While driving home our headlights flickered and turned off. I was able to pull over and restart the vehicle and the headlights came back on. Once driving again, they flickered and the passenger side headlight went out. I was able to drive the vehicle home with the one light (luckily). When i went to replace the headlight, it was back on again. I checked all connections and was unable to find the cause. A couple of weeks later the stabila-trac system light and air bag light came on and went off (5 min period). A couple of days later the steering locked up and would jump, we brought it to the saab dealer and they had to replace the awd actuator needed to be replaced ($788). We replaced it and the steering and awd system appeared to work fine. Two days later the airbag light and stabila-trac system light came on again and went off. Dealer was unable to pull up the codes (not logging codes?). A month later while driving, the windshield wipers would come on and turn off on their own and when their on the washer sprayers for the headlights and windshield turn ontheir own. This vehicle has major safety issues due to electrical issues and should be investigated. This vehicle has become unsafe and untrustworthiness.

The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-7x. While driving at various speeds, the passenger side air bag inadvertantly deployed without warning. There were no injuries. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the air bag was repaired; however, the diagnosis was unavailable. On another occasion, the headlights failed to operate intermittently. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the electrical system failed and the fuse and head lamps needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact also stated that the front driver side door failed to unlatch, causing the contact to be locked outside the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed, but the latch was replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,000. The vin was not available.

The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-7x. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 35 mph, the wheels seized and control of the vehicle was lost. The contact was able to regain control and merged to the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear airbags needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Prior to the failure the vehicle's rear airbags were replaced and nhtsa campaign number: 14v404000 (visibility) was performed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.the vin was not provided.

The contact owns a 2006 saab 97x. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph both side curtain air bags deployed without a crash occurring. The front driver and passenger pretension on the side of the vehicle broke as well. The contact drove onto the emergency lane and saw no damage relative to a crash. The contact was able to continue driving and notified the manufacturer who had the vehicle inspected by an investigator. The investigator found two very small scratches on the rear differential which was the reason that the manufacturer refused to repair the vehicle. The diagnostic testing did not determine what caused the air bags to deploy. The side curtain air bags deploying could have injured small children. The failure mileage was 55,000.

I have a 2006 saab 9-7x with 92,000+ miles. The fuel gauge had failed at about 65,000 miles and i have yet to fix it because the dealership said that it would cost anywhere from $850 to $1,000 depending on how long it takes to be done. I think this is ridiculous that this is not a recall because i no many many people with the same issue. It is not fair for a defect in quality of a near $45,000 vehicle to be laid on a costumer. Signs of this problem were that the gauge would intermittently read false then regulate to normal. I was told it was not anything to be concerned about by my gm dealer and saab. Then one day it would not read at all, and i did not know how much gas i had, stalled getting off an offramp in front of an intersection dangerously stuck, and having to pay a tow bill, then have a mechanic look at it and tell me that it is the cheap fuel level sending unit that gm cheaply makes and he sees this problem over and over again on many gmt360 platforms. This problem caused me to be in a dangerous or even life threatening situation and i should not have to pay for this to be fixed if im not the only one out there with this problem!!! please do something about this before i have to spend $1000 on repairs and hundreds of dollars on a rental car so i can continue with my career!

The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-7x. The contact stated while the vehicle was brought to the swedish garage for air bag replacements, the vehicle attempted to start independently and the passenger side door panel emitted smoke. The vehicle's battery and the power window master switch were removed by the independent mechanic however the vehicle was not operable afterwards. The vehicle was taken to volvo saab of charlotte where it was diagnosed that the power window master switch, battery, and starter module would need to be replaced. The contact did not receive notice of nhtsa campaign number: 14v404000 (visibility) and was informed that after the incident the vehicle was involved in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 136,000.

