Takata recalli want the airbags fixed. This is taking way too long.
My wife and i were involved in a motor vehicle accident in our 2007 saab 9-3 2.0 t convertible.we were heading eastbound on sr610 in stafford, va and the other vehicle was heading westbound.the other driver made an illegal left turn in front of us failing to yield the right of way and we struck his car in the ride side (t-bone).his car was totaled and we had significant front end damage and our airbags did not deploy.both my wife and i are still recovering from our injuries and under current medical care.i contacted my saab dealership and they suggested i contact gm/saab to investigate the accident to determine if the airbags should have deployed.gm/saab sent an inspector and i was told i would be provided a report regarding their findings.the inspector completed the investigation and i was contacted by gm/saab.i was provided contradictory information by the gm/saab representative and their supervisor.when i requested a copy of the reports and photographs on three occasions, i was denied.they stated the car was safe to drive and it responded in the accident the way and manner in which it was designed and manufactured.i stated to them if that is in fact true, gm/saab should have no problem providing me a copy of the reports, photographs, and a letter attesting to the fact if was safe drive; however, they repeatedly denied my request.in the next week, i will be getting back my damaged, but repaired saab and have no idea if it is safe to drive let a lone sell if i choose not to keep it.i am very concerned over gm/saab's lack of cooperation and failure to provide necessary information as to the roadworthiness of my vehicle.their failure to cooperate on this endeavor leads me to believe they care covering something up and are concerned of potential litigation.my position is that i want to ensure the car is safe to drive and if not, was there a failure on gm/saab's part and what are they willing to do to correct the matter at hand.

The document states that the parts to repair my vehicle are not currently available. This is from march 2016.how long am i supposed to pay for a vehicle that has a potentially lethal defect and has not been addressed. The millions of other recalls appear to have solution and those owners are still waiting. This makes me believe that they have not even had the time to manufacture a solution for my make and model. How long is an acceptable time to play russian roulette every day i commute to work. I am not even able to drive my 10 week old son anywhere in this vehicle. What are our options? if i wait to file this until i have an accident there is a good chance i will be dead and unable to file it.
Air bag malfunction light came on. Was told by service station that they have seen many saabs with the same issue. I have also seen many posts online with same issue. Was explained to me that it is always a module issue. To replace new could costs thousands. They have had all they have replaced rebuilt and many issues have been solved with this less expensive fix. I was advised to hold onto the service order by the garage because they have done alot of theseand they will not be surprised if a recall occurs.since saab has claimed bankruptcy does that mean nothing will be recalled? i see many complaints that warranties are not being honored. But as this is a huge safety issue would this be treated differently?this car cannot pass any safety inspection due to this issue.it only has 68,000 miles and has never given me any trouble. It just seems that this looks like a very common problem that should be addressed.

In march 2017 i received a recall for this vehicle. Have followed up several times (with both saab and gm) and am still told that no parts are available. The vehicle was purchased and staysin florida and it is my understanding that warmer climates are the highest risk areas for injury by defective air bags when inflated. This should have been enough time to handle the recall and i am concerned about the potential danger and would like an update from nhtsa. Thank you

Takata recall. I received notice that my 2007 saab 93 is subject to the takata air bag recall several weeks ago but was told that parts were not available. I would like to know when they will be available and what to do about it in the meantime. Is the car not safe to drive? would it be better to de-activate the air bag? i have read that heat and moisture can cause the problem. Is it the combination of the two? is one more of a factor than the other? i also own a honda crv that is subject to the recall and honda north america is providing a rental car until parts are available (in july). Shouldn't gm do the same if there is real risk of injury or death associated with driving a vehicle with this defect?

Takata recalli received a notice over one year ago (october 2015)that the driver airbag in my saab 9-3 2007 had been recalled. As of today, january 18, 2017, there is still no remedy available. It is unacceptable that it is taking this long to be fixed and i have concerns that the manufacturer will not be held accountable.

Remedy not yet available".this is not being handled in a timely fashion, it has been an extremely long time for there still to be no remedy for this recall.i am nervous to drive the car in case we do have the defective airbag.

