The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. The contact stated that the air bag and traction control would activate and deactivate independently. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or a mechanic. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000 and the current mileage was 75,000.

If the steel cable becomes fatigued and separates, the seatbelt may not properly restrain the seat occupant increasing the risk of an injury in a crash.failure of the side impact air bags and seat belt pretensioners to deploy in a crash increase the risk of injury to the driver and front seat occupant.

When driving at highway speeds i notice the indication lamp in the dash where speed, temp and direction is lit, flashes on and off intermittently. Also that webbing in rear seat belts does not retract and is frayed through and may result is failure to restrain occupants. Dealership claims all the recalls were address prior to the sale of the vehicle(1 owner) before it's sell to me the consumer.

We have replaced the headlight on this vehicle 3 times since october 2010. The headlight went out again last week.we took the car to a gm dealer who replaced the electrical housing to the lamp. After doing research on-line i have discovered that this seems to be a recurrent problem with the saturn outllook. We are hopeful that they wil make this a recall on the vehicle and the electrical housing to the headlights will be replaced.

I have a 2009 saturn outlook with approximately 28k miles.it has leaks in the front passenger compartment.recently the car would not turn off and the power would decrease and then surge back to normal.i am afraid to drive a car that accelerates unpredictably.we have had other electrical issues like engine lights coming on for no reason.the dealer can't recreate the problem but they don't try using water (hose or rain).i see many other people on the internet are complaining of similar problems with these cars.please call me at [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a progressive loss of electrical power without warning. Larry fannin chevrolet buick gmc (329 e main st, morehead, ky 40351, (800) 467-0411) indicated that the vehicle was excluded from the manufacturer internal contamination campaign (14515b) regarding the electronic chassis and replaced the electronic control module. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.*the consumer stated he also has 2 punctures inside bracket ofthe a/c line.

Driving and headlight goes out. Headlight has gone out two times since ownership of year and a half. I have replaced the wire harness on the driverside headlight once and going to replace it again! i will hang on to this harness for the future.

In 2016, i purchased a 2009 saturn outlook froma dealer, with 90,000 miles on it. Two months later, "transmission overheating, let engine idle" indicator came on, and the saturn shut itself down as i drove down i-35! mechanicsaid they couldn't find anything wrong. They reset my codes, and all seemed okay. This happened a few more times, but know one could tell me what was wrong other that bank 1 low. For the most part it drove without problems. Regular service maintenance, and oil changes consistent with the manual.i rarely drove it after the second year of owning it. On way home to oregon (purchased outlook in iowa), i continuously lost power going up the passes. Semi trucks were passing me, as if i were sitting still. With new air-filter system, maf sensor, coils, boots, and spark plugs installed i continued at a snail pace all the way to oregon. A two day trip took me seven days. Nobody could tell me what was wrong other than the bank 1 low, o2 sensor, which i replaced those as well.i get home and seven months later, i almost get hit by a school bus, because my saturn stalled in the middle of the intersection. Three light changes later, i make it across the street to the college. It shuddered all the way, till i parked it, where i had to wait to be towed three blocks to home. I paid over $15,000 for a vehicle that lasted me under 50,000 miles. It is paid in full, and is now dead. Still no clue as why. Codes showbank 1 and 2 low ? but why will it not start? why did my battery die? i could not have taken better care of my baby, if i tried! please, help me fix her. There is no reason for this vehicle to be out of commission, yet it is at 134,000 miles. Gm, please fix this. This was faulty at 90,500 miles. I have always taken great care of every car i have ever owned. It got worse after i took it to a chevy dealer in missouri!catalytic bank 1 and 2.

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. The contact stated that the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel and the vehicle would not accelerate over 30 mph. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostics who advised that the drains in the pillars were clogged, causing a short in the fuse box. There was also mold and water under the front driver and passenger sides of the floorboard carpet. The mechanic stated the fuse box would have to be replaced and the wiring harness would have to be cleaned. The carpet would also need to be replaced. Prior to the failure, the contact noticed a strong fishy odor in the vehicle, which also stalled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the contact was advised that the vehicle was equipped with an incorrect battery. The battery was replaced. The contact stated the battery was the original battery when the vehicle was purchased. The vin was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

Low beam headlight harness has completely melted resulting in bulb outages.first the passenger side and now two weeks later the headlight harness on the drivers side has melted.i am being told that this is a common problem and that eventually this should be a recall due to safety.

While driving home at night, the driver side headlight went out.next day i bought new lamps and replaced both of them but the driver side headlight still didn't turn on.i did notice a burning smell coming from the harness and lamp socket on the driver side. It seems that the headlight had overheated and melted the wiring harness and some of the socket assembly.after doing some research i found that many people have had the same issue with these vehicles and believe that this should be considered a recall for safety reasons.this could potentially cause and electrical fire or a serious traffic accident while driving at night.

Daytime running light, low beam headlight went out. Replaced bulb and light still didn't work. While reinstalling light flickered and i noticed there is a short within the harness.

The headlight keeps flashing on and off.when starting the vehicle, one headlight does not come on until ~5 minutes later.the bulb is ok.the wiring harness is not ok.i've talked to many other owners of the saturn outlook and they have had the same instances.the root cause is a bad wiring harness.they are overheating and melting!my outlook is now out of warranty and the dealer wants to charge me to replace the wiring harness.i've had the vehicle into the dealership when it was still under warranty for this issue.it is still not fixed.i am not paying for a poorly executed design issue.the engineers need to research more before they place a product in a vehicle of which can not withstand the conditions.thank you.

I bought a new 2009 outlook in august 2009 three times since buying the car, the battery has gone completely dead. The dealer has checked the car thoroughly and found no problems. They say that gm has put out a bulletin for an "intermittent parasitic draw", but no solution has been found to date. They are sympathetic to my problem, but can not do anything until gm finds the solution.

Driver headlight harness overheats, causing headlight to go out. This has happened three times now in less than two years. I replaced the connector harness and within a few weeks it had melted and the light was out again. When i looked up what to do i found out that many other saturn outlook owners have the same problem.

The headlamp on the right side went out in july 2011 and we had it replaced at a gm dealership.september 20th, 2011 rolls around and the same headlamp is out again!funny thing, as i'm driving around town i'm noticing the same problem (right side even) on other gm vehicles of the same body style.

Takata recall, to start i have had many issues with this vehicle including having to replace my transmission. Also my vehicle does not immediately start after filling up the gas tank, not when i had been empty just filling it up in general i have to try starting it a few times before it takes. My most recent and worrisome complaint is that the front blower motor has stopped a few times and today when pulling it out it was filled with water. I have children and cannot feel safe with them in such a poor quality vehicle. I know this model has been discontinued and i can see why. There are so many issues that are known about these vehicles and nothing has been done to protect the customer, recall these vehicles, they are dangerous.

There was a leak that soaked the front passenger floor.entire electrical system ultimately failed.initially car continued to run with the key removed.subsequent attempts to start vehicle resulted in key stuck in ignition and inability to start engine; battery only shows output of 4 volts!!!

Passenger side headlight went out, dealer said it was the entire 'assembly'.a few weeks later (today), the driver side headlight went out.i read all of the other similar complaints about this same issue.seems to me that a recall should be issued by gm.

I bought a brand new saturn outlook in 2009 and 3 month after i had to take to the dealer because a headlight was off. When i asked them if the light bulb had burned they told me if was a faulty headlight harness wiring had melted. I am experiencing the same problem again. I researched the internet and i found that i am not the only problem with this problem. I am afraid if this problem its not fixed by the manufacturer in a timely matter it may cause the dead of many people including my self due to an electrical fire.

Passenger headlamp went out. On my 2009 saturn outlook. Took the vehicle to the gm dealership for repair and found there was a fire in the wiring harness that controls the headlamps.

2009 saturn outlook headlight failure due to faulty wiring harness.

