couple minutes the brakes appear to function like any other car.my previous mechanical experience and the research i've been able to do on the web suggest that the vacuum booster is failing to assist the brake system at initial startup.i have contacted the local saturn dealer and saturn corporate via their website without satisfactory response.this failure occurs reliably every morning, i've had two near misses almost backing into traffic when i could not stop the vehicle at an idle.

No brakes upon startup! ran over my dog because of the problem. I can't believe this defect made it to market.

Brakes fail to work on start-up. For the first 60 seconds it takes excessive pressure to bring the car to a stop. I have had numerous close calls and one small accident where i could not stop for a bicycle in my drive way. Just a matter of time before someone gets serious injured. Saturn claims it is normal for the car brakes not to work properly for the first minute.

1.loss of power brakes when the motor is warming up2.limited brakes having trouble stopping all most wet through my garage wall3.the saturn dealer tried to reprogram the brakes two different times but this did not fix the problem.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky.the contact stated that the brake booster vacuum does not work.the manufacturer informed him that he must wait sixty seconds for the brakes to work.the contact stated that the manufacturer does not want to repair the vehicle.he does not understand why he must wait sixty seconds to drive a new model vehicle.the current mileage was 15,000 and failure mileage was 14,000.

Manufacturer:gmmodel: saturn sky redline 2008brakes become ineffective after car sits idle for an extended period of time over 7 hours. Essentially occurs every day when the car initially starts after sitting idle for a period of time. It isa safety hazard everytime you start your car and attempt to drive off straight away as the brake pedal becomes very difficult to use and the stopping response time is significantly increased. I almost crashed into another car driving past my driveway and as i was reversing out a parking lot. Just imagine if that was a small child that ran out and you could not stop in time! i took it the dealer, he left it overnight and experienced the same problem yesterday. I know he was surprised but all he did was print out the saturn service bulletin that states it is normal which instructs the dealer not to do anything. The actual bulletin wording highlighted in red states "important: do not attempt to repair or replace any parts for what is considered normal operation of the ohb". Since when is a change in brake effectiveness like this considered normal? this is being experience by numerouscustomers (see url http://www.skyroadster.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18188) only have a hard copy of the saturn bulletin and could not find it on-line. It had a document id#: 1982132 with a subject title of "information on optimized hydraulic boost brake system characteristics #07-05-22-002 - (06/04/2007)

After a cold start up and backing up the car, the brakes do not stop the car. The brake pedal feels hard when this occurs.

We own a 2008 saturn sky red line model. If the vehicle is placed in gear when first starting up the brakes don't work. Supposedly the saturn engineers designed the vehicle with this "safety" (as saturn calls it) feature. If you folks will go onto the saturn forum and put brake problem into their search engine there are many complaints about this problem.

I own a saturn sky redline 2008.. The brakes become ineffective after the car sits idle for an extended period of time overnight.this occurs every day when the car initially starts after sitting idle for a period of time.it is a safety hazard every time you start your car and attempt to drive off or back out of my driveway .the brake pedal becomes very difficult to use and the stopping response time is significantly increased.i have to be very careful that cars driving past my home are no where in site before i attempt to back out of my driveway or when i leave my place of employment no car is parked behind or in front of me.i took my car to the saturn dealership and reported the failure and the service technician printed out a service bulletin that states it is normal which instructs the dealer not to do anything.the actual wording highlights indicate"important: do not attempt to repair or replace any parts for what is considered normal operation of the ohb...document id#1982132.i called saturn headquarters on september 27, 2007 and talked to customer service and they stated that they could not do anything about the failure and it should be expected with this vehicle...the woman handling the call would not give me any information on others experiencing this same problem.i also e-mailed saturn with my concern and will talk to a representative on monday, october 1.i feel it is a safety hazard and their response is unacceptable and that there should be a repair for the brake system.what if there is an accident and/or death..who will be responsible.