There are multiple issues, as follows, but our concern is that our son has tried repeatedly to get support by calling the numbers on the post cards. We have been unable to get any service as a result of the calls and conversations. He lives on the island of kauai, west of oahu.#1: we must ship the car at our expense if we expect it to get serviced. Gm and saab will not pay for that shipping over or back. They will not pay for a rental car, and regardless of the recall mandate, they still send out bogus information.(example: bay area saab is no longer a saab dealer in san francisco ' but if they were our son would have to pay the transportation over and back to the mainland.)#2: i have also called, and finally got good advice from the gm 800 number representative on the phone who referred me to a point of contact on oahu. There currently is no saab dealership in hawaii, but we have used the former saab dealership (a former owner, has maintained the phone number: 808-735-2488) for parts in past years. Fortunately for saab owners, this individual has done all within her power to help oahu owners get the recall but it has been a nightmare for her as well to make all the necessary arrangements.she is a 'poster adult' for responsibility in small business. She and i have exchanged phone calls and e-mails, and i understand that she too is trying to get gm/saab to either pay for off-oahu saab owners to ship their cars over and back to the service provider has arranged for on oahu, or to pay to have qualified techs travel to out islands to service the cars. So far ' no action tbmk. And she is awaiting months for payment for the parts and service provided to oahu owners already.we are requesting a congressional inquiry via congresswoman tulsi gabbard at the same time as this request to inform nthsb that from our perspective, the recall is failing.

Takata recall:why does the airbag recall not include the passenger side airbag for my car?the driver side airbag was replaced yesterday in my car pursuant to the recall, but not the passenger side airbag. Doesn't the passenger side airbag present a danger to the passenger if it spontaneously deploys?

Takata recall.i have a 2007 saab 9-3 with a recall for the driver side airbag.i called gm saab and the dealer and they keep telling me there is nothing they can do at this time to resolve the issue. This is for the driver side so every time i am driving i could potentially have the airbag kill me. In some cars it is for the passenger side and you could just have the passenger sit in the back but mine is for the driver side. Please give me some help in this situation because they won't repair it and they won't take the car if i trade it in for a new car.all i have is a dangerous airbag on the driver side every time i drive.

Takata recall multiple calls to the dealer have no effect.can not purchase a air bag on my own. Service refuses to disconnect the airbag. Wife will not drive this car. It is a convertible which stays moist inside.
2007 saab has issue with driver steering lock and driver air bag failure. When i driver on highway i get notice steering wheel lock. I have not have the wheel lock yet while i am driving on highway but i did complete stop several time when notice on dash board light up where the steering locks up after i stop and turn off the car. I brought in the car to gm dealer and error on system computer and they said no issue. For a 2008 automotive less than 100,000 miles to have air bag failure is very odd. Dealers want to replace the air bag which cost about $1300. Which is expensive for 6 to 7 year old car to have to fix possible gm manufacture defects and their own quality control.

Air bag failure 2007 saab aero convertiblei was in a 4 car pile up in which i hit the car in front of me at approximately 25 mph.air bag sensors were hit but airbag failed to deploy.i was seatbelted but did hit the steering wheel face first and was taken to the hospital by ambulance from the scene.i did suffer a concussion and facial bruising and a full set of cuts in my mouth.

