Abs warning light appears intermittently even after brakes were replaced. Seems to be electrical issue as opening the door doesn't always turn on light or turn off radio. Drained battery. Now i have to pull fuse. Steering wheel radio controls have never worked properly often performing opposite functions.

The vehicle restarted briefly but stalled immediately after.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the ignition switch was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. I have a problem with the abs/traction control light coming on and the braking system will not opererate properly. There has been a few times where the brakes will not stop the vehicle properly or have locked up a couple of times. We also had to replace the egr valve do to a code 0414/0414. We also had to replace the pcm because the system locked up and deleted all the codes causing the engine to fail to start while tring to update the pcm to recognize the new egr. I also have proplems with the lights flickering and dimming all the time. These problems exist every day and i feel the vehicle is getting unsafe to drive. I have contacted gm several times and took the vehicle to a local dealership to get the pcm replaced. They would not give me the old pcm but i have the original delphi egr valve. Gm said ththat the 2005 relay has recalls on the egr and pcm but my vin was not affected and refused to pay any on the repairs or pay to have the van checked out at a gm dealership.

I bought a used 2005 saturn relay 3 in january 2010.i have 2 major issues going on: power sliding doors will not recognize that they are closed and will continue to ding as if i was driving with them open...on a few occasions i have heard the power door motor start on its own as if it was trying to open the doors while i am driving!second issue is abs/traction control lights have been coming on sporadically since i purchased it.of course, no one can find the problem because they can't replicate it.it doesn't matter the driving conditions, driving time, weather or anything else.both have happened at various speeds.currently the lights are staying on more than off and yesterday while driving, the warning lights were off until i stepped on the brakes, felt and heard a clunking sound, the brake petal gave way some, and the service abs/no traction control lights came back on again.the car did stop.talked to the used car dealership that sold it to me and i am currently making arrangements to have vehicle looked at.in researching i have found numerous complaints about these same issues on a number of forums.
We purchased a saturn relay from saturn of charleston huntington ,sept 05 , we were told it had a previous owner but they had brought it back because they didn't like the color , at saturn you have 30 days or 1500 miles to do this . It had 665 miles on it . Almost like brand new right? well the first week i had it had to go back in to have a part serviced in the dvd player .now i have had it 4 weeks and have had nothing but electronic trouble and saturn says there is nothing wrong with it and i know there is , the speedometer goes up and down when i am doing about 20 mph , and now the headlights and the dashboard are blinking from light to brighter as i drive at night time , they say they can only fix this problem if they can duplicate it . B ut since their service department closes before dark how can they do this , they had it one time for 3 days and said they couldn't fix it . What am i suppose to do i have 3 kids and i am afraid to drive this van for fear of it catching fire, thanks.
Exact same issue as described in april 2014 gm recall 14063. Sudden loss of electrical power while driving causing the engine to shut off. Unpredictable very dangerous. Seems to be the ignition switch. Other saturns are listed in the 2014 recall but mine is not. It should be listed.
Lights on dash and exterior dim and fade erratically.radio decides to mute itself if car is unlocked and tail gate is opened first.they don't know the mileage for oil changes. Has a hesitation from rolling start that makes the wheels break free as if a turbo.saturn dealer can not "see" any of this even when shown.also they say i must contact saturn to find out how to fix.saturn is not returning my calls.
The first time i was parked and the van would not start. I was told it might be the fuel pump. I had the van tow to a service center. They said it was the fuel relay. I paid to have the fuel relay replaced. A few days later same thing happened again. The van would not start. This time we thought it was the battery or spark plugs. I paid to have a new battery, new spark plugs, spark plug cables. A few days later i was leaving from work and the van would not start again. I had it tow and they said it might be the fuel pump. They were going to replaced the fuel pump but then noticed the wires located on the passenger side of the van. The mechanic wiggled the wires and the van started. A few weeks later i was driving down the road doing about 50 and the van just lost power. It was as if it ran out of gas. I was able to safely pull over and had the van towed again.after this several times, while driving the van will act as if it ran out of gas. I have been very lucky i have not been in an accident...yet. I have to get out of the van, go to the passenger side and wiggle the wires located under the glove compartment of the van.
Dt: the contact states there was an ongoing problem with exterior and interior lighting.while driving, the headlights and the dashboard panel lights flickered from bright to dim.also, the idle was very loud and rough.she took the vehicle to the dealer.the dealer replaced the alternator.this did not correct the problem.the dealer was unable to accurately diagnose the problem, and no further repairs were made.updated 12/27/2005.the horn springs were deform which resulted in the horn being inoperative.the sliding door would chime as if the door was not closed.the tech adjusted the top middle and bottom latches.the brakes pulsated when braking.the technician had to resurface both front rotors.
There is a definite problem with either the engine or the electrical system onthe 2005 saturn relay. We have been to dealershipsand complained about these problems, but they have brushed us off by saying that it could be the weather, and they did not see any problem.the car actually goes down in rpms and the whole dashboard and lights dim whenin idle.also, the idle is very rough.this should be looked at since after doing some research on someweb sites there are many people with the same exact problem with this vehicle and they are also been given many different answers.p please investigate this since we have a one year old and i do not want anything to happen to her while we are using this minivan.thank you.
12/19/2011 wife was driving car on 4 lane highway when brakes engaged for no reason.foot was not even on the pedal.van lurched, tires squealed, drastically reduced speed down to 20 mph, and car pulled to the right.she pulled off onto shoulder of road.t/c light came on.van drove normally after that until 1/5/12 when it happened again.this time it happened at a lower speed, while slowing to turn left through an intersection.made car skid and she almost missed the turn.it happened again on 1/6/11 while turning into a parking lot.same symptoms, this time car pulled to left.i inspected vehicle to find that right rear brake caliper was leaking brake fluid.thought that would solve problem, however, it was an unrelated issue.happened 5 times on 1/10/11, once again on 1/11/11 at 60 mph, and on 1/12/11 at a lower speed.diagnosis by a gm certified mechanic determined the problem to be the ebcm.currently the fuse has been removed from the abs and abs pump to prevent this very dangerous condition from happening again.switch in car to deactivate traction control was not stopping it from malfunctioning.my wife and kids use this car, and i was very worried about their safety, and i had to consult 3-4 different mechanics to brainstorm and figure out what was causing this problem.
When i drive at night i have to turn my headlights off to use my turn signals. I have noticed that the turn signal on the driver's side of the 2005 saturn relay will not work unless the headlights are turned off. I have not had any accidents...yet. This is a real safety issue.
Saturn relay 2005:after turning the car on, no sound comes from the radio, or cd. The no sound disables the on-star function and rear parking sensor.thus i can not call on star or hear the chimes from the rear parking sensor.this issue is not a repeatable event.i have not found a way to duplicate the event.i have determined that if i shut off the car and open the door and wait at least one minute, the sound will reset and work fine.every 3 months when i take the car back for oil change i identify the problem, but since it can not be duplicated the dealer will not investigate or attempt to repair.the concern is the non-functioning of on-star and rear parking sensors.this are safety features that can not be used if required in an emergency and the sound is not working.
2005 saturn relay has numerous design flaws, and saturn is unable to fix. Onstar disables speedometer when used, radio mutes and car must be turned off and back on to reset, abs system malfunctions repeatedly even after replacing ebcm, abs pump, bcm, lights flicker both interior and exterior, alternator found to have erratic output, new alternator did not solve problem.brake rotors warped within 25k miles. Saturn will only keeping trying to repair, but is unable to solve problems.
On 1/12/15, while my 2005 saturn relay was parked in my garage, started on fire.vehicle was not started or going at the time.last drove the vehicle approximately one hour prior.it was determined that the ceiling component that has the buttons to open the back sliding doors, onstar and garage opening, is what started the electrical fire, which burned a whole in my roof, burned the drivers side visor, which in turn burned the driver side seat and car seat behind the driver's door.gm determined it was not there problem because the vehicle was 10 years old and no other cases were on file.a very very very scary situation.
After having my brakes replaced, the abs light continues to come on. The light will go off for awhile, but every time i apply the brakes it will come back on for days. I am also having issues with my brake lights, turn signals, and headlights. They keep going in and out. Sometimes the passenger side door will not open or close correctly, i check to make sure nothing is in the way but still have the problem.
1. Chiming sound all the time as if the sliding doors are open.door opened on its own willing driving.they replaced the motors.2.same problem as above.replaced the sensors3.having the same problem again.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn relay. While operating the vehicle, the speed sensor and traction control sensor lights illuminated and the braking distance increased when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the electronic body control module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Also, the sliding door chime activated even though both sliding doors were closed. Also, the steering wheel suddenly became very difficult to turn. The cause of the failures were not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was invalid. The failure mileage was 90,000. Updated 09/08/16*lj
Headlights, dash lights and interior lights go dim/bright/dim/bright etc. At night when acceleration with foot or with use of cruse control. Notified saturn and also dealer. They both said this is a characteristic of the relay. Dealer also said they had the same proiblem with the l series. Saturn nor dealer have attempted to talk directly to me or fix it despite e-mails, letters, phone calls. I worry that an 18 wheeler might think i am flashing him that it is ok to pull over to the right. This is a dangerous situation and the new 05 saturn relay should not have been releasedfor sale to the public if they had the same problem last year with the l series. Check "mycarstats.com" for same complaints on the l series.