Hid headlights flicker and then turn off. No rhyme or reason; cold weather and hot weather. Headlights will eventually flicker and turn off. I can manually flip the headlights switch off and then on again and they will come back on. Once they come back on, they can stay on for another few seconds or minutes, but they will eventually flicker and turn off again. Most times it's just one headlight at a time because i don't give it enough time before turning it back on before the second one goes out. Both have gone out before at the same time. In my 12 mile route to work in the morning, i may have to turn my headlights on again about 25 times at its worst. Sometimes they will stay on and sometimes it won't even flicker at all. No rhyme or reason. It's dangerous for the obvious reason but also people think you are flashing your lights at them. Can cause road rage in people'so what's worse? driving dangerously with no headlights or someone getting angry b/c you keep flashing your headlights at them? dangerous no matter how you look at it. Also police may think you are trying to warn people about them by flashing my headlights! as far as i can tell right now, it's just the low beam hids, not the high beams and not the yellow daytime running lights. Voltage has been tested and they say it's fine at 14 volts for both headlights even though they were flickering/turned off while being tested. Shop wants me to replace hid headlights altogether which is over $300 not including labor. Has been happening intermittently since i bought the car used in 2009. Is getting worse as mileage goes up it seems. 87,000 miles as of 12/23/2015. Purchased the car in feb.2009 with 20,000 miles. Lights will flicker in idle or while driving at any speed. Also loud buzzing from back speakers at times and stabilitrak light comes on and then will go off randomly.

Headlights flickered and i thought they were going to go completely off but they did not.checked the internet and with dealer for this incident and was told this was a normal occurrence with this vehicle.since then, the vehicle now has 145,746 miles and there are more instances of these happenings.also have a problem with the electrical system due to interference coming through the stereo system and creates a humming/buzzing sound coming from the back speakers.had a certified saab technician troubleshoot this problem and found a problem with the ground system (electrical) in the rear speakers/equalizer.i am presuming that this may have something to do with the whole electrical system (to include the headlights, equalizers, speakers)of this vehicle.just had a recall taken care of to replace the front drivers door power window module.

My driver side door panel kept getting stuck , the driver window nor any panels on my driver side door works.

1. Vehicle stalls/loses power while in motion at a low rate of speed. Problem can't be identified by 3 independent mechanics.one mechanic said replace fuse box and hope it solves the issue.2. Vehicle has electrical surges causes a multitude of electrical issues. So far: fire in fuse box burning out the low-beam relay, audio interference through the speakers (crackling) when turn signals, or radio are playing, remote access fails intermittently, replaced 2 bosch batteries, bad alternator, 3 air-ride suspension compressors, replace turn signal, brake, and head lights annually, low to no power while idling, and electronics not working intermittently (power seats, heated seats, air compressor, power windows). One mechanic said that there are faint plumes of smoke coming off of the fuse box.

My fuel gauge reading has been going back and forth from empty to full.i have put a full tank of gas in it and it reads empty.this began a few weeks ago and has not stopped.it has caused my engine light to come on as well.i went to have it tested at a shop and they said it was the fuel sender.i have researched and found a number of complaints about this.i ask how will i be compensated for this inconvenience?

The driver side front window will not go down, all other works. That part was a recall last year and was replace, with no charge to me. Also the engine shuts off after the vehicle has started.

The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-7x. While the vehicle was parked in the contact's driveway, the contact entered the vehicle and noticed a burning odor. The contact exited the vehicle, entered the house, returned to the vehicle, and found that the burning odor intensified. The contact noticed that the inside of the driver's side door panel had melted and the locking mechanisms no longer worked properly. The fire department was not contacted. Kelly cadillac (1986 state rd, lancaster, pa 17601, (717) 898-4000) was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired per an unknown recall. The manufacturer not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-7x. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired for nhtsa campaign number: 12v406000 (electrical system, visibility) however, the power switch door module was not responding properly and caused the windows to open independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. I purchased this vehicle in clark county indiana in 2011 the month of may. The original bill of sale was in the car from 2006 where it was sold from a saab dealership in fisherville indiana. My driver side door as of september 2012 started making a burning smell and all of a sudden nothing on my driver side door works window switch mirror control and the heater button on the door will no longer work. I keep getting a smoke smell off and on since last month!!

