7/14/2000 i wanted to check the oil, coolant etc... Before we left on our vacation is when i noticed a large amount of oil mixed in with the coolant, the color of light brown, i called crown motors, told them. Towed it in to redding from burney. They had it until 7/28/00 never telling us they didnt have a qualified mechanic. Yet they gave us a list of replaced parts and coolant and labor stating it was repaired. Two hours down the road and the "service engine soon" light came on as it had been and the car began to shift funny then the temperature gauge started to sore.we pulled over and called crown motors but they were closed.this has repeated it self 3 or more times and the car still has the same problem. It totally shut down while i was on the freeway, luckily my 10month old son was not in the car, and no one was behind me to coast to the side of the road.i found out later they forgot to put the head gasket back on and cover also. The oil was so thick in the coolant it looked like a lava lamp.they said we would have to pay $100 again to flush it since they already did that the first time. Mark said that not to worry the engine will flush itself clean of oil in the meantime the light will go on and off till it is cleaned itself of oil. I asked if this would damage the engine, he said no it will just run hotter. There isnt a dealer close within 160 miles from us to repair the car since duane glover service manager at crown motors wont help me. He said his contract states he doesnt have to, even though we bought it under limited warranty and the same day the extended warranty. I could go on the sun roof leaks and the driverside window leaks, the car shakes now when you shift and basically the car is always parked because it overheats so fast, and the "service engine soon" light stays on.

Problems with vehicle's engine quitting. *mr the oil pressure light had come on along with the battery light and the engine shut off.after several tries, the engine stayed on and drove fine.the mechanic could not find the problem. *sc

Engine fails to start.

I don't own a saturn, but i wanted to report a problem with saturn's daytime running lights (dtrls).their size and positioning pose a safety hazard.expecially early in the evening and when visibility is limited, they are very easily mistaken as regular lights of a very distant car.twice i almost got into an accident, trying to pass some other car, and misjudged the distance to an oncoming saturn who was driving in the twilight and dark, respectively, with only their dtrls.the small, bright, white lights looked *identical* to the headlights of a distant car.only an extremely hard breaking on my as well as the other car's parts prevented a frontal crash at rather high speed (about 50 mph each car).i suggest that you require that dtrls are colored yellow rather than white, and/or repositioned to the outer edges of the car, to allow for better evaluation of distances.the additional cost should be close to zero, but it would prevent virtually any confusion (especially when some of the saturn drivers forget to turn on their headlights because they see sufficiently well with their dtrls). Please, please, please, do something.i think it will save lives. Check the stats, find out if there are disproportionately many frontal crashes during passing maneuvers involving saturns.i would appreciate some feedback on what you decide to do (both preliminary and long-term), and why.thanks a lot.jan ostermann.

The contact owns a 1996 saturn sc2(na). The contact was driving 55 mph when the vehicle was hit from behind at a slight angle. The contact stated that the rear of the driver seat snapped and the seatbelt failed causing the contact to fly forward and into the steering wheel. An inspector stated that it was impossible for the seat to move forward because it was designed to break backwards. A mechanic at a repair shop stated that the seat had moved forward. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 169,000.

Seat belts occasionally lock up.

Drivers seat adjustment mechanism failed.

Brake rotors: brakes pulsating and grabbing. At 6000 miles had to have new rotorsand again at 18000 miles. Dealer said the brakes were not covered under warranty. Consumer feels rotors should not wear this quickly and considers this a safety problem.

The factory installed sun roof leaks. At first it just was minor, now the rain pours in. It has drenched my car's carpet and interior to where we can no longer get the musty smell out. Also, we can no longer drive it when there is a chance of rain because of the severity of the leak.