Driving around 10 mph, car died.took it to the shop and they said it was the ignition switch.looked on gm website and there is a recall for this same problem, however not for the relay.i believe there should be a recall for all saturns! i am very lucky i was not driving on the freeway when this incident occurred.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn relay. The contact stated that the engine stalled and the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was shut off and once restarted, resumed normally for a half a mile before the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the ignition switch was replaced but to no avail. The failure was recurring.the vehicle was then taken to an authorized dealer where the connector harness to the fuel pump was rewired and replaced. The contact indicated that the failure recurred after the second repair. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 91,652.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn relay. While driving 30 mph, the steering failed and an unknown warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle also veered to the left and right. The vehicle was turned off and restarted. The failure occurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who stated that the steering wheel knuckle and ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure.the failure mileage was 112,000.

On sunday, november 9, 2008i was backing up in my driveway when the traction control engaged briefly, stopped and the service light for both the tc and the abs remained on.i have not been able to get rid of the service lights.on monday i brought the van into the local garage.in june 2008, i had the same problem but the service lights turned off.the same garage put in new ball bearings including the one that has the sensor in it for the tc and abs.i have read the ebcm module or the sensor on the ball bearing could be the problem.
While driving on freeway, saturn relay 2005 slowed down and lost power intermittently. Dash warning lights flashed on and off (abs/stability/traction) - warning lights. The vehicle had no power on and off. When i applied the gas, the vehicle bogged down and continued to slow. Then all of a sudden, the vehicle accelerated when i depressed the gas pedal. I could not move over to the berm due to heavy traffic so i attempted to exit at an upcoming exit ramp. When i applied the brakes nothing happened the first few times. Then the brakes worked so i was able to slow down eventually. The brakes were pulsating when i would depress the brake pedal and intermittently, nothing would happen.

Every time we fill up with fuel, the gas gauge shows empty, and the display tells us we have low fuel.after awhile the gauge will go to full, then become erratic and show us different fuel levels.it takes quite a while for the gauge to give an actual reading. I recommend that this vehicle be put on the recall list for the fuel sensor problem that other gm vehicles have had.
Purchased 2005 saturn relay to get better gas mileage than previously owned yukon @ 11 mpg, after in depth discussion with lafayette la. Saturn dealership salesman about the reason for new car purchase.asked if the sticker info of 18 mpg (with a stated range of 15-21) city was reliable.i was adamantly assured that it was. After first 22 gallons used, yielded app. 12.6 mpg- this vehicle had app. 2600 miles at time of purchase.i asked for another relay after app. 2 wks and first tank of gas, (20 gallons) yielded 11.9 mpg.saturn tested the vehicle by driving 20 miles in traffic and filled tank again x 2 and got app 16-17 mpg.i stated that this testing did not replicate using almost an entire tank of gas.they recorded my gas mileage after the next fill up, i drove a few days in the city going app 163 miles and used 13.798 gallons, yielding 11.8 mpg.the local dealership recommended i take the problem to the saturn corporation customer service.saturn customer service assured me that the documentation of my complaint would be passed on the appropriate parties but there was nothing that could be done for me.
Dt*: the contact stated when the vehicle was facing down hill moving or parked, with 1/4 of a tank of gas or less, the fuel gauge indicator needle would move toward empty and fuel would not flow to the engine causing a problem starting the vehicle.also, this caused the vehicle to stall while the vehicle moved down hill.the sales/service dealer and manufacturer were notified, and the contact was informed by both the service dealer and the manufacturer, that the design of the vehicle required at least a half full tank of fuel to prevent engine failure.updated 1/19/2007 -
With a 1/4 of a tank of gas my saturn relay 2005 shut off on a decline causing the loss of power brakes and steering. The manufacture said the vehicle is operating as designed!