In march 2014, while operating the vehicle, the warning bell sounded, and an engine light (with down arrow) illuminated. The driver information center displayed "stabilitrak off", and the car immediately slowed from 45mph to 15mph. The speed of the vehicle would not pass 25mph, and there wasn't even enough power to climb a small hill.after deploying the hazard indicator, and pulling over, the engine was shut off. Upon waiting 2-3 minutes and restarting the engine, the problem did not recur.since then, the problem has recurred at least 3 dozen times, and it is becoming more frequent. This fault can easily have catastrophic results.

While driving approximately 45-50 mph, the contact stated that the check engine light, engine down arrow light and stability track light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle suddenly slowed down. The contact was only able to drive 25-30 mph. The vehicle was diagnosed at an auto parts store. The code indicated that the throttle body was the cause of the failure. The failure was intermittent at first but progressed and was constant. The part for repair was backordered. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 68,000 and the current mileage was 68,500.

My vehicle has a very strong gas odor inside and outside . You can walk by the rear of vehicle and smell gas. The gas odor is really strong when i put gas in suv.

Engine light with apparent cylinder misfires on cylinders 1, 4, 6 or 7 - believed to be possible afm lifter concern. Dealership wants to rip entire engine apart and claims 28-30 hours of labor at approximately $3500. This does not include parts (quoted $7500 total). They allege camshaft needs to be replaced. Gm willing to extend 15% discount but has essentially declined that vehicle has a mechanical and/or defective part. Lifter appears to be defective. Vehicle has 60k miles.

Had a problem with a screen in the engine crank shaft and the fuel level sensor has gone bad.

At least twice i have experienced the headlamps and running lights to fail on dark unlit roads, a very dangerous event. The first event occurred in the winter of 2014 the second in the winter of 2015. Gm recall is 14291. Nhtsa # 15v519000. I spoke with saab customer service and a saab certified service center. Both say my vehicle is not covered under this recall because they have determined that the headlamp failure doesn't occur on vehicles with high intensity discharge headlamps which my vehicle has. Yet i've experienced this frightening and deadly failure twice now. My vehicle should be covered under this recall. In those failure situations the car was in motion in darkness on a rural unlit road, it was winter and very cold (~0 degrees fahrenheit)

The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-7x. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the headlights started to flicker then shut off. The failure recurred several times. Night driving head lights will suddenly go out and my come back on suddenly.

Filed a complaint about this issue before (03/2015) and having the same problem, headlights flicker and sometimes go completely off while driving on highways and city streets.i received a recall notice when this issue was first known, after that i did not receive any other paperworkconcerning this issue.the saab north america office and the local dealer keep on telling me that me vehicle does not have the hid headlights (this is stamped on the headlight housing and when i searched the vin it does show it was installed on this model).i have tried to change the headlight drivers module (hdm) but still the same problem, thought maybe because i purchased an oem product it could be also be bad.purchased an aftermarket hdm and still the same, i do not know where to go with this, i was employed by dod as a fleet manager so i am not stupid when it comes to a vehicle with issues.think that gm is just trying to get over and do not want to accept it is a problem with the electrical system.

The fuel pump is faulty.i was told from my saab mechanic that he had seen 3 other models just as mine, within a couple of weeks, with the same problem.he told me that there is currently not a re-call on the part.i can not tell how much gas is in my vehicle, and need to make sure i gas up ever 300 miles.i was told this problem will keep re-occurring so i have not bothered to have it fixed, as i can't just throw money away.i feel that a re-call should happen.

2006 - saab 97x - in september, 2010 fuel gauge indicated low level fuel and computer showed 60 miles to empty.on the way to the gas station car just shut down.called for service and had fuel put in the car.still did not start.finally, was pushed off the road by local police.car would not start again and had to be towed to saab dealer.saab dealer claims i ran out of gas.now have issues with fuel gauge when filling up.after refueling, needle on gauge goes to empty and 'check engine light' and 'low level fuel light' comes on.after driving for a while, fuel needle will go back and forth from empty to full.it will eventually settle down and 'low level fuel light' and 'check engine light' turn off.not sure if fuel level is accurate.i have to keep resetting trip odometer to estimate where my fuel level is.i've called the saab dealer asking about any recalls on this.they said no but bring it in for them to look at.i understand it's a minimum $800. Fix ?please help !