When i was entering moving traffic from a completely stopped position, a car was coming faster than i realized so i floored the accelerator and this is what happened: 1.all power to my car shut off and the car rolled forward slowing down. 2.all of the dashboard lights and symbols lit up. 3.my car jolted strongly once, sputtered (many times), and hiccupped (many times). The jolt was so strong that it threw me forward and made my seatbelt catch me. 4.at the same time as # 3, the gps rebooted itself 3 times in a row and all of the car door locks unlocked and locked themselves 3 times in a row. 5.i gently pressed the accelerator and the car accelerated but the car felt weak and i felt uncertain. I was not sure what would happen if i tried to accelerate normally so i put on my emergency blinkers and slowly drove home.

Second headlight went out on 2009 saturn outlook purchased august 2008.both times the harness needed replaced.first time the replacement was under warranty, the second time was not, but car is only 2 yrs 2mos old.both wiring harnesses were burnt out.

Transmission slips and car bucks, shutters, and skips at a rpm at around 1400-1600 rpm's.

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle began to experience a loss of acceleration which resulted in a loss of power without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the vehicle was unable to be diagnosed. The failure recurred 4 to 5 times. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000. The vin was not available.

Right headlamp burnt out october 2009. Had replaced bad bulb and then failed again in november 2009. Took to dealership and was told they replaced the harness and bulb due to harness being melted. Now right headlight failed again 10-22-11. This is a big safety concern in that you can't just swap out the bulb but you have to pull off the front bumper just to replace the bulb. Thank you for your time.

First occurrence: june 21, 2010--battery dead, key stuck in ignition.charged battery overnight.drove to dealership on june 22, 2010.dealership stated "battery failed load test, replaced battery."second occurrence:august 11, 2010--battery dead, key stuck in ignition, unable to place in neutral.charged battery overnight (unsuccessful).towed to dealership on august 12, 2010. Dealership stated "trouble shoot starter and charged system. Battery failed test, replaced battery." i was told by dealership advisor that it was just a bad battery.(this is the second time to just be a bad battery.)advisor said they ran a parasitic test on the battery to make sure nothing was drawing too much from the battery.that test came back normal.

No sound from speakers including radio, turn signals and warning alarms. Disconnected wiring boots from all 4 doors; each had 1/4 cup of water in them (figured this out by reading numerous complains about this vehicle, the gmc acadia and the buick enclave all having this issue).taken to dealer who stated a corroded wire zapped the amplifier (which again has been complained about on numerous web forums).$1020 to fix it a the dealership.gm needs to make this a recall.

Driver side headlight is inoperable.i tried replacing the bulb, fuse and relay.from further investigation i think it is the socket that is bad. This should not happen at this many miles.

Wiring harness melted.

The headlight wiring has melted

I have a 2009 saturn outlook and the front passenger headlight has gone out for the 2nd time and the vehicle has only 29900 miles on it. It was last replace when the vehicle had only 22000 miles on it. I know that multiple people have had this problem, it should be a recall due to all the issues. They say the wire harness is bad, but something is causing it to heat up too much.

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. While inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the front passenger side headlight was not working. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or independent mechanic. The light was replaced on various occasions, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 67,000. The vin was not available.

June 25, 2014: one week after we spent $1600.00 for an unresolved engine light issue we were somewhat hopeful that nothing else could go wrong with this vehicle. I went to unlock the car with the remote and it did not respond. My husband tried to jump start it and discovered that the battery was dead. The latest battery we purchased was in november 2013, so this was concerning to us. As we lifted the floor mat to get to the battery compartment we found mold. Once the battery cover was moved and the battery was removed we found about 2 inches of brown water at the bottom of the battery compartment. In addition, the battery which we kept had mold on it as well. We were blessed to have been at home when this occurred because the car was working the previous night with no issues. Had we been away from home this would have been a bigger issue because our children would have been with us in the hot, houston heat. This is safety concern because there is no reason that water should be in the bottom of the battery compartment. We have no idea how long the water was there and because of this i feel like we have to be cautious when it rains, even a little because the battery may die. I am glad we found this ourselves because we have pictures as evidence to support the issue. I have made this issue known to saturn customer care.

The wire harness going to the low beam left and right sides burning causing the lights to go out prematurely.

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. The contact stated that while attempting to turn, the steering wheel seized and failed to straighten out. Also, the door locks failed to unlock when exiting the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that a wire under the driver's seat malfunctioned and caused the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,948.

Drivers side headlight and running lights went out.

The wire harness for the front headlights fails after you change the build causing the light to short out.

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, smoke started emitting from above the driver side of the vehicle. The vehicle engulfed into flames. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

1. Daytime running lights automatically come on and stay on unless manually turned off by driver.2. The wiring harness in which the headlight connects melts due to excessive heat causing the headlight to fail and the harness having to be replaced.3. The repair at the dealer costs $250.this is a common issue with the saturn outlook due to poor design of wiring harness.

The front driver side headlight kept fizzing out. The underlying cause was a frayed and melted wiring harness that was not any good. There is no recall on it but saturn is aware. Hopefully it won't happen again, but if it does i'm afraid there lies a potential for a fire.

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. The contact turned the ignition off. The engine failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and it started on the first attempt. While driving approximately 20 mph, the entire instrument panel became nonfunctional. The gauges displayed a zero reading. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the instrument cluster was replaced; however, after the vehicle was repaired, the instrument panel intermittently malfunctioned. The manufacturer was notified and advised the contact that the failure would be investigated. The vehicle has not been repaired. The vehicle identification number was unavailable. The current mileage was 18,000. The failure mileage was 16,000.

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. The contact stated that she parked her vehicle, removed the keys from the ignition, and went inside her residence. Shortly after, she heard a commotion outside and noticed that the vehicle had rolled away and struck another vehicle. The contact entered the vehicle, depressed the brake pedal, and inserted the key into the ignition in an attempt to turn off the engine; however, the vehicle failed to shut off. There were no warning indicators illuminated prior to the failure. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic as having a fuse box failure and informed the contact of nhtsa campaign number: 09v073000 (power train). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and advised the contact to call nhtsa. An unknown dealer was contacted and stated that the vin was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was 186,000.

The engine on this vehicle has issues with the cylinders and misfires.this issue first started last year and was taken into the dealer for service at about 45,000 miles.the dealer could replicate the issue at speeds of about 55 mph where the engine would misfire and cause a lack of power.however due to a lack of engine codes they could not begin to solve the issue as to why this was happening.last week the issue became worse and resulted in a loss of power on the highway.fortunately there is now a code for the engine issue so we know that there are cylinder misfires and it can now be fixed.this is a dangerous issue for drivers as there can be a discernible engine problem that can not be diagnosed by gm's diagnostic equipment until there such a loss of power resulting in a safety issue.

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. While driving 30 mph, the oil pressure warning indicator illuminated intermittently. The dealer stated that the oil sending unit and bracket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000.

We always change our oil on time.took it to the oil change place he said there was barely any oil in it , we still had 200 mile before recommend oil change.then the while driving the engine light went on, we took it and my mechanic said that's this motor is burning oil. And can affect engine timing chain.the mechanic said to start putting synthetic oil in per gm. We we're never notified about oil issues or changing what type of oil to use. Now we are going to need an engine timing chain which is extremely costly.we haven't begun this process yet. But from what's i understand gm usb having tons of issues with motor. And we haven't never been notified about any preventive maintenance or care.

Transmission slips and car bucks, shutters, and skips at a rpm at around 1400-1600 rpm's.

I have a 2009 saturn outlook. Myself and several others have had outlooks and gmc acadias that have had to replace the water pumps. This seems like either a design or defective part issue with these gm cars. It seems like a recall should be done.

I was driving down the highway and all of a sudden my car slowed down really slow i pulled over and turned it off. When i tried to turn it back on it wouldn't crank.