Fuel read a little less than 1/4 of a tank.driving 40 mph down the street, engine stopped. Would not start. Towed home. Put gas in it and it started.happened again on dec 20. Driving 70mph on the interstate. Fuel gauge at 1/4 tank.engine stopped.put 2 gallons of gas in and it started.fuel sensor was replaced in spring of 2010 by an authorized gm dealer[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2005 saturn relay. While driving at variousspeeds, the vehicle passenger side doors opened without warning. The driver had to stop the vehicle to close the doors; however, they would not close completely and continued to pen while driving. The dealer inspected the vehicle and was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer advised the contact to have the vehicle reinspected by a saturn dealer. The manufacturer also stated that since the mileage was high they would not compensate them for any repairs. The is aware of the safety risk since her children could possibly be ejected from the vehicle. The failure mileage was 55,000 and the current mileage was 70,000.
Power door on 2005 saturn relay is not shutting completely and it has also started to open while driving.it has not opened completely while driving, but it separates enough that the locking system on the car starts to lock and unlock all the doors repeatedly.the interior manual handle to control the door no longer works, but it does work by using the interior button.the exterior handle does not work 100% of the time and sometimes the door does not fully open and has to be manually pushed open the rest of the way, or shut and then reopened so that the motor will reengage.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn relay.the contact stated that the passenger side electric door does not latch properly.as a result, the door opens while the vehicle is moving.he took the vehicle to the dealer and they re-adjusted the door striker.immediately after the repair, the failure recurred.secondly, he noticed excessive vibration when depressing the brake pedal.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they machined his braking system.after the repair, the failure recurred.the contact took the vehicle to another dealer and they replaced the brake rotors and pads.the contact called the manufacturer and they referred him back to the dealer.as of august 7, 2008, the dealer has not successfully remedied the failure.the failure mileage was 23,000 and current mileage was 48,900.
Passenger sliding door chimed and reopened without being obstructed.relay was originally purchased in 2005 and problems with doors began within one year.initially repair was denied as dealer "could not duplicate problem."the sensors have been serviced 3 times by dealer, and motors were replaced once while vehicle was under warranty.this problem is concerning as manufacturer and dealers are aware of issue, and reports on saturn forum and edmunds.com have numerous owners experiencing failure of doors.doors have opened while car is in gear, but stopped.concerned that doors will open while car is moving and children will be ejected or injured by debris entering vehicle.

Dt*: the contact stated, while driving at 30 mph., the right sliding door opened without warning. In a two-week period, the sliding door opened twicewithout incident. The door was serviced at the dealer, but still does not completely latch.updated 09/15/06.
Dt*: the contact stated while driving 65 mph on normal road conditions, a noise was heard from one of the tires.the right front tire blew out and the tire failure was on the outer wall.the same incident occurred several days after with the left front tire.the dealership replaced all four tires.also, the brakes made a loud noise while driving 5 mph, and the abs light illuminated intermittently.the dealership corrected the problem but the brake noise continued and on one occasion the wheels locked up.recently, one of the rear tires blew out, but the dealership did not find any abnormality for this repetitive problem.the vehicle was taken to the dealership twelve times in a one and a half year period.the manufacturer was contacted, and advised to take the vehicle to the dealership for a diagnosis.the contact was very concerned because on top of the mechanical defects, other body defects like doors opening by itself while driving constituted a severe risk to safety.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn relay.the contact stated that the rear passenger side door will not open when she pulls the handle.the locking mechanism is not releasing.she stated that the door has previously been repaired two times for motor failure.the failure began intermittently two weeks after the vehicle was purchased, but is now occurring more frequently.she has taken the vehicle to the dealer on three occasions and they found no failure with the door.the contact made three recordings of the door not opening.the current mileage was 47,000 and failure mileage was 3,854.