On august 27, 2012, while shopping in the mall, i came out side to the fire department putting a fire out that looks to have occurred while i was in the store. I don't understand how the care caught fire while it was parked. When i got out of the car it seemed to be fine. The fire marshall report side that it was an electrical fire that started because a defect from the manufacturer.
Purchased saab 9-3 2007 brand new. Nearly immediately the headlights kept going out. I found myself replacing them often and twice was pulled over by police when i hadn't realized and had just replaced the passenger side headlight. Also got one key at the time of purchase. The a/c wasn't working well so finally took it to the saab dealer in santa fe, nm in 2008 with complaints. They were to get me a second key, fix the a/c, check the leather on front seat and figure out what was wrong with electrical and headlights going out. The electric panel, indicating problems, was not working properly. They took my one key and told me they would be in touch as it was still under warranty. After a few days of a rental, i contacted and no one answered. I drove out to the dealership and no cars. A woman sitting inside at a simple desk in empty gm/saab showroom. She said they were all shocked, had no warning as employees and the dealership was gone no records on my car. No other dealer picking it up as they didn't have saab specialist. Long story short, i never got help from anyone, never got the repairs, never got the promised second key and have been driving it ever since. It enrages me. All under warranty! no complaints or letters have been answered. I was shocked they got away with it. Oh and the electric panel cover was gone as well. Lost. How they got away with all this is unknown. The leather on the driver's seat started cracking and peeling the first year! i put expensive leather conditioners on as well. Nothing. I am still furious and still have the car. No corporate offices would help either. I finally gave up. .
My 2007 saab 9-3, has incidents of not starting when i insert the key into the ignition. I get an that indicates"steering wheel lock malfunction. Pull over safely". This has happened to me while stopped at a light and while driving on the highway at speeds of 65 miles per hour. I notice that while the car is in gear, i can drive it but once i place it in park, the car will not drive. I have to turn the car off and restart it in order to move it. I am concerned for my safety if this should happen while i am driving. The car is a general motors product however gm neglected to keep my car warranty information once they discontinued selling saab. I can no longer get any information from gm on any recalls. I purchased my car new and it has 78,000 miles.
I was driving my 2007 saab 93 aero. There must have been something faulty with the wiring of my seat warmer. It had gave me a slight burn on my left bottom/leg area. Good thing i turned it off in time because i also started smelling as if an electrical fire had been starting. It smelt of burned leather and possibly other components. After contacting the dealership there where unwilling to take care of this issue for no cost but in my opinion that should be the least of there worries. This to me is a liability issue and a possible fire hazard.
While attempting to install new headlights, i removed the negative on the battery.after putting the negative back on to the battery, the system has reset and has not rebooted since then.the car is in minimal driving condition, performance has significantly dropped and the steering wheel locks while driving at high speeds, the engine knocks and shakes at high speeds, there is no more turbo boost and while flooring the gas pedal, the car is hesitant to increase speed.
I wasdriving my car through town and the left side of the driver's seat got so hot it burned my upper left thigh and i was trying to pull my leg out of the way and almost crashed, and when i stopped the car i saw that it had also burnt the leather seat leaving about a four and a half inch burn mark on the seat above the heater coil.
2007 saab 9-3 aero equipped with 2.8l v6 turbo engine (convertible) - engine compartment fire - (odometer - 23,200 miles) upon starting, engine ran a little rough, proceeded to saab dealer for service - no service lights on dash - eventually lost power brakes - engine stalled and burst into flames - all happened within a one-mile distance.
2007 saab 9-3, wouldn't start and had to be towed to the dealer.the error message received when inserting the key was "lock malfunction.pull over safely".this message and the incident is identical to the problems experienced with my 2005 saab 9-3, which had to be towed on numerous occasions because it wouldn't start.the problem happens when the key is inserted into the ignition.i know at least three other saab owners who have experienced the same problem, one who just purchased his 2009 saab this year.i actually filed a claim with saab for my 2005 vehicle, vin , file no. 71-557354191 and because this was a recurring problem with my prior vehicle i believe it will happen again with my 2007 saab causing me considerable inconvenience and possibly putting me in danger if it happens to occur in a an unsafe location.it would appear that saab would acknowledge this problem and notify their customers of this problem.i have checked the recall record and find no evidence that there has been any attempt by the company to recall or correct this situation.i will be taking action under the song-beverly consumer warranty act to recover the full purchase price of this vehicle because bsed on the service record and my conversations with the dealer there does not appear to be a remedy for this defect.the technicians don't seem to know why this continues to happen.it appears to be an electrical problem related to the computer.
2007 saab 9-3.consumer writes in regards to ignition switch failure.consumer has previous complaint in artemis with a different vehicle and odi number.the consumer stated the vehicle completely shut down. The ignition switch was replaced, after being at the dealer for a week.
I was driving my gas gage needle went all the way down,& only comes up wheni actually start the vehicle. Thanks let me know please who will fix this, if there's a recall i called the dealer where i bought this vehicle and theysaid there's no recalls at this time hoffman saab hartford ,ct.
On cold engine starts (starting the car after it being at rest for a few hours), the power braking does not work for the first 1-3 minutes that the car is on. Happens consistently. First noticed months ago. Appointment scheduled for repair. Vehicle is a 2007 saab 9-3 aero.
While driving the ignition switch turns to the off position suddenly.this happens when there are any vibrations in the car such as when i reach into and shut the center counsel, shut the glovebox, when anything even lightly grazes the key fob, when a balloon popped in my car and even when i sneeze in the car!when this happens the car completely looses power such as lights (interior and exterior), power steering, speed and basically all controls of the car are lost.the car ignition has moved to off at many speeds including 65 mph on the freeway, 50 mph, 35 mph, 25 mph and even while backing out of the driveway.this is extremely dangerous!i can't drive on the freeway because i am deathly scared my car will shut down when i hit a bump in the road.if that was to happen i would be dead in a second!this faulty ignition could cause great harm to not only myself yet to innocent people on the road.this is the second ignition switch i have put in my saab and it has 94.5k miles on it.saab's are famous for their electrical ignition issues and i beg the government to please step in and demand a recall.best regards,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
This has occurred on multi occasions. Usually in cold weather the car usually while braking will report a complete failure of the brake, anti-lock brakes, and stability control. Speedometer quits working, and message appears to come to a complete stop. Once you stop and turn off the car, and then restart all messages disappear and car returns to normal operation. The system may lead to an accident. This is the five incident over the last two years.
I took my car to the shop today and told them that my check engine light has been coming on, particularly on cold starts. I also told them that it usually idles roughly on first starting up, then runs normally after a while.they ran tests on it and told me that the car has what is commonly known as the 'intake valve problem common on 07-11 saab 9-3's'they have given me an estimate of $2400 to replace the intake valves. From research, this appears to be an issue that owners have been having for years now.the car has 93,000 miles on it, and is a 2007 9-3 2.0t sedan.
First issue was front suspension coils. Replaced both. Biggest issue was once the weather became very cold, car would not start. Ended up being a victim of the bad intake valves provided by gm. Now, after a complete valve job and having the car run great from march 2017 to dec 2017..it appears it may have a cracked block. Car never overheated. Fluids were always maintained. Looked into that and apparently there were some casting issues as well. Thanks gm.