The timing chain is getting stretched is what the codes say and needs to be repaired feels like it's loosing power

July 6, 2014 ? rpm / mpgas i was in the hov lane i tried to accelerate. I could hear the car transitioning, but the rpms and miles per hour did not match. At 3300 rpm the car was stuck at 60 miles per hour and would not shift out of third gear. When i took my foot off the gas the car slowed down but the needle was still on 60 miles per hour. The car randomly jerked as if it was pushing itself from behind. When i was able to stop the rpm was 2200 and the miles read 20 even though i was not moving. In addition, i had a full tank of gas when i began driving and when i came to a stopof the gas had been used.

Engine would stutter at around 70mph.issue resolved by continuing to replace ignition coils.finally a technical note was issued saying the ecm had an issue that would overheat and melt the ignition coils.last visit to dealer in jan 2014 replaced all ignition coils and the ecm.issue has not returned yet.if gm know about this issue, should they do a recall because it's a common problem according to the dealer.

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. While placing the vehicle in park position, the contact heard an abnormal sound coming from the air conditioning and heating vents. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the evaporation core needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 66,603. ...updated 03-10-16

Takata recalli bought my vehicle at the end of may, 2018. My engine light came on at the begining of october, 2018. I had got in my vehicle and stayed the engine amd it came on. I immediately took it to advance auto to get them to hook the hand held computer to the vehicle to see what was wrong. It coded 2 codes. One was for the timing chain and the other for the catalyst. They said i should take it to a big car shop so they could put it om the better computer. It codes the same codes. The mechanic said this is an issue with these gm engins. However, they are not on recall. I still owe around 9,000 dollars on this vehicle. I am not in a situation that i can spend over. $2,000 on this vehicle. In listening to the mechanic and doing my own research, i have found this to be a real problem. I believe it needs to be fixed at the cost of the manufacturer.

I brought a saturn outlook in 2009 and had numerous issues similar to what has been detailed in this website.- both headlights failed to work - one covered under warranty & cost of second one reimbursed by gm under the recall- starter failed - covered under warranty- failed water pump at 73k - i paid for replacement- steering gear and pump replacement because the steering locks up at low speed @ 78kmy third vehicle but first gm and the experience with saturn/gm have been frustrating. I see others have experienced similar failure on this mode.documenting these vehicles for future use or possible help from gm or dot.

I was waiting at a stoplight and heard an unusual noise from the engine. When i accelerated on the gas peddle, i noticed that the transmission would not shift normally and would not exceed over 30 mph. I made it to work but when i tried to reverse out of the parking lot, the car would not move at all and displayed "check engine light" icon. I had to push it out of the parking lot then drive forward slowly back home. I called around town to check the best solution for the problem. I also checked online and discovered that other saturn outlook owners had the same issue and the same broken part when it was diagnosed and repaired which leads me to believe that general motors is aware of the problem and failed to recall my vehicle and add the failed transmission problem to the recall list.

Check engine light came on while driving and veh immediately lost power.could not drive over 30mph, and engine began smoking.dealer stated fuel injector was "dumping gas".(guess that would explain the bad gas mileage). Fuel injector and catalytic converter changed.5 months later check engine came on again at 44,000mi. Dealer states compression problem with fuel injector. The fuel injector was replaced again, but now the dealer is saying there is also a problem with cam shaft. My veh is still in the shop as of today, so i am still not sure if the problem has been resolved.

Owner noticed a whining noise when turning at low speeds. Dealer diagnosed a failed steering rack (pinion), leaking power steering pump, and leaking water pump. Vehicle was purchased new in 2009 and currently has 39,000 miles (no longer under bumper to bumper warranty).

July 5, 2014:previously we would smell the scent of water that had been there for a while, but there was no evidence of where it would come from. When we left our destination it was dry, but rain was in the forecast. It began to rain heavily as we continued to drive and suddenly, i felt water on my feet. By the time i checked the floor mat, it was heavily soaked and water was flowing from the bottom right side of the passenger seat. We had to make a stop on the way home while it was still raining. When we returned to the car the passenger floor mat was even more drenched. This is a safety concern because water that is undetected and that sits for a while leads to mold, which we found. This can lead to breathing issues, especially since the vehicle doors have to stay closed. I took pictures as evidence to support this issue. I have made this issue known to saturn customer care.

I took my 2009 saturn outlook xe to the gm service center yesterday only to find out at 45000 my steering rack and pump needs to be replaced at $1300 +.also, my timing chain is gone.my air conditioner stopped blowing cold air for the second time and lastly when i turn on my defrost it comes out at my feet.the air and the defrost i am still waiting for them to figure out the problem.how can gm get away with this.i haven't even reached 50000 miles and my car needs close to $5000 in repairs.gm need to stand behind their vehicles and put out a recall on the steering rack before someone gets seriously hurt or killed.please, someone do something.

My headlights keep going out randomly and this very unsafe as i am a single mother of 2 young children! i have had it fixed 4 times! the last time i took it to the shop, i was told the wiring harness keeps melting. I researched this problem and many others are also having experiencing this issue.

Right side headlight wiring came out of connector and melted connector head

Low beam headlights not working causing a safety hazard at night.put in new bulb still not working.wiring defective and melted. Could cause a fire hazard.

I have a 2009 saturn outlook and the passenger side head light went out in march of 2011 (there was no message in the car to indicate this either). I took it to the local gm dealership and had the light bulb replaced. Which cost over $40 (because of the difficulty with having to remove the tire just to replace the bulb). To my unpleasant surprise the passenger side head light is out again after only 3 months.

The wire harness going to the low beam left and right sides burning causing the lights to go out prematurely.

Passenger headlamp went out. On my 2009 saturn outlook. Took the vehicle to the gm dealership for repair and found there was a fire in the wiring harness that controls the headlamps.

I own a 09 saturn outlook, the drivers side headlight went out while driving . There was no accident but on looking into the matter it seems to be a common problem with the wiring harness for the headlight which i was quoted 700 dollars to fix with only 37000 miles on my car.this should not happen to a brand new car and if it is as common as it sounds there should be a recall to fix the issue at no expence to the owner. There is a tech.serv. Bullitin out by g.m. On the matter #09-08-42-004 if this holds true its an admittion to a reoccuring problem.

Replace drivers side headlamp november 6, 2011 it has burned out again with only 1800 more miles than first incident. So by december 16, 2011 it has burned out again.my previous vehicles i have put close to 200k miles on and never replaced one headlight, now i have 2.there is a problem with this vehicle.

Headlight socket got hot and melted the wiring.

Passenger-side low-beam on 2009 saturn outlook has ceased function after only 25k miles. In researching options for repair, i discovered numerous online accounts of the same complaint and the cause was found to be a defective wiring harness.as of this writing, nothing has been done.i have a dealer appointment in the next few days.

Headlight harness melted.

My driver side headlight has burnt out three times.i've had the bulb replaced twice and now am told that the wire harness is burnt and melted, causing the shorts/burnt bulbs.labor to replace this is excessive, due to the poor access to the headlight compartment.

My passenger headlight went out.i replaced it and it was temporarily fixed for 1 1/2 weeks when it went out again.a few days later, the drivers side headlight went out as well.so i was driving in the dark with no working headlights.

I have a 2009 saturn outlook i bought new from a greenwood, indiana, dealership in july 2009. For the second time in three months, the passenger's side headlight has stopped working. I had it fixed three months ago by the dealership. Well, i got pulled over my an officer this morning on my way to work. Lo and behold, the same headlight was out again. The officer told me he has problems with many saturns having headlights out.

Headlamps burn out without warning after only a few months. Have been replaced twice in one year. Wire harness is melting.

I have a saturn outlook 2009 and only had it a few months before the headlight went out and i thought it just blew out so i had it changed then it went out a month laterthey told me it was the wires holding it togetheri think it ridiculous i have to pay for this cause its a safety issue . I see that alot of people are having issues with this and i think there should be a recall.