We purchased our 2005 saturn relay 2 in nov. 2007 with 24,000 miles.at around 34,000 miles our service abs system light started coming on.i took it in to the saturn dealership and they replaced the sensor in the wheel.i picked it up and within 5 minutes into my drive home the service abs system light appeared again.i called the dealership and scheduled another appointment.this time they said the ebd sensor was dirty and cleaned it.after that thelight would intermittently come on.i was reluctant to take it to the dealer since my warranty had expired a couple thousand miles after the dealership had tried to fix it.the light coming on has been more and more frequent and on may 19, 2010 with approx. 55,000 miles the abs light came on accompanied by a chime and shortly after the brake light.the brakes began pulsating and the steering wheel shook while coming to an abrupt stop.i will be taking it in sometime soon to the dealer for them to take a look at the issue.
My wife placed our 2005 saturn relay minivan in park, and stepped out to get the mail.the van immediately started backwards, with the door pushing her down.luckily, as it pushed her down, she fell to the inside, and was able to activate the parking brake with her hand, stopping the car.she did receive a very minor knee injury, but it could have been much worse.our two daughters were both in the car, which would have rolled down a hill and into a neighbors house, had she not stopped it.my first thought was that she'd made a mistake, but after looking at the shifting mechanism, i can see how this happened.as you know, on a steering mounted shifter (like this) you pull the lever toward you, move it to the appropriate gear, and release it, locking the mechanism in the newly selected gear.on this vehicle, there is a large dead space (for lack of a better word) between reverse and park.it's possible to release the lever before the selector is fully in the park detent.when you do this, there is no outward indication of a problem, other than an unusual feel to the lever that's easy to miss if you're in a hurry.once you do this, the lever (after a few seconds) will either pop into park, or into reverse.obviously, if you're no longer in the drivers seat, this is going to be a problem.i've checked this on other saturn relays and on one chevrolet (same model, different name) and they all did this.all of the ones i checked were 2005, so i do not know about any other year models.wenow always set the parking brake when stopping, just in case. This is more a design defect than a component failure, from what i can see.
Purchased s 2005 saturn relay in april 06.since day one things have been wrong, brake rotors warped, axel broken, interior parts needing replacement and now it is in the shop for weeks for transmission problems.i have a file open with saturn and they are not helpful. I have 6 kids 5 of which drive in the car quite a bit and i feel the car is unsafe.the dealer admitted to not knowing what to do with the vehicles transmission.i have no idea what's being done to my vehicle they said they will notify me when they make progress.
Dt*:the contact stated the vehicle rolled slightly backward on an incline while moving foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal.one dealer determined this was normal and another determined a recent design change was the cause. Updated 5/2/2006 -
Right door popped open when it wanted too. Air conditioner (a/c )didnot properly cool, severe vibration in front drivetrain. 09/01/05 cleaned contacts, 10/8/05 motor and clutch assembly for door, 02/27/06 door contacts and cable,04/19/06 returned to dealer,07/18/06 replaced contacts, 0 and on 8/16/06 returned to dealer.doors were inoperative. This was what they gave us for copies of our records they now have our records frozen so we could notview the history, doorswereinoperativat this time.
There are no latch anchors in the 3rd row of any vehicle your company offers. As a parent of multiples and an additional child getting them in the vehicle safely is a huge priority for me. Even though the seatbelts are supposed to lock and keep the seat stable, that means nothing when you can not fit the number of carseats needed in the vehicle properly due to having to use seatbelts in place of the latch. There is also only 1 anchor in the 3rd row for a child seat, shouldn't there be one for each seat?
The contact owns a 2005 saturn relay. The contact stated that while reversing from a driveway, the brakes failed with the illumination of the abs warning lights. As a result, the contact crashed into a mailbox from the driver's side.the contact did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was advised that the driver's side wheel hub needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the brake failure persisted.the manufacturer was not notified. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn relay. While driving approximately 40 mph, the abs warning light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the abs hub sensor was replaced. In addition, the brakes pulsated when the brake pedal was depressed. The failure recurred after the repair was performed and the computerized system was updated. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 184,000.
Abs system acting up , occurring off and on service brakes hydraulic problem . Happens everyday since i've owned it. Also previous owner had same problem.
Abs warning light appears intermittently even after brakes were replaced. Seems to be electrical issue as opening the door doesn't always turn on light or turn off radio. Drained battery. Now i have to pull fuse. Steering wheel radio controls have never worked properly often performing opposite functions.
The anti-lock brake system warning light and traction controlsystem (tcs) warning light continue to light up and stays on i have seen similar complaints on various chat sessions.
Repeated problems with abs & t/c warning lights, brakes seized up was unable to move van had it towed to a shop, t/c engages without any adverse weather or road conditions.i have spent over $2000 trying to repair the problems.brake pads wear down quickly, replace brake pads twice a year since having the vehicle.