My 2008 saturn sky has a brake problem when the engine is first cranked after sitting for a few hours, there are no brakes until the car warms up.

I have a 2008 saturn sky turbo the brakes do not work correctly when the vehicle is cold, i was told it was a vacuum problem and there was no fix. This is very unsafe and could result in a serious accident.

Brakes do not work fully upon startup of vehicle.hit tree causing damage to the side of my car because the car did not stop when brakes applied.

Brakes do not function when the vehicle is first started up. Car must "warm" up for pressure to build in the brake line.not informed at dealer.received car from lot (driven to showroom area) so thus "warmed up" when test drive taken.brought home.next morning started car and backed out.only to find no brakes...very dangerous and scary.

2008 saturn sky redline convertible-brake problemwhen the car has been sitting for a couple of hours without use, the brakes fail to work after initially starting the vehicle. According to the manufacturer, this is "normal" and cannot be fixed. It takes a good 2-3 minutes for the brakes to work after the car starts.

The contact owns a 2008 saturn sky. The contact stated that the door handle fractured from the vehicle. The failure previously occurred on the passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to louisville hawkeye chevrolet where it was diagnosed that the door handle needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and started an investigation. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.

Temperature on ac will go to full hot when the temperature control is turned one click off of cold. I understand that there is an update pic (pic4995a) related to this problem. Does this mean a recall has been issued or that this part would be relpaced free of charge?

I brought my saturn sky that was manufactured by gm to my local chevrolet dealer. They told me that the module is not on recall although many other models that gm makes did and does have a recall for the same product. I will no longer let anyone ride in the passenger seat. I would hope that someone would force gm to do what they have done for all their other makes and models. If someone gets hurt or possibly killed i will have to be forced to sue someone. They say the process costs $900 and i think if anything they should pay for at least the parts. How can they recall other models and not this model?

During a low voltage condition the programming for the tpms and security features was lost.2nd time it happened.dealer says it is a design problem that requires software update.i paid once for the update but the problem persists.

Takata recall--i have gotten 2 notices--no known fix according to gm.ignition recall--took in for repair--didn't repair properly--i had to spend my own money replacing ignition switch because they said i didn't bring back earlier.

I am so disappointed in my new 2008 saturn sky. I've had to take it to las vegas 3 times for brake problems. At start up there are no brakes for the first 45 to 60 seconds. I was trying to turn the ac on because it is 102 degrees outside. When i was turning the knob on the climate control module to cold it never changed it stayed blowing hot. Also when i tried to get the fan to blow towards me it was stuck in the mode where it blows on the floor. While it is stuck in the mid and wont changed its steady blowing out hot air even when the module for the fan is turned off. This is crazy that most of the saturn vue i read have the same problem and something is always missing. There needs to be a serious recall on this vehicle since these were the last ones made.

This is a continuation of the description of the "tpms system inoperative" for the same vin.when the vehicle battery is replaced as part of normal maintenance the tpms system fails to work.this problem has been acknowledged by general motors in bulletin 08-03-16-001b.furthermore, the tpms system failure is not indicated to the driver through any warning indicator.the driver would be unaware of a tire with low pressure in this situation, potentially resulting in harm.

The 2008 saturn sky has a safety defect whereby the tpms (tire pressure monitoring system) becomes inoperative during general maintenance.the tire pressure display will not display any tire pressure data while the vehicle is stationary or moving. When the vehicle battery is replaced the rcdlr (remote control door lock lock receiver module) loses its keyless entry transmitter and tire pressure monitoring data. The rcdlr will no longer receive data from the tire pressure sensors in each tire rendering the system inoperative. Since vehicle battery replacement is a normal maintenance item i do not believe this safety system (tpms) should become inoperative when performing that maintenance task.general motors is aware of the condition and has authored bulletin #08-03-16-001b to correct the issue at owner expense.i believe the failure of this safety system should be covered by a recall.