Low beam headlight harness has completely melted resulting in bulb outages.first the passenger side and now two weeks later the headlight harness on the drivers side has melted.i am being told that this is a common problem and that eventually this should be a recall due to safety.

2009 saturn outlook headlight wiring harnesses have melted on both the drivers and passengers side for the low beams, and the harness and light bulbs had to be replaced.

My passenger headlight has been replaced 2 times on my 2009 saturn outlook since the warranty expired and i now am told there is a short in the harness-is this a recall item?

Driver side low beam headlight went out .replaced headlight but it did not fix the problem.found an existing tsb that this could be a shorted wiring harness.took it to the dealer andit was a shorted wiring harness.they replaced it and all worked fine.my complaint is that gm knows this is a problem and does not fix it.if it had been out of warranty, i would have had to pay for the repair.this type of problem could have caused a fire, # 1 safety problem.#2 safety problem is that now i was without a headlight and had to get it to a dealer to get it back.not all of us live close to dealers, we are 50 miles from the nearest.

Replaced passenger side headlamp and 2 weeks later it was burned out again. I have now replaced the same headlamp 4 times in 2 months. The dealership is saying they will have to charge an outrageous amount for diagnostics. The wiring harness appears to be burned. Over $500 to repair.

The left driver side headlight keeps going out every two to three months.the problem appears to be intermitten.the light pops in and out.you never know when you will have the proper lighting on your vehicle.i have changed the bulb so many times now and it appears to be very sensitive.

Had a problem with my drivers side headlight at about 23,000 miles.i took it in to be repaired and they had to replace the wiring harness.i have read of many similar complaints and i think gm should replace all of the harnesses on this vehicle.

The headlamp on the right side went out in july 2011 and we had it replaced at a gm dealership.september 20th, 2011 rolls around and the same headlamp is out again!funny thing, as i'm driving around town i'm noticing the same problem (right side even) on other gm vehicles of the same body style.

Passenger side headlight failed on 07/09/2011, reducing night time exterior lighting necessary for safe operation. I purchased and installed replacement headlamp on 07/10/2011 which subsequently failed on 07/15/2011.further examination indicates a failed/failing headlight wiring harness system precluding proper operation of the exterior lighting necessary for safe nighttime operation.

Headlamp harness melted on both sides and causes headlamps to go out couldalso be a fire hazard.

2009 saturn outlook - i have had to replace both headlights and harnesses, because the harness shorted out.the cost to me was approx. $600.00 to replace harness and light bulbs.i feel this is a safety issue and should be a recall.i have about 55,000 miles on my outlook.

Wiring harness melted.

2009 saturn outlook headlight failure due to faulty wiring harness.

Low beam outage driver and passenger sides 2009 saturn outlook. An excessive amount of current causes a melting of the weak wiring and connector assemblies on both low beam headlights causing the leads to carbon coat and in effect become non conductive. Due to the outage and ill placement of the headlamps (too deep into the assembly) if one or both the headlamps become non functional, the vehicle becomes a hazard to drive during minimal light conditions.

Driver's side low beam headlight bulb blown and harness connecter melted to bulb socket--car has 26071 miles.

I purchased the outlook in july and noticed a few weeks later that the drivers side low-beam headlight was out.i returned it to the dealer thinking it was just a burnt out bulb and they replaced it for me, but noted that the whole socket had melted away and had to be replaced. 4 months later the same thing has happened again!the frequency and severity of the problem indicates that the wiring is faulty for the headlights in this vehicle.it is not a stretch to think that an electrical issue that causes components to melt could cause a fire and affect the safety of me and my family.

2009 saturn outlook, passenger side headlamp went out. Took to dealer, was burnt (melted) wiring harness. Had to pay $250 for new harness and light. Today is sept. 10th and today the driver side headlamp went out. Have to go back to the dealer again.

The front driver side headlight kept fizzing out. The underlying cause was a frayed and melted wiring harness that was not any good. There is no recall on it but saturn is aware. Hopefully it won't happen again, but if it does i'm afraid there lies a potential for a fire.

Passenger side low beam headlight goes out. Intermittent issue. It is a problem with the wiring harness.

Both headlights no longer work . . . Unless the wires or jiggled.both headlamp wire harnesses fail to turn on bulb.

Low beam headlight on 2009 saturn outlook will not work due to faulty wiring harness.

Driving and headlight goes out. Headlight has gone out two times since ownership of year and a half. I have replaced the wire harness on the driverside headlight once and going to replace it again! i will hang on to this harness for the future.

I have a 2009 saturn outlook with faulty headlights i have replaced the lights and it seems the problem is in the wiring not the light itself i see were many people are having issues with this vehicle what does it take to get g.m. To fix this safety issue?

The wiring in the headlight of the vehicle was completely fried.the headlight went out.i received a warning ticket from the police the same day the headlight went out.the headlight is not covered under any warranty even though it was the wiring that caused the headlight to fail.i have been told by the dealership that it will cost me around $700 for labor and parts to replace the headlight on a vehicle that is only 2 years old.the light went out because of an issue with the wiring.i have read online of many others that have the same issue.i think this needs to be recalled and that i should be reimbursed for any monies i am out of pocket for having to fix the headlight due to a manufacture wiring problem!

My right front headlight went out. Went and bought a new bulb.that didn't work.realized that the wiring harness was burnt and had shorted out.have not replaced it yet, because the labor involved requires multiple hours of labor to replace.

Drivers side headlight is dim. Does not even put light on the road.passengers side headlight is bright but goes on and off at random times.when i'm driving down the road at night both of them work then the passengers side goes out completely and because the drivers side is so dim i can't see

The passenger side low beam light no longer works, and bulb replacement does not fix the problem. Mechanic said the wiring harness needs to be replaced.

The headlights on my 2009 saturn outlook stopped working.per the gm dealer they claimed that there is a known defect with the lighting on these vehicles.considering these are safety items i'm not really sure why there isn't already a recall on this.

The headlight wiring harness melts in these vehicles causing the light to fail, this is well documented on the internet on various forums. Early this morning my wife was pulled over by a police officer for having one working headlight, i attempted to replace the bulb and it still does not work, information on the internet lead me to discover melted wires on the light fixture, this is a huge safety problem with this vehicle. There is also a well documented problem with the front end suspension, it fails prematurely and my outlook is also having this problem. It also has power steering failure, the air conditioning system is failing, along with all the other safety systems that need recalled on this piece of gm junk pile. I have a wife, and beautiful two year old twin girls, who use this vehicle frequently, shame on gm for putting this thing on the road, the whole thing should be recalled and shredded for scrap, owners should be fully reimbursed the current value of vehicle.

I recently purchased a 2009 saturn outlook.i have had it for a little over 2 months and the passenger side low beam headlight went out.my husband and i purchased a replacement bulb and were finally able to get it changed only to discover that the harness was melted and the new bulb wouldn't work.i saw where quite a few other people have posted the same complaint.i don't know how likely it is that this could cause serious problems.it seems as though if something is causing enough heat to melt the harness that it could possibly generate enough heat to cause a fire.

The low-beam headlights in my 2009 saturn outlook have a severe safety issue -- they are failing regularly now, wish poses a major issue when it occurs at night.i purchased the car used from a local dealer in november 2009, and while i was test driving it, the right low-beam bulb burned out.to my knowledge, this was the original bulb and it was to be expected that it would need to be replaced after 35000 miles.however, in early february 2010, the same bulb went out again, this time simultaneous to the left low-beam bulb burning out (the expected burn-out of the original bulb), leaving me with no headlights at night.the dealer informed me that the harness for the right bulb had melted and would have to be replaced along with the bulb.they performed the service free-of-charge.now, less than two weeks later, the right headlight is out again, and i am taking it in for repair.i have read complaints from many 2007 and 2008 saturn outlook owners with the identical problem, but none yet for the 2009 model year, presumably because few 2009s have as many miles as mine does at this time.this repeated failure is both (1) very dangerous and (2) very costly.when a fix or recall is issued for the 2007 and 2008 model years, it needs to be carried forward for the 2009 model year, as it is clear that saturn used the same assembly for all three years and the 2009s are having the same problem as the earlier models.