2005 saturn relay 3:replaced abs sensor in wheel hubs 5 times because of awd being disabled due to abs light coming on.code indicated bad sensor when the problem was really the ebcm.i have seen numerous complaints from other saturn relay owners of the same problem.i don't understand why a recall has not been issued.
Abs system light comes on.we bought the 2005 saturn relay used from a saturn dealer.day after we got it, the abs and brake lights came on.dealer corrected it.one year later, brakes are all good but service abs system light comes on.turn the van off and back on, it disappears.then next time it is on. This has been reported in many forums.why is this safety issue not being elevated to recall status.
I have a saturn relay with brake problems.the abs does not work properly.very scary stuff.the abs will come on with dry conditions but will not come on when we actually need them, like in the snow.saturn does not know what the issue is.keep taking my van back and nobody seems to know how to fix it.i guess there waiting for me and my children to actually get into a serious accident before anyone will do something about it.
2005 relay. The abs lights will come on randomly. Turning off the car and back on fixes it for a while, but recently the lights is almost steady and we are not able to reset it.
I have a saturn relay 2005 abs lights stays on,all wheel drive disable warning light stays on, replaced hub and wheelbearing three times still have abs lights come on. Nobody seem to know how fix this problem, this is a safety issue. Don't trust having my kids in the car. I looked up on the computer a lot of similar complaints with the same issue with the saturn relay, there needs to be a recall before there are serious accidents and lawsuits.
When the abs and traction control sensor lights came on , it felt like the car wasn't slowing down much, at 35 mph. It was scary. I know of other people that had this same problem, there should be a recall on this. I was told is the ebcm module.
Service abs system lights coming on randomly.
Abs light appears sporadically.
I bought my 2005 relay brand new from the saturn dealer. About 1 year later the abs light went on and i had it serviced under warranty. 1 month later abs light again. The hub was replaced and this fixed the problem for several months. Abs light again. This time the dealer replaced the sensor. One month later replaced the sensor again. I started having some shaking when braking then the abs light appeared again. I took the car to a private mechanic instead of the dealer thinking that maybe the dealer mechanics were short-cutting on repairs. The private mechanic was not able to remedy the problem. The abs light still comes on all the time. The 2005 saturn relay needs a recall!
The traction control system engagedwhile driving at freeway speed on state highway 153 in chattanooga, tn, causing the vehicle to veer right out of the lane.the system immediately shut off and a "service traction control system/abs system/stability system" warning appeared in the dash readout.after turning off the vehicle, the warning went away.then a week later the same thing happened on a city street at low speed, and again the warning appeared, and again, it disappeared.i've contacted saturn who stated the fault was in the electronic brake control module (ebcm) and it would have to be replaced at a cost of over $1,000.i have been in contact with other relay owners who have experienced the same occurrence.this is obviously a safety related issue that can cause loss of control of the vehicle and result in death or serious injury.given that the fault is seen in other cars of the same make and model, i feel a mandatory recall should be issued to fix the problem before someone is injured or killed in a crash.
I had a 2005 saturn.i loved everything about it. I would have rated it as the most liked car of my life.however, the steering or brakes failed and actually caused my car to accelerate. I was in a church parking lot, getting ready to park my vehicle and when i applied the brakes, the car accelerated and i was headed for a tree, when i ran over a piece of playground equipment that stopped my wild ride.when i took it to saturn of lakeland, they said nothing had shownup on a computer but they did test drive it and could find nothing.they told me that i must have had my foot on the gas instead of the brake.i hada similar incident, must less dramatic before that when i was pulling in to park.both times i was making a left turn. That time i was almost stopped but did run into the curb. I have driven 49 years and these are the only two incidents when i supposedly had my foot on the gas and not the brake.it doesn't seem likely at all to me.well the frosting on the cake was that about two months later, i went out and was going to start my car and when i tried to put the car in gear the shifting level fell out of position and was only held in place by the covering over it. Saturn of lakeland did say they didn't think i had driven the car roughly but i did repair it at ny own cost. However, the lack of concern by saturn of lakeland, where i had purchased this car was less than pathetic. So, even though i liked the car a lot, i felt it was a safety hazard to be driving it. I gave up the fight in honor of my own safety and bought another car at a monetary loss to me.safety first saturn.
Failure of sliding side door to lockfailure of windshield wipersfailure of rear brakes.
The abs light came on while backing out of the driveway.it has been in to the shop 3 times.both hubs have been replaced. Abs warning continues to come on daily at random times.now the brake light is coming on with the abs sometimes while driving or braking.there are new brake pads and the rotors are good.but the brakes make a grinding sound once in awhile.the repairman wonders why there wasn't a recall by saturn.
Abs system warning light comes on intermittently.abs system shuts down while light is on.ebcm was replaced by gm dealer, but problem persists.