Intermittent check engine light.comes on for a while and then goes off.cannot link it to any vehicle activity.
Needs valve job ($3k) due to improperly hardened valves.very common problem on this car.rough running when cold.compression test verifies this condition: very poor when cold, but fine when warm.if left on-fixed, will cause permanent misfiring.
Began having issues starting, and misfires, and finally engine lost compression but still able to start when weather was warm. Nov -dec 2011no start or hard start in weather below 35f,local service shop said needed new engine, no compression when sat for long periods or exterior temp below 35f approx 94,000 mile. Dec 2011- called saab but bankrupt so no customer service, reached out to gm corporate regarding warranty and was told not honoring them since bankruptcy. Jan 2012 -2nd opinion by indy saab focused service center. Thought wrong oil was put in and with proper oil car, new spark plugs, fuel pump, etc started even in cold weather, but still misfired and rough idle and had to start in cold had mild winter.jan 2013- same no start in cold and compression test again and cold test showed no compression in all cylinders. Hard to start when outside temp was below 30f and tested compression again and loss of compression, and ran sea foam through engine to remove carbon buildup upon suggestion from website board, others having issues with gm motors! not specific to saab.still randomly started car ever 6 hours when temp dropped below 28f. Mar 2013- did another top engine cleaning with sea foam, mild weather until december. Dec 4th 2013-again hard start in cold weather did another top engine cleaning with sea foam.jan 8, 2014- temp outside 22f no start again after sitting for 6 hours, battery dead from cranking, car towed, and no compression again, another 2 cyclestop engine cleaning, car started after sitting in shop overnight. Jan 22, 2014- temp outside 16f, sat idle for 8 hours, no start again, battery died from cranking, car towed to shop, waiting on diagnosis. Found mention of spna technical bulletin dated 12/17/2013 hard starting cold w/ engine misfire and low compression 9-3 b207 and it described my issue perfectly. Reaching out local saab/gm service center.
Upon start, rough idle and misfires. Occasional stalling. Defect traced to metallurgical issues in the intake valves of the vehicle causing an improper seal when the engine is cold.
Intake valve failure on 2.0 turbo.chronic problem with this model due to defective valves.widespread problem on the internet linked to improperly hardened intake valves.the car failed to start and a cylinder compression check indicated that compression was lost on all four cylinders.$2,600 repair.
I was having an issue with my engine idling rough when starting up and while driving cold. After the car warms, the issue get a bit better. But while cold, the car runs terribly rough. After spending over $3000 trying to diagnose and fix the issue, including replacing the entire fuel system, several engine parts, and hours of labor and wasted time, the saab dealer narrows it down to a compression issue involving one of the intake valves, which it seems is a common problem for the 2007 model 9-3s. They estimate an additional $2,500 of work to fix it! i've read hundreds of complains on this issue. If this is such a common issue, gm should recall these faulty parts and replace them.
During colder starts, the engine will take much longer than it should to start. Either it will try and crank until it does or it will crank and stall. Usually a few tries and it will clear up once the engine is warm. I think this might have to do with the intake valves being warn out prematurely. Many other saab owners in the same few years and mileage are having this problem.
Difficult or no start when cold, rough idle, low compression #4 cylinder.
The contact owns a 2007 saab 9-3. The contact stated that the engine valves failed prematurely. The service engine indicator illuminated and the vehicle performed roughly each time the failure occurred. In addition, the springs that connected to the front struts had premature rust and corrosion, which caused it to fracture without warning. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the front coils springs and eight valves needed to be replaced. The vehicle was also inspected by a dealer (conntech saab specialists, 180 jefferson blvd, warwick, ri 02888, (401) 738-3665). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin and failure mileage were not available.
The contact owns a 2007 saab 9-3. The vehicle stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The failure occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who could not diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileages was 26,000.
Upon attempting to start the engine, sometimes it runs very rough and then stalls. Repeated attempts to start the engine result in stalls or, finally, result in the engine running very rough and then gradually smoother.
It appears i too have been struck with the misfortune of havingwhat i have termed " morning sickness" in cooler weather.i currently have one - hundred and forty- eight thousand miles on this vehicle.i just had it diagnosed low compression in two of the cylinder's, one cylinder has 150 psi?, the other has 175.i believe they should be 200 psi? usually it does not last long ( of rough running) of course depending on outside temperature.i have recorded a temp . Of five above f., and the car started fine, but took a while for it to" clear out ", generally no more than a minute or two.i see i am not the only one with this problem, thought i'd share with others and maybe something could be done about it.i guess i feel i am luck, that with all miles i have on the vehicle, that i have gotten this far, question is how much farther can i go before i need to something??
In cold weather (slightly below freezing at the time) vehicle started but idled very roughly. Drove down street and while coasting engine was idling and sputtered and stalled within 1 minute of initial start. Loss of brake assist, power steering, power to accelerate with traffic. Pulled off to side and restarted engine. Again rough idle. Applied gas pedal and held rpms slightly above idle to warm engine. After ~5 minutes, car was idling normally. No further issues once engine reached operating temperature.upon research saab/gm (spna technical assistance) has issued a notice to certified service centers that intake valves are prematurely wearing causing severe issues in cold start situations. Notice is dated 12/17/2013 and was re-issued to expand scope of model years known to be effected. This warrants an investigation for potential recall, as no vehicle should result in such significant degradation of a major engine component with such limited miles. Repair requires major engine work to replace all intake valves.
Had cylinder compression test performed, major variance in cylinder psis and engine running erratically.pulled the head and discovered intake & exhaust valves both excessively worn and a few bent.this is a known issue on many 9-3s during this time period.my issues surfaced surprisingly late, most have shown many miles earlier.this was a very expensive and time consuming repair at $1900.this issue should be addressed as there seems to be evidence that bad parts were used and have deteriorated prematurely.
2007 saab 9-3 went on fire with driver in it.car was serviced at massey saab, orlando, flon june 3rd, 2008 (40,000 mile service, electrical repairs, detail, wheel alignment).vehicle was in mcdonald's drive-through in orlando fl on junction of 535 n and hotel plaza blvd.engine caught on fire.manger of mcdonald's (frederico) and i (driver) pushed car away from building and other people.flames entered cabin whilei was in the vehicle steering it.i jumped out just in time, and the whole car went up in flames.there have been records of other saab's having similar fire problems in the past.i would like to have this investigated so other's are not injured in an occurrence like this.i am lucky to be alive.the fire department arrived and extinguished the flames, and informed me how lucky i was that i jumped out, and not brought the car home and parked it in my garage. Otherwise the whole neighborhood would have been affected. I do not have the full vin b/c the car is completely totaled in fire. The last six numbers are 013430. Owner parked the vehicle at work and when owner got out, owner noticed a weird electrical type smell. Owner went inside to work. Approximately 5 minutes later, someone came in and said that the saab was smoking. Owner went outside and saw smoke coming from around the hood and also saw some embers dripping underneath the saab. Someone else called the fire department. By the time the fire department arrived, there was fire appearing up through the hood and cowl area. Vehicle has 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine.