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. The contact stated that the headlights continued to blow out and the passenger side headlight was inoperable. The dealer advised the contact to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was aware of the failure. A private mechanic inspected the vehicle and informed the contact that the wires in the headlight melted and the entire headlight capsule needed to be replaced. No repairs were performed. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000 and the current mileage was 42,000. The vin was unavailable.

Low beam headlight connector burned. The burned connector keeps the contacts from making a connection. Light will not illuminate.

Second headlight went out on 2009 saturn outlook purchased august 2008.both times the harness needed replaced.first time the replacement was under warranty, the second time was not, but car is only 2 yrs 2mos old.both wiring harnesses were burnt out.

2009 saturn outlook xe, 37,000 miles the driver side low beam light was working intermittently and now is not working at all.inspected bulb and connector and the connector melted.it appears there is a common issue with the gm headlamp wire harness.

The headlight wiring has melted

2009 saturn outlook, driver side hid headlight has quit working (less than 27k miles).i assume the headlight lamp or bulb is burnt out, owners manual directs the owner to have dealership perform the repairs.

Driver side headlight is inoperable.i tried replacing the bulb, fuse and relay.from further investigation i think it is the socket that is bad. This should not happen at this many miles.

Driver side low beam head light went out. Also day time driving light on driver side out. I was told by dealership repair that the wire harness needs to be replaced.

The wire harness for the front headlights fails after you change the build causing the light to short out.

We own a 2009 saturn outlook with 25000 miles on it. We have owned it for 14 months. When it was time for state inspection the passenger side low beam light went out. At the inspections place they had to replace the bulb to pass inspection. The mechanic found a completely burned out bulb socket. As it was saturday and there wasn't a part readily available to replace the socket it had to be fixed temporarily. The mechanic said that the wiring harness was pinched against a metal bracket and over time had worn until it shorted out. I will be going to the dealership for a free replacement or will be seeking legal action against saturn/gmac.

Saturn outlook, 2009 model year.passenger side headlight is not working, so i bought a new bulb and went to replace it.i found that the wiring harness is partially melted, and the connector that seats the bulb makes intermittent connection.even the original bulb which i thought was bad will still work if the connector is manipulated (wiggled).i visited saturnoutlookforum.net and found that many owners have had the exact same problem.this needs to be addressed by gm as a recall or service issue, and melting in the wiring harness can cause an electrical short and possible fire in the engine compartment.

Drivers side headlight and running lights went out.

Headlamps (driver side and passenger side) low beams keep burning out every 3-4 months.

The low beam headlights burn out approximately every 3-4 months. It appears that there is melting of the lighting electric harness. When the headlights go out, the road is not illuminated as much making it a safety hazard.

I own a 2009 saturn outlook, which was purchased in may 2009.since then we've had both headlights burn out.i previously had a 2001 saturn sl1 and in the 8 years i had it i never had to replace a headlight.i've read that there is a known issue with the wiring harness.just to change the lightbulb requires removing the entire bumper to even get to the headlight.since this is not an easy task it then costs at a minimum of $300 just to get a lightbulb changed!i unfortunately made the mistake of not researching this before purchasing this vehicle, but who would have thought that it would cost me an additional $600 plus just to change two lightbulbs.

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. The contact stated the low beam lights failed. The contact further inspected the failure and found that the wiring harness was overheating and causing the bulb connection to fail. The contact stated he would perform the repairs on the vehicle and replace the wiring harness with a heavy duty wiring harness. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 42,000 and the current mileage was 44,000.

Lost functionality of headlight on drivers side low beam. Replace the bulb twice as bulb would initially work but quickly lose functionality again. It became evident that there was a problem with the plug. The issue is not with the bulb as if you wiggle the wire going into plug the bulb will resume functioning. Plug needs to be replaced, this includes the assembly that controls all light functions. We have heard of this complaint from many other outlook owners as well. This defect considerably limits the ability to drive safely at night.

Left headlight not working. Purchased replacement bulb but when old bulb was removed from harness i discovered that the harness connector is melted at the bulb to harness junction.

When driving the vehicle the low engine power light came on and car went into limp mode and would go no faster than 20 mph. I turned around to head home and pulled over and shut it off for a few seconds. When restarted ran fine for a couple days.i took it to dealership and they said it needed a new throttle body. I asked if this is normal and the service advisor told me that gm knows about this and that it happens on cars less then one year old, but gm won't do anything about it because it is not a safety concern. The advisorsuggested that if i did the repair myself not to but an gm unit as they are having problems with the replacement parts. I purchased a new unit from after market co. No problems since. Then 8/8/14 with 91,000 the same thing happened again, took it to another dealership was told fuel pump was bad.i took the car to a reputable mechanic they replaced the pump on the information from the dealership, but it did not fix the problem, was told could be fuel pressure module. Will find out today if that fixes it. My big problem with all this is that the car is five years old warranty has expired and these repairs are not cheap. If gm knows about thousands of defective parts why are they not doing something about it or being made to do so.

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook.while driving at any speed, the check engine light would illuminate and the vehicle would suddenly shut off.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the fuel pump flow module needed to be replaced.the repair was made, but the failure still persists.the current and failure mileages were 5,336.updated 09/14/09. *ljupdated 09/16/09.

On 10/24/2014, while driving my 2009 saturn outlook with my children in the car, i was entering the ramp onto a major expressway, pushed down onto the gas pedal to speed up to enter the highway traffic when a loud bang was heard and i felt the vehicle rev to higher rpm and then the check engine light came on. I noticed immediately that the vehicle responded like it was stuck in 3rd gear and would not shift up or down in "d". I was almost smashed by a odot dump truck but averted that by pulling to the far right lane. The vehicle would not accelerate any faster than 50 mph on the expressway. I was within 5 miles of my dealership and babied the vehicle to their location. I explained my vehicle issue to the dealer service rep and he said they could not get it in that day to check it because it was a friday and they are not doing service work over the weekend. Rental car rented and left my car there over the weekend. I was contacted the following monday with a request for authorizing a $500.00 charge to pull the transmission to check internally for the problem. The service rep said they have seen a lot of problems with this and other gm made vehicle resulting in the 35r clutch wave plate breaking and the only way is to pull the transmission to see. I gave him my authorization but asked him for a rough estimate for the repairs which he said about $3,500.00. I have been without my vehicle for almost a week and through internet search i have come across as many as upward of 17,000 online response's about the continued problems with the 35r clutch wave plate as far back as 2008 with the gm acadia, chevrolet traverse and saturn outlook. I am requesting with nhtsa that something be said to gm about this complication with a "known" problem that nothing has been recalled. I even came across a post that noted the problem with notification to reps from january 12, 2010 from a forum.

September 16,2014 around8:30 pm we were driving on i10 westbound and accelerated to get in the main lanes. The car made the accelerated noise but was stuck in gear at 4400 rpms at 40 miles per hour. We pulled over in a parking lot to test the acceleration and it was hard to tell driving in a short distance, but as soon as we pulled off and attempted to accelerate again the same issue occurred. The next time the car began to lose power as if it would stop so we pulled into another parking lot and cut the car off. When we turned it back on and drove the issue went away.

Vehicle stutters and hesitates at random times.more at high speeds around 60-65 mph. Trouble shifting into gears at times.

While driving my vehicle came to a stop, i tried to move forward and it had no power and was making a weird noise. It also had no reverse or power in any gears. I took it to mechanic and he stated that it is the wave plate in the transmission. He also stated it is very common in these vehicles.the cost of repair would be around $4000. Me and my children could of very well been injured by being hit. This is very unsafe. I have replaced a fried headlight socket, which was melted badly. I've put new struts on this vehicle. Also had the awd sensors repaired because the vehicle kept clicking in and out of awd when driving, cost $400.