The contact owns a 2005 saturn relay.while driving 5-20 mph, the brake pedal extended to the floorboard when depressed.in addition, the pedal shuttered.as a result, there was a loss of steering.the dealer stated that debris in the plugs caused the failure.they cleaned the plugs; however, the failure continued to occur.as of january 30, 2008, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle.the failure mileage was 17,700 and current mileage was 34,880.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn relay.while driving 5 mph, the contact heard an unfamiliar noise.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the sway bar had failed and the rotors were puncturing the tires.the dealer replaced the bar and rotors, however the failure recurred.the dealer has been unable to duplicate the failure.the current mileage is 39,170 and failure mileage was 20,318.

There have been several occasions whereabs brakes and traction control needed to be activated.whenever they activated they failed.they will activate for about 1 second and then shut down with warningcoming on the display and saying to service the abs brakes and the traction control.also, the icons on the dashboardcome on,indicating the abs and traction control are shut down.until recently there wasn't a major problem , but on 1/23/2006 whenbrakes shut downvan almost ended up in a river with2 year oldchild in the van with me.according to my repair receipt the following was done. Customer states when hitting bump, traction control shuts off and abs activates, technicalservicebulletin 0108450050 stated checked female terminals and nonewere loose.packed connector with grease anddrove vehicle 10 miles. Could not duplicate. Their description of the problem isn't 100% accurate.i found another driver online who had the sameproblemwith the same year and modelvan.
I have a 2005 saturn relay.three weeks ago, the "service traction control system" warning message and light and the "service abs system" warning message and light started coming on intermittently (but both always at the same time). If i cut off the ignition and restarted the car, the messages and lights would go away until i started the car the next day.in a one-week period, these warnings and lights came on three to four times.the dealership warned me that when the warning lights were on, my car did not have abs or traction control.so i took my car to the dealership and, based on a computer diagnostic, paid $460 to replace the front right wheel hub and sensor.three days later, the warnings and lights came on again.this time, they stayed on even after turning off the ignition, removing the key and letting it sit for a minute.the lights have come on every time i have driven the car since. I have yet another service appt. On sept. 11.even though traction control and the abs system do not affect braking and vehicle control during normal driving situations, they are part of a safety system--a system for which i am receiving a discount on my insurance.i have also located at least ten other 2005 relay owners through online discussion boards that have had the same problem.many have said the problem is a faulty ebcm module.i will find out next tuesday when i take my car back into the dealer for the third time if this is something we should replace.however, i feel the problem is serious enough and widespread enough to warrant a recall.please, please check into this problem with the 2005 saturn relays. Even if the problem has not led to a personal injury or accident, the problem is related to a safety feature that all drivers depend upon.