Owner drove saab to mall and parked it. Approximately 20-30 minutes later, came back out to car and observed that fire department had extinguished a fire in the saab. Fire originated in right rear of engine compartment. Cause undetermined at this time. Vehicle has 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine.
2007 saab 9-3the vehicle stalls during hot and cold weather. Sometimes the vehicle runs "rough" the vehicle has then stalled in the middle of an intersection. The vehicle has been to the dealer six times for this problem. Saab usa has been made aware of this problem and i advised them i want them to buy the vehicle back. The vehicle is still under it's factory warranty.
2007, 2.0t saab 93 engine stallingstart engine, hot or cold, place gear selector in forward or reverse, the engine will stall out, but will immediately re-start. Car has been back to dealer twice for re-programming of ecm, but engine still stalls.
After reading about the recent toyota floormat recall i have decided to report a similar problem with my 2007 saab 9-3.my driver side floormat does not stay in place and has repeatedly gotten caught as i push the clutch in.the result is that the clutch will not let out with out me manually removing the floormat by hand.i can push the clutch in, but it won't let out.this would be a simple fix if they would create a better floor mat anchor, but the dealer said they can't do anything.
I finally gave up. .
Low beam head lamp failure in 2007, saab 9-3 2.0t sport sedan. In 42k miles i have replaced the head lamps 4 times. It usually occurs only on the left head lamp. This past saturday, oct 3, 2009, i lost the left one in the morning and the right one in the evening. I had no low beams and had to drive 25 miles home, at night time with considerable city traffic, with my high beams. The dealer has explained to me that there is an electrical surge when starting the car that can blow the filaments in the bulbs because they come on as drls when the key turned to the on position. Their "fix" for this is to reprogram the car to disable the drls and auto turn on of the headlights.