After filling the fuel tank the gauge is still reading empty.while driving the gauge jumped up to full then dropped back to empty.

The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-7x. The contact stated that the fuel gauge was malfunctioning and providing an empty reading after refueling. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 90,000 and the current mileage was 92,000.

The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-7x. After refueling the vehicle, the contact noticed that the fuel warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The fuel gauge would fluctuate, causing inaccurate readings of fuel levels. The contact was unable to determine how much fuel was in the vehicle and as a result, the vehicle stalled and had to be towed. The vehicle was not repaired. There was an investigation under nhtsa action number: pe11014(fuel system, other fuel system, other:storage:fuel gauge system) that may be related to the failure. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000.

Heard a noise from the rear of my 2006 saab 9-7x suv at one point.shortly thereafter, the fuel gauge began acting erratically causing engine light to sporadically come on and go off.due to inaccurate readings, i have run out of fuel twice even though the information center still shows i have adequate levels of fuel in the vehicle.appears to also be impacting the consistency of acceleration and maintaining speed associated with the throttle body.gas mileage has dropped as well.supposedly the repair cost is more than $350.based on a search of similar vehicles (chassis and vintage) on the internet and newspaper reports, this appears to be a somewhat common problem, possibly connected to the use of fuel containing ethanol.similar vehicles include the gmc envoy, chevy trailblazer and buick rainier.i can send you related information from the internet if necessary.

Defective fuel gauge on 2006 saab 9-7x (basically same as gmc envoy) resulted in car stalling while fuel gauge still showed gas was above the reserve limit.

I was driving down the road then i noticed my fuel gauge went up to full then went down to empty and stayed there. I decided to stop and get gas and filled up my tank, once i started the car again the fuel gauge still read empty. As i was driving home the gauge slowly started to move to full but later went back to empty once i arrived home. The past 2 weeks after the first incident the gauge has been staying on empty even with a full tank. Im afraid of running out of fuel while driving out in the country or on the highway and getting into an accident. I have a family and fear for our safety when we are out driving and not sure how much fuel is in our vehicle.

Fuel gauge reads full or empty, swings between empty or full at times, faulty and caused us to run out of fuel on the freeway in severe weather even though it was not reading empty in oct 24th of 2010.gauge or fuel sending unit has become completely useless and needs replacement.2006 saab 9-7x arc.

I have a 2006 saab 97-x. Over the past two years i have had problems with my fuel gauge. I have run out of gas several times and now have to monitor my fuel through my consumption reading to know how much i have. I have almost stalled several times on the freeway. I am now seeing that i am not the only person with this problem and i am lucky i am observant enough as a driver to not have been injured in a crash. The local saab dealer wanted over $600 to drop my fuel tank and "investigate" the problem. This is ridiculous and gm should be responsible and accountable for this problem!!!

Fuel gage inconsistent. With full tank of fuel, gage shows empty. After using approx three gallons of fuel, gage will work, after using approx six more gallons of fuel, gage shows empty. Does not work again until tank is full and approx three gallons of fuel is used again, than stop's working after approx six gallons of fuel is used.

After i had just filled up the gas light came on and went to empty. It bounced around for a couple of weeks, and then stayed on empty.i was told this is a gm defect. I travel 5 days a week for work, and i'm concerned this could cause my vehicle to stall, as i've heard happening to others.i have to remember to refuel every 300 miles.this is a gm defect, therefore, gm should be fixing this problem!

2006 saab 9-7x.fuel level sensor failure causing tank to read full when empty, empty when fuel and fluctuates in between full and empty.this vehicle is the same platform as a chevrolet trailblazer, gmc envoy, buick rainier.sensor failed at 50,500 miles which is 500 miles out of warranty.this problem is widely reported and documented.

Upon starting engine, fuel gauge registered empty, alert sounded and low fuel light illuminated.drove to gas station and only put 1 gallon of gas before it was full.gauge remained on empty but now fluctuates the fuel level randomly.