2005 saturn relay.wheel speed sensor jumper wiring required replacement (indicated by warning light).issue is the anti-lock brakes will not function based on malfunctioning sensor.gm was aware of the issue, and had a procedure in place for dealer to implement.this should be a recall issue, as the remedy requires a different wiring process than originally engineered.drivers are at risk without anti-lock brakes. Brake rotors have warped 2 twice in the last 2 years. Saturn of beaverton has resurfaced the rotors the first time and had to replace the brakes (fall 2006). The 2nd time they are going to resurface again as far as parts i do not know at this time. Waiting for saturn to schedule service. (july 2007)
Brakes get so hot when traveling down a mountain that it causes the rotors to warp. The van shakes and shimmies and makes a loud sound as if you were traveling over rumble strips on the road. The van exhibited these failures around 15,000 miles. The problem still exists despite the dealer resurfacing the rotors. After driving the vehicle down hill the brakes get hot again and cause the rotors to be warped again.

Saturn 2005 relay makes a loud groaning noise when turning left or right.the noise can get loud enough to vibrate the car and my infants car seat.it scares me to drive a vehicle that vibrates my baby's car seat.saturn has tried to fix the problem 6 times. After each attempt they tell me it should be safe to drive.they have replaced the steering column, gear, wheel bearings, axle. Problem is still there they are now re-replacing the gear.

Power sliding doors don't latch properly. Motor will keep running on doors & as you are driving, if you hit a bump or make a sharp turn, the car dings like the door has opened. The only way to stop this is to pull over & open & then reclose the door.
Saturn relay started leaking water a month after purchase.took in for repair several times, filed for lemon law, saturn had their final attempt to fix the problem and failed.i was told by the corp office to take car back in so they could verify that it was still leaking, did that and they did in fact verify in writing that it was leaking, saturn refuses to abide by the law and give me a refund or new vehicle, in fact they wouldn't give me any option other than take it to be fixed.again???got myself an attorney!!!

The contact owns a 2005 saturn relay. Whenever the contact turns on the vehicle regardless if it is driven or not the rear driver side sliding door opened on its own without warning. The door has also opened and was extremely difficult to close manually. The vehicle was taken to the dealerwhere the contact was informed that the failure could not be reproduced. The vin was not available. The current and failure mileages were 89000.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn relay. While driving the rearsliding door opened without warning. He pulled over and it took 10 minutes to close the door. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the censors and motor were replaced. After the repair he experienced an identical failure. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and repaired at his expense. None on the repairs have remedied the failure.the failure mileage was 30000. The current mileage was 112107.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn relay.while driving between 5-45 mph, the contact heard a beeping noise.the noise indicated that the passenger side door was open, however, the door was closed.she had to open and close the door for the beeping noise to stop.the dealer stated that they cleaned the door pins.approximately a year and a half later, the failure recurred.the dealer stated that they changed the hard side trim.approximately six months later, the failure recurred for the third time.the dealer has not inspected the vehicle.the current mileage is 12,500 and failure mileage was 5,000.
Electric sliding door will open by itself on my 2005 saturn relay. Have to disable door to be sure it does not open while driving, but will enable itself and start opening by itself again. As saturn is out of business, do not know where to turn.
We purchase the van march 2006 as the first owners. The original problem started in june of 2007 when the passenger side power sliding door would open back up when closing. We took the van to the dealer and they replaced the door jam switch. The mileage at the time was 11,584. From that time to now dec 2008, with 31,000 miles, the problem has continued and adding in the driver side power sliding door. The problems ranged from doors closing and getting an alarm indicating that the door(s) were open to having to place the doors in manual in order to close them and still getting the alarm as if thedoors were open. After 15 visits to the dealer and all internal and external parts replaced, the problems still come back. There were two instances that we found, after the doors were repaired, they would not lock. This was found by one of our children opening the door before it was unlocked and the security system sounded. After the second time, the dealer informed us that it would not lock because of the door coming out of alignment not allowing it to engage. This makes me wonder if this has happened before and we were not aware. Also the fact that if it does not lock, then it could open while the vehicle is in motion. I have been in contact with saturn customer service numerous times with our concerns to no resolve of the problems. All they could do is offer minimal coverage that does not correct the problems with the doors and i have no peace of mind while traveling in the van with my family. I have read of numerous other 2005 saturn relay owners with the same problems as we have. I am afraid that it will take a serious injury or death before general motors takes this problem seriously. They obviously know there is a defect/design problem due to the fact that even the dealer acknowledges continuous repairs to this model of gm van and a design change in the 2008 models of gm vans with power sliding doors.
Right side automatic sliding door will not stay shut. The door has never opened during driving, but we had to shut the door probably 6 times before it would finally stay close. This has happened at least 3 or 4 times.