The contact owns a 2007 saab 9-3. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle was able to be restarted but the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was found that the fuel pump had failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was not available.
Fuel gauge not working
Engine very rough when starting after cold night.this seems to be a very common problem on the internet for these car models and years, and the official reason is improperly hardened (defective) intake valves.eventually the car will not run.repair is about $2500.

This is for a 2007 saab 9-3 sedan (non-convertible).the driver's side front seat belt retractor does not to retract properly and fully.the automatic tensioning system cable in the driver's side front seatbelt retractor could have broken.in the event of a crash, the seat belt that has not retracted may not properly restrain the seat occupant, increasing their risk of injury.
The rear center 3-point seatbelt locks without any occupant and then fails to release. If i do not unbolt the seat belt from the floor, the retractor continues to tighten and begins to crush the seatback cushioning.i have not had more than a few passengers use the center seat, but the belt retraction mechanism should not fail after being used less than a dozen times over the life of the vehicle.
Seat belt refuses to retract.the seat belt is now completely unwound and does not retract.

The driver seat heater element gets extremely hot and has burnt through the leather. The last time i used seat heater i was burnt on the back side of my leg and there was blistering.
I own several saab 9-3s and on numerous occasions this vehicle, as well as another, both with the 6 cylinder, experience instances in which the brake pedal is extremely difficult to depress resulting in problems slowing or stopping the vehicle.the condition occurs primarily when the engine is cold or after you have accelerated and then are required to stop such as in high traffic congestion.
On numerous occasions, after starting the vehicle and selecting reverse or drive, as the car started to move the brake pedal becomes extremely hard, almost impossible, to depress and there was little to no brake effectiveness at all. The car would not stop until selecting neutral and using the emergency brake. After the car was able to idle for 15-30 seconds, the brake pedal returns to normal and functions properly again. This most often occurs if the car has sat off for more than a few hours.
At start up, the car loses braking power.to stop the car you have to push extremely hard on the brakes.after the car has been driven 20 to 30 feet the brake power comes back to normal.
I have a saab 93 aero and the brakes do not work shortly after starting the car.
2007 saab aero convertible - brake loss.upon startup car intermittently loses its braking function.it actually first happened to the saab tech.they order new vacuum hoses and replaced them.that did not correct the problem. They have since resurfaced the rotors and flushed the brake system ' still having the problem.the dealer is now going to replace the master cylinder.brake failure has been a low speeds and upon start up but almost hit the wall of my office building and almost hit when car was unable to stop while leaving parking lot.with all of the complaints on this board, i don't understand why no recall has been issued.
2007-saab 9-3 aero v-6 engine. On 7-4-09 and 7-6-09 started car and backed out of garage and had no brakes. Used e-brake to prevent car from going into street. Brakes seemed to work fine after that. However, based on past complaints that i have seen on this web site i feel that it is time to address this issue before someone gets injured.
Sudden loss of braking power immediately after i start the car.at low speed, i had to engage the emergency brake and transmission to stop the car.brake pedal was depressed to the floor.
My brakes fail to work after starting my car but on feb 23rd. I was accelerating on the highway and my car continued to accelerate after i took my foot off the gas. I tried to brake and the pedal was extremely hard to press on. The car was able to slow down a bit but once i took foot off brake pedal the car would speed up again. I took my car in for service on the 24th of feb. And was told that they could not duplicate the problem and maybe my floor mat caused the problem. My car continues to have trouble braking.
The contact owns a 2007 saab aero. The brakes failed while driving 5 mph in reverse on a hill. The contact was only able to stop the vehicle after placing the vehicle in park. The weather conditions were normal. No warning lights appeared on the dash board. This was the first occurrence of this type of failure.the current mileage was 10,395 and the failure mileage was 10395.
The car failed to brake right after starting it up.the car was started, the brake was engaged, the gear select lever was moved to the drive position, after moving forward out of the parking space the car did not want to stop.we almost ran into the car in front of us.
The brakes on my 2007 saab 9-3 aero sport combi failed while i was driving.in the first incident i was backing out of my driveway and attempted to apply the brake only to have no brake pressure at all.with the pedal pushed all the way to the floor the car failed to stop and i was forced to use the emergency brake and put the transmission in park to stop the vehicle.the dealership claimed the issue was a faulty brake booster check valve and repaired that part.i drove the car home from the dealership and at the first stop light after leaving the dealership i attempted to stop the car from 65 mph only to have no brake pressure again.i was forced to down shift and use the emergency brake to avoid hitting several cars.i drove the car very slowly back to the dealership and demanded they fix it.the car was in the shop two weeks for what they claim was a bad master cylinder.i suffered brake loss a third time and the dealer said there was nothing more they could do to help me so i parked the car in my driveway for 3 months while saab and my leasing company negotiated a buy back.i no longer have the vehicle.saab repurchased the car in december 2007.