Saab 97x suv...fuel gauge giving false readings. My mechanic told me it is a rampant problem with gm units of similar vintage. My gas gauge started giving me occasional false readings a few thousand miles ago. They become more and more frequent. Currently, the gas gauge only reads empty. While i can figure out how many miles i can travel before the need to fill up, i fear my wife may not be able to keep track as easily. I'm just afraid that the car will be rear-ended if it stalls out from a false reading, and the gas tankactually is empty.

At 60000 miles fuel sensor broke. It first fluctuated between e and f, now is always on e. Well documented problem with saab 9-7x models. Fuel sensor is located on the fuel pump. This is an extensive fix only to hope it does not break again. We have been calculating our fuel usage with mileage.

The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-7.the contact stated the fuel gauge displayed when the vehicle was full; yet,the fuel gauge displayed empty. Upon the manufacturers advice, the contact scheduledan appointment with the dealer for diagnostic testing. The contact stated the vehicle could shut off due to low fuel without any warning and possibly cause a crash because of the failure. The failure mileage was 64,100.

When the fuel gauge falls below 1/2 tank of gas (especially below a 1/4 tank) a faulty sensor causes the engine to seize and shut off.the vehicle loses all power steering, breaks etc. This happens exclusively when the car is in motion and coming to a halt (such as at a stop sign, stop light or making a sudden halt to turn).it is extremely dangerous. This has happened countless times since we purchased the vehicle in 2012.in order to avoid this situation we have to keep the fuel tank above 1/2 tank at all times.

Fuel level low light on causes the engine to seize and shut down, even after putting gasoline in the tank.

2006 saab 9-7x: when fuel tank is filled with gas, the fuel gauge in the instrument panel reads empty and the check engine light illuminates.will be uncertain as to how much fuel is in the tank.after approximately 100 miles, the gauge will swing between full and empty and may begin to function normally. However, there is no clear indication of the amount of fuel in the tank.the local saab dealership indicated the cause is a faulty fuel level sensor and is common with this year/model vehicle.only recourse is to utilize the odometer and refill every 250 miles traveled.

2006 saab 9-7x--fuel gauge sensor fluctuates between empty and full and now registers constantly at empty.using trip odometer to monitor gas mileage.. Failure occurred at @ 68,500 miles

Fuel gauge in 2006 saab 9 7 xstopped working and reads empty upon startup and with fuel in tank.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel level sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 55,000.

Have 2006 saab 97x....fuel gauge gives false reading causing one to run out of gas......fuel gauge will go from full to empty to a third full to out of gas back to full....very frustrating.dealer said there was no recall so would cost out of pocket around 500 dollars to fix....not right!!!!!!!!!!!or safe!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fuel gauge registers improperly and swings from full to empty. Low fuel warning even when full

After fueling up my tank my gas light stayed on along with my engine light.i took it to a local auto parts store to get it scanned and it ended up being my fuel sensor.the needle floats between full and empty as i drive down the road.i have a family of 8 and 5 of us able to drive.i would like my vehicle to work properly so one of my family members do not become stranded because of this well know faulty fuel sensor. (which seems to be a manufacturing flaw)i work with others that had the same issue but with related vehicles all with the gmt360 platform and had their sensors replaced which general motors covered but i am wondering why the '06 saab 97x does not have a recall.

I stopped to get gas today and filled my tank all the way up. Upon re-starting the vehicle that fuel gauge said it was completely empty. I drove a few miles and the check engine light came on. After 40 miles or so, the fuel gauge went back to full but the check engine light stayed on. Then for the next 10-15 miles the fuel gauge jumped back and forth from empty to full. The check engine light never went off. I am worried it is going to shut down on my on the highway like some other people have said! this scares me... And it only just turned over 60k miles today! gm please step in and fix this problem before people start dying... Seriously! this is dangerous and i am nervous to drive my saab now.

My vehicle has a very strong gas odor inside and outside . You can walk by the rear of vehicle and smell gas. The gas odor is really strong when i put gas in suv.

My driver side door as of september 2012 started making a burning smell and all of a sudden nothing on my driver side door works window switch mirror control and the heater button on the door will no longer work.