I have 6 kids 5 of which drive in the car quite a bit and i feel the car is unsafe.the dealer admitted to not knowing what to do with the vehicles transmission.i have no idea what's being done to my vehicle they said they will notify me when they make progress.
2005 saturn relay w/ only 38,000 needs left front hub bearing for wheel speed sensor replaced at a cost of ~$500.abs & t/c engages during normal breaking.obviously faulty parts that should warrant a recall before something happens.
The contact owns a 2005 saturn relay. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, a loud rattling noise emitted outside of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the dealer. All four wheel bearings were replaced. The failure recurred four years after the repair. The vehicle had not been repaired for most recent failure. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000.
I have a report from nhtsa id 05v552000about wrong tire pressure on door tag(35 lbs) and tire pressure should be 44 lbs.i have a 2005 saturn with the same problem. I have driven the vehicle for two years before it was pointed out by a friend. I have talked to a saturn dealer and they say there is nothing they can do about it . All i want is the right sticker for the door.
The valve stems on the tires are being cut by the wheel covers. They are flexible and at speed rub against the wheel covers. 3 of the 4 valve stems are being cut into. Showed the dealer and he did nothing. Contacted the manufacturer (saturn) and have not heard back. If nor fixed valve stem could rub through and result in a flat tire at speed resulting in an accidentat highway speeds.
I have a 2005 saturn relay. I purchased the vehicle "used" from saturn of tempe on march 1st, 2009. The mileage on the vehicle when i purchased it was 62,245. One year later i started getting "service traction control system" warning message and light with "service abs system" warning message and light occasionally, but both were always at the same time. Shutting off the engine and restarting (per owner?s manual) temporarily caused the lights and messages to turn off, but returned days later. I took the vehicle to fletcher's tire and auto service in maricopa, az on 3/23/2010. The service shop (fletcher's) performed a diagnostic check of the abs system; determining the replacement of the front left wheel hub assembly; costing me $452.36. This repair temporarily corrected the problem. One month later on 5/26/2010 i begin to get the same warning lights and messages. So i take the vehicle back to fletcher?s auto because they guarantee their work. Unfortunately they were unable to reproduce the error and had the same front left wheel hub replaced under warranty with the parts manufacturer at no cost to me.now one month later i am having the same issues. So i start looking online for this problem. There are multiple forums and chat room discussions with a sufficient number of complaints, for the same issue, at such web addresses as; www.aboutautomobile.com and www.saturnfans.com now with this information i look for recalls and find nothing. So i call saturn of tempe and speak to a gentleman in the service department who gave me the name mike. I explained to him the problem that i was having with my vehicle. I explained to him that i had taken it to a local mechanic (fletcher's) and had the hub assembly replaced twice with no resolution. He stated that i could bring it in for him to look at, but that there would be a $65 ?diagnostic? fee. I declined explaining to him that i had already invested $450 dollars in it and would return to the previous mechanic.
Abs system warning keeps lighting up. Went to dealer and they said sensor are bad and will $600 to replace. There are multiple reports from the saturn forum regarding same failures. This is a hazard and there needs to be a bulletin for gm to fix it for free.
The anti-lock brake system warning light and traction controlsystem (tcs) warning light continue to light up and stays on i have seen similar complaints on various chat sessions.
I purchased a 2005 saturn relay in may 2005.the cruise control is located on the steering wheel and not on the steering column.on several occasions when i was conducting a turn my blouse or skirt has got caught on the cruise control and i could not complete the turn and at times i was caught in the middle of the street.an article of clothing snags on the cruise control stretching the clothing as far as it will go and then the steering wheel is locked down.this is a serious problem and i have nearly had a wreck from it several times.
When i drive at night i have to turn my headlights off to use my turn signals. I have noticed that the turn signal on the driver's side of the 2005 saturn relay will not work unless the headlights are turned off. I have not had any accidents...yet. This is a real safety issue.
Failure of sliding side door to lockfailure of windshield wipersfailure of rear brakes.