In april 2013 the transmission wave plate was replaced. This is august 1st the dealership calls and the wave plate needs to be replace again. By reviewing forums it seems alot of gm's transmissions are not what they are suppose to be. Please consider reviewing the transmission problems, the vehicle only has 63000 miles. We are paying thousands of dollars for these vehicles and we not getting anywhere our monies worth. I purchased in may of 2013...power train warranty 5years or 100000 miles, come on i was in a no win. For surethanks in advance for your consideration for review.

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. While driving 70 mph, the contact felt an abnormal movement coming from the front of the vehicle. The contact inspected the vehicle, but was unable to locate the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the wave plate and the speed sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.

I stopper the vehicle, in my drive way, which has a very slight incline, placed the shift lever in park. Exited and locked the vehicle. As i was stepping away it started to roll backwards. It stopped on its own after rolling backwards several feet. I unlocked the vehicle, applied the parking brake, started the vehicle, released the parking brake.i drove the vehicle in reverse and then forward several feet, placed the shift lever in park, shut the vehicle off. I did not move. I put on the parking break to be safe. For your information, just prior to this issue, while pulling into the drive way the built-in garage door opener started to open the door, the door stopped and the opener would not restart the garage door to open/close.

Transmission slips and car bucks, shutters, and skips at a rpm at around 1400-1600 rpm's.

Wave plate shavings caused transmission to fail while driving on interstate.

I was driving down the highway and all of a sudden my car slowed down really slow i pulled over and turned it off. When i tried to turn it back on it wouldn't crank.

When in park the car still rolls like the park lock is not engaged.

Takata recall. I've had this car for about 6 months and there was a studder when driving at speeds less than 60mph. Took it to a dealership and was told it has a bad transmission. It also get stuck and is hard to turn the wheel when turning and i believe this is a power steering problem that needs to be corrected before it causes an accident. Looking at reviews on this vehicle, i see both of these issues are common with the saturn outlook and should both be in a recall.

Transmission failed and would not allow vehicle to operate.

2009 saturn outlook.consumer writes in regards to transmission and check engine light issues.the consumer stated the vehicle had to be towed to a transmission shop, as he could no longer drive it. The vehicle was in the shop for five days. Upon driving home, the engine light illuminated again. The consumer returned to the transmission shop, where he was informed they could not fix, and in fact, they had taken a part to the dealer for re-programming. The repair shop replaced the torque converter.

Transmission lost reverse and lower gears.gm dealer said to replace the trans for a cost of about $4600.00. Car only has 72,000 miles. Have found numerous complaints for same reason. Gm knows of the problem and should pay for the replacement or at least half.stop at single and tried to go thru intersection and trans started slipping only drove it one mile home, pulled into garage. Called gm in morning to be towed to dealer. Transmission would not go into reverse. Will not get complete bill until april 8th when vehicle will be fixed.

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. The contact stated that the rear driver side seat belt locking mechanism became fractured. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 10v375000 (seat belt). The failure mileage was 38,000.

Lowering the 2nd row seat backs broke the center seat belt buckle (receiver) so that the seat belt cannot be used. When i contacted my local gm dealer regarding repair and to ask if there is a lifetime warranty on the seat belts, i was told "no. The repair is $240."please let me know if there is a lifetime warranty on seat belts or is it just good customer relations by the manufacturers such as honda that do guarantee them. The bare steel mount has sharp edges so i put a cloth and tape over it to protect my passengers from injury. My vehicle was stationary in my garage when this occurred.

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. The contact stated that the second-row passenger's side seat belt malfunctioned and ceased and would not latch securely. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer cole krum chevrolet located at 12707 us-131, schoolcraft, mi 49087 and the manufacturer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included nhtsa campaign number: 10v375000 (seat belts). The contact stated that the vehicle experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 130,000.

If the steel cable becomes fatigued and separates, the seatbelt may not properly restrain the seat occupant increasing the risk of an injury in a crash.failure of the side impact air bags and seat belt pretensioners to deploy in a crash increase the risk of injury to the driver and front seat occupant.

The passenger-side seat belt in the middle row releases unexpectedly -- just pops unbuckled for no apparent reason. After this had happened repeatedly, i had the buckle assembly replaced at my cost, about a month ago (august, 2012). It has happened twice since then, to two different passengers. I was told at the dealership, "we know there have been problems with these buckles." i was also told "it is extremely sensitive, be careful not to bump it when it is in use." ok, so, if there's a crash, just be careful not to bump the seat belt buckle assembly so that it won't let go? this is not safe and needs to be fixed, but the dealership swears that there is nothing wrong with my belt and buckle assembly. This is a very dangerous problem that gm will not even acknowledge. The buckles should not release when "lightly bumped." they should not be "highly sensitive." they should be buckled until they are deliberately released by the passenger!

Recalls 14030, 14187, 15240 dealer contacted to perform recalls refused to call back with appointment date.

After folding the second row seats flat to move some lightweight donations i had trouble with the drivers side 2nd row seat belt receiver.i was driving with my 7 year old daughter properly restrained and the seat belt came unlatched and she was unprotected.this happened on two more occasions and then i inspected the seat belt receiver cover and noticed it was cracked.i found nhsta service bulletin number 10v37500 / gm recall no. N100243 and feel as though this recall describes my issue exactly.i brought this to the attention of my dealer, suburban cadillac/gmc in troy, mi and they stated my vin did not apply to this issue.i contend that it should and they said to contact you.i paid $203.40 to have it repaired.

Middle row outboard seatbelts needed replacing in 2016; gm wouldn't warranty them, even after i asked their safety department 2x. I replaced them with new ones from gm, and those seatbelts are now coming apart. This is an ongoing problem. Pictures attached are current.

Driving on highway when warning appeared "traction control offline" "service stabilitrak". My husband had received the same warning two days earlier. So we took it to the saturn dealership. The tech asked us if we drove "two footed" ie braking and accelerating at the same time. We do not do that. We were then advised that the sensors for the position of the brake pedal needed to be replaced the part was only $11.40 but we were charged for 2 hours of labor!

Gm said the power steering rack is leaking and would cost about $1900.

Complete loss of steering assist, vehicle nearly impossible to turn at low speeds (i am a 6'-1" male in good physical shape).nearly caused crash due to inability to turn at low speed.extremely concerned with safety as normal driver is my wife with our 2 kids in the vehicle, i am certain she would not have been able to steer the vehicle given the difficulty i had to turn the wheel.took to nearby trusted, licensed mechanic, after diagnosis found that needed new power steering pump and rack and learned that there is a known problem with power steering pump and rack in this and "sister" gm vehicles.i verified this by finding numerous similar posts in on-line forums.mechanic replaced the power steering pump and rack at a cost of $1,100.i feel lucky that there was not an accident, and now upset that there is such a widespread problem out there that could cause injuries and is costing consumers big $ to repair.

On multiple occasions, we have lost the power steering while turning the vehicle.it is most prevalent with deeper turns, so it happens most often at low speeds, such as u-turns and in parking lots.the lost of the power steering gives the driver the sensation of a complete lost of steering.a local mechanic contacted a dealership technician who told him that they had not had any complaints of this on saturn outlooks, but have had several buick enclaves with a similar problem.they recommended changed the type of power steering fluid, and if that did not work then we may need to change the type of power steering pump on the vehicle.so far we have changed the fluid, but it has not been a successful solution as the problem is still occurring.

Was driving 60mph while going around a corner on a highway and the power steering failed. Almost caused us to wreck but was luckily able to regain control.this issue should be investigated and a recall issued. Pulled into a shop when we get into town and fluid is full, it's now at the dealer being diagnosed.