The contact own a 2007saab 9-3. He has to repeatedly apply pressure to the brake pedal to stop.the power assist unit was replaced under the warranty. He was in the process of having the power assist replaced for the third time.the failure mileage was 25,000.
2007 saab 9-3 was being driven at normal speeds on a residential street. Driver noticed shudder in steering wheel twice, then at the right next turn the driver's side front wheel turn 90 degrees outward from forward direction and the car was inoperable. Axle was detached from the driveshaft. Car taken to saab dealer, who reported a bolt on the steering linkage may have sheared off, causing the failure.*tw
I have a 2007 saab 9-3. It has a plastic cover/protector under the dash over the pedals. The problem is that my feet constantly get caught by this protector which limits my ability to press on the pedal, especially the brake as my foot may get caught. Similarly i have encountered issues where i cannot release the brake or accelerator for the same reason. There is also a connector there which looks like the connector to connect to the car ecu. This connector sticks out below other points and causes the most interference. It is thin so it is only a problem at certain times, but when it gets in the way it can severely impede my foot. My shoes are not very large at all at a men's size 9, but i keep hitting the cover and connector on my saab.i am posting this after the toyota recalls, since i feel that this can have a similarly dangerous effect on my driving.
The front coil springs and strut bearings need to be replaced because both coil springs cracked/broke. There is a similar issue with other saab model years recall 15917 and this should be expanded to cover model year 2007 as well since same problem occurring.
Please refer to complaint number 10691989 which pertains to driver side broken suspension coil spring. This complaint (which i'm submitting now) pertains to passenger side (right) suspension coil spring. The top of the coil spring was heavily rusted approx. 1-2 inches from the top of the spring and was at risk of breaking/snapping. Broken spring could have sliced the front tire open and caused a high speed accident.
Noticed a clunking noise coming from the front left side of the car when going over bumps. Took car to mechanic and discovered that the front left coil spring was corroded and broken. The corrosion occurred at the bottom of the spring and the broken piece was sticking out of the strut assrmbly and was possibly a tire puncture hazzard. The mechanic stated that this was a common occurrence on this model saab but is not covered by gm special coverage#15917 because that extended warranty only applies to 2003-2006 models. Why not gm??
Left front coil spring failure. Corresponds with existing saab tsb for 9-3's through 2006. My 2007 is identical vehicle and equipped with the same part as earlier vehicles, but current campaign does not cover this year. It caused a drivability issue. Please review for action, this is an accident waiting to happen.
After experiencing rattles in the front of my car, i brought my 2007 saab 9-3 in to a mechanic to find both front coil springs corroded and cracked. Had i not had this repair done the broken coil springs could have caused a serious accident. This was a $900 repair. Another friend with a 2007 saab 9-3 also had this repair done.
Front coil spring on car has rusted through which is a common issue for 2003-2006 saabs, and gm has provided a extended warranty to cover this issue. However, for 2007 they have not. (i have never had a vehicle where the springs have broken.) while i did not have an accident, when the spring broke, it caused adrivability issue. After searching saab forums for answers, it is apparent i am not the only one affected by this issue. Please review for possible action. This seems to me a just a accident waiting to happen. As the suspension loses 1-2" in height effecting braking distance, and if on a rough road when this could happen damage to car and the people inside.
The suspension coil spring broke.
Many 2003-2005 saab 9-3's are unexpectedly facing their factory springs breaking while driving. This forum thread specifically shows about 10-15 people who have already encountered this dangerous problem http://saabcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=155844 . It is absolutely unacceptable that stock factory springs are breaking on these vehicles. I suggest that you pressure saab into putting out a recall, as everyone broke their springs while driving.
Left front coil spring failure. Corresponds with existing saab tsb for 9-3's through 2006. My 2007 is identical vehicle and equipped with the same part as earlier vehicles, but current campaign does not cover this year? this makes no sense. Please expand to include all model years originally equipped with the faulty coil springs. I was lucky in that the failure on my vehicle did not tear the tire and i did not have an accident.
Thanks gm.
Drivers side front coil spring rusted and broken causing loud clunking when driving.i am looking for an explanation on why safety recall 15917 only includes the years 2003-2006 when clearly the issue from reading online surpasses those years by far.
The contact owns a 2007 saab 9-3. The contact stated that while driving 5 mph, a loud noise was heard from the front end of vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the springs were broken. The springs, bearings and front end suspension was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 53,804.
The contact owns a 2007 saab 9-3. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph there was a loud banging noise that came from the front drivers side. The contact noticed that the coil spring was broken on top of the strut on the front drivers side. The contact was able to be driven to the contacts residence. The failure was not diagnosed nor was the vehicle repaired. The vin was not available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 103000.
Driver started hearing a clunking sound on the left front side.upon getting brake work done mechanic discovered that the left front coil spring had broken. Driver contacted the mazda/saab dealership of bedford, ohio and was told that the vehicle was covered in a warranty extension for the coil springs and scheduled the repair work. After taking the vehicle in for service the dealership recognized that they had made a mistake and the warranty extension was only for 2003-2006, and would not honor the repair. If the same problem is occurring in the 2007 models, the warranty extension should also apply to those vehicles.
While driving my saab 9-3 2007 i started hearing some rattling noise from the front left suspension.i stopped the vehicle but could not see anything unusual.when i reached my garage i was able to remove the front wheel and noticed about 6 inches of the bottom spring coil was broken off from the rest of the spring.i contacted saab exchange dealer in lake bluff, illinois and was told the 2007 saab does not have any recalls related to the springs and the replacement cost would be about $1250.this is definitely a major safety issue and should be repaired by saab (gm in this case).
A noise could be heard coming from the front passenger side of the vehicle when driving over rough portion of the road.vehicle was taken to repair center and it was discovered the front passenger coil spring had corroded and split.currently working with dealer to verify if repair costs can be covered under any extended warranty.
Well known problem with saab - suspension springs breaking.they warranty it for '03 to '06 cars only.mine is an '07.my front right spring broke. Dealers say they see a ton of them in '07's and see the posts online from '07 owners with broken springs.saab/gm needs to get behind this and do the right thing.
Driver side (left) suspension coil spring broke. It has rusted through approx. 2 inches from the top. It broke going through moderately uneven roads, without hitting any major potholes. Broken spring could have sliced the front tire open and caused a high speed accident. Was barely holding together at the time of replacement. Found out when started to hear clunking sounds, but could have happened at higher speed with worse consequences.
2007 saab 9-3 front spring broke and was sticking out near the tire.could have punctured the tire and caused severe accident.i removed the piece of 7" spring steel and am dealing with saab/gm.this was a known problem with previous models, however hasn't been acknowledged at this point for the latter years.
Front suspension springs broke (metal fatigue).
My 2007 saab 9-3 aero sedan had a broken front spring. The vehicle has 28,00 miles.