Our outlook had to have the power steering pump replaced due to a high pitch squeal when accelerating. The dealer also had to correct an issue with squeaking in the steering column. I have now heard of others with similar issues with the outlook or acadia.are these issues that should be recalled?

My wife was driving the vehicle was stopped at a red light when the power steering pump i will say exploded fluid everywhere and the vehicle would no longer turn at all i'm 6'1 270 athletic and could not move the steering wheel...i have read so many people having the same power steering issue and and no recall has been made...

Vehicle turning at low mph was difficult.took to dealership and they are stating the seals in the rack and pinion seals were leaking and rack and pinion needed to be replaced - $1,400.

I have had my outlook for roughly a year and a half ago now, and my power steering seems to go out when going a low speed and turning. It has caused me 2 accidents so far within months of each other, increasing my insurance to $460/mo. One was backing up, it stopped turning and it backed into a vehicle, and the other was parking, it stopped and i scraped against another. I see this is a common problem. Something needs to be done about this. This could potentially kill someone. I'm in florida and we are allowed to turn left/right on green. God forbid someone is speeding while i'm doing a u-turn, because they would definitely smack into me since it's so hard to turn. I am quite sure i have the muscles i do from trying to turn my vehicle. It happens the most parking, u turns (or slow turns in general), backing up, and 3 point turns.

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. The contact stated that there was a squeaking noise coming from the steering wheel while turning. The failure recurred intermittently and when the contact was driving at different speeds. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. Later, the vehicle was taken to the dealer for unrelated repairs when the technician advised that there was a steering failure and the steering system would have to be repaired. The contact was unaware of the repairs that were necessary to correct the failure. The contact continued to drive the vehicle and advised that the power steering assist failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000.

Purchased car used in 2012. Problems started about a month later. First windows stopped rolling down and side mirrors unable to be moved. Was finally able to get that fixed in april of 2013, except the mirrors, they failed to fix those. Brake pedal was making a squeaking sound when pressed. Was also fixed in april 2013. A squeaking or grinding sound started when turning along with a loud metallic squeaking sound when going over speed bumps, pulling into driveway, stuff like that. In april 2013, the rack and pinion was replaced. All this was under my extended warranty. About 4 or 5 months after that repair, the same things were happening. A grinding sound when i turn, brake squeaking again, the same sound going over speed bumps and losing power steering fluid. Took car back to dealership, unable to have it seen for a month. When i was able to get it in, it was well over the parts warranty and the extended warranty was out. Now the same things need to be replaced, plus the engine mount is broken and needs to be fixed. When i complained to the dealership about it and letting them know that i tried to get my vehicle in while the warranty was still valid, they offered to pay $750, leavingme to cover the other $956. I haven't even had them try to figure out why my car doesn't start right away only after i put gas in the tank, regardless of how much gas is already in the tank. I am guessing that is some sort of fuel pump problem, but i'm not a mechanic. I have also had to replace my left rear blinked light twice in under 6 months. I take care of my vehicle, i don't drive it off-road or over pot holes and i don't hit curbs. I don't believe there is any reason for these items to be failing like they are, except that there is a huge problem with the vehicle that gm doesn't want to address.

Loss of power steering at slow speeds.gm repair shop says it's a common problem.power steering pump replaced under warranty but rack and pinion steering not cover even though the two items contribute to each others failure.

I purchased my saturn outlook in june of 2009 and still enjoy driving it but recently when turning the steering there is a "thud" noise and steering becomes difficult.this has happened on several occasions but not every time.i also have lost the ability to lock the drivers door with door lock but can lock it from remote key or using the passenger door lock and now the window control has started to work at random. This too is only when using the drivers control. The door on the drivers side just started making a loud noise a few weeks ago when opening. It sounds like it might be on a bind.i did take my car to dealer when the lock stopped working and was told i needed a part that was over a $100 +$100 labor just to tell me it needed the part. This was before the window starting acting up and the door began making loud creaking noise.any advice is appreciated. Thank you

Bought this vehicle used in november of 2012. Noticed that the steering wheel is noisy (a squeaky noise).eventually when i do u-turns the steering wheel gets stiff but still manageable to steer the vehicle although it's totally stiff to turn. Then lately most of the time when going in and out of a parking lot it seems i totally lost the power steering or perhaps the power steering locks up because it's really hard to turn the steering wheel. Brought it to a former saturn dealer and they said the power steering pump and rack is busted and needs to get repaired. Their quote to replace the parts and labor is about $1,500.

Travel us hwy when encountering rain condition vehicle had rear wheel loss of control into hydroplane, when attempting to correct steering into skid the steering failed to respond as if no power steering. Suffered severe neck, spine compression fractures, head, knee, ankle, twisted intestine from seat belt, laceration to torso and other injuries requiring hospitalization. Takata recall. I've had this car for about 6 months and there was a studder when driving at speeds less than 60mph. Took it to a dealership and was told it has a bad transmission. The power steering is loud and hard to control at low speeds. I just took the car to the dealer after receiving a letter that says bring it in and have the power steering checked, but they said it was my gearbox leaking and it would only be $1600.00 to replace it not only that they charged $70 to tell me that.....this is after the $4500 transmission i just had replaced....all the other saturns are recalled for this issue, they need to take back all saturns and give discounts towards another car...these are garbage....thanks

Difficulty turning the steering at low speed

Owner noticed a whining noise when turning at low speeds. Dealer diagnosed a failed steering rack (pinion), leaking power steering pump, and leaking water pump. Vehicle was purchased new in 2009 and currently has 39,000 miles (no longer under bumper to bumper warranty).

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. While driving approximately 10 mph, the vehicle lost power steering intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

On multiple occasions, we have lost the power steering while turning the vehicle. It is most prevalent with deeper turns, so it happens most often at low speeds, such as u-turns and in parking lots. The lost of the power steering gives the driver the sensation of a complete lost of steering. A local mechanic contacted a dealership technician who told him that they had not had any complaints of this on saturn outlooks, but have had several buick enclaves with a similar problem. They recommended changed the type of power steering fluid, and if that did not work then we may need to change the type of power steering pump on the vehicle. So far we have changed the fluid, but it has not been a successful solution as the problem is still occurring.

Power steering assist goes out at low speeds in my 2009 saturn outlook causing potentially dangerous situations when turning and parking. I have had many close calls in the recent months, but thankfully have not had an accident yet. The issue is dangerous though and i panic every time i have to turn on a busy intersection. This has been recalled in other gm cars, including some saturns, but not my particular model. My car has not even reached 100,000 miles yet. Please correct this issue for all known vehicles, gm.

We bought a used 2009 saturn outlook .it was "certified", in sep. 2010. From guaranty chevrolet in junction city or. Ithad 27872 miles on it.a month later i noticed a clunk in the steering at the end of turning.we returned the saturn to the dealer for inspection and was told that is common in the saturn and they couldn't find any thing wrong.at 52000 miles the power steering would occasionally be very hard to turn the steering wheel after making a stop, but once going it would be ok.on june 30 2014 we took it to capital chevrolet dealer in salem or.they diagnosed it and said the power steering gear was going out and it is going to cost us $1800. To fix it. We have to get it fixed because it is a safety issue. We have read other complaints for this very same thing. There should be a recall on this part. I hope to be reimbursed for this $1800.

While making a left turn coming out of our neighborhood the steering wheel suddenly lost the ability the make a smooth turn. Not knowing what was happening, i had to force the wheel to turn left in order to make it across the street. The force on the steering wheel did not produce a full turn of movement, just enough to keep the car in the lane. Once i was in a lane i noticed that the steering wheel still had a resistant feel to it. During my drive i also needed to make a right turn and the same thing happened. With the right turn, i noticed that making a turn into the left lane felt less restrictive, but it still required unusual effort to make a turn. Each time i made a left or right turn i was prepared for the feeling of lost power and prepared to use force to make my turning successful. This of course is not what is supposed to occur while turning a vehicle. I have made this issue known to saturn customer care.

I took my '09 saturn outlook to royal automotive dealership on 7/2/13 to correct another (now the 4th) recall and to have my steering issues corrected.the power steering locks up constantly when making turns.it is very difficult to maneuver and is very dangerous, especially when turning into on coming traffic.the dealership told me that the steering needed steering gear and pump replacements at a cost of $1436.after researching online, i found that many people across the nation are having the very same problems yet gm refuses to correct this dangerous issue.i supposed they are waiting on a class action law suit.after working with gm customer assistance, i am still unable to get henry parker at royal automotive in alabama to return my phone calls.from all the complaints across the nation, i would think this would need to be another gm recall because of the high nature of a potential life threatening situation in driving these cars.

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. The contact stated that the power steering assist failed and excessive force was required in order to make any turns. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

Our 2009 saturn outlook was purchased new in feb 2009. The squeaking noises in the steering column started at 11,171 miles. We had it serviced under warranty. They said it needed to be lubricated. The squeaking persisted and we returned to the dealership december, 2009 at 12,000 miles. They said it was a loose part in the assembly so they flushed the fluid and replaced the reservoir assembly. The squeaking persisted and we returned to the dealer feb 2010 at 16,940 miles and they again lubricated the steering shaft. The squeaking returned aug, 2010 at 20,621 miles and the steering gear was finally replaced. The speaking returned in late 2011 but we were out of warranty and decided to deal with it. Then the power steering went out completely as i was making a u-turn in a busy intersection, kids in the car. I almost crashed.this was late 2013. It was "repaired" out of warranty "internal failure in pwr steering pump possible due to metal from older steering gear. Replace pwr steering pump. Fill/bleed system."<really!?!?> this cost us $1100 to repair and the steering wheel is still squeaking. Filing complaint with nhtsa. Contacted gm and filed a formal complaint with their corporate office.

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook. While the vehicle was at a mechanic for an unrelated repair, it was noticed that the steering shaft separated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and various parts of the steering assembly were replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 108,700.

The power steering is very difficult to control at low rates of speed.

When turning at a low rate of speed steering gets hard making it very hard to turn.doesn't happen every time.

The car has become increasingly hard to steer after being in a parked position.once you move it out of a parked state the steering is very difficult but when you begin to drive it is okay.

I have a saturn outlook, 2009 model yearwith 15,600 miles on it.after i parked the vehicle, i noticed a fluid had leaked out onto my driveway.i could not tell where the fluid was from, although i knew it was not oil.i suspected power steering fluid or brake fluid.i took the vehicle to a chevy dealer for inspection / repair.the dealer found that the hose was leaking at the connection to the power steering unit. The dealer called general motors and they( general motors) agreed to pay for the repair minus a $100 deductible which i had to pay. I really appreciate this gesture by general motors, however, this tells me that g.m. Knows there is a problem with this power steering hose on many vehicles, and they are just trying to avoid a recall due to this problem.maybe i am wrong in my assumption, but i think it is worth looking into for a possible defect in material or design on this hose or connection. The leak has gotten worse daily.it was leaking more than just a little spot overnight.it was leaking enoughto possibly empty the power steering reservoir (spelling?) during a longer trip than just local errands. I could not find the power steering unit to check the fluid level on this vehicle, so i do not know for sure if it was nearly totally empty or not when i took it to the chevy dealer for the needed repair. If it were to empty out while driving, the vehicle could have lost the capability of power steering unexpected to the driver.

On 4/30/2012 my purchased new 2009 saturn outlook began experiencing difficulty steering.the dealer diagnosed it as a worn out steering gear.subsequently, i had this replaced after owning the car foronly 3 years and with only 40,226 miles.on 10/2014, while steering, a loud whirring noise occurred whileexhibiting difficulty turning. Again, the dealership diagnosed it as and replaced the bad steering gear with only 71,183 miles.the same repair in two years is unacceptable.i recently received a letter from gm indicating that some 2009 saturn outlooks may develop a power steering pump wear condition that can cause an intermittent drop of power steering hydraulic pressure that will cause reduced of loss of steering assist.i inquired with the dealership of a correlation with the repairs i experienced and of course was told that there was none.i will be looking to contact gm customer service to escalate my concerns.hopefully it helps.we love the vehicle when it is trouble free, but it has been an endless nightmare with multiple trips to the dealership service department for numerous other repairs.luckily the others were covered under warranty, but were repairs that should not have been needed until much later in the vehicles life time.

While driving at low speeds the power steering fails and it is extremely challenging to complete turns.as this occurs randomly, it is impossible to predict when this will occur.numerous customer forums with saturn outlooks/gmc acadia and buick encore indicate a problem with either power steering fluid, power steering pump or steering rack.this could be extremely problematic on winding roads with hairpin curves.

The contact owns a 2009 saturn outlook.the contact stated the power steering malfunctioned and the steering wheel became difficult to manuever while reversing out of a parking lot.the vehicle would make a squeaking noise whenever making a left or right turn.the failure recurred several times.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the power steering needed to be replaced.the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 61,000 and the current mileage was 62,000. Updated 09/02/14*lj

I took my car into the gmc dealership for a leaking water pump. After the inspection, they informed me that the power steering rack was leaking fluid and that it would cost $1,465 to replace the power steering gear. The service person we spoke to said this is happening to a lot of the saturn outlooks and most people are not fixing it. My complaint is that if they are frequently seeing this issue appear, when does this become a recall since this is a gm car and we have been experiencing a high number of recalls already on our vehicle. I am asking that the nhtsa investigate the power steering rack internal seal leak on the saturn outlook vehicles to ensure this isn't a more prevalent problem on this vehicle.thank you.

There was a leak that soaked the front passenger floor.entire electrical system ultimately failed.initially car continued to run with the key removed.subsequent attempts to start vehicle resulted in key stuck in ignition and inability to start engine; battery only shows output of 4 volts!!!

I was driving down the highway and all of a sudden my car slowed down really slow i pulled over and turned it off. When i tried to turn it back on it wouldn't crank.

There is a recall for the linkage system, where the vehicle still rolls while in park. I am having this issue and a grinding sort of sound. The vin is saying 0 unrepaired recalls on the website and i believe this issue is an ongoing problem of the previous recall in '09. While the vehicle was driving there was the sound that something was dragging, the vehicle was pulled to the side of the road to check but while in park the vehicle would still roll. The car had the emergency brake set in place at this moment.

Past 5 years check engine light on. Replaces plugs 3x, converters 3x, and everything including ignition coils 2x, light still on, stating converters need replacing. Car has been in the shop more than a hospital has emergency room patients. Engine light would stay off for a week or two, now only for 30-40 miles. Emissions says car not ready for testing. Vehicle drives and runs perfectly, purrs like a kitten, but now can't pass emissions. Chevy, acura, repair shops, muffler shops and alley mechanics all baffled. Too many invoices to upload, but i have every one of them and receipts for parts if needed. This has been going on since i got the car. Chevy never could fix it. Each trip cost me $700+, but no solution, the problem just keeps escalating. Oh, i never put cheap gas in vehicle, and oil changes/ tune- up are up to date. Help please. (someone suggested the ecm computer is bad)

The ignition key won't turn off killing my battery. Had already paid to have fixed, but now a week later the key won't come out again.i have to remove the plastic column and manually depress the ignition plunger to turn key back all the way in order to turn acc off and remove key.very aggravating issue. Local dealer not helpful at this point.

After the ignition is shut off with either the key in or out of ignition, when the driver door is open the radio is supposed to turn off.periodically the radio will stay of even after the door is opened.most times, the radio will go off if the door is opened back up, but there have been some times that the radio never shuts off.the sensor is combined into the lock assembly.i have been checking forums for any chevy, gmc, saturn, or other gm models and it seems to be a common problem.i also have a 05 chevy impala that is doing the same thing