The contact owns a 2007 saab 9-3. While driving approximately 55 mph, the contact heard a popping and metal grinding sound. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the front driver side coil spring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer wasnotified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 106,000.
The contact owns a 2007 saab 9-3. The contact stated the left driver side front coil spring broke. While driving 35 mph the contact heard a little rattling and took the vehicle to a local mechanic who gave him an estimate of $697 to replace the front and rear coil springs. He took the vehicle to the dealer and wasawaiting for a response from the dealer. The manufacturer was contacted and wanted to run a diagnostic test for $95 to inform him of what the failure was. A claim#71-944081240 was filed with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 51,700. Updated 05/25/11the dealer covered the cost of the repair. Updated 06/06/11.
The contact owns a 2007 saab 9-3 sport combi wagon.the contact was driving 25 mph uphill when the vehicle abnormally accelerated to 40 mph. The vehicle ceased unintended acceleration as soon as it hit 40 mph. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection yet the failure was unable to be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated the failure had occurred at least twice. The current and failure mileage was approximately 27,000.
The contact owns a 2007 saab 9-3.the contact stated that the floor mat has grooves that are supposed to anchor down onto the floor.however, the grooves will not latch and causes the floor mat to get stuck underneath both pedals.the current mileage is 2,650,and the failure mileage was unknown.
